When Jesus prophesied what would take place during the Olivet discourse (Mark 13) He was not just listing a number of terrible things that would happen. He was pointing to His glorious return where His Messianic Kingdom would be established and all things would be made right. Through His teaching we should be provoked to a deep longing and expectation for His return.
