- 2:07Speaker 3: You are a bundle of just so much, just positive,
- 2:12Speaker 3: beautiful energy and joy.
- 2:14Speaker 2: Your smile is contagious than you guys so much.
- 2:17Speaker 3: You know, this is our first time meeting face to face.
- 2:21Speaker 3: I know, yeah, our dads, you know, our good friends,
- 2:26Speaker 3: they hang out and so if I feel like I've
- 2:28Speaker 3: known you, known about you, so just meeting you, I'm like,
- 2:32Speaker 3: you're gorgeous.
- 2:33Speaker 2: I'm just staring at you like you are so sweet.
- 2:36Speaker 2: Said you guys are Amazonian? She did say, she did.
- 2:41Speaker 2: I felt so short.
- 2:42Speaker 1: When I walked in, and then you're always glad that
- 2:45Speaker 1: we were, like.
- 2:45Speaker 2: We're normal.
- 2:47Speaker 3: It's just I have on I decided upon on the
- 2:51Speaker 3: six inch you know on top.
- 2:53Speaker 4: That or six to one, right, which I love it,
- 2:57Speaker 4: but you make up in other areas.
- 3:00Speaker 3: I'm a good five two and that's okay. And that's okay,
- 3:03Speaker 3: that is okay. So we have you here because we
- 3:06Speaker 3: just would love to hear your story and just your
- 3:09Speaker 3: perspective of being born into a life where again you're
- 3:13Speaker 3: your father is such a legend in his respective industry,
- 3:18Speaker 3: Oh my gosh. And I know there's so many viewers
- 3:21Speaker 3: who again, it's it's easy for people to know your.
- 3:24Speaker 2: Dad, google him. You just we see him all the time, but.
- 3:28Speaker 3: We don't really get to see a product of him,
- 3:31Speaker 3: his daughter, you know. And so we want to get
- 3:34Speaker 3: to know you and talk about what you're doing and
- 3:38Speaker 3: where you're going and who.
- 3:39Speaker 2: You are becoming. Is that okay? Yes, we'll have good time.
- 3:45Speaker 3: So first question is just what was it like growing
- 3:48Speaker 3: up with the Cedric the entertainer as your dad?
- 3:52Speaker 2: Like who is he?
- 3:55Speaker 1: Well? You know what's so funny is that I actually
- 3:58Speaker 1: don't think I realize my dad's stardom until like way
- 4:03Speaker 1: later in life. Like it was not something that like
- 4:07Speaker 1: and I don't understand how I didn't like pick up
- 4:10Speaker 1: on it.
- 4:10Speaker 2: Yeah, I have no clue how I.
- 4:12Speaker 1: Didn't pick up on that maybe until I think it
- 4:16Speaker 1: was around the time he got a star on the Hollywood.
- 4:19Speaker 2: Walk and that was what age were you?
- 4:25Speaker 1: I think I had to have been like thirteen maybe, yeah, yeah,
- 4:32Speaker 1: I think I was probably like eighth grade ish ure.
- 4:36Speaker 1: I think, you know, at the time, like Netflix had
- 4:40Speaker 1: just started to do comedy specials like that was starting
- 4:43Speaker 1: to happen, and.
- 4:44Speaker 2: He was he got his, and I was like, wait,
- 4:46Speaker 2: dad has a comedy special. You're like, what you've been doing?
- 4:49Speaker 2: I know, I haven't.
- 4:50Speaker 1: Comedy had no I like, no idea. It didn't like
- 5:02Speaker 1: register to me, like and you know, I think sometimes too,
- 5:06Speaker 1: I kind of felt like I knew that like he
- 5:10Speaker 1: was in like the comedy world and like we would
- 5:12Speaker 1: go to like premieres and things. But I always kind
- 5:14Speaker 1: of felt like he was like black famous because.
- 5:16Speaker 2: You know, there's what you mean black famous, so like.
- 5:20Speaker 3: But can't elaborate what is black famous.
- 5:24Speaker 1: Like there's there's certain celebrities and icons that are only
- 5:29Speaker 1: exclusive to the black community.
- 5:31Speaker 2: Like so you didn't realize he was global.
- 5:35Speaker 1: That we reached like outside of like people of our demographic.
- 5:39Speaker 3: Yeah, like but even when he's in your life, Okay,
- 5:43Speaker 3: you're thinking, he's.
- 5:44Speaker 2: The black celebrity, right, how did that make you feel
- 5:47Speaker 2: just even knowing?
- 5:49Speaker 3: I know it sounds it sounds crazy, but you still
- 5:52Speaker 3: know that he's a celebrity of some sort, right, Yeah,
- 5:55Speaker 3: how so how does that make you feel?
- 5:57Speaker 2: Like? But it's it's normal, I guess to you. Yeah,
- 6:00Speaker 2: it was always very normal.
- 6:02Speaker 1: And I don't think I think my parents did such
- 6:05Speaker 1: a good job at keeping because I'm the baby. There's
- 6:07Speaker 1: three of us, and I think that they did a
- 6:11Speaker 1: really good job at keeping us all super humble and
- 6:15Speaker 1: we didn't make our dad like an appendage to our
- 6:19Speaker 1: personality and like his stardom and you know, clothes and
- 6:25Speaker 1: vacations and cars and this, Like I don't think we
- 6:28Speaker 1: understood truly the monetary value of it all. I think
- 6:34Speaker 1: my mom was just really focuses on us being kids,
- 6:37Speaker 1: and so along with that, she really didn't want us
- 6:42Speaker 1: in the limelight too much, Like she really didn't want
- 6:45Speaker 1: us to be.
- 6:47Speaker 2: You know, the celebrity, the celebrity kid.
- 6:50Speaker 1: Yeah, she tried us to really keep us away from that.
- 6:55Speaker 1: Of course, like we would go to like I have
- 6:57Speaker 1: like my oldest memories are like sitting in backstage of
- 6:59Speaker 1: like calm the shows, and that was want to ask you, yeah,
- 7:02Speaker 1: and like you know, just running around backstage and doing
- 7:04Speaker 1: things like that. But I was always with my mom, always, always, always, always,
- 7:08Speaker 1: always okay, and so it just kind of felt like
- 7:11Speaker 1: how you go to the playground, like it was just
- 7:14Speaker 1: a part of.
- 7:14Speaker 2: My your everyday routine.
- 7:16Speaker 1: Yeah, it was like on the weekend, will be at
- 7:18Speaker 1: the forum, Like I don't know, and to me, it
- 7:20Speaker 1: wasn't the Forum five. It was like, you know, just
- 7:24Speaker 1: some place where Dad's working. It hadn't computed like that.
- 7:27Speaker 1: And I was just you know, playing with blocks and yeah,
- 7:30Speaker 1: that was almost like it hadn't really gone there yet.
- 7:34Speaker 2: But when I realized I.
- 7:36Speaker 1: Had watched, well, I had watched like some of his movies.
- 7:40Speaker 1: I had watched Johnson Family Vacation. That was the only
- 7:43Speaker 1: one I was allowed.
- 7:44Speaker 2: To watch that movie. Why is it so good? We
- 7:47Speaker 2: love that? You know it actually is right?
- 7:51Speaker 4: Or were movie dorks like that is one of them
- 7:54Speaker 4: that we will turn that on just because it's a
- 7:57Speaker 4: Tuesday and so else do.
- 8:00Speaker 3: But I want a classic to lie, yeah, and we'll
- 8:02Speaker 3: turn it on.
- 8:03Speaker 2: It's so fantastic.
- 8:04Speaker 3: I mean, first of all, bow Wow, It's like Okay, lo, why, like,
- 8:08Speaker 3: who didn't have a crush on bow Wow though?
- 8:11Speaker 2: Real did? Yeah?
- 8:12Speaker 3: Yeah bow Wow Salon, Yes, like the community our it.
- 8:18Speaker 2: Was just absolutely amazing young Jason momoo okay, like wo wow.
- 8:24Speaker 2: Yeah it was. It's it's an amazing, an amazing, amazing film.
- 8:27Speaker 1: And so that was the only one I could watch
- 8:30Speaker 1: because it was like his most like childish film.
- 8:32Speaker 3: And what year did that? Because I want to link
- 8:34Speaker 3: the age because we're about a decade. We're not going
- 8:38Speaker 3: to reveal our age, but we're at least a decade
- 8:40Speaker 3: older than you, and that movie came out when we.
- 8:43Speaker 1: Were two thousand and five, I think. Yeah, so you
- 8:46Speaker 1: saw it for the first time. Okay, I was born
- 8:49Speaker 1: in two thousand and three, right, So.
- 8:51Speaker 2: What came out when you were a baby? So you
- 8:53Speaker 2: saw it? She is a baby, a beautiful baby. So
- 8:57Speaker 2: you saw it at what age for the first time?
- 8:59Speaker 1: Like maybe too young? Like maybe like six or seven? Okay, okay,
- 9:06Speaker 1: it was It was absolutely the first movie that I
- 9:08Speaker 1: saw of his for the first time.
- 9:10Speaker 2: And then what did you feel when you saw him
- 9:13Speaker 2: on TV? Yeah? I think I just.
- 9:16Speaker 1: Felt I think it was exciting. Yeah, yeah, it was
- 9:19Speaker 1: absolutely exciting. I was accustomed to seeing him live perform,
- 9:24Speaker 1: but like seeing him on film was so cool.
- 9:27Speaker 2: Yeah, and like you know, seeing him really like act,
- 9:30Speaker 2: like I thought that was interesting. Yeah. But then like
- 9:33Speaker 2: it also like I remember because you know, he has
- 9:35Speaker 2: a whole different family like in the in the movie
- 9:39Speaker 2: in the movie.
- 9:40Speaker 1: Yeah, and so it's so funny to see him like
- 9:43Speaker 1: play dad on screen.
- 9:45Speaker 2: Because he's my dad, right.
- 9:46Speaker 1: So it's just like, I don't know, it's kind of
- 9:48Speaker 1: silly because like you would never say that.
- 9:51Speaker 3: Any similarities that you would see on camera and you're
- 9:54Speaker 3: looking in real life like you don't do this, you know.
- 9:57Speaker 1: But you know what actually, now that I think about it,
- 9:59Speaker 1: So in in Johnson Family Vacation, he's kind of like
- 10:03Speaker 1: type A about them traveling.
- 10:04Speaker 2: Yes, and my dad is absolutely like that. We call
- 10:08Speaker 2: him traveling like he has to be like on time.
- 10:11Speaker 1: He's actually thats hilarious and we all know we're like, oh,
- 10:16Speaker 1: travel Man's coming out because he like needs everything it
- 10:20Speaker 1: has to be on time, like the eye ten by ten,
- 10:22Speaker 1: Like that's so him, Like they're so him his favorite
- 10:26Speaker 1: they say that still ten I know he'll say church
- 10:30Speaker 1: on the move and that means like, okay, we have
- 10:31Speaker 1: to all start walking now, like it's time to go.
- 10:34Speaker 1: He needs like all of his things carried, like he
- 10:37Speaker 1: needs like he he just needs all the things he
- 10:40Speaker 1: has to be in some type of like lage. He's
- 10:43Speaker 1: like it's a whole situation and he's like any complications,
- 10:47Speaker 1: that's hilarious.
- 10:48Speaker 2: It does. It sounds just like my father.
- 10:52Speaker 3: But I was going to ask you, do you think
- 10:53Speaker 3: that is something viewers would be surprised to know about
- 10:57Speaker 3: your dad, that he is very structured, and you know
- 11:00Speaker 3: it so.
- 11:01Speaker 4: Funny, like I would never think, yeah, he's pretty chill,
- 11:06Speaker 4: like most of the time.
- 11:07Speaker 1: It's just when he's traveling, but typically it's because he
- 11:10Speaker 1: has like somewhere to be, like work. But I think
- 11:13Speaker 1: because we I mean, I'm like the most type B person, Okay, like.
- 11:18Speaker 2: I'm super organized, but I'm like, I don't know.
- 11:21Speaker 3: Like let's just like wherever the wind blows, That's where
- 11:24Speaker 3: I'm gonna be exactly.
- 11:26Speaker 1: And I think me and my aunt are the only
- 11:29Speaker 1: people that are like that. But we're also the most adventurous.
- 11:33Speaker 1: So we travel alone a lot, and like we actually
- 11:35Speaker 1: just took a trip to Asia where we just we
- 11:37Speaker 1: didn't have any like places to stay.
- 11:40Speaker 2: We didn't have any visas.
- 11:41Speaker 1: We were like, let's just go good for y'all, let's
- 11:44Speaker 1: just go.
- 11:48Speaker 3: We're actually and we just show up with no itinerary.
- 11:52Speaker 3: No hotel would break me out though.
- 11:53Speaker 2: No. I was like, okay, girl, we have to figure out. Yeah,
- 11:56Speaker 2: the hotel was, but we did. It's like the type
- 11:58Speaker 2: of thing. It's like, we'll find it when we get there.
- 12:00Speaker 1: Like we're just so we're so spontaneous, so I think,
- 12:05Speaker 1: but my dad can't roll like that. He needs to know, okay,
- 12:08Speaker 1: what's going on only with the travel, Okay, once he
- 12:10Speaker 1: gets where he's going out in.
- 12:12Speaker 2: The streets, he's just you know, outside. So, was humor
- 12:15Speaker 2: part of your home life? Like? Was he funny at home?
- 12:18Speaker 2: Would he ever run jokes by you at home? Any
- 12:21Speaker 2: jokes on each other? Y? Okay?
- 12:25Speaker 3: Okay, one any joke that he says and you're like, Dad, no,
- 12:29Speaker 3: that's a corny dad joke, you know what.
- 12:32Speaker 1: Very rarely he knows that it's corny okay. But and
- 12:36Speaker 1: I'll just be like, okay, dad, Like all right, But
- 12:40Speaker 1: I always tell everyone my mom is way funnier, is
- 12:44Speaker 1: she She's absolutely ridiculous.
- 12:47Speaker 2: She's hilarious.
- 12:49Speaker 1: And I think that's why they're so in love is
- 12:52Speaker 1: because I think they bonded over humor.
- 12:54Speaker 2: Over humor, and.
- 12:56Speaker 1: So he like he'll like still a lot of his
- 13:00Speaker 1: jokes from her because she's absolutely ridiculous, like as in
- 13:09Speaker 1: just you know, her little ad libs around the house,
- 13:12Speaker 1: like whatever she does.
- 13:14Speaker 2: She is clearly I'm like, we need the credits. Honestly.
- 13:18Speaker 1: He steals stuff from everything we say, like all of us,
- 13:21Speaker 1: Like he'll write about me all the time. He used
- 13:24Speaker 1: to write jokes about me in high school and things
- 13:27Speaker 1: I would say with my friends. And then I remember
- 13:31Speaker 1: one time he went on stage and he said to
- 13:33Speaker 1: somebody's name, and I was like, Dad, you can't say
- 13:36Speaker 1: their name, like because I couldn't be watching this office
- 13:39Speaker 1: and gossip with him.
- 13:40Speaker 2: That's our favorite thing to do.
- 13:41Speaker 1: Yeah, I'll like go and we'll like gossip about like
- 13:45Speaker 1: what's happening at my school or here here, my roommates, whatever,
- 13:49Speaker 1: And then he'll go on stage and say verbatim. When
- 13:52Speaker 1: I said, I was like, Dad, you cannot Oh.
- 13:54Speaker 2: My god, I would be mortified.
- 13:55Speaker 3: He'll be like, yeah, Lucky's friend.
- 13:59Speaker 2: She Dad, you cannot say that.
- 14:01Speaker 4: So does he run like his jokes past you when
- 14:03Speaker 4: they're about you.
- 14:04Speaker 2: No, he does never. Oh.
- 14:06Speaker 3: He said, I'm gonna do what I want to do.
- 14:09Speaker 3: Y'all just gonna have to laugh when I say it.
- 14:10Speaker 1: Yeah, No, and he never does. But after that then
- 14:13Speaker 1: he doesn't do that anymore. But actually, on his Netflix special,
- 14:17Speaker 1: and I was so mad at him because I was
- 14:18Speaker 1: ridiculed for months, he has a joke where I asked
- 14:21Speaker 1: him if animals commit suicide?
- 14:23Speaker 2: And I did not ask him, and I'm actually glad I.
- 14:26Speaker 1: Can set the record straight. He said that you said
- 14:28Speaker 1: you asked him. He was like, Oh, I have this daughter.
- 14:31Speaker 1: She's really smart and really like weirdly curious, and she
- 14:34Speaker 1: asked me if animals commit suicide. Of course, he says
- 14:37Speaker 1: it in some like, you know, hilarious way, and it
- 14:39Speaker 1: like goes into all this other stuff. But I remember
- 14:43Speaker 1: going to school, and I think I was in the
- 14:45Speaker 1: eighth grade, like going to school afterwards, and my teacher's being.
- 14:48Speaker 2: Like, look, you think animals commit suicide? And I was like,
- 14:52Speaker 2: I did not say, look at that camera right there.
- 14:56Speaker 2: I never said that.
- 14:57Speaker 1: I actually think my brother asked him that, and then
- 15:00Speaker 1: he just used my collateral.
- 15:04Speaker 2: Right.
- 15:05Speaker 1: I only had a joke about my brother, so he
- 15:07Speaker 1: was like, I have to throw lucky in there. I
- 15:09Speaker 1: did not say that. I'm glad you can set the
- 15:11Speaker 1: record straight. Animals can commit suicide.
- 15:16Speaker 3: Her brother will, I will say it's an interesting I mean,
- 15:19Speaker 3: I mean, it's it's I.
- 15:23Speaker 2: Will say that. But girl, you clear the air period.
- 15:30Speaker 2: It seems like you have but it.
- 15:32Speaker 3: Seems like you you inherited a little bit of his personality,
- 15:36Speaker 3: Like you're bubbly, you know, you have joy, like you
- 15:39Speaker 3: have great energy. Is there anything else you think you
- 15:42Speaker 3: inherited from your dad?
- 15:44Speaker 1: I am ridiculously funny, I will say that.
- 15:48Speaker 2: I'll agree, I don't agree.
- 15:51Speaker 1: I am super funny, I do think, and he knows
- 15:55Speaker 1: I'm really funny too.
- 15:57Speaker 2: But I think we both have an ability.
- 16:02Speaker 1: To just like yap like we we're big chatters. And
- 16:05Speaker 1: my dad's super super charming, and I think I definitely
- 16:10Speaker 1: got that from him. He's really outgoing, like kind of
- 16:12Speaker 1: like talk to anybody, kind of guy. My mom is
- 16:15Speaker 1: really really shy. She's you know, insane, but she loves.
- 16:22Speaker 2: Each other. Ye she's she also has.
- 16:25Speaker 1: That ability to talk to anyone, but she is quite
- 16:27Speaker 1: like timid and shy, and she is such a behind
- 16:30Speaker 1: the scenes person. She would never be able to be
- 16:33Speaker 1: on camera, kind of like how I am a little
- 16:35Speaker 1: bit too. We would never know a morph a little bit.
- 16:40Speaker 1: But people always ask me, They're like, oh, are you
- 16:43Speaker 1: an actress.
- 16:44Speaker 2: Or do you model? Or you in entertainment at all?
- 16:48Speaker 1: And I'm like, no aspirations, No, that is not that's
- 16:52Speaker 1: just simply not for me.
- 16:54Speaker 2: I really shouldn't. You're comfortable behind the camera. I just
- 16:58Speaker 2: thank you.
- 16:58Speaker 1: I always tell people I shouldn't have be in front of.
- 17:00Speaker 2: Well, we can't say shouldn't because you you look amazed.
- 17:03Speaker 2: You look amazing. It's not where you want to be. Yeah,
- 17:08Speaker 2: that's much more.
- 17:09Speaker 1: My brother okay, he's like, so he should be an actor,
- 17:14Speaker 1: he's like extremely talented. But that's just not It just
- 17:19Speaker 1: was never mind calling. So what's you have?
- 17:21Speaker 2: How many siblings? I have an older sister, Okay, how
- 17:24Speaker 2: old is she?
- 17:25Speaker 1: She's about thirty. I can never tell. I'm like, is
- 17:29Speaker 1: she thirty five?
- 17:30Speaker 2: I think she's thirty five once she passed thirty at all.
- 17:33Speaker 2: It's all the same.
- 17:34Speaker 1: She'd kill me if I say that she's she's older.
- 17:37Speaker 2: She's at the oldest. She's the oldest. My brother is
- 17:40Speaker 2: twenty five.
- 17:41Speaker 3: Questions.
- 17:42Speaker 2: Okay, I was like, why don't I know my siblings aged?
- 17:44Speaker 2: I mean, because it's a it's a blur. Yeah, I
- 17:47Speaker 2: barely know Min. He's three years older than me and.
- 17:49Speaker 3: Two Okay, yeah, okay, how is Dad with dating?
- 17:53Speaker 2: Is he you know what? Oh? Actually he's really good.
- 17:57Speaker 1: Okay, yeah he's not like, no, he's the best. He's
- 18:01Speaker 1: like the sweetest man, he really is. He's such like
- 18:04Speaker 1: a little teddy. I was about to say he really is.
- 18:07Speaker 1: Like every time I see Cedric, I'm like, he's like the.
- 18:10Speaker 2: Most gentle like, coolest guy. I'm obsessed with him.
- 18:13Speaker 1: But he has always been really cool with dating. I
- 18:17Speaker 1: think he's I also claim that I have a really
- 18:21Speaker 1: great picker, like I've never had any bad boyfriend.
- 18:25Speaker 2: Now do a pretty good job. That means you're just
- 18:27Speaker 2: a good judgment of characters.
- 18:29Speaker 1: Yeah, I have a lot of discernments to learn that.
- 18:33Speaker 2: You learn that from your parents, you.
- 18:34Speaker 1: Think, definitely? Okay, yeah, definitely from my parents. I also,
- 18:37Speaker 1: my mom's my best friend.
- 18:38Speaker 2: I tell her everything. Okay, And so I mean we
- 18:42Speaker 2: like judge together like someone.
- 18:45Speaker 1: I love it how to feel it, you know, but
- 18:49Speaker 1: I also just kind of feel it.
- 18:51Speaker 2: I'm like I don't think. So do you ever go
- 18:54Speaker 2: to Dad for advice? Always good? Literally always. I call
- 18:58Speaker 2: him all the time. I'm for relationship advice. I call
- 19:02Speaker 2: him all the time for everything.
- 19:03Speaker 3: We have a daddy's girl another no, real bad. We
- 19:06Speaker 3: attract daddy's girls real bad, real bad.
- 19:08Speaker 1: And he's like they have a running joke like my family,
- 19:13Speaker 1: if my dad's not picking up the phone, they'll be like, look,
- 19:15Speaker 1: you call him because he'll always always pick up the phone.
- 19:18Speaker 1: And like I called him the other day because I
- 19:21Speaker 1: was like.
- 19:21Speaker 2: I need to change my oil and I have no clue.
- 19:23Speaker 1: Like just girl problems. I'm like, I don't know what
- 19:27Speaker 1: I'm like what I do? And I called him and
- 19:29Speaker 1: he was on set taping and I was like, or
- 19:32Speaker 1: like sometimes he'll be.
- 19:33Speaker 2: In a table and I'll be like, okay, Dad go
- 19:35Speaker 2: to work, but like what do I do? Like do
- 19:37Speaker 2: I go to Costco? Like you know, just I'm ridiculous
- 19:39Speaker 2: And that will never change.
- 19:40Speaker 3: Yeah, n years from now, twenty years from now, it
- 19:43Speaker 3: will never change. You will always be his baby girl,
- 19:47Speaker 3: I know always.
- 19:48Speaker 2: I love that, like yeah yeah yeah for me. Yeah,
- 19:52Speaker 2: but he is pretty chill with dating.
- 19:54Speaker 1: He'd like will always give like, you know, a good
- 19:56Speaker 1: stern talk.
- 19:57Speaker 2: Yeah, but he's pretty chill.
- 19:59Speaker 1: I think he trust my my Yeah, I think he
- 20:02Speaker 1: trusts my.
- 20:03Speaker 2: My decisions and he's just like, she'll be fine. Distment
- 20:06Speaker 2: is a big word. It is a discernment. Yeah, and it.
- 20:09Speaker 4: Only gets I'll say, I don't want to say worse,
- 20:11Speaker 4: but it only gets stronger and straight older. It does
- 20:14Speaker 4: discernment and then you're like, dang, I hate that I
- 20:16Speaker 4: know this, but I know this, so is like it's
- 20:21Speaker 4: a gift actually especially yeah, a spiritual gift.
- 20:24Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, actually at your age. Yeah.
- 20:27Speaker 1: I consider myself to be quite intuitive, which is a
- 20:30Speaker 1: correct I mean I definitely.
- 20:32Speaker 2: Have made like a handful, like not even hand a
- 20:35Speaker 2: bunch of.
- 20:35Speaker 3: Mistakes, which is that will continue to like I'm twenty two, yeah, yeah,
- 20:40Speaker 3: exactly exactly.
- 20:41Speaker 2: And I'm like I was, I, you know, never know
- 20:44Speaker 2: what I'm doing.
- 20:45Speaker 1: But I feel like my parents are so amazing because
- 20:49Speaker 1: they've given me the space to like make my own
- 20:51Speaker 1: mistakes and mess up and then always like help me
- 20:55Speaker 1: pull me back up, like make me feel you know, better.
- 20:58Speaker 2: But my dad is really great with you advice. He
- 21:00Speaker 2: really helps me out.
- 21:01Speaker 3: What's the best advice he's just giving you just about
- 21:03Speaker 3: life that you in business, Yeah, that you carry.
- 21:08Speaker 2: I think.
- 21:12Speaker 1: I mean he I go to him for a lot
- 21:14Speaker 1: of business advice, okay, because I mean Baman does not quit,
- 21:18Speaker 1: Like he has so many different businesses and like streams
- 21:22Speaker 1: of income, and I just it's so mind boggling to me.
- 21:26Speaker 1: He's definitely like one of the hardest working people I know.
- 21:29Speaker 1: He's always always always working. And I think that's another
- 21:33Speaker 1: thing I got for him, Like that industrious kind of mindset,
- 21:36Speaker 1: Like he's always thinking about the next thing. He's always
- 21:39Speaker 1: thinking about like a way to tweak this or tweak that,
- 21:44Speaker 1: or like an avenue into a certain industry or like
- 21:48Speaker 1: he's just his mind is always kind of.
- 21:50Speaker 2: And that has influenced you and how you've used this.
- 21:56Speaker 2: My mom is the same way.
- 21:58Speaker 1: She's like a very like turn nothing into something type
- 22:00Speaker 1: of person, and she has like really amazing ideas like
- 22:05Speaker 1: where I'm like, I don't even know how you thought
- 22:06Speaker 1: about Like they're just really creative people. But I think
- 22:12Speaker 1: he has taught me the most just to create things
- 22:15Speaker 1: and create as it relates to my business.
- 22:18Speaker 2: That feels like me, So stay true to yourself.
- 22:24Speaker 1: I think in my early stages of you know, creating
- 22:29Speaker 1: businesses creating a business and just you know, thinking about
- 22:32Speaker 1: what I wanted to look like, what I wanted to be.
- 22:35Speaker 1: I was trying. I was focusing so hard on other
- 22:38Speaker 1: existing companies and seeing if I could mirror that or
- 22:42Speaker 1: mirroring what someone else liked or like what someone else,
- 22:47Speaker 1: you know, what I thought they wanted. And so I
- 22:51Speaker 1: mean that never works, and he just lets me know that,
- 22:55Speaker 1: like I'm a person who you know, has like you know,
- 22:59Speaker 1: energy that blur attracted to your enough, yeah, exact ideas,
- 23:04Speaker 1: exactly exactly, and it can just be like rooted in
- 23:07Speaker 1: me and it can just feel like lucky, and then
- 23:10Speaker 1: people will want.
- 23:11Speaker 2: To gravitated towards it.
- 23:13Speaker 3: And we're going to get into your business, absolutely, we
- 23:15Speaker 3: you know, we'll dive into just more about pressure and
- 23:18Speaker 3: expectations and just you know that and it naturally comes
- 23:23Speaker 3: and that naturally comes in this lifestyle, right, So we'll
- 23:26Speaker 3: dive into that.
- 23:27Speaker 4: But first we're going to get to know who you
- 23:29Speaker 4: are or who you were, I should say, as a kid.
- 23:33Speaker 4: So first I want to ask you what what three
- 23:36Speaker 4: words would you use to describe yourself as a child
- 23:39Speaker 4: or no, no, let's start with this now and then
- 23:41Speaker 4: we'll go backwards.
- 23:42Speaker 2: Okay.
- 23:43Speaker 1: Yeah, ah, I'll say I sound so narcissistic.
- 23:53Speaker 2: Okay, was about to I'll say intelligent.
- 24:00Speaker 1: I think charismatic would be the word I would use, and.
- 24:09Speaker 2: Mm hmmm mmmm, I think maybe like genuine Okay, yeah,
- 24:26Speaker 2: I love that. I'll say genuine.
- 24:28Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, I think that's me. Intelligent, intelligent. I
- 24:31Speaker 1: think I'm pretty smart.
- 24:32Speaker 2: No, you're very You're very smart.
- 24:34Speaker 3: Yeah, Intelligent, charismatic and genuine genuine.
- 24:38Speaker 2: Yes.
- 24:38Speaker 4: So then when we talk about lucky as a kid,
- 24:42Speaker 4: do you see yourself as you did, like as you
- 24:45Speaker 4: do now?
- 24:46Speaker 2: Then?
- 24:46Speaker 4: Can you can you see yourself that you were always?
- 24:49Speaker 4: Who are you going to become?
- 24:50Speaker 1: In some aspects? I was definitely I was a really
- 24:54Speaker 1: shy kid. I think that.
- 24:59Speaker 2: Well.
- 24:59Speaker 1: So for a little history, my brother and I first
- 25:03Speaker 1: language is both French.
- 25:05Speaker 2: Wow. So we went to a French immersion school in
- 25:09Speaker 2: La in La, Okay.
- 25:10Speaker 1: That's why we were born and raised right, Yes, we
- 25:12Speaker 1: are La down, Okay, and we went to a French
- 25:16Speaker 1: immersion school it's called Leila from k through second My
- 25:21Speaker 1: brother went a little longer, and so I think because
- 25:27Speaker 1: we went to that school, which was honestly the smartest thing.
- 25:29Speaker 1: I always say the best gift my mom gave me
- 25:31Speaker 1: was another language, because we're both still fluent, and it
- 25:36Speaker 1: was It's honestly the best best gift because she gave us,
- 25:39Speaker 1: you know the world in that way. I didn't realize
- 25:42Speaker 1: and I was so angry that we had to like
- 25:44Speaker 1: speak French.
- 25:45Speaker 2: I was like, this is so I appreciate it. I
- 25:47Speaker 2: appreciate it so much.
- 25:49Speaker 1: And I was also mad because I'm like, girl, we
- 25:50Speaker 1: live in California.
- 25:52Speaker 2: Where am I going?
- 25:53Speaker 1: And she was like, I just want you guys to
- 25:56Speaker 1: be different.
- 25:57Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 25:58Speaker 1: I just wanted something. And it's still to this day
- 26:01Speaker 1: when I say I speak French, everyone's.
- 26:02Speaker 2: Like, give us a low French.
- 26:06Speaker 3: I hate I I just I would love to just practice.
- 26:13Speaker 2: A little Sally Los Angeles and okay, I know a
- 26:24Speaker 2: little Frinch. I can. I think I can.
- 26:25Speaker 4: I can hear what my name is, Lucky, I'm from
- 26:28Speaker 4: Los Angeles, and say the last thing.
- 26:30Speaker 2: Again, I just said in French, what is it? I'm
- 26:37Speaker 2: happy to be here? Yes, wait, you understand France. Yeah
- 26:41Speaker 2: I didn't.
- 26:41Speaker 4: I didn't know that I spoke French for a long time.
- 26:43Speaker 4: You ate that I just can't speak it anymore. But
- 26:45Speaker 4: I can't understand it because I took French for a
- 26:47Speaker 4: long time too.
- 26:48Speaker 2: I used to know how to speak it. But when
- 26:49Speaker 2: you don't, you lose it.
- 26:51Speaker 3: You absolutely ate that. That was amazing, Thank you, Wait,
- 26:54Speaker 3: that was really I didn't know that. It sounds beautiful.
- 26:59Speaker 2: Have you been to France? Have you been there? Yes?
- 27:01Speaker 2: Many times. I know they love you. Yeah, yeah, I know.
- 27:06Speaker 2: And I love the.
- 27:07Speaker 4: Speak when you can speak, when you know you can
- 27:09Speaker 4: speak French, they love you.
- 27:11Speaker 2: She's gorgeous. Yeah, I know they love you. Period. I
- 27:14Speaker 2: know they love you. Yeah. I actually I love it.
- 27:17Speaker 1: I feel like it's kind of like a second home
- 27:20Speaker 1: because we also went to French school in France.
- 27:23Speaker 2: Oh for how long? Yes? Oh, I love the opportunity.
- 27:26Speaker 1: My mom would send us there every summer. Wow, so
- 27:29Speaker 1: she wasn't playing. So how many years did you go?
- 27:31Speaker 2: Every year?
- 27:32Speaker 1: When until I was eighteen? Wow, she was not playing
- 27:36Speaker 1: at all. She was like, yeah, it was like othering
- 27:43Speaker 1: but so fun. So I mean, well, we went to
- 27:46Speaker 1: the French preschool and I was crying and I both
- 27:50Speaker 1: were the only black kids as well as.
- 27:53Speaker 2: The only American kids.
- 27:55Speaker 1: So most people when they send their kids to an
- 27:57Speaker 1: immersion school. They're usually Francophonian, which means like their parents
- 28:01Speaker 1: are from some type of like French, like Canada or
- 28:04Speaker 1: the Caribbean or you know, some places in Africa or whatever.
- 28:08Speaker 2: Okay, most of those.
- 28:09Speaker 1: Kids' parents were French, but ours, like my mom's from
- 28:12Speaker 1: like my mom's from Englewood. So it's like she doesn't like,
- 28:16Speaker 1: you know, and I think we just kind of felt
- 28:20Speaker 1: a little othered. I definitely was othered, and so I
- 28:22Speaker 1: didn't make any friends, Okay, And to make you.
- 28:25Speaker 4: Feel, yeah, that's BI dive in to make friends like
- 28:29Speaker 4: that's hard.
- 28:30Speaker 2: I was also so shy, and so I just didn't.
- 28:33Speaker 1: I just didn't. Really, I just didn't have any friends.
- 28:36Speaker 1: I don't know if I necessarily if it if it
- 28:40Speaker 1: necessarily clicked to me like that. I was like, I
- 28:43Speaker 1: was very shy in public, but I was also a
- 28:45Speaker 1: really sprightly kid when I was at home, and I
- 28:47Speaker 1: always I'm always really happy, like, so I don't. It
- 28:53Speaker 1: wasn't anything that I really got down on myself. For
- 28:55Speaker 1: my mom is such a writer, and so she would
- 28:57Speaker 1: come to she would come eat lunch with me every day,
- 29:01Speaker 1: like every single day, and so I think that I
- 29:05Speaker 1: think that maybe mine tricked me into.
- 29:07Speaker 2: Not even realizing that I was friendless.
- 29:09Speaker 1: Okay, And then we had switched over to American school,
- 29:12Speaker 1: and so I felt a lot more at home at
- 29:15Speaker 1: home there, and yeah, like just kind of like blended
- 29:20Speaker 1: write in I was. I had started to like, you know,
- 29:22Speaker 1: become like a little bit more you know whatever.
- 29:25Speaker 2: But I was always.
- 29:26Speaker 1: Really a really curious child. I was always really artistic.
- 29:32Speaker 1: I was really into drawing, really into painting. I was
- 29:37Speaker 1: always I used to sculpt a lot.
- 29:41Speaker 2: I still do. I love sculpting.
- 29:43Speaker 3: Do you have some just in your home where you live,
- 29:46Speaker 3: just some of the designs, some things?
- 29:48Speaker 1: Yeah, I make little things. I used to make a
- 29:50Speaker 1: lot of humans. And I don't know why anyone didn't
- 29:53Speaker 1: think it was weird because I would.
- 29:55Speaker 2: Make like naked. I was weird.
- 29:58Speaker 1: I would because I mean there would be like body
- 30:00Speaker 1: parts and like eyeballs, and I'm not quite sure it
- 30:03Speaker 1: looked a little like strange if you saw it all
- 30:05Speaker 1: laid out. And I'm like, I don't know, I'm like seven,
- 30:08Speaker 1: So I don't know why anyone was like, why is
- 30:09Speaker 1: she like or like I used to draw as a
- 30:14Speaker 1: young person. I used to draw like naked people, and
- 30:17Speaker 1: no one thought to raise an eyebel, Like.
- 30:19Speaker 3: So interesting though, because that's such a young age, Like inatuation.
- 30:23Speaker 2: Came turned out really so cool just to know about
- 30:28Speaker 2: you because no one would ever think that. No one
- 30:31Speaker 2: raised eye. Everyone was like, oh, good job, Like, yeah,
- 30:33Speaker 2: you're being a creative self.
- 30:35Speaker 1: Yeah I don't like, I don't know, but yeah, always
- 30:39Speaker 1: very creative. I then got into dance. I was a
- 30:44Speaker 1: competitive dancer. Like my whole life. I was always like
- 30:49Speaker 1: singing and my mom was like, we need to get
- 30:52Speaker 1: this baby some singing classes, like she was. I just
- 30:55Speaker 1: I always like there was always some type of form
- 30:58Speaker 1: of art going on. But I think I really found
- 31:01Speaker 1: like my home in dancing, and then dancing became like
- 31:04Speaker 1: my life for.
- 31:05Speaker 2: Like a couple of years. I was absolutely obsessed with it.
- 31:08Speaker 1: But the French schools, like I was saying, she would
- 31:12Speaker 1: send us there every summer, or one summer we went
- 31:14Speaker 1: to Canada, we went to Montreal.
- 31:16Speaker 2: It just had to be a French speaking place.
- 31:19Speaker 1: And then she also always kept French inside the house,
- 31:22Speaker 1: so she would have someone come talk to us all.
- 31:26Speaker 2: Day every day.
- 31:27Speaker 1: So she basically made it so we only talked to
- 31:29Speaker 1: our parents in English.
- 31:31Speaker 2: Mama wasn't she was really not playing it.
- 31:33Speaker 4: But you have to do that because if you don't,
- 31:35Speaker 4: you will lose because you speak anymore. Because I got
- 31:40Speaker 4: out of practice of speaking. She was super Yeah, you
- 31:42Speaker 4: have to you have to do that. You have to
- 31:44Speaker 4: be immersed in the language to speak it like that,
- 31:46Speaker 4: like how she's speaking.
- 31:47Speaker 3: But now that, do you practice the same way or
- 31:49Speaker 3: now that it's it's pretty like engraved, and.
- 31:52Speaker 1: I don't practice the same way, I think I once
- 31:54Speaker 1: I got to college, I just because I'm my brother
- 31:57Speaker 1: and I don't live in the same house anymore, so
- 31:59Speaker 1: we didn't even speak to each other anymore. Occasionally I
- 32:02Speaker 1: would get on the front with phone with my French
- 32:04Speaker 1: friends and you know, have a conversation. But it's one
- 32:07Speaker 1: of those things now where it's like every time I
- 32:09Speaker 1: go there and I'm there for a couple.
- 32:11Speaker 2: Of days, it just kind of cops back.
- 32:13Speaker 1: Yeah, it's not really something I think about on the regular,
- 32:18Speaker 1: but I was always so upset that we would have
- 32:21Speaker 1: to because I mean, also in California, the other language
- 32:27Speaker 1: that you learn in school is usually Spanish, and so
- 32:30Speaker 1: I remember like we had to do like Spanish and
- 32:33Speaker 1: Latin classes and my mom told the school, They're like,
- 32:36Speaker 1: they're not doing that. She was like, they're going to
- 32:38Speaker 1: do French. And the school was like, oh, we don't
- 32:40Speaker 1: offer French, and she was like, no, my kids are
- 32:43Speaker 1: going to be doing French. So she anytime the whole
- 32:46Speaker 1: class would go in to take like their Spanish class,
- 32:49Speaker 1: we would go, do you know, we would go do French.
- 32:53Speaker 1: She would have someone come there and she was super
- 32:56Speaker 1: not playing Wow, like this.
- 32:59Speaker 2: Is so intriguing to you, because so what did that
- 33:02Speaker 2: teach you?
- 33:03Speaker 4: Just going through like learning French class, which is not
- 33:07Speaker 4: something I mean, we learned, we have French class in school,
- 33:09Speaker 4: but you were completely immersed in it. So that experience
- 33:13Speaker 4: and then the the lack of friendships, what did that
- 33:17Speaker 4: teach you about yourself?
- 33:18Speaker 2: I think? I mean, honestly, I feel like something.
- 33:25Speaker 1: My parents both instilled, both like into all of their
- 33:29Speaker 1: children was just that it's not that it's just okay
- 33:34Speaker 1: to be different, but that we were different. Okay, then
- 33:37Speaker 1: that we were because my mom made it so that
- 33:41Speaker 1: we were unique children. Yeah, And so while that was
- 33:46Speaker 1: something that you kind of feel like and I would
- 33:49Speaker 1: kind of get timid about telling people, I spoke French
- 33:51Speaker 1: or i'd get timid about telling people about, you know,
- 33:54Speaker 1: certain accomplishments or this or that.
- 33:58Speaker 2: My mom was just like, no.
- 33:59Speaker 1: That's something for you to be proud of, like run
- 34:02Speaker 1: from it. Yeah, it's absolutely something for you to be
- 34:04Speaker 1: proud of. It's like, even when I even in the
- 34:08Speaker 1: French school, being American, my mom, it was never a
- 34:13Speaker 1: thing of like, well, I'm without something.
- 34:15Speaker 2: It was just kind of like I'm i am just too.
- 34:21Speaker 1: It was always positioned in a way where it was
- 34:23Speaker 1: like I have something that someone else isn't understanding and
- 34:27Speaker 1: that's okay, you know, and like it never it never
- 34:31Speaker 1: made me feel super othered in that way because I
- 34:34Speaker 1: was just like, oh, it's just not for them to understand,
- 34:36Speaker 1: and it's not for me to try and get them
- 34:37Speaker 1: to understand, you know type of thing. And so it
- 34:41Speaker 1: wasn't really something I thought about too much. But I
- 34:45Speaker 1: think I've carried that along with me.
- 34:47Speaker 2: Is like I'm just.
- 34:49Speaker 1: I'm in the package that I'm in and it's not
- 34:52Speaker 1: for me to like make someone else.
- 34:55Speaker 3: And that's beautiful that you know that at such a
- 34:57Speaker 3: young age. Yeah, that's beautiful.
- 34:58Speaker 4: So when does Lucky feel the most free?
- 35:01Speaker 2: Oh, that's such a good question. Oh my god, M
- 35:07Speaker 2: on the dance floor. I don't know, Okay, I think
- 35:11Speaker 2: what do I feel the most free?
- 35:18Speaker 1: I mean I think I try. I try to wake
- 35:23Speaker 1: up and do my best and feel my best every
- 35:29Speaker 1: day for you in some type of little moment, and
- 35:32Speaker 1: like sometimes it's not like it might be like in
- 35:36Speaker 1: the car or you know, in between walking to classes
- 35:40Speaker 1: if I have like that one certain song on and
- 35:42Speaker 1: like I just you know, the energy felt right, or
- 35:45Speaker 1: you know, I meditate a lot. Sometimes it's when I'm meditating,
- 35:49Speaker 1: but I do try and chase that freedom every day.
- 35:52Speaker 2: I think, Yeah, good for you.
- 35:55Speaker 1: So it's not super designated to one one place. But yeah,
- 36:00Speaker 1: I'll say that.
- 36:01Speaker 3: I love that again so much. Wisdom's so yeah, I
- 36:07Speaker 3: was not. I didn't have that same mindset. It's beautiful.
- 36:11Speaker 4: Yeah, So tell us about some of the challenges that
- 36:14Speaker 4: you faced, you know, in your younger years of growing
- 36:18Speaker 4: up in the entertainer's household, right your mom. I mean,
- 36:23Speaker 4: I can tell, we can hear how your mom was
- 36:26Speaker 4: rearing both of you, know, your siblings and yourself, but like,
- 36:29Speaker 4: what is it like, what were some of the challenges
- 36:31Speaker 4: that you that you face that you can.
- 36:34Speaker 1: I think you got through you know what I feel like, Well,
- 36:41Speaker 1: there's definitely there's definitely the whole, you know, race bit
- 36:47Speaker 1: of it. I mean, we lived in the valley and
- 36:51Speaker 1: so because that, we went to a lot of predominantly
- 36:53Speaker 1: white schools, and that's.
- 36:55Speaker 2: Always its own thing, like being in.
- 37:00Speaker 1: You know, just spaces where you don't necessarily feel like
- 37:04Speaker 1: you fit in. Not just that you fit in, but
- 37:07Speaker 1: honestly like that you're kind of like token on it
- 37:09Speaker 1: that you're seeing that you're seeing too much, Okay, yeah, honestly,
- 37:12Speaker 1: like you're just kind of like you know, I remember
- 37:17Speaker 1: like people like playing with your hair, I know it's
- 37:22Speaker 1: so bad, and then feeling like feeling self conscious about
- 37:25Speaker 1: my hair.
- 37:26Speaker 3: They're feeling self conscious about your hair or I was,
- 37:29Speaker 3: oh you are feeling okay, gotcha?
- 37:31Speaker 2: Yeah, or just really you know, just different than yeah,
- 37:36Speaker 2: or just you know, things like that.
- 37:38Speaker 1: I mean I matured a lot younger than most people,
- 37:41Speaker 1: and then I would kind of feel like.
- 37:44Speaker 2: My hips are a little bigger than everybody.
- 37:45Speaker 1: Else's exactly, just like everything. I was like, okay, and like,
- 37:51Speaker 1: you know, because I like we were growing up in
- 37:55Speaker 1: that like that age of like the kim Ks and
- 37:57Speaker 1: like the Nicki Minaj. So it's like when I got
- 37:59Speaker 1: a button, like everyone it was everyone's like business and
- 38:02Speaker 1: it was interesting, you know. And then I felt I
- 38:05Speaker 1: was like, like, that's a little weird.
- 38:08Speaker 3: That's so interesting because it's polar opposite for us, because
- 38:11Speaker 3: I mean I grew up in Katie, Texas, where everyone
- 38:14Speaker 3: was this this big, very narrow, so you had hips
- 38:17Speaker 3: in a butt.
- 38:18Speaker 4: It's like it was weird. So I went to a
- 38:20Speaker 4: predominant white school. Yeah, in fifth grade, I got my
- 38:24Speaker 4: I just your hips. I was I was a rail
- 38:26Speaker 4: and then over the summer my hips and butts and
- 38:29Speaker 4: I got stretch marks.
- 38:30Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 38:31Speaker 4: And I remember I was like in the locker room
- 38:33Speaker 4: or the like swim parties, everybody was like looking at
- 38:36Speaker 4: me because everybody else was still you know, they were
- 38:38Speaker 4: white girls, so they were still laskinty, and I had
- 38:40Speaker 4: developed and they were looking at me like yes see,
- 38:43Speaker 4: And I felt I felt so horrible about myself because
- 38:46Speaker 4: I was like, why why do you have a button. Yeah,
- 38:49Speaker 4: like I have stretch marks. I'm like, I'm not grown,
- 38:52Speaker 4: but like it just happened overnight. And I remember feeling
- 38:55Speaker 4: like that. I remember feeling so horrible.
- 38:56Speaker 2: Yeah, and you just feel so one displayed.
- 38:58Speaker 4: Yeah, because and again there wasn't very many other black
- 39:01Speaker 4: black so it was no one else that could share that,
- 39:04Speaker 4: you know what I mean. So it was just like,
- 39:05Speaker 4: oh my god, yeah, yeah, it's it's a horrible feeling.
- 39:08Speaker 1: No, it was a very horrible feeling. And along with
- 39:10Speaker 1: that being a competitive dancer, like you have to like
- 39:13Speaker 1: change all the time in front of people in like
- 39:16Speaker 1: you know, random rooms and in cars like you know,
- 39:19Speaker 1: and my mom's the again that you're a little girl,
- 39:21Speaker 1: Like she's like, girl just changed, Like yeah, she would
- 39:23Speaker 1: tell me all you ain't not nothing, just change. But
- 39:26Speaker 1: you know you're feeling self conscious because we're like no,
- 39:28Speaker 1: I I have hips now, I don't know where those
- 39:30Speaker 1: came from. And just you know, it was just it
- 39:34Speaker 1: was it was a lot of things like that where
- 39:36Speaker 1: I was like, Okay, that's weird. I mean, as it
- 39:39Speaker 1: related to my dad, I don't think like any challenges
- 39:44Speaker 1: really surfaced for me. I mean definitely, I think the
- 39:49Speaker 1: only thing that I would when you have a famous parent,
- 39:54Speaker 1: you know, some.
- 39:54Speaker 2: People do treat you differently. They do.
- 39:57Speaker 1: It can be a little hard. I definitely I noticed
- 40:01Speaker 1: that more you know, kind of high.
- 40:04Speaker 2: School college age.
- 40:06Speaker 1: Definitely when I got to college though, that was like
- 40:08Speaker 1: so clearly evident. My best friend in my roommate, her
- 40:12Speaker 1: name is Raquel. Her name is Roquel Justice. She's David
- 40:16Speaker 1: Justice's daughter. Yeah, yes, she actually y'all would have loved her.
- 40:26Speaker 1: She's a mess, and so she you know, growing up
- 40:31Speaker 1: with and she's an actress. She just shout out, Roquel.
- 40:34Speaker 1: She just did Dexter. She just did Dexter. And she's
- 40:40Speaker 1: super talented. And she had a movie come out like
- 40:42Speaker 1: two years ago. It was actually a basketball movie.
- 40:46Speaker 4: Yes, I've always friendship.
- 40:51Speaker 1: But we definitely had a conversation. So her and I
- 40:54Speaker 1: met in high school and we became best friends, and
- 40:57Speaker 1: then we both took a gap year together.
- 40:59Speaker 2: We traveled the.
- 40:59Speaker 3: World and then young girls just take on the world.
- 41:04Speaker 1: And then we we decided to go to college together
- 41:08Speaker 1: and room together. And we had a conversation because I
- 41:13Speaker 1: was like, you know, nobody when we got there, nobody
- 41:17Speaker 1: knew we were coming. And because you know, when you
- 41:21Speaker 1: like go to college, they have like those Instagram pages
- 41:23Speaker 1: and you can meet people. We do that, and so
- 41:26Speaker 1: I think we I we just kind of had a
- 41:29Speaker 1: conversation of like, so I don't think anyone, no one knows.
- 41:32Speaker 1: And we came from I went to see our canyon
- 41:35Speaker 1: and high school in Chatsworth, and for anyone who knows
- 41:39Speaker 1: at school, that's like the celebrity kids school, And so
- 41:42Speaker 1: being a celebrity kid wasn't a big deal there because
- 41:45Speaker 1: like every dad is someone like I was in class
- 41:48Speaker 1: with like Scottie Pippens kids, and like you know, and
- 41:52Speaker 1: and Kevin Hart and you know, and just it was
- 41:56Speaker 1: not a big deal. But now we're transitioning into a
- 41:59Speaker 1: school experience where it is a big deal. Like people
- 42:03Speaker 1: have never met a famous person in their lives. So
- 42:07Speaker 1: we kind of were like, you know, we wanted to
- 42:10Speaker 1: build real connections, and it was important to both of
- 42:12Speaker 1: us that we didn't just stick together.
- 42:15Speaker 2: And golm onto one another.
- 42:16Speaker 1: Yeah, really wanted to make friends with people, and so
- 42:19Speaker 1: we made it a point not to talk about our
- 42:23Speaker 1: parents when we were, you know, talking to people. So
- 42:27Speaker 1: if someone would ask me like, oh, what do your
- 42:30Speaker 1: parents do, I'd be like, oh, my mom's a costumer,
- 42:34Speaker 1: Like I.
- 42:34Speaker 2: Never mentioned my dad.
- 42:36Speaker 1: Or if she if someone would ask her, she'd be like, oh,
- 42:39Speaker 1: my mom designs jewelry, you know, things like that, because
- 42:42Speaker 1: we just didn't want it to be a topic of
- 42:43Speaker 1: the conversation. And then obviously, like you know, month three,
- 42:47Speaker 1: people found out because like you exchange instagrams like you know, whatever,
- 42:51Speaker 1: it's your dad's birthday. Things happen, and you know, there
- 42:55Speaker 1: are the certain people that, like, you know, act like
- 42:57Speaker 1: they're a little closer to you than.
- 42:58Speaker 2: They actually are.
- 43:00Speaker 1: Name yeah, exactly, you know, get a little too excited.
- 43:04Speaker 1: I would have like people in high school that would
- 43:07Speaker 1: like like say, like keep on inviting themselves to my
- 43:12Speaker 1: home and like and I have an open house policy,
- 43:17Speaker 1: Like I'm so not that person, Like anyone can come
- 43:19Speaker 1: to my crib.
- 43:20Speaker 2: Like it's really not that, it's not that.
- 43:21Speaker 1: Deep, but it would be like a thing of like.
- 43:24Speaker 2: Because I didn't invite them.
- 43:26Speaker 1: They would tell people that I was having a party,
- 43:29Speaker 1: and then it'd be like eleven o'clock on a Thursday,
- 43:31Speaker 1: and there'd be a bunch of people outside my home.
- 43:33Speaker 2: And I'd be like, what's going on? So this is
- 43:35Speaker 2: a boundaries issue? Right?
- 43:37Speaker 4: Wait people, wait, hold on, wait, hold on, you're saying
- 43:41Speaker 4: that other people would invite themselves to her house?
- 43:45Speaker 2: Yeah, you knowing, Yes, yeah.
- 43:47Speaker 1: Just so that they could get to my house and
- 43:49Speaker 1: just say what would parent say? Like they would just
- 43:53Speaker 1: be like what's going on? And then I would explain
- 43:55Speaker 1: and they'd be like what, and then you know, party
- 43:58Speaker 1: was over.
- 43:59Speaker 2: But it seems like there's again people feeling like they
- 44:03Speaker 2: have they have the right to enter your space. Yeah,
- 44:08Speaker 2: there's no boundaries.
- 44:09Speaker 3: And so how knowing this and experiencing this, how did
- 44:13Speaker 3: you combat that? Because that's something I know I personally
- 44:16Speaker 3: have experienced a lot people just feeling like they have
- 44:18Speaker 3: the right, yeah, to be in your space and you
- 44:21Speaker 3: don't have the right to set up boundaries. Is that
- 44:24Speaker 3: something that you still deal with today? Is that hard
- 44:26Speaker 3: for you to do now?
- 44:27Speaker 1: It's definitely easier in college again, for sure because Raquel
- 44:33Speaker 1: and I are both like, you know, super opening people.
- 44:36Speaker 1: We were roommates and we were in a dorm and
- 44:40Speaker 1: so we were just kind of like leave the door open,
- 44:42Speaker 1: like everyone can come and hang like I'm not Like
- 44:45Speaker 1: it wasn't a thing of like, oh, they can't come
- 44:47Speaker 1: in my room. Like I was like no, like everyone
- 44:49Speaker 1: can come chill Like I'm super like talkative, like I'm
- 44:52Speaker 1: gonna talk to anyone.
- 44:53Speaker 2: Yeah, And so we would.
- 44:55Speaker 1: Get a little annoyed because in the moments where like
- 44:58Speaker 1: her and I just went into like watch a movie
- 45:00Speaker 1: and like just be alone, or like if I'm just
- 45:02Speaker 1: chilling in my room or whatever, then you know people
- 45:05Speaker 1: are knocking on your door like like are we Oh girl,
- 45:13Speaker 1: I won't say that, but but you know, people do
- 45:18Speaker 1: feel like at some point our dorm felt like a
- 45:21Speaker 1: communal space, like it was starting to feel like people
- 45:25Speaker 1: thought it was like the party room. It's like, oh,
- 45:27Speaker 1: you're just gonna go to Rock Cal and Lucky's and
- 45:28Speaker 1: you know, hang out, and it was super fun for
- 45:32Speaker 1: that time, but you know at other times it's like
- 45:34Speaker 1: I just need personal space.
- 45:36Speaker 2: Like is it hard for you to say no at.
- 45:38Speaker 1: That time, yes, okay, because I think I really was
- 45:42Speaker 1: eager to make friends. And also sometimes when you come
- 45:47Speaker 1: from you know, nice means or you were you know,
- 45:51Speaker 1: a celebrity child or whatever, people kind of think you're.
- 45:54Speaker 2: A person nickity or like they'll think ny is.
- 45:58Speaker 1: True, and so you want to overcomp and super nice
- 46:02Speaker 1: because it's so easy for people to be like she's
- 46:05Speaker 1: she's she stuck.
- 46:07Speaker 2: Up, she's not nice whatever, whatever.
- 46:10Speaker 1: And so I definitely at that time too, when people
- 46:13Speaker 1: were finding out that about me. Also, a lot of
- 46:16Speaker 1: the girls were not nice to me when I got
- 46:18Speaker 1: to college, and I've just kind of was like, you know,
- 46:23Speaker 1: I'm like killing with kindness type of person. So I
- 46:25Speaker 1: was always just you know, welcoming Lenda hand. But again,
- 46:29Speaker 1: when you're a celebrity, which I am not. But I
- 46:33Speaker 1: noticed from my father is that people feel like it's
- 46:37Speaker 1: so interesting that people do this, but they feel like
- 46:40Speaker 1: they have like.
- 46:43Speaker 2: They feel like they know you, like, you know, they
- 46:46Speaker 2: need to develop these parasocial relationships with you. They watch
- 46:49Speaker 2: you for years.
- 46:50Speaker 1: And so they feel like they know bits about your
- 46:52Speaker 1: life and you know, they feel like you know that
- 46:55Speaker 1: they can you know, you know, shoot the ship with
- 46:58Speaker 1: you and you know, fun at you and you know,
- 47:01Speaker 1: do whatever. And it's kind of like, okay, well you're
- 47:03Speaker 1: a stranger. Yeah, And like also they you know, there
- 47:08Speaker 1: isn't a lot of boundaries. I remember we were my
- 47:11Speaker 1: family took a trip to Morocco, and this was also
- 47:17Speaker 1: when I realized my dad was famous, because I was like,
- 47:18Speaker 1: we're in Morocco.
- 47:20Speaker 2: Who knows you in Morocco? Daddy is a big deal. Yeah.
- 47:23Speaker 1: I was like so what And this group of women
- 47:27Speaker 1: followed him into the bathroom.
- 47:28Speaker 2: No, they did not, they were She didn't.
- 47:32Speaker 1: Do anything, she just she was just in her salmon. No,
- 47:37Speaker 1: she they followed him into the bathroom, like banging on
- 47:40Speaker 1: his stall, like they were so excited. And my dad
- 47:45Speaker 1: is so chill because he always understands, like, you know,
- 47:47Speaker 1: people are excited, like this is their moment. But that's
- 47:51Speaker 1: like a crazy violation of personal space, Like that's actually wild.
- 47:54Speaker 2: You're not you do not have security. We were in Morocco.
- 48:02Speaker 1: I think, yeah, we did have security there, and so
- 48:05Speaker 1: they helped him, but it wasn't like the same way
- 48:09Speaker 1: where we would have had security in like the States. Okay,
- 48:12Speaker 1: but because it was just us like traveling. My brother
- 48:15Speaker 1: was living in Spain at the time, and so we
- 48:17Speaker 1: went to go visit him and then we took a
- 48:18Speaker 1: trip to Morocco. So it was kind of like on
- 48:20Speaker 1: a whim situation. Someone was there to help him. But
- 48:25Speaker 1: I was I was dumbfounded. I was like, oh my god,
- 48:28Speaker 1: my dad was really famous because I was like, we're
- 48:30Speaker 1: in Morocco. Who knows at But definitely that's kind of
- 48:34Speaker 1: the same thing of just like the crossing of boundaries
- 48:38Speaker 1: and you know, the other thing is like people feel
- 48:41Speaker 1: like they're entitled to that time because the moment is
- 48:46Speaker 1: so big for them. And so if we're having a
- 48:49Speaker 1: family dinner, you know, there will be times where like
- 48:52Speaker 1: my dad might have taken me to dinner and like
- 48:54Speaker 1: I'm trying to talk to him about something really serious,
- 48:56Speaker 1: or like I got in a fight with my boyfriend
- 48:57Speaker 1: and I need this thing, or I feel really ugly today,
- 49:00Speaker 1: like I have a pimple, and like someone just comes
- 49:03Speaker 1: up and interrupts, and you know, and it's never a
- 49:06Speaker 1: big deal, and I'm always super happy because you don't
- 49:09Speaker 1: know how long they've waited for that photo or like
- 49:12Speaker 1: that moment. But you know, it is kind of like
- 49:15Speaker 1: a it is kind of like a sobering moment. Sometimes
- 49:20Speaker 1: it like kind of brings you back into into reality.
- 49:25Speaker 1: But I think those would be the only challenges. It's
- 49:28Speaker 1: just definitely trying to find like genuine friendships for sure,
- 49:33Speaker 1: more so an issue when I got to college and
- 49:38Speaker 1: you know, like out in the world. And then yeah,
- 49:43Speaker 1: just the saying no thing for sure is a thing.
- 49:47Speaker 3: Something I I'm thirty about to be thirty five. I recently,
- 49:49Speaker 3: within like the last three years, learned how to do that.
- 49:52Speaker 2: Yeah, so you're hard. Yeah, but it's it's great that
- 49:55Speaker 2: you're learning now. Yeah, it's great.
- 49:57Speaker 4: Do you feel like people had assumptions about you because
- 50:00Speaker 4: of who your dad is, like who you would be become,
- 50:03Speaker 4: who you were who you become?
- 50:05Speaker 1: Certainly, yeah, definitely, definitely, definitely. I do think that.
- 50:09Speaker 2: People typically have like that kind of stuck up notion
- 50:13Speaker 2: stereot which is far thank you so much.
- 50:17Speaker 1: Yeah, But like I said, I'm just a kind of like, welp,
- 50:22Speaker 1: like I don't yeah, I don't need a I don't
- 50:27Speaker 1: need I don't need a lot of things. That also
- 50:30Speaker 1: comes up in dating a lot too, because you know,
- 50:36Speaker 1: my dad is a big gift giver and he's you know,
- 50:41Speaker 1: the best. But I think people feel like, you know,
- 50:43Speaker 1: you come from all this stuff and all the cars
- 50:47Speaker 1: and all of this, and so guys kind of get
- 50:49Speaker 1: intimidated that they can't give you that, and like, I'm
- 50:52Speaker 1: like that sounds terrible, but I'm a pretty cheap date.
- 50:54Speaker 1: Like I just want to be happy, Like I just
- 50:56Speaker 1: want to be happy and fed. And so if that
- 50:58Speaker 1: means you already you have, and so if that means
- 51:02Speaker 1: that the day is getting like those hot dogs from Costco. Yeah,
- 51:06Speaker 1: it's a beautiful day.
- 51:07Speaker 2: Dogs are so good. I have that, but they're so good.
- 51:10Speaker 3: But you said, you mentioned that being genuine is important
- 51:13Speaker 3: to you, So that is the most importantly.
- 51:15Speaker 2: It has nothing to do.
- 51:16Speaker 1: With the matial thing. No, it has nothing to do
- 51:18Speaker 1: with the material things at all. As long as it's heartfelt,
- 51:21Speaker 1: that's like the only thing I care about. So I
- 51:24Speaker 1: definitely do think that people, you know, have kind of
- 51:27Speaker 1: assumptions of me that I'll be a little stuck up,
- 51:29Speaker 1: or I'll need things to be happy, you know, a
- 51:33Speaker 1: certain way, or you know certain things are too good
- 51:37Speaker 1: for me or I'm too good for whatever, and I
- 51:40Speaker 1: just I never even think like that.
- 51:42Speaker 4: So would you ever like make the first move just
- 51:44Speaker 4: because you know, like you know, he's not you Just like, no,
- 51:48Speaker 4: you need to ask me, You.
- 51:49Speaker 2: Need I do a casion. Okay, I mean that's my girl.
- 51:59Speaker 1: I'm not if if the vibe weren't Yes, it's so
- 52:04Speaker 1: vibe dependent it is not.
- 52:08Speaker 2: I don't know that's trick. You wouldn't slide to the
- 52:10Speaker 2: d M. No, I can't do that. Okay.
- 52:16Speaker 1: I'm good with in person convos. I'm very much the
- 52:21Speaker 1: type of person like if I'm making like eye contact
- 52:24Speaker 1: with someone and they're not talking to me yet, Like
- 52:26Speaker 1: I'll just be like, what's your name?
- 52:27Speaker 2: Oh okay, yeah, the eyes a little bit. Yes, let's
- 52:31Speaker 2: just stop doing this, she said. Let's just it's ridiculous.
- 52:35Speaker 2: They don't know how to get it out. Helping them
- 52:38Speaker 2: out a little bit, let's just cut. Let's just cut.
- 52:40Speaker 3: I mean, you're stunnying. So I can understand that, even
- 52:42Speaker 3: people who don't know who your father is, like, you're stunning.
- 52:48Speaker 4: Yeah, she's yeah, soting. So you helping people out because
- 52:55Speaker 4: I know people that would be like, I don't care
- 52:56Speaker 4: if you can't speak to me.
- 52:57Speaker 3: It's like, oh my god, yeah star he just scar job.
- 53:02Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 53:02Speaker 1: I can kind of tell when when guys are afraid.
- 53:06Speaker 2: I kind of like when you're afraid.
- 53:08Speaker 4: So lucky, okay, lucky.
- 53:11Speaker 1: So yeah, I'll usually cut the attention. But I can't
- 53:14Speaker 1: slide into anything that's fair.
- 53:16Speaker 2: Yeah that's fair.
- 53:18Speaker 1: And I can only get to a certain point and
- 53:21Speaker 1: then I'll like stop trying.
- 53:22Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah, but I like to be approached.
- 53:25Speaker 1: I fear I think we all we all approach me please, Yeah,
- 53:29Speaker 1: that's part of I'll make it easy for you too,
- 53:32Speaker 1: and it's like men, that's part of your job.
- 53:35Speaker 2: That is your job.
- 53:36Speaker 4: Don't go And I know we're the women's movement and
- 53:39Speaker 4: all this, but some stuff needs to stay the.
- 53:41Speaker 2: Same exactly, exactly exactly. Yeah.
- 53:45Speaker 3: So you are a creator naturally it seems like about it,
- 53:50Speaker 3: and you're a dancer and you express yourself through creativity.
- 53:54Speaker 3: You have a lip glass line I do called pretty
- 53:57Speaker 3: Lucky Lips.
- 53:58Speaker 2: So what inspired pretty Lucky Lips? Well, I had.
- 54:05Speaker 1: Again, like I just there was always something creative happening
- 54:09Speaker 1: in the mix when I was much younger. So my
- 54:14Speaker 1: mom is a costumer and she really wanted That's actually
- 54:18Speaker 1: how my parents met. Oh yeah, they met on set
- 54:22Speaker 1: because I don't know what show it was, but my
- 54:24Speaker 1: dad was on a show and my mom was head
- 54:26Speaker 1: of costuming do and so she like put on his
- 54:30Speaker 1: jacket and my dad was like, you have all my
- 54:32Speaker 1: jacket and my mom.
- 54:34Speaker 2: Was like, it's my jacket.
- 54:36Speaker 1: I'm the head of costuming, and so that they kind
- 54:38Speaker 1: of like it's actually really cute. But so she, you know,
- 54:43Speaker 1: taught me how to sew. I would go to sewing
- 54:46Speaker 1: camps and she's like so.
- 54:49Speaker 2: Cool, honey, No, she really really does not. But she
- 54:54Speaker 2: had us in everything under my set. She was so serious.
- 54:58Speaker 2: She's like, you guys are gonna to be.
- 55:03Speaker 1: Something something, And she always tells me that I need
- 55:08Speaker 1: to have now. She always is like, you have to
- 55:10Speaker 1: have a job that AI can't take over. So she's like, yeah,
- 55:13Speaker 1: she always tells me that, always, always, always. She really
- 55:16Speaker 1: wants me and Raquel to go to Barbary school. She
- 55:19Speaker 1: wants us to be barbers because she's like, no robot
- 55:21Speaker 1: can be a barber.
- 55:22Speaker 2: I'm like, okay, it's true. But just the way that
- 55:24Speaker 2: she's thinking and the way that she is encouraging you,
- 55:27Speaker 2: she's forward thinking. She love it. She's the best. She's
- 55:30Speaker 2: literally it.
- 55:31Speaker 1: But I went to a lot of sewing schools and
- 55:34Speaker 1: I was always obsessed with skirts, so she was like, oh,
- 55:36Speaker 1: let's do a skirt line. And it was never something
- 55:39Speaker 1: that occurred to me, but I just thought it was.
- 55:43Speaker 1: I was really really young, and I thought it was
- 55:45Speaker 1: cool that I could have a line of things I made,
- 55:48Speaker 1: and so that kind of, you know, connected the business
- 55:52Speaker 1: juices flowing.
- 55:54Speaker 2: In my head. I always thought as I got older,
- 55:57Speaker 2: I always thought I was going to be a creative.
- 55:58Speaker 1: Director because I was obsessed with dance like it was
- 56:04Speaker 1: literally my whole life. I was a competitive dancer for years.
- 56:07Speaker 1: I had like won a bunch of titles. I choreographed
- 56:10Speaker 1: a lot of stuff.
- 56:12Speaker 2: I had like.
- 56:13Speaker 1: Guest choreographed, and you know, I had done a lot
- 56:16Speaker 1: of things. I was captain of the cheer team. I like,
- 56:20Speaker 1: I you know, used to style photo shoots for people.
- 56:25Speaker 1: I used to put together concepts for photo shoots. So
- 56:29Speaker 1: I always thought that would be my my eventual lane.
- 56:31Speaker 2: Like I would.
- 56:34Speaker 1: Creative direct, choreographed, you know, shows or music videos or something.
- 56:39Speaker 1: I didn't quite know how to make that a bit
- 56:43Speaker 1: like I had a business, how to make it a thing.
- 56:44Speaker 1: I didn't really know how to do it, but I
- 56:46Speaker 1: just knew I was good at it. I knew I
- 56:49Speaker 1: knew I was good at making things look nice. That
- 56:54Speaker 1: was the only thing that I I knew in my
- 56:57Speaker 1: head that I was really good at. And so I
- 57:00Speaker 1: took a my mom again. I'm so glad I can
- 57:06Speaker 1: talk about this now. But she would make us do
- 57:08Speaker 1: all these things, or I'd be.
- 57:09Speaker 2: Like this is pointless, like this is so useless.
- 57:12Speaker 1: I don't want to do that, And then later on
- 57:14Speaker 1: it's like the best thing I've gets the best thing
- 57:16Speaker 1: I did.
- 57:17Speaker 2: So I went to during COVID. I'm like miserable. It's
- 57:20Speaker 2: like my senior year and she made us do this
- 57:23Speaker 2: business camp and senior year of camp. I need to
- 57:28Speaker 2: go to her school. I need to go to a camp.
- 57:30Speaker 2: We need to go to Mama camp.
- 57:31Speaker 1: That's the Lorna Kyle school of hard she always had us.
- 57:35Speaker 1: I had to go to I had to go to
- 57:37Speaker 1: a debate camp. I had to do the French camp,
- 57:40Speaker 1: and then this business camp.
- 57:42Speaker 2: It was a real estate and business camp. How she
- 57:45Speaker 2: really was setting the foundation for you. She was not.
- 57:48Speaker 1: It wasn't intensive and so you got into it was
- 57:52Speaker 1: a competition. You got into groups and you take this
- 57:57Speaker 1: bit of real estate and you flip it with another
- 57:59Speaker 1: with a busy this idea, like to construct a business
- 58:01Speaker 1: idea out of this piece.
- 58:02Speaker 2: Of real estate. So it was really cool.
- 58:05Speaker 1: And it was through Cornell University.
- 58:07Speaker 2: Okay, yeah, it.
- 58:08Speaker 1: Was really really cool actually, but it was during COVID,
- 58:11Speaker 1: so had to be online, which was why I was like,
- 58:13Speaker 1: this sucks. But it would have been fun if I
- 58:15Speaker 1: was able to go there and like the world wasn't
- 58:17Speaker 1: shut down. Yeah, but I was like, girl, this is miserable,
- 58:22Speaker 1: but I won the competition, stop gagged. I won the competition,
- 58:28Speaker 1: and then I was like, WHOA like business. I was like, wow,
- 58:32Speaker 1: that's so cool, like it was, yeah, it was really
- 58:36Speaker 1: really amazing actually, and so then that kind of again
- 58:41Speaker 1: ignited started to propel this the idea for business. I
- 58:46Speaker 1: got really into makeup. I actually famously hated makeup because
- 58:50Speaker 1: I was a competitive dancer and you have to wear oh.
- 58:52Speaker 2: You have to wear that red lips.
- 58:53Speaker 3: Yeah, not the red lips.
- 58:55Speaker 1: So it's so that it was movie.
- 59:01Speaker 2: Ruby. It had to be ruby.
- 59:04Speaker 1: Rude and I was and those wings not the wing, yes,
- 59:10Speaker 1: the last the same.
- 59:11Speaker 2: It was a lot.
- 59:12Speaker 1: It was a lot lot, and so and my mom
- 59:15Speaker 1: would come to the competition with me with her little
- 59:17Speaker 1: makeup bag and I'd be like, oh girl, please don't.
- 59:20Speaker 2: Put that on. Like I just hated it.
- 59:22Speaker 1: And I also had ezema, so I had like full
- 59:26Speaker 1: body ema type.
- 59:28Speaker 2: It was not cute.
- 59:29Speaker 1: And so I just would feel like my lips would
- 59:32Speaker 1: get so itchy, like scratching, you know, stuff off, or
- 59:36Speaker 1: I would feel so uncomfortable wearing makeup, and so I
- 59:39Speaker 1: just did not like it. I eventually, when you know,
- 59:43Speaker 1: you get into high school, I was like, ooh, I
- 59:46Speaker 1: want lip gloss and like I want to start wearing makeups. Yeah,
- 59:49Speaker 1: and so I would like go to like the beauty
- 59:51Speaker 1: store and get like clear, like.
- 59:54Speaker 5: Girl Clear.
- 59:58Speaker 2: Exactly exactly. And so I just became obsessed with that.
- 1:00:01Speaker 2: And then I just got really into makeup.
- 1:00:05Speaker 1: I started really getting I thought I was gonna transition
- 1:00:08Speaker 1: into doing like makeup for film.
- 1:00:10Speaker 2: And television and like theater, okay.
- 1:00:12Speaker 1: And so then during my gap year, I had expressed
- 1:00:16Speaker 1: that to my family and they're like, okay, well.
- 1:00:17Speaker 2: You should go to make up school. So I did too.
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: I did a cosmemetic for USUS.
- 1:00:24Speaker 2: It was really cool.
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: I got a cosmetic certification from a school in Spain,
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: in Barcelona, and I was there for maybe like three
- 1:00:32Speaker 1: two to three months, and then I went to the
- 1:00:35Speaker 1: Makeup Forever Academy in Paris, and then I was there
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: for a lot longer. And that one was like super intense,
- 1:00:42Speaker 1: and that's when I really kind of cemented everything. And
- 1:00:46Speaker 1: that was like you like are in school and all
- 1:00:49Speaker 1: of my instruction was in French.
- 1:00:51Speaker 2: Okay, let's pause.
- 1:00:52Speaker 3: Yeah, So after your after you went overseas and you
- 1:00:56Speaker 3: did your cosmetology cosmetology. When did this get birthed? How
- 1:01:02Speaker 3: soon was that it got birthed during so during all
- 1:01:07Speaker 3: of you Wow, so it actually was birthed.
- 1:01:11Speaker 1: During COVID, but nothing was open. The idea was there,
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: but nothing could actually come into fruition because like China
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: was shut down, everything was shut.
- 1:01:21Speaker 3: Who So the formulas and you figuring out how to
- 1:01:24Speaker 3: get it into this packaging?
- 1:01:25Speaker 2: When did that start? That started around twenty twenty. I
- 1:01:31Speaker 2: graduated twenty one.
- 1:01:34Speaker 3: So I guess I'm trying to figure out like the timeline.
- 1:01:36Speaker 3: So it's COVID, You're going to cosmetology school, you're learning
- 1:01:41Speaker 3: the lay of the land, and then.
- 1:01:42Speaker 2: Just stuck on their mom for telling about the French.
- 1:01:46Speaker 4: Yes, and then she goes back, yes, you're in French school.
- 1:01:50Speaker 2: Yeah, that is wild. No, she was serious, she knew,
- 1:01:54Speaker 2: I mean she was serious.
- 1:01:56Speaker 1: Well she already we had already been going to France
- 1:02:00Speaker 1: and going to school there every single summer, and so
- 1:02:04Speaker 1: we would go to school there and everything would be
- 1:02:07Speaker 1: in French. We had a friend out there who would
- 1:02:10Speaker 1: take us. She would take me to school. I'd go
- 1:02:12Speaker 1: to school for like three hours and then she would
- 1:02:14Speaker 1: just talk to me all day and actually, the friend
- 1:02:19Speaker 1: that we had that lived there was.
- 1:02:20Speaker 2: A makeup artist.
- 1:02:21Speaker 1: I actually should mention that because that's actually kind of
- 1:02:24Speaker 1: how I got into it. When I was sixteen and
- 1:02:27Speaker 1: I went to France over the summer. We had so
- 1:02:32Speaker 1: we used to have a nanny in California, and that
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: nanny had a friend that still.
- 1:02:37Speaker 2: Lived in France.
- 1:02:39Speaker 1: So her nannie was from Paris, and so her friend
- 1:02:42Speaker 1: that lived in France said, oh, when they come out here,
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: I'll just I'll take her around and I'll, you know,
- 1:02:49Speaker 1: be with her for when she's not in school. And
- 1:02:51Speaker 1: so that's exactly what she did. She picked me up
- 1:02:53Speaker 1: in the morning, she'd take me to school, she taught
- 1:02:55Speaker 1: me how to use the metro in Paris, and then
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: afterwards you would go do her little adventures and she.
- 1:03:01Speaker 2: Would talk to me.
- 1:03:02Speaker 1: She didn't know me English, so she would talk to
- 1:03:03Speaker 1: me all day in French. And she was a makeup
- 1:03:07Speaker 1: artist for do yor Okay. And so that was the
- 1:03:10Speaker 1: time when I started to see because at that time
- 1:03:13Speaker 1: I hated makeup, and that was the time where I
- 1:03:15Speaker 1: started to see that makeup was really really cool because
- 1:03:18Speaker 1: I remember we went to a she had a photo
- 1:03:21Speaker 1: shoot to do She used to do the makeup for
- 1:03:24Speaker 1: Miss France and we had a photo shoot to do
- 1:03:28Speaker 1: for her, and she was like turning her into a
- 1:03:30Speaker 1: lion and she was doing all of this like amazing
- 1:03:36Speaker 1: work on her face and it just like transported her.
- 1:03:39Speaker 1: And I remember being absolutely amazed that makeup.
- 1:03:42Speaker 2: Could do that type of that type of transformation.
- 1:03:46Speaker 1: Yeah, you know, and so I just I thought it
- 1:03:49Speaker 1: was absolutely amazing, Like I just thought it was the
- 1:03:51Speaker 1: best thing ever. And so that was kind of watching
- 1:03:55Speaker 1: her do that was kind of the moment where it
- 1:03:57Speaker 1: started to kick in for me.
- 1:03:59Speaker 2: Yeah, it was absolutely her. She was a story. Yeah.
- 1:04:04Speaker 1: And so then years later, when I was eighteen, I
- 1:04:07Speaker 1: ended up going to the Makeup Forever School. The idea
- 1:04:11Speaker 1: was already in my head about pretty lucky, but there
- 1:04:14Speaker 1: was not really a way to kick start it into
- 1:04:17Speaker 1: like formulas and this and that. I think we had
- 1:04:19Speaker 1: tried a little bit before I had started traveling, like
- 1:04:22Speaker 1: that summer before I started traveling, but we hadn't we
- 1:04:28Speaker 1: hadn't found exactly what it was going to be. It
- 1:04:30Speaker 1: was going to look actually like completely different, okay, like
- 1:04:33Speaker 1: everything was. And then I took my year of traveling.
- 1:04:39Speaker 1: I finished at the Makeup Forever Academy got my certifications,
- 1:04:46Speaker 1: I came back. My mom made me go to lash
- 1:04:48Speaker 1: school as well. She wanted maybe a lash test.
- 1:04:50Speaker 3: Like she's so we could do pretty lucky lashes.
- 1:04:56Speaker 2: Yes exactly. No, she was making sure there was the
- 1:05:00Speaker 2: beginning of a brand.
- 1:05:02Speaker 1: Yes for you, Pretty Lucky lips is not going to
- 1:05:05Speaker 1: just be lips. Hopefully it's going pretty lucky about it.
- 1:05:10Speaker 4: Without telling all your secrets, like how do you plan
- 1:05:13Speaker 4: on how would you like to scale the business?
- 1:05:15Speaker 1: So we actually have thought about doing lashes next, because
- 1:05:18Speaker 1: a lip and a lash.
- 1:05:19Speaker 2: Yeah absolutely our need.
- 1:05:20Speaker 1: Okay, honestly, okay, I love lash lips, yeah exactly, And
- 1:05:25Speaker 1: so we're trying to kind of also in that kind
- 1:05:28Speaker 1: of French aesthetic of things as well. Something I learned
- 1:05:34Speaker 1: from going to school out there is French women are very.
- 1:05:36Speaker 2: Minimal, very I wouldn't have thought that.
- 1:05:39Speaker 1: Very, very, very minimal, very chic. They love a bare
- 1:05:43Speaker 1: face and like a bolt.
- 1:05:44Speaker 4: It's like skincare almost like skincare makeup, no makeup makeup.
- 1:05:49Speaker 1: Yeah, they love a bold lip, a little mass scara
- 1:05:52Speaker 1: maybe and you know, maybe a cheek tint like a pinch,
- 1:05:57Speaker 1: just like the very minimal, and so I think kind
- 1:06:03Speaker 1: of in that same vein the idea of having a
- 1:06:05Speaker 1: company that's just lashes and lips is like in that
- 1:06:08Speaker 1: same kind of you know, minimal.
- 1:06:12Speaker 4: Asthetic, very fresh, and that's but it's classic though it
- 1:06:16Speaker 4: will never go out and you can have the brand
- 1:06:19Speaker 4: ever never exactly.
- 1:06:20Speaker 2: Yeah, it's very smart. So you're building this brand.
- 1:06:24Speaker 3: What is it like to build something outside of your father?
- 1:06:29Speaker 1: It's interesting, Yeah, you know what, I always think about
- 1:06:32Speaker 1: that because I think in my roommate and best friend,
- 1:06:39Speaker 1: I always have the conversation about being called a NEPO
- 1:06:42Speaker 1: baby or a NEPO child, and that's not something that
- 1:06:45Speaker 1: ever really we never it never, it never really we
- 1:06:48Speaker 1: don't think of it. Of course people call us that,
- 1:06:52Speaker 1: but I don't. It doesn't, it doesn't. It didn't compute
- 1:06:56Speaker 1: to me that that's what I was because my father's
- 1:06:59Speaker 1: not a the cosmetic space.
- 1:07:02Speaker 3: You've studied and you've went to school, studied, that can't be.
- 1:07:07Speaker 2: Something that's attached to exactly study.
- 1:07:14Speaker 1: And so yeah, I think just I think people assume,
- 1:07:19Speaker 1: you know, sometimes when you're like a celebrity child and
- 1:07:25Speaker 1: you have like a business now that you're like not
- 1:07:26Speaker 1: really in those meetings and like, you know, you're just
- 1:07:29Speaker 1: slapping your name on something falls on your lab exactly exactly.
- 1:07:33Speaker 1: But it just really wasn't that type of situation. I
- 1:07:36Speaker 1: had to be in every single meeting. I was on
- 1:07:39Speaker 1: every single email thread still am like it's it's an
- 1:07:42Speaker 1: obsession for me and so and also the I had
- 1:07:46Speaker 1: to prove to my parents that I really wanted it,
- 1:07:49Speaker 1: like my parents, having a business is an investment. And
- 1:07:53Speaker 1: thank god my parents believe in me enough. But I
- 1:07:57Speaker 1: had to really prove to them, like I had to
- 1:07:59Speaker 1: make business plans and like present it to them and
- 1:08:02Speaker 1: be like this is my business like they're like they're investors,
- 1:08:05Speaker 1: like and they took it seriously like it was.
- 1:08:08Speaker 2: It was a very serious ordeal. They had to. They
- 1:08:12Speaker 2: really had to know that I was I was in
- 1:08:14Speaker 2: it to win him.
- 1:08:15Speaker 4: They had to make sense for them because ye, their
- 1:08:17Speaker 4: risk exactly like it needs to make exactly and so
- 1:08:20Speaker 4: they can get you to the door, but they can't
- 1:08:23Speaker 4: the work has to be done.
- 1:08:24Speaker 2: By one thous door. What are you get?
- 1:08:29Speaker 1: And so my dad didn't come to any meetings like
- 1:08:31Speaker 1: it's like my like he wasn't. I don't even know
- 1:08:33Speaker 1: if he knew I was like really doing it like
- 1:08:36Speaker 1: it wasn't.
- 1:08:37Speaker 2: It wasn't.
- 1:08:39Speaker 1: It wasn't like, you know, supposed to be an extension
- 1:08:42Speaker 1: of him. And so I just think, I mean.
- 1:08:46Speaker 2: I feel so.
- 1:08:49Speaker 1: Because we always did things growing up and made things
- 1:08:52Speaker 1: that didn't feel like they were.
- 1:08:54Speaker 2: Attached to him.
- 1:08:56Speaker 1: It didn't feel any different than you know, going to
- 1:08:59Speaker 1: a dance competition or you know, being in a school
- 1:09:03Speaker 1: play or doing this or doing that. It didn't feel
- 1:09:06Speaker 1: any different in that sense. But I did have the
- 1:09:10Speaker 1: feeling even at that time when I was eighteen. I
- 1:09:15Speaker 1: say that, like I'm so much older now I was
- 1:09:17Speaker 1: four years ago, but I say that like, even at
- 1:09:21Speaker 1: that time, I knew that it was going to be
- 1:09:24Speaker 1: big for me, and I took it so serious and
- 1:09:28Speaker 1: I was, you know, really really hyper and excited about it.
- 1:09:32Speaker 2: And so I was just excited, like I really wanted
- 1:09:34Speaker 2: to get the ball rolling. Yeah.
- 1:09:35Speaker 1: No one tells you though, when you start businesses that
- 1:09:38Speaker 1: it takes a long time. And so that was the
- 1:09:40Speaker 1: hardest thing I had to grapple with, is that it
- 1:09:43Speaker 1: was going to take me four years to eventually.
- 1:09:45Speaker 2: Get it to where it is.
- 1:09:48Speaker 1: Yeah, And so I just kept on, like just praying
- 1:09:53Speaker 1: and like just hoping and wishing and honestly thank God
- 1:09:57Speaker 1: for that, because if I had rushed the process, slapped
- 1:10:01Speaker 1: something on a bottle and just you know, put it
- 1:10:03Speaker 1: out there, then I would have not I wouldn't have
- 1:10:05Speaker 1: had the team.
- 1:10:06Speaker 2: That I have now. Shout out the team.
- 1:10:08Speaker 1: Yeah, I wouldn't have had, you know, the brand identity
- 1:10:13Speaker 1: and the image I had. Now throughout the four years,
- 1:10:16Speaker 1: I grew so much as a person in in what
- 1:10:20Speaker 1: I liked and what I wanted and what was important
- 1:10:23Speaker 1: to me, and that translated into the brand as well.
- 1:10:28Speaker 2: It's like so much aesthetically yeah.
- 1:10:31Speaker 1: And like nothing would have been the same if I
- 1:10:34Speaker 1: had rushed the process and just been like, Okay, let's
- 1:10:37Speaker 1: drop it, because you know, you you tell people like, oh,
- 1:10:41Speaker 1: this is what I want to do, and then they're like, oh,
- 1:10:42Speaker 1: where is it?
- 1:10:43Speaker 2: And then it's kind of like, well, TikTok, where is it?
- 1:10:46Speaker 3: Where you were you were building it and you were
- 1:10:49Speaker 3: getting a lot of you know, studying and intension behind it.
- 1:10:53Speaker 3: Let's take a look at what you know for the
- 1:10:57Speaker 3: sake of time. I know we have a little bit
- 1:10:58Speaker 3: of time left. I I do want you to chew well.
- 1:11:01Speaker 3: First of all tell us what we have the shades,
- 1:11:05Speaker 3: and you know, pick a shade that represents legacy.
- 1:11:12Speaker 2: Tell us about the formula. Well, yeah, the formulas, what
- 1:11:15Speaker 2: the colors are, and.
- 1:11:15Speaker 1: How you got this is only half the line? Should
- 1:11:18Speaker 1: we show all the camp like do we need to
- 1:11:20Speaker 1: pick them up at the end? So this is right?
- 1:11:24Speaker 1: This is Goddess that's kissed me. I believe that's I
- 1:11:29Speaker 1: think that's her. And then that at the end is obsessed.
- 1:11:32Speaker 2: How do you come up with the name.
- 1:11:33Speaker 1: Yeah, it's just a combination of me and my mom. Okay, yeah,
- 1:11:38Speaker 1: I my mom is she has like way cuter like
- 1:11:41Speaker 1: name ideas than me.
- 1:11:44Speaker 2: Was cute. They're so cute.
- 1:11:46Speaker 1: But yeah, I think it just kind of like they
- 1:11:49Speaker 1: blossomed from how they feel like.
- 1:11:51Speaker 2: I don't think there wasn't a true kind of theme
- 1:11:56Speaker 2: to them.
- 1:11:57Speaker 1: I do try to pick sayings or things that I
- 1:12:00Speaker 1: say so and just.
- 1:12:03Speaker 2: Like how it feels like.
- 1:12:04Speaker 1: I we called this one obsessed because I was like,
- 1:12:06Speaker 1: I'm obsessed with that color.
- 1:12:07Speaker 2: I love it.
- 1:12:11Speaker 3: Thank you so, So before we transition into our next segment,
- 1:12:17Speaker 3: is there a specific shade that represents legacy? I will say,
- 1:12:25Speaker 3: I'm going to pick up this one Okay, I'll say
- 1:12:29Speaker 3: her represents legacy just because it was the first shade
- 1:12:34Speaker 3: that I believe. This was one of the first ones
- 1:12:38Speaker 3: I tried, and it was important to me. This is
- 1:12:42Speaker 3: also a color I keep in my bag at all times.
- 1:12:45Speaker 2: Is that what you're wearing?
- 1:12:46Speaker 1: Yes, I quite literally always always have one of these
- 1:12:50Speaker 1: in my bag. It's just like the perfect kind of
- 1:12:53Speaker 1: gold shimmer.
- 1:12:56Speaker 3: Yeah, it does look it's super light.
- 1:12:59Speaker 1: It really really it comes on. It's not even iridescent.
- 1:13:03Speaker 1: It just has this like very light kind of clear,
- 1:13:07Speaker 1: but also like coated shimmer.
- 1:13:08Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:13:10Speaker 1: And it's also our like most cell like sold out
- 1:13:14Speaker 1: one right now.
- 1:13:15Speaker 2: So I cause your flagship color. This is our flagship.
- 1:13:17Speaker 2: I love that. Where do you see this in five years?
- 1:13:20Speaker 3: Like, what's the what's the hope and the dream for
- 1:13:22Speaker 3: Pretty Lucky Lips.
- 1:13:23Speaker 2: The hope in the.
- 1:13:24Speaker 1: Dream for Pretty Lucky Lips is that it becomes a
- 1:13:27Speaker 1: all encompassing beauty brand. I'd like to do body, I'd
- 1:13:31Speaker 1: like to do Fragrance, I I want to do it all.
- 1:13:35Speaker 1: So in five years, I hope that it's not just
- 1:13:38Speaker 1: Pretty Lucky Lips.
- 1:13:39Speaker 2: I hope that it's.
- 1:13:41Speaker 3: Cheers exactly Lucky Lip Cheers to your pretty lucky lips.
- 1:13:45Speaker 3: Good for you, sis, you're so young, so wise and
- 1:13:48Speaker 3: already doing so much.
- 1:13:50Speaker 2: Good for you girls. Thank you guys.
- 1:13:52Speaker 4: Yes, okay, So we have a segment on board to
- 1:13:55Speaker 4: the game called Impersonating Greatness. It's where we ask our
- 1:13:59Speaker 4: guests to love impersonate their parents. So give us Cedric
- 1:14:05Speaker 4: but the dad edition.
- 1:14:07Speaker 1: The dad Edition, I don't know, there's not a real
- 1:14:11Speaker 1: way to impersonate it.
- 1:14:12Speaker 2: But because he has a terrible tactic of taking my food.
- 1:14:19Speaker 1: Every time I'm eating something, he always is like, baby,
- 1:14:24Speaker 1: can let me get some? Like always, always, always, so
- 1:14:27Speaker 1: he's like, can I can I have a little a
- 1:14:30Speaker 1: little piece of bacon? Just give me a little corner?
- 1:14:32Speaker 1: Like he always takes my food. So that's something I
- 1:14:38Speaker 1: would say, or a saying that reminds me of him
- 1:14:41Speaker 1: is do you want to share a steak?
- 1:14:43Speaker 2: That's what he always says, do you want to share
- 1:14:45Speaker 2: a steak?
- 1:14:47Speaker 1: Because we're the only people in our family that eat meat.
- 1:14:49Speaker 2: Oh, so he's always like, do you want to share
- 1:14:51Speaker 2: a steak? Oh? Thing, milque. Is there a lesson that
- 1:14:57Speaker 2: he's taught you that has stuff?
- 1:15:01Speaker 1: I think the lesson that he's taught me that's stuck
- 1:15:03Speaker 1: the most. Is definitely some dating advice.
- 1:15:08Speaker 2: And just to not.
- 1:15:11Speaker 1: Ever dull my sparkle down for anyone. Yeah, that's definitely
- 1:15:17Speaker 1: something that he always always always instills in me and
- 1:15:21Speaker 1: just to continue shining no matter no matter what. So yeah,
- 1:15:28Speaker 1: good advice, great advice. So we also have a segment
- 1:15:32Speaker 1: on board to the game called Legacy Objects.
- 1:15:34Speaker 3: It's where our guess brings something small that holds a
- 1:15:37Speaker 3: big story, an item that represents where they come from,
- 1:15:41Speaker 3: what they carry with them, and how legacy shows up
- 1:15:44Speaker 3: in everyday life. So Lucky, what did you bring today?
- 1:15:48Speaker 2: I brought I.
- 1:15:49Speaker 1: Don't know if it's allowed. I brought a photo. Yeah,
- 1:15:51Speaker 1: but it's on my phone. Yeah, okay, I.
- 1:15:54Speaker 2: Didn't know that was girl.
- 1:15:57Speaker 3: It's anything, it's anything that represents you ring in a pin, yeah,
- 1:16:01Speaker 3: a microphone. We've had pictures before, bra, Yeah that is adorable.
- 1:16:07Speaker 2: Okay, well we have. I just think my favorite thing.
- 1:16:16Speaker 1: Ever is I'm my family calls me like like just like.
- 1:16:22Speaker 2: A photo album. So you take all the pictures. I
- 1:16:25Speaker 2: take all the pictures, but.
- 1:16:26Speaker 1: I also find oh, picture pictures okay, and I don't
- 1:16:30Speaker 1: I think they're always really confused as to like how
- 1:16:32Speaker 1: I've found it, because they're like what, what, like, what
- 1:16:36Speaker 1: are you digging through?
- 1:16:38Speaker 2: Like you to find these?
- 1:16:41Speaker 1: But I really do dig because I think it's so cute,
- 1:16:44Speaker 1: just like to have all these old photos. But I
- 1:16:48Speaker 1: brought this photo of mine of my brother and I
- 1:16:53Speaker 1: sleeping on my die.
- 1:16:56Speaker 2: And we just look so cute. So what is that
- 1:16:59Speaker 2: picture mean to you? I just think it's so sweet.
- 1:17:03Speaker 1: And I'm always constantly in this position with my father.
- 1:17:07Speaker 1: I'm always cuddling him in some way.
- 1:17:09Speaker 2: Oh look at you.
- 1:17:11Speaker 1: Yes, and especially at this time. We used to take
- 1:17:14Speaker 1: naps together. That was like our time together. Yes, because
- 1:17:18Speaker 1: he's always so tired. Yeah, because he's always I'm pretty
- 1:17:20Speaker 1: sure he's like narcoleptic or something. He's like always sleeping.
- 1:17:23Speaker 2: Yeah. And so I just think this picture is really sweet.
- 1:17:27Speaker 2: We were.
- 1:17:30Speaker 1: We were traveling here, we went somewhere for a show,
- 1:17:33Speaker 1: and so I just think it's adorable.
- 1:17:37Speaker 2: Just my brother and I represents how important family is.
- 1:17:40Speaker 3: Yes, And no matter how busy your dad is and
- 1:17:44Speaker 3: what he has going on, and we all know he
- 1:17:46Speaker 3: has so much on his plate, he makes time for you.
- 1:17:48Speaker 2: Always, family's children.
- 1:17:50Speaker 3: So that's beautiful, always, always, always, that's beautiful, He's the best. Yes,
- 1:17:54Speaker 3: any dad, what's one legacy that you would want to
- 1:17:58Speaker 3: be remembered for? Like, what legacy are you creating? And
- 1:18:04Speaker 3: what's one thing you would say to your dad?
- 1:18:06Speaker 2: It's like a double course.
- 1:18:08Speaker 1: I think one legacy I want to be remembered for, definitely,
- 1:18:11Speaker 1: And something that we try to pour into Pretty Lucky
- 1:18:13Speaker 1: as a brand is authenticity. We talked a little bit
- 1:18:16Speaker 1: before about being genuine. Authenticity is definitely at the corner
- 1:18:23Speaker 1: and like one of the pillars of Pretty Lucky and
- 1:18:25Speaker 1: what we try to do to make everyone feel like
- 1:18:28Speaker 1: the best version of themselves. And so something I personally
- 1:18:38Speaker 1: I always want to do is I always want to talk.
- 1:18:41Speaker 1: I'd like to be what's it called. Oh, I'd like
- 1:18:44Speaker 1: to be someone who makes everyone feel like someone? Yes, no,
- 1:18:47Speaker 1: it does, okay, Yeah, So I always, always, always, I
- 1:18:53Speaker 1: just I just want to make people feel good. So
- 1:18:55Speaker 1: I hope that that's what people are saying about me
- 1:18:58Speaker 1: not around and I hope that's the legacy that I
- 1:19:01Speaker 1: leave behind.
- 1:19:02Speaker 3: Well, you have made us feel phenomenal in this last
- 1:19:05Speaker 3: hour and a half, like you really are a bundle
- 1:19:08Speaker 3: of joy, and so that is a legacy that you
- 1:19:10Speaker 3: have left with Timay and I if there's one thing
- 1:19:13Speaker 3: that you could say to your dad, what would you say?
- 1:19:16Speaker 1: I'd say, father, I love you, and that you're so
- 1:19:21Speaker 1: hard working and just such a chiller and like and
- 1:19:26Speaker 1: I'm really glad that you're my dad.
- 1:19:28Speaker 2: Like, honestly, he's really he's really, truly, truly the best.
- 1:19:32Speaker 2: He's a really great father. We love Cedric. He really
- 1:19:34Speaker 2: is just like a big teddy bear. It's just the best,
- 1:19:37Speaker 2: you know. But we also have one more surprise for you.
- 1:19:39Speaker 2: We can't.
- 1:19:40Speaker 3: We can't end the day without having a little bit
- 1:19:43Speaker 3: of a surprise.
- 1:19:45Speaker 2: So, oh, this is petrifying.
- 1:19:54Speaker 5: Hey, what's that big shout out? Man? I just wanted
- 1:19:59Speaker 5: to I've seen a big COMMENDU really proud of you
- 1:20:05Speaker 5: to my daughter Lucky Rose, founder of Pretty Lucky Lips
- 1:20:10Speaker 5: and Pretty Lucky Cosmetics. You know you worked very hard
- 1:20:15Speaker 5: on this project. Man, many years of having an adoration
- 1:20:20Speaker 5: for the world of skincare and makeup and you know,
- 1:20:24Speaker 5: had a dream about doing this and you started to
- 1:20:27Speaker 5: lock in on the idea and you put that time in.
- 1:20:31Speaker 5: You really did. I've watched you be on zoom meetings
- 1:20:36Speaker 5: for hours to care about the marketing, the packaging, the
- 1:20:39Speaker 5: way that you source it, in what you were actually
- 1:20:43Speaker 5: bringing to the marketplace, the idea. You've been through so
- 1:20:46Speaker 5: many photo shoots and marketing campaigns and hires and non hires,
- 1:20:52Speaker 5: and the process that it takes to build something people
- 1:20:54Speaker 5: don't know. These things don't happen overnight, and you showed
- 1:20:57Speaker 5: dedication to that all while being great and kind and
- 1:21:03Speaker 5: purposeful about your goals and although out doing that as
- 1:21:08Speaker 5: a college student. So I'm proud of you. Your grades
- 1:21:11Speaker 5: are strong, your friendship group is great, your smile is radiant,
- 1:21:15Speaker 5: your attitude is positive. And yet you are building something
- 1:21:19Speaker 5: that will be a legacy for you. You've got your
- 1:21:23Speaker 5: name on it and you care about it that it
- 1:21:26Speaker 5: does represent that. So congratulations to you. Keep up the
- 1:21:29Speaker 5: good work, keep being a great example. Keep letting that
- 1:21:32Speaker 5: light shine from deep with inside you, and you go
- 1:21:35Speaker 5: forth and you do great things. All right? I love you.
- 1:21:38Speaker 5: I love you, know I do you know I'll be
- 1:21:41Speaker 5: having favorites. But come on now we me go all
- 1:21:48Speaker 5: all right, face, I love you so much, man, I'd
- 1:21:50Speaker 5: be great. Hope this podcast is great, Mariah, keep rocking.
- 1:21:54Speaker 5: Know me and your dad is my dog right there.
- 1:21:56Speaker 5: But again, I appreciate that. Boring to the Game podcast
- 1:22:00Speaker 5: is hot. I love what it's all about. And again
- 1:22:05Speaker 5: you continue to strive and let your own light shine
- 1:22:08Speaker 5: and become your own individual star in this world. I
- 1:22:12Speaker 5: love it. All right, God bless all right, Lucky, all right,
- 1:22:17Speaker 5: thank you.
- 1:22:18Speaker 2: Sadie was so cute. So he loves his baby. I
- 1:22:23Speaker 2: love him.
- 1:22:24Speaker 1: I was like when I saw his little face, I
- 1:22:26Speaker 1: was like, oh my god, my own trouble.
- 1:22:27Speaker 3: No, he love you so much. She loves you so much,
- 1:22:30Speaker 3: and he even just to wrap this. You work extremely hard,
- 1:22:34Speaker 3: and that is something again, the biggest stereotype about children
- 1:22:37Speaker 3: in this industry is that everything is handed, and Tamara
- 1:22:41Speaker 3: has mentioned it. Our dads and your mom can help
- 1:22:44Speaker 3: you get into a door, but it's still up to
- 1:22:46Speaker 3: you to work, to stay in there, to navigate those relationships,
- 1:22:51Speaker 3: to network, to work hard. And that's what you're doing.
- 1:22:55Speaker 3: You're you're studying, you're trying to run a business. So
- 1:22:58Speaker 3: good for you.
- 1:22:59Speaker 2: Keep going. We're so proud of you.
- 1:23:01Speaker 3: You have a support system, you have a village who's
- 1:23:03Speaker 3: there to help just continue lifting you up.
- 1:23:06Speaker 2: So you're doing the thing. Girl.
- 1:23:08Speaker 3: You're so beautiful, and thank you for joining us.
- 1:23:12Speaker 1: This is thank you guys for having this.
- 1:23:16Speaker 2: Was it? It was so you really do. You're a
- 1:23:20Speaker 2: great storyteller.
- 1:23:22Speaker 3: This is beautiful. So I hope you're not nervous next
- 1:23:25Speaker 3: time you get on the cab.
- 1:23:26Speaker 2: This is something you're used to because you're a natural.
- 1:23:30Speaker 2: That's what I'm saying. You're a natural.
- 1:23:32Speaker 3: You're a natural. Alrighty, thank you for joining us today.
- 1:23:36Speaker 2: I'm Warren. To the game.
- 1:23:37Speaker 3: I'm your host Maria, and make sure to like, follow, subscribe, share,
- 1:23:41Speaker 3: and we'll see you next time.
- 1:23:45Speaker 2: Yeah. Good
