- 1:08SPEAKER_06: It just popped in my head.
- 1:10SPEAKER_13: And we tried to research it.
- 1:11SPEAKER_13: Sharon Lois and Bram is the like like a children's film.
- 1:17SPEAKER_06: It's like a children's television show on Canadian TV.
- 1:20SPEAKER_13: Yeah, I think.
- 1:20SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 1:21SPEAKER_06: But I don't remember the name of the show.
- 1:23SPEAKER_13: I don't either.
- 1:23SPEAKER_06: And it's not helping us.
- 1:25SPEAKER_13: I know exactly what you were talking about, obviously.
- 1:27SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 1:28SPEAKER_06: Because they had weird.
- 1:29SPEAKER_06: And that that explains a lot about Canadians.
- 1:32SPEAKER_13: It does.
- 1:33SPEAKER_06: I mean, that the what was that?
- 1:34SPEAKER_06: The friendly giant?
- 1:35SPEAKER_06: Remember him?

- 1:37SPEAKER_06: Mr.
- 1:38SPEAKER_06: uh Mr.
- 1:38SPEAKER_06: Dress Up.
- 1:39SPEAKER_06: Mr.
- 1:39SPEAKER_13: Dress Up, yeah.
- 1:40SPEAKER_13: I used to watch Mr.
- 1:40SPEAKER_13: Dress Up.
- 1:40SPEAKER_06: Oh, I used to watch Mr.
- 1:41SPEAKER_06: Dress Up all the time.
- 1:42SPEAKER_13: You know who else I used to watch?
- 1:44SPEAKER_13: Was uh no.
- 1:47SPEAKER_13: Oh, no, no, it was Mr.
- 1:48SPEAKER_13: Dressup.
- 1:49SPEAKER_13: Never.
- 1:49SPEAKER_13: I'm thinking of Captain Kangaroo, but that was totally different.
- 1:51SPEAKER_13: That was a different thing.
- 1:52SPEAKER_13: That was totally different.
- 1:52SPEAKER_13: I used to watch that when I was really little as well.
- 1:54SPEAKER_13: Did you know he was a Marine?
- 1:55SPEAKER_13: Captain Kangaroo?
- 1:56SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 1:56SPEAKER_13: I did not know that.
- 1:57SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 1:57SPEAKER_06: Explains a lot, doesn't it?
- 1:58SPEAKER_13: It does explain a lot, yeah.
- 2:01SPEAKER_06: That's why I did a lot of things with, you know, Bill Cosby and the crayons.
- 2:05unknown: Right.
- 2:06SPEAKER_06: There you go.
- 2:07SPEAKER_06: Explains a lot.
- 2:08SPEAKER_06: How you doing, man?
- 2:09SPEAKER_13: Good, you?
- 2:10SPEAKER_13: I'm alright.
- 2:11SPEAKER_13: Alright.
- 2:11SPEAKER_13: Yeah, today was a squatcher.
- 2:12SPEAKER_13: Squatch out there.
- 2:14SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 2:14SPEAKER_13: Wicked hot.
- 2:15SPEAKER_13: We're uh record I just jumped into an accent there.
- 2:18SPEAKER_13: So we just we're uh we're you want a drink or something?
- 2:23SPEAKER_13: We uh we're recording this on Tuesday, and it was uh I uh they the heat index in Bangor, Portland was like 105 today.
- 2:31SPEAKER_06: I don't think it was quite that hot up today.
- 2:33SPEAKER_13: It said the heat index.
- 2:34SPEAKER_13: No, but wasn't uh uh and I don't know that it got to 105 down there.
- 2:38SPEAKER_06: No, I think it that was the heat index, so that's what it feels like.
- 2:41SPEAKER_13: Right.
- 2:41SPEAKER_06: It doesn't mean it's actual temperature.
- 2:43SPEAKER_13: So here I think it got up to 87.
- 2:46SPEAKER_06: Uh at the house it was ninety.
- 2:48SPEAKER_13: Was it?
- 2:48SPEAKER_06: You know, like in the middle of the day.
- 2:50SPEAKER_13: Right.
- 2:50SPEAKER_13: So yeah, so but it probably felt like ninety-five, whatever.
- 2:55SPEAKER_06: It wasn't bad.
- 2:55SPEAKER_06: Like why like now it's not bad because it's it's it's not a humid heat, it's uh more of a dry heat.
- 3:01SPEAKER_13: No, it was earlier.
- 3:02SPEAKER_06: Yeah, yeah.
- 3:03SPEAKER_06: It it's cooled, you know, it's cooled off a lot.
- 3:05SPEAKER_06: Yeah, it's still like 80 something out, but it feels a lot better.
- 3:08SPEAKER_13: Yeah, I took the youngest to the pool this morning, so um this morning and this afternoon, because it was just one of those days when you want to cool them off.
- 3:14SPEAKER_06: Yeah, just throw them in the water, yeah.
- 3:16SPEAKER_06: Leave them there.
- 3:17SPEAKER_13: Exactly, exactly.
- 3:18SPEAKER_06: While I sat them prune up like uh raisins.
- 3:21SPEAKER_06: Right.
- 3:21SPEAKER_06: That's the best part.
- 3:23SPEAKER_06: I miss that about being a kid in summertime.
- 3:25SPEAKER_13: What?
- 3:25SPEAKER_06: Just stay I used to stay in the pool for hours.
- 3:29SPEAKER_13: What pool?
- 3:29SPEAKER_13: Just the the the one in Well, my cousin Becky.
- 3:32SPEAKER_13: Yeah, she had a pool.
- 3:33SPEAKER_06: She had a pool.
- 3:34SPEAKER_06: Oh, I didn't know that.
- 3:34SPEAKER_06: So we used to go there and we w her and I would just stay in the pool for like hours.
- 3:39SPEAKER_13: Right.
- 3:39SPEAKER_06: We'd come out to eat right back in the pool.
- 3:42SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 3:42SPEAKER_06: You know?
- 3:43SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 3:43SPEAKER_06: Just stay in there, man.
- 3:44SPEAKER_13: I remember when I when I was living down in in Mars Hill, we used to go to the Marsh Hill pool all the time.
- 3:50SPEAKER_13: You worked there.
- 3:51SPEAKER_13: Yeah, I did.
- 3:51SPEAKER_13: I was a lifeguard there.
- 3:52SPEAKER_13: Yeah, I remember.
- 3:53SPEAKER_13: That was the best.
- 3:54SPEAKER_13: I remember.
- 3:54SPEAKER_13: Do you ever say hi to or see Heather?

- 4:04SPEAKER_13: Was it Heather?
- 4:05SPEAKER_13: Lisa.
- 4:07SPEAKER_13: Who was one of the female lifeguards there?
- 4:10SPEAKER_13: Um, blonde.
- 4:13SPEAKER_13: Shoot.
- 4:14SPEAKER_13: I thought her name was Heather.
- 4:16SPEAKER_13: Wendy?
- 4:16SPEAKER_13: Wendy.
- 4:18SPEAKER_13: Was it Wendy?
- 4:20SPEAKER_13: Does she cut hair now?
- 4:22SPEAKER_06: Yes.
- 4:22SPEAKER_13: Then it was Wendy.
- 4:23SPEAKER_06: Yeah, it was Wendy.
- 4:24SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 4:24SPEAKER_06: Wendy Kingsbury.
- 4:26SPEAKER_06: No, I don't think that's her.
- 4:28SPEAKER_06: I don't think that's who I'm thinking of.
- 4:30SPEAKER_06: I don't know then.
- 4:31SPEAKER_13: Anyway, well, she cuts hair at a at the barber shop now.
- 4:35SPEAKER_13: Downtown on Main Street.
- 4:38SPEAKER_06: It might not be her then.
- 4:39SPEAKER_13: It's not Wendy Kingsbury.
- 4:40SPEAKER_13: I that does I always know if it was a Kingsbury.
- 4:43SPEAKER_06: Well, that's her married name.
- 4:45SPEAKER_13: What was do you remember her?
- 4:46SPEAKER_06: Uh, what was her name?
- 4:48SPEAKER_13: I love how we worked this out on the podcast.
- 4:50SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 4:57SPEAKER_06: So come on this thought journey with us.
- 5:00SPEAKER_06: Maybe it was Wendy.
- 5:01SPEAKER_13: Actually, you know that you say that.
- 5:02SPEAKER_13: I think her name was Wendy.
- 5:04SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 5:05SPEAKER_13: Uh.
- 5:06SPEAKER_06: Because she was there when I was taking when I was getting qualified for to be a lifeguard.
- 5:12SPEAKER_13: Always wore bikini.
- 5:14SPEAKER_06: No, that was Wendy.
- 5:15SPEAKER_13: That wasn't Wendy?
- 5:16SPEAKER_13: No.
- 5:16SPEAKER_06: I don't know who that was.
- 5:18SPEAKER_13: That's all I remember.
- 5:20SPEAKER_06: Well, yeah, I mean, you get distracted by that.
- 5:22SPEAKER_13: Speaking of speaking of that, I um our friend, and I'm not gonna I'm not gonna say her name just because um I want to show you who I'm talking about.
- 5:35SPEAKER_13: Okay, do you know?
- 5:36SPEAKER_13: Do you know?
- 5:38SPEAKER_03: Oh yeah, yeah.
- 5:38SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 5:39SPEAKER_13: So she she put a post on today.
- 5:42SPEAKER_13: Because I used to live near her.
- 5:43SPEAKER_13: Right, right.
- 5:44SPEAKER_13: And she put your neighbor, right?
- 5:47SPEAKER_13: She was, yeah.
- 5:48SPEAKER_13: So where did she put it?
- 5:50SPEAKER_13: Holy cow.
- 5:51SPEAKER_13: She must post a lot.
- 5:54SPEAKER_13: Because I think I saw it yesterday.
- 6:01SPEAKER_13: When did she post this?
- 6:02SPEAKER_13: Holy cow.
- 6:04SPEAKER_13: Well that says it's from June 12th, so I'm not sure.
- 6:09SPEAKER_13: Anyway.
- 6:10SPEAKER_13: She posted a meme of sorts that said something about um tanning.
- 6:21SPEAKER_13: Um and and had a had a bunch of uh I wonder if I can go to my it doesn't matter.
- 6:26SPEAKER_13: Anyway.
- 6:27SPEAKER_13: She says, I may or may not know exactly what this what they're talking about.
- 6:31SPEAKER_13: You know, something about laying out and tanning and oh she was famous for that.
- 6:36SPEAKER_13: Right.
- 6:36SPEAKER_13: So I said uh I commented, I said It's true.
- 6:40SPEAKER_13: You know.
- 6:41SPEAKER_13: You know, you you you know what they're talking about.
- 6:44SPEAKER_13: Uh I may or may not uh or uh I won't tell uh how did I say it?
- 6:48SPEAKER_13: It was funny anyway, she laughed at it.
- 6:50SPEAKER_13: Okay Um I can't remember I can't remember what it was, but yeah.
- 6:55SPEAKER_13: She used she lived right next to us.
- 6:57SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 6:57SPEAKER_13: And uh was obviously quite a bit older than I was.
- 7:02SPEAKER_06: Not too much older, but yeah, she was like three or four years older than I was.
- 7:07SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 7:07SPEAKER_13: So yeah.
- 7:09SPEAKER_13: But uh that's yeah, that's it was that's edged in my memory.
- 7:12SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 7:13SPEAKER_06: Totally get it, man.
- 7:14SPEAKER_06: Okay, totally get it.
- 7:16SPEAKER_13: Um but she's a great lady.
- 7:17SPEAKER_13: She's yeah, I've talked to her since I actually worked with her at the hospital.
- 7:20SPEAKER_13: Oh yeah, that's right.
- 7:21SPEAKER_13: Yeah, yeah.
- 7:21SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 7:22SPEAKER_13: Um I remembered that.
- 7:24SPEAKER_13: So we uh are doing something very cool this Thursday.
- 7:29SPEAKER_13: Actually, if um you are listening to this on the day that it comes out, Thursday, uh June 23 to 4 to 5, 26th, 26th.
- 7:40SPEAKER_13: Yeah, June 26th.
- 7:41SPEAKER_13: Uh come down to um the lounge at the Northeastern Hotel tonight at 6 because you and I are on a team for name that tune.
- 7:55SPEAKER_13: Here's the thing.
- 7:56SPEAKER_13: So who's who's on this alleged team?
- 7:59SPEAKER_13: Well, I'll tell you here in a second.
- 8:00SPEAKER_13: So so um I've only done this once.
- 8:04SPEAKER_13: Did I ever tell you about this?
- 8:05SPEAKER_06: Yeah, I was out at the Country Club, yeah.
- 8:08SPEAKER_13: And I killed.
- 8:09SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 8:10SPEAKER_13: And I went up to I'm just there for looks, man.
- 8:14SPEAKER_13: No, no, no, you'll be able to help.
- 8:16SPEAKER_13: Um, so I uh I went up, I was at the fifth grade graduation, my daughter's fifth grade graduation, and the host of Name That Tune, his name's Charlie, his family came in.
- 8:25SPEAKER_13: He wasn't there, but I went up to his wife and I said because he wa he had been trying to hold Name That Tune at the rec center on Wednesday nights.
- 8:35SPEAKER_13: And so I went up to her and I said, uh tell Charlie that I haven't made it to one of his Name That Toon nights yet, but I'm I'm out of school now, so I'm I'm gonna make it.
- 8:46SPEAKER_13: And she's like, They're not doing it.
- 8:47SPEAKER_13: I was like, What do you mean they're not doing it?
- 8:49SPEAKER_13: Nobody showed up.
- 8:51SPEAKER_13: I was like, What do you mean?
- 8:52SPEAKER_13: Nobody showed up at the rec t to play.
- 8:54SPEAKER_13: So they're gonna try and have it down at the lounge at the Northeastland.
- 8:58SPEAKER_13: I was like, You let me know when that is.
- 9:01SPEAKER_13: So I had plans to go, you know, even if I went by myself, you know, whatever, I would I want to go.
- 9:06SPEAKER_13: So her son, who's sitting next to her, she goes, he and I graduated with him, Scott, he looks at me and he goes, Wait, aren't you banned from playing that name that tune?
- 9:17SPEAKER_13: Because when it comes to that stuff, you know, I you you know, when it comes to basketball and other sports that my kids are in, my wife is the competitive one.
- 9:29SPEAKER_13: Oh, yeah.
- 9:30SPEAKER_13: She's you know, she gets you know, get right into it and I'll be like, oh, they're just having fun.
- 9:35SPEAKER_13: Okay.
- 9:37SPEAKER_13: Um but when I did that at their country club, I was I know this because I have all this useless information in here and you know, I need to get it out.
- 9:47SPEAKER_13: So obviously we won uh the whole kit and caboodle last time.
- 9:51SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 9:51SPEAKER_13: Pat was on my team.
- 9:53SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 9:54SPEAKER_13: Um and so I was planning on going anyway, but then he said, Do you want to get a team together to go down?
- 10:02SPEAKER_13: And I said, Yeah, sure, that'd be fun.
- 10:05SPEAKER_13: So it's right now it's you, me, Pat, um, my boss, my principal at Pine Street, Bill, and his wife and daughter.
- 10:17SPEAKER_13: And there was one or two other people.
- 10:22SPEAKER_13: I don't remember.
- 10:24SPEAKER_13: Hold on a second.
- 10:25SPEAKER_13: Yeah, let's see.
- 10:27SPEAKER_06: This is a big friggin' team.
- 10:28SPEAKER_13: Well, and that's what I told him yesterday.
- 10:30SPEAKER_13: I said, you know what?
- 10:32SPEAKER_13: Um Charlie was or Charlie's wife was saying that they had to cancel it because nobody showed up.
- 10:38SPEAKER_13: So I'm wondering if we put this team together, are we gonna be split up and compete against each other?
- 10:44SPEAKER_13: No, I would suck.
- 10:45SPEAKER_13: Because nobody's nobody's taking taken part.
- 10:48SPEAKER_13: Uh so like I said, uh Bill and his wife and his daughter, Brennan Blackstone, uh, you, me, Pat, that's seven.
- 10:58SPEAKER_13: And he was trying to get somebody else.
- 11:01SPEAKER_13: Um but so we have seven people right now.
- 11:04SPEAKER_04: Alright.
- 11:05SPEAKER_13: Um and if he runs it the same way, it's it's fun.
- 11:10SPEAKER_13: And it's mostly sixties through the nineties.
- 11:13SPEAKER_13: Uh doesn't do anything like really new.
- 11:16SPEAKER_06: That's good because uh everything new sucks.
- 11:19SPEAKER_13: And he's and he's a big lover of music.
- 11:22SPEAKER_13: I mean, he used to DJ um he like like weddings and stuff like that.
- 11:26SPEAKER_13: Oh yeah.
- 11:27SPEAKER_13: And he has the 45s to prove it.
- 11:28SPEAKER_13: I mean he DJ'd with 45s.
- 11:30SPEAKER_13: Old school.
- 11:30SPEAKER_13: Oh, yeah, yeah.
- 11:31SPEAKER_13: And he's I mean, he's a he's um he's um musicologist, if you will.
- 11:37SPEAKER_13: He's really cool.
- 11:38SPEAKER_13: Sure.
- 11:38SPEAKER_13: Um, and he's retired and he's got nothing else to do, so I'm happy to come in and uh take part.
- 11:45SPEAKER_13: It'll be fun.
- 11:46SPEAKER_06: Maybe we'll just sit at the same place and compete against like me amongst ourselves.
- 11:50SPEAKER_13: Why not, right?
- 11:51SPEAKER_06: It'll be fun.
- 11:52SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 11:53SPEAKER_13: Um and what else we got going on?
- 11:54SPEAKER_13: So Friday is our first big shoe.
- 11:57SPEAKER_13: Really big shoe.
- 11:58SPEAKER_13: Really big shoe of the season.
- 12:00SPEAKER_13: Playing Mapleton Days.
- 12:02SPEAKER_13: Uh, I think it's a three hour set.
- 12:04SPEAKER_06: I yeah, pretty shanner something.
- 12:06SPEAKER_13: Yeah, I'm pretty sure it's a three hour set.
- 12:07SPEAKER_13: So so come on out to me.
- 12:09SPEAKER_13: Hopefully we don't get any rain.
- 12:10SPEAKER_13: Not supposed to.
- 12:11SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 12:12SPEAKER_13: So come on out and uh brave the bugs and uh have hear some fantastic music.
- 12:17SPEAKER_13: So if you're listening to this on Thursday, like I said, come out tomorrow night.
- 12:20SPEAKER_05: Yeah, but be the next day.
- 12:22SPEAKER_05: Right, be the next day.
- 12:23SPEAKER_05: Be tomorrow.
- 12:24SPEAKER_13: Um so what we could talk about today, I got a bunch of stuff that uh I want to talk about and I want to start with the passing of another one of maybe not your heroes, but definitely one of mine.
- 12:45SPEAKER_13: Um because he was a guitar player.
- 12:47SPEAKER_13: Do you know who I'm talking about?
- 12:48SPEAKER_13: I think so.
- 12:49SPEAKER_13: Yeah, it just it just happened like yesterday.
- 12:52SPEAKER_13: Um let me get a song here so I can start it in the right way.
- 12:59SPEAKER_13: Because this was the thing that got it all started for these guys.
- 13:01SPEAKER_13: And this was his song.
- 13:02SPEAKER_13: He wrote this.
- 13:06SPEAKER_13: So this is Bad Company, the legendary Mick Ralph.
- 13:10SPEAKER_13: Right, that's what guitar player uh and songwriter.
- 13:13SPEAKER_13: He wrote this, he wrote a bunch of stuff for Bad Company, big hits.
- 13:17SPEAKER_13: Um, he was also in Monttahoopol.
- 13:22SPEAKER_13: He had years ago, like I want to say 2016 maybe, he suffered a stroke.
- 13:30SPEAKER_04: Oh.
- 13:31SPEAKER_13: Like a like a major stroke, and he had been um not bedridden the whole time, but most of the time.
- 13:39SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 13:39SPEAKER_13: You know, I think they tried to get him up and around and move around, and you know, the other guys in the band they would visit him and they would keep in touch with him, and he'd keep track of bad company and stuff like that.
- 13:49SPEAKER_13: So he was he was, you know, knew everything that was going on.
- 13:54SPEAKER_13: Right.
- 13:54SPEAKER_13: But he just was kind of incapacitated, yeah, and uh finally overtook him.
- 13:59SPEAKER_13: Yeah, he was 81, I think.
- 14:02SPEAKER_13: 81 or 82.
- 14:03SPEAKER_13: Actually, I I have it right here, so let me see.
- 14:10SPEAKER_13: Um, 81.
- 14:14SPEAKER_13: And one of the first people to uh comment about the passing of Mick Rouse was Joe Elliott from Deaf Leopard.
- 14:25SPEAKER_13: He said, I just heard the news totally heartbroken.
- 14:26SPEAKER_13: Mick has been a constant companion through my musical journey, and he was one of the kindest souls I ever met.
- 14:32SPEAKER_13: The world is a poor place today.
- 14:35SPEAKER_13: And there's a bunch of people that uh that uh kind of put their put their uh kind words out there, words of remembrance for uh for Mick Ralph.
- 14:45SPEAKER_13: So, there you go.
- 14:53SPEAKER_13: Part of the fabric of rock and roll right there.
- 14:56SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 14:57SPEAKER_13: And they are going into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and our buddy Eddie Trunk was complaining about it again.
- 15:06SPEAKER_13: Like Paul Rogers of Bad Company has had a a few health scares recently.
- 15:12SPEAKER_13: Why do they wait this long to put them in?
- 15:17SPEAKER_13: It doesn't make any sense to me or him.
- 15:20SPEAKER_06: Well, it is the rock and roll all things.
- 15:22SPEAKER_06: It is the rock and roll hall thing.
- 15:23SPEAKER_06: You know, that's where common sense goes to die.
- 15:26SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 15:26SPEAKER_13: So but I mean, if you would have put them in even last year, Mick Ralphs would have would have been alive to see it.
- 15:33SPEAKER_03: Yep.
- 15:34SPEAKER_13: You know, and it just it baffles me.
- 15:38SPEAKER_13: Um you know who it doesn't baffle and who doesn't really care about the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame?
- 15:45SPEAKER_06: Let me guess.
- 15:47SPEAKER_06: I really don't know.
- 15:48SPEAKER_13: You really don't know?
- 15:49SPEAKER_13: You're gonna love this.
- 15:50SPEAKER_13: Carol Kay.
- 15:51SPEAKER_06: Oh, that makes sense.
- 15:52SPEAKER_13: Yep.
- 15:53SPEAKER_13: Um Carol Kay, of course, studio musician, the wrecking crew.
- 15:57SPEAKER_13: Yep.
- 15:57SPEAKER_13: Um fantastic bass player.
- 15:59SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 16:00SPEAKER_13: Played on everything in the 60s.
- 16:03SPEAKER_13: Everything.
- 16:03SPEAKER_13: She played on the Beach Boys, she played on, I mean, everything.
- 16:06SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 16:06SPEAKER_06: Pretty much if you listen to anything from like the 60s to like the early 80s.
- 16:11SPEAKER_06: Right.
- 16:11SPEAKER_06: Basically, that was Carol K.
- 16:13SPEAKER_13: Carol Kay's playing bass on.
- 16:14SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 16:14SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 16:15SPEAKER_13: So she said she's not going.
- 16:18SPEAKER_13: And and she's she's not accepting it.
- 16:21SPEAKER_13: Oh.
- 16:22SPEAKER_13: Because um, well, I'll just read you what she said.
- 16:26SPEAKER_13: People have been asking.
- 16:28SPEAKER_13: No, I won't be there.
- 16:30SPEAKER_13: I'm declining the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Awards show, tearing it down because it wasn't something that reflects the work that studio musicians do and did in the golden era of the 1960s recording hits.
- 16:41SPEAKER_13: You're always part of a team, not a solo artist at all.
- 16:47SPEAKER_13: So she's not going.
- 16:49SPEAKER_13: That makes sense.
- 16:49SPEAKER_13: Yeah, she says there were always three uh 350 to 40, 400 studio musicians.
- 16:55SPEAKER_13: Um, I was never a wrecker at all.
- 16:58SPEAKER_13: That's a terrible insulting name.
- 17:01SPEAKER_13: She's talking about the wrecking crew, maybe?
- 17:03SPEAKER_06: Sounds like it.
- 17:04SPEAKER_13: I don't know.
- 17:06SPEAKER_13: She said, uh let's see.
- 17:07SPEAKER_13: She detailed how she switched from guitar to bass out of necessity.
- 17:11SPEAKER_13: Just so you know, as a working jazz musician in the 1950s, working since 1949, I was accidentally asked to record records by producer Bumps Blackwell in 1957, got into recording good music with Sam Cook, other artists, and then accidentally placed on Fender Precision Bass mid-1963 when someone didn't show.
- 17:28SPEAKER_13: I never played bass in my life.
- 17:30SPEAKER_13: But being an experienced recording guitarist, it was plain to see that three bass players hired to play dum dee-dum on record dates, record dates, wasn't getting it.
- 17:39SPEAKER_13: It was easy for me to invent good bass lines.
- 17:41SPEAKER_13: As a jazz musician, you invent every note you play, and they used a lot of jazz musicians and former big band experienced musicians on all those rock and pop dates, too.
- 17:50SPEAKER_13: So she is nominated and is want they want her in inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and she's not going.
- 17:58SPEAKER_13: Oh good for her.
- 17:59SPEAKER_13: She's not gonna accept it.
- 18:00SPEAKER_13: So I thought that was refreshing.
- 18:02SPEAKER_06: Screw them.
- 18:03SPEAKER_13: Yeah, exactly.
- 18:04SPEAKER_06: Yeah, I don't need I don't need your stupid whatever this is.
- 18:09SPEAKER_06: Right.
- 18:09SPEAKER_06: Stupid music stuff.
- 18:12SPEAKER_13: If you get a chance to watch the uh the documentary, though, The Wrecking Crew.
- 18:16SPEAKER_13: Yeah, absolutely watch it.
- 18:18SPEAKER_13: So good.
- 18:18SPEAKER_06: Absolutely fantastic.
- 18:20SPEAKER_13: Yep.
- 18:21SPEAKER_13: Um and so moving on to uh July new music releases.
- 18:26SPEAKER_13: Because I have a couple of new tracks I want to play for you.
- 18:28SPEAKER_13: Alright.
- 18:29SPEAKER_13: I'll allow it.
- 18:31SPEAKER_13: But before we do that, I want to talk about some of the new stuff that's coming out in the month of July.
- 18:39SPEAKER_13: So and remember, we kind of we kind of skip um like reissues.
- 18:46SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 18:47SPEAKER_13: Live stuff.
- 18:48SPEAKER_13: Or or or great and live stuff, or greatest hits packages, but if it's a unless it absolutely interests us.
- 18:54SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 18:55SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 18:55SPEAKER_13: Uh for example, this is a song that I've been wanting the syndicate, our our band, to play for a long time.
- 19:04SPEAKER_13: And on July 4th, the Essential collection comes out.
- 19:09SPEAKER_13: This is the Havage White band.
- 19:11SPEAKER_13: Yep.
- 19:12SPEAKER_13: I think we could kill this song.
- 19:14SPEAKER_13: And that in a good way.
- 19:19SPEAKER_06: Oh, yeah, we would destroy this, right?
- 19:21SPEAKER_06: Yep.
- 19:31SPEAKER_13: I'll just keep that playing while I look here.
- 19:33SPEAKER_13: Um this is there's a reissue.
- 19:37SPEAKER_13: Um Jack Black and various artists, Minecraft movie uh soundtrack comes out.
- 19:43SPEAKER_13: Comes out July 4th.
- 19:43SPEAKER_13: I don't even know what that means.
- 19:45SPEAKER_13: Well, it's the new Minecraft movie.
- 19:46SPEAKER_13: I know what it is, but I don't do we care about the music.
- 19:50SPEAKER_06: I doubt it.
- 19:50SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 19:51SPEAKER_13: Uh let's see.
- 19:54SPEAKER_13: That's all for July 4th, apparently.
- 19:57SPEAKER_13: Um July 11th.
- 20:00SPEAKER_13: Uh that's another.
- 20:02SPEAKER_13: Oh, vinyl reissues from Billy Joel.
- 20:04SPEAKER_13: A bunch of them.
- 20:06SPEAKER_13: Um George Harrison.
- 20:07SPEAKER_06: I got a documentary coming out about him.
- 20:09SPEAKER_06: I know.
- 20:09SPEAKER_06: I'm excited about that.
- 20:10SPEAKER_06: July 18th.
- 20:11SPEAKER_13: Yeah, I'm excited about that.
- 20:12SPEAKER_13: Um George Harrison Let It Roll, songs by George Harrison.
- 20:16SPEAKER_13: First ever 2LP release.
- 20:19SPEAKER_13: Um Jeffrey Foskett.
- 20:26SPEAKER_13: Of The Beach Boys?
- 20:28SPEAKER_03: What?
- 20:29SPEAKER_13: Uh something there.
- 20:31SPEAKER_13: Remembering Jeffrey Foskett with Brian Wilson, Mike Love, Robert Lamb, Christopher Cross, and others.
- 20:38SPEAKER_13: I don't know who Jeffrey Foskett is.
- 20:40SPEAKER_13: Never heard of him.
- 20:41SPEAKER_13: I wonder if he played in The Beach Boys and passed away, and so somebody did a tribute.
- 20:45SPEAKER_13: Hard to say.
- 20:45SPEAKER_13: I really I have never heard that name.
- 20:48SPEAKER_13: I consider I consider myself a huge music fan, and I've never heard that name.
- 20:52SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 20:52SPEAKER_06: You got me, dude.
- 20:53SPEAKER_13: Uh, let's see.
- 20:53SPEAKER_13: That's a reissue.
- 20:54SPEAKER_13: That's a bird.
- 20:56SPEAKER_13: That's a bird.
- 20:57SPEAKER_13: Uh Steve Hackett.
- 20:58SPEAKER_13: That's a live one.
- 21:00SPEAKER_13: Um those are reissues.
- 21:04SPEAKER_13: Alright.
- 21:05SPEAKER_13: So this one is new.
- 21:07SPEAKER_13: July 18th.
- 21:09SPEAKER_13: Sticks has a new album, Circling from Above.
- 21:13SPEAKER_13: Ah, that explains the bird.
- 21:15SPEAKER_13: This is this is their first single, which is called Build and Destroy.
- 21:56SPEAKER_13: So, this is probably their version here.
- 22:08SPEAKER_06: Back to the bird.
- 22:10SPEAKER_13: I mean it's it's no renegade or blue-collar man.
- 22:14SPEAKER_13: It's not bad though.
- 22:14SPEAKER_13: No, it's good.
- 22:16SPEAKER_09: We can conceive until I have dreams that came true.
- 22:25SPEAKER_13: Why do I wanna say why do I wanna say?
- 22:28SPEAKER_13: And this I'm just going on a limb on this.
- 22:31SPEAKER_13: I haven't read it anywhere.
- 22:34SPEAKER_13: But I bet this entire video is AI.
- 22:37SPEAKER_06: Oh, I guarantee it is.
- 22:39SPEAKER_13: Uh I bet because those like the band members, yeah.
- 22:42SPEAKER_13: I don't think they're real.
- 22:44SPEAKER_06: I don't think so either.
- 22:45SPEAKER_06: They don't look like anybody in the band.
- 22:49SPEAKER_13: I bet you this is entirely AI.
- 22:51SPEAKER_13: Look, that's JR or J Y Young.
- 23:02SPEAKER_13: That doesn't even look like Tommy Shaw.
- 23:06unknown: Yeah.
- 23:07SPEAKER_13: I mean they're close.
- 23:08SPEAKER_13: I mean it wouldn't I wouldn't doubt it.
- 23:16SPEAKER_13: I'm gonna look that up somewhere, but I bet you that video, Build and Destroy, is that what it's called?
- 23:20SPEAKER_13: I bet you that video is all AI.
- 23:22SPEAKER_13: I guarantee you this.
- 23:23SPEAKER_06: Everything's AI.
- 23:24SPEAKER_13: It's probably cheaper that way, too.
- 23:26SPEAKER_06: Probably.
- 23:26SPEAKER_13: Um also July 18th, Bush has a new album coming out.
- 23:31SPEAKER_13: Goody, I am so underwhelmed.
- 23:33SPEAKER_13: I beat loneliness.
- 23:36SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 23:36SPEAKER_13: That's the name of the album.
- 23:37SPEAKER_13: You beat something.
- 23:38SPEAKER_05: I beat loneliness.
- 23:40SPEAKER_05: Beat your friend.
- 23:41SPEAKER_13: Is that what we're calling it now?
- 23:42SPEAKER_06: Is loneliness?
- 23:45SPEAKER_06: I guess it's better than, you know, shaking hands with the unemployed.
- 23:53SPEAKER_13: Moving on.
- 23:53SPEAKER_13: Sorry, Blanchard Children.
- 23:55SPEAKER_13: Moving on.
- 23:55SPEAKER_13: Joe Bonamasa's got a new album coming out.
- 23:57SPEAKER_13: Oh, cool.
- 23:58SPEAKER_13: That's called Breakthrough.
- 23:59SPEAKER_13: Uh, and that also comes out July 18th.
- 24:01SPEAKER_13: Nice.
- 24:02SPEAKER_13: Um that's another Oh, uh Various Artists.
- 24:09SPEAKER_13: I'll I'll talk about this.
- 24:10SPEAKER_13: I Wanna Be A Teen Again.
- 24:12SPEAKER_13: American Power Pop, 1980 to 89.
- 24:15SPEAKER_13: It's a three-cd box with Cheap Trick, the Ramones, Bangles, Smithereens, Eric Carmen, the Gogo's, and more.
- 24:22SPEAKER_13: Wow, that sounds kind of cool.
- 24:23SPEAKER_13: I'd actually get that.
- 24:24SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 24:25SPEAKER_13: Um We did we listen to this one?
- 24:28SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 24:29SPEAKER_13: Black Mamba?
- 24:30SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 24:30SPEAKER_13: Okay, so new music from Alice Cooper, the original Alice Cooper band, uh called The Revenge of Alice Cooper comes out July 25th.
- 24:39SPEAKER_13: Um, let's see, that's an expanded reissue.
- 24:44SPEAKER_13: Elton John's got a live one coming out.
- 24:47SPEAKER_13: That's a reissue.
- 24:50SPEAKER_13: Um Gore.
- 24:52SPEAKER_06: Gore?
- 24:52SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 24:53SPEAKER_06: I didn't know they were.
- 24:55SPEAKER_13: The return of Gore Gore.
- 24:58SPEAKER_13: Um what a weird band.
- 25:02SPEAKER_13: Oh yeah.
- 25:03SPEAKER_13: Uh let's see.
- 25:04SPEAKER_13: Nick Drake, the making of five leaves left.
- 25:08SPEAKER_13: Hallweller, find El Dorado.
- 25:11SPEAKER_13: Doesn't say that these are releases, so I'm assuming they knew that they're going to release it.
- 25:15SPEAKER_13: Uh August and beyond.
- 25:23SPEAKER_13: Alright.
- 25:24SPEAKER_13: Elvis Presley.
- 25:27SPEAKER_13: Got a box set coming out.
- 25:28SPEAKER_13: Sunset.
- 25:33SPEAKER_13: Uh Roger Waters, this is not a drill.
- 25:35SPEAKER_13: Live from Prague.
- 25:38SPEAKER_13: Alright.
- 25:39SPEAKER_13: Um Black Keys, that's a reissue.
- 25:42SPEAKER_13: Or a vinyl release, I should say.
- 25:44SPEAKER_13: Oh, maybe no, no, that's a new one.
- 25:46SPEAKER_13: Black Keys.
- 25:46SPEAKER_13: No rain, no flowers.
- 25:47SPEAKER_13: Okay.
- 25:48SPEAKER_13: So they're releasing it on C D Digital.
- 25:51SPEAKER_13: C Digital and Emerald Green vinyl releases.
- 25:56SPEAKER_13: Uh John Fogarty, a legacy, the Creed's Clearwater Revival Years.
- 26:00SPEAKER_13: I thought he had already released that.
- 26:03SPEAKER_13: Um Let's see, that's a reissue.
- 26:05SPEAKER_13: That's a reissue.
- 26:07SPEAKER_13: Uh Glenn Hughes has a solo album coming out sometime in August or later.
- 26:12SPEAKER_13: It's called Chosen.
- 26:13SPEAKER_13: Cool.
- 26:14SPEAKER_13: Uh, and that's it.
- 26:15SPEAKER_13: That's what we got for the month of July and further.
- 26:20SPEAKER_12: Alright.
- 26:20SPEAKER_13: Rock on! So speaking of new music, we've got a couple of new ones for you to hear.
- 26:26SPEAKER_13: Do you remember was it last week or the week before?
- 26:28SPEAKER_13: I think it was the week before.
- 26:30SPEAKER_13: We talked about the uh Willie Nelson Steve Perry thing.
- 26:33SPEAKER_06: Yeah, that was terrible.
- 26:34SPEAKER_13: Yeah, it was terrible.
- 26:35SPEAKER_13: Yeah, really, really bad.
- 26:37SPEAKER_06: You got another one?
- 26:38SPEAKER_13: Uh I got another one.
- 26:39SPEAKER_13: I haven't heard it yet.
- 26:39SPEAKER_06: Okay.
- 26:41SPEAKER_13: There's not no, it's not Willie Nelson.
- 26:44SPEAKER_13: Um, let's see.
- 26:47SPEAKER_13: Motley Crue and Country Legend Dolly Parton have teamed up to release a new version of Home Sweet Home.
- 26:54SPEAKER_06: You know, it's funny, when I came in, it didn't look like the world was in it.
- 26:59SPEAKER_13: Um look pretty normal.
- 27:01SPEAKER_13: I'm trying to think of uh here we go.
- 27:04SPEAKER_13: This is what I was looking for.
- 27:06SPEAKER_13: This version of Home Sweet Home is featured on the band's newly announced Greatest Hits compilation, From the Beginning, which arrives on September 19th.
- 27:14SPEAKER_13: By Martley Crew or Dolly Barton?
- 27:16SPEAKER_13: Martley Crue.
- 27:17SPEAKER_13: It will be Martley Crue's ninth career spanning compilation, matching the number of original studio albums they have released to date.
- 27:23SPEAKER_13: So they have nine studio albums.
- 27:25SPEAKER_13: And nine compilations and this will be nine greatest hits packages.
- 27:30SPEAKER_13: And if you buy this, you're an idiot.
- 27:33SPEAKER_13: Or a collector, I guess.
- 27:35SPEAKER_06: I I guess so.
- 27:37SPEAKER_06: Yeah, I mean unless it's got new music, but uh which I assume this is what's this is this is this is what this is, yeah.
- 27:43SPEAKER_13: And I don't know what other songs uh it features.
- 27:47SPEAKER_13: Uh okay, well it says the group will also team up with their friends and former tour partners uh Jeff Leppard in the Rock the Tides weekend destination concert in November.
- 27:55SPEAKER_13: No, okay.
- 27:56SPEAKER_13: I was looking for something else from the album, but so far this is all I know is on the album as a new release.
- 28:02SPEAKER_13: This is Home Sweet Home, Motley Crue, and Dolly Parton.
- 28:07SPEAKER_13: Now, I love Dolly Parton, don't get me wrong.
- 28:09SPEAKER_13: I'm not a huge fan of Motley Crue, to be honest.
- 28:11SPEAKER_13: Right.
- 28:20SPEAKER_13: Oh, it's about homelessness.
- 28:26SPEAKER_07: I'm a dreamer, but my heart's a gold.
- 28:32SPEAKER_07: I had a run away high.
- 28:35SPEAKER_06: Okay.
- 28:35SPEAKER_06: That is not him now.
- 28:36SPEAKER_13: It is not.
- 28:37SPEAKER_13: I was not I was just gonna say.
- 28:39SPEAKER_06: Yeah, that is not him.
- 28:40SPEAKER_13: They did not re-record this.
- 28:41SPEAKER_13: They may have re-recorded it, but those are his vocals from the original.
- 28:45SPEAKER_13: Yes.
- 28:46SPEAKER_13: Because Vince Gill does not do it.
- 28:47SPEAKER_13: Vince Gill.
- 28:48SPEAKER_13: Vince Neal.
- 28:49SPEAKER_02: When did Vince Gill get in the Marlin crew?
- 28:52SPEAKER_02: What is happening?
- 28:53SPEAKER_13: Actually, Vince Gill sounds better today than he has.
- 28:55SPEAKER_13: Oh, yeah, he sounds great now.
- 28:56SPEAKER_13: But Vince Neal doesn't.
- 28:57SPEAKER_13: Uh so this is the original vocal.
- 29:01SPEAKER_07: Come home, just when things will ride.
- 29:05SPEAKER_07: I don't mind that.
- 29:15SPEAKER_07: Take me to your heart.
- 30:40SPEAKER_06: Well, this explains a lot because I saw a picture of Dolly with Nikki Six.
- 30:45SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 30:45SPEAKER_13: And I was like, Yeah, he's weird.
- 30:48SPEAKER_13: He was recording her.
- 30:48SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 30:49SPEAKER_13: In the studio.
- 30:50SPEAKER_13: This is this is um uh they didn't re-record the song.
- 30:56SPEAKER_06: No, they just added Dolly Parton.
- 30:57SPEAKER_13: They just added Dolly Parton, and I think that's cheap.
- 31:00SPEAKER_06: It is, but I mean she sounds good.
- 31:02SPEAKER_13: She makes it she makes it sound way better.
- 31:04SPEAKER_13: She sounds amazing.
- 31:05SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 31:05SPEAKER_13: I do think it makes it sound better.
- 31:07SPEAKER_13: Yeah, it makes a song way better.
- 31:12SPEAKER_06: Yeah, they're not even using like updated footage of that.
- 31:15SPEAKER_06: No, no, no.
- 31:15SPEAKER_06: You know, this is all the stuff from the 90s.
- 31:17SPEAKER_13: Yeah, and they're going between footage.
- 31:19SPEAKER_06: They're just like interspersing like homelessness stuff in there.
- 31:34SPEAKER_13: See now I get into um intent when I see something like this.
- 31:46SPEAKER_13: Yes, obviously we have a homelessness problem.
- 31:49SPEAKER_13: Right.
- 31:50SPEAKER_13: And but the ultimate intent on this is to sell this collection.
- 31:57SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 31:58SPEAKER_13: So they've recruited Dolly Parton and they've made a video interspersing the original video of them in concert with her in the studio singing her part with uh black and white footage of people walking on the street with homelessness.
- 32:17SPEAKER_13: With statistics, you know, about homelessness.
- 32:20SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 32:21SPEAKER_13: I don't I I don't know why it doesn't feel genuine to me.
- 32:26SPEAKER_13: It's i I mean, obviously they want to do something good.
- 32:31SPEAKER_13: Or she does.
- 32:32SPEAKER_06: Well, I mean, I mean, are portions of the sales of this going to homelessness?
- 32:37SPEAKER_06: That's a great question.
- 32:38SPEAKER_13: If they were, I would have no problem with that.
- 32:40SPEAKER_06: I mean, if that's it, awesome.
- 32:42SPEAKER_06: More power to you, but if this is just a map, you know, trying to get people to buy this, you know, ninth compilation album.
- 32:52SPEAKER_13: Right.
- 32:54SPEAKER_13: And it's funny, in the write-up for this, it doesn't say anything about the video.
- 33:02SPEAKER_13: Uh and and the intent.
- 33:10SPEAKER_13: They're all just talking about it's all just talking about the the collection, the definitive collection.
- 33:15SPEAKER_06: Of course it is.
- 33:16SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 33:17SPEAKER_13: Which makes me think that it's just a ploy to sell this.
- 33:21SPEAKER_13: And that's business.
- 33:22SPEAKER_13: I understand.
- 33:23SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 33:24SPEAKER_06: But I mean, nowadays, if you want to sell an album, yeah, heck yeah, put Dolly Parton on your album.
- 33:29SPEAKER_06: It'll sell, man.
- 33:30unknown: Yeah.
- 33:31SPEAKER_13: You know what I mean?
- 33:32SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 33:34SPEAKER_13: I don't know.
- 33:35SPEAKER_13: I I like it.
- 33:35SPEAKER_13: I like Dolly Parton.
- 33:37SPEAKER_13: Sounds great on that.
- 33:37SPEAKER_13: Ah, absolutely.
- 33:38SPEAKER_13: She really, she really does.
- 33:38SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 33:39SPEAKER_13: I'm not taking away from that.
- 33:40SPEAKER_06: Makes it a way better song.
- 33:41SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 33:41SPEAKER_13: I agree.
- 33:42SPEAKER_13: I agree.

- 34:05SPEAKER_13: I think I'm pretty sure it's Rob.
- 34:07SPEAKER_13: Um but uh uh these guys create awesome music.
- 34:12SPEAKER_13: So I'm curious as to what this sounds like.
- 34:13SPEAKER_13: I haven't heard this one yet either.
- 34:15SPEAKER_13: So this is one more satellite featuring Dean Delio of Stone Table Pilots, and it's called Can of Worms.
- 34:51SPEAKER_13: Oh, I'm gonna stop right there.
- 34:53SPEAKER_13: That sounds like it could be an ST.
- 34:55SPEAKER_06: I was just gonna say that's STP right there.
- 34:57SPEAKER_13: Isn't it?
- 34:58SPEAKER_13: Yeah, I mean obviously.
- 35:16SPEAKER_13: Almost a little ACDC.
- 35:20SPEAKER_04: Yeah I like it.
- 35:31SPEAKER_04: Yeah, it's good.
- 35:44SPEAKER_09: I can find this a fit.
- 35:49SPEAKER_09: I was taking the dead.
- 35:52SPEAKER_06: Now is the song called Can of Worms or is the band called Can of Worms?
- 35:56SPEAKER_13: The song is called Can of Worms.
- 35:57SPEAKER_13: The band is called One More Satellite.
- 35:59SPEAKER_13: One more satellite.

- 36:23SPEAKER_06: Yeah, I'd like it.
- 36:24SPEAKER_06: Yeah, I do too.
- 36:24SPEAKER_06: When's that coming out?
- 36:26SPEAKER_13: Uh let's see.
- 36:30SPEAKER_13: The pair will release their self-titled debut album via Symphonic July 18th.
- 36:35SPEAKER_13: Oh, so yeah, pretty pretty quick.
- 36:37SPEAKER_13: Pretty quick, yeah.
- 36:38SPEAKER_13: Um they previewed the forthcoming uh set with the initial single Paper Over the Cracks in early May.
- 36:47SPEAKER_13: I'm kind of uh interested to see what that sounds like.
- 36:50SPEAKER_13: You mind if I do it, man.
- 36:52SPEAKER_13: Uh let's see.
- 36:52SPEAKER_06: Because if it's good, man, I want to check it out.
- 36:54SPEAKER_13: Yeah, so let's see.
- 36:55SPEAKER_13: This is Paper Over the Cracks from the same band, one more satellite.
- 37:04SPEAKER_06: It's like STP and Alison Chains.
- 37:07SPEAKER_06: Right?
- 37:09SPEAKER_13: You're just expecting you're expecting Scott Wyland to come in.
- 37:11SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 37:59SPEAKER_13: Yeah, I I I like that.
- 38:00SPEAKER_13: So keep that band in mind.
- 38:01SPEAKER_13: One more satellite is the name of it.
- 38:04SPEAKER_13: No, the whole thing comes out July 18th.
- 38:07SPEAKER_13: That's good stuff, man.
- 38:08SPEAKER_13: Very good.
- 38:08SPEAKER_13: Ah, dig it.
- 38:09SPEAKER_13: Very, very good.
- 38:10SPEAKER_13: Speaking of uh new stuff that's pretty good.
- 38:12SPEAKER_13: I was, I told you I had my daughter, uh, she had swim team this morning, so I was sitting in my air-conditioned vehicle just scrolling.
- 38:20SPEAKER_13: Smart.
- 38:20SPEAKER_13: Waiting for her to get done.
- 38:24SPEAKER_13: And I love, you remember there was a band that I had discovered just scrolling Instagram.
- 38:29SPEAKER_13: I almost I forgot the name of the band, but I showed us.
- 38:32SPEAKER_06: Yeah, they were really good.
- 38:33SPEAKER_06: They were though.
- 38:34SPEAKER_06: That guy with the guitar?
- 38:35SPEAKER_06: Awesome.
- 38:36SPEAKER_13: Shut up.
- 38:37SPEAKER_13: Well, I found another band.
- 38:39SPEAKER_13: Okay.
- 38:39SPEAKER_13: And I think you'll like them.
- 38:41SPEAKER_13: Um they're old like us.
- 38:44SPEAKER_13: All right.
- 38:45SPEAKER_13: Um, and I suppose I should get rid of one in the wind gall.
- 38:51SPEAKER_13: There we go.
- 38:51SPEAKER_13: Um, I don't know if I can.
- 38:54SPEAKER_13: Okay, so this is a lyric video for one of their songs.
- 39:00SPEAKER_13: I want to see if I can because they on Instagram they had released uh like four songs.
- 39:07SPEAKER_13: Um so I just want to see what they have on.
- 39:11SPEAKER_13: Let's see if there's a studio documentary.
- 39:14SPEAKER_13: Let's see if I can singles.
- 39:15SPEAKER_13: Okay, so here's maybe I can listen to music.
- 39:19SPEAKER_13: So one, two, three, yeah, there's like four songs.
- 39:22SPEAKER_13: We were like now I like this because we love um yacht rock.
- 39:30SPEAKER_13: Yeah, music in general.
- 39:32SPEAKER_13: But yacht rock.
- 39:33SPEAKER_13: We like music! This is true.
- 39:36SPEAKER_13: Uh yacht rock.
- 39:38SPEAKER_13: Okay?
- 39:39SPEAKER_13: So these guys, I at least a couple other songs sounded very yacht rock to me.
- 39:45SPEAKER_13: Um I'm just gonna play you like a couple of them.
- 39:48SPEAKER_13: So you tell me if you dig this.
- 39:50SPEAKER_13: This is a band called Working Royals.
- 39:54SPEAKER_13: And the first song is called Gin Egg.
- 40:02SPEAKER_08: This one didn't sound yacht rock to me, but you live your laughter store, the world is getting a little bit more.
- 40:13SPEAKER_08: Or maybe it does.
- 40:14SPEAKER_08: You know, yacht rocket.
- 40:18SPEAKER_08: What's this do you feel is no break of sensibility, right?
- 41:12SPEAKER_06: I mean, it's not as good as our jetty song, but it's pretty good, man.
- 41:18SPEAKER_06: I like it a lot.
- 41:19SPEAKER_06: I dig it.
- 41:19SPEAKER_06: It's it's really it's peppy and great melody.
- 41:23SPEAKER_05: I agree.
- 41:24SPEAKER_05: I like it a lot, man.
- 41:26SPEAKER_13: And it's just it's straight up just like fun pop rock.
- 41:29SPEAKER_13: Yeah, it's fucking awesome.
- 41:31SPEAKER_13: Um, and then so there's this, there's only one, two, three, I think there's four.
- 41:35SPEAKER_13: And I like, I think Jenny probably is my favorite one.
- 41:38SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 41:39SPEAKER_13: But uh, I'm gonna play a couple more, and this was one called Time.
- 41:48SPEAKER_11: Why you gotta go and shut slow me down, just the chord changes themselves.
- 41:59SPEAKER_13: Sound very 70s to me.
- 42:07SPEAKER_11: And they don't even have an album out yet, you take forgive a second that you ever give You run out of the moment that I start to live with my memo.
- 42:29SPEAKER_13: So I guess you follow them on Instagram, they got all they're recording in the studio right now, all right?
- 42:33SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 42:52SPEAKER_11: They told me you would heal my wound, but I know that can't be true.
- 42:59unknown: My heart is because of you.
- 43:03SPEAKER_13: They told me you would heal my wounds, yeah, but I know that isn't true because I hurt because of you.
- 43:10SPEAKER_13: It's that's good.
- 43:11SPEAKER_13: He's singing two times.
- 43:12SPEAKER_13: That's good.
- 43:12SPEAKER_13: Yeah, right?
- 43:13SPEAKER_13: I think it's pretty cool.
- 43:14SPEAKER_13: Uh, here's one called Chasing the Night.
- 43:17SPEAKER_13: I think this is out of the four, this is my least favorite, but that's okay.
- 43:20SPEAKER_13: This is your least favorite?
- 43:21SPEAKER_13: Least favorite, yeah.
- 43:27SPEAKER_06: Oh, this is very uh rock.
- 43:28SPEAKER_06: Oh yeah.
- 43:35SPEAKER_13: And I still like it, even though it's my least favorite, I still like it.
- 43:44SPEAKER_09: I can see the city going all rooms through the darkness we can fly.
- 43:55SPEAKER_09: I can barely hear you, but I love the way your lips move.
- 44:40SPEAKER_06: See now that might this might be my favorite one.
- 44:42SPEAKER_13: Really?
- 44:42SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 44:43SPEAKER_13: I like I said, out of the four, this was my least favorite.
- 44:46SPEAKER_13: I still love it.
- 44:46SPEAKER_13: I think yeah, this is this is really good to me.
- 44:49SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 44:49SPEAKER_13: I like it.
- 44:50SPEAKER_13: And then the last one I'm gonna show you is called Driving in the Rain.
- 44:53SPEAKER_13: Show me?
- 44:54SPEAKER_03: You're gonna show it to me.
- 44:55SPEAKER_03: Well, I'm gonna play it for you.
- 44:57SPEAKER_03: Look, Doug.
- 44:58SPEAKER_03: You can't listen to it, but I can look at it.
- 45:01SPEAKER_03: Are you done?
- 45:02unknown: Yeah.
- 45:03SPEAKER_06: Sorry.
- 45:08SPEAKER_06: See, this is very very uh rocky.
- 45:12SPEAKER_06: Driving in the rain.
- 45:13SPEAKER_06: Yep.
- 45:15SPEAKER_06: But it's sunny there.
- 45:18SPEAKER_06: I'm very confused.
- 45:19SPEAKER_06: Just listen.
- 45:20SPEAKER_06: Okay.
- 45:32SPEAKER_13: I just love that someone is making this music.
- 45:35SPEAKER_13: This is great, right?
- 45:40SPEAKER_10: Oh let me back to the face.
- 46:09SPEAKER_13: I don't know why Doctor Hook comes into mind.
- 46:11SPEAKER_13: Or the little or the Little River band.
- 46:13SPEAKER_06: Yeah, but I mean it's all that same same time period.
- 46:16SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 46:16SPEAKER_06: This is great stuff, man.
- 46:18SPEAKER_13: And I'm I'm guessing I haven't learned anything about the band.
- 46:21SPEAKER_13: Just I've heard the music.
- 46:22SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 46:23SPEAKER_13: And I follow them on Instagram now.
- 46:25SPEAKER_13: And I'm looking at their website.
- 46:26SPEAKER_13: Apparently they're Canadian.
- 46:29unknown: Wow.
- 46:29SPEAKER_06: I don't think we should hold that against them.
- 46:31SPEAKER_06: No, no.
- 46:31SPEAKER_05: But you know.
- 46:32SPEAKER_05: Workingroyals.ca.
- 46:35SPEAKER_05: Wow.
- 46:36SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 46:38SPEAKER_05: But I this is the best thing to come out of Canada since Rush.
- 46:43SPEAKER_05: Right.
- 46:45SPEAKER_13: But when did the Bare Naked Ladies come out?
- 46:47SPEAKER_13: Oh yeah, forget about that.
- 46:50unknown: Poop.
- 46:51SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 46:51SPEAKER_06: Okay.
- 46:52SPEAKER_06: Best thing to come out of Canada since the Bare Naked Ladies and Rush.
- 46:55SPEAKER_13: There you go.
- 46:55SPEAKER_13: Well, I but keep your eye out for them.
- 46:57SPEAKER_13: Working Royals.
- 46:58SPEAKER_06: Dude, you know what would be awesome?
- 46:59SPEAKER_06: What?
- 47:00SPEAKER_06: If we could get them on the podcast.
- 47:01SPEAKER_06: Wouldn't it be awesome?
- 47:02SPEAKER_06: That would be sweet.
- 47:02SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 47:03SPEAKER_06: That'd be fun.

- 47:17SPEAKER_13: Sorry.
- 47:19SPEAKER_13: Are they calling?
- 47:20SPEAKER_13: Hell! Yes, what can we do for you?
- 47:23SPEAKER_06: Are you guys listening to our songs?
- 47:26SPEAKER_13: Uh about uh Working Royals have been writing and playing for decades, just not always with each other.
- 47:31SPEAKER_13: Although the band lives in both Vancouver and Toronto, these longtime friends maintain a close cross-country connection at all times.
- 47:37SPEAKER_13: After years of back and forth chats, exchanging song ideas, dreaming and planning, Working Royals founding members Zach Kellum, Ben Finkelman, and Paul Meehan decided it was time to get together to write, record, and produce an album of new songs.
- 47:49SPEAKER_13: Songs that have lived in their heads and in their voice memos for far too long.
- 47:53SPEAKER_13: So that's kind of cool.
- 47:55SPEAKER_13: Um they say the Working Royals sound is the result of a long-standing love affair with 70s and 80s rock of all types.
- 48:01SPEAKER_13: Yeah, you can tell.
- 48:02SPEAKER_13: And the combined effort of some great musicians, engineers, and producers.
- 48:05SPEAKER_06: Oh heck yeah, dude.
- 48:07SPEAKER_06: That is friggin' hot, dude.
- 48:09SPEAKER_06: I love it.

- 48:36SPEAKER_06: You know.
- 48:38SPEAKER_06: Just saying.
- 48:39SPEAKER_06: I love Canada, I'm sorry.

- 48:44SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 48:45SPEAKER_06: Well, just because, you know, half my family is from there.
- 48:48SPEAKER_13: Right.

- 48:51SPEAKER_06: So yeah.
- 48:52SPEAKER_06: It's like how do you the only I mean because that's where Sabian symbols are made.

- 49:00SPEAKER_06: Which is why I play Sabian symbols.
- 49:02SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 49:02SPEAKER_06: But it's kind of like the Mississippi of New Brunswick.
- 49:06SPEAKER_06: Right.

- 49:09SPEAKER_13: You know?
- 49:09SPEAKER_13: I like the how let me rephrase that.

- 53:03SPEAKER_06: That's a good one.
- 53:04SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 53:04SPEAKER_06: Or slowing it down with songs like Mustang Sally by Wicked Wilson Pickett, or Marvin Gay's Sexual Healing.
- 53:11SPEAKER_06: Oh, yeah.
- 53:11SPEAKER_06: Very good choices.
- 53:13SPEAKER_06: I decided to go with Donna Summer's Hot Stuff.
- 53:16SPEAKER_06: Say what you want about disco.
- 53:17SPEAKER_06: Donna could belt it out, and it's a great dance tune.
- 53:20SPEAKER_06: Honorable mention to David Rose's the stripper.
- 53:23SPEAKER_06: You can't go wrong with the classic.
- 53:28SPEAKER_13: Yeah, I thought this the stripper from David Rose would have been just like too easy.
- 53:31SPEAKER_06: Yeah, that's uh that's a that's a low-hanging fruit there.
- 53:34SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 53:51SPEAKER_13: This is an awful quick strip tease.
- 53:58SPEAKER_02: You ready?
- 54:01SPEAKER_02: But you kinda want that in the strip tease.
- 54:02SPEAKER_02: It's like, get to the good stuff.
- 54:10SPEAKER_02: I know I next okay.
- 54:13SPEAKER_05: So you don't want I don't want to be looking at your watch.
- 54:17SPEAKER_05: Jesus, this is over yet.
- 54:20SPEAKER_02: Do I pay you an hour or later?
- 54:24SPEAKER_02: Nice ankles.
- 54:25SPEAKER_02: Nice ankles, your sorry.
- 54:30SPEAKER_13: Sorry, Blanchard should be.
- 54:31SPEAKER_02: Sorry, Blanchard Shoulder.
- 54:33SPEAKER_13: Oh my gosh, my belly hurts.
- 54:35SPEAKER_13: All right.
- 54:35SPEAKER_02: What's your well I was like, because I was thinking about it, I was like, man, I want this over quickly.
- 54:41SPEAKER_06: Should I repick a Ramon song?
- 54:42SPEAKER_06: He was like, what?
- 54:43SPEAKER_06: Don't do anymore.
- 54:48SPEAKER_06: But I did.
- 54:49SPEAKER_06: Uh I went with uh Dirty Movies by Van Halen.
- 54:52SPEAKER_06: Oh wow.
- 54:53SPEAKER_06: Just because of that whole breakdown where David Lee Ross like, take it off! Take it off.
- 55:08SPEAKER_13: Jeez, anything Van Halen, I would have, you know, I'm not gonna argue with that.
- 55:13SPEAKER_06: Mike Lamity baseline is just dick.
- 55:16SPEAKER_06: And you can hear it.
- 55:17SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 55:18SPEAKER_06: Even better.
- 55:35SPEAKER_06: And this is about the right tempo.
- 55:37SPEAKER_06: Yeah, it is, it's just a lot of things.
- 56:29SPEAKER_13: This is the part you were talking about.
- 56:35SPEAKER_13: Woo! Good choice.
- 56:42SPEAKER_13: Always good to go with Van Halen.
- 56:45SPEAKER_13: Okay, so that's you and cousin Larry.
- 56:47SPEAKER_13: Alright, I went from a lyrical standpoint.
- 56:49SPEAKER_13: Okay.
- 56:50SPEAKER_13: At least the first part of the song.
- 56:51SPEAKER_13: Sure.
- 56:52SPEAKER_13: Um, so three far.
- 56:55SPEAKER_13: This is mine.
- 57:00SPEAKER_09: If you want it.
- 57:06SPEAKER_08: Yeah, walk into that one.
- 57:30SPEAKER_05: That's how I've been married 28 years as you go.
- 57:36SPEAKER_06: I said that I was gonna say this was the voice of experience.
- 57:44SPEAKER_13: So that's that's bad finger.
- 57:46SPEAKER_13: Uh come and get it.
- 57:48SPEAKER_13: Good choice.
- 57:48SPEAKER_13: Uh written by Paul McCartney, actually.
- 57:50SPEAKER_13: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 57:51SPEAKER_13: Did he ever do a version of this?
- 57:53SPEAKER_06: I don't think so.
- 57:54SPEAKER_06: As like a demo or I don't he might have, but I he never released it, I don't think.
- 58:00SPEAKER_06: Of course, it's hard to tell with Paul.
- 58:02SPEAKER_06: You know.
- 58:03SPEAKER_06: He's shifty like that.
- 58:07SPEAKER_13: Oh, there well it's on the anthology.
- 58:09SPEAKER_13: Oh, it is?
- 58:10SPEAKER_13: Wow.
- 58:10SPEAKER_13: Wait, come and get it studio demo.
- 58:12SPEAKER_13: Oh, okay.
- 58:12SPEAKER_13: Hold on.
- 58:13SPEAKER_13: Let's see here.
- 58:13SPEAKER_11: Red light.
- 58:15SPEAKER_11: Demo take long.
- 58:21SPEAKER_06: Yeah, that's it.
- 58:23SPEAKER_06: That's the Beatles.
- 58:25SPEAKER_09: If you want it, he read it.
- 58:28SPEAKER_09: Come and get it.
- 58:30SPEAKER_06: You must have given it to them when they're because they're on it.
- 58:34SPEAKER_06: They were the signed Apple Records.
- 58:36SPEAKER_09: If you want it anyway.
- 58:38SPEAKER_13: Yeah, because this is a I don't think this was on.
- 58:40SPEAKER_06: This was never on any album.
- 58:43SPEAKER_13: Beatles album, no.
- 58:44SPEAKER_13: So.
- 58:44SPEAKER_13: Alright, so it was Dawn of Summer Hot Stuff for Cousin Larry.
- 58:49SPEAKER_13: Uh Dirty Movies from Van Halen for you.
- 58:51SPEAKER_13: And come and get it by Badfinger.
- 58:53SPEAKER_13: Yes.
- 58:54SPEAKER_13: For me.
- 58:55SPEAKER_13: All right.
- 58:56SPEAKER_13: Choices.
- 58:57SPEAKER_13: Yeah, baby.
- 58:58SPEAKER_13: So that is mixtape.
- 59:00SPEAKER_13: We're gonna take a break.
- 59:01SPEAKER_06: We gotta do the future, man.
- 59:02SPEAKER_06: Oh, that's right.
- 59:03SPEAKER_06: Thank you for.
- 59:04SPEAKER_06: Almost forgot.
- 59:04SPEAKER_06: Thank you, dude.
- 59:05SPEAKER_06: Thank you, thank you.
- 59:06SPEAKER_06: Okay, so this is next week's question.
- 59:08SPEAKER_06: Okay.
- 59:08SPEAKER_06: You just won the$60 million lottery.
- 59:12SPEAKER_06: What song plays as you go pick up your check?
- 59:18SPEAKER_13: I wanna start singing it right now, but.
- 59:20SPEAKER_03: Don't give it away.
- 59:26SPEAKER_13: I have an idea already.
- 59:27SPEAKER_13: Hopefully, I'll remember for next week.
- 59:29SPEAKER_13: Hopefully.
- 59:30SPEAKER_13: Alright, so now we're gonna take a break.
- 59:31SPEAKER_13: We're gonna come back and we're gonna climb the wall of tunes.
- 59:38SPEAKER_13: And I'm gonna tell you right now that the wall of tunes is rigged.
- 59:41SPEAKER_13: And I'll tell you why in a second.
- 59:43SPEAKER_03: Maybe I don't want to know why.
- 59:45SPEAKER_03: Did you ever think of that?
- 59:48SPEAKER_13: No.

- 1:01:12SPEAKER_13: Oh, you you didn't.
- 1:01:13SPEAKER_13: I did not.
- 1:01:14SPEAKER_13: Oh, well, okay.

- 1:01:21SPEAKER_13: Come and get it.
- 1:01:22SPEAKER_13: It must be.
- 1:01:24SPEAKER_13: And I'm gonna tell you the Wall of Tunes is rigged, but you still have to guess who it is.
- 1:01:28SPEAKER_13: That's kind of stupid.
- 1:01:32SPEAKER_06: Holding a fade, I think.
- 1:01:38SPEAKER_06: That's new.
- 1:01:41SPEAKER_06: That's about marijuana.
- 1:01:43SPEAKER_13: Is there an index in the back?
- 1:01:44SPEAKER_13: There it is, right here.
- 1:01:45SPEAKER_13: Oh, you got it?
- 1:01:46SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 1:01:46SPEAKER_13: Okay.
- 1:01:47SPEAKER_06: Let's read about that song, shall we?
- 1:01:50SPEAKER_06: Sure.
- 1:01:51SPEAKER_06: So this is about the very last song, dude.
- 1:01:54SPEAKER_03: It's the very last song in the book.
- 1:01:56SPEAKER_06: Okay.
- 1:01:57SPEAKER_06: Apple Films, which was being run by Dennis Odell, was we're planning a film of Terry Southern's 1958 novel, The Magic Christian.
- 1:02:05SPEAKER_06: And Odell had asked Paul to do the music.
- 1:02:07SPEAKER_06: Paul agreed, reluctantly, it now seems, with a shooting strip shooting script in hand, began to write.
- 1:02:15SPEAKER_06: He started with a song to be used over a scene where Sir Guy Grant, the world's richest man, played by Peter Sellers, throws banknotes into a vat of filth and gets pleasure from seeing respectable people wallowing in slime in the hopes of grabbing some free cash.
- 1:02:31SPEAKER_06: The idea came to him late at night while at Cavendish Avenue, and he came downstairs and taped it in a whisper as to not to wake Linda.
- 1:02:38SPEAKER_06: When he played it back the next day, he believed he had come up with a very catchy song.
- 1:02:42SPEAKER_06: On July 5th, 1969, one of the Apple label signings, a group called the Ivies, gave an interview to Disc and Music Echo, in which they complained of being neglected by the Beatles.
- 1:02:54SPEAKER_06: Three weeks later, Paul contacted the group and on July 29th, he met them at their home and offered them come and get it, which he'd recorded alone with engineer Phil McDonald five days previously at Abbey Road.
- 1:03:06SPEAKER_06: He also just suggested that they might take make other contributions to the film's soundtrack as he was trying to put his energy into recording the Abbey Road album.
- 1:03:16SPEAKER_06: Paul produced the group on August 2nd, choosing Tom Evans to do the lead vocal and encouraging him to stick to the simplicity of his demo, on which he'd only played piano, drums, bass, and maracas.
- 1:03:28SPEAKER_06: So this is all him.
- 1:03:31SPEAKER_06: He told him that if they did it right, he could guarantee them a hit, but if they didn't do it right, then he'd keep it for a Beatles single.
- 1:03:38SPEAKER_06: That challenge really made us work hard, said Evans.
- 1:03:41SPEAKER_06: By the time Come and Get It came out, the Ivies were Badfinger, after John's Badfinger Boogie.
- 1:03:47SPEAKER_06: The single reached the top five, and the group could no longer say they were neglected.
- 1:03:51SPEAKER_06: The soundtrack to the Magic Christian contained the three Badfinger songs, and in a move to capitalize on this, they titled their next album Magic Christian Music.
- 1:04:00SPEAKER_06: Hmm.
- 1:04:00SPEAKER_13: Interesting.
- 1:04:01SPEAKER_06: Asked whether Come and Get It was a veiled message to those squabbling over the Beatles' fortune in 1968.
- 1:04:07SPEAKER_06: Paul said, quote, it was just a straightforward pop song with all the old innuendos.
- 1:04:12SPEAKER_06: Come and get what?
- 1:04:14SPEAKER_06: Unquote.
- 1:04:15SPEAKER_13: So it works.
- 1:04:17SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 1:04:21SPEAKER_06: Wasn't Ringo in that movie?
- 1:04:23SPEAKER_06: Magic Christian?
- 1:04:24SPEAKER_13: I don't know.
- 1:04:24SPEAKER_06: I think he was.
- 1:04:25SPEAKER_13: I don't think I've seen that movie.
- 1:04:26SPEAKER_06: Yeah, I've never seen it, but I think I'm pretty sure he was in it.
- 1:04:30SPEAKER_06: I want to say he was the lead, but I'm not positive.
- 1:04:35SPEAKER_13: Um well there you go.
- 1:04:37SPEAKER_06: Yeah, see?
- 1:04:38SPEAKER_06: It was the Beatles song.
- 1:04:40SPEAKER_13: It was the Beatles song.
- 1:04:41SPEAKER_06: I forgot the bad finger was the Ivies, because when it said the Ivies, I was like, Yeah.
- 1:04:46SPEAKER_13: I did too, actually.
- 1:04:47SPEAKER_13: I forgot to change it until you said that.
- 1:04:49SPEAKER_03: Alright, I have an album.
- 1:04:50SPEAKER_03: Alright.
- 1:04:51SPEAKER_03: I don't need to guess, because you already know what it is.
- 1:04:54SPEAKER_06: I don't want you to guess.
- 1:04:54SPEAKER_06: I don't want to guess.
- 1:04:57SPEAKER_06: Whatever.
- 1:04:59SPEAKER_06: Nice angle.
- 1:05:04SPEAKER_13: You know that is gonna be the right one.
- 1:05:07SPEAKER_13: I'll I'll censor it.
- 1:06:44SPEAKER_13: Monday Wednesday Monday.
- 1:06:59SPEAKER_13: If we don't do it, Monday there's no podcast next week.
- 1:07:11SPEAKER_13: So yeah, it is Dev Labor before we know we've done Deflapper before.
- 1:07:21SPEAKER_13: This is the self-titled album.
- 1:07:23SPEAKER_13: Devil.
- 1:07:25SPEAKER_06: So in 2015 they finally put out the good for the CD.
- 1:07:34SPEAKER_13: Um they finally put out their self-titled album, which was the first album.
- 1:07:43SPEAKER_06: Um and this will this will be the fourth time we've done it.
- 1:07:50SPEAKER_13: Probably not I could be wrong.
- 1:07:52SPEAKER_06: Probably not.
- 1:07:53SPEAKER_13: There were there were some songs on this that I liked.
- 1:07:57SPEAKER_13: And a lot of them and I'm definitely fancy.
- 1:08:01SPEAKER_13: A lot of these songs that I really don't like.
- 1:08:04SPEAKER_13: Um because for many reasons.
- 1:08:08SPEAKER_13: But a lot of them were have you heard the song?
- 1:08:15SPEAKER_06: I've I've heard some of it.
- 1:08:17SPEAKER_06: Um like I said, I've I like I've said before, I I I do not have to realize.
- 1:08:24SPEAKER_13: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:08:24SPEAKER_13: So um I'll play you a couple of these tracks and just get your opinion before I before I say anything.
- 1:08:34SPEAKER_13: So I think the the this one was I we talked about this the other day.
- 1:08:41SPEAKER_13: This was a takeoff of Porsum Sugar on me, and I've already I've already uh played this one for you.
- 1:08:47SPEAKER_06: Oh yeah.
- 1:08:47SPEAKER_13: Right?
- 1:08:48SPEAKER_13: Let's it's called Let's Go.
- 1:08:49SPEAKER_13: It's a good song.
- 1:08:50SPEAKER_13: Um, and then you get these the second track, which is this one.
- 1:08:56SPEAKER_13: Very difficult.
- 1:08:57SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 1:08:59SPEAKER_13: I like this one.
- 1:09:22SPEAKER_13: You hear this?
- 1:09:23SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 1:09:26SPEAKER_13: It's super compressed to me.
- 1:09:29SPEAKER_13: The whole album.
- 1:09:31SPEAKER_09: I can tell you that.
- 1:09:40SPEAKER_13: I I I guess what I don't like about this entire album is the drum sound.
- 1:09:45SPEAKER_06: That's not a bad.
- 1:09:47SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 1:09:48SPEAKER_13: But well, you've only heard it.
- 1:09:50SPEAKER_13: I'll I'll show you.
- 1:09:53SPEAKER_13: But this one kind of buried though.
- 1:09:55SPEAKER_13: This one is called Dangerous, and it has that big deaf leopard chorus, you know, that you're expecting in.
- 1:10:02SPEAKER_09: And it's good.
- 1:10:35SPEAKER_13: Okay, so that sounds like Def Leopard.
- 1:10:36SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 1:10:37SPEAKER_13: Um I I do not like m and most of the album sounds compressed like that.
- 1:10:41SPEAKER_13: It's just very shh shh, very digital.
- 1:10:44SPEAKER_13: Uh, and I'm not a fan of the drum sound.
- 1:10:47SPEAKER_13: And so you know that um Def Leopard are big fans of Queen.
- 1:10:50SPEAKER_13: Right.
- 1:10:52SPEAKER_13: And this song, although I dig it in a certain way, never sat well with me.
- 1:10:57SPEAKER_13: This is called Man Enough.
- 1:11:21SPEAKER_09: I got your invitation, so show me what you got.
- 1:11:27SPEAKER_09: Are you mad in love?
- 1:11:35SPEAKER_09: You got me in a cold sweat with a lingering garage.
- 1:11:39SPEAKER_09: A bullet in your chamber with no written address.
- 1:11:44SPEAKER_09: You can keep a secret, then we can make a deal.
- 1:11:48SPEAKER_09: Put your finger on your trigger and show me how you feel.
- 1:11:52SPEAKER_09: When you move into the music, you got voodoo in your hips, and the devil would approve it.
- 1:11:59SPEAKER_09: So the question on my lips, are you mad enough?
- 1:12:06SPEAKER_09: Are you mad enough?
- 1:12:10SPEAKER_09: Are you mad enough?
- 1:12:15unknown: To be mad.
- 1:12:17SPEAKER_06: To be my be my girl.
- 1:12:20SPEAKER_13: Are you mad enough to be my girl?
- 1:12:22SPEAKER_06: Yeah, it's pretty dumb.
- 1:12:25SPEAKER_06: It's got a good groove to it though.
- 1:12:26SPEAKER_06: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:12:27SPEAKER_06: I mean it's very another bite to the thing.
- 1:12:28SPEAKER_13: Yeah, it is.
- 1:12:29SPEAKER_13: I do like this one because this one um has all of them singing.
- 1:12:36SPEAKER_13: Lead.
- 1:12:36SPEAKER_13: Okay.
- 1:12:37SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 1:12:37SPEAKER_13: It's called We Belong.
- 1:12:38SPEAKER_13: It's a ballad starts with Joe, obviously.
- 1:12:58SPEAKER_09: Sometimes I feel I don't belong here.
- 1:13:03SPEAKER_09: Sometimes I just don't feel I feel so unvided here.
- 1:13:11SPEAKER_13: That's Phil Collin.
- 1:13:12SPEAKER_09: A wound that never heals.
- 1:13:18SPEAKER_09: I need a little shelter.
- 1:13:20SPEAKER_13: Rick Savage.
- 1:13:22SPEAKER_09: Just for a little while.
- 1:13:27SPEAKER_09: Sometimes I had to settle.
- 1:13:29SPEAKER_12: Fifth Campbell.
- 1:13:31SPEAKER_09: Behind a print smile.
- 1:13:35SPEAKER_09: If you can see our biggest.
- 1:13:39SPEAKER_13: Where was Rick?
- 1:13:40SPEAKER_13: It's in the next verse.
- 1:14:05SPEAKER_13: Like you can't hear the drums right now.
- 1:14:21SPEAKER_04: Actually, the bubbles themselves are scalping.
- 1:14:25SPEAKER_04: Yeah, turn down.
- 1:14:26SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:14:28SPEAKER_04: They should be a lot of it.
- 1:14:35SPEAKER_01: Whatever happened to forgiveness.
- 1:14:38SPEAKER_13: That's for Calvin.
- 1:14:39SPEAKER_13: Alright.
- 1:14:45SPEAKER_01: What happened to the end?
- 1:14:47SPEAKER_13: He'll call it again.
- 1:14:48SPEAKER_13: Anyway, I like that tune.
- 1:14:49SPEAKER_13: It's a nice tune.
- 1:14:50SPEAKER_13: And the last one I like on the album.
- 1:14:53SPEAKER_13: Alright.
- 1:14:53SPEAKER_13: Is called Invincible.
- 1:14:55SPEAKER_13: And this is Oh, we we've heard this one.
- 1:14:57SPEAKER_13: Yeah, I think so.
- 1:14:58SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 1:14:59SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 1:15:02SPEAKER_13: And this is very new wave-ish.
- 1:15:04SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 1:15:07SPEAKER_13: Uh all right.
- 1:15:08SPEAKER_13: So we've heard that one, so I'm not gonna go.
- 1:15:10SPEAKER_13: So just before I play, well, I'm gonna play these uh next couple tunes, just a piece of them, and you give me your initial reaction.
- 1:15:18SPEAKER_13: Okay, so this is one called Sea of Love.
- 1:15:46SPEAKER_06: In the beginning, the vocals in the beginning.
- 1:16:31SPEAKER_13: I really think it's just a mix that I don't like.
- 1:16:34SPEAKER_06: I didn't like the vault.
- 1:16:35SPEAKER_06: The vault pools at the beginning were distracting.
- 1:16:37SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 1:16:41SPEAKER_13: Okay.
- 1:16:41SPEAKER_13: I'm not gonna spend too much more time on this.
- 1:16:43SPEAKER_13: I'm gonna play you my least favorite on this album.
- 1:16:45SPEAKER_13: Alright.
- 1:16:46SPEAKER_13: Uh and actually, mm.
- 1:16:50SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 1:16:50SPEAKER_13: I'm gonna play you my least favorite on this album.
- 1:16:53SPEAKER_13: Because I can live with the rest of it.
- 1:16:54SPEAKER_13: But this is I don't and I don't know what it is about this song.
- 1:16:57SPEAKER_13: I don't know if it's just the drums.
- 1:16:59SPEAKER_13: I don't know.
- 1:16:59SPEAKER_13: It just shouldn't have been put on this album.
- 1:17:02SPEAKER_04: Alright.
- 1:17:14SPEAKER_09: I'm with the king from coast to coast.
- 1:17:17SPEAKER_09: Shot out the gate first to the post.
- 1:17:23SPEAKER_09: Beat catalog means I'm alive.
- 1:17:26SPEAKER_09: Got to feed the need for speed.
- 1:17:29SPEAKER_09: Eat and sweet, I wanna bleed.
- 1:17:32SPEAKER_09: Greedy old philosophy.
- 1:17:34SPEAKER_09: It's what you feel, not what you see.
- 1:17:37SPEAKER_09: It's dangerous and it's shameless when I get to look at you.
- 1:17:42SPEAKER_09: I'm erratic.
- 1:17:43SPEAKER_09: When I'm static, I'm about to overload.
- 1:17:47SPEAKER_09: Don't feel it and just die.
- 1:18:13SPEAKER_06: Yeah, I get it.
- 1:18:14SPEAKER_13: I think it's the the the extra like electronic weird.
- 1:18:18SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 1:18:19SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 1:18:19SPEAKER_13: I will I will play a piece of one more.
- 1:18:21SPEAKER_13: This one's called Broken Broken Hearted, and I and I I don't know what I don't like about this one, but I don't.
- 1:18:44SPEAKER_09: Come on, but yeah, I'll ring your bit.
- 1:18:47SPEAKER_13: Yeah, that's it.
- 1:18:48SPEAKER_13: I don't like the lyrics.
- 1:18:49SPEAKER_06: Yeah, I don't say lyrics.
- 1:18:50SPEAKER_06: Well, let me the song's pretty good.
- 1:18:52SPEAKER_06: Yeah, let me well.
- 1:18:53SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 1:18:56SPEAKER_09: Come on, but yeah, I'll ring your bell.
- 1:19:30SPEAKER_09: Broken, broken heart.
- 1:19:35SPEAKER_13: You're right, his vocals are buried in there.
- 1:19:37SPEAKER_13: Yeah, they really are.
- 1:19:38SPEAKER_13: I can't even understand that.
- 1:19:39SPEAKER_13: It's like they just got a rhyming dictionary out.
- 1:19:41SPEAKER_13: What rhymes with clean?
- 1:19:42SPEAKER_13: Oh obscene.
- 1:19:44SPEAKER_13: Okay.
- 1:19:45SPEAKER_06: I guess.
- 1:19:45SPEAKER_06: I mean I mean his song's pretty good.
- 1:19:47SPEAKER_06: It's just the lyrics suck.
- 1:19:49SPEAKER_13: I don't even like the song.
- 1:19:50SPEAKER_13: I don't know.
- 1:19:50SPEAKER_13: It seemed like they were just like looking for filler.
