Transcript
- 0:00Oh my gosh. Okay. All right. What's up, everyone?
- 0:04So will there ever be another Joe Rogan?
- 0:08And do podcasters have too much influence in our political infrastructure that
- 0:15we have in place right now?
- 0:16In the narrative of media, do podcasters have more power than the mainstream
- 0:23news? Do you know who this is? This is Brandon Fogle.
- 0:26And this is Evolution. Let's dive into this. Okay.
- 0:29I'm going to change up the kind of the flow of all this, you know,
- 0:32it's not going to be like, you know, straight to the point.
- 0:36I'm not like, I'm going to, I'm going to meander more.
- 0:39I have a feeling because I'm going to do what the heck I want to do, you know?
- 0:43And I feel like that is the change of what podcasting is.
- 0:50You create a podcast, you can do whatever you want, You know,
- 0:54it is open season, open game.
- 0:57That's why it can be so fun. And that's why people are in masses coming to podcasts
- 1:04and they're just fleeing places like CNN, ABC, CBS, the mainstream news.
- 1:11That is what has changed and what changed the political cycle last time around
- 1:16when Trump was going against Kamala.
- 1:18But this was raised in an interview that CNN had with Tim Dillon,
- 1:22who was a comedian. a podcaster. He's hilarious.
- 1:25And they were asking him straight up, do podcasters have more power now?
- 1:29And he's like, I think you're giving us a little bit more credit than we deserve.
- 1:34You know, and I think that's just a straight, honest answer.
- 1:37You know, it's everything is what you put into it.
- 1:40It's if you look at something and you think it has more power than it does,
- 1:43it is perception is reality.
- 1:45How you look at something that is what just thrusts meaning into it.
- 1:49If you see it is like they have a lot of power than they do.
- 1:52If you want to recalculate your missteps in the past previous election,
- 1:57that's your business, you know?
- 1:59And you want to try to just scapegoat or make excuses.
- 2:03That's your, that's your deal. I wanted to talk about this because Joe Rogan,
- 2:08he has been the man of podcasting for years now.
- 2:12He started on YouTube and he's still on YouTube, but he went to Spotify and
- 2:15now his stuff is back on YouTube.
- 2:16His whole archive is back on there. You can find it all. And he's got over like
- 2:213000 conversations, episodes.
- 2:25And man, the more you watch, the more you just get entrenched in it.
- 2:29You just, it's a different worldview because he changed the game.
- 2:33He changed it all because it was no longer of sound bites.
- 2:37You know, I guess we're getting a little bit more sound bite-ish with clips
- 2:41and everybody clipping everything up.
- 2:42That could be the Andrew Tate phenomenon that he started that where everything
- 2:47gets clipped up and you, it becomes a nice little reel that people see.
- 2:51And then, you know, they're, they're hooked.
- 2:53But Joe Rogan, he started it with, I'm just going to sit down with my friends
- 2:58and talk for hours and hours and hours.
- 3:02And that's what drew so many people because it was no longer suit and tie,
- 3:07say all the right words, not say the F word or not say, you know,
- 3:12anything else that steps outside of the norm of society and what, you know,
- 3:18society has placed on people that if they're on TV, they cannot say a curse
- 3:21word, or if they're on TV, they cannot say something that's outlandish and crazy,
- 3:25and maybe spark our interest to look into something that we've always just accepted.
- 3:31He, and I think that's why he changed his game so much from early on.
- 3:36He's like, people are really listening to me and everything that I'm saying,
- 3:40everybody's hanging on to every word that I'm saying on my podcast,
- 3:44and where he was just curious in a lot of ways, and just asking questions about
- 3:49things that seem like you don't touch that. You do not touch that at all.
- 3:54And he was asking it because he was curious. And I think that's the human heart.
- 3:57And I think that is what has drove so many people to him because he's smart,
- 4:01but he plays dumb in a lot of ways. And he's extremely curious.
- 4:07And when he has people on, he's just straight up. He gets to the real core of
- 4:10the person of who he's talking to. And people love that.
- 4:14People absolutely love that. So he has changed the game in that in that facet
- 4:19but is podcasting i just love it because it is it is completely upended everything
- 4:25of what we just expected news to be what we expected expected people that were
- 4:31just shoving information down our throat,
- 4:34as opposed to now we can question things. The internet blew that up,
- 4:39but Joe Rogan had a specific focal point and pushing it in a new direction.
- 4:45So will there ever be another Joe Rogan?
- 4:48I can't, to be honest, no, there will not.
- 4:51There will never ever be somebody to that extreme because he came from sitcoms.
- 4:56He came from Fear Factor.
- 4:58He came from UFC.
- 5:00He is the one who made UFC. You could say Dana White, that he had a huge hand in it, which obviously.
- 5:06But I think the whole vibe of UFC is because of Joe Rogan.
- 5:13It's because of Joe Rogan. He
- 5:14put it in the best spot available because of his, just the way that he is.
- 5:20He comes to it and he makes it for the regular everyman.
- 5:23Because he's just, I'm just having the time of my life watching people get the
- 5:29hell beat out of him, you know? And it's just fun to talk about.
- 5:32You know, it's fun to just discuss and I'm living the dream.
- 5:35That's what he's doing every day when he was doing UFC and he still does UFC.
- 5:39He doesn't go to Canada, though. That is one thing he will not do at this time, at this time.
- 5:44But the way that he has just changed the infrastructure of everything is just bananas.
- 5:49But it was very eye opening to me the way that the mainstream news is kind of
- 5:53coming around to can we maybe get ourselves a guy that can do what he can do, a liberal that can do.
- 6:02And Joe Rogan, you could say by all accounts and measures, he is liberal. But now he's just been.
- 6:08Pushed out of his own party, and the marker has been pushed so far,
- 6:15he seems like a right winger when he's not at all.
- 6:19He is still centrist, a lot more leaning left, but he has been driven to the
- 6:26right just because everybody on the left went crazy.
- 6:30All right, here's a take from Jesse Waters and his view of Joe Rogan and podcasters.
- 6:35Will there ever be another Joe Rogan? Let's see what has to say.
- 6:37They had Rogan, they lost him, and there'll never be another Rogan.
- 6:42The guy had to go on Fear Factor and eat scorpions first.
- 6:46He had to do the comedy circuit, UFC, and then climbed the charts of podcasting.
- 6:51It took years to get there.
- 6:52There's no hidden, undiscovered liberal Rogan just waiting to be discovered.
- 6:58He's popular because he's really curious. And in the Democrat party,
- 7:03curiosity killed the Democrat.
- 7:05You can't question authority if you're a Democrat, because the Democrats are
- 7:10the authority. I just love that.
- 7:13It's so true. It shows us the era that we are in, the zeitgeist that has become America.
- 7:21America, this is, we're no longer going, I mean, I think Europe and the UK,
- 7:26they're still, they're still more, a little more sophisticated and they,
- 7:31they're so proper. They're so proper over there.
- 7:35And we just come out, just, we live our emotions on our sleeve.
- 7:41This is how we are, you know, love it or hate it, you know, and this is the
- 7:44direction we are going, that people can just say what they want.
- 7:48Freedom of speech, freedom of thought. And that is what podcasting is the pinnacle
- 7:53of, that people can say what they want and they can just live life. They don't have to be,
- 8:00controlled. They don't have to have their minds censored and their thoughts
- 8:04controlled by whoever's in power.
- 8:08And you'd say the media has been in power forever.
- 8:12I think it was just when the TV first came out, there was only a few channels
- 8:17and a lot of people just took that.
- 8:19I mean, when there's no choice out there, whoever is in the position of primacy,
- 8:25they don't got any competition.
- 8:27And now with the internet explosion and now with podcasting and people just
- 8:32going on there and saying whatever the hell they want, it has changed the game. And it's awesome.
- 8:37It's, it's, it's a new era for America. I know it's, it's been bubbling up for a while.
- 8:41Joe Rogan, he changed it all. He absolutely changed it all.
- 8:45I want to switch gears a little bit because this stood out to me yesterday.
- 8:49Joe Rogan, he released a podcast he had with Aaron Rogers.
- 8:52And in that sit down, a little short phrase that we're only going to hear a
- 8:56little bit of it, what he says, but he's going to say something stood out to me.
- 9:00He says, I have no enemies, but he doesn't say it like that.
- 9:04He doesn't just say, I have no enemies.
- 9:06No, he says it like just flippant, just, just off the cuff.
- 9:11Like, so, I mean, it just, it comes out quickly and let's see if you can catch it.
- 9:15I guess you're going to catch it because he says it. Okay, here I mean,
- 9:18you shouldn't criticize the bad stuff, but if you criticize everything or if
- 9:22you ignore all the good stuff, then no one is going to listen to you.
- 9:25You can't do that. It's like if you have an enemy, if I have an enemy,
- 9:28I don't have any enemies, but if I right there, I don't have any enemies.
- 9:32Just, I don't know if anybody else caught that or if you even stood out to him.
- 9:36I don't have any enemies.
- 9:37Should we have enemies? Because I
- 9:40Patrick David, he's another businessman, famous podcaster that's out there,
- 9:45does so many different things.
- 9:46He has so much power and influence in this world.
- 9:49He's great. He was on the George Janko show and he has a book that is out that's
- 9:54like, choose your enemies wisely.
- 9:56And George and Patrick, they got in this whole kind of, they're both Christian,
- 10:01but it seemed like it got as much as Christians can get a little disagreeable between them.
- 10:08George's kind of viewpoint and Patrick's viewpoint, Patrick,
- 10:12he has that you should almost have enemies.
- 10:14Or maybe he wasn't even arguing that, but he's like, I got enemies.
- 10:17This is what I'm dealing with. This is what I live with. And he.
- 10:21God creates people in different ways. Not everybody is cookie cutter in the kingdom of God.
- 10:25Not everybody is the exact same. There's a George Janko.
- 10:28There's a Patrick, but David and Patrick, he has, I have my enemies and I've
- 10:32chosen them that are out there for some reason or other.
- 10:35And they are the ones that fuel me and just set me on fire and,
- 10:40and give me that chip on my shoulder and just give me an extra drive as if I needed any more.
- 10:46I've seen out there, Dave Portnoy. He also has, I've heard this,
- 10:51that he has champagne bottles.
- 10:53I don't know if this is right, but that he will pop open when his enemies kind
- 10:58of crumble or fall or something bad happens to them.
- 11:02Like almost a celebration of something going wrong for someone else.
- 11:06Joe says, I do not have any enemies. And he says it just like,
- 11:10I don't know if he's not thinking, but I think when you say something quick,
- 11:13it almost reveals a little bit more who you are. I don't have any enemies.
- 11:18He says it so quickly because it really is. I think he really does have no enemies.
- 11:24Like in his mind, there is no one,
- 11:27that he views as an enemy who was against him.
- 11:32I've heard Joe, he says, I will not read the comments. I don't read the comments.
- 11:36You know, don't look at the comments. Stay away from that. It'll just bring you down.
- 11:40It'll just mess you up. And comments will mess you up. They will mess you up if you let them.
- 11:46I've seen, you always hear so many people say, I get so many good comments,
- 11:52but then the bad ones are the ones that eat me alive and will just tear me down.
- 11:57For me, the good ones are the ones I just remember.
- 12:00I don't remember all the bad ones, maybe because I'm getting a lot more bad
- 12:02comments than Joe, but he doesn't even read his comments. But maybe one time he did.
- 12:08But I just know that the things that people say can definitely hurt you if you allow them to.
- 12:14But even biblically speaking, there are going to be enemies.
- 12:18We all have enemies. Even whether you want to not realize that they're there, they're still there.
- 12:25There are people that will want to hurt you just by any success you have or
- 12:31just want to hurt you in general. I can understand that.
- 12:34I can understand that. I sometimes have the trouble of thinking that people
- 12:38generally want the good for me or generally want the good for people.
- 12:43And I think that's because probably I'm not wired in a good way,
- 12:46probably not wired in the best of way.
- 12:48Some people are more wired for a propensity for something not so good as opposed to others.
- 12:54And maybe that's, it looks like it's a curse that they have it,
- 12:58but it might become, it might be easier for someone to have a good mindset than
- 13:03another one, than somebody else. And they have to struggle against that.
- 13:06I wonder when somebody has something, I think that is maybe, what's that word?
- 13:10Cynicism or just that you just, you glass half full as opposed to half empty kind of thing.
- 13:16I think sometimes I have a glass half empty that I see, I see the bad in things.
- 13:22You know, you see the person on the two sides of the bus.
- 13:24One person looks out, they see it's stormy and it's raining.
- 13:27They're just down. Same situation.
- 13:28And on the other side, the other person is just, just exuberant and just happy and just lit up.
- 13:34Everybody's different. And I think it's the mindset. Joe Rogan carries himself.
- 13:38He has a different mindset than other people.
- 13:40I don't have any enemies. He doesn't, he's not at the point anymore where he
- 13:44needs people to fuel him.
- 13:47He's going on his own, he's living his own thing, and he's just having fun with it.
- 13:52And I think the day you stop having fun with it, the day you're going to lose.
- 13:55You're not going to keep going. You're not going to become the greatest version of you.
- 14:00So will there be another Joe Rogan? I would say no. There will never be another
- 14:04Joe Rogan. He is the pioneer.
- 14:06I always said Adam Carolla, he was kind of the guy who made it huge,
- 14:09you know, but there are always different people that will put you,
- 14:12be that milestone or that stepping stone for you.
- 14:17You know, Tom Green was a huge stepping stone for Joe Rogan because he was the
- 14:21person that you could say almost set Joe Rogan in a perfect spot to do what
- 14:28he is doing and what he's done over the last 10 years.
- 14:30Because Tom Green put it in his mind that this is the new way,
- 14:34the new wave of communication and internet.
- 14:38Internet is just going to just change everything. The landscape,
- 14:42you know, it is open season. It is free game for anyone.
- 14:45Anyone can take it because of the internet, what we have.
- 14:49So there will not be another Joe Rogan. He is the king of podcasting.
- 14:53So I'll leave it at that. Have a great day, everyone.
