- 0:00Chris: And now, a dramatic reading of Twilight.
- 0:05Charles: You're impossibly fast and strong.
- 0:10Charles: Your skin is pale white and ice cold.
- 0:14Charles: Your eyes change color and sometimes you speak like you're from a different time.
- 0:20Charles: You can never eat or drink anything.
- 0:22Charles: You don't go into the sunlight.
- 0:25Charles: Pause, wait I'm not supposed to read that.
- 0:28Charles: How old are you?
- 0:29Charles: Seventeen.
- 0:31Charles: How long have you been seventeen?
- 0:34Nora: A while.
- 0:36Charles: I know what you are.
- 0:38Nora: Say it. Say it out loud. Say it.
- 0:42Charles: You're a vampire.
- 0:45Nora: Are you afraid?
- 0:47Charles: No.
- 0:49Nora: Then ask me the most basic question. What do we eat?
- 0:54Charles: I love the face that you're doing.
- 0:56Charles: (laughing)
- 0:57Charles: You're doing the mogging.
- 0:59Nora: I am mogging.
- 1:00Nora: (laughing)
- 1:03Charles: That was great.
- 1:03Charles: What do you guys think in the back room
- 1:05Charles: on a scale of one to 10?
- 1:07Mandy: Your Kermie was better.
- 1:08Mandy: Your Kermie was a 10.
- 1:09Mandy: This was, I'll give it a solid eight.
- 1:11Charles: Should I do some of the lines as Kermit?
- 1:13Mandy: I feel like you should.
- 1:14Charles: You're impossibly fast and strong.
- 1:16Charles: Your skin is pale white and ice cold.
- 1:19Charles: Your eyes change-- - Kermit!
- 1:21Charles: (laughing)
- 1:22Charles: Your eyes change color and sometimes you speak
- 1:24Charles: Like you're from a different time.
- 1:26Charles: You never eat or drink anything,
- 1:28Charles: and you don't go into the sunlight.
- 1:30Charles: Yay!
- 1:30Nora: 17!
- 1:32Nora: (laughing)
- 1:34Charles: Roll that intro.
- 2:23Charles: I was doing it all last week, the mogging phase.
- 2:26Charles: But I feel like we're gonna do it all this week.
- 2:28Charles: Like I did it because I looked so skinny on camera.
- 2:30Charles: And now this week we're gonna do it
- 2:32Charles: just because we're making fun of Edward.
- 2:35Charles: (laughing)
- 2:41Charles: I have to do it a little bit more like,
- 2:43Charles: 'cause that's a little bit more smug.
- 2:45Charles: He's a little bit more.
- 2:48Chris: Folks, welcome to Vibe Check Live.
- 2:50Chris: It is our weekly dose of insanity.
- 2:52Chris: We're glad you are with us.
- 2:54Chris: Give us a phone call at 888-853-VIBE.
- 2:57Chris: It's a real number you can call.
- 2:59Chris: Tell us your deepest, darkest desires.
- 3:01Chris: Tell us what sweet nothings you want Charles
- 3:04Chris: to read into the microphone as Kermit the Frog.
- 3:07Chris: Yeah.
- 3:08Chris: Yes.
- 3:08Mandy: Tell us if you're Team Edward or Team Bella.
- 3:10Mandy: Nope, Team Edward or Team Jacob.
- 3:12Mandy: I'm not Bella.
- 3:13Charles: Honestly, I don't like Bella either.
- 3:16Charles: We'll get to it.
- 3:16Charles: We'll get to it.
- 3:18Charles: We'll get there.
- 3:19Charles: Hi, folks.
- 3:20Charles: Like Chris said, welcome to Vibe Check.
- 3:22Charles: I am your humblest of hosts, Charles Joseph Kelly.
- 3:29Nora: And we've established this before.
- 3:30Nora: I'm not humble at all.
- 3:31Nora: And I'm Nora.
- 3:32Charles: And on the ones and twos, who do we got back in the studio
- 3:35Charles: today?
- 3:36Chris: I am Edward Cullen, but you can call me Chris.
- 3:39Chris: Hello, everybody.
- 3:40Chris: Good to be here.
- 3:41Chris: Sorry we were gone last week.
- 3:43Chris: Why were we gone last week, y'all?
- 3:45Charles: We were just all feeling rough.
- 3:47Charles: Real tired.
- 3:48Charles: It was a rough, rough week.
- 3:51Nora: The thing that I did last week instead of the show,
- 3:54Mandy: I took a four-hour nap.
- 3:55Mandy: They took five vials of my blood to test me.
- 3:59Chris: Yeah, Mandy almost died as a result
- 4:01Chris: of our team-building excursion.
- 4:04Chris: Mandy, tell us about that.
- 4:05Mandy: I usually have a handler that makes sure
- 4:08Mandy: I don't touch anything or sanitizes my hands before I eat.
- 4:12Mandy: And they were not there to take care of me
- 4:15Mandy: and to handle, fondle me.
- 4:18Mandy: And so
- 4:18Mandy: A little bit of both.
- 4:19Mandy: Yeah, a little bit of both.
- 4:20Mandy: And so I got sick from wrestling dudes.
- 4:23Mandy: We know that's what it was.
- 4:25Mandy: Gross, unwashed.
- 4:25Mandy: You were wrestling the dudes?
- 4:27Mandy: Unfortunately not, but I do have my favorite picked out.
- 4:30Mandy: Ooh, who's your favorite?
- 4:33Mandy: The Tom Selleck lookalike, Dapper Dan.
- 4:36Mandy: Deck Draper, yes.
- 4:37Mandy: Yeah, Deck Draper. - There we go.
- 4:39Chris: Did you say Dapper Dan?
- 4:40Chris: Yeah.
- 4:41Chris: Dapper Dan is also a good name, I would say.
- 4:44Nora: Deck Draper is who I picture Carl
- 4:46Nora: from Dungeon Crawler Carl as when I read the books,
- 4:49Nora: because I just appreciate him that much.
- 4:51Nora: So. - Makes sense.
- 4:52Charles: Yeah, you've said that like seven times now.
- 4:54Nora: I know, it's just
- 4:55Nora: Look, he was our favorite for a reason.
- 4:57Nora: That's the only-- - We liked him.
- 4:58Nora: The one anecdote that I have about it.
- 5:00Chris: We all just liked him because he ripped his pants off.
- 5:03Mandy: I mean, before we knew he was gonna do that.
- 5:06Mandy: He had dimples too. - That's true.
- 5:07Mandy: We were on board. - Y'all were going crazy.
- 5:09Mandy: We were ready to go before that.
- 5:11Charles: Yeah, yep.
- 5:12Charles: So what have you guys been up to for the last two weeks?
- 5:14Charles: What the heck has been going on?
- 5:16Nora: I had an exciting weekend, or start to my week.
- 5:19Nora: So on Monday night, my dog is like freaking out,
- 5:23Nora: kind of panic barking at something.
- 5:25Nora: And I go outside and I found a baby squirrel
- 5:27Nora: that fell out of its nest.
- 5:29Nora: So I made a little video for you guys
- 5:31Nora: so you can see my little journey with baby squirrel.
- 5:34Nora: I want to call him baby nut,
- 5:35Nora: but I know that both of you are gonna make fun of that.
- 5:38Nora: So.
- 5:39Nora: No, I won't do that.
- 5:40Nora: I won't, Chris, we're not allowed to make any baby nut jokes.
- 5:44Nora: He was just, he was this little baby squirrel
- 5:46Nora: and was so afraid of my dog,
- 5:49Nora: but my dog was like not super aggressive.
- 5:51Nora: She was just excited and wanted to play with it.
- 5:53Nora: But yeah, Chris, if you could roll the video.
- 5:55Chris: Wait, how did you cuddle the baby nut?
- 5:58Chris: (Chris cooing)
- 6:02Nora: My dog was yelling at something last night and long story short, I have a baby squirrel.
- 6:11Mandy: It was so cute. White women will rescue anything.
- 6:17Nora: White night complex. Reunification didn't work which is sad but
- 6:23Nora: Matilda did find the baby.
- 6:25Nora: It crawled out of the box and she played with it,
- 6:29Nora: but it's not injured.
- 6:31Nora: Like it, it might have some of the internal,
- 6:33Nora: but like here it's breathing.
- 6:36Nora: It's still adorably cute.
- 6:39Nora: It's so cute.
- 6:40Nora: I have a whole box set up.
- 6:41Nora: I have a little warm spot,
- 6:43Nora: a little spot for baby to sleep.
- 6:45Nora: I have baby in this box.
- 6:49Nora: It's going in this box up here.
- 6:52Charles: I'm gonna put that box in a box.
- 6:54Charles: Because it kept climbing out.
- 6:55Charles: Smash that box with a hammer.
- 6:57Nora: It kept climbing out.
- 6:59Nora: I'm just gonna go ahead and
- 7:02Nora: seal this up for now.
- 7:04Nora: We'll see baby in the morning.
- 7:06Nora: Drive the long way.
- 7:08Nora: So, here we go.
- 7:10Nora: Baby's squirrel rescue time.
- 7:11Nora: I'm here with my little squirrel friend.
- 7:14Nora: My squirrel friend is here.
- 7:15Nora: And we're gonna drive down the long way.
- 7:17Chris: I love that you made a whole vlog on this, Dora.
- 7:19Nora: Look it's her Disney princess moment. Yeah
- 7:51Nora: And little friend is doing pretty good.
- 7:54Nora: We're sleeping.
- 7:55Nora: I gotta go say goodbye.
- 7:58Nora: That's quite the time.
- 8:00Mandy: I've always wanted to be a Disney princess.
- 8:02Charles: I think we all have.
- 8:04Charles: I love, okay.
- 8:05Charles: I love that you used that photo again
- 8:07Charles: because I wanted to bring it up.
- 8:08Charles: It looked more, less like you were holding the squirrel
- 8:11Charles: and more like you were doing a nail reveal.
- 8:14Nora: (laughing)
- 8:15Nora: Look at my nails and also the squirrel.
- 8:17Charles: This is how I show off my nails with a squirrel in my hand.
- 8:22Charles: As you do.
- 8:23Nora: It was just the cutest little baby,
- 8:25Nora: and it curled up on my shoulder.
- 8:27Nora: And I got it to the rehab today, so it's
- 8:31Nora: going to go hang out with all of its other orphan baby squirrels.
- 8:34Nora: So when you rehab them, do they send you updates
- 8:36Nora: on how little Nut is doing?
- 8:38Nora: I opted in, so hopefully I get some updates.
- 8:41Nora: OK, good.
- 8:42Nora: And I was like
- 8:43Nora: I had so much anxiety.
- 8:45Nora: It was like, "Mandy, you're probably most familiar
- 8:47Nora: "with this, but like puppy anxiety."
- 8:49Nora: Yeah. - You know, you never know
- 8:51Nora: that they're gonna die or something on you.
- 8:53Nora: Like, you never know.
- 8:55Nora: And so I was like so anxious between the time
- 8:58Nora: that I found it and the time I dropped it off.
- 9:00Nora: I was like, "Please don't die, please don't die,
- 9:02Nora: "please don't die, I don't want you to die."
- 9:05Nora: No, too much responsibility for me.
- 9:07Nora: Yeah, it was a lot of responsibility.
- 9:09Nora: Maybe in another life I'll be a wildlife rehabber,
- 9:11Nora: But baby squirrels are just the cutest little things,
- 9:16Nora: even though adult squirrels are nasty.
- 9:17Nora: But like, baby
- 9:19Nora: What did Big Nut do to you?
- 9:24Charles: They
- 9:25Charles: Are you against Big Nut?
- 9:26Nora: --ate all of the corn from our garden.
- 9:28Chris: Tell us where Big Nut hurt you.
- 9:29Nora: We didn't get any corn from our garden
- 9:31Nora: this year because the squirrels ate every single ear of corn.
- 9:35Nora: And they sit in the trees and scream at us
- 9:38Nora: when we're in our own yard.
- 9:39Nora: And they're just little bastards.
- 9:41Nora: They're plotting against us.
- 9:44Nora: They tease the dogs.
- 9:45Nora: They're smarter than we give them credit for.
- 9:47Nora: Tell us how you really feel.
- 9:49Nora: The baby nut, little nut, he was so cute.
- 9:52Nora: It was just the cutest little thing.
- 9:54Chris: So you like little nut, but you cannot lie.
- 9:58Nora: I guess.
- 10:00Nora: Yeah.
- 10:01Chris: Hey, Mandy, you went to Costco.
- 10:02Charles: What was that like?
- 10:04Charles: [LAUGHTER]
- 10:06Mandy: How am I supposed to follow that up?
- 10:08Chris: We're the masters of the segue over here.
- 10:11Mandy: (laughing)
- 10:13Mandy: My TV died and I think I normally can play,
- 10:17Mandy: I think, neurotypical pretty well in the world.
- 10:19Mandy: Like, you know, I get through the world pretty well.
- 10:21Mandy: No, no, this is full out neurodivergent.
- 10:24Mandy: I walk in there and I'm like, "TV."
- 10:26Mandy: And he's like, "What do you want?"
- 10:27Mandy: "TV now."
- 10:28Mandy: "Well, how much size?"
- 10:29Mandy: "TV now."
- 10:30Mandy: Big.
- 10:31Mandy: He's like, "Well, how much money?"
- 10:33Mandy: "I don't care.
- 10:34Mandy: "TV now."
- 10:34Mandy: And he's like, "But really."
- 10:35Mandy: And I was like, "No."
- 10:36Mandy: I need TV. - "I do not care.
- 10:37Mandy: Sell me a TV now, I cannot be left alone
- 10:40Mandy: with my thoughts for more than 20 seconds, no.
- 10:43Chris: Why was our intern not with you?
- 10:44Chris: Oh my god.
- 10:46Mandy: The intern was there, but I'm paying for it,
- 10:48Mandy: so he can just shut up.
- 10:50Mandy: (laughing)
- 10:50Mandy: So he was like, "Well, well," and I was like,
- 10:52Mandy: "No, I want in and out in five minutes or I'm done.
- 10:55Mandy: "Let's go, let's go now."
- 10:56Mandy: Get me a TV.
- 10:57Mandy: (laughing)
- 10:57Mandy: So now I have a 77 inch OLED mat something
- 11:02Mandy: and a new sound system.
- 11:04Charles: Wow, you bought more than just TV.
- 11:08Mandy: What do I need?
- 11:09Mandy: I don't know what makes TV go.
- 11:10Chris: Well, when you walk into a store
- 11:13Chris: and you tell the salesperson,
- 11:15Chris: hey, here's a blank check.
- 11:17Chris: I don't really care about the cost
- 11:19Chris: or the specs or anything else.
- 11:22Chris: I need to go shopping with Mandy.
- 11:24Chris: Right?
- 11:24Mandy: I hate shopping, guys.
- 11:26Mandy: I hate it.
- 11:27Mandy: Like, I want in and out.
- 11:28Mandy: I bought my car and like drove it in one place
- 11:31Mandy: and then went and bought it somewhere else
- 11:32Mandy: and I told the guy,
- 11:33Mandy: 'cause the other people took too long to sell me a car.
- 11:35Mandy: And I said, "So you better make this fast."
- 11:38Mandy: And he was like, "Oh my God, yeah, okay."
- 11:39Mandy: And we were in and out in 45 minutes.
- 11:42Mandy: Wow.
- 11:42Mandy: Maybe an hour.
- 11:43Chris: That's like a superpower of a sort.
- 11:45Nora: But she's not afraid to drop some dollars when she shops.
- 11:50Nora: 'Cause it gets her out of there faster.
- 11:51Mandy: If it gets me out of there faster,
- 11:52Mandy: or if I'm more comfortable, done.
- 11:55Chris: You would walk into a dealership looking for a Honda Civic
- 11:58Chris: and leave with a Rolls Royce?
- 12:01Chris: (laughing)
- 12:03Mandy: I do have my handler with me most of the time for reasons.
- 12:06Mandy: (laughing)
- 12:08Chris: And whenever you go outside without your handler,
- 12:11Chris: you end up like half dead.
- 12:12Chris: Yeah.
- 12:13Nora: I mean, our yarn excursion went pretty successfully,
- 12:17Nora: but you did have your secondary.
- 12:19Nora: Yeah, I was gonna say
- 12:20Nora: Right, your favorite person there.
- 12:22Nora: Yeah, so Lynn is my adult as well.
- 12:24Nora: Right, yeah.
- 12:25Chris: It's good to have backup adults.
- 12:27Nora: A backup adult, yeah.
- 12:29Nora: Chris, what happened with you this weekend?
- 12:32Chris: So, this weekend I went on Saturday
- 12:35Chris: to the first annual, question mark,
- 12:39Chris: Colorado Pizza Festival.
- 12:41Chris: Oh.
- 12:42Chris: Very first time that they have done this.
- 12:44Chris: It was in Longmont, Colorado,
- 12:46Chris: which is about 45 minutes to an hour south of here.
- 12:50Chris: It's like three towns away.
- 12:51Chris: Yeah, between here and Denver,
- 12:53Chris: but they had over 25 different pizza places
- 12:58Chris: from around the state there,
- 13:00Chris: And I am really, really glad that we got there
- 13:03Chris: at the very beginning when they opened
- 13:05Chris: because it became chaos very quickly.
- 13:09Chris: Here's a video that I found online of the event.
- 13:12Chris: And I did not shoot this.
- 13:14Chris: You see the credit in the corner.
- 13:15Chris: But this does not accurately convey
- 13:18Chris: the scale of the amount of people that descended upon this
- 13:22Chris: because within 20 minutes of it opening at 1 o'clock,
- 13:26Chris: it was wall to wall.
- 13:28Chris: There was no, you could not see the ground.
- 13:31Chris: There were so many people there.
- 13:33Nora: That's crazy.
- 13:34Chris: They estimated at least 7,000 people attended the event
- 13:39Chris: and there were not specific lines for specific booths.
- 13:43Chris: It was just chaos.
- 13:45Chris: So I'm glad that I got there when I did.
- 13:48Chris: I got a little bit sunburned and we were only there
- 13:51Chris: for maybe 90 minutes or so.
- 13:53Mandy: (laughing)
- 13:54Mandy: You're an inside boy.
- 13:55Chris: I'm very much an inside boy.
- 13:57Chris: I really do.
- 13:58Chris: But it was a good time and got to try
- 14:00Chris: almost every pizza place, but only by sheer virtue
- 14:03Chris: of being there right when they opened
- 14:05Chris: because it was just madness.
- 14:06Chris: I saw stories online from people who said
- 14:09Chris: that they were there for hours and got like
- 14:13Chris: one or two slices of pizza, so very much lucked out.
- 14:16Mandy: This is all over Reddit now for people
- 14:18Mandy: who don't live here locally because it was
- 14:20Mandy: like mishandled so badly.
- 14:22Mandy: They wrote an apology letter.
- 14:23Mandy: Oh really?
- 14:24Mandy: Yeah, they did.
- 14:24Mandy: I should find that.
- 14:26Mandy: an official apology letter, they said that they were
- 14:28Mandy: only supposed to sell 4,000 tickets,
- 14:30Mandy: but they had lines and lines and lines everywhere,
- 14:33Mandy: and so they apologized for that.
- 14:35Nora: But their apologies
- 14:36Nora: We're sorry we made too much money.
- 14:39Nora: (laughing)
- 14:41Chris: To be transparent, this was a fundraiser for
- 14:44Chris: For good causes.
- 14:45Chris: Yeah, for all of the funds went to,
- 14:48Chris: I wanna say No Kid Hungry or Feeding America,
- 14:51Chris: one of those.
- 14:51Mandy: It's there, it's Slice Out Hunger,
- 14:53Mandy: Lotta Lotta, Food Rescue, Community Food Share.
- 14:56Mandy: That's awesome.
- 14:56Mandy: That's good, but apparently you could pay $60
- 15:01Mandy: and get an all you can eat pass,
- 15:03Mandy: and if you did that, they give you
- 15:04Mandy: tiny little slivers of pizza,
- 15:05Mandy: but if you paid out of your pocket,
- 15:07Mandy: you got a normal size.
- 15:08Chris: So here's my perspective on that,
- 15:11Chris: we have the statement from the festival up on the screen,
- 15:13Chris: but I paid for the all you can eat pass,
- 15:18Chris: Lynn did not, she just got the normal pass,
- 15:22Chris: and every booth that we went to,
- 15:24Chris: there was absolutely no delineation.
- 15:27Chris: Even though we had different colored wristbands,
- 15:29Chris: the places were just handing stuff out
- 15:30Chris: to everybody who walked up.
- 15:32Chris: There was one booth I saw that was taking any money,
- 15:35Chris: and of course their line ended up being the longest
- 15:38Chris: because of how much slower that made the process.
- 15:41Chris: But there was no like, oh, you have the all you can eat
- 15:44Chris: and you don't kind of a thing.
- 15:45Chris: It was just, I think if they want to simplify it
- 15:49Chris: a little bit for next year,
- 15:51Chris: I think it's just one ticket price gets you in
- 15:56Chris: and it's all you can eat.
- 15:57Chris: That way they don't have to worry about,
- 15:59Chris: well you paid money or you didn't,
- 16:01Chris: and everybody can be on the same page for that,
- 16:03Chris: 'cause that seemed to be a good chunk of the problem.
- 16:06Nora: Well and it also seems the problem was
- 16:08Nora: there were 4,000 people admitted
- 16:11Nora: within the first 45 minutes.
- 16:12Chris: Yeah, and-- - That's insane.
- 16:15Chris: A friend of mine who was also there,
- 16:17Chris: he got there at like maybe two o'clock,
- 16:19Chris: it opened at one and he was in line for close to an hour
- 16:22Chris: just to get in.
- 16:23Nora: That is a huge number of people there
- 16:25Mandy: in the first 45 minutes.
- 16:27Mandy: So my husband just texted me and he said,
- 16:30Mandy: what's naughty list is he on in the tabs?
- 16:33Mandy: So up there on the tabs, did you know what naughty list?
- 16:37Charles: Oh, Chris, you should click that,
- 16:39Nora: you should click that real quick.
- 16:41Chris: That's for the Twilight.
- 16:43Chris: Okay, okay.
- 16:43Nora: I texted and I was like, that's my link.
- 16:46Chris: Yeah, I was like, that's not me.
- 16:48Nora: That's me.
- 16:49Nora: It's a person you married.
- 16:51Chris: Those are in my private tabs.
- 16:54Chris: Incredible.
- 16:55Nora: That's amazing.
- 16:57Chris: But yeah, so the event just became much bigger
- 17:00Chris: than I think anyone expected and it showed.
- 17:02Chris: But it was the first year, they're gonna screw up.
- 17:05Chris: You're gonna, you know, you wanna make an omelet,
- 17:07Chris: you gotta break some eggs.
- 17:08Mandy: Would you go again?
- 17:10Mandy: I don't know.
- 17:11Chris: I would prefer to go if it's
- 17:15Mandy: You're wearing sunscreen?
- 17:16Chris: If I'm wearing sunscreen.
- 17:18Mandy: (laughing)
- 17:19Chris: And if things were a little bit better organized.
- 17:22Chris: But I took solace in the fact that it was for charity.
- 17:26Chris: So if I had only gotten one slice of pizza,
- 17:29Chris: that would have been a bummer.
- 17:30Chris: But I still would have felt the same way.
- 17:32Mandy: Well, you can make it better next year by volunteering.
- 17:35Mandy: They are asking for more volunteers for next year.
- 17:37Chris: I'm sure they are, and I wish them all the luck
- 17:39Chris: in the world with that.
- 17:40Chris: I will not be throwing my hat in that ring.
- 17:42Charles: Yeah, the cheese and chocolate festival is next year.
- 17:48Charles: weekend and I'm worried that the exact same thing
- 17:52Charles: is gonna happen because it's just like,
- 17:54Charles: it's just gonna be a madhouse.
- 17:56Charles: Too many people and too little cheese for Charles.
- 17:59Charles: And that is a problem.
- 18:02Nora: Big problem.
- 18:03Chris: Some of the comments on Reddit,
- 18:05Chris: the very first comment is,
- 18:06Chris: I guess there won't be any sort of apology.
- 18:08Mandy: Yeah, they never said we're sorry,
- 18:10Mandy: just we're listening and we'll do better.
- 18:11Chris: I mean, yeah.
- 18:12Mandy: You could say I'm sorry,
- 18:14Mandy: that we didn't meet your expectations.
- 18:15Chris: I will say that there was, while we were in line
- 18:18Chris: for one of the last places that we went to,
- 18:22Chris: someone did pass out from the heat.
- 18:26Chris: But I wouldn't necessarily put the blame on that
- 18:29Chris: for the festival because one,
- 18:30Chris: the water station was very close to us,
- 18:32Chris: and two, that guy was wearing all black from head to toe,
- 18:36Chris: heavy jeans, heavy shoes, a big thick shirt.
- 18:39Chris: Look, some of us are just soft.
- 18:41Chris: You know, I get it, but like, you know,
- 18:44Chris: Thankfully, Lynn's a nurse, so she went over and helped him
- 18:48Chris: until the EMTs showed up.
- 18:50Chris: But I don't place the blame on something like that
- 18:52Chris: for the organizers, because if you know you're gonna be out
- 18:55Chris: in the sun all day, then you should know enough
- 18:57Chris: to take those precautions.
- 18:59Nora: There is some element of personal responsibility there.
- 19:02Chris: Yeah.
- 19:04Mandy: I don't know, the Reddit threads are interesting.
- 19:06Mandy: Give them a read.
- 19:07Mandy: I get some other people's perspectives too.
- 19:09Nora: For sure.
- 19:09Nora: I'll have to check it out.
- 19:10Chris: I had a relatively pleasant experience,
- 19:12Chris: but I could absolutely understand if people weren't there
- 19:15Chris: right at the very beginning,
- 19:17Chris: that it probably was much less pleasant for them.
- 19:20Nora: Yeah, it seems like they either need to do
- 19:21Nora: some kind of timed entry or something.
- 19:24Chris: Something different for sure.
- 19:25Mandy: I heard the Taco Festival in Denver
- 19:27Mandy: does really well though, with a lot of people,
- 19:28Mandy: and deals with it really well.
- 19:30Nora: Yeah, there's definitely good events out there, for sure.
- 19:33Chris: So that was my weekend.
- 19:34Nora: Cool.
- 19:35Nora: Charles, I think you added something in.
- 19:37Charles: Do I, okay, do I tell this story first off?
- 19:41Charles: because we're trying to get somebody on this show and I feel like if we have this person see this
- 19:48Charles: story then I'll jinx it and they'll kind of not want to come enjoy our company. You know, screw
- 19:57Charles: it, screw it. We're done. So we have been, if you're familiar with the show, if you've been
- 20:04Charles: watching the show, we've got one of our characters that we've kind of fallen in love with is a
- 20:10Charles: musician called Evil Reverend Jim. His music is actually plays of the the start of the show leading up to it.
- 20:17Charles: I had a dream the other night where I got into a fistfight with Evil Reverend Jim
- 20:25Charles: after he came on the show.
- 20:30Charles: He... I'll do the whole story. So we invited him on. He said yes, I would love to.
- 20:37Charles: Super super
- 20:38Charles: Interested invested in doing this show we bring him on
- 20:42Charles: He does his set the set is great
- 20:45Charles: and then we sit down and do kind of like an interview like get to know Reverend Jim and
- 20:49Charles: I started asking him questions about like how long he's even doing music and he's like
- 20:55Charles: I've been doing music my entire life and I'm like that is a lie
- 21:03Charles: And he goes he goes into like
- 21:06Charles: You know, maybe he has been doing music his entire life
- 21:09Charles: But like the way that he comes off is very much like oh, I'm a professional musician
- 21:13Charles: I make all of my money doing this where it's very obvious that it's not in your dream in my dream, right?
- 21:20Charles: It's it's not necessarily the the situation
- 21:24Charles: He probably has other work that he does and I wanted to get to know the the real Reverend evil Reverend Jim
- 21:30Charles: Yeah, and it became more of like a Tommy Wiseau situation
- 21:34Charles: Where he was like, like, you know how Tommy Wiseau says that he's from like New Orleans
- 21:40Charles: He's from Louisiana, right where he's like, obviously from like
- 21:45Charles: Eastern Europe
- 21:46Charles: Transylvania
- 21:49Charles: Man's a vampire so it gets to the point where you know, I
- 21:54Charles: He asks me and says like hey, you must think that I'm weird and I'm like, well first off
- 22:01Charles: I don't like the connotation of weird being a bad thing. I think I think that having weirdness is
- 22:10Charles: Uniqueness it's in a lot of cases a spice of life. It's it's spice. You're right and I was and I told him I was like
- 22:17Charles: Hey, you know what? Like I?
- 22:19Charles: Don't think that that's a bad thing. Yes. I do consider you kind of a weird person. I consider myself a very weird person
- 22:27Chris: And then have you seen us? We're all very weird
- 22:30Chris: If you watch five minutes of this show, you will know that so and then after I kind of bring that up
- 22:36Charles: He gets like like physically like accosting me like and I was like Chris like turn off the show
- 22:42Charles: I have to go out into the the lobby and so you can fight reverend Jim. I have to fight reverend Jim
- 22:48Mandy: He told you he's evil from the get-go
- 22:53Charles: You know what you're absolutely you're absolutely right and it got to the point where I was like man you gotta go
- 22:59Charles: You gotta get out of here.
- 23:00Charles: There's a whole other business inside of this place.
- 23:03Charles: Like, we can't-- you gotta go.
- 23:07Charles: I'm also like three feet taller than you.
- 23:12Charles: In my dream, in my dream.
- 23:13Charles: I don't know how tall Reverend Jim is.
- 23:15Charles: Allegedly.
- 23:16Mandy: Reverend Jim was playing a wedding.
- 23:18Mandy: Look at that on the Instagram thing.
- 23:20Nora: He also has-- this isn't around the net,
- 23:23Nora: but he also has a show coming up at Avogadro's number.
- 23:26Nora: Oh!
- 23:28Nora: That would be fun.
- 23:29Nora: Actually practicing for the show.
- 23:31Charles: So long story short, I just had a dream.
- 23:33Charles: It was probably like anxiety of like me meeting
- 23:35Charles: like a famous person.
- 23:38Charles: Like a hero of Romania.
- 23:39Charles: (laughing)
- 23:40Charles: Don't meet your heroes, kids.
- 23:42Charles: So, but overall, I'm still really excited to meet Jim.
- 23:46Charles: I think that
- 23:49Chris: This is what Mandy pointed out on the screen here.
- 23:52Chris: Is Reverend Jim playing at a wedding recital?
- 23:55Nora: Did he officiate it?
- 23:56Nora: Oh my God.
- 23:57Nora: He officiated. - Oh my God.
- 23:59Chris: Okay, so here's my question.
- 24:01Chris: Is he a real reverend?
- 24:02Mandy: Probably. - I wonder now.
- 24:04Mandy: And is he really evil then?
- 24:05Charles: We have so many questions. - We have so many questions.
- 24:08Charles: I'm like legitimately excited to like interview.
- 24:11Charles: So Jim, please come on.
- 24:13Charles: And if you wanna get into a fist fight, I'm ready for it.
- 24:16Charles: I've already dreamed of this happening.
- 24:17Mandy: You have been watching enough videos
- 24:19Mandy: of people hitting children to be able to like box down.
- 24:22Charles: Right.
- 24:23Mandy: I do hit people in my dreams as well.
- 24:26Nora: But like, I hit them, they don't hit me.
- 24:28Mandy: Oh, I hit them, but they never land,
- 24:31Mandy: which is sad, 'cause I've done lots of martial arts.
- 24:34Mandy: (laughing)
- 24:34Mandy: My punch is not to like hurt, it's defeating.
- 24:37Nora: Brutal.
- 24:38Nora: (laughing)
- 24:39Chris: And with that
- 24:40Chris: Wait, is that why you carry firearms?
- 24:42Chris: 'Cause you're working with them?
- 24:43Chris: Yeah.
- 24:43Chris: 'Cause they just don't land?
- 24:44Nora: Absolutely.
- 24:46Nora: (laughing)
- 24:47Charles: And with that, folks,
- 24:48Charles: we're gonna move on to our next segment,
- 24:51Charles: the fantastic, the wonderful, Around the Net.
- 25:03Nora: All right, so since we've had two weeks
- 25:04Nora: to kind of pull some videos together,
- 25:06Nora: I think I have some really good ones here.
- 25:08Nora: So, first of all, I want to bring everyone's attention
- 25:12Nora: to the annual hat parade that happens at an art school.
- 25:15Nora: And I just wanna, you know, take some time
- 25:18Nora: to appreciate the artistry that goes into
- 25:21Nora: these college kids and their cardboard hats.
- 25:24Nora: I wanted to combine the two together to make a peony.
- 25:27Nora: Oh, this is so cool.
- 25:29Nora: It's just this like ultimate good luck combo.
- 25:31Video: Let's go big.
- 25:32Video: Let's go bold.
- 25:33Video: I have two wings here.
- 25:34Video: I have a third set on the floor that I'm working on.
- 25:36Video: If you actually went to the back,
- 25:37Video: you can see all of the crazy stuff
- 25:40Video: that I was putting into it.
- 25:42Video: So I really wanted to make this really big and gross,
- 25:44Video: kind of like hairy spider.
- 25:46Video: I was inspired by Cutlery's set at the Nelson.
- 25:49Video: Also do that.
- 25:50Video: And then he's going to have a fun little hat on.
- 25:51Nora: Yeah.
- 25:53Video: Look at the hyper-fixation I could get by helping them.
- 25:56Video: Made out of porcelain and gold, and it made me start to think about, like,
- 25:59Video: oh wow, they must have had so much money to be able to do that
- 26:03Video: all the way back in the 1600s.
- 26:05Nora: And I'm adding more supports because we're going to be outside for the parade.
- 26:07Nora: I'm not going to lie, it's a little heavy because I did this patiently pulled thing.
- 26:11Chris: Is that the, like, Illuminati symbol?
- 26:12Mandy: Wait, is this what we need to do for Augsgiving?
- 26:15Mandy: Right.
- 26:15Charles: Oh my god.
- 26:16Mandy: It's our Augsgiving float.
- 26:18Charles: I love
- 26:18Charles: Paper hat.
- 26:19Charles: We turn into our own parade of hats.
- 26:23Charles: I think that's a great idea.
- 26:25Nora: I'd be down.
- 26:26Nora: And I want to have some skulls like this,
- 26:28Nora: covering around it like that.
- 26:30Nora: This is kind of like, I guess, the concept of molting out
- 26:35Nora: of your skin.
- 26:35Nora: I really like the architectural aspects.
- 26:38Nora: There's actually teeth on this side.
- 26:40Nora: That's scary.
- 26:41Nora: So I'm wanting it to shimmer, kind of
- 26:43Mandy: Nothing says Augsgiving like that.
- 26:44Mandy: Scared me.
- 26:45Nora: I was walking back, woo, in the distance.
- 26:48Nora: And so I was like, it would be really cool if it was like in my arms.
- 26:51Nora: My arms are going to go through the wings and then it's going to connect onto my head.
- 26:55Video: A big cartoon dead fish.
- 26:58Video: I know.
- 26:58Video: And it's going to be all black and white and my face is going to be painted like a rainbow.
- 27:01Video: I just want him to look all happy and joyous.
- 27:04Video: And really try to work on the individual hairs here.
- 27:07Nora: It's kind of taking forever.
- 27:08Video: I have to wait for them to dry.
- 27:10Video: I wanted it to be expressive and I wanted like a bandage texture and like open moon kind of.
- 27:15Video: I'm better with paint and I do animation, so this is not my forte, but I figured...
- 27:21Chris: Funny, she's like, "I prefer to use real blood."
- 27:23Video: But the real blood is that wet tissue paper is very malleable and is able to get a cool,
- 27:29Video: kind of smooth texture.
- 27:31Video: I really like the concept of angels.
- 27:33Video: Swans already are like, well to me, they're kind of angelic themselves.
- 27:37Video: Completely different from how humans would picture angels to be.
- 27:41Video: Cherry was the first thought that came to mind.
- 27:44Nora: are like my favorite thing ever.
- 27:46Nora: I've just been kind of putting together a giant mouth.
- 27:48Nora: Like this rests on my shoulders and it bends up and down.
- 27:51Nora: So while I'm walking around in the parade,
- 27:53Nora: I can flip it and close the mouth.
- 27:55Video: The best way I can describe it is kind of like a bodysuit.
- 27:57Video: Really give this dramatic silhouette
- 28:00Video: of like an angel trumpet flower.
- 28:01Video: So then I was coming out with like,
- 28:03Video: ooh, hang things on there.
- 28:04Video: I kind of was like, ooh, this kind of looks
- 28:06Video: like a jellyfish.
- 28:07Video: We got to sign black and white.
- 28:09Video: There aren't very many black things in the ocean.
- 28:11Video: Except for pollution.
- 28:12Video: How do you know? - It was our first project
- 28:14Video: and we just got told to go crazy.
- 28:15Video: I'm doing a lot of patterns.
- 28:18Video: I want it to be like very visually engaging
- 28:20Video: when you see it in the parade.
- 28:21Video: They said you had to do some kind of combination of things
- 28:23Video: and I was like, can I just combine a bunch of humans?
- 28:27Video: (laughing)
- 28:29Chris: Incredible. - Yeah.
- 28:30Chris: So before we move on, I don't know when I'm gonna be able
- 28:32Chris: to tell my inappropriate parade story.
- 28:35Chris: So my very first job, I was 13
- 28:39Chris: and I was working as a dishwasher at a kitchen.
- 28:42Chris: that was in a sorority here in Fort Collins.
- 28:46Chris: And every year there's the CSU Homecoming,
- 28:52Chris: Colorado State University Homecoming,
- 28:54Chris: they have floats that the different fraternities
- 28:57Chris: and sororities design.
- 28:59Chris: The place that I worked at, this sorority,
- 29:03Chris: this was '97 or '98, somewhere in there.
- 29:08Chris: They decided that it would be a really good idea
- 29:12Chris: for their parade float to be of
- 29:16Chris: a man being dragged behind a truck.
- 29:21Mandy: Bat tracks.
- 29:24Chris: This was shortly after the incident
- 29:26Chris: with Matthew Shepard happened in Wyoming.
- 29:27Chris: Oh my God.
- 29:30Chris: And CSU was so dismayed by this
- 29:34Chris: that they shut down the sorority.
- 29:37Nora: Good. - Yeah.
- 29:38Charles: That is insane.
- 29:39Nora: Isn't that wild?
- 29:41Nora: I did remember hearing of that.
- 29:42Nora: Yeah.
- 29:44Nora: Since that one was a little longer than I expected,
- 29:46Nora: we're gonna skip the next one,
- 29:47Nora: 'cause that was just,
- 29:48Nora: I have another video of last year, their parade.
- 29:53Nora: This is the Kansas City Art Institute.
- 29:56Nora: So if you need, if you wanna follow them
- 29:58Nora: and see more parade content, hat parade content,
- 30:01Nora: that's where you go.
- 30:03Nora: So next, I have a video of some dogs and some magnets,
- 30:08Nora: These magnets are magic to pretty much everybody.
- 30:12Nora: Even physicists say that they're magic.
- 30:15Nora: So let's watch some dogs observe some magnets.
- 30:18Video: Mic up.
- 30:19Video: Ready?
- 30:24Chris: Oh!
- 30:25Chris: [LAUGHTER]
- 30:26Chris: Holy shit!
- 30:27Chris: Oh my god!
- 30:29Chris: If I tried this with the cats, it would blow their minds.
- 30:33Chris: Oh!
- 30:33Chris: Oh!
- 30:34Chris: Oh!
- 30:35Chris: Oh!
- 30:35Chris: Oh!
- 30:35Nora: Oh!
- 30:38Nora: Oh!
- 30:40Charles: You guys know...
- 30:41Charles: Shut up! Shut up! Shut up!
- 30:42Charles: Yes!
- 30:44Charles: Do it again!
- 30:46Nora: Crazy crazy!
- 30:47Nora: Oh no!
- 30:48Nora: Oh god!
- 30:50Nora: It's magic they don't like!
- 30:53Charles: Magnets are a threat.
- 30:54Charles: You know, I was just about to say, you guys know that song from ICP called Miracles?
- 31:00Charles: Yes!
- 31:00Charles: That line where they say magnets, how do they work?
- 31:02Charles: The dog is ICP in this situation.
- 31:06Charles: They're like, holy shit.
- 31:07Charles: What the fuck? - Violet J.
- 31:09Charles: Which one is Violet J, Charles?
- 31:11Charles: I mean, if you have to ask me that question,
- 31:14Charles: then you don't know.
- 31:15Charles: You should look at those two dogs
- 31:17Charles: and know which one's Violet J.
- 31:18Charles: Okay, fair enough.
- 31:21Nora: So I just appreciated how crazy they went.
- 31:23Chris: That was great.
- 31:24Nora: I have another adorable animal video, or set of videos.
- 31:28Nora: So right now it's the annual cow parades in the Alps,
- 31:31Nora: and it's called the Alp-Ap-Zook,
- 31:33Nora: and it's the Alpine Descent.
- 31:34Nora: And basically, every year in like April,
- 31:38Nora: the cows go up the mountain to go feed
- 31:40Nora: on all the highland grass.
- 31:42Nora: And then they come back down the mountain.
- 31:44Nora: And their shepherds put like bows and hats and flowers
- 31:48Nora: on them.
- 31:48Nora: So I just want to show you some of this awesome cow parade.
- 31:55Nora: Look at them.
- 31:56Nora: Look at the hats.
- 31:58Mandy: Once again, Augsgiving parade.
- 32:01Mandy: I have one more video.
- 32:02Chris: You want to organize that, Mandy?
- 32:04Mandy: We could do the poodle babies.
- 32:06Mandy: We could dress them up and make them walk around.
- 32:09Chris: That would be really cute, actually.
- 32:11Nora: I mean, I think they would eat their clothes.
- 32:12Mandy: Yeah, no, you're not wrong.
- 32:15Nora: One more video of our Alps-le-Psouk here.
- 32:16Nora: So just some more cows coming down the mountain.
- 32:22Charles: Oh my God.
- 32:23Charles: Isn't that beautiful?
- 32:26Nora: But like, they dress up all their cows.
- 32:27Nora: They put bells on them.
- 32:27Chris: This looks like a death march.
- 32:29Chris: Oh, look at the teeth.
- 32:30Nora: And the background, like look at that mountain
- 32:32Nora: that they're coming down.
- 32:33Chris: See, he knows what's going on.
- 32:34Chris: He's trying to escape.
- 32:35Nora: He says, "You got any treats for me?"
- 32:38Chris: He knows what's up.
- 32:39Nora: "You want, do you have some snacks?"
- 32:41Nora: This is an annual tradition in Switzerland,
- 32:44Nora: which is also why they have the Swiss flags.
- 32:46Nora: But I just think it's so cute.
- 32:48Charles: I mean, the Swiss don't have much going on in general.
- 32:51Charles: Right.
- 32:52Charles: They deserve this.
- 32:53Nora: For the love of cows.
- 32:54Charles: And for the love of cows. - I think it's a cry for help.
- 32:56Charles: (laughing)
- 32:57Nora: You think it's a cry for help?
- 32:58Nora: I think it's just perfect.
- 32:59Charles: I think it's delightful.
- 33:01Nora: Yeah.
- 33:01Charles: It's delightful, Chris.
- 33:03Nora: I only have a couple more. - Hater.
- 33:04Nora: This one is for Charles.
- 33:06Nora: This is Skyline Chili.
- 33:08Charles: Oh no.
- 33:09Charles: Sometimes you want fine dining
- 33:11Charles: and sometimes you just want Skyline Chili.
- 33:14Charles: Today I'm gonna check out their Skyway promotions
- 33:17Charles: running through March 1st, 2026.
- 33:20Chris: Letting your Alabama come out.
- 33:23Nora: He does this for a living.
- 33:25Charles: The Skyway promotion at Skyline Chili
- 33:27Charles: offers 50% more cheese on any regular
- 33:31Charles: for large three-way, four-way, or five-way
- 33:34Charles: at no extra cost.
- 33:35Mandy: Five-way, I could never.
- 33:37Chris: They're selling three-ways?
- 33:38Mandy: I could never, five-ways.
- 33:39Mandy: I'm just gonna keep watching it get better.
- 33:42Mandy: How is that legal?
- 33:43Mandy: I could never.
- 33:44Mandy: It gets better.
- 33:45Mandy: That's a lot of work.
- 33:48Charles: Do you see how excited I am?
- 33:51Charles: (laughing)
- 33:55Nora: Oh yeah, and they do their spaghetti chili.
- 34:00Charles: Oh my God.
- 34:07Charles: I'm sorry.
- 34:08Charles: I gotta say it.
- 34:09Charles: I gotta say it.
- 34:10Charles: This twink doesn't eat this.
- 34:12Nora: (laughing)
- 34:14Mandy: No, maybe they do.
- 34:15Mandy: They're just allergic to cheese and dairy.
- 34:18Mandy: He has a spit bucket.
- 34:20Mandy: (laughing)
- 34:23Mandy: Aw, thank you for sharing that, Norah.
- 34:24Charles: He does this for a living.
- 34:27Charles: Hi there, everyone.
- 34:29Charles: My name is
- 34:30Mandy: Gobble on chili.
- 34:31Charles: I'm gonna come up with a name.
- 34:33Charles: My name is, my name is, my name is
- 34:35Charles: Button. - Button?
- 34:37Charles: My full name is Button the Third.
- 34:41Charles: (laughing)
- 34:43Charles: I'm a married man and my wife
- 34:45Nora: (laughing)
- 34:47Nora: My wife and I are gonna go try it.
- 34:49Nora: Gobble on chili.
- 34:52Nora: Is that his chili place?
- 34:56Nora: No, he is a influencer and you can pay him
- 34:59Nora: to do those promos for your video.
- 35:01Chris: Incredible.
- 35:01Nora: How do we pay for our promos?
- 35:03Chris: Yeah, how much does he cost?
- 35:04Nora: I don't know, but like,
- 35:06Nora: that's pretty high production value if you ask me.
- 35:08Charles: I would agree.
- 35:09Charles: We need him to come to Colorado and be like,
- 35:11Charles: "Hi everybody, welcome to Loudspeaker."
- 35:14Chris: I'm sure he's got a green screen.
- 35:16Chris: We can totally make this happen.
- 35:20Nora: All right, two more.
- 35:21Chris: Also, I really want a chili dog now.
- 35:23Nora: I know.
- 35:23Nora: I might have to hit up Sonic.
- 35:24Chris: I don't know that I want three or five of them.
- 35:28Nora: Three way, four way, or a five way.
- 35:30Nora: Or a five way.
- 35:31Chris: Three way is kind of my max.
- 35:34Chris: Beyond that you start losing track of what belongs to what.
- 35:37Chris: Right, doesn't it just turn into an orgy?
- 35:38Chris: No, hold on.
- 35:39Chris: I think four is an orgy.
- 35:42Mandy: Olivia's pretty impressed with the cheese
- 35:44Mandy: in the comments.
- 35:45Charles: Disgusting.
- 35:46Chris: Okay, well Olivia, you can have the four way.
- 35:49Charles: When they say a three way and a four way,
- 35:51Charles: does that mean an extra hot dog, another chili dog?
- 35:55Mandy: So it's probably chili, cheese, onion is my guess.
- 35:58Mandy: Yeah, I think you're right.
- 35:59Mandy: Mustard, so mustard, chili, cheese, onion.
- 36:02Chris: They lost me at onion.
- 36:03Mandy: Yeah, I'll know.
- 36:04Chris: We know.
- 36:06Chris: We know.
- 36:07Mandy: (laughing)
- 36:09Mandy: Go sit in your saddle.
- 36:10Charles: Hey, actually, you know what?
- 36:11Charles: You know what?
- 36:12Charles: My onion-less existence.
- 36:14Charles: A few months ago, we made you some soup
- 36:20Charles: that as kind of like you were feeling down,
- 36:23Charles: I think it had to do with your mother passing,
- 36:26Charles: if I'm not mistaken, there was onion,
- 36:30Charles: there's so much onion in that soup.
- 36:32Charles: Did you actually eat the soup that we made?
- 36:38Nora: No, he didn't.
- 36:39Nora: Oh no.
- 36:41Nora: No, I did actually eat some of the soup.
- 36:43Nora: I did. - Some.
- 36:45Nora: Some.
- 36:47Chris: Not all of it.
- 36:48Chris: Not all of it.
- 36:49Mandy: Look, I'm a good enough friend
- 36:51Mandy: that when I know I'm bringing something specifically for him,
- 36:54Mandy: I don't include onion.
- 36:56Chris: Yeah, Mandy once made stuffing with a tiny chunk
- 37:00Chris: that had all of the onions removed,
- 37:02Chris: but everything around it had onions.
- 37:06Chris: It was pretty impressive, and she's like,
- 37:07Chris: "No, no, no, that piece is for Chris."
- 37:10Chris: I mean, she didn't say Chris, she said the actor,
- 37:12Chris: 'cause she refuses to use my first name,
- 37:14Chris: but she's like, "Nobody can eat that part.
- 37:17Chris: "That's just for him."
- 37:19Charles: That's true, that's true love.
- 37:21Nora: And she did make a whole lot of extra potatoes this year.
- 37:24Mandy: Yeah, it's somebody who understands not liking foods. Yeah a little too well, but
- 37:30Mandy: Chris you're wrong on the onions. Yeah, it's true.
- 37:34Chris: So wrong. Real wrong. Is it time for me to walk off the show again?
- 37:39Charles: I haven't pushed buttons in a while. I think we try to find Chris an onion that he likes
- 37:46Charles: Like a French onion soup?
- 37:48Charles: (dramatic music)
- 37:58Chris: Onions are the fucking worst.
- 38:01Chris: (laughing)
- 38:02Chris: That's it.
- 38:04Charles: You're wrong.
- 38:05Nora: You're wrong.
- 38:06Charles: It's okay to be wrong sometimes.
- 38:07Nora: Exactly wrong.
- 38:12Charles: All right, keep going.
- 38:13Nora: I have a couple more.
- 38:14Nora: So this video is a very Nora video, which I think it'll
- 38:19Nora: make sense when we watch it.
- 38:22Video: -And now is day 385 of me and Dusty screaming
- 38:28Video: at a can of soup.
- 38:30Video: Ready to bring up some bird rage, Dusty?
- 38:32Chris: -What the fuck?
- 38:33Video: -Ready to give some bird rage?
- 38:34Video: I'll scream first.
- 38:35Video: Ah!
- 38:36Video: Now you give the bird rage.
- 38:38Video: Yeah, give the bird rage.
- 38:41Video: Yeah, bird it.
- 38:42Video: Burn rage!
- 38:44Video: Burn rage!
- 38:46Video: All right.
- 38:47Video: And that was us screaming at Canvas Shoot.
- 38:49Video: It's because it has a U in it.
- 38:51Video: Day 385.
- 38:52Chris: Oh, OK.
- 38:52Chris: OK.
- 38:53Chris: Then I get it.
- 38:55Nora: That's just a very me video.
- 38:58Charles: That was a delightful you video.
- 38:59Nora: I know, right?
- 39:00Charles: But it was.
- 39:01Charles: I was expecting more of like a loud, like more obnoxious,
- 39:04Nora: ah!
- 39:05Charles: But no, it was like a, ah!
- 39:07Nora: And it's little mouth opening to scream.
- 39:10Nora: Very cute.
- 39:12Nora: All right.
- 39:12Nora: So this is what I've kind of been hinting at.
- 39:14Nora: Evil Reverend Jim has an event coming up,
- 39:16Nora: and I think we should all go.
- 39:18Chris: I love that even though he hasn't appeared on the show yet,
- 39:21Chris: he is slowly taking over the show.
- 39:23Chris: (laughing)
- 39:25Mandy: Hyper fixation, we're all guilty of it.
- 39:27Video: Stop this right now!
- 39:28Video: The hell's wrong with you two?
- 39:30Video: Christ on a crutch!
- 39:31Mandy: Is this like your dream, Charles?
- 39:33Video: Never in all my years as ringmaster
- 39:35Video: have I seen so much horse shit in my circus.
- 39:38Video: Fighting, name calling, freak shaming.
- 39:42Video: What the hell's wrong with you two?
- 39:44Video: He started it!
- 39:47Video: I don't care who started it.
- 39:48Video: At this point we need to stick together.
- 39:50Video: Incredible, thank you.
- 39:52Nora: So they're actively practicing
- 39:55Nora: for a show
- 39:56Nora: that is called
- 39:58Nora: uh, hold on let me find it.
- 40:00Nora: It's called the Foucault Variety Show.
- 40:02Nora: And it's at 7pm
- 40:04Nora: last Sunday of September.
- 40:05Nora: And it's up here at Avos.
- 40:08Nora: And I think we should all go.
- 40:10Charles: We have to we have to go and we also have to like pull them aside and be like hey look like we love
- 40:16Mandy: You we all have matching loudspeaker shirts. We can wear so that we get we have this in a group three weeks
- 40:23Charles: Yeah, we're going at a minimum you and I are going yeah, we're going
- 40:27Nora: So we're gonna go see the Reverend Jim
- 40:29Nora: So his variety show because I think he's the ringmaster of the variety show
- 40:33Chris: I mean, I'm confused then cuz like this is not mentioned on his Instagram. I don't think that he's great
- 40:40Chris: at marketing himself.
- 40:41Nora: There's other people who do his marketing for him.
- 40:43Chris: Well, considering that says this account
- 40:45Chris: is run by his friends and they're like,
- 40:48Chris: we'll show this to Jim, you know, kind of a thing.
- 40:50Nora: Which is why we need to go and talk to him.
- 40:52Chris: And it says DM for the Rev's contact info
- 40:55Chris: and they actually didn't give me his contact info.
- 40:58Chris: I'm starting to wonder if he actually exists.
- 41:01Chris: He's real.
- 41:02Nora: That last video seemed pretty real right there.
- 41:04Chris: Yeah, see, I think Manny's onto something.
- 41:06Chris: I think it could be AI.
- 41:09Nora: Don't talk about my friend like that.
- 41:09Mandy: Well, you won't know unless they come on the show.
- 41:12Mandy: That's right.
- 41:12Mandy: Don't talk about my friend like that.
- 41:13Charles: Yeah. - Jim.
- 41:15Charles: Best buds.
- 41:16Nora: My friend, evil Reverend Jim,
- 41:18Nora: who punches Charles for fun.
- 41:20Nora: We'll watch that.
- 41:22Nora: That's my kind of guy.
- 41:23Chris: Honestly, I'll watch anyone punch Charles.
- 41:25Chris: Yeah, those are my videos for today.
- 41:27Mandy: (laughing)
- 41:27Mandy: All you have to do is get me to punch,
- 41:28Mandy: 'cause apparently they don't hurt.
- 41:32Charles: All right, Mandy, you brought some stuff.
- 41:33Charles: Good man, you'll just be swinging at the air.
- 41:34Mandy: I know.
- 41:35Mandy: So I've been learning a lot about how to work on your house.
- 41:40Mandy: So the husband can't do like manual labor anymore.
- 41:42Mandy: So I'm trying to learn like how to do some house repair stuff online.
- 41:48Video: All right. Pay attention.
- 41:50Video: Yes. Firebox using foam.
- 41:53Video: You want to make sure and shake this up good.
- 41:56Video: Oh, look, whatever you do, don't get it all over and make a mess.
- 42:00Video: I want you to foam any holes that go through the double play.
- 42:03Video: That way if there's a fire it's a lot harder for air to get in the stud bed.
- 42:06Nora: It blocks the fire.
- 42:07Nora: Yep, no fire.
- 42:08Video: Same thing at all the corners. Just seal it up good.
- 42:11Video: You don't need to use a lot of foam. It expands.
- 42:15Video: Also, foam around any exterior receptacles like this one.
- 42:18Video: It'll keep air from coming in.
- 42:20Video: I'll be back in a half hour or so to check up on you.
- 42:24Video: Oh.
- 42:25Video: Yay!
- 42:28Nora: Yay!
- 42:29Nora: Look at how bad of a job he's doing.
- 42:32Video: I love it.
- 42:34Video: I better check in and see how it's going.
- 42:37Video: Dude, what did you do?
- 42:39Video: Oh no, it's all over the place.
- 42:41Video: What did you do?
- 42:42Video: I hope you're going to clean all this up.
- 42:45Nora: He doesn't look like he's going to clean it up.
- 42:50Chris: That's fantastic.
- 42:51Charles: I'm sorry, he did a great job.
- 42:52Nora: It's time for him to clock out actually.
- 42:54Charles: Yeah, exactly.
- 42:55Charles: It's on union hours.
- 42:57Mandy: I'm going to make you watch two more because, yes.
- 43:01Mandy: Yep.
- 43:01Mandy: I'm going to make you watch two more because, yes.
- 43:01Mandy: I'll watch more.
- 43:02Video: I hired this new guy at work about six months ago, and every single day he keeps asking
- 43:06Video: me, "When you gonna get me a company truck?"
- 43:09Video: Now to be fair, I did tell him when he first started, if things went well and he did a
- 43:13Video: good job, I would think about getting him a truck.
- 43:15Video: But to be honest, he's had a lot of accidents.
- 43:18Video: Within the first couple weeks after I hired him, he backed into my truck with a skid steer,
- 43:23Video: and then he plowed into a bunch of duck work with a scissor lift.
- 43:26Video: Don't get me wrong, he's a good guy, but he's always in a hurry and he doesn't really listen.
- 43:31Video: So today I finally told him.
- 43:33Video: I said, dude, I'm going to do my best
- 43:34Video: to get you a set of wheels.
- 43:36Video: Now I'm not paying for a brand new $80,000 diesel pickup,
- 43:39Video: but let me see what I can put together for you.
- 43:41Video: Between me and you, I'm a little nervous
- 43:43Video: about putting him on my insurance.
- 43:45Video: So I figured maybe I could come up
- 43:46Video: with something a little different.
- 43:48Video: As soon as I dropped it off,
- 43:49Video: I could tell he was really excited about it.
- 43:52Video: I told him just take it easy.
- 43:53Video: It's a brand new vehicle.
- 43:54Video: Oh my God.
- 43:56Video: Let's just say I was glad he was wearing his helmet.
- 44:00Mandy: (engine roaring)
- 44:00Mandy: Ryan!
- 44:01Mandy: Oh no!
- 44:03Charles: That wasn't the real one.
- 44:04Mandy: There's a follow up video.
- 44:05Mandy: Okay.
- 44:06Mandy: He's dead.
- 44:08Charles: I saw it.
- 44:09Charles: I saw what it actually was.
- 44:11Nora: I didn't see it.
- 44:11Nora: No you didn't.
- 44:12Video: Yes.
- 44:13Video: It's been a hard week for all of us at houseplants.
- 44:15Video: Oh my God.
- 44:16Video: We got in a bad accident.
- 44:18Video: Unfortunately, he was driving a new truck I'd given him.
- 44:20Video: It's not the real dog.
- 44:22Video: It's a little stomach.
- 44:22Video: Not only did he break his tailbone,
- 44:24Video: but he went into a deep coma.
- 44:26Video: Right away, the doctor started pumping him
- 44:28Video: full of antibiotics and Mountain Dew.
- 44:30Video: keeping an eye on his vital signs.
- 44:32Video: To be honest, I felt super guilty
- 44:34Video: for giving him such a powerful vehicle.
- 44:36Video: As I sat there watching him,
- 44:38Video: the whole thing went through my mind.
- 44:40Video: I had felt completely hopeless,
- 44:42Video: just waiting for the ambulance to show up.
- 44:45Video: But then out of nowhere,
- 44:47Video: he snapped out of his coma and woke up.
- 44:49Video: He surprised us all the next day by stopping by our house.
- 44:52Video: The doctors had him use these wheels as an extra precaution.
- 44:55Video: He even asked to drive the forklift,
- 44:57Video: but I said, "That's probably not the best idea."
- 45:00Video: He didn't think it would be long at all before he could come back to work and do the things he loves to do.
- 45:04Video: Scrolling on his phone, wasting time in the Porta John, and pounding energy drinks while eating his favorite gas station burritos.
- 45:11Mandy: Look, I can do all of those last things by myself. I can scroll, I can waste time in the bathroom, I can eat a burrito.
- 45:19Nora: Those are my favorite ones.
- 45:20Chris: You should really not eat a gas station burrito, Mandy.
- 45:23Nora: >> There are some good gas station burritos
- 45:26Nora: that get their burritos from a good little burrito spot,
- 45:31Nora: you know, and just vend them for the actual burrito makers.
- 45:34Mandy: >> So this is my last one, and this is one of the only
- 45:37Mandy: like, I don't generally laugh out loud at things,
- 45:39Mandy: and I did this time.
- 45:41Mandy: (gentle music)
- 45:47Mandy: (all laughing)
- 45:51Charles: That's very good.
- 45:52Charles: (laughing)
- 45:56Charles: I've got some videos.
- 45:57Nora: All right, what do you got for us?
- 45:58Charles: So first off, we've had a new lore drop
- 46:02Charles: of catchphrase guy.
- 46:03Mandy: No!
- 46:05Charles: This is a big, this is a big one.
- 46:07Charles: Yes!
- 46:07Mandy: No!
- 46:07Mandy: Yes!
- 46:09Mandy: (dramatic music)
- 46:10Charles: No, no!
- 46:13Charles: Hater.
- 46:17Charles: Last time.
- 46:18Charles: We refuse, Mandy.
- 46:20Mandy: Oh, if we both storm out of here,
- 46:22Mandy: if we both storm out of here, there's no show.
- 46:24Chris: Exactly. - There's no show.
- 46:25Chris: You can't kill all of us, Charles.
- 46:27Charles: But I think...
- 46:29Charles: I think you guys can just shut the fuck up.
- 46:34Nora: That we are just gonna watch some catchphrase, guys.
- 46:36Nora: So Chris, play the video.
- 46:37Charles: Why don't you come in here and make me push the button?
- 46:39Nora: Let me just...
- 46:41Chris: Mandy will shoot you.
- 46:43Chris: (laughing)
- 46:44Charles: I am armed.
- 46:44Charles: Children, children, stop fighting.
- 46:47Charles: Jim, stop fighting me.
- 46:50Charles: So last time that we had a lore drop, what was the lore drop?
- 46:54Charles: He was actually Australian.
- 46:56Charles: Right?
- 46:57Charles: So he's Australian.
- 46:58Charles: And I actually don't care.
- 47:00Charles: That's huge.
- 47:01Charles: That's crazy.
- 47:02Charles: This time
- 47:03Charles: There's lots of criminals in Australia.
- 47:06Charles: What if I told you there's a miscatch phrase guy?
- 47:11Nora: Yeah, there is.
- 47:13Chris: He tells far too many dad jokes to be single.
- 47:15Chris: I guess with your cameo money, he had enough to hire a hooker.
- 47:17Charles: No, he's married.
- 47:20Charles: to a hooker.
- 47:20Charles: Oh my God.
- 47:21Mandy: I bet his spouse hates themselves.
- 47:24Charles: Okay, let's watch the video
- 47:25Charles: and you can tell if she likes it or not.
- 47:29Charles: I'm the guy that makes those popular catchphrases.
- 47:31Video: And here's my Wi-Fi waifu with some catchphrases.
- 47:35Video: Off the table, Mabel.
- 47:37Video: No.
- 47:37Video: Hold on to your hat, wombat.
- 47:39Video: Keep your bra on, Deborah.
- 47:41Chris: There's terror in her eyes.
- 47:44Nora: No, she's enjoying it.
- 47:45Chris: I think he's holding a gun to her, behind her back.
- 47:49Nora: I have guns in Australia.
- 47:51Chris: A boomerang then.
- 47:53Chris: (laughing)
- 47:54Video: I say no, Pistachio.
- 47:56Video: Off your truck, teapot.
- 47:58Video: Loungin' with the ladies.
- 48:01Video: (laughing)
- 48:01Video: Catch phrases as much as you like.
- 48:03Video: Catch phrases are for everyone,
- 48:05Video: and it's okay 'cause I'm just a regular gal.
- 48:07Video: Ay.
- 48:08Video: (gentle music)
- 48:10Mandy: Ay.
- 48:10Mandy: Maybe prove that there's someone out there for anyone.
- 48:13Mandy: (laughing)
- 48:14Chris: You guys missed it.
- 48:14Mandy: Can I go now?
- 48:15Chris: She's like, can I go?
- 48:17Nora: (laughing)
- 48:18Nora: (laughing)
- 48:19Chris: You might think this is a little bit harsh,
- 48:24Chris: but wouldn't it be okay if they both just got hit by a bus?
- 48:28Nora: You guys are, this is crazy!
- 48:30Nora: Horrible.
- 48:31Nora: That is horrible.
- 48:33Nora: I think it's a joke at this point.
- 48:35Chris: I don't think
- 48:35Chris: Oh, you're right, it's not a joke.
- 48:36Chris: I don't, it is
- 48:38Nora: I think that your hate for Catchphrase Guy is like,
- 48:43Nora: I don't know, it's so manufactured for the bit.
- 48:46Nora: Yeah.
- 48:47Nora: It really isn't. - It's so forced.
- 48:49Nora: It really isn't.
- 48:50Chris: Few things would give me more joy

- 1:06:31Mandy: I ate a bite and then got scared
- 1:06:33Mandy: that maybe I would accidentally be killing myself,
- 1:06:34Mandy: so I stopped.
- 1:06:35Chris: Oh yeah.
- 1:06:36Mandy: Well, I don't think there's any mango in it, so.
- 1:06:39Mandy: (laughing)
- 1:06:40Mandy: I mean, mango's not my only nemesis.
- 1:06:42Mandy: I know. - There are many.
- 1:06:43Mandy: You have nemes, nem, nem, nem, nemesai?
- 1:06:46Mandy: Nemesis.
- 1:06:47Mandy: Nemesis. - Nemesis.
- 1:06:49Mandy: Nemesis talking.
- 1:06:50Chris: Wonders Nemesis to amaze,
- 1:06:52Chris: because for our next item and final item,
- 1:06:56Chris: we have fried chicken ice cream.
- 1:07:01Chris: I'm not exactly sure what that entails, but here it is.
- 1:07:05Nora: On the back it says vanilla ice cream
- 1:07:06Nora: to chocolate bone, three crunchy crumble.
- 1:07:09Charles: Oh, so it's just like shaped like it.
- 1:07:12Nora: This is a product of China.
- 1:07:16Nora: It does have
- 1:07:17Charles: Look, it's adorable.
- 1:07:19Charles: Oh my God, it's so cute.
- 1:07:22Charles: Oh my God.
- 1:07:23Mandy: Like a chicken nuggy.
- 1:07:25Charles: This is very cute.
- 1:07:28Charles: There we go.
- 1:07:28Charles: What do you want out of this?
- 1:07:30Chris: I want some, I want it to taste like,
- 1:07:35Chris: what's that chicken, shake and bake.
- 1:07:37Chris: I want it to taste like shake and bake.
- 1:07:38Charles: I want it to have, so I know,
- 1:07:41Charles: we know that it's gonna be just like ice cream.
- 1:07:43Charles: Yeah.
- 1:07:43Charles: Right, it's not gonna have any flavor to it,
- 1:07:45Charles: like chicken flavor.
- 1:07:46Charles: I want a little bit of crunch though.
- 1:07:48Charles: I want this to have like a good crunch.
- 1:07:50Charles: I want some crunch to this.
- 1:07:52Charles: And I feel like I'm gonna be let down.
- 1:07:55Charles: I'm gonna eat from the bone, the bone side.
- 1:07:59Chris: As you do.
- 1:08:02Chris: (mimics chicken clucking)
- 1:08:04Chris: Okay, I think there's a little bit of crunch here.
- 1:08:08Chris: Not very much.
- 1:08:10Chris: I was kind of hoping for like that cornflake chicken
- 1:08:13Chris: like sort of crust.
- 1:08:15Mandy: Right. - Which they would've done.
- 1:08:16Chris: Yeah, they absolutely could've done.
- 1:08:18Chris: So I think it would be better if it were that.
- 1:08:20Chris: but other than that, it's just like vanilla ice cream.
- 1:08:23Chris: Yeah, that's
- 1:08:24Chris: Which for the record, Mandy is not eating
- 1:08:26Chris: because she abhors ice cream.
- 1:08:27Chris: She has generational ice cream trauma.
- 1:08:31Chris: I don't like it.
- 1:08:32Mandy: You don't?
- 1:08:34Mandy: Okay, can you explain why?
- 1:08:35Charles: Yeah.
- 1:08:38Mandy: I mean, other than the fact that it's ice cream
- 1:08:39Mandy: and ice cream is disgusting and ew,
- 1:08:41Mandy: how are you eating that?
- 1:08:43Nora: It has like a caramel outside.
- 1:08:46Charles: The outside texture wise is like wet coconut flakes.
- 1:08:52Mandy: Ooh, okay.
- 1:08:54Charles: It's like, has like, you know, coconut flakes
- 1:08:58Charles: have that like kind of slightly crunchy texture to it.
- 1:09:01Charles: Yeah.
- 1:09:02Charles: It's like, that's been sitting out for a while.
- 1:09:04Charles: It's not, it's like almost crunchy.
- 1:09:07Mandy: Yeah, but it's not crunchy enough.
- 1:09:08Mandy: It kind of absorbs some of the moisture.
- 1:09:10Mandy: Yeah. - Okay.
- 1:09:12Chris: 'Cause the funny thing is the outside crust or whatever,
- 1:09:16Chris: is kind of shake and bakey, but you're right.
- 1:09:19Chris: It feels like it's kind of sat
- 1:09:21Chris: and has absorbed the moisture and is just kind of softer.
- 1:09:25Chris: So it's crunchy and soggy at the same time.
- 1:09:28Nora: Yeah, it is kinda.
- 1:09:29Chris: I don't like that.
- 1:09:31Nora: That's what I expect out of something
- 1:09:32Nora: that comes, that would be on like an ice cream truck.
- 1:09:34Mandy: I mean, I feel like drumsticks,
- 1:09:36Mandy: you know, those drumsticks, ice cream cones,
- 1:09:39Mandy: like the ice cream cone is also kind of soggy like that too.
- 1:09:41Mandy: I think it's just maybe the nature of the product.
- 1:09:44Chris: Also, the, whatever vanilla ice cream they use for this
- 1:09:48Chris: is not particularly high quality vanilla.
- 1:09:51Charles: No, no, it's like, it's like a,
- 1:09:53Charles: it's like overly frozen, you know,
- 1:09:55Charles: like when you refreeze ice cream or something like that.
- 1:09:58Chris: Like freezer Bernie.
- 1:09:59Chris: Kind of freezer Bernie, yeah.
- 1:10:01Chris: But also like, just like lacking in flavor.
- 1:10:05Mandy: Well, I'm disappointed that I wasn't able to try it.
- 1:10:07Chris: I'm sure, I'm sure the sadness in your heart is,
- 1:10:12Mandy: it knows no bounds.
- 1:10:13Mandy: Yep, so disappointed.
- 1:10:16Charles: However, the chicken and waffle Oreos fuck hard.
- 1:10:19Charles: Really?
- 1:10:20Charles: Yeah, they're so good.
- 1:10:21Charles: I like 'em.
- 1:10:23Charles: Like legitimately, these are delightful.
- 1:10:27Mandy: Man, I wish the intern was here
- 1:10:28Mandy: so I could make him eat it.
- 1:10:30Mandy: I'm trying to get to the chocolate bomb.
- 1:10:32Chris: As revenge for him taking glee in your incident.
- 1:10:38Mandy: The incident.
- 1:10:39Chris: Right, we'll just refer to it
- 1:10:40Chris: as the incident from now on.
- 1:10:44Mandy: So next.
- 1:10:44Chris: Yeah, I'm a big fan of these Oreos.
- 1:10:46Mandy: Man, they reek.
- 1:10:47Mandy: They reek something awful.
- 1:10:48Mandy: They do stink.
- 1:10:49Chris: They have a very, very strong
- 1:10:51Chris: Maple-y smell.
- 1:10:52Chris: Very maple-y.
- 1:10:52Mandy: Yeah, very box of some sort of cereal that I can't place.
- 1:10:58Mandy: Smacks, pops, something.
- 1:11:00Chris: Yeah, I could see that.
- 1:11:04Charles: Hell yeah, snacks.
- 1:11:05Charles: Thanks, Chris.
- 1:11:07Charles: Yeah.
- 1:11:07Charles: We're all just delightfully just chomping down
- 1:11:10Charles: on some snacks, which is just,
- 1:11:12Chris: We'll just sit here and talk for the rest of the show.
- 1:11:16Charles: What'd you guys think of Twilight?
- 1:11:20Nora: It was awful.
- 1:11:20Chris: I'm gonna start off with my hot take.
- 1:11:23Chris: Maybe a surprise for those who know me.
- 1:11:26Chris: I didn't hate it.
- 1:11:29Mandy: No, really?
- 1:11:31Chris: I really didn't, I didn't hate it.
- 1:11:32Chris: I expected to absolutely despise it.
- 1:11:36Chris: And I was like, okay, yeah, this is bad.
- 1:11:38Chris: Like it's not a well-made movie
- 1:11:40Chris: and it's not the most engrossing story.
- 1:11:44Charles: It's so fun.
- 1:11:44Chris: I have certainly seen worse movies.
- 1:11:46Charles: Yeah, it's a fun watch because of how silly it is.
- 1:11:51Mandy: Yeah, the husband said that he made the point,
- 1:11:53Mandy: he's like, "It's camp, and why can't you get behind camp?"
- 1:11:56Mandy: Like, of course, you can always get behind camp.
- 1:11:58Chris: Right.
- 1:12:00Chris: I should point out it's actual camp, not fake camp.
- 1:12:05Chris: So.
- 1:12:06Nora: I thought it was a terrible movie,
- 1:12:08Nora: but it was really fun and I get it now.
- 1:12:11Charles: I don't think you know terrible movies.
- 1:12:13Nora: I just didn't think it was a good movie.
- 1:12:14Nora: Well, it's not a good movie.
- 1:12:15Chris: Wait, here's the easy barometer.
- 1:12:18Chris: Nora, have you seen "The Room"?
- 1:12:21Nora: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:12:21Chris: Would you place that as a terrible movie?
- 1:12:23Nora: That's the worst, yeah.
- 1:12:25Chris: Was it worse than "Twilight"?
- 1:12:27Nora: No, well, "The Room" was worse than "Twilight".
- 1:12:28Nora: "Twilight" is not worse than "The Room".
- 1:12:29Chris: Okay, no, I think she's properly calibrated.
- 1:12:32Chris: Okay.
- 1:12:33Nora: It's just not a good movie.
- 1:12:35Charles: It's not a good movie, no, it's not.
- 1:12:37Charles: I mean like it was made for like on a like like in Hollywood kind of a shoestring budget like
- 1:12:46Nora: It has the same color as Magic Mike
- 1:12:50Nora: like the same like
- 1:12:52Nora: sepia tones
- 1:12:53Nora: Have you seen Magic Mike in the end but in between where it's all like sepia toned and like trying to be an art film
- 1:12:58Nora: Like it feels similar vibes in that sense from the cinematography sense
- 1:13:03Chris: I mean, I do think it's interesting that it was,
- 1:13:07Chris: I mean, it has a $37 million budget,
- 1:13:09Chris: which by today's standards is very, very little,
- 1:13:12Chris: but they also chose Katharine Hardwicke as the director
- 1:13:15Chris: and she's made like serious movies.
- 1:13:17Chris: And so I thought that that was not necessarily
- 1:13:20Chris: maybe the best choice for something that is this silly.
- 1:13:23Charles: When has she directed before?
- 1:13:24Charles: 13, oh my gosh.
- 1:13:26Chris: Yeah, she made 13,
- 1:13:27Chris: which is like one of the darkest films ever made.
- 1:13:31Chris: So I don't know, it's interesting.
- 1:13:33Chris: Like Lords of Dogtown is pretty dark.
- 1:13:35Chris: I mean, she worked on Don't Worry Darling,
- 1:13:38Chris: which is not exactly a crowd pleaser.
- 1:13:40Charles: Prisoner's Daughter, man.
- 1:13:44Chris: But that being said, I thought the soundtrack was great.
- 1:13:47Chris: Like the songs that they had in there.
- 1:13:49Chris: Like soundtrack fucks pretty hard.
- 1:13:53Chris: My biggest criticism is not of the story
- 1:13:58Chris: or the way it was shot.
- 1:14:00Chris: It was the fact that, I don't know whether it was her choice
- 1:14:03Chris: or the directors or some combination of the two,
- 1:14:07Chris: but in every single shot, in every single scene,
- 1:14:11Chris: Kristen Stewart has the exact same facial display,
- 1:14:17Chris: which is...
- 1:14:19Nora: Or this one.
- 1:14:24Charles: She does not know how to close her mouth in the movie.
- 1:14:28Charles: She's constantly like
- 1:14:31Nora: My first note here was meeting Edward.
- 1:14:34Nora: The mouth thing?
- 1:14:36Nora: The mouth thing?
- 1:14:38Charles: So my
- 1:14:39Nora: The mouth acting was too much.
- 1:14:41Charles: So about meeting Edward
- 1:14:43Chris: Wait a second.
- 1:14:44Chris: We actually have that shot cued up.
- 1:14:56Charles: And I'm going to read my quote from that scene.
- 1:15:01Charles: This bitch stanks.
- 1:15:03Charles: [LAUGHTER]
- 1:15:07Video: I'm the world's most dangerous predator.
- 1:15:11Video: Everything about me invites you in.
- 1:15:13Mandy: Her mouth is open again.
- 1:15:14Mandy: My voice
- 1:15:15Mandy: Yeah.
- 1:15:15Mandy: Every single shot.
- 1:15:17Charles: Even my smell.
- 1:15:19Mandy: I think it's a drinking game.
- 1:15:21Mandy: Mouth is open.
- 1:15:22Charles: Wait, this is not the first movie, right?
- 1:15:23Mandy: No, now we're skipping ahead.
- 1:15:25Chris: We're skipping ahead now.
- 1:15:25Chris: So this might be the whole spoilers
- 1:15:29Mandy: Spoilers someone takes their shirt off. No, I had a I had something to bring at the good video to bring
- 1:15:37Charles: Okay, I loved okay so things that I love about a 20 year old movie right exactly
- 1:15:45Charles: My question to you all is do we think that Edward can't read Bella's mind because she's fucking stupid
- 1:15:55Charles: Nothing's happening in that brain of hers
- 1:16:01Chris: Also like it's like that meme of like nope no intelligent life anywhere
- 1:16:06Charles: Also when she moves to town, how the fuck does everyone know everything about her?
- 1:16:10Charles: Right, they're like hi. Your name is Isabella and your social security number is this
- 1:16:15Mandy: Drove through Forks last summer and it is the size of like a one Street
- 1:16:20Mandy: Yeah, so I wouldn't you know, I wouldn't disbelieve that that would be the case that high school is really big for the size of
- 1:16:29Charles: You've got a little you got a little
- 1:16:32Nora: Thank you. Got a little a little chicken. She was chicken schmutz the chicken the chocolate bone was disappointing
- 1:16:38Chris: I wrote in in my notes. I wrote Bella's palsy
- 1:16:45Chris: Bella's also, why does she live in Twin Peaks?
- 1:16:50Charles: You know what that's a good thing like people are just weird in that town
- 1:16:55Charles: For seemingly no reason and they're all like super nice to her and she's always like
- 1:17:03Charles: I hate that everyone is just likes me
- 1:17:08Charles: Why does everyone love me so much?
- 1:17:17Nora: None of the Cullens who attend that high school look like high schoolers. Nobody looks like a high schooler
- 1:17:23Chris: Are at least 35
- 1:17:26Chris: It's like watching 90210 again, right?
- 1:17:28Nora: But like some of the other kids in this like I mean Anna Kendrick doesn't but like some of the other ones who like bother
- 1:17:33Nora: Her all that time all the time that annoying kid
- 1:17:35Nora: He looks like a high schooler, but none of them none of the other ones
- 1:17:38Chris: I will say that was a highlight was baby Anna Kendrick. I was like, oh, hey someone who can act cool
- 1:17:43Nora: He forgot that she was in this movie
- 1:17:45Chris: I didn't know she was in the movie,
- 1:17:47Chris: so I was like, oh, that's fun.
- 1:17:48Nora: Yeah.
- 1:17:50Nora: Let's see.
- 1:17:51Nora: Edward, King of Soulless Stairs
- 1:17:54Nora: with the parking lot accident.
- 1:17:57Nora: Like, he's just like, he doesn't,
- 1:17:59Nora: you can't tell what's going on on his face.
- 1:18:02Nora: Like, I don't know, the acting from both of them,
- 1:18:05Nora: like, I just, they're just so wooden.
- 1:18:09Chris: I have to believe that at least a chunk of it
- 1:18:12Chris: is the direction, because I have seen
- 1:18:14Chris: both of these actors in other things
- 1:18:18Chris: that they were really good in.
- 1:18:20Mandy: Right.
- 1:18:20Mandy: So I saw a clip with Robert Pattinson,
- 1:18:23Mandy: which was again, I had a whole thing with all of his clips,
- 1:18:26Mandy: but he did say that his manager showed up
- 1:18:31Mandy: and watched him do one scene and then pulled him aside
- 1:18:33Mandy: and was like, whatever you just did there,
- 1:18:34Mandy: don't ever do that again.
- 1:18:36Mandy: (laughing)
- 1:18:38Mandy: So it was the direction.
- 1:18:40Mandy: Going to lunch or breaking for lunch when we come back.
- 1:18:42Charles: Don't do that again.
- 1:18:44Charles: I called it, no sorry, I'm cutting back to the fried chicken ice cream.
- 1:18:48Charles: I called it from a mile away. The outside is coconut.
- 1:18:52Nora: Oh no shit. Yeah. Wow. Okay that makes sense. How did nobody else pick up on that?
- 1:18:57Nora: I mean I was like yeah it tastes, it could be coconut.
- 1:19:00Chris: I was too busy with my sadness to wonder whether it was coconut or not.
- 1:19:04Nora: Honestly I think that the coconut would hold up better than a cornflake if it's frozen for a long
- 1:19:10Nora: That's why, like this is gonna have a better texture if it's been frozen for six months.
- 1:19:14Charles: Yeah, it's like a toasted coconut outside.
- 1:19:17Mandy: Can I just say that I am staring at a sheet like a notebook filled with notes about Twilight?
- 1:19:23Mandy: I'm so...
- 1:19:24Mandy: Not for me, I didn't write those.
- 1:19:26Chris: That's true, I did kind of go ham on the notes because I was just like one of my lines it
- 1:19:31Chris: says "Yay incest."
- 1:19:33Mandy: Yeah, I have two...
- 1:19:34Mandy: Oh my god, you guys, I think this is adorable.
- 1:19:37Mandy: I adore it.
- 1:19:38Chris: We all bought notes.
- 1:19:39Chris: I had no idea what I was getting into.
- 1:19:41Chris: I was like, I'm gonna need to reference things.
- 1:19:43Mandy: Am I saying this is bad?
- 1:19:45Mandy: No, adorable.
- 1:19:46Chris: Oh, I'm glad.
- 1:19:48Chris: (laughing)
- 1:19:49Chris: Some of these
- 1:19:50Chris: Like studying for a test.
- 1:19:52Chris: Some of these notes, I don't quite remember the context.
- 1:19:54Chris: I wrote spasm disease, question mark?
- 1:19:56Chris: (laughing)
- 1:19:57Chris: Piccassine, piccassine.
- 1:19:58Chris: Right, exactly.
- 1:20:00Nora: I wrote, bad boys are bad, Bella.
- 1:20:03Nora: (laughing)
- 1:20:06Nora: Bella is dumb.
- 1:20:08Nora: (laughing)
- 1:20:09Chris: I wrote Shakira is a vampire.
- 1:20:12Chris: (laughing)
- 1:20:14Chris: 'Cause like his sister or whatever,
- 1:20:17Chris: like she's kinda got like a Shakira thing going on.
- 1:20:20Chris: And I was like, oh, Shakira's a vampire, right on.
- 1:20:23Nora: Yeah, no I didn't, I actually didn't know
- 1:20:24Nora: what the plot was of this first movie.
- 1:20:27Nora: So like, I was expecting more werewolves.
- 1:20:29Nora: I was disappointed that there weren't any werewolves.
- 1:20:31Nora: They're coming, they're coming.
- 1:20:32Nora: I know, but I could like see the moments coming,
- 1:20:37Nora: the beats coming as they, you know,
- 1:20:38Nora: like I haven't seen it before,
- 1:20:39Nora: but I could feel the beats coming.
- 1:20:41Nora: So like, this is the skin of a killer, Bella.
- 1:20:43Nora: And like, you know, like I could feel those things coming
- 1:20:46Nora: and I was like, oh my God, oh my God, I'm excited.
- 1:20:48Nora: And I was like really into it.
- 1:20:50Nora: And I really thought that the noise
- 1:20:51Nora: of the sparkle was hilarious.
- 1:20:54Nora: (laughing)
- 1:20:54Nora: Yeah.
- 1:20:55Mandy: It was like really funny.
- 1:20:57Mandy: No, I'm just jealous.
- 1:20:58Mandy: I'm like, I want glitter.
- 1:21:00Mandy: (laughing)
- 1:21:02Chris: I was really surprised at how enamored the author is
- 1:21:07Chris: of baseball, because there's a lot of baseball
- 1:21:09Chris: in this damn movie.
- 1:21:11Chris: (laughing)
- 1:21:11Chris: Like, not only is there that crazy baseball scene,
- 1:21:15Chris: which honestly I thought was kind of cool
- 1:21:17Chris: for how ridiculous it was,
- 1:21:19Chris: but also her mom's boyfriend, husband, whatever,
- 1:21:23Chris: is a minor league baseball player.
- 1:21:24Chris: I was like, what is with your heart on for baseball?
- 1:21:28Nora: It's a really wholesome American sport.
- 1:21:30Nora: It's the American sport.
- 1:21:31Mandy: There's a type of guy, I mean,
- 1:21:33Mandy: you've met baseball players, right?
- 1:21:34Mandy: Like, it's a type of guy.
- 1:21:35Mandy: There is.
- 1:21:37Charles: She's Mormon, right? Yeah. Is that a thing? Maybe? Yeah. I don't know. I wouldn't doubt it.
- 1:21:44Nora: Yeah. Feels like something that the Mormons would be good at, baseball. Yeah.
- 1:21:51Nora: And when he said, "This is the skin of a killer, Bella," I was getting Major
- 1:21:55Nora: Riverdale "I'm a weirdo" vibes. When Jughead is like, "I'm a weirdo. I'm weird.
- 1:22:02Nora: Nobody likes me. I'm a weirdo." Like, that's what this felt like. It felt like
- 1:22:06Nora: Like I just, I really liked it.
- 1:22:08Charles: I like how during the tit soak,
- 1:22:11Charles: this is the skin of a killer, tit soak.
- 1:22:15Charles: If you spell it, tit soak, spell it out, it's tit soak.
- 1:22:18Charles: This is the skin of a killer.
- 1:22:19Charles: Oh, this is the skin.
- 1:22:20Charles: Yeah.
- 1:22:20Charles: So people get tattoos that say tit soak on their body.
- 1:22:23Charles: This is the skin of a killer.
- 1:22:25Mandy: Yeah.
- 1:22:25Charles: It's the pop culture of it all,
- 1:22:27Mandy: which is why all the things that I brought
- 1:22:28Mandy: were pop culture related.
- 1:22:29Mandy: 'Cause that's what I appreciate this for.
- 1:22:31Mandy: Like whatever it's a movie, whatever the book, whatever,
- 1:22:35Mandy: the changes and the things that brought to pop culture
- 1:22:37Mandy: is what I find that I appreciate the most.
- 1:22:39Charles: Right, but I loved, like I always remembered it
- 1:22:42Charles: as like him just like saying it like full with his chest,
- 1:22:46Charles: but it was kind of mumbled.
- 1:22:48Charles: It was like, this is kind of a killer bill.
- 1:22:50Nora: He's embarrassed.
- 1:22:52Charles: This is kind of a killer bill.
- 1:22:55Chris: Oh, more spoilers.
- 1:22:56Nora: That's a flesh ahead.
- 1:22:57Nora: (screams)
- 1:23:00Nora: Edward Cullen, you're Bella?
- 1:23:04Nora: Yes.
- 1:23:05Nora: I just want Edward Cohen, you and Bella.
- 1:23:09Chris: Also, do you see how much the,
- 1:23:11Chris: like everything is so drab,
- 1:23:13Chris: like it's barely not black and white.
- 1:23:16Mandy: 'Cause it's cloudy in Forks, God, get it together.
- 1:23:20Chris: But like, you look at some of the other clips
- 1:23:22Chris: and it's like so very different
- 1:23:25Chris: and aren't they in the same place?
- 1:23:26Nora: Right.
- 1:23:27Nora: Well, different directors,
- 1:23:28Nora: is there a different cinematographer for the next ones?
- 1:23:30Nora: I mean, probably.
- 1:23:30Chris: Yeah, I think so.
- 1:23:31Chris: Yeah.
- 1:23:32Chris: Ooh, I just farted.
- 1:23:33Chris: How long have you been 17?
- 1:23:36Chris: A while.
- 1:23:37Nora: A while.
- 1:23:39Nora: A while.
- 1:23:40Nora: (laughing)
- 1:23:42Nora: Spoiler.
- 1:23:45Nora: I thought that the piggyback was absolutely hilarious.
- 1:23:49Nora: It's so funny.
- 1:23:50Nora: It's so stupid and dumb.
- 1:23:52Nora: And I think it's so funny.
- 1:23:54Mandy: Not a week goes by in our household
- 1:23:56Mandy: without my husband telling me hop on Spider-Man.
- 1:23:59Mandy: (laughing)
- 1:24:00Charles: I don't know why.
- 1:24:03Chris: Well, we just learned something
- 1:24:04Chris: about Manny's romantic life.
- 1:24:07Charles: (laughing)
- 1:24:08Charles: I do not know why.
- 1:24:09Chris: How we get in the mood.
- 1:24:11Charles: We have done fast running in general
- 1:24:16Charles: for decades and decades on film.
- 1:24:19Charles: And no matter what we do,
- 1:24:20Charles: it's always the same slow motion flash
- 1:24:24Charles: as you're going as fast.
- 1:24:25Charles: And the same thing when you're climbing up things.
- 1:24:27Charles: We can never get away from the fucking CW flash running.
- 1:24:32Charles: We can't do it.
- 1:24:33Charles: And I don't understand it, how we can't do better,
- 1:24:36Charles: like fast running in general.
- 1:24:39Charles: It always sucks and it's always funny.
- 1:24:42Charles: It's so funny.
- 1:24:43Mandy: We just have to have hope for our AI overlords.
- 1:24:47Mandy: (laughing)
- 1:24:50Nora: I also thought, like when they're like falling in love
- 1:24:53Nora: and she says she's irrevocably been in love,
- 1:24:55Nora: it's been two weeks.
- 1:24:57Nora: Like what is this time?
- 1:24:58Mandy: Some of us, that's all it takes.
- 1:25:00Mandy: Thank you very much.
- 1:25:01Chris: Yeah, Mandy, how quickly did you get married?
- 1:25:04Mandy: (laughing)
- 1:25:09Mandy: That's a story for another day.
- 1:25:12Nora: But like, I don't get it.
- 1:25:14Nora: Irrevocably been
- 1:25:16Chris: I mean, I understand the feeling of falling in love
- 1:25:20Chris: in high school and you think that that is like
- 1:25:24Chris: the end all be all only relationship you'll ever have.
- 1:25:27Mandy: And sometimes it is.
- 1:25:29Chris: And if you're Mandy, it actually is.
- 1:25:31Chris: Nobody else.
- 1:25:32Charles: But we have to also remember,
- 1:25:34Charles: only one of them is a teenager.
- 1:25:36Nora: True.
- 1:25:37Charles: The other one is not significantly older
- 1:25:41Charles: and has been around for a while
- 1:25:43Charles: and should probably be able to control his emotions
- 1:25:49Charles: a little bit more.
- 1:25:50Mandy: Some of us appreciate older men and prefer that.
- 1:25:54Mandy: (laughing)
- 1:25:55Nora: I hear you.
- 1:25:55Nora: Mindy's just over here defending.
- 1:25:57Charles: Not saying, just saying.
- 1:25:59Charles: But an age gap of almost 100 years,
- 1:26:02Charles: I think is a little much.
- 1:26:04Mandy: I'm pretty sure when we went to wrestling,
- 1:26:06Mandy: I mentioned my undying love for Alan Alda at any age.
- 1:26:09Nora: No, I understand you said this.
- 1:26:11Mandy: Yeah.
- 1:26:12Nora: But it's still, I mean.
- 1:26:15Nora: It's weird.
- 1:26:16Nora: It's the whole vampire thing,
- 1:26:18Nora: where it gets weird and incest-y pretty fast.
- 1:26:21Nora: Here's one that I have,
- 1:26:23Charles: that I wanna talk about a little bit.
- 1:26:26Charles: For being as old as fuck,
- 1:26:29Charles: Ed, as a vampire, is really bad at keeping vampire secrets.
- 1:26:35Charles: He is legitimately
- 1:26:37Nora: One girl he can't read and he just spills all of it.
- 1:26:40Chris: He's like, "By the way, I'm a vampire
- 1:26:42Chris: "and all these people are vampires."
- 1:26:43Nora: "And they're my family and you're family now."
- 1:26:45Chris: Right, he's like, "Oh, yeah, yeah,
- 1:26:47Charles: "don't worry about that, okay, bye."
- 1:26:50Charles: And it's like, dude, you've had 90 years
- 1:26:53Charles: to perfect your backstory.
- 1:26:56Charles: You could have spent like,
- 1:27:00Charles: Mr. Dr. Cullen should have given them acting classes.
- 1:27:04Nora: Yeah.
- 1:27:05Charles: Carlisle should have given them acting classes.
- 1:27:07Charles: Agreed.
- 1:27:07Charles: 'Cause like, holy shit.
- 1:27:08Mandy: Can we just take a moment?
- 1:27:10Nora: Lestat would have done better.
- 1:27:11Mandy: Oh.
- 1:27:12Mandy: Can we just take a moment and quickly go through
- 1:27:14Mandy: which team we're all on?
- 1:27:17Mandy: Charles, what team are you on?
- 1:27:20Charles: I'm on team, I'm on team Edward.
- 1:27:23Mandy: Okay, okay.
- 1:27:24Nora: Nora?
- 1:27:25Nora: I literally don't know and there haven't been any werewolves so I don't have anybody to root for for werewolves.
- 1:27:29Mandy: Okay, actor?
- 1:27:31Nora: TBD.
- 1:27:31Chris: I would say Team Edward but with a big asterisk because the other dude is barely in the movie.
- 1:27:36Chris: Yeah.
- 1:27:37Nora: Okay.
- 1:27:37Chris: You're right, that's a TBD.
- 1:27:38Chris: And the scenes he's in also kind of suck.
- 1:27:41Chris: Okay.
- 1:27:41Nora: And his wig is not good.
- 1:27:42Nora: It's so bad!
- 1:27:45Nora: Team Charlie.
- 1:27:46Nora: Okay, I do like Charlie.
- 1:27:48Mandy: Olivia is team Carlisle and Olivia also says quote all of the soundtracks
- 1:27:56Nora: It's true. I literally
- 1:27:59Charles: Whoa, wait, they saw no
- 1:28:04Mandy: Mandy curse everyone. Yeah, I
- 1:28:09Chris: Have known Mandy
- 1:28:11Chris: For several years, but the first time you've heard have seen her in all sorts of different
- 1:28:18Chris: Situations and scenarios and
- 1:28:20Mandy: Well that's making it sound sketchy.
- 1:28:22Chris: Okay, nothing sexual, don't be gross.
- 1:28:25Chris: But like, I have never heard her curse before.
- 1:28:31Chris: Not once.
- 1:28:32Chris: Not at all. - Until this very moment.
- 1:28:34Chris: Wow.
- 1:28:35Mandy: It was a quote, what do I say instead of the quoting?
- 1:28:40Mandy: Olivia made me do it.
- 1:28:41Chris: You just say fuck more, that's what you really need to do.
- 1:28:43Chris: Here's what you do Mandy,
- 1:28:44Chris: 'cause when we were at the wrestling event,
- 1:28:47Chris: There is a wrestler named Dark Chic.
- 1:28:48Chris: We talked about her previously on the show.
- 1:28:51Chris: She wears a shirt that says cunt
- 1:28:54Chris: and below it says, can you not thanks?
- 1:28:57Chris: Yeah.
- 1:28:57Chris: We showed a picture of it on the show before.
- 1:29:01Chris: When Mandy was describing that, she said,
- 1:29:04Chris: I saw the C-U-N-T shirt.
- 1:29:08Nora: (laughing)
- 1:29:11Chris: So I'm here for whatever excuse allowed her
- 1:29:14Chris: to break that seal, but it's a pretty flimsy excuse.
- 1:29:19Nora: Yeah, I mean, I'm here for it.
- 1:29:20Mandy: I've been reading the, that's my one job right here
- 1:29:23Mandy: in the little sidecar seat.
- 1:29:26Chris: Yeah.
- 1:29:26Chris: All I'm saying is I think we've had a breakthrough moment.
- 1:29:30Nora: I think we might have, we're getting through to her.
- 1:29:32Mandy: It won't pop in my head though, right?
- 1:29:33Mandy: So you're not gonna get a natural one coming from me.
- 1:29:36Chris: Hey, you know what?
- 1:29:37Chris: We'll take what we can get.
- 1:29:39Nora: Well, there was one song.
- 1:29:40Nora: Let me see.
- 1:29:41Chris: Thank you so much, Olivia, from the bottom of our hearts.
- 1:29:45Nora: Ah, there was one that got stuck in my head
- 1:29:48Nora: that was in the credit and one of the emo songs
- 1:29:55Nora: got stuck in my head right at the end.
- 1:29:56Nora: And it was so good.
- 1:29:58Charles: That's a good story.
- 1:30:00Nora: I really, the soundtrack did stick with me.
- 1:30:03Nora: It's like diamonds.
- 1:30:09Chris: I expected more sparkle to be honest with you.
- 1:30:11Chris: I wanted to kill you.
- 1:30:14Chris: (dramatic music)
- 1:30:17Nora: I've never wanted a human's blood so much in my life.
- 1:30:22Mandy: I trust you.
- 1:30:26Mandy: Okay, so we talked about book versus movie, right?
- 1:30:29Mandy: And I know that Charles and I are the only ones
- 1:30:31Mandy: that have read the book.
- 1:30:33Mandy: One of the things that, I didn't make it all the way
- 1:30:35Mandy: through the book 'cause, you know, dying.
- 1:30:36Mandy: Yeah.
- 1:30:37Mandy: But one of the things I did notice
- 1:30:39Mandy: that I don't think I remembered
- 1:30:41Mandy: was he really wants her dead in the books.
- 1:30:44Mandy: Like every other word, it's like,
- 1:30:46Mandy: in the movie, it's like he mentions it once or twice,
- 1:30:48Mandy: like, "Oh, I'm addicted to the smaller blood.
- 1:30:49Mandy: "Oh, I could kill you."
- 1:30:50Mandy: Whatever, whatever.
- 1:30:52Mandy: In the books, it's every other word
- 1:30:54Mandy: where he's just fantasizing about her death.
- 1:30:56Mandy: Yeah. - And that's
- 1:30:56Mandy: For real.
- 1:30:57Nora: This is one thing that I struggle with this
- 1:31:00Nora: because as somebody who is so therapized
- 1:31:03Nora: with my relationships, especially with men,
- 1:31:06Nora: if they tell you they're bad, you should leave.
- 1:31:09Nora: Like, if they say they're bad, you should go.
- 1:31:14Nora: Like, don't, if they keep saying they wanna kill you,
- 1:31:18Nora: stop putting yourself in that situation,
- 1:31:21Nora: because like, you can do better.
- 1:31:24Nora: No, no.
- 1:31:24Chris: I mean, I don't, I think she finds out early on
- 1:31:29Chris: about this, because apparently it takes no effort
- 1:31:32Chris: to get him to spill the secret he's been keeping
- 1:31:35Chris: for hundreds of years, but she stays.
- 1:31:38Chris: So at that point, she's at the very least complicit.
- 1:31:43Nora: It just is not believable for me.
- 1:31:45Charles: Yeah, I agree with you to a certain extent.
- 1:31:48Nora: Like, especially the movie.
- 1:31:49Nora: Like, it just really feels,
- 1:31:51Nora: if somebody keeps telling you that they want you dead.
- 1:31:54Chris: Listen to them.
- 1:31:55Chris: There isn't.
- 1:31:55Nora: Why are you around?
- 1:31:56Mandy: But I can change him.
- 1:31:57Charles: No, it's a, but I can change him situation.
- 1:32:01Charles: But like, to like such a degree where like, he even like,
- 1:32:04Charles: the way that he talks to her until they're dating
- 1:32:07Charles: is like, "You suck, I hate you.
- 1:32:10Charles: "Get away from me, you stinky bitch."
- 1:32:12Charles: Like, that's all he, that's all,
- 1:32:15Charles: that's the only way that he talks about her.
- 1:32:17Chris: And it is very like middle school,
- 1:32:19Chris: "I like you, but get away from me 'cause you smell."
- 1:32:22Nora: Yeah. - Right.
- 1:32:22Nora: And he's, what, over 100 years old?
- 1:32:24Nora: So like, why is he acting like that?
- 1:32:25Nora: He's 200 years old.
- 1:32:27Nora: Yeah. - It was, no, no.
- 1:32:29Nora: He was Spanish blue. - 1918.
- 1:32:30Charles: 1918 is when he got bit.
- 1:32:32Nora: So, yeah, and he was only 28 then.
- 1:32:34Charles: I love that you all know that.
- 1:32:35Nora: Yeah, well, it was in the movie.
- 1:32:37Mandy: It was in the movie. - I have a Spanish influenza.
- 1:32:39Nora: It was in the movie.
- 1:32:40Mandy: I like, I really like the flu and historical plagues.
- 1:32:45Chris: With as sick as you get,
- 1:32:46Chris: you really shouldn't like the flu that much.
- 1:32:47Mandy: It's my horror movie.
- 1:32:48Mandy: Like, so some people watch horror movies,
- 1:32:50Mandy: I read like medical textbooks and I'm like,
- 1:32:51Mandy: oh my God, this is gonna keep me up at night.
- 1:32:54Nora: I do love a good medical mystery.
- 1:32:56Charles: Yeah, I reread the first couple chapters.
- 1:32:59Charles: I could not get myself to do it.
- 1:33:03Nora: Okay, speaking of the books,
- 1:33:05Nora: For the 15th anniversary,
- 1:33:07Nora: Stephanie released "Midnight Sun,"
- 1:33:09Nora: which is from Edward's point of view.
- 1:33:12Nora: Would you be willing to read that?
- 1:33:14Charles: Yeah, I would be willing to,
- 1:33:16Charles: but like, what's the point?
- 1:33:18Charles: You know, like, what does that change?
- 1:33:21Charles: Like, contextually, does that add anything new?
- 1:33:24Charles: I don't think it
- 1:33:26Nora: There's different characters,
- 1:33:27Nora: and he's definitely in love with somebody else.
- 1:33:30Charles: Oh, it's like a whole, like an alternate universe story?
- 1:33:33Nora: No, it's in the universe,
- 1:33:34Nora: but he just also loves somebody else too.
- 1:33:37Chris: I only found out about this after watching the movie
- 1:33:40Chris: and I thought that was kind of an interesting thing,
- 1:33:42Chris: but like, yeah, I don't,
- 1:33:46Chris: I mean, we already see what happens.
- 1:33:48Chris: The movie doesn't take place from Bella's perspective.
- 1:33:51Chris: It's kind of a third person perspective.
- 1:33:52Chris: So I don't know how much that would add to it really.
- 1:33:55Mandy: So it does, so I didn't read it once again.
- 1:33:58Mandy: I did my duty by reading "Fifty Shades."
- 1:34:02Mandy: That was bad enough for me.
- 1:34:04Mandy: and I was like, I can't anymore.
- 1:34:06Mandy: But my best friend did, and she said that
- 1:34:08Mandy: it gets really into the backstories of everybody,
- 1:34:10Mandy: so it gives an excuse for that.
- 1:34:11Mandy: Sure. - Right.
- 1:34:12Mandy: To make it different.
- 1:34:12Chris: It just kinda seems, like to me,
- 1:34:14Chris: granted I haven't read it, but it seems to me
- 1:34:16Chris: very much like, and yeah, we didn't recut this,
- 1:34:19Chris: this is all the same scene.
- 1:34:22Charles: (laughing)
- 1:34:23Charles: The way that he stares at her too,
- 1:34:25Charles: it's just like, I love how she even looks at herself
- 1:34:29Charles: and just like smells herself.
- 1:34:30Charles: Do I? - Do I smell?
- 1:34:31Charles: Does it me?
- 1:34:33Nora: (laughing)
- 1:34:34Chris: No, it's big like did I just fart vibes.
- 1:34:39Chris: But yeah, I don't know how much that would add to it.
- 1:34:42Chris: It to me seems very much like the sort of thing
- 1:34:46Chris: where they're like, well, we've established
- 1:34:48Chris: a huge audience for this.
- 1:34:50Chris: We've run out of books.
- 1:34:51Chris: Let's throw another one on there
- 1:34:53Chris: because we know that there are millions of people
- 1:34:55Chris: who will buy it.
- 1:34:56Mandy: I don't know when it came out,
- 1:34:57Mandy: but it came out significantly.
- 1:34:58Nora: It was the 15 year anniversary.
- 1:35:00Chris: Yeah, so it was when they knew
- 1:35:02Chris: they had a cash cow on their hands.
- 1:35:03Nora: Oh yeah.
- 1:35:04Mandy: Like, Pinky Shades had already come out and then it had
- 1:35:06Nora: Midnight Sun, and it's the second,
- 1:35:09Nora: it's the second extra book that Stephanie released.
- 1:35:11Mandy: Yeah, there's The Short Life of Brie Tanner.
- 1:35:14Nora: Yeah, there's
- 1:35:15Mandy: I haven't read any of those, so.
- 1:35:18Mandy: Because, you know, no thank you.
- 1:35:20Nora: Yeah, exactly, exactly.
- 1:35:23Nora: Yeah, no.
- 1:35:23Mandy: Please don't mink me.
- 1:35:24Nora: I just don't have, I don't care that much.
- 1:35:27Nora: But the Stephanie cameo, that was pretty funny.
- 1:35:30Charles: Yeah, she just shows up in the restaurant, right?
- 1:35:32Nora: Did you catch the Stephanie cameo, Chris?
- 1:35:34Chris: Is that the author?
- 1:35:35Chris: Yeah.
- 1:35:36Chris: No, because I don't know what she looks like.
- 1:35:38Nora: Well, it was just very obvious
- 1:35:39Nora: because they go, "Coffee for Stephanie,"
- 1:35:41Nora: and she's the only one sitting at the coffee shop.
- 1:35:44Nora: Like, it's like the most obvious cameo.
- 1:35:46Charles: Oh my God.
- 1:35:46Charles: The other one, okay, so the other thing
- 1:35:48Charles: is when they do the cover of the book
- 1:35:50Charles: where she drops the apple and Edward goes,
- 1:35:53Charles: "Foop, foop, foop, foop, hello, it's me, the apple."
- 1:35:56Charles: And it's like, "What, come on."
- 1:35:58Charles: (both laughing)
- 1:36:00Nora: I wrote Claire de Lune, bossic.
- 1:36:04Nora: (laughing)
- 1:36:04Nora: A very bossic choice.
- 1:36:06Nora: And then I liked noting the Mormonism
- 1:36:08Nora: that was shown throughout it.
- 1:36:10Nora: Like the laying in the field, being in love,
- 1:36:12Nora: and they haven't even kissed yet.
- 1:36:14Nora: No bed equals no fucking.
- 1:36:16Nora: That's in Edward's house, that's a problem.
- 1:36:19Nora: It's a great time.
- 1:36:20Chris: Yeah.
- 1:36:21Chris: I wrote suck me to save me, exclamation point.
- 1:36:25Nora: (laughing)
