Transcript
- 0:06[SPEAKER_00]: Texanville Jaguar's fans, welcome in to Duval Daily, presented by jingag.com.
- 0:10[SPEAKER_00]: I'm Jordan Aluga, thanks so much for being here Friday, November 7th.
- 0:13[SPEAKER_00]: We're getting ready for Jaguars and Texans in Houston.
- 0:17[SPEAKER_00]: Jaguars looking to sweep the Texans for the first time, since 2017, what a fun year.
- 0:24[SPEAKER_00]: That was for Jaguars fans.
- 0:26[SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, trying to complete the sweep,
- 0:30[SPEAKER_00]: It's kind of crazy that the Jack Wars are playing the Texans for the second time this year, and they haven't played the culture of the Titans at all, so far this year, both of those games, or all four of those games against the Colts, and the Titans are late-season games for the Jack Wars, interesting the way the schedule worked out.
- 0:50[SPEAKER_00]: But the Jack Wars, this is a must-win game in my opinion, because
- 0:57[SPEAKER_00]: The Texans are down.
- 0:59[SPEAKER_00]: They're starting quarterback.
- 1:00[SPEAKER_00]: This is an opportunity to get to six and three an opportunity to get closer to the Annapolis Colts in the division, keep pace with the Colts in the division.
- 1:11[SPEAKER_00]: We have a tougher road ahead.
- 1:13[SPEAKER_00]: It's a must win game because the Jag wars believe that they can win the division.
- 1:19[SPEAKER_00]: And their goal internally is to win the division.
- 1:21[SPEAKER_00]: If your goal is to win the division, this is a must win game.
- 1:26[SPEAKER_00]: point blank.
- 1:27[SPEAKER_00]: Period.
- 1:29[SPEAKER_00]: Now, is it possible you could still win the division if you lose this game?
- 1:33[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 1:34[SPEAKER_00]: Well, it make it very difficult, especially if the cult beat the Falcons on Sunday.
- 1:39[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 1:40[SPEAKER_00]: So, I think it's a must win game.
- 1:42[SPEAKER_00]: And now we have some must win matchups for this Jaguars and what I believe is a must win game.
- 1:47[SPEAKER_00]: We're going to dive into it.
- 1:48[SPEAKER_00]: Really appreciate y'all be in here.

- 1:56[SPEAKER_00]: right now every order comes with one of these little holographic jaggy stickers absolutely love them jing jack dot com really appreciate y'all support so we're gonna get into matchups and and these are matchups that I believe have a strong chance to have a major impact on the game and um
- 2:18[SPEAKER_00]: You know, it's impossible to predict exactly how a game will go.
- 2:23[SPEAKER_00]: The flow, the big plays, the game-changing moments, right?
- 2:28[SPEAKER_00]: But I believe these are the matchups that have the highest chance of being super important towards the outcome of this game.
- 2:37[SPEAKER_00]: So we're going to dive into it.
- 2:39[SPEAKER_00]: And I look at it and I want to start on offense.
- 2:45[SPEAKER_00]: Anton Harrison, he needs to play Wellverse Will Anderson, and he's done that throughout his career and his play on the right side of the Jaguar's offensive line, both as a run-blocker and pass protector, and my opinion has been huge for the Jaguar this year.
- 3:04[SPEAKER_00]: It hasn't been perfect every game, and I think the entire offensive line had its struggles against the Seahawks and
- 3:15[SPEAKER_00]: You've seen Anton Harrison play really, really clean football for most of the year, and he's been getting the job done in past protection, which was his calling card, but also as a run blocker, he's really doing a good job with the effort in the run blocking department, the assignment sound football in the run blocking department, and I've really noticed his
- 3:46[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, the run is supposed to go to, you know, my inside foot or wherever it may be, where he needs to position himself to make sure that the edge player he's trying to block or whoever it may be is in a disadvantageous situation and position to make a play.
- 4:04[SPEAKER_00]: And I think that that's been a big part of his development as a run block or this year.
- 4:08[SPEAKER_00]: Will Anderson's a great player?
- 4:10[SPEAKER_00]: They've not up against each other a lot.
- 4:15[SPEAKER_00]: gotten the better of Willie Anderson, especially in past pro, I think they've kind of still made it a good bid in the run game.
- 4:23[SPEAKER_00]: Might even give the advantage to Willie Anderson, but I think that Anton vs. Willie Anderson is just, it's a great matchup, and you can't let Willie Anderson defeat you.
- 4:34[SPEAKER_00]: You'd say the same thing about Daniel Hunter, I think Anderson's a better player, I think he's a more important player, he's also dealt with injury this week, he was limited
- 4:45[SPEAKER_00]: for the Texans, obviously, if not this matchup goes away.
- 4:51[SPEAKER_00]: But we've also seen the Jaguar as being able to execute in pass protection with Walker little not being his best.
- 4:58[SPEAKER_00]: And Walker little hasn't been his best for a lot of the year, but they do need Anton Harrison to be his best in my opinion, to be able to really give Trevor Lawrence some time in this game.
- 5:11[SPEAKER_00]: On the other side of the ball,
- 5:13[SPEAKER_00]: Nico Collins is really the...
- 5:17[SPEAKER_00]: Most dangerous offensive weapon that the Texans have, he's certainly not the only one and we'll talk about some other things here, but Buster Brown and Greg knew some on the outside.
- 5:27[SPEAKER_00]: Hopefully not in a lot of man situations against Nico Collins, but in zones, in zone match situations when they get one on one with Nico Collins, they have to be able to make plays.
- 5:39[SPEAKER_00]: And the Jack Wars this year in general have struggled to stop the opposing teams best offensive weapon,
- 5:47[SPEAKER_00]: Brock Bowers, Jamar Chase, Jackson Smith and Jigba, the list goes on and on, right?
- 5:54[SPEAKER_00]: Buster Brown, I think, is playing good ball.
- 5:57[SPEAKER_00]: I think Greg Newsom's playing good ball as well.
- 6:00[SPEAKER_00]: They need to do a good job against Nico Collins, and it's not all on them, but they are going to have the biggest job to do against Nico Collins.
- 6:08[SPEAKER_00]: And there's talented receivers
- 6:14[SPEAKER_00]: But Nico's the one you can't let him kill you.
- 6:17[SPEAKER_00]: I also think, you know, when you look at Jari and Jones, probably starting a Jordan Lewis deal with the shoulder injury Jari and Jones in the slot.
- 6:26[SPEAKER_00]: He has to, in my opinion, have a positive overall impact.
- 6:29[SPEAKER_00]: He doesn't need to be perfect, but what Jarian Jones brings to the field is athleticism, physicality, feistyness.
- 6:36[SPEAKER_00]: Can he bring all those, not have any major issues, not have like multiple passenger clearance calls, not have a big passenger clearance call in a big moment, and just bring that energy that we know him for.
- 6:50[SPEAKER_00]: If he can do that against Christian Kirk, against Jalen Null,
- 6:54[SPEAKER_00]: That's going to be really big for the Jaguars.
- 6:58[SPEAKER_00]: No decision.
- 7:01[SPEAKER_00]: Josh Hines Allen, on that defensive side of the ball, for his area on territory.
- 7:06[SPEAKER_00]: I know a lot of folks have been given Josh Hines Allen flat this year.
- 7:10[SPEAKER_00]: I really don't know why.
- 7:11[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I do know why.
- 7:12[SPEAKER_00]: It's because he doesn't have like a ton of sacks, but he has had such a big impact.
- 7:18[SPEAKER_00]: And you just look at his game against the Houston Texans in week three.
- 7:25[SPEAKER_00]: as one of those games where he only had to have a sack right but he made the game ceiling play by getting his hand on the football as CJ Stroud was trying to release it popped it up Antonio Johnson got under it and and that's game basically Josh Heinz Allen has been playing great football.
- 7:46[SPEAKER_00]: I want to see him break the all-time sack record for the
- 7:51[SPEAKER_00]: He has a great opportunity to do that against Arionte Ursary.
- 7:55[SPEAKER_00]: If he's not able to get pressure, where is it going to come from consistently?
- 8:00[SPEAKER_00]: That's the problem with the Jaguar's past rush right now.
- 8:02[SPEAKER_00]: Your hopeful Trayvon Walker gets it going.
- 8:06[SPEAKER_00]: Titus Howard might not play, but even if Titus Howard doesn't play at right tackle, where Trayvon Walker aligns a lot of the left defensive end going up against the right tackle, Blake Fisher is a capable player as well.
- 8:22[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if three of ones going to show out like he hasn't really shown out a lot since his wrist injury happened.
- 8:28[SPEAKER_00]: He had some big games early on, but since that wrist injury hasn't done much.
- 8:32[SPEAKER_00]: So
- 8:35[SPEAKER_00]: I think a lot of it's on Josh Hinds Allen, Eric Armstrong said he needs to do some things and he's been a consistent volume shooter for the Jaguar so far this year.
- 8:42[SPEAKER_00]: What I mean by that is he's not like making a massive impact down to down, but he's able to make splash plays get into the backfield enough to make an impact for the Jaguar
- 8:56[SPEAKER_00]: Josh Heinz Allen, when Davis Mills drops back to pass, you got to make a big impact and I think he will, you know, like I said, had a big game against the Texans last time.
- 9:05[SPEAKER_00]: I love the way he defends the run.
- 9:07[SPEAKER_00]: That's one thing you can definitely say about Heinz Allen and Trayvon Walker, great run defenders.
- 9:12[SPEAKER_00]: And I think the Jaguars will do a good job in the run defense department.
- 9:17[SPEAKER_00]: Now on the other side of the ball,
- 9:21[SPEAKER_00]: Well, let's stick with my last defense of one and then switch back to the offensive side level.
- 9:25[SPEAKER_00]: My last defense of one is Anthony Camponele and his plan for how to defend Dalton Schultz who isn't a dynamic dynamic Titan, but he's a good talented Titan.
- 9:37[SPEAKER_00]: is a productive player.
- 9:39[SPEAKER_00]: The Jack Wars over the last four games against the Chiefs, the Raiders obviously last week and the Seahawks and Rams in between, have allowed an average of over 100 yards per game to opposing tight ends.
- 9:55[SPEAKER_00]: That's an insane stat, insane.
- 10:00[SPEAKER_00]: The chiefs, Travis Kelsey had a game against the jacks.
- 10:05[SPEAKER_00]: The C-Hawks had multiple guys having impressive performances against the jacks, so did the Rams.
- 10:11[SPEAKER_00]: And then obviously Brock Bower went off, but also Michael Mayer had some catches against the jacks.
- 10:17[SPEAKER_00]: So he's got to have a better plan for his defense.
- 10:21[SPEAKER_00]: to deal with the opposing tight end.
- 10:25[SPEAKER_00]: They got to.
- 10:27[SPEAKER_00]: And, you know, guys have to execute sure, but you gotta have a different plan.
- 10:33[SPEAKER_00]: Something's got to change when it comes to dealing with tight ends.
- 10:36[SPEAKER_00]: Because it hasn't mattered if it's a Brock Bower's ultimate weapon X type of tight end or, you know, more of a balanced tight end or even a B.
- 10:46[SPEAKER_00]: more of a wide tie-dend, they've been eating against the Jaguars and Dalton Schultz can do that.
- 10:51[SPEAKER_00]: So, they've got to figure that out in my opinion.
- 10:53[SPEAKER_00]: On offense, I think Parker Washington needs to play well versus whoever is in the slot.
- 11:02[SPEAKER_00]: Whether that be J. Lim Petrie who hasn't practiced yet this week, I don't believe, or MJ Stewart, who I think would man the slot, a lot if Petrie can't play.
- 11:12[SPEAKER_00]: Both of those guys can get the job done, but Parker Washington can get the job done too.
- 11:17[SPEAKER_00]: And he's got to, in my opinion, have a pretty big game for the Jack Wars, and he doesn't have to haul in eight of nine targets, like he did last week for 90 yards, but when his number is called, I think he needs to be reliable for them.
- 11:31[SPEAKER_00]: because he is the one who has the most rapport with Trevor Lawrence.
- 11:35[SPEAKER_00]: Now you might have Naomi Brown back.
- 11:37[SPEAKER_00]: Again, still does not have more rapport with Trevor Lawrence than Parker Washington does.
- 11:42[SPEAKER_00]: You have Jacobi who I think is going to be great addition for the Jaguars.
- 11:48[SPEAKER_00]: You have Tim Patrick back, but again, Parker is the one who I think has the most rapport.
- 11:56[SPEAKER_00]: And you also look at the fact that he probably has a better matchup on paper than Jacobi Myers versus Derek Stingley or Jacobi Myers versus Camaro Lacitor or Tim Patrick or Deami Brown versus one of those two guys.
- 12:10[SPEAKER_00]: Parker probably needs to have himself a pretty good game for the Jaguar's passing offense to kind of execute at a high level.
- 12:19[SPEAKER_00]: And speaking of that,
- 12:21[SPEAKER_00]: Not only in the run blocking department, but also on screens and in quick game stuff.
- 12:27[SPEAKER_00]: Johnny Munt, Quentin Morris, if he's out there a lot, Tim Patrick, Parker Washington, Jacobi Myers, block your asses off.
- 12:35[SPEAKER_00]: You've got to be able to block in a big way in my opinion.
- 12:38[SPEAKER_00]: That's going to be a big matchup, just those perimeter blocking assignments in the run game and
- 12:45[SPEAKER_00]: And in the quick passing game, I think that could be really big for the Jaguars in this one.
- 12:52[SPEAKER_00]: Physical defense they're grown up against.
- 12:55[SPEAKER_00]: And then finally, the biggest matchup every single week, the mental battle, pre-snap.
- 13:01[SPEAKER_00]: Jaguars versus Jaguars, can they get it together and stop putting themselves behind the chains, stop negating big plays on the offensive side of the ball, all those things.
- 13:13[SPEAKER_00]: If they can, if they can do a lot of these things, if they went a lot of these matchups, I think that they could potentially have themselves a really impressive outing.
- 13:23[SPEAKER_00]: If not, it's gonna be a dogfight.
- 13:27[SPEAKER_00]: It's used in Texans who were three and five without their starting quarterback.
- 13:30[SPEAKER_00]: Let me know what you're looking at in the comment section below.
