- 0:04Speaker 1: Hello friends from across the nation and around the world.
- 0:08Speaker 1: I'm Martin, and you are listening to Dad's Bedtime Stories.
- 0:13Speaker 1: And tonight, we're gonna head back into the spaceship universe
- 0:19Speaker 1: for a story that was suggested by my son, Oliver. Now,
- 0:25Speaker 1: Oliver really, really wanted a fishing planet. because Oliver has
- 0:34Speaker 1: spent most of his summer fishing. And I've been doing
- 0:38Speaker 1: that with him. So I decided to make that come
- 0:40Speaker 1: true today, since it was about time to do a
- 0:42Speaker 1: spaceship episode anyways. And I hope you like it. If
- 0:46Speaker 1: you like the podcast, don't forget to rate it and
- 0:50Speaker 1: review it wherever it is you're listening. And if you
- 0:54Speaker 1: want to support it financially, you can join us on Patreon,
- 0:58Speaker 1: where you also get ad-free episodes. or consider buying one
- 1:02Speaker 1: of our books. Cards of Power 1, Cards of Power 2,
- 1:09Speaker 1: we got Wizardcraft, and we have a Dad's Bedtime Stories
- 1:13Speaker 1: coloring book. So if you're interested in any of those things,
- 1:16Speaker 1: you can check them out. But before we get started,
- 1:20Speaker 1: I do want to give some really important shoutouts to
- 1:24Speaker 1: some of my newest Patreon sponsors. First of all, thank
- 1:29Speaker 1: you to Malachi and Milo, who I think actually started
- 1:34Speaker 1: sponsoring me back in June. But I never figured out
- 1:38Speaker 1: their names to give them a shout-out, so thank you.
- 1:41Speaker 1: I really appreciate the support, both of you, and from
- 1:44Speaker 1: your parent, Megan, too. And last, a big shout-out for
- 1:50Speaker 1: supporting me, and a big happy birthday to Chance. from
- 1:56Speaker 1: Third Lake, Illinois, who also recently became a Patreon sponsor
- 2:03Speaker 1: thanks to Andrea. Thank you, thank you, thank you to
- 2:08Speaker 1: those new Patreon sponsors and all of my Patreon sponsors,
- 2:12Speaker 1: because as you know, you help keep this podcast alive.
- 2:19Speaker 1: You guys and ads, which I'm going to play one
- 2:22Speaker 1: of right now if you're not listening on Patreon. Imagine
- 2:28Speaker 1: yourself sitting in the control center of the spaceship, floating
- 2:34Speaker 1: peacefully through space, when you hear a strange noise. Alert! Alert!
- 2:42Speaker 1: Incoming transmission, announces spaceship. It appears to be an advertisement.
- 2:51Speaker 1: An advertisement? Out here? Out here? Apparently, even the furthest
- 2:58Speaker 1: reaches of the galaxy are not safe from commercials. A
- 3:04Speaker 1: holographic screen appears in front of you. An excited alien
- 3:09Speaker 1: wearing a fishing hat appears on the screen. Behind him,
- 3:14Speaker 1: an enormous fish leaps out of a sparkling blue ocean.' Attention,
- 3:20Speaker 1: anglers of the galaxy,' he says. Do you think you
- 3:26Speaker 1: have what it takes to catch the big one? The
- 3:31Speaker 1: screen flashes between enormous fish, powerful fishing boats, and cheering crowds.
- 3:38Speaker 1: Then come to the fishing planet for our annual Galactic
- 3:43Speaker 1: Fishing Championship. Catch the biggest fish, compete against the greatest
- 3:49Speaker 1: anglers in the universe, and win... A golden fishing rod
- 3:55Speaker 1: slowly rotates on the screen. The legendary golden fishing rod.
- 4:04Speaker 1: You lean forward. Spaceship, did you see that? I did.
- 4:11Speaker 1: A fishing rod made of gold. That is extremely impractical
- 4:16Speaker 1: considering gold is quite heavy and relatively soft. No, not that,
- 4:23Speaker 1: but good point. The tournament. We should go to the tournament.
- 4:29Speaker 1: That is an excellent idea, one that I already calculated
- 4:34Speaker 1: you would have. I have taken the liberty of directing
- 4:38Speaker 1: us toward the fishing planet. Oh, okay, cool. Spaceships' engines roar,
- 4:48Speaker 1: and you shoot across the galaxy. Within minutes, you drop
- 4:53Speaker 1: out of super hyperdrive in front of a beautiful blue planet.
- 5:00Speaker 1: Welcome to the fishing planet, spaceship announces. As you approach,
- 5:07Speaker 1: you realize that almost the entire planet is covered in water,
- 5:12Speaker 1: other than thousands of little islands that are scattered across
- 5:16Speaker 1: its surface like green stepping stones. Some islands look like
- 5:22Speaker 1: they're covered in forests. Others have rocky cliffs, sandy beaches, or, well,
- 5:29Speaker 1: strange purple trees. And everywhere you look, there are boats.
- 5:36Speaker 1: Little boats, giant boats, hovering boats. Even a few boats
- 5:42Speaker 1: that look like enormous floating fish. That's a lot of
- 5:47Speaker 1: fishing boats, you say? approximately 47,000 registered competitors, according to
- 5:57Speaker 1: my information sources. Oh, where do we sign up? I
- 6:04Speaker 1: am currently following the broadcast signal. I believe it will
- 6:09Speaker 1: lead us to registration. Spaceship descends toward a large island
- 6:15Speaker 1: near the middle of the enormous tropical sea. The island
- 6:20Speaker 1: is covered in docks, fishing shops, colorful flags, enormous holographic advertisements,
- 6:29Speaker 1: and a whole bunch of boat dealers. A huge banner
- 6:34Speaker 1: stretches across the harbor. Welcome to the Galactic Fishing Championship.
- 6:42Speaker 1: Spaceship lands in a designated parking area beside the registration building.
- 6:47Speaker 1: You climb out, followed by Changer, who stretches his legs
- 6:52Speaker 1: and sniffs the salty ocean air. Come on, Changer, let's
- 6:57Speaker 1: get registered. Inside the registration building, you find a long
- 7:04Speaker 1: counter with several alien-looking registration officers. One of them is tall, green,
- 7:13Speaker 1: with four arms and, well, a pretty awesome mustache.'' Next,''
- 7:19Speaker 1: he calls. You step forward.'' Hi, I'd like to enter
- 7:25Speaker 1: the fishing tournament.'''' Wonderful,'' says the officer.'' Name?'' You tell him.''
- 7:32Speaker 1: Home planet.
- 7:34Speaker 2: Earth.
- 7:35Speaker 1: Ah, Earth. I've heard wonderful things about your fishing. Very
- 7:42Speaker 1: small fish, though, apparently.'''' Hey, we have some pretty big fish.''
- 7:49Speaker 1: Of course, of course you do. He taps a holographic screen. Alright, now,
- 7:55Speaker 1: before I can approve your registration, I'll need proof that
- 7:59Speaker 1: you have the required equipment. What kind of equipment? Well,
- 8:05Speaker 1: you're gonna need an approved fishing rod, or more than
- 8:08Speaker 1: one if you want, a registered fishing boat, a fish finder,
- 8:13Speaker 1: and a functional underwater scope. Well, Technically, you don't need that,
- 8:18Speaker 1: but it'll certainly help you win. Or, well, compete. I
- 8:21Speaker 1: doubt you're gonna win. All boats must also contain certified
- 8:26Speaker 1: living storage tanks to keep qualified fish alive until weigh-in.
- 8:32Speaker 1: We like to fish here, but we throw most of
- 8:34Speaker 1: them back. You scratch your head. Well, I don't exactly
- 8:41Speaker 1: have a fishing boat yet. The officer sighs. Well, then
- 8:48Speaker 1: I'm afraid. Behind you, a loud mechanical noise interrupts him.
- 8:54Speaker 1: There's whirring and clinking and clanking and some sort of
- 8:58Speaker 1: weird buzzing sound. You turn around and look out the
- 9:03Speaker 1: window at Spaceship, who's currently transforming. His wings fold inward.
- 9:10Speaker 1: His engines disappear behind his hull, the cockpit stretches into
- 9:15Speaker 1: a long, open fishing deck, and two comfortable fishing chairs
- 9:20Speaker 1: rise from the floor. Storage compartments unfold along the sides,
- 9:27Speaker 1: a powerful electric trolling motor appears at the bow, while
- 9:32Speaker 1: a massive propulsion system extends from the back. Fishing rods
- 9:37Speaker 1: pop out of hidden compartments, and four large wheels extend
- 9:43Speaker 1: beneath all of it. Within seconds, your spaceship has become
- 9:48Speaker 1: the most incredible-looking fishing boat you've ever seen. Fishing configuration complete,
- 9:56Speaker 1: you hear spaceship announce faintly through the window you turn
- 10:01Speaker 1: back to the registration officer actually i think i do
- 10:06Speaker 1: have a boat the officer stares through the window his
- 10:11Speaker 1: mustache twitches god heavens he hurries outside You follow him
- 10:19Speaker 1: as he circles Spaceship, inspecting the polished hull. Fishing rods,
- 10:26Speaker 1: holographic displays, enormous underwater scanning equipment. Dual-frequency sonar? Three-dimensional fish mapping?
- 10:38Speaker 1: Molecular water analysis? Naturally, Spaceship replies. The officer peers into
- 10:47Speaker 1: a compartment. Is that a miniature 3D printer? Six miniature
- 10:53Speaker 1: 3D printers. Correct spaceship. And these storage tanks? Fully oxygenated,
- 11:02Speaker 1: temperature-controlled living environments. The fish will remain comfortable and unharmed.
- 11:09Speaker 1: The officer steps backward. Well, I've certainly never seen anything
- 11:14Speaker 1: quite like this. He pulls out an enormous sticker with
- 11:19Speaker 1: the number 777 printed across it and slaps it onto
- 11:24Speaker 1: Spaceship's side. You're approved.
- 11:29Speaker 2: Awesome.
- 11:30Speaker 1: You climb aboard with Changer, who immediately curls up on
- 11:34Speaker 1: one of the fishing chairs. All right, Spaceship, show me
- 11:38Speaker 1: what you've got. With pleasure, a holographic screen rises from
- 11:45Speaker 1: the dashboard. First, our fish finder. It uses sonar to
- 11:51Speaker 1: detect underwater objects and create a three-dimensional map of everything
- 11:56Speaker 1: beneath us. A colorful image appears, showing the ocean floor, rocks, plants,
- 12:04Speaker 1: and dozens of little fish swimming around. Next, our fishing rods.
- 12:10Speaker 1: A compartment opens, revealing an impressive collection of fishing rods.
- 12:16Speaker 1: light rods for smaller fish, heavy rods for large predators,
- 12:22Speaker 1: and one reinforced rod capable of withstanding approximately 20,000 kilograms
- 12:28Speaker 1: of pulling force. You blink. 20,000 kilograms? One can never
- 12:38Speaker 1: be too prepared. Another compartment opens. Inside are several... Strange
- 12:45Speaker 1: looking pairs of goggles. These are our first person underwater
- 12:51Speaker 1: viewing goggles. They connect to my scanning equipment and allow
- 12:56Speaker 1: you to see beneath the surface as though you were
- 12:59Speaker 1: swimming alongside your lure. You put a pair on. Suddenly,
- 13:07Speaker 1: you're looking directly into the ocean. You can see fish
- 13:12Speaker 1: swimming between coral formations. tiny creatures hiding in the sand,
- 13:17Speaker 1: and a strange blue eel slithering beneath a rock.
- 13:23Speaker 2: Whoa.
- 13:24Speaker 1: Your view is reconstructed from my underwater sensors. No actual
- 13:29Speaker 1: camera needs to enter the water. You turn your head
- 13:34Speaker 1: and the underwater image moves with you. What happens if
- 13:39Speaker 1: I catch something, though? Simply say pass-through mode, and the
- 13:45Speaker 1: goggles will become transparent so you can see the real
- 13:49Speaker 1: world again. That's amazing. Finally, says Spaceship, our automated lure
- 13:58Speaker 1: printing system can manufacture specialized fishing lures based on the
- 14:03Speaker 1: feeding behaviors of any species we encounter. A tiny robotic
- 14:09Speaker 1: arm extends from the dashboard, holding a shiny silver lure. And, naturally,
- 14:16Speaker 1: I can assist with casting, navigation, fish identification, and emergency maneuvers.
- 14:25Speaker 1: You grin. This is going to be awesome. Suddenly, a
- 14:30Speaker 1: loudspeaker crackles across the island. Attention, competitors! All boats must
- 14:38Speaker 1: enter the water. The tournament begins in five minutes. You
- 14:43Speaker 1: grab the steering wheel. All right, let's go. Spaceship's wheels
- 14:49Speaker 1: begin turning and you drive straight down one of the
- 14:53Speaker 1: many boat ramps. With a splash, the hull settles into
- 14:58Speaker 1: the water. The wheels fold upward and disappear into the hull.
- 15:05Speaker 1: Water propulsion activated. announces Spaceship. You accelerate away from the dock,
- 15:13Speaker 1: joining thousands and thousands of other fishing boats gathering in
- 15:19Speaker 1: the enormous harbor. A gigantic holographic image appears above it. Welcome, anglers!
- 15:28Speaker 1: Here are your official tournament rules. The announcer explains that
- 15:33Speaker 1: only approved species... above their minimum size will count. Every
- 15:39Speaker 1: qualifying fish must be placed in a certified living storage
- 15:43Speaker 1: tank and brought back alive for the final weigh-in. The
- 15:48Speaker 1: competitor with the greatest combined weight wins the legendary golden
- 15:55Speaker 1: fishing rod, which will be presented by our president. Nobody
- 16:00Speaker 1: really invited him, but he just kind of came anyways.
- 16:03Speaker 1: You look around at the other competitors. Some have enormous
- 16:08Speaker 1: fishing rods. Others have boats covered in scanning equipment. One
- 16:14Speaker 1: alien is just fishing from what appears to be a
- 16:16Speaker 1: floating bathtub for some reason. Think we can actually win this?
- 16:21Speaker 1: You ask. With sufficient skill, patience, a little luck, and
- 16:28Speaker 1: my wildly advanced technology, our chances are encouraging. The giant
- 16:35Speaker 1: countdown appears above the harbor. Ten, nine, eight. You grip
- 16:42Speaker 1: the steering wheel. Changer sits up excitedly. Three, two, one.
- 16:50Speaker 1: With a brrrap, the tournament horn blasts across the ocean,
- 16:56Speaker 1: and all of the ship's engines roar to life, including
- 17:00Speaker 1: your own. You race across the ocean, weaving between islands
- 17:07Speaker 1: as hundreds of other fishing boats spread out in every direction.
- 17:12Speaker 1: Where should we start, spaceship? Scanning. A holographic map appears
- 17:18Speaker 1: above the dashboard. You can see the ocean floor beneath you,
- 17:23Speaker 1: including a steep underwater cliff covered in strange plants. Interesting.
- 17:30Speaker 1: There are several large fish hiding near that drop-off. Let's
- 17:35Speaker 1: check it out. Spaceship slows down and activates the trolling motor.
- 17:42Speaker 1: You don't want to scare the fish away after all.
- 17:45Speaker 1: You put on your special FPV goggles that allow you
- 17:51Speaker 1: to see underwater. And suddenly, you're looking directly beneath the water.
- 17:57Speaker 2: Whoa. Whoa.
- 17:59Speaker 1: Look at that, you say. An enormous orange fish with
- 18:04Speaker 1: six fins is swimming between two rocks. Its scales glow
- 18:10Speaker 1: like hot metal, and two enormous whiskers extend from its face.
- 18:16Speaker 1: Species identified, spaceship announces. Flame-whiskered rockfish. Estimated weight, 18 kilograms.
- 18:27Speaker 1: Is that good? It would be an excellent first catch.
- 18:32Speaker 1: A compartment opens, revealing a fishing rod with a bright
- 18:36Speaker 1: green lure attached. Cast approximately 12 meters toward the rock formation.
- 18:44Speaker 1: You grab the rod, pull it backward, and cast. With
- 18:50Speaker 1: a swoosh, the lure sails through the air, plops into
- 18:55Speaker 1: the water. and through your goggles you watch it sink
- 18:59Speaker 1: toward the rocks. Retrieve slowly, spaceship advises. Make the lure
- 19:06Speaker 1: look like an injured fish. You turn the reel. The
- 19:11Speaker 1: lure wiggles. The orange fish turns. It approaches. Come on,
- 19:19Speaker 1: you whisper. The fish opens its enormous mouth and chomps down.
- 19:26Speaker 1: Your rod bends violently. Fish on, you say as you
- 19:31Speaker 1: pull back and begin reeling. The fish dive towards the rocks,
- 19:36Speaker 1: but spaceship immediately warns you. Careful, it's trying to wrap
- 19:41Speaker 1: your line around that formation. It would seem that these
- 19:46Speaker 1: fish are wildly intelligent. You raise the rod and guide
- 19:52Speaker 1: the fish away. After another minute of fighting, a huge
- 19:57Speaker 1: orange shape appears beside your boat. Pass through, off, or on,
- 20:04Speaker 1: I mean, you say, and your goggles become transparent. A
- 20:10Speaker 1: robotic net extends from spaceship's side and scoops up the fish.
- 20:16Speaker 2: Yes.
- 20:18Speaker 1: The fish is carefully transferred into a large, oxygenated storage tank.
- 20:25Speaker 1: A screen displays its weight. 18.4 kilograms. Flame-whiskered rockfish. Not bad,
- 20:36Speaker 1: you say? An excellent beginning. For the next hour, you
- 20:41Speaker 1: explore the islands. You catch a silverfish with enormous wings
- 20:47Speaker 1: that tries to fly away straight out of the water.
- 20:51Speaker 1: Then you catch a bright yellowfish covered in little spikes. Careful,
- 20:57Speaker 1: spaceship warns. Those spikes contain a mild electrical charge. Electrical fish? Indeed. Fortunately,
- 21:07Speaker 1: your insulated robotic net handles it safely your next catch
- 21:13Speaker 1: is even stranger a blue fish with three eyes and
- 21:17Speaker 1: transparent head and follows your lure all the way to
- 21:22Speaker 1: the boat before finally biting by the time you finish
- 21:27Speaker 1: your living storage tank contains five fairly impressive fish 127.6
- 21:33Speaker 1: kilogram total That's pretty good, right? You ask. Certainly. However,
- 21:44Speaker 1: the tournament leader currently has 206 kilograms. You frown. We
- 21:52Speaker 1: need something bigger. Then I suggest we visit the Deepwater Islands.
- 22:00Speaker 1: You turn the steering wheel as Spaceship identifies a series
- 22:06Speaker 1: of islands on the map. Let's go. You accelerate toward
- 22:12Speaker 1: a distant collection of rocky islands at a pretty impressive speed.
- 22:18Speaker 1: The water gradually changes from turquoise to deep, dark blue.
- 22:25Speaker 1: Huge cliffs rise out of the ocean, and strange purple
- 22:29Speaker 1: trees hang over the water. These islands are surrounded by
- 22:34Speaker 1: an underwater canyon, Spaceship explains. Some of the largest fish
- 22:40Speaker 1: on the planet live here. You slow down. Then, let's
- 22:46Speaker 1: find one of them. Spaceship activates its most powerful sonar.
- 22:52Speaker 1: A three-dimensional image of the canyon appears. Small fish, rocks,
- 23:00Speaker 1: underwater caves, and then... Beep, beep, beep.
- 23:05Speaker 2: Whoa! Whoa!
- 23:08Speaker 1: You exclaim. An enormous shape appears on the screen. It's
- 23:14Speaker 1: almost six meters long. Spaceship? What is that? Scanning. The
- 23:24Speaker 1: shape moves slowly along the bottom of the canyon. Species identified.
- 23:30Speaker 1: Purple titan bass. Estimated weight approximately 1,000 kilograms. Your mouth
- 23:39Speaker 1: drops open. A thousand kilograms? Approximately. You activate your goggles.
- 23:49Speaker 1: Deep beneath the water, an enormous purple fish emerges from
- 23:54Speaker 1: a cave. It looks almost exactly like a largemouth bass
- 24:00Speaker 1: from Earth, except it's purple, and it's the size of
- 24:05Speaker 1: a great white shark. Its gigantic mouth opens, swallowing an
- 24:11Speaker 1: entire school of smaller fish in an enormous gulp. That's
- 24:17Speaker 1: the one, you say? Agreed. However, catching it will be
- 24:24Speaker 1: extremely difficult. Why, you ask? Because it is approximately 17
- 24:32Speaker 1: times heavier than you. You look at the fish, then...
- 24:38Speaker 1: and your fishing rod. Well, we're gonna need a bigger rod.
- 24:43Speaker 1: And a bigger lure, you say? Already working on it.
- 24:50Speaker 1: A robotic arm extends from the dashboard and lowers a
- 24:54Speaker 1: tiny sampling device into the water. DNA analysis complete. Combining
- 25:02Speaker 1: genetic information with observed feeding behavior. a holographic image appears.
- 25:10Speaker 1: The enormous bass seems particularly attracted to a species of
- 25:16Speaker 1: glowing red eel, printing specialized lure. With a whirring sound,
- 25:24Speaker 1: one of Spaceship's 3D printers begins working. Moments later, an
- 25:30Speaker 1: enormous red lure emerges. It looks like a glowing eel,
- 25:36Speaker 1: complete with flexible fins and a tail that wiggles really realistically. Perfect,
- 25:44Speaker 1: you say. Spaceship opens another compartment. Inside is the enormous,
- 25:52Speaker 1: reinforced fishing rod. You grab it with both hands. Here
- 25:58Speaker 1: goes nothing. You quickly snap the lure onto the line.
- 26:03Speaker 1: and cast. The giant lure sails through the air and
- 26:08Speaker 1: splashes into the canyon. Through your goggles, you watch it descend.
- 26:15Speaker 1: The purple bass turns. Its enormous eyes focus on the lure. Slowly,
- 26:23Speaker 1: you say as you reel in, watching the lure wiggle.
- 26:29Speaker 1: The bass follows. Then, Without warning, it chomps down on
- 26:36Speaker 1: the thing and swallows the lure. Your rod bends almost
- 26:41Speaker 1: in half. Fish on, you say as the line screams
- 26:47Speaker 1: off of the lure. Whoa! You quickly lock the rod
- 26:53Speaker 1: into the side of the boat and the entire boat
- 26:58Speaker 1: jerks forward. You nearly fall out of your chair. Brace yourself,
- 27:04Speaker 1: warns spaceship. The giant fish rockets through the canyon, dragging
- 27:10Speaker 1: the boat behind it, activating automatic drag control. The reel adjusts,
- 27:19Speaker 1: allowing the fish to pull the line without snapping it. Suddenly,
- 27:24Speaker 1: an enormous rock formation appears directly ahead of you. Rock,
- 27:30Speaker 1: you yell. And with a crash, spaceship smashes straight through
- 27:37Speaker 1: the rock. Chunks of stone explode into the air. Damage,
- 27:42Speaker 1: you shout. Minor scratches. My hull is significantly stronger than
- 27:48Speaker 1: ordinary fishing boats. The fish turns sharply, and your boat
- 27:54Speaker 1: swings sideways. With a wham, you smash through a floating log.
- 28:00Speaker 1: Splinters fly everywhere, and Changer begins to bark. This is insane,
- 28:07Speaker 1: you yell. Indeed, I am beginning to understand why people
- 28:13Speaker 1: enjoy fishing. The fish dives. Your rod bends even further.
- 28:19Speaker 1: I recommend pulling back, Spaceship advises. You grab onto the
- 28:26Speaker 1: reel and pull it backwards. The little slot the rod
- 28:31Speaker 1: was placed in on the side of the boat reacts
- 28:35Speaker 1: to your pulling and, well, kind of assists you by
- 28:39Speaker 1: bending backward itself. Then you start to reel it in.
- 28:45Speaker 1: Pull back, reel in. Pull back, reel in. The fish
- 28:52Speaker 1: gradually begins to tire, but then... A loud announcement echoes
- 28:58Speaker 1: from your dashboard. COMPETITORS! TEN MINUTES! REMAIN! Your eyes widen.
- 29:07Speaker 1: Ten minutes? We have to return to the weigh-in station
- 29:11Speaker 1: before the final buzzer. You look at the enormous fish.
- 29:16Speaker 1: Come on, buddy. You're coming with us. You pull again.
- 29:21Speaker 1: The purple bass finally rises toward the surface. Its gigantic
- 29:27Speaker 1: head breaks through the water. Pass-through on, you yell, and
- 29:34Speaker 1: your goggles turn transparent. Spaceship, get the net. Deploying. heavy
- 29:40Speaker 1: lift recovery system. Two enormous robotic arms extend from the
- 29:46Speaker 1: sides of your boat. A gigantic reinforced net unfolds between them,
- 29:52Speaker 1: and you guide the fish closer. Almost, almost... The fish thrashes.
- 30:00Speaker 1: Water sprays everywhere. Now, the robotic arm scoops beneath the
- 30:06Speaker 1: enormous bass. Hydraulic motors roar, and the fish rises out
- 30:13Speaker 1: of the water and is lowered into a gigantic living
- 30:18Speaker 1: storage tank that Spaceship rapidly constructs across the rear of
- 30:23Speaker 1: the deck. Obviously, the other one wasn't big enough. Fish secured,
- 30:29Speaker 1: announces spaceship as the new tank continues to pump up
- 30:34Speaker 1: with water. You collapse into your chair. We did it. Indeed. However,
- 30:43Speaker 1: however what? Six minutes remain. You jump up and head
- 30:49Speaker 1: over to the throttle. You immediately press forward on it
- 30:54Speaker 1: and spaceship accelerates. The boat rockets across the ocean, weaving
- 31:00Speaker 1: between islands and leaping over waves. The central harbor appears ahead.
- 31:06Speaker 1: Three minutes remain, announces the loudspeaker. You race toward the dock.
- 31:13Speaker 1: Other competitors are already lining up. Two minutes remain. Spaceship
- 31:20Speaker 1: swings around a fishing boat and slides into the final
- 31:23Speaker 1: available docking position. One minute remains. You jump out of
- 31:30Speaker 1: the boat. We're here. The tournament buzzer sounds with a
- 31:39Speaker 1: but you made it just in time. The registration officer
- 31:46Speaker 1: hurries toward your boat. Well, how did you do? You
- 31:51Speaker 1: point toward the enormous storage tank. I got something pretty big.
- 31:58Speaker 1: He looks inside, and his mustache stands straight up. God gravy!
- 32:06Speaker 1: Within minutes, a gigantic crane lifts your purple titan bass
- 32:12Speaker 1: onto the tournament's enormous weighing platform, keeping it supported in
- 32:17Speaker 1: a water-filled cradle, of course. The crowd gathers. The scale flashes.
- 32:25Speaker 1: subtracts the weight of the water, and the crowd erupts
- 32:29Speaker 1: as it announces 1,042.8 kilograms. We have a winner! Confetti
- 32:43Speaker 1: explodes across the harbor, and suddenly a golden hovercraft approaches
- 32:50Speaker 1: the dock. Standing on its deck is a strange, orange-skinned
- 32:56Speaker 1: alien with an enormous golden hairstyle, a red tie, and
- 33:02Speaker 1: a fishing hat. Introducing the president of the fishing planet,
- 33:08Speaker 1: President Trout. President Trout steps onto the dock, but, well,
- 33:16Speaker 1: not everyone looks entirely enthused. Wow. Wow. What a fish.
- 33:23Speaker 1: That's a tremendous fish. Everybody's talking about this fish. He
- 33:29Speaker 1: gestures toward the enormous purple bass. I've got bigger, of course.
- 33:35Speaker 1: Much bigger. Some people say the biggest fish ever caught
- 33:38Speaker 1: were caught by me, but this is a very, very
- 33:42Speaker 1: respectable fish. He shakes your hand vigorously. You're a tremendous fisherman.
- 33:49Speaker 1: Really tremendous. Almost as good as me. You try not
- 33:53Speaker 1: to laugh. President Trout holds up the legendary golden fishing rod.
- 34:00Speaker 1: This rod is beautiful. Solid gold. Well, mostly gold. The
- 34:06Speaker 1: best gold. Nobody makes fishing rods like we do. He
- 34:12Speaker 1: presents it to you. Congratulations, kid. You caught a really
- 34:17Speaker 1: big fish. You lift the golden fishing rod above your head,
- 34:23Speaker 1: and the crowd cheers. Changer barks. Spaceship honks his horn.
- 34:30Speaker 1: You didn't even know he had a horn. You did it.
- 34:35Speaker 1: After the ceremony, Spaceship carefully releases all of your fish
- 34:39Speaker 1: back into the ocean, including the enormous purple titan bass.
- 34:44Speaker 1: It gives one final splash before disappearing into the depths. Then,
- 34:52Speaker 1: spaceship begins to glow. Its panels break apart, float through
- 34:58Speaker 1: the air, reform themselves, and do a spaceship. The back
- 35:05Speaker 1: hatch opens up, and you climb aboard. You wave goodbye
- 35:11Speaker 1: as the ship floats up into the air. You place
- 35:15Speaker 1: the golden fishing rod beside the, well, strange trident you
- 35:22Speaker 1: got on the underwater planet on the trophy wall. Then
- 35:27Speaker 1: you lay down on the couch. The lights dim. You
- 35:33Speaker 1: close your eyes, place your head on the pillow, and
- 35:38Speaker 1: begin to just focus on your breath. With each breath,
- 35:45Speaker 1: Your muscles start to relax and your body sinks down
- 35:51Speaker 1: a little deeper into the couch. And soon, your mind
- 35:57Speaker 1: begins to wander off to thoughts of new dreams and
- 36:04Speaker 1: new adventures to come. Good night, everyone.
- 37:12Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 37:53Speaker 1: Thank you.
- 38:47Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 39:20Speaker 1: Thank you.
