- 0:00You can turn in your Bible with me to Joel chapter
- 0:042, Joel chapter 2, and I'm going to believe this
- 0:11morning for some unique things to happen. And
- 0:19while you're turning there, we're going to switch
- 0:22gears. I meant to do this right after worship,
- 0:24that's why I forgot, but we are... We have the
- 0:28privilege this morning of receiving nine new
- 0:34people into membership. Amen? Isn't that awesome?
- 0:41Praise the Lord. And so I am going to call their
- 0:47names and ask them to come down here to the front
- 0:51this morning. Sam and Kathy Smith. Amen. Now,
- 0:59they turned in their application like months
- 1:02and months ago, and so this should have come
- 1:05a lot sooner for them, but here they are. Amen.
- 1:10Abigail Hill. Tim and Jesse Butler. Are they
- 1:21here? Oh, they're in Kids Church. That's why
- 1:26I meant to do it right after worship. So standing
- 1:31in for Tim and Jesse is Ben and Charlene Butler.
- 1:39Amen. And last but not least is Jack and Gina
- 1:44Piper. Amen. Did I get everybody? I think so.
- 1:54Okay, so Tim and Jesse, we actually, oh, one
- 2:01more. Yes, Logan, come up here. Now, the reason
- 2:06I miss Logan is because he was already a junior
- 2:10member, and he is transferring to become a full
- 2:14-fledged member. He turned 18, and we're excited
- 2:19about that. Praise God. Isn't this amazing? Jesus
- 2:29is building his church. Now, some of these are
- 2:31up here because they're part of our pastoral
- 2:33team. Jack and Gina are preparing to move to
- 2:38Petersburg. They're already ministering there
- 2:40regularly and will pastor that church. And we're
- 2:46excited about that. We're believing for their
- 2:49house to sell in Monmouth. When they're not here,
- 2:53they're in Petersburg, and they drive two hours
- 2:56either way. And we're thankful for their sacrifice.
- 3:00Amen. And then Ben and Charlene have joined us
- 3:04as youth pastors, and so they're part of our
- 3:07pastoral team. And so we're excited about what
- 3:11God is doing in the house. Amen. Praise the Lord.
- 3:16We believe that membership, you don't necessarily
- 3:18find membership in the Bible per se. In fact,
- 3:24there's not a lot of instruction on how every
- 3:27single local church should do everything. We
- 3:30find membership to be a step of covenant. And
- 3:35covenant is something that you do find in the
- 3:38Bible. And this is about one another. Amen? And
- 3:42so when a person has grown in their faith to
- 3:45the point where they are ready to covenant with
- 3:48the church, that's how we view membership. Membership
- 3:54is to the body at large, as we are all part of
- 3:59the kingdom of God no matter where we go, right?
- 4:02But this is commitment not just to the kingdom
- 4:06at large, but to the local family that is right
- 4:11here in Lincoln, Illinois, and in Petersburg,
- 4:14Illinois, Faith Church. And we're thankful for
- 4:19that. And so I just want to ask you some questions.
- 4:22And candidates, you can respond by just saying,
- 4:27I do or I will, whatever is appropriate. Will
- 4:31you purpose in your heart to walk in unity with
- 4:34your brothers and sisters as long as it depends
- 4:37on you? Live at peace with all men. Will you
- 4:42with the help of the Holy Spirit guard your testimony
- 4:45and live in a manner pleasing to the Lord? Will
- 4:50you as unto the Lord give as the Lord enables
- 4:53you to support the various works of the ministry?
- 4:57Will you give yourself to prayer and to the word
- 5:00as you grow in him? Will you come under and support
- 5:05the covering of this house as we pursue the vision
- 5:08that God gives to us? Will you offer the gifts
- 5:13that God has given to you, not only to bless
- 5:16the Lord, but to minister to others, both the
- 5:19believers already here and those that are lost?
- 5:24Finally, above all things, will you clothe yourself
- 5:27with love, encouraging and spurring one another
- 5:31on until the appearing of Jesus Christ? Praise
- 5:36the Lord. Amen. Glory to God. Glory to God. Just
- 5:42hold steady here a minute because I'm going to
- 5:44ask the church, those that are members here and
- 5:48those that are part of the church, all of us,
- 5:50will you receive this group of members into the
- 5:55family, spurring them on and encouraging them
- 5:59in their walk with the Lord and continue in unity
- 6:03so long as it depends upon you? Will you not
- 6:08only minister to them with your gifts, but will
- 6:12you receive ministry from them as the Lord has
- 6:17gifted them? And will you clothe yourself with
- 6:22love and freely give to them what you have freely
- 6:27received from the Lord? Hallelujah. And so, it
- 6:32is with an open heart. that we fully receive
- 6:37each of you today into membership of Faith Church.
- 6:43Hallelujah. Hallelujah. Hallelujah. I'm going
- 6:50to ask the current elders that are here, and
- 6:53I'm going to ask Dennis and Linda as well. as
- 6:58our missions pastors to join us up here and lay
- 7:02hands on them as we commit them to the Lord and
- 7:06pray over them. I'm going to ask the rest of
- 7:09us. Oh, good thing Dennis and Linda are here.
- 7:15The DECOs are out celebrating their 50th anniversary.
- 7:21That's kind of important, don't you think? Yeah,
- 7:24I think so too. Church, stretch your hands towards
- 7:28these right now and just pray over them. Hallelujah.
- 7:33We thank you, Father. We thank you, Father. We
- 7:38just lay hands on these, God. We thank you for
- 7:41them joining to the house. We bless them in the
- 7:46name of Jesus. We thank you, Father, for your
- 7:50hand upon them, God. Lord, we just lay hands
- 7:54upon them. In Jesus' name. In Jesus' name. In
- 7:59Jesus' name. In Jesus' name. In Jesus' name.
- 8:04We thank you, Father. We thank you, Father. We
- 8:09give you glory, God. We give you glory, God.
- 8:13We thank you, Father. We thank you, Father. We
- 8:17give you praise, Lord. We give you praise. We
- 8:22magnify your name. Father, we... pray over these
- 8:25right now. We know that they walk through life
- 8:30just as we do. And we know that it's filled with
- 8:34victories. It's filled, Lord, with battles. It's
- 8:39filled with ups and it's filled with downs. And
- 8:43I ask God in Jesus' name that as they are united
- 8:46covenantally, they are united to this family,
- 8:50that your strength And that your favor, the favor
- 8:55that is on this house, would be on them in Jesus'
- 8:59name. And God, we thank you for using them in
- 9:04ministry, in works of righteousness. God, we
- 9:09thank you for helping them walk with you day
- 9:12by day in Jesus' name. Amen. Glory to God. Glory
- 9:19to God. Give Him praise. Give Him praise. Give
- 9:23him praise. Hallelujah. Glory to Jesus. Glory
- 9:28to Jesus. You can all be seated. We will have
- 9:31certificates for all of you, but our copier is
- 9:33acting up and not printing well. And so we want
- 9:37it to be acting right when we print those. And
- 9:39so we will have those for you. And we're thankful
- 9:42for God working in your lives. Glory to Jesus.
- 9:49Amen. Well, are you in Joel chapter 2? And so,
- 9:54if you are in Joel chapter 2, I want to read
- 9:58probably one of the most famous verses in the
- 10:02Pentecostal world, and it's the verse that Peter
- 10:07quoted in Acts chapter 2. I'm not going to read
- 10:12the whole thing, but I'm going to read part of
- 10:15it, and starting in verse 28. And it shall come
- 10:21to pass afterward that I will pour my Spirit
- 10:26on all flesh. Everybody say, all flesh. Your
- 10:32sons and your daughters shall prophesy. Your
- 10:36old men shall dream dreams. Your young men shall
- 10:43see visions. And also on my menservants and my
- 10:48maidservants, I will pour out my spirit in those
- 10:52days. And I will show wonders in the heavens
- 10:56and in the earth, blood and fire and pillars
- 10:59of smoke. And the sun shall be turned into darkness
- 11:03and the moon into blood before the coming of
- 11:06the great and awesome day of the Lord. And it
- 11:10shall come to pass that whoever calls on the
- 11:13name of the Lord shall be saved. For in Mount
- 11:18Zion and in Jerusalem there shall be deliverance,
- 11:23as the Lord has said, among the remnant whom
- 11:29the Lord calls. Glory to God. Glory to God. Father,
- 11:36I thank you for your word. I ask God that you
- 11:40would just anoint this moment. And cause your
- 11:45word to go into our hearts. Lord, often as I'm
- 11:49reading it, it just goes into me and it just
- 11:53ministers to me. And I ask that that would happen
- 11:57today in Jesus' name. Amen. Now given the choice
- 12:04between seeing visions and dreaming dreams, after
- 12:08reading this, I want to see visions. I just want
- 12:13to say that. It's the young men that see the
- 12:16visions. I'm not ready to dream dreams yet. It's
- 12:22the old men that dream the dreams. I feel like
- 12:31in my life I'm hanging in the balance. My grandsons
- 12:36are here. Is Papa old or young? That's right.
- 12:46You seniors in the house, is Pastor young or
- 12:50old? Oh, hallelujah. Which crowd I like more?
- 12:58I'm in that in -between place. Anybody else in
- 13:02the in -between place? I see sons pointing at
- 13:07their mothers. I feel like I'm in the in -between
- 13:11place, and I am neither young nor old. Sometimes
- 13:18I feel really young, and sometimes I feel really
- 13:23old. That's the way that it is. I believe this
- 13:28morning, God wants to do something in your life.
- 13:34And it does not matter if you're young or old.
- 13:39It does not matter if you're male or female.
- 13:43And it does not matter what nationality you come
- 13:47from, what your culture is, what the culture
- 13:52of your family is. Every family culture is different.
- 13:59And God speaks the language of your family. Aren't
- 14:04you glad for that? And so God wants to do something
- 14:08in your life. He wants to unlock something in
- 14:13your life. Thank you, Lord. And so Joel came
- 14:17along and the timing of the prophet Joel as to
- 14:22when he prophesied this is very much in dispute
- 14:26because he doesn't mention anything in his letter
- 14:30that would connect it to a historical event.
- 14:35And so some scholars think that Joel was written
- 14:39long before Isaiah, which we're going to get
- 14:42to Isaiah in a little while in the message this
- 14:45morning. And some believe he was closer to Malachi
- 14:49than Isaiah was. And so there's about a 500 -year
- 14:53span of arguing over when this book was written.
- 14:58For our purposes this morning, it does not matter
- 15:02when it was written. Because the promises that
- 15:06are in it are yes and amen in Christ. How many
- 15:12of you believe that if somebody is looking for
- 15:14help, that they ought to be able to find it at
- 15:18a church? That if somebody needs food, that if
- 15:24they call the church and I answer the phone and
- 15:28they say, I need food, that it would be wrong
- 15:32for me to say, Sorry, we don't have any. Because
- 15:39the churches exist to provide. Amen? And to give.
- 15:51In fact, the calling to social ministry is very
- 15:55real. To take care of the poor. To feed the hungry.
- 16:00To clothe the naked. To visit people that are
- 16:04in prison. Amen? It is very simple. Sometimes
- 16:10the church is not very good at that. Sometimes
- 16:14the church is good at having services. I thank
- 16:18God for the Tuesday food distribution. You know,
- 16:23if nothing happens other than the fact that we
- 16:25give food away, that's a good thing. Amen? We're
- 16:31doing the work of the kingdom. We're doing the
- 16:34work of the kingdom. But God wants to do way
- 16:37more than meet your physical needs. God wants
- 16:43to touch you in your spirit. And Joel's prophecy
- 16:48here is an amazing prophecy. I'm not going to
- 16:54attempt to preach every point of this prophetic.
- 16:58I want to draw a few things that I believe that
- 17:01God wants to speak to us this morning. And the
- 17:05first one is this. When God pours His Spirit
- 17:08out, He pours it out in abundance. He is a liberal
- 17:17God. Some of you aren't too sure about that because
- 17:21your view of the word liberal is different. God
- 17:25is a liberal God. He gives liberally. There's
- 17:31perhaps some ways that we should take up that
- 17:35liberality and become like Him. He gives abundantly.
- 17:41I want to read from the pulpit Bible commentary.
- 17:45I don't often do this. But the word for God pouring
- 17:50out His Spirit is the word Shafak. It is a Hebrew
- 17:57word. And the word shafak, which is employed
- 18:01by the prophet to express the outpouring of the
- 18:05Spirit, implies the bestowal of the gift in great
- 18:10abundance. I don't even quote Calvin often, but
- 18:15listen to this. As Calvin clearly pointed out,
- 18:19For shafak, he says, does not mean to merely
- 18:23give in drops, but to pour out in great abundance.
- 18:30Hallelujah. But God did not pour out the Holy
- 18:36Spirit so abundantly or copiously under the law
- 18:41as He has since the manifestation of Christ.
- 18:45In the Old Testament, There are some awesome
- 18:49stories. Elijah standing before the prophet Baal
- 18:53and calling down fire. Hallelujah. It's an awesome
- 18:57story, isn't it? But the only one that experienced
- 19:00the fire was Elijah. In the Old Testament, it
- 19:05was here a little, there a little. Some awesome
- 19:08things happened to prove God's reality. But the
- 19:11abundance after the resurrection of Christ, of
- 19:16the outpouring of the Spirit, is for everybody.
- 19:20Glory to God. Hallelujah. The Spirit was indeed
- 19:25communicated in Old Testament times, but that
- 19:29communication was restricted in two ways, in
- 19:33quantity and in the number of recipients, the
- 19:38former comparatively scanty and the latter few.
- 19:43Whereas the word here applied to its communication
- 19:47implies a rich supply. like a copious rainfall.
- 19:55After the specification of the time and the mention
- 20:00of the blessing, with its implied plentifulness,
- 20:04comes its wide diffusion. God has not limited
- 20:11himself to the few. He has made himself available
- 20:17to the many. The term all flesh does not mean
- 20:27that every single person in the world is going
- 20:30to experience the outpouring of the Holy Spirit.
- 20:34The term all flesh means that all types of people,
- 20:40any type of person, can receive the outpouring
- 20:47of the Holy Spirit. God's blessing for your life
- 20:52is very real. Amen? And it is abundant. And so
- 20:59the author, Joel, goes on and he describes some
- 21:07of that flesh. First of all, it is open to your
- 21:12sons and your daughters. Amen? Now can I say
- 21:19something? That in this society that Joel is
- 21:23preaching to, this is a radical statement. The
- 21:29Holy Spirit is not just for the men, but the
- 21:34Holy Spirit is for the women. The Holy Spirit
- 21:39is not limited. to anybody's life in this room.
- 21:44Paul said it like this. There is neither male
- 21:47nor female. But that the blessing and the abundance
- 21:52of God can be poured out on everybody. Glory
- 21:56to God. That's so good. Because you know what
- 21:59men do? Men try to draw lines. And they try to
- 22:03say, this is what makes you in. And this is what
- 22:06makes you out. God destroys all those lines.
- 22:10And he says the abundance of the Holy Spirit
- 22:13is for everybody, male and female. And he goes
- 22:19on, having said your sons and daughters, he says
- 22:23your old men shall dream dreams. I want to pause
- 22:30here a moment because I think that this is one
- 22:32of the primary things that God wants to speak
- 22:35to us. this morning. Your old men shall dream
- 22:43dreams. Why does he speak this out? Just meditating
- 22:54on this. These are people that have lived a while.
- 23:04We have young people in this room, and we have
- 23:08older people in this room. If you're not afraid
- 23:12to say how old you are, is there anybody in this
- 23:17room 75 or older? Wow. Is there anybody in this
- 23:25room 80 or older? Is there anybody in this room,
- 23:34I'll go up, 85 or older? 86 or older? 87 or older?
- 23:4688 or older? Nancy and Brother Bob, can we just
- 23:53honor them right now? In Jesus' name. When you
- 24:01get older, there's one thing that's inevitable.
- 24:06You suffer loss. You suffer loss. And it's not
- 24:15just in your family. It is in life. I was listening
- 24:22to the 100 -year interview of Dick Van Dyke.
- 24:26He said the hardest thing is that everybody that
- 24:28I've done life with is no longer here. And it's
- 24:33difficult. Do you know what he has suffered?
- 24:37Loss. Loss. Ways that you once cherished are
- 24:46not there anymore. And you wish that those old
- 24:53ways could come back. The things that you valued
- 25:03aren't valued by the generation of today. And
- 25:08that's true no matter which generation gets older.
- 25:13That's always forever true. But you suffer loss.
- 25:22And along with loss comes A biblical thing called
- 25:33mourning. Loss equates mourning. There was an
- 25:41ordained pastor that I was reading. and he was
- 25:47writing as an 81 -year -old retired pastor, and
- 25:50he was really remembering the outpouring of the
- 25:54Holy Spirit and the way that God used to move
- 25:56around the altars, and he was lamenting that
- 26:01it isn't that way anymore. And there were different
- 26:05ones responding, saying, well, you know, it's
- 26:08not the same, but it's still there, or it's a...
- 26:12You know, it's different. You need to change.
- 26:16And it hit me. This pastor is mourning. He is
- 26:25in mourning something that has been lost that
- 26:30he perceives is no longer there. Mourning. I
- 26:40want us to turn to Isaiah chapter 61. This is
- 26:47one of the foundational verses of faith church
- 26:53and the ministry of Jesus. Verse 2. To comfort
- 27:16all who mourn. Now, The power of this verse is
- 27:29that it is not just talking about those that
- 27:31have been widowed or are widowers in the family
- 27:37sense. The power of this verse is that it is
- 27:40talking about people that remembered Israel when
- 27:44it was free. And now it's not free. And they
- 27:48remembered Israel when it was walking right with
- 27:51God. And now it's not walking right with God.
- 27:55and so they are in mourning. How many of you,
- 28:00when you read the newspaper about America, sometimes
- 28:02your heart begins to grieve? All is not well
- 28:09in the United States of America. And for the
- 28:14Christian, it can move us to grieving, to mourning.
- 28:21And Isaiah was identifying with the people that
- 28:25were mourning over their nation. But the truth
- 28:30applies to any that have suffered loss. That
- 28:34God does not leave you in the state of your mourning.
- 28:39And that's important. Now, there's a progression
- 28:44here. And at the end of verse 2, it says, to
- 28:49comfort all who mourn. And if you are in a fresh
- 28:53place of suffering loss, then you are supposed
- 28:57to be in the place of mourning. Don't let people
- 29:01move you out of that place too quickly. That
- 29:04is God doing a work inside of you. And the first
- 29:10thing that God does when we are mourning is He
- 29:13comes alongside of us and He comforts us. He
- 29:18comforts all who mourn. He is not saying, come
- 29:22on, buck up and get over it. He's not saying
- 29:27that. Jesus said, come to me all who are weary
- 29:31and heavy laden, and I will give you rest. And
- 29:36you shall find rest for your souls. What is the
- 29:39work of the Holy Spirit that Jesus said? It is
- 29:43the work of comforting. And if you have suffered
- 29:47loss and you are grieving, perhaps you got fired
- 29:51from a job you love, or perhaps a business that
- 29:54you started has Come to the place where it can
- 29:58no longer go on. Guess what you are probably
- 30:02going to feel? You're going to feel a measure
- 30:06of mourning. Even when Elijah mourned, God didn't
- 30:11at first come alongside and call him to change.
- 30:15He first came alongside of him and comforted
- 30:19him. And I want to thank God for the comfort
- 30:23of the Holy Spirit. Amen. And if you're in that
- 30:27place this morning, I want you to know you are
- 30:29not alone and that there is a God that is coming
- 30:33alongside of you. And that work of mourning is
- 30:38the beginning of healing and opening up your
- 30:41soul to the Lord. And it is good to surrender
- 30:45to that mourning and just let that mourning happen
- 30:49before the Lord. It is a good thing. But mourning,
- 30:55can go on for too long. And when mourning goes
- 31:03on for too long, the work of the Holy Spirit
- 31:07begins to shift. And then the next thing that
- 31:13happens is that consolation comes. The King James
- 31:18word here is appointed. To appoint those who
- 31:23mourn in Zion. And what that word embodies is
- 31:31the beginning of a turning point. That you are
- 31:36no longer in the place of mourning, but now you
- 31:41are in a place of preparation. Because you've
- 31:45lost something, but God is not done with you.
- 31:52Amen? You've lost something, but God is not done
- 31:59with you. Because if he was done with you, you
- 32:03would not be here anymore. I'm telling you what,
- 32:07as long as there is breath in these lungs, there
- 32:09is purpose for this life. And you need to declare
- 32:13that over yourself. That as long as there's breath
- 32:16in my lungs, I have a reason to live. As long
- 32:20as there's breath in my lungs, I have purpose
- 32:22in my life. And so that season of mourning comes
- 32:27to an end and God begins to turn you around and
- 32:31say it is time to engage in life again. Oh, hallelujah.
- 32:38There's no time frame. There's no specific time
- 32:42frame. Sometimes I wish that it were more like
- 32:47in the Old Testament where you could just shut
- 32:49everything down. In the Old Testament, when it
- 32:53came time to mourn for 30 or 60 days, they would
- 32:56shut everything down, and those were the days
- 32:59to weep. And those were the days to just pour
- 33:03your heart out. And then those days would come
- 33:06to an end. But in today's culture, we don't have
- 33:10that. We have a few days where maybe a celebration
- 33:14of life, and then you're on your own, and you're
- 33:16supposed to just muddle through life and just
- 33:18get over it. And sometimes I think it takes a
- 33:22little bit longer than that. And some people
- 33:26that I talk to say that those initial stages
- 33:29of mourning can be a year and sometimes longer.
- 33:34But there comes a moment when the mourning is
- 33:38over and the equipping begins. And a person begins
- 33:46to say, so what now, Lord? What now? What now?
- 33:56And the first thing that God does is he equips
- 33:58you. Is he sweeps away the ashes. And he gives
- 34:06you beauty. That's a good day, isn't it? That's
- 34:13a good day. When the ashes are gone, that was
- 34:16what... burned up yesterday the ashes that you
- 34:20hang on to by looking in the past all the time
- 34:23the ashes were yesterday's sacrifice and that
- 34:27was a good moment but it is over and it is no
- 34:31longer gone and you clear the ashes away so that
- 34:35that which is new can come hallelujah Oh, glory
- 34:40to God. I want to speak over somebody whose children
- 34:45no longer live with you, and since they've moved
- 34:48out, you have been in a state of mourning. And
- 34:53they're not gone, but it's not the same. And
- 34:57you are in a state of mourning, and in fact,
- 34:59you don't even know what to do. But I'm telling
- 35:03you, God has new purpose for your life. Hallelujah.
- 35:08Things, in fact, that you thought were not a
- 35:11blessing are going to become a blessing because
- 35:14things are opening up in your life. God has not
- 35:18called you to just meander wishing the ashes
- 35:22would reform and become what they once were.
- 35:25They will not. But God has new beauty for your
- 35:29life. And he has a new plan. Oh, hallelujah.
- 35:34The other thing he does is that he replaces that
- 35:38spirit of mourning that has been on your life,
- 35:41that once had a place for your life, but now
- 35:45it is no longer supposed to be there. Now he
- 35:49wants to give you the oil of joy. Hallelujah.
- 35:54Oh, my God, my God, my God. And some people think,
- 35:59well, this should not be. If I really loved the
- 36:02thing that I lost, or if I really... love the
- 36:05one that I lost, then I've got to keep myself
- 36:08in the place where I am not happy anymore. Because
- 36:12if I'm not happy anymore, that somehow expresses
- 36:16that I still am having love for the person in
- 36:20the past. And can I tell you, that is a lie of
- 36:24the enemy that wants to keep you from healing.
- 36:29what you will find is that you have room enough
- 36:32in your heart to love the people that God gave
- 36:35to you in the past and walk in the joy of the
- 36:40Lord and walk in the joy of the Holy Spirit.
- 36:45And I just right now, there might be somebody
- 36:49here this morning that would say, it's been a
- 36:52long time since I really laughed. It's been a
- 37:02long time. In fact, since that diagnosis, five,
- 37:10six, seven years ago, I've not really had joy.
- 37:19God wants to begin to pour the oil of joy over
- 37:25you again. What is this? I'm beginning to dream
- 37:33again. What is this? God is putting something
- 37:40in my heart again. Can you feel the Holy Spirit
- 37:47in this room right now? What is this? Something
- 37:53is being awakened inside of me that has been
- 37:57dormant. It's the oil of joy. It's the garment
- 38:14of praise. He wants to make you dance again.
- 38:25Maybe physically dancing now means I'm just rocking
- 38:30back and forth like this. But it's on the inside.
- 38:37I feel the joy of the Lord in this house. Come
- 38:42on. Your old men shall dream dreams. And God
- 38:55doesn't want it to just stop there. He doesn't
- 38:57want just the spirit of heaviness to be gone.
- 38:59He doesn't want you to just have feelings of
- 39:01joy again. He is going to call you. once again
- 39:07with a renewed purpose and renewed vision for
- 39:11your life. He is going to plant you in a field.
- 39:14You are going to be called the planting of the
- 39:18Lord. Hallelujah. Why? So that God might be glorified.
- 39:23So that God might be glorified. Anybody that
- 39:27you know that has suffered loss, do you know
- 39:29what the end of that loss is if they will submit
- 39:32and surrender to God? that He might be glorified.
- 39:36Hallelujah. If we can see the end from the beginning,
- 39:39we feel like nothing is ever going to heal. We
- 39:43feel like nothing is ever going to get to the
- 39:46place. But when we come before the Lord and we
- 39:48say, God, pour Your Spirit out upon me. I know
- 39:52it's for me. He begins to renew you. And He begins
- 39:56to do things in your life that you never thought
- 39:58were possible. And He plants you. He plants you.
- 40:03to grow anew and you begin to have like 2 .0
- 40:07happening in your life and God is glorified in
- 40:11a way that you never thought possible. And they
- 40:23shall rebuild the old ruins. And so As I was
- 40:31preparing this message, I found that thread again,
- 40:34the Assemblies of God minister page of this 81
- 40:38-year -old man. And I said, I wrote to him, and
- 40:48I said, you're grieving for the moving of the
- 40:52Holy Spirit. But your grieving is going to turn
- 40:59to joy. And God is going to give you a dream
- 41:03again. And it's going to move you. They shall
- 41:10rebuild the old ruins. Now, they're not going
- 41:14to look exactly the same as they did. But they're
- 41:18going to be there. And they're going to be filled
- 41:20with life. And the wells that were once stopped
- 41:25up are going to flow with water again. Why? Because
- 41:29you got a dream. You've got to dream. They shall
- 41:37repair the ruined cities. The desolations of
- 41:42many generations. These are the mourners. These
- 41:45are the people that have suffered loss. And now
- 41:49strangers are going to feed their flocks. Sons
- 41:53of the foreigner shall plow. And vine dressers.
- 41:59And you, the mourners, the ones that have suffered
- 42:03loss, shall be priests of the Lord Most High.
- 42:08You know where the fulfillment of this is? Right
- 42:14now. Right now. Everyone in this room is a priest
- 42:22standing between God and man. With responsibility
- 42:32and authority and purpose. There is nobody in
- 42:40this room that the church can do without. There
- 42:47is nobody in this room that doesn't have an assignment
- 42:54from heaven. The old men shall dream dreams.
- 43:05I know I've lost a lot. I know the way that things
- 43:09used to be that I really liked. But my eyes are
- 43:15set, not in the rear view mirror, but on the
- 43:20future. And like Caleb, they stand up and say,
- 43:25God, give me this mountain. just translating
- 43:30that here. God, the outpouring of the Spirit
- 43:34that I once knew. That faith church, faith church
- 43:40is experiencing a little bit of it, but I've
- 43:43dreamed a dream. And I've seen this place full.
- 43:47Hallelujah. And I'm asking God to give us the
- 43:51mountain of revival. And I'm asking God to give
- 43:55us the mountain of souls coming into the kingdom.
- 43:58of lives transforming in the name of Jesus. I've
- 44:03asked God that in my time that I have left, as
- 44:07I keep sowing and I keep sowing and I keep sowing,
- 44:11that God is going to move like He said He would
- 44:14because God has given me a dream. Hallelujah.
- 44:22How many of you could do with a new dream in
- 44:25your life? I'm not asking you if you're old or
- 44:26not. How many of you could do with a new dream
- 44:29in your life? Come on. You could do with something
- 44:32of substance from God. And I'm not talking about
- 44:36you just coming up with something to fill your
- 44:40time that you enjoy doing. I'm talking about
- 44:43something of substance that's going to make a
- 44:46difference in the kingdom of God. Driving back
- 44:49the kingdom of darkness. seeing the kingdom of
- 44:53God come forth in Jesus' name. Who would like
- 44:57that kind of a dream in your heart and in your
- 45:01life? Hands are up all over this room. Hallelujah.
- 45:05Glory to God. Glory to God. And so Isaiah ends
- 45:10chapter 61, and he says, I will greatly rejoice
- 45:14in the Lord. My soul shall be joyful in my God,
- 45:18for He has clothed me with the garments of salvation,
- 45:23covered me with the robe of righteousness as
- 45:26a bridegroom decks himself with ornaments and
- 45:30as a bride adorns herself with her jewels. Hallelujah.
- 45:35These are people that were in mourning. And in
- 45:40a spiritual sense, church, I want to call you
- 45:43out of mourning in the name of the Lord. When
- 45:46you remember what God has done in the past, in
- 45:50revivals, I want to remind you that the best
- 45:53is yet to come. That we're not looking at the
- 45:56past just to say how great it was. The best is
- 46:00yet to come. Hallelujah. We're not just remembering
- 46:05the past just so that we can just cherish it
- 46:10and just say, well, I'm glad that was a part
- 46:12of my life. No, God, we are hungry for you to
- 46:16move now. In Jesus' name. God, do it again. God,
- 46:28do it again. God, do it again. Thank you, Father.
- 46:42Thank you, Father. Your young men shall see visions.
- 46:48Some of you younger people, it's not either generation
- 46:55is not lesser or greater. It's this. Some of
- 47:02you young people have never experienced the move
- 47:04of God in much capacity. You've not seen yet
- 47:12what it looks like when God pours His Spirit
- 47:16out on a city or in a region. And God is not
- 47:22saying that you are lesser because of that. In
- 47:25fact, He's going to give you a special gift.
- 47:29And it is the gift of vision. And He's going
- 47:35to cause you to see things that people in your
- 47:38generation are not seeing. He's going to cause
- 47:42you to know things about God and about what God
- 47:45is going to do that people in your generation
- 47:48do not know and do not see. He's going to give
- 47:52you a vision for what is going to be fulfilled
- 47:56in your life. Your young people shall see visions.
- 48:01Your older people shall dream dreams. And the
- 48:05two of them working together will see God do
- 48:08incredible things in our time and in our day.
- 48:13Amen. Praise God. You young people, when you
- 48:18hear about what God has done, I hope that...
- 48:22two things will happen. One, you'll say, wow,
- 48:24that is amazing. Our God is amazing. But the
- 48:27other thing I hope that will rise up within you
- 48:29is a hunger that says, but God, I want to see
- 48:33it in my lifetime. I want to see it in my generation.
- 48:39I want to see it in my school, in my junior high,
- 48:43in my high school, in my time. I want to see
- 48:46the reality of who you are happen in my day.
- 48:53In Jesus' name. Your young men shall see visions.
- 49:01And God does a new thing. Pour out my spirit
- 49:07on all flesh. There's a whole lot of reasons
- 49:12why God pours out his spirit. I want to close
- 49:21right now. And I want to just ask you to present
- 49:28yourself before the Lord and say, God, I want
- 49:30you to do it in me. And if you could, just posture
- 49:37yourself for the abundance of the Holy Spirit.
- 49:44In fact, just right now, just bow your heads
- 49:47around this room. And just begin to talk to the
- 49:51Lord. And just begin to say, God, I need the
- 49:57infilling of your presence in my life. I need
- 50:02the infilling of your spirit in my life. Hallelujah.
