- 0:01A written scripture or teaching may help direct the focus of the
- 0:05mind and the Heart toward the realization to be gained no
- 0:10book. However, can replace the
- 0:13experience and an intellectual understanding does not
- 0:17constitute spiritual knowledge. Spiritual experience comes
- 0:22through receptivity to the vibratory pattern to be evoked
- 0:27in the being, the scripture, the word.
- 0:30Word helps to tune the Consciousness toward the right
- 0:34vibratory pattern. It is then necessary for the
- 0:38individual to both except the pattern and learn how to hold it
- 0:42steady in the being as it works to transform the mind, the Life
- 0:47Energy and even the body. Thus the specific Doctrine, the
- 0:54specific scripture is not required to have the spiritual
- 0:58opening and experience. What is needed, is an
- 1:02implementation of whichever scripture?
- 1:04One is following in one's own life.
- 1:07The difficulties involved in doing this on ones, own with the
- 1:10potential for misunderstanding misapplication and misdirection
- 1:16are enormous. And thus, the aid of an
- 1:20experienced guide or Guru is frequently needed to Aid in this
- 1:25tuning process, the ability of the teacher to receive and hold
- 1:30the vibratory pattern is a relayed to the individual
- 1:33speaker. Instruction in this sense is not
- 1:37necessarily or at these, not primarily intellectual, but
- 1:42consists of the creation of an atmosphere that surrounds
- 1:47supports and guides the Seeker. SRI aurobindo writes, quote,
- 1:55ordinarily, the word, from without representative of the
- 1:59Divine is needed, as an aid in the work of self unfolding.
- 2:05And it may be either a word from the past or the more powerful
- 2:10word of the living Guru. In some cases, this
- 2:14representative word is only taken as a sort of excuse for
- 2:17the inner power to awaken and manifest.
- 2:21It is as it were a concession of the omnipotent and omniscient
- 2:26Divine to the generality of a law.
- 2:29That governs nature. thus, it is said, in the opening shots of
- 2:34Krishna, son of devaki, that he received a word of the Rishi
- 2:39Gora and had the knowledge So ramakrishna having attained by
- 2:45his own internal effort to Central, illumination accepted
- 2:49several teachers in the different Paths of yoga, but
- 2:53always showed in the manner. And swiftness of his
- 2:56realization, that this acceptance was a concession to
- 3:00the general rule by which effective knowledge must be
- 3:04received as by a disciple, from a guru, but usually the
- 3:11representative It's occupies a much larger place in the life of
- 3:15the Sadiq. If the yoga is Guided by a
- 3:18received written shastra, some word from the past, which
- 3:22embodies the experience of former yoga means, it may be
- 3:26practice, either by personal effort alone or with the aid of
- 3:31a guru. The spiritual knowledge is then
- 3:34gained through meditation on the truths that are taught And it is
- 3:38made living in conscious by their realization, in the
- 3:41personal experience, the yoga proceeds by the results of
- 3:46prescribed methods taught in a scripture or a tradition and
- 3:50reinforced and illumined, by the instructions of the master.
