- 0:00Speaker 1: All right, guys, here we are. Our last break of
- 0:02Speaker 1: the day. We have to, as always, say thank you
- 0:05Speaker 1: to our Steve Harvey Nation for just riding with us
- 0:08Speaker 1: every single day. We appreciate you. Now, Steve, we have
- 0:12Speaker 1: something really special for you. OK, something special. We have
- 0:16Speaker 1: a special note from a woman you met years ago.
- 0:20Speaker 1: And she said you changed her life with the advice
- 0:22Speaker 1: you gave her. OK, her name is Shava Fox. She
- 0:25Speaker 1: wrote a letter. She says, Mr. Harvey, we met years
- 0:28Speaker 1: ago and I was in a very dark place. I
- 0:32Speaker 1: was fighting depression and questioning whether I had anything left
- 0:35Speaker 1: in me. During that season, your voice, your honesty, and
- 0:40Speaker 1: your ability to tell the truth with humor reached me
- 0:44Speaker 1: in a way I will never forget. You helped me
- 0:47Speaker 1: realize that my own voice mattered. You helped me recognize
- 0:51Speaker 1: a talent I didn't know I had. I didn't have
- 0:54Speaker 1: a mom or a dad, so you saved my life
- 0:58Speaker 1: that day. Now I'm a published author and And you
- 1:01Speaker 1: told me to reach out to you when I released
- 1:04Speaker 1: my first book. It's titled When a Man is Fed Up.
- 1:08Speaker 1: They're tired of being tired, too. And the foreword of
- 1:12Speaker 1: my book is dedicated to you. I'm not writing to
- 1:16Speaker 1: ask you for anything. I simply need you to know
- 1:19Speaker 1: that talking to you had an impact far beyond what
- 1:23Speaker 1: you may have ever realized. Thank you for being who
- 1:27Speaker 1: you are, Mr.
- 1:28Speaker 2: Harvey.
- 1:29Speaker 1: Very nice, right? Well... Yeah.
- 1:31Speaker 2: That's nice. You know, it's always good to know that
- 1:34Speaker 2: you have an impact, you know. Yeah.
- 1:39Speaker 1: You remember her?
- 1:42Speaker 2: Y'all met in a dark place, she say.
- 1:44Speaker 1: That's what she said. No, she said.
- 1:47Speaker 2: She said she was.
- 1:48Speaker 1: In a dark place.
- 1:49Speaker 2: Where was you at all these lights? You are really ignorant.
- 1:53Speaker 2: You sound like a booth at a restaurant to me.
- 1:56Speaker 1: I know. Shut up, Tommy.
- 1:59Speaker 2: What kind of trouble I'm.
- 2:01Speaker 1: In with this hill? The point is you helped this
- 2:04Speaker 1: young lady when she needed help, when she was at
- 2:07Speaker 1: a low point in her life.
- 2:10Speaker 2: I sort of remember that because she had that name.
- 2:13Speaker 2: I had never heard that name before.
- 2:15Speaker 1: Shava.
- 2:16Speaker 2: Because i thought she kept saying shabba and i was
- 2:19Speaker 2: going well that's baby girl shabba ranks and and and
- 2:26Speaker 2: she didn't look like shabba ranks either so that was
- 2:28Speaker 2: another bit of confusion but no man it's always good
- 2:32Speaker 2: to know man that uh you've affected somebody in a
- 2:35Speaker 2: positive way you never know man you throw a lot
- 2:38Speaker 2: of seeds in the ground and you don't know which
- 2:39Speaker 2: ones are sprouting up man but uh Through God's grace
- 2:43Speaker 2: and mercy, man, I've had a lot of that in
- 2:45Speaker 2: my life, man. And it really gives me great, I
- 2:52Speaker 2: have a great sense of purpose when I hear people
- 2:57Speaker 2: say stuff like that. I think it kind of makes
- 3:00Speaker 2: me think about my mentoring camp, man. If I look
- 3:03Speaker 2: at all the young boys that came to my camp,
- 3:08Speaker 2: who come up to me, who write me, who walk
- 3:12Speaker 2: up to me, I mean, man, at Earn Your Leisure,
- 3:15Speaker 2: just this past year, two of the guys, two guys
- 3:20Speaker 2: from my mentoring camp, one is in real estate now,
- 3:25Speaker 2: and he thanks me all the time for everything I
- 3:27Speaker 2: taught him, because that was his dream. And he said,
- 3:31Speaker 2: nobody never asked him that until I came to your camp.
- 3:35Speaker 2: He's a successful real estate agent now, and the other
- 3:38Speaker 2: kid is in insurance. a huge, listen to me, a
- 3:44Speaker 2: huge insurance guy. I mean, this kid, this kid nets
- 3:49Speaker 2: right at a million dollars a year profit. And, you know,
- 3:53Speaker 2: to talk with these young men and, and hear that, man,
- 3:57Speaker 2: you changed my life. You did this for me, man.
- 4:00Speaker 2: It's hundreds. And that gives you me such a feeling
- 4:04Speaker 2: of purpose, man, and gratitude because I've always asked God
- 4:08Speaker 2: to make my life, I want it to be relevant.
- 4:11Speaker 2: I didn't want to just be funny. I want it
- 4:13Speaker 2: to be relevant. And God gave me that. And I
- 4:17Speaker 2: can tell you that that is only from God. You
- 4:21Speaker 2: don't get to, how can I say this, man? Most
- 4:25Speaker 2: of the really, really big stuff you'll get in your
- 4:27Speaker 2: life is not because you worked hard and you wanted it.
- 4:31Speaker 2: It will be because God graced you with You know, man,
- 4:35Speaker 2: people kill me with this. Yeah, but I worked hard.
- 4:37Speaker 2: I worked hard at it. You know how many people
- 4:39Speaker 2: work hard and have very little to show for it?
- 4:44Speaker 2: Do you know how hard I used to work and
- 4:46Speaker 2: had very little to show for it? Just because you
- 4:50Speaker 2: work hard is not the guarantee that it will always
- 4:54Speaker 2: be right. I'm telling you flat out, y'all, you're going
- 4:57Speaker 2: to need some grace and favor. And grace is only
- 5:02Speaker 2: given out by God. God, let me tell you what
- 5:06Speaker 2: I've learned about grace. Grace is God's unmerited favor. You
- 5:13Speaker 2: know what that means? I had to learn that. Grace
- 5:16Speaker 2: is God's unmerited favor. You know what that means? It's unmerited.
- 5:22Speaker 2: That means you can't earn it, you can't deserve it,
- 5:28Speaker 2: and you can't buy it. It ain't for sale. It
- 5:33Speaker 2: ain't for trade off. So when God gives you grace,
- 5:37Speaker 2: that's his unmerited favor. He just laid it on you.
- 5:44Speaker 2: And that's it, man. Because yeah, I know I work hard.
- 5:47Speaker 2: I got that. I know I'll never give up. I
- 5:50Speaker 2: got all of that. But you know how many people
- 5:52Speaker 2: I know work hard and don't give up? So for
- 5:55Speaker 2: me to be on this end of all of it,
- 5:58Speaker 2: this is crazy. That's how I know it's God's grace.
- 6:02Speaker 2: And I thank God for making me relevant. I asked
- 6:06Speaker 2: him for it, but I didn't know how to do it.
- 6:09Speaker 2: And when he gave me so much of it, I
- 6:12Speaker 2: don't even know where it's coming from. It just show
- 6:14Speaker 2: up in moments like this. And that's another thing. That
- 6:18Speaker 2: ain't nobody but the Lord. That's all that is, y'all.
- 6:22Speaker 2: That ain't nobody but the Lord. That ain't Steve Harvey.
- 6:25Speaker 1: No, sir.
- 6:26Speaker 2: No, sir. I'm clear about that. Feel how you want
- 6:29Speaker 2: to feel, but you need God's grace and favor. Y'all
- 6:33Speaker 2: have a great day.
