- 0:36Here's the upgrade. You may never see how far your
- 0:39good goes, but upgraded thinking knows that one small yes can
- 0:42continue your story long after you're gone.
- 0:46Here's the story. In Kentucky, a baby named
- 0:50Brooklyn was born with a rare liver condition.
- 0:53She was months old when the doctors ran out of options.
- 0:56They told her mother to call the Funeral Home and make
- 0:58arrangements. The doctors give her three days
- 1:00to live in Ohio. A 10 year old boy named Michael
- 1:05had already made-up his mind about something most grown men
- 1:07avoid. He told his family he wanted to
- 1:09be an organ donor. He was the kind of kid who'd do
- 1:12anything for anybody. He taught his little brother to
- 1:14ride a bike, sat with him through surgeries.
- 1:17His family said he was an old soul, very mature for his age.
- 1:21Then Michael was hit by a car and killed.
- 1:24In the worst week of their lives, his parents honored his
- 1:26wish. His heart, his lungs, his
- 1:29kidneys, his eyes all went to strangers and his liver went to
- 1:33a dying baby girl in Kentucky named Brooklyn.
- 1:36She lived and is now 24. The two families stayed in
- 1:39touch. Brooklyn grew up knowing
- 1:41Michael's little brother Noah. Childhood friends.
- 1:45Then they were Facetiming each other 8 hours a day and it
- 1:48became more than a friendship. Noah proposed last Christmas to
- 1:52Brooklyn and next month, on September 26th, Brooklyn walks
- 1:57down the aisle to marry the brother of the boy whose liver
- 2:00saved her life. Noah said.
- 2:02I had no idea my brother was going to save my wife's life. 20
- 2:06years later, Michael never saw any of this.
- 2:10He said his one yes and then he was gone.
- 2:12But that yes is still moving and part of the making of a
- 2:16marriage. The better story to tell
- 2:18yourself is my yes doesn't need to see the result.
- 2:23You will not see most of where your good lands.
- 2:26That's not a reason to hold it back.
- 2:28That's the reason to give it now.
- 2:30By the way, another person who will be in attendance will be
- 2:33the man who received Michael's heart.
- 2:37Tell me a story of a small yes that changed the life to from
- 2:40chadsmith@gmail.com. Send someone a text and ask them
- 2:45are you an organ donor?
