- 0:56Speaker 1: Speaker 2 4th. Speaker 2 4th. Speaker 2 4th What
- 0:58Speaker 1: did I do last week? I'm like, did I screw up?
- 1:00Speaker 1: I just totally missed it, but we caught it there
- 1:03Speaker 1: at the end.
- 1:03Speaker 3: I could just tell you started checking your phone. Like
- 1:06Speaker 3: I was really getting into the meat of my analysis.
- 1:08Speaker 3: You started checking your phone. I think you tripped. I
- 1:12Speaker 3: think you cut my mic off at one point. Focus, focus,
- 1:15Speaker 3: focus the whole time.
- 1:16Speaker 1: I checked out, let Musso ask a few questions.
- 1:19Speaker 2: Yep.
- 1:19Speaker 3: Yeah, he brought him in and then you took him
- 1:22Speaker 3: back out.
- 1:23Speaker 1: He immediately fumbled that first question. It was really bad
- 1:26Speaker 1: the way that went. My goodness. Hey, were you, like,
- 1:30Speaker 1: I've asked everybody this week, Mike, we know how hard
- 1:35Speaker 1: it is to win in the NFL. It is just
- 1:37Speaker 1: an objective. It is so hard to win a game
- 1:40Speaker 1: in this league. And so I hate to be here
- 1:43Speaker 1: after a win and complain. But how do you feel
- 1:46Speaker 1: good after that?
- 1:50Speaker 3: You can still feel good because you survived it. I mean,
- 1:53Speaker 3: at a certain point, you just have to keep your
- 1:58Speaker 3: season alive to hope it can turn into something, and
- 2:02Speaker 3: you needed the win to do that, and now they
- 2:05Speaker 3: have to win this one. And if they can come away,
- 2:09Speaker 3: if they can fly back from France at 3-4 and
- 2:13Speaker 3: have a bye week and have guys getting healthy, they
- 2:16Speaker 3: can either realistically or at least trick themselves into, like,
- 2:20Speaker 3: you know, rallying around something. So the win, the win
- 2:23Speaker 3: really did matter, even though, even though it was almost
- 2:26Speaker 3: a colossal failure. It also was very, very important before
- 2:29Speaker 3: getting on that plane to be getting on the plane
- 2:32Speaker 3: after a win to spend this week in Paris, promoting
- 2:36Speaker 3: the team, promoting like, I mean, it was so important
- 2:39Speaker 3: to win. Um, but it was, it was one play
- 2:42Speaker 3: away from like, uh, I mean, everything would have been
- 2:50Speaker 3: on the table, like firing people on the way to Paris,
- 2:54Speaker 3: like not promoting the game. All the questions being about
- 3:00Speaker 3: one of the more embarrassing losses in franchise history.
- 3:03Speaker 2: I mean, it was scary.
- 3:04Speaker 3: I would say more than it took away from the wind.
- 3:06Speaker 3: It was just really, really scary. And they were able
- 3:10Speaker 3: to be like, you know, one of those moments like,
- 3:12Speaker 3: oh my gosh, thank goodness I swerved over. That could
- 3:14Speaker 3: have been really, really bad.
- 3:17Speaker 1: Did you see... Did you see the post-game locker room
- 3:21Speaker 1: video with Kellen Moore giving out the game balls?
- 3:25Speaker 2: Yes.
- 3:26Speaker 1: Okay, you know this team. You talk to the players.
- 3:29Speaker 1: You're in the locker room. You talk to the coaches.
- 3:31Speaker 1: What was your read on that video?
- 3:36Speaker 3: I saw some comments, but I did not personally have
- 3:41Speaker 3: a this looks weird reaction that.
- 3:43Speaker 2: Stood out to me. I didn't. I didn't. I mean.
- 3:48Speaker 3: I think I know how they all felt. They were
- 3:50Speaker 3: probably all still a little like in the shot. Like,
- 3:53Speaker 3: I honestly think that's a good comp that I just
- 3:55Speaker 3: came up with on a fly. Like we've all had
- 3:57Speaker 3: those moments like, Oh man, did I just dodge one?
- 4:02Speaker 3: And you're like, all right, we're still good. We're still good.
- 4:07Speaker 1: It's just like, if you're in your analogy, like let's
- 4:11Speaker 1: say you're in the car with your spouse and you're
- 4:14Speaker 1: driving to dinner and you avoid like the 18 wheeler
- 4:19Speaker 1: coming in your lane and you know, like that was
- 4:20Speaker 1: going to be bad.
- 4:22Speaker 2: And yeah.
- 4:23Speaker 3: And the spouse knows how bad you messed up.
- 4:25Speaker 1: And every, but in like, and you're, Oh my God.
- 4:28Speaker 1: And then you get back and you're good. Like you need,
- 4:32Speaker 1: you need a minute to process. You can't just be like, Hey, so,
- 4:36Speaker 1: so what, what you think you're going to order? Like,
- 4:38Speaker 1: you can't just go right back into that was sort
- 4:40Speaker 1: of the, it's sort of the analogy.
- 4:42Speaker 2: Yes. Yes.
- 4:43Speaker 1: Yes.
- 4:44Speaker 2: But you know what?
- 4:45Speaker 3: You still go and have that dinner.
- 4:47Speaker 2: Do you?
- 4:48Speaker 3: You still, you don't, you don't just say, well, now
- 4:50Speaker 3: we're going home.
- 4:51Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 4:52Speaker 3: You need the moment to process, but then you still
- 4:54Speaker 3: go and have dinner and it.
- 4:55Speaker 2: Might be a great dinner.
- 4:56Speaker 1: Okay.
- 4:57Speaker 2: Okay.
- 4:58Speaker 1: A big part of having a good dinner in Paris
- 5:00Speaker 1: is a little cocoa van. Maybe. How about that?
- 5:03Speaker 2: Huh? Yeah.
- 5:05Speaker 1: Is you, you gotta, you gotta be able to, to
- 5:08Speaker 1: run the football again. So are you a believer that
- 5:14Speaker 1: Jeremiah Wright replacing Ruiz is, maybe was.
- 5:17Speaker 2: A part of that.
- 5:18Speaker 3: Wasn't that?
- 5:19Speaker 2: That was, I see that.
- 5:21Speaker 1: You see that out there.
- 5:24Speaker 3: I think Jeremiah Wright will be starting at right guard
- 5:26Speaker 3: in 2027 for sure.
- 5:30Speaker 2: Not for sure.
- 5:30Speaker 3: But I mean, I, I believe in that. I believe
- 5:33Speaker 3: Jeremiah Wright is ascending and, and I, he'll probably play
- 5:37Speaker 3: again this week and the reps will be good for him.
- 5:39Speaker 3: And I think Cesar Ruiz his career path is is
- 5:43Speaker 3: consistently descending and, and it'll probably be time to move
- 5:46Speaker 3: on after this season. But I don't think, I mean,
- 5:50Speaker 3: if you watch the film and you watch the runs
- 5:52Speaker 3: and everything, I mean, it wasn't like, Oh, he started
- 5:54Speaker 3: blowing holes open.
- 5:55Speaker 2: That weren't there before.
- 5:56Speaker 3: I mean, he, he had some, I mean, everybody had
- 5:59Speaker 3: nice blocks. I mean, they had six runs of double digits.
- 6:02Speaker 3: They only had five all season before this game, like, or,
- 6:05Speaker 3: or I think it was exactly six and six, but
- 6:08Speaker 3: the running, it was the running backs only had four runs.
- 6:10Speaker 3: and this game the running backs had five. The running
- 6:13Speaker 3: backs had more double-digit runs in this game than they
- 6:16Speaker 3: had had all season, and there were nice blocks across
- 6:19Speaker 3: the board from each offensive line and the tight ends
- 6:22Speaker 3: and everything. I'm only a believer in the sense that
- 6:26Speaker 3: it's such a realistic thing to fix. It's why I
- 6:31Speaker 3: had confidence in the Saints coming into this season, and
- 6:34Speaker 3: I predicted them to go 8-9, because I thought, You know,
- 6:37Speaker 3: if their run game just stops.
- 6:39Speaker 2: Being 31st in the NFL and can be average, I
- 6:44Speaker 2: think this team can be good.
- 6:46Speaker 3: And yet, the first.
- 6:47Speaker 2: Five weeks of the season, they.
- 6:48Speaker 3: Were still the worst run game in the NFL.
- 6:50Speaker 2: And it was like, God, how can they not fix that?
- 6:53Speaker 3: How can Kellen Moore and all these offensive minds not
- 6:56Speaker 3: figure out how to have.
- 6:57Speaker 2: An average run game?
- 7:00Speaker 3: So my belief that it's something that can be fixed
- 7:04Speaker 3: is the only reason why I'm like, all right, maybe
- 7:06Speaker 3: it can be fixed. but obviously need more evidence than
- 7:10Speaker 3: just one game.
- 7:11Speaker 1: Somebody has to be the worst in the league.
- 7:14Speaker 2: Yeah. That's just the truth.
- 7:16Speaker 1: He's at Mike Triplett, NewOrleans.football, NewOrleans.football. Okay, let's just talk
- 7:21Speaker 1: about the logistics of this game. The Saints have done
- 7:23Speaker 1: the overseas thing before, but how do you think that
- 7:27Speaker 1: their plan in going overseas and the logistics of playing
- 7:30Speaker 1: a quote-unquote home game in Paris, how does that matter
- 7:33Speaker 1: Saturday morning at 8.30 or Sunday morning at 8.30?
- 7:36Speaker 3: You go to New Orleans on football. I just posted
- 7:38Speaker 3: a very detailed examination. Anecdotal evidence, common sense. I just,
- 7:45Speaker 3: I can't believe that the teams that go on Monday,
- 7:48Speaker 3: don't beat the teams that go on, on Sunday, like
- 7:51Speaker 3: three to one. It makes perfect sense. Players have been
- 7:54Speaker 3: talking all week about how, You know, they were, you know,
- 7:59Speaker 3: they were sound asleep till noon on Tuesday. How they,
- 8:02Speaker 3: you know, like couldn't even like function there. Like they
- 8:06Speaker 3: were groggy. They were like, and they finally started to
- 8:09Speaker 3: feel like themselves Wednesday, even more on Thursday. Like we've
- 8:12Speaker 3: all done trips like that or, you know, a lot
- 8:15Speaker 3: of people have done trips like that. You know, that's
- 8:17Speaker 3: a true thing. I mean, it was, it was mocked
- 8:20Speaker 3: widely when, when the Rams tried to fly to Australia
- 8:24Speaker 3: in one day and the Niners were there for a week.
- 8:26Speaker 3: And the Niners beat them, you know, 30-something to seven
- 8:29Speaker 3: or whatever it was. And it looked like, wow, anybody
- 8:32Speaker 3: who doesn't go and acclimate is an idiot. And players
- 8:35Speaker 3: say they enjoy it and they appreciate it. But the
- 8:39Speaker 3: record of teams going earlier over teams going later all
- 8:43Speaker 3: time is 15 and 14. So you still have to
- 8:46Speaker 3: win the game.
- 8:47Speaker 2: You can't cheat it.
- 8:48Speaker 3: Like, you can fly there Friday and be the better team,
- 8:51Speaker 3: you know?
- 8:53Speaker 2: The Saints.
- 8:54Speaker 3: were perfect. They had this incredible track record under Sean Payton.
- 8:58Speaker 3: He also loves the team building, the team bonding, the isolation.
- 9:02Speaker 3: I mean, just totally believes in it. They had won
- 9:05Speaker 3: their first two international games. They had won that week
- 9:08Speaker 3: a few years ago when they spent the whole week
- 9:09Speaker 3: in Seattle. And it's like, yeah, this works, this works.
- 9:13Speaker 3: And then they went to London a few years ago
- 9:16Speaker 3: and Minnesota... flew up Friday, and Minnesota beat them. So,
- 9:20Speaker 3: I mean, it's just like, you know, you've still got
- 9:22Speaker 3: to be a better team. You've still got to play
- 9:23Speaker 3: the better game. But I think it is a real advantage.
- 9:26Speaker 2: I can't believe it's not.
- 9:28Speaker 1: Well, they lost that game against Minnesota with Andy Dalton
- 9:31Speaker 1: at quarterback because they wore those awful black helmets. I mean,
- 9:34Speaker 1: it's very clear. And the reason, Mike, that they won,
- 9:37Speaker 1: I'm convinced of this, that they won in New York
- 9:39Speaker 1: is because they didn't deface the gorgeous color rush uniforms
- 9:43Speaker 1: with those heinous black helmets again. That's why they were,
- 9:46Speaker 1: that's why the football gods rescued them from the disaster
- 9:50Speaker 1: at the end of that situation. You can't convince me otherwise.
- 9:52Speaker 3: Two years in a row that like, thank goodness they're
- 9:56Speaker 3: not smearing those uniforms. Like, you know, they, uniforms are the,
- 10:00Speaker 3: it's the best thing the organization has going for them
- 10:02Speaker 3: right now. It's the one that you said somebody has
- 10:05Speaker 3: to be 32nd. It's the one thing they're number one in.
- 10:09Speaker 1: Oh, it's the color rush uniform.
- 10:11Speaker 2: Yeah. Oh, man.
- 10:12Speaker 1: And the white helmet with the color rush.
- 10:14Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 10:14Speaker 1: With the chrome face mask. Like, it looks good.
- 10:18Speaker 2: Like, it looks great.
- 10:19Speaker 1: The colors of gold match. It looks good. Yes. Please
- 10:25Speaker 1: continue doing that, New Orleans Saints. As a matter of fact,
- 10:27Speaker 1: adopt that permanently as your look.
- 10:29Speaker 2: Yeah. I'm all for it. Yeah.
- 10:32Speaker 1: Like, the khaki pants they wear that they try to
- 10:35Speaker 1: pass off as gold is an atrocity. What are we
- 10:39Speaker 1: doing with that?
- 10:40Speaker 2: Don't get me started.
- 10:41Speaker 1: No, I'm getting you started.
- 10:44Speaker 3: It's... you can have one gold and just make it
- 10:49Speaker 3: your gold.
- 10:50Speaker 2: Right.
- 10:51Speaker 1: Right.
- 10:53Speaker 3: Like we have the technology, like you can type it in.
- 10:59Speaker 3: It's like 31 cyan, 28, whatever, whatever magenta.
- 11:04Speaker 2: Right. Can't we, haven't we.
- 11:05Speaker 3: Been able to do this for a long time? It's
- 11:09Speaker 3: a really good looking gold to just make that the gold.
- 11:13Speaker 1: Is there, is it true? Um, though, that I don't
- 11:19Speaker 1: know if I made this up and I'm flying off
- 11:21Speaker 1: the cuff here, but that the NFL wants the teams
- 11:25Speaker 1: to have like differentiation. So like the old gold that
- 11:30Speaker 1: the Saints wear maybe too closely resembles the 49ers gold.
- 11:36Speaker 1: And so that's why they want it different.
- 11:38Speaker 3: Do you know if there's any truth to that? I, I,
- 11:41Speaker 3: I'm not aware if there is, but I would bet proprietarily. Uh,
- 11:45Speaker 3: I mean, probably if you file for trademarks and stuff,
- 11:48Speaker 3: you have to have a different mix, but that's okay.
- 11:51Speaker 3: You can have your own. That's slightly different from the
- 11:53Speaker 3: 49ers and, and, and pick one, but I would just
- 11:57Speaker 3: like it to be the gold that's on all the gold.
- 12:00Speaker 1: Yeah, I agree.
- 12:02Speaker 2: Okay.
- 12:03Speaker 1: Uh, back to football related things. So we've talked about uniforms, travel, travel.
- 12:09Speaker 1: football itself, why should I think that they're going to
- 12:13Speaker 1: go and beat Pittsburgh?
- 12:16Speaker 3: I think Pittsburgh is a beatable team. Um, I think
- 12:21Speaker 3: if Aaron Rogers hadn't had the last three games that
- 12:23Speaker 3: he had, I think, I think we'd be, we'd be
- 12:26Speaker 3: like saying the saints, it's a must win because Pittsburgh's,
- 12:30Speaker 3: you know, like, like a super beatable team. Like he's
- 12:34Speaker 3: kind of come back to life a little bit after, uh,
- 12:38Speaker 3: after he had some, you know, he had really looked
- 12:40Speaker 3: like Father Time had caught up with him until he's
- 12:43Speaker 3: had a really nice stretch the last three weeks. But,
- 12:45Speaker 3: I mean, he's not as good under pressure. He doesn't
- 12:48Speaker 3: scramble as well as he used to be. You should
- 12:50Speaker 3: be able to get to him. That is something I
- 12:52Speaker 3: think Chase Young and Carl Granderson are two guys that
- 12:55Speaker 3: are working well for the Saints. I think Cade Nellis
- 12:57Speaker 3: coming back will be huge for the Saints. I think
- 13:00Speaker 3: this is a team you should be able to, to
- 13:03Speaker 3: hold to 20 points or less, and you should be
- 13:06Speaker 3: able to score 20 points or more. It's not a
- 13:09Speaker 3: matchup that terrifies you on paper, but Pittsburgh is playing
- 13:13Speaker 3: fundamentally sound football. They're 4-2. They're letting teams beat themselves,
- 13:19Speaker 3: and the Saints are a beat-themselves kind of team.
- 13:21Speaker 1: Do you like crepes?
- 13:24Speaker 2: Yeah, very much.
- 13:26Speaker 3: Can I give an unpaid endorsement?
- 13:31Speaker 2: T-Swirl Crepes and Metairie. My family lives off of them.
- 13:34Speaker 2: Say it again.
- 13:35Speaker 1: What is it?
- 13:35Speaker 3: T-Swirl Crepes.
- 13:37Speaker 2: Highly recommend it. T-Swirl.
- 13:40Speaker 1: Like the letter T, not T-E-A. The letter T.
- 13:44Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 13:44Speaker 3: Sweet ones with Nutella. The Triplett family likes Nutella a lot,
- 13:48Speaker 3: but also savory ones.
- 13:50Speaker 1: Valleyfin Pancakes. Break it, Pepe Le Pew! That's a Ricky
- 13:55Speaker 1: Bobby line when he's talking about crepes. Do you love baguettes?
- 14:00Speaker 3: Yeah, I like bread.
- 14:02Speaker 1: What about croissant?
- 14:05Speaker 3: Yeah, but I like other breakfast things. Croissant, like compared
- 14:09Speaker 3: to the breakfast field, it's just.
- 14:11Speaker 2: Middle of the road.
- 14:12Speaker 1: A croissant. See, I love a croissant sandwich.
- 14:17Speaker 3: French, I love French toast. I don't know if it's
- 14:20Speaker 3: actually French or not.
- 14:21Speaker 2: But I like a good French toast.
- 14:24Speaker 1: What about a French dip?
- 14:26Speaker 2: Fine. Adequate. Yeah.
- 14:29Speaker 1: French onion soup.
- 14:31Speaker 2: Very good. Very good. There's a lot of things right
- 14:34Speaker 2: over there.
- 14:34Speaker 1: Anything else we're missing? French wine. Can't go wrong with
- 14:37Speaker 1: French wine.
- 14:39Speaker 2: French fries.
- 14:40Speaker 1: French fries. Oh, I mean, how did I just miss
- 14:46Speaker 1: the absolute ace in the hole?
- 14:49Speaker 2: Of course.
- 14:50Speaker 1: Did they give us French fries?
- 14:52Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 14:53Speaker 3: I feel like French fries and French toast probably aren't French.
- 14:57Speaker 2: They're probably super American.
- 15:00Speaker 3: But we put the name French on it because we
- 15:02Speaker 3: know they're so good.
- 15:04Speaker 2: We have to be like, these are so good. They
- 15:06Speaker 2: must have come from France.
- 15:10Speaker 1: French also gave us capitalism, existentialism, and the menage a trois.
- 15:17Speaker 3: I've got one for you.
- 15:18Speaker 2: I've got one for you if we still have time. Yeah, yeah.
- 15:20Speaker 3: You're kind of a skeptic. I consider you a skeptic,
- 15:23Speaker 3: a healthy skeptic.
- 15:24Speaker 2: Is that fair?
- 15:24Speaker 3: Do you fancy yourself one?
- 15:28Speaker 1: I would say, and you can appreciate this, with a
- 15:32Speaker 1: journalism background, you're trained to ask questions. I think to
- 15:36Speaker 1: be a healthy skeptic. Sure. To ask questions.
- 15:38Speaker 2: Sure.
- 15:39Speaker 1: Not necessarily just to be an antagonist.
- 15:40Speaker 3: But I think you're on the strong side of that.
- 15:43Speaker 2: I'm not calling you antagonistic. Okay, yeah. But you lean, yeah,
- 15:47Speaker 2: I mean, you lean.
- 15:48Speaker 3: On the, you know, you lean into the skepticism.
- 15:51Speaker 2: You know, you're going to challenge everyone.
- 15:52Speaker 1: Okay, yes.
- 15:54Speaker 3: How do you feel about this partnership? Because I'm, like,
- 15:56Speaker 3: kind of torn. I'm like, you almost had to abandon
- 15:59Speaker 3: it if you lost that last game. If you were 1-5,
- 16:02Speaker 3: you would be like, what are you doing wasting an
- 16:05Speaker 3: ounce of your effort, like, trying to market yourself overseas?
- 16:09Speaker 3: But then again, you know, the game has gone international. France,
- 16:14Speaker 3: there is a natural connection there. Fleur de Lis, French Quarter,
- 16:17Speaker 3: European history. I kind of like it. If they became like, hey,
- 16:22Speaker 3: if there's a game in France, the Saints are in
- 16:24Speaker 3: it every three years, every four.
- 16:26Speaker 2: Years, whatever. I'm okay with it. Where are you on that? Frivolous?
- 16:30Speaker 2: Waste of time?
- 16:31Speaker 3: Distracting from what it should be?
- 16:33Speaker 1: Are you asking? I have a few different angles to
- 16:39Speaker 1: take on this. Yeah. I'm curious because.
- 16:42Speaker 3: I consider you a smell test barometer who would probably
- 16:49Speaker 3: lean toward, ah, it's a waste. I would consider you
- 16:53Speaker 3: more of a, it's a waste if it's not making
- 16:55Speaker 3: the team better. But I'm curious because there's some appeal
- 16:58Speaker 3: to it.
- 16:59Speaker 1: Are you asking me as Matt Moscona, the New Orleans
- 17:03Speaker 1: Saints fan, or from a business perspective, like the NFL,
- 17:09Speaker 1: the new Orleans saints, uh, which, which perspective are you asking?
- 17:13Speaker 1: Cause that will, that will give you my answer.
- 17:16Speaker 2: All right.
- 17:17Speaker 3: Both, but if there's two different answers, I want to
- 17:19Speaker 3: hear both.
- 17:20Speaker 1: As a fan of the new Orleans saints, this sucks.
- 17:24Speaker 1: Because it is, for the reason we talked about, an
- 17:27Speaker 1: objective truth, taking your team and flying them overseas in
- 17:31Speaker 1: the middle of the season is a disadvantage. There's no
- 17:33Speaker 1: way around it. And you give up a home game
- 17:37Speaker 1: in your building. Now the Saints suck at home and
- 17:39Speaker 1: have now for a few years. But again, you are
- 17:42Speaker 1: conceding advantages and putting yourself at a noted disadvantage by
- 17:47Speaker 1: flying overseas.
- 17:49Speaker 2: Quick interjection.
- 17:51Speaker 3: If I'm presenting to you that The NFL is now
- 17:55Speaker 3: mandating every team plays one overseas game a year, blah, blah, blah.
- 18:00Speaker 2: Every other year, it'll be home game, away game. No
- 18:02Speaker 2: competitive disadvantage.
- 18:04Speaker 1: Yeah, sure. So then to the next point is the
- 18:08Speaker 1: NFL financial component of it. I love business, and I
- 18:14Speaker 1: love making money. And I feel like I have a
- 18:17Speaker 1: good business acumen, and I very much understand and appreciate
- 18:21Speaker 1: the growing the game globally and what things like this
- 18:25Speaker 1: do to grow the game globally. Otherwise, they wouldn't be
- 18:28Speaker 1: playing in Paris and in Rio and in Russia or
- 18:31Speaker 1: wherever the hell else they're playing. Ecuador, I don't know. Australia.
- 18:34Speaker 1: I mean, they're going to go everywhere, every corner of
- 18:35Speaker 1: the earth because they're trying to grow the brand. So
- 18:37Speaker 1: if I'm a business owner and I have the opportunity
- 18:41Speaker 1: to grow my business into new markets, of course I'm
- 18:44Speaker 1: going to do that. Now, There's also the health and
- 18:47Speaker 1: wellness of your players, but the players don't object like
- 18:51Speaker 1: the players don't object to a 17th game because they
- 18:53Speaker 1: are going to make more money in turn as well.
- 18:55Speaker 1: So I don't really have much sympathy for the health
- 18:59Speaker 1: and wellness component of it because the players have the
- 19:03Speaker 1: opportunity to collectively bargain and they're okay with this because
- 19:06Speaker 1: they are going to make more money. But as a
- 19:09Speaker 1: fan of the team... I hate it because it is
- 19:12Speaker 1: a competitive disadvantage. One of the reasons the Rams suck
- 19:15Speaker 1: this year, Mike, is because they flew to Australia. You
- 19:20Speaker 1: will not convince me otherwise. It is an objective truth.
- 19:24Speaker 1: They flew literally around the world, played a game, then
- 19:27Speaker 1: flew back and had to go play a 17-game season.
- 19:30Speaker 1: I'll give you a different analogy. Paul Skeens has acknowledged
- 19:34Speaker 1: one of the reasons he did not look like Paul
- 19:36Speaker 1: Skeens this year is he got so off of his
- 19:38Speaker 1: routine recently going full force in the World Baseball Classic,
- 19:41Speaker 1: and it was so evident he was not the same
- 19:43Speaker 1: guy this year. With a regular off season. He's going
- 19:46Speaker 1: to be great again next year. Like I'd bet anything
- 19:48Speaker 1: on it. The Rams suck this year because they flew
- 19:50Speaker 1: to Australia. So I don't like that. The saints went
- 19:53Speaker 1: and played over or going in Paris, but I get
- 19:56Speaker 1: why they're doing it and why the NFL is doing it.
- 19:59Speaker 2: Weird.
- 20:00Speaker 3: Weirdly, the Niners are six and oh, and they also
- 20:02Speaker 3: put Australia, but I'm not disagreeing with you because I
- 20:04Speaker 3: do agree with you. Um, But just to ask the
- 20:08Speaker 3: question one more way, I agree with the international travel
- 20:12Speaker 3: of it all completely. But I'm saying in a world
- 20:15Speaker 3: where that's inevitable, the NFL has decided you're playing overseas
- 20:20Speaker 3: every year, whether you like.
- 20:21Speaker 2: It or not.
- 20:21Speaker 1: And the Saints do the France thing.
- 20:23Speaker 3: Do you like the Paris connection? Does it feel like, hey,
- 20:27Speaker 3: it's us in New Orleans and the French.
- 20:29Speaker 2: We're all who, Dad?
- 20:29Speaker 3: Do you feel that at all?
- 20:31Speaker 2: I don't.
- 20:32Speaker 1: I mean, part of me has a soft spot for
- 20:34Speaker 1: the French in my heart because they helped us in
- 20:36Speaker 1: the American Revolution. I also look at French, and I
- 20:40Speaker 1: think they're kind of wusses a little bit. So I
- 20:44Speaker 1: don't love that part of it. But, you know, Eiffel Tower,
- 20:47Speaker 1: the Champs-Élysées, French fries. There's a lot of things that
- 20:50Speaker 1: France gave us, as Jean Girard said. Democracy, existentialism. The
- 20:57Speaker 1: other thing that I can't say on radio that Muse
- 20:59Speaker 1: knows and is going to laugh about. Go look up
- 21:00Speaker 1: the clip if you don't know what I'm talking about.
- 21:03Speaker 1: So anyway, yeah, I'm good with France. I'm good with that. Yeah,
- 21:07Speaker 1: if everybody's going to do it, I'm good with it.
- 21:09Speaker 2: All right, cool. All right, glad we talked.
- 21:11Speaker 1: This was awesome.
- 21:12Speaker 2: We finished strong. We did.
- 21:15Speaker 3: I challenged you at the beginning, and I think we did.
- 21:17Speaker 1: Thank you, Mike.
- 21:19Speaker 2: Thank you.
