- 0:00Speaker 1: Hey, look who's on the kiss cam? Oh wait, that's us.
- 0:02Speaker 1: It's one more thing.
- 0:04Speaker 2: I'm strong and getty.
- 0:06Speaker 1: One more thing.
- 0:15Speaker 3: When Caitlyn Clark retires from the w NBA, she's going
- 0:18Speaker 3: to work at a waffle house so she can continue
- 0:20Speaker 3: doing what she loves most, fistfighting black women.
- 0:30Speaker 1: A Shane Gillis joke from the SP's Last Night that Wow, Wow,
- 0:41Speaker 1: Shane Gillis is one funny freaking dude.
- 0:44Speaker 2: That is a funny, edgy joke.
- 0:48Speaker 1: So my tease of look who's in on the kiss cam?
- 0:52Speaker 1: I only kind of know the story, So we bring
- 0:54Speaker 1: in executive producer Mike Hanton to explain what we're what
- 0:57Speaker 1: is going on here?
- 0:58Speaker 3: That's about as much as you need to know. Smart
- 1:00Speaker 3: and the singer of Coldplay at a concert, employing the
- 1:04Speaker 3: kiss cam and capturing a loving moment between a man
- 1:07Speaker 3: and a woman. I want to play the clip and
- 1:09Speaker 3: then we could backsell it.
- 1:11Speaker 1: I guess yeah. Oh look at these people, all right,
- 1:15Speaker 1: come on, king, what either that having an effan or
- 1:20Speaker 1: they're just very shot.
- 1:26Speaker 3: So they put the kiss cam on him and what happened?
- 1:28Speaker 3: They dive did a dive bomb. Both of them tried
- 1:31Speaker 3: to escape the lens of the camera. Well, the man
- 1:34Speaker 3: just just ducked down immediately, and the woman turned her
- 1:38Speaker 3: back and she stood there for a while.
- 1:40Speaker 1: But it does.
- 1:41Speaker 3: Appear that they in fact were not a married couple,
- 1:44Speaker 3: and that the ceo, I guess it's some I don't
- 1:46Speaker 3: know what company he's in charge of, but that's uh.
- 1:49Speaker 3: According to Twitter, that's the HR chief at the company
- 1:52Speaker 3: that he runs.
- 1:54Speaker 1: So the CEO of a company is with the HR
- 1:57Speaker 1: girl at a concert with her at Chris Barton puts
- 2:02Speaker 1: him on the kiss can say well, I don't know,
- 2:04Speaker 1: they didn't want to be anthing, must be having an
- 2:05Speaker 1: affair or something. It turns out that's exactly what was happening.
- 2:08Speaker 3: And it would also appear that that moment proves that
- 2:12Speaker 3: the HR chick has not gone through her latest installment
- 2:16Speaker 3: of training.
- 2:16Speaker 1: And the only reason you would do that is because
- 2:19Speaker 1: you didn't do the training, or.
- 2:21Speaker 2: Or he was using his imbalance of power, right man
- 2:25Speaker 2: splaining misogyny paternal list.
- 2:30Speaker 1: Wow, I mean, there's all kinds of reasons. That's a
- 2:32Speaker 1: bad idea. If one or both of you is married,
- 2:35Speaker 1: that you shouldn't be doing that anyway. But if you
- 2:38Speaker 1: think getting involved with the hr person who knows every
- 2:41Speaker 1: single lever to bowl in terms of ruining your life.
- 2:47Speaker 2: Well, that's easy to say unless she's pulling your lever.
- 2:50Speaker 1: Ah Michael gets it. Okay, thank you for that. Hanswer
- 3:00Speaker 1: came across this the other day. I kind of liked
- 3:04Speaker 1: the tone of it. It was scientists help being you
- 3:09Speaker 1: get back to sleep or get to sleep, saying we
- 3:14Speaker 1: know you're drinking coffee later than you should in the day.
- 3:17Speaker 1: We know you're looking at your phone, so let's just
- 3:19Speaker 1: skip past that. Now what do you do? Which is
- 3:22Speaker 1: not a bad I wish more science looked at things
- 3:25Speaker 1: that way from the more realistic standpoint instead of just
- 3:30Speaker 1: laying out the don't drink any caffeine after ten am,
- 3:32Speaker 1: don't look you from Okay, that's great, it'd be great
- 3:34Speaker 1: if I didn't, but I did. So now what what
- 3:36Speaker 1: you got for me? What do you got for me?
- 3:38Speaker 1: And now I get to sleep or or get back
- 3:40Speaker 1: to sleep. And there's just some of your recommendations they
- 3:43Speaker 1: had here. A lot of them you've heard before, some
- 3:45Speaker 1: of them I hadn't, Like, I don't know if I'd
- 3:47Speaker 1: ever done this before. I think my mom might have
- 3:49Speaker 1: told me about this when I was a kid. Tens
- 3:52Speaker 1: your toes, flex them for five seconds, then release m
- 3:57Speaker 1: This is known as progressive muscle relaxation. Read his tension
- 4:00Speaker 1: and calms the sympathetic nervous system.
- 4:03Speaker 2: Yeah, I learned about that in college.
- 4:05Speaker 1: Tense your toes. I'm not exactly sure. I know what
- 4:07Speaker 1: tensing my toes means.
- 4:08Speaker 2: Well, you work through every muscle system you can. Strict
- 4:11Speaker 2: the muscle, then relaxing.
- 4:12Speaker 1: Okay, has that ever worked for you?
- 4:15Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 4:16Speaker 1: I feel like I did this years ago and it
- 4:18Speaker 1: didn't give me a benefit from it. So this one
- 4:22Speaker 1: is new to me. And somebody I know told me
- 4:24Speaker 1: that they always go to a TV show or movie
- 4:28Speaker 1: that they've seen a million times when they can't get
- 4:30Speaker 1: to say the scientists actually say, that's a good idea.
- 4:33Speaker 1: Watch a TV show you've seen many times before, an
- 4:36Speaker 1: old episode of the Office or Frasier or whatever movie
- 4:38Speaker 1: you like. The idea is to find something both comforting
- 4:41Speaker 1: and familiar enough that you doze off without getting invested
- 4:44Speaker 1: in any way.
- 4:47Speaker 2: Huh.
- 4:49Speaker 1: So, if I'm watching something new, the scientists think, I
- 4:52Speaker 1: want to know how it turns out enough that it
- 4:54Speaker 1: might keep me awake, Whereas if I know what's gonna happen.
- 4:57Speaker 1: I'll fall asleep. Well maybe that's just.
- 4:59Speaker 2: The difference between taking in new information and well Warren
- 5:04Speaker 2: information too.
- 5:05Speaker 1: Can you watch reruns very very rarely? Well, I don't watch.
- 5:12Speaker 1: I don't watch pre runs. I don't watch in the
- 5:14Speaker 1: first place at this point in my life. But I
- 5:17Speaker 1: used to watch lots of reruns. Oh, this is a
- 5:20Speaker 1: great episode of Seinfeld or Mash or whatever I was watching,
- 5:22Speaker 1: or movies. I can watch movies for many times. My
- 5:25Speaker 1: dad was always a hardcore like if they were running
- 5:29Speaker 1: a rerun, we've seen this before, Like get up and
- 5:32Speaker 1: walk out of the room, like he can't even imagine.
- 5:35Speaker 1: Why would you spend your time watching the show you've seen?
- 5:37Speaker 1: And I knew somebody else like that. I've only known
- 5:39Speaker 1: two people in my life that were hardcore that way,
- 5:41Speaker 1: which is no, I've already seen this.
- 5:44Speaker 2: Yeah, and I know another guy who's a very successful guy,
- 5:46Speaker 2: works hard smart, that's his thing. He watches old shows
- 5:51Speaker 2: a lot when he's working out, for instance, huh, some
- 5:54Speaker 2: sort of like doing treadmill or elliptical or whatever. He
- 5:57Speaker 2: likes to watch the old Seinfeld episodes.
- 5:59Speaker 1: So it's like comport food a term that I hate.
- 6:01Speaker 1: But it's just something easy.
- 6:03Speaker 2: And he's a great guy and a good friend, but
- 6:04Speaker 2: he's always hitting me with you. Remember that episode when
- 6:07Speaker 2: I mean because somebody, You'll mention I don't know a
- 6:09Speaker 2: ham sandwich and he's like you remember that episode a
- 6:11Speaker 2: Seinfeld where Jerry had the ham sandwich and Cramer and
- 6:14Speaker 2: I'll be no, no, I don't.
- 6:18Speaker 1: Here's a dumb one I'd never heard of. Read a
- 6:20Speaker 1: nutrition label. It sounds silly, but the label has enough
- 6:24Speaker 1: information to occupy your mind, but is boring enough to
- 6:27Speaker 1: coax you to sleep. This sounds like complete bs to me,
- 6:29Speaker 1: but it's supposedly from scientists.
- 6:31Speaker 2: Well, even better, double up, have this same nutrition label
- 6:35Speaker 2: next to your bed that you read over and over again.
- 6:38Speaker 1: Oh. I love this nutrition label. It's got the flex.
- 6:41Speaker 1: I can't wait till I get to the flex.
- 6:42Speaker 2: Oh this seven grain bread nutrition label. Oh, it's an
- 6:47Speaker 2: old favorite. Let's get started, carbs fourteen grams.
- 6:51Speaker 1: Try cognitive shuffling. Think of a random word, maybe use
- 6:59Speaker 1: bedtime for instance. You're random word, and then think of
- 7:03Speaker 1: as many words as possible that start with B. When
- 7:07Speaker 1: you run out of that, you think as many words
- 7:08Speaker 1: as possible, as you can start with E. I think
- 7:10Speaker 1: you see where I'm going here, and you do that
- 7:12Speaker 1: with each of the letters. The idea is that the
- 7:15Speaker 1: random words will help you stop your brain from cycling
- 7:17Speaker 1: through anxieties we're trying to problem solve late at night,
- 7:20Speaker 1: because it usually is your mind is just like my
- 7:23Speaker 1: mind's on fire with some topic.
- 7:27Speaker 2: Yes, or a variety of them. That's I'll usually have
- 7:30Speaker 2: like three fighting for supremacy, and one is usually a song,
- 7:36Speaker 2: and I'll have that song go through my head till
- 7:38Speaker 2: I start worrying about my kid, and then I'll start
- 7:40Speaker 2: worrying about some other thing, and then the song will
- 7:42Speaker 2: come back in and it's just yeay with me, it's
- 7:45Speaker 2: half nuts with me.
- 7:46Speaker 1: It's usually did I bury him deep enough? Or is
- 7:49Speaker 1: a random stray dog gonna dig him up?
- 7:51Speaker 2: Right? Did I use enough bleach? Oh? Mean? All right,
- 7:56Speaker 2: here's one that I've gone with that really works for me.
- 7:59Speaker 2: If I can describe this properly, and you're gonna think
- 8:03Speaker 2: I'm nuts, but you already think that. I picture a
- 8:08Speaker 2: specific point physically. It can be like a foot in front.
- 8:20Speaker 2: I've got my eyes closed and I'm trying to go
- 8:21Speaker 2: to sleep. It's a foot in front of my face
- 8:27Speaker 2: in space. Picturing How do I express this picturing a
- 8:32Speaker 2: specific point in space? And I don't know how I
- 8:37Speaker 2: get started on doing this, but.
- 8:40Speaker 1: I could do that. I don't even know. I don't know.
- 8:42Speaker 2: If your eyes, close your eyes and picture just the
- 8:47Speaker 2: the point in space, like it's almost a geolocation of
- 8:50Speaker 2: a foot in front of your face, and just be
- 8:54Speaker 2: aware of that space. That's that place.
- 8:57Speaker 1: How did you come with this idea?
- 8:59Speaker 2: I have no idea. I don't remember. But and it's
- 9:03Speaker 2: weird how well it works for me because it's entirely spatial.
- 9:10Speaker 2: It shuts off the verbal part of my brain, and
- 9:12Speaker 2: it shuts off the anxiety part of my brain because
- 9:15Speaker 2: I've got to like keep that spot in my mind.
- 9:18Speaker 2: It's here's, here's how I describe it. It's like I'm
- 9:21Speaker 2: trying to levitate an object and keep it in precisely
- 9:24Speaker 2: that spot. I know it sounds nuts.
- 9:28Speaker 1: I've never heard that before, and I wish.
- 9:30Speaker 2: I knew how. I I don't remember how I am.
- 9:33Speaker 1: You need a book, you need a YouTube channel, you
- 9:36Speaker 1: need a ted talk.
- 9:39Speaker 2: Sounds like a pain in the ass.
- 9:41Speaker 1: Picture a familiar place, Imagine a place you know, well,
- 9:44Speaker 1: in as much detail as possible. Maybe it's your childhood home,
- 9:48Speaker 1: a vacation spot, your favorite park. Take yourself on a
- 9:51Speaker 1: mental tour with as much detailed as you possibly can.
- 9:56Speaker 2: That is interesting. That is a similar I'll bet a
- 10:00Speaker 2: and more part of your brain lights up when you
- 10:02Speaker 2: do that to what I was just describing. Make it
- 10:06Speaker 2: spatial visual as opposed to you know whatever verbal slash
- 10:12Speaker 2: worry occupy your brain doing that.
- 10:14Speaker 1: I did that for a while after my wife and
- 10:18Speaker 1: I honeymoon, however, many years ago, that was many years ago,
- 10:24Speaker 1: had this house on the ocean that erendered and a
- 10:28Speaker 1: big giant window looking out over the ocean, and I
- 10:30Speaker 1: spent a lot of time sitting there, and for a
- 10:32Speaker 1: long time I could take my beltself back to that
- 10:35Speaker 1: spot and picture that like it was just as real
- 10:38Speaker 1: as could be, with quite a bit of detail in
- 10:41Speaker 1: my mind in my picture. But eventually enough time went by,
- 10:43Speaker 1: I lost it. But for a while it was very
- 10:45Speaker 1: very calming for.
- 10:46Speaker 2: Me to do that, right, you could evoke the emotional
- 10:50Speaker 2: state you're in. Yeah, well, that's why everybody wants to
- 10:53Speaker 2: buy real estate wherever they go on vacation, including me.
- 10:57Speaker 1: Oh yeah, brain. When I was in Key West, absolutely
- 11:00Speaker 1: had flyers out and explaining to my kids how I'm
- 11:03Speaker 1: going to buy a house here and you can come
- 11:05Speaker 1: visit me.
- 11:06Speaker 2: Hey, honey, let's just stop and look at this real
- 11:08Speaker 2: estate agent's window. They got some listenings here. I want
- 11:10Speaker 2: to check out. Because because you think if you transport
- 11:13Speaker 2: your current life and lifestyle to that location, you will
- 11:18Speaker 2: have the same emotional as you do on vacation. Yeah,
- 11:22Speaker 2: that's why.
- 11:23Speaker 1: Yeah, now I feel like an idiot.
- 11:26Speaker 2: Well, and it could be that where you are is
- 11:27Speaker 2: very beautiful and you would be happier there.
- 11:30Speaker 1: I think I would happen. I think I would be happier.
- 11:33Speaker 2: I'm such a sucker for that, because I'm just I'm
- 11:36Speaker 2: feeling footloose and fancy free, care free, having a big time.
- 11:40Speaker 2: I'm confident, I'm looking for it. I'm feeling positive, and
- 11:43Speaker 2: I'm thinking, we got to look into a house here, honey.
- 11:47Speaker 2: Let's take what is a square footage.
- 11:50Speaker 1: I was walking down du Vall Street in Key West
- 11:53Speaker 1: after my kids went to bed with a cigar. I
- 11:56Speaker 1: bought at a cigar shop, a Cuban cigar, and about
- 11:58Speaker 1: as happy as I've ever been in my life. Yeah,
- 12:01Speaker 1: that's probably making me think, as you buy a house here,
- 12:04Speaker 1: i'd feel like this all the time.
- 12:06Speaker 2: Yeah, well, I'm not completely pooh poohing the notion. It's
- 12:09Speaker 2: just be aware of that. You've got to picture the
- 12:12Speaker 2: life you would be living, not on vacation in that place.
- 12:17Speaker 2: Otherwise you're kidding yourself.
- 12:18Speaker 1: Some of these are dumb. Place a cold wash cloth
- 12:20Speaker 1: on your forehead. I don't know. Maybe that works for
- 12:23Speaker 1: count backward from one hundred. That's like the oldest idea
- 12:26Speaker 1: in the world. Maybe that works for you. Inhale for
- 12:29Speaker 1: four seconds, hold for four, exhale slowly for eight. I've
- 12:33Speaker 1: heard a lot of these kind of sounds white noise.
- 12:35Speaker 2: Yeah, that kids about the concentration, same idea. You're concentrating
- 12:39Speaker 2: on something completely benign and not what's running through your brain.
- 12:44Speaker 1: I haven't tried this. Drink ice cold water a few steps,
- 12:47Speaker 1: A few SIPs can help lower your overall body temperature,
- 12:50Speaker 1: mimicking its natural decline before sleep. I should try that
- 12:55Speaker 1: ice cold water.
- 12:57Speaker 2: Wait a minute, I'll give that a shot. And as
- 13:01Speaker 2: an older fella, I may have to, you know, have
- 13:03Speaker 2: a late night visit to the Johnny.
- 13:06Speaker 1: But I've got to do that anyway, sit by a
- 13:08Speaker 1: fan like of our show. They're just talking about you.
- 13:13Speaker 2: Remember that time you were talking about the president.
- 13:17Speaker 1: I don't know if I can fall asleep with you
- 13:18Speaker 1: sitting here.
- 13:21Speaker 2: Have you been vetted in some way?
- 13:23Speaker 1: I mean, are you playing as soon as I fall asleep,
- 13:26Speaker 1: you are going to leave right and then lock the doors?
- 13:28Speaker 2: Or am I even wake up pantless? Oh? Yeah?
- 13:31Speaker 1: And a tubful of ice with tubes in my side.
- 13:33Speaker 1: My kidney's going right right.
- 13:36Speaker 2: Well, that topful ice will lower your body temperatures on
- 13:39Speaker 2: you'll drift right off.
- 13:40Speaker 1: All comes together, Well, I guess that's it.
