- 0:49Speaker 2: will be at Tom's watch bar, and we certainly hope
- 0:52Speaker 2: that you can join us. Coming up in just a bit.
- 0:55Speaker 2: Jordan Neverly's conversation with our own Ian Furness from one
- 0:59Speaker 2: to three week and this heard on Friday at Kraken
- 1:02Speaker 2: Community Ice plus on ninety three to three KJARFM, explaining
- 1:06Speaker 2: why every is looking forward to more after extending for
- 1:11Speaker 2: two more years were five point five million dollars annually
- 1:14Speaker 2: plus GM. Jason botterrel on the heels of a trade
- 1:18Speaker 2: today right as a deadline hit and his immediate reaction
- 1:22Speaker 2: with the media coming up very shortly.
- 1:25Speaker 3: As far as.
- 1:26Speaker 2: Game matters our concerned, It's been two days off after
- 1:29Speaker 2: the Crack and fell to the Saint Louis Blues. Foward
- 1:31Speaker 2: to two disappointing in the sense the Crack and facing
- 1:34Speaker 2: a Blues team for the second time in six days
- 1:37Speaker 2: and falling in both meetings the Crack and practicing on
- 1:41Speaker 2: Thursday and then resting for the Friday NHL trade deadline,
- 1:45Speaker 2: where the first move came from within their own dressing room.
- 1:48Speaker 2: Captain Jordan Eberley and the Crack and agreeing to a
- 1:51Speaker 2: two year contract extension at age thirty five. He's enjoying
- 1:55Speaker 2: a bounce back season with full health and leading the
- 1:58Speaker 2: Crack and right now with twenty two goals.
- 2:00Speaker 4: In fifty nine games.
- 2:01Speaker 2: Additionally, everly, should he finish out, this next contract would
- 2:05Speaker 2: complete seven years in a Crack in Jersey, matching the
- 2:09Speaker 2: longest tenure of any team for his NHL career, the
- 2:12Speaker 2: Edmonton Oilers right now in the clubhouse lead spanning from
- 2:16Speaker 2: twenty ten to twenty seventeen. So Jordan Neberley looking for
- 2:21Speaker 2: a bounce back season for the Krack and when it
- 2:23Speaker 2: comes to the Stanley Cup playoffs and aiming for his
- 2:26Speaker 2: second appearance in the postseason with the Crack and after
- 2:30Speaker 2: eleven points in fourteen games back in twenty twenty two
- 2:34Speaker 2: twenty three after that, the only question with the Crack
- 2:37Speaker 2: and make a trade. The answer was yes and it
- 2:39Speaker 2: came basically right at the final bell. Bobby McMahon is
- 2:44Speaker 2: headed west, the Krack in getting him from the Toronto
- 2:46Speaker 2: Maple Leafs and the deal that was consummated late and
- 2:49Speaker 2: I mean minutes right before the trade deadline as well,
- 2:53Speaker 2: McMahon bringing over nineteen goals in sixty games that would
- 2:57Speaker 2: immediately put him second right now behind on the Crack
- 3:01Speaker 2: and roster. Twenty goals is his career high that was
- 3:04Speaker 2: set last season back in seventy four contest and a
- 3:07Speaker 2: late bloomer as well, beginning his pro career in the
- 3:10Speaker 2: EHL with Wichita and Newfoundland as an undrafted free agent,
- 3:16Speaker 2: but McMahon working his way up the lineup, becoming a
- 3:19Speaker 2: serviceable middle six winger with size at six foot two
- 3:23Speaker 2: speed as well, and McMahon looking to make new beginnings
- 3:27Speaker 2: here potentially longer term. He will be an unrestricted free
- 3:30Speaker 2: agent at the end of this campaign at age twenty nine. Additionally,
- 3:36Speaker 2: he is reunited head coach Lane Lambert, the two together
- 3:40Speaker 2: on last year's Maple Leaf squad when Lambert was an
- 3:43Speaker 2: associate coach for head coach Craig Barrubi in Toronto. It
- 3:47Speaker 2: camped off a day where not many big names were
- 3:50Speaker 2: on the move, the largest Nozam Kadriy right back to
- 3:53Speaker 2: the Avalanche in the similar timeframe when the McMahon deal
- 3:56Speaker 2: went down for the Kraken, John Carlson going west from
- 4:00Speaker 2: Washington to Anaheim, the Red Wings getting Justin Falk from
- 4:04Speaker 2: the Saint Louis Blues, Brayden Sheen going from Nashville to
- 4:07Speaker 2: the New York Islanders, among other moves in the NHL,
- 4:10Speaker 2: which still saw Elias Petterson, Robert Thomas, Jordan Kyru and
- 4:15Speaker 2: other big names stay with their teams by trade deadline time.
- 4:20Speaker 2: Jason Botterrel has more context here for the crack and
- 4:22Speaker 2: dressing room meeting with the media. Before that, Jordan Everley signed,
- 4:27Speaker 2: sealed and delivered for two more seasons after this year,
- 4:30Speaker 2: and he explained on the Ian forness showed the reasons
- 4:34Speaker 2: behind staying in Seattle rather than hitting the free agent
- 4:37Speaker 2: market at age thirty five, and you get the sense
- 4:40Speaker 2: they had a lot to do with calling him this
- 4:43Speaker 2: place home, you know, I.
- 4:44Speaker 3: Think from you know, year one was tough for me.
- 4:47Speaker 3: That summer when the expansion draft happened, I got picked.
- 4:50Speaker 3: I had a lot of mixed feelings. I'd just come
- 4:52Speaker 3: from Long Island where we had gone back to back
- 4:54Speaker 3: conference finals. Being picked by an expansion team, I didn't
- 4:58Speaker 3: really know what to expect. I mean, that was a
- 5:00Speaker 3: tough year too, you know, just with the way the
- 5:02Speaker 3: season went. You know, we lost a lot of games.
- 5:05Speaker 3: It was hard. I think once year two hit and
- 5:08Speaker 3: the guys came back motivated and we got into the playoffs.
- 5:12Speaker 3: My son was born that year here, you know, it
- 5:15Speaker 3: just started to feel like, Okay, we're building something. You know,
- 5:17Speaker 3: this is that that was an enjoyable, enjoyable season. Watching
- 5:20Speaker 3: the fans and the passion they had, I mean they
- 5:22Speaker 3: had that Year one two, they showed up every day,
- 5:24Speaker 3: but you know that just the way I could see
- 5:26Speaker 3: the city get fired. And that's how you build a franchise.
- 5:28Speaker 3: You get into the playoffs, you win hockey games. That's
- 5:30Speaker 3: how you grow excitement around the team, and that's what
- 5:32Speaker 3: we did. Year three was for me, we kind of
- 5:36Speaker 3: took a step back in the way that we played it.
- 5:38Speaker 3: Then year four for me, I was hurt half the year.
- 5:40Speaker 3: So I mean this year it kind of feels like
- 5:43Speaker 3: year two again. I mean we're back to where, you know,
- 5:45Speaker 3: I know that the potential of this group and we've
- 5:48Speaker 3: shown it, maybe not as much as I want it,
- 5:52Speaker 3: as much as I think we had showed it, but
- 5:53Speaker 3: we still put ourselves in a position, you know that
- 5:55Speaker 3: we're in a playoff spot and we're gonna be grinding
- 5:58Speaker 3: down the stretch. So it just made sense. I was like,
- 6:02Speaker 3: I'm coming back here for sure. This is exciting. I
- 6:04Speaker 3: love it to hear, my wife, my kids, everyone loves
- 6:06Speaker 3: it and just the family and group of it. So
- 6:10Speaker 3: excited to get that done.
- 6:10Speaker 5: Today, Jordan, every joining me, How does that translate for
- 6:14Speaker 5: you and others that are here? Because I've heard the
- 6:16Speaker 5: same thing from Monty and some guys that have come in.
- 6:18Speaker 5: And he had a great line on Hockey Night in
- 6:20Speaker 5: Canada last week. I guess it was on after Hours.
- 6:23Speaker 5: He's like, yeah, I mean I didn't know anything about
- 6:24Speaker 5: really Seattle, and I had to kind of check with
- 6:26Speaker 5: a couple of guys, and we're kind of still an
- 6:28Speaker 5: unknown commodity out here. Everyone knows Vegas when they came
- 6:30Speaker 5: in the league. It's because Vegas people go there. Nobody
- 6:33Speaker 5: knows about this market yet. Lest I mean you you
- 6:35Speaker 5: probably popped in here what three times during juniors, like
- 6:37Speaker 5: in and out maybe right, so you really know anything
- 6:39Speaker 5: about Seattle? How do you and other players, because there
- 6:42Speaker 5: is a sense of recruiting, how do you sell Seattle
- 6:46Speaker 5: to people, whether it be you know, wanting to you know,
- 6:49Speaker 5: wave a no trade clause or even the summer with
- 6:51Speaker 5: free agency. What do you tell guys? What do you
- 6:52Speaker 5: tell guys around Lega? What do you hear about this market?
- 6:55Speaker 3: Well, I think, first and foremost just the the ownership group.
- 6:59Speaker 3: I mean the amenities that we have as a group,
- 7:02Speaker 3: going above and beyond any team that I've ever played on,
- 7:05Speaker 3: from the food to the way we get treated in
- 7:08Speaker 3: the locker room, to you know, this stuff like it's unbelievable.
- 7:11Speaker 3: You know, we get treated unbelievable. And then they want
- 7:14Speaker 3: to win. I mean they're going after players, they're trying
- 7:17Speaker 3: to get better. I think for me that was a
- 7:19Speaker 3: that's a huge selling point as I get older, that
- 7:21Speaker 3: you know, I want to win. That's that's what it
- 7:23Speaker 3: comes down to. I want to ring, and the willingness
- 7:26Speaker 3: that they have to be aggressive to get players. You know,
- 7:30Speaker 3: I think the fan base for me there this this
- 7:32Speaker 3: is a sports city. I don't think they I mean
- 7:34Speaker 3: everyone talks about the Seahawks and the Mariners, but the
- 7:38Speaker 3: fans that they get behind us, it's it's unbelievable. Those
- 7:41Speaker 3: three things. And for me, you know, you want to
- 7:43Speaker 3: play in a market that cares. They do. I think
- 7:45Speaker 3: on top of that, I've been in a market in
- 7:47Speaker 3: Canada where it's it can be hard, you're under the
- 7:50Speaker 3: spotlight a little bit. You don't really have that as
- 7:52Speaker 3: much here, which is kind of nice. I mean those
- 7:54Speaker 3: are all selling features, and then they're just the city
- 7:56Speaker 3: of Seattle. I think you know that visually it's beautiful.
- 7:59Speaker 3: I think the one thing that maybe guys get knocked
- 8:02Speaker 3: on about there is the rain a little bit and
- 8:03Speaker 3: it's really not that bad. So it's a little maybe today,
- 8:07Speaker 3: but most days, I must say, is not that bad.
- 8:09Speaker 3: So I mean it's just for me, it's been an
- 8:12Speaker 3: unbelievable place to pay. I love it.
- 8:13Speaker 4: I think that's I think that's well said.
- 8:15Speaker 5: And I you know, this team, it feels like it's
- 8:18Speaker 5: it's so strange because first of all, Edmonton I can imagine.
- 8:20Speaker 5: I can't even imagine how hard it would be to
- 8:22Speaker 5: play up there, I or other Canadian markets at times too.
- 8:25Speaker 5: You see that like that's Toronto's issue. But you know
- 8:27Speaker 5: here there is a little bit of pressure. I mean
- 8:28Speaker 5: there's people, you know, I'm hearing from guys today and
- 8:31Speaker 5: we're hearing from our listeners today like they want this
- 8:33Speaker 5: team to take that next step, and there is some
- 8:36Speaker 5: there is some push. So there's kind of a it's
- 8:37Speaker 5: probably a good balance along the way. What does this
- 8:40Speaker 5: team need to do because we've seen the good hell,
- 8:43Speaker 5: i'd say the great Monday's game against Carolina. That's an
- 8:45Speaker 5: elite Stanley Cup contending team. You guys, I don't look
- 8:48Speaker 5: at the shots on goal. I don't think any of
- 8:49Speaker 5: us really do, because they shoot from they shoot from
- 8:51Speaker 5: the space. Need a that team does. But what you
- 8:54Speaker 5: guys did in that game defensively, your structure, getting the
- 8:56Speaker 5: timely goals to get that win, and then you bounce
- 8:59Speaker 5: back and how what happened on Wednesday? Yeah, it's the
- 9:02Speaker 5: ups and downs. It feels like sometimes you play to
- 9:03Speaker 5: the level of competition. What does this team need to
- 9:06Speaker 5: do to Jordan take that next step and get to
- 9:08Speaker 5: the postseason?
- 9:09Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean I've heard that question about Carolina and
- 9:11Speaker 3: then Saint Louis. I think the one thing for me
- 9:13Speaker 3: is I put in this way that was an original question. No,
- 9:15Speaker 3: I've had that one the other day. Yeah, they were
- 9:18Speaker 3: asking me about it, and and the reality of this
- 9:20Speaker 3: for me is is this league is such it's just
- 9:23Speaker 3: so hard. Every team is good. I think people look
- 9:26Speaker 3: at the standings. You see where Carolina was at and
- 9:28Speaker 3: we're probably not favored going into that game, and we
- 9:30Speaker 3: come out right, and then they go into the Gangs
- 9:32Speaker 3: game against Saint Louis and they're like, oh, they should
- 9:33Speaker 3: win this one based on the state. But every team
- 9:35Speaker 3: in this league is good. It doesn't matter how you play.
- 9:39Speaker 3: You know, you're every team any night doesn't you have
- 9:42Speaker 3: a chance to win. Each team does. And that's just
- 9:44Speaker 3: the reality of this league and that's why it's so
- 9:46Speaker 3: hard to win a Stanley Cup. So, you know, Saint
- 9:50Speaker 3: Louis doesn't get enough credit for how good of a
- 9:52Speaker 3: team they are. You know, we definitely had our stretches
- 9:54Speaker 3: in that game where they kind of took it to us,
- 9:55Speaker 3: but I like the way that we pushed back a
- 9:57Speaker 3: little bit too. But for to answer your question, to
- 10:00Speaker 3: get over the hump, you know, I've seen the potential
- 10:03Speaker 3: and not just in the Carolina game, but the games
- 10:06Speaker 3: before the break, the last three weeks, two weeks, the
- 10:09Speaker 3: style of hockey that we were playing, and I've been
- 10:10Speaker 3: on some teams Vegas La were huge wins. I've been
- 10:13Speaker 3: on teams that are really good, and I've been on
- 10:15Speaker 3: teams that you know, I knew that we weren't good,
- 10:17Speaker 3: and playing in the last three weeks of the season
- 10:19Speaker 3: or before the break, the way that we were playing,
- 10:21Speaker 3: I was like, Wow, we're not just going to get in,
- 10:23Speaker 3: but we're gonna be a tough team to beat.
- 10:24Speaker 2: Great chat with Jordan Eberley again, looks like that he
- 10:27Speaker 2: has found a home in a long term home here
- 10:29Speaker 2: in the city of Seattle. Previously, after some uncertainty coming
- 10:32Speaker 2: out of the New York Islanders through the expansion draft,
- 10:35Speaker 2: beverly hoping he can make much more of a difference
- 10:38Speaker 2: potentially for a second playoff front here with the Krack
- 10:41Speaker 2: and after he helped the crack And get to within
- 10:43Speaker 2: one win of the conference final back in twenty twenty
- 10:46Speaker 2: two and twenty three, the Crack and again acquiring Bobby
- 10:50Speaker 2: McMahon to complete a trade deadline period where unless you
- 10:53Speaker 2: were a seller, every team in the Pacific Division made
- 10:58Speaker 2: a move, Vegas getting Rasmus Anderson and Nick dowd Anaheim
- 11:02Speaker 2: getting John Carlson, Connor Murphy and Jason Dicketson additionally going
- 11:06Speaker 2: to Edmonton Key for sure at an earlier acquisition reupping
- 11:10Speaker 2: though with the San Jose Sharks after this season, the
- 11:13Speaker 2: Kings of the course getting our Timmy panerin among others
- 11:16Speaker 2: as well, and what was a busy trade deadline where
- 11:19Speaker 2: not many big names were on the move, but the
- 11:23Speaker 2: Krack and finding a way to get a deal done
- 11:26Speaker 2: literally at the last minute when the smoke finally cleared,
- 11:29Speaker 2: GM Jason Boderol for the Kraken met with the media,
- 11:32Speaker 2: beginning with his recap on the moves.
- 11:35Speaker 6: When you have an opportunity to sign your captain for
- 11:37Speaker 6: another two years, your leading scorer, a player that exemplifies
- 11:41Speaker 6: so much that the Seattle cracking are about. You know,
- 11:45Speaker 6: we are just Ecstaduct of Jordan part of our organization
- 11:48Speaker 6: for two more years.
- 11:50Speaker 4: You know, he's a great leader for our young players.
- 11:53Speaker 6: I think even with injury last year, he's taken his
- 11:56Speaker 6: focus on training to another level, and then you look
- 11:59Speaker 6: at his on ice product and continues to help us
- 12:01Speaker 6: win and has put us in a playoff position here
- 12:03Speaker 6: right now.
- 12:04Speaker 4: So excited from that.
- 12:06Speaker 6: In the with the addition of Bobby McMahon, we wanted
- 12:09Speaker 6: to look and try to add a piece to our group,
- 12:12Speaker 6: someone who could play in our top nine. We look
- 12:14Speaker 6: at Bobby as a player that brings speed to our lineup,
- 12:17Speaker 6: gets pucks the net, gets the net, and I think
- 12:20Speaker 6: can compliment the.
- 12:21Speaker 4: Rest of our group very well.
- 12:22Speaker 6: And we talked a lot about making sure our chemistry
- 12:25Speaker 6: with our group stayed the same, making sure that our
- 12:28Speaker 6: young players still had an opportunity to grow. And just
- 12:32Speaker 6: the fact that you know Bobby has a relationship with
- 12:34Speaker 6: Lane from last year, I think we'll just make the
- 12:36Speaker 6: transition that much easier.
- 12:37Speaker 4: To Seattle here.
- 12:38Speaker 7: What was able to tell you about him from his.
- 12:40Speaker 4: Experience coach last year?
- 12:42Speaker 6: Well, I think the little things that we touched on right,
- 12:44Speaker 6: just his speed, his attacking style. You look at Bobby's history,
- 12:48Speaker 6: He's worked at every level to get his opportunity to
- 12:51Speaker 6: be a successful story at the National Hockey League. His
- 12:54Speaker 6: ability to play up and down the lineup. We just
- 12:56Speaker 6: felt it was something that would fit very well with
- 12:58Speaker 6: our group.
- 12:59Speaker 8: From his skills standpoint, how is he unique or different
- 13:02Speaker 8: than what you.
- 13:03Speaker 3: Currently have on?
- 13:04Speaker 6: Well, I think if you look at it, we're a
- 13:07Speaker 6: team that needs to continue to work on getting pucks
- 13:10Speaker 6: in net, increasing our shot totals.
- 13:12Speaker 4: That's what Bobby does.
- 13:13Speaker 6: And you know, I think we're a team that wants
- 13:16Speaker 6: to continue when we're playing well, when we're creating opportunities,
- 13:18Speaker 6: we're utilizing our speed out there hard on the ford check.
- 13:22Speaker 6: These are elements that I think he brings and helps
- 13:23Speaker 6: our group.
- 13:24Speaker 9: Do you see him as a top six forward.
- 13:26Speaker 4: On your look?
- 13:27Speaker 6: I think what we're doing that will be up to
- 13:29Speaker 6: Lane on where he puts him into the lineup. From
- 13:31Speaker 6: that standpoint, you've heard myself talk a lot about it.
- 13:33Speaker 6: You heard Lane talk a lot about it that we
- 13:35Speaker 6: certainly want to be a four line team. I think
- 13:37Speaker 6: sometimes even just look at the time on ice, you
- 13:40Speaker 6: don't know which way, what is our first line, what's
- 13:42Speaker 6: your second, what's your third, what's the fourth? So we're
- 13:44Speaker 6: just giving Lane more opportunities and to sort of set
- 13:46Speaker 6: up the lineup.
- 13:47Speaker 9: How did the market kind of shape up for and
- 13:50Speaker 9: I'm sure you were having discussions about other players as well,
- 13:52Speaker 9: right for some of the like really top top tier
- 13:56Speaker 9: type of players that might have been available out there.
- 13:58Speaker 9: I've seen reports that it was pretty high for some
- 14:01Speaker 9: of the asks.
- 14:01Speaker 3: What did you kind of come across or as much.
- 14:05Speaker 6: Yeah, Look, there's always a lot of conversations going on.
- 14:08Speaker 6: There's always you know, discussions on big trades and big,
- 14:13Speaker 6: big acquisitions. Look, we certainly wanted to be involved with them.
- 14:16Speaker 6: We wanted to be aggressive and trying to help out
- 14:18Speaker 6: our team here at the TODA. It's something that I
- 14:21Speaker 6: touched on before, wanting to find a balance of adding
- 14:24Speaker 6: to our group but not blocking our young kids. And
- 14:27Speaker 6: I'm not just talking about Berkeley, Katon or Shane, right,
- 14:29Speaker 6: but you look at a player like Melanson or Winterton
- 14:31Speaker 6: and what they've come up and given us a certain
- 14:33Speaker 6: element to our group here, and we want to make
- 14:35Speaker 6: sure that they continue to have ice time and continue to.
- 14:37Speaker 4: Develop as you know, as players.
- 14:40Speaker 6: So it was a sort of finding that unique balance
- 14:42Speaker 6: here of you know, adding to the group but not
- 14:45Speaker 6: blocking players from our group.
- 14:46Speaker 4: And we're happy about it.
- 14:48Speaker 6: But from the bigger picture things, there's always going to
- 14:50Speaker 6: be a ton of discussion, whether things get done now
- 14:53Speaker 6: or at the draft or later on the summer. I
- 14:55Speaker 6: think you're at least initiating a lot of conversations that
- 14:57Speaker 6: can could go on. Well, look, I think he's playing
- 15:04Speaker 6: extremely wanted right now. We I think, you know, he's
- 15:07Speaker 6: a developing player, even at his age right now, like
- 15:10Speaker 6: he's worked his way up from you know, obviously been
- 15:12Speaker 6: a free agent in college to the HL, at the
- 15:14Speaker 6: American Ocke League, Towns, the National arche League. Yeah, he's
- 15:16Speaker 6: a developing player. How high you can get, I think
- 15:19Speaker 6: that's still up to him. And well that's what we're
- 15:21Speaker 6: looking forward to interacting with him on a daily occurrence here.
- 15:24Speaker 6: But no, it's a it's a it's a real success
- 15:27Speaker 6: story for how hard he's worked. And that's something that
- 15:29Speaker 6: Lane just touched on is just even maybe when the
- 15:32Speaker 6: goals aren't going in or the office is that going in.
- 15:34Speaker 6: He has that work ethic, that real backup b game.
- 15:37Speaker 10: Jason, you went into this week with four veterans on
- 15:43Speaker 10: expiring contracts.
- 15:44Speaker 4: One is now.
- 15:46Speaker 10: Tied up, you have three others. What went into thinking, well,
- 15:52Speaker 10: do we want to get assets back from them? Do
- 15:55Speaker 10: we want to resign them? Do we just want to
- 15:58Speaker 10: make sure that there are for the playoff push?
- 16:01Speaker 3: Yep.
- 16:02Speaker 6: Look, it's a situation where we looked at it. We
- 16:05Speaker 6: we've stayed in touch with our representatives throughout this process. Yeah,
- 16:09Speaker 6: we could have maybe put some out in the trade
- 16:10Speaker 6: market and get something, but this this team is in
- 16:13Speaker 6: a playoff position, you know, and in previous years we've
- 16:16Speaker 6: we've made some difficult decisions and let some good players
- 16:19Speaker 6: go because we weren't in a playoff situation and and
- 16:22Speaker 6: got draft.
- 16:22Speaker 4: Picks back and got draft assets back.
- 16:26Speaker 6: You know, even this year we took out an NHL
- 16:29Speaker 6: player to get draft draft picks back. We felt it
- 16:32Speaker 6: was now time to utilize some of those those picks
- 16:34Speaker 6: and bringing a player like Bobby here into the mix.
- 16:36Speaker 6: And we clearly understand it's going to be a tough
- 16:38Speaker 6: month here, right you look at our schedule, it's going
- 16:40Speaker 6: to be a challenging month. It's been the story of
- 16:43Speaker 6: the National Hockey right the parody of the league. But
- 16:45Speaker 6: we're ecstatic that we're in the mix. We're in a
- 16:48Speaker 6: playoff spot right now, and we think this is a
- 16:51Speaker 6: great experience for young players and that's why we wanted
- 16:54Speaker 6: to keep this team together and hopefully add which we
- 16:56Speaker 6: did in Bobby.
- 16:57Speaker 10: And we tell us exactly the numbers in term down
- 17:01Speaker 10: to the penny uh that you're offering.
- 17:04Speaker 4: To the other three players without a doubt.
- 17:06Speaker 6: Look, it's a situation where we're extact to have them
- 17:11Speaker 6: part of our group here.
- 17:12Speaker 4: We've talked to them.
- 17:13Speaker 6: I think there's always a balance of focusing on the
- 17:17Speaker 6: business side and folksing in hockey, and right now, like
- 17:20Speaker 6: our main focus is to help this group and stay
- 17:22Speaker 6: focused on hockey, and we're just ecstatic about this group
- 17:26Speaker 6: right now.
- 17:27Speaker 7: I think I saw that it's a conditional second that
- 17:29Speaker 7: you're sending to Toronto as a part of what's what's
- 17:31Speaker 7: the condition on that with you?
- 17:32Speaker 6: I think I believe the two picks that we have
- 17:35Speaker 6: going through here again, I believe it's where we have
- 17:37Speaker 6: Winnipeg and Columbus's pick.
- 17:39Speaker 4: It's the lower of those two picks.
- 17:41Speaker 9: Is there a hope that McMahon is with the team
- 17:43Speaker 9: beyond this season?
- 17:45Speaker 4: Look, it's we certainly have the space.
- 17:47Speaker 6: It's I think right now what we've sort of talked
- 17:49Speaker 6: to his representatives about is, let's just let's just focus
- 17:52Speaker 6: on him getting to Seattle here just so everyone's No,
- 17:56Speaker 6: he probably won't be in the lineup tomorrow and for
- 17:58Speaker 6: a couple of days just from an immigrt standpoint, but
- 18:00Speaker 6: we'll get him to Seattle, get him part of our mix,
- 18:02Speaker 6: and just sort of see how he fits in. I
- 18:05Speaker 6: think it's a situation of seeing how he fits in
- 18:07Speaker 6: with our group and making sure that he likes Seattle,
- 18:09Speaker 6: he likes his role here, and then we'll see where
- 18:11Speaker 6: it goes in the off season.
- 18:12Speaker 11: Jase, when you talk about adding to the current group,
- 18:14Speaker 11: but how much did you consider packaging current guys for
- 18:18Speaker 11: maybe other deals or how much we're trying to balance,
- 18:20Speaker 11: you know, those moving.
- 18:22Speaker 4: Around those assets.
- 18:23Speaker 6: Look, there's always a balance of trying to find different
- 18:26Speaker 6: things of being, like I said to you before, bringing
- 18:28Speaker 6: veterans in, but still giving your young kids a lot
- 18:31Speaker 6: of an opportunity. And I think that's what we're just
- 18:33Speaker 6: really happy about in the second half here, how some
- 18:36Speaker 6: of our players have come up from Coachella Valley and
- 18:39Speaker 6: been impact players for us. I think just overall, you
- 18:42Speaker 6: look at it from about I don't know what the
- 18:44Speaker 6: day is exactly, December twentieth, you know, this team has
- 18:46Speaker 6: played very well, and to get through January with seventeen games,
- 18:52Speaker 6: you know, it was a big part of our depth.
- 18:53Speaker 6: And whether it's Ben Myers, whether it's Ryan Winterton, Jacob
- 18:57Speaker 6: Malans and these guys who've been in Coachell about coming up,
- 19:01Speaker 6: they've really added a mix to it. And I think
- 19:03Speaker 6: that's gotten out of the players we now look at,
- 19:06Speaker 6: you know, it's it's something why we didn't really go
- 19:08Speaker 6: out and get more dept players in the in the
- 19:10Speaker 6: trade market.
- 19:11Speaker 4: You know, whether it's you know, Oscar.
- 19:13Speaker 6: Molguard or Yannie Newman or Gagara Ferkus or John Hayden.
- 19:18Speaker 6: We feel we have a lot of forwards especially that
- 19:21Speaker 6: can step in and play roles for us, you know,
- 19:23Speaker 6: in the regular season and hopefully the playoffs.
- 19:25Speaker 11: And we met, you know, aside from the depth, what
- 19:27Speaker 11: else have you seen from the room to you know,
- 19:29Speaker 11: give you confidence for the march into the as hope
- 19:33Speaker 11: for the postseason.
- 19:34Speaker 6: Like I said, I think we have good depth throughout
- 19:36Speaker 6: our lineup, and this is a team that went through
- 19:38Speaker 6: a tough stretch in December. Like the fact that they've
- 19:42Speaker 6: been able to rebound from that and really take it.
- 19:44Speaker 6: I like how we played at the end leading into
- 19:47Speaker 6: Olympic group break. I thought, especially that homestand then going
- 19:51Speaker 6: into Vegas grabbing a victory there, grabbing a victory in
- 19:53Speaker 6: LA before the final break, that was excellent job. Or
- 19:57Speaker 6: our team coming out of the break. I think there's
- 19:58Speaker 6: still another level that we can get. I think, uh,
- 20:01Speaker 6: you know, we've played solid defensively, but we do have
- 20:04Speaker 6: to create more chances, create a little bit more offense,
- 20:06Speaker 6: and you know that will be the goal starting tomorrow.
- 20:09Speaker 7: You mentioned wanting to preserve the ability for young guys
- 20:12Speaker 7: to have opportunity here yep, adding another guy in the group.
- 20:14Speaker 7: Though somebody is gonna get much down to the fourth line,
- 20:16Speaker 7: somebody's gonna have to get scratched. Kind of how do
- 20:18Speaker 7: you see that situation playing out and what kind of
- 20:20Speaker 7: challenge is that going to be for Lane to have
- 20:22Speaker 7: to build out a lineup every night and find a
- 20:24Speaker 7: way to keep guys like Myers and in the line.
- 20:27Speaker 6: I think it's a challenge, but I think it's challenged
- 20:28Speaker 6: most coaches are going to take right And unfortunately there's
- 20:31Speaker 6: we have a lot of games here in March here.
- 20:33Speaker 4: There are going to be intense games.
- 20:35Speaker 6: I think you got a little taste of it on
- 20:37Speaker 6: Monday against Carolina, just the atmosphere in the building and
- 20:39Speaker 6: the and the energy that was out on the ice.
- 20:42Speaker 6: And look, injuries are going to happen and uh find
- 20:46Speaker 6: a different mix. And what I like right now with
- 20:48Speaker 6: our players is I think Lane has different depending on
- 20:51Speaker 6: the opponent, There's different players that he can put into
- 20:53Speaker 6: the lineup that it's going to bring a little bit
- 20:55Speaker 6: of a different element to our group. So those at
- 20:57Speaker 6: the end of the day, those are gonna be Lane's decisions.
- 20:59Speaker 6: And it's done a good job with it throughout the year.
- 21:01Speaker 6: I'm sure you'll do it fine.
- 21:02Speaker 4: Now what will it.
- 21:04Speaker 10: Take for what do you need to hear down in
- 21:07Speaker 10: Coachella Valley for Yannie Newman to be back with this
- 21:11Speaker 10: team And what are they working with him on down
- 21:16Speaker 10: there to bring him back to the NHL.
- 21:19Speaker 6: Well, look, any one of our young players, whether they
- 21:21Speaker 6: in the National Hockey League or in Coachella Valley.
- 21:23Speaker 4: I think you see it out here and practice and stuff.
- 21:25Speaker 6: They're constantly working there on their game, no matter what,
- 21:28Speaker 6: whether you're in the Nationalkling America, like, you're still always working.
- 21:32Speaker 6: It's what I like about our culture right now off
- 21:34Speaker 6: the ice, in the weight room there continuing to build
- 21:37Speaker 6: their bodies there on the ice, working with Justin Rye
- 21:41Speaker 6: or Jess on just little aspects.
- 21:42Speaker 4: Of their games.
- 21:43Speaker 6: Someone like Yanni, to me, it's we know he can score, right,
- 21:46Speaker 6: he's got the shot. The fact that he continues to
- 21:49Speaker 6: work on just utilizing his size to his advantage, protecting pucks,
- 21:54Speaker 6: gaining a little bit of an extra step, and then
- 21:56Speaker 6: just continue to work on his defensive game. But look
- 21:59Speaker 6: right now, like we have no hesitation to call Yanni
- 22:02Speaker 6: up and put them in our lineup from that standpoint,
- 22:04Speaker 6: And like I said, have a player like Oscar Moguard
- 22:07Speaker 6: has been Olympics playing at that level and I thought
- 22:09Speaker 6: he looked very well good over in LA too. Having
- 22:12Speaker 6: those type of players at our disposal, I think gives
- 22:15Speaker 6: us a great depth.
- 22:16Speaker 4: Without the organization any differences.
- 22:19Speaker 5: With this year's trade deadline from past one is just
- 22:21Speaker 5: in the new CBA have any impact or that kind.
- 22:23Speaker 4: Of Look, I I.
- 22:26Speaker 6: It's tough to say in general, right, Like, we weren't
- 22:30Speaker 6: a team that was right up against the cap from
- 22:31Speaker 6: that perspective, so it didn't really impact us too much there.
- 22:35Speaker 6: I think it was just more of like, look, there
- 22:37Speaker 6: is so much parody. Even with the teams that are
- 22:39Speaker 6: so called sellers, they're not that far off, you know.
- 22:45Speaker 6: So and then you also look at it, there's not
- 22:47Speaker 6: a lot of free agents. A lot of teams have
- 22:48Speaker 6: our resigned their flip free agents, so you know, I'm
- 22:50Speaker 6: sure that some of the discussions are with some teams
- 22:53Speaker 6: like hey, okay, we get rid of these players, then
- 22:55Speaker 6: who's going to be on our team next year?
- 22:57Speaker 4: So it's just a situation.
- 22:58Speaker 6: I think some of that came into the mix on
- 23:00Speaker 6: maybe why there wasn't as many trades just you're.
- 23:03Speaker 8: Competing with a lot of teams for a couple of
- 23:05Speaker 8: couple of playoff spots here. Yep, for those teams that
- 23:08Speaker 8: you saw that we were active and added, do you
- 23:10Speaker 8: feel like in comparison, you did enough to improve your
- 23:14Speaker 8: team during this period.
- 23:18Speaker 6: Look, I think we have a lot of faith in
- 23:20Speaker 6: our group We believe this is a team that can
- 23:22Speaker 6: make the playoffs and we're excited about that. Like I
- 23:25Speaker 6: said to you before, I think it's gonna be a challenge.
- 23:27Speaker 6: I think our division is wide open. But the fact
- 23:31Speaker 6: that our young players are going to get the experience
- 23:33Speaker 6: of hey, scoreboard watching, you know, understanding that, Hey, there's
- 23:38Speaker 6: the excitement, the nervousness of what's going on out there,
- 23:40Speaker 6: but then trying to take care of their own business
- 23:41Speaker 6: and continue to develop and just see how intense these
- 23:44Speaker 6: games are. You know, I think it's it's a great
- 23:47Speaker 6: experience for them all. We still talk about, you know,
- 23:49Speaker 6: Matty Beiner's experience his first.
- 23:51Speaker 4: Year playing fourteen playoff games. It really helped him a
- 23:53Speaker 4: lot a lot.
- 23:54Speaker 6: Now, just being a part of the mix yere for
- 23:57Speaker 6: our younger players, whether it's Riker, whether it's Berkeley, whether
- 24:01Speaker 6: it's Shane, I think is going to be a great experience.
- 24:03Speaker 6: And but yeah, we believe in our group here. We
- 24:05Speaker 6: do think we have an opportunity. We know it's gonna
- 24:07Speaker 6: be difficult, but it should be a lot of fun
- 24:08Speaker 6: in the next few weeks.
- 24:10Speaker 9: There's you guys have stated that the goal is to
- 24:12Speaker 9: become a perennial playoff contender.
- 24:14Speaker 4: Yep.
- 24:14Speaker 9: In the current that's the current goal.
- 24:15Speaker 3: So assuming that we reach.
- 24:18Speaker 9: That goal here, what is the next step? Like, how
- 24:21Speaker 9: how do you worsen the steps that we taken common
- 24:23Speaker 9: true contenders.
- 24:25Speaker 6: Well, let's try to get to the playoffs first for
- 24:27Speaker 6: the first one to make that step from that standpoint,
- 24:29Speaker 6: But I think, like, look, we're really happy with our
- 24:32Speaker 6: goaltending right now and our defensive play. I think there's
- 24:34Speaker 6: always an opportunity to continue to develop our forwards. It's
- 24:38Speaker 6: why we were looking to add a forward to our
- 24:39Speaker 6: group here. It's why we've been so focused on development
- 24:43Speaker 6: both in Coachella Valley and Seattle and developing our young forwards.
- 24:46Speaker 6: I think that's the opportunity for us to really take
- 24:49Speaker 6: the next step is just building that depth and building
- 24:54Speaker 6: an offense that can contribute a little bit more for sure.
- 24:56Speaker 2: So after all the fuss and all the flurry of
- 24:58Speaker 2: the Crack and helping that this week was enough hear
- 25:01Speaker 2: for a little bit of an extra push in this
- 25:03Speaker 2: playoff race. As they stand right now still in wildcard
- 25:06Speaker 2: spot number two and two points ahead of the San
- 25:10Speaker 2: Jose Sharks. The Cracking had twenty nine twenty three and
- 25:13Speaker 2: nine point total at sixty seven, and Ottawa still hanging
- 25:18Speaker 2: in the playoff race right now, but four points beneath
- 25:21Speaker 2: the cut line. Boston controls that the Senators at thirty
- 25:24Speaker 2: twenty two and nine. The trade deadline brought them Warren
- 25:27Speaker 2: Fullgal from the Los Angeles Kings. David Paran shipped out
- 25:31Speaker 2: back to Detroit one day prior getting back a conditional
- 25:35Speaker 2: fourth round draft pick in this next summer's NHL entry drafts,
- 25:40Speaker 2: So a lot to sift through here for this second
- 25:43Speaker 2: of two matchups. The crack And looking for a split
- 25:45Speaker 2: after falling in a shootout back in October in Ottawa
- 25:49Speaker 2: and aiming for their third win in four games in
- 25:53Speaker 2: this six game homestand it looks like, according to reports,
- 25:56Speaker 2: the crack In may have to wait for Bobby McMahon's debut.
- 25:59Speaker 2: He is going through immigration clearance, so we'll keep our
- 26:02Speaker 2: eyes here on the situation before he jumps in as
- 26:05Speaker 2: the newest member of the Kraken once again.
- 26:08Speaker 3: Face on for this evening little.
