- 0:27Hey everybody, good morning from the chicken coop.
- 0:31So today we are talking about the good opinion of other people
- 0:37and doesn't always have to be a good opinion, does it?
- 0:41Oh my gosh, no it doesn't. So this is coming up because I
- 0:46just love the the fact that my real life situation sometimes
- 0:50just bring me abilities to be able to talk to you guys about
- 0:53things. Often times it brings me things
- 0:56that I can talk to you guys about.
- 0:57And this weekend was so because I heard a story that my husband
- 1:04was filling me in on about something that happened to
- 1:06someone in his family and how someone else was giving an
- 1:13opinion on this. Unsolicited I might add.
- 1:17And we've talked about unsolicited opinions before on
- 1:20here. However, I I have to.
- 1:23I just had to come back to it because I cannot express enough
- 1:27how. When you decide that you are
- 1:30going to take on the role of calling somebody and giving them
- 1:36information or running into somebody and giving them
- 1:39information that they did not ask for and giving your opinion
- 1:44what that does to the other person and how that makes the
- 1:49other person feel. And when these things come up
- 1:53and they have absolutely nothing to do with you in your life,
- 1:58nothing to do with you, and you're just like, well, I think
- 2:01you did XY and Z and I think this was wrong and I think this
- 2:04was this and this and this. And you think you're doing
- 2:07somebody a service by calling them out on it.
- 2:11The question you have to ask yourself is, is this for you
- 2:16that you're doing this or is this for the other person that
- 2:20you're doing this? And often times it's for
- 2:22yourself because you feel like you have moral high ground or
- 2:27you feel like you have value to share.
- 2:31But if that other person didn't ask you for it, and that other
- 2:33person didn't intend to have that information nor want it and
- 2:41ask for it, you're putting yourself into a position where
- 2:46you look foolish. Let's just come right down to
- 2:48it. And all of this, all of this
- 2:52comes down to one big circle of where do all these things start?
- 2:57And these things start behind the scenes where two people may
- 3:03be talking about somebody and two people may be sharing their
- 3:06like, wow, I had no idea. Or, and this is this is common,
- 3:11this is human communication. Humans do this all the time.
- 3:14My husband and I will sit and discuss things, but I know when
- 3:17I discuss something with my husband, I don't have the
- 3:19worries about him going on social media or going out and
- 3:22making phone calls and saying things to people.
- 3:25I know when I discuss things with my coach, I don't have to
- 3:27worry about him running off and talking to anybody about it.
- 3:31I don't talk about things that I don't want other people to know.
- 3:35And if your mother never gave you that advice, or your
- 3:38grandmother or somebody in your life never gave you that advice,
- 3:42let's let me be the person that share it with you now.
- 3:44Don't talk about people behind somebody's back.
- 3:49If you don't want things to get out there and you don't want
- 3:52people to know, don't stir the pot.
- 3:55Don't be a little shit shit stirrer out there who's stirring
- 3:59the pot all up, then making it for other people to be enraged
- 4:06and going out there and having conversation and talking.
- 4:11Especially when it comes back to talking directly to a person
- 4:13about it. Every time that you decide to go
- 4:17out there and do that and talk about somebody behind their
- 4:20back, you run the risk of it getting back to them.
- 4:23Whether you think it's OK or not.
- 4:25They're still going to find a way to get back to you.
- 4:28I promise you. It always does.
- 4:29I learned that very early in my life, about fourth grade.
- 4:33My mother said it to me and I didn't necessarily think a big
- 4:38deal of it. I still remember the incident.
- 4:40I still remember the class I was in, Mr. Gorab and Oh my God.
- 4:45And I talked about my friend and to another friend and it was the
- 4:50worst thing. And I hurt her feelings.
- 4:52And I learned the lesson very early on, and I was always very
- 4:56careful about it. And later in life, I did one
- 5:01thing again and it came back again.
- 5:03I didn't think it would be a big deal, but it was two times.
- 5:06There won't be a third ever in my life, I can assure you of
- 5:09that. But I will say this.
- 5:12It is incredibly important to realize that the good opinion of
- 5:16other people is not something that you're in charge of.
- 5:20You are not the boss of the good opinion of other people, and you
- 5:23cannot, you cannot rein people in.
- 5:26They will have their opinions. They will say things.
- 5:28They will do things. Don't be one who's partaking in
- 5:31it. Don't allow yourself to get
- 5:34caught up in it. Don't put yourself in to the
- 5:37position of judging other people when you don't know what made
- 5:41somebody made the decisions they make.
- 5:43You don't understand how they came to the conclusions they
- 5:46came to. You don't know.
- 5:48You haven't walked a mile in their shoes, so to speak.
- 5:51So to wrap this up, and to put it all in a nice, neat nutshell,
- 5:56we mind our own business. We try not to talk about other
- 5:59people, especially in a way. If we're not adding to the value
- 6:03of helping them, then we should be quiet about it.
- 6:07We can have our opinion, but we should not be talking about
- 6:10other people. And we certainly should never
- 6:12jump out and judge another person when we have not had
- 6:15their experience, have not lived in their house, have not gone
- 6:18through what they're going through, have not stepped into
- 6:21their shoes. It is a dangerous, dangerous
- 6:23place to go, my friend, and it breaks families up.
- 6:26So watch it, Be careful of it. And through this holiday season
- 6:30where we'll all be with people, it's time to just sit there and
- 6:34take it all in and say this is interesting and let it all go
- 6:39because it doesn't affect you one bit in your internal
- 6:43ecosystem. And remember that, don't let it
- 6:45in. All right, my friends, I hope
- 6:47you have a wonderful day and remember the good opinion of
- 6:50other people. Doesn't matter.
- 6:52You don't need it. Stay out of it.
- 6:54I hope you have a blessed day. See you tomorrow.
- 6:56Bye.
