Transcript
- 0:40None. One more time.
- 0:53What's up, everybody? It's your boy Kefi here with
- 0:56another ghost cultman.com Weekly ritual.
- 1:00Oh no, it's not the weekly ritual.
- 1:02I don't know what the fuck I'm talking about.
- 1:03I'm fucking delirious. It's not the weekly ritual.
- 1:05It's a plain old live stream. And I'll tell you why, because
- 1:07we had some big news today. Owing Guns is here.
- 1:10I don't know who's going to show up.
- 1:11I'm going on a little bit late. I'm obviously a little bit
- 1:13delirious, but already unhinged. OK, cool.
- 1:19But yeah, we are doing the thing and I'll tell you why.
- 1:22Tomorrow is actually the weekly ritual.
- 1:25And a little bit of a service note.
- 1:27We are going to be going on a little bit later than usual.
- 1:32A little bit earlier than usual tomorrow.
- 1:34I should get my shit straight before I start, huh?
- 1:36Professional as always. That's your boy Kefi.
- 1:39But Eddie Allman is here. What up?
- 1:40What up? So we're going to do a live
- 1:43stream on the just announced 9 Inch Nails festival.
- 1:47I kind of feel like this should have been bigger news today, but
- 1:50I think the nature of the announcement caught people off
- 1:53guard, Certainly caught me off guard.
- 1:54We kind of got an inkling that they were teasing something and
- 2:01then it dropped. So we're going to jump right
- 2:03into it and talk about it. If you want to talk about it or
- 2:06anything, let me know. First things first, I got a
- 2:12little deck to pull up here with some cool things that I put
- 2:16together. Matt Ledoux is here.
- 2:19Hello, Matt. Yo, there it is.
- 2:23Where's this guy? Come on.
- 2:26Boom. There it is.

- 2:32hinge, off the hinges already, but we'll do our best.
- 2:35We'll do our best. I'm excited about this festival.
- 2:37I'm thinking about going to this festival.
- 2:39I would like to cover this festival.
- 2:41I don't know 100% if they're going to have press at this
- 2:46thing. Trent is notoriously not pro
- 2:52press, but we have also been lucky enough to cover 9 inch
- 2:57nails a few times, so I feel extremely fortunate.

- 6:03Pretty bad ass lineup if you ask me.
- 6:06But we're we're here to talk about 9 Inch Nails.
- 6:08And here's a great photo as shot by my partner and the co-owner
- 6:12of Ghost Cult mag Omar cordyghostcultmag.com.
- 6:17We are your not sucky blabbermouth and we're we're not
- 6:22sucky metal sucks. That's what we do as we do here.
- 6:27If you like 9 Inch Nails, we're going to talk all about it right
- 6:29now. Why on earth did 9 Inch Nails,
- 6:323536 years into a career, start a festival?
- 6:37Well, we're going to tell you why.
- 6:37They've actually been planning this for quite a while.
- 6:39Why? And we're going to talk about it
- 6:41right now. So first and foremost, I thought
- 6:45this was cool. I'm going to start putting these
- 6:46together sometimes for these whenever relevant and timely. 9
- 6:51Inch Nails by the numbers. So formed in 1988.
- 6:55They have 11 studio albums, not including the expected new
- 6:59studio album that is done and we're expecting to hear about
- 7:03soon, at least in the next, you know, 6 to 8 months.
- 7:06They're either going to have a album for late 2025 or early 26.
- 7:10That's what we've been led to believe.
- 7:13An actual 9 Inch Nails album. Not just all these soundtracks.
- 7:16One live album, 3 remix albums, 6 EPS.
- 7:21Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 20/22/19.
- 7:27Soundtrack scores and that number will grow by at least
- 7:30three this year. They have a video game
- 7:32soundtrack score, the much anticipated Tron Eras
- 7:36soundtrack, and at least one more that they've intimated
- 7:39they're putting out. They have won two Oscars, 3
- 7:41Golden Globes, and one Emmy. Why did I mention these things?
- 7:44Because it kind of occurred to me that 9 inch LS1 of the most
- 7:47celebrated and respected and honored bands ever.
- 7:50I know, and I think 1 Grammy. But Trent hates the Grammys.
- 7:54He actually won a Grammy for the musical soundtrack to Girl with
- 7:59the Dragon Tattoo, but he doesn't like them.
- 8:03So he scoffed at that award, wasn't too fond of winning it.
- 8:07We're even getting nominated because they've snubbed him
- 8:10before. But you know, they're a very
- 8:14celebrated man. They're one of our leaders.
- 8:17So why are they doing the music festival?
- 8:20Well, I'll tell you why. Here's another awesome picture
- 8:22from our own, a photo from her own Meg Loyal from Meg Loyal
- 8:28Photography. She shot this at Aftershock many
- 8:31years back. We've covered 9 Inch Nails by
- 8:35themselves. We covered them at Aftershock
- 8:37and we've covered them at Riot Fest that we always cover.
- 8:40We're going back to Riot Fest this year, hopefully, and we'll
- 8:43be covering them again sometime. So Niner Channels intimated in
- 8:49some interviews in 2024 that they were looking into doing a
- 8:52festival and it wouldn't be a typical music festival.
- 8:56Now, when you think of metal festivals or rock festivals or
- 8:59things, they're usually not led by bands.
- 9:01They're usually a big consortium of headliners.
- 9:05They're usually curated by whoever the founders of the
- 9:07fests are. Danny Wimmer Presents does
- 9:10aftershocks later than life. They just did Sonic Temple.
- 9:13Welcome to Rockville is this coming weekend.
- 9:15We have Milwaukee Metal Fest now headed up by Jamie Josta.
- 9:20That was like a huge thing back in the day.
- 9:22And now it's back the last few years.
- 9:24It'll be back again next year. And usually these festivals are
- 9:27planned like a year or two in advance also because you have to
- 9:30book the bands and and certain talent has to come in from
- 9:32around the world. And you know, you have to
- 9:35understand everybody's release schedules and touring ticks
- 9:37schedules and kind of what's going on with them, especially
- 9:40considering how expensive and difficult touring is now.
- 9:43And you know, all the things about visas and tariffs and, and
- 9:47the increase in the prices just to get a work visa to come into
- 9:50this country as a working musician.
- 9:53So they've been planning this probably for over a year, more
- 9:55than over a year that they plan to do this, this specific
- 9:58festival with this specific line up more or less around this
- 10:02specific thing. Drew says he hasn't seen a show
- 10:05since 2010. And you missed going to shows,
- 10:07Drew, I'm sorry to hear that. So many bands you love to see.
- 10:10What's keeping you from going to shows?
- 10:12Drew, let us know. We'll talk, we'll chop it up.
- 10:13And I will tell you I am going to less shows this year.
- 10:17Last year I was going about 2-3 shows a week.
- 10:20When I lived in Brooklyn before I moved to California, I was
- 10:23going to seriously 5 to 6 shows a week.
- 10:26Every night of the week I was out at a show and my health has
- 10:30taken kind of a turn. I'm OK, generally speaking.
- 10:33I'm I'm working my way back from a multitude of problems and I'm
- 10:36just going to less shows. Oh, I understand totally.
- 10:39I so understand that. And, you know, thank you.
- 10:42First of all, thank you for your service, Drew.
- 10:44I really mean that. A lot of people talk about their
- 10:47freedoms, but they're not willing to lay it on the line.
- 10:50And I really respect and appreciate that.
- 10:52Thank you so much. And and I love that your name is
- 10:54Drew Odinson. I love that immensely.
- 10:57So, you know, I get it. There are ABA seatings where you
- 11:04can avoid the crowd and and some places do have like, and some
- 11:09festivals do have like very discounted things for veterans,
- 11:13including like AADA and veterans entrances where you can skirt
- 11:17some of the crowds. But I understand that if it's a
- 11:19personal problem for you, you know, that would kind of ruin it
- 11:23for you. And obviously, we want you to be
- 11:24safe and healthy and happy, especially after, you know, your
- 11:27service. Thank you, Sir.
- 11:30So anyway, why didn't 9 channels do this?
- 11:32Because like, when you think about festivals, you have Oz
- 11:34Fest, which was hugely successful at one point and then
- 11:36kind of fizzled out. I know that Sharon is looking to
- 11:39resuscitate the brand. I doubt Ozzy could be part of
- 11:42it. At this point.
- 11:43I'm very concerned about Ozzy even making it to perform well
- 11:47at this Farewell Black Sabbath and Ozzy show coming up for
- 11:50charity in July. Obviously, we are well aware of
- 11:54Notfest. Slipknot's Notfest is all over
- 11:57the world. It's international.
- 11:58They've managed to make it into a thing.
- 12:01As you know, Perry Ferrell of Jane's Addiction and Porno for
- 12:04Pyros launched Lollapalooza, then he left the brand.
- 12:08He came back to the brand that is now a global brand, but it's
- 12:11a team of people that organize and book that festival.
- 12:15But Notfest is probably the most successful festival ever,
- 12:18statistically speaking. And you know, the Metallica had
- 12:22two Orion fests and they lost money on both of those.
- 12:25There's a definite chance that they will bring that brand back
- 12:30someday. But these things don't always
- 12:33work out. And sometimes, like a small
- 12:35thing, like, you know, every time I die, I always had their
- 12:39Christmas shows. And now Better Lovers is trying
- 12:43to do that with their new thing. August Burns Red does a
- 12:45Christmas mini festival every year near their hometown.
- 12:51I know A Day To Remember has tried to do a festival type of
- 12:53thing. We know that Dance Gavin Dance
- 12:56has Swan Fest, but I think that's a very niche kind of
- 12:58thing. As popular as they are, what is
- 13:00the best show I have seen? Boy, that's really tough.
- 13:06I mean, I went to I went, I'm 52 years old despite this babyface
- 13:11under here and under this beard, and I've gone to a lot of shows.
- 13:15I've also performed a lot of shows 'cause I used to play in
- 13:17bands and I am once again playing in a band that hopes to
- 13:20perform live soon. I might say Tool on the Enema
- 13:26tour was incredible. Just a mind blowing experience.
- 13:31Couple of times I've seen Metallica more than any other
- 13:34band and they have been stellar. Most of the time when I've seen
- 13:37them. I saw Metallica like my second
- 13:40or third show back after the pandemic.
- 13:43I saw Metallica's secret show. They did a series of secret
- 13:45shows, Nashville, Chicago I think, and San Francisco.
- 13:50And I live in San Francisco. And I was, I saw Metallica with
- 13:52like 500 people and it was mind blowing.
- 13:56Not just because it was like our first thing back from anything
- 13:59and it was their first thing back after like 2 1/2 years or
- 14:02more, not playing, maybe more than that, but because James had
- 14:06gone to rehab and it was the end of the cycle before all those
- 14:09things. So I don't know.
- 14:12That was up there. Alice In Chains has to be high
- 14:15up there. I saw Pink Floyd twice,
- 14:22Deftones, Corn, Black Sabbath, Devin Townsend, Meshuga.
- 14:30There's so many. Oh, 2004.
- 14:33That's Michael from the tablet. That was a huge tour.
- 14:35I remember that. There's a lot of them.
- 14:37There's a lot of them. Wardruna enslaved doing the
- 14:41anniversary set once a while back.
- 14:45So I have, I've been very lucky to see quite a few shows.
- 14:48Federico has passed by as well as Red Goo.
- 14:52Red Goo. So anyway, why is 9 Inch Nails
- 14:56doing this festival? So they wanted to get into
- 14:59festivals. You know, that sort of as a
- 15:01sideline to 9 Inch Nails, maybe even more than 9 Inch Nails.
- 15:04Trent and Atticus Ross, who is the only other permanent member
- 15:07beside Trent since 2016. They do a ton of soundtrack
- 15:11stuff. I talked about their awards at
- 15:13the top of the show and your mom said Kiss.
- 15:17I saw Kiss on the reunion toward the first reunion tour in 1996
- 15:20and that was amazing. I had like not purposefully seen
- 15:24them until they brought back Ace and Peter.
- 15:28I only saw 10 minutes of them about 3 years ago and I was glad
- 15:32it was only 10 minutes 'cause I thought they were starting to
- 15:34slip really bad, especially Paul's voice 'cause it was shot
- 15:36and but I was Kiss was my first favorite band.
- 15:41I, I saw Pink Floyd like I mentioned, so I think 9 Inch
- 15:44Nails just wanted to get into kind of this idea of a, a unique
- 15:48festival. Not just Trent puts on all his
- 15:50bands, his bands. We got a thing last year that we
- 15:53covered called the Max Cavalera Dynasty show.
- 15:56I'm sincerely hoping that Max does it again where he put kind
- 15:59of all his kids and all his kids bands and himself out in a all
- 16:06day festival with some local openers and some indigenous
- 16:09bands and all these things that are important to Max music art
- 16:12family, right? For the Max Cavallera Dynasty
- 16:15show. And I think everybody played
- 16:17except Cavallera, which he's now on tour with, which he knew he
- 16:20was doing and all the bands played.
- 16:24We got to cover. It was very lucky that we got to
- 16:26go cover it. We do have a team in Arizona and
- 16:29our regular team in Arizona couldn't cover it.
- 16:31So we had a backup team cover it.
- 16:33So it was very thankful for Chris Elliott for the review and
- 16:37Annie Atlasman for the photos and some video from Chris as
- 16:41well. And so that's really cool.
- 16:43That worked out. I hope he brings it back and
- 16:45does it again. And it brought Nail Bomb back
- 16:47and Nail Bomb is doing stuff all summer, which is cool.
- 16:50So I think Trenton, Trenton and Atticus wanted to kind of do
- 16:54this thing where they, they wanted to have a, you know, an
- 17:02immersive thing, not just music, but composer's, orchestra,
- 17:06electronica, maybe even some kind of dance music and visuals
- 17:11like installations, like a gallery or an exhibition, but
- 17:14like almost like a larger than life thing outdoors.
- 17:19So this thing has been taking shape for over a couple of years
- 17:22and I'm really interested to see what this is going to be.
- 17:26So the details 'cause you were asking future, the Future Ruins,
- 17:31which is a phrase we've heard before in literature and music.
- 17:37Let's see, I had it here a second to go.
- 17:48There's also an an album by Swerve Driver, which is pretty
- 17:51funny. So the Future Ruins are music
- 17:53and arts festival and I'm going to run through the whole lineup
- 17:57and and the choices here. The future ruins festival.
- 18:02Future Ruins is a first of its kind music festival, a day long
- 18:07event where the world's most influential film and television
- 18:11composers step out from behind the screen and onto the stage.
- 18:14Here's a picture of Atticus by Meg Loyal and let's see if there
- 18:19are any anybody commenting. Not really.
- 18:21But if anybody jumps in the comments everywhere but Tiktok,
- 18:24I will. I will put pump up your comment
- 18:26here so you know this thing seems pretty fantastic.
- 18:35Set across 3 stages at the Los Angeles Equestrian Center,
- 18:40Future Ruins is designed to feel thoughtful and immersive,
- 18:43bringing together this music to light in an environment where
- 18:46it's never been heard before. Every artist is a headliner,
- 18:50each with their own specialty curated moment.
- 18:53Each artist is encouraged to take big swings and reimagine
- 18:56their work for live audience. Ranging from electronic sets and
- 19:00live bands to orchestral performances, fans have a chance
- 19:03to experience live debuts from composers who rarely appear on
- 19:08stage. This one time line up is not
- 19:11just a music festival, it's a cinematic ceremony, a deep dive
- 19:14into sound and story, and a first, a historic first for Los
- 19:19Angeles, especially Los Angeles and their history in the film
- 19:23and music industry. Of course, this vessel's going
- 19:25to come right on the heels of the Peel It Back World Tour by 9
- 19:29Inch Nails there. You know, Trent talked about a
- 19:31year ago about not wanting to tour much anymore.
- 19:34He has five children with his wife.
- 19:37That's why we haven't heard from How to Destroy Angels that been
- 19:40with the two of them for a while.
- 19:41They've been raising their kids. So this is a big swing in his
- 19:45own way that he's going to come out on tour, probably with a new
- 19:48record after and maybe tour a little bit next year too, I hope
- 19:52and play more of Europe. He's doing big, big shows,
- 19:54arenas and amphitheaters. In some cases just a just a just
- 19:58maybe like 4 handfuls, 5 handfuls of dates, 2530 dates
- 20:03across a few months. Sometimes two in a city, but not
- 20:06really. So the peel it back world tour
- 20:09is going to happen and this took this festival is going to happen
- 20:11and this is the future ruins festival.
- 20:12So I'm going to read you the lineup and I think this is
- 20:15pretty incredible. And again, so unlike Trent could
- 20:19have curated a bunch of industrial metal bands, he could
- 20:21have put a bunch of metal bands together, he could have put a
- 20:24bunch of alternative rock bands together.
- 20:26Obviously 9 channels crosses a lot of genres, but he
- 20:28specifically wanted to highlight composers, including some that
- 20:32have never performed live. Because a lot of these people
- 20:34just compose and write scores and then they don't even conduct
- 20:38the works that make it to the recording.
- 20:40They just do the composition. So here's the entire line up and
- 20:45we're going to go through it pretty well.
- 20:47I have heard of Hakeel Asip. I have heard of heavy Metal by
- 20:51Cameron Winter. I believe I have.
- 20:53That name is familiar to me. So here's the line up for the
- 20:56festival and not Lindsay is also here.
- 21:00Let's see if anybody's on the gram.
- 21:02Nope. All right, so here's the
- 21:06festival lineup for Fuchsia Ruins, Cristobal Tapia de Ver,
- 21:10the recent hit movie Baby Girl, the horror movie Smile, the TV
- 21:14show The White Lotus, Black Mirror, Utopia, Philip K Dick's
- 21:17Electric Dreams, Ponyboy, Third Day National Treasure, The Girl
- 21:22with All the Gifts and Humans, Ben Salisbury and Geoff Barrow,
- 21:27who you might know most of all from Black Mirror and Ex Machina
- 21:32the movie, but Civil War, which is an incredible movie, which I
- 21:36actually thought was a Nine Inch Nails soundtrack.
- 21:37Annihilation, the great kind of a sci-fi horror movie, Loose,
- 21:41free fire and Debs. Danny Elfman needs no
- 21:46introduction. He shouldn't need an
- 21:48introduction at all. But Danny Elfman, obviously The
- 21:52Sims, you know, like Oingo Boingo, Batman, PB Harmon,
- 21:55Edward Scissorhands. He's basically Tim Burton's
- 21:58Maine collaborator, Nightmare Before Christmas, Beetlejuice,
- 22:01Men in Black, Goodwill, Hunting Charlie and Chocolate Factory,
- 22:04Big Fish, Alice and Wonderland, Spider Man, Milk, and my
- 22:09personal favorite would be Wanted soundtrack for the
- 22:14Angelina Jolie and James James McAvoy movie that I'm a big fan
- 22:21of, and there's an incredible rock song on there.
- 22:23There's also some 9 Inch Nails on that soundtrack.
- 22:25Wouldn't you be surprised? Of course you are.
- 22:27Of course you aren't. I know that Danny.
- 22:30By the way, like I'm not forgetting the fact that Danny
- 22:32Elfman has had some kind of off the off the stage stuff dealing
- 22:37with SA. I'm not ignorant to that.
- 22:39You can look that up on Reddit if you want to.
- 22:42It's out there in the public domain.
- 22:44But he's still not cancelled apparently.
- 22:46Claudio Simonetti's Goblin just for Goblin and 9 inch downs.
- 22:49I would go to this thing. If you don't know who Claudia
- 22:52Simonetti is, Goblin, there's a couple of versions of the band
- 22:56Goblin we call Claudia Simonetti is the master of horror music
- 23:00soundtracks. If you love Ghost, the reason
- 23:02you love Ghost is not cuz Ghost sounds like scooby-doo or
- 23:05Bloister Call, it's cuz those sound like Claudio Simonetti's
- 23:08compositions for Goblin and the soundtracks to incredible giallo
- 23:13horror movies like Suspiria Profundo Rossi, also known as
- 23:17Deep Red Dawn of the Dead, the incredible classic Demons,
- 23:20Tenebrae Phenomena and opera. I love all these movies and I
- 23:24would go just to see Goblin. I'm going to probably say this
- 23:28horribly, but Hildur Gunther for known for Joker Chernobyl a
- 23:33haunting in Venice, Sicario de of the Saldado, Mary Magdalene
- 23:38the tar soundtrack 28 years later coming up soon the bone
- 23:41Temple women talking and head up a performance of Howard Shaw's
- 23:47Howard Shaw, the legendary Howard Shaw composer of many
- 23:52Academy award-winning 6 scores, but specifically David
- 23:55Cronenberg's crash. Isabelle Waller Bridge is doing
- 24:00the music. She's gonna She's known for
- 24:02composing Munich, Emma, Black Mirror, Wicked Little Letters,
- 24:08Fleabag, of course, with her partner, Phoebe Waller Bridge.
- 24:11The lesson, the boy, the mole, the fox and the horse, magpie
- 24:15and sweet pea. John Carpenter.
- 24:17Oh my God, the John Carpenter, the director of all the amazing,
- 24:21amazing horror movies, but specifically Halloween.
- 24:24They live The thing, Christine escaped from New York and many
- 24:27more. John Carpenter is doing a
- 24:29handful of Halloween shows himself across the country in
- 24:33specific places, New York and LA in particular.
- 24:36And this is right after his Halloween LA residency.
- 24:39Just me is here. Just me as a ghost call everyday
- 24:42or just me? We're talking about just me 22.
- 24:44We are talking about the 9 Inch Nails festival.
- 24:48Do you have interest in going to see 9 Inch Nails?
- 24:51I know they're playing Oakland and LA.
- 24:53Or do you have interest in going to this festival of composers
- 24:56headed up by Trent and Atticus of Nine Inch Nails?
- 25:00Also also if that wasn't enough, Goblin, John Carpenter, Howard
- 25:06Shore's music, Kyle Dixon and Michael Stein from Stranger
- 25:10Things, Lost in the Night, Native Son, Butterfly, The
- 25:13Retaliator soundtrack, The Valley of the Boom, and their
- 25:16own metal projects. Mark Mothersboro of Devo has
- 25:20done so many films, including Thor Ragnarok, The Life Aquatic
- 25:24Royal, Tenenbaum's Rushmore, Bottle Rocket.
- 25:27People seem to love that one, Rugrats, The Lego Movie,
- 25:30Minecraft Movie, Cocaine Bear, And I mentioned Thor Ragnarok.
- 25:34And of course Devo Questlove performing the the score of the
- 25:40works of Curtis Mayfield, which will no doubt be including
- 25:43Superfly. I mean, that's going to be
- 25:45unbelievable just by itself. Robert A Key, Aubrey Lowe,
- 25:52Candyman, Master Telemarketers, The Color of Care, Grasshopper,
- 25:56Republic, Power, Uvon Seeds and Life After Tamar Kali, the
- 26:03composer of Mudbound. Shirley the assistant, the fire
- 26:06inside the last thing he wanted come Sunday.
- 26:08Palmer, the Lie, Little Richard, I Am Everything.
- 26:11Terence Blanchard, the great composer for such films as black
- 26:15klansman, Malcolm X, Inside man, the Five Bloods, when the Levees
- 26:20broke One Night in Miami, The Woman King and Perry Mason, and
- 26:23of course, Trenton Atticus. Now, no real mention of Nine
- 26:27Inch Nails here, but just a mention of The Social Network,
- 26:31Watchmen, Gone Girl, Soul Girl with the Dragon Tattoo,
- 26:35Challengers, Empire of Light Waves, the Vietnam War, Mank and
- 26:39the Killer. We talked earlier about how many
- 26:41awards Trent and Atticus have won, and their first soundtrack
- 26:45has 9 Inch Nails is coming out soon.
- 26:48We'll talk about that. Just they've done a lot of
- 26:50soundtrack work, just Trent and Atticus under their names.
- 26:53And now they finally felt that there was a movie that was
- 26:56worthy of having the name 9 Inch Nails on it.
- 26:58And we're going to talk about that in one more second.
- 27:00And and they're not even the closer I I imagine this is the
- 27:03running order on different stages.
- 27:05Volcker, Berlitman AKA Hauschka, all quieter on the Western Front
- 27:11Conclave recently saw that amazing the lion, the amateur
- 27:15doom prophecy, which is coming up soon.
- 27:17Day of the Jackal, Hollywood gate adrift, War Sailor, the old
- 27:20guard, stowaway and Patrick Melrose.
- 27:23Now we don't know. We don't know what form this is
- 27:28going to take for 9 inch shells. Are they going to play a set as
- 27:309 inch shells? Are they going to just do their
- 27:32score work? Is it going to be like a
- 27:34greatest hits soundtrack from across their movies?
- 27:37Could they just pick one thing and perform that?
- 27:40I bought the Challengers soundtrack on vinyl.
- 27:43I loved it so much I had to have it.
- 27:47So what? What is this going to be?
- 27:49This is going to be magnificent. Here's just again that photo of
- 27:51Trent you've seen a few times in this live stream.
- 27:54If you've been hanging with us, just a reminder feel free to
- 27:58drop us a tip. We can always use the cash.
- 28:00All the money we make goes right back into the company.
- 28:03It does not go to me or my partners personally, but you
- 28:06know, once again, feel free. The the tips are in the tip
- 28:09menu. Ocean Lord, Australia's here.
- 28:11What's up Ocean Lord, yo, Tikakashi says let's let's kill
- 28:20off the ghost cultman.com banner and just bust in a comment here.
- 28:23Thank you for commenting. I appreciate you so much.
- 28:26I'm going to star this mofo. John Carpenter does rule.
- 28:29We're huge fans and we've reviewed some of his work here
- 28:32at ghost cult. But I mean, holy hell, man, like
- 28:35the stranger things guys, Claudio Simonetti's goblin.
- 28:39Hey, ocean Lord, what's up? I mean, this is a phenomenal
- 28:43lineup for this festival and it's and it truly is going to be
- 28:46unique and a one shot deal. Here's another theory I'd like
- 28:50to float. Last year was the 30th
- 28:53anniversary of the down here downward spiral.
- 28:56This year we just passed it like 10-11 days ago was the
- 29:01anniversary of With Teeth and Year 0, which was always meant
- 29:05to have like a visual accompaniment, like an entire
- 29:08album visualizer. There was talk of a series on
- 29:11HBO based on the Year 0 theme and I always felt like with
- 29:15Teeth and Year Zero also a very like similar visual.
- 29:18If you look at those covers on this slide here.
- 29:20I'm sorry, TikTok, you can't see it unless you come over to
- 29:23YouTube or somewhere else or Instagram.
- 29:25But what's up Drew Jones? But yeah, just maybe they do a
- 29:31full album playthrough. Maybe they do a 2 hour set and
- 29:34it's like one hour of just compositions and another album
- 29:37hour of Nine Inch Nails. 9 Inch Shells is going on tour and
- 29:40Speaking of that Peel Back tour that I talked about just a few
- 29:42minutes ago, we don't really know who's in the band except
- 29:46for Trenton Atticus. So he might have a whole new
- 29:48band. He might return to former
- 29:50bandmates to come out and play guitar and keyboards along with
- 29:54Trent and and drums and and other things.
- 29:56He's had some of the best musicians in the world have been
- 29:59in Nine Inch Nails. So it'll be very interesting to
- 30:03see who's out there. And just a reminder, this is
- 30:06also possible guests, right? There's no telling what guests
- 30:10might appear because when 9 Inch Shells got inducted to the Hall
- 30:14of Fame, they did that panel where they welcomed everybody
- 30:17that was, you know, inducted in together, including Richard
- 30:22Patrick of Filter. We've interviewed here at
- 30:24Costco. We'll drop the link in the thing
- 30:26here. Acucci Wolf is here.
- 30:28What's up? Acucci Wolf, you know, he
- 30:31invited guests to perform a special one off performance in
- 30:34Cleveland with ministry and Nitsareb and and you know, he's
- 30:37got been cohorts and colleagues with many, many people across
- 30:41industrial metal and rock would be something if he brought in a
- 30:46a what if he brought in an array of collaborators?
- 30:49Peter Murphy I've seen with 9 Inch Nails, you know, would be
- 30:53pretty incredible if he came in and brought in maybe like a
- 30:57rotating cast of singers to sing instead of him or with him.
- 31:01How amazing would that be? You know, is this going to be
- 31:05like a greatest hits ever of Nine Inch Nails?
- 31:07This would be 1 hell of a a live album or experience or something
- 31:12pay-per-view or stream on Veeps or something.
- 31:15I mean, this would be insane. So anything is possible.
- 31:17We know that it's going to be grandiose.
- 31:19We know sometimes they're going to be, there's going to be an
- 31:21orchestra. There's going to be 3 stages
- 31:25it's going to be in. I am not familiar with the
- 31:26equestrian fields in Los Angeles, but they are apparently
- 31:29taking over the entire thing. It is a massive roster.
- 31:32I suspect they will probably have like, you know, the LA area
- 31:36has no shortage of classical musicians that not only perform
- 31:40routinely on soundtracks that probably play the live theater,
- 31:47you know, Cruise of Los Angeles. Honara Band is here.
- 31:52Hello, Honara. And Lucifer's lover is here.
- 31:55So yeah, this is this is pretty massive.
- 31:59And I was a little I think because it's not metal except
- 32:02for Goblin. And maybe you could argue the
- 32:04Stranger Things guys have done some metal music that I think
- 32:07the metal press was not very impressed with this.
- 32:10But Variety had this pitchfork, whatever consequence of sound.
- 32:14I mean, like, I was really surprised that the major other
- 32:17metal sites other than Blabbermouth did not have this.
- 32:20I was, you know, maybe the first one to have it up after the
- 32:23major periodicals. I was a little surprised that
- 32:25the major metal press didn't go Gaga for this.
- 32:28But it's not really rock or metal, right?
- 32:30It's soundtracks and scores and only music nerds are going to
- 32:33love that. But I know you're all music
- 32:35nerds if you're watching this channel.
- 32:37And please give us a sub. I'm grateful for everybody that
- 32:40follows. We follow back in most cases.
- 32:42If you got a public profile, especially, we're trying to
- 32:45boost these numbers so you know, if you support us, it helps us
- 32:49keep doing what we do. Once again, a little programming
- 32:52note. I will be back tomorrow
- 32:54afternoon maybe in about 15 hours doing my weekly show.
- 32:59It's normally at night or early evening, Eastern Time to dinner
- 33:05hour. But I've got some travel
- 33:08tomorrow, so I'm going to try to do my show early, like one 2:00
- 33:13Oh, I mean, there's ocean. Lord says there's a real gap
- 33:15between metal and rock that gets forgotten about.
- 33:17I agree completely. And we love all kinds of music.
- 33:19Listen, I have a background in musicology.
- 33:22I study classical music and jazz.
- 33:25I I love rock and metal. One of my claims to fame is that
- 33:28I saw Frank Sinatra and Slayer in the same week in 1991.
- 33:31I love telling that story. It's wild.
- 33:34So, Frank, I was the youngest person at the Frank Sinatra
- 33:36show. And then I watched Slayer RIP up
- 33:38Madison Square Garden in New York and get banned for 10
- 33:41years. So anything's possible.
- 33:46The fans rioted. It was wild.
- 33:51And that's true. The gap does feed both.
- 33:54And I, I just think like, it's very interesting.
- 33:56Again, we talked earlier for those just coming on recently,
- 33:59in the last few minutes at the top of the show, I said like
- 34:02this is a gamble, but I don't think that Trent is a person,
- 34:06you know, he's put out a book. He's he's done so much stuff
- 34:09creatively and I know that he doesn't want to tour that much.
- 34:13So maybe a festival is the way to go.
- 34:14This is why I think like Metallica is winding down.
- 34:17This is the last few years of Metallica touring and I don't
- 34:20think there's even going to be a farewell tour.
- 34:21I think they're just going to stop one day and maybe a
- 34:25festival, an all day festival somewhere or a few places is a
- 34:28smarter move for them. It's less of everything, but
- 34:30like it's the same thing with this.
- 34:32It's like if this festival works like a charm, they're going to
- 34:36keep doing them and if it dies on the vine they're not going to
- 34:39keep doing them. I mean I don't see how it
- 34:41couldn't be a success. Tickets go on sale on the 21st
- 34:44in in just about a week. We don't know how much they are
- 34:47yet. The average festival ticket is
- 34:50200 to $600.00. This is a one day event.
- 34:53There's general admission and VIPI.
- 34:55Imagine the VIP to be very fancy and expensive for the LA area.
- 34:59I expect general admission to be more affordable but not cheap.
- 35:03Just being honest with you. I wouldn't be surprised if this
- 35:05was 2 or 300 bucks to get in for the day.
- 35:09That probably will not include parking.
- 35:11LA is notorious for this shystery parking.
- 35:14I remember my friends went to see Metallica last year at the
- 35:16end of the year and it was $50.00 to park at the football
- 35:19stadium where the Rams play football.
- 35:22Byron D is here. What up homie?
- 35:24Congrats on the life of agony shows.
- 35:27Hope to get to see you in the next year or so.
- 35:31So yeah, I just, you know, I'm astounded and happy that this
- 35:35festival's happening. And I'm just, you know, I'm
- 35:38wondering what the possibilities are.
- 35:39What are these possibilities? Just another couple of bits of
- 35:42nine in channel's news. We know that they have.
- 35:44I mentioned at the top, they've done 19 soundtrack scores
- 35:48officially under the name of Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross.
- 35:52They have three more coming this year and two that we know about,
- 35:55Tron Ares, which I am so stoked about.
- 35:58I am such a big Tron fan. I loved the last one, Tron
- 36:02Legacy, and I love the original Tron.
- 36:04As cheesy as it looks now by today's standards, I still love
- 36:08that movie and I'm super stoked. Go see the trailer of Tron Airs.
- 36:11It's got the 9 inch channels music in it.
- 36:13It is already. Seems like it's going to be a
- 36:16banger. Ocean Lord also says creativity
- 36:20will enable the industry to continue.
- 36:21We need to shake up what a festival is. 9 inch Channels has
- 36:23that creativity. I agree 1000%.
- 36:26Ocean Lord on point. Thank you so much for chiming in
- 36:29and commenting those comments. I'm all about it.
- 36:33I agree 9 Inch Nails will shake. I think this is really a step
- 36:37forward for festivals. I think this is super exactly
- 36:40what they wanted to do. Something unique, something
- 36:42unique to them that is their kind of ethos.
- 36:46In addition to Tron Legacy, we broke the news recently that the
- 36:50What is the Intergalactic Bounty Hunter franchise from Naughty
- 36:54Dog has 9 Inch Nails music in it.
- 36:56And then there's a third soundtrack.
- 36:58I don't remember if they've announced it yet, but I know
- 37:00there's a third one they confirmed.
- 37:02So that's at least three more whole albums this year, plus
- 37:05assuming a prophesied 9 Inch Nails album that's supposed to
- 37:10come out this year or early next year to coincide with this tour
- 37:14and maybe next year's tours. So that is the live stream.
- 37:18Unless anybody's got any more questions for me, I will get out
- 37:22of here. I'm going to be back on here in
- 37:23about 15 hours. Please like and subscribe

- 38:10Tikka Koski. Sorry if I said that wrong, but
- 38:13I'm Kefi from ghostcomagg.com. Thanks for being here.
