- 0:19and Scott Moskowitz. Why hello. Welcome back.
- 0:28It's No ID. North Idaho's mainstream narrative
- 0:31deconstruction. I'm Scott. Hello, Internet. I'm
- 0:35Paul. Welcome back. Welcome back. It's good to
- 0:39be here. It's always good to be here Scott. How
- 0:41are you buddy? I am good Maybe slightly better
- 0:46than you, you know being a results oriented individual
- 0:49that I am I by that measure I'm literally better.
- 0:57Oh Man yeah for now for now, but the tide can
- 1:02turn my friend of course it can besides I'll
- 1:04tell you what It was high time that you won a
- 1:07couple of hands between Jason and I, because
- 1:09Jason and I realized the first two times that
- 1:13the three of us were together, you didn't really
- 1:15have a great run of it. And not necessarily through
- 1:18any fault of your own, but we were feeling that
- 1:20at some point, if you didn't walk away up from
- 1:24a poker night with us, we probably weren't going
- 1:25to see much of you anymore. Yes, we we played
- 1:30some cards at a friend's house the over the weekend
- 1:34in Washington in Washington not in Idaho Yes,
- 1:37it was in Washington. We all know it was legal
- 1:39is illegal in Idaho. We would never ever break
- 1:41the law ever We're law -abiding citizens Because
- 1:46legality equates to morality as we all know so
- 1:49you even so much as jaywalk. You are a bad person
- 1:54We that escalated quickly You've played with
- 1:58this, we were playing a short -handed game and
- 2:01you're much more familiar with the other players
- 2:04than I am. But yeah, we basically spent our pre
- 2:08-show show, which we normally just do this show
- 2:10where we talk about Idaho and mainstream narratives.
- 2:13This time we actually just talked poker. That
- 2:15was refreshing. Yeah, for half an hour and then
- 2:18we were like, I guess we should probably get
- 2:20to work. It was fun. And the thing is, I'm not.
- 2:23Well, it's actually really fun. I'll admit. Sorry,
- 2:26I'm interrupting. I apologize. Do not interrupt
- 2:28me. I'll admit that. Do not interrupt me. Got
- 2:31some new drops. They're so timely and relevant.
- 2:37Go on. And also a little hurtful. Now I don't
- 2:40want to. Well, I was going to say that I don't
- 2:43have. I'm scared. An issue with, you know, whatever,
- 2:47a couple of losing sessions. I and you and the
- 2:50people. slash person we're playing with are all
- 2:53actual card players. We don't think about poker
- 2:55the way that most people think about it, which
- 2:58is they get their panties in a wad about 20 bucks.
- 3:00I couldn't care less. Life is one big long session.
- 3:04So I could have had 10 losing sessions in a row
- 3:06against you guys. It don't make no nevermind
- 3:07to me. I'd have been right back there for the
- 3:0911th. Hell yeah. That's one of the reasons why
- 3:13we're friends. It is actually really refreshing
- 3:15to use your word to have run into another person
- 3:19who loves the game the way that I love the game
- 3:21and the way our mutual friend Jason loves the
- 3:23game because for the longest time it was just
- 3:25Jason and I and so our options were we play heads
- 3:29up which is okay once in a while but I'm not
- 3:32a big fan of heads up and frankly taking your
- 3:34friend's money and only your friend's money or
- 3:36vice versa all the time that it's sort of like
- 3:40how they measure GDP you know you buy you buy
- 3:44something for a hundred bucks from your friend
- 3:45And then a day later, he buys something from
- 3:48you for a hundred bucks. And then they measure
- 3:50that as $200 worth of GDP. Commerce out of the
- 3:54same bullshit. So it's nice to add somebody else
- 3:57to the mix, but also somebody who loves the game
- 3:59at the level we do. So yeah, talking poker with
- 4:02you for the last 30 minutes was really nice.
- 4:05I got to have a joke. Yeah, and then we were
- 4:07then we were I was trying to cue up this little
- 4:09poker rap from the heyday from the poker boom
- 4:12from the mid -2000s where it was all over ESPN
- 4:16after Chris Moneymaker won the main event and
- 4:18With a guy with a name like that. That's his
- 4:20real name who won the 2003 main event in Vegas
- 4:23and sort of set off that mid -2000s You may recall
- 4:26you not only does anybody call us an adult then
- 4:30remember that they were, you know, like everybody
- 4:33was sort of playing and home games were really,
- 4:36were just everywhere at that time. But if you
- 4:37go back, like my wife watches, you know, old
- 4:40CSI's or old this or that, like shows that were
- 4:43on in that era, they were all over those shows
- 4:46too. It was like every other scene, there was
- 4:47a poker game. Like you could just see how pervasive
- 4:51and popular it really became during that time.
- 4:52And I want to say it was because Rounders came
- 4:55out that time too. Rounders was before, Rounders
- 4:58was 98. This is from the 2006 main event on ESPN.
- 5:07ProLod Freeman's rap. I'll never forget it. This
- 5:40was on ESPN. It sounds like a horrible amateur
- 5:44TikTok video. This was on national television
- 5:46and they replayed it over and over and over and
- 5:49over in that era. Good times. I don't think ESPN
- 5:52has ever been better in that moment. Oh, that
- 5:55was his peak without question. Yep. It was all
- 5:58downhill from there for ESPN. They knew it too.
- 6:00They were like, all right, more NBA games now,
- 6:03less poker. So speaking of it being it being
- 6:08over and being on the downhill, here's a follow
- 6:10up from Paul's best friend, Ryan McClintock.
- 6:13Well, Ryan McClintock is accused of making threats
- 6:16against law enforcement and smashing windows
- 6:18at the Kootenai County Sheriff's Office with
- 6:20a bat. Now we're seeing that moment that it happened
- 6:23with newly released security video. Today I received
- 6:27a public records request back from the Kootenai
- 6:30County Sheriff's Office for surveillance video
- 6:32from the night. of April 4th. The security video
- 6:36shows the entrance to what is now the county
- 6:38jail administrative office. Court documents say
- 6:41McClintock allegedly posted threats on social
- 6:44media calling for a show of force. Here's a classic
- 6:47mainstream media thing where they're like, court
- 6:50documents show that he allegedly posted threats.
- 6:52You can just go on the internet and look. He
- 6:54didn't allegedly post threats. He just posted
- 6:57threats. Why do they say that? Because they're
- 7:03them. That's what they do. Mystery solved. Wow.
- 7:06We don't even need to do the podcast anymore.
- 7:08Show over. Put us out of a job. I guess. All
- 7:11right. Well. Well, my work here is done. Let's
- 7:14go play some poker. It's been a pleasure. Yeah.
- 7:17Well, OK. The the the camera shows. I'm like
- 7:21Pavlov's dog. You played that. You played that
- 7:23sound drop and all of a sudden like, oh shit,
- 7:24is it really over? I got to pee. I'm going to
- 7:27make some coffee. If you didn't see it like I
- 7:30think we described in initially he has over your
- 7:32headphones on Where he's he surely was listening
- 7:35to like effing hostile by Pantera or something
- 7:38thereabouts And he goes up to the front door
- 7:41and he he actually attempts to open the front
- 7:43door He just pulls on it, but it's locked and
- 7:46then so he's like, well, okay And then he busts
- 7:49out the bat and just starts wailing on the windows.
- 7:51The guy did just try to enter the building So
- 7:53one wonders was he gonna take a bat? to the deputies
- 7:57he found inside. I mean, that was that sounds
- 7:59like that was probably his plan. Well, I think
- 8:03it's fair to say he didn't really think it through.
- 8:07So once he got in there, he probably didn't know
- 8:10what he was going to do after that. Of course,
- 8:12not to get too dark about it, but there's a real
- 8:14possibility that this dude was maybe going to
- 8:19try the whole suicide by cop route. You never
- 8:21know. I mean, guys like that who are super unstable.
- 8:24Maybe in his mind he's like, all right, this
- 8:26is gonna go one of two ways either I'm gonna
- 8:27kick the shit out us out of the popo and they're
- 8:29gonna get what's coming to them or They're gonna
- 8:33take care of me and I don't have to hurt anymore
- 8:36You never know though with guy like it's things
- 8:39that don't make sense and never will on social
- 8:41media calling for a show of force against law
- 8:44enforcement before smashing several windows.
- 8:47Police arrested him outside the building without
- 8:50incident. Now police say the suspect admitted
- 8:53he wanted to incite fear and prove a point about
- 8:55what he believed was a local law enforcement
- 8:58cover -up. Now court documents say McClintock
- 9:01believed two local church pastors were pedophiles
- 9:04and that Sheriff Bob Norris was protecting them
- 9:06from prosecution. Damage to the sheriff's office
- 9:09windows was reported. reported at more than $1
- 9:11,000. And tonight they remain taped up, still
- 9:14awaiting those repairs. Now a judge is a total
- 9:18rounding error, by the way, $1 ,000. It's $1
- 9:21,000 is what it costs to put, you know, like
- 9:2310 guys in prison for one night over there. It's,
- 9:27it's a rounding error. It's so funny. It's really
- 9:29funny when you hear the mainstream media talk
- 9:32about money, they'll talk about a hundred million
- 9:34dollars for the Idaho budget. Like it's a rounding
- 9:36error because it is And these cuts are killing
- 9:40people. How could we possibly cut one percent
- 9:42from this budget? Oh, you know, it's only a hundred
- 9:45million or whatever. But then a thousand dollars
- 9:48when it's the local sheriff's office is all of
- 9:50a sudden big money, big money. I mean, these
- 9:53cuts are killing people. Now, a judge ordered
- 9:56a mental evaluation to determine if the suspect
- 10:00is competent to stand trial. His next court hearing,
- 10:03though, has not yet been scheduled. What do you
- 10:06think the betting line? On that verdict is, I
- 10:09would say three to one odds that they find him
- 10:14sane, but I would lay five to one odds that he
- 10:18is actually not. Sounds about right. Also, when
- 10:22you were wondering what he was listening to when
- 10:24he was smashing windows, I know what he was listening
- 10:27to. Chumbawumba. I'd knock out the windows. Can't
- 10:41mess with the classic. We didn't know what we
- 10:44had in the 90s. Oh man, I remember Chumbawumba
- 10:48coming on Love Line back then when that song
- 10:51was, you know, just at its zenith. And they were
- 10:54like, oh, and they were super arrogant Brits.
- 10:58And looking back, they were probably in their
- 10:59mid -early 20s. And these, you know, these just
- 11:02like, you know, it had all gone straight to their
- 11:05head. And they were just like, they were too
- 11:07cool for school. And they were just like... You
- 11:09know, they were like leaning back on their chairs
- 11:11five feet away from the mic and they were just
- 11:12like rocket ship to the moon, baby. You know,
- 11:15this is where we're just blasting on the scene
- 11:17and wait till they were going to be where the
- 11:19next Beatles basically were Chumbawumba. Just
- 11:21wait. I don't think anybody I don't think anybody
- 11:25knows any other song from them. It was tub thumping
- 11:28and then it was bye bye. And it was it's like
- 11:30I think it's routinely makes like the top five
- 11:33list, you know, behind Macarena and a few others
- 11:36for biggest one hit wonders ever. They got something.
- 11:41They got that going for him, you know? Oh, yeah.
- 11:43Oh, hey, I'm a no hit wonder. So, you know, that's
- 11:45one ahead of me. That's for sure. Yet. So far.
- 11:48So far. Don't be so hard on yourself, Scott.
- 11:50You've got time. You've got time. Well, McClintock
- 11:54is, you know, he'll have lots of time. Yeah,
- 11:57he's going to have a ton of time. Think about
- 11:59his. So it's really it's interesting to hear
- 12:02again how this is being reported. Everything
- 12:04is so incendiary is not the right word, but sensationalist.
- 12:07The language that is being used for for this
- 12:10Wild attack on the sheriff's department. It feels
- 12:15so overinflated and sensationalists, uh, you
- 12:18know, attack, attack and violence and threats
- 12:23and all the different words they use. I mean,
- 12:26really, you just have a dude who had a little
- 12:29bit of a social media presence who you who smashed
- 12:32some windows with the bat. It just happened to
- 12:33be cop windows. If he'd smashed anybody else's
- 12:36windows, nobody would care as much. Yeah. If
- 12:39it was, if it was the mall down the street or
- 12:42if it was a private residence, it'd be like,
- 12:44ho hum. There'd be no, there'd be no audio to
- 12:46play on the show because nobody would have made
- 12:48any note of it. Correct. The fact that he went
- 12:51after, uh, that he smashed the Cooney County
- 12:54sheriff windows. Now it's big, big news. And
- 12:56I think this, this really does say a lot. It's
- 13:00an institution. You know, one of the things I
- 13:01always say is or ask maybe should is what I do
- 13:05is like how, how, what is one of the best ways
- 13:07to identify a cult? There's hallmarks, there's
- 13:11markers for how you identify a cult. Acoustic
- 13:12guitars and underage runaways. Usually beads
- 13:17and barefoot stuff too, but beards. Oh man, a
- 13:22lot of people are in trouble with that one. You're
- 13:26not allowed to criticize cults. You're not allowed
- 13:29to do anything that would be perceived as a threat
- 13:32towards the cult. I mean, really, we're talking
- 13:35just vandalism and property damage. That's really
- 13:37all this is. If it had been against anybody else,
- 13:39a private citizen or a private business or whatever,
- 13:42nobody would care. But if it had been against
- 13:45the city council building, basically any government
- 13:47building, the temples of the state, in this case,
- 13:51the temples and the agents of the state, well,
- 13:54holy shit, stop the presses. This is big news
- 13:57that keeps on newsing. Well, the proprietor or
- 14:01thinking about the proprietor, the owner would
- 14:03certainly. It would be like if somebody went
- 14:06to open my front door, but it was locked and
- 14:08then they whipped out a bat and started busting
- 14:10the windows. I mean, I would, that would to,
- 14:12to the owner, to me, it would feel like a lot
- 14:14more than property damage. It would feel like
- 14:18I was a dead bolt away from just having my skull
- 14:21caved in, you know? So I understand that it's
- 14:23like, it's probably more than just that charge,
- 14:26even though that's all that was the result. You
- 14:29know, I don't, I'm not discounting your overarching
- 14:31point of what you just said, but in, in, you
- 14:33know, in this case, I'm thinking about how I
- 14:34would react if I was on the other side of that
- 14:36door. Yeah, you're not wrong. I mean, we would,
- 14:39we would, it would feel like a violation. It
- 14:41would feel like a threat. It would feel like
- 14:43potential violence is about to happen to us.
- 14:45And it would feel like a violation just in the
- 14:47same way that when some somebody robs you or
- 14:49stolen or, or when the state, uh, executes a
- 14:54search warrant and basically tosses your place
- 14:56and takes a bunch of shit weird it's so weird
- 14:58because that's also like a robbery and it feels
- 15:00like a violation they leave and you're just like
- 15:02oh my god i've been violated um so you're not
- 15:05wrong as far as that goes but my point is simply
- 15:08the amount of noise being made about it based
- 15:12on who is the quote unquote victim in this case
- 15:15it's it's the thin blue line it's the institution
- 15:18of the state it's their agents the It is one
- 15:21of the institutions that right or left, it seems
- 15:24you are not allowed to ever criticize or make
- 15:27any sort of overture towards the state. That's
- 15:30my main point. The state. I also, I think it's
- 15:34worth noting when they actually get a taste of
- 15:36their own medicine, kind of in a roundabout way
- 15:38where they get to feel a little bit of unease,
- 15:40you know, boy, do they not like it. I think it's
- 15:43worth noting a couple of things about this. For
- 15:45one, this, this particular video. where a lot
- 15:49of them just have like, you know, when I'm pulling
- 15:51from mainstream network affiliate YouTube channels,
- 15:55a lot of the videos just have like, you know,
- 15:57a handful of views, a couple of comments. Some
- 15:59get more traction if they're more like a sensationalist
- 16:02or click -patey or whatever. In this case, even
- 16:04though it's local and it's not... It's not any
- 16:08trans. I need these other things that sort of
- 16:10get these get these clicks This one had a lot
- 16:12of views and and a lot of comments maybe over
- 16:15a hundred and it was a lot of people going like
- 16:18well Does anyone want to hear what McClintock
- 16:20had to say like is maybe he onto something, you
- 16:22know, like You know, what about the people who
- 16:25he's accusing of being a PDF files, etc. Etc
- 16:29a lot of those comments were on this video I
- 16:31thought that was interesting and if if you really
- 16:34wanted I saw some of that as well. You're not
- 16:35wrong If you wanted sensationalist mainstream
- 16:38media, which of course it seems like they do,
- 16:41but they only want it in select circumstances,
- 16:43because the most sensationalist thing you could
- 16:45do is to actually be a reporter and go investigate
- 16:49the claims, like McLintock's claims. What's he
- 16:52saying? That would be sensationalistic. But I
- 16:55haven't seen, mostly because they're not reporters,
- 16:58these people are news readers. Journalism, as
- 17:02we think we know it, has long died. Journalism
- 17:06I mean, they even have a term for it. Now they
- 17:08call it an investigative journalism. So there's
- 17:10reporting, there's journalism and there's investigative
- 17:12journalism. There's not a whole lot of investigative
- 17:15journalists around and most of them have an agenda
- 17:19just like everybody else. But not that long ago
- 17:22to be a news reader, reporter, journalist, whatever
- 17:26you want to call it, did meant you did some of
- 17:29your own legwork. But I'll tell you what, though,
- 17:33there is hope, Scott, because as we've seen in
- 17:35Minnesota, Uh, those investigative journalists
- 17:38who made a single phone call to the daycares
- 17:40to ask them if they were committing fraud. No,
- 17:43that's the gold standard, baby. Gold standard.
- 17:46Are you guys, uh, are you guys crime in over
- 17:48there? Uh, no, no, nothing to see here. Oh, all
- 17:53right. Cool. Thanks. Thanks. Thanks for taking
- 17:55my call. My work is done. We've investigated
- 17:59and found no fraud. Yeah. Uh, To your other point,
- 18:05though, it was interesting. I did also because
- 18:08I troll the social medias, mainly the book of
- 18:11faces. And I saw that the responses to the story
- 18:15were a bit more varied than I had expected. I
- 18:18did expect a whole lot of, you know, fry him.
- 18:22How dare he attack my cops? I expected a lot
- 18:25more of that. And instead, it was only about
- 18:2650 percent. The whole other 50 percent was kind
- 18:29of like, oh, we're kind of curious about what's
- 18:32the story here. Right. So, yeah. That was interesting.
- 18:35And you're not wrong. We'll see how it develops.
- 18:39Hey, any of you produce executive producers of
- 18:41any of you guys get the dish on this sort of
- 18:44thing before we do, please send it our way. Stories
- 18:47like this, even though they're kind of niche
- 18:49and they're funky, they're kind of our bread
- 18:52and butter and they're in some ways, I think
- 18:55stories like this are the most illustrative of
- 18:58what's going on around here. Well, here is another
- 19:03illustrative what's going on around here. sensationalist
- 19:08baloney from the Coeur d 'Alene City Council.
- 19:11The mayor is now calling for the city attorney
- 19:13to resign. It comes after a fiery debate this
- 19:16week between the two over how the city selected
- 19:18its new police chief. This is 10 years of documentation
- 19:25of city attorneys attacking our police chief.
- 19:30That accusation from Co Dan Gook in Tuesday is
- 19:33an e says has plagued the city that I've observed
- 19:39over that time of disrespect toward our police
- 19:43department. Just I think the undermining of my
- 19:45authority to make the appointment and then the
- 19:48surprise announcement was part of this ongoing
- 19:52effort to embarrass our police department. This
- 19:54after council voted to approve Greg Yeager's
- 19:57the new police chief. The mayor supported the
- 19:59other candidate and believed he had the legal
- 20:01authority to appoint the chief. But now he's
- 20:04asking the city attorney to step down. I wanted
- 20:06to let known that this is someone who has lost
- 20:09my confidence that is definitely I think undermined.
- 20:12an elected official city attorney randy adams
- 20:15was not available for an interview but provided
- 20:17a statement saying he won't resign and appreciates
- 20:20the support he's received from former mayors
- 20:22and current city officials and in part the mayor's
- 20:25comments were a complete surprise to me i don't
- 20:27have any bias against him and give him the same
- 20:30opinion i would have given to any mayor or council
- 20:32member who asked me the same question my client
- 20:35is the city of cortland i would have given him
- 20:37the same shitty opinion i would have given everybody
- 20:39else So here's the, I actually went and found
- 20:43it wasn't, wasn't hard, but I went and found
- 20:45the actual just source audio from the meeting
- 20:48and the, I didn't see any of the mainstream reports
- 20:53actually playing any of the more petulant moments
- 20:56from the exchange, but it's, it's pretty good.
- 20:58It's a little long, but it's, it's worth it because
- 21:00you get to hear the fifth graders masquerading
- 21:03a city council members having their ridiculous
- 21:06exchanges in these official chambers. Yeah. Okay.
- 21:09Before you start this clip, I'm just going to
- 21:11preface it with something I think most of us
- 21:13probably already know, but we really ought to
- 21:14hear again and again and again. I haven't heard
- 21:16this audio yet, but I already have an idea of
- 21:18what it's going to be like. Cause whether, whether
- 21:21whatever council, whatever commission, it's always
- 21:23the same people are people everywhere you go.
- 21:25The people who rule us are glorious Chalupa supremely
- 21:29earlier leaders. They are all basically children
- 21:31for the most part. So like, I can't wait to hear
- 21:33this, but like, this is the norm. This is a feature,
- 21:36not a bug, what we're going to hear. opinion
- 21:38of the legal department of the city of Coeur
- 21:40d 'Alene that a police chief cannot be appointed
- 21:45by the mayor. This is the city attorney. And
- 21:48such an appointment would be a violation of the
- 21:50city's own adopted policy. And also that the
- 21:55method... Okay, hold on. Pause it real fast,
- 21:57Scott. So, just for, again, for context, what's
- 22:01going on here is Guggen, freshly made mayor of
- 22:05the city of Coeur d 'Alene, is... trying to appoint
- 22:09the new city police chief. And much to his surprise
- 22:14and chagrin, he is experiencing significant pushback,
- 22:19but it's not just from the city attorney. Four
- 22:22other members of the city council voted against
- 22:26Guggen's pick for Coeur d 'Alene city police
- 22:29chief. So in Dan Guggen's own mind, who hasn't
- 22:34really experienced this sort of thing yet, cause
- 22:36he's been, he's been the golden boy. This is
- 22:39a coup in his mind and he's blaming the city
- 22:41attorney for bringing up statutes that the city
- 22:43attorney didn't write they just exist But the
- 22:46city attorney is like so hey Dan You thought
- 22:50you could do this, but it turns out the law here
- 22:54says you can't You're a pussy the City Council
- 22:57is like yeah And also we don't want this guy.
- 23:01We want this guy now We're talking about shades
- 23:04of shit. Anyways, both of the picks that the
- 23:06City Council and Dan gookin of Take a look at,
- 23:08they all, they all suck. One of them's out of
- 23:09like Denver, California. So you know what you're
- 23:11going to get there. Did you just say Denver,
- 23:13California? Denver, California. Go on. I said
- 23:22what I said. Is that it? Okay. That the method
- 23:24of appointing a department head is not supported
- 23:27by state law. And so Dan Guga is like, I don't
- 23:32care about that. Here is what goes on in the
- 23:35city of Coeur d 'Alene. You have an unelected
- 23:38city attorney. who butts heads with the mayor.
- 23:42And that's... Wait, wait, stop it. You got to
- 23:43pause it. You have an unelected city attorney
- 23:46who, by the way, also gets his... His contract
- 23:49comes from the city council and whatnot, so they
- 23:51could do something about that if they wanted
- 23:53to. An unelected bureaucrat telling a mayor that
- 23:57he doesn't get to simply appoint the city chief.
- 24:03Just simmer on that one for a minute. And that's
- 24:06this whole story with the police department...
- 24:09city attorneys see he didn't give me advice he
- 24:13vetoed me and he doesn't have that authority
- 24:16in statute I have the authority by statute to
- 24:20make an appointment he's using I'm the decider
- 24:22here a personnel rule to tell me that I lack
- 24:27authority he's not backing me up and in fact
- 24:30I have hired private counsel because I've lost
- 24:35his faith I have no faith in the city attorney,
- 24:38not to advise me as the mayor. I believe he tilts
- 24:43the table. This is ten years of documentation
- 24:49of city attorneys attacking our police chief.
- 24:55Oh, no! That's what happens in this city. How
- 24:58do you know something is a cult, Scott? Acoustic
- 25:01guitars and underage runaways? And badges. And
- 25:05that's what this vote is really all about. It
- 25:08is about a power play in City Hall by unelected
- 25:13officials Who want to overturn your choice? Well,
- 25:19I am the mayor what it's and I have a buddy.
- 25:22Oh my god, but it's in the state code Like the
- 25:27city attorney is just going it this law This
- 25:29is a law that exists and you can't do it this
- 25:32way and Dan Guggen's like I'm in charge here
- 25:35I am the mayor I pick the police chief How dare
- 25:39you, unelected bureaucrat, tell me that I can't
- 25:45appoint, in an unelected way, the police chief.
- 25:49I am the mayor. Here's what's amazing too. Let's
- 25:52not forget. I am the mayor. I am the mayor. Let's
- 25:57not forget that I'd like to just quickly remind
- 26:03you of the stats from the November 2025 election.
- 26:08where Dan Gukin was elected the mayor of Coeur
- 26:10d 'Alene, where he's like, hey, remember, I'm
- 26:12your choice, not this elected, unelected bureaucrat.
- 26:16The official vote count for Dan Gukin was 3 ,265
- 26:21votes. He got 34 % of the vote against versus
- 26:25Debbie Loughman, Woody McEvers, and John Pulsifer.
- 26:27There were 9 ,618 total ballots cast for mayor.
- 26:32The city of like 60 ,000 people. Yes, Kootenay
- 26:35County's registered voters is over almost a hundred
- 26:38eight thousand and the overall turnout was twenty
- 26:41eight point four percent. In other words, for
- 26:44the city of Coeur d 'Alene that elects the mayor,
- 26:47which was Dan Gouken, it's even less than that.
- 26:48It is much smaller. Yes. And of the one in four
- 26:54roughly people who actually voted, only one in
- 26:58three of those voted for Gouken. So what is that?
- 27:02Like one seventh, one eighth. Let's not. I mean,
- 27:05that's if the proportions are exactly identical,
- 27:07but they're not. So it's probably more like one
- 27:09in nine. So one ninth. Even that's probably being
- 27:14charitable of people in Kootenai County. No,
- 27:17one ninth of registered voters, not even the
- 27:19population, because the population in Kootenai
- 27:21County is close to a quarter of a million now.
- 27:23Registered voters is somewhere in the 140, 160
- 27:26range. I think maybe 120. You said you said 120.
- 27:29According to the ultra net. Yeah, it's like 120
- 27:31registered voters in Kootenai. It says 100, 108.
- 27:35It says registered voters. 108. Okay. In a county
- 27:38that has, it's pushing the quarter of a million,
- 27:40I think at this point. Um, so wow. Okay. Yeah.
- 27:46Pretty impressive stuff. I am the mayor. I'm
- 27:48the mayor. I am the mayor. I didn't, I don't
- 27:51You know, I know you don't, you don't have to
- 27:53win. Oh, I'm on it, buddy. Don't worry. Don't
- 27:57you worry your pretty little head. I've got plenty
- 27:59of new gook stuff out of this. By the end of
- 28:02today, we are going to be googly for gooking.
- 28:05You don't have to win a majority or anything
- 28:08like that. Like in order to win an election,
- 28:09you just have to win the election as the election
- 28:11is structured. So he won the mayor election.
- 28:13We understand that. All I'm saying, all we're
- 28:16saying is the notion of being like, well, hey,
- 28:18man, I'm the public's choice. Like, yeah, while
- 28:21you did win the election, I'm not really sure
- 28:24you can claim that, like, where everyone's behind
- 28:26you, you know? I have a mandate. Three thousand
- 28:30people voted for me. All right. Let's keep going
- 28:32here. And almost all of them live within three
- 28:35city blocks downtown. Oh, my gosh. I am the mayor.
- 28:38This is when Dan Guggen at the next interview.
- 28:42It's going to go like this with whoever is the
- 28:44next city attorney or maybe the police chief
- 28:46or maybe the mayor. Either way, I just envision
- 28:48all three of those involved in this sort of situation.
- 28:51What would you say you do here? Right. I'm a
- 28:56people person. I pick the police chief to be
- 28:59good for the people. I have people skills. I
- 29:02am good at dealing with people. Can't you understand
- 29:05that? What the hell is wrong with you people?
- 29:08I am the mayor. And I have authority to make
- 29:12this appointment. And it is my opinion that the
- 29:16city attorney and others have poisoned this council
- 29:20and biased them against me and against the police
- 29:25chief. Which is so great. That's so great. You
- 29:29want to know why. And I know this is pretty heavy
- 29:31duty. But I am tired of this shit. I'm tired
- 29:36of having a city attorney who doesn't tell me
- 29:39what the law is. who tells me his opinion that's
- 29:43biased, that he tilts the table. Mr. Mayor, I
- 29:47told you what the law says. I am giving you my
- 29:51opinion. Please don't interrupt me. Do not interrupt
- 29:53me. Do not interrupt me. I'm speaking. Don't
- 29:56interrupt the king. Remember, this is the same
- 29:58thing that went on with the Kootenai County commissioners
- 30:00where, you know, like Bella Kovacs was like,
- 30:03yes, excuse me. Who's this on the line? This
- 30:05is Bella Kovacs. You totally knew I was calling
- 30:07in. It's on the minutes. I'm the assessor and
- 30:09we planned this phone call. You wanted me to.
- 30:15Oh, yeah, that's a good callback, too. That is
- 30:17I forgot about that. They they bring Bella Kovacs
- 30:21to them. They're like, you got to come talk to
- 30:23us. And then he does. And they're like, who are
- 30:25you? Who's this? What the fuck are you talking
- 30:27about? I am the county assessor. Oh, my God,
- 30:33dude. Here's our supreme leader. Wait, Gukin's
- 30:36only been mayor for like what? November of 20
- 30:41months. Yeah. 25. I think the election was in
- 30:442025. It was. Yeah. So what? He's been mayor
- 30:48for like five months. Yeah. Boy. That escalated
- 30:52quickly. I mean that really got out of hand fast.
- 30:57I am the mayor. Do not accuse me of doing something
- 31:03unethical. Why are you pissing on me? Why do
- 31:08you do this? I am not pissing on you. I am giving
- 31:11you what? You are not telling him when I asked
- 31:16you last Thursday when this when this agenda
- 31:19was approved I said do you have an issue with
- 31:22this item and you said you did not that's in
- 31:24the minutes Why didn't you bring it up then I
- 31:29had given you my opinion. I did not want to Yeah,
- 31:33that was if I was wondering what that is listen,
- 31:34why didn't you bring it up then? Yeah, who's
- 31:36somebody's munching on popcorn? Maybe maybe all
- 31:39the gallery a good show requires popcorn I had
- 31:44given you immediately conjured up the gif of
- 31:46Michael Jackson eating popcorn at the movies
- 31:48just now. He's like, yeah I did not want to embarrass
- 31:51you in front of other people. So you're gonna
- 31:53embarrass me in a council meeting? So you're
- 31:55gonna do it in front of the council? Apparently
- 31:57so. You may, you decided to continue with the
- 32:00motion despite legal counsel's decision. This
- 32:03is the shit. You guys see the shit that's going
- 32:04on right now? You see the pushback from the city
- 32:07attorney? You wonder who's been poisoned up here?
- 32:10Who's been told not to talk to the police association?
- 32:13Not to talk to the interim chief? Who's been
- 32:16told to ignore things? This is what's going on
- 32:19in this city. And I'm trying to fix it. Speaking
- 32:22of shit, Guggen is losing his. He's over here
- 32:25just like, I hope you flip your bike over and
- 32:27knock your two front teeth out. But I'm getting
- 32:29pushback. I have a legal right to make this appointment.
- 32:33And if you don't like it, you can sue me. Excuse
- 32:35me, Mr. Mayor. What? I respectfully ask that
- 32:42we return to some decorum and respect for one
- 32:44another. We're here to do business tonight. We
- 32:47have an audience full of community members and
- 32:50teammates. And I respectfully ask that we try
- 32:54to control ourselves and conduct business that's
- 32:57best for our citizens. OK, pause it. Pause it,
- 33:00please. All right, three things. At least three,
- 33:03I think, off the top of my head. Real quick,
- 33:04I got to unpack. Number one, Dan Gukin was everybody's
- 33:09golden boy down there. He had the support of
- 33:12everybody down there, the entire establishment
- 33:14almost. Maybe with the exception of like one
- 33:18council member down there He was the guy everybody
- 33:21wanted so either he's just absolutely lost his
- 33:25mind and because he's not getting his way here
- 33:27He thinks they're poisoned against him or they
- 33:30really did just flip that fast Which would be
- 33:32pretty wild to go from a lifelong support of
- 33:35this guy because Dan Guggen has been the golden
- 33:37boy in Coeur d 'Alene forever So all of a sudden
- 33:41either everybody changed their minds or gookin
- 33:43is just showing what we already knew to be true
- 33:46and that he's Not exactly the most stable guy
- 33:49number two is I mean, this is this is just Starting
- 33:54to heat up here. He's this is maybe the first
- 33:57time he's experienced any kind of real pushback
- 34:00Yeah, and if this is how it goes when he experiences
- 34:02any real pushback Look out number three is that
- 34:06as far as I can tell? what now he may not like
- 34:09the way the city attorney went about it and that's
- 34:11a legitimate gripe and Those bastards play dirty.
- 34:14I don't care what anybody says they're unethical
- 34:16and they play dirty. Well, they're immoral They
- 34:19may not be unethical, but they're definitely
- 34:20immoral and they play dirty But as far as we
- 34:24could tell the city attorney whose name just
- 34:27now escaped me already It sounds like he's just
- 34:29reading off state statutes. Just like this. This
- 34:33is what it says dude and Dukukin's I guess pretty
- 34:36upset about it Randy Adams is his name, the city
- 34:40attorney. Randy Adams, he sounds like the kid
- 34:43picked last for T -ball. Oh God, I don't want
- 34:46Randy. Not Randy. Mr. Mayor. What? Not Randy.
- 34:51You can hear too, let me kind of try to boost
- 34:53this. What? You can hear, listen, let me here,
- 34:56generate, volume and compression, amplify. Here,
- 35:00listen to this, you can hear people laughing.
- 35:02Mr. Mayor. What? Everyone the gallery sort of
- 35:07laughs. It's a it's almost like it's like the
- 35:09the Gooken show and a film in front of a live
- 35:12studio audience in Coeur d 'Alene, Idaho It's
- 35:13the Dan Gooken show The applause sign lights
- 35:18up the laughter sign. Well, I would wager this
- 35:22to be fair and in defense of the unknown People
- 35:25I can't see or know anything about I would reckon
- 35:27I would wager a lot of that is you know how the
- 35:30it's the the Uncomfortable laugh the awkward
- 35:32laugh like we don't know what to do. This whole
- 35:33thing is horrifically uncomfortable. So We're
- 35:36going to, we've got to chuckle. Yeah. You know,
- 35:38that kind of thing. We've all been there. You
- 35:40know, what's up. Here's the very end of this,
- 35:42where, um, it sounds, there was a, it was cut
- 35:44to this. So I don't know how long had elapsed,
- 35:46but he, um, had gotten his wits about him. He
- 35:49had taken a couple. For the record, they do,
- 35:52uh, film at least last, I know they film all
- 35:56of these. So you can get the full unedited, um,
- 35:59version of it. I'm pretty sure somewhere on the
- 36:01city council website, I think, I think they have
- 36:03them all, uh, recorded filmed cataloged. archived,
- 36:07yada, yada, yada. So it's all. So even if so,
- 36:09if they did cut a bunch of stuff, if you want
- 36:11the full meal deal, it's out there. Good luck.
- 36:15I am going to pull the council right now. Thank
- 36:17you. And I do admit that I get very passionate
- 36:20about things. So this was late. I don't know
- 36:22how much later, but this was this was later.
- 36:24The other thing. Yeah. The other thing I wanted
- 36:27to unpack real fast. Sorry. I apologize, but
- 36:28I got to say this to you. This matters. Well,
- 36:31I'm doing it. What, Scott? What? How dare you
- 36:37tilt the table against me? I am the host of this
- 36:41show. Ah, crap. You win. It's the very last part
- 36:51of it. And then you can. OK, if this had been
- 36:52almost anybody other than Guggen, they would
- 36:54not have gotten away with this. Like, OK, it
- 36:57made news. We got the audio files at the press
- 37:00reported it. But. really look at how it's been
- 37:04reported. It has been treated with kid gloves,
- 37:06just like, Oh, there's Dan Gukin having a fit,
- 37:08but that's okay. Good old Dan. Like if this had
- 37:12been like my dad at an NIC council meeting, heads
- 37:17would have exploded. All the heads would have
- 37:19exploded. It would have been national news. You
- 37:22know, the fucking mother Jones would have called
- 37:24up and been like, Oh, we heard about the nuclear
- 37:27meltdown. Do you want to tell us the story and
- 37:30why Todd is so evil? far right Ku Klux Klan or
- 37:34Todd Hitler. Banducci throws temper tantrum amid
- 37:38issues, threats, issues, threats to city attorney
- 37:43wants to like a tyrant wants to appoint so and
- 37:48so and have no vote anti anti -democracy, you
- 37:51know, anti -democracy mayor wants to appoint
- 37:55chief police and shouts. I am the mayor. I make
- 37:58the decisions. I mean, just imagine all the different
- 38:00ways this would play. So I had to get that out
- 38:03there because we deconstruct this stuff. They
- 38:06are treating this with such kid gloves. It's
- 38:08so obvious. Had it been anybody else, especially
- 38:11anybody of a conservative volition, mines would
- 38:14have been lost. Let's illustrate that point,
- 38:17Rook. The initial network affiliate That I had
- 38:21played was, I believe, four news now. The Crime
- 38:23Channel 2's was a little bit shorter. And let's
- 38:26break away from the full source audio and just
- 38:28go back to one of the mainstream media's presentations
- 38:30of it to your point. This morning, Coeur d 'Alene
- 38:32Mayor Dan Guggen formally requested the city
- 38:34attorney, Randy Adams, resign. He formally requested
- 38:37resign. Guggen was not happy with how he handled
- 38:41Tuesday's city council meeting when they were
- 38:43choosing the next police chief. He told our news
- 38:46partners. That's it. That's how they say it.
- 38:48So either they didn't listen to the audio, like
- 38:51we have, or what do you know, they have an agenda.
- 38:55Because had this been a different person saying
- 38:57the same things, they would have reported this
- 39:00so differently. The Coeur d 'Alene press, Adams
- 39:02waited until the council meeting to bring up
- 39:04his concerns about one of the candidates, Dave
- 39:06Hager. Gukin had appointed Hager and says Adams
- 39:09did this to embarrass him. Right now, Adams is
- 39:12out of office until May, so we were not able
- 39:14to get a comment from him. Regardless, though,
- 39:17the council chose Greg Yeager to be the new police
- 39:20chief. Yes, he's on a six week from Denver, Colorado,
- 39:24Denver, California, Denver, California. And last
- 39:26we heard he was in Maui, the Philippines, the
- 39:31city attorney or I don't know. Yeah. Whoever
- 39:33the hell. Yeah. Adams on vacation. I know what
- 39:35you're doing there. After hearing most of this
- 39:38source audio here, does does that report sound
- 39:41to you? like a an assessment of what was actually
- 39:45of what went on here. Is this a rhetorical question?
- 39:49Because right now, here's how I feel. Gotcha,
- 39:51bitch. Yeah. Here's the here's the very red handed.
- 39:54The very last part of this, where at some time
- 39:57later, I don't know if it was the next day or
- 40:00later in the day or whatever, once the rolling
- 40:03boil of Gooken's blood had stopped, this is what
- 40:05he said. Good luck. No, here, hold on. Thank
- 40:08you. And I do admit here here it is channeling
- 40:11his inner Liam Neeson Good luck, and I do admit
- 40:15that I get very passionate about things I get
- 40:18really wound up and I can get real excited Especially
- 40:22when I think I'm being abused he's being abused
- 40:24Oh being abused or Dan they never ever ever would
- 40:28allow most people to get away with that Here
- 40:31is a new No ID exclusive. I have a Dan Gukin
- 40:35supercut that I used some of our old audio from
- 40:39him and some of this new audio. And here's what
- 40:41I put together for your enjoyment. I am the mayor
- 40:43and I felt really gay last night. I have authority
- 40:47to come over for a gay time. I am tired of pussy.
- 40:51And if you don't like it, you can sue me. Bless
- 40:59you. Bless you, Scott Moskowitz. You're welcome.
- 41:04I am tired of pussy. Yeah, we know. Gay. Yeah,
- 41:09dude, you're amazing. Shut up and take my money.
- 41:13Yes, that's a great point. Where are we at here?
- 41:1644? Yeah, good enough. Speaking of shut up and
- 41:18take my money. We have tons more to get to. I
- 41:22can't believe we only did two clips on that first
- 41:24segment. What can you do? You knew it was going
- 41:25to take a while. That one is too good. This program
- 41:30runs on value for value. No idea is a sponsor
- 41:33free show. there are no advertisers and there
- 41:36are no sponsors we will never have those we remain
- 41:39free from outside influence liberty is the overarching
- 41:43theme of this show and as such we run on the
- 41:47value for value model and not the advertiser
- 41:49model value for value means that if you find
- 41:53our program valuable that you contribute back
- 41:55value to the show simple as that we try to bring
- 41:58the value with this program it's free there's
- 42:00no paywalls there's no subscriber only content
- 42:02We just put the show out there every Thursday.
- 42:04And if you find it valuable, we ask that you
- 42:06contribute back value to the show. No ID show
- 42:09.com is where you can go to do all that. There
- 42:11are some new new features on the website, including
- 42:14a little wall of founding donors and honoring
- 42:19the founding donors of this program. Did you
- 42:20check out that graphic? You showed it to me last
- 42:24night. Yeah, just what? Yes. And I'm wondering
- 42:26how if you did what the mainstream media does
- 42:29and does not even listen to the source audio,
- 42:31you just like glance and go, okay, that's her
- 42:32part. Or if you actually like, you know, zoomed
- 42:34around and took a look at it, there was a lot
- 42:35going on. Okay. Well, if you're going to put
- 42:37me on the spot like that, and I'm going to know,
- 42:39I'm going to, I brought the receipts. I brought
- 42:41the receipts. You son of a bitch. I did look
- 42:43at it and I quote, it's Ron Swanson meets no
- 42:49ID. I like it. So yeah, I did take a look at
- 42:53it. I took a look at the no step on snake flag
- 42:55I took a look at the lookouts. I thought that
- 42:57was cool I liked how you incorporated the list
- 43:00of notes with it said bias and Framing and basically
- 43:04all the shitty things that mainstream media does
- 43:07I like that We have a themed coffee mug and now
- 43:09I think we need to make merch really feel like
- 43:11that's the next thing Right, right. I mean right,
- 43:16you know between the state budget cuts And our
- 43:18budget cuts, we're killing our listeners, Scott.
- 43:21It's time we step up our game. Literally. So
- 43:24sorry. No, I thought it was great. So you sent
- 43:27me the graphic. I looked at it. I have the receipts.
- 43:30Go check your phone, Hoser. Put me on blast like
- 43:32that. How dare you? Well, for one, I asked. I
- 43:35was just asking questions, man. And I thought
- 43:38you would appreciate the sky cloth that I integrated.
- 43:43I did appreciate the sky cloth. So how dare you
- 43:47embarrass me in front of the rest of this council
- 43:49and tilt the table? I'm the mayor of these things
- 43:52in private next time. I am the color commentary.
- 43:57I'm good with the people and the words. What
- 44:00the hell is wrong with you people? Please go
- 44:03check it out. It's at the bottom. It's at the
- 44:05bottom of the website. It's a cool graphic. And
- 44:07if you have been a a donor to this program, if
- 44:11you have contributed back value in the form of
- 44:15uh, treasure specifically, uh, you might just
- 44:18find your name on that plaque. Yes. And that
- 44:21is the it's guaranteed. You will true that it's
- 44:23not really like a treasure hunt. It's like a,
- 44:25it's going to be there and you don't even need
- 44:27a map. Just get on the interwebs, look it up
- 44:30and go find your name for the record. Since Scott
- 44:33decided to put me on blast, I'm going to fight
- 44:35back a little bit here. That was my idea. The
- 44:38wall of fame, by the way. So everybody who gets
- 44:40this, enjoy your name and this awesome graphic
- 44:43that Scott did make. but the idea was mine. And
- 44:46as we all know, intellectual property is nine
- 44:49tenths of the law. So get bent, Moskowitz. Ew.
- 45:13could be in any form of those things that you
- 45:17contribute back to the show, taking your time
- 45:19to send boots on the ground reports or a notes
- 45:23about, you know, feedback notes or by the way,
- 45:28I have one of those that I have to pull up here.
- 45:30Even if you never have contributed actual like
- 45:32hard currency to the show, anybody who submits
- 45:36worthy Guggen audio files, your name goes on
- 45:39the wall of fame too. It's just as good as cash.
- 45:41Just find us some more juicy stuff. Scott needs
- 45:44to keep working on that super cut and make it
- 45:46even better. Yes. So I'll read this quickly as
- 45:51a note that came in from, he actually still,
- 45:55it leads off with no need to share my name. So
- 45:57I will not. He says, thanks for sharing value
- 46:00to me. I'm going to go investigate the hockey
- 46:02situation. Also, Wayne Gretzky, AKA the great
- 46:06It's actually the great one, but aka the great
- 46:09has some kind of involvement with the rink down
- 46:11there He's talking about frontier ice, which
- 46:13we had mentioned on the last program is building
- 46:16a new sheet over there in Coeur d 'Alene Yes,
- 46:18he does and I knew that he does I think he founded
- 46:21a hockey school and stuff because Gretzky has
- 46:22a has a place on Lake Coeur d 'Alene I've run
- 46:24into him on the lake who doesn't yeah, right
- 46:27exactly. Yeah. No, I don't I know he actually
- 46:29haunts the area He does, and I saw his ghost
- 46:32and his wife's ghost and I'll relate this quickly
- 46:35because it was a good one. A few years ago on
- 46:37the lake I spotted his boat and he had just commissioned
- 46:39this boat from I think Stan Crafter was one of
- 46:42those custom beautiful wood boats and it had
- 46:45been featured in the press and I had seen pictures
- 46:49of this new boat that had been delivered to Gretzky.
- 46:52And so I spotted it. Like, I think it was Memorial
- 46:55Day or Labor Day or whatever a few years ago.
- 46:57And we were over in Beauty Bay, me and some friends,
- 47:00we had our boat, we had a couple of jet skis
- 47:02and I saw it. I was like, that's Gretzky. So
- 47:05I took a jet ski and I buzzed over there and,
- 47:07you know, just to be a stalker crew. You took
- 47:09a jet ski to go hang out with Gretzky? Yeah.
- 47:12You're a poet and you didn't even know it. Yeah.
- 47:14So what I did is I buzzed over there. Oh, I knew
- 47:16it. I title waved him. No, I just buzzed over
- 47:19there and I just kind of went up and he had,
- 47:21so it hits. Go back to California, bitch. Aren't
- 47:26you from Smell, eh? No, Denver. Denver, yeah,
- 47:31Denver, Mississippi. The boat was full of like
- 47:35big buff looking, like they look like professional
- 47:37athletes. And it was Gretzky and his wife was
- 47:39there and there was a lot of people in the boat,
- 47:40as you might imagine. And I sort of buzzed over
- 47:43there and I just kind of like. tip my cap and
- 47:45I was like, uh, Hey, just, you know, just wanted
- 47:48to say, uh, you know, hockey is a big part of
- 47:49my life and you're the reason, uh, you're, you're
- 47:51a big part of the reason. So, uh, you know, you,
- 47:53you rock whatever tip of the cap and, you know,
- 47:56he gave me the little tip of the cap back. And
- 47:57then the, all the other professional athlete
- 47:59guys who were all, you know, young twenties,
- 48:01whatever started going like, Oh, damn legend
- 48:05legend. And I learned later that there was some,
- 48:09like a charity golf tournament that Gretzky was
- 48:11one of the either sponsors or hosts or whatever.
- 48:14And these were, those were NFL players. They
- 48:16were professional football players and they were
- 48:18out there with him. So from their perspective,
- 48:21you know. So on a boat full of NFL players, it's
- 48:24the hockey guy who gets recognized. Who's been
- 48:26retired for 30 years. Yeah. Like, you know, I
- 48:29went over there and like I could care, I didn't
- 48:31even notice or could give a, give a flying about
- 48:36who any of those guys were. I was just there
- 48:38to say hi to Gretzky, the star who's been retired
- 48:40for a million years. So those guys were like,
- 48:43damn dude, legend. Well -deserved. Yeah, well,
- 48:47you and I, neither of us watch Hand Eggs, so
- 48:49how are we gonna know what the full book writers
- 48:50look like? Touche. So just to continue the anonymous's
- 48:54note here, Wayne Gretzky, AKA The Great One,
- 48:56has some kind of involvement with The Rink down
- 48:58there. I have a set of sweats. Gretzky hockey
- 49:01sweats, sweatpants that he gave my brother. It's
- 49:04a local thing. My brother and I grew up playing
- 49:07and are both huge fans. I also enjoyed Paul's
- 49:10appearance on Dave's podcast. I think he's talking
- 49:13about the backlash. It's not very backlash with
- 49:16Dave Riley. There you go. It's not very often.
- 49:18I learned a thing, new things about the quote
- 49:21community, close quote leaders, leaders, leaders.
- 49:24And he spelled it L I T E R S. So we see what
- 49:27you did there. Anonymous. Nice. Fun note. And
- 49:30you know what's funny too? There's actually a
- 49:32note from I believe executive producer Kevin
- 49:35Killian sent a note about the rink too. It's
- 49:37funny that that that particular clip at the very
- 49:40end of the show was what inspired the most amount
- 49:43of you never know what's going to get people
- 49:45to the bells to go off. Let me pull up Kevin's.
- 49:48Hockey strikes me as one of those things that's
- 49:50like a pseudo underground type activity. It's
- 49:55a community that exists and it's bigger than
- 49:57everybody thinks and somehow manages to keep
- 50:00a low profile. But there's plenty of people who
- 50:02share its orbit. You're right. That's a good
- 50:05assessment. So here's Kevin says, Ari hockey
- 50:09rinks slash times all of the youth sports slash
- 50:13figure skating. They require. parental involvement,
- 50:17like transportation. Parents have jobs and kids
- 50:19have school, 8 to 5 Monday through Friday, or
- 50:21thereabouts. That leaves a small window of evenings
- 50:24slash weekends for all of the rec leagues and
- 50:27travel teams and late nights for beer league.
- 50:30My guess that frontier is empty, is just straight
- 50:32up empty during the daytime Monday to Friday.
- 50:35And he said, I'm flying home from Indianapolis
- 50:37listening. So he's probably right. And like I
- 50:39said, I've never even gone over there. And maybe
- 50:42it just is empty. competitive tournament paintball
- 50:45actually works the same way that's very, very
- 50:47narrow windows of time when we play. And it's
- 50:49because, um, well, a number of different reasons,
- 50:52but a very important reason that often gets overlooked.
- 50:54Same thing with hockey. Neither of them are inexpensive
- 50:57activities. They're not an expensive sports.
- 51:00The gear is expensive to continue to play is
- 51:03expensive. The travel is just, it is not expensive.
- 51:05It's not cheap to play. Whereas with soccer,
- 51:08you need a ball. That's it. That's all you need
- 51:11a ball with basketball. you need hoops, but just
- 51:16it, just a hoop even in there. And they're everywhere.
- 51:19You know, with football, you need an egg shaped
- 51:23ball. That's about it. I mean, play it, I guess
- 51:26to play it hardcore, you need, you need some
- 51:28gear too. But anyways, the point is you have
- 51:31to have a job to be able to play hockey or to
- 51:34afford your kids to play hockey. Same thing with
- 51:35paintball. Like there are very few guys in the
- 51:38competitive tournament paintball world who aren't
- 51:39squared away. They have to be their lives have
- 51:42to be squared away. You can't play at a high
- 51:44level unless you are. I think that probably tracks
- 51:46pretty hard with hockey, too. And I would also
- 51:48wager that the communities both share a lot of
- 51:50similar values, culture, ideas about things.
- 51:54That helps. Helps a lot. I appreciate the always
- 51:57love the feedback. It's tons of fun. Thanks,
- 51:59guys. And thanks for the insight on that, Kevin,
- 52:01because, yeah, that tracks. I think the sport
- 52:03I love paintball shares a lot of similarities
- 52:07there. I'll give you a quick uh, even finer point
- 52:10about the notion of of equipment and what it
- 52:13takes to actually participate in the sport and
- 52:15why You know kicky ball is the chosen sport of
- 52:18the third world even within hockey Like there's
- 52:22still a tier there that everybody recognizes
- 52:24like i'm a i'm a goaltender and I have been my
- 52:27whole life like since since I basically started
- 52:28playing it's really the only position i've ever
- 52:30played and Even amongst the equipment of hockey
- 52:34players Goaltender equipment is the most expensive
- 52:37of that and everyone knows that and so therefore
- 52:40like in beer league you pay either not at all
- 52:44or Like half of what everyone else pays because
- 52:47everyone knows that for one There's not that
- 52:50many goalies and you can't have a game without
- 52:51a goalie and for two all of your stuff is more
- 52:54expensive Yeah, yeah there again similarities
- 52:58a little bit It executes a little differently,
- 53:01but paintball is the same way. You've got your
- 53:03front players, your back players. The mid position
- 53:06is kind of going away these days, but there was
- 53:08mid positions too. And your back players, they
- 53:11got to walk out there with 10 pods of paint.
- 53:14And they're shooting half a case per point, whereas
- 53:17your front players were shooting three pods,
- 53:20two pods maybe. It's a huge discrepancy in who's
- 53:23shooting how much paint based on the job. And
- 53:26you always do team paint. You do team paint.
- 53:28You don't make your back players pay their own
- 53:29paint bill because that'd be a pretty shitty
- 53:31thing to have to do to basically pay triple to
- 53:34get less of the glory. But your job is just as
- 53:37important. Well, speaking of important ways,
- 53:41go to no ID show .com and please contribute back
- 53:44value to the program. If you find it to be valuable
- 53:47to you and only you can determine what value
- 53:50means. We love numerology. There is a menu on
- 53:53the website with some No ID classic amounts or
- 53:57whatever value means to you. No ID show .com.
- 54:01No ID show .com. Yeah, do me a favor, guys. Show
- 54:08appreciation for the time Scott put in to rebuild
- 54:11and all that stuff, because all of the ideas
- 54:13were mine because I'm pretty awesome. But all
- 54:15of the execution were Scott's because I made
- 54:20I made the Hebrew do the work. Well, I like being
- 54:23here, man. At least I get Sirloin. And as of
- 54:28a couple nights ago some of my some of my Schmeckles
- 54:30at the poker table I spent most of the drive
- 54:40home just slowly sniffing the bills. I hope for
- 54:45nothing less. I would actually be disappointed
- 54:46if you didn't Yeah, well, I think we can do second
- 54:51half. Do you have a song? an intermission song?
- 54:53I do. I do. And actually I had one dialed up
- 54:55that I really, really liked, but because I pivoted,
- 54:59I'm going to pivot actually and go with something
- 55:01else because it, now that I had put it into everybody's
- 55:04head earlier on, I'm going to just pay them off.
- 55:07We're going to play it. Okay. Well, I'm going
- 55:09to go hit the head. I'll be right back. I know
- 58:31who's known for like the gen state. I mean, when
- 58:38are we ever happy when listening to fun songs
- 58:41like this? Tub thumping. I haven't heard that
- 58:45song all the way through in quite a while. It's
- 58:48been a long while and I thought We got to give
- 58:51the people what they want Scott I can't dial
- 58:53up 15 seconds of that song and then not give
- 58:55them the rest of it. So We can't yes. Yeah, I
- 58:58mean for a you know a song that came out right
- 59:00around the time Wayne Gretzky retired I'm sure
- 59:02people are missing it. You didn't know what we
- 59:05had You never truly know what you have until
- 59:07it's gone speaking of that In Idaho tonight,
- 59:12where the Gem State remembers former Governor
- 59:14Dirk Kempthorne. He died at the age of 74 in
- 59:16Boise last night. Current Idaho Governor Brad
- 59:19Little ordered flags to half staff until the
- 59:23day after his memorial service. Kempthorne was
- 59:25elected governor of the Gem State back in 1998
- 59:28and reelected in 2002. He later served as Secretary
- 59:31of the Interior for the Bush administration from
- 59:342006 to 2009. Governor Little released a statement
- 59:38saying a part quote, Friendship goes back to
- 59:41our college days where Dirk and I shared the
- 59:43same state government class, an experience that
- 59:45helped set the course for a lifetime of public
- 59:48service service for him. Dirk's career was marked
- 59:50by extraordinary service. Uniparty 101. We were
- 59:55in the same frat. We frequently occupied the
- 59:59same back rooms. Yeah, one side worked for the
- 1:00:03Clinton administration, one side worked for the
- 1:00:05Bush administration, but they all attended each
- 1:00:06other's parties and weddings and bar vitzvas
- 1:00:08and everything else. Dirk's career was bought
- 1:00:11by extraordinary service service at every level.
- 1:00:15Now, former governor, Ken Thorne, are you the
- 1:00:16one purposely doubling that service service?
- 1:00:20No, no. The mainstream media is just bringing
- 1:00:23the point up. Now, of course, it's me, dude.
- 1:00:24No shit. Really? That's the second time they've
- 1:00:26done that. And it's it's just like leader, leader,
- 1:00:29leaders, man. Yeah, no, you have your years of
- 1:00:30service, service, service, a lifetime of public
- 1:00:33service service for him. Dirk's career was bought
- 1:00:36by it's not service. my extraordinary service,
- 1:00:40service at every level. I love the part where
- 1:00:43you thought that might not have been me. All
- 1:00:46right, let's finish this. I thought it was you.
- 1:00:48It is me. Of course it's me. Okay. Hey, you think
- 1:00:53the newsreader is glitching out? Hey, listen,
- 1:00:56the last speech we listened to by Governor Little,
- 1:01:00he told us about how he was trying to pervert
- 1:01:03the state. Yeah, Touche. Yeah. And you know what
- 1:01:08I'm talking about. I'm picking up what you're
- 1:01:10putting down. Now, former Governor Ken Thorne
- 1:01:12was the chairman of the USS Idaho Commissioning
- 1:01:15Committee, and back in January, the U .S. Navy
- 1:01:17announced the submarine's engine room would be
- 1:01:19named after him. Our Boise Sister Station spoke
- 1:01:22with him at the time about the honor. I've been
- 1:01:25there since day one for the ship, and we have
- 1:01:28such a team that surrounds us. So when I say
- 1:01:31humble, there's a lot of folks that need to receive
- 1:01:34accolades for what they've done for this ship.
- 1:01:36I'm amazed. I'm just amazed, and it's a tremendous
- 1:01:41honor. Then you pay for it. I will, for the rest
- 1:01:44of my life, support that ship, that crew, and
- 1:01:49the family. Now I have some USS Idaho clip here
- 1:01:53quickly, and you know, Brad Little gave a speech
- 1:01:56at the commissioning, and that just happened
- 1:01:59a couple days ago. I do find it funny where he
- 1:02:02was like, you know, you just heard the voice
- 1:02:03of the late Dirk Kempthorne, and he said, I find
- 1:02:08it humbling or I'm humbled by the notion of the
- 1:02:11engine room of this speedy sea cucumber is named
- 1:02:15after me. Well, it seems to me to be the opposite
- 1:02:20of humbling. Why would you be humbled by that?
- 1:02:22It seems like if it wasn't named after you, that
- 1:02:26you were passed over, that would be humbling.
- 1:02:28If somebody named a rock hard sea wiener after
- 1:02:31me, I would be very proud. I would be too. How
- 1:02:35many missiles does this thing have? You guys
- 1:02:37aren't firing blanks, right? You guys got a lot
- 1:02:39of semen in here? How many semen can you fit
- 1:02:41in this? That big crew? How fast does this thing
- 1:02:45go? Can it go in reverse? How deep? You see this
- 1:02:54a lot with like, let's say, let's say I remember
- 1:02:57hearing it growing up. What? You see this a lot.
- 1:02:58What are you, Senator Handy from Idaho? I've
- 1:03:03seen people in every way, shape or form all over
- 1:03:05the world going to the bathroom. I've seen it
- 1:03:08in every way, shape or form all over the world.
- 1:03:11the sort of opposite descriptors being used for
- 1:03:15stuff where it like seems to be sort of inverted.
- 1:03:17I remember always hearing, oh, bullies, you know,
- 1:03:20school bullies, they're, they're cowardly. They're
- 1:03:22really cowardly. And I remember thinking cowardly.
- 1:03:26I, there are a lot of things like assholes and
- 1:03:28you know, dumbbells or whatever they are, but
- 1:03:30cowardly. No, no more like calculated. Right.
- 1:03:35Cowards don't go up and shove people into lockers.
- 1:03:37Cowards run the opposite direction and with their
- 1:03:40tail between their legs. Cowards let it happen.
- 1:03:43Yes. And they also like you would hear it with
- 1:03:46I remember you describe like when Columbine happened.
- 1:03:50Oh, this very cowardly act. It's a cowardly act.
- 1:03:53When people commit atrocities, it is oftentimes
- 1:03:56described by the mainstream as a cowardly act.
- 1:03:59It seems like the opposite of that. It's a lot
- 1:04:01of things like evil and depraved, but cowardly,
- 1:04:05that seems like an inversion. It's a coping mechanism.
- 1:04:07It's something you say to make yourself or others
- 1:04:10feel better. You know, be like, Oh, well, they're
- 1:04:12just cowards. It's like, well, what they did
- 1:04:15was really shitty, but not cowardly. It seems
- 1:04:18like it takes some balls. So I found that to
- 1:04:21be interesting and it happens a lot. Okay. So
- 1:04:24here is some U .S. So dirt campthorn died, big
- 1:04:28whoop. I mean, you know, everybody, well, all
- 1:04:32the establishmentarians, of course, are all big
- 1:04:34into it. And it's just an excuse to it's another
- 1:04:37opportunity. Here's the Colts again, Scott. It's
- 1:04:40another opportunity for leader worship, leader,
- 1:04:43leader, leader worship. It's like, oh, he was
- 1:04:45a great man. And now we name a boiler room after
- 1:04:48him inside a sea cucumber. And we're probably
- 1:04:51going to put a memorial of him somewhere. And
- 1:04:52we're going to fly the flags at half mass. It's
- 1:04:55like, honestly, who cares? Another ruler dies.
- 1:05:02I know it sounds really insensitive now I'm not
- 1:05:05saying he was a bad man or that I hope for his
- 1:05:07death But it is worth considering that there
- 1:05:11are so many people out there in in Idaho in Kootenai
- 1:05:15County in Idaho on planet Earth who are so much
- 1:05:18better people who have done better things Crazier
- 1:05:22things more interesting things harder things
- 1:05:25here higher caliber people by a mile and when
- 1:05:28they die We don't put the flags at half mast.
- 1:05:31It just, it drives me crazy. You know, like we
- 1:05:34ought to honor the plumbers and the linemen and
- 1:05:39those people before we ever think about honoring
- 1:05:43governors. I don't care. I care about the people
- 1:05:47who actually form society and do good things
- 1:05:51in it without the accolades or the rock hard
- 1:05:54sea cucumbers being named after them. Here is
- 1:05:59the commission story on said sea cucumber and
- 1:06:02this morning the US Navy officially commissioned
- 1:06:04the USS Idaho in Connecticut It's the first Navy
- 1:06:07combat vessel to carry the state's name and more
- 1:06:09than a hundred years of major milestones since
- 1:06:12it was it was commissioned in Connecticut Commission
- 1:06:15the USS Idaho in Connecticut. It's the first
- 1:06:17Navy combat vessel Well, you know what they should
- 1:06:20have done. This is already wrong. This is wrong
- 1:06:23in so many ways the USS, Idaho Should have been
- 1:06:26put into pond array lake and that's where it
- 1:06:28should stay. It should patrol pond array lake
- 1:06:32Make sure that Loch Ness doesn't get us You mean
- 1:06:35Nessie Oh Nessie. Yeah, people think she's in
- 1:06:39Scotland. She's in pond array lake. That place
- 1:06:40is deep, man You know Loch Ness is deep, but
- 1:06:44it's very small. You ever seen Loch Ness compared
- 1:06:47to pond array? I mean, it's like it's a tiny
- 1:06:50droppiest drop in the bucket of pond array Nice.
- 1:06:57And no, I have never compared the two bodies
- 1:06:59of water because I'm a busy person with a life.
- 1:07:03A hundred years, a major milestone since it was
- 1:07:06first named back in 2015. The nuclear powered
- 1:07:08submarines already finished sea trials and extensive
- 1:07:11testing. Organizers say it reflects a growing
- 1:07:14connection between Idaho and the Navy. Governor
- 1:07:16Little spoke at the ceremony. Oh, get ready.
- 1:07:19Idaho and the ocean. That is why this moment
- 1:07:21matters so much to the people of Idaho. We must
- 1:07:24commit ourselves to pervert what to preserving
- 1:07:28our state as the place. Oh, sorry. I might have
- 1:07:31mixed in some State of the Union there to pervert
- 1:07:34to preserve. I mean, I mean, preserve. Sorry.
- 1:07:37Have a Navy submarine. No, for a minute there.
- 1:07:41I actually thought that was a legit speech for
- 1:07:43the USS Idaho. Nice job, Scott. Thank you. Thank
- 1:07:46you very much. Have a Navy submarine bear our
- 1:07:52name. is not just an honor, it's a profound responsibility.
- 1:07:56It is a symbol of trust. Trust that the name
- 1:08:00Idaho will be carried with pride and distinction
- 1:08:03across the world's oceans. The now commissioned
- 1:08:07sub will become an active duty warship. We're
- 1:08:11here to break down the narrative, right? Bullshit.
- 1:08:15Nobody cares. Only you care. Only the leaders
- 1:08:17care. That's it. It's chest, it's chest thumping.
- 1:08:23Colts love chest thumping. How much that thing
- 1:08:26cost? I wonder how much, you know, speaking of
- 1:08:29feel good moments, I would be curious to pencil
- 1:08:31out how much that bad boy cost the residents
- 1:08:34of the state of Idaho. How much did we unwillingly
- 1:08:37pay for that fucking thing? Okay. The USS Idaho.
- 1:08:40What is the estimated what? Build cost? Sure.
- 1:08:45Okay. Let's see what the internet. Well, that'd
- 1:08:47be just build costs too. That's not development
- 1:08:48costs or anything like that. Just build. Start
- 1:08:52this is okay. Okay. This is amazing on the fly
- 1:08:56How many zeros the question big or small make
- 1:08:59your guess before the game begins? The USS, Idaho
- 1:09:06SSN 799 is Virginia class block for fast attack
- 1:09:11sea cucumber and is generally estimated to have
- 1:09:14cost about what to build I Don't know what any
- 1:09:18of that means But it sounds pretty fancy, and
- 1:09:21I know it's pretty new. I'm gonna go with, man,
- 1:09:26I know nothing about sea cucumbers. I mean, do
- 1:09:32we know how many semen fit inside of it? You
- 1:09:34might help me out. Just answer the question.
- 1:09:37Okay, okay, I bet you this bad boy's gotta be
- 1:09:41somewhere close to a billion dollars. No, not
- 1:09:47even close? No, the North Idaho NAACP judge is
- 1:09:51laughing hysterically. He's choking on his coffee.
- 1:09:53It's coming out through his nose. 2 .6, Billy.
- 1:09:59Wow. Wow. I was being charitable, wasn't I? Whoa.
- 1:10:03Who doesn't like the wing? Who doesn't like that
- 1:10:09again? Didn't someone just tell us they didn't
- 1:10:11like that? No, no. It was Jason who was like,
- 1:10:14I don't like the whistle. And I was like, what,
- 1:10:16what are you talking about? The whistle? And
- 1:10:18he's like, and I said, you mean the bell? He's
- 1:10:20like, yeah, too much bell. See, this is a, I
- 1:10:24thought he was talking about that. No, no. He
- 1:10:26was also talking about the bell, but I told him
- 1:10:28the same thing. I said, then donate asshole.
- 1:10:31And you get, you get to say how much bell, but
- 1:10:33until you, I don't, until I see a shiny schmeckle
- 1:10:35from you, you shut up. Right. Okay. Okay. Let's
- 1:10:42move on. Now hold on. I have to do, no, hold
- 1:10:45on. 2 .7 billion. Billion? Yeah. Billion. This
- 1:10:50nuclear sub is 2 .7 billion. Billion? Yeah, the
- 1:10:53nuclear sub. Hold on. Just give me a second.
- 1:10:59I'm bad at the maths, but I have a calculator,
- 1:11:01so... That cost every single man, woman, and
- 1:11:09child in Idaho, $1 ,300. How do you like that?
- 1:11:16So about half of my property taxes went to that
- 1:11:20submarine this year. Yes, that's just for that's
- 1:11:22for one sea cucumber and a vast array of equipment
- 1:11:26for all the different branches. And that's just
- 1:11:28one part of the state apparatus. Yeah. Now, and
- 1:11:34one little organism in the whole sea of aquatic
- 1:11:36killy life now. And what's great is when They
- 1:11:41have their authoritarian spaz outs and stick
- 1:11:45crowbars through the bicycle spokes of the world
- 1:11:49and economy. And then they're like, good news,
- 1:11:52we're sending you a $600 check in the mail. You're
- 1:11:56welcome. It's always some amount like that. In
- 1:12:00the most egregious of circumstances, it's like
- 1:12:031 ,300 bucks. Oh, my favorite. Well, the most
- 1:12:07recent one, incidentally, you notice it, a track
- 1:12:09record here with Orange Man. is we were told
- 1:12:13in every American is going to get refunds from
- 1:12:16these tariffs because it's not actually Americans
- 1:12:19who pay the taxes on these tariffs. It's other
- 1:12:21countries, the very good countries, but they're
- 1:12:24not as good as us, but they're going to pay the
- 1:12:26tariffs. We're going to make them pay. And then
- 1:12:28we're going to make sure that you guys get the
- 1:12:31money. Guess what's not happening right now,
- 1:12:35Scott. We're not getting the money. What you
- 1:12:38want to know who is getting the money. Walmart.
- 1:12:41What yeah, I'm sure you heard about that that
- 1:12:43doesn't sound right a big corporation no turns
- 1:12:47out That now that refunds are being given and
- 1:12:52applied for it's the companies that get to apply
- 1:12:55for and receive Refunds not the people who bought
- 1:12:59the stuff. Oh Thank you very much You're welcome
- 1:13:03America Here is speaking of money out of the
- 1:13:08pockets of the non -leader, leader, leaders.
- 1:13:11Every two years, voters in Shoshone weigh in
- 1:13:14on school district funding. And on May 19th,
- 1:13:16they'll see that supplemental levy once again.
- 1:13:19He's not quite John Webb, but he's attending
- 1:13:23the John Webb School of Elocution. Once again,
- 1:13:25I'm your Shoshone neighborhood reporter, Joey
- 1:13:27Martin, talking with neighbors and the superintendent
- 1:13:30of schools to break down what $300 ,000 per year
- 1:13:33does for the small school. school district. So
- 1:13:35I think it's a good idea. It's a common sentiment
- 1:13:38among neighbors in Shoshone. For the last 20
- 1:13:40years, voters like Marilyn Tapia have said yes
- 1:13:43to support a reoccurring two -year supplemental
- 1:13:45levy. I think it's good. Kids here do deserve
- 1:13:47to have a really good school district. I think
- 1:13:49it's good. Have a lot of awesome programs that
- 1:13:51they could be implemented. I don't know what
- 1:13:52they do with the money, but it's for kids. Superintendent
- 1:13:54of schools Rob Waite says if it isn't broken.
- 1:13:56don't fix it. It's not a new levy, it's just
- 1:13:59a continuation of the funding that's been in
- 1:14:01place for over 20 years. According to the primary
- 1:14:05election ballot, the two -year $300 ,000 levy
- 1:14:08will help support a wide array of activities
- 1:14:10and supplies for the district, but it also covers
- 1:14:12the school's ability to run all -day kindergarten
- 1:14:15and maintain a four -day school week. One of
- 1:14:17our school goals is to have student contact time.
- 1:14:20And so this levy will help support to make sure
- 1:14:22that we can continue the all day kindergarten
- 1:14:24that we've had. The second part is another program
- 1:14:28that we've had for several years, which is called
- 1:14:29our extended day program. The extended day program
- 1:14:32gives the school an extra 30 minutes a day built
- 1:14:34into the year that helps cover state required
- 1:14:37student teacher contact time. Wait tells me it's
- 1:14:39been very successful in Shoshone. Because we
- 1:14:42believe students do better when they have more
- 1:14:44contact time with their teachers. As for cost,
- 1:14:46homeowners are looking at just under $75 per
- 1:14:49$100 ,000 of assessed property value. That's
- 1:14:51all. Oh, that's how they do it. That's all. Yeah,
- 1:14:54that's all they do. That's all. That's all it
- 1:14:55is. $1 ,000 of assessed. In a region where houses
- 1:14:58have now been assessed at over half a million
- 1:15:00dollars. So let's see. That'd be 75 times five,
- 1:15:06which is only. Three hundred and seventy five
- 1:15:10dollars. Oh, come on. That's only like one fourth
- 1:15:13your share of the USS C cucumber Come on. What
- 1:15:15are you complaining about? It's only a car payment
- 1:15:17and you're right. It is only one fourth of my
- 1:15:19share of a C cucumber So I guess I mean when
- 1:15:22you look at it from that angle Well, and also
- 1:15:25let's not forget that this is assessed value
- 1:15:27in your house So it doesn't you know, this is
- 1:15:29it's it's so saith the assessor and what they
- 1:15:32say is well Did I so I sold I sold it at that
- 1:15:34price and I'm like, no no, it's just what we
- 1:15:36tell you it's worth It doesn't matter if you
- 1:15:38buy for $90 ,000 150 but back when the time Wayne
- 1:15:41Gretzky retired what we're telling you it's worth
- 1:15:44is what you owe now pay up and hold still for
- 1:15:46the services Or lose your home Or we'll take
- 1:15:50your home by force. Because we all know the most
- 1:15:54neighborly thing you can do is force your neighbor
- 1:15:58to pay for the thing you want under threat of
- 1:16:00taking their home very, very neighborly of you.
- 1:16:03Yes, that is the government. It's what makes
- 1:16:05Idaho, Idaho. This is what I keep hearing. It's
- 1:16:07all about the government. Hold still while the
- 1:16:09government shows you what Idaho means. Which
- 1:16:10is the same cost as the existing levy that expires
- 1:16:13this summer. Meaning if approved, taxpayers will
- 1:16:16see. We're already stealing from you. Don't worry.
- 1:16:19We're not stealing any more than we did last
- 1:16:21year. Just the same amount. Don't worry about
- 1:16:23it. Meaning, if approved, taxpayers will see
- 1:16:25no change at all. It's been a contradiction in
- 1:16:27this district not to increase the amount of money
- 1:16:30and the and the ask for how much money we have.
- 1:16:33We have respect for the taxpayers and we don't
- 1:16:35want to. Well, they know in Shoshone County that
- 1:16:38there's a low appetite for for this kind of bullshit.
- 1:16:42They're they're in a county where most people
- 1:16:44are like, no, get bent. But the communities in
- 1:16:47a community, community, communities in the town,
- 1:16:50like Kellogg, Kellogg on its own will, will win
- 1:16:54the day. And Kellogg is where most of the teachers
- 1:16:57live and it's where the biggest part of the school
- 1:16:59district is. And so in the same way that, you
- 1:17:02know, Sandpoint moves the needle in Bonner County.
- 1:17:05And then the same way that Bonners Ferry moves
- 1:17:06the needle in Boundary County in the same way
- 1:17:08that Coeur d 'Alene moves the needle in Kootenay
- 1:17:10County, Kellogg moves the needle in Shoshone
- 1:17:12County. So. it'll pass and it'll pass mainly
- 1:17:15because of Kellogg, but they still have to ask
- 1:17:18for less than they would like to because they
- 1:17:20know that Shoshone County as a whole is really
- 1:17:23not a fan of this sort of thing. Ask for more.
- 1:17:27We try to keep it at the bare minimum to provide
- 1:17:30these sort of things that are in the levy. The
- 1:17:32levy needs a simple majority to pass reporting
- 1:17:34in Shoshone. I'm your neighborhood reporter,
- 1:17:36Joey Martin, Idaho News 6. Now neighborhood reporter,
- 1:17:39I'm just your neighborhood reporter now note
- 1:17:42what happened in this presentation from the mainstream
- 1:17:45media They had a lady on in the beginning who's
- 1:17:49she's just a voter who's voted. Yes on this sort
- 1:17:51of stuff Lots of times and they thought as a
- 1:17:53voter Scott. She's a neighbor She's a neighbor
- 1:17:55a neighbor voter community neighbor who voted
- 1:17:58yes on this many times before and she would speak
- 1:18:00a see she likes kids Okay, she's a fan of the
- 1:18:03key of children and and so therefore she votes
- 1:18:06yes on the money thing because what about The
- 1:18:08children. You got to throw around. Like you got
- 1:18:15to be careful how much you throw around liking
- 1:18:16children. The key though, just I'm channeling
- 1:18:19my Dimitri Martin. He had a great sketch. He
- 1:18:22was like, it's really important to make the distinction.
- 1:18:24It's like, you got to be, got to be general about
- 1:18:26it. Not specific. Cause you, if you walk in and
- 1:18:28you're like, yeah, no, I, I really love 12 year
- 1:18:30olds. I love 12 year olds. We'd be like, no,
- 1:18:32no bro. No, you got to be less specific. You
- 1:18:35just say, I love kids. Oh, right. Okay. I love
- 1:18:38kids very neighborly. I'm very neighborly with
- 1:18:41the children. Yeah. And so it had, it had that
- 1:18:44lady at the beginning. It had the state superintendent
- 1:18:46of schools talking about how we're not, we're
- 1:18:48not increasing. No, we're just, nothing's increasing.
- 1:18:50Uh, everything's fine. Just, just, you know,
- 1:18:52nothing. Nevermind the fact that if we, if we
- 1:18:54didn't pass it, then our taxes would decrease.
- 1:18:57Like, so it is no, no, but it's not increasing
- 1:19:01increase. Well, it's an increase from what it
- 1:19:03would be if we weren't getting raped and pillaged.
- 1:19:06What? No, no, no, no. You don't understand, man.
- 1:19:08Nothing's increasing at all. Channeling your
- 1:19:11inner Dan Gooke in there. What? What? What? Do
- 1:19:16not interrupt me. The mainstream media. Sorry.
- 1:19:20Sorry, everybody. I get a little passionate about
- 1:19:23being taxed. Get a little, you know, I get a
- 1:19:26little worked up about having things stolen from
- 1:19:28me without my consent. If you'll forgive me.
- 1:19:31The mainstream media This is not a news report.
- 1:19:35This is promotion on behalf of public schools
- 1:19:39and levies. Promotion. There is no alternative
- 1:19:42voice. There's no neutral presentation. There's
- 1:19:45no, well, here's what somebody who opposes this
- 1:19:47might say. Here's what a community neighbor who
- 1:19:51is not for this thinks. There's none of that.
- 1:19:54It's completely one -sided. This is promotion.
- 1:19:58Yeah, it basically amounts to a native ad. It's
- 1:20:00a native ad. It's not really, but it basically
- 1:20:02is. Yeah, that's what I'm saying. For all intents
- 1:20:07and purposes, that's what it is. It's a native
- 1:20:09ad. Yes, it is. And you know, the other thing
- 1:20:10about these levies, do you know where the votes
- 1:20:14take place for these levies, the voting places?
- 1:20:17I'm going to guess Denver, California or Connecticut.
- 1:20:21Oh, Ponderay Lake, actually. Ponderay. The school
- 1:20:26buildings. Almost always every once in a while
- 1:20:31depending on your district and your community
- 1:20:32and your community It might be a firehouse The
- 1:20:36one of the firefighter stations or whatnot, but
- 1:20:39almost always these votes take place inside the
- 1:20:42school buildings That's why they always win because
- 1:20:47the teachers and the administrators who leech
- 1:20:50off of this system whose livelihoods depend on
- 1:20:52it So, of course they have a bias and they have
- 1:20:54an agenda and it more money always for them more
- 1:20:57money They can walk down the hall and cast a
- 1:21:01vote. And there's several hundreds of them. And
- 1:21:03in Shoshone County, several hundreds moves the
- 1:21:05needle. Meanwhile, regular people, the ones footing
- 1:21:09the bill, work. They have jobs. They have to
- 1:21:14vote somehow, either at the very beginning of
- 1:21:16their day on their way to work, in the middle
- 1:21:18of their day at lunch, or at the end of the day
- 1:21:20on their way home from work, assuming they have
- 1:21:22a normal schedule. And a lot of people don't
- 1:21:24have a normal schedule, so they can't fit that
- 1:21:26in. That's also why mainly it's retired people
- 1:21:29who carry the vote. Older people vote en masse
- 1:21:31versus anybody below the age of 50, but a ton
- 1:21:34of that is because older people have the time,
- 1:21:35they're retired, they have flexible schedules,
- 1:21:37they can vote. Meanwhile, those of us who actually
- 1:21:42pay the most in proportion to what we generate
- 1:21:44and need the money, our own money the most, and
- 1:21:47have the least amount of time in our working
- 1:21:48and raising families, we have to go out of our
- 1:21:52way to cast a ballot. But not those who work
- 1:21:55in education. They get to walk down the hall.
- 1:21:58It is practically a part of their just workday.
- 1:22:02That's why they carry these votes so easily.
- 1:22:04It's so easy for them to win. And then, of course,
- 1:22:08the media pushes these native ads for them too.
- 1:22:12And bada bing bada boom. You could be paying
- 1:22:14$400 a month or a year less in property taxes.
- 1:22:17It's not like we could use that money or anything.
- 1:22:19That's a car payment, by the way. That's a whole
- 1:22:21car payment. No big deal. Just be grateful that
- 1:22:25it's not going up. Here, speaking of eduimacators,
- 1:22:29here's more from that delightful organization.
- 1:22:32The new back and forth between the governor and
- 1:22:35the state's largest teachers union. The Idaho
- 1:22:37Education Association issued a vote of no confidence
- 1:22:39in Governor Brad Little yesterday. It came after
- 1:22:42he signed into law a bill preventing teachers
- 1:22:44unions from using any taxpayer resources to conduct
- 1:22:47union activities. The governor shrugged off the
- 1:22:50criticism. We'll get to that in a moment. First,
- 1:22:53Julie Luketa spoke with the union. Now, before
- 1:22:55we continue on with this, here's what's new.
- 1:22:58This is the same set of, you know, talking heads
- 1:23:01are on these reports frequently. And listen again.
- 1:23:05So that's how she says her name. You'll hear
- 1:23:08it at the end. And here's how the the initial
- 1:23:11guy says it. Is how she says her name. And it's
- 1:23:19not as if the host doesn't know this is the same
- 1:23:22people that are always doing these things. Why
- 1:23:25in the world are you, it'd be like if I was like
- 1:23:27Paul Bandukiki, and you were, and then at the
- 1:23:30end of the show, you were like, I'm Paul Banducci.
- 1:23:31But then just every single week I was like, Paul
- 1:23:33Bandukuki, like, are you listening to how I pronounce
- 1:23:36my name in? Why can't you say? Julie Yukita?
- 1:23:39Julie Yukita? Instead you're like, Julie Luketa.
- 1:23:42Julie Luketa. What the hell's wrong with these
- 1:23:44people? What the hell is wrong with you people?
- 1:23:48It's a genuine question. I don't understand it.
- 1:23:50Yeah, but it's not important enough. You're not
- 1:23:51important enough for me to care. What other conclusion
- 1:23:56is there to draw? Frankly, any immigrant that
- 1:24:01comes across our border, if they don't change
- 1:24:03their name to Williams or Smith or White, then
- 1:24:07I'm not going to pronounce their name. Don't
- 1:24:11tell me what to do. We'll get to that in a moment.
- 1:24:14First, Julie Luketa spoke with the union. IEA
- 1:24:18spokesperson Mike Journey says members are frustrated
- 1:24:21and disappointed. I think there's a lot of soul
- 1:24:23searching going on among our members about whether
- 1:24:26or not Governor Little truly is a pro -public
- 1:24:29education advocate. Unless you acquiesce to the
- 1:24:35every demand of the public union, then you don't
- 1:24:39support learning. A pro -public education advocate.
- 1:24:42But don't you know it's all about the kids, right?
- 1:24:44It's all about the kids. Give us your money.
- 1:24:48Right. Just like the city council meeting in
- 1:24:51Coeur d 'Alene is all about the citizens. It's
- 1:24:52totally not about the little leaders at the top
- 1:24:54squabbling amongst each other. No, no, no. It's
- 1:24:56about the citizens. And this is about the kids.
- 1:24:59Under HB 516, union members cannot pay dues through
- 1:25:03the district's payroll system, nor use district
- 1:25:06facilities for meetings. This law is an attack
- 1:25:09on their rights to organize and advocate for
- 1:25:14their colleagues. It levels the playing field.
- 1:25:16It means you don't get to use taxpayer funded
- 1:25:18facilities and taxpayer funded systems to prop
- 1:25:21up your association, which is also taxpayer funded.
- 1:25:25This law is an attack on their rights to organize
- 1:25:29and advocate for their colleagues in the workplace.
- 1:25:33It also limits their ability to collaborate with
- 1:25:36school districts and have discussions with administrators
- 1:25:39at their workplace. In some cases, it prevents
- 1:25:43members from using pay time off to advocate at
- 1:25:47the legislature. It's going to make the work
- 1:25:49of the union more difficult and that's its intent.
- 1:25:52Governor Little expressed concerns over the broad
- 1:25:55language of the bill before signing it earlier
- 1:25:57this month. Julie, you get that? Boise State
- 1:26:00Public Radio news. IEA in the past has endorsed
- 1:26:04Brad Little in his campaigns for governor, but
- 1:26:06that seems an impossibility now as Little seeks
- 1:26:09a third term. Meeting reporters in Coeur d 'Alene
- 1:26:11yesterday, the governor gave a verbal shrug to
- 1:26:14IEA's criticism. I'll make my case to the teachers
- 1:26:17any day about what I've done for teacher pay,
- 1:26:21starting teacher pay, veteran teacher pay, career
- 1:26:23ladder, insurance. All the things we've done
- 1:26:26for education. All the things he just rattled
- 1:26:36off is palming the teachers. It's greasing the
- 1:26:40palm of the teachers and the administrators.
- 1:26:42It has nothing to do with the children. Or education,
- 1:26:46as in learning things. What about this pay and
- 1:26:50what about that benefit? What about this pay
- 1:26:51and that pay and this pay and that pay for education?
- 1:26:54Well, how are we supposed to recruit good teachers,
- 1:26:57man, if we don't pay well? Okay, I just, it's
- 1:27:01a conflation of the two things. I mean, you'll
- 1:27:03forgive us for being a little cynical when we
- 1:27:05hear these sorts of words coming out of your
- 1:27:07guys' mouth. I mean, it's ridiculous. Like, I
- 1:27:09don't know, people homeschool their kids for,
- 1:27:12they don't get paid for it, but they're very
- 1:27:14concerned with education. So maybe there isn't
- 1:27:17necessarily a correlation between money and education.
- 1:27:21The thing that the system cares most about it
- 1:27:25can be summed up in one word money money always
- 1:27:29so what are you guys saying man you're saying
- 1:27:31teachers should work for free yeah okay buddy
- 1:27:34that's what we're saying let's finish this all
- 1:27:38the things we've done for education that audio
- 1:27:40shared with us by spokane public radio idaho's
- 1:27:43primary election is about a month away okay it
- 1:27:46was almost over all right well anyway just uh
- 1:27:48just remember how much it is worth noting that
- 1:27:50They do use the terms interchangeably, teachers
- 1:27:53and education, as if they are the same thing.
- 1:27:55They're not the same thing. One is supposed to
- 1:27:57beget the other, but we're so far from that now.
- 1:28:00They're miles and miles and miles apart. In fact,
- 1:28:02I would argue that the former gets in the way
- 1:28:04of the latter. Well, it's a little little contrived
- 1:28:10now because this was the ask Paul that I had
- 1:28:12prepared We did a fun on the fly one before but
- 1:28:15I have it. So let's just do it Here comes the
- 1:28:18question redemption round small make your guess
- 1:28:20before we call the game begins. It's asked Brought
- 1:28:24to you by Pfizer now, this isn't necessary It
- 1:28:27isn't actually really it's on an Idaho story,
- 1:28:29even though it was carried on an Idaho affiliate
- 1:28:31And so I don't know why it was there, but it
- 1:28:33was and it's freaking hilarious. I will be floored,
- 1:28:37if you can guess this. Swedish researchers say
- 1:28:40contamination is having an effect on salmon.
- 1:28:43A two year study found salmon given tiny implants
- 1:28:47of swim faster than non implanted salmon. What
- 1:28:53are they referring to? What can you give salmon
- 1:28:56that make it swim faster? You want to hear it
- 1:28:59again? OK, just so I understand, they actually
- 1:29:01have done a conducted a study where they purposely
- 1:29:04put blank in salmon. That is correct. And I didn't
- 1:29:08look, I should have looked up what government
- 1:29:10agency was funding that important research for
- 1:29:12$55 million. It said Swedish. It said Swedish
- 1:29:15researchers. Swedish researchers say contamination
- 1:29:19is having an effect on salmon. Yes. And it's,
- 1:29:22yes, you're right. It is Sweden. Something contamination.
- 1:29:25Okay. So it's something getting in the water,
- 1:29:28but they're now doing research on it to see the
- 1:29:32effects on salmon. A two year study found salmon
- 1:29:35given tiny implants of swim faster than non implanted
- 1:29:41salmon. I mean, this could be anything that could
- 1:29:46leach into the water. So make some swim faster,
- 1:29:50faster. So they're, there's no way motivated.
- 1:29:54Okay. It's gotta be something to do with like
- 1:29:58testosterone. It's testosterone. Stuff or your
- 1:30:01ED pill chemicals or something like that because
- 1:30:04I'm thinking you know salmon are motivated They
- 1:30:06do their thing swim faster. We're gonna go with
- 1:30:09ED stuff like Viagra type stuff getting into
- 1:30:13the water somehow Swedish researchers say cocaine
- 1:30:17contamination is having an effect on salmon.
- 1:30:20Hey, actually, I'm not half wrong. Given tiny
- 1:30:22implants of cocaine. Swim faster than non -cocaine
- 1:30:27implanted salmon. It took a study for them to
- 1:30:31figure that out. And you're right, you were halfway
- 1:30:35there. I mean, in a way, in a roundabout way,
- 1:30:39I was kind of there. So here's the real question,
- 1:30:43though, more importantly. We know that they've
- 1:30:45made a movie called cocaine shark They also made
- 1:30:48a movie that I think had two parts called cocaine
- 1:30:50bear area to expect cocaine salmon next like
- 1:30:55in the wilds of Alaska You thought being on land
- 1:30:59made you safe You thought wrong? It's like oh
- 1:31:03my god. It's cocaine bear run get the water and
- 1:31:06then oh my god. No, it's cocaine salmon I would
- 1:31:09seek I would get in line to see cocaine salmon.
- 1:31:12I would and if you'll excuse the phrase line
- 1:31:19We'd have to do a watch party for all of the
- 1:31:21cocaine animals at that point. We just have to
- 1:31:24shut ourselves in for 12 hours and just watch
- 1:31:26them all. And that watch party would definitely
- 1:31:28go on until five o 'clock in the morning because
- 1:31:30that's the kind of party it would be, you know.
- 1:31:33Well, we would definitely be bumping. By the
- 1:31:42way, I owe you an apology. No Scots shots today.
- 1:31:45I apologize to you and more importantly to our
- 1:31:48executive producers. I'm going to make up for
- 1:31:50it with two. Scott's shots next week. I promise.
- 1:31:54Pinky swear. Oh, I screwed it up. I hit the button.
- 1:31:59Damn it. You son of a bitch. Now we have to offload
- 1:32:02a second. That's fine. That's fine. We can keep
- 1:32:04talking. Okay. It's an extra two minutes. Sorry.
- 1:32:08Now I only owe Scott one Scott's shots. Just
- 1:32:12lost his bonus one. Your finger want to slip
- 1:32:14again, man? You'll be down to zero. I'm telling
- 1:32:17you what. Say what again? Say what again? I dare
- 1:32:20you. I'm so very deeply sorry. Well, I'm looking,
- 1:32:25yeah, I'm looking for it. I always loved those
- 1:32:26Scott shot segments, even though I really need
- 1:32:28to get back on track, man. Going like over my
- 1:32:31last three. I don't even know what to do with
- 1:32:33myself. Yeah. Well, I've been low. I've been
- 1:32:35softballing them in there pretty good for a while.
- 1:32:38And I decided it was time to up the ante a little
- 1:32:40bit. You know, as soon as you got comfortable,
- 1:32:41I had to shake it up. Yeah. That's fair. Firm,
- 1:32:45but fair. Dude, cocaine salmon. I love that.
- 1:32:50And then they're like, Hey, well, how much money
- 1:32:52did that cost the taxpayer? Like how many grams
- 1:32:55per? Yeah. How many grams did the taxpayer pick
- 1:33:00up? Yeah. And they're like, and then it turns
- 1:33:02out after our exhaustive two year study that
- 1:33:05cost us $50 million, it turns out that when salmon
- 1:33:09rail lines, they are slightly sped up. They are
- 1:33:13more productive. Who knew? Ask anybody in Miami.
- 1:33:16They could tell you that you could have saved
- 1:33:17so much time and money. Just go down to Miami
- 1:33:19and be like, Hey, are you more productive during
- 1:33:21such and such time of the day? All of the salmon.
- 1:33:24Why do you ask? They were also overheard telling
- 1:33:26all the other salmon how much they love them.
- 1:33:32So in other news, salmon population is set to
- 1:33:35explode next season. Well, we're gonna explode
- 1:33:38on the next episode of no ID. This was number
- 1:33:4126 and we'll see you for that explosion on episode
- 1:33:44number 27 and until then from Post Falls I'm
- 1:33:47Scott and I'm Paul taxation is theft what
