Transcript
- 0:07Speaker 1: What's going on?
- 0:08Speaker 2: Everyone, Welcome into another episode of De Checho Daily. Andrew
- 0:12Speaker 2: Dichecko here, Eagles beat reporter for insidethbirds dot Com, and
- 0:16Speaker 2: we're gonna do a little detour today. Normally we would
- 0:18Speaker 2: continue on with our positional preview series, but the Eagles
- 0:22Speaker 2: had coordinator availability today, which means we heard from newly
- 0:27Speaker 2: minted offensive coordinator Sean Mannion for the first time, and
- 0:31Speaker 2: he had.
- 0:32Speaker 1: Some really good things to say.
- 0:33Speaker 2: Look, you never want to make too much off of
- 0:35Speaker 2: one press conference, but I have to say that I
- 0:38Speaker 2: was thoroughly impressed. I thought he conveyed his vision and
- 0:42Speaker 2: his principles and what he really believes in with conviction,
- 0:46Speaker 2: and there was a lot of positives to take away
- 0:48Speaker 2: from that thought. He really handled himself well there. Michael Clay,
- 0:52Speaker 2: the Eagle Special Teams coordator, spoke, and of course we
- 0:55Speaker 2: heard from Vic Vangio, who had a ton of one liners.
- 0:58Speaker 2: Never fails to deliver a quote that illicits a lot
- 1:02Speaker 2: of laughter.
- 1:03Speaker 1: And things like that.
- 1:04Speaker 2: So I'm actually going to read for you some quotes
- 1:07Speaker 2: that I found to be particularly noteworthy and then I'll
- 1:11Speaker 2: offer some thoughts with that.
- 1:13Speaker 1: So we're gonna start.
- 1:14Speaker 2: With the man of the hour and that is Sean Mannion,
- 1:20Speaker 2: And he talked a lot about establishing a relationship with
- 1:24Speaker 2: Jalen Hurts, how that's gone over very well and Jalen's
- 1:28Speaker 2: really dialed into the fundamentals. He asked a lot of
- 1:30Speaker 2: thought provoking questions. He sort of attacked this process and
- 1:34Speaker 2: naturally that's where it all starts with Sean Manion. How
- 1:37Speaker 2: will you get the most out of Jalen Hurts? And
- 1:40Speaker 2: he talked about connecting on a personal level, getting to
- 1:43Speaker 2: know Jalen and know what his interests are, what makes
- 1:46Speaker 2: him tick. And then he said, once you start to
- 1:49Speaker 2: get to know a guy on a personal level, I
- 1:50Speaker 2: think the football connection comes becomes pretty easy. And it's
- 1:55Speaker 2: been a great process with Jay when he says he's
- 1:57Speaker 2: been a pleasure to work with him. Really since I
- 1:59Speaker 2: got the job, able to connect with him on a
- 2:01Speaker 2: personal level and then on a football level has been great.
- 2:05Speaker 1: He also talked about his identity for an offense. What
- 2:08Speaker 1: does he want it to be? Want it to be?
- 2:11Speaker 2: And he said, I think the biggest thing we want
- 2:13Speaker 2: our offense to look like is we talk about play
- 2:16Speaker 2: style a lot, playing with great effort, great physicality, being
- 2:19Speaker 2: great teammates. I think it's when you turn the on
- 2:21Speaker 2: the tape, what does the Eagles offense look like?
- 2:25Speaker 1: Those are the things we really want to stand out.
- 2:28Speaker 2: Just as a broad stroke, he talked about the learning
- 2:35Speaker 2: process for Jalen Hurts and look, he's had an abundance
- 2:38Speaker 2: of coordinators. Not an easy task even for a veteran
- 2:41Speaker 2: quarterback like Jalen to be able to learn a new offense,
- 2:45Speaker 2: which is a stark contrast to anything he's done in
- 2:47Speaker 2: the past. But Sean Mannion said, Jayalen's been under outstanding
- 2:51Speaker 2: in the meetings and I think having gone through multiple
- 2:54Speaker 2: coordinators and stuff, you can tell he's really a capable
- 2:58Speaker 2: learner that's been really fun to work work with on
- 3:01Speaker 2: a daily basis. I think there's always going to be
- 3:03Speaker 2: some degree of connection, and like I said, it's a
- 3:06Speaker 2: blend of all things. Blend was a commonly used word
- 3:09Speaker 2: with Sean Maddion, the things that he's really thrived in
- 3:14Speaker 2: here and some of the new things we're bringing to
- 3:16Speaker 2: the table. But it's been a great process to get
- 3:19Speaker 2: to really build this thing from the ground up with
- 3:21Speaker 2: him and with our staff. I think we're really being
- 3:23Speaker 2: deliberate with the teaching and building this thing with a
- 3:27Speaker 2: strong foundation because it's constantly being built, it's constantly evolving.
- 3:31Speaker 1: We're always looking at how.
- 3:33Speaker 2: Can we make this better? So that process has been
- 3:36Speaker 2: great so far. He spoke a little bit about the
- 3:41Speaker 2: interview process and what it was like, you know, getting
- 3:46Speaker 2: the job and being ready and did he know that
- 3:49Speaker 2: he was ready for this big jump in his career,
- 3:52Speaker 2: And he said, I was at the East West Shrine
- 3:53Speaker 2: game and got an interview virtually, and I felt like
- 3:56Speaker 2: we just really hit it off right away. I felt
- 3:59Speaker 2: great about the full conversation and getting to connect with
- 4:02Speaker 2: Nick and Howie and mister.
- 4:04Speaker 1: Lorie and all the people involved.
- 4:06Speaker 2: There's a lot of people involved on the interview and
- 4:09Speaker 2: things like that. From there, came in there for an
- 4:12Speaker 2: in person interview, and again it was just even more
- 4:15Speaker 2: validating getting to be in the building and getting to
- 4:18Speaker 2: have further discussion. It came together kind of sorry I
- 4:22Speaker 2: lost my thought that lost my mark.
- 4:25Speaker 1: Came together kind.
- 4:26Speaker 2: Of from there and felt like it was a great fit,
- 4:28Speaker 2: great fit for me, great fit for my family, great
- 4:31Speaker 2: fit just in terms of the football side of things here,
- 4:33Speaker 2: and yeah, I'm really excited in terms of being ready
- 4:36Speaker 2: for it. I think I lean on all my experiences,
- 4:39Speaker 2: my years in Green Bay, my years as a player,
- 4:42Speaker 2: learning things constantly along the way. I was fortunate to
- 4:44Speaker 2: play for a while and play for a lot of
- 4:47Speaker 2: great coaches. Even as a player, I knew this is
- 4:49Speaker 2: what I wanted to do next. I knew I was
- 4:52Speaker 2: going to get into coaching, so I always had that
- 4:55Speaker 2: in mind as I'm learning things, How am I going
- 4:57Speaker 2: to use this someday for a coaching from a coaching
- 4:59Speaker 2: person effective. I've been really fortunate to work with a
- 5:02Speaker 2: lot of great coaches and pick up a lot of
- 5:04Speaker 2: things along the way, and always kind of attacked it
- 5:07Speaker 2: with the end in mind.
- 5:08Speaker 1: In terms of.
- 5:09Speaker 2: Knowing, someday I'm going to get into coaching. Someday I
- 5:14Speaker 2: hope to become a play caller. How am I going
- 5:16Speaker 2: to use this? I really leaned into that throughout my
- 5:20Speaker 2: career and learned.
- 5:21Speaker 1: A lot along the way.
- 5:27Speaker 2: I asked Sean Manning about run game coordinator and what
- 5:31Speaker 2: made Ryan Mahaffey the logical choice to step in and
- 5:34Speaker 2: coordinate the run game, and he said, me and Ryan
- 5:37Speaker 2: have worked together, and I think some of the things
- 5:39Speaker 2: that we're bringing Ryan has a background, and his background
- 5:43Speaker 2: in and his background is unique. He's been with the
- 5:45Speaker 2: offensive line for a lot of time, he's been with
- 5:48Speaker 2: the receiver group. Ultimately, our run game, our whole offense
- 5:51Speaker 2: as a whole, is a collaborative process. It's really being
- 5:54Speaker 2: built by all of us. And Ryan's a very detailed guy.
- 5:57Speaker 2: He understands the schematic elements. He knows how how all
- 6:00Speaker 2: the piece is fit, having worked with the blocking unit,
- 6:03Speaker 2: with the offensive line, having worked with the receiving group,
- 6:06Speaker 2: because we all have a hand in the run game,
- 6:08Speaker 2: and he's a tremendous teacher, detail oriented, He's going to
- 6:12Speaker 2: be a great fit for that room. So I wanted
- 6:14Speaker 2: to make sure that I got a question in about
- 6:16Speaker 2: Ryan Mahaffey. One he hasn't been you know, he's well,
- 6:20Speaker 2: he's a new face to the coaching staff, but he's
- 6:22Speaker 2: going to be taking on a pretty prominent role here
- 6:24Speaker 2: on the offense, looking over the run game or placing
- 6:27Speaker 2: a legend in Jeff Stoutland and then coaching the tight
- 6:31Speaker 2: ends of course, but I thought that that really offered
- 6:33Speaker 2: some good insight into Ryan Mahaffey. And he also spoke
- 6:37Speaker 2: about the collaborative process and that it's going to be
- 6:40Speaker 2: built by all of them and highlighting Ryan's understanding of
- 6:44Speaker 2: the schematic elements, working with multiple different position groups and
- 6:48Speaker 2: things like that, it should all come in to play
- 6:51Speaker 2: as they developed that.
- 6:53Speaker 1: Scheme and let's see, I wanted to get to final one.
- 7:03Speaker 2: On Sean Mannion, he talked about being able to compensate
- 7:07Speaker 2: for the lack of experience and who his influences in
- 7:09Speaker 2: his career that he sort of draws from, and Mannion said,
- 7:13Speaker 2: I've always been kind of working towards the hope of
- 7:15Speaker 2: getting the opportunity to do this. So even in Green Bay,
- 7:18Speaker 2: you're always going through as the quarterbacks coach, You're saying,
- 7:21Speaker 2: all right, what calls do I have to have Jordan
- 7:25Speaker 2: Love ready for. You're kind of thinking through the process
- 7:28Speaker 2: of the game throughout the week. What's Matt going to call?
- 7:31Speaker 1: Here?
- 7:31Speaker 2: Talking about Matt Lafleur, of course, what's my favorite third
- 7:34Speaker 2: down call? You're always kind of taking yourself through that
- 7:37Speaker 2: process mentally. It was the same thing as a player.
- 7:40Speaker 2: You're saying, Hey, what's my favorite call in the high
- 7:42Speaker 2: red zone? If it's a high blitz game, what's my
- 7:45Speaker 2: favorite call? When am I going to come to the
- 7:47Speaker 2: sideline and be like, hey, can I get this one
- 7:50Speaker 2: on our next third medium where you might be getting
- 7:54Speaker 2: a lot of pressure, You're always taking yourself through that
- 7:57Speaker 2: process kind of flexing those muscles. Then even now scripting practice,
- 8:01Speaker 2: you're still going through the same operation. Hey, it's first
- 8:05Speaker 2: and ten, it's second and eight, it's third and eight.
- 8:07Speaker 2: What are the things that I really want us to
- 8:09Speaker 2: get to work on for those specific situations. So you're
- 8:13Speaker 2: always putting yourself through those paces. And your other question
- 8:17Speaker 2: about some of the influences, I think it really for
- 8:20Speaker 2: me starts with my dad. My dad was a longtime
- 8:23Speaker 2: high school football coach, been around the game my entire life.
- 8:25Speaker 1: He's a teacher, my mom's a teacher.
- 8:27Speaker 2: You can hear me talk about the teaching influence a
- 8:30Speaker 2: lot when it comes to coaching. But just to drive
- 8:32Speaker 2: the work ethic, the relationships with the players, the commitment
- 8:35Speaker 2: to fundamentals, my dad was a huge influence on me. There.
- 8:39Speaker 2: My college coach Mike Riley, longtime coach at Oregon State,
- 8:43Speaker 2: just a great.
- 8:43Speaker 1: Leader of men, great communicator, Matt l Floor.
- 8:46Speaker 2: He gave me my first job in this league and
- 8:48Speaker 2: I'll always be grateful to him for that. I learned
- 8:51Speaker 2: a lot from him as a player, I learned a
- 8:52Speaker 2: lot from him as a coach. He's a tremendous coach,
- 8:55Speaker 2: a great man, a great leader. Learned learned a ton
- 8:58Speaker 2: from him. It's been a lot of fun working with
- 9:00Speaker 2: Nick mix an outstanding coach.
- 9:02Speaker 1: He's built an unbelievable program here.
- 9:04Speaker 2: He's really he really has total and absolute commitment to
- 9:07Speaker 2: the things that are important to winning, stresses them all
- 9:09Speaker 2: the time. He's a great communicator, a great leader for
- 9:12Speaker 2: our organization. I know I'm only a few months in
- 9:15Speaker 2: with Nick, but I've already learned a ton and I
- 9:17Speaker 2: can't wait to keep learning from him because he's a
- 9:19Speaker 2: tremendous resource for me. He's a tremendous leader for this organization.
- 9:23Speaker 2: And it's been great so far, and it's going to
- 9:27Speaker 2: be great moving forward. And then he also spoke about
- 9:32Speaker 2: the footwork and why that's so important to the quarterback position.
- 9:36Speaker 2: And I think a quote that that really stuck out
- 9:38Speaker 2: to me was when he talked about that he trains
- 9:42Speaker 2: quarterbacks to really understand and understand and listen to their feet,
- 9:48Speaker 2: understand the timing of one route marries with the timing
- 9:51Speaker 2: of another route, but He also talked about listening to
- 9:53Speaker 2: your feet, and that's something that he says that they
- 9:55Speaker 2: talk about. If your footwork is sound, he says, and
- 9:58Speaker 2: your rhythm's good, it's just going to feel like the
- 10:00Speaker 2: ball wants to come out. So that was Sean Mannion.
- 10:03Speaker 2: He had a lot of really great things to say
- 10:05Speaker 2: about Jalen Hurts. I sort of led the podcast with that,
- 10:09Speaker 2: and their relationship is going to be critical moving forward.
- 10:12Speaker 2: How quickly Jalen's able to pick things up. I happen
- 10:15Speaker 2: to think that Sean Mannion, and being as young as
- 10:18Speaker 2: he is, kind of like with Christian Parker, can have
- 10:22Speaker 2: that relatability factor which makes it easier to learn.
- 10:24Speaker 1: He learned the where he.
- 10:26Speaker 2: Played the position at a high level, and so everything
- 10:30Speaker 2: that Sean Manny had to say about Jalen Hurts should leave.
- 10:32Speaker 2: You're really encouraged. Now you have to go on the
- 10:34Speaker 2: field and be able to execute it and put those
- 10:36Speaker 2: things in motion. But this is what we have to
- 10:40Speaker 2: go off of right now. OTAs are next week and
- 10:42Speaker 2: you kind of build from there. But I think right
- 10:45Speaker 2: now it was a very encouraging sign of things to come.
- 10:50Speaker 2: Sean Manny and I believed Ace the initial press conference.
- 10:53Speaker 2: That doesn't count for much, but that's what we have
- 10:56Speaker 2: to go off of, and I think that that was
- 10:58Speaker 2: a really positive developed met there for the Philadelphia Eagles.
- 11:02Speaker 1: Vic Fangio.
- 11:03Speaker 2: Vic Vangio, when asked right off the bat how close
- 11:07Speaker 2: he was to stepping away, said, now, I wasn't close.
- 11:10Speaker 2: I've had those thoughts for the last few years. Every
- 11:13Speaker 2: year at the end of the year, I just think
- 11:14Speaker 2: about it. I never really got serious to where I
- 11:16Speaker 2: would have done it, and it's no different than I
- 11:18Speaker 2: did after the twenty four season.
- 11:20Speaker 1: After the twenty three season, I.
- 11:21Speaker 2: Told the players the other day that we had our
- 11:23Speaker 2: annual physical We get our physicals as coaches, and the
- 11:26Speaker 2: docs told me I was reverse aging with my lab
- 11:29Speaker 2: work and everything that came up. I told them, you
- 11:31Speaker 2: guys are stuck with me for a while, a long while.
- 11:34Speaker 1: That was just some of the.
- 11:35Speaker 2: Lighthearted moments that Vic Vangiel had and he also mentioned
- 11:39Speaker 2: he just likes doing it.
- 11:40Speaker 1: He still likes doing it.
- 11:41Speaker 2: He likes the group of guys that they have, he
- 11:44Speaker 2: likes working with them, he likes the challenge of the job.
- 11:48Speaker 2: Of course, the organization was something he highlighted, and yeah,
- 11:52Speaker 2: I mean that was sort of his that's sort of
- 11:55Speaker 2: a synopsis there of you know, the early offseason conversation
- 12:00Speaker 2: that centered around that, and Marik Wohen was another player
- 12:04Speaker 2: who came up understandably, and Vic Vangio sort of in
- 12:09Speaker 2: a Vicvangil way, kind of gushed over the new acquisition
- 12:13Speaker 2: there said he I'm excited to have him. We looked
- 12:16Speaker 2: at him during the middle of the season last year
- 12:18Speaker 2: a little bit because they may have been interested in
- 12:21Speaker 2: trading them, and we didn't decide to do it, and
- 12:23Speaker 2: I didn't get too involved in the evaluation. But then
- 12:25Speaker 2: when it came to free agency. Then when it came
- 12:29Speaker 2: free agency time this year, and I actually sat down
- 12:31Speaker 2: and watched him thoroughly. I was excited for him and
- 12:34Speaker 2: kind of surprised that he was one of those guys
- 12:37Speaker 2: that didn't get a lot of action for a long
- 12:39Speaker 2: term deal. I was thrown to get him. I think
- 12:40Speaker 2: he's going to play well for us. And when asked
- 12:45Speaker 2: about what about Rike Wohen intrigued you, he mentioned that
- 12:49Speaker 2: he's a rare guy, and you don't see many corners
- 12:51Speaker 2: in this league that are six'. Four you don't see
- 12:53Speaker 2: many that are six two or even six,' one and
- 12:55Speaker 2: there's a reason. For that it's hard to find guys
- 12:57Speaker 2: at those heights that can move in mirror receivers that
- 13:00Speaker 2: are hard. To cover he can do that for a guy.
- 13:02Speaker 2: His height he can get in and out. Of breaks
- 13:04Speaker 2: he's obviously he obviously has good, downfield speed and his
- 13:07Speaker 2: length is more of an asset than a detriment in.
- 13:09Speaker 2: This case i'm excited to. Have him he's been here
- 13:12Speaker 2: since we started the. Off season seems to be a.
- 13:14Speaker 2: Great guy he's into being here and really looking forward
- 13:17Speaker 2: to working. With him with Regard To, nolan smith and
- 13:22Speaker 2: in case you, Haven't Heard nolan smith was Arrested, last
- 13:26Speaker 2: friday and, you know for Speeding, in georgia and there's been,
- 13:33Speaker 2: you know conversation you know, About that and he SAID
- 13:38Speaker 2: when i asked what his reaction was To The nolan
- 13:40Speaker 2: smith's speeding incident with regard to maybe reaching out and
- 13:45Speaker 2: talking to him, about it, he, said, YEAH eventually, i
- 13:47Speaker 2: WILL but, i mean.
- 13:49Speaker 1: Coach addressed.
- 13:50Speaker 2: IT today i didn't find out about it until, this morning,
- 13:53Speaker 2: BUT yeah i we'll address it with him at. SOME
- 13:55Speaker 2: point a really notable nugget Here From, vic vangio when
- 14:00Speaker 2: asked about his view of the. Safety position Next to,
- 14:02Speaker 2: Drew Mccouba vick, vangol said. IT'S open I think Marcus
- 14:07Speaker 2: Meaning marcus EPs is someone that will put up a
- 14:10Speaker 2: good claim. To it, in base it Will Be. Cooper
- 14:12Speaker 2: dejen when we go to Nickel and coop comes up and,
- 14:15Speaker 2: plays nickel It'll. Be epps we're taking a good Look
- 14:19Speaker 2: At michael carter Back there Andre sam then we signed
- 14:22Speaker 2: an undrafted for agent gush Talking about COPINA. Gushikin jt
- 14:27Speaker 2: gray has mainly been a special, teams player but he'll get.
- 14:29Speaker 2: A look we'll look at all. Those guys it's an.
- 14:32Speaker 2: Open Competition michael carter is a player that may. Surprise
- 14:38Speaker 2: some he's a nickelback. By trade but, you know if
- 14:41Speaker 2: you've been following along with all of, the coverage including,
- 14:44Speaker 2: my own you would know That the eagles are going
- 14:46Speaker 2: to take a long Look At michael carter this year as.
- 14:48Speaker 1: A safety he played safety in the.
- 14:50Speaker 2: Season finale he's played safety previously in, his career and
- 14:55Speaker 2: while he doesn't have pro typical size and eighty. Five
- 14:58Speaker 2: Pounds vic vangil outlined why or what he Liked About
- 15:02Speaker 2: michael carter and, HE said i don't think it's a nickel.
- 15:04Speaker 2: Position translating that's an. Individual thing he's an. INSTINCTIVE player
- 15:08Speaker 2: i think he's a good feel for. The game what
- 15:10Speaker 2: little he did play for us, last year he did.
- 15:12Speaker 2: SHOW that i don't think we'll have a hard time
- 15:14Speaker 2: learning the. Position mentally he's just got to go out
- 15:17Speaker 2: there and be able to. Do it what we've been
- 15:20Speaker 2: doing out there these last couple of weeks are just
- 15:22Speaker 2: kind of walk throughs and route pickups against other defensive
- 15:25Speaker 2: players running the routes or even. NON players i think
- 15:28Speaker 2: we'll know early whether he's got the feel for it.
- 15:32Speaker 1: Or not so that's something to keep an.
- 15:33Speaker 2: Eye ON and i am curious to see how the
- 15:37Speaker 2: safety alignments take shape for. Even OTAs, let's see let's
- 15:44Speaker 2: Go To. Jalen carter what has he Seen From? Jalen
- 15:52Speaker 2: carter he had the, shoulder. Issues etc and where is
- 15:56Speaker 2: he with? The shoulder, HE said i think his shoulders.
- 15:58Speaker 2: Are fine he's had a good offseason. OF lifting i
- 16:01Speaker 2: think he started that earlier than normal, for him and
- 16:03Speaker 2: you can see the difference in. THAT regard i think
- 16:05Speaker 2: he's in a better spot now than, HE was I
- 16:08Speaker 2: Asked vic fangiol about Jay, loox hunt who's entering his.
- 16:11Speaker 2: Third season what's the next step for him and where
- 16:13Speaker 2: are you looking for him to grow? His Game, Jalox
- 16:17Speaker 2: hunt i've talked about at my pinpointed and written about
- 16:20Speaker 2: as my breakthrough player on defense. This year closed out,
- 16:23Speaker 2: The season strong had five and a half sacks from
- 16:27Speaker 2: week ten to, week eighteen led the team, in interceptions
- 16:30Speaker 2: led the team in quarterback hits with, twenty four and
- 16:35Speaker 2: led the edge rushers. And snaps so, he said just
- 16:39Speaker 2: keep doing what. He's doing he's had a. NICE progression
- 16:41Speaker 2: i see him growing his game in. ALL aspects i
- 16:43Speaker 2: think he can and will, Rush better he'll play the.
- 16:46Speaker 2: Run better it's just a. Natural progression he's had a
- 16:48Speaker 2: good progression in his. Rookie year he didn't play a lot.
- 16:51Speaker 2: Early on THEN When Bg brandon graham, went down he
- 16:54Speaker 2: started playing MORE and, i thought for a guy with,
- 16:57Speaker 2: his background was kind of a perfect year. For him
- 17:00Speaker 2: he ended up playing a good bit if you remember
- 17:02Speaker 2: in the playoffs. Et cetera then last year played, a lot. Did,
- 17:06Speaker 2: GOOD yeah i think he's just ready to keep getting better.
- 17:09Speaker 2: And better, let's see we'll go to the, final ONE
- 17:24Speaker 2: which i thought was kind. Of funny he, talked about,
- 17:27Speaker 2: you know as he talked To former eagles offensive Line Coach,
- 17:30Speaker 2: jeff Stotland Because jeff stotland is, a player it is
- 17:34Speaker 2: a coach who is.
- 17:36Speaker 1: No longer in. The building he's.
- 17:37Speaker 2: A veteran and, he, SAID yeah i mean HIM and
- 17:42Speaker 2: i live near. EACH other i haven't seen him in
- 17:44Speaker 2: the last, few weeks but we played. At golf we
- 17:46Speaker 2: played golf a, couple TIMES but i haven't seen. Him
- 17:48Speaker 2: lately he seems to be. ENJOYING himself i know he's
- 17:51Speaker 2: playing a lot. OF golf i don't know that he's gotten,
- 17:53Speaker 2: any better but. He's trying, let's uh they forgot about,
- 18:02Speaker 2: this part he said at the last one was you
- 18:07Speaker 2: had mentioned that at the end of, The year at
- 18:08Speaker 2: the end of, every year you kind of think about.
- 18:11Speaker 2: Those things what do you consider when you think about?
- 18:13Speaker 2: Those things, You, said well your birth certificate tells you
- 18:15Speaker 2: that you should think, about IT and, i do And
- 18:18Speaker 2: then i'm always Back and.
- 18:19Speaker 1: I'm back but.
- 18:20Speaker 2: He had one more THING that i want to FIND that.
- 18:23Speaker 2: I can't i want to make SURE that i get
- 18:25Speaker 2: the actual quote, for you because you know how there's
- 18:27Speaker 2: so many different titles AROUND the nfl associate, head coach this.
- 18:33Speaker 1: And that there's there's so.
- 18:35Speaker 2: Many titles and when Asked About christian parker Leaving And
- 18:42Speaker 2: joe casper becoming the defensive pass game Coordinator At mike
- 18:45Speaker 2: pellegrino coming on as a, Secondary coach, vic said defensive pass.
- 18:50Speaker 2: Game coordinator all these titles you guys see around, the
- 18:53Speaker 2: league pass, game coordinators run. Game coordinators there's, many more assisting,
- 18:57Speaker 2: head coach associate, head, coach this that and. The other
- 18:59Speaker 2: you know what those titles mean about as much as
- 19:01Speaker 2: this bottle of water is going to MEAN after i finished.
- 19:04Speaker 2: Drinking It So vic vanjo is a quote MACHINE and
- 19:08Speaker 2: I always i always enjoy hearing. From him and then
- 19:12Speaker 2: we'll round things Off with special Teams Coordinator, michael clay
- 19:16Speaker 2: who actually, you know if you if you remember, he
- 19:20Speaker 2: was you know he was potentially going. TO leave i
- 19:23Speaker 2: think there Was The Tampa bay buccaneers that explored bringing
- 19:27Speaker 2: him onto, their staff and, he said, you know it
- 19:30Speaker 2: was just one of, those things is the. Business decision
- 19:34Speaker 2: at times the contract does. Run OUT but I guess
- 19:36Speaker 2: i could follow a Suit. WITH vic i wasn't that
- 19:39Speaker 2: close to leaving or anything of. That nature and he
- 19:42Speaker 2: said he's happy that they want.
- 19:44Speaker 1: Me back.
- 19:48Speaker 2: He said that it was helpful talking to. Another team,
- 19:52Speaker 2: you see, he said, you see it has. Two lenses
- 19:55Speaker 2: your first time ever getting interviewed as a coordinator to
- 19:58Speaker 2: now having.
- 19:58Speaker 1: A few years being. A coordinator how vastly different.
- 20:00Speaker 2: It is but it's all a great, learning experience and
- 20:03Speaker 2: you're able to sit down with other high end people
- 20:05Speaker 2: from different organizations and you just kind of feel out
- 20:08Speaker 2: how different questions are, being asked what they're. Looking for
- 20:11Speaker 2: obviously a big learning experience from a professional. Development, aspect
- 20:15Speaker 2: now those of you who have followed along long enough
- 20:18Speaker 2: KNOW that i think very Highly Of.
- 20:20Speaker 1: MICHAEL clay i believe that he is.
- 20:24Speaker 2: A consummate he is an, innate leader a consummate pro
- 20:29Speaker 2: embraces his role as a special. Team's coordator he's the
- 20:32Speaker 2: only coach who works with every player on the, roster,
- 20:36Speaker 2: offense DEFENSE and i think that that's really unique in
- 20:39Speaker 2: the sense that you have a feel for what a
- 20:42Speaker 2: player is, good at you have a really good understanding
- 20:46Speaker 2: of what they all bring to, the table and you're
- 20:49Speaker 2: interacting with.
- 20:49Speaker 1: All of these.
- 20:50Speaker 2: Different pieces so he spoke also about rookie Long Snapper
- 20:54Speaker 2: rocco underwood and why that that was someone that the
- 20:57Speaker 2: team wanted to bring in as a.
- 20:59Speaker 1: Long snapper, He.
- 21:00Speaker 2: Says rocco a couple, Weeks in he's jailed really well
- 21:03Speaker 2: with the, veteran guys. Athletic individual it's nice that he
- 21:06Speaker 2: Played under he's Talking About florida Gators senior special Teams
- 21:09Speaker 2: Analyst joe houston with a coach IN. The nfl he
- 21:12Speaker 2: knows the riggers OF, the nfl probably from Talking.
- 21:15Speaker 1: To joe but he's doing a really.
- 21:16Speaker 2: Good, job obviously once the pads, come on he gets,
- 21:19Speaker 2: an actual, real rush but he's taking it. In stride
- 21:22Speaker 2: he's taking it stride. For stride sorry and Him And
- 21:25Speaker 2: special Teams Assistant Tyler. Brown meat Every day i'm in
- 21:28Speaker 2: there poking fun. In, Him still i'll rush him a,
- 21:30Speaker 2: couple times but he's going to get rushed by a
- 21:32Speaker 2: far better athlete in. GAME situations i think he's doing
- 21:35Speaker 2: a really good job of one geling with, the veterans
- 21:37Speaker 2: getting familiar, with them and, coming back coming into work
- 21:40Speaker 2: every day and trying to get better each and.
