- 0:55Speaker 4: fun Fou and they all went the whizz, So yes too,
- 0:58Speaker 4: Ben fun did you expect it's a podcast twenty five way.
- 1:03Speaker 2: So swimming wine? Everybody? All right? Blow it? God? Was
- 1:09Speaker 2: that loud? Is that loud?
- 1:10Speaker 4: Well?
- 1:11Speaker 2: I just want to say this.
- 1:12Speaker 1: We usually do this show late Thursday afternoon, and we
- 1:16Speaker 1: may have an interview on Friday, so we'll do the show.
- 1:18Speaker 1: Sometimes we'll finish it on Friday. We were doing this
- 1:21Speaker 1: show before we do the Friday morning radio show. It
- 1:24Speaker 1: was so it's early, way early, and that was even
- 1:28Speaker 1: louder because it's so early.
- 1:30Speaker 5: You know what's crazy is that when I was a lifeguard,
- 1:33Speaker 5: I learned how to really blow a whistle.
- 1:35Speaker 2: And you have so much energy right now and it's
- 1:37Speaker 2: so early in the morning.
- 1:38Speaker 5: Maybe that's why I respect it, but holy crap. Yeah,
- 1:42Speaker 5: So like you can easily blow a whistle, like very softly.
- 1:45Speaker 5: But I think since I was a lifeguard, man, I
- 1:47Speaker 5: blow it fool.
- 1:48Speaker 1: Yeah, but you've not blown it as full before. I'm
- 1:51Speaker 1: gonna be honest, not true it is.
- 1:53Speaker 2: I always blow it fool. That's not your reputation.
- 1:56Speaker 1: Uh so, hello, this is the earliest we have ever
- 1:58Speaker 1: done this show in the history of the show. But
- 2:00Speaker 1: that's okay. We have a lot to talk about. I
- 2:02Speaker 1: do want to start with college football and the NFL.
- 2:04Speaker 1: They voted on very similar things. One voted in a
- 2:07Speaker 1: way that I like, one voted in a way I
- 2:09Speaker 1: didn't like. Now, NFL went to the vote and they
- 2:12Speaker 1: voted on a lot of stuff, but they voted on playoffs.
- 2:15Speaker 1: So the NFC South has always been a pretty weak division,
- 2:18Speaker 1: or not always been the last five or six years.
- 2:20Speaker 1: And whoever wins the NFC South or even the AFC South, they.
- 2:25Speaker 2: Get an automatic four seed.
- 2:28Speaker 1: Usually, yeah, they definitely aren't getting the buy, but they're
- 2:31Speaker 1: automatically they get a home game. The NFL voted to
- 2:35Speaker 1: re kind of recede and by record, the top teams
- 2:40Speaker 1: would get the home games.
- 2:41Speaker 2: No matter if you win your division.
- 2:43Speaker 1: Yeah, so if like you were eight and nine and
- 2:47Speaker 1: eight to nine Tampa team who won the NFC South,
- 2:50Speaker 1: you wouldn't go in as the four seed and get
- 2:52Speaker 1: a home game because you were freaking eight and nine.
- 2:54Speaker 2: Love it. They voted noted that so that they're keeping
- 2:57Speaker 2: the old style. Okay, don't love it?
- 2:58Speaker 5: Well, I mean, you know, if your team is in
- 3:03Speaker 5: that division, I get it, Like cool. You win the division,
- 3:06Speaker 5: even though your division is terrible, you get in the playoffs.
- 3:08Speaker 2: Good for you.
- 3:09Speaker 1: It is weird when a nine and eight team gets
- 3:12Speaker 1: in over an eleven and sixteen because the nine and
- 3:17Speaker 1: eight team played in a terrible division, right, I understand
- 3:20Speaker 1: why the owners voted to keep it the same.
- 3:23Speaker 2: I actually kind of like it.
- 3:25Speaker 1: You win your division, you get one of the top
- 3:27Speaker 1: four seeds, you get a home game. It's like when
- 3:29Speaker 1: your division get a home game in the playoffs. I
- 3:31Speaker 1: don't mind it. Does it feel a little clunky, yes,
- 3:35Speaker 1: but okay, I'm with it.
- 3:36Speaker 2: They did vote down the touschbush.
- 3:38Speaker 1: No, no, they voted and no, get this though, that's
- 3:40Speaker 1: what I wanted to They voted to continue.
- 3:44Speaker 2: Continue, We're good barely. It'll be dead next year. Oh why?
- 3:47Speaker 2: But what I was going to say was they voted.
- 3:49Speaker 1: The NFL got green Bay to go in and be
- 3:52Speaker 1: the one to say, please say you don't like the touchbush.
- 3:55Speaker 5: Really they told them they so? Was it not green
- 3:57Speaker 5: based green Bay's decision to do that.
- 4:00Speaker 1: I'm gonna read you this, Oh man, this is hilarious
- 4:02Speaker 1: because I made fun of the Packers so much for
- 4:04Speaker 1: being the team that raised their hand and like, we
- 4:06Speaker 1: don't like the tush push where it hurts. I remember this,
- 4:11Speaker 1: so now that the Eagles get to keep the toush push.
- 4:14Speaker 1: This is from Pro Football Talk and Mike Florio. Mike
- 4:19Speaker 1: Florio said that the league quote asked the Packers to
- 4:22Speaker 1: do it, and the Packers took one for the team.
- 4:24Speaker 6: Dang.
- 4:25Speaker 2: A source claims that most in Green.
- 4:27Speaker 1: Bay's organization don't care about to play either way, but
- 4:30Speaker 1: it left the team appearing to have sour grapes after
- 4:32Speaker 1: losing to the Eagles twice last season. So for whatever reason,
- 4:36Speaker 1: the NFL wanted to play gone but decided that someone
- 4:39Speaker 1: else should own the decision to raise the issue.
- 4:41Speaker 2: That's hilarious. I did two whole episodes of like calling
- 4:43Speaker 2: them ole weenie babies. Oh it hurts when Jalen does that.
- 4:49Speaker 2: We're even like, dang, out of all the teams, you're
- 4:51Speaker 2: gonna Beckers.
- 4:52Speaker 1: They play in cold weather that's supposed to be a hardcore,
- 4:55Speaker 1: So toush push remains that the Packers had to be
- 4:58Speaker 1: the Wieners.
- 4:59Speaker 2: Dang. And I don't know who to believe anymore now. Well,
- 5:01Speaker 2: and they.
- 5:02Speaker 1: Almost lost Next year, I think they'll lose so many
- 5:06Speaker 1: teams just don't care. They don't play the Eagles. AFC
- 5:09Speaker 1: teams don't play the Eagles. They released a list of
- 5:11Speaker 1: teams that voted for and against it.
- 5:13Speaker 2: Really yeah, and I don't.
- 5:14Speaker 1: Have the list with me, but like the Titans, they
- 5:17Speaker 1: didn't vote against it.
- 5:17Speaker 2: They don't do it. They don't play the Eagle.
- 5:19Speaker 5: Right, they don't play the Eagles. I mean, and that's
- 5:21Speaker 5: the thing too, right, like not everyone does it. It's
- 5:24Speaker 5: really just the Eagles.
- 5:25Speaker 2: Yeah, but it's mostly playing against it more than just
- 5:27Speaker 2: doing it.
- 5:28Speaker 5: Sure, but I mean, now that we've passed it, the
- 5:30Speaker 5: only team that really advance has the advantage here is
- 5:33Speaker 5: the Eagles. The rest of the NFL really doesn't because
- 5:35Speaker 5: they don't.
- 5:36Speaker 1: Do it like Baltimore does it with Mark Andrews. They
- 5:39Speaker 1: try to do it, yeah, but they do so there
- 5:42Speaker 1: are a few teams that do it. Otherwise it's just
- 5:45Speaker 1: called a quarterback sneak, right, The touchbush is just with
- 5:49Speaker 1: a little hot sauce on the quarterback. Or it's like
- 5:53Speaker 1: when Mark Andrews does it, he comes in motion, they're
- 5:56Speaker 1: in shotgun formation, he gets under center and then goes
- 5:58Speaker 1: That's probably if I were a team the way I
- 6:00Speaker 1: would do it instead of getting my quarterback hurt. But
- 6:02Speaker 1: Jalen Hurts is so freaking strong. Squad's nine hundred pounds
- 6:05Speaker 1: like a truck.
- 6:05Speaker 2: Yeah. So, and then there were rumors that came out.
- 6:09Speaker 1: That Jason Kelsey got hurt and retired because of the touchbush.
- 6:14Speaker 1: Really that he didn't say that because he didn't want
- 6:16Speaker 1: to hurt the Eagles organization for doing it, but that
- 6:18Speaker 1: that's one of the reasons he retired, is that he
- 6:20Speaker 1: tush pushed so many times.
- 6:21Speaker 2: And then he came out and.
- 6:22Speaker 1: Said, I'd get back in the league if I could
- 6:23Speaker 1: just do six hundred touch bushes.
- 6:25Speaker 2: So again, who do you believe?
- 6:26Speaker 6: That?
- 6:26Speaker 5: Sounds so funny? But yeah, I mean he was the
- 6:29Speaker 5: he was the first dude. He was the main guy
- 6:31Speaker 5: of the touch push.
- 6:31Speaker 1: He was and we think it's Jalen who's probably really
- 6:34Speaker 1: the main guy, but he is, yeah, the center leader
- 6:37Speaker 1: of it.
- 6:37Speaker 5: Doesn't have a name for the most part. Uh so
- 6:41Speaker 5: is he the most famous center that we know? Like
- 6:44Speaker 5: I don't know another center? I mean I probably do.
- 6:47Speaker 1: But probably and for two reasons, one recency and two.
- 6:51Speaker 2: Because Taylor Swift right and Travis. But that's why Taylor
- 6:56Speaker 2: would Travis.
- 6:57Speaker 1: Travis would because I think people outside of football wouldn't
- 7:00Speaker 1: have even known Travis really unless you're a If you're
- 7:05Speaker 1: a football fan, you knew Travis Kelcey. But if you
- 7:07Speaker 1: were just a casual you probably didn't know Travis Kelcey,
- 7:10Speaker 1: not at all really, And so if you didn't know Travis,
- 7:13Speaker 1: you didn't know Jason Kelcey. They played against each other
- 7:15Speaker 1: in the Super Bowl, which was really what made their
- 7:17Speaker 1: podcast pop at very first. But again, to even listen
- 7:21Speaker 1: to their podcast at first, you had to be a
- 7:23Speaker 1: big NFL fan because they didn't have massive pial because
- 7:27Speaker 1: of Taylor. Taylor is why Jason Kelcey and his wife
- 7:29Speaker 1: are so famous. Not that they're not talented, but Taylor
- 7:32Speaker 1: is why all the Kelseys have this massive career. They
- 7:36Speaker 1: deserve it because they're really good. She can give them
- 7:38Speaker 1: an opportunity, but she can't create their talent and their
- 7:43Speaker 1: sustainability which they have. And I think she may be
- 7:46Speaker 1: the most not Taylor, Jason Kelsey's wife, maybe the most
- 7:48Speaker 1: talent of them all.
- 7:49Speaker 2: Yeah, she's funny.
- 7:51Speaker 1: So Kylie Kelsey, right, Kylie, Yeah, So okay. NFL said
- 7:56Speaker 1: no change to the playoffs. NFL said keep the touch
- 7:59Speaker 1: push so everything stand the same. College football, they are
- 8:03Speaker 1: changing their playoff format, still doing twelve yes, but and
- 8:08Speaker 1: they did the right thing. They said, we're not just
- 8:11Speaker 1: giving the conference champions the buys. We are going to
- 8:15Speaker 1: seed them as is because you saw last year Boise Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 8:21Speaker 1: get a.
- 8:21Speaker 2: Bye and then get ran. So this is from ESPN.
- 8:26Speaker 1: After some much deserved first year criticism, the college football
- 8:29Speaker 1: playoff seeding system has changed. The fall of CFP will
- 8:33Speaker 1: switch to straight seating as opposed to given the top
- 8:37Speaker 1: four seeds to the four highest ranked conference champions as
- 8:40Speaker 1: it was done last year. ACC Commissioner Jim Phillips acknowledged
- 8:44Speaker 1: there's a responsibility to serve our constituents while also being
- 8:48Speaker 1: mindful of what's best for college football. Philip said the
- 8:51Speaker 1: decision was made in the best interest of the sports,
- 8:53Speaker 1: even though it may not always benefit the ACC. Oh yeah, no,
- 8:57Speaker 1: it is not going to benefit the AACC. It's going
- 8:59Speaker 1: to benefit it's the ACC. The absolute worst other than
- 9:03Speaker 1: a non power five that gets in because you're going
- 9:07Speaker 1: to see two or three SEC teams be in that
- 9:10Speaker 1: top three. You're going to see now there's only four spots.
- 9:13Speaker 2: I get it.
- 9:13Speaker 1: But you're gonna see two big ten teams be in it,
- 9:18Speaker 1: possibly a big twelve team be in it.
- 9:21Speaker 2: I know that's six spots, but I think that'll that'll
- 9:23Speaker 2: move a little bit. Unless an ACC team goes eleven
- 9:28Speaker 2: and one twelve to zero.
- 9:30Speaker 1: ACC doesn't get a spot, and neither does the non
- 9:35Speaker 1: Power five school Wow, even going undefeated. Wow, it's gonna
- 9:39Speaker 1: be really tough for that to happen. But I agree
- 9:41Speaker 1: with that because what we saw, we saw a couple
- 9:44Speaker 1: of really good first round games, and they got to
- 9:47Speaker 1: that second round game where the game should be better,
- 9:48Speaker 1: and then one hundred and nothing.
- 9:50Speaker 2: Yep, just terrible games.
- 9:51Speaker 5: And then those those like Boise State had to buy
- 9:54Speaker 5: right like they had a first week by they did.
- 9:56Speaker 2: Yeah, that's what I just said, like fifteenth thing and
- 9:58Speaker 2: it's early, man, it is early. But okay, so that bye, Yeah, Okay,
- 10:01Speaker 2: I see what you're saying. Got it. Carry on.
- 10:03Speaker 1: So teams like Boy you say, will no longer get
- 10:05Speaker 1: to buy if they're not thought of as one of
- 10:07Speaker 1: the biggest four teams. They'll play one of the first
- 10:09Speaker 1: round games because somebody will come out of the non
- 10:12Speaker 1: Power five schools every year and they will not get
- 10:14Speaker 1: a buy unless they go undefeated and play two i'll
- 10:17Speaker 1: say two Power five schools that are ranked schools, they
- 10:22Speaker 1: will not even be considered for the buye. So I
- 10:25Speaker 1: think the NFL is different because those teams are like
- 10:28Speaker 1: we'll say eight and nine. We'll use a bad Tampa
- 10:31Speaker 1: Bay team that wins the NFC South if they win
- 10:35Speaker 1: their division. We've seen that team actually win in the playoffs. Sure,
- 10:39Speaker 1: because the NFL there's so much parody. Yep, not near
- 10:42Speaker 1: as much parody in college, although there's becoming a little
- 10:44Speaker 1: more now the NIL exists and the transfer portal, but
- 10:48Speaker 1: it is definitely different. But those were the big changes
- 10:52Speaker 1: that we've seen so far. So you like the college change,
- 10:55Speaker 1: I do.
- 10:56Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 10:57Speaker 1: I wish they would have outlawed the toush push. I
- 10:59Speaker 1: hate it. It's not fun. I don't care about the
- 11:01Speaker 1: It's unfair. Well, okay, what's fair some players some teams
- 11:05Speaker 1: have bigger players than others. That's not somewhere faster than
- 11:07Speaker 1: were they run faster.
- 11:10Speaker 2: Some have more money than others. It ain't fair.
- 11:12Speaker 1: But it's just boring, and so I think that's why
- 11:15Speaker 1: the NFL wanted it to die, just for entertainment value.
- 11:17Speaker 1: Because the NFL knows their television show and it will die,
- 11:21Speaker 1: just not this year. Or what's gonna happen is they're
- 11:24Speaker 1: gonna wait for one person to get injured.
- 11:27Speaker 2: And then go in these meetings and go.
- 11:29Speaker 1: We cannot continue this because people are getting injured doing it.
- 11:32Speaker 2: So the Eagles have to.
- 11:33Speaker 1: Like how quarterbacks would come out and act like they
- 11:36Speaker 1: didn't have concussions, they'd learn how to answer the questions even.
- 11:41Speaker 2: If they had a concussion so they could stay in
- 11:43Speaker 2: the game.
- 11:44Speaker 1: The tush push gays when they get injured, they're gonna
- 11:46Speaker 1: have to blame it on something else realway.
- 11:47Speaker 2: Dehydration, Yeah, got dehydrated and they have to get into
- 11:52Speaker 2: ten and get their leg wrapped up.
- 11:53Speaker 1: Yeah. Shay won the MVP a couple of days ago.
- 11:57Speaker 1: What was cool though, He bought all his teammates rolexes
- 11:59Speaker 1: after the win.
- 12:00Speaker 2: Dang, that's so cool.
- 12:02Speaker 1: When an NBA player wins the MVP, the entire team wins,
- 12:05Speaker 1: especially it's from barstool after Shay wins, because he got
- 12:09Speaker 1: everybody rolllexes as a thank you. They were awesome. They
- 12:12Speaker 1: were all Most of them are like blue or silver
- 12:15Speaker 1: KC colors. They won again last night.
- 12:17Speaker 2: Yeah they did. I'm feeling good. I watched the first
- 12:21Speaker 2: half before I fell asleep. Oh you fell asleep?
- 12:24Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, I don't have interest for game two
- 12:26Speaker 1: of that. The Western games they're late, dude, I get it.
- 12:29Speaker 5: They're later than the Eastern games, maybe even an out
- 12:33Speaker 5: by just an hour.
- 12:33Speaker 2: But still I felt like I could have gotted it out.
- 12:36Speaker 2: It was close.
- 12:37Speaker 1: At halftime it was yeah, it was close, and I
- 12:40Speaker 1: was like, oh, man, I may not be able to
- 12:41Speaker 1: cover here to the seven and a half they did cover, Yes,
- 12:44Speaker 1: but oklahom State.
- 12:45Speaker 2: Looks really good. They do.
- 12:46Speaker 1: Man. Now they got to go to Minnesota. I do
- 12:47Speaker 1: think Minnesota picks up one of the next couple of.
- 12:49Speaker 2: Games, right, Yeah, I think I think so.
- 12:51Speaker 5: I mean, I joke around that's going to be four
- 12:52Speaker 5: and out, But I think Minnesota wins one somewhere in there.
- 12:56Speaker 5: Probably one of these two, I would say, mate, I
- 12:58Speaker 5: think ideally it would be this next one.
- 13:00Speaker 1: I think the NBA really needs Anthony Edwards to not
- 13:02Speaker 1: be embarrassed, and a four to zer sweep is embarrassing.
- 13:06Speaker 1: That is embarrassing the league's arguably biggest star. It's not
- 13:11Speaker 1: Lebron or Steph or Katie like arguably the biggest current
- 13:16Speaker 1: ver slash next star.
- 13:18Speaker 5: I mean, is this MVP raise Shay over Anthony Edwards
- 13:22Speaker 5: a little bit?
- 13:23Speaker 2: No, sh should have won the MVP. Yokis should have
- 13:26Speaker 2: won the MVP.
- 13:26Speaker 1: But Yokich has a bit of Bill Belichick, Angela and
- 13:29Speaker 1: Jolie Bobby Bone Show syndrome when you win everything, nobody
- 13:32Speaker 1: wants you to win everything, and so then you're held
- 13:34Speaker 1: out forever and then you start to get pissed off.
- 13:36Speaker 2: Yoki should have been the MVP. Shaye had an awesome season, like.
- 13:43Speaker 1: Really one of the best point guard type seasons in
- 13:47Speaker 1: the last five to seven years. And I say that
- 13:50Speaker 1: because I just watched a whole that I would quote
- 13:52Speaker 1: it and source it, but I don't know what I watched.
- 13:55Speaker 1: But Yokis had a better season, so uh yeah, pretty cool.
- 14:00Speaker 1: I like this under a lot. I'm glad Shaye won it,
- 14:02Speaker 1: but man, Shaye's foul unts too much?
- 14:04Speaker 2: Yeah he does.
- 14:07Speaker 5: I mean, I think what's gonna win it for OKC
- 14:08Speaker 5: is their defense. They're defensively so good. Dude, Caruso is aol.
- 14:13Speaker 2: What is happening? He came off the bench, only watched
- 14:15Speaker 2: the first half. He came off the bench. Oh, he
- 14:16Speaker 2: kept it going. He kept it going.
- 14:17Speaker 1: Yeah, played like thirteen minutes. He had seven points when
- 14:21Speaker 1: I turned it off.
- 14:21Speaker 2: But he he played defense on Jokic in the last series.
- 14:26Speaker 1: Yeah, Caruso basically a number two or a small number three.
- 14:29Speaker 2: Yep. Funny looking dude headband on a bald head for
- 14:33Speaker 2: a white dude. Love it, Yeah, I love every bit
- 14:35Speaker 2: of it. Crazy.
- 14:37Speaker 1: One other story here for a second. Jim Marsiy died.
- 14:40Speaker 1: He is the Colts owner. This is a couple of
- 14:41Speaker 1: days ago. Yeah, and Jim Marseiy lots of stories about him, good, bad,
- 14:46Speaker 1: indifferent and how he owned that team and this so
- 14:51Speaker 1: much isn't about that. But I will do a little
- 14:52Speaker 1: official paragraph before I talk about something I found really interesting.
- 14:55Speaker 1: The longtime owner of the Indianapolis Colts has died. The
- 14:58Speaker 1: team announced on Wednesday, So it's Friday now. It's been
- 15:00Speaker 1: a couple of days. I passed away peacefully in his
- 15:03Speaker 1: sleep in the afternoon. The billionaire inherited the Colt from
- 15:07Speaker 1: his father, who bought the team when they were still
- 15:09Speaker 1: based in Baltimore and moved them to Indianapolis, and the
- 15:11Speaker 1: organization went on to win a Super Bowl two thousand
- 15:13Speaker 1: and seven with Peyton Manning at quarterback. Then he goes
- 15:15Speaker 1: to a lot of stuff that's from TMZ Sports Huge music, right, Well,
- 15:20Speaker 1: so then that's what I want to get to. He
- 15:21Speaker 1: had a museum that traveled like he moved it around,
- 15:26Speaker 1: and he had spent I think in two thousand and two,
- 15:28Speaker 1: nine hundred thousand dollars on the Jerry Garcia guitar that.
- 15:34Speaker 2: Was Grateful Dead.
- 15:36Speaker 1: By the way, I think the one that he had
- 15:39Speaker 1: had a monkey on it. Well you look it up, Mike,
- 15:42Speaker 1: like a picture of a monkey on the guitar. So
- 15:43Speaker 1: Jerry Garcia had like seven guitars and all of them
- 15:45Speaker 1: were specifically lightning bolt, monkey, donkey.
- 15:50Speaker 2: Those aren't right, but they it was a tiger, Okay,
- 15:53Speaker 2: the Tiger guitar.
- 15:54Speaker 1: And if you don't mind pulling up all the Jerry
- 15:56Speaker 1: Garcia because he has like seven, but the Tiger was
- 15:59Speaker 1: the most played rightful Dead guitar really and he had
- 16:03Speaker 1: it and again didn't pay a million bucks for it
- 16:05Speaker 1: back in I think two or seven one of those years.
- 16:08Speaker 1: But now it's worth like seven eight million dollars. But
- 16:10Speaker 1: that was like his most prized possession.
- 16:12Speaker 2: That's amazing.
- 16:12Speaker 1: And he had his museum was robust with music history. Yeah,
- 16:16Speaker 1: when you have billions of dollars and you love music,
- 16:19Speaker 1: Like I don't have billions of dollars, but I have
- 16:20Speaker 1: a decent amount of money now and.
- 16:21Speaker 2: I love sports. Neverabilia. I got a bunch of cold crape.
- 16:24Speaker 2: Imagine that on steroids. You'd buy everything. So you see
- 16:29Speaker 2: anything else about it, Mike, That's all I'm seeing. But yeah,
- 16:31Speaker 2: he had different animals, alligator, a wolf, Jerry Garcia, not
- 16:35Speaker 2: Jo guitars.
- 16:36Speaker 5: Yeah, the guitars that his his little museum came to Nashville.
- 16:41Speaker 2: I don't know, maybe like five years ago. Did you go?
- 16:43Speaker 1: No?
- 16:44Speaker 5: I got invited to go, and I just didn't go.
- 16:45Speaker 5: Because our friend Jeff Gorman, who used.
- 16:48Speaker 2: To have a sports show.
- 16:48Speaker 5: He he does media relations now for the Colts, loved Jim Irsay.
- 16:53Speaker 5: He even tweeted the other day that said it's pretty
- 16:58Speaker 5: it was pretty cool.
- 16:58Speaker 2: He was really close to him.
- 17:00Speaker 5: He says, I can't find it, but he said something like,
- 17:03Speaker 5: whatever you heard about Jim, his kindness, his sweetness, whatever,
- 17:06Speaker 5: how how awesome he was multiply times a thousand, Like
- 17:10Speaker 5: he really loved Jim Mersey, and he traveled everywhere with
- 17:13Speaker 5: Jim irsay, so he had lots of really so he's
- 17:16Speaker 5: really close.
- 17:17Speaker 2: So we're gonna come back in a second. Hey, what'd
- 17:20Speaker 2: you think of this interview with because it's the first
- 17:23Speaker 2: time huh.
- 17:24Speaker 5: Aaron Rodgers Dot richards Oh gotcha, I thought you were
- 17:27Speaker 5: talking about Aaron Rodgers.
- 17:28Speaker 2: No on Joe Rogan. Yes, I didn't listen to it.
- 17:31Speaker 2: I'll watched him CLOBs and I was like, Eh.
- 17:33Speaker 1: This guy, Eh yeah, no, okay, goohd what'd you think
- 17:38Speaker 1: the interview with dot Richardson is awesome?
- 17:39Speaker 2: Dude?
- 17:40Speaker 5: I mean I feel I felt bad she didn't have
- 17:42Speaker 5: her she lost her voice, but hey, she's in the
- 17:43Speaker 5: middle of important games right now.
- 17:45Speaker 2: Didn't have a voice, But she's dude.
- 17:47Speaker 5: She makes me want to play softball and play softball
- 17:49Speaker 5: for her.
- 17:50Speaker 2: So we haven't except for maybe years ago.
- 17:54Speaker 1: We had Patty Gaso on and who has won multiple
- 17:57Speaker 1: national championships at Oklahoma, and I don't even think that
- 17:59Speaker 1: was for this show. Oh right, on this show. I
- 18:02Speaker 1: don't think we've ever had a softball coach on. I
- 18:05Speaker 1: can't remember so, and I think I would be like, oh,
- 18:08Speaker 1: a softball coach if I'm just a regular listener.
- 18:10Speaker 2: However, she's awesome. Yeah, she's a medical doctor too.
- 18:15Speaker 4: Yo.
- 18:16Speaker 2: That's all I'm gonna say. Give it a shot. I
- 18:18Speaker 2: think people will love this.
- 18:19Speaker 1: I think people will love this interview too. Give it
- 18:21Speaker 1: a shot. Coach Dot Richardson, Liberty, head coach University, who
- 18:27Speaker 1: just beat Texas A and M and Texas M was
- 18:29Speaker 1: an overall number one seat. That has never happened in
- 18:31Speaker 1: the history of the tournament where the number one overall
- 18:33Speaker 1: seat did not come out of the first round. Liberty
- 18:35Speaker 1: did it. But it's not even about that. I think
- 18:36Speaker 1: you're going to love the interview. We'll do that coming
- 18:38Speaker 1: up next. The NBA Playoffs are underway and it's wild.

- 19:46Speaker 1: We're about to have coach dot Richardson on we don't
- 19:51Speaker 1: have a lot of softball coaches on. If I'm being honest,
- 19:53Speaker 1: I think we had coach Gasso Patty Gasso on once
- 19:57Speaker 1: She's won four national championships in a row, but I'll
- 20:00Speaker 1: a little bit about coach Dot Richardson. She's actually a
- 20:02Speaker 1: medical doctor as well, which is crazy because after she
- 20:08Speaker 1: had finished playing ball and she's in like the UCLA
- 20:12Speaker 1: Athletics Hall of Fame, she's in the USA Softball Hall
- 20:15Speaker 1: of Fame. She then went and got a master's and
- 20:18Speaker 1: then she got her medical degree from the University of Louisville.
- 20:22Speaker 2: So she's a coach, she's a doctor.
- 20:24Speaker 1: She's kind of the most interesting per not a man,
- 20:27Speaker 1: but you know, the most interesting man.
- 20:28Speaker 2: In the first in the world.
- 20:31Speaker 1: She's won two Olympic gold medals, the first time ever.
- 20:34Speaker 1: That the first ever gold medal in softball.
- 20:37Speaker 2: She wanted. She hit the home run. It won the game.
- 20:39Speaker 1: I think even if you're like softball, I think you're
- 20:42Speaker 1: just gonna love this interview with coach Richardson.
- 20:45Speaker 2: She's the head coach at Liberty.
- 20:46Speaker 1: They last week beat Texas A and m Texas ANAM
- 20:48Speaker 1: was the number one overall seed and the number one
- 20:50Speaker 1: overall seed has never not got out of the regionals
- 20:53Speaker 1: and Liberty took them down for the first time ever
- 20:54Speaker 1: a team not number one is going to super Regionals.
- 20:57Speaker 2: So did you watch the game?
- 20:58Speaker 1: I watched all three of them because there are four games. Yeah,
- 21:02Speaker 1: four teams. I watched all three of the games, and
- 21:05Speaker 1: so I reached out and was like, hey, and they
- 21:07Speaker 1: had to fly from Liberty University.
- 21:10Speaker 2: Is that Virginia? Yeah? Wow, across the whole count to Eugene, Oregon.
- 21:14Speaker 2: That's tip to tip. We went from Nashville to Eugene
- 21:17Speaker 2: and we won and we were like, this suck is
- 21:19Speaker 2: too long.
- 21:21Speaker 1: Uh So yeah, I'm just gonna throw her on because
- 21:26Speaker 1: I'm a big fan.
- 21:27Speaker 2: Here.
- 21:27Speaker 1: She is head coach of Liberty Softball. Coach Doc Richardson, Coach,
- 21:31Speaker 1: I am honored to speak with you, and for a
- 21:33Speaker 1: couple of reasons. One, my family loves you. They love
- 21:36Speaker 1: you so much. And secondly, do the people call you
- 21:40Speaker 1: doctor coach or I like, how does that work? Because
- 21:42Speaker 1: you are a MD medical doctor and a coach. Do
- 21:45Speaker 1: you ever get called doctor Richardson?
- 21:49Speaker 2: Uh?
- 21:49Speaker 6: Sometimes I do, yes, but usually it's just coach or
- 21:53Speaker 6: coach dot.
- 21:54Speaker 2: That's the coolest coach flex in the and we coach.
- 21:57Speaker 1: We've been all over the country with with coach Land
- 22:00Speaker 1: at Oregon where you are now to We've been everywhere
- 22:04Speaker 1: and not one single coach has been a doctor.
- 22:05Speaker 2: But you.
- 22:06Speaker 1: So this is really cool, and I want to start
- 22:08Speaker 1: with because you guys are in Oregon. Now, that has
- 22:13Speaker 1: got to be a long trip from you guys, right.
- 22:17Speaker 6: Yeah, it sure was, but you know how exciting to
- 22:20Speaker 6: be here. We're excited to be in the Superregionals. And
- 22:23Speaker 6: my voice is gone. I apologize, but boy, we gave
- 22:25Speaker 6: everything we got in the battle against Texas A and M,
- 22:29Speaker 6: so we're blessed to be here.
- 22:31Speaker 1: Did you guys have to I'm assuming I'm hoping they
- 22:35Speaker 1: chartered you guys, they fly you guys charter over.
- 22:37Speaker 6: They were able to charter thirty of us, so we
- 22:40Speaker 6: had another ten that had to find their way here commercial.
- 22:43Speaker 1: So did they have to stop for gas? Like I
- 22:45Speaker 1: think that's long enough. They may have to refuel. Do
- 22:47Speaker 1: they have to refuel you guys?
- 22:49Speaker 6: Yes, we refilled in South Dakota.
- 22:52Speaker 1: That's crazy that all the way across the country, like
- 22:55Speaker 1: all the way from the East coast over to Eugene, Oregon.
- 22:58Speaker 1: I want to take a second because I watched all
- 22:59Speaker 1: three of your games against Texas A and M.
- 23:02Speaker 2: We are a softball family.
- 23:03Speaker 1: From Patty or coach Gasso to DJ my brother in law,
- 23:07Speaker 1: we are a softball family, and so watch the first win,
- 23:11Speaker 1: was like, that's crazy. What watched when you guys had
- 23:14Speaker 1: the lead? And I want to go to the second
- 23:16Speaker 1: game when you have the lead and Texas A and
- 23:18Speaker 1: M ends up winning that game, And to me as
- 23:20Speaker 1: a sports fan, I think, well, they just went through
- 23:23Speaker 1: it and lost. I don't know if they're gonna be
- 23:25Speaker 1: able to fight through that third game. What do you
- 23:26Speaker 1: say after you guys lose that first game to Texas
- 23:29Speaker 1: A and M, but the second game you played, what
- 23:30Speaker 1: do you say between games?
- 23:32Speaker 6: Well, I said, ladies, we scored eleven runs against the
- 23:35Speaker 6: number one seeded national team and we made sixers and
- 23:40Speaker 6: we were right there to win. Even at the at
- 23:42Speaker 6: the end you saw bases loaded, full count. We had
- 23:45Speaker 6: our opportunities. So it's like, ladies, you know what, it
- 23:49Speaker 6: proves that we can beat any team in the country.
- 23:51Speaker 6: We've already beat them once. Let's take them down again.
- 23:55Speaker 1: In the history of Regional Super Regional, a number one
- 23:58Speaker 1: seed has never fallen. You guys were the first team
- 24:00Speaker 1: to ever do that. And so, and you're right, it
- 24:02Speaker 1: was basis loaded and I mean they threw a ball
- 24:05Speaker 1: four too. Not to go back to a single pitch
- 24:07Speaker 1: like they lost a game. You guys had won the
- 24:09Speaker 1: game if you let one pitch go by uh and
- 24:11Speaker 1: you managed to come back and win that tiebreaker game
- 24:15Speaker 1: to move on. Did you feel like your girls had
- 24:18Speaker 1: it in them? Did you feel like they needed to
- 24:20Speaker 1: be pumped up to be put back into it, because
- 24:22Speaker 1: also you know you're you're having to play back to
- 24:24Speaker 1: back now.
- 24:25Speaker 6: Well, you saw a little lull, you know, when we
- 24:28Speaker 6: were down three in the third game, the IF Championship game.
- 24:31Speaker 6: But I knew that our team had it in him.
- 24:35Speaker 6: I'm just so blessed because this team realizes that don't
- 24:38Speaker 6: let the sport of softball, you know, don't worship the
- 24:41Speaker 6: sport of softball, but let softball be your worship. Back
- 24:44Speaker 6: to the Lord. They've been given amazing talents, and just
- 24:48Speaker 6: as the Lord says, like trust them the talents they're
- 24:51Speaker 6: meant to be shared. He put us at one of
- 24:53Speaker 6: the biggest stages and we were able to just rely
- 24:57Speaker 6: on that, and they relied on each other and just
- 25:00Speaker 6: played the game. You could see they played with so
- 25:02Speaker 6: much freedom. It was just so competitive. I loved every
- 25:06Speaker 6: minute of it.
- 25:07Speaker 2: Do you get nervous in game when it's a situation
- 25:10Speaker 2: like that, not.
- 25:10Speaker 6: Nervous, really just end up praying go to the Lord
- 25:13Speaker 6: and not really praying for victory, just praying for just
- 25:18Speaker 6: peace and competitive you know, performances because when you give
- 25:23Speaker 6: it your best, your best is good enough, right and
- 25:26Speaker 6: can't give any more. And that was when you can
- 25:30Speaker 6: walk off the field with your head high knowing that
- 25:32Speaker 6: you did that, and our girls did it. And there
- 25:35Speaker 6: was so much talent, you know, on that field between
- 25:38Speaker 6: Texas A and M and the Liberty Softball, the fans.
- 25:42Speaker 6: The Twelfth Man is the reason why my voice is
- 25:45Speaker 6: like it like this right now. It was just so awesome,
- 25:50Speaker 6: It was so inspiring, it was loud, you couldn't ask for,
- 25:56Speaker 6: just a feeling very close and similar to the World Series.
- 26:00Speaker 6: It was a great game. But our girls are not
- 26:04Speaker 6: looking in the past right now. They have got momentum
- 26:07Speaker 6: and getting ready for the battle we have against Oregon
- 26:10Speaker 6: coming up on Friday and Saturday.
- 26:12Speaker 1: I want to ask one more question about the past.
- 26:14Speaker 1: And in that final game, you put in a picture
- 26:16Speaker 1: that hadn't pitched at all during the series, and man,
- 26:19Speaker 1: what energy she had and you couldn't hear the announces
- 26:22Speaker 1: with the announcers were like, well, she has. She struggles
- 26:24Speaker 1: with her control, so why did you make the move
- 26:27Speaker 1: to her? And it was control often a problem and
- 26:30Speaker 1: what did she do different this time?
- 26:31Speaker 6: Well, we actually were prepared to go with Escobar, Alena
- 26:36Speaker 6: Escobar the whole way, but when we went out there
- 26:39Speaker 6: to try and encourage her after home run was given
- 26:41Speaker 6: up in two singles back to back, she just said
- 26:45Speaker 6: she couldn't she couldn't finish because how much her achilles
- 26:49Speaker 6: was hurting. So it's kind of a god. God has
- 26:53Speaker 6: a plan and Yoda was ready. She's been really on
- 26:58Speaker 6: the rise, I would say to the end of this season.
- 27:00Speaker 6: She even said it herself. She was throwing maybe sixty
- 27:04Speaker 6: one sixty two last year, and she's been able to
- 27:06Speaker 6: work on her form in her mindset, and she was
- 27:09Speaker 6: hitting sixty eight and as a lefty when she came in,
- 27:13Speaker 6: you guys, her first warm up pitch, she threw a
- 27:16Speaker 6: ground ball to the backstock and the four or five thousand,
- 27:21Speaker 6: you know, Texas A and M fans were laughing at her, laughing,
- 27:26Speaker 6: and she gave a little smirk and I knew no
- 27:30Speaker 6: pun intended. The flame was lit and I'm just so
- 27:34Speaker 6: proud of her. I was proud of Elena as well.
- 27:36Speaker 6: She threw over four hundred pitches. She was the one
- 27:40Speaker 6: with the most experienced last year in the Georgia Regionals
- 27:43Speaker 6: who were won out of way from making history for
- 27:46Speaker 6: our program to get to the Supers, and she had
- 27:50Speaker 6: a lot to do with us getting there this year.
- 27:53Speaker 6: But boy, to see to see Yoda just be able
- 27:56Speaker 6: to close it out like she did a thriller, A
- 27:59Speaker 6: Bill the nail Bier. It was. It had everything you, guys,
- 28:04Speaker 6: you could think of, from the ejection of a fan,
- 28:07Speaker 6: you know, to the controversial calls of umpires, to the
- 28:12Speaker 6: back to back speed and home runs. And it was
- 28:16Speaker 6: so fun, wasn't it.
- 28:17Speaker 2: It was awesome? And we watched again.
- 28:21Speaker 1: I've never I've watched Texas and I play a bunch
- 28:23Speaker 1: of the year because they're in the SEC. But I
- 28:25Speaker 1: haven't spent a bunch of time watching Liberty play. And
- 28:27Speaker 1: I watched all three of your games. And so the
- 28:31Speaker 1: two questions one about Escobar when she came off, she
- 28:33Speaker 1: was crying a bit.
- 28:34Speaker 2: She was emotional.
- 28:35Speaker 1: Is it because her achilles was hurting her so bad
- 28:38Speaker 1: and she wanted to stay in the game.
- 28:39Speaker 2: Is that why?
- 28:40Speaker 6: Yes, that's why I mean Elena was She wanted to
- 28:43Speaker 6: finish it out. This is their senior year, and you know,
- 28:46Speaker 6: when you play games like that, you never know which
- 28:48Speaker 6: way they're going to go. And so for her, she
- 28:51Speaker 6: wanted to give it more. She gave it everything she got,
- 28:53Speaker 6: and our plan was not to take her out, actually,
- 28:57Speaker 6: but she recognized it was just you much. It just
- 29:01Speaker 6: hurt her too much. You've been It shows a competitiveness
- 29:03Speaker 6: within a yeah, and.
- 29:05Speaker 2: I didn't know that's why it was. That makes a
- 29:06Speaker 2: lot of sense.
- 29:07Speaker 1: You've been at Liberty for I guess twelve years now,
- 29:09Speaker 1: because you started in twenty thirteen. Is your faith a
- 29:11Speaker 1: big reason that you found Liberty to be such a
- 29:13Speaker 1: great home for you?
- 29:14Speaker 6: Oh? Absolutely, without a doubt. I mean I was asked
- 29:17Speaker 6: for and for mayor County commissioner. You has Senate for
- 29:20Speaker 6: the state of Florida. I thought the Lord's path for
- 29:22Speaker 6: me at this time in my life was to be
- 29:25Speaker 6: in politics, and so my husband and I were talking
- 29:28Speaker 6: about it. I said, okay, but I'm going to go
- 29:31Speaker 6: to the Lord first. And as I did, I said, Lord,
- 29:33Speaker 6: just make it perfectly clear where you want me to be.
- 29:36Speaker 6: The next morning, I got a phone call from the
- 29:38Speaker 6: largest Christian university in the world, Liberty, from their athletic
- 29:41Speaker 6: director who asked me to coach. And at the end
- 29:45Speaker 6: of the conversation and he said, I said, you know,
- 29:50Speaker 6: I have never head coached in college before. I'm not
- 29:54Speaker 6: sure if you're realize that. So I'm definitely humbled by
- 29:56Speaker 6: this opportunity. But he said, we realize that, but we
- 29:59Speaker 6: feel the Lord is leading us to you and everything
- 30:02Speaker 6: that happened in the movement and the decision to do it,
- 30:05Speaker 6: we just knew that the Lord had his hand on it.
- 30:08Speaker 6: Very humble beginnings at Liberty when I was there just
- 30:11Speaker 6: twelve years ago. To see the growth of the university,
- 30:18Speaker 6: the support of athletics. I'm sure everybody is seeing what
- 30:23Speaker 6: Liberty has been able to do between football, basketball, you
- 30:26Speaker 6: name it, field, hockey, lacrosse, softball, baseball, just keep going on,
- 30:30Speaker 6: you know, basketball, and we're just so supported there. But
- 30:35Speaker 6: I think you know, when the Lord is leading you,
- 30:37Speaker 6: he tells you you'll have this peace that transcends all
- 30:41Speaker 6: understanding because you might go a softball coach. Thank you, guys.
- 30:45Speaker 6: It's so awesome to be able to be at a
- 30:48Speaker 6: university who just stands for training champions for Christ and
- 30:54Speaker 6: to have Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior as the
- 30:57Speaker 6: center of it all. To be able to just share
- 31:02Speaker 6: my faith and offso grow my faith, be able to evangelize,
- 31:09Speaker 6: you know, to be able to help these young girls
- 31:11Speaker 6: as they are brought to us by the Lord for
- 31:14Speaker 6: different reasons. You know, it's more than just softball. And
- 31:18Speaker 6: so to be able to help them find the answers
- 31:22Speaker 6: right and that is it's just been a blessing. And
- 31:26Speaker 6: to see it all come together each year, getting stronger
- 31:28Speaker 6: and stronger, trusting the Lord more and more. He's faithful.
- 31:32Speaker 6: And you guys, it's not just about winning. It's really
- 31:35Speaker 6: about changing lives and be able to to Jesus said,
- 31:39Speaker 6: you're the form are against me right, there's no lukewarm.
- 31:43Speaker 6: So realize that Jesus paid it all. He paid it
- 31:46Speaker 6: all in the cross for our debt. He died, gave
- 31:49Speaker 6: his life up very three days and a rose from
- 31:51Speaker 6: the dead to overcome death which Satan had put on
- 31:56Speaker 6: the world on humanity to try and screw up God's plan.
- 32:00Speaker 6: We're meant to live forever, and so we are falling people.
- 32:05Speaker 6: We're all sinners and fall short of the glory of God.
- 32:08Speaker 6: But Jesus gave us a way to make it better
- 32:13Speaker 6: to get closer to the Lord. And when we stop
- 32:16Speaker 6: just thinking about living our day to day life and
- 32:21Speaker 6: those types of things, but have a soul searching, what
- 32:24Speaker 6: is life really about? So through the sport of softball,
- 32:28Speaker 6: God has been able to open that door for me
- 32:31Speaker 6: to be able to just worship Him in a way
- 32:35Speaker 6: that He has given back so much to me through
- 32:37Speaker 6: a sport I love so much to impact the lives
- 32:40Speaker 6: of not just these young girls, but all who are walking,
- 32:44Speaker 6: you know, watching and be an impact to really soul search.
- 32:48Speaker 6: Enjoy the game, enjoy the competition. It's awesome, but there's
- 32:52Speaker 6: a competition for our souls. So what team are you on?
- 32:56Speaker 6: And we know the winning team. It's God. It's not Satan,
- 32:59Speaker 6: the anti crime, some false prophet and the demons and
- 33:02Speaker 6: those that are non believers. So yeah, it's so awesome
- 33:08Speaker 6: to be able to be woken up if you would.
- 33:11Speaker 6: When covid hit I just said, what does the Lord
- 33:15Speaker 6: say about this? There were even non believers that you
- 33:18Speaker 6: probably know that we're like, what is going on? And
- 33:22Speaker 6: God has given us the answers of what are going on?
- 33:25Speaker 6: And so I just encourage everyone to seek the answers,
- 33:28Speaker 6: enjoy the life we've been given, because that is a
- 33:31Speaker 6: huge gift. But the biggest gift is in the biggest
- 33:35Speaker 6: blessing is Jesus Christ paying it all for our debts,
- 33:38Speaker 6: and just accept him. And when you do, man, you're
- 33:43Speaker 6: just free. You know your life as a whole other
- 33:47Speaker 6: meaning because we know there's more than just the life
- 33:49Speaker 6: we have in this earth. So we'll be on a
- 33:51Speaker 6: new earth, new heaven, and it's going to be exciting.
- 33:56Speaker 6: And right now, it's just so humbled, you guys, just
- 34:00Speaker 6: so humbled and honored to be a part of the
- 34:02Speaker 6: team that is the strongest team we've ever had to
- 34:05Speaker 6: this point, and just building a legacy.
- 34:10Speaker 1: I have two final questions and one, if you'll indulge
- 34:12Speaker 1: me for a second. You did hit the home run
- 34:15Speaker 1: and won the gold medal in the gold medal game.
- 34:17Speaker 2: That was you. You you felt it.
- 34:20Speaker 1: Do you remember do you remember feeling did the ball
- 34:23Speaker 1: come off the bat as pure as when you hit
- 34:26Speaker 1: a perfect golf shot? Do you remember the feeling of
- 34:28Speaker 1: hitting that home run to when the gold medal?
- 34:30Speaker 6: And I love golf too, and you're absolutely right, I
- 34:34Speaker 6: had a humbling experience a few days earlier against the
- 34:37Speaker 6: China national team and they struck me out with bases loaded,
- 34:45Speaker 6: and as I'm walking to the dugout, I realized, Okay,
- 34:49Speaker 6: she beat me this time, and how to beat me?
- 34:51Speaker 6: You guys with bases loaded, full count the change up?
- 34:55Speaker 6: Are you kidding me? My mind didn't in process you
- 34:57Speaker 6: would throw a change up. So I just to school, right,
- 35:01Speaker 6: we're not losers if we're learning. So what happens. We
- 35:05Speaker 6: seen Team China and the gold medal game in the
- 35:07Speaker 6: nineteen ninety six Olympics, and when I sent to bat
- 35:10Speaker 6: with Laura Berg at first base, I had two balls
- 35:12Speaker 6: and no strikes, And before I got into the batter's box,
- 35:16Speaker 6: my thought was, Okay, I know she's gonna throw me
- 35:20Speaker 6: a change up. It doesn't make any sense she's gonna
- 35:23Speaker 6: do it, but I know she's gonna do it, just
- 35:24Speaker 6: learning from the past. And as they got into the
- 35:27Speaker 6: batter's box, I just waited. I sat change and when
- 35:31Speaker 6: she threw it, man, my eyes got this. I mean
- 35:39Speaker 6: I just waited and I waited, and to be honest,
- 35:45Speaker 6: I just wanted to rip the cover off of that
- 35:48Speaker 6: ball so she would never ever throw that pitch again.
- 35:53Speaker 6: It was such a good pitch. And when I saw
- 35:57Speaker 6: off the bat, even though they say scientifically that's impossible,
- 36:00Speaker 6: you're right. It felt connected. And when I saw that
- 36:05Speaker 6: ball go at least I don't know, it's a foot
- 36:07Speaker 6: or three feet to the fair side of the fair pole,
- 36:11Speaker 6: my arm just went up in the air because I knew,
- 36:14Speaker 6: I knew it was enough for us to make history,
- 36:18Speaker 6: to capture the first ever Olympic gold medal for the
- 36:21Speaker 6: FOURD to softball. And it was and one of the
- 36:25Speaker 6: thrilling moments of my athletic career, and there have been
- 36:29Speaker 6: so many. And to be able to coach right now
- 36:32Speaker 6: where we're at two, it's just another blessing.
- 36:36Speaker 1: All right, Last question, what do you say to your
- 36:38Speaker 1: girls before the big three game series?
- 36:39Speaker 6: Here, ladies were going into battle Oregon is not I mean,
- 36:47Speaker 6: they should be seated higher than sixteen. The last pole
- 36:50Speaker 6: is six. So they're very good squad. So we're going
- 36:53Speaker 6: to be going into battle and we've taken down number one.
- 36:56Speaker 6: But guess what it's all about being pressed and zoom, focus,
- 37:02Speaker 6: lock in and let's have a blast, rip the cover
- 37:07Speaker 6: off the ball, stay together, and really we just need
- 37:11Speaker 6: to play liberty softball. We're not gonna look to the past.
- 37:14Speaker 6: So it's just so fun to play. They love to play.
- 37:18Speaker 6: I really don't have to say too much when you
- 37:21Speaker 6: know you're doing a good job coaching, when you know
- 37:24Speaker 6: you don't have to be the one that's inspiring them
- 37:29Speaker 6: because their motivation and inspiration is coming from within. So
- 37:34Speaker 6: they're going to trust the Lord. They're going to give
- 37:35Speaker 6: it to him, and let's honor him and always say
- 37:38Speaker 6: in too, go Plames and go God.
- 37:41Speaker 1: Right doctor coach, not Richardson, Like I feel like I've
- 37:45Speaker 1: been in the tent.
- 37:46Speaker 2: Is it too late for us to play for her?
- 37:47Speaker 2: I know if I'm saying like I'm ready, I'm ready
- 37:49Speaker 2: right now. Hey.
- 37:50Speaker 1: I hope you guys stay healthy and I hope you
- 37:53Speaker 1: play hard and you're fulfilled.
- 37:55Speaker 2: And that was amazing. I'm rooting for you guys.
- 37:57Speaker 1: So hopefully at the end of the weekend, I don't know,
- 38:00Speaker 1: we're we're going to see in Oklahoma City. I'll be there,
- 38:03Speaker 1: You'll be there while I'll be there. That's the goal.
- 38:05Speaker 1: Thanks for your time, Coach. We really appreciate it.
- 38:07Speaker 6: Thank you so much. God bless you guys, and good Flames.

- 39:10Speaker 1: So while we're doing the show so early this morning,
- 39:11Speaker 1: is as soon as the radio show is over, I
- 39:13Speaker 1: gonna fly to Fatville because they moved the game because
- 39:16Speaker 1: of weather. It's not like a baseball game where they
- 39:18Speaker 1: can just rescheduled later. It's super Regionals. So if they
- 39:22Speaker 1: win this best of three, they go to the College
- 39:24Speaker 1: World Series, which they've never done before.
- 39:26Speaker 2: They moved the game to eleven AM and it was
- 39:28Speaker 2: supposed to be win seven pm. That's crazy.
- 39:31Speaker 1: So as soon as the show's over, I gotta go
- 39:33Speaker 1: because I gotta get to Fareeville and go to the game.
- 39:36Speaker 5: Dude, teams crack like cram when it comes to that,
- 39:39Speaker 5: Like it's just like, oh crap, well, I mean I was,
- 39:41Speaker 5: We're gonna do other things in practice now at first
- 39:43Speaker 5: seven o'clock game. Now it's eleven. We're not ready at
- 39:45Speaker 5: seven o'clock.
- 39:46Speaker 1: That's not what you said. What I said, your fantasy.
- 39:49Speaker 1: I didn't say that slip there, did you did you did?
- 39:53Speaker 2: Oh? No, so day of not a lot of practicing.
- 39:57Speaker 1: Okay, So yes, a note like DJ who's the hitting
- 40:01Speaker 1: coach at Arkansas, is just going through game tape when
- 40:06Speaker 1: I'm there. If he's got a game the next date,
- 40:07Speaker 1: it's what he's doing all night, making charts and grafts
- 40:10Speaker 1: and watching tape.
- 40:11Speaker 2: So day of it's not that big of a deal.
- 40:14Speaker 1: It just changes the schedule when they got to wake up,
- 40:16Speaker 1: when they eat, when they go. So but we're gonna
- 40:18Speaker 1: go and do that. Hopefully they'll have decent enough weather
- 40:20Speaker 1: to play. But yeah, that's why we did the show
- 40:23Speaker 1: extra early. It's not affecting you guys at all that
- 40:25Speaker 1: are listening to it, but you get good seats.
- 40:28Speaker 2: We don't really sit in seats.
- 40:30Speaker 1: We're there to go out in the outfield because they
- 40:32Speaker 1: have young kids that want to run around, or we
- 40:34Speaker 1: go up into the coach's box and watch from up there.
- 40:37Speaker 2: It just depends. If it's raining, we'll be in the
- 40:38Speaker 2: coach's box. They've got food in there and stuff.
- 40:40Speaker 1: Yeah, but not great food. What do you mean, No,
- 40:43Speaker 1: it's not full concession. Oh even in the stadium, it's
- 40:47Speaker 1: not full full concession. Okay, but yeah, so we're gonna
- 40:50Speaker 1: go do that. I hope everybody has a great weekend.
- 40:53Speaker 1: Anything I'm forgetting Mike, anything I'm not doing I think
- 40:56Speaker 1: We're all good. We did NFL, we did college. The
- 41:02Speaker 1: Knicks and Pacers play tonight. That was a crazy ending,
- 41:05Speaker 1: by the way.
- 41:06Speaker 2: Crazy ending. I thought it was over. So did Halliburton. Well,
- 41:10Speaker 2: I thought he did the choke a little too early,
- 41:13Speaker 2: little to earlier, foot was on the line. Dude, do
- 41:15Speaker 2: you like him?
- 41:16Speaker 5: I don't know. I really can't tell. Dude, I can't
- 41:19Speaker 5: tell because, like, I want to like him. But then
- 41:22Speaker 5: I think what got me was of the post interview
- 41:24Speaker 5: after that game. They were asking like, oh, you did
- 41:25Speaker 5: the choke sign, and he like just said yeah, I
- 41:28Speaker 5: didn't really want to do it. They kind of made
- 41:30Speaker 5: me do it, and then so I had just decided.
- 41:31Speaker 2: To do it, and I'm like, yeah, make him do it.
- 41:33Speaker 2: What are you talking about?
- 41:34Speaker 5: Just own it like you did it because you thought
- 41:36Speaker 5: you won and your foot wasn't on the line and
- 41:38Speaker 5: you had to go to overtime, and that could have
- 41:40Speaker 5: been really bad.
- 41:42Speaker 2: It could have been, but it wasn't.
- 41:43Speaker 5: It wasn't, dude, And I'm so glad that it wasn't,
- 41:45Speaker 5: because as soon as he did it and they and
- 41:47Speaker 5: I didn't, the score didn't change. The score only tied
- 41:50Speaker 5: up the game. And we're like, Oh, that's weird. Why
- 41:52Speaker 5: is it only tied? Then they showed the replay and like,
- 41:55Speaker 5: oh no, this is not good.
- 41:56Speaker 1: They asked Rick Carlyle what he thought about Halliburton doing
- 41:59Speaker 1: the choking, and he goes, you know what, he deserves
- 42:00Speaker 1: to do what ever he wants.
- 42:01Speaker 2: Oh.
- 42:02Speaker 1: I thought that's a pretty good answer by a coach
- 42:04Speaker 1: who probably was like I wouldn't have done.
- 42:05Speaker 2: That, but yeah, the choke because it's a regimeil.
- 42:08Speaker 1: It's a regiment which, by the way, the Pacers end
- 42:10Speaker 1: up losing that series to the Knicks back in the day. Yea,
- 42:13Speaker 1: even after he did the choke. But it wasn't Oman
- 42:16Speaker 1: who Reggie was there. I think he was part of
- 42:17Speaker 1: the broadcast.
- 42:18Speaker 2: Yeah, he's one of the analyst guys.
- 42:20Speaker 1: And so yeah, I was like, oh no, but you know,
- 42:24Speaker 1: like just say like yeah, man, no, I mean just
- 42:27Speaker 1: him doing it that early when they didn't win the game,
- 42:29Speaker 1: I know, but honestly, I thought it was the buzzer beater.
- 42:31Speaker 1: I thought they won the game. Yeah, but just like
- 42:33Speaker 1: he did, it was awesome. So I guess I'm rooting
- 42:37Speaker 1: for the Pacers in that series. Do you like Haliburton?
- 42:40Speaker 1: I think if he to me is pat bev not
- 42:43Speaker 1: how they play. But if he's on your team, you
- 42:46Speaker 1: freaking love him. Yeah, And if he's not, you're probably
- 42:48Speaker 1: so annoyed by him you secretly punch him in the
- 42:51Speaker 1: nuts when you're when you're yeah, yeah, when you're like,
- 42:55Speaker 1: you pinch him a little bit in the back whenever.
- 42:57Speaker 1: It so, Yeah, he's fine. I like the Pacer, I
- 43:00Speaker 1: really do. I mean, I think it helped that we
- 43:01Speaker 1: went to the Pacers and they let us for sure.
- 43:04Speaker 2: It helped with Miles Turner for sure. Yeah.
- 43:05Speaker 1: I roote for him big time. Yeah, even though it
- 43:07Speaker 1: was a longhorn, it's true. Oh yeah, yeah, forgot every
- 43:10Speaker 1: kind of a long horn.
- 43:11Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 43:12Speaker 1: I hope you guys have a great weekend. Thank you
- 43:15Speaker 1: for listening. Thanks to Coach dot Richardson. Hopefully, just like
- 43:19Speaker 1: this last time, when we come back and we do
- 43:21Speaker 1: a show next week, the first show of the week,
- 43:23Speaker 1: I'm like, We're going to the College World Series, because
- 43:25Speaker 1: that'd be freaking awesome.
- 43:26Speaker 2: It'd be the first time ever Arkansas has done it.
- 43:28Speaker 1: You guys have a great weekend. I hope it's a
- 43:31Speaker 1: long one. I hope you have a great Memorial Day.
- 43:34Speaker 1: I hope you take a minute and remember what Memorial
- 43:36Speaker 1: Day is all about. And then I hope you spend
- 43:38Speaker 1: a lot of time with your family and friends, and
- 43:40Speaker 1: really I hope it's a special one. So thank you
- 43:42Speaker 1: and we will see you guys next week. All right
