Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Welcome back to another episode of Ross and Rizzo Unfiltered.
- 0:03Speaker 1: I'm Anthony Rizzo with my partner, David Ross. The Milwaukee
- 0:09Speaker 1: Brewers are World Series champions, Rossi. Can you believe we
- 0:15Speaker 1: are saying that?
- 0:18Speaker 2: I just got done at the field. That place was
- 0:21Speaker 2: packed with Brewer fans. The whole lower bowl was standing
- 0:25Speaker 2: room only for the trophy presentation. the bars around there
- 0:30Speaker 2: are selling more beer than they've ever sold in their lives.
- 0:34Speaker 2: And the brew crew did it, man. I mean, they
- 0:37Speaker 2: were the best team all year long. I know we
- 0:39Speaker 2: don't see that year in and year out, but they
- 0:42Speaker 2: proved it in the regular season. They were dominant in
- 0:44Speaker 2: the postseason. Congratulations to that organization. Matt Arnold, Pat Murphy,
- 0:51Speaker 2: you know, the list goes on and on. So many
- 0:53Speaker 2: guys well-deserving. They were grinders. They got so many young guys.
- 0:58Speaker 2: They've got young guys up and down the lineup. They
- 1:00Speaker 2: were rookie shortstop. Didn't even start the year in the show.
- 1:04Speaker 2: Rookie shortstop. The Miz was spectacular. Bryce Terang's an absolute stud.
- 1:10Speaker 2: Do not hit it to the right side of the
- 1:11Speaker 2: infield because you are out. Jackson Chirio, 22. The Miz, 24.
- 1:19Speaker 2: It's just, here they come. You know, Luis Lora didn't
- 1:24Speaker 2: have a big... He didn't have a big role in
- 1:27Speaker 2: the postseason, but, I mean, he's an absolute stud, and
- 1:30Speaker 2: he's coming. He's 21. They've got Logan Henderson, who's 24.
- 1:35Speaker 2: Cooper Pratt, 22. I mean, just they're coming. They built
- 1:40Speaker 2: this thing the right way. They've got more guys coming.
- 1:43Speaker 2: Wire to wire. They've got more guys coming. Yep.
- 1:45Speaker 1: They have more guys coming.
- 1:46Speaker 2: Wire to wire.
- 1:48Speaker 1: Best team all season. Like you said, Pat Murphy, congratulations
- 1:51Speaker 1: to you. The owners– Mark Antonacio and his ownership group,
- 1:56Speaker 1: congratulations to them. Matt Arnold, the president of baseball operations,
- 2:00Speaker 1: congratulations to you. And the players, man. These players, they showed,
- 2:07Speaker 1: you were there, but on the broadcast, my favorite part
- 2:12Speaker 1: as a kid growing up, as a kid with a
- 2:15Speaker 1: dream growing up, my favorite part about watching the World Series, always,
- 2:20Speaker 1: and even to this day, I got goosebumps, is the
- 2:23Speaker 1: last out reactions. After they win and they start subbing,
- 2:27Speaker 1: then they go back and the broadcast starts showing every
- 2:31Speaker 1: player's reaction and seeing them throw their hands up and
- 2:35Speaker 1: pump and do whatever they do. It's my favorite part.
- 2:38Speaker 1: I remember yesterday, throwing my hands up in the air,
- 2:42Speaker 1: saluting my dad, saying I'm the champion of the world
- 2:44Speaker 1: because that's what I always said I would do. So
- 2:47Speaker 1: cool to see them, the Brewers, It's so cool to
- 2:51Speaker 1: see them play like kids. That's the joy of it. Ross,
- 2:54Speaker 1: you were on the field, but I don't know if
- 2:56Speaker 1: you saw the interview with Cooper Pratt. It was the
- 3:00Speaker 1: most wholesome thing one can see. He was just like,
- 3:06Speaker 1: I can't believe this. This only took four months. This
- 3:10Speaker 1: is the most fun, the most pressure games I've ever played,
- 3:15Speaker 1: the most fun. I messed up a bunch of times
- 3:17Speaker 1: in this playoffs. My teammates had my back. all of
- 3:20Speaker 1: these guys were just so excited and it couldn't be
- 3:26Speaker 1: happier for Christian Yelich, right?
- 3:28Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah.
- 3:30Speaker 1: As a fan of the game, playing against him for
- 3:32Speaker 1: so many years, respecting what he does every single day,
- 3:35Speaker 1: they give him the captain, Brandon Woodruff, him making this roster,
- 3:40Speaker 1: getting the pitch, you know, I know he gave up
- 3:43Speaker 1: a run, but still just what that means to pitch
- 3:46Speaker 1: in the World Series and be part of it is
- 3:49Speaker 1: something special, so I know the scenes from Milwaukee looked crazy.
- 3:53Speaker 1: That city's going to be– they definitely know how to
- 3:56Speaker 1: drink up there. That's for damn sure, and I'm sure they're.
- 3:59Speaker 2: Going to be celebrating this one. Did you see that
- 4:00Speaker 2: guy climbing? Did you see that shot of the bar
- 4:02Speaker 2: that was going crazy? Did you see that kid climbing
- 4:04Speaker 2: the rafters there? Yeah. What was he doing?
- 4:07Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 4:08Speaker 2: We had fun celebrating the Brewers, and my brother died.
- 4:11Speaker 2: This guy was going way up there. I'm with, I
- 4:14Speaker 2: think Cooper Pratt, I did see, I didn't see the interview,
- 4:17Speaker 2: but when we were on set, they were showing on
- 4:19Speaker 2: the TV, um, leading up to our show, they were
- 4:23Speaker 2: showing some of the highlights and I I'm with you
- 4:25Speaker 2: with the, that's gotta be the best part, the final
- 4:27Speaker 2: out and seeing everybody just get that, that energy release.
- 4:31Speaker 2: But Cooper Pratt yelling at the top of his, well,
- 4:34Speaker 2: you could see the veins in his neck, just so excited,
- 4:37Speaker 2: you know, to, to be so young in the show and,
- 4:41Speaker 2: I mean, bro, he raked these last few games, too.
- 4:44Speaker 2: He had six hits.
- 4:45Speaker 1: He was six for his last six.
- 4:47Speaker 2: That's crazy. That's insane.
- 4:48Speaker 1: The biggest stage.
- 4:50Speaker 2: That's crazy. And the biggest stage when it matters the most. Yeah.
- 4:54Speaker 1: Another massive wholesome moment was William Contreras, right, for a
- 4:59Speaker 1: number of reasons. You see Wilson there, his brother, big leaguer,
- 5:03Speaker 1: just so excited. Straight off a plane from Hawaii. He
- 5:07Speaker 1: was on vacation enjoying his.
- 5:08Speaker 2: Small flex.
- 5:10Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 5:10Speaker 2: Small flex. Yeah, I flew in from Maui.
- 5:15Speaker 1: Yeah. And that moment, right, brothers playing, both brothers in
- 5:21Speaker 1: the big leagues, right? Could have been a potential Red
- 5:24Speaker 1: Sox Brewers World Series. That would have been insane. But
- 5:28Speaker 1: then on the field after, you know, William was on
- 5:33Speaker 1: Team Venezuela when they won the WBC. This journey for
- 5:37Speaker 1: him personally started– You know what I mean?
- 5:39Speaker 2: Winning the championship. I didn't think that.
- 5:41Speaker 1: Everything Venezuela's gone through this year with the earthquakes and
- 5:44Speaker 1: how emotional that's been. And I know, I know, I
- 5:47Speaker 1: definitely know Wilson is so connected to that Venezuelan community
- 5:51Speaker 1: and William too. And he had the Venezuelan flag. So
- 5:54Speaker 1: just a really cool moment post game, seeing him represent
- 5:58Speaker 1: Venezuela and his country and giving them the shout out.
- 6:01Speaker 2: And the emotions that came out from it. You know, I,
- 6:04Speaker 2: Being a catcher, I just always follow that. Congratulations to
- 6:07Speaker 2: him for being World Series MVP. Well-deserved. You could have
- 6:11Speaker 2: picked Aaron Ashby. You could have picked Churio, but I thought.
- 6:16Speaker 1: They gave it to the right guy. Cooper Pratt was
- 6:17Speaker 1: making a late push.
- 6:18Speaker 2: Cooper Pratt, yeah, he made a late push for sure. But,
- 6:21Speaker 2: I mean, he hit. 381 in the World Series. He
- 6:24Speaker 2: had a dominant. I actually thought he could have been
- 6:27Speaker 2: or should have been. Maybe I say could have been
- 6:29Speaker 2: because I was happy Jake Bowers got it, but Could
- 6:32Speaker 2: have been the CS MVP, but he carried that hotness
- 6:35Speaker 2: right into the World Series and hit almost 400, threw
- 6:39Speaker 2: out three guys, blocking balls, plays at the plate, tags,
- 6:44Speaker 2: in the middle of everything, scoring runs, getting hits, challenges,
- 6:48Speaker 2: and leading that step. Every guy, we've said it on here,
- 6:51Speaker 2: but every guy in that bullpen or starter has given
- 6:53Speaker 2: him so much credit for his leadership and being on
- 6:56Speaker 2: the same page. It's so important when you're in the
- 6:59Speaker 2: catcher position. I'm so happy for him and his family.
- 7:02Speaker 2: But he just fell to his knees and just kind
- 7:04Speaker 2: of stayed there for a minute. Like, wow. You know, like,
- 7:07Speaker 2: we did it. The emotion you talked about when he
- 7:10Speaker 2: got to the MVP and, you know, crying. And we
- 7:13Speaker 2: know how emotional Wilson is playing with him. And it
- 7:16Speaker 2: came out of his brother, too, in those moments. Just
- 7:19Speaker 2: super pumped for him. And it's only the seventh catcher
- 7:22Speaker 2: all time to win a World Series MVP. So, shout
- 7:26Speaker 2: out to him. Congrats to him. And I also... I
- 7:28Speaker 2: love that you gave love to Yelly and Woodruff, the
- 7:32Speaker 2: two longest tenured players, the position player side and the
- 7:36Speaker 2: pitching side. Both those guys have been there a long time,
- 7:38Speaker 2: going through some ups and downs, and finally winning a
- 7:42Speaker 2: World Series is pretty special, man. Those guys are connected
- 7:46Speaker 2: for life, brothers for life, and they're such grinders. We
- 7:50Speaker 2: know that feeling, and it never gets old seeing those
- 7:53Speaker 2: guys for the rest of your life. When I see
- 7:55Speaker 2: guys with the Red Sox or I see– our teammates
- 7:58Speaker 2: in Chicago. It just, you pick up right where you
- 8:00Speaker 2: left off. There's so many great memories. So, so happy
- 8:03Speaker 2: for them. There's something about the warm summer air and
- 8:06Speaker 2: a cold Corona with lime that makes the roar of
- 8:08Speaker 2: the crowd sound a lot like the roar of the waves.
- 8:11Speaker 1: That's cause this is our playa and the best seats
- 8:14Speaker 1: are always wherever you're sitting.
- 8:15Speaker 2: Whether it's a weeknight game under the lights or a
- 8:17Speaker 2: Sunday afternoon in the sun, you know, baseball isn't about
- 8:21Speaker 2: rushing around. It's about settling in, letting the game come
- 8:24Speaker 2: to you and nothing pairs better than Than an ice
- 8:27Speaker 2: cold Corona. Nothing.
- 8:29Speaker 1: So find your seat. Your Corona. And your line. Because
- 8:34Speaker 1: real fans know. The only thing better than nine innings.
- 8:37Speaker 1: Is extra innings. Especially on La Playa.
- 8:40Speaker 2: Corona.
- 8:41Speaker 1: La Playa awaits.
- 8:43Speaker 2: The official cerveza of Major League Baseball. Get yours at ordercorona.com.
- 8:48Speaker 2: For 21 plus. Relax responsibly. Corona Extra Beer. Imported by
- 8:53Speaker 2: Crown Imports. Chicago, Illinois. What's up, guys? I need to
- 8:57Speaker 2: tell you about this new prediction market called PolyMarket. It's
- 9:00Speaker 2: the best new way to trade in sports. In the past,
- 9:03Speaker 2: if you wanted action on the game, you put some
- 9:05Speaker 2: money in, and if your team was doing well and
- 9:08Speaker 2: you wanted to cash out, they'd lock the trade and
- 9:10Speaker 2: take a huge fee. But PolyMarket is a prediction market.
- 9:13Speaker 2: It's a stock exchange for sports, buying in and selling
- 9:16Speaker 2: out on your terms. I've tried them all, and PolyMarket
- 9:19Speaker 2: is simply the best prediction market, better than DraftKings, FanDuel, Kalshi,
- 9:24Speaker 2: you name it. They're so confident you'll never go back
- 9:27Speaker 2: to the other guys. They're giving you a free $ 25
- 9:29Speaker 2: on your first trade when you deposit just $ 10. And
- 9:32Speaker 2: now they've launched a new feature, Squads, a group chat
- 9:35Speaker 2: where you can see what everyone is trading. So download
- 9:38Speaker 2: the Polymarket app today and use the code RossRizzo when
- 9:41Speaker 2: you sign up. That's code RossRizzo and get $ 25 free
- 9:46Speaker 2: after you deposit just $ 10.
- 9:48Speaker 1: I can promise you from first-hand experience, it never gets old.
- 9:53Speaker 1: We celebrated our 10-year anniversary of winning in 2016, and
- 9:59Speaker 1: you just still hear the stories. Bro, this is their
- 10:02Speaker 1: first World Series championship in franchise history. So all of
- 10:08Speaker 1: these Brewers fans, all of these fans in Milwaukee, like, bro,
- 10:11Speaker 1: I remember I was thinking when I saw them.
- 10:13Speaker 2: Win, right?
- 10:15Speaker 1: I used to always drive up to Milwaukee for the
- 10:17Speaker 1: most part. And there was this one guy I'm going
- 10:20Speaker 1: to miss on these names, right? Whenever I'd pull in
- 10:24Speaker 1: the parking lot, I'd always stop, roll down my window.
- 10:27Speaker 1: He knew me. I knew him. And we would talk
- 10:29Speaker 1: for like two, three minutes. He was the parking attendant
- 10:32Speaker 1: going into the visiting players lot. And he was just talking.
- 10:36Speaker 1: This is when we were beating up on the Brewers.
- 10:38Speaker 1: And he's, ah, come on, take it easy on us.
- 10:39Speaker 1: You guys can give us a few wins. We need
- 10:41Speaker 1: the help. And I just always looked forward to seeing him.
- 10:44Speaker 1: He was always happy. Always very friendly to me and
- 10:47Speaker 1: my family when we were coming in and out. And
- 10:50Speaker 1: then you roll through there. It was Miller Park at
- 10:53Speaker 1: the time. And the dude that led us in the clubhouse,
- 10:58Speaker 1: I'd always talk to him about sports betting because he
- 11:02Speaker 1: loved talking football and who he had. And I was like, oh, dude,
- 11:05Speaker 1: what do you got? He was really smart. So Phil Rosowitz,
- 11:08Speaker 1: they're visiting clubhouse. Phil, as I was about to say.
- 11:10Speaker 2: I saw him– there's some clips of him in the dugout.
- 11:12Speaker 1: Yeah, I was like, dude, Phil's in the– I was like, damn, Phil's–
- 11:16Speaker 1: I knew– but Ben is now their head clubhouse guy.
- 11:20Speaker 1: Ben used to be the two-man for Phil in the
- 11:24Speaker 1: visiting clubhouse. So a lot of– you just– when you
- 11:27Speaker 1: play against these franchises, your division rivals, you get to
- 11:32Speaker 1: know people in that organization. And they're good people. So
- 11:37Speaker 1: as much as you and I– I mean– I hated
- 11:39Speaker 1: playing the Brewers. I did. And as much as I
- 11:42Speaker 1: hated them, you respect them, and you're happy for those
- 11:44Speaker 1: guys on the inside there. Phil Rosowitz, the visiting clubhouse
- 11:49Speaker 1: manager for the Milwaukee Brewers, I have a couple stories
- 11:51Speaker 1: about him. He gave KB and I our own personal towels.
- 11:58Speaker 1: He got them embroidered, right? I think KB's was like
- 12:01Speaker 1: MVP after he won in 16. He got me a
- 12:04Speaker 1: personally embroidered one. And then every time I would go there, Rossi,
- 12:10Speaker 1: Cubs and Yankees, he'd always make banana bread. He has
- 12:13Speaker 1: the best banana bread in the game. If you're in
- 12:15Speaker 1: Milwaukee and you know Phil, if he makes you banana bread,
- 12:18Speaker 1: you better feel loved because it is elite. So just
- 12:21Speaker 1: seeing those guys, being happy for them is really cool. Bro,
- 12:24Speaker 1: they showed a clip of Ashby running from the bullpen
- 12:28Speaker 1: like Forrest Gump, bro. He had his glove in his hand,
- 12:31Speaker 1: the ball, and he's just like a little kid. I'm
- 12:34Speaker 1: watching with Emily. She's like, oh my God, look at
- 12:36Speaker 1: this guy.
- 12:36Speaker 2: He's so happy.
- 12:38Speaker 1: That's how wholesome... watching felt so just really cool.
- 12:43Speaker 2: I saw the same they they had yelly running out
- 12:46Speaker 2: of the out of the off the bench in that
- 12:48Speaker 2: and if it looked like you know those long strides
- 12:50Speaker 2: he had he couldn't get out there fast enough that
- 12:53Speaker 2: was so cool you said something in that comment and
- 12:56Speaker 2: i don't want to brush over that milwaukee fans are
- 13:00Speaker 2: people there that work there are amazing and i got
- 13:02Speaker 2: to see the door guy while we were doing the
- 13:04Speaker 2: games underneath and we caught up as well and the
- 13:07Speaker 2: back door guy where You go in the back door
- 13:09Speaker 2: to go to the cage. He was there. I don't
- 13:11Speaker 2: remember their names as well. But you said something in that,
- 13:16Speaker 2: and I got a little sad. Do we have to
- 13:18Speaker 2: stop celebrating our 10-year anniversary now if the season's over?
- 13:21Speaker 2: Are we on to the 11th year? Listen, listen.
- 13:25Speaker 1: It's been a nice run this year. I've enjoyed it.
- 13:27Speaker 1: I say this with all due respect. We won the
- 13:30Speaker 1: best championship of all time. But it's not about us.
- 13:32Speaker 1: This is about the Milwaukee Brewers and their fan base.
- 13:36Speaker 1: And also, you've got to give some love to the
- 13:37Speaker 1: Tampa Bay Rays, right? Winning the American League pennant, it's
- 13:40Speaker 1: gut-wrenching to lose, bro. You've never felt it, obviously. I did, unfortunately.
- 13:46Speaker 1: You left as a champion in your last game. I
- 13:47Speaker 1: left as a fucking loser in my last game. It sucks, bro.
- 13:52Speaker 1: You're winning at life.
- 13:54Speaker 2: You're winning at life.
- 13:55Speaker 1: Thank you. But, bro, Christian Jelic, right? Gets traded over there.
- 14:00Speaker 1: On the Marlins, kind of just... Kind of just I
- 14:06Speaker 1: don't want to say suffering on the Marlins because you
- 14:08Speaker 1: go back and look at those Marlins teams. They trade
- 14:10Speaker 1: away Stan. They trade away Ozuna. They have starting pitching, right?
- 14:13Speaker 2: Riomuto. Riomuto was on that team. Riomuto.
- 14:16Speaker 1: And they trade Yelly to the Brewers, and he just–
- 14:21Speaker 1: he already was really good and elite in Miami. Maybe
- 14:24Speaker 1: he got overshadowed by Big G. But then he goes
- 14:27Speaker 1: to Milwaukee, wins an MVP, right? Just keeps putting up
- 14:31Speaker 1: year after year. They reward him with a big contract.
- 14:33Speaker 1: He grinds it out.
- 14:34Speaker 2: I think the next year or the year before the
- 14:36Speaker 2: next year, he finished second. Yeah. He's a stud.
- 14:39Speaker 1: And then doesn't have a, but Pat Murphy realizes what
- 14:43Speaker 1: he means to that team. And they reward him with
- 14:46Speaker 1: the captain, the sea on his chest, like just really
- 14:48Speaker 1: cool storylines. And everyone, I think what fans don't realize
- 14:54Speaker 1: is every single guy in that clubhouse, every single staff
- 14:58Speaker 1: member from the bottom up is on their own journey, right? There's,
- 15:02Speaker 1: Cooper Pratt's a rookie. You have Gary Sanchez, who's the
- 15:06Speaker 1: backup catcher winning his first World Series, right, who is
- 15:10Speaker 1: very loved and respected in that clubhouse. You saw him, what,
- 15:13Speaker 1: get one at bat? Just so many different ends of
- 15:16Speaker 1: the spectrum of someone winning a championship. Aaron Ashby, right,
- 15:20Speaker 1: starter now in the bullpen. So, so many cool storylines
- 15:25Speaker 1: that come out of it.
- 15:26Speaker 2: It was amazing. I got to bring one thing over.
- 15:31Speaker 2: You were talking about our championships. And I love Trevor McGill. Amazing.
- 15:37Speaker 2: Amazing dude. He pitched for me. I love the guy.
- 15:40Speaker 2: But he just won a World Series.
- 15:42Speaker 1: That's exactly what I was just going to say, bro.
- 15:45Speaker 1: He just won a World Series.
- 15:46Speaker 2: Just won a World Series.
- 15:47Speaker 1: What do you have to say to these fans that
- 15:49Speaker 1: are literally at the top of the dugout right now?
- 15:51Speaker 1: Have fun talking shit to Chicago next year.
- 15:54Speaker 2: We have a race.
- 15:59Speaker 1: Trev, come on, man.
- 16:01Speaker 2: Oh, that's so McGill, bro. That's so great. Oh, that
- 16:04Speaker 2: was funny. Catching strays. Just won a World Series. The
- 16:07Speaker 2: Cubbies are catching some strays.
- 16:09Speaker 1: I mean, I look at that as living rent-free in
- 16:12Speaker 1: Brewers fans' heads, but look, they're on top, bro. Like,
- 16:16Speaker 1: that organization right now is... That's... Just, bro, just think
- 16:20Speaker 1: about this. In 2020, David Stearns leaves, right? A few
- 16:25Speaker 1: years ago, you get shit-canned and Craig Council... comes over
- 16:28Speaker 1: to the Cubs. They lose their manager. Matt Arnold takes
- 16:32Speaker 1: over as president. Pat Murphy takes over as manager eventually.
- 16:37Speaker 1: That just shows the strength of that entire organization, right?
- 16:40Speaker 1: You lose your president and you lose your manager who
- 16:42Speaker 1: was there for seven, eight, nine years, right? Like that,
- 16:46Speaker 1: their organization is so deep that every, you know, every
- 16:50Speaker 1: other organization now is knocking on the door saying, all right,
- 16:54Speaker 1: what's making you guys successful? Successful. This is a copycat league.
- 16:58Speaker 1: What are you doing in player development? You guys are
- 17:00Speaker 1: getting guys out of nowhere. You're developing these pitchers. Trevor
- 17:04Speaker 1: McGill was kind of a little journeyman, and now he's
- 17:07Speaker 1: been a dominant closer the last couple years. Bro, they
- 17:10Speaker 1: have the number one prospect on his way up. He's
- 17:12Speaker 1: 19 years old. Jesus Made?
- 17:15Speaker 2: Made. Made. Made. Made.
- 17:18Speaker 1: And they have reinforcements on the way. They have the
- 17:21Speaker 1: number one farm system. This is a testament to that
- 17:23Speaker 1: entire organization from their... god awful spring training complex in
- 17:29Speaker 1: maryville to the big leagues and uh i believe they're
- 17:34Speaker 1: they're complex in the dominican republic is really nice but
- 17:40Speaker 1: it's just a testament from the very bottom to the
- 17:42Speaker 1: very top of how deep that organization is.
- 17:46Speaker 2: Well on that point you know what i said on
- 17:48Speaker 2: air tonight too the impressive part for me you see
- 17:51Speaker 2: teams have good years and then fall off like They've
- 17:55Speaker 2: won the division four years in a row now, right?
- 17:58Speaker 2: And then the first year, get knocked down the wild card.
- 18:02Speaker 2: Second year, knock down the wild card. Third year, they
- 18:05Speaker 2: go to the championship series and get swept. So you're like,
- 18:09Speaker 2: when are they going to get over that hump? Like,
- 18:11Speaker 2: we know they're a good team. We know they've dealt,
- 18:13Speaker 2: but they're taking the steps forward each year. And then
- 18:17Speaker 2: this year, they do the whole dang thing and win
- 18:19Speaker 2: the World Series. So impressive, the steps they've made, the
- 18:24Speaker 2: farm system like you talked about, the youth they have,
- 18:27Speaker 2: how they've drafted and nailing that. It's been really, really
- 18:30Speaker 2: impressive to me.
- 18:31Speaker 1: Bro, Murphy, Pat Murphy was talking about it. How about
- 18:35Speaker 1: Pat Murphy just being an absolute lifer in the game, right?
- 18:39Speaker 1: I remember when he was the interim manager for the Padres,
- 18:44Speaker 1: he was just getting absolutely shit on, right?
- 18:47Speaker 2: Yep.
- 18:49Speaker 1: He, he crawled. So other college coaches can run.
- 18:54Speaker 2: Right.
- 18:54Speaker 1: But so Pat, Pat Murphy, right. In college for so
- 18:59Speaker 1: long has his own kids, has his story about, man,
- 19:02Speaker 1: this isn't about me anymore. Like I'm going to figure
- 19:05Speaker 1: this whole coaching thing out. They did a great piece
- 19:07Speaker 1: on him. And then he becomes a man. He becomes
- 19:11Speaker 1: a bench coach. He, he, he works his way up
- 19:14Speaker 1: in the Padres organization. Then he becomes a bench coach
- 19:16Speaker 1: for Milwaukee. Now he's the manager just, again, another great story.
- 19:21Speaker 1: He's 60, what? He's 70 years old, Murph?
- 19:25Speaker 2: Yeah, I think he's 60. I think he's in his 60s.
- 19:28Speaker 2: I know. I'm pretty sure he's in his 60s. I
- 19:30Speaker 2: know he got his first job at 67. I think,
- 19:34Speaker 2: you know, and two, he's one of those guys that
- 19:36Speaker 2: feels like he's a traditionalist and the mentality he talks about,
- 19:43Speaker 2: the way he talks about this group, When you get
- 19:45Speaker 2: to be a manager, you have the things that are
- 19:48Speaker 2: important to you, but when you have the accountability from
- 19:51Speaker 2: the players and these guys that play with the intensity
- 19:55Speaker 2: and the hustle and the fight and overcoming adversity, which
- 19:59Speaker 2: we know comes in baseball, and these guys just, I think,
- 20:04Speaker 2: embody that, That's who they are, I think, as a group, one,
- 20:07Speaker 2: but also when your manager embodies that and they've kind
- 20:10Speaker 2: of taken on his personality of just no nonsense, no excuses.
- 20:15Speaker 2: This is what's going to happen. I heard a story.
- 20:17Speaker 2: Tim Kirshen told me a story, a really cool story.
- 20:19Speaker 2: I'll probably steal it if I ever get to manage again. Colleague,
- 20:22Speaker 2: not your partner.
- 20:23Speaker 1: Colleague?
- 20:25Speaker 2: Colleague. My colleague, Tim Kirshen, not my partner. But he
- 20:30Speaker 2: told me a story in spring training. He said, hey, listen,
- 20:33Speaker 2: everyday players, You're going to get 550 at-bats. 500 of
- 20:37Speaker 2: those at-bats are yours. But 50 of those at-bats where
- 20:41Speaker 2: they need you to get a guy over, get a
- 20:43Speaker 2: bunt down, hit a sack fly, get a runner from
- 20:47Speaker 2: second to third, do the little things. 50 of those
- 20:50Speaker 2: at-bats are not for me, but for your teammates, for
- 20:53Speaker 2: the organization, for the fans. And I thought that was,
- 20:56Speaker 2: I've never heard it put that way. And it was
- 20:57Speaker 2: so well said. There's an unselfish point in our game
- 21:02Speaker 2: that we have to, sacrifice our at-bats, our stats, the
- 21:07Speaker 2: things that are going to carry us in a free
- 21:09Speaker 2: agency and get us paid to win a baseball game.
- 21:12Speaker 2: And that's probably going to be 50 at-bats, 25 at-bats
- 21:15Speaker 2: for even the big boys, even the guys that are
- 21:17Speaker 2: everyday players. You're going to have to do that to
- 21:20Speaker 2: help us win a ball game. And the fact you
- 21:22Speaker 2: set that standard in spring training and that mentality, I
- 21:25Speaker 2: thought was so well said and so important to winning.
- 21:28Speaker 2: No doubt. I think, too....
- 21:31Speaker 1: It kind of reminded me of us 10, 11 years ago, honestly.
- 21:35Speaker 1: They got swept by the Dodgers last year. And Murph
- 21:40Speaker 1: said it, too, when they lost to the Mets the
- 21:43Speaker 1: year before, right, on the walk-off. And they trade away guys,
- 21:47Speaker 1: and they get swept last year by the Dodgers. Like,
- 21:49Speaker 1: this is– I don't know why. Like, this is– we're
- 21:52Speaker 1: going to learn from this, guys. We're going to get
- 21:54Speaker 1: over the hump. We're going to learn from this. And
- 21:55Speaker 1: you heard Trevor McGill after the game saying, last year
- 21:58Speaker 1: when we got swept– we knew it was a learning
- 22:00Speaker 1: moment and like, this is proof in the pudding right
- 22:03Speaker 1: now that we, we, we got closer last year, them
- 22:06Speaker 1: getting swept. They got closer. That's exactly how we were
- 22:09Speaker 1: in 2015. We got swept by the Mets and we
- 22:11Speaker 1: got closer and we rolled in to spring training in
- 22:14Speaker 1: 2016 and we were wire to wire. We were the
- 22:16Speaker 1: best team in baseball. Now they weren't, they were not
- 22:20Speaker 1: projected to go wire to wire where we were, but
- 22:24Speaker 1: that's just a credit to literally Pat Murphy and his
- 22:27Speaker 1: entire staff, right?
- 22:28Speaker 2: Like, Just grinders. Let's get to our... Let's get to our...
- 22:37Speaker 2: Before we forget, we got to do our Corona Playa.
- 22:41Speaker 1: Playa. Playa, the game. We haven't even talked about him
- 22:45Speaker 1: yet because we've been waiting to talk about him. Jacob Mizorowski.
- 22:49Speaker 1: Got to see the Cy Young version of him tonight. Honestly, Rossi,
- 22:53Speaker 1: we got to see the Cy Young version of him
- 22:55Speaker 1: the entire playoffs. This whole narrative of Oh, he hasn't
- 22:59Speaker 1: been the best. Dude had four starts throughout the playoffs.
- 23:03Speaker 1: They won all of his starts, four or five. He
- 23:06Speaker 1: had a 1-8 ERA. Tonight he goes five and two-thirds,
- 23:10Speaker 1: two hits, no runs. Why is it when you're so
- 23:18Speaker 1: good and you just keep being that good, it's never
- 23:23Speaker 1: good enough in this sport?
- 23:25Speaker 2: Why?
- 23:26Speaker 1: I don't understand that.
- 23:27Speaker 2: Why? Because he didn't throw eight innings every time? Well,
- 23:30Speaker 2: when you're so good, they only see the flaws, right?
- 23:34Speaker 1: What flaws did he have that he only threw five
- 23:37Speaker 1: innings per game?
- 23:37Speaker 2: If I was going to be critical, I'll be critical.
- 23:40Speaker 2: I'll be critical. He only, you know, this is what
- 23:43Speaker 2: people were going to say. Well, he's not striking everybody out. Like,
- 23:46Speaker 2: that's a big deal. Who cares? You don't need to.
- 23:48Speaker 2: I'm with you.
- 23:49Speaker 1: I'm with you.
- 23:49Speaker 2: I'm with you.
- 23:50Speaker 1: If he strikes everyone out, well, you're going to make points,
- 23:52Speaker 1: and I'm going to count you right away. He strikes
- 23:53Speaker 1: every now and then. His pitch counts too high. He's
- 23:56Speaker 1: Blake Snell. He can't go eight innings.
- 23:58Speaker 2: I think he went four innings the first start, four
- 24:00Speaker 2: and a third the second start, and five the third start.
- 24:04Speaker 2: You expect horses to go six, seven innings and punch
- 24:10Speaker 2: out the world, right? That's the standard he set for
- 24:14Speaker 2: fans and media. That's the standard he set during the
- 24:17Speaker 2: regular season. He's the best pitcher in the National League
- 24:19Speaker 2: this year. He's going to win the Cy Young.
- 24:21Speaker 1: He's the best pitcher in the playoffs this year.
- 24:22Speaker 2: I'm not saying it's right. Starter. I'm not saying it's right,
- 24:24Speaker 2: but if I, like the one thing I would say
- 24:28Speaker 2: is like, and we had him on set and he said,
- 24:30Speaker 2: I was trying to be so perfect. I was trying
- 24:33Speaker 2: to do too much. Tonight, he was as poised as
- 24:37Speaker 2: I've seen him in the postseason. He handled the biggest
- 24:40Speaker 2: moment he's ever been in his life at 24 years old.
- 24:44Speaker 2: And all the things that he's done all year, he
- 24:46Speaker 2: handled it with such poise and grace and put that
- 24:48Speaker 2: team on his back and said, know what, boys? I've
- 24:51Speaker 2: got you. And he would have pitched at least six.
- 24:54Speaker 2: He was one out away from going a complete six
- 24:57Speaker 2: innings until he had the calf thing pop up. But
- 25:02Speaker 2: that's the thing I think people get caught up in.
- 25:04Speaker 2: It's like we've seen all these other things. And part
- 25:06Speaker 2: of that is we've seen other guys just go deeper.
- 25:09Speaker 2: Part of that narrative is Pat Murphy has a military
- 25:14Speaker 2: full of arms down the bullpen that he was rolling out.
- 25:18Speaker 2: I mean, seven guys down there that have been absolutely
- 25:21Speaker 2: dominant in the postseason. So I'm with you. It's never enough.
- 25:26Speaker 2: I definitely agree with you on that statement. But what
- 25:29Speaker 2: I would say is that you expect the Cy Young
- 25:31Speaker 2: Award winner and one of the best pitchers in baseball.
- 25:36Speaker 2: to be a little, go a little bit deeper is
- 25:38Speaker 2: what I would say in, you know, the command was
- 25:41Speaker 2: a little bit off. He threw the, he, I saw
- 25:44Speaker 2: a stat on our ESPN. Go ahead. Go ahead.
- 25:46Speaker 1: You saw a stat on ESPN?
- 25:47Speaker 2: No, I just mean for like, like navigating, navigating, watching
- 25:51Speaker 2: him pitch. It just wasn't the same guy. We did
- 25:53Speaker 2: a couple of his games this year for ESPN. Just
- 25:55Speaker 2: wasn't the same guy. And I think part of that, like, again,
- 25:58Speaker 2: we have to give credit. The Rays were the best
- 26:00Speaker 2: team at baseball putting the ball in play as a contact.
- 26:03Speaker 2: I think it was the second best contact team in
- 26:04Speaker 2: the game, I think, or first. Um, you know, that's
- 26:07Speaker 2: the only thing I'm not criticizing him. I'm just trying
- 26:10Speaker 2: to explain to my partner where all that.
- 26:13Speaker 1: No, no, I understand that. It's just, you know, everyone's like, Oh,
- 26:17Speaker 1: he's going to learn from this. It's what is he
- 26:19Speaker 1: learning from?
- 26:20Speaker 2: Right.
- 26:21Speaker 1: That he didn't go an extra he's he's on 50
- 26:24Speaker 1: plus extra innings of workload. This dude is second. It's his,
- 26:30Speaker 1: I believe it's his first full season in the big leagues.
- 26:34Speaker 2: It is. You know what I mean?
- 26:36Speaker 1: And he's pitching the last game of the season. He's
- 26:39Speaker 1: pitching massive games for his team, right? None of the
- 26:43Speaker 1: Brewers starters went deep. So, I don't know, man.
- 26:47Speaker 2: Like, I love... I understand. You want to see Brayden...
- 26:55Speaker 2: I love when I was catching and guys are trying
- 26:58Speaker 2: to attack Jon Lester earlier and they're popping balls up
- 27:00Speaker 2: and his pitch count's low and We got soft contact.
- 27:04Speaker 2: Who cares about strikeouts? We got low kind. He can
- 27:06Speaker 2: go deeper with that bullpen getting used yesterday. He was
- 27:10Speaker 2: so efficient today. I thought, like I said this a
- 27:13Speaker 2: couple times about him, I just thought his poise grew
- 27:17Speaker 2: each and every start. He's so young. I thought on
- 27:21Speaker 2: the big stage, it just felt like a little jumpy
- 27:23Speaker 2: and antsy, and he was able to calm himself down.
- 27:25Speaker 2: I think William Contreras, he mentioned, talked to him about
- 27:28Speaker 2: not trying to be so perfect and just try to
- 27:30Speaker 2: execute each pitch. Because he's got... I saw a stat
- 27:32Speaker 2: where he threw the most pitches over 100 miles per
- 27:37Speaker 2: hour ever in a World Series.
- 27:39Speaker 1: Bro, his first 24 of his first 26 pitches were
- 27:44Speaker 1: all over 100 miles an hour. I was watching this game,
- 27:47Speaker 1: and I go, God damn. I'm like, what the fuck?
- 27:51Speaker 2: What the fuck? Again. And that's the other thing I
- 27:56Speaker 2: loved about his start was he came out and he's like,
- 27:59Speaker 2: you know what? I'm pumping heaters. I've got great stuff.
- 28:02Speaker 2: I'm going to move it around the zone, in, out.
- 28:04Speaker 2: And he didn't even break out his off-speed stuff until
- 28:07Speaker 2: I think second time through the lineup. Yeah.
- 28:11Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, just– and that's why he's our Corona
- 28:14Speaker 1: player of the game. Corona, thank you for being such
- 28:18Speaker 1: a great partner to us. Bro, the Brewers bullpen, 65 innings,
- 28:25Speaker 1: a 1-3 ERA, second lowest ERA by any bullpen in
- 28:30Speaker 1: postseason history. Only team to ever get to the World
- 28:33Speaker 1: Series where no starter recorded a win in the playoffs, right?
- 28:38Speaker 1: They made– their defense wasn't great.
- 28:42Speaker 2: It was good.
- 28:42Speaker 1: It wasn't great to the playoffs. They got their first
- 28:45Speaker 1: win by a starter in the World Series. That's how
- 28:48Speaker 1: good their bullpen was.
- 28:50Speaker 2: No doubt. No doubt. They blew them all out yesterday.
- 28:54Speaker 2: Both teams made some mistakes. They're good defensive teams. But
- 28:58Speaker 2: I think the one thing that I also marveled at,
- 29:00Speaker 2: there were some amazing plays made this World Series. You
- 29:05Speaker 2: know what I mean?
- 29:05Speaker 1: Like a lot of mistakes. Bryce Terang made second base
- 29:07Speaker 1: look like it was– he put on a clinic.
- 29:11Speaker 2: A clinic. And Jake Bowers made a great dive and
- 29:14Speaker 2: stop to the early game, save and run.
- 29:17Speaker 1: That play by Bowers– Playing first base, a right-handed hitter
- 29:23Speaker 1: hitting a ball to your left side at first is
- 29:27Speaker 1: so rare. And the fact that he got that good
- 29:30Speaker 1: of a jump off that was, I was like, damn,
- 29:33Speaker 1: that's a nice play right there.
- 29:34Speaker 2: And that was a lead-off hit.
- 29:36Speaker 1: That would have been a lead-off double.
- 29:37Speaker 2: That's a double. If Vlade hit that, that would have
- 29:39Speaker 2: been a lead-off double.
- 29:40Speaker 1: And then another one in the game was Bryce Terang
- 29:45Speaker 1: when he was on second base. I forget who was hitting,
- 29:49Speaker 1: but it was a line drive over the second baseman's head.
- 29:51Speaker 1: Terang got a great jump on that. It's a tiny
- 29:55Speaker 1: little thing that really you're not going to see in
- 29:56Speaker 1: the box score, but if he would have froze on that,
- 30:00Speaker 1: The third base coach is holding them. It's a different outcome.
- 30:04Speaker 1: So a lot of really good baseball in this, which was– look,
- 30:08Speaker 1: the product of baseball is better than it's ever been.
- 30:12Speaker 1: I know there's a lot of talk about the three
- 30:16Speaker 1: true outcomes and the way baseball was played 20 years
- 30:18Speaker 1: ago and all this yada, yada, yada. These dudes are
- 30:21Speaker 1: competing at the highest level with the best stuff. They're
- 30:24Speaker 1: hitting the balls the farthest they've ever hit it. There's
- 30:26Speaker 1: more home runs. There's more stolen bases. Guys are more
- 30:30Speaker 1: athletic now with no shift. It's a beautiful brand of baseball.
- 30:34Speaker 1: The Milwaukee Brewers are the kings of all of it
- 30:38Speaker 1: in the 2026 season.
- 30:41Speaker 2: Bro, you know a stat I got off the TV today,
- 30:45Speaker 2: or I think it was a radio as we were
- 30:47Speaker 2: listening underneath. The Brewers hadn't lost back-to-back games yet. since
- 30:51Speaker 2: freaking Labor Day weekend. Think about how long ago that was, bro.
- 30:57Speaker 2: That feels like two years ago. That feels like before
- 31:00Speaker 2: we won the World Series. My God, of all we
- 31:02Speaker 2: went through, these guys have been on an absolute roll.
- 31:05Speaker 2: And it's because of that bullpen, bro. Second lowest ERA
- 31:08Speaker 2: all-time postseason bullpen ERA. Like, that's insane. Like, and those guys,
- 31:13Speaker 2: it was one guy after another. Didn't matter whose number
- 31:17Speaker 2: he called. Down there, man, that's why they won the
- 31:20Speaker 2: World Series, in my opinion. No doubt.
- 31:23Speaker 1: Yeah, because their starters didn't go deep, and you need
- 31:26Speaker 1: your starters to go a little deeper than four, five,
- 31:30Speaker 1: six innings, right? At least one or two of them. So, yeah,
- 31:33Speaker 1: I mean, and they're just relentless offense. They're relentless. They
- 31:38Speaker 1: were just– they got punched. They responded right away.
- 31:42Speaker 2: Right away. It was like– Jackson's cheerio offense. 22 years old,
- 31:47Speaker 2: 11 hits in the World Series, second most hits in
- 31:51Speaker 2: the first five games of World Series ever. Like, we've
- 31:54Speaker 2: already said it, but the dude's coming, bro. They've got, like,
- 31:58Speaker 2: it's a fun time to be a Brewers fan.
- 32:01Speaker 1: Fun time to be a Brewers fan, for sure. The
- 32:03Speaker 1: party now is just getting going, too. Those guys, like
- 32:07Speaker 1: you said, are brothers for life. It's a special bond.
- 32:12Speaker 1: You saw Robin Yowt there. celebrating there with Yellich, which
- 32:16Speaker 1: was awesome.
- 32:20Speaker 2: As soon as we get off, I'm going to the
- 32:21Speaker 2: team hotel. I'm going to find their team hotel. I'm
- 32:24Speaker 2: partying all night. Let's go. Don't tempt me with a
- 32:29Speaker 2: good time, Brew Crew.
- 32:30Speaker 1: Bro, they should. We may have to cut this part out,
- 32:36Speaker 1: but they should fucking give you a ring. You're the
- 32:38Speaker 1: sacrificial lamb. You got canned, so the council goes over there.
- 32:42Speaker 1: Who knows if they actually win with it. You know,
- 32:44Speaker 1: it's a whole thing, like, right?
- 32:47Speaker 2: We're not going down that road. We're not going down
- 32:49Speaker 2: that road. Let's get us some ball bags.
- 32:52Speaker 1: We got our boy Kenny Chesney going on tour next summer, Rossi.

- 35:18Speaker 1: Email us at rossi.gmail.com. Leave us a comment on YouTube,
- 35:22Speaker 1: through our socials. We absolutely love this segment. Email from
- 35:26Speaker 1: Braden Hutchcroft. Hey, the Brewers just won it all at
- 35:30Speaker 1: the Trop. What was it like winning it all in
- 35:32Speaker 1: an opposing stadium and the celebration and just the whole
- 35:36Speaker 1: night afterwards? Was it tough being in another city Go Cubs. Brayden,
- 35:43Speaker 1: I was watching this game with my wife, and when
- 35:47Speaker 1: they were popping the confetti and doing all the lights
- 35:52Speaker 1: or the smoke behind them and the flames, I was like, damn,
- 35:56Speaker 1: that's one thing we missed, right? Because it rained right
- 36:00Speaker 1: after our game. So we did our post-game celebration in the.
- 36:03Speaker 2: And it was fucking packed in that locker room with
- 36:06Speaker 2: so many people. As it should be. As it should be.
- 36:09Speaker 1: But it was really– I personally loved clinching on the
- 36:15Speaker 1: road because everyone was together. There was no going your
- 36:19Speaker 1: separate ways, right? At home, at the end of the day,
- 36:23Speaker 1: when it's all said and done and you shower, you're
- 36:25Speaker 1: going to your house. For us, we were going to
- 36:27Speaker 1: Lester's house all the time. But most teams, you know,
- 36:32Speaker 1: you go your own way. You end up in your
- 36:33Speaker 1: own bed. There, clinching in Cleveland– Everyone was getting on
- 36:37Speaker 1: that bus. Everyone was getting on that plane. You got
- 36:40Speaker 1: to celebrate longer. We didn't get home until, what, 5.30
- 36:44Speaker 1: in the morning?
- 36:44Speaker 2: It was early.
- 36:46Speaker 1: It was really, really special. I feel like the bond
- 36:51Speaker 1: was just... The story was ending, and you got to
- 36:55Speaker 1: all end it together, and no one got to leave early.
- 36:59Speaker 1: No one got to Irish goodbye. No doubt.
- 37:01Speaker 2: I would say... I've gotten to do both and the
- 37:06Speaker 2: Red Sox hadn't clinched at home in a long time.
- 37:08Speaker 2: We got to do in 13. That was just as amazing. So,
- 37:11Speaker 2: you know, we all went to the same bar and
- 37:14Speaker 2: you're right. Nobody kind of disappears when you're, when you're home,
- 37:18Speaker 2: you've got a little more family, not so much travel.
- 37:20Speaker 2: Somebody staying home with the kids or stuff like that.
- 37:23Speaker 2: So when you got little ones, my mom and dad
- 37:25Speaker 2: stayed back with our newborn and my, just my, my
- 37:29Speaker 2: son and daughter, my oldest two traveled with us. So, Um,
- 37:32Speaker 2: but I, I would totally agree with your statement. Like my,
- 37:34Speaker 2: I think my favorite part of the celebration in Chicago
- 37:39Speaker 2: was the plane ride back with everybody. Everybody's kids. My
- 37:42Speaker 2: daughter's in the back, Lester and lackey are yelling show
- 37:45Speaker 2: kids and giving everybody out, giving all the eight year
- 37:48Speaker 2: olds hundreds and sending them back up. I'm like, where
- 37:51Speaker 2: did you get that money? And they're like, Mr. Lester, Mr.
- 37:53Speaker 2: Lackey gave you a hundred dollar bills, just throw them around. So, um,
- 37:58Speaker 2: it was fun. He had like Theo and a dip
- 38:00Speaker 2: riding the, riding the beverage cart down as we take off. Like,
- 38:04Speaker 2: it was insane. It was a good party, and we
- 38:07Speaker 2: were all in that little bubble together. And another part,
- 38:12Speaker 2: when we landed and got on the buses and we
- 38:14Speaker 2: got the spray of all the, I forget what it's called,
- 38:17Speaker 2: but all the fire trucks at the airport spraying the buses. Bro,
- 38:21Speaker 2: you know I heard. Nothing cooler than that.
- 38:25Speaker 1: Look, I never knew. I never won. I didn't know
- 38:27Speaker 1: that this was even a thing, right? The salute when
- 38:30Speaker 1: you land. I guess you're supposed to salute them back
- 38:33Speaker 1: and thank them and get off. And I think I
- 38:36Speaker 1: heard down the grapevine years later that the fire department
- 38:41Speaker 1: was annoyed at us that we didn't salute them back
- 38:43Speaker 1: in Chicago.
- 38:43Speaker 2: Oh, shoot.
- 38:45Speaker 1: I know, which I'm sorry. Thank you, guys. But my
- 38:47Speaker 1: response was, well, we've never won, so I don't think
- 38:50Speaker 1: any of us knew how to do it.
- 38:52Speaker 2: Let's run it back. Let's run it back. Let's throw
- 38:55Speaker 2: another party. Let's throw another party. We'll get on some
- 38:57Speaker 2: buses and head to the airport. Yeah, I don't ever
- 39:00Speaker 2: want to disrespect the first responders for sure because that
- 39:02Speaker 2: was one of the coolest things I've ever seen. The
- 39:05Speaker 2: buses driving down the airport and these guys got the
- 39:08Speaker 2: water spraying over from the fire trucks at the airport.
- 39:11Speaker 2: It was just so cool. All right, next email from Andy.
- 39:15Speaker 2: You've both done it. What is the feeling truly like
- 39:18Speaker 2: when you record the final out and are officially a
- 39:21Speaker 2: World Series champion? I got to catch the last out.
- 39:25Speaker 2: Thank you, Andy, with the Red Sox and You're just hoping.
- 39:30Speaker 2: to get that out for me. You're thinking through everything.
- 39:32Speaker 2: And when you finally catch it, the overwhelming, I mean,
- 39:35Speaker 2: this is just what I thought. I had come back
- 39:38Speaker 2: from a long layoff with concussions that year. I literally
- 39:42Speaker 2: thanked God, thanked the umpire, and I couldn't wait to
- 39:45Speaker 2: get to Koji and him jumping my arms and the
- 39:47Speaker 2: boys celebrate like, It was so great. Johnny Gomes caught
- 39:51Speaker 2: the first two outs of the inning, and I'm like,
- 39:53Speaker 2: all right, one more. Let's just hit it to him.
- 39:55Speaker 2: He's sure-handed out there. Like, I don't care how we
- 39:58Speaker 2: get it. And Koji threw a nasty splitter to Carpenter,
- 40:03Speaker 2: and that was my emotion. And then just everybody's coming
- 40:06Speaker 2: to you, which was really cool. Like, as we're pitcher
- 40:09Speaker 2: and catcher, you've seen so many moments, and he just
- 40:12Speaker 2: jumps in my arm. I've never held another man so high,
- 40:15Speaker 2: and he felt so light. In that moment, it was
- 40:18Speaker 2: a really, really special, cool moment for me. Other than
- 40:23Speaker 2: in Cleveland, I was trying to get over the rail.
- 40:25Speaker 2: My spike was caught on the dang chicken wire in
- 40:28Speaker 2: front of the rail. I couldn't get out there fast enough.
- 40:30Speaker 2: I was having my grandpa moment. You showed your age.
- 40:32Speaker 2: I did. You showed your age.
- 40:34Speaker 1: Yeah, for me, when we won, it's just everything comes at,
- 40:40Speaker 1: everything came at me hard right away. There's so much
- 40:43Speaker 1: that goes into that moment of catching that final out
- 40:47Speaker 1: from KB, that your first initial thought is the boys,
- 40:54Speaker 1: the guys that you just were in the trenches with,
- 40:57Speaker 1: starting out at spring training, that goal, and winning with
- 41:00Speaker 1: them and being excited with them, and you go and
- 41:03Speaker 1: dogpile with them. I throw my hands up as a
- 41:06Speaker 1: tribute to my dad from when I was a kid,
- 41:08Speaker 1: but then you go and you start celebrating, you give
- 41:10Speaker 1: them the big hugs, and then immediately you start thinking
- 41:12Speaker 1: of your family and everyone there and what it took
- 41:15Speaker 1: for you to get to that point and how much
- 41:18Speaker 1: they've supported you along the way, how much the other
- 41:20Speaker 1: families there supported you, all coaches throughout your professional career,
- 41:26Speaker 1: your collegiate career, your amateur career, right? High school, travel ball,
- 41:32Speaker 1: every person that went into it, it hit me thinking
- 41:35Speaker 1: of them and the journey I was on, right? So
- 41:38Speaker 1: it's just, it's the best feeling in the world.
- 41:40Speaker 2: When you're doing the little dog pile and everybody finally
- 41:43Speaker 2: gets up, you go around to every, like when you
- 41:46Speaker 2: turn around, you see another teammate that you're so happy for.
- 41:49Speaker 2: And there's so much, there's just love going out everywhere.
- 41:52Speaker 2: And it's like, I saw Lester and obviously that's special.
- 41:54Speaker 2: I see you, I see ski, you know, who I
- 41:57Speaker 2: play with and is now a coach with me. You know,
- 42:00Speaker 2: you see stropey and like just, Oh, Miggy, my, my,
- 42:03Speaker 2: my catching partner, Wilson, who's a rookie. Like it just
- 42:07Speaker 2: so much love and everybody you turn around, you're like,
- 42:10Speaker 2: Oh yeah. And you just go crazy all over again. Like,
- 42:13Speaker 2: like I'm trying, I hug KB and we're just telling
- 42:16Speaker 2: them like how happy I was. And like, I've got
- 42:18Speaker 2: tears in my eyes talking to him and his ears.
- 42:21Speaker 2: Just like, it's, it's, that's my favorite part. Like, you know,
- 42:25Speaker 2: the dog pile to make it out there, but then
- 42:26Speaker 2: you just turn to every guy and it's all over again.
- 42:29Speaker 2: You're just so happy for them. And that connection that
- 42:32Speaker 2: you have with a brother that you went on this
- 42:35Speaker 2: long journey with and finishes world champs.
- 42:37Speaker 1: Christian Yelich said it post-game in an interview. He said,
- 42:42Speaker 1: I just wish everyone could experience this feeling because it's
- 42:45Speaker 1: the best. As a professional baseball player, as a major
- 42:48Speaker 1: league baseball player, you grow up, every single big leaguer
- 42:53Speaker 1: had the dream, right? Bottom of the ninth, two outs,
- 42:57Speaker 1: World Series, hit the home run in your backyard, or
- 43:00Speaker 1: you make the big pitch to win the World Series.
- 43:02Speaker 1: And that dream, that little kid's dream, Trevor McGill said
- 43:05Speaker 1: it too, that the 10-year-old me would be so proud
- 43:07Speaker 1: of myself right now. That's the feeling. You just bottle
- 43:11Speaker 1: it up and you never, ever forget it. It's been
- 43:15Speaker 1: 10 years. I remember it like it was yesterday. Last
- 43:18Speaker 1: question from email from John Macy. What's up, guys? Rizzo,
- 43:23Speaker 1: is there any meaning behind the Horns Up celebration? You
- 43:27Speaker 1: would always throw up with the Yankees. I know you
- 43:29Speaker 1: didn't go to Texas, so I was wondering if there's
- 43:31Speaker 1: a good backstory with it. There's a picture here with
- 43:34Speaker 1: you and Glaber. That means I love you. Sign language.
- 43:39Speaker 2: I love you.
- 43:39Speaker 1: I'm trying to teach my son that right now. He
- 43:43Speaker 1: smiles when I do it to him, so it feels good.
- 43:45Speaker 1: But yeah, when I would hit a home run there
- 43:48Speaker 1: in New York, I'd always give the I love you
- 43:49Speaker 1: up to family section to my wife or to her seats.
- 43:52Speaker 1: We had season tickets there.
- 43:54Speaker 2: And then Glaber.
- 43:56Speaker 1: Started doing it every time I did it, and then
- 43:58Speaker 1: we started doing it on the camera, and it just
- 44:01Speaker 1: became a thing. Glaber and I were really close. I
- 44:03Speaker 1: was close with everyone on the Yankees, but that's the
- 44:05Speaker 1: back story to it.
- 44:07Speaker 2: J.A. used to do that a lot. Chipper did that
- 44:10Speaker 2: to his family when he did homework.
- 44:12Speaker 1: Bryce Harper does it. A lot of guys do. Well,
- 44:15Speaker 1: now guys are doing a thousand different things, but that
- 44:19Speaker 1: was my one little thing, especially.
- 44:21Speaker 2: In New York. Rossi. Good picture. Good picture of you
- 44:24Speaker 2: and Glaber.
- 44:25Speaker 1: Rossi, how much fun has this been, man? Like, for
- 44:30Speaker 1: us personally, we want to thank everyone for listening, but
- 44:34Speaker 1: we got to do our 10-year World Series reunion, the
- 44:38Speaker 1: Love War reunion, and interview all the guys. And now
- 44:42Speaker 1: getting to talk baseball first weekly, then biweekly, and now
- 44:47Speaker 1: always on, it's just been more fun every single night.
- 44:52Speaker 1: Getting to talk the game, getting to dive deep into guys'
- 44:55Speaker 1: lives maybe like I have to admit, I wasn't as
- 44:58Speaker 1: familiar with and getting to see these stars become stars.
- 45:03Speaker 1: It's been so much fun, Rossi. And couldn't think of
- 45:07Speaker 1: a better partner to do it. We are in the
- 45:11Speaker 1: works right now of lining up some post season, post season.
- 45:18Speaker 1: So off season, I'm sorry, off season interviews. So, You
- 45:22Speaker 1: guys email us. Let us know in the comments who
- 45:24Speaker 1: you think we should interview. We're definitely going to stick
- 45:27Speaker 1: with some baseball, current baseball players, former guys. Venture out
- 45:31Speaker 1: into the music world, hopefully other sports. Get some cross
- 45:36Speaker 1: sports coming in. So it would be really cool to
- 45:38Speaker 1: hear you guys' feedback on who you think we should interview.
- 45:40Speaker 1: But I'm looking forward to that part of our show
- 45:43Speaker 1: too and getting to know guys and getting to hear
- 45:45Speaker 1: their story and why they're great at what they do.
- 45:48Speaker 1: I love telling people's stories. I love learning about people's stories.
- 45:52Speaker 1: And because everyone's on their own journey, but man, Ross,
- 45:55Speaker 1: this has been so much fun. Congratulations to the Milwaukee Brewers. Rossi.
- 46:02Speaker 1: Couldn't couldn't think of a couldn't thank you enough for
- 46:05Speaker 1: being my partner.
- 46:07Speaker 2: And buddy, I reiterate to the fans everything that you
- 46:10Speaker 2: just said, and it's fun to come. You know, I
- 46:12Speaker 2: don't know if I can call this work, but it's
- 46:14Speaker 2: fun to get on this screen every day and I get.
- 46:18Speaker 2: I get about an hour with you pretty regularly here lately,
- 46:21Speaker 2: and I'm really enjoying it. So hopefully we'll hit the
- 46:24Speaker 2: golf course here soon. We've got more content coming, more
- 46:28Speaker 2: great interviews, and some of our friends and connections we've
- 46:31Speaker 2: been able to meet. Breaking news. Breaking news, yep. Could
- 46:34Speaker 2: be a long.
- 46:35Speaker 1: Winter, I think 34 days away from December 1st, which
- 46:40Speaker 1: could be a lockout. I'm sure there's going to be
- 46:43Speaker 1: free agent signings along the way. We'll be releasing interviews
- 46:46Speaker 1: along the way. And just a massive, massive, before we
- 46:51Speaker 1: sign off, Rossi, shout out to our producer, Chris Tran.
- 46:55Speaker 1: He's been with us grinding every night. It's 2 o'clock
- 46:59Speaker 1: in the morning right now. We stay up every night.
- 47:01Speaker 2: We grind.
- 47:02Speaker 1: Chris grinds to get the content out in the morning.
- 47:06Speaker 1: Thank you to Chris. Thank you to the volume, our production.
- 47:09Speaker 2: Thank you to the volume.
- 47:10Speaker 1: All our sponsors. Learned a lot and more to come.
- 47:15Speaker 1: Rizzo Ross for the last time in the 2026 season.
- 47:21Speaker 1: We are out. Congratulations to the Milwaukee Brewers one last time.
- 47:25Speaker 2: Rizzo Ross. Peace.
