Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: I just might think it's August, sunshine today, high of
- 0:03Speaker 1: 84 today. Amazing. 106.7 Light FM, Cubby and Christine in
- 0:07Speaker 1: the morning. You know, it's always coffee weather, though, isn't it? Oh, yeah.
- 0:11Speaker 1: We love our coffee.
- 0:12Speaker 2: Yes. I like it hot, even in hot weather. I'll
- 0:14Speaker 2: still have hot coffee, but a lot of us prefer iced.
- 0:17Speaker 1: Yeah? Mm-hmm. And you brought up an article here that
- 0:20Speaker 1: you were reading. Some people are hiding their coffee order.
- 0:25Speaker 2: Yes.
- 0:25Speaker 1: But that's the headline.
- 0:26Speaker 2: They're going up to the barista like, I'll have a
- 0:28Speaker 2: double espresso. Can you make that a skinny? Yeah, because
- 0:33Speaker 2: I guess, according to this survey, one in three of
- 0:37Speaker 2: us judge people by their coffee order.
- 0:40Speaker 1: And those people know they might be judged.
- 0:42Speaker 2: You're like, don't look at me. Don't judge me. Yeah,
- 0:44Speaker 2: because they know they're going maybe a little high maintenance
- 0:47Speaker 2: with their coffee. Some people are getting maple syrup and peanuts.
- 0:51Speaker 2: Some are getting... Coffee with marshmallows and salt. I mean, like,
- 0:55Speaker 2: there's stuff going on. Espresso loaded with caramel, drizzle, cinnamon, butter,
- 1:00Speaker 2: whipped cream, you name it. It's like people are doing
- 1:03Speaker 2: all different things with their coffees.
- 1:05Speaker 1: But can't you kind of hide your order anyway if
- 1:07Speaker 1: you do it on the app?
- 1:08Speaker 2: Well, if you do it on the app, yeah, yes.
- 1:10Speaker 1: Then you just kind of pick it up.
- 1:12Speaker 2: Yes.
- 1:12Speaker 1: Look for your name and leave.
- 1:14Speaker 2: And like, don't look at me.
- 1:15Speaker 1: But if you're doing it the old school way where
- 1:17Speaker 1: you're going up to a barista.
- 1:18Speaker 2: Mm-hmm.
- 1:20Speaker 1: Some people are just kind of whispering it or they're
- 1:22Speaker 1: embarrassed by it.
- 1:23Speaker 2: They're a little embarrassed because they know it's a little extra.
- 1:25Speaker 2: Only 14% of people take their coffee black like you, Cubby.
- 1:29Speaker 1: I'm simple. I'm simple. Guys are simple. Ladies, you're a
- 1:32Speaker 1: little complicated.
- 1:34Speaker 2: Well, hang on.
- 1:36Speaker 1: No. I have a comedian to prove it. I've heard
- 1:39Speaker 1: many comedians do this, but this is one comedian.
- 1:41Speaker 2: Okay.
- 1:42Speaker 1: Check this out. Men are easy at Starbucks. You ever
- 1:44Speaker 1: go to the drive-thru, can I help you? Yeah, give
- 1:46Speaker 1: me a minty coffee, no cream. Honey, what do you want? Okay,
- 1:49Speaker 1: here's what I want. I want a tall, skinny, sugar-free,
- 1:52Speaker 1: decaf soy vanilla latte, extra hot whipped cream, double sleeve,
- 1:57Speaker 1: no cup. No cup. Okay. Complicated.
- 2:02Speaker 2: Maybe he's got a bit of a point. So it
- 2:05Speaker 2: says 33% of us, so 35% like coffee with a
- 2:09Speaker 2: little something extra like cream or sugar. And you know
- 2:12Speaker 2: how I am, Cubby. I like half and half. A
- 2:16Speaker 2: little extra half and half. Not a A ton of
- 2:19Speaker 2: extra half and half.
- 2:20Speaker 1: I will say, you're not that complicated.
- 2:21Speaker 2: But it's hard to get that just right.
- 2:24Speaker 1: Right.
- 2:24Speaker 2: You know what I mean? Like, if I'm not adding
- 2:26Speaker 2: it myself, and you tell the barista, just a little extra.
- 2:32Speaker 1: Okay, say I'm a coffee cart guy. Not your normal
- 2:34Speaker 1: coffee cart guy, because he knows your order. I've never
- 2:37Speaker 1: seen you before in my life. Yes. Hi there, young lady.
- 2:40Speaker 1: What would you like?
- 2:41Speaker 2: So a large coffee with a little extra half and half.
- 2:45Speaker 1: All right, so the problem with that order is... it's
- 2:48Speaker 1: subjective on what is a little bit.
- 2:50Speaker 2: Yes.
- 2:50Speaker 1: To them.
- 2:51Speaker 2: Yes.
- 2:51Speaker 1: In your head, you have a different little bit. Right.
- 2:54Speaker 2: And also they're busy and the pressure's on. And I
- 2:58Speaker 2: think they hear extra. I think they hear that more than,
- 3:02Speaker 2: and I'm like just a little, you know, and I'm
- 3:04Speaker 2: trying to like watch what they're doing, but it's happening
- 3:06Speaker 2: so fast. So sometimes I end up with like, Half
- 3:09Speaker 2: a cup of cream and the rest coffee. I'm like, no,
- 3:12Speaker 2: that's not going to cut it.
- 3:12Speaker 1: But you don't have to hide your coffee order. But
- 3:14Speaker 1: some people do whisper it because they're embarrassed by the
- 3:17Speaker 1: complexity of it.
- 3:18Speaker 2: Do you feel judged? Do you feel judged when you
- 3:21Speaker 2: order your coffee?
- 3:21Speaker 1: Can you text us on this matter?
- 3:25Speaker 2: 44363.
- 3:25Speaker 1: That's our text. Just type in the message and send
- 3:27Speaker 1: it to 44363. Really trying to, you know, spell it
- 3:31Speaker 1: out here.
- 3:31Speaker 2: We're here for you.
