- 0:09Speaker 1: You're listening to a podcast from News Talk SEDB. Follow
- 0:12Speaker 1: this and our Wide Ranger podcast now on iHeartRadio.
- 0:16Speaker 2: Right. PM's back in his hotel in Kuala Lumpa now
- 0:19Speaker 2: after a dinner hosted by the Malaysians. No sign yet
- 0:22Speaker 2: of a meeting with Donald Trump. Of course, there could
- 0:24Speaker 2: be a chance at APECK. He's now done with the
- 0:27Speaker 2: Ussian Summit, that is Trump and he's off to Japan,
- 0:31Speaker 2: but Luxon remains in in Malaysia for the Asian Summit.
- 0:36Speaker 2: Then he is off to South Korea for APEC becausearri
- 0:39Speaker 2: how his news talks here by political reporter with him
- 0:41Speaker 2: in Kuala Lumpa. Welcome to the shows.
- 0:44Speaker 3: Area, Thanks so much. Good to be with you.
- 0:46Speaker 2: So any sign of the Big Man, Any sign of
- 0:48Speaker 2: Donald Trump for his modicade, Yeah, no.
- 0:51Speaker 3: Sort of sign of Donald Trump in terms of what
- 0:54Speaker 3: I've seen. I mean, he was in the area, but
- 0:56Speaker 3: he since actually left. So Donald Trump now in Japan
- 1:01Speaker 3: a meeting with their new leader. Trump did not meet
- 1:04Speaker 3: with Chris Luxen, but the two pass do cross again
- 1:07Speaker 3: in just a few days at APEX in South Korea.
- 1:11Speaker 3: There's no word though if there will be a meeting,
- 1:13Speaker 3: but there was a press conference from PM Chris Luxen,
- 1:17Speaker 3: and he said they may meet, they may not, but
- 1:20Speaker 3: admitted though that it was unlikely we will see any
- 1:22Speaker 3: sort of reprieve from those US tariffs. I mean, in
- 1:26Speaker 3: terms of the wider situation at Asian you can tell
- 1:30Speaker 3: there's something big going on. I mean, there's motorcades as
- 1:33Speaker 3: far as the eye could see, there's so much security
- 1:36Speaker 3: and police in the area. But in terms of actually
- 1:39Speaker 3: any sign of Donald Trump, haven't actually seen him and
- 1:42Speaker 3: he's gone off to Japan now, but maybe South Korea
- 1:46Speaker 3: will be the place to catch a glimpse of him.
- 1:48Speaker 2: This gala dinner that was hosted by the late Malaysian
- 1:51Speaker 2: PM tonight, what came with that much?
- 1:54Speaker 3: Yeah, well, Luxon finished the day with that gala dinner
- 1:57Speaker 3: that was put on by the Prime Minister of Malaysia.
- 1:59Speaker 3: It also came with some performances, cultural performances, speeches and
- 2:04Speaker 3: orchestra as well, but media were not invited to go
- 2:08Speaker 3: to that one. But it did sort of put an
- 2:11Speaker 3: end to what had been a massive political day for
- 2:15Speaker 3: really a lot of world leaders. I mean, Luxen met
- 2:18Speaker 3: with a number of world leaders in Malaysia for the
- 2:21Speaker 3: Asian Summit, bilateral meetings with people like the Prime Minister
- 2:25Speaker 3: of Vietnam, the PM of Cambodia, Lao Thailand as well.
- 2:30Speaker 3: And also interestingly, Chris Luckson actually met with India's Minister
- 2:34Speaker 3: of External Affairs. Now that's a really important meeting for
- 2:37Speaker 3: the government. New Zealand's really been pushing for that free
- 2:40Speaker 3: trade agreement with India, so it is important that they've
- 2:43Speaker 3: managed to get that meeting as well. But in terms
- 2:46Speaker 3: of that gala, I think it's more about celebrating Asian
- 2:50Speaker 3: and bringing together all of these sorts of cultures as well. Also,
- 2:54Speaker 3: there will be today later today in Asian New Zealand
- 2:58Speaker 3: leaders gala lunch and that comes with a kapahaka performance.
- 3:02Speaker 3: Chris Luxan last night obviously treated to those cultural performances
- 3:06Speaker 3: at that gala. This is a chance really to show
- 3:08Speaker 3: what New Zealand has to offer. So it will be
- 3:11Speaker 3: quite interesting to watch that one Zaria.
- 3:14Speaker 2: I've been to these things before. You've been to these
- 3:16Speaker 2: things before. You know, it's all about the size of
- 3:18Speaker 2: the motorcade. How big was Chris Luxeon's Because I saw
- 3:21Speaker 2: he was greeted by the Minister of Youth or something, right,
- 3:25Speaker 2: I mean it's almost like being greeted by the mayor
- 3:27Speaker 2: when you arrive.
- 3:29Speaker 3: He was greeted by the Minister of Youth. Yes, that's correct,
- 3:32Speaker 3: and I mean some people did make those comparisons between
- 3:35Speaker 3: Chris Luxon's arrival and Donald Trump's arrival. There was no
- 3:39Speaker 3: sort of dancing from Chris Luxon, no people waving flags,
- 3:43Speaker 3: but it was still he did still get a guard
- 3:45Speaker 3: of honor and a motor cat as well, so it
- 3:48Speaker 3: wasn't like it was, you know, completely nothing, but but yes, sir,
- 3:52Speaker 3: Donald Trump really taking the headlines in terms of Usiana.
- 3:56Speaker 3: And he's already left.
- 3:58Speaker 2: He's gone, he's out the building. All right, Well, we'll
- 4:00Speaker 2: look forward to your next update the Zaria Thanks very much.
