- 0:17Speaker 2: My guy high Tone is here.
- 0:19Speaker 1: Boom, what's up?
- 0:20Speaker 2: What's up? I just was on your podcast, the No
- 0:22Speaker 2: Lames podcast?
- 0:23Speaker 1: You were How are you been doing that since January? So?
- 0:27Speaker 2: But it was already a podcast before you were official.
- 0:30Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, And I got new year, new new things.
- 0:32Speaker 1: They wanted to kind of like just bring in like
- 0:35Speaker 1: some new talent, new hosts. And I've known Rocky since
- 0:38Speaker 1: for fifteen years now, so he's always told me, Bro,
- 0:43Speaker 1: try a podcast. Try And I'm like, Dog, I just
- 0:45Speaker 1: got so much on my plate that I didn't feel
- 0:48Speaker 1: like I could do it alone, right, you know, So
- 0:50Speaker 1: just jumping on board with two homies, I felt more comfortable.
- 0:53Speaker 1: It's been cool learning experience, Like I come into any situation,
- 0:58Speaker 1: I don't really know too much about it, and I'm
- 1:00Speaker 1: just soaked the game up? Dog in is it?
- 1:02Speaker 2: Uh? Once a week Thursdays.
- 1:04Speaker 1: Every Thursday, live on our YouTube channel, And Yeah, I
- 1:10Speaker 1: think the hardest part, BRO has just been juggling everything
- 1:13Speaker 1: dog because I you know, with the tatting and the
- 1:16Speaker 1: music and you know the things that I do, like
- 1:18Speaker 1: setting another couple hours aside Bro to do that at night.
- 1:22Speaker 1: It's it's that's been the difficult thing for me. Uh.
- 1:27Speaker 2: Obviously you've always tattooed. Would you say because we kind
- 1:32Speaker 2: of talked about this a little bit, you kind of
- 1:33Speaker 2: like I did. I don't. I'm gonna say you took
- 1:35Speaker 2: all the way to step back from music, but I
- 1:36Speaker 2: feel like you're a lot more active like ten years
- 1:38Speaker 2: ago maybe right, Yeah, I mean, I mean you just
- 1:40Speaker 2: put an EP out with Steels.
- 1:42Speaker 1: I've always I mean I've been consistent, like yearly putting
- 1:45Speaker 1: music out. But yeah, I mean there was a there
- 1:49Speaker 1: was moments in my career where I would drop three
- 1:51Speaker 1: four albums a year.
- 1:52Speaker 2: No, I'm saying there was like a point in time
- 1:53Speaker 2: where you were super super pressing the gas. Would you said,
- 2:00Speaker 2: what would is there something because I feel like you
- 2:02Speaker 2: got the itch again to like really go go in
- 2:04Speaker 2: like that because I just saw you were shooting content
- 2:06Speaker 2: with Gee Perico and yeah, would you say that, like,
- 2:10Speaker 2: what would would be the biggest uh inspiration, that kind
- 2:13Speaker 2: of because you say, we're going to talk about it
- 2:16Speaker 2: on the air.
- 2:17Speaker 1: Yeah, So I mean we you know, we were on
- 2:19Speaker 1: the podcast and you were like, you're not like, you know,
- 2:23Speaker 1: you didn't say it consistent. You're like, you're like, you know, you're.
- 2:25Speaker 2: Not consistent most other artists.
- 2:27Speaker 1: Here's the thing. I have twenty albums out on Spotify.
- 2:32Speaker 1: There's not too many artists that is even doing music
- 2:35Speaker 1: right now, Bro, that is in that category of consistency
- 2:38Speaker 1: and dropping music. You can't sustain that and withhold that
- 2:42Speaker 1: pressure for twenty years, dog for fifteen years. I mean
- 2:46Speaker 1: it's unheard of too, you know, drop that much music.
- 2:49Speaker 1: So when my foot was on the gas, Bro and
- 2:53Speaker 1: I was dropping three four albums a year, it was
- 2:56Speaker 1: just a stage in my life, Bro, where I felt
- 2:58Speaker 1: like music was the only thing on my mind and
- 3:03Speaker 1: that I could make money off of. And as I
- 3:06Speaker 1: got older, BRO, and realized the music game is pretty
- 3:09Speaker 1: much trash when it comes financially.
- 3:11Speaker 2: Yeah, you're really not gonna make any music. The catalog's
- 3:14Speaker 2: cool because you know, it accumulates and then you get
- 3:16Speaker 2: that nice monthly residual, but like in terms of like,
- 3:19Speaker 2: what streams actually pay you.
- 3:21Speaker 1: You're not gonna You're not buying a crib, You're not
- 3:24Speaker 1: not for sure. So as I got older, Bro, I
- 3:27Speaker 1: was like, man, like, I need to have my hands
- 3:31Speaker 1: in different baskets to accumulate one big part of the month. Dog.
- 3:35Speaker 2: So that's why most people should like, I think every artist,
- 3:39Speaker 2: no matter how big or small they are, should have that.
- 3:41Speaker 1: One thousand percent dog. And that's what I'm getting to like.
- 3:43Speaker 1: It may seem like I'm not as active musically, but
- 3:46Speaker 1: I just figured out how to do multiple things at
- 3:50Speaker 1: the same time. And when you do that, one thing's
- 3:53Speaker 1: gonna slack a little bit, whether that's tatting music. So
- 3:57Speaker 1: I'm making music money tattoo money.
- 4:00Speaker 2: But you also, like were slacking on the tattoo and
- 4:01Speaker 2: when you were full.
- 4:02Speaker 1: Of You're never ever gonna be one hundred percent into
- 4:05Speaker 1: one thing unless that's all you do.
- 4:06Speaker 2: Bro, And then like the tattoo game for you is
- 4:09Speaker 2: very very uh, it's lucrative. It's lucrative. Yeah, right, I
- 4:13Speaker 2: mean you're great at tatts, dude, Like thank you, Bro,
- 4:15Speaker 2: And like most people will be like, yeah, tattoo and
- 4:17Speaker 2: I'd be like, do you But.
- 4:20Speaker 1: I mean I was. I came from some of the greats, Bro.
- 4:24Speaker 1: I was able to be molded and and really learn
- 4:28Speaker 1: how to tattoo from the greatest out there. Bro. And
- 4:31Speaker 1: I mean I don't take that for granted. And it
- 4:33Speaker 1: was just another hustle dog to help me create music independently.
- 4:37Speaker 2: Bro.
- 4:38Speaker 1: I took that tat money and put it into rat money.
- 4:40Speaker 2: Right were you did you have to go through like
- 4:43Speaker 2: that whole Like what did they call it when you're
- 4:46Speaker 2: coming up as a tattooer.
- 4:47Speaker 1: Oh, you're the bitch of the shop.
- 4:49Speaker 2: What did they call it? Though?
- 4:49Speaker 1: Apprenticeship?
- 4:50Speaker 2: Yeah, apprenticeship, So you had to do all that, Yeah,
- 4:53Speaker 2: tattoo oranges and shit.
- 4:54Speaker 1: I mean back then, dog, it wasn't even about the tatting.
- 4:57Speaker 1: They wanted. They wanted to run you through the mud
- 4:59Speaker 1: and see if you it even surviving the game. Like
- 5:01Speaker 1: you're cleaning up piss and throw up from fools drinking,
- 5:04Speaker 1: you're dealing with the drunks that come. You're not learning
- 5:07Speaker 1: how to tat right away.
- 5:09Speaker 2: Right, They just got to see how serious you are
- 5:10Speaker 2: about wanting to be around it. There it is, Oh
- 5:12Speaker 2: and then maybe we'll teach you some share it is right.
- 5:14Speaker 1: There, So I went through the gut or Dog.
- 5:15Speaker 2: Are you would you say your specialties like black and white.
- 5:18Speaker 1: Black and gray, realistic? Yeah, you know, it's a It's
- 5:21Speaker 1: a big form of art now, Bro, you could see
- 5:24Speaker 1: everyone doing it. Dog. But you know, from learning back
- 5:28Speaker 1: then to learning now nowadays, dog kids got Internet, kids
- 5:31Speaker 1: got Instagram, kids got TikTok Bro. You can sit there
- 5:34Speaker 1: by your ship and be in your kitchen and learn
- 5:36Speaker 1: how to tat in a couple of months.
- 5:37Speaker 2: Dog, guys, people pull up because they found you on
- 5:39Speaker 2: TikTok it.
- 5:40Speaker 1: It's so different, Bro. Back then there was tattoo conventions.
- 5:44Speaker 2: For sure, they're coming back. They're coming back because my
- 5:51Speaker 2: boy just performed a one.
- 5:52Speaker 1: Yeah, they and they are coming back. But it kind
- 5:56Speaker 1: of was a dying kind of an event, you know,
- 5:59Speaker 1: for the last like eight years. Bro. You know, Instagram
- 6:02Speaker 1: came over and was like, Bro, that's your portfolio now.
- 6:05Speaker 1: Before Dog, when I was dropping my original first mixtapes,
- 6:09Speaker 1: me and Nipsey would be doing the same thing. Dog.
- 6:11Speaker 1: We'd hit a tattoo convention. He'd have homies put mixtapes
- 6:15Speaker 1: in his backpack. I'd have homies put mixtapes in my backpack.
- 6:18Speaker 1: And we were like the only rappers in that scene.
- 6:20Speaker 2: Dog.
- 6:21Speaker 1: Actually every boot you would see, you would see a
- 6:23Speaker 1: nit hustle and a high toned mixtape on every single
- 6:26Speaker 1: tattoo booth out there, like it was the start. It
- 6:29Speaker 1: was groundwork.
- 6:33Speaker 2: Yeah. No, I mean it's crazy too, because like that
- 6:35Speaker 2: world is like super it's like a niche world. But dude,
- 6:39Speaker 2: there's money in that shit. Like I've had homies who've
- 6:41Speaker 2: like made good money just you know, once or twice
- 6:45Speaker 2: a year. They're going to do their tour, but they're
- 6:47Speaker 2: also going to do some tattoo convention and some random
- 6:49Speaker 2: city and pick up a bag. What are your thoughts
- 6:53Speaker 2: of just like when you first got in to now
- 6:56Speaker 2: because I feel like you with the people you would
- 7:00Speaker 2: work with, some of the artists that you would be around,
- 7:03Speaker 2: and shots of Steels too, who's been killing it as
- 7:06Speaker 2: a producer. I mean that's how I found him through you. Yeah,
- 7:10Speaker 2: but I always felt like you were a dope rapper
- 7:12Speaker 2: who just happened to be Latino. And it feels like
- 7:16Speaker 2: nowadays like that is a positive when it comes to
- 7:19Speaker 2: like how the music business perceives artists, because it feels
- 7:23Speaker 2: like being a Mexican artist is hot right now, quote unquote,
- 7:27Speaker 2: the scene is growing a ton. What is your perspective
- 7:31Speaker 2: on what it was like getting into the game when
- 7:32Speaker 2: you did to just kind of seeing where we are
- 7:34Speaker 2: now in twenty twenty.
- 7:35Speaker 1: Four, it didn't exist really bro like it there. You know,
- 7:38Speaker 1: you had your your groups or you know, your your
- 7:42Speaker 1: your groups that were like Latino based or you know
- 7:45Speaker 1: your Cypress heels, your lighter shade of browns, your things
- 7:48Speaker 1: like that.
- 7:49Speaker 2: But when there was the other end, it was like,
- 7:50Speaker 2: you know, like record well.
- 7:52Speaker 1: Then you got you know, your little robs, your capone
- 7:54Speaker 1: these things like that. Yes, the industry didn't know how
- 7:58Speaker 1: to break a non Chicano rapper that wasn't from a hood,
- 8:03Speaker 1: wasn't rapping gang ship like, there was no real market
- 8:06Speaker 1: for that dog, I.
- 8:07Speaker 2: Mean is cap G. Atlanta Records had no idea what
- 8:10Speaker 2: to do a cab G.
- 8:11Speaker 1: He was. He was the first of its kind, bro
- 8:13Speaker 1: and you know he even had he had people like
- 8:15Speaker 1: FORU like co signing and had a lot of ouzzy
- 8:18Speaker 1: and bro like he was crossing that bridge. Even though
- 8:22Speaker 1: Atlanta is a little different, you know, or a lot
- 8:24Speaker 1: different than Southern Cali or La Bro like, different politics,
- 8:29Speaker 1: different situations, but the industry did not know what to
- 8:33Speaker 1: do with it, Bro, and it was it was an
- 8:35Speaker 1: uphill battle for me, Dog, Like I I fought that
- 8:39Speaker 1: every single day of my life. Dog. I mean, I've
- 8:41Speaker 1: had meetings with no Id, Bro. I had people that
- 8:44Speaker 1: were really, really, really really fans of what I was doing.
- 8:49Speaker 1: And even then, Bro, being that much of an influential producer,
- 8:54Speaker 1: you know, someone like no Id, Like, there was not
- 8:59Speaker 1: there was no gang plan.
- 9:00Speaker 2: For it, Bro, we don't know what to do.
- 9:01Speaker 1: We just we just don't, like, we don't know, you know.
- 9:04Speaker 1: And then it gradually. I think it just social media, Bro,
- 9:08Speaker 1: And just like there's a ton of Mexicans out here, Dog,
- 9:12Speaker 1: and talented ones. So I think it was just about
- 9:16Speaker 1: the world being able to see there was not just
- 9:18Speaker 1: a certain type of Mexican that the movies portray. Every
- 9:22Speaker 1: character in the movie is gonna be a similar character.
- 9:25Speaker 1: Like we had that stampoint.
- 9:28Speaker 2: What's the name of the actor, what's the name of
- 9:29Speaker 2: that actor who plays? Oh, he plays in every type
- 9:32Speaker 2: cast to do the ball, Dude, is it fast and
- 9:34Speaker 2: Furious and Hector Hector?
- 9:37Speaker 1: Yeah, it's it's He's Hector and every Yeah. So that
- 9:41Speaker 1: was that thing that we it was like we had
- 9:43Speaker 1: a hole that was created for us to try to
- 9:46Speaker 1: dig out of. And I think it's kind of here now. Brolight.
- 9:51Speaker 2: Also, like when we're talking about like the fastest growing
- 9:53Speaker 2: population in the country, if we're talking about like you know,
- 9:58Speaker 2: I think to like the younger generation of Chicanos or
- 10:03Speaker 2: Mexican population, they also like they grew up like like
- 10:08Speaker 2: now they're growing up listening to everybody, right, and so
- 10:13Speaker 2: I think they're like I feel like back in the day,
- 10:15Speaker 2: like you know, there wasn't for whatever reason, it was
- 10:19Speaker 2: just hard to have certain artists get embraced by that community.
- 10:24Speaker 2: I don't know what it was. I don't know if
- 10:26Speaker 2: it was like I just feel like nowadays, like people
- 10:29Speaker 2: are showing up, showing out like there's like fool, there's
- 10:31Speaker 2: like a full there's a wave dog, it's a wave,
- 10:34Speaker 2: and it's like an infrastructure where you have like blogs
- 10:37Speaker 2: that are big, you have food community, you got food's
- 10:42Speaker 2: gone wild and and you know even on the corrido,
- 10:47Speaker 2: shit like that shit taken off. And I think for
- 10:50Speaker 2: the top five streaming Latin artists are bad bunnies one
- 10:55Speaker 2: of them. The other four Mexican artists.
- 10:56Speaker 1: Yeah, Basol probably.
- 10:58Speaker 2: Pesol Pluma for the junior h and I forget the
- 11:05Speaker 2: other one. But it just shows you, like yo, it
- 11:08Speaker 2: almost like on a grand scale, world scale, like Reggaetone
- 11:13Speaker 2: was the most consumed Spanish music even in Mexico at times. Right,
- 11:18Speaker 2: So it's like now it's like, okay, well you know,
- 11:21Speaker 2: now you got these groups that are doing traditional corrido shit,
- 11:25Speaker 2: but they look like rappers. Yeah, so the young kids
- 11:28Speaker 2: are embracing that shit. They're like, this is dope.
- 11:30Speaker 1: If you can make people want to look like you, bro,
- 11:33Speaker 1: you're already on the right path for sure. You know
- 11:35Speaker 1: the images everything, bro, Like it used to be traditional,
- 11:39Speaker 1: the boots and the button ups, and it was like
- 11:42Speaker 1: some different type. Now, Bro, you wouldn't know if he's
- 11:45Speaker 1: a rapper for sure or or for sure you know,
- 11:48Speaker 1: in that genre of music, like right for you.
- 11:52Speaker 2: Being like where you're from, Like obviously Roddy Rax has
- 11:55Speaker 2: been doing this thing just the whole SGV is. I
- 11:57Speaker 2: feel like having a moment, you know, Lefty yourself, we
- 12:01Speaker 2: just had we just had Roddy racks up here not
- 12:04Speaker 2: long ago. You have it, you guys put a dope
- 12:07Speaker 2: record out too or no, no, no, I've heard it.
- 12:10Speaker 2: You said to me, Oh, wait a minute, are you
- 12:13Speaker 2: texting it? Yeah, but I don't know if I was
- 12:16Speaker 2: supposed to say that.
- 12:16Speaker 1: But you no, you're good. Yeah, that's coming out in
- 12:18Speaker 1: the next three four weeks. I got five albums done.
- 12:22Speaker 1: I worked all last year for this year.
- 12:26Speaker 2: So when you are you working with Steel? I mean,
- 12:29Speaker 2: obviously you just dropped the epeople Steels, but are you
- 12:31Speaker 2: kind of keeping it like the same team is that
- 12:34Speaker 2: we've kind of known you to be with everyone knows.
- 12:36Speaker 1: Yeah, when it comes up producing typically it Steals is
- 12:39Speaker 1: producing ninety nine percent of my shit just because it's
- 12:44Speaker 1: you know, other's dog like we don't we don't got
- 12:46Speaker 1: to go in there. And what do you no, Bro?
- 12:48Speaker 1: This how I'm feeling boom This how it's gonna feel like,
- 12:52Speaker 1: you know, it's plug and play with us?
- 12:53Speaker 2: Is everything gonna be solo stuff or is it any
- 12:56Speaker 2: other collab stuff?
- 12:57Speaker 1: Because nah, yeah, I got a couple. You know, I'm
- 13:02Speaker 1: down to, you know, continue like collaborating with like collab
- 13:05Speaker 1: project like drop the Calabby p Steals in Young Alb.
- 13:10Speaker 1: But there's not really no other like with another artist, bro.
- 13:14Speaker 2: Just you know, and you were just with ge Perico.
- 13:17Speaker 2: Was it in Palm Springs?
- 13:18Speaker 1: Yeah, Bro, we got this crazy airbnb fucking mean Steals
- 13:23Speaker 1: LB just you know, it was for Stell's birthday and
- 13:26Speaker 1: it was dope because we got to hang out, Bro
- 13:28Speaker 1: outside of the industry. Dog, you get to really get to.
- 13:32Speaker 2: Just talk, bro, Like we're not here for anything except
- 13:35Speaker 2: just to kick it.
- 13:35Speaker 1: Just hang out, bro, and you get to really like
- 13:37Speaker 1: know what people are on. Dog, Like some of us
- 13:39Speaker 1: have the same issues, complaints, same problems, same you know,
- 13:43Speaker 1: you just don't get that when you're in the studio
- 13:46Speaker 1: trying to cut records, you know, And I mean I
- 13:49Speaker 1: think that should be a little bit more done more
- 13:52Speaker 1: often with artists. Bro, everything just seems to be work.
- 13:55Speaker 2: You know what, though, I think it takes a guy
- 13:57Speaker 2: like Steals to bring people together. Yeah. Hey he's a
- 14:01Speaker 2: producer for a lot of people. Hey, I'm doing a
- 14:03Speaker 2: birthday ship. I'm gonna bring Yeah, he brought Yellow, you
- 14:06Speaker 2: know what I mean. It's like, you know, you kind
- 14:07Speaker 2: of need a catalyst to sometimes rappers aren't going to
- 14:10Speaker 2: just hang out on their own for the most part.
- 14:12Speaker 1: It's Yeah, it's just weird, Bro. It's because it's always
- 14:16Speaker 1: like some weird a competition competition thing.
- 14:20Speaker 2: It's like, dude, it's not that serious. Like, bro, people
- 14:24Speaker 2: like steals are needed. Yeah, one thousand, So you have
- 14:27Speaker 2: five albums done, done, and so what's the plan.
- 14:31Speaker 1: Here's the thing, Bro, Now in my career, I get
- 14:34Speaker 1: to do whatever the fuck I want.
- 14:35Speaker 2: Are you going straight? Distro Kid too.
- 14:38Speaker 1: I'm still an Empire Okay, I got a distro with them.
- 14:40Speaker 1: I'm not in recoop, don't owe them no money. So
- 14:43Speaker 1: it's pretty much just like a distro.
- 14:44Speaker 2: You're like one of the og Empire guys too.
- 14:47Speaker 1: Yeah, I would assume. I mean I brought that Tory
- 14:49Speaker 1: Lanes record to them when they.
- 14:50Speaker 2: Were was the twenty fourteen Yeah.
- 14:52Speaker 1: Twenty fourteen to fifteen. But uh yeah, I'm just with
- 14:57Speaker 1: them because we've We've done a lot of business, broke
- 14:59Speaker 1: a lot of bread and souper. We're cutting dry, dog, Like,
- 15:01Speaker 1: when I want to drop something, you drop it, and
- 15:04Speaker 1: if it does numbers and I need support, I can
- 15:07Speaker 1: always ask them for support.
- 15:08Speaker 2: Dog.
- 15:09Speaker 1: That's what I've what I've earned with them.
- 15:12Speaker 2: Though.
- 15:12Speaker 1: You know when you go to dishtro Kid, when you
- 15:14Speaker 1: go to Gentry over there, which doesn't gentry is Yeah,
- 15:17Speaker 1: you know, manage me for for some time and still
- 15:20Speaker 1: manages still, so everything's still there. The thing is is,
- 15:24Speaker 1: I don't have the pressure no more.
- 15:26Speaker 2: Dog Like like, I'm doing this because I want to
- 15:28Speaker 2: do it.
- 15:28Speaker 1: Because I love it, And when I don't do it,
- 15:31Speaker 1: there's an empty piece in me that's missing, dog and
- 15:34Speaker 1: that will affect my you know, being a brother, being
- 15:37Speaker 1: a husband, being a you know, a friend, Like I
- 15:40Speaker 1: something in me when it's when I'm not doing music,
- 15:43Speaker 1: I'm just not a happy person. And it doesn't need
- 15:45Speaker 1: to be I need to be the biggest artist in
- 15:48Speaker 1: the world anymore. Dog Like. I'm doing it for the
- 15:51Speaker 1: reasons because I because I just want to now, bro,
- 15:53Speaker 1: and enjoy it.
- 15:55Speaker 2: Explain to me your fitness journey, because you've gotten like
- 15:57Speaker 2: fucking you know, you're in good shape now. Yeah, Like
- 16:00Speaker 2: I feel like you were never like a fat guy,
- 16:02Speaker 2: you know, but I was.
- 16:04Speaker 1: It's crazy because you don't think you're sloppy until you
- 16:07Speaker 1: have something to compare yourself with. You get me, a
- 16:10Speaker 1: this car looks clean, but then when you wash the
- 16:12Speaker 1: car next to it, it looks dirty. So it's all
- 16:16Speaker 1: I did, Bro, I was sitting here like, man, I'm
- 16:17Speaker 1: getting I'm getting older, Bro, I have the things that
- 16:21Speaker 1: you know, a lot of people wishing dream for a
- 16:23Speaker 1: dog Like I want to be healthy too, Bro, you
- 16:27Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. And my boy Triple Og was
- 16:29Speaker 1: just like, dog like you got everything, Dog, Like, you
- 16:32Speaker 1: just need to get yourself right, take some time for you.
- 16:35Speaker 1: Tone like everything is always about business or this, or
- 16:39Speaker 1: take care of yourself because that's your vessel. Dog, And
- 16:42Speaker 1: I think that's what everyone misses here. Bro is like,
- 16:46Speaker 1: no matter, Dog, if you get a Lamborghini tomorrow, do
- 16:48Speaker 1: you gotta service it, Bro, the oil, the tires, things
- 16:51Speaker 1: gotta change, bro, or else it's going to fall the shit.
- 16:53Speaker 1: It doesn't matter how expensive it is or what you got,
- 16:56Speaker 1: It will fall apart if you don't take care of it. Yeah,
- 16:59Speaker 1: you know. So when you put that in my brain, Dog,
- 17:01Speaker 1: I was like, Ahi, Bro, I'm gonna try this. Dog.
- 17:03Speaker 1: I've tried everything else in my life. Like, let me
- 17:06Speaker 1: try to like get like in shape, right, because I
- 17:11Speaker 1: was always one of them fools Like, hey, Bro, I
- 17:12Speaker 1: don't really do this to get in shape, dog, I
- 17:14Speaker 1: just want to feel good. Like, but when you start
- 17:17Speaker 1: to see the change, your whole entire life changes, Dog,
- 17:21Speaker 1: like your confidence everything around you starts to get better.
- 17:24Speaker 2: Yeah, I feel like people will attempt to get into shape,
- 17:27Speaker 2: and it's usually the people who see the results who
- 17:30Speaker 2: stick with it, or at least they they started long
- 17:33Speaker 2: enough to see the results. Because once you start seeing results,
- 17:36Speaker 2: it becomes like I would maybe a little add and
- 17:39Speaker 2: so it's like, but most people don't make it to
- 17:42Speaker 2: that point exactly. They're not disciplined enough to realize, like
- 17:45Speaker 2: Rome wasn't built in one day. And you know, I
- 17:48Speaker 2: think with fitness and even a diet dude to me,
- 17:50Speaker 2: because the hardest thing.
- 17:51Speaker 1: Is d eating right.
- 17:53Speaker 2: And so it's like, if you could just stick with
- 17:56Speaker 2: a diet for like ninety days a month.
- 18:00Speaker 1: If you just do it, see thirty dog, You're going
- 18:03Speaker 1: to see it.
- 18:03Speaker 2: Yeah, for sure, you know.
- 18:05Speaker 1: And that's like that's anything thing.
- 18:06Speaker 2: This Like I've lost thirty pounds since probably May Wow,
- 18:10Speaker 2: just doing keto and I work out every day and
- 18:12Speaker 2: like I'm like getting like defining and getting a little
- 18:14Speaker 2: you know, I'm like fucking working out every day.
- 18:18Speaker 1: But you begin to enjoy it.
- 18:20Speaker 2: But it's funny too because then I also like psych
- 18:22Speaker 2: myself out because I see the results and I'm like, damn,
- 18:24Speaker 2: I'm kind of getting like defined and like, but I
- 18:26Speaker 2: also I'm like, fuck, I still got a little bit
- 18:29Speaker 2: of that belly still hanging dog, you know what I'm saying.
- 18:31Speaker 2: Like last night, I was in my garage, like because
- 18:33Speaker 2: I have a full little gym at the crib has
- 18:35Speaker 2: in my garage, like lifting wights in the mirror, and
- 18:38Speaker 2: I bent over to pick up a weight and I
- 18:39Speaker 2: looked over, I saw my belly and I.
- 18:41Speaker 1: Was like, fuck the hardest.
- 18:43Speaker 2: I I got more shit, I got more work to do,
- 18:45Speaker 2: you know. And then I was like damn, like because
- 18:47Speaker 2: I don't eat sugar anymore or carbs, and I was
- 18:53Speaker 2: but I do drink a ton of energy drinks and
- 18:57Speaker 2: I drink but I have like at least at least
- 19:04Speaker 2: five diet cokes a week. Okay, but I feel like
- 19:07Speaker 2: but I feel like when I'm looking at my belly,
- 19:09Speaker 2: I'm like, man, maybe I just need to go straight
- 19:11Speaker 2: water dog for like six months, Like I gotta stop
- 19:13Speaker 2: fucking with these energy drinks and maybe I just need
- 19:16Speaker 2: to just do water. I'm like, that belly shit bothers
- 19:18Speaker 2: me because I'm like, damn, I've been doing so yeah,
- 19:20Speaker 2: And I'm like you know, I'm getting a lot stronger,
- 19:22Speaker 2: like you know, but but but it's always there's always
- 19:25Speaker 2: work to be done. So what did you do? And
- 19:26Speaker 2: obviously you change your diet? Right, But then the triple
- 19:29Speaker 2: og guy who I got to meet, he's got a
- 19:31Speaker 2: big fitness page. He's like in the backyard doing burpes, like,
- 19:36Speaker 2: don't be a fucking pussy yelling at you. And so
- 19:41Speaker 2: what was like your regiment that you started to do that?
- 19:44Speaker 1: Like, it's it's not even the workout, dog, it's back
- 19:47Speaker 1: to the diet food. It's that if you can cut
- 19:49Speaker 1: out you're already cutting the sugar out, the carbs out,
- 19:52Speaker 1: it's the it's the fats with it too, in the
- 19:54Speaker 1: amount of protein that you're getting. It's a science. Dog Like,
- 19:58Speaker 1: once he broke it down to me, everyone always goes, dog,
- 20:02Speaker 1: I don't want to go on a diet because I
- 20:03Speaker 1: don't want to lose my strength. Well, bro, the minute
- 20:06Speaker 1: you go on a diet and lose your body fat
- 20:08Speaker 1: is then when you could start becoming to look really union,
- 20:11Speaker 1: you know. So it was just about cutting out my fat,
- 20:15Speaker 1: dog Like, I went from probably twenty four percent body
- 20:18Speaker 1: fat to five point four percent.
- 20:21Speaker 2: And that was you like you were still being able
- 20:23Speaker 2: to eat carbs though, like brown rice, so.
- 20:25Speaker 1: Very little, very little, you're talking about it maybe a
- 20:29Speaker 1: cup of.
- 20:29Speaker 2: Day, right, But and so from there you would high protein.
- 20:34Speaker 1: High protein, low calorie, low carb, low fat, done bro,
- 20:39Speaker 1: no sugar. It's that simple, bro.
- 20:41Speaker 2: And then what about what about your like how many days.
- 20:44Speaker 1: I'm working six five, six days a week and it's
- 20:47Speaker 1: really just high intensity, low weight, high rep bro, Like
- 20:50Speaker 1: none of this. I'm the strongest in the gym, bolt,
- 20:53Speaker 1: none of that, Bro. Just your heart needs to keep You.
- 20:56Speaker 2: Got to keep your heart ring for sure, Like I
- 20:58Speaker 2: always will do like if I'm working out I'll do
- 21:00Speaker 2: jump rope in between each set because I'm in my garage.
- 21:02Speaker 2: I don't give a fuck.
- 21:03Speaker 1: Yeah it doesn't. You're not in the gym.
- 21:04Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm not in the gym, like, hold on god.
- 21:06Speaker 2: So like in my garage, I'm just killing you know
- 21:08Speaker 2: what I mean?
- 21:08Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 21:09Speaker 2: So you and I see you do burpies and all that.
- 21:10Speaker 1: Yeah, so it's like if you're doing curls, bro, do
- 21:13Speaker 1: your curls and that thirty second break, dog, do burpies,
- 21:16Speaker 1: do pushups, do sit ups, do jump.
- 21:17Speaker 2: Keep your heart and then really, if you do that.
- 21:19Speaker 1: You really need to do thirty minutes, and you can
- 21:21Speaker 1: do that cardio, because that's cardio.
- 21:23Speaker 2: If you can do that thirty minutes straight and keep
- 21:25Speaker 2: your fucking heart rate that high for thirty minutes, Bro,
- 21:28Speaker 2: there's no excuse. You got the time you're yeah, yeah, no,
- 21:31Speaker 2: it's crazy. So when are you going to start? Obviously
- 21:34Speaker 2: said in a few weeks you're gonna drop the record
- 21:35Speaker 2: at Rowdy're like, what are you going to start rolling
- 21:36Speaker 2: out some of the new stuff?
- 21:37Speaker 1: I just rolled out the last project without being stills.
- 21:41Speaker 1: I'm going to wait about three four weeks, dog drop
- 21:44Speaker 1: the Rowdy single, drop this project off of the Rowdy single,
- 21:48Speaker 1: and then boom.
- 21:49Speaker 2: Now that Rowdy's dope. Dude.
- 21:51Speaker 1: Oh yeah, he's very very talented. Yeah, man, bro, and
- 21:56Speaker 1: not only just the rapping bro, he's a very smart, humble,
- 22:00Speaker 1: and intelligent person. When we got him on our podcast,
- 22:04Speaker 1: you can just tell.
- 22:05Speaker 2: Bro no, when we when we had him on the show,
- 22:07Speaker 2: I don't know what to think of the guy. You know,
- 22:08Speaker 2: I just liked him as I heard the record he
- 22:10Speaker 2: had with Dres and the record he had with Sugar Free,
- 22:12Speaker 2: and I was like, I like the way this dude
- 22:14Speaker 2: raps like he's fire. But then talking to him, I
- 22:17Speaker 2: was like, Oh, this dude's like like you said, he's
- 22:19Speaker 2: like a he's got a really great career ahead of him.
- 22:23Speaker 1: He does Bro, and good people around him, Bro, for sure.
- 22:25Speaker 1: You know he's got old trow Bro, he's got his
- 22:28Speaker 1: you know, his team. You know, Triple Og is from
- 22:31Speaker 1: that same cloth, in same hood. Like, there's a lot
- 22:34Speaker 1: of good people that you could look up to. Bro.
- 22:36Speaker 1: That's the difference. That's how people are gonna excel and
- 22:39Speaker 1: go to the next level. Who's around you, who's helping
- 22:43Speaker 1: you navigate through this? Fuck the bullshit? Bro?
- 22:46Speaker 2: Would you say that because you're kind of an og? Now? Yeah?
- 22:49Speaker 2: I feel like it's like you and yb out there
- 22:51Speaker 2: are like the ogs of the of the SGUV. Yeah
- 22:54Speaker 2: do you feel that?
- 22:56Speaker 1: I mean I do because of how I move around
- 23:00Speaker 1: my city.
- 23:00Speaker 2: Dog.
- 23:01Speaker 1: It's it's not about age, bro, because I know forty
- 23:05Speaker 1: five year olds that look twenty five, you know, yeah sure,
- 23:08Speaker 1: And I know twenty five that look forty five for sure. Like,
- 23:12Speaker 1: it's not about it's about how you move and what
- 23:15Speaker 1: have you been putting out? Dog, I got multiple businesses
- 23:17Speaker 1: in the city. I've employed kids that were going to college.
- 23:21Speaker 1: I've done it all there though, So when you think
- 23:23Speaker 1: of high tone, you think about OG because of what
- 23:27Speaker 1: I've done in the city, right, you know, And that's
- 23:30Speaker 1: what I consider an OG to me. Like, for sure,
- 23:33Speaker 1: someone that's just paved the way.
- 23:35Speaker 2: Bro, I'm thirty seven, and there are people who I'm
- 23:39Speaker 2: their OG, but they're like ten years older.
- 23:42Speaker 1: Because they're learning something from you. You brought something else, sure,
- 23:46Speaker 1: you know, So whoever's listening dog OG and age dog,
- 23:49Speaker 1: It's about the wisdom you have, who you surrounded yourself with,
- 23:53Speaker 1: and what accolades you have that that keep your name
- 23:56Speaker 1: and last name strong. Dog. It ain't how dope you
- 23:59Speaker 1: wrap it ain't, bro, it's what does that last name hold?
- 24:02Speaker 1: Right when you're gone, Bro, what are they gonna say
- 24:05Speaker 1: about you?
- 24:06Speaker 2: Right? You know? Yo, you were one of the earlier artists.
- 24:11Speaker 2: I remember being pretty vulnerable on records when it came
- 24:14Speaker 2: to like your addiction with pills. Yeah, depression, depression and
- 24:19Speaker 2: mental health and all that.
- 24:20Speaker 1: No one was doing that.
- 24:21Speaker 2: Nobody was doing that. And like fast forward to twenty
- 24:24Speaker 2: twenty four and like the issues that you were dealing
- 24:26Speaker 2: with have become obviously a fucking nationwide worldwide pandemic, right Like,
- 24:31Speaker 2: this is like kind of like the fuck covid, Like
- 24:35Speaker 2: that's the real pandemic of our time is fucking opiates,
- 24:38Speaker 2: you know, And so I wonder just for you, like
- 24:43Speaker 2: is it is it? I mean, obviously you stopped doing
- 24:45Speaker 2: drugs at the right time because fetanohl. Oh yeah, fetanyl
- 24:48Speaker 2: hadn't hit yet.
- 24:49Speaker 1: I probably Yeah. The amount of drugs, bro, that I've
- 24:54Speaker 1: done in my life. Bro, Like if the fentanyl you know,
- 24:57Speaker 1: epidemic was was then, Bro, it would be a fifty
- 25:01Speaker 1: Like it's.
- 25:01Speaker 2: To Yeah, It's like we're playing roulette with your life.
- 25:03Speaker 1: Every time and even still to this day, bro, Like
- 25:06Speaker 1: that ain't nobody perfect. Dog, there's times where you know,
- 25:09Speaker 1: you fall back into some of the things you said
- 25:12Speaker 1: you were never gonna do, dog in just it's just
- 25:14Speaker 1: Russian roulette right now, Dog, for sure.
- 25:16Speaker 2: I was gonna say for you though, like do you
- 25:19Speaker 2: feel like your you know, like you said you were
- 25:24Speaker 2: kind of one of the first artists that I remember
- 25:26Speaker 2: kind of talking about that outwardly. Is any of the
- 25:29Speaker 2: new music kind of touched on any of that? And
- 25:30Speaker 2: I'm sure you've dealt with people close to you maybe
- 25:34Speaker 2: losing their life or being wrapped up in what's going
- 25:37Speaker 2: on right now.
- 25:37Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean I have a sister that's you know,
- 25:41Speaker 1: in and out of addiction, you know, rehabs, things like that.
- 25:44Speaker 1: I mean, I've had family members, I've had homies at.
- 25:47Speaker 2: Od like I feel like everyone has now.
- 25:50Speaker 1: It's it's very more common than it was back in
- 25:53Speaker 1: the day. Dog. You know, it just is. Bro. I
- 25:56Speaker 1: don't know what that why that is, but you know
- 26:01Speaker 1: it's just. I mean, I touch on it all the time, Bro,
- 26:04Speaker 1: I even touch on it when I say, man, I'm
- 26:07Speaker 1: doing this and I know I'm not supposed to. Dog Like.
- 26:10Speaker 1: That's how real and honest I am with my music,
- 26:13Speaker 1: Like Homie like, I still fuck up right, I still
- 26:19Speaker 1: do things that I shouldn't be doing, dog Like. I
- 26:22Speaker 1: still fall back into my old ways, Bro, But that's life.
- 26:26Speaker 2: Dog for sure.
- 26:27Speaker 1: That was perfect. I ain't nobody perfect, dog, And I
- 26:31Speaker 1: hate to, like, you know, say, hey, Bro, I did
- 26:33Speaker 1: that in twenty sixteen and I stopped and I never
- 26:37Speaker 1: did it again. Bro, that's just not gonna be it.
- 26:39Speaker 2: Right.
- 26:40Speaker 1: It's something in me, Bro, like you know pop soules
- 26:43Speaker 1: an alcoholic bro Like, it's sometimes just in you, bro,
- 26:47Speaker 1: And thank god, I'm not the type of person that
- 26:51Speaker 1: gets easily addicted to things. And I know that when
- 26:54Speaker 1: something gets a hold of me. Dog, it could be
- 26:56Speaker 1: as simple as this, And I do this every month, Dog,
- 27:00Speaker 1: something that I feel that is taking control of me.
- 27:04Speaker 1: I nip it in the butt and say, you're not
- 27:06Speaker 1: doing that for a whole month. So it could be
- 27:08Speaker 1: a fun it could be poorn. Dog, I can be
- 27:10Speaker 1: like a dog.
- 27:11Speaker 2: Like I watch a lot of porn.
- 27:13Speaker 1: I'm watching too much, like what something's not right too much?
- 27:18Speaker 2: And people don't, I mean, people don't admit that's a
- 27:20Speaker 2: thing that can you. I mean it can affect your
- 27:23Speaker 2: relationship one percent. So then I'll sit here and go, Okay,
- 27:27Speaker 2: I'm doing this a little too much. Dog, tone you're not, don't.
- 27:29Speaker 2: You're not even allowed to do that for thirty days.
- 27:31Speaker 1: Yeah, And when you start like building your life around
- 27:35Speaker 1: that way, like it could be a coffee don't control
- 27:38Speaker 1: me either, dog, I'm not going to have an energy
- 27:40Speaker 1: drink for five days.
- 27:41Speaker 2: Dog.
- 27:42Speaker 1: Like you challenge your mind every week, Dog with something
- 27:45Speaker 1: that you think is controlling you. And if you can
- 27:48Speaker 1: like master that, your life will be a lot easier. Bro,
- 27:52Speaker 1: because there's nothing that's going to control you, not real
- 27:56Speaker 1: you're like training your own problems.
- 27:59Speaker 2: Like and it's almost also even if you feel like
- 28:02Speaker 2: you're going down a certain path like mentally like figure
- 28:05Speaker 2: out like try to be self aware enough to know.
- 28:08Speaker 1: Well, that's the start of everything. Dog, if you actually
- 28:11Speaker 1: sit here and go, I have a problem, that's the
- 28:14Speaker 1: number one start to everything. It's being honest with yourself.
- 28:17Speaker 2: Holding yourself accountable. There you go, yeah, because you go.
- 28:20Speaker 2: As you know, most people who are bad with drugs,
- 28:25Speaker 2: family members get frustrated because you're telling them, But it
- 28:28Speaker 2: doesn't matter if they are not acknowledging it themselves, you
- 28:32Speaker 2: know what I mean, Like you're just talking to a
- 28:33Speaker 2: fucking brick wall. At that point, you.
- 28:34Speaker 1: Know they will never get help, bro unless they want it.
- 28:37Speaker 2: How was getting married and how is being married change
- 28:41Speaker 2: your life?
- 28:43Speaker 1: I mean I've been with her what eighteen nineteen years?
- 28:46Speaker 1: We were together?
- 28:47Speaker 2: Yeah, but when you put a ring on that thing,
- 28:49Speaker 2: it changes things because they what you guys get Because look, man,
- 28:52Speaker 2: I've been in relationships, a specific relationship where we were
- 28:55Speaker 2: married for a very long time and then motherfuckers will
- 28:58Speaker 2: fight and then well once you fight, you could leave,
- 29:01Speaker 2: you know, go fuck off. Now once you're married, it's like,
- 29:04Speaker 2: well we can't go nowhere.
- 29:06Speaker 1: Well yeah, and you're not really gonna go and say,
- 29:09Speaker 1: you know, but it I think it just holds your
- 29:12Speaker 1: you know, you'd be way more responsible, bro, like you
- 29:15Speaker 1: think about Hey, bro, this isn't just my chick, this
- 29:18Speaker 1: ain't my lady. It's my wife.
- 29:20Speaker 2: Dog.
- 29:21Speaker 1: So with that word husband and wife come with a
- 29:24Speaker 1: lot more responsibility. Doesn't mean it's going to be pretty
- 29:27Speaker 1: and easy, dogs, you know.
- 29:29Speaker 2: Never it is. But everyone you know, marriage is one
- 29:32Speaker 2: of the hardest things in the world.
- 29:34Speaker 1: I think it. You're absolutely right, dog.
- 29:36Speaker 2: And people don't understand it. And and the thing is
- 29:39Speaker 2: is it's supposed to be hard. Hey, you're making it
- 29:42Speaker 2: as a musician. Was hard. Anything that's worth it, it's hard.
- 29:46Speaker 2: It's not supposed to be easy, dog Like at the
- 29:48Speaker 2: end of the day, like it is what it is like.
- 29:49Speaker 1: But I trip out on that, like you just said, Like,
- 29:52Speaker 1: the fools that I look up to and the fools
- 29:55Speaker 1: that I get a lot of my wisdom from are
- 30:00Speaker 1: homies that are married, dog, that have been with their
- 30:03Speaker 1: ladies fifteen years man, Right, why do you look up
- 30:06Speaker 1: to older people that because they know what you're about
- 30:11Speaker 1: to enter and what you're gonna go through. They've already
- 30:13Speaker 1: been there and did that. Sure, And it's most of
- 30:15Speaker 1: the time it's a married couple because they've learned so
- 30:20Speaker 1: much during that time. Bro. And it took a lot
- 30:22Speaker 1: of fight to stay together. Bro Right, because this world nowadays, Dog,
- 30:27Speaker 1: I see a girl on Instagram, she's at dinner on
- 30:30Speaker 1: a trip. Three days later, you know that the pictures
- 30:33Speaker 1: are deleted. She's on a new trip. Oh, Like you're
- 30:37Speaker 1: talking recycling all day long. This is just the new generation. Bro.
- 30:40Speaker 2: Oh, Yeah, it'd be tough, dude. If I wasn't with
- 30:43Speaker 2: my wife right now, I don't even know the amount
- 30:45Speaker 2: of like just fuck shit I would be participating in.
- 30:50Speaker 2: It would be it would be maybe terrible, honestly, you know,
- 30:54Speaker 2: And like that kind of shit feels like it's like
- 30:56Speaker 2: low hanging fruit shit, Like it's cool, but it's like
- 30:59Speaker 2: I can only image imagine what the shallow brained women
- 31:03Speaker 2: that our generation is producing. And I do mean that
- 31:04Speaker 2: with all due respect. Not all women are shallow brained,
- 31:06Speaker 2: but not all A lot a lot that the algorithm
- 31:10Speaker 2: feeds you. Yeah, you're like, there's no way every bitch
- 31:13Speaker 2: has a BBL.
- 31:14Speaker 1: But but that's what in your clone.
- 31:17Speaker 2: You're like, Jesus damn, why do these girls get money
- 31:20Speaker 2: to go on all these tricks? Oh, they're all just glorified.
- 31:22Speaker 1: Prostitutes, bro, glorified. Bro.
- 31:25Speaker 2: It's like you're you're a prostitute. You just don't want
- 31:28Speaker 2: to say it, and that's fine.
- 31:29Speaker 1: Yeah, it's just it's it's not in your bio yet.
- 31:31Speaker 2: Yeah, but like you're a prostitute and it's okay, But
- 31:34Speaker 2: that's what you're doing.
- 31:36Speaker 1: Bro. It's just it's the music. Bro, It's the way
- 31:39Speaker 1: the world is working right now. It's unbelievable. Dog, Yeah,
- 31:43Speaker 1: it's unbelievable. Bro. It's it starts from the music the movies,
- 31:47Speaker 1: like and you can't get away from a dog because
- 31:49Speaker 1: we knew what we were watching as kids. But you
- 31:52Speaker 1: realize why things are going the way they are.
- 31:54Speaker 2: You know what, when we were younger, it was a
- 31:56Speaker 2: lot easier to turn it off, right, Bro. You didn't
- 32:00Speaker 2: have a cell phone like this, That's what I mean.
- 32:02Speaker 2: Now it's you can't turn it off. Like I just
- 32:04Speaker 2: saw you posted that you turned your phone off.
- 32:05Speaker 1: Yesterday For the first time in my whole life, like
- 32:07Speaker 1: that for real?
- 32:08Speaker 2: How was that? It was for twenty four hours.
- 32:12Speaker 1: I literally text Stills on the way I say, hey, homie,
- 32:14Speaker 1: have you ever tried that? He's like nah, But I
- 32:16Speaker 1: was disgusted with my phone last night too. I'm like, Bro.
- 32:19Speaker 1: For some reason, when I opened up the Gramm in
- 32:21Speaker 1: the morning, and I don't know if it was because
- 32:24Speaker 1: I had drank the night before or I was a
- 32:26Speaker 1: little hung it was disgusting to me, doog And it
- 32:30Speaker 1: was like the weirdest thing that every five minutes in
- 32:32Speaker 1: the movie, I would go and look at nothing. But
- 32:36Speaker 1: I'm so trained to just go like.
- 32:38Speaker 2: This tells me I do that shit all the time.
- 32:40Speaker 1: And it was like, bro, shut it off. I put
- 32:43Speaker 1: it under the pillow, Bro, And I'd like, and if.
- 32:46Speaker 2: You really just just look at your screen time every
- 32:49Speaker 2: day like that shit will really make you be like fuck,
- 32:53Speaker 2: Like I spend more time looking at this than I
- 32:56Speaker 2: do anything else in my life. Life.
- 32:57Speaker 1: That's sad, bro, But it's it's just how could you
- 33:01Speaker 1: get away from it? Exactly?
- 33:03Speaker 2: Yeah, it's it's crazy, but but it is an addiction.
- 33:06Speaker 2: The algorithm, the swiping, Like what on board? I'm just
- 33:09Speaker 2: gonna open Instagram because that's what I do like this, Yeah,
- 33:12Speaker 2: or Twitter, whatever.
- 33:13Speaker 1: Whatever it is, it's called Twitter. Yeah, you can barely
- 33:16Speaker 1: go on that anymore.
- 33:19Speaker 2: Twitter's a wild place. I had to unfollow all the
- 33:22Speaker 2: porn stars because my Twitter, I could never open it
- 33:25Speaker 2: in front of my.
- 33:26Speaker 1: No, it's your suggested feet is straight porn.
- 33:30Speaker 2: What mine isn't anymore?
- 33:32Speaker 1: Mine still is.
- 33:33Speaker 2: But dude, dude, I used to get to the point
- 33:35Speaker 2: where I would open my Twitter like I'd opened up
- 33:37Speaker 2: my laptop and I open Twitter, and I was like,
- 33:41Speaker 2: I can't. I can't open Twitter in front of my
- 33:43Speaker 2: wife because she's gonna judge me, because it's just bitch
- 33:46Speaker 2: is getting fucked all over my feet.
- 33:48Speaker 1: Bro, this happened to me last night. You know, I'm
- 33:51Speaker 1: trip the fuck out. So we got lit. She left
- 33:55Speaker 1: her phone in the car and went upstairs and fell asleep, right,
- 33:59Speaker 1: and we had an early day movies or started drinking whatever.
- 34:02Speaker 1: We're home early eight o'clock. She had woken up about
- 34:05Speaker 1: midnight and she was fumbling around for her phone. Right,
- 34:08Speaker 1: I'm knocked the fuck out. She gets my phone to
- 34:11Speaker 1: call her phone, opens it up, and I had just
- 34:13Speaker 1: so happened to have Twitter on when she had knocked out,
- 34:17Speaker 1: so it's a wide open dog. So she was like, babe,
- 34:22Speaker 1: wake up, I need to find my phone whatever. And
- 34:25Speaker 1: then she found her phone, and right when she settled
- 34:27Speaker 1: back down, she goes, and why do you have all
- 34:30Speaker 1: kind of porn on Twitter? I knew you were a creep.
- 34:32Speaker 2: Bro. I remember one time I was out of town.
- 34:35Speaker 2: I was in Miami, and you know, my wife is
- 34:38Speaker 2: she doesn't go through my phone, and but but she
- 34:42Speaker 2: she went on my I don't know, she was tripping
- 34:47Speaker 2: at the time. It was one of them time.
- 34:49Speaker 1: Yeah, it just happened.
- 34:50Speaker 2: Yeah, And so from wherever we were, she went on
- 34:54Speaker 2: my Twitter and looked at who I was following. Yeah,
- 34:56Speaker 2: it was my Twitter, and she saw I was following
- 34:59Speaker 2: like hun of porn stars and she was like, yoh,
- 35:02Speaker 2: what the fuck is wrong with you? Like who are you?
- 35:05Speaker 2: And I was like, yo, you gotta understand, like I've
- 35:08Speaker 2: probably been following most of those the cows for like
- 35:10Speaker 2: ten years, and like you know, when you get a Twitter,
- 35:12Speaker 2: you just follow all the porn bitches like trying to
- 35:16Speaker 2: go through a cleanse all of my.
- 35:18Speaker 1: pH and got it. I gotta do that, bro.
- 35:20Speaker 2: No Twitter is fucking wild.
- 35:22Speaker 1: Bro, I gotta do that, bro, because and then the.
- 35:24Speaker 2: Other thing is like getting in the habit of like
- 35:26Speaker 2: when you're on Instagram, Like, dude, Instagram starting to feed
- 35:29Speaker 2: you wild shit even if you're not following them, Like dude,
- 35:32Speaker 2: you've seen like they're pushing porn pages on you on
- 35:35Speaker 2: ig like bitches with their camelton. I'm like, yes, I'm
- 35:37Speaker 2: blocking that.
- 35:38Speaker 1: Now there's nipples now, it's crazy.
- 35:40Speaker 2: It's crazy, and I'm like, yo, I don't even follow those.
- 35:42Speaker 2: Like if you look at my explore, it used to
- 35:45Speaker 2: be just women women right now it's it's it's it's
- 35:50Speaker 2: literally cars, podcasts, uh, wrestling, no bitches, Like there's no bitches,
- 35:59Speaker 2: but it used to be.
- 36:01Speaker 1: So you can actually like like cleanse your algorithm.
- 36:06Speaker 2: I've done it.
- 36:06Speaker 1: Yeah, So that means deleting, unfollowing, unfollowing the things you
- 36:12Speaker 1: really want to see.
- 36:13Speaker 2: You just got to stop following these bitches. Dog, It's tough,
- 36:17Speaker 2: but like, you got to stop following these bitches, man.
- 36:20Speaker 2: Like at the end of the day, you don't want
- 36:23Speaker 2: to double tap. You want to double tap, but you can't, man.
- 36:27Speaker 1: I'm legendary for double tap.
- 36:29Speaker 2: I bet, but you can't because because then this is
- 36:33Speaker 2: what the algorithm feature. Bro, I'm telling you my for
- 36:36Speaker 2: you was only whores for like a decade and now
- 36:41Speaker 2: it's just you know whatever.
- 36:43Speaker 1: Bro, You're on a good path right now, bro, dog.
- 36:46Speaker 2: Yeah. So it's like so it's like now it's like
- 36:49Speaker 2: my Twitter's like that too. So my Twitter's like new
- 36:50Speaker 2: ship sports news, you know, fucking the far left and
- 36:54Speaker 2: the far right at this point, Like fuck, when I'm
- 36:56Speaker 2: on Twitter, I'm like, Jesus, I just feel like I'm while, yes,
- 37:01Speaker 2: but but I don't see porn really on Twitter anymore.
- 37:04Speaker 1: Yeah, I got it. I'm gonna I'm gonna do a
- 37:06Speaker 1: little thing is a cleansing you. I'll start on my Twitter,
- 37:11Speaker 1: Yeah you got.
- 37:12Speaker 2: I mean yeah, that's the place to start. Twitter's fucked
- 37:14Speaker 2: for sure.
- 37:14Speaker 1: I don't start.
- 37:16Speaker 2: So for people who like, like, do you have a
- 37:19Speaker 2: tattoo shop or do you tattoo at the like appointment only?
- 37:22Speaker 2: Like what do you do?
- 37:22Speaker 1: It's a it's appointment only, bro. We have our our
- 37:25Speaker 1: shoe store and clothing store in the front, and then
- 37:29Speaker 1: we have two private studios in the back. I've been
- 37:32Speaker 1: with my boy King Lazy for damn near a decade now.
- 37:35Speaker 1: We've been working together he has his own room. I
- 37:37Speaker 1: have mine. He could watch what he wants. I could
- 37:40Speaker 1: listen to what I want. Our clients are separate, what.
- 37:43Speaker 2: Kind of like a consignment sneaker shop or kind of everything.
- 37:48Speaker 1: Yeah, we do all the like consignment, bisle trade. You know.
- 37:52Speaker 1: It used to just be all TFC for about seven years.
- 37:55Speaker 1: Dog was just my brand in there. After COVID, I
- 37:59Speaker 1: went to online own made it a lot easier for
- 38:02Speaker 1: me Dog you know.
- 38:03Speaker 2: Yeah, I noticed there's a guy from Glendale named Armeene.
- 38:06Speaker 2: He's an Armenian rapper and he has he had a
- 38:08Speaker 2: store in the line, but he was like after COVID,
- 38:11Speaker 2: he was like, we still have our stuff here, but
- 38:13Speaker 2: like we want to start selling sneakers. We got to
- 38:15Speaker 2: expand the business a little bit, you know, because there's
- 38:17Speaker 2: only so much you could do with your fans facts,
- 38:20Speaker 2: you know.
- 38:20Speaker 1: And luckily bro I was able to create some that
- 38:23Speaker 1: that didn't really like. Yeah, people know my brand from
- 38:26Speaker 1: my music a lot of it. But then there's people
- 38:28Speaker 1: that just know your brand, don't even like rap that
- 38:31Speaker 1: have the pyramid tattern on it right because of what
- 38:34Speaker 1: it stands for. Like, I was able to to create
- 38:38Speaker 1: something that's bigger than rap, bigger than high tone, bigger
- 38:41Speaker 1: than the SGV, bigger than It's a state of mind?
- 38:45Speaker 2: Bro, what you working with Tori? What was that like
- 38:49Speaker 2: and that what are your I mean, I still don't
- 38:52Speaker 2: think we know exactly what happened that night with him,
- 38:54Speaker 2: But you know, I had a good relationship with Tory
- 38:56Speaker 2: still do. I talked to him while he was in jail.
- 38:58Speaker 2: I don't know, maybe months ago. Uh. I know him
- 39:02Speaker 2: to be a good guy. Yeah, but you were working
- 39:06Speaker 2: with him pretty I mean, I mean he's he's in
- 39:09Speaker 2: for people wh don't know. He's a fucking quadruple G.
- 39:11Speaker 2: But that was around the time it started to kind
- 39:12Speaker 2: of turn for him commercially. Yeah, he did that record
- 39:16Speaker 2: on that on that Ygy.
- 39:17Speaker 1: Album, And I mean we caught him just at the
- 39:22Speaker 1: perfect time, bro. You know, like even when we were
- 39:25Speaker 1: going to radio because that I went to radio with
- 39:27Speaker 1: that record, bro, and it wasn't like having a crazy
- 39:33Speaker 1: big like people weren't like, oh we're playing this record
- 39:35Speaker 1: because you got to like fairly nude. Bro. It was
- 39:39Speaker 1: like it was almost like two new artists on the
- 39:41Speaker 1: same record, right, you.
- 39:42Speaker 2: Know, are you on the road with Brian Sampson at all. Yeah,
- 39:45Speaker 2: I'm sorry. I'm sorry.
- 39:47Speaker 1: I went in and out of fucking dog his damn bro.
- 39:51Speaker 2: What was it like being on the road with that
- 39:52Speaker 2: fat Filipino. Fuck?
- 39:55Speaker 1: Yeah, there's there's there was, there was some you know,
- 39:59Speaker 1: there was some good times.
- 40:00Speaker 2: Brian manages my radio show.
- 40:02Speaker 1: I don't fucking I have a bad taste when it
- 40:05Speaker 1: comes to radio. Dog. It's I've lost a ship ton
- 40:09Speaker 1: of money dependent money dog life.
- 40:11Speaker 2: You're talking radio because you think.
- 40:12Speaker 1: Hundred thousand, you know, six figure cash, bro, that I've
- 40:16Speaker 1: with my own money.
- 40:20Speaker 2: About radio, right, is a couple of things. One, if
- 40:23Speaker 2: you're independent, don't worry about it, don't even try it.
- 40:26Speaker 2: It's expensive. Two, it is the final step of your career. No,
- 40:31Speaker 2: it's a final step of like let's say you got
- 40:34Speaker 2: a record and it starts to go crazy on TikTok
- 40:36Speaker 2: and final stream. The last thing you worry about in
- 40:39Speaker 2: that equation is radio. It's the very last thing. It
- 40:42Speaker 2: is a very competitive business. You are competing in every
- 40:47Speaker 2: whatever market station it is. You're competing for a spot
- 40:51Speaker 2: on that playlist with whoever is hot at the time,
- 40:55Speaker 2: and it's it's just it is. It is an important
- 40:59Speaker 2: step in the process. If you want to be a superstar,
- 41:02Speaker 2: if you want a number one on Billboard, you gotta
- 41:03Speaker 2: have radio play. But it is not necessary. And if
- 41:07Speaker 2: you're an independent artist, if someone tries to crack you
- 41:10Speaker 2: upside the head for thirty grand to work a record
- 41:12Speaker 2: of radio, take that thirty thousand dollars and shoot fucking
- 41:15Speaker 2: twenty music video.
- 41:16Speaker 1: Yes, hey, man, bro do literally anything.
- 41:19Speaker 2: Huh.
- 41:20Speaker 1: I've ran. I mean, I'm glad dog that I've had
- 41:24Speaker 1: the opportunity to like understand it, because most don't even
- 41:28Speaker 1: understand broke. A regular consumer listener, they have no idea
- 41:33Speaker 1: what radio is. Most artists, bro don't really know how
- 41:37Speaker 1: radio works.
- 41:38Speaker 2: And most artists think that like if someone plays you
- 41:40Speaker 2: one time on like a Sunday night at like PM,
- 41:43Speaker 2: it's not going to change their career. And it's like, dude,
- 41:45Speaker 2: like that's not how the shit works anymore. Now, maybe
- 41:48Speaker 2: you know, fifteen years ago, ten years ago, radio had
- 41:50Speaker 2: a lot more I would say fifteen years ago, radio
- 41:52Speaker 2: had a lot more ability to break an artist. But
- 41:57Speaker 2: now we're the last step in that development. Yeah, you know.
- 42:00Speaker 1: I like how you said that last step though, because
- 42:03Speaker 1: I think people need to hear that artists need to
- 42:05Speaker 1: hear that like the last step to worry about because fans, bro,
- 42:09Speaker 1: like the first thing they do is go, man, bro, like,
- 42:12Speaker 1: your music is so much better than what's on the red.
- 42:14Speaker 1: Like you don't realize, dog, it's not what you think
- 42:18Speaker 1: it's not.
- 42:19Speaker 2: And you'll know if it's time to go to the
- 42:22Speaker 2: radio it because if your shit is that hot organically,
- 42:27Speaker 2: you'll probably start getting some love locally, actually if it.
- 42:32Speaker 2: And and that's because you're going to force that. And
- 42:34Speaker 2: then and then you're like, okay, well maybe we need
- 42:35Speaker 2: to explore this. But even then your ROI as an
- 42:40Speaker 2: independent artist on a radio promotional run, it's just not there, dude.
- 42:46Speaker 2: Look at the end of the day, a million streams
- 42:49Speaker 2: is thirty eight hundred dollars and some change, man. And
- 42:53Speaker 2: and you know, if you're not using your music as
- 42:56Speaker 2: the vessel to monetize everything else outside of what is
- 42:59Speaker 2: uploaded to disjoc kid or em buyer whatever, then you're fucked.
- 43:03Speaker 2: Because it can't just be the or unless you're a
- 43:06Speaker 2: high catalog artist, you know, but it can't just be
- 43:09Speaker 2: I put an album out and then I'm hoping that
- 43:13Speaker 2: lightning strikes and it goes crazy.
- 43:16Speaker 1: No. I mean, if there's any advice BRO to people
- 43:19Speaker 1: out there that are, you know, just starting out music
- 43:21Speaker 1: even been in the game for a few years, still
- 43:23Speaker 1: trying to learn the business. Like you're building a brand, Bro.
- 43:27Speaker 1: If you can't build.
- 43:28Speaker 2: It and then you can monetize the brand, If.
- 43:30Speaker 1: You can build a brand and businesses around your name,
- 43:35Speaker 1: then it Then the music is the It's the driving
- 43:38Speaker 1: vessel because when you're hot and when you're.
- 43:42Speaker 2: Doing you know, it's like it's the vehicle.
- 43:44Speaker 1: But you gotta your hands, gotta be indifferent.
- 43:47Speaker 2: You gotta start businesses, you gotta go on do shows,
- 43:50Speaker 2: you gotta there's just it's got to be the vessel
- 43:52Speaker 2: to everything else exactly. And like you know, you might
- 43:55Speaker 2: win the lottery and catch a real hit and then
- 43:59Speaker 2: it's that's.
- 43:59Speaker 1: Good too, that's amazing.
- 44:02Speaker 2: So your EP with LB and Steals is out, and
- 44:05Speaker 2: then you have you say, the new record with Rody
- 44:08Speaker 2: Racks coming out two or three weeks.
- 44:10Speaker 1: Yeah, you got to we're just trying to shoot the
- 44:12Speaker 1: video for that first, because I've always I've done that,
- 44:15Speaker 1: bro multiple times. Or you drop the record, Oh, we're
- 44:17Speaker 1: gonna do the video and then the video don't happen
- 44:19Speaker 1: for three four months and now it's over.
- 44:21Speaker 2: Then it's over.
- 44:21Speaker 1: Yeah, you gotta have the assets in your hand nowadays, dog,
- 44:24Speaker 1: because the attention span is so so just quick.
- 44:29Speaker 2: And then the album's coming soon after.
- 44:32Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm just doing once you hear the first single
- 44:34Speaker 1: to whatever project, the project will drop in four weeks
- 44:36Speaker 1: after that.
- 44:37Speaker 2: And then the podcast is on.
- 44:39Speaker 1: Thursdays, No Lames podcast, g Money Rocky.
- 44:43Speaker 2: That g Money guy's hilarious.
- 44:45Speaker 1: He's a food that he's got a stand up coming up.
- 44:48Speaker 1: He's gonna open up for George Perez. We're also locking
- 44:52Speaker 1: in the date for another sold out Laugh Factory show.
- 44:55Speaker 2: Yeah, you did that as a podcast.
- 44:57Speaker 1: Yeah, we did three back to three shows, sold out.
- 45:01Speaker 1: Kind of did something that no one's done. Bro Cup
- 45:03Speaker 1: comedy podcast and music, and I always performed the set off.
- 45:07Speaker 2: I think it's cool too, because you guys really have
- 45:09Speaker 2: your You guys really have your fucking area on lock bro,
- 45:14Speaker 2: like your community supports the fuck out of y'all for real.
- 45:16Speaker 1: Over there, I'm actually opening up a new business with
- 45:20Speaker 1: my wife on the same street of Lap Factory in
- 45:24Speaker 1: downtown Covina called the South Caro Lounge and it's it's
- 45:30Speaker 1: a med spall. We're gonna be doing medical weight loss,
- 45:33Speaker 1: We're gonna be doing ivy drips, We're gonna be doing
- 45:35Speaker 1: body contouring, lashing. I mean, we're doing it all there.
- 45:39Speaker 2: Bro.
- 45:39Speaker 1: I've been working on it for the last six months.
- 45:42Speaker 1: Construction got done this week and we're gonna start cosmetic
- 45:45Speaker 1: next week and we should be open like second week
