Teen Rescued by Helicopter in Red River Gorge | Lexington News
An 18-year-old camper stranded in the remote Red River Gorge at Hanson’s Point needed a helicopter rescue after medical trouble struck Tuesday night. With terrain too rugged for a land extraction, Wolfe County Search & Rescue coordinated with HART and Powell County teams to hike in and assess. Kentucky State Police Aviation Unit then deployed a paramedic specialist via hoist to confirm the plan — and lifted the camper safely into the chopper by 1:30 AM Wednesday.
