- 0:01Genesis chapter 7, verse 11. Genesis 7, 11. In
- 0:14the 600th year of Noah's life, in the second
- 0:21month, the 17th day of the month, on that day...
- 0:28All the fountains of the great deep were broken
- 0:32up. And the windows of heaven were opened. Father,
- 0:46I'm asking you, even as you have confirmed already
- 0:48through several prayers during our prayer time
- 0:52and through Pastor Blessin's prayer. You've confirmed
- 0:59the word of the Lord to me. And I ask God that
- 1:04in this place, that the windows of heaven would
- 1:09open. I ask God that you would speak to our hearts
- 1:17through your word. In Jesus' name. Amen. Amen.
- 1:28Hallelujah. I apologize this morning, you're
- 1:30not getting me at my best. I've been in bed for
- 1:33three days, and this morning I woke up and I
- 1:35said, oh, praise God, I can function. And so
- 1:39I am the first day back functioning today, and
- 1:44I'm still feeling a little bit weak. So thank
- 1:47you for praying for me. But I wanted to start
- 1:52with this passage because this is... the first
- 1:57passage in the Scriptures where the windows of
- 2:01heaven opened up. And here it was a physical
- 2:08resource, the resource of rain. But heaven opened
- 2:14up. Up until this point in time, it had not rained.
- 2:19The earth was watered by the dew of the earth.
- 2:24And God had told Noah to build an ark. And so
- 2:30Noah was building an ark for something that was
- 2:34in the minds of everybody he was preaching to,
- 2:38and perhaps even in his own mind, he was building
- 2:42an ark for an impossible situation that was to
- 2:47come. I'm going to flood the earth. Well, Noah
- 2:53had seen the dew on the ground and he had seen
- 2:56the waters of the land and he knew what water
- 3:03was. But there was resource that was necessary
- 3:09that was not in the natural. And when earth's
- 3:16resources run out, God opens. The heavens. Amen?
- 3:25And so here, we see that when heaven opened up,
- 3:31the water was released. When there is an open
- 3:37heaven, there is an abundance for whatever God
- 3:43wants to accomplish. I want to read some other
- 3:49scriptures here. Psalm 78 verse 23 says this,
- 3:57Yet he had commanded the clouds above and opened
- 4:02the doors of heaven. Now this is not referring
- 4:05to Noah. This is referring to the Israelites
- 4:09later on when they needed food in the wilderness.
- 4:13And what do you think came out of the open doors
- 4:16of heaven when they needed food in the wilderness?
- 4:19It was not water. It was manna. He rained down
- 4:25manna on them to eat and given them of the bread
- 4:32of heaven. Men ate angels' foods. He sent them
- 4:38food to the full. Hallelujah. Because when there
- 4:43is an open heaven, there is an abundance for
- 4:48whatever God wants to accomplish. I'm believing
- 4:55God in 2026 for an open heaven in this place.
- 5:02I'm believing God in 2026 for an open heaven
- 5:06over your life. I'm believing in 2026 for an
- 5:10open heaven in Lincoln, Illinois, in central
- 5:14Illinois. I'm believing for an open heaven in
- 5:17the United States of America. Hallelujah. Because
- 5:20we don't just need laws to change. We need hearts
- 5:24to change. We don't just need what man can do.
- 5:28We need what God can do. The provision on this
- 5:33earth, the provision of the good ideas of men
- 5:36can carry Carry us to a certain place. But the
- 5:40resources for what God wants to do, we don't
- 5:44have. We need the heavens to open up. We need
- 5:50the heavens to open up. An open heaven is a place
- 5:55of incredible abundance. Some of you need heaven
- 6:01to open up over your homes. We're going to believe
- 6:04for that today. So, number one, an open heaven
- 6:09is a place of abundance. Secondly, an open heaven
- 6:12is a place of incredible spiritual activity.
- 6:19Genesis 28, verse 10. Now Jacob went out from
- 6:24Beersheba and went toward Haran. So he came to
- 6:29a certain place and stayed there all night because
- 6:32the sun had set. And he took one of the stones
- 6:36of that place and put it at his head. And he
- 6:41laid down in that place to sleep. And he dreamed.
- 6:47And behold, a ladder was set up on the earth.
- 6:51And its top reached to the heaven. And there
- 6:57the angels of God were ascending and descending
- 7:02on it. And behold, the Lord stood above it and
- 7:07said, I am the Lord God of Abraham, your father,
- 7:12and the God of Isaac. The land on which you lie,
- 7:16I will give to you and your descendants. Also
- 7:20your descendants shall be as the dust of the
- 7:23earth, and you shall spread abroad to the west
- 7:27and to the east, to the north and to the south.
- 7:30And in you and in your seed all the families
- 7:33of the earth shall be blessed. Behold, I am with
- 7:36you and will keep you wherever you go and will
- 7:40bring you back to this land for I will not leave
- 7:43you until I have done what I have spoken to you.
- 7:48And Jacob awoke from his sleep and said, Surely
- 7:52the Lord is in this place and I did not know
- 7:55it. And he was afraid. and said, how awesome
- 8:01is this place. This is none other than the house
- 8:07of God, Bethel. And this is the gate of heaven.
- 8:13And he arose early in the morning and took the
- 8:17stone that he had put at his head, set it up
- 8:19as a pillar and poured oil on top of it and called
- 8:23the name of that place Bethel. The house of God.
- 8:31Spiritual activity is happening when the heavens
- 8:37open up. And so he was sleeping, but it wasn't
- 8:44just a dream. It wasn't just food that he ate
- 8:48that night. He was experiencing the power of
- 8:52God in that moment. He was experiencing God speaking
- 8:56to him and encountering with him. And in fact,
- 9:00when he awoke from his sleep, he was still fully
- 9:04aware of the presence of God and trembling in
- 9:08the fear of the Lord as Jacob met for himself.
- 9:14The God of his father, Isaac, and the God of
- 9:17his grandfather, Abraham. It came to Jacob in
- 9:21the place of an open heaven. I can think of a
- 9:24few other people that have experienced an open
- 9:27heaven like that. You think about Saul in Acts
- 9:30chapter 9. He is just headed on the road to Damascus.
- 9:34And what happened? Heaven opened up. over Saul.
- 9:40And he came to this place where God struck him
- 9:45and began to speak to him and changed his life
- 9:49forever. Because the place of an open heaven
- 9:53is the place of spiritual activity. The place
- 9:57of an open heaven is the place of revelation.
- 10:01You, friend, are not going to go to heaven. Because
- 10:06your dad knows Jesus. You're not going to go
- 10:11to heaven because grandpa follows Jesus. You're
- 10:16going to go to heaven because you have an encounter
- 10:19with Jesus. You need heaven to open up over your
- 10:23life. You and I need heaven to open up over our
- 10:27lives. Hallelujah. Hallelujah. Here, Jacob heard
- 10:34God's calling for himself. And he realized, I
- 10:39can't skirt along any longer just based upon
- 10:42daddy's faith. I need my own. It's the place
- 10:50of revelation. Do you know that we're supposed
- 10:54to pray for the heavens to open? Isaiah chapter
- 11:0164, he's praying. Oh, that you would rend the
- 11:07heavens and come down. What does that word rend
- 11:13mean? It means to tear open. Oh, that you would
- 11:19tear open the heavens and come down. And come
- 11:26down. That you would what? that the mountains
- 11:30might shake at your presence. What's he saying?
- 11:34That your presence might manifest here on the
- 11:40earth. That your presence might manifest here
- 11:46on the earth, even as it is in heaven. Rip open
- 11:51the heavens so that the earth will start to look
- 11:55like it is up there. Rend the heavens and come
- 12:00down as fire burns brushwood, as fire causes
- 12:05water to boil, to make your name known to your
- 12:09adversaries that the nations may tremble at your
- 12:14presence. Hallelujah. That reminds me of a New
- 12:19Testament moment in Acts chapter 2 when the heavens
- 12:25opened up. And fire came, just like Isaiah prayed,
- 12:32and separated, and a tongue of fire came on each
- 12:38of them. And as they prayed in the Spirit, as
- 12:42they prayed in tongues, the nations around them
- 12:46that had assembled heard their own languages,
- 12:50and they said, oh God, what must this be? And
- 12:55many of them trembled in the presence of God.
- 12:59Lord, we need the heavens to open up. We need
- 13:04the heavens to open up in Matthew chapter 6.
- 13:08When Jesus taught us how to pray. In verse 10,
- 13:14what did he say? Your kingdom come. Your will
- 13:20be done on earth. As it is in heaven. We need
- 13:27the heavens to open up so that the activity that
- 13:33happens here on the earth will reflect heaven.
- 13:37Hallelujah. Hallelujah. Oh, I feel the presence
- 13:42of the Lord in this house. Right now. I want
- 13:46you to hear what happened. When Jesus prayed
- 13:49in Luke chapter 3. After he was baptized. In
- 13:54verse 21. It says this. When all the people were
- 13:58baptized. It came to pass that Jesus also was
- 14:02baptized. Now listen to this phrase. And while
- 14:07Jesus prayed. The heaven was opened. Do you think
- 14:17that that's a coincidence? I believe that not
- 14:22only while Jesus prayed the heavens was opened,
- 14:25but because Jesus prayed the heavens were opened.
- 14:32Hallelujah. And what happened when the heaven
- 14:35was opened? Spiritual activity began to happen.
- 14:39The Holy Spirit came in the form of a dove and
- 14:43descended and came to rest on each of them. And
- 14:47the Father spoke, this is my son. With him, I
- 14:52am well pleased. The heavens opened up. Why do
- 14:57we... often open the altars for people to receive
- 15:01prayer during worship because the heavens are
- 15:06open. And when the heavens are open, spiritual
- 15:12activity is released. Do I understand that all
- 15:18the time? I don't always understand it, but I
- 15:22know that this is not just an Old Testament thing.
- 15:27It is Old Testament, New Testament. God wants
- 15:31to interact with people. Hallelujah. When Stephen
- 15:37was being stoned, and the Bible says he stood
- 15:41up and looked, and what happened? He said, behold,
- 15:46I see the heavens opened and the Son of Man standing
- 15:51at the right hand of God. And then he prayed,
- 15:55God receive my spirit. Don't count this sin against
- 15:59them. And Jesus standing in the heavens received
- 16:04Stephen. The heavens were opened up. Hallelujah.
- 16:11We should pray for the heavens to open up. There's
- 16:19three things. that the Scriptures attach to an
- 16:28open heaven. And the first one we've already
- 16:30talked about, prayer. And I'm kind of setting
- 16:35this up because we're starting our week of fasting
- 16:38and prayer on the 7th of January. And we are
- 16:44going to pray every gathering. We're going to
- 16:47be praying, God, open up the heavens. Amen? We
- 16:52are believing for Him to establish an open heaven
- 16:56in this place. Now, the church is not the building.
- 17:02We understand that. But there are locations in
- 17:08the earth where God's... where the heavens open
- 17:14up. There are locations usually where people
- 17:18have been fasting and praying and seeking God's
- 17:23face. In those locations, there is oftentimes
- 17:27an open atmosphere that is very easy to enter
- 17:32into an open heaven. When God begins to pour
- 17:36revival out in a location, why do you think the
- 17:40people flood to that place? It is hopefully not
- 17:45because of a man. It's hopefully because the
- 17:49heavens are open in that place. The heavens are
- 17:53opened up. Why did people flood to Brownsville
- 17:56in the 90s? It was because... People had spent
- 18:02seven years seeking God for an open heaven and
- 18:06God heard their prayer. And for the next seven
- 18:11years, the heavens were opened in that place.
- 18:16Five million people came to that church because
- 18:22the heavens were opened. I've experienced...
- 18:28and open heaven in a church for six months. Everything
- 18:35that God did, we could not even recount to you.
- 18:39It was so outstanding. So many lives changed
- 18:45and healed. God, open up the heavens. Open up
- 18:55the heavens. The second thing that is attached
- 18:58to an open heaven is obedience. Obedience. You
- 19:06want God to open heaven over your finances, over
- 19:09your life? You have got to walk in obedience.
- 19:15Listen to Deuteronomy chapter 28. These are the
- 19:21blessings for obedience. It says this in verse
- 19:2712. The Lord will open to you His good treasure,
- 19:33the heavens. Because you're obedient. When we're
- 19:46obedient to God, we can expect the heavens. To
- 19:55open up on us. And again here, like Noah's day,
- 19:59it was attached to something physical. Rain in
- 20:03due season. The things that we need. In James
- 20:12chapter 1, it says that God is the giver of every
- 20:17perfect gift. It comes from the Father of heavenly
- 20:23lights who does not change. In 2026, I believe
- 20:29that the heavens are going to open up over America.
- 20:33The heavens are going to open up over Illinois
- 20:36even. I believe that with my whole heart. The
- 20:39heavens are going to open up over Faith Church
- 20:42because he's called us to more, friends. He's
- 20:45called us to reach more for his kingdom. He's
- 20:48called us to do more for his kingdom. He's called
- 20:51us to do that which we cannot provide. We don't
- 20:56have the resources to do it. But God does. And
- 21:00they're going to be released over us. Hallelujah.
- 21:03Why? Because of obedience. We see this again
- 21:08in Malachi chapter 3. That the heavens open up
- 21:15not just for obedience, but a very specific kind
- 21:18of obedience. Obedience in giving. Bring the
- 21:24tithes into the storehouse. that there might
- 21:28be food in my house. And test me now in this,
- 21:32says the Lord, if I will not open up for you
- 21:37the windows of heaven. When you bring your tithe
- 21:48to the storehouse here, that act of obedience.
- 21:55is sowing into a mighty, mighty move of God.
- 22:01It is not just about making sure you get enough
- 22:04to get by. It is not merely about obedience.
- 22:10It is. But it is about positioning you, positioning
- 22:16the church to be in the place where God opens
- 22:21up the heavens. Hallelujah. And that is about
- 22:26provision for your life, but it is about, oh,
- 22:29so much more than that. It is about spiritual
- 22:31activity happening. It is about God moving in
- 22:36your home, in your situation. Hallelujah. You
- 22:40are positioning yourself by obedience. You are
- 22:44positioning yourself by prayer. You are positioning
- 22:47yourself by generosity. And those three things
- 22:52together. Position yourself to be where the heavens
- 22:59are opened. You say, well, pastor, who am I?
- 23:07I'm not a prophet that you know of. I'm nobody
- 23:18special. I love Ezekiel chapter 1 verse 1. And
- 23:42this was before Ezekiel ever wrote down any prophecy.
- 23:47He wasn't known yet. He was in exile. A nobody.
- 24:06It came to pass in the 30th year, in the fourth
- 24:09month, on the fifth day of the month, as I was
- 24:15among the captives by the river Shabar. Shabar
- 24:26means far off place. I'm in a far off place with
- 24:37prisoners. I'm not in my home country. I'm not
- 24:47living in the place of blessing. As far as I
- 24:50can see, nothing is going right. Separated from
- 24:57my family, most likely. And in that far off place,
- 25:07the next sentence says, the heavens were opened
- 25:16and I saw visions of God. Nobody else would choose
- 25:28the river Shabar. Nobody else perhaps would choose
- 25:38to be in the position you're in. Maybe you would
- 25:44say, I don't even choose the position I'm in.
- 25:57But God sees right where you are. He sees your
- 26:04faithfulness when nobody else does. He sees your
- 26:08prayer in the secret place that nobody else sees.
- 26:13And he will reward you openly. In the place of
- 26:23Shabar, the heavens were opened and I saw visions
- 26:30of God. God's chosen you. That's been the theme
- 26:39of several of my messages lately. God has chosen
- 26:45you. God has chosen you. When Jesus got done
- 26:57in Revelation 3 with the final church, had rebuked
- 27:08Five of those churches had John write down all
- 27:12the words to seven of them. And then he turns
- 27:18to John in chapter 4. And he says, hey, John.
- 27:23Because the Bible says John saw an open door
- 27:28in heaven. Revelation 4 .1. He saw an open door.
- 27:38And John heard a voice that said, come up here
- 27:43and I will show you things to come. A place of
- 27:52revelation. John, I don't know how he did it
- 27:58in his dream, if he just floated up or if he
- 28:01had to climb up. to get there. I don't understand
- 28:04it, but he got himself to the place of the open
- 28:08heaven. And it was there that God began to reveal
- 28:13to him the rest of the revelation. We need God
- 28:20to open up the heavens. You might feel stuck.
- 28:25Do you know what you need? You need God to open
- 28:27up the heavens. You might feel like Isaiah did.
- 28:35There's so much more. I don't want to just hear
- 28:39about what you used to do. I want to see it in
- 28:42my time and in my day. How many of you have heard
- 28:48of the revivals of the past? How many of you
- 28:52are content just to hear about the revivals of
- 28:55the past? I hear about what God, in fact, even
- 29:00the present, what God does around the world.
- 29:03And I get jealous because I don't want it to
- 29:07just happen in the far off corners of the world.
- 29:10I do want it to happen there, but I want it to
- 29:13happen here too. I want God to move in power
- 29:17here. Hallelujah. I want him to move. I want
- 29:22him to move. An open heaven can be over one life.
- 29:27It can be over a people. And I believe that God
- 29:32wants this to be a place of an open heaven.
