- 0:27Speaker 4: The New England Patriots.
- 0:28Speaker 5: And today we are in the trenches talking offensive line.
- 0:31Speaker 5: We got a film breakdown from Evan, another mock draft
- 0:33Speaker 5: from Matisa Chris that Evan's gonna tear apart for us,
- 0:36Speaker 5: as well as an interview with Brandon Thorne. So offensive line, guys,
- 0:39Speaker 5: it's a big need. But first, I just want to
- 0:41Speaker 5: kind of set the table a little bit here with
- 0:43Speaker 5: some of the latest news. Joe Milton formally traded last
- 0:46Speaker 5: week to the Cowboys. Paul, do you see this impacting
- 0:48Speaker 5: the Patriots draft plans at the quarterback position.
- 0:51Speaker 6: I really don't. I think there's always a chance that
- 0:53Speaker 6: you could take a quarterback later in the draft Day
- 0:55Speaker 6: three at some time. I think it's something that a
- 0:58Speaker 6: lot of teams try to do good practice, but I
- 1:01Speaker 6: don't necessarily see it being any more of an issue
- 1:04Speaker 6: right now. My guess is somebody that's not on the
- 1:07Speaker 6: roster at that position will be on the roster at
- 1:10Speaker 6: some point during the offseason. I don't think it necessarily
- 1:12Speaker 6: has to be a draft pick.
- 1:13Speaker 4: What do you think.
- 1:13Speaker 5: You have a couple of names out there, maybe Day
- 1:15Speaker 5: three fire kind of guys.
- 1:17Speaker 3: You know.
- 1:17Speaker 7: The one guy that sticks out to me that just
- 1:20Speaker 7: sort of fits the backup quarterback mold as Riley Leonard
- 1:23Speaker 7: from Notre Dame has some athleticism, so he kind of
- 1:26Speaker 7: plays a little bit like Drake May, So you will
- 1:29Speaker 7: have that. It's clear that Joe Milton, you know, it
- 1:33Speaker 7: didn't work out in terms of his long term view
- 1:35Speaker 7: of his role on the team. So if you truly
- 1:37Speaker 7: want a guy that's okay with kind of being a
- 1:40Speaker 7: career backup, then that's tough. Like I think that's tough
- 1:43Speaker 7: to find somebody that's truly going to come into the
- 1:46Speaker 7: league as a rookie and say, well, all this backup
- 1:49Speaker 7: Drake May for ten years.
- 1:51Speaker 3: You know, not everybody's wired like that.
- 1:52Speaker 7: So I'm interested to see how to handle that, you know,
- 1:56Speaker 7: is it just a camp arm and Josh Dobbs is
- 1:58Speaker 7: truly the backup and there's really no competition there for
- 2:02Speaker 7: the second quarterback spot.
- 2:04Speaker 3: That's kind of where I'm.
- 2:05Speaker 7: Leaning, is that maybe it's a they have two seventh
- 2:08Speaker 7: round picks, right, a seventh round pick, a UDFA fly er,
- 2:12Speaker 7: something like that.
- 2:12Speaker 5: What do you think, TC, And you write the final
- 2:14Speaker 5: chapter here for Joe Milton. I mean it wasn't here
- 2:16Speaker 5: very long, but hey, he made some entertaining backflips, a
- 2:19Speaker 5: couple of big throws, and had a nice game at
- 2:21Speaker 5: the end.
- 2:21Speaker 8: Of the season. Yeah, we got some good content out
- 2:23Speaker 8: of it. I would have liked to keep maybe one
- 2:24Speaker 8: more year. I don't think it would have hurt to
- 2:26Speaker 8: keep him. But Paul said this before. It's never bad
- 2:28Speaker 8: business to draft a quarterback. So you take somebody six
- 2:30Speaker 8: round or later. Who knows, but I think Josh dobs
- 2:33Speaker 8: will be number two this year.
- 2:35Speaker 5: All right, guys, So this is the offensive line episode,
- 2:37Speaker 5: and I just want to set it up with where
- 2:38Speaker 5: the Patriots are at, because I think there's a lot
- 2:40Speaker 5: of unknown factors right now with this offensive line. Paul,
- 2:44Speaker 5: you said on Patriots Unfiltered this week beside Morgan Moses.
- 2:47Speaker 5: You feel pretty good about your right tackle right now?
- 2:50Speaker 5: After that, it's a lot of guys that they've drafted
- 2:52Speaker 5: that haven't quite developed unknown quantities. I mean, you can
- 2:55Speaker 5: go right down the list with last year's two guys,
- 2:57Speaker 5: Caden Wallace, Laydon Robinson. Two years ago you had City,
- 3:00Speaker 5: so Michael when you feel pretty good about him hopefully
- 3:03Speaker 5: having a bounce back year there at right guard back
- 3:06Speaker 5: under Josh McDaniels. But Senator James bat Bradberry you bring
- 3:10Speaker 5: him in and maybe replace David Andrews. Still some uncertainty there.
- 3:14Speaker 5: How do you see this whole position group lineup? We
- 3:16Speaker 5: know about the need at tackle.
- 3:17Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean obviously that's the number one priority, is
- 3:19Speaker 6: left tackle. I do like the idea of the competition
- 3:23Speaker 6: they've created on the interior. I mean, when he's probably
- 3:25Speaker 6: going to be the right guard, but you're right, Garrett
- 3:28Speaker 6: Bradbury is an option at center. Cole Strange is an
- 3:30Speaker 6: option at center at guard city, so you know, Leyden Robinson.
- 3:34Speaker 6: I like the idea of those guys competing and at
- 3:38Speaker 6: least being able to find one or two options that
- 3:40Speaker 6: can fill in. I have no idea of where they
- 3:43Speaker 6: turn at left tackle without adding someone in the draft,
- 3:46Speaker 6: and whether that's Will Campbell right at the top at
- 3:48Speaker 6: number four, we don't know, but they're going to have
- 3:52Speaker 6: to address it because I don't think going in with
- 3:54Speaker 6: what they had, like you know, Trey Jacobs or Vederian
- 3:57Speaker 6: Lowe is going to be good enough. I like the
- 3:59Speaker 6: Morgan signing. I'm on record is saying I think that's
- 4:02Speaker 6: the best signing they made, But there's still a huge
- 4:04Speaker 6: hole on the left side.
- 4:05Speaker 7: Yeah, I don't see it either. I don't see how
- 4:08Speaker 7: you don't go into the come out of this draft,
- 4:11Speaker 7: I should say, with a big investment at left tackle,
- 4:14Speaker 7: a top fifty pick, let's call it at least. And
- 4:16Speaker 7: I wouldn't even mind if they took two right, you know,
- 4:18Speaker 7: if they double dipped in the third or fourth round,
- 4:21Speaker 7: kind of like they tried to do with receiver last year.
- 4:23Speaker 7: So there's some names there that, you know, I'm sure
- 4:25Speaker 7: we'll kick around the rest of the show that fit
- 4:28Speaker 7: all those types of things. I think at left guard,
- 4:30Speaker 7: I'm still looking at potentially another body in there too,
- 4:33Speaker 7: as just competition. You know, let the cream rise to
- 4:36Speaker 7: the top, and you know there's some mid round guards
- 4:38Speaker 7: A really strong guard class. You know, that's probably one
- 4:41Speaker 7: of the strains of the class is interior offensive line,
- 4:44Speaker 7: not so much center, but guard specifically, especially when you
- 4:47Speaker 7: talk about all the tackles that are probably gonna switch
- 4:50Speaker 7: to guard come the NFL. So you know, a wilet
- 4:53Speaker 7: Milen for example, Gray Zabel. You know, we don't know
- 4:56Speaker 7: about Campbell right, Like all these guys, there's potential that
- 4:58Speaker 7: they could play guard instead tackle in the league. So
- 5:01Speaker 7: it's a good class and I wouldn't mind, you know,
- 5:04Speaker 7: adding another left guard type to this mix to see
- 5:07Speaker 7: if maybe they can compete there with those other guys.
- 5:10Speaker 5: Yeah, that's the biggest question to me because it's got
- 5:13Speaker 5: a new offensive line coach. And again I've been here,
- 5:15Speaker 5: I've been covered six seasons. There's been different offensive line
- 5:17Speaker 5: coach every single season. You're not back with Doug Moron,
- 5:20Speaker 5: who was established, and I think we were all excited
- 5:23Speaker 5: to get that experience back in the building. But I
- 5:25Speaker 5: guess he's my question as you hear what Evan says,
- 5:27Speaker 5: and I don't necessarily disagree, but is there something to
- 5:30Speaker 5: be said that we drafted Ladon Robinson last year?
- 5:32Speaker 4: You know, Kayden Wallace was seen as a right tackle that.
- 5:35Speaker 5: Could potentially be development developed into a starter thrust into
- 5:39Speaker 5: the fire last year. Do you allow some room for
- 5:42Speaker 5: some development and let Doug Maroon try to maybe salvage
- 5:45Speaker 5: some of these guys that we're a little bit low
- 5:47Speaker 5: on at this moment.
- 5:48Speaker 8: I think you want to see a jump, But there's
- 5:49Speaker 8: also nothing wrong with investing in more talent. So we
- 5:52Speaker 8: don't know what's going to happen at four, but I
- 5:54Speaker 8: think it's a good year to maybe jump back into
- 5:57Speaker 8: the first and maybe get another high level prospect the
- 6:00Speaker 8: connorly Amylam Who knows, but I think you can, Uh,
- 6:03Speaker 8: there's nothing wrong with investing in new talent.
- 6:05Speaker 5: Last thing, I just want touch on guys. This is
- 6:07Speaker 5: the center spot. Yeah, David Andrews here for so long.
- 6:10Speaker 5: I mean, it's really been a position of stability for
- 6:12Speaker 5: a long time in this organization, and I almost feel
- 6:15Speaker 5: like you're stuck in the middle of the road right now.
- 6:16Speaker 4: Like I mean, Garret Bradberry, they brought him in. Clearly
- 6:18Speaker 4: he's been a starter in this league.
- 6:20Speaker 5: You know, maybe it was a little bit going down
- 6:23Speaker 5: in Minnesota, but Ben Brown started some games for you
- 6:27Speaker 5: last year. But he's not I mean, he's not exactly
- 6:28Speaker 5: a spring chick, and he's twenty seven years old. He's
- 6:30Speaker 5: been around a little bit. Cole Strange is trying a
- 6:32Speaker 5: new position. It seems like, like you said, Paul, you
- 6:35Speaker 5: have some guys there, but do you really have a
- 6:37Speaker 5: guy there?
- 6:38Speaker 6: Yeah, and I didn't even mention Jake Andrews, who I
- 6:40Speaker 6: think could be in that mix as well.
- 6:42Speaker 4: No, they don't.
- 6:43Speaker 6: They don't have guys right now that I think you'd
- 6:44Speaker 6: say he's going to start at center. He's going to
- 6:46Speaker 6: start at left guard. I think when you will be
- 6:48Speaker 6: the right guard. But I do like the idea of
- 6:52Speaker 6: strengthen numbers there and there. It's not like they're all
- 6:55Speaker 6: complete unknowns. You know, Cole Strange, former first round pick,
- 6:59Speaker 6: has played reasonably effectively when healthy, hasn't been healthy enough,
- 7:04Speaker 6: so that's the question with him. You know, Leyden Robinson
- 7:08Speaker 6: I think has shown some power in the run game,
- 7:11Speaker 6: little bit questions in terms of his past protection and
- 7:14Speaker 6: you know his experience levels. So I think they have
- 7:17Speaker 6: the numbers the bodies to be okay in the middle,
- 7:20Speaker 6: But that doesn't mean I'm right there's gonna be These
- 7:22Speaker 6: guys are gonna have to go out in the off season.
- 7:24Speaker 6: In the OTAs and then in training camp and earn
- 7:27Speaker 6: jobs earned, you know, and this is gonna be true
- 7:30Speaker 6: across the board. This is what Mike Rabel's trying to create.
- 7:32Speaker 6: His competition everywhere, but none more so than those guys
- 7:35Speaker 6: in the interior offensive line.
- 7:36Speaker 5: Just give me one name of all these offensive line
- 7:39Speaker 5: and not most is not on WHNU, but one name
- 7:40Speaker 5: of that rest of that group that you're most interested
- 7:43Speaker 5: to see that you think could be. You know, a
- 7:45Speaker 5: good preseason in summer from him would really solve some
- 7:48Speaker 5: problems for the Patriots city.
- 7:50Speaker 7: So I'm really interested to see him back in this McDaniels,
- 7:54Speaker 7: Bill O'Brien type of offense. I thought as a rookie
- 7:57Speaker 7: he showed some promise similarly to Leyden Robinson, and left
- 8:01Speaker 7: guard has been a natural spot for him going back
- 8:03Speaker 7: to college. I think there's a chance that, you know,
- 8:06Speaker 7: we see a better player in this system, not a
- 8:08Speaker 7: zone scheme where they're asking them to move a lot
- 8:11Speaker 7: and they can block in a foam booth and get
- 8:12Speaker 7: downhill and use his size.
- 8:14Speaker 3: He's a big guy. I'm just interested to see.
- 8:17Speaker 7: If maybe he ends up all of a sudden rope
- 8:20Speaker 7: adoping lad and Robinson and all, you know, we look
- 8:22Speaker 7: at it and say, well, this was what we thought
- 8:24Speaker 7: maybe he was developing into as a rookie under Bill O'Brien,
- 8:28Speaker 7: and now they get him into a similar system and
- 8:30Speaker 7: it looks the same as it did his rookie season.
- 8:33Speaker 7: I feel pretty good about Garrett Bradbury for the year
- 8:35Speaker 7: at center. I think they have a bridge there at center.
- 8:39Speaker 7: But you know, Drew Kendall from BC, like, that guy
- 8:42Speaker 7: is like, that's a boss, that's a Patriot, right, Like,
- 8:44Speaker 7: that's gonna be tough to pass on, I think at center.
- 8:47Speaker 7: But I do feel pretty good about Garrett Bradbury for
- 8:50Speaker 7: the season. Maybe not as a long term center. I
- 8:53Speaker 7: don't know how much he has left, but for twenty
- 8:55Speaker 7: twenty five, they should be set there, all right.
- 8:57Speaker 5: Well, plenty to digest here along the offensive and lots
- 9:00Speaker 5: of needs, lots of questions. Check out Evans film review
- 9:03Speaker 5: here of some of the best prospects in this year's
- 9:04Speaker 5: NFL Draft.
- 9:06Speaker 7: What's up, everybody, It's Evan Lazarre. Welcome into the Patriots
- 9:09Speaker 7: Draft Countdown film room. We are going to discuss a
- 9:12Speaker 7: huge position of need for the Patriots and this year's draft.
- 9:15Speaker 9: Today.
- 9:16Speaker 7: Offensive line in particular, we're going to talk about the
- 9:18Speaker 7: left tackles or the tackles in general, I should say,
- 9:21Speaker 7: And obviously, like I just said, we know that this
- 9:24Speaker 7: is a major position of need for the Patriots number
- 9:26Speaker 7: four overall potential. Here I would say with Will Campbell,
- 9:30Speaker 7: who will get to in a second, but I would
- 9:31Speaker 7: also say here.
- 9:32Speaker 2: As well.
- 9:34Speaker 7: With armand Membu, who will talk about after we get
- 9:38Speaker 7: to Campbell. Well, let's get to the tape with Will
- 9:40Speaker 7: Campbell and why he's such a promising prospect on the
- 9:43Speaker 7: left side. Here he is at left tackle, and I
- 9:46Speaker 7: just want to show you a couple of different pass
- 9:47Speaker 7: rush reps here against Kyle Canard, who's a top one
- 9:51Speaker 7: hundred player. Right there, protects his edge, no problem, right,
- 9:54Speaker 7: just running right past the quarterback. Now, what Canard is
- 9:56Speaker 7: going to do is he's going to try to inside
- 9:58Speaker 7: counter right, So he's going to face like he's going
- 10:00Speaker 7: to go to the outside, but we're going to cut
- 10:02Speaker 7: back inside and watch Campbell's ability just to mirror him
- 10:04Speaker 7: and just push him right out and keep the quarterback protected.
- 10:07Speaker 7: And the last one here is really big. So let's
- 10:09Speaker 7: go slow here because a big emphasis with Will Campbell's
- 10:13Speaker 7: his arm length right. We know these arms are undersized
- 10:15Speaker 7: for the position, but I want you to see how
- 10:18Speaker 7: stout of an anchor that he has. He has excellent
- 10:20Speaker 7: core strength and he's got that ability to use and
- 10:23Speaker 7: maximize all the length that he possibly can have against
- 10:25Speaker 7: speed the power. So if you posit right there, you
- 10:27Speaker 7: can see how he's just able to sit down right
- 10:30Speaker 7: here and just keep guys out of his chest with
- 10:32Speaker 7: that excellent extension of the arms there and keep his
- 10:36Speaker 7: quarterback protected. And we have another arm extension, core strength,
- 10:40Speaker 7: play strength element here with just this kickout block out
- 10:43Speaker 7: on the edge. He's going to kick it out, He's
- 10:45Speaker 7: going to open that area for the running back and
- 10:47Speaker 7: we're off to the races. So Will Campbell doesn't have
- 10:50Speaker 7: those ideal measurables, but you can see the tape, folks.
- 10:53Speaker 7: I mean it's outstanding from top to bottom for Campbell.
- 10:56Speaker 7: In terms of the film. A couple other names that
- 10:58Speaker 7: were worth mentioning. These guys are really worth mentioning. I
- 11:02Speaker 7: should say now armand Membu fantastic athlete, good film, top
- 11:06Speaker 7: ten prospect in a lot of ways in this class.
- 11:08Speaker 7: But he's a right tackle, right, so we're gonna put
- 11:10Speaker 7: right tackle next to him here. Patriots just signed Morgan Moses.
- 11:13Speaker 7: I'm not sure if they're gonna be looking for a
- 11:15Speaker 7: long term right tackle at that point in the draft
- 11:18Speaker 7: at the top. The other two names, though, I think
- 11:20Speaker 7: are important, are more in that Day two conversation. I
- 11:23Speaker 7: think Bank is gonna be in the middle there. It's
- 11:25Speaker 7: gonna be tough for the Patriots to target him. But
- 11:28Speaker 7: Josh Simmons coming off that knee injury, let's see how
- 11:31Speaker 7: far that makes him fall in this year's draft. And
- 11:33Speaker 7: Josh Carnelie junior from Oregon had a great end of
- 11:37Speaker 7: the season, right Championship game, college football playoff. Extremely athletic tackle,
- 11:42Speaker 7: very high level pass protector, still young and can develop.
- 11:45Speaker 7: If he's there for the Patriots at thirty eight, think
- 11:47Speaker 7: you run the card up to the podium depending on
- 11:49Speaker 7: what you do at number four overall. So that's the
- 11:51Speaker 7: top of the tackle class. There's a lot of tackles
- 11:54Speaker 7: on Day two and early Day three that might be
- 11:56Speaker 7: of interest to the Patriots, But I'm still planting that flag.
- 12:00Speaker 7: Will Campbell he's going to be a great pro. Might
- 12:02Speaker 7: be inside, but he's going to be an all timer
- 12:04Speaker 7: in my mind. So that's your offensive line breakdown and
- 12:06Speaker 7: your offensive tackles for the Patriots in this year's draft.
- 12:10Speaker 7: Huge position of need. Thanks for watching.
- 12:14Speaker 3: All right.
- 12:14Speaker 7: We're joined now by a very special guest, the best
- 12:17Speaker 7: and brightest on the offensive line. It's Brandon Thorne of
- 12:20Speaker 7: Trench Warfare. Make sure you subscribe there and also on
- 12:24Speaker 7: Bleacher Report. Brandon has some of the best draft profiles
- 12:28Speaker 7: on the offensive lineman in this year's class. So we're
- 12:30Speaker 7: going to get into the draft here in just a second, Brandon,
- 12:33Speaker 7: But to set the table, I just wanted to ask
- 12:36Speaker 7: you a little bit about the free agency hall that
- 12:38Speaker 7: the Patriots have so far on the offensive line with
- 12:41Speaker 7: Morgan Moses and Garrett Bradbrey. So, first of all, thanks
- 12:44Speaker 7: for doing this, and Hi, that's all right, skipped right
- 12:47Speaker 7: over that far.
- 12:48Speaker 3: I wanted to get into the football but good to
- 12:50Speaker 3: see you.
- 12:50Speaker 7: But just in general, what are your impressions of what
- 12:53Speaker 7: the Patriots have so far cooking on the offensive line.
- 12:57Speaker 10: Yeah, I mean I feel like, you know, we'll start
- 13:00Speaker 10: with Morgan Moses. To me, I really like that one
- 13:02Speaker 10: because to me, you have a surefire short term starter
- 13:06Speaker 10: at right tackle who brings a lot to the table
- 13:10Speaker 10: in terms of just reliability, playing hurt, still playing at
- 13:15Speaker 10: at least usually a solid level or better. And then
- 13:17Speaker 10: if he's healthy for an extended period of time, I
- 13:20Speaker 10: think you have a really underrated right tackle. And the
- 13:24Speaker 10: reason why I like that too is because it really,
- 13:27Speaker 10: to me, it solidifies the entire right side of the
- 13:29Speaker 10: line with him and on Wana, keeps on Wano at
- 13:32Speaker 10: his most natural home and right guard, and just.
- 13:36Speaker 2: Solidifies that side.
- 13:38Speaker 10: So I just look at that as a plus across
- 13:41Speaker 10: the board. It makes a lot of sense to me
- 13:44Speaker 10: why they would do that one. And then Brad Berry,
- 13:47Speaker 10: I don't think that moves the needle as much as
- 13:50Speaker 10: signing Moses does, but it does give you at least
- 13:53Speaker 10: somebody who's played the position extensively at center, which you
- 13:58Speaker 10: didn't have prior to signing him. Kind of allows you
- 14:01Speaker 10: to go from veteran a veteran from David Andrews to
- 14:04Speaker 10: him a little bit of a step back, but a
- 14:08Speaker 10: guy who you know, worst case, if you don't address
- 14:11Speaker 10: the position at all via the draft or any other
- 14:14Speaker 10: free agent moves somebody you could roll out there and
- 14:17Speaker 10: you know you could. You could probably win with him
- 14:20Speaker 10: and sometimes win in spite of him. Honestly, depending on
- 14:23Speaker 10: the matchup. But you know, you could do worse, I guess,
- 14:27Speaker 10: and it's I understand the move.
- 14:28Speaker 2: You could rationalize that one as well.
- 14:30Speaker 10: Uh So, Yeah, I mean, right now, I still think
- 14:33Speaker 10: the whole left side is up for you know, potentially
- 14:36Speaker 10: being improved. But at the same time, I see some
- 14:41Speaker 10: in house options if you do address left tackle to
- 14:44Speaker 10: where you could get a starter at left guard, you know,
- 14:47Speaker 10: from somebody that's on the roster now. So you know,
- 14:50Speaker 10: all in all, it's a it's a really it's a
- 14:51Speaker 10: fair spot to be in. I mean, it makes sense,
- 14:54Speaker 10: you know, where they are entering the draft, assuming that
- 14:57Speaker 10: they're going to address the offensive line in a maj
- 15:00Speaker 10: your way.
- 15:00Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 15:01Speaker 7: Right, Just one more question on their current state before
- 15:03Speaker 7: we get into the draft. You mentioned left guard and
- 15:06Speaker 7: some of the in house options. What were your impressions.
- 15:08Speaker 7: I'm curious of Leyden Robinson in his rookie season, and
- 15:12Speaker 7: I think that if there's anybody that has maybe the
- 15:14Speaker 7: highest ceiling out of the current group that they have
- 15:17Speaker 7: on the roster, I feel like it might be him.
- 15:21Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 15:22Speaker 10: I think just largely he was a pretty solid run blocker,
- 15:28Speaker 10: shakier and pass protection. He's a big, physical guy who
- 15:33Speaker 10: can uproot guys in the run game, you know, finish
- 15:37Speaker 10: at a pretty high level, deliver some of those body
- 15:40Speaker 10: blows that you'd like to see from offensive linemen, and
- 15:43Speaker 10: I think physically play strength and power wise, that translated
- 15:47Speaker 10: pretty well from the college to the pro level, which
- 15:51Speaker 10: was pretty expected, you know, coming from the SECS in
- 15:53Speaker 10: good competition like you did. So I feel like kind
- 15:58Speaker 10: of his best trade translated. It's just the concerns coming in.
- 16:03Speaker 10: We're still concerns in terms of matching up one on
- 16:06Speaker 10: one in past protection and just overall just past protection effectiveness,
- 16:11Speaker 10: dealing with stunts as well, and just you know, it's
- 16:15Speaker 10: just very up and down shaky, not super reliable in
- 16:17Speaker 10: that way.
- 16:18Speaker 2: So he has to clean that up.
- 16:19Speaker 10: Obviously, and you know, we'll see if he could do that.
- 16:23Speaker 10: But I think all in all, based on where you
- 16:25Speaker 10: drafted him, what kind of player he was, based on
- 16:27Speaker 10: my evaluation, like pretty much as expected, and like now,
- 16:31Speaker 10: you know, with with some moderate improvement, I think you
- 16:34Speaker 10: could probably roll with him as a starter again, assuming
- 16:38Speaker 10: you know, left tackle is addressed in a major way.
- 16:40Speaker 2: And yeah, and I.
- 16:42Speaker 10: Mean I'm not totally out on CD SOO either, so
- 16:46Speaker 10: that's a potential option. And then I know you signed
- 16:48Speaker 10: Wes Schweitzer as well, who's a guy I've always kind
- 16:51Speaker 10: of liked. So I I think the interior is if
- 16:56Speaker 10: this was the interior that you, you know, enter training
- 16:59Speaker 10: camp with, I think that's that's fine.
- 17:03Speaker 2: So that's kind of how I see you.
- 17:04Speaker 7: Yeah, let's let's talk about the big one, which is
- 17:07Speaker 7: obviously left tackle. And this is for most people, and
- 17:11Speaker 7: for my money, the biggest need on the current roster,
- 17:13Speaker 7: especially after they just signed Stefan Diggs here the last
- 17:16Speaker 7: couple of days, So left tackle huge need. I just
- 17:20Speaker 7: want to go through some of the tiers, if you will,
- 17:22Speaker 7: of these left tackles, and we'll start right at the
- 17:25Speaker 7: top of the draft with potentially for overall. And Will
- 17:28Speaker 7: Campbell I know in your write ups and we've discussed
- 17:31Speaker 7: this a little bit off the air, that you see
- 17:33Speaker 7: his best fit at guard, even though he probably could
- 17:36Speaker 7: play tackle. I don't want to put words in your mouth,
- 17:37Speaker 7: but I believe that's what you've said. Just so where
- 17:40Speaker 7: do you stand with Will Campbell? And then I have
- 17:42Speaker 7: you know, the arm length question there too, But let's
- 17:45Speaker 7: talk about in general with Will Campbell first and then
- 17:47Speaker 7: we'll get into the arms of it all.
- 17:49Speaker 10: Yeah yeah, So, I mean I think Will Campbell pretty
- 17:53Speaker 10: much since we came out with our first big board
- 17:55Speaker 10: in November, he's been my top overall offensive lineman and
- 17:59Speaker 10: throughout the whole process of seeing.
- 18:02Speaker 2: Him at the Combine.
- 18:03Speaker 10: You know, he didn't participate in the All Star circuit
- 18:05Speaker 10: understandably so, but combined wise and just getting to talk
- 18:09Speaker 10: to him for like my film room, and he's also
- 18:11Speaker 10: training with Duke Manyweather, as are a lot of these guys.
- 18:15Speaker 2: So just like, he's just checked all the boxes to me.
- 18:18Speaker 10: In terms of my initial projection as a high level
- 18:23Speaker 10: guard who could potentially play center or excuse me, potentially
- 18:26Speaker 10: play center, but also potentially play left tackle. So yeah,
- 18:30Speaker 10: I mean, I think he's the best overall offensive lineman
- 18:33Speaker 10: in the draft. I think he he's the guy that
- 18:36Speaker 10: I would like to bet on the most. Now you
- 18:39Speaker 10: know that said, I I have a a point four
- 18:43Speaker 10: grade on him, which for context is kind of middle
- 18:46Speaker 10: of the first round. I don't see him necessarily as
- 18:48Speaker 10: an impact starter, but I see him as a year
- 18:51Speaker 10: one starter, and that's the distinction there. I think this
- 18:55Speaker 10: is you know, it depends, you know, if if you
- 18:57Speaker 10: want to put him at tackle, I could see a
- 19:00Speaker 10: you know, a Bernard Raymond sort of left tackle, Brayden Smith,
- 19:05Speaker 10: even though he plays on the right. I could see
- 19:06Speaker 10: that caliber of tackle. Those are two of the more
- 19:10Speaker 10: like kind of sowt off sort of tackles that still
- 19:13Speaker 10: move really well and do a lot of really good things,
- 19:15Speaker 10: that are strong and physical. But I just think if
- 19:19Speaker 10: you if you had a left tackle in place, then
- 19:22Speaker 10: you could play him inside, and I think long term,
- 19:25Speaker 10: I think that is the highest ceiling for him. I
- 19:27Speaker 10: compared him to David di Castro, although you know di
- 19:31Speaker 10: Castro didn't play tackle at Stanford. But I just see
- 19:33Speaker 10: a very similar sort of player in terms of how
- 19:36Speaker 10: he wins and what he does well body type even
- 19:39Speaker 10: but to me, he more so than anything, falls into
- 19:42Speaker 10: that bucket of And this isn't a knock either to
- 19:45Speaker 10: me at least I know some take it that way.
- 19:47Speaker 10: But a very good college left tackle who is kind
- 19:51Speaker 10: of in that pipeline to me ideally to kick inside
- 19:54Speaker 10: as a pro. And I mean most oftentimes the best
- 19:58Speaker 10: guards that we have in the league are collegiate left
- 20:01Speaker 10: tackles who were really good. You know, for if it's
- 20:04Speaker 10: Zach Martin, Brandon Shurf, Elijah Peterry Tucker. The list of
- 20:09Speaker 10: the serious is very very long. There's there's a dozen
- 20:11Speaker 10: or so guys at least. So that's to me, how
- 20:15Speaker 10: I really see him. Now, you know, a team like
- 20:19Speaker 10: New England that doesn't have a left tackle you know,
- 20:23Speaker 10: on the roster, to me, yeah, you try him a
- 20:26Speaker 10: left tackle first and then you see where it goes
- 20:28Speaker 10: from there. So but you know, I mean he just
- 20:31Speaker 10: checks it. Like in terms of my film evaluation, like,
- 20:33Speaker 10: I think his balance is really good on contact through contact.
- 20:37Speaker 10: I think his play strength is really good. He has
- 20:39Speaker 10: power that's good. He's really athletic. He I mean, he
- 20:45Speaker 10: does a lot of things well. The reason why I
- 20:46Speaker 10: see him projected inside yeah, the length. I mean we
- 20:51Speaker 10: kind of knew that in the spring, right that he
- 20:54Speaker 10: was gonna you know, barely hit thirty three if that.
- 20:58Speaker 10: But I think just when you watch his tape and
- 21:00Speaker 10: you dig into it, I think he has some issues
- 21:04Speaker 10: pass protecting one on one on an island in terms
- 21:08Speaker 10: of striking down the middle of pass rushers and when
- 21:11Speaker 10: you don't have very good length at all, that can
- 21:14Speaker 10: get exacerbated in terms of creating a short corner for
- 21:19Speaker 10: pass rushers to access and turn the corner on him
- 21:22Speaker 10: quickly here and there. It's not like a major issue,
- 21:25Speaker 10: but I think that could be just increased at the
- 21:28Speaker 10: next level. And then he also kind of drifts oversets
- 21:31Speaker 10: a little bit, kind of you know, soft inside shoulder.
- 21:34Speaker 10: Those to me are kind of typically the signs. That's
- 21:37Speaker 10: that's to me why Brandon Schurff moved inside. That's to
- 21:39Speaker 10: me is why Zach Martin moved inside, and Joe Toney,
- 21:44Speaker 10: Joe Bntonio, Peter Skoronski. That's that's why these guys move inside.
- 21:50Speaker 10: So that that's just kind of how I see him.
- 21:53Speaker 10: But all in all, you know, my favorite offensive lineman
- 21:56Speaker 10: in the draft.
- 21:57Speaker 7: Yeah, you mentioned you know why guys move inside and
- 22:00Speaker 7: why arm length is important. Just for our listeners, can
- 22:04Speaker 7: you just explain sort of the mythology because I think
- 22:07Speaker 7: a lot of people think arm length we're talking about
- 22:10Speaker 7: ace of an inch in some cases, right in terms
- 22:13Speaker 7: of these thresholds, like why do you feel like it's
- 22:16Speaker 7: felt that it's so important to NFL teams that these
- 22:19Speaker 7: guys hit certain thresholds.
- 22:22Speaker 10: What also bucket in here put in the bucket wingspan,
- 22:26Speaker 10: which is a little bit different. To me, that's maybe
- 22:29Speaker 10: a little bit more of a relative concern for him
- 22:33Speaker 10: because as far as I know, based on his measurement,
- 22:36Speaker 10: he has the smallest wingspan of any offensive tackle to
- 22:41Speaker 10: come through the combine since nineteen ninety nine. So yeah,
- 22:46Speaker 10: that's per mock draftable. People can go to mock draftable
- 22:49Speaker 10: dot com. They have a database of players going back
- 22:53Speaker 10: to ninety nine, and he, I think would be.
- 22:55Speaker 2: The smallest wingspan in history for a tackle.
- 23:00Speaker 10: So you know, he's like in line with Alex Kappa
- 23:04Speaker 10: and Connor Williams, so in terms of body type, that's
- 23:09Speaker 10: kind of what you're looking at, and obviously those guys
- 23:11Speaker 10: didn't play tackle in the NFL, So yeah, wingspan's a
- 23:15Speaker 10: little different. I think that's more so like how much
- 23:18Speaker 10: space you're kind of like you're the width of your frame,
- 23:23Speaker 10: you know, and kind of like the mass the girth
- 23:25Speaker 10: that you have, how much space you take up. And
- 23:29Speaker 10: I think when you couple that with arm length, when
- 23:31Speaker 10: you're talking about a tackle, you're dealing with a lot
- 23:34Speaker 10: of space at tackle, more so than garden center obviously,
- 23:37Speaker 10: where you're flanked from both sides, you're kind of a
- 23:40Speaker 10: little bit more in the quote unquote phone booth, but
- 23:43Speaker 10: with tackle, because you're operating in so much space, when
- 23:47Speaker 10: you don't have as much of a reach or as
- 23:49Speaker 10: much of a kind of as a as a stature,
- 23:53Speaker 10: you know, then it's a little bit easier to get
- 23:55Speaker 10: around you, you know, just because of you don't have
- 23:59Speaker 10: as much as you're not operating in tight quarters. So
- 24:03Speaker 10: it just it's razor thin, you know, margin for error
- 24:07Speaker 10: when you're playing offensive line in the NFL, playing in
- 24:09Speaker 10: any position, but especially offensive line and especially offensive tackle.
- 24:14Speaker 10: So I think that's why it matters. But at the
- 24:20Speaker 10: same time, if your hands are really good and your
- 24:23Speaker 10: technique's really good, you can overcome that, as we've seen
- 24:25Speaker 10: with some of these guys with similar arm length and wingspans.
- 24:30Speaker 10: But to me, again, like I think it's not just
- 24:33Speaker 10: purely length and wingspan. I think it's also some of
- 24:35Speaker 10: the technical things that I said, you know that I
- 24:40Speaker 10: think have gotten cleaned up to a certain extent, but
- 24:43Speaker 10: we haven't seen it be cleaned up on game date yet.
- 24:46Speaker 10: So yeah, I think that's that's kind of what it
- 24:50Speaker 10: is and how I view it.
- 24:52Speaker 7: Yeah, absolutely, And we could talk about this for another hour,
- 24:55Speaker 7: but I don't want to keep you that long, So
- 24:57Speaker 7: let's just move on to some of these other guys
- 24:59Speaker 7: and I we won't go as deep in them as
- 25:01Speaker 7: we did with Campbell, but armand Membu do just your
- 25:04Speaker 7: thoughts on him, and I think the big number one
- 25:07Speaker 7: question for the Patriots obviously is can he play left
- 25:10Speaker 7: tackle at the next level instead of right? And we've
- 25:13Speaker 7: been texting back and forth a little bit about the
- 25:15Speaker 7: history of guys flipping, and it's not very many guys, right,
- 25:19Speaker 7: it's a pretty small sample size of just a couple
- 25:22Speaker 7: that have actually pulled it off. But what do you
- 25:25Speaker 7: like about Membo? And could you see him going from
- 25:27Speaker 7: right to left, you know, right in college to left
- 25:29Speaker 7: in the NFL?
- 25:31Speaker 10: Yeah, I mean we saw JC Latham and tali Esa
- 25:34Speaker 10: for Waga do this last year. But aside from then them,
- 25:37Speaker 10: I think you have to go back to like Jedrick
- 25:39Speaker 10: Wills is kind of another example, And yeah, I mean
- 25:44Speaker 10: I think Membo could do it. You know, I don't
- 25:47Speaker 10: see anything on his profile or his tape or anything
- 25:51Speaker 10: that would preclude him from switching sides, especially if you're
- 25:54Speaker 10: doing it with enough of a runway to get used
- 25:57Speaker 10: to it. Like, you know, if you're drafting him in
- 25:59Speaker 10: day one, you say, Okay, in the spring, you're gonna
- 26:02Speaker 10: start repping at left tackle, and you have the spring,
- 26:04Speaker 10: the summer camp, all that, you know, months and months
- 26:07Speaker 10: to do it. Then yeah, I don't see why he
- 26:09Speaker 10: wouldn't do it and be an equal level player that
- 26:12Speaker 10: he would be on the right. So that to me
- 26:14Speaker 10: is kind of a non factor. And yeah, I mean
- 26:17Speaker 10: I like Membo a lot. He's very close in grade
- 26:20Speaker 10: to Will Campbell. These two are two of maybe like
- 26:26Speaker 10: three guys that actually have a true first round grade
- 26:28Speaker 10: on so I see him as a year one starter
- 26:32Speaker 10: at tackle. This guy, to me is more of a
- 26:36Speaker 10: true tackle. He's my number one true tackle in the
- 26:39Speaker 10: in the draft, but behind Campbell overall. And for me,
- 26:43Speaker 10: I don't see any technical issues playing tackle in terms
- 26:47Speaker 10: of range, the ability to protect the corner, redirecting. He
- 26:54Speaker 10: doesn't overset guys a lot, like he looks to me
- 26:58Speaker 10: very comfortable past protecting tackle on film, and he has
- 27:02Speaker 10: all the physical thresholds I think that you would want.
- 27:05Speaker 10: So yeah, to me, he's more of a true tackle.
- 27:08Speaker 10: But yeah, to me, I mean, like there's some interesting
- 27:13Speaker 10: kind of just to give people an idea of the
- 27:15Speaker 10: sort of pro that I see him being.
- 27:18Speaker 2: Like, I think high end comp.
- 27:19Speaker 10: Would be like a Dwayne Brown, you know, another six'
- 27:24Speaker 10: ford and change left tackle who played at a really high,
- 27:26Speaker 10: level who's about three, thirty who was extremely powerful. Athletic you,
- 27:31Speaker 10: know he played For houston for a long. Time he
- 27:33Speaker 10: had really good years In seattle two for a couple.
- 27:35Speaker 10: There so that's like a high end. Comp and THEN
- 27:38Speaker 10: i also see Some Mickey ikwanu as well in his,
- 27:42Speaker 10: game just in terms of his body, type, size of
- 27:46Speaker 10: some of the natural, power some of the abilities as
- 27:49Speaker 10: a finisher in the run. Game so that's kind of
- 27:54Speaker 10: another archetype THAT i would throw out. There but, YEAH
- 27:56Speaker 10: i MEAN i like him a, lot and to, me
- 27:59Speaker 10: he's clear cut like him And, campbell the two. Guys
- 28:02Speaker 10: it's it's kind of been this way for me since the.
- 28:05Speaker 10: Beginning they're you, Know, MEMBO i think separated himself a
- 28:09Speaker 10: little bit after the combine from somebody Like Josh, simmons
- 28:13Speaker 10: who is a Guy i'm very high on and just
- 28:16Speaker 10: with kind of some of his. Questions that's that's why
- 28:18Speaker 10: in member not having those same questions is.
- 28:21Speaker 2: WHY i Have membo ahead of, him BUT i really.
- 28:23Speaker 10: Like simmons tape as. WELL i think he's a really
- 28:25Speaker 10: good true tackle. Prospect but, Yeah i'm very high On.
- 28:31Speaker 2: Membo.
- 28:32Speaker 7: Yeah so the next wave, here if you, will The
- 28:35Speaker 7: patriots pick in the second round at thirty. EIGHT i
- 28:38Speaker 7: think there's a chance that if It's Travis hunter Or
- 28:40Speaker 7: Abdul carter or something like that at, four that they
- 28:42Speaker 7: don't get their left tackle with the fourth overall. Pick
- 28:46Speaker 7: the tier THAT i look at at that, point you,
- 28:48Speaker 7: Know Josh, Connery Arianti, ersie Maybe simmons if he falls
- 28:52Speaker 7: because of the. Injury maybe it's a trade. Up it's
- 28:55Speaker 7: the end of the first round to secure one of those.
- 28:57Speaker 7: Guys but out of that, group who do you feel
- 29:00Speaker 7: like it is a good fit here In New?
- 29:01Speaker 10: England, YEAH i MEAN i really Like Josh. Simmons just
- 29:07Speaker 10: the thing, IS i think you have to start with
- 29:09Speaker 10: kind of the caveats.
- 29:10Speaker 2: FIRST i, mean.
- 29:12Speaker 10: Five games in twenty twenty four before tearing his bettel,
- 29:15Speaker 10: attendant he looked like a very different player compared to
- 29:18Speaker 10: twenty twenty. Three he was much better improved in a
- 29:22Speaker 10: lot of, respects from his stance to his, technique everything
- 29:26Speaker 10: was kind of shifted and changed for the, better WHICH
- 29:29Speaker 10: i confirmed with him on the film.
- 29:31Speaker 2: ROOM i. Did he did a lot of work and it,
- 29:33Speaker 2: showed and he was.
- 29:35Speaker 10: DOMINANT i thought through the five games that he, played
- 29:39Speaker 10: and you, know part of that is he didn't see
- 29:41Speaker 10: great Competition Michigan state And. Oregon he had about twenty
- 29:46Speaker 10: or so snaps in The oregon tape was the one
- 29:48Speaker 10: he got hurt, in so you, see but there were
- 29:51Speaker 10: some really good stuff even in that small. Sample and
- 29:53Speaker 10: then The Michigan state game was probably the game where
- 29:55Speaker 10: he faced the best edge rusher he, saw and he
- 29:58Speaker 10: was really good in that.
- 29:58Speaker 2: One to, me like.
- 30:00Speaker 10: When you first turn on the, tape, though like he's
- 30:03Speaker 10: the GUY i got the most excited about probably watching
- 30:06Speaker 10: anybody this, year and it Was that's what made it
- 30:09Speaker 10: such a bummer when he got, hurt BECAUSE i was
- 30:10Speaker 10: expecting him to really like just rise throughout the process
- 30:16Speaker 10: AND i HAD i didn't watch him in twenty twenty
- 30:18Speaker 10: three either until after the, fact but, yeah like just
- 30:21Speaker 10: turning it on blind and watching, him you, know the
- 30:23Speaker 10: first game of the year and then watching all of his. Snaps,
- 30:27Speaker 10: yeah just a true prototypical sort of left tackle in
- 30:31Speaker 10: terms of how he looks on film and body, type
- 30:34Speaker 10: how he, moves the athletic, ability the the explosiveness and
- 30:40Speaker 10: twitch in his. GAME i saw some shades Of Christian darisaw.
- 30:45Speaker 10: There maybe just a little bit less physically imposing Than,
- 30:49Speaker 10: darrisaw but similar in a lot of. Ways and, yeah,
- 30:54Speaker 10: SO i you, know all in, all with the injuries
- 30:57Speaker 10: and all the, stuff all the questions with, him he's
- 30:59Speaker 10: like a ringe first round grade for. Me seven point
- 31:02Speaker 10: nine eight point zero is when first round grade start for,
- 31:05Speaker 10: Us SO i have him as a seven to. Nine
- 31:07Speaker 10: he's my third overall offensive lineman in the entire class though,
- 31:10Speaker 10: still BUT i couldn't quite get there on a surefire
- 31:13Speaker 10: first round. Grade BUT i think if you could get
- 31:16Speaker 10: him at the you, know the tail end of the
- 31:17Speaker 10: first or certainly in the, SECOND i, mean, YEAH i
- 31:20Speaker 10: Mean i'd be all over that.
- 31:21Speaker 2: One.
- 31:22Speaker 7: YEAH i feel like if that injury didn't, happen then
- 31:24Speaker 7: we might be talking about him at four overall for
- 31:26Speaker 7: The patriots as the top left tackle in the. Draft
- 31:29Speaker 7: so it was a bummer to see, That but you said.
- 31:32Speaker 7: It he was absolutely dominant in those five games that he,
- 31:36Speaker 7: played all, Right so let's go into the sleeper category
- 31:39Speaker 7: here maybe a little bit later on in the draft
- 31:41Speaker 7: On day. Three are there any tackle prospects that you
- 31:44Speaker 7: think could end up developing down the line and be
- 31:47Speaker 7: sort of steals of this?
- 31:48Speaker 10: Draft, yeah there's there's probably a few names all throughout.
- 31:52Speaker 10: THERE i Like Charles grant a good amount From william And.
- 31:55Speaker 10: Mary he's a guard, candidate BUT i think he could
- 32:00Speaker 10: probably stick a. Tackle there's some shades Of Tront armstead,
- 32:03Speaker 10: there you, know coming out of college to, me small,
- 32:07Speaker 10: school maybe not quite as physically dominant As tron, was
- 32:12Speaker 10: but never really challenged physically either on, film AND i
- 32:17Speaker 10: watched a lot.
- 32:18Speaker 2: Of it of.
- 32:19Speaker 10: Him the thing about him is THAT i really appreciate
- 32:22Speaker 10: is his ability in.
- 32:24Speaker 2: The run game.
- 32:24Speaker 10: To operate in his own heavy scheme that he did
- 32:28Speaker 10: With william And.
- 32:29Speaker 2: Mary just the backside cut offs for, him first of,
- 32:31Speaker 2: all were.
- 32:31Speaker 10: Awesome that's something that you don't see a whole, lot
- 32:34Speaker 10: especially from small school offensive, linemen where the technique is
- 32:38Speaker 10: just so, sound, inconsistent and he has a lot of
- 32:41Speaker 10: like burst and quickness to execute at a very high,
- 32:45Speaker 10: level climbing to the second level leading out in. Space
- 32:49Speaker 10: SO i think in the run game, like he's a
- 32:50Speaker 10: pretty polished rum, blocker especially considering a small school. Background
- 32:56Speaker 10: and THEN i think in past, protection the way he
- 32:57Speaker 10: moves is a really good sort of foundation to work with.
- 33:01Speaker 2: There Uh, so, YEAH.
- 33:03Speaker 10: I MEAN i like, him you, know kind Of round
- 33:06Speaker 10: four range is probably WHERE i like him. IDEALLY i
- 33:11Speaker 10: Think Chase lunt is interesting From, connecticut who's a taller,
- 33:15Speaker 10: guy uh than Than Charles. Grant he's like six,' eight
- 33:19Speaker 10: but another heavy zone scheme guy Who is he's a
- 33:24Speaker 10: little bit more erratic in terms of his body control
- 33:27Speaker 10: and and sustaining Skills, than grant but he's.
- 33:32Speaker 2: Very, twitchy explosive, moves.
- 33:35Speaker 10: Well and, you know he has a lot of really
- 33:37Speaker 10: good tape in terms of as a. Run blocker. THOSE
- 33:41Speaker 10: two I Think miles hinton is Interesting from michigan Left tackle.
- 33:46Speaker 10: Stanford transfer, this guy he's he's a bigger guy than
- 33:51Speaker 10: all these guys in terms. Of weight he moves really
- 33:54Speaker 10: well though he's maybe the Most talented michigan offensive lineman
- 33:58Speaker 10: to come out In several in, MY opinion i haven't
- 34:02Speaker 10: been super high On the. Michigan guys they've had really
- 34:04Speaker 10: good collective units over the last. Few years they Won
- 34:06Speaker 10: Two Jill, more awards but they just haven't had like.
- 34:10Speaker 10: A Dude and i'm not Saying that hinton is, a
- 34:12Speaker 10: dude but he. Has bloodlines his dad was A Perennial
- 34:15Speaker 10: all pro. Offensive lineman, he's big natural power and he
- 34:21Speaker 10: can get out and run and like lead in the.
- 34:24Speaker 10: Run game i'd love to throw a dart. On him
- 34:26Speaker 10: and on, DAY three I Think anthony belton. Is interesting
- 34:32Speaker 10: later on, day three like, this dude LIKE he's i
- 34:35Speaker 10: think he's like six six six five three thirty, three
- 34:38Speaker 10: forty carries it really well a lot of. Natural power
- 34:43Speaker 10: not very reliable in, past protection But he's he's the
- 34:47Speaker 10: sort of guy that you get into a building and,
- 34:50Speaker 10: you know you allow him, to develop see see. WHAT happens,
- 34:52Speaker 10: i mean he has a. PHYSICAL talent i think to,
- 34:55Speaker 10: you know, one day start some games. At tackle so
- 34:59Speaker 10: those guys, stand out and then there's there's more dark
- 35:02Speaker 10: Horses Like, logan brown, you know, maybe undrafted, you know
- 35:06Speaker 10: late day THREE that i think. Is Interesting john Williams
- 35:09Speaker 10: from cincinnati too is kind of interesting, to me although
- 35:14Speaker 10: he might. Play guard, so like there's there's some interesting
- 35:17Speaker 10: guys you know. Down there if you especially if you're
- 35:21Speaker 10: talking like rounds five. THROUGH seven, I mean i would
- 35:24Speaker 10: love to draft one of.
- 35:25Speaker 7: Those, Guys Yeah charles grant is a good one because,
- 35:28Speaker 7: you know you don't when you see Guys from William
- 35:30Speaker 7: and mary or at, that level you want them to
- 35:32Speaker 7: pop off the tape and be different than the guys
- 35:35Speaker 7: that are. Around them AND when i, WATCHED him i,
- 35:38Speaker 7: was like, all right THAT'S the nfl player that's gonna.
- 35:40Speaker 7: Get drafted, you know on the offensive line there is. Pretty,
- 35:43Speaker 7: obvious brandon as you guys, can tell is an encyclopedia with.
- 35:46Speaker 7: This stuff so give him a Follow At, BRANDON Thorn Nfl,
- 35:50Speaker 7: Bleacher Report. Trench, warfare brandon thank you so much for.
- 35:53Speaker 3: Your.
- 35:53Speaker 2: Time, yeah absolutely it's. My pleasure thanks for. Having me, what's.
- 35:58Speaker 8: Up everybody we're back again for a mock draft segment
- 36:01Speaker 8: On The Patriots draft. Countdown podcast Here With. Chris cassi
- 36:04Speaker 8: we're Joined By. Evan, lazar guys today we are doing
- 36:07Speaker 8: a joint seven. Round mock we're Let let evan get
- 36:11Speaker 8: a little reaction.
- 36:12Speaker 3: To this this IS genuine i have. Not, Seen.
- 36:17Speaker 8: Yes, so evan before, we start we did no trades
- 36:21Speaker 8: and that's the right way to. Do it when we
- 36:23Speaker 8: get to SO before i get into, pick one, pretty
- 36:26Speaker 8: much there's been some Rumors That carter hunter won't, be
- 36:30Speaker 8: available so we we acted like they weren't on, The
- 36:33Speaker 8: board and, with that let's get. Into it, Pick One
- 36:37Speaker 8: will campbell L s u at, NUMBER. Four uh, second
- 36:42Speaker 8: round Pick a buka FROM. Os u Pick Three, Jack,
- 36:46Speaker 8: Sawyer yeah Pick Four carson swettinger mispronounced. That uh Pick
- 36:54Speaker 8: Five gunner helm Tight. End texas PICK Six dj giddons,
- 36:59Speaker 8: running Back, can state and Pick seven Seth McLaughlin. Ohio
- 37:04Speaker 8: state Pick Eight, kobe, King Linebacker, penn state and Pick
- 37:09Speaker 8: Nine jimmy, Horn. Junior colorado that doesn't.
- 37:13Speaker 7: Surprise me the last pick is the least surprising all.
- 37:16Speaker 7: Of those, but, yeah no That's a.
- 37:18Speaker 3: That's a, good, job guys a.
- 37:19Speaker 9: Good job.
- 37:20Speaker 7: YOU know i Think that campbell we've talked at at
- 37:23Speaker 7: nauseum on all the shows Everywhere About.
- 37:25Speaker 3: Will CAMPBELL so.
- 37:27Speaker 7: I think abuka is a really nice pick for them
- 37:29Speaker 7: because just a steady guy that you feel really good about,
- 37:33Speaker 7: his floor you feel really good about, his professionalism, his
- 37:37Speaker 7: hands his ro out, running ability his blocking ability in the.
- 37:40Speaker 7: Run game he's going to make an offensive coordinator very
- 37:43Speaker 7: Happy because he's going to be plug, and play easy,
- 37:46Speaker 7: to scheme easy to work around in. An offense, you
- 37:50Speaker 7: know you do worry a little bit, about speed, you
- 37:52Speaker 7: know long speed and ability to separate over. The top
- 37:55Speaker 7: but my com for him has Has Been jackson Smith.
- 37:58Speaker 3: AND jigbook i just think.
- 37:59Speaker 7: He's just gonna, say that just, a glider he's just a.
- 38:02Speaker 7: Smooth criminal it's.
- 38:03Speaker 8: Also crazy because he's done, so much but he's been
- 38:05Speaker 8: overshadowed by so many. Great receivers but he holds the
- 38:08Speaker 8: record right Now For. Ohio state so he's. A, scrub
- 38:11Speaker 8: yeah he's been there for a.
- 38:12Speaker 3: Long time.
- 38:13Speaker 7: You know you hear a little bit of, You Know
- 38:15Speaker 7: robert woods with, Him too like just one of those
- 38:17Speaker 7: guys is gonna do the. Dirty work that's going to
- 38:19Speaker 7: go into the. Dirty areas it's gonna go over the
- 38:21Speaker 7: middle of, the field.
- 38:22Speaker 1: Catch everything one of my one of my favorite Things
- 38:26Speaker 1: about abuka is that he's kind of like a. Route,
- 38:28Speaker 1: creator yeah you know he has he doesn't have that,
- 38:30Speaker 1: breakaway speed but he has that ability to get open
- 38:33Speaker 1: and find the open areas if there's a, breakdown route,
- 38:35Speaker 1: you know, and that like, you Said The jackson Smith
- 38:37Speaker 1: And jigba, calm like very very similar, body types very similar.
- 38:42Speaker 9: Play styles obviously both One To. Ohio state but, you.
- 38:46Speaker 1: Know that's one big thing with a book is how
- 38:48Speaker 1: much he can really extend.
- 38:50Speaker 7: To, play yeah he's he's got six years in, the,
- 38:52Speaker 7: Car RIGHT and i think that that's something that is
- 38:55Speaker 7: underrated about receiver play, in general is those guys that
- 38:58Speaker 7: can really change speeds mid round sort of set up.
- 39:01Speaker 3: Defensive back so it's a, good.
- 39:02Speaker 8: Pick yep so then We Had jack sawyer and this
- 39:05Speaker 8: was a big debate when he came up on the
- 39:07Speaker 8: board because there were some other. Edge rushers. We had
- 39:09Speaker 8: Stuart from michigan, was there and that was kind of the.
- 39:11Speaker 8: Big debate, But yeah sawyer was the option we.
- 39:13Speaker 4: Went WITH so i like both those guys.
- 39:15Speaker 7: A lot, You know i've gone back and Forth With
- 39:17Speaker 7: josiah stewart just because of. His size if they're gonna
- 39:21Speaker 7: be a true four down defense and not so much
- 39:24Speaker 7: use like a stand up three four, outside LINEBACKER then
- 39:27Speaker 7: i don't really Know where stuart fits into, That necessarily Whereas,
- 39:30Speaker 7: with sawyer like he's a hand in the dirt four
- 39:33Speaker 7: to three n for the next, five, Years right like
- 39:35Speaker 7: that's a guy that's going to be, a starter another.
- 39:38Speaker 7: SAFER pick i, would say you know what you're getting,
- 39:40Speaker 7: with him and the leadership and the intangibles just off.
- 39:44Speaker 7: The charts my Comp For jack Sawyer Is, Mike.
- 39:47Speaker 3: RABEL like i really, feel Like.
- 39:51Speaker 7: And i'm not, saying THAT like i know it's they
- 39:53Speaker 7: all Went To ohio state and they both. Are, captains
- 39:55Speaker 7: no but it's really when you watch, them play neither
- 39:59Speaker 7: one of them we're going to wow you with explosiveness
- 40:02Speaker 7: or athleticism or like be the the most twitched up
- 40:06Speaker 7: guy on. The field but they know how to. Play football,
- 40:09Speaker 7: they're smart they're intelligent guys in the. Football field they're.
- 40:13Speaker 7: Great leaders i'll never get the image out of my
- 40:16Speaker 7: Head with sawyer of him in the Middle Of ohio
- 40:19Speaker 7: state's huddle Before The national, championship game all eyes on
- 40:22Speaker 7: him and he's just in the middle rallying, the troops
- 40:25Speaker 7: getting everybody ready.
- 40:26Speaker 3: For battle Like That's, Jack SAWYER.
- 40:28Speaker 1: And i think that's the culture that they need to
- 40:29Speaker 1: start building Here In. NEW england i think That's what
- 40:31Speaker 1: rabel wants to start. Building here you need that guy
- 40:33Speaker 1: that they can look to in those sort of sort.
- 40:35Speaker 1: Of SITUATIONS so, i mean you kind of hit all the.
- 40:37Speaker 1: STOPS there, i agree.
- 40:38Speaker 8: All right so next We Had carson SWEESHINGER from ucla
- 40:41Speaker 8: linebacker thoughts on.
- 40:43Speaker 3: That, THERE yeah, i was, YOU know i was late
- 40:46Speaker 3: to him a.
- 40:46Speaker 7: LITTLE bit i didn't do the linebackers a ton just
- 40:49Speaker 7: because of all the free agent signings that they. Made
- 40:51Speaker 7: there but he's a very very good coverage player and
- 40:54Speaker 7: a very. Instinctive player he's got a little bit of
- 40:57Speaker 7: size to him compared to some of the other guys in,
- 40:59Speaker 7: that mold, You Know, Jeffrey Bossa, barrett carter those guys
- 41:03Speaker 7: are playing at, You Know Chris paul junior twenty five
- 41:08Speaker 7: sweastioningers closer to tow thirty five, to forty which. IS
- 41:11Speaker 7: good i think that that'll help him out IN the
- 41:13Speaker 7: nfl level be a little bit sturdier against. The run
- 41:16Speaker 7: but what you see with him, is range, you know sideline, to,
- 41:18Speaker 7: sideline speed ability to run with verticals in the middle of,
- 41:21Speaker 7: the field. And coverage he's got some really high level
- 41:24Speaker 7: coverage reps on. His tape so if you're one, of those,
- 41:27Speaker 7: you know You're a patriot fan that's starving for, more
- 41:30Speaker 7: athleticism more speed at the, second level he's definitely checking.
- 41:33Speaker 8: Those boxes so the next, two picks we Had A
- 41:35Speaker 8: gunner Helm from texas tight end AND Then dj Giddens From.
- 41:38Speaker 8: Kansas state this Is where CHRIS and i were kind
- 41:40Speaker 8: of starting to argue a little because there was a
- 41:42Speaker 8: lot of talent still on, the board so we're trying
- 41:44Speaker 8: to see where.
- 41:44Speaker 4: IT fell i think.
- 41:45Speaker 1: There's a lot of talent in the middle rounds, for
- 41:46Speaker 1: sure for tight end and for. RUNNING back, i mean
- 41:49Speaker 1: we're Looking At devin neil. As, well yep we Really Like,
- 41:52Speaker 1: devin neil but we kind of had that MINDSET On
- 41:54Speaker 1: dj giddens kind of has that receiver back.
- 41:56Speaker 9: In him he was awesome in the run game.
- 42:00Speaker 1: This, past year the ref rovers thirteen. Hundred yards this
- 42:03Speaker 1: he's in like absolute freak.
- 42:04Speaker 8: On offense so McDaniels likes those receiving running backs.
- 42:07Speaker 9: And stuff so And also, HELM too i mean just
- 42:10Speaker 9: a prototypical.
- 42:11Speaker 1: Tight, end yeah, you, know yeah just so really he's
- 42:14Speaker 1: very appealing to, the eye especially the page's two older.
- 42:16Speaker 9: Tight, ends, yeah yeah.
- 42:18Speaker 7: You know Starting With. Gunner helm so he he injured
- 42:22Speaker 7: his ankle like right before the forty, yard dash ended
- 42:25Speaker 7: up running a pretty bad forty yard dash of, the
- 42:27Speaker 7: combine but it. Was understandable, you know he shared a
- 42:30Speaker 7: picture of it on social media and that thing was
- 42:32Speaker 7: swollen up. And EVERYTHING so i think you can you
- 42:35Speaker 7: can kind of right off. The FORTY like i think
- 42:38Speaker 7: if they, drafted him a lot of people would be
- 42:39Speaker 7: like four to eight, tight end like what are? We
- 42:41Speaker 7: DOING but i would ignore the forty yard dash. With
- 42:44Speaker 7: him my comp for Him Is. HUNTER henry i think
- 42:47Speaker 7: he's just kind. Of crafty he's got. Enough juice if
- 42:50Speaker 7: you want him to run, the seam if you want
- 42:52Speaker 7: him to run a, shallow like he can. Do That
- 42:54Speaker 7: but i'd say he's probably one of the better tight
- 42:57Speaker 7: ends on angular routes and then obviously finding some spots
- 43:00Speaker 7: and zone coverage and just being quarterback friendly over the
- 43:03Speaker 7: middle of. The field he uses his physicality well at
- 43:06Speaker 7: the top of. The route he's not a difference, making
- 43:09Speaker 7: blocker but he can hold.
- 43:10Speaker 3: His own, you know he.
- 43:10Speaker 7: Can block he can still. Make guys, you know he'll,
- 43:13Speaker 7: be okay he'll be serviceable as an. Inline BLOCKER so
- 43:16Speaker 7: i see a Lot Of hunter henry, With, HIM like
- 43:17Speaker 7: i think he's just gonna be, a steady reliable quarterback friendly,
- 43:21Speaker 7: security blanket which you know. All no and Then, With
- 43:27Speaker 7: giddins gettins is fun to me because like you know
- 43:30Speaker 7: when you talk about like your your friends at the
- 43:32Speaker 7: why that just got those crafty basketball moves but like
- 43:35Speaker 7: is not athletic necessarily but just knows how. To hoop
- 43:38Speaker 7: LIKE That's. Dj GIDDENS Like dj giddons has some really
- 43:42Speaker 7: like kind of weird moves and like weird body movements,
- 43:47Speaker 7: and uh you know that kind, of stuff but like it,
- 43:49Speaker 7: just WORKS like i, you know it's just one of
- 43:51Speaker 7: those things that that just gets the.
- 43:53Speaker 3: Job done.
- 43:53Speaker 7: He's, elusive uh he's really good between. THE tackles i
- 43:56Speaker 7: think he's probably one of the better guys in. That
- 43:59Speaker 7: range is like a pure between the tackles. Running back,
- 44:01Speaker 7: YOU know i think there's a lot of speed guys
- 44:03Speaker 7: at that point in. The draft you know Two In,
- 44:06Speaker 7: jaden blue You Know bishard SMITH. From smu but if
- 44:10Speaker 7: you want a guy that can play a little bit
- 44:12Speaker 7: on early downs too and and make some things happen with.
- 44:15Speaker 7: The BALL but i just, WATCHING him i, was like
- 44:17Speaker 7: this guy is kind, Of wonky like he's kind of
- 44:19Speaker 7: he's kind of crafty.
- 44:20Speaker 8: WITH it i like that, about him, All right so
- 44:22Speaker 8: let's finish. Up here We got seth McLaughlan From, Ohio STATE,
- 44:25Speaker 8: big osu one of. My favorites was A big, chris
- 44:28Speaker 8: pick and then we'll get to the. Other two We
- 44:30Speaker 8: Had kobe King Linebacker, penn state And Then, jimmy horn
- 44:34Speaker 8: which was a bit more. Best available had some Fun With. Jimmy.
- 44:37Speaker 7: Horn yeah so, you know first, of all, with McLaughlin
- 44:40Speaker 7: it's a good it's a, good pick the, shrewd pick
- 44:42Speaker 7: because you know he's coming off the injury tours achilles
- 44:46Speaker 7: in practice last Year, in november so we might be
- 44:49Speaker 7: looking at a red shirt rookie season. For him but You,
- 44:52Speaker 7: Have garrett Bradberry and house at center that can play
- 44:55Speaker 7: the position for twenty.
- 44:56Speaker 3: Twenty five and if.
- 44:57Speaker 7: McLachlan, was healthy he'd be the best center in, the draft.
- 45:00Speaker 7: You know so he would be a third or fourth
- 45:01Speaker 7: round pick probably at. That position so you, draft him,
- 45:05Speaker 7: you know a little bit later than that because of,
- 45:07Speaker 7: the injury but in twenty, twenty six if he Was
- 45:10Speaker 7: the patriots, starting, CENTER like i wouldn't. BE shocked i
- 45:12Speaker 7: think that that's. A possibility so THAT that i like about.
- 45:16Speaker 7: That pick, you know you're, looking, ahead right you're, thinking
- 45:19Speaker 7: ahead and you have those extra day three picks now
- 45:21Speaker 7: at the extra fifth in the, Two seventh so it
- 45:24Speaker 7: makes some. SENSE there i think betweting Him And, drew,
- 45:27Speaker 7: kendall like those are the two guys at Center that
- 45:29Speaker 7: i've got my eye on For. The patriots one of
- 45:31Speaker 7: those guys is going to Be.
- 45:32Speaker 9: A patriot i. DON'T know I like kendall, a LOT
- 45:35Speaker 9: but i really.
- 45:35Speaker 1: Liked yeah, so yeah is that kind of that red
- 45:39Speaker 1: shirt year if he took you his first season here
- 45:41Speaker 1: and kind of Falls, Behind bradbury So give bradbury. A chance,
- 45:44Speaker 1: BUT yeah i really liked everything you Did At. Ohio
- 45:46Speaker 1: STATE and i mean he's kind of a. Field general
- 45:49Speaker 1: he kind of just runs. The show he's a, true center.
- 45:52Speaker 3: So, yep yep he's a little bit more.
- 45:55Speaker 7: PLAY strength i, would say, You know kendall's a really,
- 45:57Speaker 7: good athlete really, athletic CENTER whereas i think mclaughlan's, you know, big,
- 46:02Speaker 7: ten right like a little bit more tougher and a
- 46:06Speaker 7: hard nose.
- 46:06Speaker 3: And that kind. Of.
- 46:07Speaker 8: Stuff yep And So kobe king linebacker that was kind
- 46:10Speaker 8: of best player on. The, BOARD yeah, i know we
- 46:12Speaker 8: had some Fun With. Jimmy horn you, KNOW me I Like.
- 46:14Speaker 8: COACH prime i think there's anything wrong with picking up
- 46:17Speaker 8: another receiver at. The end see how they.
- 46:18Speaker 7: Pan out, he's fast right like you're Gonna have you're
- 46:22Speaker 7: gonna have a four to three for, you know high,
- 46:24Speaker 7: FOUR threes i would say is. PROBABLY realistic i think
- 46:26Speaker 7: his pro day was like four, three FIVE and i,
- 46:28Speaker 7: WAS like i don't know if he's, that fast but,
- 46:30Speaker 7: YOU know i think four to four flat to, you
- 46:33Speaker 7: know four three eight is probably a good spot. For
- 46:35Speaker 7: him and if there's one THING that i know for
- 46:38Speaker 7: Sure that drake may, can do it's throw the.
- 46:40Speaker 2: Go ball so if.
- 46:40Speaker 7: You get him As many goball receivers as, you can
- 46:44Speaker 7: there's nothing wrong. With that so you Throw a horn
- 46:46Speaker 7: in There With Kai shan Boudi With javon, baker maybe,
- 46:50Speaker 7: you know and try to compete for that vertical stretch type.
- 46:53Speaker 9: Of role he's he's sort of like. A, jitterbug yeah
- 46:56Speaker 9: that's THE way i would.
- 46:57Speaker 1: Just try he's kind of a jitterbug out in the,
- 46:58Speaker 1: open field kind of moves, really well obviously has a ton,
- 47:01Speaker 1: of SPEED and, i think, you know it's an.
- 47:03Speaker 9: APPEALING pick i don't know if they're gonna take.
- 47:04Speaker 8: Him, there yeah it's just, you know let's have some
- 47:06Speaker 8: fun at the end of, the, draft Because like evan
- 47:08Speaker 8: said in, the past we need a. FAIRWAY draft i
- 47:10Speaker 8: think we kind of. Hit, that yeah touched up upon
- 47:12Speaker 8: a bit. Upon everything so what letter grade would you
- 47:16Speaker 8: Give the CHRIS and t?
- 47:17Speaker 9: Spot overall.
- 47:18Speaker 7: THAT'S it i think what you said Is, fair like
- 47:20Speaker 7: it's a good. Fairway draft it's a good. Realistic draft,
- 47:23Speaker 7: YOU know i see a lot of, mock Drafts and
- 47:25Speaker 7: i'm not trying to, throw SHADE but i see a
- 47:27Speaker 7: lot of mock drafts where people are taking guys that
- 47:29Speaker 7: are going to go two rounds earlier, or like, you know.
- 47:31Speaker 7: Something crazy THIS one i think is more or. Less realistic,
- 47:34Speaker 7: You know buka might go a little bit earlier than,
- 47:37Speaker 7: thirty eight that might need to be a. Trade up but,
- 47:39Speaker 7: IN general i think all these guys are going TO be,
- 47:42Speaker 7: nfl players Right And will campbell hopefully be better. Than
- 47:45Speaker 7: that but, You, Know Bukah, Jack, sawyer sweahingert like those
- 47:48Speaker 7: guys are going to be good to, QUALITY starters i
- 47:53Speaker 7: would say IN the nfl at their respective positions and
- 47:57Speaker 7: type of this type. Of draft that's what you're. Going for,
- 48:00Speaker 7: you know we all want to see them hit on
- 48:02Speaker 7: like an all pro, caliber player, you know like they
- 48:05Speaker 7: did a couple of years Ago. With gonzo, BUT realistically
- 48:07Speaker 7: i think that this is what we're.
- 48:08Speaker 8: Looking, at awesome, All right CHRISTY plus b plus. We'll,
- 48:12Speaker 8: plus yeah we'll take.
- 48:13Speaker 9: That, PAIR.
- 48:16Speaker 3: Yeah b plus.
- 48:17Speaker 9: That's better that's that's your playing on.
- 48:18Speaker 8: The greens we'll take you. Have it thank you so
- 48:20Speaker 8: much for joining our little mock. Draft, segment guys we're
- 48:23Speaker 8: gonna go to the offensive, line next where we'll Talk
- 48:25Speaker 8: About will campbell and maybe McLoughlin. As well so let's
- 48:28Speaker 8: get to that.
- 48:28Speaker 5: Segment next we're here talking the, offensive line, And guys
- 48:32Speaker 5: i'm gonna say that this might be what we're most
- 48:35Speaker 5: qualified to talk About, BECAUSE chris i don't know, about
- 48:37Speaker 5: YOU but i was an offensive tackle in. High school
- 48:38Speaker 5: here at my one hundred and ninety. Five pounds did
- 48:40Speaker 5: you play a little old?
- 48:41Speaker 3: Tackle?
- 48:41Speaker 1: Too guard little little, little guard little center were derailed
- 48:44Speaker 1: by the, foot injury.
- 48:45Speaker 9: But you don't want to get.
- 48:47Speaker 5: Into, details, sees guys your size OF why i gave
- 48:49Speaker 5: up FOOTBALL because i was not big enough to be.
- 48:51Speaker 5: A tackle so, jokes, aside though it's a big position
- 48:55Speaker 5: to need For, the patriots and we're gonna touch. On
- 48:56Speaker 5: guards we're gonna talk a little bit on centers. As
- 48:59Speaker 5: well just off the, top though i'mnna start, With, you
- 49:01Speaker 5: chris just, real quick, offensive tackle, offensive, Guard center how
- 49:04Speaker 5: would you rank those positions of need For?
- 49:06Speaker 8: THE patriots i.
- 49:07Speaker 9: Would, say, one two three has to, be tackle. CENTER'S
- 49:10Speaker 9: guards i.
- 49:10Speaker 1: Think you have a lot of guards, right now a
- 49:12Speaker 1: lot of young guards kind of that you're working. With
- 49:16Speaker 1: currently you want to see kind of what you're gonna
- 49:18Speaker 1: do the cold strange, as well so you have that
- 49:21Speaker 1: in there In. Play city so is still on. The
- 49:23Speaker 1: team you know a lot of guys that you've been
- 49:24Speaker 1: working with over the last couple. Of years you want
- 49:27Speaker 1: to kind of see what you can do. With them but,
- 49:29Speaker 1: FOR me i think obviously the Release Of david andrews
- 49:32Speaker 1: important fill there, at center and, OF course i mean
- 49:35Speaker 1: they don't have a left TACKLE and i think that
- 49:38Speaker 1: just has to be your point.
- 49:39Speaker 8: Of, emphasis yeah you teet, It up Chris.
- 49:41Speaker 4: And evan this.
- 49:42Speaker 5: Is it we're finally the moment in draft countdown where
- 49:44Speaker 5: we're going to Talk About will campbell all, right now
- 49:46Speaker 5: we've Talked About. Will campbell i's, gonna say finally to,
- 49:50Speaker 5: this point but this is the official draft count down
- 49:52Speaker 5: Discussion Of, will CAMPBELL and i know we're going to
- 49:56Speaker 5: talk about but let me just set the stage a.
- 49:57Speaker 5: LITTLE bit, i mean this guy's been starting a left
- 49:59Speaker 5: tackle since he was freshman in. High school he's Two TIME.
- 50:01Speaker 5: All sec he is highly, highly athletic but he.
- 50:05Speaker 4: Has some questions about.
- 50:05Speaker 5: His length.
- 50:06Speaker 8: I've heard is that is?
- 50:07Speaker 7: That?
- 50:07Speaker 4: Correct evan is that how you would?
- 50:08Speaker 3: Put it you might you might, Say, that mike you might.
- 50:10Speaker 7: SAY that i think the biggest thing to on the
- 50:13Speaker 7: pro Side For will campbell as, a tackle he wins with.
- 50:16Speaker 7: His feet he's not trying to win with great size or.
- 50:19Speaker 7: Great length he wins with, his feet and he is
- 50:22Speaker 7: a fantastic mirror in past protection with his feet, inside
- 50:26Speaker 7: outside really protects the edge very. Very well but when
- 50:30Speaker 7: he does get his hands, on people he's got cinderblocks,
- 50:33Speaker 7: For hands he's got very, strong core and he's got
- 50:35Speaker 7: that ability to get your hands inside and really end
- 50:38Speaker 7: reps quickly and, you know control blocks and things. LIKE
- 50:41Speaker 7: that i think some of the concerns that people have
- 50:43Speaker 7: with the length they're valid in some respects that you
- 50:47Speaker 7: see at times that he'll drift out to his past
- 50:50Speaker 7: sets trying to get guys off his outside shoulder and
- 50:53Speaker 7: that will open up. The inside so you see a
- 50:55Speaker 7: lot of inside moves get to him. At TIMES but
- 50:59Speaker 7: I would i don't see a ton of is bull
- 51:01Speaker 7: rushers or edge rushers on, the edge, you know cutting
- 51:04Speaker 7: that speed to turn. THE corner i think he protects
- 51:07Speaker 7: the corner. Pretty well but you have to understand that
- 51:10Speaker 7: there are limitations that he's going to have to work
- 51:12Speaker 7: around with his. Arm length but at the, same time
- 51:16Speaker 7: he's the best blocker in. THE draft i have had
- 51:18Speaker 7: him as the number one offensive lineman from wire to
- 51:21Speaker 7: wire here in this, draft PROCESS and i think it's
- 51:24Speaker 7: by a pretty. WIDE margin i would say that he's
- 51:27Speaker 7: the best. Offensive lineman just.
- 51:29Speaker 1: To just to jump in on it with the, arm length,
- 51:32Speaker 1: You know i've never been a full believer, in that did?
- 51:36Speaker 4: You EVER.
- 51:39Speaker 1: So i.
- 51:40Speaker 4: Could not.
- 51:43Speaker 1: But that, BEING said I Mean, will campbell like, you
- 51:47Speaker 1: said he's been playing left tackle his. Whole career he
- 51:50Speaker 1: knows how to play the position and arm length at,
- 51:53Speaker 1: that point like, he again he's already been doing.
- 51:56Speaker 9: It well like it shouldn't be that much of.
- 51:59Speaker 1: A discussion i know is important to, talk about, and
- 52:01Speaker 1: like OBVIOUSLY the nfl defensive ends and ed rushers are
- 52:05Speaker 1: much different, from college, you know just different beasts on
- 52:09Speaker 1: that side of.
- 52:09Speaker 9: The ball but he knows how to play. THE position
- 52:12Speaker 9: i think that's what's.
- 52:12Speaker 1: Important MOST and I Mean travis Hunter and abdulcutter and on,
- 52:18Speaker 1: THE board i really think it's hard to Not Go.
- 52:19Speaker 5: Will, campbell yeah and he did IN the, sec two
- 52:21Speaker 5: which of course it's a badge of Honor For. Will
- 52:23Speaker 5: campbell the OTHER guy i really want to highlight before
- 52:25Speaker 5: we kind of start grouping players a, little bit Is
- 52:27Speaker 5: armand membo blew up.
- 52:29Speaker 4: The combine three.
- 52:30Speaker 5: Year starter right tackle six four three, thirty two built
- 52:32Speaker 5: like a, right tackle some maybe, discussion now could he
- 52:36Speaker 5: possibly move to left tackle with his athleticism doesn't have the.
- 52:39Speaker 5: IDEAL link i would say height problem. For him but
- 52:42Speaker 5: have he blew up? The combine and after we, got
- 52:44Speaker 5: back all of, a sudden we had mock drafts popping
- 52:47Speaker 5: Up with membo being the pick.
- 52:48Speaker 7: Fourth, overall yeah and when you watch his tape to
- 52:51Speaker 7: the movement skills and the athleticism show up all over,
- 52:54Speaker 7: the film especially in the, RUN game i would say
- 52:57Speaker 7: he's really good at reaching blocks on the line, of scrimmage,
- 52:59Speaker 7: you know the front. Side end you pull them inside
- 53:02Speaker 7: and allow those runners to get. The corner he can
- 53:04Speaker 7: get up to the, second level he, can combo he
- 53:06Speaker 7: can hit somebody on the, first level get up to
- 53:09Speaker 7: the second level on a corner safety. Or linebacker so
- 53:12Speaker 7: he's really talented and you can. See that and pass
- 53:15Speaker 7: protection gets out of his stands, pretty well slides. PRETTY
- 53:18Speaker 7: well i think the one THING that i had hesitation
- 53:20Speaker 7: with him on his. Game tape, you know first, of
- 53:23Speaker 7: all as a run blocker can get a little over
- 53:24Speaker 7: zealous and get a little, bit extended over extended and
- 53:28Speaker 7: like guys, you know backdoor him and things. Like that
- 53:30Speaker 7: but in, pass protection there's not a TON of nfl
- 53:34Speaker 7: style dropbacks on. His Film, at missouri particularly, last year
- 53:39Speaker 7: they run a lot of. Moving pockets they chip a
- 53:42Speaker 7: lot with their running backs and tight ends coming out of,
- 53:44Speaker 7: the backfield so they don't necessarily put their tackles on
- 53:48Speaker 7: islands like.
- 53:49Speaker 3: You SAW with Lsu And.
- 53:50Speaker 7: Will campbell so when you're trying to translate him to,
- 53:53Speaker 7: left tackle do we have enough evidence that he can
- 53:57Speaker 7: pass protect on the blind side at a highlight level
- 54:00Speaker 7: To Keep drake.
- 54:01Speaker 3: MAY clean i don't know if we necessarily.
- 54:03Speaker 7: Have that it's probably a little bit more Projecting for
- 54:06Speaker 7: membu in that respect than it would Be for campbell.
- 54:09Speaker 9: To kind of go off.
- 54:11Speaker 6: Of that.
- 54:11Speaker 1: EVAN too, i mean you already kind of made that
- 54:14Speaker 1: kind of trial and Error With, kayten wallace of course
- 54:17Speaker 1: primary right Tackle At.
- 54:18Speaker 9: Penn state tried him on the.
- 54:20Speaker 1: Left side he did, get hurt so you don't know
- 54:22Speaker 1: exactly what he's capable, of there but there's probably. Still
- 54:26Speaker 1: POTENTIAL but i just think you need that true been playing. The,
- 54:30Speaker 1: position yeah that's kind of my.
- 54:32Speaker 4: Take off You Signed morgan.
- 54:33Speaker 8: Moses Too.
- 54:34Speaker 5: Kadon wallace we Here From elliot wolf down at the,
- 54:36Speaker 5: owners meetings feeling like it seems like you're, gonna have,
- 54:40Speaker 5: you know a Right Side kaden wallace probably gonna be
- 54:42Speaker 5: maybe a, swing tackle but most likely on the. RIGHT
- 54:44Speaker 5: side i want to go down the list a little.
- 54:46Speaker 5: Bit here i'll throw a few names, at. You guys
- 54:48Speaker 5: names we've heard a lot though over the course of mock,
- 54:51Speaker 5: draft season which of course plenty of mock drafts.
- 54:53Speaker 4: Out there you want to go.
- 54:54Speaker 5: Find one But Between, calvin banks who was maybe in
- 54:57Speaker 5: the conversation early On With will campbell up near, The Top,
- 55:00Speaker 5: josh connery another guy has seen plenty of, mock drafts,
- 55:02Speaker 5: very athletic ariante ursery just three. Popular names and the
- 55:06Speaker 5: Last one i'll throw in There Is, josh simmons who
- 55:09Speaker 5: could possibly be the best left tackle eventually in this
- 55:11Speaker 5: class if, he didn't, you know.
- 55:13Speaker 4: Get hurt this past season was off to a really.
- 55:15Speaker 5: Promising START stat i Saw On, josh simmons, you know
- 55:18Speaker 5: only allow, you know just, highly, athletic big but a
- 55:21Speaker 5: little bit of. Projection there maybe not What the patriots
- 55:23Speaker 5: need for some. Immediate health just overall when you look
- 55:26Speaker 5: at that group of what do you?
- 55:27Speaker 3: Take, away Yeah With, kelvin banks are going to steal
- 55:30Speaker 3: a phrase.
- 55:30Speaker 7: From you he's kind of in the doughnut to me
- 55:32Speaker 7: of Like the patriots at four And the patriots at.
- 55:35Speaker 3: Thirty eight maybe he follows a little.
- 55:37Speaker 7: Bit further than people think and they could slide up
- 55:39Speaker 7: to like twenty or, twenty one twenty two.
- 55:42Speaker 3: That range and Still Get.
- 55:43Speaker 7: Kelvin BANKS but i see him as a guy through
- 55:46Speaker 7: and through that goes in the teams of most drafts at.
- 55:49Speaker 7: That position really good, run blocker really athletic. Run blocker
- 55:53Speaker 7: but you watch his Tape against clemson In The College
- 55:56Speaker 7: football playoff and he was just dominant in that game
- 55:59Speaker 7: in the, run Game Sprung jaden blue for like an eighty,
- 56:02Speaker 7: yard touchdown, you know just going right. Behind him so
- 56:04Speaker 7: there's a lot of That With. Calvin banks it's a positives.
- 56:08Speaker 7: FOR him i think his, body controlling his balance and
- 56:10Speaker 7: pass protection is where people knock him a.
- 56:12Speaker 3: Little bit, you know when he has to.
- 56:14Speaker 7: Get out and redirect and mirror guys out on, the
- 56:16Speaker 7: edge he can sometimes lose his balance and his body
- 56:19Speaker 7: control get a little wild with. His technique so there's
- 56:22Speaker 7: some things to work on there with him in. That
- 56:25Speaker 7: RESPECT but i still feel like he's a pretty plug
- 56:28Speaker 7: and play tackle in. The pros and when you, have
- 56:32Speaker 7: that those guys usually go, Top twenty like you're not
- 56:35Speaker 7: usually looking at those guys late some of the other
- 56:37Speaker 7: guys You mentioned Ursery, and connerly, to me is a.
- 56:40Speaker 7: Flavor thing it just depends on what kind of tackle.
- 56:43Speaker 7: You want, You know ursery is a, bigger guy, you know,
- 56:46Speaker 7: six six three hundred and, thirty pounds three hundred and.
- 56:48Speaker 3: Forty pounds he has all of the big, tackle.
- 56:52Speaker 7: Tools right, you know he's a, people mover he's a great,
- 56:54Speaker 7: Run blocker he's athletic for. His size he gets out
- 56:57Speaker 7: of his, stance quickly but he can really dent the line.
- 57:00Speaker 7: Of scrimmage, you know you can run right behind him
- 57:03Speaker 7: on the goal line and have a pretty good idea
- 57:05Speaker 7: that you're going to get the. Football In So, Trent Brown,
- 57:07Speaker 7: orlando brown, you know like those kinds Of guys like
- 57:10Speaker 7: that's kind OF what i See. With ursery connerly is
- 57:13Speaker 7: the more athletic of, the two but, he's smaller better,
- 57:15Speaker 7: pass protector moves a little bit better in terms of
- 57:19Speaker 7: that type. Of STUFF but i think that's just what you're, looking.
- 57:22Speaker 7: At right do you want the people moving tackle or
- 57:26Speaker 7: do you want the high level. Pass protector and you
- 57:28Speaker 7: kind of have to side between those two two typically
- 57:31Speaker 7: eileen towards the pass protector when you're talking about the,
- 57:33Speaker 7: blind side but in general that that's where. We're at and,
- 57:36Speaker 7: last one, You, know simmons he easily could have been
- 57:40Speaker 7: the best left tackle in the draft if he had.
- 57:42Speaker 7: Stayed healthy but there's. TWO things a he's, not healthy,
- 57:45Speaker 7: you know that's a big. One tear so that's that's
- 57:49Speaker 7: usually a year off, from football calendar year off. From
- 57:53Speaker 7: football so you, have that you might be looking at
- 57:55Speaker 7: him red shirting as. A rookie i don't know If
- 57:58Speaker 7: the patriots are in the camp of being able to
- 58:00Speaker 7: red shirt first, round. PICKS right i think they need
- 58:03Speaker 7: their guys to play and to make an impact. Early
- 58:05Speaker 7: ON and i would also just mention because of, the
- 58:07Speaker 7: injury he did not get to the Meat Of ohio.
- 58:10Speaker 7: State schedule so he played beat up on bad, competition
- 58:14Speaker 7: basically Is what i'm. Getting at so when He, played
- 58:17Speaker 7: oregon when He, played michigan when he played teams In
- 58:21Speaker 7: The College, football playoff like what he had still been
- 58:24Speaker 7: dominant against. Those teams will. Never know and that's the. Tough,
- 58:28Speaker 7: PART yeah i just. REAL quick i got to. Jump
- 58:30Speaker 7: in just ONE thing i watched over the course of my.
- 58:32Speaker 5: Film study was there. On YouTube you guys can. Find
- 58:34Speaker 5: It It's josh Connolly Versus. Abdul, carter yeah and that
- 58:37Speaker 5: matchup just shows How Athletic josh. Connolly is that's what you're,
- 58:40Speaker 5: looking for that left, tackle position, GREAT feet, I Mean
- 58:43Speaker 5: abdull carter, Highly Athletic. Josh connolly connolly was able to moot.
- 58:47Speaker 5: With him impressive, To, me chris what do you got on?
- 58:49Speaker 1: Those, GUYS yeah i mean Talking About kelvin banks. LIVE
- 58:52Speaker 1: earlier i really like his second. Level blocking if it's
- 58:54Speaker 1: all as he's saying in, the box if he gets
- 58:55Speaker 1: outsiding off you a, little ify But Love kelvin banks
- 58:58Speaker 1: at the. Second level connolly kind of. Same thing can
- 59:00Speaker 1: kind of get, out there help you in, run blocking
- 59:01Speaker 1: but also a great. Pass protector another guy that we.
- 59:04Speaker 9: Haven't Mentioned.
- 59:05Speaker 1: Hyatt milliam he's been playing LEFT tackle i think thirty
- 59:08Speaker 1: three games Straight At, west virginia so you know he's really.
- 59:11Speaker 1: Comfortable there another guy really great in. Pass PROTECTION so,
- 59:15Speaker 1: i think as we've said time and, time again you.
- 59:17Speaker 1: NEED that i think primary. Left tackle you know that's
- 59:21Speaker 1: what you're.
- 59:21Speaker 4: Looking for You saw melon down at the senior.
- 59:23Speaker 8: Ball.
- 59:23Speaker 7: Right Yeah SO millim i think is gonna play guard
- 59:25Speaker 7: at the. Next level he's a little bit. SHORTER arms
- 59:27Speaker 7: i know we had talked about That With, will campbell
- 59:29Speaker 7: but his arms are in the lower end of the
- 59:32Speaker 7: thirty two range. For tackle it's probably not likely and
- 59:36Speaker 7: he's kind of a power, oriented player so it looks
- 59:39Speaker 7: like he'd fit win well. At guard he actually took
- 59:41Speaker 7: some reps at center two down, in mobiles so they're
- 59:45Speaker 7: looking at him as maybe somebody that could play all
- 59:47Speaker 7: three positions on.
- 59:47Speaker 3: THE interier I Love.
- 59:49Speaker 7: WYATT milliam i think that that's like a great third
- 59:51Speaker 7: round pick option For the patriots as somebody that could
- 59:54Speaker 7: Probably play day one at left guard if they wanted.
- 59:57Speaker 7: Him TO and i know they have some names that
- 59:59Speaker 7: they could throw at a left guard with their recent,
- 1:00:01Speaker 7: draft picks but if they really wanted to remake the
- 1:00:04Speaker 7: left side of the, offensive line and they came out
- 1:00:06Speaker 7: of this Draft with Campbell And, wiltt milin like that's
- 1:00:10Speaker 7: the left side for the next, five years, you know
- 1:00:12Speaker 7: or maybe. Even LONGER so i feel really good about him.
- 1:00:15Speaker 7: At guard maybe not so much, at tackle but there
- 1:00:18Speaker 7: are some DEVELOPMENTAL tackles i think are. Interesting too, you
- 1:00:22Speaker 7: Know Just charles Grant from William, and mary a really,
- 1:00:24Speaker 7: great athlete probably has to be remade in, pass protection
- 1:00:28Speaker 7: but an awesome run blocker already just pops off, the tape,
- 1:00:31Speaker 7: you know against that. Level Competition anthony Belton From enzie
- 1:00:35Speaker 7: state another GUY that i think can have some tools
- 1:00:38Speaker 7: and has some upside maybe as a. DEVELOPMENTAL player i
- 1:00:41Speaker 7: know you were going To Mention, Logan, brown.
- 1:00:43Speaker 5: Yeah, kid, yes yeah a little bit of, ro big all,
- 1:00:46Speaker 5: the sides all, the measurables just raw one season as. A,
- 1:00:48Speaker 5: startup yeah.
- 1:00:49Speaker 7: And, you know he he had some Issues at wisconsin
- 1:00:52Speaker 7: that they'll have to vet off, the field ended up
- 1:00:55Speaker 7: leaving that program and Going, To kansas so that's kind
- 1:00:58Speaker 7: of knocked him down the board a. Little BIT but
- 1:00:59Speaker 7: i think, tools wise, you know he would be a
- 1:01:02Speaker 7: top one hundred pick if it was just based off of,
- 1:01:04Speaker 7: the football but unfortunately he had an incident with a
- 1:01:07Speaker 7: Teammate at wisconsin and it caused him. To transfer, so.
- 1:01:10Speaker 5: Yeah just to put a boat here on the, TACKLE
- 1:01:12Speaker 5: class I gotta i gotta MENTION our, Bc Guy. AUSIE
- 1:01:14Speaker 5: tropello i know you, saw him, giant guy, right tackle
- 1:01:17Speaker 5: played a little left tackle early in his CAREER, at
- 1:01:19Speaker 5: bc but it seems like he's added maybe a little
- 1:01:22Speaker 5: bit of Weight even but he's an ascending kind. OF
- 1:01:24Speaker 5: prospect i just don't know guys like if they need
- 1:01:27Speaker 5: to take a right tackle. Right now it just feels
- 1:01:29Speaker 5: like if you're going to draft the tackle in, this
- 1:01:30Speaker 5: class you at least need some kind of hope that
- 1:01:32Speaker 5: maybe he's going to be able to get on the
- 1:01:34Speaker 5: left side, Anybody Else, so chris for you down the
- 1:01:37Speaker 5: list that we didn't.
- 1:01:38Speaker 4: Mention, honestly yeah, all, right cool let's move on.
- 1:01:42Speaker 5: Just guards and centers and. You guys you said at, The,
- 1:01:44Speaker 5: top chris a lot of guards on. The offense you're
- 1:01:47Speaker 5: hoping that some of those guys. WORK out i mean
- 1:01:49Speaker 5: they've thrown a lot at the wall over the last.
- 1:01:50Speaker 4: Few years at.
- 1:01:52Speaker 5: That position not a lot right now you feel confident, About,
- 1:01:55Speaker 5: that oh we We got we're all Set With layden.
- 1:01:57Speaker 5: ROBINSON there i think personally i'd love To see robinson
- 1:02:00Speaker 5: work out of left guard and we don't have to think.
- 1:02:01Speaker 5: About it, but again they're gonna have to prove it on.
- 1:02:03Speaker 5: The field just a few guys go to throw out.
- 1:02:05Speaker 5: At Guard greys abel, outstanding athlete lower level school And
- 1:02:09Speaker 5: See North. Dakota state but another guy you saw At
- 1:02:12Speaker 5: The senior bowl and probably a first.
- 1:02:14Speaker 7: Round, pick fantastic like just a fantastic. FOOTBALL player i
- 1:02:17Speaker 7: see a lot of all. Five, POSITIONS yeah i see
- 1:02:19Speaker 7: a Lot.
- 1:02:19Speaker 9: Of joe toney in.
- 1:02:20Speaker 7: His game you know he's probably gonna play to guard after,
- 1:02:23Speaker 7: playing tackle mostly. In college but there's a really good
- 1:02:27Speaker 7: track record of moving left tackles from college to the
- 1:02:29Speaker 7: left guard in The Pro, Zach Martin, Joe Toney, Brandon
- 1:02:32Speaker 7: Sheriff Elijah, Vera tucker like the list goes on, and
- 1:02:35Speaker 7: ON and i think. He's next he's going to be
- 1:02:37Speaker 7: next in. That line, just athletic great, pass protector plays
- 1:02:41Speaker 7: with great leverage and hand strength in a bolt of
- 1:02:44Speaker 7: run and. PASS game i couldn't say enough good things
- 1:02:47Speaker 7: About grays abel. Like that i'm the doughnut, two though
- 1:02:49Speaker 7: Absolutely stud he's going to be a hell of a
- 1:02:52Speaker 7: player for a long. Long time, BUT this i, would say,
- 1:02:55Speaker 7: you know just, in general looking at, this draft this
- 1:02:58Speaker 7: is a strength at the draft is interior, offensive line
- 1:03:01Speaker 7: especially when you figure in all the tackles that, in
- 1:03:04Speaker 7: college tackles that could, Move inside like we were just
- 1:03:06Speaker 7: Talking about milom And You donovan jackson played a little
- 1:03:09Speaker 7: Tackle At, ohio State and Zabel And cam Williams from
- 1:03:13Speaker 7: texas might.
- 1:03:14Speaker 3: Move inside campbell obviously might.
- 1:03:17Speaker 7: Move inside so there's a bunch of guards in this
- 1:03:20Speaker 7: draft that are really. Really appealing it just as a
- 1:03:23Speaker 7: matter of how early Did the patriots want to jump on.
- 1:03:26Speaker 7: A guard and they Do have robinson and So and
- 1:03:29Speaker 7: strange and some guys that they've already picked early the
- 1:03:32Speaker 7: last couple. Of YEARS but i think a lot of
- 1:03:34Speaker 7: those guys in this draft are better than some of
- 1:03:37Speaker 7: the guys they have currently on.
- 1:03:38Speaker 5: The, roster CHRIS before i, Go you i'm gonna throw
- 1:03:40Speaker 5: one more guy in, The Mix Tyler. Booker alabama i'm
- 1:03:43Speaker 5: almost only putting him on right now because his cool
- 1:03:45Speaker 5: Thing with colmin is he loves taking the love of.
- 1:03:47Speaker 8: The game away. From people Just that.
- 1:03:49Speaker 5: Mahler mentality that to Me Screams.
- 1:03:51Speaker 4: MIKE rabele i heard him.
- 1:03:53Speaker 5: Say THAT then i turned on the tape of him
- 1:03:55Speaker 5: and he's just running, it full knocking him to.
- 1:03:57Speaker 4: The ground really.
- 1:03:58Speaker 9: Tough, PLAYER yeah, I Mean tyler bergee is a natural.
- 1:04:00Speaker 1: Football power like he lines up on, the field he's
- 1:04:03Speaker 1: just gonna he's gonna hunt. You down that's just how
- 1:04:05Speaker 1: that's the ovisive line, Of mentality like you're gonna line
- 1:04:07Speaker 1: up in front, Of me i'm gonna beat you off.
- 1:04:09Speaker 9: The ball that's just how it's. Gonna be the other
- 1:04:11Speaker 9: two guys want To mention.
- 1:04:13Speaker 1: Georgia Guys tate Ralage And dylan fairchild both really Solid,
- 1:04:17Speaker 1: guards fairchild both of them better and.
- 1:04:20Speaker 9: Pass protected.
- 1:04:21Speaker 1: Pass protection fairchild kind of hit still mats at the
- 1:04:25Speaker 1: front of the line on. RUN game i want to
- 1:04:27Speaker 1: see him working on the spot work a little, bit
- 1:04:28Speaker 1: MORE BUT i o would sly those two guys are.
- 1:04:30Speaker 8: Really, solid yeah one more eye just still throw.
- 1:04:32Speaker 5: In There donovan jackson who went over to left Tackle
- 1:04:35Speaker 5: for simmons when he. Got hurt another guy he's probably
- 1:04:37Speaker 5: first first, round pick top, fifty pick plug and play kind.
- 1:04:41Speaker 3: Of, guys yeah.
- 1:04:41Speaker 7: Really smooth just you see the way. HE moves i
- 1:04:45Speaker 7: think definitely fits. More guard just the body type and
- 1:04:48Speaker 7: the play style is more guard. Than tackle but You,
- 1:04:51Speaker 7: mentioned BOOKER and i Wouldn't rule booker out at. Thirty
- 1:04:53Speaker 7: eight he did not have a. Great combine you don't
- 1:04:56Speaker 7: see guards typically drafted high, in general but especially guards
- 1:04:59Speaker 7: that aren't great athletes don't get drafted high. In general
- 1:05:02Speaker 7: the amount of business decisions that people Made when booker
- 1:05:07Speaker 7: was pulling up to the second d literally not a
- 1:05:11Speaker 7: single person wanted to get in front of that. Freight
- 1:05:13Speaker 7: train like it was incredible to watch the amount of
- 1:05:15Speaker 7: guys that would just start, backing up like, all, right
- 1:05:18Speaker 7: yeah you, got, it dude so downhill run Game, at
- 1:05:21Speaker 7: alabama like they love. Pulling guards they love smash mouth Football.
- 1:05:25Speaker 7: In tuscaloosa josh McDaniels loves smash. Mouth football That's a. Patriot,
- 1:05:29Speaker 7: guard like That's a. Patriot GUARD so i could. See
- 1:05:32Speaker 7: him good Shout. WITH fairchild i loved. HIS tape i
- 1:05:35Speaker 7: thought he's kind of underrated in. This draft, former college
- 1:05:38Speaker 7: a high. SCHOOL wrestler i should say he went one
- 1:05:40Speaker 7: hundred and sixty two to zero in his high school,
- 1:05:43Speaker 7: wrestling career, never lost which. Is incredible two time. State
- 1:05:48Speaker 7: champion and you can, see that, you know on, his
- 1:05:51Speaker 7: tape just the way that he can grapple with guys
- 1:05:53Speaker 7: and leverage guys and things. Like that so he's a really,
- 1:05:56Speaker 7: good blocker, really versatile can do a bunch of. Different
- 1:05:59Speaker 7: THINGS so i could see him being an option to at.
- 1:06:02Speaker 5: Left card, all, right lastly let's just move on to the.
- 1:06:04Speaker 5: Center position always really hard. To project these guys are
- 1:06:06Speaker 5: not usually, the top, you know first few rounds of.
- 1:06:09Speaker 5: The draft it's more, very, specific need very specific player
- 1:06:13Speaker 5: that you're going to. BE selecting i just want to
- 1:06:14Speaker 5: Throw out seth, mcla McGlaughlin who run, the One The
- 1:06:16Speaker 5: rimington trophy is the best center of, the nation and
- 1:06:18Speaker 5: of course keeping A Local, drew kendall Son Of pete
- 1:06:21Speaker 5: kendall UP. AT bc i know you saw him as
- 1:06:23Speaker 5: well AT The Bc.
- 1:06:24Speaker 7: Pro, day yeah those are two GUYS that i would
- 1:06:26Speaker 7: look at. At Center and i'd also just mention some
- 1:06:28Speaker 7: of these guys that we talked about. MOVING inside a
- 1:06:30Speaker 7: lot of these guys are taking reps at center during
- 1:06:33Speaker 7: the pre. Draft process, You Know Zabel milam bolt did
- 1:06:36Speaker 7: it In The. Senior bowl so is there a chance
- 1:06:38Speaker 7: that one of those guys ends up at center? LONG
- 1:06:41Speaker 7: term i would, Say yes but those are the two.
- 1:06:43Speaker 7: True centers and McLaughlin had a bad injury last Year
- 1:06:47Speaker 7: At ohio state in practice Unfortunately tours achilles so's, he's
- 1:06:52Speaker 7: injured Just Like. Josh simmons so you're kind of getting
- 1:06:54Speaker 7: into that same conversation there. With him but maybe you
- 1:06:58Speaker 7: do get him now later on date because of, the
- 1:07:00Speaker 7: injury and you stash Him Behind gaarre bradbury for a
- 1:07:04Speaker 7: year and maybe he's your center in twenty. TWENTY six
- 1:07:06Speaker 7: i don't. Hate That And drew kendall just makes so
- 1:07:09Speaker 7: much sense, for them, You Know doug maron was there
- 1:07:12Speaker 7: last Year the patriots offensive Line coach bill O'Brien and josh. McDaniels'
- 1:07:16Speaker 7: offenses they're very. Adjacent center, you know obviously a big
- 1:07:19Speaker 7: mental load on, the CENTER and i feel like that
- 1:07:21Speaker 7: would be a seamless transition for him into those. Two
- 1:07:24Speaker 7: PLAYBOOKS so i think that makes all the sense in.
- 1:07:27Speaker 7: The world but he's getting a lot of buzz right
- 1:07:29Speaker 7: now and he's starting to climb the board a, Little
- 1:07:31Speaker 7: BIT so i think you're looking at mid day Three
- 1:07:33Speaker 7: For Drew kendall Gunny, Centers, CHRIS.
- 1:07:35Speaker 9: Yeah i just want to Touch On drew kendell. THE lot,
- 1:07:37Speaker 9: i mean it's awesome ability.
- 1:07:38Speaker 1: As, well yeah it's very pleasing to get outside on
- 1:07:40Speaker 1: screen passes and kind of lead the charge like, that's
- 1:07:42Speaker 1: huge especially when you need the speed at center as
- 1:07:44Speaker 1: you're the third guy.
- 1:07:45Speaker 9: Out there, you know you gotta gotta be.
- 1:07:47Speaker 1: Out FRONT so i Really Like, drew kendall but a
- 1:07:50Speaker 1: couple Other Guys JONAH monheim usc he has a great first.
- 1:07:54Speaker 1: STEP there i Really Liked eli cox Out of kentucky
- 1:07:57Speaker 1: KIND of sec one OF the, sec tackles.
- 1:08:01Speaker 9: So he has that going.
- 1:08:02Speaker 1: For him he has a, really great great speed also
- 1:08:05Speaker 1: really good second level blocker on the.
- 1:08:07Speaker 9: Run game kind of needs a little more help in.
- 1:08:09Speaker 1: Pass PRO but i, mean again you like to run
- 1:08:12Speaker 1: the ball Here In, new england Especially with Mandre and
- 1:08:14Speaker 1: gibson there in, The backfield so there's that Upside In
- 1:08:17Speaker 1: marie smith Out Of.
- 1:08:18Speaker 5: Florida state, All, right well that's gonna cover the. Offensive
- 1:08:21Speaker 5: line big position to need, of course starts with the.
- 1:08:23Speaker 5: Tackle position could Be a patriots potential pick at, fourth
- 1:08:26Speaker 5: overall and that's going to do it for this Edition
- 1:08:28Speaker 5: A Patriots draft countdown Presented By. Bud light only one
