- 0:00Speaker 1: This is the Cats and Pudding Podcast. A melting pot
- 0:05Speaker 1: of pudding. And now, here's Jen.
- 0:09Speaker 2: Good afternoon, everyone, and welcome to this week's episode of
- 0:11Speaker 2: Cats and Pudding. And today, I have such a great guest,
- 0:15Speaker 2: and I have a great co-host. I'm so excited that
- 0:17Speaker 2: you're here, Tony. My dear Tony Canole, my adopted son.
- 0:21Speaker 1: I'm glad to be here. I love you. I love you, too.
- 0:24Speaker 1: She's the best.
- 0:25Speaker 2: He writes sonnets for me on social media that my
- 0:27Speaker 2: kids are even going, like, Mom, I can't even compete
- 0:30Speaker 2: with Tony Carolli.
- 0:31Speaker 1: She's one of the sweetest people I've met.
- 0:32Speaker 3: Seriously, one of the sweetest people.
- 0:34Speaker 1: Oh, stop. I love you.
- 0:36Speaker 2: And we have a great guest today. Mr.
- 0:39Speaker 1: Peppy over here.
- 0:39Speaker 4: Yes.
- 0:40Speaker 2: Pep's got answers.
- 0:41Speaker 1: Peppy's got.
- 0:42Speaker 2: Anthony Pep.
- 0:43Speaker 1: Right? I love it.
- 0:44Speaker 2: Nice to have you here today.
- 0:45Speaker 1: Thank you very much. Welcome to the show.
- 0:48Speaker 2: I'm so excited that you're here.
- 0:49Speaker 1: I'm excited to be here.
- 0:50Speaker 2: Another person that we met on Instagram.
- 0:54Speaker 1: Yes. Yep.
- 0:54Speaker 3: And.
- 0:55Speaker 2: got friendly on Instagram, was supportive of our stuff and
- 1:00Speaker 2: your stuff. And that's what I love about that is that,
- 1:03Speaker 2: you know, people should support each other.
- 1:05Speaker 1: That community is getting bigger by the day.
- 1:07Speaker 2: It is. And it's also people are a little petty
- 1:11Speaker 2: in it. And I don't like when people don't support
- 1:14Speaker 2: other people.
- 1:15Speaker 1: Well, that's always going to happen. My thing is the
- 1:18Speaker 1: best way to do that is always just kill them
- 1:20Speaker 1: with kindness.
- 1:20Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:20Speaker 1: Well, that's every time I'll suffocate them with kindness. That's it.
- 1:23Speaker 1: That's it. That's all you can do.
- 1:25Speaker 2: But it's like. In our community, like, dude, there's room
- 1:29Speaker 2: for everybody.
- 1:30Speaker 1: Nobody's success determines anybody else's success. Exactly. In any of
- 1:34Speaker 1: that social media stuff. Not at all. Like, you can
- 1:37Speaker 1: do good and that guy can do good. Exactly. Absolutely. Also,
- 1:39Speaker 1: the need to realize that most of these people are
- 1:41Speaker 1: watching us when they're on the toilet. Okay?
- 1:43Speaker 2: Exactly.
- 1:46Speaker 1: All of this goes on at the toilet. You go
- 1:48Speaker 1: to work, and then you sit on the toilet, all right?
- 1:50Speaker 1: And that's when you watch most of my reels. I'm
- 1:53Speaker 1: very aware of the odor that's around when you're watching
- 1:56Speaker 1: my videos, okay? There's no reason for me to be
- 2:00Speaker 1: full of myself when everybody else is full of shit,
- 2:03Speaker 1: all right? I'm really crying.
- 2:10Speaker 2: You're the best. You are so funny. I love your videos.
- 2:13Speaker 2: One of the first videos, I started following you and
- 2:15Speaker 2: it was so funny. You took Chris and Pat's podcast
- 2:21Speaker 2: and you were doing reaction videos on their podcast. And
- 2:24Speaker 2: one of them, the first one was when I was
- 2:27Speaker 2: on it and we were talking about the difference between
- 2:29Speaker 2: women and men who treat. And we would like, and
- 2:32Speaker 2: you were like commentating on it, which was hilarious.
- 2:35Speaker 1: Yes.
- 2:35Speaker 2: So I loved your, I love especially because you didn't
- 2:38Speaker 2: make fun of me.
- 2:38Speaker 1: So that's how I got introduced to that whole community
- 2:40Speaker 1: was I kept, so the voice, I grew up in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn.
- 2:44Speaker 1: That's where I'm from. So, They would, all their questions
- 2:47Speaker 1: that they would ask always related to like their neighborhood questions.
- 2:50Speaker 1: They were layups, you know what I mean? They're not
- 2:52Speaker 1: really hobbed. Like, so this is like everyday things. So
- 2:56Speaker 1: like the stuff with the velour suits and everything else
- 2:58Speaker 1: like that with one of them. Sergei Dekin. Yeah, he
- 3:00Speaker 1: was saying she didn't like them. Oh, this too, by
- 3:02Speaker 1: the way. Love it.
- 3:03Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 3:03Speaker 1: I wear them all the time. They're the most concept thing.
- 3:06Speaker 1: It's from the 80s, man.
- 3:08Speaker 2: I still got the.
- 3:09Speaker 1: I was one of the show yesterday to go set up.
- 3:11Speaker 1: I set up. I loves it. I love that. And
- 3:14Speaker 1: then as you can Chris, one of the purple, what's
- 3:16Speaker 1: a purple one that first was mine too.
- 3:20Speaker 2: Chris is on Voices of Brooklyn podcast. I have the
- 3:23Speaker 2: Pat Boreal agree podcast. Another group, another bunch of our friends.
- 3:27Speaker 1: And I love that this, we.
- 3:30Speaker 2: Started, we have this nice group.
- 3:32Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 3:32Speaker 2: And now it's like expanding to other people.
- 3:34Speaker 1: Now you're in it now.
- 3:35Speaker 2: Now Sal's part of our crew.
- 3:37Speaker 1: It's like. And it gets more fun that way. It does.
- 3:40Speaker 1: It does. It's way more fun. I love it.
- 3:42Speaker 2: I love that we have this great crew of people.
- 3:45Speaker 2: And it's like, and it's good people. And that's, and
- 3:49Speaker 2: you know, I like to be around positive people. I
- 3:51Speaker 2: don't like to be around negative people.
- 3:52Speaker 1: Yeah, you don't need that in your life. No. No,
- 3:54Speaker 1: it's enough. I don't know what you're saying. No. I'm old.
- 3:56Speaker 2: Listen, I'm a lot older than you guys. So to me,
- 3:59Speaker 2: social media to me is like a side gig for me.
- 4:03Speaker 1: You know what I mean?
- 4:04Speaker 2: I have a successful business. You know, I do other things.
- 4:07Speaker 2: I act, I produce, like things like that. So the
- 4:09Speaker 2: social media, yes, it's fun and I do it for
- 4:11Speaker 2: my business.
- 4:13Speaker 1: So I'm in a similar boat. I'm a DJ and
- 4:15Speaker 1: Etsy by trade. During the week, I build elevators too.
- 4:18Speaker 1: But during, like, I have a DJ company for 24
- 4:21Speaker 1: years now. I've been doing weddings. That's what I do.
- 4:24Speaker 1: You're a great DJ, by the way. Thank you.
- 4:26Speaker 2: I heard him DJ the first time yesterday. I married
- 4:29Speaker 2: to the mob play that we were doing together.
- 4:31Speaker 1: Which was great. You are. You're a great DJ. Thank
- 4:33Speaker 1: you very much.
- 4:34Speaker 2: So when my daughter gets married, I'm going to have you.
- 4:36Speaker 1: Come and DJ. I love it. No problem. I'd be
- 4:38Speaker 1: happy to do it. I was off social media from
- 4:42Speaker 1: 2015 until January of this year. This year? This was
- 4:47Speaker 1: when I went back on social media. The only reason
- 4:49Speaker 1: why I went back on is because a good friend
- 4:51Speaker 1: of mine said, You know, I had a lull in
- 4:53Speaker 1: my numbers for booking, which was common with everybody because
- 4:56Speaker 1: it was right after COVID and everything.
- 4:58Speaker 3: Right.
- 4:58Speaker 1: In Russia, weddings, and then it sort of like plateaued. Yeah,
- 5:01Speaker 1: it flatlined a little bit. And then I went back
- 5:03Speaker 1: on social media, and then sure enough, the phone started
- 5:06Speaker 1: ringing a bit. But I did a charity event for
- 5:08Speaker 1: the Live Like a Unicorn Foundation, which I do a
- 5:10Speaker 1: lot of stuff for. I just want to mention them. Okay.
- 5:13Speaker 1: I love that. You can mention whatever. And then the
- 5:16Speaker 1: next day, I made a video of me shoveling snow.
- 5:20Speaker 1: And how I was, I live in Jersey now. I
- 5:21Speaker 1: don't live in Brooklyn anymore. Now I have like, there's
- 5:24Speaker 1: a nice amount of shovels. And I don't have a snowblower.
- 5:27Speaker 1: I love that. So it was just me losing my
- 5:29Speaker 1: shit because I didn't have a snowblower. And that went viral.
- 5:32Speaker 1: And then I was like, I could just do that.
- 5:37Speaker 1: That's what I do.
- 5:37Speaker 2: You say, let's spray it.
- 5:39Speaker 1: Yes, that's the beauty of social media. Eight or nine
- 5:43Speaker 1: months in, I'm probably going to... I'm almost at 50,000 followers.
- 5:47Speaker 2: You're doing fantastic.
- 5:48Speaker 1: You're moving. You're doing great. Your videos are funny. Thank you.
- 5:52Speaker 2: And it's funny because... like, I'm from, I'm from, you know, Queens,
- 5:56Speaker 2: I'm from Howard Beach, and my brothers all both moved
- 5:59Speaker 2: to Jersey, and I'm laughing that you're saying that about
- 6:00Speaker 2: the snow, because my brother has this big palatial house
- 6:04Speaker 2: and landscape, and the first few years, he refused to
- 6:08Speaker 2: put fucking sprinkler systems in his house.
- 6:09Speaker 1: He's whole, I wake up one day, and I mean,
- 6:12Speaker 1: he's outside, he's moving the sprinkler around.
- 6:14Speaker 2: I'm like, what the fuck is wrong with you?
- 6:17Speaker 1: I water it better. I do it better. There are
- 6:20Speaker 1: so many things that I still have to adjust to.
- 6:22Speaker 1: I've been in Jersey for four years now, but, you know, concrete.
- 6:26Speaker 1: Everything was concrete where I lived. There was one little
- 6:28Speaker 1: patch of grass and everything else was concrete. So it
- 6:31Speaker 1: was like, now it's like, there was so many, like,
- 6:33Speaker 1: how about just animals? I got rabbits and deer all
- 6:36Speaker 1: over the place. Like, I thought these things were just
- 6:38Speaker 1: in the forest somewhere. I didn't think I was going
- 6:40Speaker 1: to see them in my lawn.
- 6:41Speaker 2: They're like, and bears, so you see the tails, like, Wow,
- 6:45Speaker 2: that's happened. It's so funny, but it's so true. And like,
- 6:49Speaker 2: when he, and it's funny too, another story with him,
- 6:51Speaker 2: when he was, when he's there, he's like washing his stoop.
- 6:54Speaker 2: You know, the Italian broom was spraying it with the post.
- 6:56Speaker 1: And his neighbors are looking, why is he washing his paper?
- 7:00Speaker 1: Because you're supposed to wash the concrete. That's what you're
- 7:02Speaker 1: supposed to do, right? He washes the concrete every day.
- 7:04Speaker 1: I have to wash my concrete every day. Every day.
- 7:07Speaker 2: I clean my concrete.
- 7:08Speaker 1: It's out there with the hose.
- 7:09Speaker 2: It's like therapy for me.
- 7:10Speaker 1: Yeah. I like doing that. Listen, where I, and where
- 7:14Speaker 1: I grew up, Everybody did that. That neighborhood at that time.
- 7:19Speaker 1: The concrete was wet in the morning. That's what happened.
- 7:23Speaker 1: It's so funny. It really was.
- 7:26Speaker 2: How old were you when you moved to Jersey?
- 7:30Speaker 1: When I started dating my wife, I moved to Staten Island.
- 7:34Speaker 1: My wife was born and raised in Staten Island. And
- 7:37Speaker 1: I moved to First, I was in Great Kills, then
- 7:39Speaker 1: I moved to Tottenville. That's what always happens. Yeah, but
- 7:42Speaker 1: I was only there for like five, six years. Okay.
- 7:45Speaker 1: Staten Island, I wasn't nearly as fond of as I
- 7:48Speaker 1: was of Brooklyn, and I also wasn't as fond of
- 7:50Speaker 1: it as I am of... I don't care. I wasn't
- 7:53Speaker 1: fond of Staten Island. And then I moved to Aberdeen,
- 8:00Speaker 1: New Jersey, where I am now. I love it. I
- 8:02Speaker 1: didn't think I was going to like it the way
- 8:04Speaker 1: I liked it. I feel like I moved to New Brooklyn. Like,
- 8:08Speaker 1: everybody there is, like, from my neighborhood. Like, this is wild.
- 8:11Speaker 2: And that's what happens.
- 8:12Speaker 1: And it's just become, like, a whole new, like, it's like,
- 8:15Speaker 1: this is fantastic. It's like Florida.
- 8:16Speaker 2: When you go to Fort Lauderdale, everybody there is from Brooklyn.
- 8:19Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 8:19Speaker 1: My whole building is from Brooklyn. Yeah.
- 8:24Speaker 2: They've been there for 40 years up to two years.
- 8:26Speaker 2: Everybody's from Brooklyn, which I love that.
- 8:29Speaker 1: Yeah. And like, I come from like, I've had the
- 8:30Speaker 1: same friends my entire life. Me too. So it's like,
- 8:33Speaker 1: I'm like literally one of my close friends I had
- 8:35Speaker 1: since kindergarten. Like kindergarten. And then the latest friend I
- 8:38Speaker 1: think I made when I was like in like eight
- 8:40Speaker 1: or nine. They moved by you? Yeah. Well, one of
- 8:43Speaker 1: them is a good friend of mine. The one that
- 8:45Speaker 1: told me to go back on social media. He is
- 8:47Speaker 1: part owner in Lovotes in Jersey. Oh, nice. That's my
- 8:50Speaker 1: best friend, Mike.
- 8:51Speaker 4: Okay.
- 8:51Speaker 1: And then my other friend, Mike moved, same thing from
- 8:54Speaker 1: Staten Island. He went from Brooklyn, lived down a block
- 8:56Speaker 1: from me. Then moved to Staten Island, not too far
- 8:58Speaker 1: from me. It's always happening. It's always what happens. And
- 9:04Speaker 1: then I have some friends who are like police officers,
- 9:07Speaker 1: sanitation workers, things like that. they all still live on
- 9:09Speaker 1: the island because you can't really live.
- 9:11Speaker 2: Right, because you can't live.
- 9:12Speaker 1: And it's hard. And then, so they.
- 9:14Speaker 2: So, I mean, a lot... That's what happens. It's Brooklyn,
- 9:17Speaker 2: Staten Island, Jersey. Queens is Long Island.
- 9:20Speaker 1: Yeah. That's what happens.
- 9:21Speaker 2: And Bronx, they go to Westchester.
- 9:23Speaker 1: Yes. Or to New Rochelle. It's so funny.
- 9:25Speaker 2: That's not where they migrate.
- 9:26Speaker 1: They just make short little trips. Yeah, they make short
- 9:29Speaker 1: little journeys. It's like, that's what... And act like they're
- 9:31Speaker 1: moving thousands of miles away. I moved to a highly
- 9:34Speaker 1: efficient location.
- 9:35Speaker 2: They're like, I can't believe how far it is.
- 9:37Speaker 1: I'm like, dude, it's... However... I recently made the trip
- 9:41Speaker 1: from Aberdeen to Brennan and Carr.
- 9:44Speaker 2: Okay.
- 9:45Speaker 1: To go get, I want to take my kids. We
- 9:46Speaker 1: know them very well. I'm friends with the owner. Brennan
- 9:49Speaker 1: and Carr is great. I wanted to kill myself on
- 9:52Speaker 1: this ride into Brooklyn between the 25 mile an hour
- 9:56Speaker 1: speed zones and all the cameras. I must have had
- 9:59Speaker 1: seven tickets when I got home. I was like this.
- 10:02Speaker 1: This place killed me today.
- 10:03Speaker 2: It's terrible.
- 10:04Speaker 1: It totally puts a starch right out of me. I
- 10:05Speaker 1: didn't want to be there.
- 10:06Speaker 2: It's horrible.
- 10:07Speaker 1: It's terrible, these cameras. It's crazy. Any slow will be
- 10:10Speaker 1: in horse-drawn carriages.
- 10:11Speaker 2: Yes.
- 10:12Speaker 1: What are you guys doing? They don't want us to
- 10:13Speaker 1: have cars.
- 10:14Speaker 2: They want to make it so uncomfortable and annoying for
- 10:17Speaker 2: us that we don't have a car.
- 10:19Speaker 1: That's what it is.
- 10:20Speaker 2: Yep.
- 10:20Speaker 1: That's what it all is. It's all a game.
- 10:22Speaker 2: It's never going to happen.
- 10:24Speaker 1: Nobody's going to stop driving. No.
- 10:25Speaker 2: But they're just going to do this until everybody snaps.
- 10:28Speaker 1: Well, they also know most people aren't going to stop driving.
- 10:31Speaker 1: So now it's a money-making machine.
- 10:33Speaker 2: Of course, they're doing it on purpose to annoy us and.
- 10:36Speaker 1: People are just like, fuck it. It's making money hand over.
- 10:39Speaker 1: That is.
- 10:40Speaker 2: Listen, I put that stuff on my license plate to
- 10:43Speaker 2: cover it so I don't get so sick.
- 10:46Speaker 1: Listen, someone can get rid of those cameras. Someone can
- 10:48Speaker 1: just get rid of them. I'll be your best friend.
- 10:50Speaker 1: I will say this. What's cool about Staten Island, when
- 10:52Speaker 1: they started bringing those cameras out, they went out of
- 10:54Speaker 1: their way. They were breaking. They were like cutting the
- 10:55Speaker 1: poles down with sawzalls. They did that. It was wild.
- 11:00Speaker 1: They were. I wish I was there for that. Let
- 11:02Speaker 1: me tell you, people would put signs up before the
- 11:05Speaker 1: camera like there's a camera here. Yeah. I'm not even,
- 11:08Speaker 1: that's an actual thing. I'm not making that up. Because
- 11:12Speaker 1: then people started getting caught and they were putting signs up.
- 11:14Speaker 1: Is a camera coming? Don't do it here. Make a
- 11:18Speaker 1: right or don't go this way.
- 11:21Speaker 2: That's what we should do.
- 11:23Speaker 1: We should do that all over the city. Just all
- 11:25Speaker 1: the communities get together and like, nope, there's one here. Exactly.
- 11:28Speaker 2: We want to give them a dollar. They don't deserve it.
- 11:30Speaker 2: Avoid this camera at all costs.
- 11:32Speaker 1: Go make a right.
- 11:32Speaker 2: Who cares if it's going to take you another hour
- 11:34Speaker 2: and a half to get home, but we don't care.
- 11:36Speaker 1: Just don't go past the damn camera. Yep.
- 11:39Speaker 2: It's crazy.
- 11:40Speaker 1: It's insane.
- 11:40Speaker 2: Wait, so I put this stuff on my license, and
- 11:43Speaker 2: this was a couple years ago when this first started. So,
- 11:45Speaker 2: God pulls me over on Crosby Boulevard.
- 11:48Speaker 1: I live in Howard Beach.
- 11:49Speaker 2: And he's like, he goes, did you spray something on
- 11:52Speaker 2: your license?
- 11:52Speaker 1: He's like, you know, I'm like, no.
- 11:54Speaker 2: I said, it's snow. He goes, it's May, ma'am.
- 11:57Speaker 1: It's not snow.
- 11:59Speaker 2: Got him.
- 12:04Speaker 1: I was like, he started laughing because he knew I
- 12:07Speaker 1: was trying it. But I was like, all right, you know.
- 12:10Speaker 2: I was going to try anything you can do.
- 12:13Speaker 1: But, like, it's crazy.
- 12:15Speaker 2: The ticket, I must have got, one day I got probably,
- 12:18Speaker 2: I was late for work. And it used to take
- 12:20Speaker 2: me from my office in Tower Beach to Glendale Ridgewood area,
- 12:24Speaker 2: 15 minutes to get there.
- 12:26Speaker 1: That's it. Door to door, 15 minutes.
- 12:28Speaker 2: Now, it could take me an hour between the traffic,
- 12:31Speaker 2: the freaking dumb bikes that I want to run everybody
- 12:34Speaker 2: off the road with these people.
- 12:35Speaker 1: The cameras. And, yeah, crazy. And the amount of money
- 12:38Speaker 1: it even costs you to go to work at that point. Oh, yeah. Like,
- 12:41Speaker 1: if I'm coming from Jersey, say if I wanted to
- 12:42Speaker 1: drive my car into the city, what are we doing? $ 200.
- 12:45Speaker 1: Why am I going to work that day? $ 200.
- 12:47Speaker 2: Why am I going to work?
- 12:48Speaker 1: Anything you want to eat?
- 12:49Speaker 4: Yep.
- 12:50Speaker 1: Lunch. It's like, what's the point? No, it's crazy.
- 12:53Speaker 2: It's insane. I was late for work, and I probably
- 12:58Speaker 2: blew every single light. I was in the bus lane.
- 13:00Speaker 2: So I'm driving in the bus lane, so I probably
- 13:02Speaker 2: got 50. That day, that one day cost me like
- 13:06Speaker 2: $ 400 in tickets.
- 13:07Speaker 1: Insane. And of course, I didn't pay him all right.
- 13:09Speaker 2: Now I got faculty on top of it.
- 13:11Speaker 1: Because you're running late, and you don't want to hear
- 13:13Speaker 1: any shit about being late. So now you don't even
- 13:15Speaker 1: care what it's costing you to get to work. You
- 13:17Speaker 1: might as well just sit home at that point.
- 13:18Speaker 2: And it's so funny, I'm the boss, and I get
- 13:20Speaker 2: scared of my manager when I'm late.
- 13:23Speaker 1: They're like, you're.
- 13:24Speaker 2: Fucking late, you've got to get to the patient's room,
- 13:26Speaker 2: they're waiting for you, what the fuck are you doing?
- 13:28Speaker 2: I'm like, I'll be there in five minutes, that's always
- 13:30Speaker 2: my answer. I'll be there in five minutes, I'm an
- 13:32Speaker 2: hour away. I'm in bed with my mask on, I'm like,
- 13:35Speaker 2: all right, I'll be there.
- 13:36Speaker 1: In five minutes. 100%. I've been in that boat. It's
- 13:41Speaker 1: so funny, though.
- 13:42Speaker 2: But it's crazy, these cameras.
- 13:43Speaker 1: It's nuts.
- 13:45Speaker 2: That's probably, that's a better part of Jersey that they
- 13:48Speaker 2: don't have the night yet, but they might.
- 13:49Speaker 1: Jersey's not, there's a lot of perks to Jersey. The parking.
- 13:53Speaker 1: I remember when I lived in Brooklyn looking for, and
- 13:55Speaker 1: I get home late for DJing weddings, so it's like,
- 13:57Speaker 1: we think you'll find a spot at three o'clock in
- 13:59Speaker 1: the morning. You want to murder somebody. Oh, God. What murder?
- 14:03Speaker 1: You want to murder somebody?
- 14:09Speaker 4: Just watch that old clip in my head. He's the
- 14:12Speaker 4: best guy I want. I want to find that guy
- 14:16Speaker 4: and interview him. His name is Patrick O'Donnell. Wait, did
- 14:21Speaker 4: you know I have T-shirts I'm going to give.
- 14:22Speaker 1: It to you guys? We're going to start, me and Gina.
- 14:25Speaker 1: Is this going to say what murder on them? I
- 14:27Speaker 1: have them. It says what murder, and on the back
- 14:30Speaker 1: it says free Patrick instead of free John.
- 14:34Speaker 2: I had them at home because we wanted to do videos.
- 14:39Speaker 2: Me and Gina, Joe Gambino's girlfriend, we just started that
- 14:43Speaker 2: whole thing. Remember at my house, we kept doing the
- 14:45Speaker 2: stupid what murder? And it was just so fun. It
- 14:49Speaker 2: actually started on the Voice of Brooklyn podcast.
- 14:51Speaker 1: It was on the story of Patrick. We started it.
- 14:55Speaker 2: The funniest was when I told Patrick I did the t-shirts,
- 14:59Speaker 2: he thought he was the Patrick.
- 15:00Speaker 1: He was scared. How sad was he when he found
- 15:04Speaker 1: out he wasn't the Patrick?
- 15:06Speaker 2: You know, he's got that funny, he's so funny.
- 15:11Speaker 1: He's on a podcast with Pat. He's like, I just,
- 15:14Speaker 1: that guy just, he's from the same neighborhood as me.
- 15:16Speaker 2: I love it.
- 15:16Speaker 1: So it's like, it's had that instant relation to the guy.
- 15:19Speaker 1: Oh my God. He is one of the funniest people.
- 15:22Speaker 2: I know.
- 15:22Speaker 1: I love him dearly.
- 15:23Speaker 3: He had us dying one night. The night we shot
- 15:26Speaker 3: our episode, it was episode 57, but, He said one
- 15:30Speaker 3: story about how he went to a funeral. He went
- 15:34Speaker 3: to a funeral. Then he's in the back of the church.
- 15:36Speaker 3: One of his friends asks, everyone's crying. He's in the
- 15:40Speaker 3: back with a few people. And someone asks him, what
- 15:42Speaker 3: does it say above Jesus?
- 15:44Speaker 1: I-N-R-I.
- 15:45Speaker 2: What does that mean?
- 15:46Speaker 3: And he goes, oh, you really want to know what
- 15:49Speaker 3: it means?
- 15:49Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 15:49Speaker 1: He goes, Stanford, I'm nailed right in. And they're all hysterically...
- 15:56Speaker 1: They're all hysterically laughing. They're all hysterically laughing.
- 15:59Speaker 2: He said, everybody's laughing.
- 16:01Speaker 1: Everyone's covering their faces. And they're shaking. And everybody's still.
- 16:05Speaker 2: They're crying. They're hysterically laughing at what Pat said.
- 16:09Speaker 1: You know what? I probably needed a demo. They did.
- 16:13Speaker 2: So, I'm nailed right in. I was like, what a
- 16:15Speaker 2: fucking genius.
- 16:16Speaker 1: Yep.
- 16:16Speaker 2: Fucking genius. I love that guy. Oh, my God. He's
- 16:19Speaker 2: such a good person. And I like to see that
- 16:21Speaker 2: we all, like, kind of.
- 16:23Speaker 1: Everything is just blend. Everybody's like, you know, it's, it's good.
- 16:29Speaker 1: It's just getting bigger. It is getting bigger.
- 16:30Speaker 2: And I love that.
- 16:31Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 16:32Speaker 2: I love that.
- 16:32Speaker 1: It's way better.
- 16:33Speaker 2: It is better.
- 16:34Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 16:34Speaker 1: Cause all the content gets better that way too. Oh,
- 16:37Speaker 1: it does. And now we can all do more. Like
- 16:40Speaker 1: certain personalities mesh well with other personalities. Exactly. Like it,
- 16:44Speaker 1: It's better for everybody. It is better for everybody.
- 16:46Speaker 2: And I think it's, I really would love to do
- 16:48Speaker 2: a variety show with all of us together.
- 16:51Speaker 1: I think that would be a brilliant thing to do.
- 16:54Speaker 2: I think it would be hilarious with everybody's personalities.
- 16:58Speaker 1: I think that would be so much fun.
- 17:00Speaker 2: I have to think, oh, we're going to, we're going
- 17:03Speaker 2: to think about that.
- 17:03Speaker 1: We're going to think about it, right? We could produce
- 17:06Speaker 1: it and be in it and do it. There we go.
- 17:10Speaker 1: That would be great. I think it would be a
- 17:12Speaker 1: really good thing. I will have many cocktails before going
- 17:14Speaker 1: to ownership. We'll make it that much better. So I'm
- 17:20Speaker 1: out slurring my words. What up? How does your wife
- 17:26Speaker 1: feel about you doing the social media? My wife is
- 17:29Speaker 1: actually super supportive. I love that. Like she's not, she's.
- 17:32Speaker 1: Within reason. You know, I got three kids at home.
- 17:34Speaker 2: Of course.
- 17:35Speaker 1: I got a seven, four and an eight month old.
- 17:36Speaker 1: So I have to be. Well, at least they don't
- 17:38Speaker 1: have opinions yet. At least they're not that. The old
- 17:40Speaker 1: one's got opinions. The old one's got some opinions. I
- 17:44Speaker 1: already got, I already got the stuff like that. You
- 17:46Speaker 1: still like you're on your phone. It's like. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah,
- 17:50Speaker 1: I am. And that stuff bothers me a little bit.
- 17:53Speaker 1: So I don't like doing that. But my wife is
- 17:56Speaker 1: super supportive to an extent. You know what I mean?
- 17:58Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 17:58Speaker 1: You have a life. Of course. There's a world outside
- 18:01Speaker 1: of social media.
- 18:02Speaker 2: Don't you find that we get wrapped up sometimes in it, though?
- 18:06Speaker 1: We get wrapped up in it. And anybody who likes
- 18:09Speaker 1: what they're doing, they get wrapped up in it because
- 18:11Speaker 1: they're enjoying it. Yes. I enjoy doing some of the
- 18:14Speaker 1: bits and things like that. Because a lot of my
- 18:16Speaker 1: stuff is leading towards the way of stand-up. That's the
- 18:18Speaker 1: route I take myself. We had a four-week span here.
- 18:23Speaker 1: Where I was doing stuff every day. Your show today
- 18:26Speaker 1: and the cannoli contest is kind of like the last
- 18:28Speaker 1: of that. And then I'm starting to space them out.
- 18:31Speaker 1: Like only one or two of these things a week. Okay. One,
- 18:33Speaker 1: because my kids are back in school. And again, we
- 18:35Speaker 1: have lives and things like that. And also I need
- 18:37Speaker 1: to start focusing more on going the standup route and
- 18:39Speaker 1: getting on open mics. I think you'd be brilliant on that.
- 18:43Speaker 1: That's my goal. Start doing that. And yeah. Yeah. Everybody's
- 18:47Speaker 1: been super supportive with that too. Yeah. And I got
- 18:49Speaker 1: some other stuff coming up. I'm doing some. I might
- 18:51Speaker 1: be doing some stuff with a wrestling promotion. I love that.
- 18:54Speaker 1: There's a lot of stuff. Because by nature, I'm an emcee.
- 18:57Speaker 1: I'm on the microphone. So it's like I'll do events
- 19:00Speaker 1: and everything else like that. You're great.
- 19:02Speaker 2: I mean, yesterday, we were in the Married to the
- 19:04Speaker 2: Mob show together. That was the first time I really.
- 19:08Speaker 1: Hung out with you. That was the first time I
- 19:09Speaker 1: met you, yeah. Well, we met at- Oh, no. We
- 19:11Speaker 1: met at Beatstock. We met at Beatstock. There was a
- 19:13Speaker 1: lot of stuff going on that night.
- 19:14Speaker 4: Beatstock.
- 19:15Speaker 1: I also had a couple cocktails.
- 19:16Speaker 2: Yay.
- 19:17Speaker 1: I went back there.
- 19:18Speaker 2: I had a couple of cocktails. I had a couple
- 19:20Speaker 2: of cocktails. I should be like your lead-in to everything.
- 19:25Speaker 1: I had a couple of cocktails. Well, you talk about
- 19:27Speaker 1: doing a variety show. I said I always wanted to
- 19:28Speaker 1: do a podcast. Just have a drink with me. Let's
- 19:36Speaker 1: do it. I have a lot of friends who own
- 19:39Speaker 1: restaurants and things like that. And I've said I'll just
- 19:41Speaker 1: go into one of my friends' restaurants. They all have
- 19:43Speaker 1: their featured cocktails. We'll feature one of their cocktails and
- 19:46Speaker 1: then drink whatever you want. And just drink it while
- 19:48Speaker 1: you want. I love it. And just bullshit. We should
- 19:51Speaker 1: totally do that. That's great. So that's what I wanted
- 19:53Speaker 1: to do. So I was hoping to possibly start doing that.
- 19:56Speaker 1: But like I said, I want to take this more
- 19:57Speaker 1: of the stand-up route and doing live events. All my
- 20:00Speaker 1: stuff is through live events. Yeah. That's what I want
- 20:02Speaker 1: to do.
- 20:03Speaker 2: But I think that's a good fit for you.
- 20:05Speaker 1: You know?
- 20:05Speaker 2: And I know stand-up is not for everybody. But I
- 20:09Speaker 2: think you could do it.
- 20:10Speaker 1: Like that would be a great route for you. I
- 20:12Speaker 1: always wanted to do it.
- 20:13Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 20:13Speaker 1: A lot of my stuff was, you know, I met
- 20:15Speaker 1: my wife when I was 22. Yeah. I got married
- 20:17Speaker 1: when I was 30. Yeah. And I had kids when
- 20:20Speaker 1: I was 30 and a half. Yeah. We got married
- 20:23Speaker 1: and had the kids right away. And I'm not upset
- 20:25Speaker 1: by that by any means. You know, I had a job.
- 20:27Speaker 1: I did what I had to do and everything else
- 20:29Speaker 1: like that. But now, you know, I hit 40. I'm
- 20:32Speaker 1: going to be 40 in February. And I'm talking to
- 20:35Speaker 1: my son, you know, every now and then I'm kind
- 20:37Speaker 1: of like that. I want to be an elevator constructor.
- 20:38Speaker 1: And that's a great job. There's nothing wrong with that.
- 20:40Speaker 2: Right.
- 20:40Speaker 1: Top of the line. I can't say enough good things.
- 20:43Speaker 1: about the elevator union in New York City. But what
- 20:46Speaker 1: I am going to say is that's not your dream.
- 20:48Speaker 1: What seven-year-old is dreaming about building elevators? Nobody. Nobody. So
- 20:53Speaker 1: I attempt to see that you can still go for
- 20:57Speaker 1: your dream or what you want to do. Absolutely. So
- 20:59Speaker 1: me doing the weddings and DJing was always my way
- 21:02Speaker 1: of kind of holding on to that and being on stage. Yeah.
- 21:04Speaker 1: And now he needs to see me. I just want
- 21:06Speaker 1: him to see me take that to the next level.
- 21:08Speaker 1: So that's part of my whole drive behind everything.
- 21:12Speaker 2: And you're young enough to start acting.
- 21:15Speaker 1: I don't feel old. I had this comment. I made
- 21:17Speaker 1: a post about this. I was like, I look at
- 21:20Speaker 1: some of the people that are my age and I'm like,
- 21:22Speaker 1: why are you acting old? Don't get it out of
- 21:25Speaker 1: your head. Yeah. Stop. Don't let it beat you down.
- 21:28Speaker 1: Go do you.
- 21:29Speaker 2: Me, I'm 56.
- 21:31Speaker 1: I'm a lot older than you. But people say this
- 21:33Speaker 1: to me all the time. Jen, you're out. You're doing this.
- 21:36Speaker 2: I go, first of all, what am I going to
- 21:37Speaker 2: do home? My kids are grown. What am I going
- 21:40Speaker 2: to do? I like to go out. I like to
- 21:43Speaker 2: talk to people. I like to have fun. I like
- 21:44Speaker 2: to enjoy my life. What am I going to do?
- 21:48Speaker 2: Sit home? It's not like I need to do all
- 21:51Speaker 2: these things. But I enjoy it.
- 21:54Speaker 1: I enjoy doing my podcasts. Why doesn't she do anything?
- 21:58Speaker 1: Because you want to. Right. Simple as that. Why do
- 22:00Speaker 1: you need to do that?
- 22:01Speaker 2: Because it's not because I do. I want to. But
- 22:04Speaker 2: my kids are older, so they have opinions about things.
- 22:08Speaker 2: And it's so funny. They track me on the phone.
- 22:11Speaker 2: I have their location because I don't ever want to
- 22:14Speaker 2: be that parent.
- 22:15Speaker 1: You have their location because you're a bum.
- 22:16Speaker 2: Right, because I don't want the comments that come to
- 22:19Speaker 2: my house that say, you know where your kid is,
- 22:20Speaker 2: and I want to make sure, God forbid, that will
- 22:22Speaker 2: never happen. But, you know, I want to know where
- 22:24Speaker 2: my child is. But I don't clock them.
- 22:27Speaker 1: I don't know how these kids do it. Like, when
- 22:28Speaker 1: I was a kid, I would disappear. Me too. I'm
- 22:31Speaker 1: a burner phone, I think. Hey, Mom, this is my GPS. Oh, yeah, nothing.
- 22:35Speaker 1: I'm just divvying out.
- 22:36Speaker 2: Our parents threw us out of the house and told us,
- 22:38Speaker 2: don't come back until it's dark outside.
- 22:40Speaker 1: Oh, God.
- 22:40Speaker 2: They would forget that we were outside.
- 22:42Speaker 1: We had a commercial that said.
- 22:44Speaker 2: It's 10 o'clock, so you know where your kids are.
- 22:46Speaker 1: That's what it is. We don't care. Don't come back.
- 22:52Speaker 1: We still lock the door. Don't come back till it's
- 22:54Speaker 1: dark out. I don't know. He said he went out.
- 22:56Speaker 1: He's out with his friends. Yeah.
- 22:58Speaker 2: They would have no idea what we were doing.
- 23:00Speaker 1: Well, check the other Anthony's house. I think he's over there.
- 23:02Speaker 2: They could care less. And like I said, the boomers,
- 23:05Speaker 2: they could care less what we were fucking doing.
- 23:07Speaker 1: They want to know.
- 23:08Speaker 2: They could care less what was going on. But my kids, like,
- 23:12Speaker 2: they clock where I am.
- 23:13Speaker 1: They're like, why are you downtown right now? What are
- 23:15Speaker 1: you doing? Are you fucking kidding me? Like, it's none
- 23:17Speaker 1: of your business.
- 23:18Speaker 2: It's none of your business. I feel like they're my
- 23:21Speaker 2: parents because I have a 35, a 27, and a 21.
- 23:24Speaker 2: So they're like knocking me.
- 23:27Speaker 1: There you go.
- 23:27Speaker 2: It's so annoying.
- 23:29Speaker 1: So you're lucky right now that your kids are young.
- 23:31Speaker 1: They're not bothering you. And I love that part of
- 23:33Speaker 1: my life. I love my kids. That's not a me
- 23:35Speaker 1: like I want to be around them constantly. Like I
- 23:37Speaker 1: was going to take them here today. I told you yesterday.
- 23:39Speaker 1: I would have loved to meet them. It just didn't
- 23:40Speaker 1: work out.
- 23:41Speaker 2: Joe, are you guys going to have any more or
- 23:44Speaker 2: is that it?
- 23:44Speaker 3: No.
- 23:45Speaker 1: I got the old snips there. I'm out. No more
- 23:47Speaker 1: kids after 40. That's it. That's it. No more. You're done.
- 23:51Speaker 1: Every time, like, it's just... Whatever was in there is
- 23:55Speaker 1: a sniper, right? Of course. It's a problem. Oh, boy.
- 24:05Speaker 1: Shots fired. I'm out. And no more bullets. That's it.
- 24:11Speaker 2: Listen, three is a good number.
- 24:12Speaker 1: Yes, no. Three is good. Yeah, I think it's a
- 24:14Speaker 1: good one. And you have... I have a seven-year-old, a four-year-old.
- 24:18Speaker 1: I have two boys, and the baby's a girl. Okay,
- 24:21Speaker 1: that's good. So she's got two older brothers. Yeah, that's good.
- 24:24Speaker 2: That's not good for her.
- 24:25Speaker 1: It's not the older brother. The middle one's going to
- 24:27Speaker 1: be the... I always say this. The oldest one we're
- 24:30Speaker 1: saving tuition for, the middle one we're saving bail money for,
- 24:33Speaker 1: because that kid's going to be a problem. Oh, my God.
- 24:38Speaker 2: We say that about my little one. But, like, she's
- 24:41Speaker 2: definitely going to chill.
- 24:42Speaker 4: Yes.
- 24:43Speaker 2: She's definitely that one. The other two was angels.
- 24:46Speaker 1: The little one, the same thing. He does. So different.
- 24:50Speaker 1: And then he imitates everything I say, like, in traffic. Like,
- 24:56Speaker 1: you get cut off by somebody. He's like, this guy's
- 24:58Speaker 1: a douchebag. Three days later, that guy's a douchebag, Dad. Thanks, four-year-olds.
- 25:03Speaker 1: Everybody's going to love that when you get to school. Hey,
- 25:06Speaker 1: you know what?
- 25:07Speaker 2: You're a douchebag.
- 25:08Speaker 1: It's on the teacher. Thanks. Listen, you're saying how it is. Listen,
- 25:14Speaker 1: you got to be able to believe in... You guys,
- 25:17Speaker 1: I think, would talk about it. I'm old school with
- 25:19Speaker 1: a lot of things. I'm going to be a little stern.
- 25:24Speaker 1: I'm not going to beat my kids or anything. No, exactly.
- 25:27Speaker 1: But they're going to get hit on the ass if
- 25:29Speaker 1: they're being out of control. Absolutely. They're not going to
- 25:32Speaker 1: backtalk their mom. They're not going to do anything else
- 25:34Speaker 1: like that. You know, they're taught to protect each other.
- 25:38Speaker 1: You know, but if they get into a fight with
- 25:39Speaker 1: each other and I tell them to stop fighting and
- 25:41Speaker 1: one of them gets hurt, I really don't.
- 25:43Speaker 2: Care what that hurt is.
- 25:45Speaker 1: Sorry. Good luck, pal. You took that chance when you
- 25:48Speaker 1: started fighting. That's right. I'm the same way. You know
- 25:51Speaker 1: what I mean? But I'll tell you this.
- 25:52Speaker 2: The kids, you know, that don't get hit are the
- 25:56Speaker 2: kids that they fear you without hitting them.
- 25:58Speaker 1: They're raising baby Hitler. Right. It's like some of these
- 26:01Speaker 1: kids are out of control. Oh, my God.
- 26:04Speaker 2: I hate unruly kids.
- 26:06Speaker 1: I can't stand them. Like they scream at their parents.
- 26:08Speaker 1: My kids. Could you imagine screaming at your mother in
- 26:11Speaker 1: a supermarket? Never. No.
- 26:13Speaker 2: That would never happen.
- 26:15Speaker 1: In my house, you didn't have to worry about my dad.
- 26:18Speaker 1: My dad could guilt trip you into making you feel piffed. Okay,
- 26:21Speaker 1: he was excellent. My mom. My mom was a tough cookie.
- 26:26Speaker 1: My mom grew up with the Marlboro Project. Oh, shit.
- 26:29Speaker 1: She's just a tough, tough, tough cookie. You can't back
- 26:33Speaker 1: talk my mom.
- 26:34Speaker 2: Never.
- 26:34Speaker 1: I'm going to drag me out by my ear.
- 26:36Speaker 2: Never.
- 26:37Speaker 1: I approach you into this world. I'll take you out.
- 26:41Speaker 1: My mom said, I'll cut you a little hard out.
- 26:42Speaker 1: I'm telling you right now. I can do it in my...
- 26:45Speaker 1: I can make another one of you. No, I've never
- 26:46Speaker 1: had one. Say, hang out more with me. It's a... Never. Never.
- 26:51Speaker 1: I would never. But you know what?
- 26:53Speaker 2: My father never hit me one time, but I would never.
- 26:57Speaker 1: I would be.
- 26:58Speaker 2: I'm not... I respected him. Not that I was scared
- 27:01Speaker 2: of him, but I respected him because I know he
- 27:04Speaker 2: meant business. Yeah.
- 27:05Speaker 1: You didn't... That's what it was. My dad meant business.
- 27:08Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 27:08Speaker 1: So like, my dad was always cool. I got one
- 27:13Speaker 1: beaten from my dad. It was so well-deserved. Mine was too.
- 27:17Speaker 1: I got kicked out of school. So I lived in Brooklyn,
- 27:21Speaker 1: and I went to Stettin. I went to Monsignor Farrell.
- 27:23Speaker 1: My parents wanted me to go to Catholic, so I
- 27:25Speaker 1: went to Monsignor Farrell. I got kicked out. Because you
- 27:27Speaker 1: didn't want to be there. Part of it was me
- 27:29Speaker 1: not wanting to be there. Part of it was I
- 27:31Speaker 1: was always partly a wiseass. I'm so, you know, the
- 27:35Speaker 1: dean goes, you got detention. I'd be like, okay. I
- 27:38Speaker 1: wouldn't show up to detention. He'd come down the next day.
- 27:40Speaker 1: And he'll be like, now you didn't go to that one.
- 27:42Speaker 1: You got five more. And I would just look him
- 27:44Speaker 1: in the face. If I didn't go to the first one,
- 27:45Speaker 1: I'm not going to the next five. I'm not going
- 27:47Speaker 1: to any. You can just multiply them. It doesn't matter.
- 27:49Speaker 1: I'm not going. It's like your bed done. Give me
- 27:53Speaker 1: another one. Yeah, you know. That's another. And then, so
- 27:56Speaker 1: when I got kicked out, I didn't even tell my
- 27:58Speaker 1: parents that I got kicked out of school. I thought, like,
- 28:00Speaker 1: as if they weren't going to call. They weren't going
- 28:02Speaker 1: to find out that you got thrown out. Like, they
- 28:03Speaker 1: weren't going to figure it out. I walk in through
- 28:05Speaker 1: the front door.
- 28:05Speaker 2: Sometimes you don't think things through when you're in.
- 28:07Speaker 1: And I walk in through the front door whistling.
- 28:09Speaker 2: Okay?
- 28:10Speaker 1: Whistled. I love how my sister tells this story. I
- 28:14Speaker 1: walk in through the front door whistling. The fruit bowl
- 28:17Speaker 1: came flying at me. I got hit with the fruit
- 28:19Speaker 1: bowl the minute the door opened. Your mama? Fruit bowl.
- 28:23Speaker 1: My father. Oh, shit. And my father, and then he
- 28:26Speaker 1: proceeded to beat me up a little bit and turned
- 28:27Speaker 1: around and like, I disown you now.
- 28:29Speaker 2: Because you embarrassed him at school.
- 28:31Speaker 1: I had to come here the next day and it
- 28:32Speaker 1: was fine. You know what I mean?
- 28:33Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 28:34Speaker 1: It was deserved. It was deserved. I didn't even tell
- 28:37Speaker 1: them I got kicked out of school. You came in whistling.
- 28:40Speaker 1: I left him whistling like there wasn't a problem. Yeah.
- 28:43Speaker 2: That's kind of what happened when I got my father's belt.
- 28:46Speaker 2: I did set my neighbor's backyard on fire, though. That
- 28:49Speaker 2: was then. Yeah.
- 28:53Speaker 1: Maybe I shouldn't have did that.
- 28:54Speaker 2: And thrown water balloons on the oncoming traffic on a
- 28:57Speaker 2: major intersection.
- 28:59Speaker 1: I wouldn't have said water balloons. I threw rocks. That
- 29:00Speaker 1: probably wasn't good. Good idea.
- 29:04Speaker 2: It was a well-deserved beating.
- 29:06Speaker 1: I don't know. That's what kids did when they didn't
- 29:09Speaker 1: have phones. That's what we did. We hung out, and
- 29:13Speaker 1: sometimes we got in trouble.
- 29:15Speaker 2: Yes. A lot of times we didn't because, like, I
- 29:17Speaker 2: know my parents didn't know what the hell we were doing.
- 29:19Speaker 1: They had no clue. My parents knew what we were
- 29:22Speaker 1: doing to an extent, but once I hit, like, 13, 14,
- 29:26Speaker 1: and now it's like you don't exactly tell them everything
- 29:29Speaker 1: you're doing all the time. Of course not.
- 29:32Speaker 2: I'm not going home and saying, yeah, you know, I
- 29:33Speaker 2: slept in Bowery Park last night because I was in
- 29:35Speaker 2: the limelight.
- 29:37Speaker 1: Yeah, right. Let's go.
- 29:40Speaker 2: I can't even believe I look back on it. But
- 29:44Speaker 2: I base it off my kids. Like, I can't imagine
- 29:47Speaker 2: my daughter Ava at 14 years old going to a
- 29:50Speaker 2: club and sleeping in Battery Park. First of all, they
- 29:54Speaker 2: would not know how to navigate the way it was
- 29:56Speaker 2: in the city back then down there.
- 29:57Speaker 1: Did you do limo parties? We used to do limo parties.
- 30:00Speaker 1: I used to do limo parties. We used to take
- 30:02Speaker 1: limos to the city. Yes, we did that. On, like,
- 30:04Speaker 1: random days with our friends.
- 30:06Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 30:06Speaker 1: And go to the club. And have them drive us around.
- 30:09Speaker 1: And they would drive us around. We took a limo
- 30:11Speaker 1: to McDonald's one night.
- 30:14Speaker 2: We did that. We used to rent hotel rooms, like
- 30:17Speaker 2: the three-hour ones, and we would all go in there.
- 30:20Speaker 2: This was when we were like 17, 18. And we
- 30:22Speaker 2: would all, two people go and rent it, and then
- 30:24Speaker 2: we would pile everybody into the rooms and just have
- 30:27Speaker 2: parties in there. Finally, they got wise to it because
- 30:30Speaker 2: they put locks on the windows so we couldn't get
- 30:32Speaker 2: them in.
- 30:33Speaker 1: To the Cross Bay Motor Inn anymore. Cross Bay Motor Inn.
- 30:36Speaker 1: And Surfside.
- 30:38Speaker 2: So that's why they put the bars on the window
- 30:40Speaker 2: because of us. So why they're there now was because
- 30:43Speaker 2: we would open the window and then all of a
- 30:44Speaker 2: sudden there'd be a hundred people in this room this size.
- 30:48Speaker 1: This size and a stage.
- 30:49Speaker 2: Yep.
- 30:50Speaker 1: So funny.
- 30:50Speaker 2: But we made our own fun.
- 30:52Speaker 1: That's what you had to do. Right?
- 30:54Speaker 2: If we had cameras, we'd be in big trouble.
- 30:57Speaker 1: We would have been in prison. Most likely in jail.
- 31:00Speaker 2: We would be in lunatic silence.
- 31:05Speaker 1: We would be in major therapy if they saw what
- 31:07Speaker 1: we were doing. It was a different world. Different world.
- 31:12Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 31:15Speaker 1: Fantastic.
- 31:17Speaker 2: So are your kids going to go to, are you
- 31:20Speaker 2: going to keep them in public school?
- 31:22Speaker 1: My kids are in cat school. My oldest, my four-year-old
- 31:25Speaker 1: starts next year. And then my oldest is already in
- 31:29Speaker 1: Catholic school by me. I went to Catholic school. Yes.
- 31:31Speaker 2: I was in Catholic school. I went to Catholic college.
- 31:34Speaker 1: So I went to public. Then I went to St.
- 31:35Speaker 1: Francis Cabrini in Brooklyn. Then I went to Farrell. I
- 31:38Speaker 1: picked out a Farrell. Then I went to public school.
- 31:41Speaker 1: Then I went to do YouTube after that. Got kicked
- 31:43Speaker 1: out of work.
- 31:46Speaker 3: Yep.
- 31:46Speaker 1: That was that. And that was it. That was it. Now,
- 31:49Speaker 1: what would you do if.
- 31:51Speaker 2: See, with me, I'm that parent that when they do
- 31:53Speaker 2: something funny, I laugh.
- 31:54Speaker 1: I can't help it. Oh, my God. My father has
- 31:57Speaker 1: laughed at so many things I've done in school. There
- 32:00Speaker 1: were so many things that I should have gotten in
- 32:01Speaker 1: trouble for that he found was way too funny.
- 32:03Speaker 2: Because it was too brilliant to not laugh at it.
- 32:06Speaker 1: I had a teacher one time that was making an
- 32:08Speaker 1: example out of me in class because I was talking
- 32:10Speaker 1: to something like that and, like, using me, like, saying...
- 32:14Speaker 1: Don't be like him, this, that, the other thing. And
- 32:16Speaker 1: she turned her back. And she always put my desk
- 32:20Speaker 1: in front of hers. That is a problem.
- 32:22Speaker 2: Sounds like me.
- 32:23Speaker 1: To this day, when I walk into a room, I
- 32:25Speaker 1: never go sit in the back somewhere. I'll sit right
- 32:28Speaker 1: in the front because that's where I'm used to sitting.
- 32:31Speaker 1: And she put me right next to the window. She
- 32:33Speaker 1: turned her back and I started throwing her supplies out
- 32:35Speaker 1: the window. That's a fucking lady. You got to make
- 32:40Speaker 1: an example. Now I'll give you a reason to make
- 32:42Speaker 1: an example on me. I love that. I was a menace.
- 32:52Speaker 2: It's great.
- 32:53Speaker 1: I love that. See, I would laugh at you if
- 32:55Speaker 1: you were my kid. So my dad finds out about
- 32:58Speaker 1: things like that and I tell him the story. He's like, ah,
- 33:00Speaker 1: she deserved it. And then he's like, how'd you get caught?
- 33:03Speaker 1: I was just seeing me throwing her supplies out the window.
- 33:06Speaker 1: I got exaggerated. Yeah.
- 33:07Speaker 2: You know, I, you know, I, I, sometimes they did fun.
- 33:12Speaker 2: My spelling little one did funny shit and they would pick,
- 33:15Speaker 2: they would bother her because I wasn't that mother that
- 33:18Speaker 2: was home every day. Like I wasn't like a PTA mom.
- 33:21Speaker 2: I wasn't with all the mothers cause I worked. So
- 33:24Speaker 2: they would kind of not pick on her, but single
- 33:27Speaker 2: her out because I wasn't there like in the school
- 33:29Speaker 2: every day, like the other mothers would be. So she,
- 33:33Speaker 2: I was glad when she used to like be, you know,
- 33:36Speaker 2: obnoxious with teachers or whatever. So yeah. They call us
- 33:39Speaker 2: up to school one day and the principal's like, she
- 33:41Speaker 2: drew something in the schoolyard about this teacher.
- 33:45Speaker 1: And this teacher was such an asshole. I don't even
- 33:47Speaker 1: know what she said.
- 33:48Speaker 2: But she drew a picture of him outside, like, in
- 33:50Speaker 2: the schoolyard so everybody could see it.
- 33:53Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 33:54Speaker 2: She points, so he says, so he says to me
- 33:56Speaker 2: and my ex-husband, go outside and look at what she did.
- 33:59Speaker 2: So picture she's at that door and we're here and
- 34:02Speaker 2: we're just sitting there and we're reading it and we're
- 34:05Speaker 2: shaking hysterical way.
- 34:09Speaker 1: I'm like, oh my God.
- 34:11Speaker 2: I'm turning around and I'm like, oh my God, I'm
- 34:14Speaker 2: so sorry.
- 34:16Speaker 1: So that kind of stuff. Dying. The same way. So
- 34:20Speaker 1: I also got in trouble. I hid behind a door
- 34:22Speaker 1: for an entire day. An entire day. And I popped
- 34:25Speaker 1: out like 10 minutes before we were leaving. Like, I
- 34:28Speaker 1: knew I was going to get in trouble. I did
- 34:29Speaker 1: it anyway. Like, I mean, we got in class. Nobody
- 34:31Speaker 1: knew I was there. I went behind the door. The
- 34:33Speaker 1: whole class knew I was there.
- 34:34Speaker 2: What, you sat there the whole day?
- 34:36Speaker 1: They never closed the door on the classroom. Do you
- 34:39Speaker 1: know how hard it is to go through the... They
- 34:40Speaker 1: never thought to close the door once. I was behind
- 34:43Speaker 1: it for six hours.
- 34:45Speaker 2: When they didn't know you were in school, they.
- 34:46Speaker 1: Couldn't find you. I was crippled at the end of
- 34:48Speaker 1: the day. My legs were cramped. Six hours behind the door.
- 34:51Speaker 1: They never closed the door all day. I thought at
- 34:53Speaker 1: some point in the middle of the day. You just
- 34:55Speaker 1: wanted to pretend like you weren't there. It's just a
- 34:57Speaker 1: pain in the ass. So I made time go by. See,
- 35:02Speaker 1: the problem with me was I was always a good
- 35:03Speaker 1: test taker. So I didn't really fail things.
- 35:05Speaker 2: Right.
- 35:06Speaker 1: Like I couldn't, I could pick up stuff, just look
- 35:08Speaker 1: at it for a little while and I'll pass a test.
- 35:10Speaker 1: I've been that way. I'll get passed on a test.
- 35:13Speaker 1: It's all right. So. And then when we went to
- 35:15Speaker 1: high school, when I was in high school, if you
- 35:17Speaker 1: passed the region, you passed the class. Yeah, that's it.
- 35:20Speaker 1: So when I found that out, it's like, oh, I
- 35:22Speaker 1: can cut two months of chemistry, show up at the region? Right,
- 35:24Speaker 1: and pass. That's exactly what I did. I didn't go
- 35:27Speaker 1: to chemistry class, okay? I came back for the last
- 35:30Speaker 1: month or whatever, but leading up to it, because I
- 35:33Speaker 1: got caught mostly, not because I wanted to. And they
- 35:36Speaker 1: turned around and told me I had to do a
- 35:37Speaker 1: science fair project. I did the science fair project, and
- 35:40Speaker 1: I won the science fair. So now the school had
- 35:43Speaker 1: to cut me a check for winning the science fairs.
- 35:47Speaker 1: And then they didn't want me to go to the
- 35:48Speaker 1: district because they didn't want to have to put my attendance,
- 35:51Speaker 1: my records up there because they would have seen that
- 35:53Speaker 1: I didn't go to the fucking class. Then I went
- 35:57Speaker 1: and took the region, got an 85 on the region.
- 35:59Speaker 1: And that was it. They didn't have a choice. Oh
- 36:02Speaker 1: my God. I love that. That's so funny. Like I
- 36:04Speaker 1: always tried to bend the rules on my favor. Are
- 36:09Speaker 1: you being serious? And you know what?
- 36:11Speaker 2: If your son or your daughter's like that, you'll be
- 36:14Speaker 2: right behind them laughing with them probably.
- 36:16Speaker 1: It makes it easy to find out because I kind
- 36:18Speaker 1: of did what they did. So I see them doing it.
- 36:20Speaker 1: And it's like, well, you're going to pass that one
- 36:22Speaker 1: on me? You're not going to get that one passed
- 36:23Speaker 1: on me. You've got to work harder. Yes.
- 36:27Speaker 2: They think they can pass it off, but I said,
- 36:29Speaker 2: you know, when you're a bad kid, you kind of
- 36:32Speaker 2: know what they're doing. I tell my kids, you're not
- 36:34Speaker 2: getting nothing over on me.
- 36:36Speaker 1: Yeah, you know, when they hit you with words like,
- 36:37Speaker 1: you know, maybe you should do this. Like, they're trying
- 36:39Speaker 1: to lead the conversation into making you do something. It's like,
- 36:42Speaker 1: you don't think I know what you're doing? Yeah, of course.
- 36:44Speaker 1: You're not getting candy before dinner. All right? It's not happening.
- 36:47Speaker 1: It's just not happening.
- 36:50Speaker 2: My kids make fun of me because I'm like, all right,
- 36:52Speaker 2: we are going to go outside and clean up the yard.
- 36:55Speaker 2: They're like, mom, we know that doesn't mean we.
- 36:57Speaker 1: That means us. I go, yes, it's exactly what it means.
- 36:59Speaker 1: I can't wait for that day. I'm so sick of
- 37:01Speaker 1: cleaning up my yard. There are so many toys all
- 37:04Speaker 1: over my yard.
- 37:05Speaker 2: Oh, my God.
- 37:05Speaker 1: No, and they're old.
- 37:06Speaker 2: And then they can drive you around when they get
- 37:08Speaker 2: their license. But you have to make sure they know
- 37:09Speaker 2: how to drive because they used to scare the shit
- 37:11Speaker 2: out of me when they first drove.
- 37:13Speaker 1: Oh, my God. I think every parent is going to
- 37:15Speaker 1: go through that.
- 37:15Speaker 2: So, that's scary. But, like, now they could drive me around.
- 37:18Speaker 1: Which is great. My dad, I think the only person
- 37:19Speaker 1: he's comfortable behind the wheel with at this point is me.
- 37:22Speaker 1: That's it. It's only me at this point. My sister's
- 37:25Speaker 1: older than me. My brother, the same thing, is like,
- 37:32Speaker 1: I'm not getting the fuck a car with this kid.
- 37:33Speaker 2: Where do you rank?
- 37:37Speaker 1: I'm in the middle, kid. That's why.
- 37:41Speaker 2: And my middle daughter is a fucking hilarious.
- 37:43Speaker 1: My maniac is my middle kid. Yeah. They're so funny. Yeah.
- 37:46Speaker 1: They are.
- 37:47Speaker 2: They're like, they do the funniest thing with these kids.
- 37:49Speaker 1: They go out of their way to torture and just
- 37:51Speaker 1: pull pranks on each other. I love it. I love that. Oh, that's.
- 37:55Speaker 1: And that's it. That's it. And they're tight though. They're tight.
- 37:57Speaker 1: But that's good. That's the way they should be. You know,
- 37:59Speaker 1: but they're going to fight. Of course they are. That's
- 38:01Speaker 1: what they do. They fuck each other.
- 38:03Speaker 2: They fight.
- 38:03Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 38:03Speaker 1: I rough house with them too, which I think is
- 38:05Speaker 1: super important. Rough housing. Yeah.
- 38:06Speaker 3: I can't.
- 38:07Speaker 1: I can't. you know, push that enough is that you
- 38:10Speaker 1: need to rough house with your boys. If you have sons,
- 38:13Speaker 1: you have to rough house with them a little bit.
- 38:15Speaker 1: You have to. I agree with that. I love that.
- 38:17Speaker 2: I see you're, you're an old school thinker too.
- 38:20Speaker 1: I like that. No, I'm, I'm very much family oriented.
- 38:23Speaker 1: Everything's about doing stuff with my family and like, I
- 38:26Speaker 1: joke around, I kid, but I take a lot of stuff,
- 38:28Speaker 1: like everything that goes on my house, I take seriously.
- 38:31Speaker 1: You know what I mean? Like I worry about everything
- 38:33Speaker 1: they do, what they're doing, where they're going. It's just
- 38:35Speaker 1: not like when we were kids. No, it's not. Now
- 38:38Speaker 1: I could never imagine letting my son go outside and just, yeah,
- 38:42Speaker 1: go ride your bike wherever you're going to ride your bike.
- 38:45Speaker 1: It's like, what?
- 38:46Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 38:46Speaker 1: Like I was doing that. Yeah, I was too.
- 38:49Speaker 2: I was getting on the train at seven years old.
- 38:52Speaker 1: My mother didn't know. Eight years old.
- 38:54Speaker 2: I remember getting on the train with a bunch of kids.
- 38:56Speaker 2: We just decided to go on the train.
- 38:57Speaker 1: Yep. They didn't know.
- 38:59Speaker 2: I have no idea what they're doing.
- 39:01Speaker 1: But it's true.
- 39:01Speaker 2: But they're savvy in other ways than they are. Because
- 39:03Speaker 2: they're not as street smart as we are. I think
- 39:06Speaker 2: it's society. I think that's what it is.
- 39:09Speaker 1: I think it's the time and era in which they
- 39:11Speaker 1: grow up. It's society. It's all of that. It's not
- 39:13Speaker 1: just one thing. No. It's not just one thing. But
- 39:17Speaker 1: I always try to push some of it. It wasn't
- 39:21Speaker 1: all bad. Not everything we did was bad. I wasn't
- 39:24Speaker 1: the greatest kid on the face of the earth. Listen,
- 39:27Speaker 1: the only thing we did was bad. We just had
- 39:29Speaker 1: respect for anybody older than us. Could you imagine ever
- 39:31Speaker 1: talking bad to somebody's mom or doing something like that? No.
- 39:35Speaker 1: Any way, shape, or form? Like, even the teacher that
- 39:37Speaker 1: I threw out her supplies, I was nice to her
- 39:39Speaker 1: when I was talking to her. But then she pissed
- 39:41Speaker 1: me off that day. Her rule is outside. I was good.
- 39:45Speaker 1: That's so funny. So, you know, that sort of stuff.
- 39:48Speaker 1: You know, you treat everybody with respect. Yeah. And that's
- 39:51Speaker 1: what you should do.
- 39:52Speaker 5: Oh, yeah.
- 39:52Speaker 3: You know, like, when I was in high school, I
- 39:54Speaker 3: had it where, like, I had a few teachers who
- 39:55Speaker 3: just did not like me. However, though, they did say
- 40:01Speaker 3: to my mother, like, your son probably treats you with
- 40:04Speaker 3: the most respect out of all the children in the class.
- 40:08Speaker 3: And so my mother goes, she goes, you know, he.
- 40:14Speaker 5: Goes, you know, he literally tells me, He doesn't like you. Meanwhile, though,
- 40:19Speaker 5: he literally says, I really don't like your son. My
- 40:24Speaker 5: mother goes, oh, I can sugarcoat it. She goes, he
- 40:25Speaker 5: literally said to me, I really don't like your son. However,
- 40:28Speaker 5: out of all the children in my class, he's probably
- 40:32Speaker 5: the one who shows me the most respect.
- 40:34Speaker 1: I've had very few teachers that I knew. I have
- 40:37Speaker 1: teachers that follow me now on Instagram that I was
- 40:40Speaker 1: cool with.
- 40:41Speaker 2: Well, as much as you think that you gave them trouble,
- 40:43Speaker 2: they probably thought you were funny, too.
- 40:45Speaker 1: I hear about everything I did, but there was some
- 40:49Speaker 1: things that I just did that way. So I have
- 40:51Speaker 1: friends who were teachers.
- 40:51Speaker 4: Or a joke.
- 40:52Speaker 1: I was never trying to be malicious or trying to
- 40:55Speaker 1: hurt anybody or anything else like that. It was just
- 40:57Speaker 1: for a laugh. Do you know what I mean? It's
- 40:58Speaker 1: so funny. I love that. That's good. But it's true.
- 41:01Speaker 2: I mean, my friends are teachers and they'll tell me
- 41:04Speaker 2: they're like, sometimes you don't want to.
- 41:07Speaker 1: She's my friend and a principal.
- 41:09Speaker 2: And she says, Jen, sometimes they say the funniest things
- 41:11Speaker 2: and I have to be there mad at them. But
- 41:14Speaker 2: I go home or I start laughing.
- 41:16Speaker 1: I can't. It's brilliant and it's so funny. Some of
- 41:19Speaker 1: them are just going to hit you that way. Yeah.
- 41:21Speaker 1: And they're going to remember you. Yeah. And that's why
- 41:23Speaker 1: they remember you because you probably made their day.
- 41:25Speaker 2: As much as you think like, you know, maybe you're
- 41:27Speaker 2: not in trouble. They probably liked you the best.
- 41:30Speaker 1: I know sometimes I made these people. I know for
- 41:34Speaker 1: a fact I did. They could pretend they were men,
- 41:37Speaker 1: but they just did what they had to do because
- 41:39Speaker 1: they had to enforce the fucking rules. They didn't want
- 41:42Speaker 1: to get you. No, a lot of them didn't want
- 41:44Speaker 1: to get me. But they had to because... Even in
- 41:45Speaker 1: high school, that happened to me. It's so funny.
- 41:48Speaker 2: Well, I'm so glad that we, like, you're in our
- 41:52Speaker 2: crew now.
- 41:52Speaker 1: I love this. I'm looking forward to this contest.
