- 1:55Speaker 5: specifically about the chicken Wing meeting contest.

- 2:00Speaker 3: I'm not entering, by the way.

- 2:09Speaker 5: Pet of the Week picture posted over on dave aland
- 2:12Speaker 5: Radio on Facebook and also the w CCHS network Facebook
- 2:16Speaker 5: page and at dave A seventy on x Start but
- 2:19Speaker 5: talking little high school football. Tonight's w CCHS is Chris
- 2:23Speaker 5: Lawrence and Aaron Parker. We'll have covered to the Battle
- 2:26Speaker 5: of the Bridge, Crawford Field to Saint Albans will take
- 2:29Speaker 5: on Nitro.
- 2:30Speaker 3: How you doing, I'm.
- 2:31Speaker 6: Good, doing well, sir, I'm my sympathy is on the
- 2:34Speaker 6: game last night for you.
- 2:35Speaker 3: I'm both sure that was rough and thank you for
- 2:38Speaker 3: you know, bringing that up.
- 2:40Speaker 5: I just thought I would do that well, you know,
- 2:42Speaker 5: lightning delay, So I was late getting to the game.
- 2:45Speaker 5: I listened to the first half of the game on
- 2:48Speaker 5: w CCHS. I was driving back from Logan County last
- 2:52Speaker 5: night for the Hall of Fame dinner. H and then
- 2:54Speaker 5: I get home and it's a it's a it's a
- 2:57Speaker 5: one hour lightning delay. And so that was that. That's
- 3:00Speaker 5: always fun when you get up early, as you well know,
- 3:02Speaker 5: and you stay up until twelve thirty. I'm not as
- 3:04Speaker 5: young as I never was, that's for sure.
- 3:06Speaker 6: Yeah, I can't do that anymore, even when Tennessee's playing
- 3:09Speaker 6: on a weeknight, I can't. And I just wait and
- 3:11Speaker 6: get the score in the morning. That's what I have
- 3:13Speaker 6: to do. Tonight, thought, we've got the Battle of the Bridge,
- 3:16Speaker 6: as you mentioned, and it's been a while since that
- 3:19Speaker 6: traveling trophy has been on the Saint Albans side of
- 3:21Speaker 6: the river. They'd certainly like to reverse that tonight, but
- 3:24Speaker 6: it will be a tall order for the Red Dragons
- 3:27Speaker 6: if they wish to do that. Nitro's got a stack team.
- 3:29Speaker 6: They're pretty good this year. They've got quite an offense,
- 3:32Speaker 6: and he continues to be a bit of a struggle
- 3:36Speaker 6: for Saint Albans, except for the fact that their best
- 3:39Speaker 6: running back was out of the game last week. He
- 3:41Speaker 6: will be back this week, so that will be a
- 3:44Speaker 6: plus for the Red Dragons. They're playing at home tonight,
- 3:46Speaker 6: and it's their home opener, so I'm sorry it's not
- 3:50Speaker 6: their home opener, but they are playing at home tonight,
- 3:52Speaker 6: and so that one kicks off at seven thirty, and
- 3:55Speaker 6: we'll have a pregame coverage here on five EIGHTWCCHS at
- 3:58Speaker 6: seven o'clock tonight about the Systemville Indians. Next thing, I
- 4:02Speaker 6: was going to say congratulations to those guys beating Tulsa
- 4:05Speaker 6: twenty to nineteen and ending a twenty one game losing streak.
- 4:10Speaker 6: That's fantastic, it is.
- 4:12Speaker 3: I was going to bring that up. I was real
- 4:13Speaker 3: happy for those guys. Happy this morning.
- 4:15Speaker 5: And of course you know you got the Saint Albans
- 4:17Speaker 5: and that's always a great game though. I mean it's
- 4:20Speaker 5: it's always a great contest rivalry.
- 4:22Speaker 6: I can remember being at Crawford Field back in the
- 4:26Speaker 6: in the days and the year that Saint Albans, the
- 4:30Speaker 6: last year Saint Albans went to the state championship. They
- 4:34Speaker 6: played Nitro for the in the semi finals and I've
- 4:39Speaker 6: never seen anything quite that wild at Crawford Field.
- 4:44Speaker 3: That was a wild night. Yeah, that one, that that
- 4:46Speaker 3: one was played. You'll have carverage of course, what you
- 4:48Speaker 3: got on the Outdoor Show tomorrow.
- 4:50Speaker 6: We'll be live at Stonewall Resort for National Hunting and
- 4:52Speaker 6: Fishing Days. We'll be talking to diner and director Brett macmillion,
- 4:56Speaker 6: among others, including a guy who'ssisted a fish, Shionado was
- 5:00Speaker 6: squirrel dogs. So we'll be uh we'll be visiting with
- 5:03Speaker 6: him tomorrow morning on the show. And if you are,
- 5:06Speaker 6: if you got nothing else to do, and Dave, I
- 5:08Speaker 6: know you don't, you could you could come up to
- 5:10Speaker 6: uh Stonewall Resort tomorrow ten bucks, get you in the
- 5:13Speaker 6: gate and all kinds of things to do and see
- 5:16Speaker 6: in the outdoors, and in particular, if you've got children,
- 5:19Speaker 6: they can get involved in the Outdoor Youth Challenge and
- 5:21Speaker 6: learn learn a lot and participate and compete for prizes
- 5:25Speaker 6: in outdoor pursuits like shooting guns and fish identification and
- 5:30Speaker 6: stuff that I don't suspect that you would do well well,
- 5:33Speaker 6: but you could learn something.
- 5:34Speaker 3: Fish identification for me would be is it grilled?
- 5:37Speaker 7: Yes?
- 5:38Speaker 3: It is it from Long John Silver?
- 5:41Speaker 5: Yeah, you know, you know we have the food queen
- 5:42Speaker 5: of the Canal Valley here, Casey I do stor whether
- 5:44Speaker 5: it's Casey. You can come on any tell me if
- 5:46Speaker 5: you if you want to add to add to this conversation.
- 5:48Speaker 6: So that's they are. They're also having the Taste of
- 5:51Speaker 6: the State Parks tomorrow, so they will and that's kind
- 5:54Speaker 6: of a cool thing. All of the restaurants at the
- 5:56Speaker 6: State Parks, you know, they've all got a restaurant.
- 5:59Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, and all of them.
- 6:01Speaker 6: Will be there and you can go around and you
- 6:02Speaker 6: can take a ticket and get a sample of whatever
- 6:05Speaker 6: they're serving. And I did it last year and it
- 6:08Speaker 6: was it fills up. I almost got full before I
- 6:10Speaker 6: ate and a sampled everything. What was the best thing
- 6:12Speaker 6: that you had last year? I can't remember, but it uh, yeah,
- 6:16Speaker 6: I can't remember.
- 6:17Speaker 3: I liked it all.
- 6:18Speaker 6: There aren't many things that I don't like, right, so,
- 6:21Speaker 6: but I was just going around helping myself.
- 6:23Speaker 3: Casey, what do you think about getting mister Lawrence in
- 6:26Speaker 3: the chicken wing eating contest next week at Ripfist?
- 6:30Speaker 8: Would you like to?
- 6:31Speaker 6: I don't want to be in the contest, No, but
- 6:32Speaker 6: I would be glad to come over and eat some wings. Well,
- 6:35Speaker 6: I don't want to do it as a competition because
- 6:38Speaker 6: it's I can't enjoy them. Then, yeah, that's true, because
- 6:41Speaker 6: you're just like like blowing through. It's like the hot
- 6:42Speaker 6: dog eating contest and the fourth of July. Yeah, I
- 6:45Speaker 6: love hot dogs, but I can't eat like sixty of them. Okay,
- 6:48Speaker 6: that one's sitting in a not with that attitude.
- 6:50Speaker 8: You can't actually competed in that contest twice?
- 6:53Speaker 3: Did you yes, I did. Congratulations, how'd you do?
- 6:56Speaker 8: I raked in the middle, ranked in the middle. Now
- 6:59Speaker 8: last July the girl best out of me was throwing
- 7:02Speaker 8: up in a bucket. Yeah, it's a little bit of
- 7:04Speaker 8: a distraction.
- 7:05Speaker 6: So it's I guess it's the mind of a matter
- 7:07Speaker 6: if you go into it without a competitive attitude and
- 7:09Speaker 6: look at it just like here's an opportunity for some
- 7:12Speaker 6: free food and then just enjoy yourself. And I guess
- 7:15Speaker 6: that you could pull that off that way.
- 7:17Speaker 4: I can.
- 7:18Speaker 3: I guess it's all about your attitude.
- 7:20Speaker 5: I got it all right. Chris will be listening tonight
- 7:22Speaker 5: and tomorrow. I have fun Stone Baltimore. I appreciate it.
- 7:25Speaker 6: Y'all have a great weekend, all right, mister Bragg, Hello,
- 7:28Speaker 6: you got Herbert Hoover.
- 7:29Speaker 5: That's true to night talk about your game. You know,
- 7:31Speaker 5: I got a I came in a little bummed. Chris
- 7:33Speaker 5: was talking about that O six Nitro Saint Alban's game.
- 7:36Speaker 5: I'm a Nitro guy at heart where I went to school.
- 7:39Speaker 5: That was a downer, but then I remembered the caw
- 7:40Speaker 5: the Cowboys game went last night. That one brought me
- 7:42Speaker 5: back here. We got me ready to go. I had
- 7:44Speaker 5: to get my shot into. But no, Herbert Hoover. It's
- 7:47Speaker 5: going to be a fantastic game tonight, Big one too.
- 7:50Speaker 5: Kind of a budding rivalry, certainly since in the twenty
- 7:55Speaker 5: twenties Winfield hosting Herbert Hoover. It's the team teams that
- 7:58Speaker 5: have played leave. This will be their seventh meeting this decade.
- 8:01Speaker 5: One of those was a playoff game down at Winfield,
- 8:03Speaker 5: who we won by one point. I believe I was
- 8:06Speaker 5: twenty twenty two, but in twenty twenty five. Husky's coming
- 8:09Speaker 5: in oh to one and maybe licking the wounds a
- 8:11Speaker 5: little bit after losing a close game thirty seven to
- 8:14Speaker 5: thirty four at a very good Independence team last week.
- 8:17Speaker 5: But it wasn't what we've known at or what we've
- 8:20Speaker 5: come to expect out of Hoover the last few years.
- 8:21Speaker 5: Things were a little bit sloppy up front along the
- 8:23Speaker 5: offensive line, and that kind of is where a lot
- 8:25Speaker 5: of the problems stemmed. Their quarterback was sacked eight times,
- 8:28Speaker 5: running for his life all night, fumbled through a couple
- 8:31Speaker 5: of interceptions. Young kid, he was pressured, made made some
- 8:34Speaker 5: mistakes and that's something the Huskies are going to have
- 8:36Speaker 5: to clean up because it's another tough test at Winfield tonight.
- 8:39Speaker 5: It's Winfield team won to Oh. They kind of pounded
- 8:42Speaker 5: on Lincoln County last week, and unfortunately, if you're a
- 8:44Speaker 5: Panthers fan, that's probably gonna happen a few times this season.
- 8:48Speaker 5: So not sure exactly what how much stock to put
- 8:51Speaker 5: into what Winfield did against Lincoln County last week, But
- 8:54Speaker 5: you look at the stats and it's same old Winfield man.
- 8:56Speaker 5: They like to run the ball. They've got seven or
- 8:58Speaker 5: eight guys that they will get the ball to, and
- 9:00Speaker 5: they've got a couple of receivers who can pop big
- 9:01Speaker 5: plays too. So expect a good one tonight down in Winfield.
- 9:04Speaker 5: All right, we'll be listening to you and Murphy and
- 9:06Speaker 5: got the game tonight, Me and Murphy tonight and then
- 9:08Speaker 5: Daniel Wood tonight tomorrow. West Virginia State on the Beat
- 9:11Speaker 5: home opener, home opener in college. They are at noon tomorrow.
- 9:14Speaker 5: Where is Barton College? Barton College is in North Carolina,
- 9:16Speaker 5: North Carolina. All right, and a coverage on the Beat
- 9:19Speaker 5: is good. We're your home for West Virginia State to
- 9:21Speaker 5: football all season long. You and Daniel will have all
- 9:23Speaker 5: the play by play starting around noon time tomorrow and
- 9:25Speaker 5: one of seven three to beat.
- 9:26Speaker 3: We'll be listening. That's correct.
- 9:27Speaker 5: Thanks for having us on day all right, I talked
- 9:28Speaker 5: to you next week, yep, Tom Tom Bragg of course.
- 9:31Speaker 5: And of course it's Hoover and Winfield tonight. You can
- 9:33Speaker 5: catch that on Superstar Country ninety six one KWS. Angie
- 9:36Speaker 5: Gill and Water from the Cannelge Charleston Yu Maine Association
- 9:38Speaker 5: is here with this week's Adopt Me Please Pet the Week, Angie,
- 9:41Speaker 5: good morning, welcome.
- 9:42Speaker 3: To the show.
- 9:43Speaker 5: Good morning, and I've also got with me Casey Foster,
- 9:47Speaker 5: who is going to be m scene the chicken wing
- 9:49Speaker 5: eating contest next week at Ribfest, and she's a big fan.
- 9:54Speaker 5: She was telling me in the green room there of
- 9:57Speaker 5: shelter pets and things of that nature. So Casey meet Angie.
- 10:00Speaker 5: Angie meet Casey.
- 10:01Speaker 8: Very nice to meet Angie.
- 10:03Speaker 9: Nice to meet you, Casey. I love to hear a
- 10:06Speaker 9: shelter pet enthusiast.
- 10:08Speaker 5: Well, So we do this every week, you know, we
- 10:11Speaker 5: put a try to get a different pet adopted, and
- 10:13Speaker 5: as always we post a picture Dave Allen Radio on
- 10:17Speaker 5: Facebook and also the WHS network Facebook page and at
- 10:20Speaker 5: Dave A seventy on x Skipworth is the pet's name.
- 10:25Speaker 5: And I had to ask Ryan earlier because Ryan is
- 10:27Speaker 5: my go to on some of these names, and Ryan,
- 10:29Speaker 5: I don't think, had an answer for Skipworth. So tell
- 10:31Speaker 5: us about the name Skipworth.
- 10:34Speaker 9: So actually that is one that I named. And on
- 10:38Speaker 9: my trip to Richmond, Virginia a couple of weeks ago,
- 10:40Speaker 9: I saw a road called Skippedwith Road and I was like,
- 10:44Speaker 9: that's actually a very cute name.
- 10:45Speaker 7: We're using that skip with skip with yep uh.
- 10:50Speaker 9: The simple is that I saw Rhoades sign and.
- 10:52Speaker 3: Was like, perfect, all right, tell us the story of Skipworth.
- 10:56Speaker 9: So he's actually from a hoarding situation Kenall County where
- 11:01Speaker 9: they're about thirty to forty cats that are needing our help.
- 11:04Speaker 9: There's nobody there to take care of them anymore, so
- 11:07Speaker 9: we've been bringing them in in small groups and he
- 11:11Speaker 9: is one of them. We've gotten almost all of them neutered,
- 11:14Speaker 9: up to date on vaccines. But he is currently living
- 11:18Speaker 9: at the pet Co pent houses and his new Southridge
- 11:22Speaker 9: pet Co pent houses. I want to clarify, but he
- 11:26Speaker 9: is a little weary of his new environment. It's not
- 11:29Speaker 9: the house he's lived in for three to four years,
- 11:31Speaker 9: so he is very shy, but he is such a
- 11:35Speaker 9: sweet cat. He's one of those that you have to
- 11:37Speaker 9: go to him to get his attention or else he's
- 11:39Speaker 9: going to hide. But he loves to get pets. He's
- 11:42Speaker 9: a very, very very sweet cat, despite you know, being
- 11:45Speaker 9: curled up and hiding. I don't want his body language
- 11:49Speaker 9: to turn anyone away from adopting him.
- 11:52Speaker 3: He's a beautiful cat.
- 11:53Speaker 5: And again, I've got the picture posted on Dave Island
- 11:55Speaker 5: Radio on Facebook and at Dave A seventy on X
- 11:57Speaker 5: and also the WCCHS network Facebook page.
- 12:00Speaker 3: It looks like he does have something going on with
- 12:01Speaker 3: his ear.
- 12:03Speaker 9: Yes, so a lot of the cats from that house
- 12:06Speaker 9: have that that specific ear. It almost looks like a
- 12:10Speaker 9: folded down book page. But Arve is pretty confident that
- 12:15Speaker 9: those are old hematomas that have healed and they shouldn't
- 12:18Speaker 9: cause any issues in the future medically. It's just an
- 12:23Speaker 9: aesthetic thing at this point. He just has a little
- 12:25Speaker 9: folded down here.
- 12:27Speaker 5: You want to know what a small world it is,
- 12:28Speaker 5: Angie and Casey, I just got a text from Marrily
- 12:31Speaker 5: mccalliffe from a WWK TV thirteen. She lived off that
- 12:36Speaker 5: road that you're referring to.
- 12:38Speaker 3: Oh, really, it's small world, very fall.
- 12:44Speaker 8: It's West Virginia.
- 12:45Speaker 3: Well, well now it's Virginia.
- 12:47Speaker 5: It's on the way, it's Virginia. It's Virginia. Today is
- 12:50Speaker 5: International Charity Day. I saw this post it on your
- 12:52Speaker 5: Facebook page. Angiine you're wanting people to show off their
- 12:55Speaker 5: adopted pets on your social media.
- 12:58Speaker 9: Yes. Absolutely. We love of getting updates on you know,
- 13:01Speaker 9: casey Cha alumni that have left the building. That's one
- 13:04Speaker 9: of our favorite things as far as the social media girls,
- 13:08Speaker 9: because we screenshaw everyone's posts and send it to our
- 13:11Speaker 9: employee group chat. And when I tell you, everybody in
- 13:14Speaker 9: the chat will just melt.
- 13:16Speaker 2: I mean.
- 13:18Speaker 3: We had a text to the show.
- 13:20Speaker 5: By the way, I do need to mention with Dave
- 13:21Speaker 5: Allen showing five eighty Live is brought to you parted
- 13:23Speaker 5: by Morgan to Morgan, America's largest injury law firm.
- 13:26Speaker 3: I didn't have a text of the show.
- 13:27Speaker 5: Somebody said, are there any updates on Sissy who was
- 13:30Speaker 5: hit by a car and Jacks who was returned and
- 13:33Speaker 5: suffering depression and the innocent kitten that was slammed onto
- 13:37Speaker 5: the floor in Saint Albans. We actually some way texted
- 13:40Speaker 5: the show yesterday about that kitten situation in Saint Albans.
- 13:43Speaker 5: But are you aware of Sissy who was hit by
- 13:46Speaker 5: a car?
- 13:47Speaker 9: Yes, I do have updates on all three.
- 13:49Speaker 3: Okay, guys, you go ahead and get it and you
- 13:52Speaker 3: you and Casey talk. I'm gonna leave go ahead.
- 13:55Speaker 9: So Sissy. Cissy is one of our staff members. Actually
- 14:00Speaker 9: took her to the veterinarian this morning that was going
- 14:03Speaker 9: to help us out, doctor Stevenson. So she is at
- 14:06Speaker 9: their vet clinic right now. I don't have any updates
- 14:09Speaker 9: as far as if they've started her surgery or not,
- 14:12Speaker 9: but I do know that she made it there. And
- 14:15Speaker 9: you know I can text with updates so you can update,
- 14:18Speaker 9: and I'm sure our Facebook page will update later on
- 14:21Speaker 9: throughout the day. Jack's actually went to a foster home yesterday.
- 14:26Speaker 9: They brought their dogs up to hang out and play
- 14:28Speaker 9: with him. They did beautifully, So he is hanging out
- 14:32Speaker 9: in foster until he gets adopted. And then the last
- 14:36Speaker 9: one was the kitten from Saint Albans. Again, the kitten
- 14:39Speaker 9: is where. It's an ongoing cruelty investigation. I can't share
- 14:42Speaker 9: too many details, but I can say the kitten is
- 14:45Speaker 9: doing well. It is stable and it's actually, you know,
- 14:49Speaker 9: starting to walk again, and it's it's just doing much
- 14:53Speaker 9: better than we initially anticipated when it first came in.
- 14:57Speaker 5: All right, that's that's good to hear. And I know
- 14:59Speaker 5: that you can't we talked to a little bit last week.
- 15:00Speaker 5: There's a lot because this is an ongoing investigation, so
- 15:03Speaker 5: there's not a lot you can say other than that,
- 15:04Speaker 5: So we appreciate the update.
- 15:05Speaker 3: What kind of supplies are you in need of the.
- 15:08Speaker 9: Biggest things right now are wet and dry dog food.
- 15:13Speaker 9: Wet food, we're not picky. Dry we use curing a
- 15:15Speaker 9: dog chowl down, dishwashing liquid and then oddly enough again
- 15:21Speaker 9: volunteers to help us get through daily operation.

- 17:16Speaker 5: so it's very skittish. Does have and you'll see the
- 17:19Speaker 5: picture if you go over to my Facebook pager, my
- 17:21Speaker 5: X page, you'll see that he does have a bit
- 17:24Speaker 5: of a hem atoma, but they say that it should heal. Okay,
- 17:27Speaker 5: it's not causing him any problems or anything. And this
- 17:30Speaker 5: was a pretty bad situation, so obviously he's still a
- 17:33Speaker 5: little bit skittish. He you got to go to him
- 17:36Speaker 5: as opposed to him coming to you, which that's true
- 17:38Speaker 5: with a lot of cats, to be honest with you,

- 20:28Speaker 5: We'll talked to Joe Stevens from Nitro coming up a
- 20:30Speaker 5: little bit later on about the Boomtown Days that are
- 20:33Speaker 5: happening tomorrow. Next week, Ribfest is going to be happening
- 20:36Speaker 5: in Marmette and as part of that, we have some
- 20:38Speaker 5: eating contest going on. Casey Foster, is it fair to
- 20:41Speaker 5: call you the food Queen of the Kanaal Valley?
- 20:43Speaker 3: Do you like that or do you know?
- 20:44Speaker 5: Hey, I'll take it all right, All right, there's no
- 20:46Speaker 5: sash or anything involved with that. But so talk about
- 20:53Speaker 5: how how you first got involved in all this stuff
- 20:56Speaker 5: in ripest? Yeah, well, just the whole food thing in general.
- 21:00Speaker 8: Oh boy, Okay, when we're talking about fifteen years ago,
- 21:04Speaker 8: I worked at the Charleston gazet Mel and one of
- 21:08Speaker 8: my responsibilities was traveling tourism advertising, and so I would
- 21:13Speaker 8: travel around the state. I'd work with the CVBS showcase
- 21:16Speaker 8: restaurants and businesses in their areas. I would do dining pages,
- 21:21Speaker 8: and for National hot Dog Month, I would go around
- 21:25Speaker 8: the state and I would you eat all these places
- 21:29Speaker 8: that sold hot dogs. I would do two pages just
- 21:33Speaker 8: full of restaurants. I'd have a little map on there,
- 21:37Speaker 8: and I would eat hot dogs at all these places
- 21:40Speaker 8: and rank them. And my record was sixty eight hot
- 21:44Speaker 8: dogs in a month. I wouldn't recommend that. I had
- 21:47Speaker 8: my gobladder removed, but they nicknamed me the hot Dog
- 21:51Speaker 8: Queen and it stuck. And I did that every single year.
- 21:56Speaker 8: And so that's actually how I got my foot in
- 21:59Speaker 8: the door. Started you know, doing stories on different kind
- 22:04Speaker 8: of you know, restaurant histories, food histories, local food histories.
- 22:10Speaker 8: And then I started competing, and I've competed in several contests.
- 22:15Speaker 8: Then I started organizing. I've been judging. Actually, the Bridge
- 22:21Speaker 8: Day Chili Cookoff is coming up next month and I'll
- 22:25Speaker 8: be back for the sixth year to judge that and
- 22:27Speaker 8: it's really fun. So yeah, I mean I probably have
- 22:31Speaker 8: about fifteen to twenty events under my belt.
- 22:35Speaker 3: So what is it that you enjoy so much about
- 22:37Speaker 3: I mean, other than the food, it's not just that.
- 22:39Speaker 3: I mean, but because you can sit sit in your
- 22:41Speaker 3: house and eat the food. What is it that you
- 22:43Speaker 3: enjoy about this?
- 22:44Speaker 8: I love socializing, work with a community, meeting new people.
- 22:49Speaker 8: And I'm competitive too. Who doesn't like to win, right,
- 22:53Speaker 8: And you know there's always fun prizes and so forth.
- 22:56Speaker 8: But I like to just you know, be a little
- 22:59Speaker 8: bit different, you know, get out of the comfort zone.
- 23:02Speaker 8: And especially as a woman, so you know, in a
- 23:05Speaker 8: lot of these contests, I've been the only woman to
- 23:08Speaker 8: compete and I like to represent well.
- 23:11Speaker 3: And that's one thing that we wanted to talk about
- 23:14Speaker 3: with this with this winging, because first of all, when
- 23:16Speaker 3: is it going to be?
- 23:17Speaker 8: Okay? It is going to be Sunday, next Sunday, next Sunday,
- 23:21Speaker 8: the fourteenth, Okay, okay. And what we're doing is I'm
- 23:26Speaker 8: asking everyone who registers, you must register to be there
- 23:30Speaker 8: at one thirty.
- 23:30Speaker 3: I'll go over the rules and exactly where is it.
- 23:33Speaker 8: Okay, it's going to be at the Ben Morse Ball
- 23:36Speaker 8: field in more mets. Okay, okay, so we'll have a
- 23:39Speaker 8: stage set up and uh so everybody will get there
- 23:43Speaker 8: at one thirty. I'll go for the rules from regulations.
- 23:45Speaker 8: We're going to have two separate contests. First up are
- 23:48Speaker 8: the women. Okay, Now, I do have a couple spots
- 23:52Speaker 8: left for females and women. You just compete against each other.
- 23:57Speaker 8: You're going to have ten minutes to eat as many
- 24:00Speaker 8: wings as you can, so you know, they'll have a
- 24:04Speaker 8: plate of ten wings. After you finish that, you go
- 24:06Speaker 8: on to the next plate. You got ten minutes to
- 24:09Speaker 8: do it. You have to eat all the meat off
- 24:10Speaker 8: the bone, and of course you can't throw up or
- 24:13Speaker 8: you're going to be disqualified.
- 24:15Speaker 3: So you're disqualified for throwing up. Yes, that see.
- 24:17Speaker 5: And I've told this story on the air before you
- 24:20Speaker 5: see these contests Casey on TV. You know the Nathan's
- 24:23Speaker 5: hot dog eating contests and so on.
- 24:25Speaker 3: I can I can do that.
- 24:27Speaker 5: The first time I was ever I've never entered a competition,
- 24:29Speaker 5: but I was asked to m see a hot dog
- 24:31Speaker 5: eating competition.
- 24:32Speaker 3: This was probably twenty years or so ago.
- 24:35Speaker 5: And and for you're eating breakfast right now, I apologize,
- 24:38Speaker 5: but you've heard this story before, if people listen to
- 24:40Speaker 5: me for a while. So I'm up on stage at
- 24:43Speaker 5: this fair and I am, you know, M seeing this competition.
- 24:47Speaker 5: And these the folks that you see at the Nathan's Contest,
- 24:49Speaker 5: these are professionals.
- 24:50Speaker 3: This is what they do. I was not prepared because every.
- 24:54Speaker 5: Everybody thinks, oh, I can I've eaten, you know, hot
- 24:58Speaker 5: dogs at the at the Free Will Baptist I can
- 25:00Speaker 5: throw down some dogs. No, it's a little bit different thing.
- 25:04Speaker 5: And the first time, if you remember the movie, the
- 25:06Speaker 5: iconic movie Stand by Me, the famous bar Forarama, that's
- 25:12Speaker 5: what we had on stage at the Logan Memorial Fieldhouse
- 25:15Speaker 5: or Arts and Crafts Fair.
- 25:16Speaker 3: Maybe that's why they don't do the Arts and Crafts
- 25:18Speaker 3: Fair anymore. I don't know. But one guy started it,
- 25:22Speaker 3: and then there was at least two or three more afterwards.
- 25:24Speaker 7: And I.
- 25:26Speaker 5: Don't have a particularly weak stomach. But that's one thing
- 25:30Speaker 5: that's probably a good thing I've ever had kids, because
- 25:32Speaker 5: that's one thing I cannot deal with, is that. And
- 25:34Speaker 5: when one person started, the second person and I say
- 25:37Speaker 5: that to say this, it's a good thing that.
- 25:39Speaker 3: You are, you know, telling people ahead of time. If
- 25:41Speaker 3: you think you're gonna throw up, you're done.
- 25:44Speaker 8: Usually there are buckets provided and they're by your feet. Okay,
- 25:48Speaker 8: And my recommendation is, if you ever, you know, compete
- 25:52Speaker 8: in an eating contest, don't look down, because I tell
- 25:57Speaker 8: you what the last hot dog eating contest that I
- 25:59Speaker 8: was in, and I'll look down, the girl beside of
- 26:02Speaker 8: me had already filled up that bucket.
- 26:05Speaker 3: Oh good, this is nice. This is this show has
- 26:08Speaker 3: gone off the rails.
- 26:09Speaker 8: But anyway, anyway, so that that's not every single circumstance,
- 26:15Speaker 8: you know, not that many people as long as you
- 26:18Speaker 8: don't look in the buckets, they do not throw up.
- 26:22Speaker 8: Maybe one or two here and there. And so you know,
- 26:26Speaker 8: I actually, you know, I advise people because you know,
- 26:29Speaker 8: I've competed in so many contests, and I've tried different methods,
- 26:32Speaker 8: and you know, I watch videos, you know, watch TV.
- 26:35Speaker 8: You know different I probably tried every single method for
- 26:41Speaker 8: competitive hot dog eating that is known to mankind.
- 26:46Speaker 5: But because there's different way, and I know we're talking
- 26:47Speaker 5: about wings, I actually have a question for you about
- 26:49Speaker 5: the wing any kind of But but you see them
- 26:51Speaker 5: on TV. You know that they will dip them in
- 26:53Speaker 5: water and that how did you do because you competed
- 26:55Speaker 5: in the competition the hot dog any kind, you've done
- 26:57Speaker 5: it in the past.
- 26:58Speaker 3: What's your method when it comes to hot dog?
- 27:00Speaker 8: Okay, okay, Well I've tried different methods because I've done
- 27:03Speaker 8: multiple hot dog eating concoasts. So what I would the
- 27:09Speaker 8: first time, Okay, I came up with my own kind
- 27:12Speaker 8: of blended method. There's the kobashi method, and that is
- 27:16Speaker 8: where you actually break apart of wiener. You put both
- 27:21Speaker 8: pieces of the winterer in your mouth and then you
- 27:23Speaker 8: break apart the bun. Okay, You're gonna dip the butt
- 27:25Speaker 8: in water because that moistens it and makes it more palatable,
- 27:29Speaker 8: so you can just like, you know, go ahead and
- 27:31Speaker 8: scarf it down. You don't want to try to eat
- 27:33Speaker 8: a dry bun because you're going to choke.
- 27:35Speaker 3: Okay, Okay.
- 27:37Speaker 8: The bad thing about that is it tastes bad when
- 27:41Speaker 8: you dip that bun in water. It's horrible. So what
- 27:45Speaker 8: I did was I looked at other competitors and some
- 27:47Speaker 8: of them used coca cola, So I blended kobyashi with
- 27:52Speaker 8: coca cola. Okay, coca cola. It sweetens the taste of
- 27:57Speaker 8: the bread, so it's more palatable for one thing, Okay,
- 28:01Speaker 8: it also and it's it might sound disgusting, it makes
- 28:03Speaker 8: you burn, but when you belch, okay, you're releasing that
- 28:07Speaker 8: air and you're making more room in your stomach for
- 28:11Speaker 8: more food. Okay. So I was like, okay, I got this.
- 28:15Speaker 8: I went to tutors and you know, Weenie Wednesday, I
- 28:19Speaker 8: was I was practicing at home. You know, there was
- 28:21Speaker 8: a couple of times where I'd coughin like, you know,
- 28:23Speaker 8: like wieners were flying out of my mouth. My my
- 28:29Speaker 8: poor cat Bella. You know, she was watching me. She
- 28:32Speaker 8: was the audience, and she got hit more times than
- 28:34Speaker 8: I'd like to mention. But when I actually got up
- 28:38Speaker 8: on the stage, because sometimes it's good in your head,
- 28:41Speaker 8: it sounds like a good idea, when you're out there,
- 28:44Speaker 8: not so good. So I, you know, I am scarfing down.
- 28:48Speaker 8: I had five cans of Coca cola. There, I'm down
- 28:51Speaker 8: in that coke and you know, tearing up the buns
- 28:54Speaker 8: and everything. And I meant, there's coke dripping down my face.
- 28:59Speaker 8: The mayor up and she's telling me I'm doing a
- 29:01Speaker 8: good job, and I just burped right there.
- 29:03Speaker 3: That's nice. Ryan.
- 29:06Speaker 5: If you can't get a promo out of this, then
- 29:08Speaker 5: then you're not worth your way as a producer. All right,
- 29:11Speaker 5: let me let me get back to the chicken wings,
- 29:14Speaker 5: well of a cup, because we got questions that they
- 29:16Speaker 5: want to talk to you. All right, but okay, hold
- 29:18Speaker 5: on this one though, is about your method with the coke.
- 29:22Speaker 5: Doesn't the acid in coke dissolve some of the bund.
- 29:24Speaker 3: That seems like a form of cheating just saying this,
- 29:26Speaker 3: says a texture.
- 29:28Speaker 8: I didn't make the rules. Yes, it's uh, you know, basically,
- 29:33Speaker 8: anything that you do with the liquid, it just turns
- 29:36Speaker 8: it into a ball of mush. And when you're in
- 29:39Speaker 8: a competition, you're just trying to shovel it in. So
- 29:41Speaker 8: you know, I'm really not like savoring the taste or
- 29:44Speaker 8: noticing how acidic things are. It just tastes sweeter and
- 29:47Speaker 8: I can get it down, all right.
- 29:49Speaker 5: Let me get back to the chicken wings. Are the
- 29:50Speaker 5: wings hot or spicy? Says a texture or just plain
- 29:53Speaker 5: or mild?
- 29:54Speaker 3: Also? Are they breaded or just sauce covered?
- 29:57Speaker 8: Okay? They are naked?
- 29:58Speaker 3: Okay, So there's I would say would be the best
- 30:01Speaker 3: way to do it would just be And by naked wings,
- 30:03Speaker 3: we mean just playing.
- 30:04Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 30:04Speaker 8: Yeah, but you know there is an option if you
- 30:07Speaker 8: want to bring your own sauces and the you know,
- 30:09Speaker 8: like put sauce on them. I don't recommend it because
- 30:12Speaker 8: that takes up time.
- 30:13Speaker 3: Yeah, okay, all right.
- 30:15Speaker 6: Uh.
- 30:15Speaker 3: The next question was are the wings a mix of
- 30:18Speaker 3: drummis and flats or just one drummers and flats? Okay,
- 30:22Speaker 3: so it's kind of a mixture.
- 30:23Speaker 8: It's a mix.
- 30:24Speaker 3: Can a competitor come in and say I want nothing?
- 30:27Speaker 3: But I would think that would be cheating to say,
- 30:29Speaker 3: so you're going to get a mix.
- 30:30Speaker 8: You're going to get a mix, is it now?
- 30:31Speaker 3: Is it going to be an equitable mixed?
- 30:33Speaker 2: So?
- 30:33Speaker 3: For example, and how many are you eating?
- 30:35Speaker 6: Again?
- 30:35Speaker 3: How many?
- 30:35Speaker 2: Asked? Eat?
- 30:36Speaker 8: Okay, well the winner is you know what?
- 30:41Speaker 5: Okay, I guess the question I was asking? How does
- 30:43Speaker 5: it start out? You start off with like one or
- 30:46Speaker 5: I mean, okay.
- 30:46Speaker 8: What they'll do is they'll bring you out a plate.
- 30:49Speaker 8: There's a there's a plate for each person has ten
- 30:51Speaker 8: on it. Okay, and you know there'll be people standing
- 30:54Speaker 8: mind watching you eat that. As soon as you finish
- 30:56Speaker 8: that plate, you'll get another plate replenished, so you know
- 30:59Speaker 8: they'll put another I.
- 31:00Speaker 5: Guess my question is is that on that plate it's
- 31:02Speaker 5: going to be an equal number of flats and drummings
- 31:06Speaker 5: or you just don't know what you're getting to to dive.
- 31:08Speaker 8: In that it's a blend and the company that's doing

- 36:09Speaker 7: I was involved with the Golf Association doing some uplinks

- 36:18Speaker 7: And I've seen Michael walk walk the uh the fairways
- 36:23Speaker 7: of quite a few golf courses, quite a few state
- 36:25Speaker 7: opens and amateurs and that sort of thing. He can play,
- 36:29Speaker 7: he can it.
- 36:29Speaker 5: I thought you were going to hit me up about
- 36:30Speaker 5: the Cowboys last night, Joe, That's what I bet. But
- 36:32Speaker 5: you're also a Cowboys fan, you know.
- 36:35Speaker 7: I mean I enjoyed the first half and then the lightning,
- 36:40Speaker 7: you know, and then we'll go from there. But hey,
- 36:43Speaker 7: they I liked what I saw, to be honest with you,
- 36:46Speaker 7: I mean, Dylan Hurts can play. And well, let's talk Boomtown.
- 36:49Speaker 3: Let's talk about boom Tack. Casey Foster's here, by the way.
- 36:52Speaker 5: She's involved with rib Fest, which is going to be happening,
- 36:55Speaker 5: uh next week in Marmett. And we're trying to drum
- 36:58Speaker 5: drum up. See what I did there, Joe. We're trying
- 37:00Speaker 5: to drum up a little a little not well, not
- 37:03Speaker 5: the numbers, because they have a women's division in this
- 37:06Speaker 5: chicken wing eating contest. I don't have a lot of
- 37:07Speaker 5: women that are signed up yet, and Casey's getting lonely,
- 37:10Speaker 5: so we're trying to get her some more, some more
- 37:13Speaker 5: people in there. Now, Joe does a big chili This
- 37:16Speaker 5: is an internationally talking I mean, I know you're not
- 37:19Speaker 5: doing that tomorrow, Joe, but talk about what you do
- 37:23Speaker 5: with your with your chili contest.
- 37:24Speaker 3: They're in Nitro.
- 37:26Speaker 7: Well, it's the Wagon Tales in Nitro Ales Chili cook
- 37:30Speaker 7: Off that'll be happening the second Saturday in November, November eighth,
- 37:33Speaker 7: and we will uh it's a sanctioned event with the
- 37:36Speaker 7: International Chili Society and Casey please say hi to Aaron
- 37:40Speaker 7: for me. Aaron and I go way back, so I
- 37:42Speaker 7: know your event will be just a top notch event,
- 37:45Speaker 7: and good luck with everything but the chili cook off.
- 37:49Speaker 7: The winner will have three separate winners, one in the
- 37:52Speaker 7: traditional red category which means no beans or filler, and
- 37:56Speaker 7: then we have the green category chili verdie. And we
- 37:59Speaker 7: have the home style category, which is basically what Dave
- 38:02Speaker 7: cooks for his Super Bowl party that he has every year.
- 38:05Speaker 7: And those three winners will then qualify to represent the
- 38:09Speaker 7: city of Nitro in the World Championships every year held
- 38:13Speaker 7: by the International Chili Society. But that'll be happening on Saturday,
- 38:18Speaker 7: November eighth.
- 38:18Speaker 3: All right, so Casey put that on your calendar. You
- 38:20Speaker 3: need to be a part of that.
- 38:21Speaker 7: Hey, do you need a judge, Casey, Dave's got my
- 38:26Speaker 7: phone number, or you can. Dave's got my phone number.
- 38:29Speaker 7: Just give me a call and we'll hook you up.
- 38:31Speaker 8: Okay, I'm a pro at chili judging.
- 38:34Speaker 3: Come on, all right, we'll make sure make it happen.
- 38:36Speaker 5: Let's talk about this event tomorrow, Boomtown Days, Nitro's homecoming.
- 38:40Speaker 5: Talk about the event tomorrow, Joe, Well, you know it's.
- 38:43Speaker 7: Going to be an event when you're sitting in your
- 38:44Speaker 7: office and you see in the portageimes set up, so
- 38:47Speaker 7: you know something something is happening. And yes, it is
- 38:51Speaker 7: happening tomorrow right here in Nitro. Everything gets underway around
- 38:56Speaker 7: ten o'clock or so with the parade that will go
- 38:59Speaker 7: from Pickens Road on Route twenty five or First Avenue
- 39:03Speaker 7: down to nineteenth Street. If you would like to be
- 39:06Speaker 7: involved in the Boomtown parade, I will be lighting people up.
- 39:09Speaker 7: And if you come in and say I want to
- 39:10Speaker 7: be in the parade. Hey bring it on and you
- 39:13Speaker 7: can be in the parade, but that lineup starts at
- 39:16Speaker 7: nine o'clock. Parade starts at ten, and then everything is
- 39:20Speaker 7: centered around the Living Memorial Park, which is at the
- 39:24Speaker 7: corner of the intersection of Second Avenue and twenty first
- 39:27Speaker 7: Street here in Nitro. The vendors will be in the park.
- 39:31Speaker 7: We got quite a few cramp vendors and a lot
- 39:33Speaker 7: of information booths and that sort of thing. But one
- 39:37Speaker 7: of the mainstays of the event is the Nitro Antique
- 39:40Speaker 7: Car Club Annual Car Show, and we're expecting anywhere between
- 39:44Speaker 7: one hundred and hundred and fifty cars. They will be
- 39:47Speaker 7: lined up on Second Avenue from twenty first Street, down
- 39:49Speaker 7: the nineteenth Street and in into the Nitro Elementary School
- 39:54Speaker 7: parking lot. Some of the finest vehicles in the Canal
- 39:58Speaker 7: Valley and there's people that come from all around for this.
- 40:01Speaker 7: So if you really would like to see some spit
- 40:04Speaker 7: and polish, that will be happening on Second Avenue. The
- 40:07Speaker 7: car show is Registration starts around nine, but the cars
- 40:12Speaker 7: will be out there from at least from ten to four.
- 40:15Speaker 7: We've got a kids area where we have a Foam
- 40:17Speaker 7: Dome and that will be right there at Saint Paul's
- 40:20Speaker 7: Methodist Church on twentieth Street. Some inflatables will be happening
- 40:24Speaker 7: for the kids and that'll be going on. Gave Who've
- 40:27Speaker 7: got music and a close front of yours. Steve Bishop
- 40:31Speaker 7: is MCing from your sister station V one hundred will
- 40:35Speaker 7: be em seeing the day here in Nitro and the bands.
- 40:40Speaker 7: We kind of give the local bands a shot at
- 40:43Speaker 7: just playing in front of some folks that they might
- 40:45Speaker 7: know and that may not have heard them before. But
- 40:48Speaker 7: we've got the Barn Holler Band and they will be
- 40:51Speaker 7: opening up at eleven and then the Analog Boys will
- 40:55Speaker 7: be coming on around one point thirty. Then our headliner
- 40:58Speaker 7: will be the Adams Eden Eagles cover band. And this
- 41:03Speaker 7: show is free, everything you know is free for the
- 41:06Speaker 7: entertainment and everything, and they will be coming on about
- 41:09Speaker 7: four fifteen or so and playing until about six fifteen,
- 41:12Speaker 7: so just a whole bunch of fun. And then and
- 41:15Speaker 7: in the meantime over at Saint Paul's Methodist Church from
- 41:18Speaker 7: four to seven there will be the Italian Fest and
- 41:21Speaker 7: what that is it's the biggest fundraiser of the year
- 41:24Speaker 7: for the Nitro Mission team and you can go in
- 41:27Speaker 7: and get your Italian fest of meal. You can either
- 41:30Speaker 7: eat it there or you can get it to go.
- 41:33Speaker 7: So just a fun day in Nitro, David, it.
- 41:35Speaker 5: Sounds like it, and I love the charitable aspect of
- 41:38Speaker 5: It's with the Nitro mission there.
- 41:39Speaker 3: That's I was going to bring that up. That's really
- 41:41Speaker 3: cool that you do that.
- 41:43Speaker 7: Yeah, I mean, these guys just work so hard for
- 41:46Speaker 7: the community. They handle the food pantry, they handle the
- 41:49Speaker 7: Christmas backpack program, they handle a toy Big Toy Drive
- 41:54Speaker 7: giveaway each year, and they step up for the community
- 41:58Speaker 7: and we try to step up for them.
- 42:00Speaker 5: But Dave Onland shown five eighty Lives, brought to you
- 42:01Speaker 5: a part by Live Healthy West Virginia presented by WVU Madison.

- 42:07Speaker 5: the state. Check have the latest episodes wv metronews dot
- 42:10Speaker 5: com under the podcast menu. I had a question here
- 42:12Speaker 5: unrelated to what we're talking about here, but I know
- 42:15Speaker 5: that you're always good about answering people's question, Joe. Somebody
- 42:17Speaker 5: wanted to ask about the Nitro citywide yard sale.
- 42:20Speaker 3: Is that going to be a thing?
- 42:23Speaker 7: We won't be a as organized as it has been
- 42:26Speaker 7: in the past. In October, we will continue to work
- 42:30Speaker 7: with the organizers for the June event, which is the
- 42:32Speaker 7: first Saturday in June, but the October one will be
- 42:36Speaker 7: still a yard sale. And what we're doing is we're
- 42:39Speaker 7: also allowing folks to be involved if there is a
- 42:43Speaker 7: citywide yard sale Facebook page that they can post where
- 42:46Speaker 7: their yard sales will be, and we are waiving the
- 42:50Speaker 7: yard sale permit fee on that day, which is the
- 42:53Speaker 7: first Saturday in October. So as organized as it has
- 42:57Speaker 7: been in the past, No, is it still happened.
- 43:00Speaker 11: Yes?
- 43:00Speaker 7: Does that answer your question?
- 43:01Speaker 3: Yes, it does. It's about it. It's very clear.
- 43:05Speaker 5: And I didn't want to mention that for the parade
- 43:06Speaker 5: tomorrow because you said Steve Bishop's going to be there
- 43:09Speaker 5: from being one hundred, some of our stations are going
- 43:10Speaker 5: to be there. I am going to be there for
- 43:13Speaker 5: w c HS, Shockley is going to be there for
- 43:15Speaker 5: the Mountain, and I think Rob Reel is going to
- 43:17Speaker 5: be there for KWS. So we're looking forward to seeing
- 43:19Speaker 5: everybody there as well. Now again, if people want to
- 43:22Speaker 5: sign up for the parade, tell us Joe, what do
- 43:24Speaker 5: they need to do?
- 43:26Speaker 4: Show up?
- 43:26Speaker 7: Show up?
- 43:27Speaker 3: All right, very good.
- 43:28Speaker 7: I mean we're not talking about I wish we could
- 43:31Speaker 7: solve cancer with this parade. So we're not simple brain surgery.
- 43:35Speaker 3: We're show up a parade.
- 43:37Speaker 5: Just show up, Just show up. It sounds like it's
- 43:39Speaker 5: going to be a great day. Are you concerned about
- 43:40Speaker 5: the weather. You have you talked to Brian Hughes and

- 49:00Speaker 5: the eating contest, the chicken wing eating contest. Uh, Casey,
- 49:04Speaker 5: has there been any other thought to doing anything besides
- 49:07Speaker 5: chicken wings? For I know you're not one of the organized,
- 49:08Speaker 5: you're just helping out with this, but I mean, I mean,
- 49:10Speaker 5: could we do ribs? Could we do sides at some point?
- 49:12Speaker 5: Maybe not this year, but next.
- 49:14Speaker 8: I mean I'm always open to suggest, so you can
- 49:20Speaker 8: eat anything.
- 49:21Speaker 3: I'm gonna give. I'm gonna give you.
- 49:22Speaker 5: I'm gonna give you a like a criticism text here, Okay,
- 49:26Speaker 5: not you personally, okay, It says, uh, Dave. Competitive eating
- 49:30Speaker 5: is disgusting and the people who participate are a big
- 49:32Speaker 5: part of the world's problems today. They don't completely eat,
- 49:35Speaker 5: don't competitively, I should say in Sudan to the God's Trip.
- 49:39Speaker 5: My answer to that would be, then don't attend. If
- 49:42Speaker 5: you don't like it, don't go appreciate the text. But
- 49:45Speaker 5: it's not for everybody.
- 49:47Speaker 8: You know, it's all in fun. You know, it's not
- 49:51Speaker 8: just you know, competing or gorging yourself. But you know,
- 49:54Speaker 8: it's just you know, bring your friends, bring your family.
- 49:59Speaker 8: You know, it's that's a good time.
- 50:00Speaker 3: That's gonna be a good time.
- 50:01Speaker 5: And of course our station's gonna be broadcasting live from
- 50:04Speaker 5: up there, I understand. So if this is not your thing,
- 50:07Speaker 5: there's plenty of other things that you can do there.
- 50:09Speaker 5: Stuff for the kids, as you said, and music and
- 50:11Speaker 5: so on and so forth. Tex says, I dip my
- 50:13Speaker 5: buns in beer. Someone said, that's gonna fill you up.
- 50:16Speaker 5: If you drink the beer, that's gonna fill you. And
- 50:18Speaker 5: that's why I like at chili competitions, which I have
- 50:20Speaker 5: not done chili eating competitions, but I've judged a lot
- 50:23Speaker 5: of chili competitions. Everybody, they're very very strict on what
- 50:27Speaker 5: you can drink with it, nothing but water because that
- 50:29Speaker 5: way doesn't affect the pilott. No, you know, you can't
- 50:32Speaker 5: add salt, can't add crackers, you can't add cheese or
- 50:34Speaker 5: sour cream when any of that stuff.
- 50:36Speaker 3: Everybody has the same thing. Text says naked waners buns.
- 50:41Speaker 3: This show is wild text.
- 50:44Speaker 7: All right.
- 50:45Speaker 5: There was another text here that I have lost somewhere.
- 50:50Speaker 5: Oh yeah, this this segment is gross. It is the
- 50:52Speaker 5: text lol, but they put lol after it. Well it's
- 50:56Speaker 5: one that you're going to remember, that's for sure.
- 51:00Speaker 3: All right. Closing moments again, what's the time frame for
- 51:04Speaker 3: the entire rib fest? Because it's all like, okay, everything
- 51:07Speaker 3: kicks off Thursday.
- 51:08Speaker 5: It's next Thursday through the weekend. And what you're here
- 51:11Speaker 5: to talk about the chicken weed eating contest. And this
- 51:13Speaker 5: is a special appeal for women, as you said.
- 51:16Speaker 8: Yes, yes, I have a couple spots open for women.
- 51:20Speaker 2: Men.
- 51:20Speaker 8: We have plenty, We have alternates in case, you know,
- 51:24Speaker 8: somebody doesn't show. But yeah, women come out, come out
- 51:28Speaker 8: full force, you know. Register. There is a Facebook page
- 51:34Speaker 8: a set up specifically for the chicken wing eating contest,
- 51:38Speaker 8: and I'm going to start working on bios. I've asked
- 51:41Speaker 8: everybody to submit pictures that way. You can get to
- 51:44Speaker 8: know the competitors before the contest even begins.
- 51:46Speaker 5: So they need to get to go to this Facebook page.
- 51:48Speaker 5: And that's the best way to do it. And how
- 51:50Speaker 5: is it listed?
- 51:51Speaker 8: Okay? It is the twenty twenty five can All rib Fest.
- 51:56Speaker 8: Doug Scaff Junior Memorial Chicken Weed Contact.
- 52:00Speaker 3: Big shout out to my man Scaff. He would have
- 52:02Speaker 3: loved this sort of thing.
- 52:03Speaker 8: Oh oh yeah, well he was the MC.
- 52:05Speaker 3: Yeah. And and I knew Doug we all Yeah.
- 52:09Speaker 8: Yeah, yeah, I meant he was an incredible person even
- 52:11Speaker 8: when I left the newspaper. Last time I saw Doug,
- 52:14Speaker 8: I was actually welcome to work and he asked me
- 52:17Speaker 8: how I was doing that about my son.
- 52:19Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 52:19Speaker 3: Always a smile, always a smile. All right, Casey, been
