- 0:06Speaker 1: Hey everybody, this is Anthony Michael Hall, and you're listening
- 0:08Speaker 1: to my friends Brian J.
- 0:10Speaker 2: And Misty on Movie Meltdown. Don't touch that dial.
- 0:19Speaker 3: This episode is rated M for Misty. Yes, that's right,
- 0:22Speaker 3: this is a Misty episode, so it will be laced
- 0:24Speaker 3: with profanity even more than usual. If you're not comfortable
- 0:28Speaker 3: with this level of profanity, perhaps this isn't the episode
- 0:31Speaker 3: for you. But we have many other episodes to choose
- 0:33Speaker 3: from that do not feature Misty, and will probably be
- 0:35Speaker 3: far less offensive. Okay, maybe. That having been said, on
- 0:40Speaker 3: with the show.
- 0:41Speaker 1: It's showtime.
- 0:42Speaker 4: Our nuclear reactor.
- 0:44Speaker 5: Pumping out one million kilowatts of power.
- 1:15Speaker 2: What's up and.
- 1:29Speaker 1: Welcome to Movie Meltdown. I'm Brian.
- 1:31Speaker 6: I'm Misty.
- 1:32Speaker 4: And I'm Jay.
- 1:33Speaker 1: And we're coming to you live via digital recording from
- 1:35Speaker 1: the outskirts of Days of the Dead, Louisville.
- 1:37Speaker 6: Hells yeah we are.
- 1:39Speaker 1: We've had an interesting run through already. We have.
- 1:43Speaker 6: I was slightly disappointed. I've been to the convention, but
- 1:46Speaker 6: it seems like every other convention we've been to, there
- 1:48Speaker 6: have been a shit ton of enamel pins. And now
- 1:50Speaker 6: that I'm like, I need all the enamel pins, there
- 1:52Speaker 6: was a lacking of pins that I don't already have.
- 1:56Speaker 1: It has been your new obsession.
- 1:57Speaker 6: I do. I have many obsessions, but this is my newest. Somewhat,
- 2:00Speaker 6: I guess.
- 2:01Speaker 1: You didn't see the ones, but they were the ones
- 2:03Speaker 1: you got from the last time, right?
- 2:05Speaker 4: That was one of.
- 2:06Speaker 6: Those other conventions. I love enamel pins. So fucking fascinating.
- 2:12Speaker 1: I saw my favorite people's, PJ Souls.
- 2:16Speaker 6: She's so adorable.
- 2:17Speaker 1: Just want to hug her. Is that uncalled for?
- 2:19Speaker 6: I'm just happy that she's one of those who's kept
- 2:21Speaker 6: her prices reasonable. I mean, 20 bucks for an autograph
- 2:23Speaker 6: and a photo.
- 2:24Speaker 1: That's pretty awesome.
- 2:25Speaker 6: You know, everybody else is like, oh no, all the monies.
- 2:28Speaker 6: And I'm like, oh no, you.
- 2:29Speaker 4: Know what, PJ?
- 2:29Speaker 6: She's pretty cool.
- 2:30Speaker 1: She's cool anyway, but even more so, that kind of adds.
- 2:34Speaker 1: Just stacks on more cool.
- 2:36Speaker 6: She's not batshit crazy like Gary Busey.
- 2:39Speaker 1: Yeah, we didn't. Just sort of wander past him and
- 2:43Speaker 1: just keep moving.
- 2:43Speaker 4: He's looking really frazzled.
- 2:46Speaker 1: Don't make direct eye contact. Just keep moving.
- 2:48Speaker 6: That's my rule like most of the population of the world.
- 2:51Speaker 1: That's true, but extra when it's Gary Busey.
- 2:53Speaker 4: It looks like Weekend at Busey. Seriously looks like he's
- 2:56Speaker 4: dead and they just, you know, like.
- 2:59Speaker 6: We're at Days of the Dead.
- 3:01Speaker 4: Yeah, we are at Days of the Dead.
- 3:02Speaker 1: I think we could fund that, though.
- 3:03Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 3:04Speaker 1: Weekend at Busey. I think we could put this together.
- 3:06Speaker 4: Like, really, he's just kind of like taped to his handler.
- 3:09Speaker 4: He's got his arms.
- 3:10Speaker 6: Jake is secretly wearing his dead skin.
- 3:13Speaker 1: Jake was cool. What little run-ins we've had with Jake
- 3:17Speaker 1: years ago. He seemed pretty cool, but his dad, he
- 3:20Speaker 1: seems special.
- 3:22Speaker 6: Unhinged is one of those things that I'm pretty sure
- 3:24Speaker 6: is going to be involved in some kind of news
- 3:26Speaker 6: article in the near future that involves Gary Busey.
- 3:29Speaker 1: Yeah, can't argue that. Tony Todd. I like Tony Todd.
- 3:33Speaker 1: We saw him and Ernie Hudson. All kinds of cool people.
- 3:36Speaker 6: Yeah, we saw, we passed Ernie Hudson talking to James
- 3:38Speaker 6: O'Barr and I was just like, hey, I wonder what
- 3:40Speaker 6: they're talking about. Crow. You think so?
- 3:43Speaker 7: Probably.
- 3:45Speaker 1: No, I don't know.
- 3:47Speaker 6: I didn't realize how many people from The Crow they
- 3:49Speaker 6: had here this year.
- 3:50Speaker 1: It was our union.
- 3:50Speaker 4: Wait a minute, who all did they have from The Crow?
- 3:52Speaker 6: Well, they had batshit crazy Bayling.
- 3:54Speaker 1: Who we didn't even see.
- 3:55Speaker 8: Really?
- 3:55Speaker 1: She was wandering around somewhere.
- 3:56Speaker 6: She was back in the corner but not there. Her
- 3:57Speaker 6: table wasn't back in the corner.
- 3:58Speaker 4: Oh, I didn't see her.
- 3:59Speaker 6: You had to pay extra for the nudie pictures.
- 4:03Speaker 1: Would she take those with her? I don't know.
- 4:05Speaker 6: I wouldn't doubt it.
- 4:05Speaker 1: At the table?
- 4:06Speaker 6: She's probably naked in there right now.
- 4:07Speaker 9: Who knows?
- 4:08Speaker 1: We missed that room. Wait a minute.
- 4:10Speaker 6: I think she was in the photo op room, so
- 4:12Speaker 6: there was all kinds of shit going on there.
- 4:13Speaker 1: Photo op. Tony Todd. That's right.
- 4:16Speaker 4: I forgot Tony Todd was in it.
- 4:18Speaker 1: Ernie Hudson. Ernie Hudson.
- 4:19Speaker 4: Ernie Hudson.
- 4:20Speaker 6: Rochelle Davis.
- 4:22Speaker 4: I didn't see her.
- 4:23Speaker 6: She wasn't at her table either. She might have been
- 4:25Speaker 6: at photo op.
- 4:26Speaker 10: Could be.
- 4:26Speaker 6: They did a group photo op because they all left.
- 4:27Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 4:29Speaker 6: And that's why we didn't see everybody, because we passed
- 4:31Speaker 6: Tony Todd, or Ernie Hudson and James O'Barr.
- 4:35Speaker 1: And Tony Todd all kind of left at the same time.
- 4:37Speaker 6: He was walking out the door, so that's probably where
- 4:38Speaker 6: they were. Or the crow.
- 4:40Speaker 4: I'm a huge crow fan, but I just.
- 4:42Speaker 6: Why is Michael, is it Wincott? Wincott.
- 4:45Speaker 1: Yeah, Wincott. Where the hell is he at?
- 4:47Speaker 4: He's got other things to do.
- 4:48Speaker 6: No, he doesn't.
- 4:49Speaker 1: He should be on here most of the time.
- 4:50Speaker 4: He's doing things so we can hear him talk.
- 4:52Speaker 6: What the hell is he doing?
- 4:53Speaker 4: Stuff.
- 4:53Speaker 1: Stuff?
- 4:54Speaker 4: Barbecues?
- 4:55Speaker 1: Barbecue. Weeding the yard. You know, he's got stuff to do.
- 4:58Speaker 6: I mean, I'll give the, I'll give the fun, what
- 5:03Speaker 6: was it? Fun boy. I'll give fun boy a pass
- 5:06Speaker 6: because he's dead.
- 5:06Speaker 1: That's a pretty good excuse. Where is, he's just copying
- 5:10Speaker 1: off of Brandon.
- 5:11Speaker 6: Where's the other guy? Where's the, fire it up, fire
- 5:14Speaker 6: it up.
- 5:15Speaker 1: He's making Twin Peaks. He's got legit jobs now.
- 5:18Speaker 4: Which one, the T-Bird guy?
- 5:19Speaker 7: Yeah. Yeah.
- 5:20Speaker 4: I can't remember his name, but yeah, he was doing
- 5:22Speaker 4: stuff before that because I saw him on like.
- 5:24Speaker 1: He's a three-namer, isn't he? He is back in the
- 5:27Speaker 1: new Twin Peaks, though. He's in that first episode.
- 5:28Speaker 4: I think I saw him on PBS doing something one time.
- 5:33Speaker 1: He's a respected actor.
- 5:36Speaker 6: Where's Darla? Nobody knows.
- 5:39Speaker 1: I don't know. She had her little run there.
- 5:42Speaker 6: Where's Shelly?
- 5:45Speaker 4: I have no idea. Is it really a reunion?
- 5:49Speaker 1: Track all these people down. Let's get everybody going here.
- 5:52Speaker 6: Come on. But yeah, I mean, we came to the
- 5:57Speaker 6: Days of Dead Louisville last year. Last year was their
- 6:00Speaker 6: first year in Louisville, so it was not as big
- 6:02Speaker 6: as the ones that were in Indianapolis.
- 6:03Speaker 1: They were testing the waters, yeah.
- 6:04Speaker 6: We've been going to one in Indianapolis for several years,
- 6:07Speaker 6: and it's usually pretty impressive. And that's why I was like,
- 6:09Speaker 6: last year they were kind of testing it out, and
- 6:11Speaker 6: it wasn't as big. This year they've gone more of
- 6:13Speaker 6: the larger routers.
- 6:14Speaker 1: It's pretty much the same size as the other ones,
- 6:16Speaker 1: so they're obviously like, they have faith in us, and...
- 6:20Speaker 1: I don't know what they're thinking. We'll see. You never know.
- 6:24Speaker 1: We're a weird city.
- 6:24Speaker 6: From what I've heard, they've had a pretty good turnout
- 6:26Speaker 6: this year. They do have a lot of celebrities in there.
- 6:28Speaker 6: A lot more vendors than last year. All around good layout.
- 6:32Speaker 1: Crazy costume photo ops. All kinds of cool stuff.
- 6:34Speaker 6: Yeah, all kinds of shit going on. Yeah, because the
- 6:36Speaker 6: guy from... Land of the Dead Land of the Dead
- 6:40Speaker 6: he was sitting there in full makeup.
- 6:42Speaker 1: Yeah he was still yeah still wearing his full makeup
- 6:44Speaker 1: I guess from the photo op.
- 6:45Speaker 6: Earlier did Tony Todd do a he.
- 6:47Speaker 1: Did I think that was yesterday because I saw people
- 6:49Speaker 1: posting pictures with him with the hook.
- 6:51Speaker 4: And everything was Kane Hodder having one too was he
- 6:53Speaker 4: here he.
- 6:54Speaker 1: Was yeah he was there but I think it was
- 6:56Speaker 1: one of the other I think it was one of
- 6:57Speaker 1: the earlier Jason maybe first Jason no not the first
- 7:00Speaker 1: Jason but one of the other the other Jason that's
- 7:02Speaker 1: not him I think was doing a photo op as
- 7:05Speaker 1: Jason so I saw.
- 7:07Speaker 6: Linda Blair in there Yeah, yeah. Kind of forgot she
- 7:09Speaker 6: was going to be here.
- 7:11Speaker 1: She might have forgot. But somebody brought her here. She
- 7:13Speaker 1: was there. Signed herself.
- 7:14Speaker 6: Yeah, there's a lot of celebrities in there.
- 7:17Speaker 1: It's a good run. Good turnout.
- 7:18Speaker 6: Of course, the tag team duo that is Bill Moseley
- 7:22Speaker 6: and Sid Haig. Because you usually can't go to one convention.
- 7:25Speaker 6: If one of them is there, the other one is
- 7:27Speaker 6: usually there.
- 7:27Speaker 1: It's pretty rare that I don't see both of them
- 7:29Speaker 1: at the same time. And all of them on a
- 7:31Speaker 1: semi-regular basis. We did see Bill as soon as we
- 7:33Speaker 1: got here.
- 7:34Speaker 6: He did not give me any cookies.
- 7:35Speaker 1: He did not give us cookies this time, though.
- 7:37Speaker 6: That's been many, many years ago.
- 7:38Speaker 1: He did give us, in the past, pecan sandies.
- 7:41Speaker 6: Which normally I'm not a big fan of. But you
- 7:42Speaker 6: don't say no when Bill Moseley offers you cookies.
- 7:44Speaker 1: You just don't do that. He was just like, cookie?
- 7:48Speaker 1: We were like, hell yeah.
- 7:49Speaker 6: Fuck yeah, give me a cookie.
- 7:51Speaker 1: Obviously we need Bill Moseley's cookie.
- 7:53Speaker 4: No, I didn't get a cookie. I don't eat food
- 7:55Speaker 4: from strangers.
- 7:56Speaker 1: He's not a stranger. He's a strange dude.
- 7:58Speaker 6: You don't get much stranger than Bill Moore.
- 8:01Speaker 4: He is strange.
- 8:01Speaker 1: I think even he won't argue with me, but he's
- 8:03Speaker 1: not a stranger. For a while there, I was seeing
- 8:06Speaker 1: him about every other week of my life, so he
- 8:08Speaker 1: doesn't really seem like a stranger anymore. I did see
- 8:11Speaker 1: him a lot of times over several summers there.
- 8:14Speaker 6: Yeah, this is one of those that's weird because they
- 8:16Speaker 6: have their whole little tattoo set up. Every once in
- 8:19Speaker 6: a while, you'll have a little bit of a tattoo,
- 8:21Speaker 6: but they have a whole one.
- 8:22Speaker 1: It's like a whole tattoo convention. in and of itself
- 8:25Speaker 1: over there and a horror convention. So yeah, usually there's
- 8:28Speaker 1: like a little room with like four tables in it
- 8:30Speaker 1: and it's the tattoo area, but that's like a whole
- 8:33Speaker 1: separate tattoo convention. Surprising how much of those vendors, like
- 8:38Speaker 1: so many different tattoo places set up shop. It's kind
- 8:42Speaker 1: of surprised that many are in one location. So in
- 8:46Speaker 1: addition to that, have you seen anything?
- 8:48Speaker 6: We have watched things lately. Haven't we? I haven't watched things.
- 8:51Speaker 4: Yeah, we have.
- 8:52Speaker 6: We've watched several things actually. Um, my new favorite obsession,
- 8:56Speaker 6: which I've already burned it all out because I went
- 8:58Speaker 6: through the whole season in like two days, was the
- 9:01Speaker 6: Santa Clarita diet, which is like one of my new favorites.
- 9:04Speaker 6: It's like, it was, I went into it and I'm like,
- 9:06Speaker 6: is this going to be as funny as I want
- 9:07Speaker 6: it to be? Or is this going to be like, uh,
- 9:09Speaker 6: and then boyfriend's going to be like, uh, so we didn't,
- 9:10Speaker 6: I was like, I was kind of leery about boyfriend
- 9:13Speaker 6: watching it because he can be like very judgy about
- 9:14Speaker 6: my shows that I want to watch.
- 9:16Speaker 4: I'm not judgy.
- 9:17Speaker 6: Boyfriend.
- 9:17Speaker 10: I'm not.
- 9:18Speaker 1: You just don't want anything to do with them.
- 9:19Speaker 4: Well, I mean, if there's a show that I don't
- 9:21Speaker 4: want to watch, I'll get up and go in the
- 9:22Speaker 4: other room.
- 9:22Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 9:24Speaker 6: That's probably for the best, really. I'd not heard a
- 9:26Speaker 6: super whole lot about it, so I was kind of like,
- 9:28Speaker 6: I didn't know fully what to expect, but holy shit,
- 9:31Speaker 6: it was so fucking funny. Timothy Olyphant, I don't even care.
- 9:35Speaker 6: He makes the laminated list every time.
- 9:37Speaker 1: You're never supposed to laminate it.
- 9:40Speaker 6: I'm telling you, he is so fucking funny. He has
- 9:43Speaker 6: the perfect delivery on everything that he says, and it's
- 9:45Speaker 6: so well written, and Drew Braymore, she's... Yeah.
- 9:49Speaker 4: His complete mental... breakdown slash unhingedness is just really good
- 9:54Speaker 4: in this show.
- 9:55Speaker 6: He's having to deal with the fact that he wakes
- 9:56Speaker 6: up one day and holy shit, his wife is now
- 9:59Speaker 6: a zombie.
- 10:00Speaker 4: Well, a little bit of backstory. They're both very, well,
- 10:03Speaker 4: I wouldn't say successful, but they're about, I guess they're okay.
- 10:07Speaker 4: They're about average, but they're both a couple in the
- 10:10Speaker 4: realty business in Santa Clarita.
- 10:13Speaker 6: Santa Clarita?
- 10:13Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 10:15Speaker 6: I could be getting it wrong.
- 10:15Speaker 4: And then, like you said, one day, I don't even
- 10:18Speaker 4: remember how.
- 10:19Speaker 6: They don't really talk about how it happened. They're just
- 10:22Speaker 6: showing a house one day, and next thing you know,
- 10:23Speaker 6: there's just vomit.
- 10:24Speaker 4: She's turning into a zombie.
- 10:26Speaker 6: She vomits all over the place, and there's just... How
- 10:29Speaker 6: much vomit would you say there was?
- 10:30Speaker 4: Oh, buckets. More than would normally come out of a
- 10:34Speaker 4: human body.
- 10:35Speaker 1: Don't they say that in the movie?
- 10:36Speaker 4: I think they do.
- 10:36Speaker 6: I love that show. It's just hilarious. There's only 10 episodes,
- 10:40Speaker 6: so it's not a big commitment, because they're not even
- 10:41Speaker 6: long episodes. They're like, If you watch the entire credits,
- 10:46Speaker 6: it's like 28 minutes, but usually I'm like, fuck the credits.
- 10:50Speaker 4: Even the intro to it's short. I love that.
- 10:54Speaker 6: There it is. There's no long, drawn out thing. It's
- 10:58Speaker 6: not like Little House on the Prairie.
- 11:01Speaker 1: It doesn't have Drew running down a hill somewhere?
- 11:04Speaker 4: No, or MASH. I hate that song, by the way.
- 11:08Speaker 1: Suicide is painless.
- 11:10Speaker 6: But anyways, yeah, it's just like they show you a
- 11:11Speaker 6: title card and it's like, hey, there you are.
- 11:15Speaker 4: But yeah, Timothy Oliphant, just his having to deal with
- 11:22Speaker 4: their life transition and the fact that he still loves
- 11:25Speaker 4: his wife even though she's turning into a zombie and
- 11:26Speaker 4: he wants to do everything for her, even though he's
- 11:29Speaker 4: really not that kind of guy. He's not really a
- 11:35Speaker 4: a super take charge he's a manicure guy yeah he's
- 11:37Speaker 4: a manicure guy he's not so much of a man's man.
- 11:41Speaker 6: But I adore him I figure this is like my
- 11:43Speaker 6: gateway drug of Timothy Oliphant I figure I get him
- 11:46Speaker 6: in on this I can get him on Justified.
- 11:48Speaker 4: I don't know about that I still love.
- 11:51Speaker 6: Justified come on now I know. I didn't know exactly
- 11:55Speaker 6: what to expect, but the show, the mind was blown.
- 11:58Speaker 6: It was boggled. I don't think I've ever laughed so
- 12:01Speaker 6: much watching a TV show. Literally just guffawing.
- 12:05Speaker 4: Yeah, it is pretty damn hilarious.
- 12:08Speaker 6: It's mostly just Timothy Olyphant in his face. He's just
- 12:13Speaker 6: so delightful. It's just your basic little upper middle class neighborhood.
- 12:17Speaker 6: They have their daughter too. Even the daughters are trying
- 12:20Speaker 6: to figure out the shit.
- 12:22Speaker 4: And what's worse than that? They live in between two cops.
- 12:25Speaker 6: A sheriff and a police.
- 12:26Speaker 4: A sheriff and another one who works for the police department.
- 12:29Speaker 4: Might be state police or something like that. So it's
- 12:32Speaker 4: them having to try to figure out how to feed
- 12:35Speaker 4: Drew Barrymore and not get caught.
- 12:39Speaker 1: It is strange that they don't really ID how it happened.
- 12:44Speaker 6: Towards the end they get to a book where they're
- 12:45Speaker 6: trying to find a cure for it. Spoiler alert. But
- 12:49Speaker 6: they don't really find a cure. Spoiler alert. or there's
- 12:51Speaker 6: a book but they don't really go they don't it's
- 12:53Speaker 6: not resolved at the end of the first season spoiler
- 12:56Speaker 6: alert there's a lot.
- 12:58Speaker 1: Of spoilers going on but not really maybe.
- 13:02Speaker 6: But then it's like there's people in the show you're
- 13:04Speaker 6: like holy shit first episode Nathan Fillion who doesn't love
- 13:09Speaker 6: Nathan Fillion apparently he is delicious.
- 13:12Speaker 1: Good to know Keep that in mind.
- 13:16Speaker 6: It's got other people in there, but it's just a
- 13:18Speaker 6: whole bunch of, hey, who's that person? At the end
- 13:20Speaker 6: you get Portia de Rossi. I'm like, oh my god,
- 13:23Speaker 6: Portia de Rossi. Where did she go? Apparently Santa Clarita.
- 13:27Speaker 1: She was kind of a big deal for a while there.
- 13:29Speaker 1: Now you don't really see her anymore.
- 13:31Speaker 6: She was the doctor.
- 13:34Speaker 4: The writing's excellent on this show. I don't know who
- 13:36Speaker 4: they got to write this, but I would say it's
- 13:39Speaker 4: right up there with the first season of Scream Queens.
- 13:42Speaker 6: Which is still one of my absolute all-time favorites. Oh,
- 13:44Speaker 6: my God.
- 13:45Speaker 1: You were selling me on it yesterday.
- 13:46Speaker 6: I was. I'm telling you. Literally, I was trying to
- 13:48Speaker 6: sell it. We're at the flea market. I'm like, buy
- 13:50Speaker 6: this fucking DVD.
- 13:51Speaker 1: You picked up the box set, and you kind of
- 13:52Speaker 1: banded it with your hand. You're like, this is one
- 13:55Speaker 1: of the greatest shows ever.
- 13:57Speaker 6: It was pretty fantastic. But, yeah, Santa cleared it. It's
- 14:00Speaker 6: on the Netflix.
- 14:02Speaker 1: It's Netflix made, is it not? Yeah, it is.
- 14:06Speaker 6: The only thing that upsets me is there's not going
- 14:08Speaker 6: to be any more until next year.
- 14:10Speaker 1: That's usually how those go.
- 14:12Speaker 6: Fuckers. Like I said, it's easy. It's little bites. It's
- 14:16Speaker 6: only less than a half an hour, ten episodes. You're good.
- 14:20Speaker 6: Very well written. It's so fucking funny. It cusses more
- 14:25Speaker 6: than I do, by the way.
- 14:26Speaker 1: That's kind of hard to believe. No, seriously.
- 14:30Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 14:32Speaker 1: Does Drew get her own rating?
- 14:34Speaker 6: Oh, she... Dude, let me tell you something.
- 14:35Speaker 1: She deserves her own rating?
- 14:36Speaker 6: She deserves the Misty rating because she's... Timothy, oh, even
- 14:41Speaker 6: the daughter. After a while, she's like, you're eating people.
- 14:44Speaker 6: I can cuss all I fucking want to. Like, I'm
- 14:46Speaker 6: cussing now. That's a thing.
- 14:47Speaker 1: Oh, Lord.
- 14:49Speaker 6: Yeah, so it's the daughter having to deal with the
- 14:50Speaker 6: fact that her mom's now a zombie and their lives
- 14:52Speaker 6: are going to change, you know? A little bit, I
- 14:54Speaker 6: would say. And how can she contribute?
- 14:57Speaker 1: Find people to eat, I suppose.
- 15:00Speaker 6: They tried. Good times were had by all. What else
- 15:03Speaker 6: did we watch? We watched Logan.
- 15:06Speaker 4: We watched Logan.
- 15:07Speaker 1: Finally. We, well, I would say you've heard what we
- 15:11Speaker 1: had to say about it last recent episode, but, you know,
- 15:16Speaker 1: some of you probably didn't because it went out as
- 15:18Speaker 1: a special Patreon exclusive. You gotta be one of the
- 15:22Speaker 1: Meltdown kids to go hear that one. So, first off,
- 15:25Speaker 1: you should already do that. Go join the Meltdown Club
- 15:26Speaker 1: right now. You could hear what we had to say
- 15:29Speaker 1: about it, but If not, at least you guys can
- 15:31Speaker 1: chime in.
- 15:32Speaker 6: Yeah, you'll get the more important Misty version of it.
- 15:33Speaker 1: Yeah, now you can get your take on it. I've
- 15:36Speaker 1: already spoken at great length about it.
- 15:39Speaker 6: That was not a cheerful movie.
- 15:41Speaker 1: No, no. It's a downer kind of a movie.
- 15:47Speaker 4: It is, but I liked it.
- 15:48Speaker 1: I liked it, but yeah, it is not a cheery
- 15:51Speaker 1: time in life. Or the planet, perhaps. this semi-dystopian future
- 15:56Speaker 1: that really isn't all that dystopian. It's just kind of
- 15:59Speaker 1: how life is now.
- 16:00Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 16:01Speaker 1: So it's like real life. Yeah. I mean, that's what, yeah,
- 16:03Speaker 1: that's what I said on that episode. I was like,
- 16:05Speaker 1: they kept talking to the director and people would always
- 16:07Speaker 1: reference how it's a dystopian. He's like, you know, we
- 16:10Speaker 1: didn't really do anything. Like we just shot in, Now, like,
- 16:16Speaker 1: we shot in 2017, so have fun with that. You
- 16:19Speaker 1: live in a dystopia.
- 16:20Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 16:20Speaker 1: He's like, they've got a couple little weird sci-fi elements
- 16:23Speaker 1: because it's in the future, but he's like, we didn't
- 16:25Speaker 1: really set out to make it a dystopia.
- 16:26Speaker 4: Yeah, like the cars, that's about it.
- 16:27Speaker 1: Yeah, it's like, there's a couple of minor little things,
- 16:30Speaker 1: but other than that, it's just kind of now, guys,
- 16:33Speaker 1: so have fun. This is where you live. So, yeah,
- 16:36Speaker 1: I thought that was funny.
- 16:36Speaker 6: My only problem with it was, like, the whole thing
- 16:39Speaker 6: with Charles.
- 16:42Speaker 1: You should be excited. They all curse quite a bit
- 16:45Speaker 1: in this, too.
- 16:45Speaker 6: I know. I was all about that. But then it's like,
- 16:48Speaker 6: he kept going on about how he sensed the one girl.
- 16:51Speaker 6: I'm like, wait a second. There's a whole little class
- 16:52Speaker 6: of these mutants out there. How come he's only sensing
- 16:54Speaker 6: the one girl?
- 16:54Speaker 1: Because she's all Logan up. She's loaded with Logan DNA.
- 16:58Speaker 6: But still, shouldn't he have been able to sense all
- 17:00Speaker 6: the other mutants?
- 17:00Speaker 1: Well, he's not at the top of his game.
- 17:02Speaker 4: Yeah, he's not at the top of his game.
- 17:04Speaker 1: He's kind of fallen from his perch.
- 17:07Speaker 6: Yeah, that's what I heard. I couldn't tell if it
- 17:08Speaker 6: was a couple. I had to look it up afterwards.
- 17:10Speaker 6: I'm like, all right, what happened to something?
- 17:12Speaker 4: It may be, too, because she was closest.
- 17:14Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 17:15Speaker 4: Where the other ones weren't that close. And before, he
- 17:16Speaker 4: was using, I think he was using Cerebro so that
- 17:20Speaker 4: he could see mutants all around the globe.
- 17:23Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah.
- 17:25Speaker 4: Not just the ones that were near him. So it
- 17:28Speaker 4: may be why he only saw her was because she
- 17:30Speaker 4: was closest.
- 17:31Speaker 9: Yeah, maybe.
- 17:31Speaker 1: And again, I mean, he'd been around Logan for, what,
- 17:34Speaker 1: 30 years or more? And like, so... The fact that
- 17:37Speaker 1: he's picking up on the exact same DNA that he
- 17:39Speaker 1: knows so well, like, I would assume he would be
- 17:42Speaker 1: a little more drawn to that because it's familiar.
- 17:44Speaker 6: That little girl was pretty badass.
- 17:47Speaker 1: She's a badass. She's just an animal. She jumps on them,
- 17:51Speaker 1: attacks them.
- 17:52Speaker 6: Got her toes.
- 17:53Speaker 1: Got cool toe blades. Over here ain't got no cool
- 17:56Speaker 1: toe blades.
- 17:57Speaker 12: But, uh.
- 17:58Speaker 6: Yeah, I'd heard so much hype about this movie, and
- 18:01Speaker 6: it actually was really good. I was kind of afraid.
- 18:03Speaker 6: I put it off for so long. Everybody's like, oh
- 18:04Speaker 6: my god, it's the best. You have to watch it.
- 18:07Speaker 1: I mean, it's awesome because it's not... I forgot to
- 18:11Speaker 1: include it in the superhero series because it's not really...
- 18:14Speaker 1: I mean, it is, technically. It's following those same characters,
- 18:17Speaker 1: but I'm like, it's so anti-superhero movie if ever there
- 18:21Speaker 1: was one. I mean, it's just grim and realistic in
- 18:25Speaker 1: the most possible way that you could make a superhero movie. Like,
- 18:29Speaker 1: Just bleak.
- 18:31Speaker 6: Yeah, there weren't a lot of happy moments in it.
- 18:32Speaker 6: And then I was pissed. I'm like, why did Charles
- 18:35Speaker 6: decide to get that family killed? They ought to know
- 18:37Speaker 6: that if they're going to stay in that house, they're
- 18:38Speaker 6: going to get that whole damn family killed.
- 18:40Speaker 4: He's not in his right mind, though, still.
- 18:43Speaker 3: You know?
- 18:44Speaker 1: I mentioned that as well. I'm like.
- 18:47Speaker 4: Again, if he was on top of his game, he
- 18:49Speaker 4: probably would have realized that, but... You know.
- 18:53Speaker 1: He's kind of losing it. He just wanted to sleep
- 18:54Speaker 1: in a bed and... And again, he's still kind of
- 18:58Speaker 1: trying to teach Wolverine a lesson, too. He's just like,
- 19:00Speaker 1: this is the real family. You should experience this. You
- 19:02Speaker 1: should go find that for yourself. He's still convinced he
- 19:05Speaker 1: can have some sort of life. And Logan's just like,
- 19:08Speaker 1: that's not me. It will never be me. And he
- 19:12Speaker 1: knows it, and he accepts it.
- 19:13Speaker 6: But he had to get a whole family killed to
- 19:14Speaker 6: learn this point that he didn't really learn.
- 19:16Speaker 1: Again, that's not really cool, but that's how life works.
- 19:21Speaker 1: Sooner or later, we're all going to get killed by
- 19:23Speaker 1: an X-24.
- 19:25Speaker 6: Whatever.
- 19:26Speaker 1: Logan's going to show up and knife you in the head.
- 19:28Speaker 6: What else did we watch? Have we talked enough about
- 19:30Speaker 6: that one?
- 19:31Speaker 9: Probably.
- 19:31Speaker 6: What else did we watch?
- 19:32Speaker 1: Again, if you want to hear more, go listen to
- 19:34Speaker 1: the other episode.
- 19:35Speaker 6: We also watched Guardians of the Galaxy 2.
- 19:39Speaker 1: We have one of those, too.
- 19:40Speaker 6: Which is the.
- 19:43Speaker 4: Baby group show.
- 19:44Speaker 6: It really is. Which I am more than okay with.
- 19:47Speaker 6: God damn, he is so fucking cute. it's ridiculous i.
- 19:51Speaker 1: Said that before i was just like it should like
- 19:53Speaker 1: if anything else had something that was trying that hard
- 19:56Speaker 1: to be so damn cute and was being so cheesy
- 19:59Speaker 1: about it and kind of shoving it in your face
- 20:00Speaker 1: how damn adorable he is i'd be annoyed and it
- 20:03Speaker 1: would be a total turn off to the movie damn
- 20:05Speaker 1: it he's so damn cute he like overpowers that and
- 20:07Speaker 1: i'm just like nope love baby group you keep dancing
- 20:10Speaker 1: buddy it's like it's just it's always entertaining as much
- 20:13Speaker 1: as i should not like it i can't you can't fight.
- 20:16Speaker 6: The baby group have you seen the video of uh
- 20:18Speaker 6: james gunn doing the dance because he's what they he's
- 20:21Speaker 6: what they was the reference yeah he was.
- 20:23Speaker 1: And it's so ridiculous in motion referencing not motion capture
- 20:27Speaker 1: yeah as our friend sean gunn explained to him yes.
- 20:30Speaker 6: He did But yeah, I fucking love that. It was...
- 20:33Speaker 6: I can't even. It was so... Baby Groot. That's all
- 20:38Speaker 6: we need. Where's his own... I want just a Groot
- 20:42Speaker 6: movie by himself. You don't even need anybody else.
- 20:44Speaker 1: How about cool Kurt Russell?
- 20:46Speaker 6: I was so amazed. Like, when they showed Young.
- 20:49Speaker 1: Oh, I know. That's, again, like, they get better and
- 20:52Speaker 1: better at that fake CG stuff.
- 20:53Speaker 6: And I was like, and Boyfriend's like, who is that
- 20:56Speaker 6: supposed to be? I'm like, what do you mean, who
- 20:57Speaker 6: is that supposed to be? It looks just like him.
- 20:59Speaker 6: It can't be more like him than if it actually
- 21:01Speaker 6: is him. Oh, wait, it is sort of him, but
- 21:02Speaker 6: not really him.
- 21:03Speaker 4: Well, that's why I didn't believe, I was like, I
- 21:04Speaker 4: couldn't believe it was actually Kurt Russell. I was like,
- 21:06Speaker 4: who is that Kurt Russell lookalike?
- 21:07Speaker 1: Kinda is. A million years ago, but.
- 21:11Speaker 6: Oh, he was the worst, though, in the end. Oh,
- 21:13Speaker 6: my God, he's such an ass.
- 21:15Speaker 8: Spoiler.
- 21:17Speaker 6: But you already did the show, didn't you?
- 21:18Speaker 1: But at this point, well, yeah, but I'm saying, if
- 21:20Speaker 1: you haven't, too bad for you. But really, I mean,
- 21:23Speaker 1: didn't we all kind of know he was going to
- 21:25Speaker 1: end up being a dick?
- 21:26Speaker 6: I knew something wasn't going to be right.
- 21:27Speaker 1: Yeah. From the beginning, you're just like, this is a
- 21:30Speaker 1: little too good to be true. That's usually not how
- 21:32Speaker 1: things go. And that's how it went.
- 21:34Speaker 6: Oh, my God. And poor Rooker. I mean.
- 21:37Speaker 1: But again, it was one of those, he was never
- 21:39Speaker 1: really a villain. They kind of set him up in
- 21:42Speaker 1: the last movie like he was a villain, even though
- 21:44Speaker 1: we all kind of liked him anyway because he's Rooker.
- 21:46Speaker 1: But in the comics, he's not a villain anyway. He
- 21:49Speaker 1: literally was one of the old Guardians. He was the
- 21:52Speaker 1: original lineup Guardian. So it is funny that they kind
- 21:55Speaker 1: of brought it full circle and he became more of
- 21:58Speaker 1: one of the Guardian team. So much so that, yeah,
- 22:02Speaker 1: he's kind of awesome in it. And again, it always
- 22:04Speaker 1: amazes me when I see Rooker in movies and he's.
- 22:07Speaker 4: Like, Oh yeah, he's also a really good actor.
- 22:09Speaker 1: I'm so used to seeing him. Once again, I see
- 22:11Speaker 1: him on such a regular basis with these things that
- 22:13Speaker 1: he's just crazy. And he's such a crackhead. He's such
- 22:15Speaker 1: a crazy rooker wandering around stealing people's pizza and whatever
- 22:18Speaker 1: he does. He's always just being a crazy rooker at
- 22:20Speaker 1: a convention. So I forget that he can switch that
- 22:24Speaker 1: off and be legitimately dramatic. If you don't believe me,
- 22:27Speaker 1: go back and look at those old roles before he
- 22:29Speaker 1: became the rooker that he is now. Go back and
- 22:32Speaker 1: watch Henry. He's amazing in Henry. Days of Thunder.
- 22:37Speaker 6: I don't know if I'll go that far.
- 22:38Speaker 1: I was going to go like Mississippi Burning or something. But,
- 22:40Speaker 1: you know, he's got a lot of legitimate dramatic roles
- 22:43Speaker 1: that he's like just phenomenal in. So, yeah, I always
- 22:47Speaker 1: kind of go like, oh, yeah, he is also a
- 22:48Speaker 1: good actor in addition to being a crackhead.
- 22:51Speaker 6: Yeah, I'm not going to argue that one.
- 22:52Speaker 1: We still love him, but he's a crackhead.
- 22:54Speaker 6: Oh, yeah, he is. And the poor hideous Mantis.
- 22:58Speaker 1: I like Mantis. She's adorable.
- 23:00Speaker 6: I know.
- 23:01Speaker 1: So it's good to have her reeling in. She's kind
- 23:04Speaker 1: of widening the team. We got us a new A
- 23:06Speaker 1: new member now, so that's cool. I want to see
- 23:09Speaker 1: her do more stuff next time. They just kind of
- 23:11Speaker 1: intro'd her this time, so it'll be interesting once she
- 23:14Speaker 1: gets a bigger role in the movie.
- 23:16Speaker 6: How many movies do you think we'll get out of this?
- 23:18Speaker 1: I mean, they've got to do the trilogy. You always...
- 23:21Speaker 1: If you sign on to anything and it does well,
- 23:22Speaker 1: you get a trilogy. Is there going to be a prequel?
- 23:25Speaker 1: Are we going to get Groot's origin stories? I mean,
- 23:27Speaker 1: they're already going to be side stuff anyway, because we're
- 23:30Speaker 1: pretty sure they're probably going to turn up in the
- 23:32Speaker 1: next Infinity Gauntlet movie, so... There's probably going to be
- 23:36Speaker 1: a little crossover stuff.
- 23:39Speaker 6: Rocket origin story?
- 23:40Speaker 1: Maybe. I'd be up for that. So, yeah. I feel
- 23:44Speaker 1: like we're probably going to get it.
- 23:45Speaker 6: Trash Panda.
- 23:49Speaker 1: That's way worse. Oh, he's adorable, too. It's ridiculous how damn...
- 23:54Speaker 1: All of them. Zoe. Crazy green hot chick.
- 23:58Speaker 6: Did you watch the music video?
- 23:59Speaker 2: The.
- 24:01Speaker 6: The video for the ending song? The David Hasselhoff song?
- 24:05Speaker 6: Did you watch the video for it?
- 24:06Speaker 1: I've seen different variations, I feel like.
- 24:10Speaker 6: The music video?
- 24:11Speaker 1: You get the little snippets of it in the credits anyway.
- 24:13Speaker 6: You have to watch the official music video for it.
- 24:16Speaker 6: It's epic.
- 24:16Speaker 1: You just love Jeff Goldblum.
- 24:19Speaker 6: He's not in the music video.
- 24:20Speaker 1: He's in the end credits, though. He's dancing around to that.
- 24:23Speaker 6: The 48 billion end credits? I was just like... oh
- 24:25Speaker 6: my god, I'm not complaining, but I am complaining.
- 24:28Speaker 1: How many fucking end credits do you need? I kind
- 24:30Speaker 1: of like it because they just know people are hanging
- 24:31Speaker 1: around anyway, so they're like, well, we've got a couple
- 24:33Speaker 1: more things we've got to pass along because I really
- 24:35Speaker 1: love the Groot being not baby Groot now, pissy teenage Groot.
- 24:39Speaker 1: So that was fun. So we know that stuff's coming anyway,
- 24:42Speaker 1: so I like that they're just like, look, we're just
- 24:44Speaker 1: going to pepper it in throughout the credits so you're
- 24:46Speaker 1: hanging around anyway so which is what.
- 24:47Speaker 6: They did with logan did you notice specifically they did
- 24:50Speaker 6: not do an end like there was no.
- 24:51Speaker 1: That wasn't again they talked to the director and like
- 24:54Speaker 1: on purpose they were like we don't want like this
- 24:57Speaker 1: is the end we're capping it off marvel will probably
- 24:59Speaker 1: do more with them you know x-men and maybe even
- 25:01Speaker 1: wolverine somewhere down the line but like of that trio
- 25:04Speaker 1: of people like you know wolverine xavier and And the director, like,
- 25:09Speaker 1: that's our thing. We've done it. We capped it off. So, like,
- 25:12Speaker 1: he specifically did not want to do anything extra as
- 25:14Speaker 1: far as after credits kind of stuff.
- 25:17Speaker 6: Is there anything else for us to talk about before
- 25:19Speaker 6: we get to the movie of the week?
- 25:20Speaker 4: We watched a lot of Rick and Morty.
- 25:23Speaker 1: As you should.
- 25:24Speaker 6: I would discuss Rick and Morty last time you weren't on,
- 25:26Speaker 6: but we've watched more since.
- 25:28Speaker 4: I mean.
- 25:31Speaker 6: I love that show.
- 25:32Speaker 4: What is there not to say about it? It's awesome.
- 25:34Speaker 4: Awesome cartoon.
- 25:35Speaker 1: I've tried to fight off how many different pickle t-shirts
- 25:40Speaker 1: that have been offered to me via the internet.
- 25:42Speaker 4: There are so many pickle Rick.
- 25:43Speaker 1: There was another one yesterday and I was like, that
- 25:45Speaker 1: one was really cool. I'm like, damn it. I have
- 25:47Speaker 1: so many freaking geek shirts. I don't need any more.
- 25:50Speaker 1: Stop making cool Rick and Morty shirts. Because there's already
- 25:53Speaker 1: like two or three I would be wearing if I
- 25:55Speaker 1: had more days in the week to wear dorky t-shirts.
- 25:57Speaker 1: There's so many cool Rick and Morty shirts and I can't.
- 26:01Speaker 1: I can't. I just can't. It's too many.
- 26:03Speaker 6: When I saw it the other day, I was like,
- 26:04Speaker 6: I'm T-shirt Rick. And it's just Rick like he's made
- 26:06Speaker 6: himself into a T-shirt, but you wear the T-shirt. And
- 26:08Speaker 6: I was just like, oh, that's pretty genius.
- 26:09Speaker 12: Oh, Lord.
- 26:10Speaker 1: It's just, yeah. It's an amazing show.
- 26:15Speaker 6: I wonder how long until that one jumps the shark.
- 26:16Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 26:17Speaker 4: They're on, what, season three now?
- 26:18Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 26:19Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 26:20Speaker 4: So, I mean, so far the writing's still good. As
- 26:22Speaker 4: long as they keep the same formula they're doing, they
- 26:25Speaker 4: should be good for a while.
- 26:27Speaker 6: I mean, we got two good seasons of Squidbillies, I think.
- 26:30Speaker 13: Yeah.
- 26:30Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 26:31Speaker 4: But it seems like most shows that I really, really like,
- 26:34Speaker 4: you might get one or two really good seasons out
- 26:36Speaker 4: of them. And then something happens to them.
- 26:38Speaker 1: I don't know if they run out of material or
- 26:41Speaker 1: switch writers. It's a lot to add. Like to me,
- 26:44Speaker 1: just to get a good movie is impressive enough, but
- 26:46Speaker 1: like a TV show becomes such a much bigger arc
- 26:50Speaker 1: that I'm like, the fact that you get a good
- 26:51Speaker 1: season or a good couple of seats, like it's the
- 26:54Speaker 1: shows that go on for nine and 10 seasons. I'm like,
- 26:58Speaker 1: how do you expect to come up with more useful
- 27:00Speaker 1: stuff out of this one premise or characters, or even
- 27:02Speaker 1: if you mix it up a little bit, I'm like,
- 27:04Speaker 1: it feels like, cause I've said, I'm like, you, it's
- 27:07Speaker 1: rare that I find a show that goes past season
- 27:09Speaker 1: five that I don't feel like is just done. You know,
- 27:12Speaker 1: it's so hard for me to come up with the
- 27:14Speaker 1: ones that I'm like, well, I haven't had a musical
- 27:16Speaker 1: episode yet.
- 27:17Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 27:17Speaker 1: Well, it's happening. There's another one. What is it? What's
- 27:20Speaker 1: coming back this season? It's the musical.
- 27:23Speaker 9: Shit.
- 27:23Speaker 4: What was it?
- 27:24Speaker 1: I just saw the ad for it the other day. Oh,
- 27:26Speaker 1: it's blackish. Their season intro is going to be musical.
- 27:30Speaker 1: I'm like, man, every show has to do a musical episode.
- 27:33Speaker 6: Buffy's was good, though. I don't even care.
- 27:35Speaker 1: Buffy's kind of started it. Nobody did it back when
- 27:37Speaker 1: she was doing it. But now that Flash and Supergirl
- 27:40Speaker 1: did it, I'm like, everybody does it. When's the Walking
- 27:43Speaker 1: Dead musical episode?
- 27:44Speaker 6: Give it time.
- 27:45Speaker 1: I'm sure it'll be there.
- 27:46Speaker 6: It's like a fever dream or something.
- 27:48Speaker 4: With the exception of Buffy, I hate musical episodes.
- 27:51Speaker 1: That one's good, though. It's surprising how good that one is.
- 27:55Speaker 1: What about you?
- 27:55Speaker 6: Have you watched anything?
- 27:58Speaker 1: I did.
- 27:59Speaker 6: Other than Battle of the Network Stars.
- 28:01Speaker 1: That's the best show ever. If anybody else out there,
- 28:05Speaker 1: I'm still like, I just referenced it like I do
- 28:07Speaker 1: with most dorky things I love. And I'm just like,
- 28:10Speaker 1: back in the day, that was the best show ever.
- 28:11Speaker 1: And you were like, what the hell are you talking about?
- 28:14Speaker 1: Battle of the Network Stars. It's the best show ever.
- 28:17Speaker 4: It's not the one where Screech had to fight Adam Horowitz. No.
- 28:22Speaker 1: That was just a bad publicity stunt.
- 28:23Speaker 4: Maybe that was celebrity boxing.
- 28:25Speaker 1: That was more recent. But no, this is like, late 70s,
- 28:28Speaker 1: early 80s. Oh, yeah, I didn't watch it. You've got, like,
- 28:30Speaker 1: super young, you know, it's like young Scott Baio versus
- 28:33Speaker 1: young Michael J. Fox in an obstacle course. Like, I
- 28:38Speaker 1: was telling you, I was like, it's kind of like
- 28:39Speaker 1: American Gladiators before there was American Gladiators, and then you
- 28:43Speaker 1: cram a bunch of cheesy celebrities in there and make
- 28:45Speaker 1: them actually do physical stunts and tug-of-wars and shit. It
- 28:49Speaker 1: was amazing.
- 28:50Speaker 6: I loved American Gladiators.
- 28:51Speaker 1: YouTube it, man, I'm telling you. Battle of the Network
- 28:53Speaker 1: stars from back in the day, because there's.
- 28:55Speaker 6: A new one, they rebooted it, Currently involves Charisma Carpenter
- 28:57Speaker 6: in a bikini.
- 28:58Speaker 1: I mean, that's why I was watching this week. I
- 29:00Speaker 1: was like, oh, Charisma Carpenter. Oh, Charisma Carpenter. So, you know.
- 29:04Speaker 6: She is still hot.
- 29:05Speaker 1: She's, yeah. And single. So whatever happened to Baby Daddy,
- 29:09Speaker 1: I don't know. But she was checking out a dude
- 29:10Speaker 1: on the other team who I think was from like
- 29:12Speaker 1: General Hospital or some soap opera bullshit. The Jack Wagner? No.
- 29:16Speaker 1: I'm sure he's been on there, though. He's screaming to
- 29:18Speaker 1: be on Madeline Network Stars. I love Jack Wagner. But, no,
- 29:22Speaker 1: it was some recent version because I didn't know who
- 29:24Speaker 1: the hell that dude was, so. That's usually the case.
- 29:26Speaker 1: They're usually from a soap opera, but I don't know
- 29:27Speaker 1: who the hell they are. I'm like, Adrian Zamed? Sure,
- 29:31Speaker 1: I can pick him up. Man, he looks old. I mean, granted,
- 29:33Speaker 1: he is old. We're all old, but if you're around
- 29:35Speaker 1: from the first Battle network stars you're kind of old
- 29:38Speaker 1: so yep there were some pretty awesome people on there
- 29:41Speaker 1: but yeah the reboot just doesn't have the same feel
- 29:45Speaker 1: of the old one it's just not quite the same
- 29:47Speaker 1: but i'm i'm a dork i'll still watch ian's earring
- 29:50Speaker 1: shoving a boat down a pool i don't care so
- 29:53Speaker 1: what it's a kayaking race of some sort i don't
- 29:57Speaker 1: know it's it's weird So, I don't know.
- 30:00Speaker 6: Did you watch anything else?
- 30:02Speaker 1: Belko Experiment.
- 30:03Speaker 6: Oh, yeah, we watched that, too.
- 30:05Speaker 1: Because I knew you watched that.
- 30:07Speaker 4: We watched what?
- 30:07Speaker 6: The Belko Experiment.
- 30:08Speaker 4: I didn't watch that.
- 30:09Speaker 6: Yes, you did.
- 30:10Speaker 1: I did? Yes.
- 30:12Speaker 4: I don't remember it.
- 30:13Speaker 1: OMG. You remember for him.
- 30:16Speaker 6: What happened? I remember they were in a building and
- 30:18Speaker 6: it had Michael Rooker and he was a janitor.
- 30:21Speaker 1: Spoilers, possibly.
- 30:23Speaker 6: For like five minutes and then he got killed.
- 30:25Speaker 1: Nope.
- 30:27Speaker 6: And then they were in a building, like a company,
- 30:30Speaker 6: like in a foreign country, and they locked the whole
- 30:32Speaker 6: building down. No.
- 30:34Speaker 1: They had to kill each other, basically. They had collars.
- 30:37Speaker 6: Not collars. They had implants on the back of their head.
- 30:39Speaker 11: Oh, okay.
- 30:40Speaker 4: Now I remember.
- 30:41Speaker 1: I was like, wow, you're pretty far in.
- 30:43Speaker 4: Was this a TV show or was this a movie?
- 30:47Speaker 4: It was a movie.
- 30:48Speaker 1: I was impressed with it. I was like, I didn't know.
- 30:50Speaker 1: I'd heard a lot about it by title and hadn't
- 30:52Speaker 1: really heard the premise until like the day before. And
- 30:55Speaker 1: I went, oh. well, shit, I need to see that. Like,
- 30:57Speaker 1: I didn't know they get to kill each other. Because, yeah,
- 30:59Speaker 1: they were billing it like it was, like, Battle Royale
- 31:02Speaker 1: meets The Office. Like, I wouldn't go, it's not that cheesy.
- 31:06Speaker 1: It's not Office level of fun. Like, it's still relatively serious.
- 31:09Speaker 4: Yeah, the only Office thing is the fact they were
- 31:11Speaker 4: set in an office.
- 31:11Speaker 1: In an office, yeah. To me, it was a little more,
- 31:14Speaker 1: this was the thing, I hadn't heard anybody reference, I
- 31:16Speaker 1: got a really specific Cabin in the Woods vibe. Because
- 31:19Speaker 1: it seems like it's very, let's deconstruct, instead of being
- 31:24Speaker 1: the traditional horror movie, it's let's, deconstruct a, you know,
- 31:27Speaker 1: Battle Royale or Hunger Games or, like, we've got these people,
- 31:30Speaker 1: we're going to make them all kill each other, but
- 31:32Speaker 1: we're also kind of going to use that, like, way
- 31:34Speaker 1: that we break down horror movies in the new self-conscious
- 31:38Speaker 1: era where everybody does that. So it's like, I don't know,
- 31:40Speaker 1: it took a very, like, conscious of the kind of
- 31:42Speaker 1: movie it is approach to that scenario.
- 31:45Speaker 4: I think I fell asleep halfway through it.
- 31:47Speaker 1: It was pretty fun, though.
- 31:48Speaker 6: I would not be surprised if you fell asleep through it.
- 31:50Speaker 1: Also starring our friend Sean Gunn.
- 31:53Speaker 6: Mm-hmm.
- 31:53Speaker 1: I was trying to decide who was he because he
- 31:55Speaker 1: wasn't dressed like everybody else. I'm like, maybe he's the
- 31:57Speaker 1: IT department. He was the one that gets to dress
- 32:00Speaker 1: like a slacker when he came to work because everybody
- 32:01Speaker 1: else was still wearing mostly business attire. Michael Rooker at
- 32:05Speaker 1: least was working in the janitor jumpsuit kind of thing.
- 32:10Speaker 1: But yeah, I don't know what the deal was with Sean.
- 32:12Speaker 6: All he did was get on the roof and be hot.
- 32:13Speaker 1: I know, he was just smoking on the roof like
- 32:16Speaker 1: you do.
- 32:16Speaker 6: Apparently, I've never worked in an office. I don't know.
- 32:20Speaker 1: Not what I do, but some people. Not that Sean
- 32:24Speaker 1: would ever do such a real world thing, but yeah,
- 32:27Speaker 1: it was interesting. I didn't expect the people. That was
- 32:31Speaker 1: the thing. It's like the people you expected to be
- 32:32Speaker 1: around didn't necessarily make it that long. And then some
- 32:35Speaker 1: of the people are like, oh, they're going to be
- 32:36Speaker 1: gone right away. And they're there for the whole movie.
- 32:38Speaker 1: So it's, it's, yeah, it kind of mixes up a
- 32:40Speaker 1: little bit.
- 32:41Speaker 6: I liked it.
- 32:42Speaker 1: It was fun.
- 32:43Speaker 6: All right.
- 32:44Speaker 1: Well, I say we take a break. Come back with
- 32:46Speaker 1: this week's movie.
- 32:47Speaker 6: We'll be back.
- 32:50Speaker 11: Siempre estarás en mi corazón.
- 32:54Speaker 7: Y la ilusión de volverte a ver.
- 32:58Speaker 12: Tú tienes el valor que yo quiero tener.
- 33:19Speaker 1: Extraño tu calor.
- 33:29Speaker 10: He more hideous than Jack the Ripper.
- 33:32Speaker 4: She bloodier than Bluebeard.
- 33:34Speaker 13: No one is safe in The Teenage Psycho Meets Bloody Mary.
- 33:38Speaker 13: Filmed in sensational bloody vision. Movie monsters come alive and
- 33:42Speaker 13: go into the audience. You are suddenly surrounded by monsters.
- 33:45Speaker 13: You become a party to the horror in The Teenage.
- 33:49Speaker 1: Psycho Meets Bloody Mary.
- 33:51Speaker 13: Starring Cash Flag in bloody color.
- 33:54Speaker 6: Morty.
- 33:55Speaker 4: Rick?
- 33:56Speaker 1: Where are you? On my workbench, Morty. Are you invisible
- 33:59Speaker 1: and you're gonna, like, fart on me? Flip the pickle over.
- 34:02Speaker 1: Turn myself into a pickle, Morty! Boom! Big reveal. I'm
- 34:05Speaker 1: a pickle.
- 34:06Speaker 6: What do you think about that?
- 34:07Speaker 1: I turned myself into a pickle! I'm Pickle Rick!
- 34:11Speaker 10: This is a dill pickle. A mighty pretty pickle. Especially
- 34:14Speaker 10: when he joins you at the show. We have lots
- 34:17Speaker 10: of pretty pickles waiting for you at the refreshment center.
- 34:20Speaker 10: They're plump, tender, mouth-watering. Wouldn't one taste good right now?
- 34:35Speaker 6: I'll take every cent you've made.
- 34:42Speaker 1: So, you guys know we're broke, right?
- 34:45Speaker 6: We're always broke.
- 34:47Speaker 1: I know. And yet we're trying to put this show together.
- 34:50Speaker 1: Now how the hell can we keep the show rolling
- 34:53Speaker 1: if we're broke and we can't do this?
- 34:55Speaker 6: Sell special fiddle fowl.
- 34:59Speaker 9: Oh.
- 35:00Speaker 1: Or instead, murder people. Are you just taking random money
- 35:04Speaker 1: out of their pockets?
- 35:05Speaker 10: Well, yeah.
- 35:06Speaker 6: Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.
- 35:08Speaker 1: Hopefully it won't come to that.
- 35:10Speaker 6: Especially if they're peeping.
- 35:11Speaker 1: Some people will get on board with this.
- 35:14Speaker 6: Get on board with what?
- 35:15Speaker 1: The new Movie Meltdown Patreon page. And what is this?
- 35:19Speaker 1: If you go there, you can sponsor the show itself. Basically,
- 35:23Speaker 1: you just join the club. You join the Meltdown Club.
- 35:26Speaker 1: You become a milketeer.
- 35:26Speaker 6: Do you get a special decoder ring?
- 35:29Speaker 1: We already sent those out, but those people, nobody cares.
- 35:31Speaker 6: I didn't get a decoder ring.
- 35:32Speaker 1: You're not part of the club.
- 35:34Speaker 6: I'm never part of the club.
- 35:36Speaker 1: You're part of the secret circle, though.
- 35:38Speaker 3: It's okay.
- 35:39Speaker 1: But if you become a milketeer, you can get special
- 35:42Speaker 1: episodes that only come to you. I think you should
- 35:46Speaker 1: do it right now. Right now? I'm just saying. It's
- 35:48Speaker 1: maybe a couple of bucks. There's other levels you can
- 35:52Speaker 1: kick in and get fancier. Maybe a couple bucks.
- 35:53Speaker 4: You don't know.
- 35:54Speaker 1: Fancier stuff. But really, just a couple of bucks will
- 35:57Speaker 1: keep things rolling. What'll get me a pony? That's a
- 36:01Speaker 1: really high level. I'll have to figure out exactly what.
- 36:05Speaker 4: That's platinum membership right there.
- 36:07Speaker 1: That might be above platinum. We'll have to see.
- 36:10Speaker 4: What is above platinum?
- 36:12Speaker 1: Titanium. Titanium.
- 36:14Speaker 10: Really?
- 36:16Speaker 1: Maybe that's a step below.
- 36:17Speaker 9: I don't know.
- 36:18Speaker 1: We'll have to see.
- 36:18Speaker 6: Aluminium level.
- 36:20Speaker 3: That's way below.
- 36:22Speaker 6: Not if you say it fancy. Yeah.
- 36:25Speaker 3: Unobtainium.
- 36:27Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 36:29Speaker 1: Good luck with that. But for the rest of you,
- 36:31Speaker 1: go kick in a couple bucks. Keep the show rolling.
- 36:33Speaker 1: Go to patreon.com slash movie meltdown. And if you don't
- 36:37Speaker 1: know how to type all that in, go to the
- 36:39Speaker 1: movie meltdown.com page. And the link's right there. And you
- 36:42Speaker 1: can save this show.
- 36:44Speaker 6: And help me get a pony.
- 36:46Speaker 1: Damn them, man. Save the meltdown.
- 36:48Speaker 8: Get Missy a pony.
- 36:50Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 36:51Speaker 1: Priorities.
- 37:18Speaker 4: Hey, everybody.
- 37:19Speaker 8: I'm Tony Todd. You're listening to Movie Meltdown.
- 37:21Speaker 2: Pay attention and enjoy the conversations, the unique conversations.
- 37:35Speaker 3: It's time for Sofa Theater.
- 37:53Speaker 1: Dear Lord, we thank you for this meal being placed in.
- 37:57Speaker 6: Front of us on this night.
- 37:59Speaker 4: Everyone is excited to have your parents come and share
- 38:03Speaker 4: your life here at Brantford with them.
- 38:12Speaker 9: It's me just calling to see where you and mom are.
- 38:16Speaker 9: You mustn't continue to entertain the possibility that something's happened, Katherine.
- 38:20Speaker 6: It's not good for your health.
- 38:22Speaker 8: Rose, what about you?
- 38:24Speaker 2: Would you look after Kat until.
- 38:25Speaker 1: Her parents arrive?
- 38:29Speaker 9: You do know about them, right? She walked in on
- 38:32Speaker 9: them one night, worshipping the devil. The crazy thing is
- 38:37Speaker 9: that she's the one that had to go to the
- 38:39Speaker 9: mental hospital for us. Could still be there for all
- 38:42Speaker 9: I know.
- 38:44Speaker 4: Where are you heading?
- 38:45Speaker 2: We're going to Brantford. Do you know Brantford?
- 38:47Speaker 1: They're not going to call. They're dead.
- 38:52Speaker 12: Hi. Is there something wrong?
- 39:27Speaker 6: Is there anything else I can get you?
- 39:30Speaker 4: No.
- 39:30Speaker 1: You had your chance. Is she okay? Get your hands
- 39:36Speaker 1: off me. Did he tell you about our daughter?
- 39:42Speaker 2: That's my Rose.
- 39:43Speaker 9: She's pretty.
- 39:44Speaker 2: Do you believe in God, Joan?
- 39:47Speaker 12: No.
- 39:49Speaker 2: I look for him in the unlikely things that happen.
- 39:58Speaker 7: Diddle, diddle, black coat's daughter, what was in the holy water?
- 40:09Speaker 5: Gone to bed on an unclean head, the angels, they
- 40:18Speaker 5: forgot her. Diddle, diddle, black coat's daughter, what Was.
- 40:28Speaker 7: In the holy water.
- 40:32Speaker 5: Gone to bed on an unclean head.
- 40:38Speaker 7: The angels, they forgot her.
- 40:45Speaker 1: All right, so we are back. And this week... Technically,
- 40:49Speaker 1: you suggested this movie.
- 40:50Speaker 6: I've been wanting to see this movie since back when
- 40:52Speaker 6: it was called February. I have been waiting for this movie,
- 40:56Speaker 6: and it's felt like forever that I've been waiting for
- 40:58Speaker 6: this movie.
- 40:58Speaker 1: From what I saw, it had distribution things going on. So, yeah,
- 41:02Speaker 1: it became an issue for them, but it also made
- 41:04Speaker 1: you wait.
- 41:05Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 41:05Speaker 6: It was originally titled February, and it later became The
- 41:08Speaker 6: Black Coat's Daughter. And I've been wanting to see this
- 41:11Speaker 6: because it has my current ultimate female crush in it.
- 41:15Speaker 6: She is just like, I don't know, she fascinates me.
- 41:18Speaker 1: She is a fascinating woman.
- 41:19Speaker 6: And she's usually so good at being a bitch. Which
- 41:22Speaker 6: is why I recommend Scream Queens.
- 41:24Speaker 1: Previously mentioned.
- 41:26Speaker 6: I love Scream Queens.
- 41:28Speaker 4: And American Horror Story Coven.
- 41:31Speaker 6: Yep. She's good at that character, isn't she?
- 41:35Speaker 1: She is. Crazy person.
- 41:37Speaker 6: Crazy and a bitch. She's not quite as bitchy and
- 41:40Speaker 6: crazy in American Horror Story Freak Show. But she's still
- 41:44Speaker 6: kind of crazy.
- 41:46Speaker 11: Well.
- 41:46Speaker 1: As you mentioned, this week's Sofa Theater feature is The
- 41:49Speaker 1: Black Coat's Daughter. The year is 2015.
- 41:52Speaker 6: Did I say it's Emma Roberts? I feel like I
- 41:54Speaker 6: just zoned out on the woman crush thing. I don't
- 41:56Speaker 6: know if I actually mentioned her name, Emma Roberts.
- 41:58Speaker 1: Anybody who's listened to you yammer on about her in
- 42:00Speaker 1: the past would probably know she's crazy hit Emma Roberts.
- 42:03Speaker 6: She's so delightful.
- 42:05Speaker 1: She is.
- 42:05Speaker 6: Her and all of her teeth. She's got a lot
- 42:07Speaker 6: of teeth. I like that about her.
- 42:08Speaker 1: It's a Roberts thing.
- 42:09Speaker 6: It is.
- 42:11Speaker 1: The director is Osgood Perkins, and the plot, according to IMDb,
- 42:16Speaker 1: two girls must battle a mysterious evil force when they
- 42:19Speaker 1: are left behind at their boarding school over winter break.
- 42:21Speaker 1: Not exactly... One.
- 42:23Speaker 6: Of them's not really battling very hard.
- 42:24Speaker 1: I know. It's not really how that goes, but I
- 42:27Speaker 1: guess it's somewhat close to the real world. So, spoiler alert,
- 42:30Speaker 1: we're going to ruin this.
- 42:31Speaker 6: We're going to spoil the shit out of this movie.
- 42:32Speaker 1: Go watch it now, and you should anyway. It's definitely
- 42:35Speaker 1: worth seeing. I don't know that it will agree with everyone, though.
- 42:39Speaker 1: It's a different mood than everybody's looking for.
- 42:42Speaker 6: I liked it, and I had issues with it.
- 42:44Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 42:45Speaker 6: Fair warning.
- 42:46Speaker 1: If you haven't watched it and you're still listening, that's
- 42:47Speaker 1: your own fault. But, yeah, it's not necessarily for everyone.
- 42:51Speaker 6: It seemed way more artsy than I thought it was
- 42:53Speaker 6: going to be. There was a lot of long, drawn-out
- 42:57Speaker 6: shots that I'm like, all right, I've seen this windowsill
- 42:59Speaker 6: for way too long now. Fucking move on.
- 43:03Speaker 1: In the artsy realm, my... And very early on, I'm like, okay,
- 43:07Speaker 1: I'm already thinking of this weird artsy word, which is Lynchian.
- 43:13Speaker 1: To me, it had a very David Lynch vibe. You think?
- 43:17Speaker 1: But not... Well, see, that's the thing. Most people use
- 43:19Speaker 1: that term, and they're talking about a weird surreal kind
- 43:22Speaker 1: of a thing with weird visuals. I don't mean it
- 43:25Speaker 1: visually looked like a David Lynch movie, because I don't
- 43:27Speaker 1: think it did. And really, even story-wise, I don't think
- 43:30Speaker 1: it went the way of a David Lynch movie. I
- 43:31Speaker 1: feel like dialogue-wise... and the weird character disconnect. Because I
- 43:37Speaker 1: was like, the more I watched this, I was like, yeah,
- 43:39Speaker 1: that is kind of like in all of his movies. Specifically, like,
- 43:43Speaker 1: if you go into Twin Peaks, too, it's like, characters
- 43:47Speaker 1: will be talking to each other, and one, they'll all
- 43:50Speaker 1: usually be kind of weird anyway, because it's David Lynch,
- 43:52Speaker 1: but at the same time, they'll be saying things to
- 43:54Speaker 1: each other, and one, at least one, if not both
- 43:57Speaker 1: of them, aren't really paying attention to what the other
- 43:59Speaker 1: person's saying. Or, like, they'll ask a question and it
- 44:01Speaker 1: will just go nowhere and fall flat.
- 44:03Speaker 6: That's like talking to me, though, half the time.
- 44:05Speaker 1: Yeah, sometimes. But, I'm like, seriously, and there's so many
- 44:08Speaker 1: times in this where one will say something to the other,
- 44:11Speaker 1: specifically a question a lot of the time, and it
- 44:14Speaker 1: will go unanswered. And they'll go on with what they're doing.
- 44:16Speaker 1: And I'm just like, are you guys in the same room?
- 44:19Speaker 1: And I'm not really using it as a criticism. I'm
- 44:21Speaker 1: just saying this is how it is. Like, as I
- 44:24Speaker 1: got into it, I'm like, it's not, like, it's, like
- 44:27Speaker 1: by accident it's not like he just oh this is
- 44:30Speaker 1: written badly I'm like no no if you go through
- 44:32Speaker 1: it's like he specifically set it up and this is
- 44:37Speaker 1: the character study we're doing this is what we're doing
- 44:40Speaker 1: here is like watching these weird people none of which
- 44:43Speaker 1: really know how to interact with each other they all
- 44:45Speaker 1: have this weird disconnect.
- 44:47Speaker 8: There's something funny.
- 44:50Speaker 3: You smiled a little funny.
- 44:55Speaker 9: No why.
- 44:59Speaker 1: I mean, I just wish you could stay and see
- 45:01Speaker 1: my performance.
- 45:02Speaker 5: That's all.
- 45:06Speaker 1: So yeah, I don't know. The whole thing is just
- 45:08Speaker 1: a collection of uneasy pauses. Like the whole first half
- 45:12Speaker 1: is just like... Fast forward.
- 45:15Speaker 4: Zoom.
- 45:15Speaker 6: A little bit faster.
- 45:17Speaker 1: It's like in the movie.
- 45:17Speaker 6: That's what I'm talking about. It's just there was so
- 45:19Speaker 6: much awkward just waiting. I'm just like, come on. Keep going.
- 45:23Speaker 1: Especially the first couple of scenes. Like her and the
- 45:27Speaker 1: priest at the beginning. And I'm like, are you guys
- 45:29Speaker 1: having the same conversation? Like they would be, then again,
- 45:32Speaker 1: that's what I'm saying. It's like, they would be having
- 45:34Speaker 1: sentences back and forth and it's like, they didn't match
- 45:37Speaker 1: where she was never listening to what he was saying.
- 45:39Speaker 1: And then she'd just say something else random. And I'm like,
- 45:41Speaker 1: are you the log lady? Cause that's the kind of
- 45:43Speaker 1: nonsense she spouts out when she doesn't listen to people.
- 45:45Speaker 1: So that's what I'm like. It's that kind of thing
- 45:47Speaker 1: where it's like, it's just focuses on these disconnected characters.
- 45:53Speaker 1: But again, I think it's on purpose. Like, I think
- 45:55Speaker 1: that's what he's going for. So that's why I'm like, you,
- 45:58Speaker 1: may not like it but i feel like he's doing
- 46:00Speaker 1: what he wants to do in this process yes so
- 46:05Speaker 1: um what else as we get to i mean even
- 46:09Speaker 1: by that point we get to the point again one
- 46:11Speaker 1: of my other major revelations and or just acknowledgments in
- 46:16Speaker 1: the middle of this is anything sounds super creepy if
- 46:19Speaker 1: you put that crazy ominous music in the background.
- 46:23Speaker 6: Everything's creepy with that.
- 46:24Speaker 3: That's what I'm saying.
- 46:25Speaker 1: Like, right now, we're going to add some right here.
- 46:26Speaker 6: We could have a video of, like, kittens and puppies,
- 46:28Speaker 6: and it's going to sound all super creepy if you
- 46:30Speaker 6: put the right music in there.
- 46:33Speaker 1: Doesn't Misty sound super creepy right now?
- 46:35Speaker 6: I always sound super creepy.
- 46:36Speaker 1: Oh, that's true. But anyway, this music's not helping. So,
- 46:41Speaker 1: and I guess points to Elvis, because, you know, the
- 46:44Speaker 1: other half of this little duo is his brother, Elvis Perkins, and, like,
- 46:49Speaker 1: He did all of them. Like if you look at
- 46:51Speaker 1: the credits, it's like everything on there. Like even the
- 46:54Speaker 1: stuff that sounded like it wasn't from him was written
- 46:56Speaker 1: by him.
- 46:56Speaker 6: So it's like, the last song was creepy though.
- 46:58Speaker 1: The last song is creepy. And he wrote that too.
- 47:00Speaker 1: And I was just like, wow, he really like was
- 47:02Speaker 1: all in on this music. And what I read, he
- 47:06Speaker 1: didn't seem like he liked the process. Like again, he's
- 47:08Speaker 1: more a singer songwriter. So like going into film scoring, like,
- 47:12Speaker 1: I think it was a bigger chore than he was
- 47:14Speaker 1: prepared for, but like he did a great job. Like,
- 47:17Speaker 1: this is what you're trying to do is make this creepy,
- 47:19Speaker 1: super moody, atmospheric music. Like it's there.
- 47:23Speaker 6: They didn't have the most normal upbringing either. Considering, you know,
- 47:27Speaker 6: their dad being Anthony Perkins. In my head, he has
- 47:30Speaker 6: like all those birds are like.
- 47:34Speaker 1: I know he's still in the study in his house, but.
- 47:36Speaker 6: In my brain, that's what Anthony Perkins house looked like.
- 47:39Speaker 6: There was just like taxidermy birds and animals everywhere. And
- 47:42Speaker 6: I know that's probably a wrong misconception, but in my head,
- 47:46Speaker 6: That's what it looks like.
- 47:47Speaker 1: And every day he'd come home and get a blanket
- 47:50Speaker 1: and bunch himself up under it like the.
- 47:52Speaker 6: End of the movie and just sit there.
- 47:53Speaker 1: Or dress in old ladies clothes. Or dress in old
- 47:55Speaker 1: ladies clothes.
- 47:55Speaker 4: Whichever.
- 47:56Speaker 1: We all have those days where you just hold on
- 48:00Speaker 1: an old lady dress and kick back and watch a
- 48:03Speaker 1: movie with a wig. Whatever. You know, your day. That's
- 48:06Speaker 1: how you want to roll.
- 48:07Speaker 6: That's cool.
- 48:08Speaker 1: No, I don't know. I think I'll get to that
- 48:11Speaker 1: later because I think that is sort of a bigger
- 48:13Speaker 1: issue as we get into this. I was just Going
- 48:16Speaker 1: through more of my ridiculous comments, because as creepy and
- 48:21Speaker 1: atmospheric as I think this movie is, it still can't
- 48:24Speaker 1: take me out of the moments when I'm just a
- 48:26Speaker 1: smartass and I still make my smartass comments.
- 48:29Speaker 6: The hell you say.
- 48:30Speaker 1: So, as we get to, again, kind of jumping ahead,
- 48:34Speaker 1: but she's creepily in the basement. I'm like, is she
- 48:37Speaker 1: worshiping the furnace?
- 48:39Speaker 6: That's where the demon lives.
- 48:41Speaker 1: I was like, well, is this an updated version? Because
- 48:44Speaker 1: back in the old days, people used to worship the
- 48:46Speaker 1: sun god. It's brought us warmth and life. Now it's
- 48:51Speaker 1: in our basement somewhere. I'm like, I'm going to go
- 48:54Speaker 1: offer something up to the furnace. I'll be back in
- 48:56Speaker 1: a minute. I still had moments of my normal smart-ass behavior,
- 49:02Speaker 1: but in the.
- 49:03Speaker 6: Middle of the winter when it's cold as shit I
- 49:05Speaker 6: don't even care I will worship the furnace gods because
- 49:07Speaker 6: you know.
- 49:07Speaker 1: What that's what I'm saying I'm like they do kind
- 49:09Speaker 1: of bring us life at this point in a modern
- 49:11Speaker 1: day scenario that's kind of how it goes.
- 49:14Speaker 6: Give me enough days with no heat and I don't
- 49:17Speaker 6: even care. I'll decapitate some bitches. If it means I
- 49:19Speaker 6: might get some heat. Any police officers listening, that was
- 49:24Speaker 6: a total fabrication and completely facetious. I've never decapitated anybody.
- 49:33Speaker 1: That aside, at what point do you, because I think
- 49:35Speaker 1: this is one of those other things where you get
- 49:37Speaker 1: to like A dividing line if you're like, okay, this
- 49:42Speaker 1: is different timelines. Because you go in, in the first
- 49:45Speaker 1: half of that movie, you're just like, okay, we're picking
- 49:48Speaker 1: up in two different locations, but it's all kind of
- 49:50Speaker 1: one big story. And then you're like, eventually, again, spoilers
- 49:54Speaker 1: thrown out there, it is one big story, but you
- 49:56Speaker 1: don't quite realize the detachment.
- 49:59Speaker 6: Because you have the girls at school, and then you
- 50:02Speaker 6: have Joan.
- 50:03Speaker 1: Which is not her real name, by the way. The
- 50:05Speaker 1: hell you say. I know.
- 50:07Speaker 4: Her name's her kid, Joan.
- 50:09Speaker 6: Apparently the nurse... Apparently the nurse at the asylum. Her
- 50:14Speaker 6: parents named her Joan.
- 50:15Speaker 1: Not no more.
- 50:17Speaker 6: Anyway, so yeah, you have the girls at the school
- 50:19Speaker 6: and you have Joan, who is as always crazy head
- 50:23Speaker 6: robert's crazy head she's like a little extra crazy head
- 50:26Speaker 6: here she's not quite so showy about it but she
- 50:28Speaker 6: eventually proves herself to be crazy but she's more crazy
- 50:31Speaker 6: in the actual literal term instead of the just completely
- 50:33Speaker 6: balls out completely look at me i'm.
- 50:35Speaker 1: Crazy obnoxious kind of crazy but adorably a little more
- 50:38Speaker 1: subdued crazy here until it's not so subdued but more legit.
- 50:42Speaker 6: Crazy yeah um because yeah there's like i said two
- 50:45Speaker 6: different timelines because you don't you're not really sure what's
- 50:48Speaker 6: going on and I was kind of afraid they were
- 50:50Speaker 6: going to go somewhere else with the parents. Because Joan,
- 50:56Speaker 6: she's out trying to make her way to not really
- 50:59Speaker 6: where the school is. Because she kind of looks at
- 51:00Speaker 6: it and she's like, I'll go around the school. And
- 51:02Speaker 6: then you find out that that was it.
- 51:05Speaker 1: I have questions about that later, too. But continue on.
- 51:08Speaker 6: But yeah, and then she gets picked up by some parents.
- 51:11Speaker 6: And I was so worried because the dad, I'm like,
- 51:14Speaker 6: where are they going to go with this? Because there
- 51:16Speaker 6: was this time when they were alone in the hotel room.
- 51:18Speaker 1: Don't be a creeper. Don't be a creeper.
- 51:20Speaker 6: I was worried because she did the whole where's your
- 51:22Speaker 6: wife thing. And I'm like, oh, are they going to
- 51:24Speaker 6: go there with this?
- 51:25Speaker 1: More than that, and this is shifting a little more
- 51:28Speaker 1: back to her and not blame, just questioning, what the fuck? Okay,
- 51:33Speaker 1: so you're a girl type person. This guy you met
- 51:37Speaker 1: a few hours ago, barely spoken to, comes to your
- 51:41Speaker 1: hotel room, you're wearing a towel, you just open the door?
- 51:45Speaker 6: Yeah, that's not something I'm thinking I'd.
- 51:46Speaker 4: Be okay with.
- 51:46Speaker 6: I was just like, why would you open the door?
- 51:48Speaker 1: Because she's crazy. I know this is a movie and
- 51:49Speaker 1: you're using movie logic, and yes, she is crazy as
- 51:52Speaker 1: the story unfolds, but I'm just like, who the hell,
- 51:55Speaker 1: girl in their right mind in this day and age,
- 51:57Speaker 1: opens their door while wearing a towel to a dude
- 51:59Speaker 1: she's barely ever met?
- 52:00Speaker 6: It does not segue into that situation.
- 52:03Speaker 4: Because she's crazy.
- 52:04Speaker 1: She is a little bit crazy. But, again, to slightly
- 52:07Speaker 1: jump ahead.
- 52:07Speaker 4: And I'm almost wondering if she was trying to tempt
- 52:09Speaker 4: him into that situation.
- 52:11Speaker 1: Definitely by the time she got to, where's your wife?
- 52:13Speaker 1: I was like, maybe she's trying to, again, maybe. Put
- 52:17Speaker 1: him in a situation. Or maybe just jump the gun
- 52:19Speaker 1: and it would have not even made it as far
- 52:21Speaker 1: as it did.
- 52:21Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 52:21Speaker 1: Because I feel like she would have black widowed his
- 52:23Speaker 1: ass right in the middle. But, anyway, you never know.
- 52:26Speaker 6: Praying menace.
- 52:27Speaker 1: Yeah. They do take their heads off.
- 52:29Speaker 6: I know. That's what I'm saying.
- 52:30Speaker 9: Spoiler.
- 52:32Speaker 1: But yeah, so I don't know. That was mine is
- 52:34Speaker 1: just the, that, and again, part of that same thing
- 52:38Speaker 1: of like just disjointed characters and logic. And I'm like,
- 52:42Speaker 1: but no.
- 52:43Speaker 6: There wasn't a lot of logic.
- 52:44Speaker 4: Nobody does that.
- 52:45Speaker 1: Yeah. Well, again, I think you're busy like trying to
- 52:47Speaker 1: figure out exactly what's going on to even apply. That
- 52:50Speaker 1: was just a very real world question.
- 52:52Speaker 4: Of wait, wait, wait, what the hell? Like.
- 52:54Speaker 1: So.
- 52:55Speaker 6: I felt uneasy in that scene just because I'm like,
- 52:57Speaker 6: don't go there because just stop.
- 52:59Speaker 10: Yeah, yeah.
- 53:00Speaker 6: Because I'm like, because so many movies do that. And
- 53:03Speaker 6: I'm just like, don't lower your standards, movie. You can
- 53:06Speaker 6: do better than this.
- 53:08Speaker 1: I have another one of those scenarios.
- 53:09Speaker 6: Although, I'm not going to lie, Dexter's dad is hot.
- 53:12Speaker 1: I've seen him in the real world.
- 53:14Speaker 6: I can't remember his name.
- 53:15Speaker 1: Many... James Remar.
- 53:16Speaker 13: Um.
- 53:18Speaker 10: Oh, yeah.
- 53:18Speaker 1: Many, yeah, it's been many years now. But at one
- 53:22Speaker 1: point at one of these here convention type things, not
- 53:24Speaker 1: this one, but again, we've gone to God knows how
- 53:27Speaker 1: many conventions over the years. At one, we were actually
- 53:29Speaker 1: staying in a hotel and we were on the same
- 53:31Speaker 1: floor as he was. So at least once, if not
- 53:35Speaker 1: a couple of times, there was like an, again, back
- 53:38Speaker 1: to awkward, awkward elevator exchange of like, hey, how's it going?
- 53:42Speaker 1: I don't think we got any further than that. I
- 53:44Speaker 1: didn't pester him. I don't do that to people as
- 53:45Speaker 1: best as I can. I'm pretty well behaved. Hell, even
- 53:49Speaker 1: on the show, I try to control myself with my geekery. So, yeah,
- 53:53Speaker 1: I was just like a little bit of that, hey,
- 53:56Speaker 1: what's up? And then we'd go off to our separate rooms. But, yeah,
- 54:00Speaker 1: I've seen him walking to his room. He's still out ahead.
- 54:04Speaker 8: At that point.
- 54:04Speaker 6: You didn't go to the bathroom with him or anything?
- 54:06Speaker 1: No, no, that's another list of celebrities that I don't
- 54:10Speaker 1: need to. I don't need for that to happen, but
- 54:13Speaker 1: it has happened several times over the years.
- 54:17Speaker 6: I've never peed next to a celebrity that I'm aware of.
- 54:20Speaker 1: It's harder when they hide you guys in the girl rooms.
- 54:24Speaker 1: They go all the way up.
- 54:26Speaker 6: You need to start checking out celebrity shoes. That way,
- 54:28Speaker 6: if I go in the bathroom, I can look under
- 54:29Speaker 6: the stalls and be like, I see your feet.
- 54:31Speaker 1: You're just knocking.
- 54:32Speaker 6: Is this Linda Blair in there?
- 54:34Speaker 1: I can see your shoes. No, leave me alone, weirdo.
- 54:37Speaker 6: Why you got Linda Blair shoes on?
- 54:39Speaker 1: I bought them. 40 bucks. She was happy to have them.
- 54:43Speaker 6: She signed one. But yeah, I like this movie. I
- 54:49Speaker 6: hate winter so much that it rubbed off on this
- 54:51Speaker 6: movie a little bit. I started getting that claustrophobic winter
- 54:54Speaker 6: feeling because I detest winter. And this movie is so winter.
- 54:58Speaker 6: It makes you feel cold just watching it because there's
- 55:02Speaker 6: just snow everywhere. And I fucking hate the snow and
- 55:06Speaker 6: the cold. Even when it's like 80 degrees in the house,
- 55:09Speaker 6: if I know there's snow outside, I am. fucking cold
- 55:12Speaker 6: i am freezing i got like five blankets on me and.
- 55:15Speaker 4: It usually is 85 degrees in the house yeah i
- 55:17Speaker 4: was gonna say i'm not.
- 55:18Speaker 6: Even joking not even being facetious which is my word
- 55:20Speaker 6: of the day but it's like it could literally like
- 55:22Speaker 6: literally 85 degrees in here and i'm like i see
- 55:24Speaker 6: the snow outside i know it's cold i need a blanket.
- 55:26Speaker 1: So you don't need a blanket you need a blindfold
- 55:28Speaker 1: yeah i can feel it i can feel it i
- 55:30Speaker 1: sense the snow i'm like smilla yeah but i can
- 55:35Speaker 1: i can again, almost like points to that. Like it's
- 55:39Speaker 1: not just the music, but he shoots it super atmospheric.
- 55:42Speaker 1: Like both of the brothers have a good handle on
- 55:46Speaker 1: like how to make a creepy movie. So that's another
- 55:49Speaker 1: one of those things. I was like, as we get
- 55:51Speaker 1: into this, I'm like, why are we even doing horror?
- 55:55Speaker 1: Because it's one of those, like it could very easily,
- 55:57Speaker 1: I think it's just because he's drawn to horror that
- 55:59Speaker 1: he's right here and director on this project. So it's like,
- 56:03Speaker 1: I guess he's just drawn to horror, but, you could
- 56:06Speaker 1: very easily do a version of this story that's just
- 56:09Speaker 1: a drama.
- 56:10Speaker 6: Yeah, because there's so many other things going on.
- 56:12Speaker 1: Yeah, like, minus the, because so much of it, as
- 56:15Speaker 1: you get into it, is just about dealing with grief,
- 56:18Speaker 1: you know? It really is just, like, weird messed up
- 56:21Speaker 1: people and sadness and, like, so, I mean, there's a
- 56:24Speaker 1: way to do it that's not such a horror angle
- 56:26Speaker 1: and more of, like, oh my god, this is just
- 56:29Speaker 1: a super heavy drama, like, dealing with Because not only is.
- 56:31Speaker 6: There death and grief, but the one girl's pregnant, which
- 56:34Speaker 6: is fucking ugh.
- 56:35Speaker 1: I'm just like. And then the one moment where she's like, yes,
- 56:39Speaker 1: thank God.
- 56:39Speaker 11: Not pregnant.
- 56:40Speaker 1: My life can go on. And dead.
- 56:43Speaker 4: Spoiler alert.
- 56:43Speaker 1: That was kind of the most horrifying part of that.
- 56:46Speaker 1: But she just, oh, come on, man. Cut her a break.
- 56:50Speaker 1: She just found out her life is going to be okay.
- 56:53Speaker 1: She doesn't have to put up with that stupid guy.
- 56:56Speaker 1: not attached to him for the rest of her life.
- 56:58Speaker 6: No shit.
- 56:59Speaker 1: She doesn't have to drive herself up to get taken
- 57:01Speaker 1: care of. Any of these bad options. Like, none of
- 57:03Speaker 1: it's good. So, I was like, yeah, she skated by,
- 57:07Speaker 1: she was all happy, and now look what happened.
- 57:10Speaker 6: People.
- 57:11Speaker 4: Stabby people.
- 57:13Speaker 6: Cutting the damn heads off.
- 57:15Speaker 1: But yeah, the split timeline thing, I was gonna say, like,
- 57:18Speaker 1: I think even, because you certainly have a big clue
- 57:21Speaker 1: when you bust out the picture. But even then, I
- 57:24Speaker 1: was like, all right, so now are we doing a
- 57:26Speaker 1: weird ghost story? But I'm like, I'm watching Rose and
- 57:29Speaker 1: I'm like, Rose is pretty human. Like she's pretty grounded, basic.
- 57:34Speaker 1: She's the most normal one of the entirety of that school.
- 57:37Speaker 1: Everybody else there is weird and creepy. And like, she's
- 57:40Speaker 1: kind of the only semi-normal person in the story. So
- 57:44Speaker 1: I'm like, she doesn't seem ghostly. So what are we?
- 57:48Speaker 1: And as it gets on, so it gets to that
- 57:50Speaker 1: point of, And I think what the full on, I
- 57:54Speaker 1: guess it's right when we get to the stabbing. Like,
- 57:58Speaker 1: I think at that point there's no turning back. You're like, okay,
- 58:00Speaker 1: obviously you're forcing us to move into a news timeline
- 58:04Speaker 1: because this can't be going on. Like when we take
- 58:08Speaker 1: her out of the picture, Rose is gone. And then
- 58:10Speaker 1: we have nothing but that other half of the story left.
- 58:14Speaker 1: And now we know he's the dad. We're like, okay,
- 58:16Speaker 1: well now I guess we're jumping ahead in time. Which
- 58:19Speaker 1: my clue, actually, I'll give them.
- 58:21Speaker 6: Well, my clue, they literally said our daughter was killed
- 58:23Speaker 6: nine years ago. Here she is.
- 58:24Speaker 1: That was a few minutes before. But no, mine, like
- 58:26Speaker 1: right off the bat, when she comes in and she's
- 58:28Speaker 1: sitting there in that super awkward conversation with the priest,
- 58:31Speaker 1: he busts out a flip phone. I was just like,
- 58:34Speaker 1: either he's super uncool, which yes, he is. But at
- 58:38Speaker 1: the same time, I'm like, nine years ago, there would
- 58:41Speaker 1: have been a lot of people with flip phones. I
- 58:43Speaker 1: was like, that was kind of a nice little touch there.
- 58:45Speaker 1: And I'm like, all right, I see what you're doing there.
- 58:48Speaker 1: You planted that seed. You have to kind of be
- 58:50Speaker 1: paying attention to be like, why does that old weird
- 58:52Speaker 1: dude get a flip phone? He's just really uncool.
- 58:55Speaker 6: My mom's got a flip phone.
- 58:57Speaker 1: I know.
- 58:58Speaker 6: That's why I'm saying it's not out of this realm
- 59:00Speaker 6: of possibility.
- 59:00Speaker 1: And that's why I said, that's why I didn't totally.
- 59:02Speaker 4: Richie carries a flip phone.
- 59:03Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 59:04Speaker 1: It's why I didn't totally go with that immediately. I
- 59:06Speaker 1: just sort of went, all right, just taking notes, just
- 59:09Speaker 1: just keeping track he's just super and cool that's all
- 59:12Speaker 1: right but then later i'm like all right nine years
- 59:14Speaker 1: ago yeah that seems about right like that was right
- 59:17Speaker 1: at the onslaught of fancy phones taking over the world
- 59:20Speaker 1: so So.
- 59:21Speaker 6: Yeah, there was the whole, when the mom, they showed
- 59:23Speaker 6: the mom, the Rose's, was it Rose? The dark haired
- 59:26Speaker 6: girl with the baby.
- 59:27Speaker 1: Yeah, the dead one.
- 59:28Speaker 6: Yeah. Anyways, because they have, like I said, the parents,
- 59:31Speaker 6: Rose's parents are the ones who pick up crackhead Emma Roberts. Yeah, Joan.
- 59:37Speaker 6: Fake name. Which immediately I'm like, that's Dexter's dad, James Remar.
- 59:42Speaker 1: That one I knew.
- 59:43Speaker 7: Oh yeah.
- 59:43Speaker 6: And then I saw the mom and I'm like, wait
- 59:44Speaker 6: a second.
- 59:45Speaker 1: I know her.
- 59:45Speaker 6: I haven't seen her in a good long time, but
- 59:47Speaker 6: I know who she is. I know who she is.
- 59:49Speaker 6: What's her fucking name? Fucking Lauren Hawley. What the fuck
- 59:52Speaker 6: has she been up to these years?
- 59:54Speaker 1: I don't know. Avoiding Jim Carrey?
- 59:57Speaker 6: Can you blame her?
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: Speaking of awkward conversation, I'm just going to go over here, Jim.
- 1:00:04Speaker 1: I'll not be in a movie with you later. but
- 1:00:07Speaker 1: um yeah that was one of those like it it's
- 1:00:10Speaker 1: so not focusing on who that is because that's the
- 1:00:13Speaker 1: thing it's like she did kind of seem familiar but
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: her hair.
- 1:00:16Speaker 6: Was off her hair was off i'm like red red.
- 1:00:18Speaker 1: Well and it's like it's you never that's the thing
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: you see james remar like in full light in the
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: hotel room and like he's he's kind of the focus
- 1:00:26Speaker 1: of that little scenario with him where the wife is
- 1:00:29Speaker 1: so secondary And like she's almost always shot from the
- 1:00:33Speaker 1: back seat because that's where our character is. So we're
- 1:00:35Speaker 1: getting her point of view. So it's like her just
- 1:00:37Speaker 1: kind of half looking over her shoulder. It's winter. So
- 1:00:40Speaker 1: she's wearing a giant coat. She's wearing a hat. Like
- 1:00:42Speaker 1: she's got different hair. Like, so it is one of those,
- 1:00:44Speaker 1: like the whole time I'm like, she looks kind of familiar,
- 1:00:47Speaker 1: but I can't a hundred percent. And so it wasn't
- 1:00:49Speaker 1: till the end when I got to the car, I'm like,
- 1:00:50Speaker 1: all right, that could have been one of my guesses
- 1:00:52Speaker 1: if she was still acting, but I guess she's still acting. So.
- 1:00:55Speaker 6: And maybe it's just me, but I don't know if
- 1:00:56Speaker 6: I'm the only one that the vibe that maybe something
- 1:00:58Speaker 6: else was going to happen because the way the mom,
- 1:01:00Speaker 6: She kind of... The way she said some things, like,
- 1:01:03Speaker 6: it made me wonder. She's like, when she said the whole,
- 1:01:05Speaker 6: did he tell you that she was like them? He
- 1:01:07Speaker 6: always tells them that. I'm like, are they going to
- 1:01:08Speaker 6: kill her? Because they have this kind of thing where
- 1:01:11Speaker 6: it seems like.
- 1:01:12Speaker 4: He picks up hitchhiking girls a lot.
- 1:01:13Speaker 6: Yeah, or he takes girls, or... Because they're going to visit,
- 1:01:17Speaker 6: you know, find out they're going to their daughter's grave.
- 1:01:18Speaker 6: And I'm like, okay, does he pick up a girl
- 1:01:20Speaker 6: who he claims reminded him of his daughter, and they
- 1:01:24Speaker 6: do something to her? You know?
- 1:01:26Speaker 1: That actually just... Real world. Like, I just came home,
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: and the TV was on, and whatever dumb channel it
- 1:01:32Speaker 1: was on, and it was one of the murder stories,
- 1:01:34Speaker 1: because that's all that's on half of those cable channels.
- 1:01:36Speaker 6: Well, it's always on here, like 98% of the time.
- 1:01:37Speaker 1: Recreating murder stories. But there was one. It was a
- 1:01:40Speaker 1: husband and wife team, essentially. And he... killed a lot
- 1:01:44Speaker 1: of people but she was not only aware of it
- 1:01:47Speaker 1: she they were kind of swingers anyway so they would
- 1:01:49Speaker 1: lure girls in on this promise of hey we're gonna
- 1:01:52Speaker 1: have this fun time and then he would usually kill
- 1:01:55Speaker 1: her she would be involved in the luring her in
- 1:01:58Speaker 1: and helping cover it up later so it that stuff
- 1:02:01Speaker 1: happens in the real world this.
- 1:02:02Speaker 6: Was it was it the Carla home lock chick was
- 1:02:05Speaker 6: it they were.
- 1:02:05Speaker 1: They started in actually I think most of them were
- 1:02:08Speaker 1: in England actually the one that I saw on TV
- 1:02:10Speaker 1: but again obviously it happens more often than that so
- 1:02:13Speaker 1: That's a real-world scenario. They could have been luring her in.
- 1:02:16Speaker 6: That's just the feeling I got. I'm like, which way
- 1:02:17Speaker 6: are they? Because they set it up where it felt,
- 1:02:20Speaker 6: to me anyways, like it could go that way. Because
- 1:02:21Speaker 6: when they did the whole, you know, he always tells them, like,
- 1:02:25Speaker 6: this is something they do. And just the way she
- 1:02:27Speaker 6: just seemed kind of, like, angry. Like, that's why I
- 1:02:31Speaker 6: got this feeling, like, are they going to, okay, somebody's
- 1:02:34Speaker 6: going to die. Who's going to kill who? Because I
- 1:02:36Speaker 6: know somebody's going to die. Is it going to be,
- 1:02:38Speaker 6: are they going to get her? Is she going to
- 1:02:40Speaker 6: get them?
- 1:02:41Speaker 1: Well, at that point, you kind of know all bets
- 1:02:44Speaker 1: are off. The first half, once again, you're just like,
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: something's weird. Something's going on. I don't exactly know what
- 1:02:51Speaker 1: it is. Might be a demon. Might be a crazy girl.
- 1:02:55Speaker 1: I don't know. So you really are just kind of
- 1:02:57Speaker 1: in this weird gray area for that first half of
- 1:02:59Speaker 1: the movie. From the moment Catherine takes out Rose, it's like, okay,
- 1:03:04Speaker 1: now we know crazy, and people are going to get murdered.
- 1:03:06Speaker 1: So at that point, I guess, like, okay... now you're
- 1:03:09Speaker 1: looking for the red flags. You're like, from that point on,
- 1:03:11Speaker 1: I am like, okay, so now not only am I
- 1:03:12Speaker 1: trying to figure out this new timeline.
- 1:03:15Speaker 6: Catherine had already killed two people before she even got
- 1:03:17Speaker 6: to Rose.
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: Oh yeah, before she got to her and before that too.
- 1:03:20Speaker 1: I'm trying to do what the countdown was because they
- 1:03:22Speaker 1: had quite a few.
- 1:03:24Speaker 6: She killed the two teachers.
- 1:03:25Speaker 1: She killed both the teachers. She killed Rose. She killed
- 1:03:28Speaker 1: the nurse.
- 1:03:29Speaker 4: Did she kill, I don't, she killed, yeah.
- 1:03:32Speaker 1: I don't think so. He just shot her.
- 1:03:33Speaker 4: No, she killed one of the cops, I think, in
- 1:03:36Speaker 4: the house.
- 1:03:37Speaker 6: When the cops got there, she was already back at
- 1:03:38Speaker 6: the school.
- 1:03:39Speaker 1: Yeah, she was crazy in the basement.
- 1:03:41Speaker 4: Okay, because for some reason I thought she killed one
- 1:03:43Speaker 4: of the cops.
- 1:03:45Speaker 1: I don't think so, because there was a rundown at
- 1:03:47Speaker 1: some point.
- 1:03:48Speaker 6: He came after. He found her in the basement, remember?
- 1:03:51Speaker 6: Where she had the heads all lined up.
- 1:03:53Speaker 1: Like you do. That's how I keep mine.
- 1:03:56Speaker 6: Alphabetical order.
- 1:03:57Speaker 1: Yeah, obviously.
- 1:03:58Speaker 6: Or by size, because I can't tell which kind of
- 1:04:00Speaker 6: crazy she is, alphabetical or by size. And he comes
- 1:04:03Speaker 6: at her and he's just telling her to put the
- 1:04:04Speaker 6: knife down.
- 1:04:05Speaker 1: And then he shoots her.
- 1:04:06Speaker 3: Drop the knife!
- 1:04:08Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:04:09Speaker 6: But, yeah, I don't think she actually killed any cops
- 1:04:13Speaker 6: that I'm aware of, that I can remember. She killed
- 1:04:15Speaker 6: the nurse at the crazy house because they put her
- 1:04:17Speaker 6: in a crazy house.
- 1:04:19Speaker 1: And then... And then the couple. So, yeah, there's a
- 1:04:21Speaker 1: good amount of dead bodies for, again, a movie that's
- 1:04:25Speaker 1: slowly making its way. You're going, is anybody, what's going
- 1:04:28Speaker 1: on here? Is anybody going to die? And that's, again,
- 1:04:30Speaker 1: points on the, like, Both of those knife murders, like,
- 1:04:34Speaker 1: you know something's about to happen. It still kind of
- 1:04:36Speaker 1: catches you off guard. Like, both times I'm like, okay, she's,
- 1:04:39Speaker 1: I assume she was still going to have, like, again,
- 1:04:41Speaker 1: it's a movie. You're waiting for the big, I'm going
- 1:04:44Speaker 1: to give you a big speech before I kill you
- 1:04:46Speaker 1: when she, you know, starts coming out in the hallway. Like,
- 1:04:48Speaker 1: you know Rose is creeping around like a normal slasher movie.
- 1:04:51Speaker 1: You're expecting her to turn around. Now that we know
- 1:04:54Speaker 1: she's responsible, we watched her take out the two old ladies.
- 1:04:57Speaker 1: So it's just like, okay, now we're gonna have a big,
- 1:04:59Speaker 1: long confrontation. Yeah, a big, long speech about why she's
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: doing this or something. She just comes out and goes
- 1:05:06Speaker 1: to town on her with that knife. So that was
- 1:05:09Speaker 1: a little under, and then when we get to the parents, too,
- 1:05:11Speaker 1: I'm like, all right, something's about to, oh, shit, it's
- 1:05:13Speaker 1: already happened. I kind of knew it was about to
- 1:05:16Speaker 1: do something.
- 1:05:17Speaker 6: I figured they'd at least get out of the car first.
- 1:05:18Speaker 1: Yeah, I was like, he didn't even get a chance. Like,
- 1:05:20Speaker 1: the second the car stops, it's like slicing, it's like
- 1:05:23Speaker 1: blood pouring out, and then she, like, she, 40 whacks
- 1:05:28Speaker 1: on the mom there. She just went to town. What's
- 1:05:32Speaker 1: that chick's name?
- 1:05:33Speaker 6: Lauren Holly.
- 1:05:35Speaker 1: Lizzie Borden. She went to town like Lizzie Borden.
- 1:05:39Speaker 6: I don't know what Lauren Holly does. Or Lauren Holly.
- 1:05:43Speaker 1: Maybe she's been doing a little of that resting in
- 1:05:47Speaker 1: a special home. Special.
- 1:05:50Speaker 6: But then it's just sad because her whole motivation for
- 1:05:53Speaker 6: the whole thing it's for nothing.
- 1:05:56Speaker 1: That's, yeah, at this point I want to, I guess,
- 1:05:58Speaker 1: get into those bigger issues. I mean, we skipped over
- 1:06:01Speaker 1: the demonic yoga.
- 1:06:03Speaker 6: Yeah, well, after she killed the nurses or whatever, or
- 1:06:07Speaker 6: the teachers, you know, they put her, they got her
- 1:06:10Speaker 6: all restrained and shit, and they got her all in a,
- 1:06:13Speaker 6: I don't know if it's a hospital of some variety, apparently.
- 1:06:16Speaker 6: And that's when the preacher shows up. And they go on,
- 1:06:20Speaker 6: they do.
- 1:06:21Speaker 1: The whole full on... low key exorcism without really any fanciness.
- 1:06:28Speaker 1: It's just sort of a casting out the demon process
- 1:06:31Speaker 1: that they go through.
- 1:06:33Speaker 6: Which was, again, kind of sad because she's realizing that
- 1:06:35Speaker 6: the demon is all she has.
- 1:06:38Speaker 5: Yep.
- 1:06:38Speaker 6: And it's like when she says she sees, you don't
- 1:06:42Speaker 6: really get to see the demon. It's like you see
- 1:06:43Speaker 6: like a fuzzy kind of.
- 1:06:44Speaker 1: Kind of look like a llama. I thought it was
- 1:06:46Speaker 1: a demonic llama.
- 1:06:48Speaker 6: Could possibly be. But you see it. You never get
- 1:06:49Speaker 6: like a good clear vision. All you see is like
- 1:06:51Speaker 6: the shape, the shadow, this thing. And she's sitting there
- 1:06:55Speaker 6: and she realizes that, I mean, her parents are gone.
- 1:06:59Speaker 1: That's one. Yeah, we kind of and they left that
- 1:07:01Speaker 1: in that weird gray area. You're trying to like the
- 1:07:03Speaker 1: very beginning. There's all those little cut shots of dad
- 1:07:06Speaker 1: and what happened in the wrecked car. And you're just
- 1:07:08Speaker 1: so you really kind of go into that first half going, wait, what? OK.
- 1:07:13Speaker 1: And then you're like, OK, so she's making up the
- 1:07:15Speaker 1: story that her parents aren't coming. Is it because of
- 1:07:17Speaker 1: the car accident? Like you're trying to figure out what's
- 1:07:19Speaker 1: real exactly at that point.
- 1:07:21Speaker 13: And.
- 1:07:22Speaker 1: As it unfolds, you're like, no, the parents are dead.
- 1:07:25Speaker 1: She doesn't have anybody else.
- 1:07:26Speaker 6: And she's like, she doesn't really have any friends. She's
- 1:07:29Speaker 6: like pretty much the loner. And this demon that she
- 1:07:32Speaker 6: finally gets is all she has. And then she's sitting
- 1:07:36Speaker 6: there and he's been, you know, exercising. And she looks
- 1:07:38Speaker 6: at him and she's like, please don't leave me.
- 1:07:40Speaker 1: Don't go. Yeah. She specifically tells him don't go, which
- 1:07:45Speaker 1: is kind of sad at that point. And then becomes
- 1:07:49Speaker 1: more sad. So as we're getting into the bigger thing here,
- 1:07:52Speaker 1: as you realize by the end of it, you're like, okay,
- 1:07:55Speaker 1: Joan is Catherine. This is nine years later. This is
- 1:07:58Speaker 1: the semi grown up crazy head version of Catherine as
- 1:08:03Speaker 1: they sort of adult. And so like that, that becomes
- 1:08:08Speaker 1: my thing. Like she, she, I guess is trying to
- 1:08:13Speaker 1: bring the demon back. Yep, she's trying to reclaim.
- 1:08:15Speaker 6: Is.
- 1:08:16Speaker 1: This like this new.
- 1:08:17Speaker 6: She's her new offering.
- 1:08:18Speaker 1: Her new offering is now the trying to invite the
- 1:08:22Speaker 1: demon back into her life so that she's not alone anymore.
- 1:08:25Speaker 1: Because that's really kind of sad and disturbing.
- 1:08:28Speaker 6: She goes there with her sacrifice and you can tell
- 1:08:30Speaker 6: when she touches the thing and it's just... Cold. It's
- 1:08:33Speaker 6: cold and just her absolute breakdown at the end when
- 1:08:36Speaker 6: she realizes that all this shit she's done is for
- 1:08:39Speaker 6: nothing because she's not getting her demon back. And now
- 1:08:42Speaker 6: she's even in more shit.
- 1:08:43Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:08:43Speaker 1: See, then my question became, was she planning that specific
- 1:08:48Speaker 1: part of it from the beginning? Or did it become
- 1:08:52Speaker 1: a weird, just sort of an accident because they were
- 1:08:57Speaker 1: kind of going to the same place? Because I'm like...
- 1:09:00Speaker 1: was she planning on finding rose's parents and killing them
- 1:09:04Speaker 1: or were they both just going like she was heading
- 1:09:06Speaker 1: back there for her offering they were heading back there
- 1:09:08Speaker 1: to put flowers on the grave i.
- 1:09:10Speaker 6: Think it's more of a coincidence because how could she
- 1:09:11Speaker 6: have possibly known.
- 1:09:12Speaker 1: Because that's what i'm could have if it was a
- 1:09:15Speaker 1: super mastermind scheme that she really figured out who they
- 1:09:18Speaker 1: were and where they lived and how often they went there.
- 1:09:22Speaker 1: But the reason that made me think it wasn't planned
- 1:09:25Speaker 1: is she didn't have the knife. She picks up the
- 1:09:27Speaker 1: knife in the restaurant. So it wasn't like she had.
- 1:09:30Speaker 4: She's been in an institution for some time. She just
- 1:09:32Speaker 4: happened to make her escape.
- 1:09:34Speaker 6: And being in an institution for that long, did she
- 1:09:36Speaker 6: know that it was closed?
- 1:09:38Speaker 1: No.
- 1:09:39Speaker 6: Would she know that the school was closed? She could
- 1:09:41Speaker 6: have been on her way to the school... Thinking that
- 1:09:43Speaker 6: she could.
- 1:09:43Speaker 1: Just take out any random school girl. Yeah.
- 1:09:46Speaker 6: Or any random people that are already there.
- 1:09:47Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:09:48Speaker 6: Or that it's, or maybe that she wouldn't even have to,
- 1:09:52Speaker 6: you know, kill anybody, that the demon would still be there. Yeah.
- 1:09:55Speaker 6: And she just, I guess, wanted to, like, you know,
- 1:09:58Speaker 6: solidify her cred with the demon. And like, well, shit,
- 1:10:01Speaker 6: we're already here. And then she realized that, hey, we
- 1:10:05Speaker 6: gotta do this shit, you know?
- 1:10:07Speaker 1: So, my other bigger question is, certainly we get Little
- 1:10:13Speaker 1: glimpses of it. Most of which are through her point
- 1:10:16Speaker 1: of view. Is there a demon? Or is it all
- 1:10:22Speaker 1: just this sadness and grief that she manifests from when
- 1:10:26Speaker 1: her parents died? Because before that, we don't know that
- 1:10:29Speaker 1: there was ever any demon. Maybe she was normal. And
- 1:10:31Speaker 1: then from the point where the parents were gone, she
- 1:10:34Speaker 1: immediately starts killing people in the name of this quote
- 1:10:37Speaker 1: unquote demon. And then she gets institutionalized. I don't know.
- 1:10:43Speaker 1: Was she talking to anybody on the phone?
- 1:10:44Speaker 6: I don't know. It was ringing.
- 1:10:47Speaker 1: But if that's the case, if the parents are dead,
- 1:10:49Speaker 1: who was she talking to on the phone? I don't know.
- 1:10:52Speaker 6: See, that's what I'm saying. That's why I'm like, maybe
- 1:10:53Speaker 6: there was something. There was something there.
- 1:10:55Speaker 1: The demon calls people now?
- 1:10:57Speaker 6: Duh.
- 1:10:58Speaker 1: That's the most use I've seen out of a payphone
- 1:11:00Speaker 1: in a movie in a long time, by the way.
- 1:11:02Speaker 1: There's a lot of payphone action in this movie.
- 1:11:05Speaker 6: So yeah, I was like, what the fuck? Who uses
- 1:11:06Speaker 6: these payphones? What's going on here?
- 1:11:09Speaker 1: So yeah, that was my thing is like, It wasn't
- 1:11:12Speaker 1: necessarily like you could have told this story in just
- 1:11:16Speaker 1: a normal drama, like maybe even if they were killed,
- 1:11:19Speaker 1: like maybe just, you know, they're grieving because Rose died
- 1:11:23Speaker 1: or was in a car accident or something. So you
- 1:11:25Speaker 1: could have these parents, you could almost tell a like
- 1:11:28Speaker 1: slightly varied version of this story that just focuses on.
- 1:11:33Speaker 1: the grief and dealing with grief, the way a lot
- 1:11:34Speaker 1: of dramas.
- 1:11:35Speaker 6: Well, you're going to get some Sweet Hereafter shit, and
- 1:11:36Speaker 6: it's just going to be fucking depressing.
- 1:11:37Speaker 1: I love Sweet Hereafter.
- 1:11:38Speaker 6: The movie is the most depressing movie that's ever existed.
- 1:11:40Speaker 1: Oh, it's freaking depressing. That puts in perspective my taste.
- 1:11:44Speaker 1: I love that movie.
- 1:11:44Speaker 6: Oh, you're fucked up.
- 1:11:45Speaker 8: That's true.
- 1:11:46Speaker 1: But that's the thing. With this one, I think that's
- 1:11:49Speaker 1: true of Osgood as well. I'm like, he's using, I mean,
- 1:11:54Speaker 1: he didn't even have it listed as this Trojan horse.
- 1:11:57Speaker 1: He's like, I'm going to tell this story that's really
- 1:11:59Speaker 1: about dealing with grief, but I'm going to disguise it
- 1:12:03Speaker 1: as this really creepy horror movie. But by the end,
- 1:12:07Speaker 1: he's still just like, it's still just this girl dealing
- 1:12:10Speaker 1: with grief, maybe just from her parents. Maybe that's the only,
- 1:12:13Speaker 1: like everything else along the way is just like all
- 1:12:16Speaker 1: of this stuff. It's about, you know, dealing with grief
- 1:12:18Speaker 1: and being alone and like not knowing how to be alone,
- 1:12:22Speaker 1: which then like, again, going back, I was like, he
- 1:12:24Speaker 1: did write it. Right. Because then I'm like, how deep
- 1:12:28Speaker 1: are we going here that he's the writer? Because, Osgood
- 1:12:32Speaker 1: was 18 when Anthony died and Elvis was 16. So
- 1:12:37Speaker 1: you've got teenagers that are now abandoned by their parents.
- 1:12:42Speaker 1: And especially when you get to the little nine year thing.
- 1:12:45Speaker 1: Now this might be reaching, but I'm like, he wrote it.
- 1:12:47Speaker 1: He could have put any number of years. It could
- 1:12:49Speaker 1: have been eight, could have been 10. His mother, as
- 1:12:53Speaker 1: some people may or may not know. I mean, most
- 1:12:56Speaker 1: people know Anthony Perkins. Anthony Perkins died a horrible and
- 1:12:59Speaker 1: kind of, AIDS-related death, and he was suffering for a
- 1:13:03Speaker 1: good two years really badly. So it's like they kind
- 1:13:06Speaker 1: of watched their father die. That's bad enough. Their mother
- 1:13:10Speaker 1: is Barry Berenson. She was like an actor, performer, you know,
- 1:13:15Speaker 1: kind of not quite as famous as Anthony Perkins, but
- 1:13:18Speaker 1: not only was it a plane wreck, she was in
- 1:13:20Speaker 1: the first plane that hit the World Trade Center.
- 1:13:23Speaker 6: I remember hearing that she died, but I thought that
- 1:13:26Speaker 6: she had died before that.
- 1:13:26Speaker 1: She was on one of the planes that went into
- 1:13:29Speaker 1: the World Trade Center. So the, the day that that
- 1:13:33Speaker 1: happened was the day before the nine year anniversary of
- 1:13:37Speaker 1: Anthony's death. So once again, I'm like, could be a
- 1:13:41Speaker 1: random coincidence, but I'm like, he wrote it. That's a
- 1:13:44Speaker 1: very specific number to put in there. When you, when
- 1:13:47Speaker 1: you realize this is again, a secret way of dealing
- 1:13:51Speaker 1: with nothing but losing your parents and dealing with grief.
- 1:13:54Speaker 1: And I'm like, maybe this isn't quite as random a
- 1:13:56Speaker 1: horror movie as I thought when I started this. I
- 1:13:59Speaker 1: think that's what it became with this. Like, When it
- 1:14:01Speaker 1: first ended, I was just like, okay, so that's where
- 1:14:05Speaker 1: we're ending. I wasn't upset, really. I was just like, okay.
- 1:14:10Speaker 6: I guess I wanted to go a little bit further.
- 1:14:11Speaker 6: I don't know, figure out where'd she go from here?
- 1:14:13Speaker 6: Did she go back to the crazy house? Is she
- 1:14:15Speaker 6: trying to find another demon? Or is she just going
- 1:14:17Speaker 6: to stand there in the snow and cry?
- 1:14:19Speaker 1: Yeah, it's more sad leaving it like that. Like, if
- 1:14:21Speaker 1: we had some sort of epilogue of like, and then
- 1:14:24Speaker 1: they cart her off to an asylum and she gets help, like,
- 1:14:27Speaker 1: it would at least be more of a like, well,
- 1:14:28Speaker 1: she's getting help. That's better. Like, the way that it
- 1:14:32Speaker 1: ends is so heartbreaking of her just not only like
- 1:14:36Speaker 1: yes she's a horrible murderer but at the same time
- 1:14:38Speaker 1: you realize this this whole story arc has been this
- 1:14:41Speaker 1: one character and she's just miserable and alone so everyone
- 1:14:45Speaker 1: else she took out in the wake of this is
- 1:14:48Speaker 1: just her not knowing how to deal with all this
- 1:14:50Speaker 1: grief and i don't know i i by the time
- 1:14:53Speaker 1: i was done thinking about it like just write stuff
- 1:14:57Speaker 1: down for us to talk about i was like i
- 1:14:59Speaker 1: think i now really like this movie and i didn't
- 1:15:01Speaker 1: When it ended, when the credits rolled, I was just like, huh,
- 1:15:03Speaker 1: that's weird. So it's one of those that set in
- 1:15:07Speaker 1: more and more the more I thought about it. And
- 1:15:09Speaker 1: the more I was like, you really put a lot
- 1:15:11Speaker 1: of work in this that you don't maybe necessarily notice
- 1:15:14Speaker 1: the first time through. It is one of those, the
- 1:15:16Speaker 1: more you sit with it, the more you're like, oh, wait,
- 1:15:19Speaker 1: this is, there's a lot more going on than just
- 1:15:23Speaker 1: these awkward dialogue scenes, which again, I think are almost strategically,
- 1:15:27Speaker 1: I'm a weird person. 18-year-old kid that's dealing with grief
- 1:15:31Speaker 1: and doesn't know how to talk to people.
- 1:15:33Speaker 4: Could be the case.
- 1:15:34Speaker 6: I don't know. Like I said, I liked it, but just.
- 1:15:38Speaker 6: I didn't like the coldness of it, but I guess
- 1:15:39Speaker 6: that was part of it. I understand that that's part
- 1:15:41Speaker 6: of the whole thing.
- 1:15:42Speaker 1: I'll get you a blanket.
- 1:15:43Speaker 6: I have 48 blankets. Yeah, it is just sad because
- 1:15:47Speaker 6: you realize she's probably spent her entire last nine years
- 1:15:51Speaker 6: in that asylum planning for this exact moment.
- 1:15:55Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 1:15:55Speaker 6: And her only hope, the only thing getting her through
- 1:15:57Speaker 6: it is that she won't be alone anymore.
- 1:16:00Speaker 1: Well, and that's, yeah, that's the sad thing is, like,
- 1:16:02Speaker 1: this is the best option you can come up with. Like,
- 1:16:05Speaker 1: in her crazy mind, this is, like, the only time
- 1:16:07Speaker 1: I was, quote-unquote, happy. The only time I wasn't alone
- 1:16:10Speaker 1: is when the demon was with me. Like, I'm gonna
- 1:16:13Speaker 1: go back out and try to get that to happen
- 1:16:15Speaker 1: again by killing people. Like, that's the best option. She
- 1:16:18Speaker 1: could come up with, not like, I'm going to break
- 1:16:20Speaker 1: free and run and join the circus.
- 1:16:21Speaker 6: And I'm just like, could you just throw some kindling
- 1:16:23Speaker 6: in the furnace?
- 1:16:25Speaker 1: Just light it up.
- 1:16:26Speaker 4: Light it up.
- 1:16:27Speaker 6: Oh, my God.
- 1:16:29Speaker 1: Kerosene, you're all good.
- 1:16:30Speaker 4: Just restart the fire.
- 1:16:31Speaker 6: Exactly right.
- 1:16:36Speaker 1: The other little geek tip of the hat is the
- 1:16:41Speaker 1: town they're going to, Brantford, the apartment that they moved
- 1:16:45Speaker 1: to in Rosemary's Baby is the Brantford.
- 1:16:49Speaker 6: Never seen Rosemary's Baby I don't want to watch.
- 1:16:51Speaker 1: It it's again if you thought this was slow that's
- 1:16:54Speaker 1: I was it's funny I was just like the day
- 1:16:56Speaker 1: before I watched this I was just talking about Rosemary's
- 1:16:58Speaker 1: Baby with somebody else and I was just like I
- 1:17:01Speaker 1: feel like I need to rewatch it because I know
- 1:17:03Speaker 1: like super well respected and you know people don't like
- 1:17:07Speaker 1: that director but he did great work along the way
- 1:17:10Speaker 1: so it's like i feel like i want to respect it.
- 1:17:12Speaker 6: And i i tried to give him a chance i
- 1:17:14Speaker 6: watched one of his movies and i fucking hated it
- 1:17:15Speaker 6: so i'm done with them that's what i'm saying it's
- 1:17:17Speaker 6: huh who i watched a polanski movie which one what's
- 1:17:21Speaker 6: his other famous horror movie not rosemary's baby no no.
- 1:17:26Speaker 1: What's the one about the chick in the apartment that's
- 1:17:28Speaker 1: the one i watched yeah.
- 1:17:31Speaker 6: When you think of it, that's what I watched, and
- 1:17:33Speaker 6: I fucking hated it.
- 1:17:35Speaker 4: Was The Ninth Gate a Polanski film?
- 1:17:37Speaker 1: I think it was. It was one of those later ones.
- 1:17:40Speaker 6: I think I watched it, but I don't remember it
- 1:17:42Speaker 6: that well.
- 1:17:43Speaker 4: I actually like Ninth Gate.
- 1:17:44Speaker 1: I recently went back and re-watched Frantic. Frantic's pretty good. Again,
- 1:17:49Speaker 1: it's such a Hitchcock wannabe kind of thing, but again,
- 1:17:54Speaker 1: I love the Hitchcock movies and then the Hitchcock knockoff
- 1:17:56Speaker 1: kind of movies. It definitely feels like it's him sort
- 1:18:00Speaker 1: of making his own little international wrong man kind of
- 1:18:05Speaker 1: a hitchcock movie and it's pretty entertaining but again i
- 1:18:08Speaker 1: i still like i have to i have to take
- 1:18:12Speaker 1: it with me like yes i like this part i
- 1:18:15Speaker 1: don't like a lot of what's going on in your
- 1:18:17Speaker 1: life but you know see i can.
- 1:18:18Speaker 6: Even separate that sometimes because i as stupid as they
- 1:18:21Speaker 6: are i don't hate the deeper.
- 1:18:22Speaker 1: Deeper scraper movies again so much of that i I
- 1:18:26Speaker 1: don't know. I've tried to avoid what's going on.
- 1:18:28Speaker 6: I try to avoid what goes on in people's personal lives.
- 1:18:31Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:18:32Speaker 6: Usually if I don't like them for some reason, it's
- 1:18:34Speaker 6: because I've watched something else that I've really missed.
- 1:18:38Speaker 1: I mean, again, from a geek standpoint, that's the way
- 1:18:40Speaker 1: to do it.
- 1:18:40Speaker 6: The Tenet.
- 1:18:40Speaker 1: There we go.
- 1:18:41Speaker 6: The Tenet.
- 1:18:41Speaker 1: Pulled it out of my head. The Tenet.
- 1:18:43Speaker 6: I fucking hated that movie.
- 1:18:44Speaker 1: Again, that's one of those that's very well respected. I
- 1:18:46Speaker 1: don't know. I watched Rosemary's Baby when I was... pretty young.
- 1:18:51Speaker 1: And like, again, it's like one of those by the
- 1:18:54Speaker 1: end of it, I'm like, all right, there's some cool scenes.
- 1:18:56Speaker 1: I kind of see there's shots that I respect.
- 1:18:59Speaker 4: I just get pissed by the end and want to
- 1:19:01Speaker 4: kill everybody.
- 1:19:01Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:19:02Speaker 6: That's you with most movies.
- 1:19:03Speaker 1: I know.
- 1:19:04Speaker 3: It's kind of true.
- 1:19:04Speaker 1: I know.
- 1:19:05Speaker 4: Because I'm looking at movies, I look from my perspective.
- 1:19:08Speaker 4: I'm like, all right, I could kill that guy, that guy,
- 1:19:10Speaker 4: that guy, that guy, that guy.
- 1:19:11Speaker 11: You know.
- 1:19:13Speaker 1: But, yeah, I mean, by the end of it, I'm like,
- 1:19:16Speaker 1: I like some of the scenes when it ends up,
- 1:19:18Speaker 1: but there's so much drag in the beginning of, like,
- 1:19:22Speaker 1: I know, once again, he's setting up atmosphere, he's setting
- 1:19:25Speaker 1: up characters.
- 1:19:26Speaker 6: But sometimes it just kills it for me.
- 1:19:27Speaker 1: I know. Like, sometimes it just drags its feet too much.
- 1:19:30Speaker 6: I can understand wanting to do the whole slow burn shit.
- 1:19:34Speaker 6: What's another movie that I hated recently that had a
- 1:19:36Speaker 6: slow burn? The House of the Devil?
- 1:19:40Speaker 1: Yeah, House of the Devil you didn't like.
- 1:19:41Speaker 6: Fucking hated it.
- 1:19:43Speaker 1: Again, that was a very 80s version of this type
- 1:19:46Speaker 1: of story.
- 1:19:47Speaker 6: I love 80s horror movies, but it was a slow burn,
- 1:19:50Speaker 6: but it was too slow for me, and it wasn't
- 1:19:52Speaker 6: enough payoff.
- 1:19:53Speaker 1: I mean, again, you don't even have the body count
- 1:19:56Speaker 1: in this movie, so I give you it's a slow
- 1:19:59Speaker 1: burn and not a ton of people getting killed, so...
- 1:20:02Speaker 1: if that's what you're looking for in horror, that's probably
- 1:20:04Speaker 1: not your movie. But again, I thought it was well-made.
- 1:20:07Speaker 1: I like what they were going for. It is a
- 1:20:09Speaker 1: slow burn though. You gotta, you gotta be ready for
- 1:20:11Speaker 1: that going in. I don't know. I think this one,
- 1:20:14Speaker 1: because it seems so planned out and complicated and, and
- 1:20:18Speaker 1: well thought out. And I don't know, I, by the
- 1:20:20Speaker 1: end of it, I ended up respecting it a lot more.
- 1:20:24Speaker 1: And even within the moment, I'm like, this is creepy
- 1:20:26Speaker 1: as hell. Like the, the atmosphere that he builds is
- 1:20:29Speaker 1: like legit. Like, It's pretty creepy all the way through,
- 1:20:32Speaker 1: even when you don't understand what it is you're being
- 1:20:35Speaker 1: creeped out by. Which, that's still another little side thing,
- 1:20:40Speaker 1: since we brought up the thing with the dad in
- 1:20:43Speaker 1: the hotel room. Did you get a weird vibe from
- 1:20:45Speaker 1: the priest? Yes.
- 1:20:47Speaker 6: A little bit, yeah.
- 1:20:48Speaker 1: Especially when he came in at the end and he
- 1:20:50Speaker 1: started talking to her. But then I was also flashing
- 1:20:53Speaker 1: back on the beginning, her little take on their.
- 1:20:57Speaker 1: Was so annoyed and upset that he wasn't going to
- 1:21:01Speaker 1: be there for her performance. I'm like, almost like someone
- 1:21:04Speaker 1: in a relationship? Yeah. Or a one-sided relationship?
- 1:21:07Speaker 4: I almost thought that she was pregnant from the priest
- 1:21:10Speaker 4: at first.
- 1:21:11Speaker 1: Wrong girl. Except, yeah, she was. But I thought maybe
- 1:21:13Speaker 1: that was going to be a weird connection. I thought maybe.
- 1:21:15Speaker 4: Yeah, I thought it was going to be connected. Like
- 1:21:17Speaker 4: they were both... Pregnant by the priest.
- 1:21:19Speaker 1: Before she, well, no, I was like, before she offed Rose,
- 1:21:21Speaker 1: I thought that was going to be maybe her speech
- 1:21:23Speaker 1: of why they were so similar and let, you know,
- 1:21:26Speaker 1: come with me on a murder spree or whatever her
- 1:21:28Speaker 1: crazy head plan was. But like, I thought maybe that
- 1:21:31Speaker 1: was going to be a weird tie in for the
- 1:21:33Speaker 1: two of them was that, oh, you're, you're pregnant. Hey,
- 1:21:35Speaker 1: I'm pregnant too. Oh, by the way, it's the priest.
- 1:21:38Speaker 1: So like, that was the thing that, that he was
- 1:21:41Speaker 1: being so weird to her and she was being so disconnected.
- 1:21:44Speaker 1: And I'm like, maybe cause she's pissed off at him.
- 1:21:47Speaker 1: And then it was like she was so bitter about
- 1:21:49Speaker 1: him not coming to her show. I'm like, that's almost
- 1:21:51Speaker 1: like a one-sided, like, I think we're in a relationship,
- 1:21:53Speaker 1: and you don't think we're in a relationship. Like, again,
- 1:21:56Speaker 1: that's a teenage thing.
- 1:21:58Speaker 6: How long are you going to be gone? Where are
- 1:21:59Speaker 6: you going?
- 1:22:00Speaker 1: Yeah. She was very pissy about it all in a
- 1:22:03Speaker 1: way that didn't seem like a kid and a priest
- 1:22:06Speaker 1: at a school, you know? Like, that just seemed really.
- 1:22:09Speaker 4: Seemed like a crazy, psychotic girlfriend.
- 1:22:11Speaker 6: Yeah. Like.
- 1:22:13Speaker 4: Really want to know where are.
- 1:22:14Speaker 1: You going kind of yeah what do you mean you're
- 1:22:16Speaker 1: not going to be there for me where do you
- 1:22:18Speaker 1: think you're going and like yeah so that the tone
- 1:22:21Speaker 1: like even.
- 1:22:21Speaker 6: Still because it could have been at that point even
- 1:22:23Speaker 6: he was all she had because her you know her
- 1:22:24Speaker 6: parents drop her off here like i said she obviously
- 1:22:27Speaker 6: doesn't have any friends you know maybe not really taking
- 1:22:30Speaker 6: over the parental role even just he she's latched on
- 1:22:34Speaker 6: to him because she doesn't really have.
- 1:22:36Speaker 1: Anything else somebody he was there to help her kind
- 1:22:38Speaker 1: of a thing i mean she has a freshman freshman Yeah, exactly.
- 1:22:42Speaker 1: Why would the other kids want to interact with her?
- 1:22:44Speaker 11: No doubt.
- 1:22:47Speaker 6: I'm a lifetime of freshmen.
- 1:22:49Speaker 1: I don't care. So, I don't know. I think points
- 1:22:55Speaker 1: to Oz for putting together a pretty creepy movie. It
- 1:22:58Speaker 1: seems to be his thing. I don't know that you've
- 1:23:01Speaker 1: watched the other one. I kind of want to put
- 1:23:02Speaker 1: it on the list now. Do you know the other...
- 1:23:04Speaker 1: This was technically, I think it came out afterwards because
- 1:23:08Speaker 1: as you were saying, the February story It got caught
- 1:23:11Speaker 1: up in trying to promote it, and it got out
- 1:23:14Speaker 1: to a couple of film fests, but trying to find
- 1:23:16Speaker 1: the right... Yeah, it's been waiting for like two years
- 1:23:17Speaker 1: to actually make it out. Yeah, trying to find the
- 1:23:18Speaker 1: right person to distribute it took forever, so I think
- 1:23:21Speaker 1: the other thing may have actually hit first, but he
- 1:23:23Speaker 1: shot this first, so this is technically his first feature,
- 1:23:26Speaker 1: but the other thing he made was, again, back to
- 1:23:29Speaker 1: a direct-to-Netflix project, it's called... I am the pretty thing
- 1:23:34Speaker 1: that lives in the house.
- 1:23:35Speaker 6: I've heard of that, but I haven't watched it yet.
- 1:23:36Speaker 1: Creepy already, just by the title. Okay, so I watched
- 1:23:39Speaker 1: the trailer, though. The trailer opens with this line. I
- 1:23:43Speaker 1: have heard myself say, the house that holds the memory
- 1:23:45Speaker 1: of a death is the staying place of a rotted ghost.
- 1:23:49Speaker 1: I'm like, dude, you have a thing. Like, you are
- 1:23:52Speaker 1: not a cheery guy, are you? So, once again, I'm like, well,
- 1:23:56Speaker 1: that seems.
- 1:23:57Speaker 6: Is he doing taxidermy?
- 1:23:59Speaker 1: Might be. Again, you grow up with, you know... Norman
- 1:24:03Speaker 1: Bates is your dad. You're going to be a little creepy.
- 1:24:05Speaker 1: So yeah, maybe, maybe Elvis seems a little more normal possibly. So,
- 1:24:11Speaker 1: but I was, I was good. Might just be a
- 1:24:13Speaker 1: weird dude.
- 1:24:14Speaker 6: But again, are either of them as attractive as their
- 1:24:16Speaker 6: dad was? Cause Anthony Perkins was kind of cute.
- 1:24:18Speaker 1: He is a handsome dude back in the day.
- 1:24:20Speaker 6: Well, let's see.
- 1:24:20Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 1:24:21Speaker 6: Do either of them look like him at all? I
- 1:24:23Speaker 6: don't think.
- 1:24:23Speaker 1: I saw a picture of, I was good. He wasn't,
- 1:24:27Speaker 1: he was an actor when he was younger. He, that's
- 1:24:28Speaker 1: where he started was doing pretty minor roles. Everything I
- 1:24:31Speaker 1: looked at was, Mostly a lot of minor roles, and
- 1:24:34Speaker 1: then he's just recently moved into directing, so I don't know.
- 1:24:37Speaker 1: I mean, Elvis is a rock star. He's got to
- 1:24:39Speaker 1: be pretty, right?
- 1:24:40Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 1:24:40Speaker 1: I would think so.
- 1:24:41Speaker 6: So I'm kind of worried.
- 1:24:42Speaker 1: But anyway, yeah, that sound just creepy enough. I'm like, well,
- 1:24:45Speaker 1: I guess we're putting that on the list, too. So
- 1:24:47Speaker 1: I think it's streaming now, so I might have to
- 1:24:50Speaker 1: go add that on there. We can return to that
- 1:24:53Speaker 1: somewhere in the future. Anything else on this movie?
- 1:24:57Speaker 6: I'm still curious as to whether the teachers actually had
- 1:24:59Speaker 6: hair on their bodies.
- 1:25:00Speaker 4: What?
- 1:25:02Speaker 1: Oh, yeah. She's messing with freshmen.
- 1:25:05Speaker 6: You don't remember? Yeah, I remember.
- 1:25:08Speaker 1: Okay. I will say, that was a pretty deserted road
- 1:25:15Speaker 1: that the mom and dad were on. She had a
- 1:25:18Speaker 1: lot of time to off them, drag them out of
- 1:25:21Speaker 1: the car.
- 1:25:21Speaker 6: If it's like an off street going just to the school,
- 1:25:25Speaker 6: if the school's closed.
- 1:25:26Speaker 1: Because at some point, if somebody's driving by going, hey, look,
- 1:25:29Speaker 1: a girl decapitating two people.
- 1:25:31Speaker 4: Well, that and if it's in the wintertime, there may be,
- 1:25:35Speaker 4: you know, like you said, if the school's on an
- 1:25:37Speaker 4: off-road and it's been closed.
- 1:25:40Speaker 1: Yeah, and it's late at night.
- 1:25:41Speaker 4: Yeah, there's no reason for anybody to go down that road.
- 1:25:44Speaker 1: I just thought it was funny. I'm like, man, if
- 1:25:46Speaker 1: I was trying to kill people, there's no way I
- 1:25:48Speaker 1: would get this much downtime on the road. Ten seconds later,
- 1:25:51Speaker 1: I might be cruising by going, hey, you need some
- 1:25:53Speaker 1: help with those heads?
- 1:25:54Speaker 4: Yeah, exactly.
- 1:25:55Speaker 1: Hey, what you got going on there? Yes, I do.
- 1:25:57Speaker 1: Can you get one of them? Bring it over here
- 1:25:59Speaker 1: to this furnace for me, thanks.
- 1:26:01Speaker 6: Or people complain about there being different actresses playing Crather
- 1:26:04Speaker 6: and I'm like, if they were the same actors, it'd
- 1:26:06Speaker 6: be so fucking obvious.
- 1:26:07Speaker 1: It is one of those.
- 1:26:08Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:26:08Speaker 1: I was thinking that again, way after the fact, like
- 1:26:11Speaker 1: two hours later, I'm still thinking about this movie, which
- 1:26:14Speaker 1: again is kind of a good sign, but I'm like, again,
- 1:26:17Speaker 1: how much of movies, if not horror, but specifically these
- 1:26:22Speaker 1: types of movies that are built almost entirely on the
- 1:26:27Speaker 1: dynamics of it. The way that, again, the way that
- 1:26:29Speaker 1: the writer sets it up from the get-go. Because, once again,
- 1:26:33Speaker 1: much like the drama angle, if you just change it,
- 1:26:35Speaker 1: it's a totally different movie genre-wise. But if you just
- 1:26:39Speaker 1: change that one thing of like, and I'm going to
- 1:26:41Speaker 1: have the same actress play her both times, there's almost
- 1:26:45Speaker 1: no story to it. It doesn't have anything else. There's
- 1:26:49Speaker 1: no twist. I mean, it is a twist, but it's
- 1:26:51Speaker 1: really not even a twist. It's just a dynamic of
- 1:26:54Speaker 1: telling the story, and it doesn't really... have as much
- 1:26:58Speaker 1: of a story to tell when from the beginning you
- 1:27:01Speaker 1: know exactly what's going on. If you understand and like, oh,
- 1:27:03Speaker 1: and there she is later, because obviously this is going
- 1:27:06Speaker 1: to be later, and you're piecing it together so easily
- 1:27:09Speaker 1: that it kind of takes out half of the work involved. Like,
- 1:27:13Speaker 1: to me, that you figuring it out is half of
- 1:27:16Speaker 1: what makes that movie awesome. So when you take that out.
- 1:27:19Speaker 4: So how many years did it go by?
- 1:27:20Speaker 6: Nine.
- 1:27:20Speaker 1: Nine?
- 1:27:20Speaker 4: So, I mean, people are going to change in nine years, especially.
- 1:27:25Speaker 4: You know, from her being a kid, she's going to
- 1:27:27Speaker 4: go through puberty and being stuck in an institution.
- 1:27:30Speaker 6: So you're telling me if they put me in an
- 1:27:33Speaker 6: institution for nine years, I could come out being Emma Roberts?
- 1:27:36Speaker 4: Is that what you're telling me? If you were only
- 1:27:37Speaker 4: put in when you were 15. Oh, son of a bitch.
- 1:27:41Speaker 1: You missed your window.
- 1:27:42Speaker 6: If I go in now, who am I going to
- 1:27:44Speaker 6: come out being?
- 1:27:44Speaker 1: Ruth Buzzy.
- 1:27:45Speaker 4: You're going to come out being....
- 1:27:48Speaker 1: Google that one, kids.
- 1:27:49Speaker 3: What's her name?
- 1:27:51Speaker 4: Lauren Hawley.
- 1:27:53Speaker 1: And then people will be like, didn't you used to
- 1:27:56Speaker 1: be in things? And she's like, shut up. I still act.
- 1:28:00Speaker 6: Maybe it secretly was me and you just don't know it.
- 1:28:02Speaker 1: She was wearing a hat. It might have been you.
- 1:28:04Speaker 6: I do wear hats.
- 1:28:05Speaker 9: Yeah, could have been.
- 1:28:07Speaker 6: I don't wear hats. I only wear a hat when
- 1:28:09Speaker 6: I go to the fair.
- 1:28:10Speaker 1: I saw you in a hat.
- 1:28:12Speaker 6: At the fair.
- 1:28:12Speaker 1: Because I was standing next to you next to that
- 1:28:14Speaker 1: giant corn dog at the fair.
- 1:28:15Speaker 2: Exactly.
- 1:28:16Speaker 6: Annual corn dog picture. Can't go wrong with that.
- 1:28:20Speaker 1: All right.
- 1:28:21Speaker 6: I would recommend this movie, but only if you got
- 1:28:23Speaker 6: a little bit of patience.
- 1:28:24Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 1:28:25Speaker 1: Again, it amazes me how much my attitude about it
- 1:28:29Speaker 1: changed from the second the credits came up to an
- 1:28:34Speaker 1: hour later to two hours later. Like it's one of
- 1:28:36Speaker 1: those that two days later. Yeah. Again, I kind of
- 1:28:39Speaker 1: wonder like, how much more i'm going to respect this
- 1:28:41Speaker 1: as it gels even further because initially i was just
- 1:28:45Speaker 1: wait what.
- 1:28:45Speaker 6: What i would recommend watching it in winter though but
- 1:28:49Speaker 6: the window is open much like when i watch twin
- 1:28:51Speaker 6: peaks i only want to watch twin peaks when it's
- 1:28:52Speaker 6: cold outside i would recommend that you watch this when you're.
- 1:28:55Speaker 1: Eating pie Drinking. Downing damn fine coffee.
- 1:28:58Speaker 6: I don't even like coffee.
- 1:28:59Speaker 1: But you want to at that moment, don't you?
- 1:29:01Speaker 6: I like hot chocolate.
- 1:29:01Speaker 1: I think Cooper would let that slide.
- 1:29:05Speaker 6: But still, it's like some things you only want to
- 1:29:06Speaker 6: watch during certain times of the year. Maybe that's just me, apparently.
- 1:29:11Speaker 1: Just February.
- 1:29:12Speaker 6: Anytime when it's cold outside.
- 1:29:14Speaker 1: Okay. That's probably why he changed the name. He's like,
- 1:29:16Speaker 1: I don't want people not watching this the other 11 months.
- 1:29:18Speaker 6: What the fuck's the black coat?
- 1:29:19Speaker 1: Yeah, I was like, I guess it sounds like more
- 1:29:23Speaker 1: of a creepy horror movie title.
- 1:29:24Speaker 6: I think there was an actual reason. Look up black coat.
- 1:29:27Speaker 6: I think it has something to do with demons and
- 1:29:28Speaker 6: devils and stuff like that. I totally could be making
- 1:29:31Speaker 6: that up, but you might want to Google it.
- 1:29:32Speaker 4: I thought it was going to be a movie about.
- 1:29:35Speaker 6: Somebody wearing a black coat? And their daughter.
- 1:29:37Speaker 4: Yeah, well, I was thinking like maybe a ship captain
- 1:29:40Speaker 4: and his daughter. Maybe he wore a black coat. He
- 1:29:43Speaker 4: sounds like a pirate name, doesn't he? The Black Coat.
- 1:29:46Speaker 6: I'm serious. Google a black coat. I'm pretty sure there's
- 1:29:49Speaker 6: an actual thing the black coat had to do with
- 1:29:52Speaker 6: the devil.
- 1:29:53Speaker 4: Black coat did battle with Blackbeard and Captain Morgan.
- 1:29:57Speaker 1: That's a what? Demonic llama.
- 1:30:01Speaker 4: That's what it kind of looked like.
- 1:30:03Speaker 1: It's a little fuzzy, but llamas are kind of fuzzy.
- 1:30:05Speaker 6: Maybe it could have been an alpaca. I like alpacas.
- 1:30:09Speaker 6: Black coat. One word. They're just going to show you
- 1:30:13Speaker 6: a bunch of black coats probably from Kohl's.
- 1:30:16Speaker 1: Ooh, can I order one? It's gonna get chilly outside.
- 1:30:20Speaker 6: Which is the best time to watch the movie.
- 1:30:23Speaker 1: Okay, black coat definition by Miriam Webster.
- 1:30:28Speaker 7: Hmm.
- 1:30:29Speaker 1: What? According to Miriam Webster, definition of black coat, number one,
- 1:30:36Speaker 1: unusually disparaging, colon clergyman. Once again, we're putting a little
- 1:30:42Speaker 1: more on that priest. I say he's up to no good.
- 1:30:46Speaker 1: Number two, British, a member of the black-coated class.
- 1:30:51Speaker 6: Maybe I made that up then. Whatever. Maybe I saw
- 1:30:58Speaker 6: it in the Wikipedia for the movie.
- 1:31:02Speaker 1: Let's look at that.
- 1:31:03Speaker 6: They're talking about why the name of the movie was changed.
- 1:31:06Speaker 1: Nobody wants to see February.
- 1:31:10Speaker 6: Call it February, they're going to expect a Valentine's Day
- 1:31:12Speaker 6: movie or something.
- 1:31:13Speaker 1: This is so nice. But romantic.
- 1:31:15Speaker 6: No, you're going to get just the people that are wanting, like,
- 1:31:18Speaker 6: By Bloody Valentine or some shit, which I fucking love
- 1:31:21Speaker 6: that movie. Both variations. Don't even care.
- 1:31:23Speaker 1: Just thought that was retitled there.
- 1:31:27Speaker 9: Never mind.
- 1:31:29Speaker 6: Never mind my nonsense.
- 1:31:31Speaker 1: Free dictionary. Hold on. Let's see what free dictionary says.
- 1:31:34Speaker 1: Black coat. A clergyman, familiarly so-called, as a soldier is
- 1:31:39Speaker 1: sometimes called a red coat or a blue coat. Again,
- 1:31:43Speaker 1: I'm blaming the priest.
- 1:31:44Speaker 6: Well, let's do the books. We'll blame it on the priest.
- 1:31:46Speaker 6: All right.
- 1:31:46Speaker 1: That's a pretty safe bet, in my mind.
- 1:31:48Speaker 6: That's for me.
- 1:31:51Speaker 1: Always up to no good.
- 1:31:52Speaker 6: With our coats being all black and shit.
- 1:31:55Speaker 1: I'm telling you. All right. So, with that, we definitely
- 1:31:59Speaker 1: want to send out a big thank you to Days
- 1:32:01Speaker 1: of the Dead.
- 1:32:02Speaker 6: Hells yeah, we do.
- 1:32:02Speaker 1: Let's come hang out in the middle of all this craziness.
- 1:32:05Speaker 10: Thank you.
- 1:32:06Speaker 1: So... They've actually, I mean, in general, I was going
- 1:32:10Speaker 1: to tell you, go to their website so you can
- 1:32:12Speaker 1: come to this specific event next year, which is daysofthedead.com.
- 1:32:16Speaker 1: But then as I looked, I mean, we knew they've been,
- 1:32:18Speaker 1: I mean, they started.
- 1:32:19Speaker 6: I thought it was.
- 1:32:20Speaker 13: Net.
- 1:32:20Speaker 1: It's not.
- 1:32:20Speaker 9: Net?
- 1:32:21Speaker 1: I think they have both now.
- 1:32:22Speaker 6: Oh, okay.
- 1:32:22Speaker 1: Because I think if you go back to the main one,
- 1:32:24Speaker 1: it kicks you back to.
- 1:32:24Speaker 6: Net.
- 1:32:25Speaker 1: So, yeah, go to either. Because I think, yeah, I
- 1:32:27Speaker 1: think it was, for our specific one, it was daysofthedead.net
- 1:32:30Speaker 1: slash Louisville. But then when you go to their main site,
- 1:32:33Speaker 1: I think now it's daysofthedead.com.
- 1:32:35Speaker 4: So.
- 1:32:35Speaker 6: Because they do have a plethora of shows, depending on
- 1:32:37Speaker 6: where you live in this country.
- 1:32:39Speaker 1: That's the thing. They started in Indy, but now when
- 1:32:41Speaker 1: I looked at the list today, I was like, we
- 1:32:43Speaker 1: just wrapped up this one here. Next up is Chicago.
- 1:32:48Speaker 1: Beginning of next year, there's one in Atlanta, there's one
- 1:32:50Speaker 1: in Charlotte, and then they're back to Indianapolis.
- 1:32:53Speaker 6: Are they coming back to Louisville next year?
- 1:32:55Speaker 1: I'm sure they are.
- 1:32:56Speaker 6: Because we were pretty awesome.
- 1:32:57Speaker 1: Because we're pretty awesome. Just us right here talking about movies,
- 1:33:01Speaker 1: talking about their awesome show. So, yeah, any part of
- 1:33:05Speaker 1: this general area in the country, and if you're a
- 1:33:08Speaker 1: little further on either coast, just start driving. You can
- 1:33:10Speaker 1: get to any of those cities. Any of them. Start
- 1:33:13Speaker 1: right now.
- 1:33:13Speaker 6: It might be early.
- 1:33:16Speaker 1: You got till November.
- 1:33:17Speaker 6: Just don't decapitate anybody and try to summon demons on
- 1:33:19Speaker 6: your way, because they'll probably not go over well.
- 1:33:21Speaker 1: Also, when you stop off at a roadside motel... Don't
- 1:33:25Speaker 1: answer the door in a towel. Yeah, somebody knocks on
- 1:33:27Speaker 1: your door and you're wearing a towel... You might be like,
- 1:33:30Speaker 1: hang on a minute.
- 1:33:31Speaker 6: Let me put on some pants.
- 1:33:32Speaker 1: Weird dude, hang on.
- 1:33:34Speaker 6: Why are you doing this?
- 1:33:37Speaker 1: Doing what?
- 1:33:39Speaker 6: Helping me so much.
- 1:33:45Speaker 2: Do you believe in God, Joan?
- 1:33:50Speaker 9: No.
- 1:33:52Speaker 12: No.
- 1:33:53Speaker 2: Just like that?
- 1:33:59Speaker 1: No.
- 1:34:01Speaker 2: Ever tried to look for him? It's strange. People think
- 1:34:10Speaker 2: you'll look for him in some book, or in a church,
- 1:34:14Speaker 2: or a statue, maybe even a candle flame. But that's
- 1:34:23Speaker 2: not how it works for me. I look for him
- 1:34:27Speaker 2: in the unlikely things that happen. Little coincidences. And when
- 1:34:35Speaker 2: I saw you sitting at that bus station, you reminded
- 1:34:41Speaker 2: me so much of someone. Someone I haven't seen in
- 1:34:48Speaker 2: a long time. And then, when you said you were
- 1:34:52Speaker 2: going to Portsmouth, I just can't ignore it. So strange
- 1:35:03Speaker 2: as it may sound, I guess I saw.
- 1:35:07Speaker 3: God in you.
- 1:35:16Speaker 1: Are you going to Portsmouth too?
- 1:35:18Speaker 2: No, not exactly. Linda and I are headed to the
- 1:35:22Speaker 2: town just before it. We're going to Brantford. Do you
- 1:35:31Speaker 2: know Brimford?
- 1:35:45Speaker 1: When do we leave?
- 1:35:47Speaker 2: What's that?
- 1:35:49Speaker 6: When do we leave? It was really weird. Her or him, because.
- 1:35:54Speaker 1: Both.
- 1:35:55Speaker 6: Yeah, he was kind of.
- 1:35:56Speaker 1: It was kind of inappropriate either way. Like, if I were...
- 1:36:00Speaker 1: a dude in general, let alone somebody's dad. I mean,
- 1:36:03Speaker 1: he was still a dad. He should know better than,
- 1:36:05Speaker 1: if someone came into your daughter's hotel room when she
- 1:36:08Speaker 1: was wearing a towel, wouldn't you be kind of annoyed
- 1:36:10Speaker 1: at that dude? So I'm like, as a dad, he
- 1:36:12Speaker 1: kind of should have known better than that.
- 1:36:13Speaker 4: That's kind of one of those things where you almost
- 1:36:14Speaker 4: put yourself in a situation.
- 1:36:16Speaker 6: That's why I was just, I was waiting for it
- 1:36:18Speaker 6: to happen.
- 1:36:19Speaker 4: Yeah, I was kind of like, this is a bad
- 1:36:21Speaker 4: situation to put yourself into.
- 1:36:22Speaker 6: But they do, not that they use that scene to
- 1:36:24Speaker 6: show off, kind of give you foreshadowing, because you see
- 1:36:26Speaker 6: the bullet wound.
- 1:36:27Speaker 1: Yeah, that is their little, again, there were very few
- 1:36:30Speaker 1: little tie-ins to the whole thing. So, yeah.
- 1:36:34Speaker 4: I'm thinking it may be one of those things where
- 1:36:37Speaker 4: you're like, oh, we don't know what's going to happen now.
- 1:36:39Speaker 4: And then they're like, oh, that didn't happen. You're like, wow.
- 1:36:42Speaker 6: Because I was waiting for it. I'm like, oh, this
- 1:36:44Speaker 6: is going to be so awkward because she's kind of awkward.
- 1:36:46Speaker 6: And you can tell she's a little bit skittish and scared.
- 1:36:49Speaker 6: And it's just going to make it even more weird.
- 1:36:50Speaker 4: It's going to be, yeah, it's going to be like
- 1:36:53Speaker 4: him taking advantage of her.
- 1:36:54Speaker 6: And then you're like, is he a good guy? Did
- 1:36:58Speaker 6: he pick her up? Is he legit trying to help her?
- 1:37:02Speaker 6: Or is he trying to save her so he can
- 1:37:04Speaker 6: kill her later?
- 1:37:04Speaker 4: Or did he have a weird relationship with his daughter?
- 1:37:08Speaker 4: So many weird things.
- 1:37:10Speaker 1: Maybe she beat him to the punch. Maybe they were
- 1:37:12Speaker 1: going to kill him, but instead she beat him to it.
- 1:37:15Speaker 6: I still wonder. Maybe I need to go back and
- 1:37:17Speaker 6: re-watch it again.
- 1:37:19Speaker 1: It's worth it. I think this one has that kind
- 1:37:22Speaker 1: of level to it that you can definitely invest a
- 1:37:26Speaker 1: little more time and definitely a little more thought to
- 1:37:28Speaker 1: it because there's more than is on the surface with
- 1:37:31Speaker 1: this movie. The end. So, once again, thank you to
- 1:37:35Speaker 1: Days of Dead for letting us, giving us an excuse
- 1:37:37Speaker 1: to hang out and talk about this movie.
- 1:37:39Speaker 6: It'd be even more awesome if they could bring Emma Roberts.
- 1:37:42Speaker 1: That, I'll second that. If you want to put somebody
- 1:37:45Speaker 1: on the list for future shows of one of those many,
- 1:37:48Speaker 1: Emma Roberts.
- 1:37:49Speaker 6: That goes out to any convention in our tri-state area.
- 1:37:52Speaker 6: I would, Emma Roberts.
- 1:37:55Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 1:37:56Speaker 1: I mean, when you see her, are you going to
- 1:37:57Speaker 1: refer to her as Crazy Head Emma Roberts?
- 1:37:59Speaker 6: It's a good possibility.
- 1:38:00Speaker 1: Yeah, I was like, it's kind of just what you
- 1:38:02Speaker 1: call her now. So you might forget and be like.
- 1:38:04Speaker 6: Her name's not Emma Roberts. It's Crazy Head Emma Roberts.
- 1:38:06Speaker 1: Hey, Crazy Head Emma Roberts.
- 1:38:07Speaker 4: How's it going?
- 1:38:08Speaker 1: I wonder how she would go to that. Okay. Crazy
- 1:38:12Speaker 1: Head Misty.
- 1:38:13Speaker 6: I've been called worse things.
- 1:38:14Speaker 1: I'm assuming she would sign your photo like that. To
- 1:38:17Speaker 1: Crazy Head Misty.
- 1:38:18Speaker 6: From Crazy Head.
- 1:38:19Speaker 1: I might decapitate you.
- 1:38:21Speaker 6: Love, Emma. She's so adorable.
- 1:38:25Speaker 1: Can't argue that.
- 1:38:26Speaker 6: She's so tiny. You have to watch Scream Queens.
- 1:38:29Speaker 1: I saw the first episode.
- 1:38:30Speaker 6: The whole world. First season only because second season sucked.
- 1:38:34Speaker 6: First season, Scream Queens.
- 1:38:36Speaker 1: They cross over, though. Because I think the Catherine girl
- 1:38:39Speaker 1: is also in.
- 1:38:41Speaker 1: What's the other thing she's in?
- 1:38:42Speaker 9: The.
- 1:38:43Speaker 1: Coven? Yeah, one of those American horror stories I think
- 1:38:47Speaker 1: she's in. Which one? I don't know because I didn't
- 1:38:49Speaker 1: watch those because, again, I don't have time for TV shows.
- 1:38:52Speaker 1: But it does make me want to go back and
- 1:38:54Speaker 1: watch because I was like she did. The Catherine girl
- 1:38:56Speaker 1: looked familiar enough that I was like, do I know
- 1:38:58Speaker 1: her from something? Because it feels like I know her
- 1:38:59Speaker 1: from something. I don't think I did. Like she's been
- 1:39:01Speaker 1: in a bunch of stuff and a lot of TV
- 1:39:03Speaker 1: kind of like one episode TV shows or there was
- 1:39:05Speaker 1: another TV show that I never watched in there. But
- 1:39:07Speaker 1: then I went, oh, wait, which one is she there?
- 1:39:09Speaker 1: Remember a couple years ago when they did that new
- 1:39:12Speaker 1: remake of Flowers in the Attic?
- 1:39:13Speaker 6: Did not watch it.
- 1:39:14Speaker 1: It's like Heather Graham and Ellen Burstyn is the crazy
- 1:39:17Speaker 1: mom and like Heather Graham's the mom mom.
- 1:39:19Speaker 6: Seems like there was somebody else in there that has
- 1:39:21Speaker 6: a reason that I wanted to watch it.
- 1:39:22Speaker 1: The older daughter is the Catherine in this movie.
- 1:39:24Speaker 6: There's somebody else because it's on my list and I
- 1:39:26Speaker 6: can't remember why. So there's bound to be somebody else
- 1:39:27Speaker 6: in there that I wanted to see. Where's my phone?
- 1:39:30Speaker 6: It's not in here.
- 1:39:32Speaker 1: Damn it, hell.
- 1:39:33Speaker 6: Unless they were in the sequel. Well, somebody in the
- 1:39:36Speaker 6: sequel because they made a sequel to the new one.
- 1:39:42Speaker 1: And we have lost her she wandered off to go.
- 1:39:48Speaker 6: Hey you all got your phones i'm not prepared because
- 1:39:51Speaker 6: they're they said they redid the flowers in the attic
- 1:39:53Speaker 6: but then they did a sequel they did petals on
- 1:39:55Speaker 6: the wind.
- 1:39:57Speaker 1: See, I thought they got a couple in, and then
- 1:39:58Speaker 1: they bailed on it again, which is, I assume every
- 1:40:01Speaker 1: time they greenlight this project, they're just like, and we
- 1:40:04Speaker 1: can make all of those books, because that lady wrote
- 1:40:07Speaker 1: a million of those books, and then new people wrote
- 1:40:09Speaker 1: a million of those books after she died, so, like,
- 1:40:11Speaker 1: you'd think they'd really, especially in this era of, like,
- 1:40:15Speaker 1: teen dramas, and, like, converting stuff from books to movies
- 1:40:19Speaker 1: for teenagers, and, like, trying to make series of movies
- 1:40:22Speaker 1: instead of just one movie, like, you'd think they'd make
- 1:40:24Speaker 1: that happen, but Yeah, somehow they don't get too far
- 1:40:27Speaker 1: in on those series.
- 1:40:29Speaker 6: Those books are a mess, I'm telling you.
- 1:40:30Speaker 1: I mean, just that first one, there's a lot of
- 1:40:33Speaker 1: crazy shit going on.
- 1:40:34Speaker 6: They don't get less complicated or full of crazy shit
- 1:40:37Speaker 6: as they go on, let me tell you.
- 1:40:38Speaker 1: That's why I thought it was funny, because I was like,
- 1:40:40Speaker 1: that's kind of the same weird thing. Well, they made
- 1:40:42Speaker 1: three of them.
- 1:40:42Speaker 6: They made If There Be Thorns, too.
- 1:40:44Speaker 3: Oh, no.
- 1:40:45Speaker 1: Crazy lifetime.
- 1:40:46Speaker 6: Oh, no. In the sequel, because changing actresses, apparently, in
- 1:40:52Speaker 6: the first one, the The Flowers in the Attic, Kathy
- 1:40:55Speaker 6: is played by the chick.
- 1:40:57Speaker 1: Catherine from this movie. Yeah.
- 1:41:00Speaker 6: In the sequel, she's played by Rose MacGyver.
- 1:41:03Speaker 10: Well.
- 1:41:03Speaker 6: Switching shit up, aren't we?
- 1:41:05Speaker 1: I kind of need to see that, too, because who
- 1:41:06Speaker 1: doesn't want to see Rose MacGyver?
- 1:41:09Speaker 6: I adore her.
- 1:41:09Speaker 1: I'm all about Rose MacGyver.
- 1:41:11Speaker 6: Let's see who plays Kathy in the If There Be Thorns.
- 1:41:15Speaker 6: I don't even know who you are, lady.
- 1:41:16Speaker 1: So they really changed it every single movie? That's a
- 1:41:19Speaker 1: weird maneuver.
- 1:41:22Speaker 6: But I think most of the other actors stayed the
- 1:41:23Speaker 6: same because Heather Graham's in all of them.
- 1:41:25Speaker 1: She ain't got none of those.
- 1:41:26Speaker 6: No shit. They did Seeds of Yesterday? How many fucking
- 1:41:31Speaker 6: movies did they do?
- 1:41:32Speaker 1: Obviously they got a lot of soap to sell or
- 1:41:35Speaker 1: whatever they're putting on in these commercials that keep getting
- 1:41:37Speaker 1: them money. So maybe they did make that whole series.
- 1:41:39Speaker 1: I kept thinking they dropped the ball every time they
- 1:41:41Speaker 1: started those.
- 1:41:43Speaker 6: They made at least all these. But they're all the.
- 1:41:46Speaker 6: I love UC Andrews books, but they're all the same
- 1:41:48Speaker 6: goddamn thing. There's always incest and abuse. Yep, yep.
- 1:41:52Speaker 1: She knows how to write books to tell.
- 1:41:53Speaker 6: Actually, she does it because she's dead. Like, all the
- 1:41:55Speaker 6: books are written by somebody else.
- 1:41:56Speaker 1: Not the originals.
- 1:41:57Speaker 6: I don't even think she wrote that many books. I mean, seriously,
- 1:42:01Speaker 6: when you think V.C. Andrews, you go to the fucking bookstore.
- 1:42:04Speaker 6: There's an entire.
- 1:42:04Speaker 1: It's like six shelves worth of nothing but those books
- 1:42:07Speaker 1: with her name on it. But, you look real close,
- 1:42:09Speaker 1: it's writing in the style of V.C.
- 1:42:12Speaker 7: Andrews.
- 1:42:12Speaker 1: Some other random person.
- 1:42:15Speaker 6: Yeah, it's like, I don't think she wrote that many books. So,
- 1:42:17Speaker 6: I mean, she might have gotten through, like, maybe two series.
- 1:42:20Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 1:42:20Speaker 6: But it seems like According to the bookstore, she wrote
- 1:42:24Speaker 6: 50 billion books.
- 1:42:27Speaker 1: So did Ian Fleming. In the style of Ian Fleming,
- 1:42:32Speaker 1: some other dude. That seems like that shouldn't be legit.
- 1:42:35Speaker 1: You can't just steal somebody else's series of books and
- 1:42:39Speaker 1: pretend like you're them. Just put a new author's name
- 1:42:42Speaker 1: on it.
- 1:42:43Speaker 6: Apparently she got through the... Why We're in the Attic series,
- 1:42:46Speaker 6: which she wrote all of those. My Sweet Audrina, which
- 1:42:50Speaker 6: I love the first book, which is all they fucking needed.
- 1:42:52Speaker 6: They didn't need to make a sequel last year. The
- 1:42:56Speaker 6: first fucking book came out in 1982. We are way
- 1:42:58Speaker 6: off topic, by the way.
- 1:42:59Speaker 1: You think? Yeah, I think.
- 1:43:02Speaker 6: And then she wrote the first three of the Castiel series.
- 1:43:04Speaker 1: Those are pretty good, too. Sorry.
- 1:43:07Speaker 6: They were good. The first three. Or two. Sorry.
- 1:43:11Speaker 12: Go ahead.
- 1:43:11Speaker 4: Go ahead.
- 1:43:12Speaker 6: Wrap it up.
- 1:43:12Speaker 1: I'm done. You love your creepy old lady books. I do.
- 1:43:19Speaker 6: That's no shame. They were like, the V.C. Andrews book
- 1:43:24Speaker 6: you've been waiting for was starting vampires. And I was like, what?
- 1:43:27Speaker 6: I have not been waiting for this.
- 1:43:29Speaker 1: I think that's a different mode altogether.
- 1:43:32Speaker 6: Oh, there was incest, so that made it okay.
- 1:43:34Speaker 1: Oh, that's fine.
- 1:43:36Speaker 6: Not really.
- 1:43:36Speaker 2: Not really.
- 1:43:38Speaker 1: All right. So obviously we will be doing many more
- 1:43:41Speaker 1: ridiculous things in the near future and gearing up for Halloween.
- 1:43:44Speaker 1: So I love Halloween.
- 1:43:48Speaker 6: I agree.
- 1:43:49Speaker 1: I'm getting quite fired up for it in the near future.
- 1:43:52Speaker 1: So save it for your Halloween episode. Start planning it
- 1:43:57Speaker 1: now because there's so much stuff we could do. We
- 1:43:59Speaker 1: need to pin down a few things right now.
- 1:44:01Speaker 4: So.
- 1:44:02Speaker 1: Start planning your Halloween episode now.
- 1:44:04Speaker 6: Lady in white.
- 1:44:05Speaker 10: Boom.
- 1:44:06Speaker 6: Then figure it out.
- 1:44:06Speaker 1: All right. We're making plans. You plan to join us
- 1:44:10Speaker 1: in the near future. Otherwise, that about does it. We
- 1:44:13Speaker 1: will return next time. Same geek feed. Thanks for listening.
- 1:44:16Speaker 6: Bye.
- 1:44:17Speaker 3: Bye.
- 1:44:17Speaker 11: In the garden I'm told Before I was born In
- 1:44:28Speaker 11: the still working morning, the seed was sown. Both the
- 1:44:36Speaker 11: lamb and the lion were unnamed and unborn. She wore her.
- 1:44:47Speaker 12: Hair around her neck At the foot of the bed
- 1:44:56Speaker 12: where the husband.
- 1:45:00Speaker 7: Kept The sea of white roses where the lower things crept.
- 1:45:12Speaker 11: In the black night. In the garden beyond the overgrowth.
- 1:45:32Speaker 11: Weeds and wildflowers.
- 1:45:35Speaker 12: Swallow the rose.
- 1:45:40Speaker 11: Where they move with their maker to the end, how
- 1:45:45Speaker 11: it goes. In the black.
- 1:45:58Speaker 9: Night.
- 1:45:59Speaker 12: The black night.
- 1:46:04Speaker 1: Is that Linda Black? Take a look.
- 1:46:09Speaker 6: It is totally Linda Blair.
- 1:46:10Speaker 1: I was going.
- 1:46:14Speaker 6: To ask her what she thought about the movie.
- 1:46:16Speaker 1: Have you seen The Black Coat's Daughter?
- 1:46:20Speaker 6: Starring Emma Roberts, who I adore.
- 1:46:21Speaker 1: She's like, ugh, movies where girls get possessed. I hate
- 1:46:24Speaker 1: that shit.
- 1:46:25Speaker 6: Oh, she's smoking a cigarette.
- 1:46:26Speaker 3: Smokers.
- 1:46:29Speaker 1: You're an insane person.
- 1:46:31Speaker 11: You know that, right?
- 1:46:32Speaker 1: There's probably decapitated heads also sitting in your house somewhere.
- 1:46:36Speaker 6: That's why I wouldn't let you have any soda.
- 1:46:39Speaker 1: You do have to keep them refrigerated.
- 1:46:40Speaker 6: I mean, just a little tidbit.
- 1:46:42Speaker 1: From the studio guys.
- 1:46:43Speaker 6: It won't fit in the freezer with the turkey.
- 1:46:46Speaker 1: You leave Harold out of it.
- 1:46:50Speaker 6: I will rub oil through his shirt.
- 1:46:51Speaker 1: You're just assuming he's walking around the entire weekend with
- 1:46:54Speaker 1: no shirt on.
- 1:46:54Speaker 3: Duh.
- 1:46:55Speaker 1: I mean, I kind of.
- 1:46:56Speaker 4: She's going to chase after him with a squirt bottle
- 1:46:58Speaker 4: of baby oil.
- 1:47:00Speaker 6: Don't warn him.
- 1:47:06Speaker 1: She's such a freak.
- 1:47:07Speaker 6: It smells good.
- 1:47:08Speaker 1: No wonder you have severed heads around here.
- 1:47:11Speaker 6: I don't have any severed heads. I've got frozen turkeys.
- 1:47:14Speaker 1: That's the kind of bonus you get if you stick
- 1:47:16Speaker 1: around until the end of the show.
- 1:47:17Speaker 8: This episode is a production of Movie Meltdown, produced and
