- 0:05Speaker 1: Whoa, what's going on?
- 0:06Speaker 2: It's your boy T. Will from the Hustle Sports Fantasy
- 0:08Speaker 2: Podcast channel. Look, today I am talking to the category
- 0:13Speaker 2: players out there. I know I'm the show points league,
- 0:16Speaker 2: some love. I always show y'all love. Look, today for
- 0:20Speaker 2: the category players. Look, I got hidden non-category gems.
- 0:25Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying? People who don't need 20
- 0:26Speaker 1: points to score. You know what I mean? You might
- 0:29Speaker 1: have scoring on lock. You know what I mean? You
- 0:30Speaker 1: might have all your other situations on lock.
- 0:34Speaker 2: You might just need to find a guy ain't nobody
- 0:36Speaker 2: else thinking about because the name ain't sexy.
- 0:39Speaker 1: All right, look, I'm going to be honest, bro.
- 0:42Speaker 2: If you are valuable in this fantasy space, you got
- 0:46Speaker 2: a chance to be on the squad. That's how you
- 0:48Speaker 2: got to think, bro. It's all business minded. Look, I
- 0:50Speaker 2: got six players breaking down nine category fantasy value. Like
- 0:54Speaker 2: I say, that go beyond scoring. As you know, just
- 0:58Speaker 2: for the reminder for the people out there who don't play,
- 1:01Speaker 2: nine cat tracks points.
- 1:03Speaker 1: Threes, rebounds, assists, steals, blocks, field goal percentage, free throw percentage.
- 1:08Speaker 2: And turnovers. You need to be ahead in eight categories
- 1:11Speaker 2: to win. You need to have the fewest, obviously, in
- 1:14Speaker 2: the turnover category to win. I know my category players
- 1:18Speaker 2: know that, but I just got to let the people
- 1:20Speaker 2: know who don't know that.
- 1:21Speaker 1: Look, you can win your category. You can smash that.
- 1:25Speaker 1: Don't matter. View up. That's it.
- 1:27Speaker 2: So look, you need five of nine. That's why category
- 1:32Speaker 2: scarcity matters. You can find scoring. And I've been talking
- 1:36Speaker 2: about that all off season. You can find scoring anywhere
- 1:41Speaker 2: at any time, honestly. I'm not even going to lie
- 1:43Speaker 2: to you. Scoring can pop up anywhere. Think about Bryce
- 1:47Speaker 2: Sensabaugh last year in 2026, 2025, 2026. Think about stuff
- 1:52Speaker 2: like that. Isaiah Collier. He was a category player for
- 1:56Speaker 2: points and assists. So yeah, you can find consistent offensive production,
- 2:02Speaker 2: like scoring.
- 2:03Speaker 1: It's the other stuff that you need to be focused on.
- 2:07Speaker 2: Before we jump into it, though, man, look, I'm going
- 2:09Speaker 2: to give you a stat dunk ad so you can

- 2:14Speaker 2: because you already know why we're here.
- 2:16Speaker 1: We're here to get dubs.
- 2:18Speaker 3: You know what's worse than losing your fantasy basketball league?
- 2:21Speaker 3: Realizing you could have won with a few smarter decisions.
- 2:25Speaker 3: That's where StatDunk comes in. Their mock draft simulator helps
- 2:29Speaker 3: you practice, identify steals, reaches, and value picks. Their draft
- 2:34Speaker 3: assistant uses your league's format and scoring settings, not generic ADP.

- 2:57Speaker 3: can flip. your matchup analyze every team strength and weaknesses
- 3:01Speaker 3: find trade partners and build offers benefiting both sides and
- 3:05Speaker 3: here's the deal stat dunk pro normally costs 30 annually
- 3:09Speaker 3: but with my code believe 20 is just 1999 for
- 3:13Speaker 3: the whole year that's over 30 off stop guessing start
- 3:17Speaker 3: winning visit statdunk.com and use believe 20.
- 3:21Speaker 2: Today statdunk.com to help get you some dubs let's keep
- 3:26Speaker 2: it pushing baby First up, man, defensive upside play. And, man,
- 3:32Speaker 2: I ain't going to lie.
- 3:33Speaker 3: Ooh.
- 3:34Speaker 1: Ooh.
- 3:34Speaker 2: Make sure y'all go check out his highlight from today.
- 3:37Speaker 2: Today is the 24th or the 25th now. But his
- 3:42Speaker 2: highlight from the 24th, man, he got a crazy dunk
- 3:46Speaker 2: against Chicago. But, look, aside from the scoring, bro, Bilal
- 3:51Speaker 2: Koulibaly of the Washington Wizards, bro, he's an interesting non-category target.
- 3:57Speaker 2: because he offers potentials for stocks. I know people who
- 4:01Speaker 2: always looking for them stock specialists. Here's one right here,
- 4:04Speaker 2: and he's coming from the guard position.
- 4:06Speaker 1: Look at that. You see it right here.
- 4:08Speaker 2: Two steals, a block and a half in the first
- 4:11Speaker 2: two games of the 2026-2027 season. That combination is deadly
- 4:16Speaker 2: from the guard spot, bro.
- 4:18Speaker 1: It's crazy. I ain't gonna lie. This is one of
- 4:20Speaker 1: my go-tos last season, too.
- 4:22Speaker 2: I know I've been speaking about last season a lot,
- 4:24Speaker 2: but I just be wanting to let y'all know You
- 4:28Speaker 2: establish this rapport with these players when you changing them
- 4:30Speaker 2: out and you streaming. When you seriously trying to get
- 4:33Speaker 2: a dub, you know a little bit about a little
- 4:36Speaker 2: bit about everybody. Look, Bilal, Kula Bali gives your roster flexibility. Look,
- 4:43Speaker 2: he got the opportunity to contribute rebounds as well. You
- 4:48Speaker 2: see rebounds for the assist. The playmaking ain't crazy in
- 4:53Speaker 2: the first two games.
- 4:54Speaker 1: But I don't expect it to stay that way. I
- 4:58Speaker 1: expect him to be closer to that four range. You
- 5:01Speaker 1: know what I mean? Maybe low threes. Who knows?
- 5:03Speaker 2: But you ain't grabbing him for the playmaking. You grabbing
- 5:06Speaker 2: him for the stocks. Little help on the rebounding. And
- 5:10Speaker 2: as you see here, he averaged 11 in the first
- 5:12Speaker 2: two games. This is the first two games of the
- 5:14Speaker 2: current season. Kula Bali is an upside target. Not a
- 5:18Speaker 2: guaranteed category winner, but he can help you win a
- 5:22Speaker 2: category if you time it just right because of the
- 5:25Speaker 2: defensive production and the rebound, and that comes with it
- 5:29Speaker 2: from a position that you wasn't even expecting. So Kula Bali,
- 5:34Speaker 2: Bilal Kula Bali from the Washington Wizards.
- 5:38Speaker 1: Remember the name. Look, I got him on the squad
- 5:43Speaker 1: right now.
- 5:44Speaker 2: I'm a points league guy, but I got him on
- 5:46Speaker 2: the squad right now, and I know I got the
- 5:48Speaker 2: fantasy points up there for the points league players. But look,
- 5:51Speaker 2: I'm talking to y'all. I'm tapped in to the category, guys. Look,
- 5:57Speaker 2: Alex Caruso, bro. Vet now at this point, great example
- 6:02Speaker 2: of why non-category fantasy ain't just about scoring. His value
- 6:07Speaker 2: also comes from steals, occasional blocks, the guard position.
- 6:11Speaker 1: Look at this. Look at the rebounding.
- 6:14Speaker 2: He's getting you five reps, three assists, one steal, a
- 6:21Speaker 2: half a block a game.
- 6:23Speaker 1: He's touching the game. A little bit of everywhere.
- 6:26Speaker 2: But the thing about Caruso, we know over the course
- 6:30Speaker 2: of his career, the body of work says we grab
- 6:33Speaker 2: Caruso for defensive production.
- 6:36Speaker 1: Don't play with it when you're looking for offense. Now,
- 6:38Speaker 1: he can give you that sometimes.
- 6:41Speaker 2: Not all the time. So you ain't grabbing him for that.
- 6:44Speaker 2: Hopefully you got your offensive situation figured out by the
- 6:47Speaker 2: time you go grab Caruso. And I get it. Things happen.
- 6:50Speaker 2: Injuries pop up. You know, rotations change.
- 6:53Speaker 1: There's always something that.
- 6:54Speaker 2: Pop up in the league to where we really don't
- 6:57Speaker 2: know how it's going to look. But this one, Caruso,
- 7:00Speaker 2: he's playing, you know, he getting minutes.
- 7:04Speaker 1: He's playing.
- 7:05Speaker 2: He's important to what OKC trying to do. And as
- 7:09Speaker 2: I said, steals, especially if you're targeting steals.
- 7:13Speaker 1: If he on your waiver wire and you need steals,
- 7:16Speaker 1: he don't need to be on your waiver wire no more.
- 7:18Speaker 1: He need to be your guy on your roster. But
- 7:23Speaker 1: Aside from the steals, you get some blocks.
- 7:25Speaker 2: The block numbers ain't crazy, but a half in two
- 7:28Speaker 2: games shows me he did.
- 7:29Speaker 1: Get one in one of those games. You know what
- 7:31Speaker 1: I mean?
- 7:32Speaker 2: Rebounded numbers are solid from the guard position, as well
- 7:36Speaker 2: as playmaking is solid.
- 7:38Speaker 1: From the guard position. He is, and I know he's
- 7:41Speaker 1: a guard. He posts the playmaker a little more than
- 7:43Speaker 1: the frontcourt, but that's neither here nor there.
- 7:45Speaker 2: He's a specialist, and you're grabbing him to be a specialist.
- 7:50Speaker 2: Don't overextend yourself when it comes to Alex Caruso. Next up,
- 7:56Speaker 2: Jaden McDaniels. Man, people been asking about should they drop
- 8:00Speaker 2: this guy? And I'm going to be honest, bro, I can't. Like,
- 8:04Speaker 2: I like when people say stuff, I always try to,
- 8:07Speaker 2: it's easy to say what, you know, how we can
- 8:10Speaker 2: be so thoughtful of other people, right? But my point
- 8:13Speaker 2: is when people ask about things, I try to see
- 8:16Speaker 2: it from their point of view. So when people are asking,
- 8:20Speaker 2: should they drop Jaden McDaniels? And I'm trying to think of, okay,
- 8:24Speaker 2: from their point of view, what are they seeing? And
- 8:27Speaker 2: I can't, I can't, I don't see it. I just,
- 8:31Speaker 2: I don't understand why, like unless an elite superstar's on.
- 8:37Speaker 1: Your waiver and you thinking about dropping Jaden McDaniels for him,
- 8:41Speaker 1: that's the only way it makes sense. Look at these numbers, bro.
- 8:45Speaker 2: 16 points, seven revs, two assists, a block and a half,
- 8:49Speaker 2: I mean, I'm sorry, a steal and a half, and
- 8:52Speaker 2: one block.
- 8:53Speaker 1: So he's a stock specialist as well.
- 8:56Speaker 2: Think about what type of contributions he going to have
- 8:59Speaker 2: this season now that LaMelo and Anthony going to take
- 9:02Speaker 2: the pressure off. Like, you talk about the Timberwolves from
- 9:06Speaker 2: last season. Outside of Anthony Edwards, and I know Julius
- 9:10Speaker 2: Randle is an all-star, but he's a forward.
- 9:13Speaker 1: Like, they didn't really have shot creatives.
- 9:17Speaker 2: By getting LaMelo, now you got a shot creator that
- 9:20Speaker 2: make people like Jaden Daniels more attractive because he's going
- 9:24Speaker 2: to get way easier looks. You look at his category appeal,
- 9:28Speaker 2: and think about it. He averaging 16. His true shooting
- 9:32Speaker 2: is just under 63%, and you looking for him for
- 9:37Speaker 2: steals and blocks.
- 9:38Speaker 1: So all the points, the offensive production, that's extra. That's bonus.
- 9:44Speaker 2: The conversation about dropping J. McDaniels don't make sense to me.
- 9:50Speaker 2: For my nine category players, if you got J. McDaniels,
- 9:54Speaker 2: unless you dangling them out there to improve your roster significantly,
- 9:58Speaker 2: you need to hold on.
- 9:59Speaker 3: Him.
- 10:00Speaker 2: Cause think, look at this, a steal and a half,
- 10:02Speaker 2: one block, that's sustainable over the course of the season.
- 10:05Speaker 2: And it's going to be difficult to replace if you lose.
- 10:09Speaker 2: So you getting 16 points on top of that, you
- 10:12Speaker 2: getting nice rebounding numbers on top of that. Understand what
- 10:16Speaker 2: you're getting with Jay McDaniels and understand what He need
- 10:19Speaker 2: to be on everybody's roster. He can't be on everybody's roster.
- 10:23Speaker 2: But understand, if you got him, he need to stay
- 10:26Speaker 2: on your roster.
- 10:28Speaker 1: Don't play, bro. Don't get cute.
- 10:29Speaker 2: We not here to get cute because y'all already know
- 10:31Speaker 2: we only here for one reason, and that's to get
- 10:35Speaker 2: a dub.
- 10:36Speaker 1: Come on. All right.
- 10:40Speaker 2: Cason Wallace, Alex Caruso's teammate. Now, I ain't going to
- 10:45Speaker 2: lie to you. Look, these all, look at them steal numbers, dog.
- 10:50Speaker 2: Look at them steal. For my points league guys, too,
- 10:51Speaker 2: look at them steal numbers, dog. Like, in my league,
- 10:55Speaker 2: there's 10 points.
- 10:57Speaker 1: You know what I mean?
- 10:58Speaker 2: You ain't even getting nothing crazy from the offensive side
- 11:00Speaker 2: of it. But he another one. He's not tired of scoring.
- 11:03Speaker 2: And like I said, this whole list was about not
- 11:05Speaker 2: having to score to get crazy numbers. Jay McDaniels is
- 11:08Speaker 2: actually one of the few exceptions. But look at Case
- 11:12Speaker 2: and Wilder's appeal, bro. I spoke about the steals. Look
- 11:16Speaker 2: at them steals. I'm going to keep saying it. Look
- 11:17Speaker 2: at them steals, dog.
- 11:19Speaker 1: Two and a half. You need help in those steals categories.
- 11:22Speaker 1: Here's your guy. Here's your guy. Now, I know the blocks.
- 11:26Speaker 1: We don't love that.
- 11:27Speaker 2: We don't love that. He ain't really offering much elsewhere.
- 11:31Speaker 2: But look, he don't need to dominate the basketball to
- 11:34Speaker 2: be valuable. His fantasy ceiling obviously depend on minutes, who
- 11:39Speaker 2: playing at night.
- 11:40Speaker 1: As you know, in this NBA, people in and out
- 11:42Speaker 1: the lineup. low management, it happens.
- 11:47Speaker 2: That's the world we live in at this point. This
- 11:48Speaker 2: is the NBA that we're accustomed to now. But look
- 11:51Speaker 2: at Case and Wallace, bro. This is why you got
- 11:54Speaker 2: to evaluate consistency. This is why you really have to
- 11:58Speaker 2: break down the numbers. Because even them 21 fantasy points
- 12:01Speaker 2: to me, and I'm looking at his numbers over the
- 12:04Speaker 2: two games, and I'm seeing he getting.
- 12:06Speaker 1: 21, he's a streamer to me. You know what I mean?
- 12:09Speaker 2: Because with the right night, the right matchup, with the
- 12:12Speaker 2: right minutes, Kacen Wallace is going to be hard to
- 12:15Speaker 2: let go. He going to be hard to get to
- 12:18Speaker 2: because somebody ain't going to be asleep because they're going
- 12:19Speaker 2: to look at this and they're going to see that
- 12:21Speaker 2: Kacen Wallace is real valuable aside from the scoring.
- 12:25Speaker 1: So don't play with it. Don't play with it. Don't
- 12:28Speaker 1: get it twisted. I'm going to keep saying it. Don't
- 12:30Speaker 1: get cute, bro. Tumani Kamara.
- 12:35Speaker 2: I'm going to be honest. Look, it's a glue guy.
- 12:39Speaker 2: It's a glue guy's glue guy. He's the kind of
- 12:43Speaker 2: player that can help you do everything.
- 12:46Speaker 1: Look at that. His rebounding ain't really crazy. But I
- 12:50Speaker 1: don't think that's really going to be his rebounding numbers
- 12:52Speaker 1: for the season. I think he's going to be upwards
- 12:54Speaker 1: of about seven. I don't know about double figures unless
- 12:58Speaker 1: the minutes support it.
- 13:00Speaker 2: But look at his fantasy production over the season. 18
- 13:03Speaker 2: and a half, two and a half rebounds, two assists.
- 13:06Speaker 2: He shoot the three ball. You know what I mean?
- 13:08Speaker 2: He can knock it down. I wouldn't say shoot it,
- 13:11Speaker 2: but he can knock it down. One steal, no blocks.
- 13:14Speaker 2: I expect that to change. But here's a guy who
- 13:17Speaker 2: can give you contributions from, you know what I mean,
- 13:21Speaker 2: just aside from scoring. I don't think that 18 and
- 13:23Speaker 2: a half is sustainable over the season with the current
- 13:26Speaker 2: roster construction that's up there in Portland.
- 13:29Speaker 1: But you think about it.
- 13:30Speaker 2: By the time, if you getting Kamar, hopefully, as I've
- 13:35Speaker 2: been saying, your scoring is already taken care of. You've
- 13:38Speaker 2: already done what you needed to do to address the scoring.
- 13:41Speaker 2: So you're not grabbing him to be a high-volume scorer.
- 13:44Speaker 2: You're grabbing him to do the other thing. I know
- 13:47Speaker 2: Shaq always speak about the others. The others do the
- 13:51Speaker 2: dirty work. And this is what you're looking for in
- 13:53Speaker 2: a guy like Kamara. You're looking for somebody to do
- 13:56Speaker 2: the dirty work. Like I said, he can get you steals.
- 13:59Speaker 2: He's averaging a steal a game here. Look at that
- 14:01Speaker 2: true shooting percentage. Look at that.
- 14:05Speaker 1: 84.6, bro.
- 14:06Speaker 2: He helping y'all in them field goal categories as well.
- 14:10Speaker 2: Don't get that twisted. Like I say, I don't expect
- 14:13Speaker 2: that two and a half rebounds. I don't expect that
- 14:15Speaker 2: to be the same. I don't think that's going to
- 14:17Speaker 2: be the.
- 14:18Speaker 1: Case all season. We are still really early in the season.
- 14:21Speaker 1: Don't panic. Don't overreact or nothing.
- 14:23Speaker 2: You ain't got to make a move just because somebody
- 14:25Speaker 2: don't look the way you thought they would look immediately.
- 14:28Speaker 2: Sometimes things take time. And if it's worth the wait,
- 14:31Speaker 2: it's worth it. And if it's worth the wait, it's
- 14:33Speaker 2: probably going to work out better for you. Look, a
- 14:35Speaker 2: player that make threes, can rebound, get you some steals,
- 14:39Speaker 2: get you an occasional block, got a high true shooting percentage,
- 14:42Speaker 2: got a high field goal percentage. He's the type of player,
- 14:45Speaker 2: complimentary player, that's going to increase the value of your
- 14:49Speaker 2: roster for these category leagues because he offers you so
- 14:52Speaker 2: much in so many different categories. So don't sleep on
- 14:56Speaker 2: two-minded Kamara. Threes and steals and rebounds is his main thing,
- 15:00Speaker 2: but he look like he can help you a little
- 15:01Speaker 2: bit everywhere. All right, last but not least, old man River.
- 15:07Speaker 2: I call everybody that who vets. It ain't to be dismissive.
- 15:11Speaker 2: It's just I think it's respectable that you can be
- 15:14Speaker 2: in a league for a long time and still continue
- 15:17Speaker 2: to get work because you know how to offer value.
- 15:21Speaker 2: That's one thing about Purtle that I think can make
- 15:24Speaker 2: you a better category manager.
- 15:27Speaker 1: Look at this.
- 15:28Speaker 2: Four and a half points, right? A little light, but again,
- 15:31Speaker 2: At these points, this whole episode is about people that
- 15:35Speaker 2: you not looking for scoring. So we ain't tripping on
- 15:37Speaker 2: the four and a half. But look at this rebound numbers.
- 15:40Speaker 2: I love that. Seven and a half rebounds. Because you
- 15:43Speaker 2: know he doing this in limited minutes. He doing this
- 15:46Speaker 2: in 20 minutes or less, maybe.
- 15:48Speaker 1: You know what I mean? I don't have the minutes
- 15:49Speaker 1: in front of me. That's my B. But I got
- 15:54Speaker 1: enough for you to make sure you make sure of
- 15:56Speaker 1: making a form decision. One assist, one steal. One block.
- 16:01Speaker 2: True shooting percent is 72%. And what I like about this,
- 16:05Speaker 2: one steal, one block. He's a sneaky stock specialist. Stock
- 16:09Speaker 2: category guy. If you need help in them stocks, Yaka
- 16:13Speaker 2: Purtle of the Toronto Raptors can help you.
- 16:16Speaker 1: And this is actually the epitome of why.
- 16:19Speaker 2: Scoring averages don't tell the whole story when it comes
- 16:22Speaker 2: to non-category players.
- 16:23Speaker 1: Because look, he giving you value everywhere. Everywhere.
- 16:29Speaker 2: Field goal percentage. Rebounds, the assists you ain't, we ain't
- 16:34Speaker 2: getting Purtle for assists.
- 16:36Speaker 1: Steals, blocks. Rebounds, steals, blocks, field goal percentage. That's four.
- 16:44Speaker 2: That's four categories that Yaka Purtle is helping you get
- 16:49Speaker 2: a dub in.
- 16:50Speaker 1: Because you know why we here. To get a dub.
- 16:54Speaker 1: Don't get it twisted, man.
- 16:55Speaker 2: Don't sleep on the name, especially if it's names that
- 16:58Speaker 2: you ain't really in love with her, you don't think
- 17:00Speaker 2: it's sexy, we don't care about that. We don't, we ain't, look,
- 17:04Speaker 2: because as you, as I always tell everybody, as I've
- 17:07Speaker 2: always told all the believers out there, it's numbers over narratives, baby.
- 17:13Speaker 2: Numbers over narratives. We don't care about your reputation. Can
- 17:16Speaker 2: you help us get a dub? Yaka Purtle can help
- 17:20Speaker 2: you get a dub. Look, that's been a wrap on
- 17:23Speaker 2: this episode.
