- 2:37puff print. So I know, I'm like just rubbing on my chest right

- 2:55again, crow Nerds dot com thank you word app as they say in these
- 3:00internet streets. But yeah, we're back. This is a very special episode.
- 3:04I know that people, you know, we're wondering what happened to views
- 3:07from the six one, sixth last? So what happened to episode was the
- 3:10three? What happened last week? What happened episode three? Yeah, because
- 3:14you know, we've been reviewing nit Fury's adventures for the last few weeks and
- 3:19then last week we just didn't And so I know some people might have been
- 3:23like, yo, what's up. You know, y'all just don't leave us
- 3:25hanging. And no, of course we're not gonna leave your hanging, but
- 3:28we've had to take a step back. As they say, this is the
- 3:31tenth year you know what I mean, the tenth year of four All Nerds
- 3:39show formerly known as that other show. And yeah, it's a lot sometimes
- 3:46one that's just off the break, you know, doing this show every week
- 3:50can be a bit stressful. As much as I love doing it, I
- 3:53know, as much as Tai Town I loves doing it, there's a lot
- 3:55of work that goes home behind the scenes. You know. We recently started
- 3:59doing these shirts and everything that's merged ourselves you know, no longer at that
- 4:02other site. You know, shout out to our business partner, Kevin get
- 4:05to the peril. But it's been a lot of work doing that, you
- 4:09know what I mean. So that's one thing. And then on another note,
- 4:13there is the WGA, the Writer's Deal of America strike, which is
- 4:17going on right now. If you follow me on Twitter, you see my
- 4:19profile picture is, you know, supporting the WGA. I've been doing everything
- 4:24I can to support them, and I've been sharing a lot of content and
- 4:27information from lots of folks in the WA and all the strike, everything happens
- 4:32with the strike, I've been sharing own a regular basis, Yes, and
- 4:35it obviously affects both of us, you know, directly as creatives and everything.
- 4:41And we are also on the other side of defense, where we are
- 4:44journalists to a degree, where we're you know, historians, we're all talking
- 4:47about everything culture, yeah, you know all that, and so we're like
- 4:55working at the behest or you know, in conjunction with these giant the operations
- 5:00with the ops. So yeah, you know, we are working for the
- 5:04ops, you know in a lot of cases, you know, shout outs
- 5:08to Disney. We love y'all, But you know, they ain't paying these
- 5:11people. You know, Disney just did this, I mean even Secret Invasion
- 5:14y'all. Like the intro was done by Ai Shure, there was somebody.
- 5:19I mean a lot of intros are to me, but that's beside the point.
- 5:21Like, you know, some people are sitting there someone type that stripped
- 5:26in. You know, it's like, YO, give us this year.
- 5:28Yeah, that's prompt, but still a lot less workers were involved. Now
- 5:31a lot less more people are out of work because and this at the same
- 5:35time when writers are on strike that they choose to do this. So really
- 5:40just like we don't give a fuck. And that's been one of my big
- 5:44issues with this strike is that a lot of people and I understand why don't
- 5:47give a fuck. And as time moves on, and as it goes on,
- 5:51less and less people will give because people got other things to worry about.
- 5:56The news is always giving you something else to worry about. The cycle
- 5:59keeps moving. Right now, it's going on going on like three it's an
- 6:05eighty seventh day. I want to say, I look it up. Yea,
- 6:10So right now the bithiness in the news is the Actors Guild might go
- 6:14on stripe joining them, because everyone is having issues with these opts right now,
- 6:17with these big corporations, So everyone's trying to figure it out, what's
- 6:21trying to happen with AI, all these other issues that are coming up.
- 6:26The fact that writers in general, I mean with the writer's gild, there's
- 6:30just so many issues the way the systems being run. It's just very difficult
- 6:32for anyone to come up from the bottom to make it to the top,
- 6:36even once you get in the door. And it used to not be like
- 6:39that, but now it's very tough. So and I mean getting in the
- 6:43doors damn near impossible. So once you get in the door and people like
- 6:46yourself and Mellow literally had a once in a lifetime opportunity of how you guys
- 6:51got in the door, that's not normal the way York story, and you
- 6:55know, I won't go into the weeds on that, but the point is
- 6:58it's not it's not easy on a red the day, and y'all went through
- 7:01like the catacombs of what the possibilities could have been for you guys to become
- 7:06writers. So yeah, and through that you learn how difficult it is in
- 7:12the industry. And so that's why I mean, I'm so for this writer
- 7:16strike, and so that's why it's a problem, because we're sitting here promoting
- 7:19these shows, promoting these streaming services that are making all these millions, all
- 7:25these billions, and will not pay these people who are allowing them to make
- 7:30all this money. Yeah, so it becomes this fucking conundrum because it's like,
- 7:33I want to watch Secret Invasion. You know, I'm interested in it.
- 7:36I love the MCU, I love Marvel in general, so I want
- 7:40to watch it. I know people who worked on a lot of these shows
- 7:43for that matter, so it's like I want to support them. Yeah,
- 7:46I could say it's a catch twenty two because you want to support them.
- 7:47And also all this stuff is predates the strike, so it's being released now,
- 7:53you're seeing it now. But this this has been in the just in
- 7:56terms of being written, shot, editing, whatever, it's a it's been
- 8:00done. They just press play and have it on Disney Plus, and of
- 8:03course just want to update. The strike has been going on for two months,
- 8:05one week in three days. Yeah, okay, So with that that's
- 8:11where we run into this issue. And then at the same time, we
- 8:13also just had to take a step back and be like, look, you
- 8:16know, how are we doing this? Are we do? We have to
- 8:20sit here and do these reviews, reviews our diamond doesn't on the net,
- 8:22you know, let's be honest. And at this point, even from people
- 8:26of color, they're becoming a diamond, doesn't. I don't think anyone doesn't
- 8:30like us, No, but I also think our energy can be put to
- 8:33doing things a different and better way, because I don't think anyone doesn't like
- 8:37us in general. So yeah, and also it's because we're speaking like candidly
- 8:45to everyone's listening, just about the monotony of it, right, like kind
- 8:50of kind of cheadmill running right, like, yeah, it's it's and and
- 8:54and in one way, it's like, Okay, it's a comfort zone for
- 8:58a lot of people and us sometimes it's like you know what to expect,
- 9:00you know how we're gonna do it. Okay, great, you know how
- 9:03it's gonna go. But then it's also like, but it's always the same
- 9:07thing all the time, right, And sure you can say, well,
- 9:11if it ain't broke, don't fix it, but it's also just like,
- 9:13but what if I get broke because I'm still doing stuff the same way and
- 9:16not finding as much joy as I normally would, right, So what we
- 9:22have been talking about is different ways we can present our views of these shows
- 9:26and still talk about it, still do reviews, but maybe not in the
- 9:30same exact format a different way. So that's why we're we took a step
- 9:33back and it was like, Okay, how can we go about this and
- 9:35work. We're actually going to be trying a lot of different things to do
- 9:37it. You're gonna see more things like videos from from us, especially me
- 9:41and yeah and yeah, we talked about that, so you're gonna be seeing
- 9:46a lot more. But you know, also it's just like we're not gonna
- 9:50stop podcasting. It's also just like what can we do better? Right?
- 9:54And we often ask everyone who listens, like what do you want? How
- 9:56do you want to hear it from us? I know you like us and
- 10:00our viewpoint and how we deliver that's fine, but like, it's there a
- 10:03different and better way that that you know you would find enjoyable. We've have
- 10:07our own ideas and we're probably going to implement some of that, but we're
- 10:11also curious as to what everyone listening things. Yes for real, because we
- 10:16like doing a forty minute review of a show like Secret evasion, which this
- 10:20week because like twenty something minutes. Sam. First of all, it was
- 10:22wild short, and I was just like, like I was. It was
- 10:26a little bit of jarring. I said, Oh, that's it, okay,
- 10:28great, Yeah, But also this show has been a bit slow for
- 10:33me. It's been boring on the uptake, I told Ben, I mean
- 10:39the last episode I fell asleep on and I wasn't tired. So I don't
- 10:43know what that means in this grand scheme of things, but that's how I
- 10:46felt this this week's episode. What episode four, Let's cool? That's Cool's
- 10:54school? Like now, everything you say, I fully agree with you,
- 11:00Like I think this show has had some things that has done well, like
- 11:03this week. I really enjoyed the conversation between Nick and his wife. Yes,
- 11:09that was actually really good. Yeah. I wish that could have gone
- 11:11on a little bit longer and we had less to some of the ham handedness
- 11:16of once again Taylor's you know, like singing and dancing from mass out here,
- 11:20like why it's so oh my god? Like is Taylor's a coon?
- 11:24Like I don't understand. No, not a coon, what's the word he
- 11:28is? Assimilationist? No, no, no. In the boondocks. What's
- 11:31the guy that talks like that? And he got his eye uncle Rockets?
- 11:35Is he the of Okay, maybe he's a And the only reason I say
- 11:43that is because and yes, y'all were talking about ult invasion right now,
- 11:46we're quick and just what we've seen thus far. Because the man and i'd
- 11:54like you said, tap dancing like he really people believed in humanity, Like,
- 11:58oh, they're gonna see heart, nigga, they're gonna understand that we
- 12:01hear for them. And I look like the way he don't look at him,
- 12:05I said, nigga, they don't care about you. What what did
- 12:09Michael Jacks say? All I want to say is that the fans care about
- 12:13us. We don't care Taylors and that just don't really care. And yes,
- 12:16will there be people who will see your point of view and try to
- 12:20help you. Yes, in typical Disney fashion. Sure, after half of
- 12:24y'all niggas is dead. Shout out to my man well Burn, who thinks
- 12:28to show we were talking about it earlier today and he thinks the show is
- 12:31during the end with the president given the speech, straws are cool, basically,
- 12:35you know, he literally said, and I Honestly, I felt very
- 12:41very stereotypical Michael Xis when he said that shit. Because when he was just
- 12:46like, if we just we just chip in and do our partner, they'll
- 12:50see our heart. I said, nigga, grab a gun and shoot.
- 12:52What are you talking about? That's when I when I said earlier in our
- 12:56review, when I'm like a funk with GRAVI I'm like, all that raw
- 12:58ro don't mean shit to me. That's not you. Not about that action.
- 13:01You're about that slow change, which is sometimes necessarily I get it,
- 13:05but and maybe it's as a as a black American person knowing the history of
- 13:09what I know and also my personality combined with that, I'm like, fuck
- 13:13that piece of shit, bro. You are squall. You got fucking superpowers
- 13:18off rip and that's before your superscull fucking use that shit. Shit I would
- 13:24get into my god. See, that's my thing. My problem with this
- 13:28whole thing is like Gravick is way too They're both way to extreme, Like
- 13:31Taylor's way too much of a sucker, correct and Gravick, Yes, it's
- 13:35way too much of a monster. The terrorists, yeah, because all like
- 13:39they like Gravick one already the nigga got Chernobyl. You can go live there.
- 13:45Nobody's trying to come fuck with you in it. You could have just
- 13:48lived there and just shut and then okay, you can show your scroll face
- 13:52all you want and then whenever you want, you can go out of the
- 13:54society and live it up. Nigga, I'm Drake, I'll check you.
- 14:00But that's what I'm saying. I'm showing that the club is Drake and it's
- 14:03twenty goons, you know what I mean, And niggas is letting me in
- 14:05giving me bottles. I'm living it up that night and I'm going back to
- 14:09Chernobyl. So I do agree with you. Like even though I like graphics
- 14:13energy, it's too much. It's way too much. It's ridiculous. And
- 14:18that's the other hand, he's he's too soft to me, and that's the
- 14:20problem because it's like you have this that's why the show to me, it's
- 14:24like it struggles to keep my interests because graphic it's just all the way wrong.
- 14:28There's no way I can say, oh, yeah, okay, I
- 14:31can see that. Like I said, once you start talking about nuke and
- 14:35dogs, you lost me fan. So I can't really agree like like the
- 14:39four legged animals. Yeah, like dogs, like dogs. You cannot touch
- 14:43my dogs. No, you can't touch dogs, like what they done to
- 14:46you that you know what I mean? You can't touch birds, like,
- 14:48there's a lot of things in nature that I just like, No, you
- 14:52can't birds, trees, dog. You can't be out here nuke and trees.
- 14:56Dog. No, No, I can't. But I get it.
- 15:00That's no. And I can't imagine that's how his plan it is either.
- 15:03But whatever beside the point, right, it's just made his ship don't made
- 15:07no sense, And because of that, I can't really get with it.
- 15:11This whole furious, tired and washed thing is like getting boring. We know
- 15:16he's not gonna be that tired or washed where he's get murd and then it's
- 15:20just like graphic this episode has super stroll powers, but for some reason doesn't
- 15:26just unleash them all and kill the president. He used arguably one of the
- 15:31weakest powers at least not weak overall, but the weakest in that situation.
- 15:37Like he did a little group razzle dazzle and then that was it. And
- 15:41I'm like, you could have wiped them off the face of the earth.
- 15:43But is group razzle dazzle and you could have that with group. Yes,
- 15:48but like who he has the Extrogen project, he has Group, he has
- 15:50some other extream extre e extremis, some other stuff. He got the he
- 15:54got the Thanos kid, the big giant strong one, and he got some
- 16:00ice giant ship or something. Right, he's a forest giant. Yeah.
- 16:04I I just want to go back real quick to what the what I really
- 16:08did, Like when that conversation between Nick Fury and his wife, do you
- 16:14think, and this is just an offhand question, do you think for all
- 16:18the years that this scroll has assumed the life of this black woman, that
- 16:22she was able to understand and adopt what it means to be black? Yes,
- 16:26like she understand Like when they were talking, I was she was giving
- 16:30me like I was just like, you know, just certain things just as
- 16:33and I'm like black Americans particularly, but black people that we just inherently know
- 16:38by just by virtue of living with each other, socializing all the other stuff.
- 16:42And there's a there's a cadence of blackness that can't be taught. Right,
- 16:48Was she able to pick up on that? Was she giving you that
- 16:52a little bit? Yeah, she was a little bit like like she understood
- 16:55the code. Like I don't, ye I felt that, but I think
- 16:57and that's for my whole him with Taylos is just Taylor's clearly understands the code
- 17:03of the streets. He understands that race is an issue in this world.
- 17:07And yet he's like, oh, you know, but these shape shifters will
- 17:11be adopted, nigga. What I feel like she fully understands, you know.
- 17:15I think her choosing to be a black woman and going under that you
- 17:19know, pressure is part of it. Like another one the strongs playing roads,
- 17:23the you know, I guess the woman's a woman. Yeah, Like
- 17:29she was stressed. She was like, fuck, I gotta put on this
- 17:30road face again and go out of rand these fucking people and this, you
- 17:34know, and I'm a nigger, you know what I mean. Like I
- 17:40mean, wouldn't you be like man, you know, like if you got
- 17:41to go be a black person in America, you know what I mean,
- 17:45and you're not, it's an old dog. It ain't like you know,
- 17:48like if you're not and then you got to be, that's you know,
- 17:52that's stressed. I would pay you could just rip people's heads off to imagine
- 17:56that to your s you could just like slap these niggas across the room,
- 18:00and the white people looking crazy at you because you know you walk in the
- 18:02room. Gravic was punching bulletproof glass to get the president out of with no
- 18:07problem, and he was already fucked up, like reverting, reverting, like
- 18:14humidity hits natural hair. It was like Hollywood Shuffle, and the nigga took
- 18:21his Jerry Curl at the fade away from him. Please, let's please.
- 18:26And you have not seen Hollywood Shuffle, have you? I have. I
- 18:30watched it years ago. When you when I when I watching, I did.
- 18:36But okay, well yeah, yeah, I know what a dude.
- 18:37You know that's Jerry Curl and it's all pristine, and that shi is one
- 18:41of the funniest shots in movie history because it's like Robert Townsend has his activator
- 18:45and uh Kenan Ivory, Wayne's planning to do it and his so his Jerry
- 18:49Curl's pure stree earlier. Yes, but it's in every shot they cut back
- 18:53to Robert, and then when they cut back to Keenan, it's worse,
- 18:56worse than worse worse, it's bigger and bigger, it's taking more afro or
- 19:00more and more. Well that's what Gravick was doing when he got shot in
- 19:07the army. Taylor's thinking whatever the f and then you know, and that's
- 19:11when I'm like, I'm like, that's so naive and unnecessary to be so
- 19:17soft as Taylor's because I'm like, in the fucking the same fucking fight where
- 19:21a moment ago you were shooting at Gravick, Grabbic can assume the view graphic
- 19:26can assume the personhood of a random shoulder that's on your side and infiltrate.
- 19:30It was seconds I forgot the nigga was not over there no more. If
- 19:34I'm sure, if I watched that scene back, I will see when he
- 19:37walked over and change and shape shifted that power. That's why I said that
- 19:41was me. Yeah me, Nika. Yeah No, you can't. There's
- 19:47no way humanity is going to accept that. Like I get it, the
- 19:52MCU. Humanity has been through a lot of shit, but no, no,
- 19:57fam you could be any one instantly and then not be you know,
- 20:06right, Yeah, Drake run up slaps some woman on the street. It's
- 20:11the deep fake in real life. Oh my god, it's like the words,
- 20:14that's what that's what's crazy about because people is getting hemmed up by deep
- 20:18fix online. Imagine that in real life, instantaneous at any given point that's
- 20:25your neighbor, any point that makes them bad. But that's just the mentality
- 20:30that And people don't like people that look right like just like them. So
- 20:33what people think they're gonna like you as a family That that's a negative viewpoint.
- 20:37But I'm just being fucking real. Let's be real. You could ruin
- 20:42anyone's life instantly, you know, sex tapes could slapping people on the street.
- 20:49You love to slap people. I can see where you're gonna do when
- 20:52you're a come Like if you just imagine, like you know, Union squear
- 20:56Drake runs up out of this in subway, you know someone's gonna have it
- 21:00on record, and I got got got it on care. I think it's
- 21:07like I was in Turks, best I ever had and it runs off.
- 21:12Okay, But even like, even if you and I speaking on this from
- 21:18a vacuum, like and again from from the real world perspective, we're also
- 21:23speaking very stereotypically and negatively about it, like and we're speaking in hypotheticals work
- 21:30that any President Obama couldn't convince me that one if he's like Yo, a
- 21:34million strolls from A through FAM like Obama, I guess like I mes Nah,
- 21:45Barry, I can't get FAM. I cannot. That's a little while,
- 21:51bro. And I'm saying like just us in a hypothetical or having a
- 21:57hard even jokes, we're having a hard time. I'm accepting that what makes
- 22:00paylos think? But all they know like you understanding black experience, but you
- 22:07don't understand that you're not gonna be accepting no matter how much good you do.
- 22:11Will there be people who fuck with you, walk with you? Sure?
- 22:14Is it gonna be enough? All right? I've got two questions so
- 22:18we can get out of this to keep this as short as street as possible.
- 22:22One is Taylo's dead? No what, I don't know how it's gonna
- 22:26happen. They gonna they gonna do him like they did. What's the nigga?
- 22:33What's his name? Um? That was in walking Dad that got free
- 22:37and he shouldn't have made it. Glenn. They're gonna Glenn that nigga.
- 22:41They already Glenda. They didn't Glenn. And that's why. Okay, let's
- 22:45go back to that real kick because you and I spoke offline about this.
- 22:48Yeah, I told you over and over she was not Damn. I pretty
- 22:52much figured too, And I'm just I just accepted it was terrible. But
- 22:56you know I didn't know it's because she you know, Yeah, I will
- 23:00give him credit back. She got super sold. Yeah, that made sense.
- 23:04I'll give him. I'll give him the credit. Told you that happened.
- 23:07Yeah, Now Taylor's has no access to that machine. You don't know
- 23:11what's happening though, that man is dead. If he ain't dead, I'm
- 23:15like, no, this all right? Anyway? Second question, how long
- 23:18has Rhodes been a scrawl all his life? That's why my thing is though,
- 23:26like you can tell no see wait, that's why he didn't understand blackness.
- 23:30So when my man said give me back my roadie, roads are just
- 23:33like yeah, okay, but my thing is like the longest say, for
- 23:41example, he has been a scroll for like years years, man right to
- 23:45say he has been a scroll for like years and years. Where's the real
- 23:48roadie? And what already dead? If it's been years and years, he
- 23:52did he just locked up in like Jesus, you know what I'm saying.
- 23:56Not real like like is he Earth? He in stasis like these in the
- 24:00basement? Is this after end game? Like it's been a few years since
- 24:04end game? Now, Wait, so we're going with the assumption that perhaps
- 24:08Rodi has been a scroll for years. I'm saying five plus five plus,
- 24:14you're going before you know, during the blip, at some point he got
- 24:18replaced. No, like during the five years he got replaced. Yeah,
- 24:22and so that means the Rodie we saw an end game was a scroll.
- 24:26Then that's actually a huge opening for scrolls in general. Like the blip happened,
- 24:32and they just assumed identity of half of Earth. But they but they
- 24:37also couldn't because the niggas dropped blipped, you know, you couldn't be like,
- 24:41yo, I'm replacing this nigga, you know what I mean? When
- 24:44he got snapped, that's I'm saying. When because half the strolls got snapped
- 24:48two one, Well, okay, I forgot all of it. I forgot
- 24:52and then they couldn't really jump into the place and somebody because people knew that
- 24:56person got snapped for the most part, right, right, right, you're
- 24:57right, you're right, you're right. I forgot it was I'm thinking about
- 25:00humans only no, all living things, all living things party. So them
- 25:03niggas are sitting around wherever they was, and it was just like fuck,
- 25:07you know, just like the us, like they allays, you know,
- 25:10Drake once again about to slap somebody, And if I d of, it
- 25:14would be like this piece sign and I'll be out fade out like that.
- 25:18Boy, I would absolutely fade out, Like I tell you, Drake was
- 25:21running up the subway stairs and what is your infatuation with Drake slapping people?
- 25:29Just? You know? Okay? So yeah, the one assumption is he's
- 25:34been a scroll for years, like talking five plus. The other assumption is
- 25:38for a relatively shorter period of time. Yes, he's been a scroll,
- 25:42and I'm leaning more in that way just because like even when he makes sense,
- 25:48but also even when he was talking to Fury, I was, I
- 25:51was. I didn't automatically think scroll, but I was like, he's talking
- 25:53kind of funny, like why is he so aggy? It was just me
- 25:56just saying why is he so aggy? Like I understand that he has a
- 25:59job and he's he's he's fed and all this now, but he's too aggy
- 26:03for my taste. Even as a former Avenger, like I don't you.
- 26:07He was moving too funny styles for him. But hey, there's another question,
- 26:11right, she said Furious. I said that their whole marriage was her
- 26:17trying to get close, to get close to this dude. Yes, so
- 26:19how long have they been married, Fury and his wife? Yeah, then
- 26:23they showed what was that the nineties when they that because he was young,
- 26:29Fury was the way he looked in them in the Miss Marvel movie. That's
- 26:33what's that Fury? That guy. But then when they met to start holler,
- 26:37and I think they showed twenty twelve, I'd have to check out.
- 26:38Oh yeah, oh when they showed because he has the leather on. Yeah,
- 26:42that was like last week Fury Prime. Yeah, when they showed him.
- 26:47No, I mean that was Oh that was even more recent. That
- 26:48was even that was this week when he That was after the Adventures, after
- 26:52the First Avenger, So they knew each other at least since the First Avengers.
- 26:56So yeah before that, yeah, before that, I mean before that.
- 27:00But like they've been hollering since around the first Avengers, right, yes,
- 27:03I think, yeah, that's at the very least, So that means
- 27:10could have been a stroll for a long time too, and that's why I'm
- 27:12like, I mean, we can't discount it that that that could be a
- 27:15thing. Then, but that goes back to what I said, Well,
- 27:18if that's the case, is the real road alive or is he shouldn't you
- 27:22say he did? But I mean if it's been years saying from arm ain't
- 27:26the way they're keeping somebody alive for years? But what though, like,
- 27:30yeah, I know, but it's just And then that meant that why is
- 27:33graphic so damn body over the world? What would armor Wards be about?
- 27:38Then? Like Rhodes would have no connection to anything. Yeah, and that's
- 27:42why that might not work either, Yeah, because he would not know any
- 27:45of these people. Then you know what I mean, Like if he's been
- 27:48out of this before, but since Terrence Howard, that would have strong started.
- 27:57Is that not only did Terrace Howard get pruned, you got replaced immediately?
- 28:08I think I think when when when Don Cheetle walks in and tells him
- 28:15deal with it, that I'm here to deal with it. The first introduction,
- 28:18I think it's a scrawl from there. That's my work. Yeah,
- 28:21that's my working theory. From the first moment we ever saw Don Cheetle,
- 28:25He's been a scrawl. That's the beauty of like asmkinga like like scrolls.
- 28:34Right, it's the same thing as the multiverse. It's like you can reckon
- 28:37anything. Yeah, it doesn't work though in the Comma Books when the Secretnovation
- 28:41and the Comma Books happened. Uh frank uh not Franklin. What's Johnny Storm?
- 28:47Johnny Storm, the Human Torch was married. No, because Reid ensue
- 28:53son is Franklin. Okay, Yeah, so Johnny Storm is married to a
- 28:57woman, Alicia Masters Ali she used to be the Thing's girlfriend and then Alicia
- 29:04Masters. I never thought about it like that, but true, think about
- 29:07it. It is so Alicia Masters is married to Johnny Storm for like a
- 29:12hundred issues or something until Secret Invasion happens, and then the red con comes
- 29:17in that she has been a sprawled this whole fucking time. But when you
- 29:21go back and read those hundred issues or so, it works in some instance,
- 29:25has been in some it's like, well it's film, it's a sprawl
- 29:26right here, there's no race. She would have done this, you know.
- 29:29Yeah, So it just doesn't work all the way through. It just
- 29:33like doesn't curl over all the you know. Yeah, and if you make
- 29:37if if Rose has been a sprawl since don Chea who was an introduction as
- 29:41hilarious it was, it would be it does not make sense, no at
- 29:45all. But I don't think much of this show does either. So we'll
- 29:48see what happened. But and again, the shortness of this episode irritated me.
- 29:53We only got two left, I mean, and I can't say,
- 29:56like peoples like, well you felt super lost one? What does it matter?
- 29:57Was long? I'm like, because I'm waiting for some fucking substance and
- 30:00I thought I had more time. It's like, oh, we shot tailors
- 30:04and seen roll credits and roll ten minutes worth of credits because you need credits
- 30:11for every language that the show is streamed in. Yeah, that's the other
- 30:15part, because if you look at like the scrub bar, that's the timeline,
- 30:18there's a lot of actually like show left. So I'm like, all
- 30:22right. Even the end of this one, it was like there was music
- 30:26playing on the Black Spring and I was like, okay, there's gonna be
- 30:27another Oh no credits, okay, yeah, And we scrubbed forward just in
- 30:32cases, you know, sometimes maybe they'll do something for me. No,
- 30:36that's it, So I don't know what's happening. I know what's happening,
- 30:38and I just don't care. I'm talking about with the structure of this series.
- 30:41Oh yeah, yeah, No, we'll see, like like we'd like
- 30:45to say on the show, we'd like to finish and then we'll judge.
- 30:48So we got two more episodes. Maybe they're gonna pull out some miracles and
- 30:52they last two it didn't work for Moon Night. You know, I pretty
- 30:55much knew that wasn't gonna pull out the miracles. Sad, I'm sorry now,
- 30:59hindsight one outside the fucking did Power Rangers at the end. They did
- 31:03a lot, they did Mega Swords at the end, But I also knew
- 31:08that it was to be a struggle for them to recoop with those last two
- 31:11episodes. So it wasn't you know, I didn't have much suspect this.
- 31:15I'm kind of feeling the same way. I'm hoping for the best but expecting
- 31:21hot mess. I think that's a perfect wrap up to that, And I
- 31:26mean, yeah, what else did we see this week? For last week?
- 31:30That was last week and we got to see Mission Impossible. I can't
- 31:37remember Mission Impossible the Dead Reckoning Part one, Dead Reckoning, right, Yeah,
- 31:47one. I didn't realize that was let me tell you, I didn't
- 31:48realize that I walton that bitch. That was a part one. I said
- 31:52they cut, they chopped. I didn't realize that. And I'm like,
- 31:55they really selling the work on us. Like, but I liked the mission
- 31:59impossible sire because I love it and I like it. Tom Cruise is a
- 32:02serious because it progressively recognizes how ridiculous and utterly over the top. It is
- 32:09similar to a Fast and Furious and it leans into it and it's self aware
- 32:15that it is fucking ridiculous. It hadn't been this bad on the Fast and
- 32:20Furious stale until this point. No, this one was this one Fast and
- 32:24Furious Lights. I fully expected Vendi's to the walk in at some point like
- 32:28this one was outrageousness like Fast and Furious Light and just I mean, just
- 32:32just let y'all know, we might say a spoiler. So yeah, but
- 32:37again there's okay. Like the last one, I thought it is one of
- 32:42my favorite movies of all time, and it has basically no plot. The
- 32:45plot is there's some new tickets stolen. If Tom doesn't get him back,
- 32:49it's just set off something that will destroy the World bloom Let's drove is that
- 32:52the one with Rommy Mallet with Henry Caville. No, see now you're minting
- 32:58bond? Yeah yeah, no U the last with Henry Caville and okay yeah.
- 33:06It was Superman and it's one of my favorite act movies ever. He
- 33:09had the mustache, he had to pump up his arm with the guns when
- 33:14he you know, when he does the flex and a pocket appears on his
- 33:16shirt like that. It's one of my favorite films ever. It's just from
- 33:21beginning to end. Damn near action. It's just dope. It doesn't need
- 33:23it. This one I felt like had way too much plot and way too
- 33:30much because it was leaning into such ridiculousness. Like the one thing I gotta
- 33:35call out is there's one thing in an airport where one of the villains is
- 33:38being masked by this AI, Like this AI is erasing all the camera footage
- 33:44of him as he goes along, and it's like the characters had to explain
- 33:47this because it's so ridiculous. And when you do stuff like that, when
- 33:52the dialogue, when characters is sitting there telling you what's happening on screen instead
- 33:54of the showing you, but it's so utterly ridiculous that they have to say
- 33:59it so you somewhat believe it. It's when I'm like, you know,
- 34:04this is fast and furious, because definitely they're doing every fast and furious movie
- 34:07and I didn't expect that from this. It was way too much of that
- 34:09for me. But yeah, when it got to it, yeah, sorry,
- 34:14go ahead. Oh when it got to it, I mean, it's
- 34:15fucking mission impossible. It's Tom Cruise. Just the director McGee. He did
- 34:21he did, you know, the last one, which is my favorite one.
- 34:23So this was like a different he did, same director. Oh yeah,
- 34:29he might as well have been two people. I thought, I mean,
- 34:31I thought it was it was different this time. I thought the styles
- 34:35were the same. I thought, yeah, and okay, maybe I'm thinking
- 34:37of the writing. Then this is the writing is way different, right,
- 34:43because, like I said, this movie spent so much time explaining ship,
- 34:45but it has such a ridiculous premise that you had to explain it. And
- 34:50even though I just felt like they didn't need every ridiculous premise, just do
- 34:53me the same thing, new something, you know, let's get to it.
- 34:55I don't know, it's just ai shit, it was like whatever dog
- 34:59who cares the more you I'm listening to you and your first expression when you
- 35:04were like, even though the movie has been it's it's been more so literally
- 35:07you know, started to use the name in the explanation, but it has
- 35:13been impossible feats, right, like increasingly impossible feats, but still a good,
- 35:19like thinking movie. I guess whereas this film no, no, no,
- 35:23there's no thinking. There's no thinking. It's more thinking than it wasn't
- 35:30this. And I say that in the sense of this felt way more fast
- 35:32and furious than the Ladder, and I think it's not. And by that,
- 35:37I just mean like the characters know they're being fucking silly. That's it's
- 35:43yeah, because it's not that it's thinking, because the last one is like
- 35:45I remember boys that there is no plot to this movie, and I was
- 35:47like, there, you know, maybe I'm thinking. My point is the
- 35:55characters take still take themselves a little seriously in the self aware that they're becoming.
- 36:00They're very self aware of that a I'm a I'm a I'm halfway clown
- 36:05in this ship. It's like once the Fast It's once again like when Fast
- 36:07and Furious, when Tyrese started realizing that they were kind of immortal, you
- 36:12know. Once he started talking about it on screen, that's when it became
- 36:15like, I, you know, even the character like y'all are in on
- 36:20it, right, and like that there's that reference we see in the commercial
- 36:22where he's like, by gone rogue and he's like they always go rogue and
- 36:27three times. Yeah, But it was that yeah, And it's not necessarily
- 36:31a thing. It was just something I observed and what I mostly observed,
- 36:36which is why I felt when I realized, oh, these these characters know
- 36:38what the fuck's going on? Was when like the first hell her first thirty
- 36:45minutes, they were speaking really weird. And when I say weird, I
- 36:47mean hushed tones and speaking at level two but very seriously and very direct and
- 36:52focused. What do you mean, Joe, do you mean this is the
- 36:55end of the world? We have a new coming on the subway of on
- 37:00A summary was like, why are you talking like that? Like it was
- 37:05like, you know you're a cartoon character, and you are explaining to me
- 37:08as a viewer that you know that you are a cartoon character, that you
- 37:13know that I know that you are a cartoon character. It's because it's so
- 37:15much ridiculous exposition, so they're trying to do it in cool ways, like
- 37:20but it's like, you know, like why you're not that man, bro,
- 37:23like why are you speaking like that? It was it was like heavy
- 37:27handed, but then it was just like oh then you know. Then the
- 37:30next the literally minute one after the first thirty, it was like ha ha,
- 37:34we know we're fucking clowns. We're gonna keep it going. Like I
- 37:37was like, oh, like I knew it, like I felt I felt
- 37:39that whatever again, writing style completely different, but I have felt the break
- 37:44when it was like the person was like I'm jumping off the page now,
- 37:47I'm chhok, like I I don't know. I don't know if I was
- 37:52supposed to the curtain was supposed to lift back for me like that, but
- 37:54maybe that was an intention. I don't know. It didn't ruin anything,
- 37:59but I was It's like I felt weird, like do y'all know y'all sound
- 38:01stupid right now? Like do y'all know y'all sound like you're you're playing but
- 38:06also taking yourself seriously, but playing about taking yourself seriously. It's like,
- 38:09well, that's why are we doing this game right now? Exposition is very
- 38:13hard to deliver, you know, and deliver it well. And it's also
- 38:16when the exposition when the plot that you're delivering is so ridiculous, like this
- 38:21one was, like this was it was just one of the dumbest ais you
- 38:25know, you called it the chat GBT. It was so ridiculous. It
- 38:30was so slow and so like so the movie can happen type things, and
- 38:36like I said, fuck all that, because once you get past that,
- 38:39once we get to these big asset pieces. I mean, it was just
- 38:44it was pure joy for me. As always, there's a car chase scene
- 38:47in Rome that it is just fucking perfection. I thought the addition of what's
- 38:52her name of agent Carter haleyoutwell, I liked her, I love her,
- 38:59I love her and in general, but I really love her. I loved
- 39:02her in this. I love her in general, but I thought she was,
- 39:06you know, amazing in this that in that car chase scene, she
- 39:10like proved it because I felt it like that was it was. That's one
- 39:15of my favorite car chase. I love a good car chaise, and that's
- 39:17trying to go at the top of the list. And then there's this trained
- 39:22sequence towards the end of the film that it's just fucking it's just incredible shit,
- 39:28you know, Like, so it delivered to me on what it needed
- 39:30to. It was. I felt like maybe there was just one more ill
- 39:35set piece or one ill villain, because I think Henry Caville really um elevated
- 39:40the last one this one, and also Shorty, who's more like an anti
- 39:46hero, she elevated the last one. I liked seeing her again, the
- 39:50blonde woman who's all mysterious, the arms dealer who makes the fixer, who's
- 39:54makes everything happened, palm palm tie. Amazing in this one. I wish
- 40:01she had more announce her last name, but yeah, yeah, I wish
- 40:06she had more time, more more mantis, I mean, amazing in this
- 40:08one as well. I wish she'd had more time. Yeah, she was
- 40:13good. She was a good little terminator. Yeah, and I think I
- 40:15think it was because the main villain who were supposed to hate I just didn't
- 40:19give a shit about that dude. So it mean the main villain that was
- 40:22from the first movie, but no, he's set off that set off time
- 40:27in the first one. But he didn't see he's not in that movie.
- 40:31That's all. Secondly, whatever, I don't I don't think as far as
- 40:35I know that dude's never been in these movies before. Maybe not. But
- 40:37the point is they keep using that flashback, so he's pseudo in the movie,
- 40:42right, He's like, but really think I set the fuck off in
- 40:45the first place. He's the reason that Ethan joins the m I versation the
- 40:49first place. That was never shown before. But now it's like, we're
- 40:51supposed to care. That's not the first time this movie is in the first
- 40:53time they shown him it was I don't know which one they showed him before,
- 40:57or the flashback of him, but they've shown him before. I've never
- 41:00I didn't know that because I never cared about this girl. I cared about
- 41:02the woman who Ethan was with in the early movies, who almost killed who
- 41:07turns back up in the last one, Like that's the girl you know for
- 41:10him. Let's talk about quote the girl. Let's talk about fridginge pseudo Fridging.
- 41:15Let's talk about if you are a woman in the Mission Possible series and
- 41:21Tom Cruise even gives you so much as a wink, your ass is dead.
- 41:24It's tight. Your ass as good as dead. Okay, but I'm
- 41:29sure he survived barely one, but yeah, she, I mean the one
- 41:32who's not in this movie, the one who he said, you know,
- 41:35get out of my life so you won't die basically sure, and Haley for
- 41:38now, like Haley gonna make it for sure because she's new home your home,
- 41:44ger that you like? Which one the one that came back? My
- 41:52point is any woman. It's tight that he even takes a shine to you
- 41:58are fucking out of here. You're gone, You're done, You're pluto.
- 42:02What's her name? Who couldn't quit chicken? What's the black woman's name?
- 42:07The woman who couldn't quit chicken? Um? The one wasn't she married to
- 42:13Robert Thick Um? Oh god, Robert Think's wife, because she was in
- 42:19one of these she was yeah, and then they wrote her out of it.
- 42:22She didn't get killed. They just like wrote her answer And I never
- 42:23said that. They brought back everybody else from Paula Patten. She needs to
- 42:29come back. She was doping that joint. So she can get killed,
- 42:31no, like she can live. She's on the team. I mean,
- 42:34fucking what's his name? And them niggas have made it through every movie ving
- 42:37Grahams and um niggas. Listen, to what you just said them niggas.
- 42:42The men is making it through every movie. The women is not. The
- 42:45women's is not. They literally replaced his road Dog with Haley at Well,
- 42:55and she's great, don't get me wrong, but it was a literal replaced.
- 43:00It was a side by side seem seemed the placement, I mean shorter,
- 43:05not always a road don't. You're trying to captain a nigga last movie
- 43:07too, so in a road dog kind of way and in a SPI versus
- 43:15five friendship kind of way, I guess. So, um yeah, mission
- 43:20impossible. You know, if you liked any of the rest of them,
- 43:22you're gonna love this ship, you know, like, yeah, I loved
- 43:25it overall fun man, like you loved it, okay overall? Yes?
- 43:30I felt that it was fun. I was. It got me engaged the
- 43:34whole entire time. Yeah. I shared my my criticism from like, you
- 43:40know, media professional standpoint, but as it's a general viewer, I have
- 43:45fun. Yeah. No, as a Mission impossible fanatic, Like I said,
- 43:49I've watched the last one. I can't tell you how many times I've
- 43:51watched the last film. It's like, if it's on, I'm going to
- 43:53watch I love it so and I've watched I think the third one with um.
- 43:59I think the third one, the one with Philip Semur Hoffman, is
- 44:01another rate one. The first one is one of my favorites, the one
- 44:06right before the last one. It's pretty good because that's the first one that
- 44:08McGee came on, and so he was just you know, he was getting
- 44:12his broken together. Now I'm thinking when you said, when you said these
- 44:15other people, I'm thinking of the bad guys of each of these films,
- 44:16and I'm mighty Gabriel is so like cartoonishly, I'm a bad guy cartoonishly That's
- 44:22that's that's Gabriel. Yeah, oh yeah, he's whack. I mean,
- 44:25Philip Philip Hoffman ruled. You know, I'm a hurter. I'm a hurder
- 44:31Like he was like, damn, okay, you asturb my guy. Yeah
- 44:35he was. He was scary. And then Henry Caville was just such a
- 44:39maniac. And the last one that I just loved him. But but what
- 44:44we're talking about true maniac. Tom Cruise is the maniac maniac of the century
- 44:50because I mean still doing own sunts and stuff like that. But he's also
- 44:53like ninety nine years old. And just going ham still running at full Tom
- 45:00Cruise speed, still doing the motorcycles and this and that and hey, power
- 45:06to the man, he laughs, in the face of death and danger.
- 45:09Good luck to you. Yeah, definitely. Uh so check it out,
- 45:15you know, gives whatever two thumbs up, all props. Not my favorite
- 45:20of the series, but in the top four, I'd say at this point,
- 45:23yeah, top four, maybe top three, so solid as fuck,
- 45:28top four, first one, the last one of all mission impossibles, first
- 45:31one, yeah, top four, yeah, first one, the last.
- 45:35What do you what do you rate? The original of Tom Cruise ups my
- 45:37mission impossible? I rate um, I rate Rogue the last one as my
- 45:42top one of them all. Then I rate probably Philip Seymour Hoffman. I'm
- 45:46a hurter, and then the first one and then this one, and even
- 45:52I'm a hurter. The women always gets sick. It is, I mean,
- 45:59Viny says, so I'm gonna hurt her. No country for any wine,
- 46:05none because she almost dies in that one, like twice I think I
- 46:07think Tom almost does. To the right. They get that bomb in the
- 46:12head thing like that ship was ruthless and man, yeah, I know you
- 46:16put that bomb in their head. No I know I was gonna say,
- 46:20that's some what's my girl? What's my girl? The suicide Squad, that's
- 46:23some Amanda Waller, that's some Amanda Waller ship man. Yeah, I'm gonna
- 46:28hurt her. Anyways, let's see. Yeah, um talk about you know,
- 46:45the ops pull them one over on people's heads, because today the Emmies
- 46:50were now and of course everyone's like, oh yay, And first of all,
- 46:54yeah, First of all, all these award shows have always been bullshit.
- 46:57Like when the Ostris was first red by this film producers. Famous pro
- 47:01was like, if I made these shiny things and give them to people,
- 47:06they'll agree to do whatever movie I want, you know. So it's always
- 47:10been yeah, a way to you know, make actors feel like they're worthy
- 47:15of something, and then they'll do whatever movie you know, these producers want
- 47:20or agree or whatever turns these people one. And so when the Emmies are
- 47:23announced today, and sure, we're happy for all the black people, were
- 47:25happy for all the shows we love, et cetera, et cetera. But
- 47:29at the same time, hay, these fucking niggas. How are you gonna
- 47:31dominate the nigga for Best writing? And you ain't paying the nigga, you're
- 47:34not paying him. It's the same or the same person or whatever. Yeah,
- 47:40you're absolutely right. And I mean just from a mechanics standpoint, as
- 47:45I kept going through the list of nominees, I kept seeing patterns. Right,
- 47:50So you have these leg well yeah, besides white people, but you
- 47:53see these legacy channels and things like that, HBO, Max, HBO Max,
- 48:00Netflix, AMC, Disney Plus. Right, and then literally in like
- 48:05whole like like squads of categories, it was like three shows. And this
- 48:09is out of the multitudes of good shows that have been out there, right,
- 48:15Like, you know how many times Succession, you know, many times
- 48:17in the same categories someone from Succession was nominated And I'm like all of them.
- 48:23And again I never came Secession Succession. And I know it's been high
- 48:29entertaining for a lot of people, not taking that away, but I'm just
- 48:31like, bro, all of the three people took out of the six slots,
- 48:36all of these people, and you couldn't put in someone and and and
- 48:38shout out to Kirk Kirk, writes M on Twitter. He's a Hollywood writer.
- 48:46I share his sentiments. He was just like, you know, how
- 48:50are two shows dominating any one category when you consider things like, for example,
- 48:55Jail Fons Nicholson and season two A Pee Valley of the Murder, Like,
- 49:01these performances in these shows that are obviously being overlooked, rise to the
- 49:07occasion if you were going to take them seriously, rise to the occasion of
- 49:10getting Emmy's rise to the occasion of being nominated. So for none of that
- 49:15to happen, and you just see succession three times and better call Saw for
- 49:17a thousand times, I'm just like, damn Gata for you know, Gata
- 49:25for one episode that was about and it was last two years ago, that
- 49:30episode just about Gator. That was phenomenal. I think that's fright. I
- 49:35think it was too old. It's just time. Yeah, But I mean
- 49:38if even in this time it wasn't it wasn't brought up well, and Or
- 49:44isn't that old. And even know and Or got nominated for some serious stuff,
- 49:46which I'm really happy to see. Uh. I felt like the Stars
- 49:51Dard is another one who got left off the Falls and Star Star you know
- 49:53for actor Stars Guard got the nomination first section. Yeah, well his son
- 50:00did right now, but the father didn't for and Or, and then Atlanta
- 50:04season three and four being left off is the most egregious thing I've ever seen,
- 50:09Like, I think those I think Atlanta is just one of the greatest
- 50:14TV shows of all time. It should have constantly been nominated every time it
- 50:17was up for anything. I think every episode of season three and four or
- 50:22we're just such they're like like timeless, you know, just pushing the envelope
- 50:29forward type TV that we just don't get. So I just and I think
- 50:34a lot of people didn't get it because of that, because it was so
- 50:37pushing the envelope for it was like when WandaVision first time, all people like
- 50:40what the ell is this? Until it like settled down into a normal show.
- 50:45And Atlanta never never settled down into a normal show. And that's why
- 50:49I loved it so much. So yeah, it's it's sad, and I
- 50:53want to just the secondary part of Kirk's tweet he had mentioned he said,
- 50:58because P Valley, I love P Valley, right, and it's a good
- 51:00series. P Valley is a show because P Valley is a show with the
- 51:05black ensemble and on starts, which is not considered a prestige network. The
- 51:08series and those actors are ignored. This is not just the fault of voters,
- 51:13but critics and pundits as well. And I also because I saw an
- 51:15email coming from you know, the ops from Apple and they were like,
- 51:20yo, we got fifty four nominations or some shit, so they're pretty high.
- 51:22You know, they're moving on up and Apple has some of the best
- 51:27shows out that no one watched it straight up and down. Like right,
- 51:30Well, Apple did get a lot of enough nominations, like they have.
- 51:34Ted Lasso got nominated, which is fantastic. Um Bad Sisters, that's on
- 51:38Apple TV. It's Apple. What's the one about the problem with John Stewart
- 51:44that's also on Apple. I didn't know about that one. The Super Bowl
- 51:47with Rihanna got nominated. Oh it was incredible, but it was still the
- 51:52Michael J. Fox movie got nominally. That's the Apple TV. What's the
- 51:55one that that showed that I've never finished? Um, that was really good.
- 52:00I watched the pilot. Um not seen I not seen sight or no
- 52:04c C. Yes see you know Cheka Leo says, I was great.
- 52:07No, it's the one about this through to this job. It's super weird,
- 52:12it's super good. It's on Apple as well. I can't remember the
- 52:15name of it. Oh well yeah, I mean I, like I said,
- 52:19I'm happy my my standouts. You mentioned the black people, but my
- 52:23standouts were Dominique Fishback. She got nomination for swarm Um. I also was
- 52:29very happy for Io Adibi adibii Um for the Bear Um and the Bear overall.
- 52:34I finished watching season two last week, so that phenomenal work and just
- 52:40you, I mean, everything about that show is the way it shot was
- 52:45shot. This season in general, Oh my god, it was just absolutely
- 52:46gorgeous and then like writing, very thought for writing, and there are a
- 52:50lot of and there's episodes that were written by black writers too, so you
- 52:53know, yeah, yeah, I saw that. I saw one of the
- 52:57writers talking about it. I've watched The Bear periphetly and I know it's great.
- 53:01Man. Yeah, I just like I say, Man, Jamie Lee
- 53:05Curtis, she did that. I got to also say she did that this
- 53:08season. Bro, You're gonna hear about this and the next yeah. Like
- 53:13yeah, like I say, and or in Atlanta not being on there like
- 53:16that well and is there a few times but it's drama. Yeah, I
- 53:21get it, and that's where it should be, you know. But we'll
- 53:22I feel like that's just like one of them. I don't feel like the
- 53:27hype is behind that, you know nomination. I mean, my thing is
- 53:30so Andor's in for Best Drama Series, but they're also next to Better Coo
- 53:36Saul, the Crown House of the Dragon, Last of Us success I mean
- 53:43it's like it's looking tight fan looking. They also have one for Best Writing
- 53:50for Drama Series SOSI. And Or is up against um, let Me Go
- 53:55Back My Fault, and Or is up against Bad Sisters on Apple TV.
- 54:00Better Call Saul twice because it's episode uh Betacles and that's what I'm saying,
- 54:07comes up twice, two episodes that they're counting. One episode of and Or
- 54:13got nominated. It doesn't say this specific episode, It just says who wrote
- 54:15it. So like for example, a Better Call Saul, it shows two
- 54:19different writers those different episodes, Um, the two different entries. The Last
- 54:23of Us is another competitive competitor, quote Succession, and then the White Lotus
- 54:28Yeah, and then the last area. Best Directing for Drama Series. Yes
- 54:32we have and Or, but it's losing Bat Sisters. The Last of Us
- 54:37Succession. Succession comes up three times in this category because there's three different directors.
- 54:43The white lotus. That's all. I'm just like and and I know
- 54:45that these things are phenomenal. I'm not taking it away. It's like,
- 54:49aren't there other things that are also phenomenal? And or just like I say,
- 54:52I think it was as closed to a perfect season of televisions I've ever
- 54:58seen it, you know. It was just it's something else, you know,
- 55:02And I mean it's not getting credited the way it should. But once
- 55:08again, that goes back to another destruction I have with somebody else this week,
- 55:12where I've always said that, like I don't give a shit about the
- 55:14Wars, I don't give a shit about sales because the greatest things that I've
- 55:16ever enjoyed are usually the things that are the least appreciated by the masses.
- 55:22I believe you. However, Comma, yep, if you were nominated in
- 55:28one and Emmy, are you gonna also say you wouldn't find joy in that
- 55:34nominated or one that wants to get nominated for everything? Yeah, I think
- 55:44it deserves everything. At the same time, what I care about far more.
- 55:50I can say this straight, you know, because it's just like with
- 55:52this show is touching those people who are gonna reach out to me and be
- 55:57like, Yo, I've read this book been and it was this moment right
- 56:00here, nigga, you know that that will touch me more than the award.
- 56:04Just fucking So you're not seeking an award, but you're also I know,
- 56:07I wanted to win all those things because I know what those things.
- 56:13That procedure will breathe to the book. It will get more of that reaction
- 56:15than I want from people. You know, see what I'm saying, Like,
- 56:19because I want more people to read it. So the procedure is winning
- 56:22awards will get more people to read it. But what matters more is that
- 56:27reaction. It's just it's how the system is set up. I need awards.
- 56:31I need that type of stuff to get noticed. That's the same thing
- 56:34with all these shows. But what matters to me more is the reaction I
- 56:38will get on a personal level for people. You know, winning an award
- 56:44is like, man, that's you know, like all that shit is a
- 56:46part of the system. You know, that's like how it set up to
- 56:50you know, you gotta get it. That would be great, you know,
- 56:52and I want it. I'm putting it out there for you know,
- 56:54this book to win Mad Awards, New York Times Bestseller all that stuff,
- 56:58That's what I'm looking for. But what I'm really looking for is the moments.
- 57:04You know, I want people to get what I've been putting into this
- 57:07book, you know, And that's what I think all most creators, you
- 57:10know, they want people to you know, like, oh that shit hit
- 57:14me, fam, you know what I mean. M Yeah, So yeah,
- 57:20it's both, is what I heard. Yeah, it's both, you
- 57:22know, it's both. But yeah, as far as I you know,
- 57:23if I once I or once I do write some television and it gets nominated
- 57:28for an Emmy, I do up there, I don't know, I do
- 57:30up there and say some wild ship problem, I'd probably go up there and
- 57:35say wild ship and never get nominated again. You know. My career in
- 57:40Hollywood has definitely been like you know, it's it has been you know,
- 57:46how not to you know, get paid, and I don't care because my
- 57:54integrity matter is way more than dollars, you know. To me. That's
- 57:59it's just you know, and I feel like there's so much of Hollywood,
- 58:02especially right now, is just distratching level television that I don't really want to
- 58:07participate in. That's fair. Yeah, I hear you sir um, what
- 58:14else we got going on? I mean you mentioned it. Let's let's remind
- 58:15the listeners of what we talked about. Hendrix Man. Yes, yeah,
- 58:20definitely because I saw my man, Tom Mandrake uh shouting it out again this
- 58:24week. So yes, my first ever graphic novel, who uh Jimmy Hendrix
- 58:36is Jimmy Hendricks Purple Hayes. It's coming from Tighten Comics November seventh. I
- 58:40had a bit paused right there because I always shout out me and Mellow Brown.
- 58:45We are two at the writers. I mean, we are the two
- 58:47writers, Jimmy and just Purple Hayes. The graphic novel, available from Titan
- 58:52Comics November seven, you can pre order now, is illustrated by Tom Mandrake,
- 58:58a motherfucking legend. But this week I also want to shout out Justin
- 59:02and I hope I'm pronouncing your name right, because I haven't gotten to speak
- 59:06to you yet. Justin Prokovitch Prokovica Gorokovich, Justin Prokovich, who is the
- 59:15colorist of Jimmy Hendricks Purple Hayes, and he is currently doing the colors on
- 59:21it. I've seen some pages. They're fantastic. I mean, it's just
- 59:27this is some beautiful shit man. Like you know, we've talked about it.
- 59:30You can go listen to Tai Town interviewing me about it. Just go
- 59:34pre order Jimmy Hendricks Purple Haze right now. Go to your local comic books
- 59:37shop, your local bookstore, or hit up Amazon wherever if you have to
- 59:42tell them you want Jimmy Hendricks Purple Hayese. It's a work of love,
- 59:46man, like you know, just it. I'm so I say this again
- 59:51and again, but I'm just so proud of this book every time I think
- 59:53about it. The ending, the whole story that we've told. Um.
- 59:59I actually got in You Are Cows podcasts, the Black Wrastling podcast last week
- 1:00:05and they were they asked me, I think we talked about this, but
- 1:00:07they asked me, what I like to tell more stories in this universe?
- 1:00:10And I'm like, fam, it's set up to tell more stories in this
- 1:00:14universe. Like I told the whole story arc to Young Grew when I finished
- 1:00:19the whole story arc, and I just had to explain to him, you
- 1:00:21know, the whole story and he was like, all right, that's cool,
- 1:00:23but you know the story is not over here, right, and I
- 1:00:25was like, yeah, I know, but you know this, it's the
- 1:00:29this book is done. You know, this novel is finished, and then
- 1:00:31there will be more novels in this series later on, hopefully if y'all go
- 1:00:37out and re order it and all that good stuff. But yeah, it's
- 1:00:39it's set up for more stories. Like there's just there's so much packed into
- 1:00:45this graphic novel. Man, there's this whole universe that me and Mello created
- 1:00:50with our writing and that Tom and Justin and everyone else are illustrating. So
- 1:00:53it's this universe. And that's another thing I mentioned, Like Tom's art,
- 1:00:58It's like it's the high type of art that as a kid, I would
- 1:01:00look at the page of art like this and I would just want to tell
- 1:01:02stories about everyone on the page. So yeah, there's a million more stories
- 1:01:07I could tell from this book, So God willing, you know, people
- 1:01:10pre order, people love it, and people read it and buy it and
- 1:01:14tell their friends about it and tell a friend and etcetera. And we get
- 1:01:17those sales where Titan wants to do more in this universe, and you know
- 1:01:22we'll be back for more because I would love to keep telling stories in this
- 1:01:25and I think people once they get their hands on it, will want to
- 1:01:28read more stories in this universe. So yeah, I for one and rooting
- 1:01:32for you, Thank you very much, to say the least, I'm very
- 1:01:36excited. So yeah, we said November nineteenth, No seven, Why Why
- 1:01:42that's the nineteenth? Oh I'm thinking October nineteenth, that's why. Oh yeah,
- 1:01:45because that's not even white, is it? In nineteen th seventeen.
- 1:01:47I'm getting my days mixed up. I think it's the nineteenth. That's the
- 1:01:51nineteen October nineteenth. We are going to be at the National Museum of African
- 1:01:53American History and Culture acting Oprah Winfrey Museum. But I mean the excuse me
- 1:02:01as at the museum the theater or from the south the theater. We're gonna
- 1:02:07be there. I've always loved that pronunciation. But theater, I guess so
- 1:02:14very down south. Ourselves and some other prestigious black folks will be there talking
- 1:02:20all things after futurism um and topics around that space. We were told that
- 1:02:27it is free to attend. I think we may have to register, so
- 1:02:30for those who who have been asking us, we do have confirmation it is
- 1:02:32free. Um. I think it is going to be a signum situation,
- 1:02:36and you know, more than likely it's you have to get there at a
- 1:02:39certain time or you may not have a seat. So um. But but
- 1:02:44there's that, but very excited about that, very humbled, very honored something
- 1:02:50that we had been you know, this is over a year and then making
- 1:02:52at this point, yeah right, it's been a long time, right,
- 1:02:55and then we couldn't even talk about it for like eight months. So it's
- 1:02:58just like with Hindreds, like people are asking me how long they ask me
- 1:03:00that on the podcast how long? And I had to realize that it's been
- 1:03:04about when it comes out, it will be over a little over two years
- 1:03:07since Mellow first came in, Like, yo, do you want to pitch
- 1:03:10this? And much like creative processes, much like movies, films, TV,
- 1:03:15like a lot of stuff has been in the works for years and by
- 1:03:17the time it comes out as like yo, I've been did this right?
- 1:03:21Yeah? But point being is, we are gonna be live out chair during
- 1:03:29Howard homecoming week and I will be staying there for the weekend. Oh of
- 1:03:32course. We really hope that everyone who is in DNB area are going to
- 1:03:37be visiting or whatever will come through. I know I'm going to have family
- 1:03:40there, I'm gonna have friends come through, and you know, a lot
- 1:03:43of people have shown their interests. So yes, as soon as it's available
- 1:03:46and up like on because it was it July right now, as soon as
- 1:03:49it's up on a site and available, will let you guys know. But
- 1:03:52you should also just watch it. And by the site, I mean the
- 1:03:55African American Museum site. Just check that to see their upcoming events because I
- 1:04:00think they had stopped in like September, like stop listing things up until certain
- 1:04:02time September. So just keep watching that because I'm sure they're going to update
- 1:04:05it too. Man, it's so crazy. I cannot believe we're doing this.
- 1:04:10Yeah, man, it's it's listen. We profession now. So that's
- 1:04:15what you do as a infession now. And as we said earlier on in
- 1:04:21this episode, we're going to be doing more things, just different ways of
- 1:04:27capturing attention and imagination when it comes to covering the fandom, covering nerds stuff,
- 1:04:33geek stuff, pop culture stuff, We're gonna be going doing things differently
- 1:04:38and and and again, we want to still, we want to entertain,
- 1:04:43and we want to be there for y'all, and we want to combine both
- 1:04:45of them so that we also don't lose our minds. You know, we
- 1:04:49don't. We don't. We don't want to be in and stuck in one
- 1:04:53place either. So and also recently we just realized like shoutouts to camera and
- 1:04:57Mace, you know, and what they're doing over there with the it Is
- 1:05:00what it Is podcast, but like they're just talking to ship this week,
- 1:05:02and so real quick, I'm just talking a little shit like, ain't no
- 1:05:05like we said earlier in the episode, ain't nobody really doing it out here
- 1:05:09like me and Ta Tana. You know. It's just we have birth and
- 1:05:12fathered and mothered sons and daughters and granddaughters and grandchildren and grandsons, sons and
- 1:05:19grandchildren maybe going on greats. Yeah, and it goes back to the Combat
- 1:05:26Jet show. Rest in peace to my brother Reggie Osay and happy combat jat
- 1:05:30Data everyone out there. But yeah, we've been doing this and we just
- 1:05:33sometimes have to stop and take a second and be like, okay, no
- 1:05:36fuck that we got to remind these people who has been doing this. And
- 1:05:42so I'm speaking to y'all out there, you know, coming back for the
- 1:05:45block. Yeah, like you know, because It's been a lot of that.
- 1:05:48Tell him what you say, Tell him what's this basical come back what
- 1:05:50he's saying the wyat, Tell him he back, Yeah, tell him omar
- 1:05:54coming baby, you know what I mean? Because it's like like I'm like,
- 1:05:58I'm I've been seeing a lot. I've been hearing a lot. There's
- 1:06:00been a lot of little slit talk lately that I've been like, okay,
- 1:06:05and then I've just also been really the credibility of a lot of these people
- 1:06:12out here is a question. I will say that, because a lot of
- 1:06:15people will do anything for a check. You know. I talked about it
- 1:06:17when it comes to writers in Hollywood, which is a lot of my problem
- 1:06:20with them, and you know, shout out to the ones who don't watch
- 1:06:24Hollywood shuffle. There's always work at the post office. And it goes to
- 1:06:28the same thing to all these bloggers, all these videographers, whatever you want
- 1:06:30to call them, all these people who are especially moving in this blurred space.
- 1:06:33Lately, I've seen a lot of people just doing shit for checks,
- 1:06:38you know what I mean, just saying whatever. Shout out to Luna.
- 1:06:42I hope people to eat the beat saying whatever for these checks. Fam and
- 1:06:46it's like, you can't be doing that, y'all. You know, like
- 1:06:50May says on it is what it is. They come to me for the
- 1:06:53truth, you know what I mean. I have sacrificed jobs in Hollywood,
- 1:06:57you know, to talk this shit, you know, because I'm not gonna
- 1:07:00sit here and just say that some bullshit is not some bullshit in a you
- 1:07:05know, eloquent manner, and I'm gonna break it down to the very last
- 1:07:10compound. But I'm gonna call what it is. Bros, Bros.
