- 0:00Speaker 1: Hell, okay, Mike, and talk to you in a while. How
- 0:02Speaker 1: you been.
- 0:03Speaker 2: I'm good, Greg, Thanks for having me.
- 0:05Speaker 3: We are in New England, just outside of Boston, actually
- 0:08Speaker 3: living closer to Foxborough these days, so yeah, thanks for
- 0:11Speaker 3: having me on.
- 0:12Speaker 2: Let's let's get to it.
- 0:13Speaker 4: Yeah, save the commute there first. Let me ask you,
- 0:16Speaker 4: all right, for selfish reasons. I'm seeing a forecast weather
- 0:19Speaker 4: next midweek next week of seventy eight eighty degrees in
- 0:22Speaker 4: New England. I'm going there for the Coast Guard Academy's graduation.
- 0:25Speaker 4: Our daughter is graduating, and we are praying that's outside
- 0:29Speaker 4: so that all eight of our family members coming can attend.
- 0:33Speaker 1: It looks like a New England. It's been a cold, wet,
- 0:36Speaker 1: New England spring and it looks like it's going to
- 0:37Speaker 1: get nice to me next week. So it was.
- 0:40Speaker 3: Yeah, the winter was brutal, very cold early, a lot
- 0:44Speaker 3: of snow mid and now we're getting some boomerang weather.
- 0:48Speaker 3: We've had a couple of nice days, a couple of
- 0:49Speaker 3: cold ones, but yeah, like you said.
- 0:51Speaker 2: It's getting it's getting up there.
- 0:53Speaker 3: We're getting closer the summertime. So they're looking forward to it.
- 0:55Speaker 2: And congratulations to your daughter.
- 0:57Speaker 1: That's awesome. Oh, thank you.
- 0:58Speaker 4: We go up and down I ninety three in ninety five,
- 1:00Speaker 4: quite a bit flying in the bush driving soon New London,
- 1:03Speaker 4: so I go buy your house all the time in
- 1:05Speaker 4: Foxburg where a couple of things have been going on
- 1:07Speaker 4: since we last saw the Patriots in the Super Bowl
- 1:09Speaker 4: against the Seahawks. Let me ask you about the Mike
- 1:13Speaker 4: Rabel situation. You were at mini camp last week with
- 1:15Speaker 4: the Patriots. You said you were going to look for
- 1:18Speaker 4: what his coaching demeanor was.
- 1:19Speaker 1: What was it? Yeah?
- 1:22Speaker 3: It was Uh, it really did look business as usual, Greg.
- 1:25Speaker 2: I did not see any and there had been.
- 1:27Speaker 3: Some reporting from people who had spoken to folks inside
- 1:32Speaker 3: the building that you know, Rabel hadn't been itself for
- 1:36Speaker 3: obvious reasons. After you know what's transpired over the last
- 1:39Speaker 3: month or so, a little bit more down, not as
- 1:42Speaker 3: a you know, robust or vibrant if you will, like
- 1:44Speaker 3: the like the regular world Mike Rabel that you know,
- 1:46Speaker 3: we we've grown to know and love here in New England.
- 1:49Speaker 3: But from what I saw watching the the hour and
- 1:53Speaker 3: you know, hour and a half session of Rockie Minnie
- 1:55Speaker 3: Camp on Saturday, he was he was the Mike Brabel
- 1:57Speaker 3: I knew from last season, smiling, laughing, a hands on
- 2:01Speaker 3: approach on the field, you know, had the had the
- 2:04Speaker 3: bags out with the guys and you know, making them
- 2:06Speaker 3: shed tackles off or shed blocks.
- 2:08Speaker 1: Off of him and what have you.
- 2:09Speaker 2: So no, he looked, he looked comfortable and ready to go.
- 2:12Speaker 3: And it kind of made me realize, Greg and not
- 2:15Speaker 3: to not to diminish the you know, the situation off
- 2:18Speaker 3: the field and what's happened, because obviously you know it's person,
- 2:20Speaker 3: it's personal, but it's also you know, real life stuff.
- 2:23Speaker 3: I do think that what it did to me was was,
- 2:28Speaker 3: you know, be able to almost separate the tell too
- 2:30Speaker 3: and be like, okay, you know Vrabel the Patriots and
- 2:33Speaker 3: and and what's going on with the Rassini saga. What
- 2:35Speaker 3: they need to for it to blow by is the football.
- 2:38Speaker 2: Season to happen.
- 2:39Speaker 3: Because when there's nothing going on, and when it's you know,
- 2:41Speaker 3: you're kind of sitting there waiting for the next shooter dropped,
- 2:43Speaker 3: if you will, that's the focus. Whereas once the pads
- 2:46Speaker 3: are on and you know you're inside those white lines,
- 2:48Speaker 3: that ends up being what you know, what really matters here.
- 2:51Speaker 4: Those of us that have covered the NFL for a while.
- 2:53Speaker 4: I've been doing it for twenty seven years. We tend
- 2:55Speaker 4: to think nothing's going to happen to Mike Rabel here
- 2:58Speaker 4: and it's a personal matter in the legal treated as such.
- 3:02Speaker 4: Is there an expect expectations the wrong word.
- 3:05Speaker 5: Is there any belief or ideas around New England or
- 3:09Speaker 5: around the team that if more shoes to use your word,
- 3:11Speaker 5: more shoes are to drop and this gets even more
- 3:15Speaker 5: of a mess, that he could possibly be disciplined either
- 3:19Speaker 5: by the league.
- 3:20Speaker 4: Or by the Patriots or what. Is there anything that's
- 3:23Speaker 4: going to come out of this if it got worse?
- 3:25Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't. I don't think so, and I definitely
- 3:29Speaker 3: uh to use you know what you just said. I
- 3:31Speaker 3: definitely don't think it would be a punishment from the
- 3:34Speaker 3: team or a punishment from the league unless there was
- 3:37Speaker 3: again some sort of long, you know, longer form investigation
- 3:41Speaker 3: that found that there was like significant hampering going on,
- 3:44Speaker 3: which I don't necessarily believe that to be the case.
- 3:46Speaker 3: The one thing that I'm continuing to sort of keep
- 3:49Speaker 3: my eye on.
- 3:49Speaker 2: Or watch for, is again, what more shoes drop.
- 3:52Speaker 3: Or if more stuff comes out, and you know, if
- 3:55Speaker 3: if if things off the field with with Mike and
- 3:57Speaker 3: his family and his wife and his two kids. If
- 4:01Speaker 3: that starts to you know, I guess if it starts
- 4:04Speaker 3: to continue to bubble up and doesn't go away, what
- 4:06Speaker 3: you know, what what are your priorities as you know,
- 4:09Speaker 3: as as a person, right because you know I said
- 4:11Speaker 3: it before, but you know, people think of of of
- 4:13Speaker 3: Mike Brabel and these coaches as as celebrities and as
- 4:17Speaker 3: as you know, athletes and as coaches. But there are
- 4:20Speaker 3: also real people just like you and I. And when
- 4:23Speaker 3: you know, when things happen outside of work, you've got
- 4:25Speaker 3: to go deal with that.
- 4:26Speaker 2: And and sometimes you have to put your.
- 4:27Speaker 3: Family and your well being and you know, your own
- 4:29Speaker 3: mental health as well.
- 4:30Speaker 2: As others as first.
- 4:31Speaker 3: And and clearly and I'm not I'm not trying to
- 4:34Speaker 3: make make Fike Rabel as you know, a sympathetic person here.
- 4:38Speaker 3: I mean, he made his own bed and what you
- 4:40Speaker 3: know what decisions he made with this.
- 4:41Speaker 2: But sometimes it may come to a.
- 4:43Speaker 3: Point where Okay, I got to step away and I
- 4:45Speaker 3: got to figure out my own personal life before I
- 4:48Speaker 3: worry about the New England Patriots.
- 4:49Speaker 2: And and football.
- 4:50Speaker 3: And I don't get the sense that that's gonna happen.
- 4:53Speaker 3: But I do just think that, you know, I'm I'm
- 4:55Speaker 3: sort of, I guess, waiting to see what more comes
- 4:58Speaker 3: of this, what more damage could be done off the
- 5:01Speaker 3: football field, and if he has to, you know, you know,
- 5:03Speaker 3: continue to put his family before.
- 5:05Speaker 2: The Patriots, which again, as you know it, you say
- 5:07Speaker 2: you cover in the league forever.
- 5:09Speaker 3: It's a full time job times too, being an NFL
- 5:12Speaker 3: coach and being in this industry, so you know, there's
- 5:14Speaker 3: there's again there's a lot of layers to it. But
- 5:17Speaker 3: from what I understand, I don't believe the team or
- 5:19Speaker 3: the league wants to wants to punish like Rabel for this.
- 5:22Speaker 3: It would be more so his doing if you were
- 5:24Speaker 3: to step away.
- 5:25Speaker 1: This is the voice of Mike Kathlick.
- 5:26Speaker 4: He's or illustrated Patriots NFL writer, talking to us from
- 5:30Speaker 4: Massachusetts on the Beacon Pumbing Hotline on ninety three point three.
- 5:32Speaker 1: K JR.
- 5:33Speaker 4: Fam you've written recently, at least I saw online he
- 5:36Speaker 4: said the first game you think should be Patriots Seahawks
- 5:38Speaker 4: in the Super Bowl rematch. Why do you think that?
- 5:41Speaker 4: And you have any indication that that's what they're going
- 5:42Speaker 4: to announce by Thursday?
- 5:45Speaker 3: So I've I do not have any you know, hard
- 5:48Speaker 3: reporting on that just yet. As far as who will
- 5:51Speaker 3: be I think, you know, just looking at the remaining
- 5:54Speaker 3: opponents that Seattle can take on in Week one, I
- 5:56Speaker 3: mean that the Chiefs got crossed off the list today
- 5:58Speaker 3: when it was announced that there we one game would
- 6:00Speaker 3: be against the Broncos. I'm on a night football, So
- 6:03Speaker 3: you're down to Cardinals, Chargers, Bears, and Patriots. And what
- 6:08Speaker 3: I'll do myself is cross off the Cardinals and I'll
- 6:10Speaker 3: even cross off the Chargers. I don't think the in
- 6:14Speaker 3: division matchup with the Cardinals is all that intriguing for
- 6:16Speaker 3: the league.
- 6:17Speaker 2: And then Seahawks Chargers.
- 6:18Speaker 3: I mean, while it could be a you know, a
- 6:20Speaker 3: fun game, I don't think that's going to bring the
- 6:22Speaker 3: added intrigues that the league wants. So when you look
- 6:24Speaker 3: at Patriots and you look at the Bears, and I
- 6:27Speaker 3: just think the Bears are a fun matchup. You have
- 6:30Speaker 3: Caleb Williams, you have Ben Johnson in the second year.
- 6:32Speaker 3: They obviously, you know, made waves and had some fireworks
- 6:35Speaker 3: games for themselves last year. But when you look at
- 6:38Speaker 3: the possibilities, you look at the implications of a Super
- 6:41Speaker 3: Bowl matchup, what it can really do, Greg is look at, okay,
- 6:45Speaker 3: what has Seattle done since the beginning of February, what
- 6:48Speaker 3: has New England done at the beginning of February? And
- 6:50Speaker 3: what changes have I mean really, I look at it
- 6:53Speaker 3: from a Patriots lens being being from around here and
- 6:55Speaker 3: covering the team. It's okay, did they do enough this
- 6:58Speaker 3: offseason to get the level they needed to last year
- 7:01Speaker 3: and to beat a team like Seattle. So there's obviously
- 7:04Speaker 3: a lot of storylines we'll bit into it as well
- 7:06Speaker 3: as the rematch, and you know, you put Mike Brabil
- 7:07Speaker 3: on the first game of the season after what's going
- 7:09Speaker 3: on as well. I think that adds a little bit
- 7:11Speaker 3: of added intrigue as well. Drake made the MVP runner
- 7:14Speaker 3: up and then a Seattle team, who, let's call it
- 7:17Speaker 3: like it was, they blew their doors off at the
- 7:20Speaker 3: you know, in the Super Bowl last season. So I
- 7:21Speaker 3: just think that of the remaining opponents, it makes a
- 7:24Speaker 3: lot of sense. And the only real Devil's advocate I
- 7:27Speaker 3: would throw out there is, Okay, well it was the
- 7:29Speaker 3: last game we just saw our fans, are we going
- 7:31Speaker 3: to be bored of them? Trotting those two teams out
- 7:33Speaker 3: once again for the first game of the season. But
- 7:35Speaker 3: you know, other than that, I think it's a slam duncan.
- 7:37Speaker 3: I think the the idea of a of a rematch
- 7:39Speaker 3: of the previous season.
- 7:40Speaker 2: Is a fun one that we could potentially say.
- 7:42Speaker 1: Let me ask you what the question you just positive there?
- 7:45Speaker 4: Did they do enough since the Super Bowl with their
- 7:48Speaker 4: roster to fix what the Seahawks has sploited?
- 7:52Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean the two things that I've sort of
- 7:56Speaker 3: you know, we sort of looked at here is, Okay,
- 7:58Speaker 3: Drake May didn't play his best football all in that
- 8:00Speaker 3: game or really down the stretch of the entire postseason.
- 8:02Speaker 3: And left tackle Will Campbell was was hurt as well,
- 8:06Speaker 3: and he clearly got you know, ate his lunch against
- 8:10Speaker 3: that that Seattle front seven.
- 8:12Speaker 2: And so I do think with what the Patriots has done,
- 8:15Speaker 2: they'd added on their offensive line.
- 8:17Speaker 3: They signed elajah Aa Tucker Well, Campbell will be healthy.
- 8:20Speaker 3: They draft kle Blomoo in the first round as sort
- 8:23Speaker 3: of a developmental tackle that you know, you will see
- 8:27Speaker 3: if they can either find him if he can beat
- 8:30Speaker 3: someone out on you know, either side of the offensive line,
- 8:32Speaker 3: or he's ends up just being a death piece and
- 8:34Speaker 3: somebody who you groomed to be your next right tackle.
- 8:37Speaker 3: But I think they've shored up the offensive line a
- 8:38Speaker 3: little bit.
- 8:39Speaker 2: I think when you look at.
- 8:41Speaker 3: A at a one for one swap between Romeo Dogs
- 8:44Speaker 3: and stef On Diggs, I kind of look at that
- 8:45Speaker 3: as a wash. But then we have this, you know,
- 8:48Speaker 3: impending a J. Brown trade that it you know, feels
- 8:51Speaker 3: like is all but inevitable once June first hits. And
- 8:54Speaker 3: I think that's really you know that that can be
- 8:57Speaker 3: as good as done. You can write that in ink
- 9:00Speaker 3: that AJ Brown is going to be a patriot barring
- 9:01Speaker 3: anything unforeseen. So you look at the weapons they've they've
- 9:05Speaker 3: brought brought in for Drake May, they've added more protection,
- 9:08Speaker 3: they helped him. And then on defense you you swap
- 9:12Speaker 3: out Jalen Hawkins for Kevin Byard. I think that's that's
- 9:14Speaker 3: a win in the safety book.
- 9:16Speaker 2: Harold Landry should come back healthy.
- 9:18Speaker 3: And then they had a guy like Raymond Jones, so
- 9:19Speaker 3: that edgroom as well. And so they've definitely added they've
- 9:23Speaker 3: definitely improved, not as well versus in you know, in
- 9:26Speaker 3: what Seattle has necessarily done. And I don't think it's
- 9:29Speaker 3: it necessarily means the Patriots if they were to match
- 9:31Speaker 3: up against them.
- 9:32Speaker 2: Would win, would win easily. But I think they've done.
- 9:35Speaker 3: Enough and fixed the holes they have on their roster
- 9:39Speaker 3: to to at least be able to compete with that
- 9:40Speaker 3: with the best of the best in the league.
- 9:42Speaker 4: Much of the Pacific just chuckled when you mentioned the
- 9:44Speaker 4: name Draymond Jones. This is Mike Kadwick here on ninety
- 9:47Speaker 4: three JRFM, talking with from Massachusetts about the Patriots.
- 9:51Speaker 6: Mike, I read your article about best potential landing spots
- 9:54Speaker 6: for Stefan Diggs and you mentioned that Digs evolving from
- 9:57Speaker 6: a big play receiver into more of that security blanket.
- 9:59Speaker 6: Which team on your list do you think would maximize
- 10:02Speaker 6: that version of his game the best?
- 10:05Speaker 3: Yeah, the So the three teams I had was the
- 10:08Speaker 3: the Raiders, the the Titans, and the New York Giants,
- 10:13Speaker 3: And out of the three.
- 10:15Speaker 2: I would say I really liked.
- 10:17Speaker 3: The idea of him going to Las Vegas and playing
- 10:19Speaker 3: for the Raiders. I mean, you have a young quarterback
- 10:22Speaker 3: in Fernanda Mendoza here trying to you know, kind of
- 10:26Speaker 3: groom to be that next guy. You signed Kirk Cousins,
- 10:28Speaker 3: who worked with stuff on Diggs in Minnesota, so they
- 10:30Speaker 3: have a rapport there.
- 10:31Speaker 1: So if if.
- 10:32Speaker 3: Cousins is the guy to start the season, you know,
- 10:34Speaker 3: that's a that's a turnkey QB wide receiver matchup that
- 10:37Speaker 3: you have in place already.
- 10:39Speaker 2: And and outside of of of a.
- 10:42Speaker 3: Dig signing there, a wide receiver room isn't really that
- 10:44Speaker 3: great there. And in Las Vegas, I mean, you signed,
- 10:47Speaker 3: they signed. Forgive me, they signed. They signed one of
- 10:51Speaker 3: the more of our Jalen Naylor I believe from Minnesota
- 10:54Speaker 3: and they but really outside of that they have Dante
- 10:56Speaker 3: Thorton and and Trey Tucker.
- 10:59Speaker 2: So I'm not you know, I'm.
- 11:00Speaker 3: Not sold on what they have at wide receiver. And
- 11:02Speaker 3: I just think that you said it there. I said,
- 11:04Speaker 3: you know, he was sort of dependable and was someone
- 11:06Speaker 3: who Drake May was able to kind of rely on
- 11:09Speaker 3: in crunch time and clutch moments and helped him, you know,
- 11:12Speaker 3: become an MVP runner up. And Diggs has been that
- 11:15Speaker 3: guy for you know, teams in the past. Look what
- 11:17Speaker 3: he did in Buffalo for Josh Allen. And I know
- 11:19Speaker 3: it was only one year, but he really was able
- 11:23Speaker 3: to take it in stride as being a part of
- 11:25Speaker 3: a wide receiver and by committee in Houston with C. J.
- 11:27Speaker 3: Stroud and so yeah, I think I think Diggs is
- 11:31Speaker 3: a you know, a good player to kind of have
- 11:34Speaker 3: around a young quarterback and help them growing. Out Of
- 11:37Speaker 3: those three, I would just say that I think the
- 11:39Speaker 3: Raiders make a ton of sense given where their room
- 11:41Speaker 3: is and how important the development Fernana Mendoza is going to.
- 11:44Speaker 1: Be sticking with receivers.
- 11:46Speaker 6: One playmaker who looked into his season early with an injury,
- 11:49Speaker 6: Tyreek Hill. Has there been any chatter around the league
- 11:52Speaker 6: about him? I know he's been in court for some
- 11:54Speaker 6: issues off the field, but yeah, has any Have you
- 11:57Speaker 6: heard anything about the future of him playing football for
- 12:00Speaker 6: anyone next season?
- 12:01Speaker 2: It's been it's been pretty quiet.
- 12:04Speaker 3: I haven't heard much on on Tyreek Hill at all.
- 12:06Speaker 2: I know that, and his season ended early last year
- 12:09Speaker 2: with a pretty gruesome knee injury. Uh, it doesn't seem.
- 12:12Speaker 3: Like he's going to be available at least to.
- 12:15Speaker 2: Start the season.
- 12:16Speaker 3: So I wonder if you know that turns into more
- 12:19Speaker 3: of a Okay, let him get healthy, wait and see.
- 12:22Speaker 2: Obviously what happens.
- 12:23Speaker 3: Like he said, off field situation with Hill, which you
- 12:26Speaker 3: know is always up in the air, a question mark
- 12:27Speaker 3: with that guy. But you know, as far as on
- 12:30Speaker 3: the field, he's obviously getting older as well and coming
- 12:32Speaker 3: off an injury. So you know, perhaps a team wait
- 12:36Speaker 3: through training camp, maybe guys get hurt, you know, late
- 12:38Speaker 3: in the season or mid.
- 12:40Speaker 2: To late in the season. If if you know, teams.
- 12:42Speaker 3: Wide receivers room has some attrition, Tyreek Hill could maybe
- 12:46Speaker 3: a guy to help get a team closer to a
- 12:48Speaker 3: Super Bowl championship or Super Bowl birth get over the top.
- 12:50Speaker 3: But for now, it doesn't seem like there's a there's
- 12:53Speaker 3: any momentum on the Tyreek Hill front signing anytime soon.
- 12:56Speaker 4: Mike greg May, is there a chance that he does
- 13:00Speaker 4: as an approach what he did in the regular season,
- 13:02Speaker 4: which was pretty meteoric and in almost an emergent breakout,
- 13:06Speaker 4: And what concern what if what is New England done?
- 13:09Speaker 4: Concern is the wrong word. What has New England done
- 13:11Speaker 4: around him to perhaps not have to rely on him
- 13:14Speaker 4: to be as good as he was last regular season?
- 13:17Speaker 2: Yeah, it's a good question.
- 13:18Speaker 3: We actually we betted this question around a little bit
- 13:21Speaker 3: yesterday on our podcast that uh you know I do
- 13:23Speaker 3: for for Seal on US Media here in Boston, and
- 13:27Speaker 3: talked about sort of Okay, could he take a step back?
- 13:30Speaker 3: And we kind of put a step back versus a
- 13:34Speaker 3: slump into two different buckets, right, because you know, a
- 13:37Speaker 3: slump would indicate you're playing worse football and you're not,
- 13:42Speaker 3: you know, you're not performing like you did you know,
- 13:43Speaker 3: the past year and making more mistakes and and obviously
- 13:46Speaker 3: that turns into you know, poor stats in turn and
- 13:49Speaker 3: then winning less games. But so a slump I don't
- 13:52Speaker 3: think is is.
- 13:54Speaker 2: Is something that would happen with Drake May. I think
- 13:55Speaker 2: he works too hard.
- 13:56Speaker 3: I think he has too much you know, too much
- 13:59Speaker 3: good or around him frankly and the coaching department for
- 14:02Speaker 3: a slump to happen. Now, a step back could be
- 14:06Speaker 3: different because you know, again he was he was the
- 14:09Speaker 3: MVP runner up last season. He led the league in
- 14:11Speaker 3: yards for attempts, He led the league in passeerrating, and
- 14:13Speaker 3: led the league completion percentage, I mean across the board.
- 14:15Speaker 3: He was the most efficient player the league saw in
- 14:18Speaker 3: twenty twenty five. And the only the other way you
- 14:22Speaker 3: don't step back from that is if you improve on
- 14:24Speaker 3: it and win the MVP. And I think, frankly, that's you know,
- 14:26Speaker 3: that's the expectations for that that that's a silly expectation,
- 14:30Speaker 3: and he asked about what New England done or did
- 14:32Speaker 3: around him this offseason. What they did was try and
- 14:35Speaker 3: help and build up their run game. They signed Julian Hill,
- 14:39Speaker 3: one of the better blocking tight ends in football. They
- 14:41Speaker 3: beefed up the offensive line, as I mentioned, bringing a
- 14:43Speaker 3: guy like Elijah vera Tucker and so they've sort of
- 14:47Speaker 3: made a and even a guy like Romeo Dobbs, not
- 14:50Speaker 3: that he's a, you know, a necessarily an X factor
- 14:53Speaker 3: in the run game, but someone who you know, enjoys
- 14:55Speaker 3: the block and give it us all and and help
- 14:57Speaker 3: out in the run game just as much as as
- 14:59Speaker 3: he in the past game. And you obviously have Matt Collins,
- 15:01Speaker 3: who's a great run blocking wide receiver, and so I
- 15:04Speaker 3: think they're going to rely more on.
- 15:06Speaker 2: The ground game. And then and Reggie Gillian as well
- 15:08Speaker 2: from the Buffalo Bills they signed. So I feel like
- 15:11Speaker 2: they're going to help Drake May on the ground and
- 15:14Speaker 2: that'll just open up the passing game even more.
- 15:17Speaker 3: And so with that, maybe a step back statistically and
- 15:19Speaker 3: with a with a little bit tougher of a schedule
- 15:21Speaker 3: this year, maybe they take a step back and wins.
- 15:23Speaker 3: But you know, as far as Drake May playing poor
- 15:26Speaker 3: football and looking like a worse football player in twenty twenty.
- 15:29Speaker 2: Six, I just don't see that.
- 15:30Speaker 3: I think he's too good of a player.
- 15:32Speaker 4: And it's still Ramondre Stevenson and Dreyvon Henderson probably doing duo,
- 15:36Speaker 4: yeah to do last year.
- 15:38Speaker 3: Yeah, I think so hope to see more from Henderson.
- 15:41Speaker 3: He was someone who was kind of a you know,
- 15:44Speaker 3: one one speed pony if you will. I mean he
- 15:48Speaker 3: didn't really read blocks too great. He was kind of
- 15:50Speaker 3: a home run hitter at a couple fifty plus Touchdownd
- 15:52Speaker 3: runs which was incredible, but he needs to improve between
- 15:55Speaker 3: the tackles and kind of finding running lanes. But which
- 15:57Speaker 3: is why I I just not that I've push back.
- 16:00Speaker 3: But I think it's still Ramondre Stevenson as the starter
- 16:02Speaker 3: and Trabona is a spell guy and maybe his his
- 16:05Speaker 3: carries continue to creep p and they can use him
- 16:07Speaker 3: in the past game a little bit. But you know,
- 16:09Speaker 3: definitely look forward to seeing Ramondra Stevens and you know,
- 16:11Speaker 3: take a fair share of the carries and continue that.
- 16:14Speaker 3: But yeah, those uh, it's those two in the backfield
- 16:16Speaker 3: and should be a pretty good, one two punch, two
- 16:19Speaker 3: headed monster at that.
- 16:20Speaker 4: I can tell you the sea how coaches think a
- 16:22Speaker 4: lot of Romandi Stevenson, he is a load and they
- 16:25Speaker 4: they schemed a lot of the Super Bowl and trying
- 16:27Speaker 4: to make sure they corrolld him.
- 16:29Speaker 1: So Mike, I don't hopefully, Well, well we will.
- 16:31Speaker 4: We'll call you again whenever they play the Patriots, whether
- 16:34Speaker 4: we'll find out in two days, whether that's September ninth
- 16:36Speaker 4: or not.
- 16:36Speaker 1: Thanks a lot for coming.
- 16:37Speaker 2: On, looking forward to it right there.
- 16:40Speaker 1: Give me son a new England next week. Please, thank you,
- 16:43Speaker 1: Mike Cadine.
- 16:43Speaker 2: All right, well I'll speak it into exhibit.
- 16:46Speaker 4: Yes, thank you, sir. Mike Cadiley talking with from Massachusetts.
- 16:49Speaker 4: He's Sports Illustrated now and the c s Ellen in Boston.
- 16:55Speaker 4: He joins us we've had him on the show before
- 16:57Speaker 4: talking Patriots, but a lot to talk about and he
- 16:59Speaker 4: thinks Patriots Seahawks is going to happen for Week one.
- 17:02Speaker 4: He admits it's probably Bears or Seat or Patriots against
- 17:06Speaker 4: the Seahawks for the very first NFL game. If you
- 17:08Speaker 4: miss start talking to the iHeartRadio app download that talks
- 17:12Speaker 4: about what they did around the offensive line to try
- 17:14Speaker 4: to bolster what the Seahawks exploited in the Super Bowl
- 17:17Speaker 4: and Super Bowl sixty and Will Campbell left tackle in particular,
- 17:21Speaker 4: four nine fours, a couple of comments about the Patriots,
- 17:25Speaker 4: and a couple and I agree with about the NFL
- 17:27Speaker 4: not wanting to put a spotlight on the verible story
- 17:30Speaker 4: and the signature game to start the season. We'll see
- 17:32Speaker 4: if they do it. We'll find out by Thursday. We'll
- 17:35Speaker 4: read back your text next. On ninety three point three KJRFM,
- 17:40Speaker 4: every time I hear Christopher Cross is sailing.
- 17:42Speaker 1: He had just the promo.
- 17:43Speaker 4: Just sad is when you think of my dad who's
- 17:45Speaker 4: honed the sailboat and all his life and passed away
- 17:48Speaker 4: last year.
- 17:49Speaker 1: But he loved that Christopher Cross sailing song when it
- 17:52Speaker 1: came out.
- 17:55Speaker 4: This week on ninety three point three KJRFM, Sounders against
- 17:58Speaker 4: the San Jose earthquake tomorrow night at the stadium, and
- 18:02Speaker 4: so six point thirty right here on the station. You're
- 18:04Speaker 4: gonna have the PGA Championship on the ear eleven AM
- 18:07Speaker 4: on Saturday. Then Saturday night Sounders play the LA Galaxy
- 18:12Speaker 4: at six twenty five, and then on the seventeenth Sunday
- 18:15Speaker 4: again the PGA Championship live on I Remember the PGA

- 18:24Speaker 4: from Gamble Sands, rounds of golf from Gamble Sands, and
- 18:29Speaker 4: golf lessons from the Pacific Northwest Golf Academy. You know
- 18:31Speaker 4: what time it is when you hear that music, It's
- 18:32Speaker 4: time to readback our text on the Tacoma Dodge text
- 18:35Speaker 4: line four nine four five to one.
- 18:37Speaker 6: We start off the show talking about the Seahawks schedule
- 18:41Speaker 6: and who their first opponent could potentially be. Greg and
- 18:45Speaker 6: I agree, it's got to be the Bears hopefully, and
- 18:48Speaker 6: then from the two six, give me the Bears for
- 18:50Speaker 6: the first game. I'm sick of Caleb talk, will be
- 18:52Speaker 6: nice to shut him down. Also feel like Caleb is overrated.
- 18:59Speaker 4: The Bears are fun team to watch though they throw
- 19:02Speaker 4: the ball down the field. They have an attacking defense.
- 19:06Speaker 1: They their defense.
- 19:08Speaker 6: I think they led the legue interceptions right, Yeah, they
- 19:10Speaker 6: just takeaways. Yeah, that was their thing.
- 19:13Speaker 1: Could have should have won that playoff game against the Rams.
- 19:16Speaker 1: That was an epic game. That was a really good game.
- 19:18Speaker 1: They are fun.
- 19:19Speaker 4: I think the Bears for those reasons, and they're an
- 19:21Speaker 4: up and coming team. Ben, not that it would be
- 19:25Speaker 4: a storyline for television, but Ben Johnson against Mike McDonald
- 19:28Speaker 4: and offensive mind against defensive mind.
- 19:30Speaker 1: Remember, men, Ben Johnson was on.
- 19:31Speaker 4: The list of the Seahawks people they wanted to talk
- 19:34Speaker 4: to for the head coaching job, and then he took
- 19:37Speaker 4: the Lion's job instead, and then here comes Mike McDonald
- 19:40Speaker 4: instead of that.
- 19:42Speaker 1: Yeah, I.
- 19:45Speaker 4: Just can't see them putting the Patriots in the Mike
- 19:47Speaker 4: Rabel's story.
- 19:48Speaker 6: Well maybe it's to try to get past that, right,
- 19:50Speaker 6: wouldn't that be a good distraction except.
- 19:53Speaker 4: That leading up to the game, that's all people gonna
- 19:54Speaker 4: probably talk about. But yeah, you're right.
- 19:56Speaker 6: If they traded aj Brown, then would that cover up
- 19:59Speaker 6: mus just mask.
- 20:00Speaker 1: It a little bit.
- 20:01Speaker 4: Well, the way it's come now, it's in this tabloid
- 20:03Speaker 4: phase of this story that the New York Post and
- 20:05Speaker 4: TMZ are going to continue getting people submitting them videos
- 20:09Speaker 4: and pictures and.
- 20:10Speaker 1: Boat running paid. And yeah, right, that's journalism. Huh yeah, exactly.
- 20:15Speaker 6: That's not journalism the the original ways.
- 20:19Speaker 1: I was taught the journalism that's right.
- 20:22Speaker 6: This is from the two to six first choice Bears.
- 20:26Speaker 6: I think it would be an amazing start to the season.
- 20:28Speaker 6: Second choice, I'll take the Patriots. It would probably be
- 20:32Speaker 6: one of the most viewed games of the year for
- 20:34Speaker 6: all the reasons.
- 20:35Speaker 1: Honestly, okay, it could be four to five.
- 20:39Speaker 4: Thank you as congrats to your daughter from uscg O
- 20:42Speaker 4: day grad There you go, got.
- 20:44Speaker 1: Us both in that hour we go.
- 20:45Speaker 6: Yeah, saw a lot of Prepster has been real quiet
- 20:48Speaker 6: on the text line.
- 20:49Speaker 1: Job job oda, gentlemen stepping up to the plate. Well,
- 20:52Speaker 1: thank you for that. Yes, very excited to get back there.
- 20:55Speaker 4: We readed a house could be like ten of us
- 20:57Speaker 4: in the family coming back and read out of the
- 20:59Speaker 4: water and New London's supposed to be seventy five degrees
- 21:02Speaker 4: in sunny.
- 21:02Speaker 1: It looks like Greg shirtless. You guys ready for it.
- 21:08Speaker 4: President Trump is scheduled to speak at our daughter's graduation.
- 21:12Speaker 4: If he does what he did at West Point, he went,
- 21:14Speaker 4: showed up and then left. I shouldn't even say politic
- 21:18Speaker 4: I'm just stating fact here that he was the only
- 21:20Speaker 4: commander in chief to ever attend a West Point graduation
- 21:24Speaker 4: and not stay to hand out the diplomas to the graduates.
- 21:28Speaker 1: I got better things to do.
- 21:29Speaker 4: He was golfing before the ceremony ended. He was back
- 21:32Speaker 4: on his off course in New Jersey.
- 21:36Speaker 1: I'm just saying, I'm just I'm not trying to be player.
- 21:38Speaker 1: I'm just stayed.
- 21:38Speaker 4: In fact, I got my diploma from Bill Clinton, saluted
- 21:43Speaker 4: him his hand, shook his hand.
- 21:46Speaker 1: Did that for a thousand graduates? It was a regular hand, Chris.
- 21:48Speaker 1: Nothing special I had to take I did, did you whisper?
- 21:53Speaker 1: I took the white glove off my right hand and shook.
- 21:56Speaker 1: I would have asked that.
- 21:57Speaker 4: At the time, he was very unpopular on the milit communications.
- 22:00Speaker 4: He was cutting everything left and right, including budgets and positions,
- 22:05Speaker 4: and dudes got out early after a year and a
- 22:07Speaker 4: half at West Point during that era, We'll never have
- 22:10Speaker 4: a two front war. Why are we having all this
- 22:11Speaker 4: in the military. Yeah, but yeah, I did receive mine
- 22:14Speaker 4: from Bill Clinton. I have a picture and the Poughkeepsie
- 22:18Speaker 4: Journal took a picture of there and met BC. All right,
- 22:20Speaker 4: all right, my daughters, what else has greg not told
- 22:24Speaker 4: us about it?
- 22:27Speaker 1: From the four two five you talked.
- 22:29Speaker 6: About Julio and everyone burning his feet. Literally when things
- 22:34Speaker 6: don't go mad, well they sure do so. From the
- 22:37Speaker 6: four two five, their receipts. There are receipts where I
- 22:40Speaker 6: said Julio will start earlier this year because of the
- 22:43Speaker 6: World Baseball Tournament team.
- 22:46Speaker 1: So that's interesting.
- 22:47Speaker 4: Ian talked about that yesterday. I might drive home from
- 22:49Speaker 4: our show about how the World Baseball Classic did Cal
- 22:52Speaker 4: Rawley no favors and how that all went down. Remember,
- 22:55Speaker 4: he got benched for how poorly he was hitting in
- 22:58Speaker 4: the World Baseball Classic and then we all in Seattle
- 23:00Speaker 4: were up in arms about how he didn't even get
- 23:02Speaker 4: to pinch hit in the final game and all that. Well,
- 23:05Speaker 4: he was basically idled for most of that time he
- 23:09Speaker 4: was away from the Mariners and at the WBC, and
- 23:12Speaker 4: that that could be a contributing factor, trickle down effect.
- 23:15Speaker 4: Joe six said it was very obvious to me. Brendan
- 23:18Speaker 4: Donovan has been working on his third base defense, making
- 23:20Speaker 4: excellent plays and looks better on routine ones. Also feels
- 23:24Speaker 4: like the team is playing with more confidence. I thought
- 23:26Speaker 4: the White Sox bullpen and pitching in general way better
- 23:28Speaker 4: than people think thanks to the two h six for
- 23:31Speaker 4: him putting.
- 23:33Speaker 6: From the four two five. Even more confident the Seahawks
- 23:37Speaker 6: will win by double digits against the Patriots. Whenever they
- 23:39Speaker 6: play them a developmental offensive line and Draymond Jones question mark,
- 23:44Speaker 6: question mark question mark when he said, dray much you
- 23:47Speaker 6: and I just looked at it like, yeah, you know
- 23:49Speaker 6: there's the reason why he is. Yeah, we'll leave it
- 23:51Speaker 6: at that.
- 23:52Speaker 4: Fifty one million didn't do anything. Yeah, I just didn't.
- 23:56Speaker 4: He was just a number roun rounds like, what is
- 23:58Speaker 4: Draymond doing?
- 24:00Speaker 6: Are you supposed to be going after the quarterback or
- 24:01Speaker 6: stopping the run and you're not doing any of that?
- 24:04Speaker 3: He was.
- 24:04Speaker 6: McDonald said, yeah, we're good off that, but thank you
- 24:07Speaker 6: for your time, Sir.
- 24:09Speaker 1: Michael, five to three. Friend of the show.
- 24:11Speaker 4: I agree that Cal is extremely all caps valuable to
- 24:14Speaker 4: our pitching staff. But Kyle needs to unlearn what he
- 24:17Speaker 4: has learned and take a deep breath, as do the fans.
- 24:21Speaker 4: Act accordingly and actors as if we've been here before.
- 24:24Speaker 4: This start is not anything new, and with the weather
- 24:27Speaker 4: warming up so well, the Bats go ems and get
- 24:30Speaker 4: coach Honggren in the Hall of Fame.
- 24:32Speaker 6: Man, you're here still covered a lot of ground there
- 24:36Speaker 6: that needs to happen yesterday. So we'll see what happens here.
- 24:39Speaker 1: We go again.
- 24:40Speaker 4: Two five three, good point here what if the ten
- 24:42Speaker 4: days aways don't change anything, So more of a chance
- 24:45Speaker 4: he finds whatever is bothering Cow while he's playing instead
- 24:49Speaker 4: of while he's sitting.
- 24:50Speaker 1: That's true, that is a possibility, all right. From the
- 24:54Speaker 1: two five to three. Sit Cow for a bit.
- 24:58Speaker 6: Number two, find Moreking, sit on offense. Three send Castillo
- 25:03Speaker 6: to the bullpen. He is a veteran and his desire
- 25:05Speaker 6: to win a World Series should be bigger than his
- 25:08Speaker 6: ego of being a better than average starter for the
- 25:10Speaker 6: most of his career. Number four Dan needs to not
- 25:14Speaker 6: really lean on analytics so much and go with the
- 25:16Speaker 6: gut filling like old school baseball. Five and most of all,
- 25:21Speaker 6: just win one game at a time.
- 25:25Speaker 1: I was a lot.
- 25:26Speaker 4: But you know what number four is. If he didn't
- 25:29Speaker 4: go with the analytics, he wouldn't be their manager anymore.
- 25:31Speaker 4: I think, Yeah, you touched on that quite a bit yesterday.
- 25:34Speaker 4: I think there could be a lot of truth to that.
- 25:37Speaker 6: Like the Mariners had it all set up for him
- 25:39Speaker 6: to do it this way, and if he doesn't do
- 25:41Speaker 6: it this way, you're not getting hired. And they're looking
- 25:43Speaker 6: for that coach that will look at analytics and take
- 25:47Speaker 6: that and try to win games. So well, Well, Dani
- 25:50Speaker 6: Wilson never admit that. Who knows.
- 25:53Speaker 1: I really think that's why he's here. I'm convinced of that. No,
- 25:58Speaker 1: I hear you. I think that's fair. Two o six.
- 26:01Speaker 4: I think I remember that kid guy from fourteen months
- 26:03Speaker 4: ago when he got a chance to speak on air
- 26:05Speaker 4: Welcome back Chris.
- 26:08Speaker 1: I had to read that. I'm sure that makes me laugh.
- 26:11Speaker 4: Yeah, all right, that was a cont That was part
- 26:14Speaker 4: of my objective when I came back to the show,
- 26:16Speaker 4: just to let you.
- 26:16Speaker 6: Know, not fair enough. This is a good one from
- 26:18Speaker 6: the six oh three. Not much of talk about except
- 26:20Speaker 6: go Navy beat Army.
- 26:21Speaker 1: No kid for.
- 26:22Speaker 4: Tad, Okay, yeah.
- 26:27Speaker 1: Those are you on YouTube?
- 26:29Speaker 4: Support in my Army West Point Lacrosse A good friend
- 26:33Speaker 4: of mine, captain of the Army of lacrosse team, had
- 26:35Speaker 4: a jersey number forty two, retired by Army Lacrosse. Gave
- 26:39Speaker 4: me this Steve Heller outside Philadelphia.
- 26:43Speaker 1: Two three.
- 26:44Speaker 4: Kyle is valuable as a catcher to the pictures. Too
- 26:47Speaker 4: valuable to sit him good point three six oh, sorry,
- 26:52Speaker 4: go ahead, go ahead three six oh. When Kyle Rawley
- 26:55Speaker 4: first started using the torpedo bat, I felt like he
- 26:58Speaker 4: relaxed the swing.
- 26:59Speaker 1: Do you recall that maybe he needs a double torpedo bat.
- 27:03Speaker 1: Now you know what, Cole, just get out of your
- 27:06Speaker 1: own head. I think you'll be fine.
- 27:08Speaker 6: Maybe take Greg's advice and take that ten day rest period.
- 27:12Speaker 1: Obviously it probably have to come from you.
- 27:13Speaker 6: I don't know if the Mariners are going to say, hey, yeah,
- 27:16Speaker 6: go sit down for ten games, Bud.
- 27:18Speaker 1: So we'll see how that plays out. Maybe he does
- 27:20Speaker 1: do that.
- 27:21Speaker 4: Two five three says I'm want to see the bears
- 27:23Speaker 4: in what colored nail polished catub uses that night?
- 27:25Speaker 1: Hey, you know, I know that's a.
- 27:30Speaker 4: I have friends of mine who have young daughters and
- 27:32Speaker 4: they have their nails painted by their daughters and they
- 27:34Speaker 4: get a roaring kick out of it.
- 27:36Speaker 6: I mean, yes, but I understand as a grown man,
- 27:39Speaker 6: I just for me, I wouldn't do that. I'm not
- 27:41Speaker 6: saying it's wrong to do or you should and should not.
- 27:44Speaker 6: That's just not how I get down. But if you
- 27:45Speaker 6: have a little girl, well then I'll do it at home,
- 27:48Speaker 6: but when I leave the crib.
- 27:49Speaker 1: But then if you take it off when you leave
- 27:51Speaker 1: the crib, I'll explain to her, Hey, baby girl, daddy
- 27:53Speaker 1: is like four years old. Should be sure understand she
- 27:56Speaker 1: won't cry.
- 27:58Speaker 4: She's a tough kid. Get it says that says to
- 28:01Speaker 4: be parent. Perhaps take it from a twenty dad with
- 28:04Speaker 4: twenty three year old. She will be crying if you
- 28:07Speaker 4: did that.
- 28:07Speaker 1: And you know what Daddy will say, it'll all be okay.
- 28:09Speaker 6: I'll put it back on as soon as we get home, honey,
- 28:11Speaker 6: and she'll be like okay hopefully or to your point,
- 28:15Speaker 6: she'll continue crying.
- 28:16Speaker 1: And I just l for Chris right fire two five three,
- 28:21Speaker 1: Fire the iPad.
- 28:23Speaker 4: And meeting the Marritters. How they follow analytics? Yeah, fire
- 28:29Speaker 4: the iPad. That's the organization is definitely definitely wedded to it.
- 28:34Speaker 1: It's analytics.
- 28:36Speaker 4: Next time they pinch it look greatly for Connor Joe,
- 28:38Speaker 4: I think I might just throw the TV away.
- 28:41Speaker 1: Don't do that. I don't know if the wife would
- 28:43Speaker 1: agree with that. She would be happy to have my
- 28:45Speaker 1: TV gun. Oh they're okay, Well, didn't do it, Greg.
- 28:48Speaker 4: We are not allowed to have televisions anywhere near the bedrooms.
- 28:52Speaker 6: Yeah, I'm with you on that. That's just a Now
- 28:54Speaker 6: that my wife, that's a good text question. How many
- 28:56Speaker 6: of you have?
- 28:57Speaker 1: Everyone? My wife said it no way, why cheat it?
- 29:01Speaker 6: She brings a big ass projector, so we have a
- 29:03Speaker 6: projector in the movie night in the room.
- 29:05Speaker 1: But we try. I try not to. I want to
- 29:07Speaker 1: go to bed if I go into that bedroom. That's
- 29:09Speaker 1: what my wife says. Yeah, I'm going to bed.
- 29:11Speaker 6: I'm not about to be projecting a film because sometimes
- 29:13Speaker 6: we'll be on the couch.
- 29:15Speaker 1: Oh I'm getting tired. Oh let's go finish it in
- 29:17Speaker 1: the room. No, that's that's you. You and my wife
- 29:20Speaker 1: think exactly. Yeah, I'm like, I'm not going in or
- 29:22Speaker 1: to finish the movie. I'm going in to go to bed.
- 29:24Speaker 1: You see them phone seople on the couch.
- 29:27Speaker 4: I want one TV and a twenty five hundred square
- 29:29Speaker 4: foot house in Green Lake. That one TV is like
- 29:32Speaker 4: thirty inches make twenty eight. I get made fun of
- 29:34Speaker 4: all the time by my sports love and buddies who
- 29:36Speaker 4: come into our house.
- 29:37Speaker 1: Oh, well your TV.
- 29:38Speaker 4: Yeah, I've had Super Bowl parties and there I'm going
- 29:41Speaker 4: to Bell's house.
- 29:42Speaker 1: TV's too small, but fine. My wife does not like television.
- 29:46Speaker 4: She just doesn't. She thinks it's a waste of time.
- 29:48Speaker 4: But she's sure as helldo's.
- 29:50Speaker 1: In the bedroom.
- 29:51Speaker 6: But I do know that's a very common thing. Yeah,
- 29:53Speaker 6: I'm guessing everyone of the text. I was like, yep,
- 29:55Speaker 6: I got it into my room. Yep, I got it
- 29:56Speaker 6: in my room. And I'm just like, Nay, not a
- 29:59Speaker 6: fan of it.
- 30:00Speaker 1: Agree.
- 30:00Speaker 4: So we're clouds today. I hope you guys are happy. Yeah,
- 30:04Speaker 4: that's the thirty something guy yelling at the not the
- 30:07Speaker 4: fifty five year old guy. See the mayor, he is
- 30:13Speaker 4: outside the door. I'm just making sure there's nothing else
- 30:16Speaker 4: we should really really run. Oh there is something I
- 30:18Speaker 4: we did want to talk about. Four two five, Ask
- 30:20Speaker 4: what's your take on these rumblings lately about the Hawks
- 30:23Speaker 4: needing in new stadium?
- 30:23Speaker 1: God you ask?
- 30:24Speaker 4: That was one person, Seth Wickersham of ESPN putting that
- 30:29Speaker 4: nugget in a story about the Seahawks potential sale and
- 30:32Speaker 4: potential bidders for it. I believe that came from an
- 30:35Speaker 4: owner of another team, perhaps a one team such as
- 30:39Speaker 4: the Patriots, who have built these stadiums to have these
- 30:43Speaker 4: entertainment slash shopping slash living districts in complexes right with it.
- 30:48Speaker 4: The Patriots Stadium in Foxborough has a bunch of restaurants
- 30:51Speaker 4: and bars and apartments right there that the Patriots get
- 30:53Speaker 4: all the revenue from and the new Bill Stadium, for instance,
- 30:57Speaker 4: is outside Buffalo. The reason it's staying outside Buffalo so
- 30:59Speaker 4: they can build one of those districts around it.
- 31:02Speaker 1: There's not that district, of.
- 31:03Speaker 4: Course in Seattle, because outside of the stateyum in Seattle
- 31:06Speaker 4: is Seattle, not.
- 31:07Speaker 1: Like Foxborough and Orchard Park, New York and things like that.
- 31:11Speaker 4: So I think that has come sec that's Wickersham is
- 31:14Speaker 4: parroting what an owner from another team believes. A new
- 31:17Speaker 4: owner can come in and want to maximize profits. And
- 31:20Speaker 4: I will say this, when you sell a team, this
- 31:24Speaker 4: is part of what you get when you have a
- 31:26Speaker 4: buyer that can come in and do what a buyer
- 31:28Speaker 4: that spend billions, if they're going to spend eight to
- 31:29Speaker 4: ten or nine ten billion dollars, they can do what
- 31:33Speaker 4: they want to do. That's what owning a team is
- 31:36Speaker 4: all about. And that is some of the risk that
- 31:38Speaker 4: happens when you sell a team and there's transition, that's
- 31:41Speaker 4: some of the change that could happen. I will say this,
- 31:44Speaker 4: I have gotten no indication, any of my reporting, any
- 31:46Speaker 4: of my connection to Seahawks whatsoever, that they are going
- 31:49Speaker 4: to build a new stadium with new owners. A freshening
- 31:52Speaker 4: up of some kind of lumen field is not out
- 31:54Speaker 4: of the question. But there's nothing that I know of
- 31:57Speaker 4: in my reporting and knowing of the Seahawks that says
- 32:00Speaker 4: there's a new stadium coming. I think again, that's positing
- 32:03Speaker 4: by a new owner or excuse me, a current NFL
- 32:05Speaker 4: owner to a reporter who put it in this story.
- 32:08Speaker 4: So I'm glad we got to that one. So that's
- 32:09Speaker 4: the only time I've mentioned this on our show so far.
- 32:12Speaker 4: The Mayor Maple Valley in Fornests is up next to
- 32:14Speaker 4: chat with me before his show twelve to three on
- 32:15Speaker 4: ninety three point three KJRFM. Well, welcome back to the
- 32:31Speaker 4: Greg Bell Show with Christopher Kidd, which now includes Ian
- 32:34Speaker 4: Forness because he joins us before his show starts from
- 32:36Speaker 4: twelve until three.
- 32:37Speaker 1: Hello, sir, oh are you oh swell?
- 32:40Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 32:40Speaker 1: Well, you said you listened with some interesting that was interesting.
- 32:43Speaker 7: In the conversation with Yeah, the reporter from Boston about
- 32:48Speaker 7: about Mike Vrabel, I guess I didn't expect anything different.
- 32:51Speaker 7: It's just, uh, I don't know, and I don't even
- 32:56Speaker 7: know where I stand one hundred percent on it. To
- 32:57Speaker 7: be honest with you, we don't have any skin in
- 32:59Speaker 7: the game, so to speak. But man, a lot of
- 33:02Speaker 7: places if that was if that was like you or me,
- 33:07Speaker 7: or a lot of other businesses and something like that
- 33:10Speaker 7: was that public And we don't even know everything yet,
- 33:15Speaker 7: I don't think it feels like there's a lot more
- 33:16Speaker 7: to the story, a lot more salaciousness. I don't know
- 33:20Speaker 7: how you keep your job, especially if you're a leader
- 33:23Speaker 7: of men. Yeah, Like, you're not just a You're just
- 33:26Speaker 7: not just a guy on the on the on the
- 33:29Speaker 7: you know, for all due respect to the blue collar world,
- 33:32Speaker 7: you're not just a guy on the line. You're a
- 33:34Speaker 7: guy that's supposed to be leading people.
- 33:36Speaker 4: Well, I will tell you from that perspective. In my
- 33:38Speaker 4: former life in the army, if this happened, you are
- 33:41Speaker 4: subject to a court martial. But having said that, if
- 33:46Speaker 4: you're in New England right now.
- 33:47Speaker 7: And every every job, every profession, every business has its
- 33:50Speaker 7: own set of you know, ethics rules, bars that you
- 33:54Speaker 7: can't you know, things you can't do. But yeah, right,
- 33:57Speaker 7: like and like, I don't root for anbody loser job necessarily,
- 34:00Speaker 7: it's just I mean, she's lost her she's never I
- 34:04Speaker 7: don't think she can bounce back, right, She.
- 34:08Speaker 1: May have a tough all coming sometime.
- 34:09Speaker 7: That's how she's gonna make her money, all right, that's
- 34:12Speaker 7: how you're gonna you're gonna make up for whatever you've
- 34:15Speaker 7: lost in terms of cash money.
- 34:16Speaker 1: Is bar still will take her? Yeah?
- 34:19Speaker 7: But that just that maybe probably, But man, that just
- 34:25Speaker 7: perpetuates what we're all.
- 34:26Speaker 1: Thinking, right, it does, right?
- 34:29Speaker 4: I mean, what if I ask you this off with
- 34:31Speaker 4: the Aaron. I want the listeners to think about this.
- 34:35Speaker 4: What if I don't even want to say what if
- 34:36Speaker 4: this was Seattle because I don't want to disparage Mike McDonald,
- 34:39Speaker 4: who as an upstanding individual and he's a great family.
- 34:43Speaker 4: But if you're in New England right now, you're thinking,
- 34:45Speaker 4: wait a minute, Mike Rabel just took us to a
- 34:47Speaker 4: super Bowl, an unexpected one with a second year quarterback.
- 34:51Speaker 1: We're not firing for this.
- 34:52Speaker 7: Well that's kind of the that just listening to the conversation.
- 34:55Speaker 7: I mean, you know, that's a guy that's in it
- 34:57Speaker 7: every day. He's like whatever, you know, we move on,
- 34:59Speaker 7: And I think were times probably nothing like this necessarily,
- 35:04Speaker 7: but gosh when when you know, when we had big
- 35:08Speaker 7: personalities and things were happening here. I think the perception
- 35:10Speaker 7: always was different from Seattle from the outside looking in
- 35:12Speaker 7: than it was for us on it every day. Sure,
- 35:15Speaker 7: you know what's marshawn like shurm whatever? Is it really
- 35:18Speaker 7: that bad relationship here there that different things going on?
- 35:20Speaker 7: It's like, you know, which business as usual is how
- 35:22Speaker 7: we handle things?
- 35:23Speaker 1: Right.
- 35:23Speaker 7: So you also have an owner that's had his own
- 35:27Speaker 7: issues over the years, right, and Robert Kraft right.
- 35:29Speaker 4: Who allegedly, in a report tried to kill the story
- 35:33Speaker 4: with The New York Post and had a crisis manager
- 35:35Speaker 4: at the time it was about to come out, called
- 35:37Speaker 4: the New York Post and asked.
- 35:38Speaker 1: It be killed. Smart move.
- 35:40Speaker 4: He obviously was anticipating the fallout that has since happened.
- 35:44Speaker 7: Yeah, yeah, So I don't I mean, I think if
- 35:47Speaker 7: if it really is no big deal, then does the NFL.
- 35:51Speaker 7: I mean, why wouldn't you just do Seattle in New
- 35:52Speaker 7: England to open up the season and play it back.
- 35:54Speaker 7: But I think you mentioned earlier that Super Bowl for
- 35:57Speaker 7: anybody not named a Seattle Seahawks fan was no nothing,
- 36:01Speaker 7: nothing compelling about it.
- 36:02Speaker 1: That was like one of the worst, right. It was like, yeah,
- 36:05Speaker 1: forty nine ers back in the day in the Super.
- 36:07Speaker 7: Bow, it was it was not good, So why would
- 36:09Speaker 7: you run Why would you want to run that back?
- 36:11Speaker 7: And at the same and really they're probably for being honest.
- 36:14Speaker 7: New England's on a favorite to get back to the
- 36:15Speaker 7: super Bowl from the AFC. I mean they they benefited
- 36:17Speaker 7: from bon Nix's injury and some other stuff that happened.
- 36:20Speaker 1: But I would I would say.
- 36:24Speaker 7: I mean, Chicago seems to be the logical pick, right,
- 36:26Speaker 7: it would seem so yeah, I mean I mentioned a
- 36:28Speaker 7: softy yesterday. I'd rather just be Arizona. If you're a
- 36:30Speaker 7: Sea owk man, just give me, give me a team
- 36:32Speaker 7: you're gonna kick the crap out of it.
- 36:33Speaker 1: Watch anyway.
- 36:34Speaker 7: Really, everyoney's gonna watch anyway. Give me, give me Arizona,
- 36:36Speaker 7: get a w to start the season and move on. Right,
- 36:40Speaker 7: Well do you have Chris is gonna tell me I
- 36:42Speaker 7: gotta go? So what do you have to do?
- 36:43Speaker 1: Okay, we got coming up.
- 36:44Speaker 7: We're gonna check in with Joe shean weekly visit coming
- 36:46Speaker 7: up at one twenty today and at two o'clock John
- 36:49Speaker 7: Lunn his weekly visit, as well as Howard Schultz trying
- 36:51Speaker 7: to torpedo a chance for the Sonics to come back
- 36:53Speaker 7: in his own greasy way, we'll.
- 36:55Speaker 1: Hit on that. Howard Schultz talking about Seattle.
- 36:57Speaker 7: Yeah, we'll get into that a little bit. And the
- 36:59Speaker 7: one o'clock out are also on the twelve o'clock hour. Also,
- 37:01Speaker 7: we'll touch in on the conversation. We have Gary Perris
- 37:03Speaker 7: yesterday worst idea is ever in sports, and that would
- 37:06Speaker 7: be the expansion of the NCAA term. There's got to
- 37:08Speaker 7: be the other ones out there too, so we'll kind
- 37:09Speaker 7: of try to wriggle that out of our listeners along
- 37:12Speaker 7: the way. That's a good one, real quick. Craig from
- 37:15Speaker 7: Fox is on two Fight three, a good friend of
- 37:16Speaker 7: ours on the show. Big questions, Actually, what would be
- 37:18Speaker 7: happening with Rabel right now if he had a mediocre
- 37:20Speaker 7: season in New England versus playing in a super Bowl?
- 37:23Speaker 7: Shouldn't be a double standard, but I bet there is.
- 37:25Speaker 7: Timing is everything, though, Yes, if it would have happened
- 37:27Speaker 7: earlier in the offseason.
- 37:28Speaker 4: That's true. That's true. The timing does matter because now
- 37:32Speaker 4: there are well on their way to planning the following season.
- 37:35Speaker 4: Chris Kay, Greg Bell, thank you for listening. We'll do
- 37:37Speaker 4: it again tomorrow ten am to noon. We will do
- 37:39Speaker 4: it every day ten am to noon. Next, and Farness
- 37:42Speaker 4: and his Gang on ninety three point three KJRFM.
