Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Hey, guys, welcome to another episode of Eating While Broke.
- 0:03Speaker 1: I'm your host, Colleen Witt, and today we have a
- 0:06Speaker 1: very special TV host, entrepreneur podcaster that Beach exactly very
- 0:13Speaker 1: special guests I do. We just have to end up
- 0:16Speaker 1: bleeping them out for sol. Do you beleeve about your
- 0:18Speaker 1: social song?
- 0:19Speaker 2: No? Sorry, well I heard it.
- 0:20Speaker 1: It messes with the algorithms.
- 0:22Speaker 2: Oh that's probably true.
- 0:23Speaker 3: Maybe that's why we haven't.
- 0:49Speaker 1: Weezy is from Horrible Decisions. She also has a TV
- 0:53Speaker 1: show called Sex Cells, and she is an entrepreneur. She
- 0:57Speaker 1: owns podcast recording studios in New York. And am I
- 1:00Speaker 1: missing a market?
- 1:01Speaker 2: Not yet? If you recorded me in two months, you would.
- 1:04Speaker 1: Me okay hopefully Alana and I real know, okay, okay,
- 1:10Speaker 1: but I'm really excited to have Weezy. I met you
- 1:13Speaker 1: probably over a year ago, and literally like, I just
- 1:17Speaker 1: I love everything you're about and I plan to take notes.
- 1:20Speaker 1: Oh okay, but what do you have us eating as
- 1:23Speaker 1: your broke dish today?
- 1:25Speaker 2: Well, my broke dish today is gourmet maca cheese because
- 1:28Speaker 2: I feel like, well, gourmet meat and macajeese. I don't
- 1:32Speaker 2: like to say hot dogs. It sounds cheap. And the
- 1:34Speaker 2: meal is cheap. But like when broke, I was like,
- 1:37Speaker 2: I need to feel full fast, and I always thought
- 1:40Speaker 2: that was like a protein and carbs, and so hot
- 1:43Speaker 2: dogs and macaroni and cheese like the easiest thing, even
- 1:46Speaker 2: though by itself, I feel like it tastes like shit.
- 1:49Speaker 2: So I just tried to dress it up what I had.
- 1:51Speaker 1: Yeah, I saw that. I saw these extra ingredients, and
- 1:53Speaker 1: I didn't know which direction your meal was going. So
- 1:56Speaker 1: for our listeners, can you say what is in the
- 1:59Speaker 1: gourmet met cheese?
- 2:01Speaker 2: So I'm gonna be real with you. Allive oil is
- 2:03Speaker 2: very expensive when your road, like this is what eight
- 2:06Speaker 2: dollars for this? Maybe ten?
- 2:08Speaker 1: Probably?
- 2:09Speaker 2: Yeah, So I would use criscal but virgin olive oil.
- 2:13Speaker 2: Lorry I don't know how to say his name, but
- 2:16Speaker 2: Tony Shierrakus, I just call it Tony seasoning, Tony creole.
- 2:21Speaker 2: So we have the mixing bowls. I don't know why.
- 2:24Speaker 1: Oh I thought you were gonna drain the mac and
- 2:27Speaker 1: cheese water.
- 2:28Speaker 2: Oh yeah, I didn't even have a bad I didn't
- 2:30Speaker 2: have a what's it called. I would take the top,
- 2:34Speaker 2: pour it out.
- 2:35Speaker 1: Okay, we usually do that on the show. By the way,
- 2:37Speaker 1: this is just a fruit strainer. But go on, what's
- 2:39Speaker 1: the ingredients.
- 2:40Speaker 2: I like Nathan's. I'm not sure why. Hebrew National wasn't
- 2:44Speaker 2: my thing, but Nathan's was like the skinny ones. Like Nathan's,
- 2:47Speaker 2: We've got the cutting board and the knife so that
- 2:49Speaker 2: you can slice up the hot dogs, onions, butter and milk.
- 2:54Speaker 1: Awesome. Now it's funny because I've done mac and cheese before.
- 2:59Speaker 1: In my greatest accomplishment was adding tuna to the mac
- 3:03Speaker 1: and cheese. Okay, but I am excited.
- 3:07Speaker 2: Because there's so much don't go together. So I think
- 3:09Speaker 2: it's lostter mac and cheese and that's it.
- 3:12Speaker 1: Hey, I was broke. I didn't. I don't even know there,
- 3:15Speaker 1: you know. But but no, I'm excited because this is
- 3:20Speaker 1: my first time ever in the history of living on
- 3:22Speaker 1: this earth having gourmet mac and cheese. And it's really cool.
- 3:26Speaker 2: You know what I actually put in myra?
- 3:29Speaker 1: Look you getting all hyped into it? What what?
- 3:31Speaker 2: Okay? Now that I'm getting money when I make gromet
- 3:34Speaker 2: mac and cheese for overall, I put like five different
- 3:36Speaker 2: type of cheeses in it, and I put a little
- 3:38Speaker 2: bit of beer whenever I Yes, I can't remember where
- 3:42Speaker 2: I learned about the beer from but it's something about
- 3:44Speaker 2: the yeast and the beer. Oh my god, you can
- 3:46Speaker 2: taste it. It's so good. Beer costs extra money, so
- 3:49Speaker 2: I felt like I shouldn't added that.
- 3:50Speaker 1: No, no, but that's your But you now that you
- 3:54Speaker 1: make money, you actually do to still a twist the
- 4:00Speaker 1: gourmet maca cheer.
- 4:01Speaker 2: Oh yeah, you're hilarious. My mom hates it. She's like,
- 4:04Speaker 2: this is so ridiculous because every Thanksgiving we have hers,
- 4:07Speaker 2: which is classic bag mac burn at the top, and
- 4:09Speaker 2: then mine is the bougie back.
- 4:12Speaker 1: And you're mixed, right, So is your mom black?
- 4:14Speaker 2: My mom is black and my dad's is really okay,
- 4:16Speaker 2: maybe it should be Hebrew national.
- 4:19Speaker 1: You're hilarious. My dad is Jewish and my mom is Jamaican.
- 4:22Speaker 1: So I have the same black and white mix because
- 4:25Speaker 1: I never ever meet it where the mom is black
- 4:27Speaker 1: and the dad is white. Whenever I see someone like that,
- 4:31Speaker 1: I'm like, hey, that's crazy, all right.
- 4:33Speaker 2: You always see the other PEO was like, you're like
- 4:35Speaker 2: black and Jewish. You're like Drake.
- 4:39Speaker 1: Well, it used to be Lenny was the big thing
- 4:41Speaker 1: back in the day.
- 4:42Speaker 2: People don't know who nothing you not, these young kids.
- 4:45Speaker 1: But all right, weezy. So I am dying to try
- 4:48Speaker 1: this gourmet mac, so come away.
- 4:50Speaker 2: It's not gonna be good.
- 4:51Speaker 1: Why you say that, because think about.
- 4:54Speaker 2: The stuff we eat today. I mean, you eat shitty
- 4:57Speaker 2: meals all the time.
- 4:58Speaker 1: With Oh let me tell you. I'm getting to the
- 5:00Speaker 1: point where I'm gonna start rating it. And I've been
- 5:02Speaker 1: because I've been pretty nice. Someone made tuna castrole. It's
- 5:07Speaker 1: gonna get me caught up. But this it was literally
- 5:10Speaker 1: it's tuna castrole and the pickled egg is the worst
- 5:15Speaker 1: dish for me on the on the shelf. If people
- 5:18Speaker 1: said the worst pickled egg?
- 5:20Speaker 2: Have you had a pickled egg? I thought casseroles are
- 5:22Speaker 2: for Caucasians. And this is the Black Black Network. It was.
- 5:25Speaker 1: It was two black sisters that owned a all black
- 5:30Speaker 1: owned store that carries all black owned and they made
- 5:34Speaker 1: a tuna castrole and it was absolutely that's terrible.
- 5:38Speaker 2: Putting the olive oil in the pan for the onions
- 5:41Speaker 2: because I like it to caramelize, okay, okay, but also
- 5:46Speaker 2: I'm gonna boil the hot dogs, start boiling the macacheese.
- 5:49Speaker 2: And while that's boiling, that's where I'd just be trying
- 5:51Speaker 2: to get the flavor with the onions and Shita tastes
- 5:55Speaker 2: like extra. Yeah.
- 5:56Speaker 1: I just learned the other day that some people seasoned
- 5:59Speaker 1: the onions. Are you one of those people?
- 6:01Speaker 2: No? Am I Karen? Now it was?
- 6:06Speaker 1: It was a black girl.
- 6:08Speaker 2: Damn, I don't know. That's what I'm saying. I expect
- 6:11Speaker 2: her to be black.
- 6:12Speaker 1: You said you're a carot.
- 6:16Speaker 2: You want to know something that's just too black? My mom,
- 6:19Speaker 2: every time she watches my dog, won't feed the dog
- 6:22Speaker 2: dog food. It's only like chicken, right, And I was like, Mom,
- 6:25Speaker 2: why is that chicken color different? Oh well, it has
- 6:28Speaker 2: a little garlic powder and just a little season on it.
- 6:30Speaker 2: She seas in the dog's foods, there's too bland, no way,
- 6:35Speaker 2: And every time I got the dog be peen out
- 6:39Speaker 2: of its ask. Actually, there's a very special day and
- 6:42Speaker 2: week for me. By the way, my parents, I moved
- 6:45Speaker 2: them to LA, so they're flying to night.
- 6:47Speaker 1: You moved them.
- 6:49Speaker 2: They live in Orlando, so literally I'm New York Orlando, LA.
- 6:54Speaker 2: And I was like, I can't do this triangle. It's
- 6:56Speaker 2: got to be one back and forth, okay. So I
- 6:58Speaker 2: just wanted them closer to me, so that that, to
- 7:00Speaker 2: me was like a big life goal. That's summer Orlando.
- 7:03Speaker 1: First of all, that's a yeah, because it would have
- 7:06Speaker 1: been cheaper to move from LA to Orlando.
- 7:09Speaker 2: You moved them to a more expensive market. I want
- 7:12Speaker 2: them to be closer to me. This is where all
- 7:13Speaker 2: my work is happening. And like, yeah, I mean, Orlando's
- 7:16Speaker 2: where I'm from. So it was any day go on
- 7:21Speaker 2: my birthday this year, I went to suspend it with
- 7:23Speaker 2: my father. My dad, he's in a wheelchair, so it's
- 7:26Speaker 2: a lot more difficult for him to visit me like
- 7:28Speaker 2: my mom does. People probably see my mom all over
- 7:30Speaker 2: my content. But my dad was like, damn, I wish
- 7:32Speaker 2: I could watch TV with you all the time. I
- 7:34Speaker 2: wish we could have these moments together, Like I wish
- 7:37Speaker 2: I could be in LA with you and your mom.
- 7:39Speaker 2: And I was like, well, shit, you guys could be there,
- 7:42Speaker 2: And so yeah, I mean to me, it's crazy to
- 7:45Speaker 2: make this meal today. I actually walked by a T
- 7:47Speaker 2: Mobile store, which was my last job, to walk by
- 7:50Speaker 2: a T Mobile store making the meal. I made it
- 7:51Speaker 2: when I was broken. I'm literally able to afford to
- 7:53Speaker 2: move my parents here, but who knows, maybe they gonna
- 7:55Speaker 2: spend so much money I'm gonna have to eat this
- 7:57Speaker 2: shit again.
- 7:57Speaker 1: No, no, but you're making like really big moves. I was.
- 8:02Speaker 1: I'm so excited about having this conversation with you because
- 8:07Speaker 1: knowing that you came from Brokeness and seeing like you're
- 8:11Speaker 1: making like chess moves you like effortlessly. So when I
- 8:15Speaker 1: say like, I'm pulling out the pen, like, I've been
- 8:18Speaker 1: working for myself for a long time, but I definitely
- 8:20Speaker 1: don't make the type of money that I need to make.
- 8:24Speaker 1: I'm still in the Jamaican like two thousand here, five
- 8:27Speaker 1: thousand here, three thousand here equals twelve thousand. You know
- 8:31Speaker 1: what I'm saying. But I'm not at the point where
- 8:33Speaker 1: I'm playing chess. So I'm literally excited about this episode
- 8:38Speaker 1: because we're all about to get took to school, you,
- 8:41Speaker 1: I hope. So yeah, So I hope I do the
- 8:43Speaker 1: due deal with just tell us what was going on
- 8:45Speaker 1: when you were making Gourmet mac and Cheese, the original,
- 8:49Speaker 1: So I'll tell you this, coming from Brokeness was something
- 8:53Speaker 1: that I thought you were gonna put the Sorry. I
- 8:55Speaker 1: thought you were going to do the smaller pan for
- 8:57Speaker 1: the hot dogs, and I had your pan for.
- 8:58Speaker 2: That wild first. I don't know if you're gonna.
- 9:01Speaker 1: Boil him in the mac and cheese.
- 9:03Speaker 2: This is the mac and cheese potting.
- 9:05Speaker 1: No, it was the other because that pot small. I
- 9:08Speaker 1: love you. I'm making my own Okay, I'm staying out
- 9:12Speaker 1: of the kitchen.
- 9:12Speaker 2: Said you're gonna take.
- 9:14Speaker 1: Just so you know, every time I get involved in
- 9:17Speaker 1: the kitchen, I burned someone's dish. So I need to
- 9:20Speaker 1: stay in my life.
- 9:20Speaker 2: Okay, okay, made me feel better.
- 9:22Speaker 1: Yeah, because I've been burning stuff on people's own meals,
- 9:25Speaker 1: all right, So so tell me what was going on? Sorry.
- 9:29Speaker 2: So I actually grew up with money and there was
- 9:32Speaker 2: a stock market crash that happened that lost my parents
- 9:35Speaker 2: some money, and then my dad ended up having a
- 9:38Speaker 2: stroke that kept him out of work. And so after that,
- 9:43Speaker 2: I ended up dating a guy. It was just like
- 9:47Speaker 2: rich boyfriend that was paying for my school and then
- 9:51Speaker 2: he was very abusive. Broke up with him and then
- 9:53Speaker 2: that stopped. My parents couldn't really afford to college. I
- 9:56Speaker 2: had to help them out because my dad had the stroke.
- 9:59Speaker 2: So started work at the mall White House black market
- 10:02Speaker 2: clothing stores like a hand tailor.
- 10:04Speaker 1: Bike Yeah, yeah, a little bit high play, yeah, high class,
- 10:07Speaker 1: that's my first I did. Did you steal anything from them,
- 10:09Speaker 1: like a few things.
- 10:10Speaker 2: Ok. Good, good, But then I realized once I had
- 10:13Speaker 2: to stop, I wasn't like stealing for real, for real, Okay,
- 10:16Speaker 2: it was just a little shit. And then one day
- 10:18Speaker 2: I wore something to work and she was like, I
- 10:19Speaker 2: didn't know you got that dress. And I was like, ah.
- 10:22Speaker 2: The craziest thing was I went to jail. I ended
- 10:25Speaker 2: up having it was for my license. Everybody thinks it
- 10:27Speaker 2: was something worse. It was for my license, and I
- 10:30Speaker 2: had a GPS monitor on my foot, and so I
- 10:35Speaker 2: had to always wear Maxi dresses to work, or like
- 10:38Speaker 2: super big boots to go.
- 10:40Speaker 1: You got one of those ankle monitors?
- 10:42Speaker 2: Yes, no way, all working at my house like Marky.
- 10:44Speaker 2: It was terrible. So then I think I was helping
- 10:46Speaker 2: a woman that worked at a T mobile store and
- 10:48Speaker 2: I was selling her mad shit. She's like, you're really
- 10:50Speaker 2: good at sales. How much she's making here. I don't
- 10:53Speaker 2: remember what it was, fucking ten dollars an hour, but
- 10:55Speaker 2: my commission would be good, so it'd be up to
- 10:56Speaker 2: twenty or thirty. And she was like, I can make
- 10:58Speaker 2: you double a tea mobile with the way you sell. Oh.
- 11:00Speaker 2: Now I knew nothing about cel phone. She's like, you
- 11:03Speaker 2: don't have to just have to be cute. It's funny
- 11:05Speaker 2: because I went on a date the other day, this
- 11:07Speaker 2: nigga said, you look like a bitch. She used to
- 11:09Speaker 2: work its emobile. I used to tie my little shirt
- 11:11Speaker 2: up like this and be like, what kind of fun
- 11:13Speaker 2: y'all want? I was gonna sell it to all the
- 11:17Speaker 2: top niggas, the prepaid lines in the box, because you
- 11:21Speaker 2: weren't supposed to legally sell them a new number every month. Oh,
- 11:25Speaker 2: so niggas would come in. I just fucking keeps wiping
- 11:27Speaker 2: the shit whatever. So ended up being so good at
- 11:31Speaker 2: T mobile selling shit. I think my first year working there,
- 11:34Speaker 2: I was like twenty two twenty three. I made like
- 11:36Speaker 2: ninety thousand dollars. Get the heck out crazy. They don't
- 11:40Speaker 2: pay it over that way no more. Yeah, but like
- 11:41Speaker 2: I was selling selling something. The iPhone was hot back then,
- 11:44Speaker 2: and it just came out and literally was fucking flying
- 11:48Speaker 2: to Europe, just like experiencing life. Living life still had
- 11:51Speaker 2: a shitty car with windows, didn't go down, But I
- 11:53Speaker 2: just spent all my money and experiences, and what I
- 11:56Speaker 2: realized from those experiences, like, oh I got to get
- 11:58Speaker 2: more and more and more. Every time you taste a
- 12:00Speaker 2: little bit of luxury, now you need more and more
- 12:03Speaker 2: and more, you know. So from there, ended up training
- 12:06Speaker 2: T Mobile staff in Florida. Then I ended up managing
- 12:09Speaker 2: a store, and then they moved me to New York
- 12:11Speaker 2: to work in corporate. And now not saying I couldn't
- 12:15Speaker 2: have made it to New York alone, but I did
- 12:16Speaker 2: have a sugar daddy then, okay, And so he was.
- 12:19Speaker 1: Like a legit sugar daddy, like what you envisioned in
- 12:21Speaker 1: the movies, Like he wasn't that hot, and he had paper.
- 12:25Speaker 2: Oh he made paper. Oh yeah, like some bitches have
- 12:27Speaker 2: a sugar daddy. I he had a plane.
- 12:28Speaker 1: He had he had a plane. Yes, Oh he was
- 12:31Speaker 1: like legit.
- 12:32Speaker 2: Okay, Oh my god. He was so rich. And I
- 12:33Speaker 2: met him working in with the fucking T mobile. He
- 12:36Speaker 2: came in. He had like three hundred lines for his
- 12:38Speaker 2: company and he was like, I'm with Rise and Da
- 12:40Speaker 2: Da da, but his daughter wanted something that was only
- 12:42Speaker 2: a T mobile. I was like, why don't you move
- 12:43Speaker 2: your lines over? And he's like, honey, I don't do
- 12:46Speaker 2: T Mobile Like this is that's very So I think
- 12:48Speaker 2: I saved him, like twenty five grand a month, and
- 12:50Speaker 2: he said he was gonna give me a gift and
- 12:53Speaker 2: I told him. He's like, what are you doing this week?
- 12:55Speaker 2: I was like, I'm gonna go see Beyonce Miami. He
- 12:57Speaker 2: was the Formation tour.
- 12:58Speaker 1: Okay.
- 12:58Speaker 2: He's like, how are you gonna get there? I'm like
- 12:59Speaker 2: Gonadry with my friends. He's like, take my jet, and
- 13:03Speaker 2: I remember my friend's like, oh I got you gotta
- 13:04Speaker 2: suck that owd man. We got on that jet and
- 13:06Speaker 2: it was like, bitch, I'll suck a thick Joe. And
- 13:09Speaker 2: so that was like my first entry into whole ho
- 13:12Speaker 2: ho she okay, okay, got me this insane apartment in
- 13:15Speaker 2: New York. It was like, wait he was doing that too,
- 13:18Speaker 2: oh yeah, saying when he knew I was gonna leave Orlando,
- 13:20Speaker 2: He's like, sweetie, I can't have you leave me. I
- 13:23Speaker 2: was thinking about getting a place in New York. Anyway.
- 13:25Speaker 2: He's like, where were you gonna move? I was like Manhattan.
- 13:27Speaker 2: He goes that means Harlem, which was true. So I
- 13:31Speaker 2: was Midtown fifty fourth and eighth. And it's so funny
- 13:35Speaker 2: because my mom came to visit me and the address
- 13:37Speaker 2: was two sixty West fifty fourth or two sixty spy.
- 13:40Speaker 2: My mom got to my apartment, she goes, oh my god,
- 13:43Speaker 2: it's Tudio fifty four is right there. She's like, that's
- 13:46Speaker 2: where I was going. That's where I was meeting these
- 13:48Speaker 2: rich guys. You're turning into me. She was so proud
- 13:51Speaker 2: of me. And I think, what's funny is my mom
- 13:54Speaker 2: always wanted me to.
- 13:54Speaker 1: Be with such a good personality. Could don't wear your personality?
- 13:58Speaker 2: Okay, my mom always wanted me to be with a
- 14:00Speaker 2: rich guy. I always wanted me to be taken care of.
- 14:01Speaker 2: And like, it's so crazy because now I'm the rich guy. Yea,
- 14:05Speaker 2: you know. And I don't think she expected it, but
- 14:09Speaker 2: it's just amazing. Like I never thought i'd get here.
- 14:11Speaker 2: I always kind of thought and she would say to me,
- 14:13Speaker 2: you're gonna get married, You're gonna have a big house,
- 14:15Speaker 2: and you're gonna move me and your dad in the
- 14:18Speaker 2: guest house. It's gonna be so great. And like literally
- 14:20Speaker 2: I'm moving them into a place down the street from me.
- 14:22Speaker 1: Yeah, without an e. But how does it not that
- 14:25Speaker 1: I also say that now you're the rich guy, like
- 14:28Speaker 1: when you do you this obviously is in the first
- 14:30Speaker 1: time you said, it is it? When did you have
- 14:32Speaker 1: the epiphany that you were the rich guy? I damn,
- 14:36Speaker 1: that's a good feeling. I can't wait to have that feeling.
- 14:38Speaker 2: It was, It wasn't the first time I felt that was.
- 14:41Speaker 2: I was in Paris with my mom and I took
- 14:44Speaker 2: her for a birthday and I wanted to fly her
- 14:47Speaker 2: first class. But I use like an upgrade to be
- 14:49Speaker 2: getting points then, you know, because like first class time
- 14:51Speaker 2: me like ten fifteen thousand for them lay down. And
- 14:54Speaker 2: when we got there, we get to the hotel and
- 14:56Speaker 2: it was really nice and she's like, oh, what's our room? Like, oh,
- 15:00Speaker 2: her room? Like we have two separate rooms and every
- 15:02Speaker 2: little thing. My mom was starting to count in her head,
- 15:04Speaker 2: like how much was my daughter making?
- 15:05Speaker 1: Yeah, she said, we.
- 15:06Speaker 2: Got our own rooms. Okay. Then we go to the store.
- 15:09Speaker 2: I'm like, you want something, I'll just get a lipstick.
- 15:11Speaker 2: I'm like, no, Mom, you can get more. You can
- 15:12Speaker 2: get a bag o.
- 15:14Speaker 1: Your mom was like, what the break is happening?
- 15:16Speaker 2: She was bugging out. And then we walk outside of
- 15:18Speaker 2: the protest store and there's a hotel very famous called
- 15:21Speaker 2: the Plaza at My mom was telling me how princes
- 15:24Speaker 2: would take her to dinner there when she was young,
- 15:26Speaker 2: and she would meet all these guys when she was
- 15:28Speaker 2: traveling in Europe and this was like the place to go.
- 15:30Speaker 2: I was like, oh, do you want to have dinner there?
- 15:32Speaker 2: And that was when it hit my mom. She got
- 15:33Speaker 2: really emotional and she's like, I cannot fucking believe I'm
- 15:37Speaker 2: doing this with you. My mom is seventy seventieth birthday
- 15:39Speaker 2: at the time.
- 15:41Speaker 1: Oh, you said stay out the lane, so I'm staying.
- 15:43Speaker 1: I'm watching it.
- 15:46Speaker 2: I get cooked for her now. Yo.
- 15:50Speaker 1: You ain't been in the kitchen in a while.
- 15:52Speaker 2: I cooked this morning.
- 15:53Speaker 1: Yo, I'm sorry. You told me that. You told me
- 15:56Speaker 1: to stay out the kitchen, and we almost about to
- 15:58Speaker 1: burn down the whole. I don't even know if you
- 16:00Speaker 1: don't read on there to be on.
- 16:02Speaker 2: The wood part, No, I can't. I was looking for
- 16:04Speaker 2: another contract. Okay, I'll move it to this one. The
- 16:08Speaker 2: ale I tried to I love it, No, but it was.
- 16:12Speaker 2: It was beautiful because my mom really was just so
- 16:14Speaker 2: excited for me, so proud of me. I do remember,
- 16:18Speaker 2: you know, we still niggas at the end of the day,
- 16:20Speaker 2: Like we sitting here with these fucking Louis bags and
- 16:22Speaker 2: all these expensive shopping bags and literally my mom orders
- 16:25Speaker 2: a drink. She looks at the men. She said, oh shit,
- 16:27Speaker 2: that was forty three dollars. She was let me sip slow.
- 16:31Speaker 2: But it's really great because for me, like I don't
- 16:33Speaker 2: have kids yet, so like spoiling my parents just it's
- 16:37Speaker 2: like dream come true.
- 16:38Speaker 1: Shit for me, I can only imagine.
- 16:39Speaker 2: I really really have wanted this for myself my life,
- 16:42Speaker 2: and like I love doing it for my mom. My
- 16:45Speaker 2: mom thinks I'm Beyonce. Like if we walk into a
- 16:47Speaker 2: place and can't get in, like you don't know how
- 16:49Speaker 2: my daughter is called Charlemagne. It's just my mom is
- 16:54Speaker 2: like my daughter's on TV and they're like, really, what anfuse?
- 17:00Speaker 2: But yeah, I mean I feel really proud to do that.
- 17:03Speaker 1: Hell yeah, and they come tonight. This is a big
- 17:06Speaker 1: freaking deal.
- 17:07Speaker 2: She's gonna get her nerves well.
- 17:09Speaker 1: And luckily you moved it right down the street. I did.
- 17:12Speaker 2: So my mom wanted to get rid of her car.
- 17:13Speaker 2: She was like, I think I'm getting old. She had
- 17:16Speaker 2: a little moment. We were looking for her apartment and
- 17:19Speaker 2: she saw me parallel park. She started crying. I'm like,
- 17:21Speaker 2: what's wrong with you? She's like I'm older than I thought.
- 17:24Speaker 2: I don't know if I can do this shit. I
- 17:25Speaker 2: gotta get rid of my car, like I'm an old lady.
- 17:27Speaker 2: What if I hit somebody? Thought? And so we sold
- 17:30Speaker 2: her car. And I'm a little nervous because you know,
- 17:33Speaker 2: parents don't want to give up too much of their autonomy.
- 17:35Speaker 2: They need to be able to do shit for themselves.
- 17:37Speaker 2: So you know, I hope she can't moved her in
- 17:39Speaker 2: a walkable neighborhood. She'll figure it out.
- 17:41Speaker 1: Yeah, And then now are they still together? So he's
- 17:44Speaker 1: when does your dad come?
- 17:46Speaker 2: It is? So my dad comes in tonight. He's just
- 17:49Speaker 2: like as a hospital visit, and it's a little more
- 17:52Speaker 2: extensive when someone's like fully in a wheelchair. So I
- 17:56Speaker 2: wanted my mom to have a few days to herself.
- 17:57Speaker 2: I'll take care of my dad and then you know, okay,
- 18:00Speaker 2: in a lot of shit they've lived there forever. Okay, Okay,
- 18:02Speaker 2: so yeah, it's a big deal.
- 18:04Speaker 1: So let's talk about go back to your broke story, okay,
- 18:07Speaker 1: because I want to know how this elevation because it
- 18:09Speaker 1: seems like somewhere around your elevation that was like a
- 18:13Speaker 1: speed track.
- 18:14Speaker 2: So the broke missus The brokest I think I'd been
- 18:18Speaker 2: was when I left the abusive X. Right. He only
- 18:21Speaker 2: let me keep barely the clothes that I had that
- 18:25Speaker 2: I had when I like got with him.
- 18:27Speaker 1: Are we talking like emotional or physical abuse?
- 18:30Speaker 2: Physical and emotional? He was crazy. I mean, I don't
- 18:32Speaker 2: know how dark you can get on the show. But like,
- 18:35Speaker 2: I didn't even know it was bad because I just
- 18:38Speaker 2: kind of thought when a man is paying for things
- 18:41Speaker 2: for you, like you deal with a little bit of something, right, Yeah,
- 18:45Speaker 2: And so to me, if you never close your fist,
- 18:47Speaker 2: I thought that was fine. I never realized how the
- 18:51Speaker 2: steps of you know, physical violence can be.
- 18:54Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 18:55Speaker 2: So when I left him, he didn't give me anything.
- 18:57Speaker 2: It was really tough. I mean, mind you, I went
- 19:00Speaker 2: from when I was a kid having a driver drive
- 19:03Speaker 2: me to school that's how my parents were, to like
- 19:06Speaker 2: literally figuring out what I was gonna do with the
- 19:08Speaker 2: last bottles, right, So it was really tough. And I
- 19:12Speaker 2: couldn't ask my parents for anything, didn't want to tell
- 19:14Speaker 2: them how bad it was. Yeah, you know, so when
- 19:17Speaker 2: I moved, he.
- 19:17Speaker 1: Didn't want to tell them because they were already struggling.
- 19:19Speaker 2: Yeah. And then I can't imagine how my mom would feel.
- 19:22Speaker 2: She's like, oh my god, was like excited about you
- 19:24Speaker 2: having this rich boyfriend?
- 19:25Speaker 1: Yeah, oh yeah, you know.
- 19:27Speaker 2: So ended up finding a place, I think it was
- 19:29Speaker 2: seven hundred a month, split the rent with a homegirls,
- 19:31Speaker 2: a two bedroom in Orlando. He was right by Walmart,
- 19:34Speaker 2: thank god, because that's where I was buying all the
- 19:36Speaker 2: fucking hot dogs, the mac and cheese. Wrong, but my
- 19:39Speaker 2: number one broke thing I would do. So I used
- 19:41Speaker 2: to hang with all the trap news because hello, that
- 19:46Speaker 2: was my jam okay, and I'm from Florida, right, so
- 19:49Speaker 2: like southern culture, big car shows, HBC's like, it was
- 19:52Speaker 2: just fun and basically what I would do if they
- 19:55Speaker 2: were going to like buy a bottle or a table
- 19:57Speaker 2: in the club, I would see if I had like
- 19:59Speaker 2: maybe thirty dollars left on my account so that it
- 20:01Speaker 2: would overdraft, and have them give me the cash. And
- 20:03Speaker 2: that was like my payday loan to myself.
- 20:05Speaker 1: Oh wow, hold that You are like really in deep
- 20:10Speaker 1: when you think of that strategy.
- 20:12Speaker 2: Oh yeah, yeah yeah. My roommate and I at the time,
- 20:15Speaker 2: I remember we both got paid on different weeks. So
- 20:18Speaker 2: there was a Thursday and we both got paid that
- 20:20Speaker 2: or I got paid that Friday. I was like, damn,
- 20:22Speaker 2: we don't have detergent left, but we want to go
- 20:24Speaker 2: to the club. We had like twenty bucks. She was like, okay,
- 20:26Speaker 2: we get vodka or detergent. And we got vodka. Okay,
- 20:31Speaker 2: we you some body washing like clean shit. In the
- 20:33Speaker 2: same we were like, we got to go out and
- 20:34Speaker 2: meet niggas to make more money. And it's crazy that
- 20:36Speaker 2: like that was what I thought being able to have success.
- 20:39Speaker 2: Look like I got to meet a rich guy. I
- 20:41Speaker 2: got to be a basketball player or they or that guy. Yeah,
- 20:43Speaker 2: which a lot of women still think they need to
- 20:45Speaker 2: do today.
- 20:46Speaker 1: I want to subscribe. I'm gonna say it openly. I
- 20:51Speaker 1: want to subscribe to the rich nigga club because I
- 20:53Speaker 1: do the opposite. I'm like, are you broken, homeless? Let
- 20:56Speaker 1: me help you. I can graduate you to the next week.
- 21:01Speaker 1: Oh no, trust me. You don't want to get in
- 21:03Speaker 1: that game. You know what the problem is because they'll
- 21:04Speaker 1: turn around to look at you and be like, I
- 21:06Speaker 1: know I'm homeless, but uh oh no, my life, I
- 21:09Speaker 1: think I'm better than you.
- 21:10Speaker 2: The problem is, like I think now, a lot of
- 21:14Speaker 2: the dudes are in my industry right, so like the
- 21:16Speaker 2: people that I'm working amongst I can't be out here
- 21:19Speaker 2: like trying to fuck with these niggas for bread like
- 21:21Speaker 2: I used to. Don't get me wrong, I would still
- 21:23Speaker 2: want Toby, but like for real, like you know, it's
- 21:28Speaker 2: like they'll know me from somewhere. I've seen me on something,
- 21:30Speaker 2: so I don't want to be a bird then I
- 21:32Speaker 2: just end up, you know, a bird with these niggas.
- 21:36Speaker 1: But whatever, I'll tell you right now, I am learning
- 21:40Speaker 1: and I am done. So you know, if you ever
- 21:42Speaker 1: find a rich one, you can always slide on. Heyko,
- 21:46Speaker 1: I'm like, yeah, because I've actually I've never actually dated
- 21:49Speaker 1: a rich dude.
- 21:50Speaker 2: My damnsel in distress thing all the time was just
- 21:53Speaker 2: like I just really want to be able to like
- 21:55Speaker 2: ount my you know, parents, And it was true. I was.
- 22:00Speaker 2: So I'm just like working really hard and I can't't
- 22:01Speaker 2: work college. But just like, I'm really smart. I read
- 22:03Speaker 2: a lot. I was always like doing a fucking sob story,
- 22:07Speaker 2: which I'll tell you what, my sugar daddy. A lot
- 22:11Speaker 2: of the things that I think helped me now are
- 22:15Speaker 2: the stock tips and investment tips I got for my
- 22:16Speaker 2: sugar daddy.
- 22:18Speaker 1: But didn't didn't you say were your parents in stock
- 22:21Speaker 1: market too, though it crash okay, so you didn't want
- 22:24Speaker 1: to take tips from them, were you? Like No?
- 22:28Speaker 2: But you know, with him, particularly my sugar daddy, I
- 22:32Speaker 2: remember he would get up at four o'clock in the morning,
- 22:34Speaker 2: five o'clock in the morning and watch the market, to
- 22:35Speaker 2: watch the markets in China wherever, just international stocks four
- 22:40Speaker 2: x right, things like that, and it never made me
- 22:43Speaker 2: want his money. I always wanted to be him. I
- 22:45Speaker 2: always wanted to be that person that just had this, this, this,
- 22:48Speaker 2: this and that. To me that was so attractive about him.
- 22:51Speaker 2: People used to always ask me how I could fuck
- 22:53Speaker 2: him and shit like that, and I was like, Bro,
- 22:55Speaker 2: you don't know how rich the person is. You don't
- 22:57Speaker 2: know how how much that drives me. The ambitition and
- 23:00Speaker 2: that made him sexier and sexier. So one day I
- 23:02Speaker 2: eventually just asked him like, hey, I really want to
- 23:04Speaker 2: learn the stock market, but like, you know, what, can
- 23:06Speaker 2: I put like five hundred dollars in And he's like,
- 23:09Speaker 2: that's not a start. I'll give you ten thousand dollars
- 23:12Speaker 2: if you can make it grow. I forgot the time frame.
- 23:14Speaker 2: He said, I'll reward you with another ten and he did.
- 23:18Speaker 1: Wow.
- 23:18Speaker 2: And I kept growing it and growing it. I think
- 23:20Speaker 2: at the time I even put the money in T Mobile.
- 23:22Speaker 2: Think it opened became a publicly traded company when I
- 23:25Speaker 2: worked there, became publicly traded and then it was six
- 23:30Speaker 2: dollars and then they went up to like thirty, and
- 23:32Speaker 2: I thought, I get a lot of money.
- 23:45Speaker 1: So when you were doing the podcast, and this is before,
- 23:49Speaker 1: I want to say, before everybody was on podcasting correct,
- 23:52Speaker 1: seven years ago? Yeah, I mean it was like before
- 23:54Speaker 1: the new Waive or were you guys early in Like
- 23:57Speaker 1: we were.
- 23:58Speaker 2: Very early, and like people were verly really do video,
- 24:00Speaker 2: I think for popular podcasts, just for scale.
- 24:05Speaker 1: I don't understand how you're mixing water and oil and
- 24:08Speaker 1: you're not getting burns.
- 24:09Speaker 2: I'm standing away. I'm trying to like I didn't have
- 24:12Speaker 2: a grill, okay, but I'm trying to get that real plate.
- 24:15Speaker 1: Okay, Okay, you know what I mean. Okay, gourmet continue.
- 24:20Speaker 1: I don't want to detail you.
- 24:22Speaker 2: This is pucking me up. This is hard. I can't
- 24:25Speaker 2: even listen to music when I cook one.
- 24:27Speaker 1: You would be surprised how many people will at the
- 24:29Speaker 1: after each interview, They'll be like yo, cooking and talking
- 24:32Speaker 1: at the same time really really difficult because.
- 24:34Speaker 2: You're like knowing that you have to engage, like that's
- 24:37Speaker 2: what's making it.
- 24:38Speaker 1: And you have to like tell your story the entire time.
- 24:42Speaker 2: I don't know, I'm about to start telling you some lies.
- 24:44Speaker 1: No no, So so your sugar baby is sugar babe,
- 24:50Speaker 1: sugar daddy, so that would make you the sugar baby, right,
- 24:53Speaker 1: sugar baby. Okay, okay, I'm going to be a sugar baby.
- 24:55Speaker 1: I'm going to get a shirt Baisy Bros.
- 24:57Speaker 2: Every time I was out with I would take him
- 25:00Speaker 2: to like fucking any now. And this when I just
- 25:02Speaker 2: moved to New York. Catch just just came out at
- 25:04Speaker 2: the time, and SGK was super popular. I remember all
- 25:07Speaker 2: them niggas if you be looking at me with him,
- 25:08Speaker 2: and I'd be like, come on, babe. Also just turned
- 25:11Speaker 2: on knowing that he had to fuck me for money,
- 25:13Speaker 2: uh huh, which is terrible, but I was okay, it
- 25:16Speaker 2: was sexy to me, like especially when I remember he
- 25:19Speaker 2: would be like, you want to get some clothes and
- 25:20Speaker 2: I would always want to get a little Nike askic
- 25:22Speaker 2: to shit. You know many all the niggas of you
- 25:24Speaker 2: in yeah, he's my daddy. But so anyway, start horrible decisions.
- 25:30Speaker 1: But I like how you were actually inspired by his
- 25:35Speaker 1: moves versus well, I don't want to say I like,
- 25:38Speaker 1: but it's interesting that you were inspired by him being
- 25:42Speaker 1: successful to be even more successful, and you you took
- 25:45Speaker 1: the initiative to even say, hey, I want to learn
- 25:48Speaker 1: what you're doing and do it on my own, which was.
- 25:50Speaker 2: It's like I always wanted this sex in the city
- 25:53Speaker 2: life mm hmm, but I never felt like any of
- 25:56Speaker 2: them needed men to live that life. Yeah, and so
- 25:59Speaker 2: I wanted to have the girlfriends that I was wearing
- 26:01Speaker 2: an amazing designer with and fucking enjoying fashion show and
- 26:04Speaker 2: doing this shit. But I knew if I was tied
- 26:06Speaker 2: to a man, I wouldn't have that freedom. And I
- 26:08Speaker 2: had also experienced my first relationship a man with money
- 26:12Speaker 2: and abuse, so I was like, I have to have
- 26:14Speaker 2: it on my own. I can't be down again. And
- 26:16Speaker 2: you know, I hate to say it like this, but
- 26:19Speaker 2: my mom was a housewife her whole life. And what
- 26:21Speaker 2: happened to my parents with losing their I mean their
- 26:23Speaker 2: house got four clothes on right, the home that I
- 26:26Speaker 2: semi grew up in. It's like it was tough to
- 26:28Speaker 2: watch them go through that, and I think about two
- 26:30Speaker 2: incomes or just diversifying, shit, what that would have meant.
- 26:33Speaker 2: So that really fueled me a lot. And it's tough
- 26:36Speaker 2: for my mom to hear that.
- 26:38Speaker 1: Yeah, but why have you had those sidebar conversations?
- 26:41Speaker 2: Oh yeah, definitely, But it's not easy, like my mom.
- 26:45Speaker 2: My mom is so amazing, but there's moments where she's like,
- 26:47Speaker 2: oh my god, I never taught you to go out
- 26:49Speaker 2: there and do it alone. But look at you in
- 26:53Speaker 2: a way, you're you know, well I made money off
- 26:57Speaker 2: of personality.
- 26:59Speaker 1: Well you make money because you're a gangster entrepreneur. That's
- 27:03Speaker 1: really it. I mean the personality. I mean, in my opinion,
- 27:07Speaker 1: the personality is just like the cherry on the cake.
- 27:10Speaker 2: But you know what, I'm a feller at heart. And
- 27:13Speaker 2: my father that's what he did growing up. He owned
- 27:16Speaker 2: like camera stores and like you know the little row
- 27:19Speaker 2: like stores back in the day they'd have where they
- 27:21Speaker 2: were selling electronic these shops. That was my dad's like
- 27:25Speaker 2: line of work. Okay, And when I was growing up,
- 27:29Speaker 2: I mean this shit, that's what I started selling clothes,
- 27:31Speaker 2: t mobile, my blizni. Then then like literally everything about
- 27:38Speaker 2: it felt like selling to me. You know, like it's
- 27:41Speaker 2: interesting the way Mandy and I have kind of done
- 27:43Speaker 2: our business. I always felt like she has really helped
- 27:48Speaker 2: us so much when it comes in terms of our finances.
- 27:49Speaker 1: Right.
- 27:50Speaker 2: She had a financial background, and even though I came
- 27:52Speaker 2: from the tech world, was selling like I mean, I'm
- 27:54Speaker 2: the first person when we're on a call that's like
- 27:56Speaker 2: I want to do it for this much or we
- 27:57Speaker 2: need this or that, And like, I love that We've
- 28:00Speaker 2: been able to play up both of our corporate roles
- 28:02Speaker 2: in that. Yeah, and I've got a lot of seller
- 28:04Speaker 2: blood in me. My partner Alex now with WTF Media Studios,
- 28:08Speaker 2: anytime we have a big deal or he sees someone's budget,
- 28:11Speaker 2: he's like, oh, you have to sell them on the phone.
- 28:15Speaker 2: You have to tell them why. And I really enjoy
- 28:17Speaker 2: it. It makes me feel like I still got it a
- 28:19Speaker 2: little bit.
- 28:19Speaker 1: I always say this that I think I used to
- 28:23Speaker 1: always say. When I have a child, I want to
- 28:25Speaker 1: teach her how to read, I want to teach her
- 28:27Speaker 1: financial literacy, I want to teach her about God. But
- 28:29Speaker 1: the number one skill that she has to have before
- 28:32Speaker 1: she graduates high school is the ability to sell, because
- 28:36Speaker 1: I think it is the most underrated skill. And if
- 28:39Speaker 1: you're going to go work for yourself, the number one
- 28:42Speaker 1: thing you're gonna have to do is sell a product,
- 28:44Speaker 1: sell yourself. And so I don't buy anything, yep. And
- 28:47Speaker 1: I remember when I had my first company. I remember
- 28:50Speaker 1: going to a home deep or office depot and buying
- 28:53Speaker 1: those little sale books and you know, how will out
- 28:55Speaker 1: my hair pulled back and all this and whatever. But
- 28:59Speaker 1: I knew right away that sales is the one skill.
- 29:03Speaker 1: And I would listen to all these audio tapes too
- 29:05Speaker 1: about like how people you know you're almost nervous getting
- 29:08Speaker 1: into it.
- 29:08Speaker 2: Well, what's interesting about selling too? I know Mandy and
- 29:11Speaker 2: I had a conversation about this, Like so I never
- 29:13Speaker 2: finished college because I couldn't afford to finish it because
- 29:16Speaker 2: I got out of that relationship, right, m I don't
- 29:18Speaker 2: want it to splatter in all this equipment. I don't
- 29:20Speaker 2: know only do it like this. But Mandy at the
- 29:24Speaker 2: time coming off of two degrees working for this huge firm,
- 29:29Speaker 2: and she was working more hours and not making as
- 29:32Speaker 2: much as me in accounting at that time. I understand
- 29:35Speaker 2: it was junior Levelah, but I think about that a lot,
- 29:37Speaker 2: and I think about the money you can make from
- 29:39Speaker 2: selling all the time, and I think about that instance
- 29:42Speaker 2: of like, shit, maybe she's smarter than me, but why
- 29:46Speaker 2: isn't she making it up? And it's because that particular
- 29:50Speaker 2: skill really can't be taught, real can't.
- 29:53Speaker 1: Yeah, you gotta practice it and practice it and practice
- 29:56Speaker 1: it and practice it.
- 29:57Speaker 2: I mean, I believe Mandy is greater than was. I
- 30:00Speaker 2: gonna say, you know, the job that she had, and
- 30:03Speaker 2: that's why she's making way more and doing way more
- 30:05Speaker 2: things now. But yeah, I mean it's definitely a thing.
- 30:08Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 30:09Speaker 2: So yeah, with selling doing shit like that, had horrible
- 30:12Speaker 2: decisions on the side, and it was really difficult to
- 30:14Speaker 2: juggle both. And so about two years into doing horrible decisions,
- 30:18Speaker 2: I quit. But it was mainly because I was like,
- 30:20Speaker 2: you know what, if I ever wanted to come back
- 30:23Speaker 2: to this shit, I will, Like I've been making jokes recently,
- 30:26Speaker 2: I'm like, oh my god, me and fifteen years I'm
- 30:28Speaker 2: probably gonna be a real estate agent.
- 30:30Speaker 1: So why did you quit?
- 30:32Speaker 2: Two years in the trajectory of horrible was faster than
- 30:35Speaker 2: the trajectory of corporate America. For example, how long do
- 30:39Speaker 2: we work a corporate job? Right? So you want to
- 30:41Speaker 2: get promoted, I worked for Teambile six years. I got
- 30:46Speaker 2: to be a manager after year three and a half
- 30:48Speaker 2: four if there's a spot for you, so to me,
- 30:52Speaker 2: I kind of just felt like this is moving faster
- 30:56Speaker 2: than my rate in the corporate world.
- 30:58Speaker 1: Yeah, but you said you quit horror.
- 31:00Speaker 2: Oh sorry, quit my corporate Oh okay.
- 31:02Speaker 1: Okay, Oh, because you were like two years in I
- 31:04Speaker 1: quit horrible. So no, you quit your corporate okay, okay.
- 31:07Speaker 2: Got quit my corporate job after two years, and I
- 31:11Speaker 2: legitimately felt like it was not gonna make me.
- 31:16Speaker 1: But I have to ask before how much were you
- 31:19Speaker 1: making it horrible to say, okay, not as you make it. Oh,
- 31:23Speaker 1: you weren't making as much as T Mobile.
- 31:25Speaker 2: So here's the thing, because a lot of people ask
- 31:27Speaker 2: me when is the right time to quit a job,
- 31:29Speaker 2: and I can only explain it like this, starting Team Mobile,
- 31:32Speaker 2: I made ninety thousand, ending I was around one seventy five, okay, which.
- 31:35Speaker 1: Is damn T Mobile, Go ahead, go on.
- 31:38Speaker 2: It was like I was selling to companies that needed
- 31:41Speaker 2: like Ethernet, I graduate disaster recovery like I graduated from phones.
- 31:46Speaker 2: But basically this is what happens, so horrible decisions at
- 31:50Speaker 2: that time that I quit. May have been making me
- 31:52Speaker 2: one hundred thousand, maybe one twenty five from touring mainly,
- 31:57Speaker 2: not even Patreon add money.
- 31:59Speaker 1: And that's two years. Yeah, jeez, all right, go on,
- 32:03Speaker 1: And I.
- 32:03Speaker 2: Think the tour money because Mandy and I were buying
- 32:05Speaker 2: out theaters. We brought out carolines on Broadway.
- 32:08Speaker 1: And you guys were physically doing it yourself.
- 32:10Speaker 2: Splitting that money, paying ourselves back event bright type shit.
- 32:14Speaker 2: But what I realized was like, oh, took me six
- 32:19Speaker 2: years to make ninety to one to seventy. Yeah, took
- 32:21Speaker 2: me two years from zero to one hundred. So next
- 32:25Speaker 2: year I'm gonna make more. Yeah, let's just say I
- 32:27Speaker 2: make another fifty. It's worth it. Not to mention I
- 32:30Speaker 2: have more time on my hands. I could probably do
- 32:31Speaker 2: more appearances and more tour dates, so it's time to quit.
- 32:35Speaker 2: I also remember one moment it was brilliant idiots. If
- 32:40Speaker 2: anyone watches that episode, I was literally wearing a suit
- 32:42Speaker 2: like a blazer and a skirt, but Mandy and I
- 32:44Speaker 2: had to make an excuse to leave our jobs that
- 32:47Speaker 2: day to go shoot with Charlee Mane and Andrew. So
- 32:50Speaker 2: I think that it really will show you, like when
- 32:53Speaker 2: you have to start saying no to things. Oh oh yeah,
- 32:56Speaker 2: when you have to start saying no to things because
- 32:57Speaker 2: of your day job, Yes, that's when it's time, Like
- 33:01Speaker 2: when you're really getting booked like that, like TV appearances
- 33:04Speaker 2: even Like I remember we did Vice Live and I
- 33:07Speaker 2: couldn't be there early for the rehearsal because of my job,
- 33:10Speaker 2: and I was like, damn man, and anyone who's watching
- 33:13Speaker 2: this who might be semi getting entertainment, whether you've got
- 33:16Speaker 2: a TikTok or popular Instagram channel, you want to do
- 33:19Speaker 2: a Horrible Decisions podcast and maybe get or even eating
- 33:21Speaker 2: while robe. Who the fuck is gonna do this shit
- 33:24Speaker 2: at six thirty seven o'clock at night, right, who's gonna
- 33:27Speaker 2: do what? Like to have a guest? Yeah, entrepreneurs, Like
- 33:30Speaker 2: all this shit gets filmed during the day, so it's
- 33:33Speaker 2: really tough to have a nine to five and pursue
- 33:35Speaker 2: those entertainment dreams. And like that was why I was
- 33:39Speaker 2: like I got to figure the shit out. I think
- 33:42Speaker 2: my biggest success in this industry came during the pandemic
- 33:46Speaker 2: while Pivoting So made the TV show Sex Sells. It's
- 33:51Speaker 2: about the business of sex, having money, making money from
- 33:54Speaker 2: sex without having it, and I came up with that
- 33:58Speaker 2: because that's how I make money, right, Basically, talk about
- 34:01Speaker 2: sex covered all these adult industries and I'm not a
- 34:04Speaker 2: TV star, and it ended up popping on tuess and
- 34:06Speaker 2: that's why I'm on, how did you?
- 34:08Speaker 1: Did you package that yourself and then start selling it
- 34:11Speaker 1: or did you package it and then started calling Charlemagne
- 34:14Speaker 1: or different people you have relationship with, and like, so
- 34:16Speaker 1: I have something that I need.
- 34:18Speaker 2: That's what made me the most proud. I didn't need
- 34:20Speaker 2: a co sign for that. Okay, I believe horrible decisions
- 34:22Speaker 2: had the Charlemagne co sign, and that's what made a
- 34:26Speaker 2: lot of people watching in the beginning. I do believe
- 34:28Speaker 2: Charlemagne made our success faster. Don't believe we're successful because
- 34:31Speaker 2: it happened faster. But what happened with Sex Sells was
- 34:37Speaker 2: like I just had so much time during the pandemic
- 34:39Speaker 2: to think, and I knew my two loves were fucking
- 34:42Speaker 2: in money m hm, and so I was like, oh
- 34:44Speaker 2: my god, I should make the show. I want to
- 34:46Speaker 2: humanize sex workers, and literally people don't talk about their
- 34:48Speaker 2: sex lives on it, and a lot of people have said, like, oh,
- 34:51Speaker 2: it's like horrible decisions on TV.
- 34:53Speaker 1: But it's even it doesn't sound like it. It sounds
- 34:55Speaker 1: completely different because you're talking about this set workers right right.
- 34:58Speaker 2: I'm interview a lot of the guests we had so
- 35:01Speaker 2: that I can, you know, show them some love and
- 35:02Speaker 2: they've got real businesses promote them. But no, it's totally
- 35:05Speaker 2: different and I love doing it. It makes me. It
- 35:09Speaker 2: really brought me into the world of seeing how production works,
- 35:12Speaker 2: the larger skill budgets and money.
- 35:14Speaker 1: So, but you pitched it yourself, That's what I'm saying,
- 35:17Speaker 1: Like you went out there or did you have a
- 35:19Speaker 1: manager that helped you so.
- 35:21Speaker 2: It started slow. I didn't have a manager, never had
- 35:23Speaker 2: an agent ever.
- 35:27Speaker 1: Basically, oh still to this date.
- 35:29Speaker 2: No, not personally, Damn you're a gangster. I have a
- 35:32Speaker 2: person that gives I give them a cut of my
- 35:34Speaker 2: money if they do pr stuff for me, but if
- 35:37Speaker 2: they get me a deal. But yeah, So basically, there
- 35:41Speaker 2: was a guy that reached out to me months back
- 35:44Speaker 2: before the pandemic was like, oh, do you want to
- 35:45Speaker 2: do this type of show? I was like, no, pandemic
- 35:49Speaker 2: hits and I was like, you know what, I wonder
- 35:51Speaker 2: what the fuck he's doing. It's like he making TV
- 35:54Speaker 2: is TV being made, and we started talking about what
- 35:58Speaker 2: it would look like if we work together and came
- 36:00Speaker 2: up with sex cells together. He worked at FEWS at
- 36:02Speaker 2: the time. Help me package it, oh, help me make
- 36:05Speaker 2: a bible. And we did it that way. But what
- 36:08Speaker 2: I will tell anyone that has a good TV idea
- 36:11Speaker 2: is people that work in development needs shows all the time.
- 36:14Speaker 2: I currently run development for Kenya Barris at Audible. Right, okay,
- 36:18Speaker 2: don't send me shit right now, I'm done with that.
- 36:21Speaker 2: But like literally, I was wondering what shows we're gonna
- 36:25Speaker 2: make for him, Like developers want to fucking know, and
- 36:28Speaker 2: if you have good ideas, shooting pilots, making decks, having
- 36:33Speaker 2: a bible, having the demographics of why it would be good,
- 36:36Speaker 2: not just coming in their blank like hey, I'm not
- 36:38Speaker 2: doing anything like I've been doing XYZ. Like if you
- 36:40Speaker 2: hit up the Food Network, you'd have how much to
- 36:43Speaker 2: show them? For real? You know what I mean.
- 36:46Speaker 1: I'm gonna take notes. Remember how I said I'll take it.
- 36:48Speaker 2: Notes goge you did, But like here it is, here's
- 36:51Speaker 2: my spread, and this is what I do with this
- 36:53Speaker 2: type of budget. Imagine if you gave me fifty thousand
- 36:56Speaker 2: an episode, I could be doing it on location. I
- 36:58Speaker 2: could be coming to their homes. I could be XYZ. Like.
- 37:01Speaker 2: There's so many different ways for the things that we're
- 37:04Speaker 2: making right now to make them next level. Yeah, and
- 37:07Speaker 2: so I think that we just kind of have to
- 37:10Speaker 2: use our network. Like my biggest thing with playing chess
- 37:14Speaker 2: is making sure that I'm rubbing elbows with those that
- 37:16Speaker 2: can one day need to use me for something I
- 37:22Speaker 2: need to use you.
- 37:23Speaker 1: That's awesome, Yeah.
- 37:24Speaker 2: Because the thing is, I remember Charlotte, he said this
- 37:27Speaker 2: about someone. They were like, he was like, that person
- 37:30Speaker 2: is such an opportunist, And I was like, I wonder
- 37:33Speaker 2: if that's who I am. But really, I don't ask
- 37:37Speaker 2: I let every single person know what the fuck I do.
- 37:39Speaker 2: I just had a dinner where I sat down next
- 37:42Speaker 2: to one of the most famous comedians in the world.
- 37:43Speaker 2: I don't even know if this person can travel on
- 37:46Speaker 2: a commercial plane, that's how famous they are, right.
- 37:48Speaker 1: Wow.
- 37:49Speaker 2: When they asked me what I do, didn't even say
- 37:50Speaker 2: a podcasting. I was like, I own a production studio
- 37:53Speaker 2: in New York and Las Black owned. We shoot podcasts mainly,
- 37:56Speaker 2: but we also have a mobile team boom. Now it's
- 37:59Speaker 2: in your brain, now, you know what you can use
- 38:01Speaker 2: me for, Like, that's the job I felt like I
- 38:03Speaker 2: needed to sell to that person at the time. When
- 38:05Speaker 2: I talk to TV show, TV networks or people that
- 38:08Speaker 2: work in Netflix or different things like that I host,
- 38:09Speaker 2: I do this, I do that right, Like I want
- 38:11Speaker 2: to make sure that I'm useful to people that I've
- 38:14Speaker 2: rebbed elbows with.
- 38:15Speaker 1: Yeah, I think your sales skills like shines through. I
- 38:18Speaker 1: always say, like sales is more about paying attention to
- 38:21Speaker 1: what the customer wants, listening to them, and then catering
- 38:25Speaker 1: to their needs. That's just trying to sell someone something
- 38:28Speaker 1: that they don't want to buy. So even the way
- 38:30Speaker 1: you're talking is like your sales skills are just really amazing. Yeah,
- 38:34Speaker 1: because that's how it is. You're supposed to sell. You're
- 38:36Speaker 1: supposed to you know, if someone walks up to me
- 38:38Speaker 1: right now, I'm gonna think about, you know, what it
- 38:42Speaker 1: is they're gonna need or want from me.
- 38:43Speaker 2: Correct. You know, that's a really good point because I
- 38:45Speaker 2: didn't even think about me selling myself in that way,
- 38:48Speaker 2: but like, damn it is.
- 38:49Speaker 1: It is. But now opportunists is different because opportunists are
- 38:53Speaker 1: I always say, I want to be a business person
- 38:55Speaker 1: not a hustler, because I feel like a hustler is like,
- 38:58Speaker 1: I'm gonna take advantage, someone's gonna at the short end
- 39:00Speaker 1: of a stick. But a business person is like, we're
- 39:02Speaker 1: all gonna win. You're gonna walk away with your piece
- 39:04Speaker 1: of the pie. She's gonna walk away with her piece
- 39:07Speaker 1: of pie, and I'm gonna walk away with my piece,
- 39:08Speaker 1: and no one feels to agreed.
- 39:10Speaker 2: You can never make someone feel like they're doing you
- 39:12Speaker 2: a favor.
- 39:13Speaker 1: Yeah, like at all.
- 39:15Speaker 2: I mean, Charlotte Mane was lucky and lucky enough to
- 39:17Speaker 2: make horrible decisions with his rollout on Black Effect. I
- 39:21Speaker 2: know there's eighty five South all the smoke, and I
- 39:23Speaker 2: literally was thinking to myself the other day, Charla Mane
- 39:26Speaker 2: and is Charlotmane, But horrible decisions was still good enough to
- 39:29Speaker 2: where Black Effects was like, oh, we do need those numbers,
- 39:32Speaker 2: but we sell to add people like I don't want
- 39:34Speaker 2: to fucking suck anybody's dick to feel like and I'm
- 39:38Speaker 2: not talking about that instance, but just anyone like, thank
- 39:40Speaker 2: you so much for giving this to you. Yeah, yeah,
- 39:41Speaker 2: when you know your value, yeah yeah. We have to
- 39:43Speaker 2: make sure that we're definitely pouring into ourselves in that way.
- 39:46Speaker 2: But I mean, shit, you know I love fuse to death,
- 39:50Speaker 2: but I also know my show brings number then and
- 39:52Speaker 2: I know that's why they treat me well. They love
- 39:54Speaker 2: me too, like we're definitely doing what we need to
- 39:57Speaker 2: do for each other. Like I'm so happy to be
- 40:01Speaker 2: on a network that you know I can be their
- 40:03Speaker 2: most watch show. Like maybe if I was on an
- 40:05Speaker 2: HBO or some Netflix, maybe I would just kind of
- 40:08Speaker 2: go under the radar.
- 40:09Speaker 1: I don't think so. Maybe I honestly don't think so.
- 40:12Speaker 2: Thank you, I don't think so.
- 40:14Speaker 1: I'm not even trying to be well, what was your
- 40:28Speaker 1: hardest hurdle? I think it just to come to day
- 40:31Speaker 1: because I feel like you have a lot of great pivots.
- 40:33Speaker 1: But like, where was there a point where you were
- 40:35Speaker 1: like I don't know, hmm that you seriously like had
- 40:41Speaker 1: that conversation if I don't know, And it could have been.
- 40:43Speaker 2: A studio, Okay, my studio, which is the best thing
- 40:46Speaker 2: I've ever done. Actually, my studio gave me the seal
- 40:49Speaker 2: of approval to be bigger than just a podcaster. Like
- 40:54Speaker 2: that was really when I became a businesswoman. No matter
- 40:56Speaker 2: how hard, Mandy and I have worked. I never felt
- 40:59Speaker 2: like that, and it's no shade to her. I don't
- 41:01Speaker 2: know if it's because with women. I don't know if
- 41:02Speaker 2: it's because we talk about sex, but like I had
- 41:04Speaker 2: to do something else for myself to feel like I
- 41:08Speaker 2: could be respected. And it really shows something about brick
- 41:11Speaker 2: and mortar spaces to make people feel very like, oh,
- 41:14Speaker 2: they're really doing something, which is weird. But it's also
- 41:18Speaker 2: because I started getting other people money, Like.
- 41:21Speaker 1: What was the hesitancy, Like where was that hesitancy at?
- 41:24Speaker 2: Like where was that pain that investment? Right, my partner
- 41:26Speaker 2: Alex shout out to him, we spent an insane amount
- 41:30Speaker 2: of money on fucking equipment, which is why we have
- 41:33Speaker 2: one of the best studios right, Like literally, I was like,
- 41:36Speaker 2: how can we be charging people this little but like
- 41:39Speaker 2: our equipment is so fucking expensive, like it doesn't add
- 41:42Speaker 2: up or whatever. Yeah, and he was like, Yo, that's
- 41:45Speaker 2: why everybody's gonna come to us, to know that the
- 41:47Speaker 2: podcasters like us can be there and then the Charlotte
- 41:51Speaker 2: Maanees of the world or whoever they may be. David
- 41:52Speaker 2: Letterman wasn't.
- 41:53Speaker 1: Our shit, Oh shit, right, Okay.
- 41:55Speaker 2: He's like to know these people and Okay, you can
- 41:58Speaker 2: sit amongst them like we're gonna be for all of them.
- 42:01Speaker 2: And that's really been our brand. I believe that's why
- 42:03Speaker 2: we're growing. I mean, we get resumes like fucking crazy
- 42:06Speaker 2: every day.
- 42:07Speaker 1: So how long did it take when you so you
- 42:10Speaker 1: made that initial investment. The by the way, you're cooking
- 42:14Speaker 1: like we are in a rich restaurant.
- 42:16Speaker 2: At the point. Look at all the food she.
- 42:18Speaker 1: Made and it's like, I feel like I'm about to
- 42:21Speaker 1: eat an appetizer.
- 42:22Speaker 2: Go mate, you try to make it look clean and minimally.
- 42:26Speaker 1: When the cameras are off, I'm gonna just go in
- 42:29Speaker 1: with a fork and just eat everything direct.
- 42:31Speaker 2: I know it.
- 42:33Speaker 1: Yeah, because I'm starving and you gave me like an appetizer.
- 42:36Speaker 2: Well, it's fucking hot dogs, girl.
- 42:39Speaker 1: I want to see you sit down next to this
- 42:41Speaker 1: mic and spend quality time with me.
- 42:43Speaker 2: Okay, okay, let's try this. It looks good but.
- 42:51Speaker 1: Not bad.
- 42:52Speaker 2: You look is the onions.
- 42:55Speaker 1: I'm surprised you didn't mix these in together.
- 42:58Speaker 2: Funny enough, my COO talks about Haitian spaghetti and there's
- 43:02Speaker 2: hot dogs in it. I never mixed the hot dogs
- 43:05Speaker 2: a pasta, but this is kind of good.
- 43:08Speaker 1: This ship is amazing. Did you mix it all on
- 43:09Speaker 1: one fork?
- 43:10Speaker 2: I put it together on I don't want to touch
- 43:13Speaker 2: on the plate for.
- 43:14Speaker 1: A y'all, listeners. The hot dog and the onions smack.
- 43:17Speaker 1: I definitely will mess with Nathan's just because I feel
- 43:20Speaker 1: like maybe it tastes different or I just haven't had
- 43:22Speaker 1: a hot dog.
- 43:22Speaker 2: In a while.
- 43:24Speaker 1: But the freaking grilled onions in mac and cheese cheeses genius.
- 43:28Speaker 1: Bro I don't know why I've never thought of seasoning
- 43:32Speaker 1: up my mac and cheese, but the grilled onions, it's crunchy,
- 43:36Speaker 1: it's amazing.
- 43:37Speaker 2: I am so happy.
- 43:40Speaker 1: I am very impressible.
- 43:42Speaker 2: The only thing is.
- 43:44Speaker 1: I would maybe add and I don't even know, but
- 43:47Speaker 1: do you agree? Would you add more salt to the
- 43:50Speaker 1: mac and cheese?
- 43:51Speaker 2: Oh? I put salt on my stuff, but I don't
- 43:53Speaker 2: want to do that to people.
- 43:54Speaker 1: Oh okay, that's.
- 43:54Speaker 2: Why I left the lorries for you. You know, sodium
- 43:57Speaker 2: is a bitch nowadays. Plus there's a lot of salt
- 43:59Speaker 2: in Tony Sherari. What her fucking name is?
- 44:02Speaker 1: Okay, So for a girl that came from money, went broke,
- 44:08Speaker 1: had sugar daddies and it's self made to the point
- 44:11Speaker 1: of flying your family in from Orlando to LA still
- 44:18Speaker 1: in the early early I don't even want to say
- 44:20Speaker 1: how early thirty she is because all of us are listening.
- 44:25Speaker 1: Can you believe that much you've accomplished? It's amazing.
- 44:30Speaker 2: You know. Sometimes I get scared, like I'll lose it,
- 44:33Speaker 2: But then I realize the hunger that I have to
- 44:36Speaker 2: help everybody around me is too deep. It's too intense
- 44:40Speaker 2: that I don't think it could happen.
- 44:42Speaker 1: Now do you deal with well? You said you have
- 44:44Speaker 1: multiple companies. You're definitely spread. It sounds to me like
- 44:47Speaker 1: you're spread pretty thin. I'm so happy you shared that
- 44:50Speaker 1: because I always think that maybe I'm doing something wrong
- 44:52Speaker 1: if I have so many hustles going at the same time.
- 44:54Speaker 2: Fuck. No, you know there is something to be said
- 44:57Speaker 2: about a master of none. But I will say this
- 45:01Speaker 2: much what's worked for me. I don't steal anybody's idea.
- 45:06Speaker 2: I really ride my own wave. I made a studio
- 45:09Speaker 2: not because there's other podcast studios, because there were no
- 45:11Speaker 2: black owned ones that we're going to have podcasters run it.
- 45:15Speaker 2: I'd never been to a podcast studio run by a podcaster.
- 45:18Speaker 2: I made horrible decisions because I really wanted to do
- 45:21Speaker 2: a fun sex show with someone that I knew was authentic,
- 45:25Speaker 2: and there were no black shows about sex that were
- 45:28Speaker 2: hosted by normal girls. Yeah right, it was always like
- 45:30Speaker 2: porn stars or whatever. Everything that I've done so far
- 45:33Speaker 2: hadn't seen before except for stock, I would say. But like,
- 45:37Speaker 2: I've really rode my own wave, and that's why I
- 45:41Speaker 2: think it's worked. So when you do too many different
- 45:45Speaker 2: trades and you're taking an idea, like your concept is different.
- 45:49Speaker 2: We've all seen a cooking show which your concept different, right, Yeah, yeah,
- 45:52Speaker 2: so it's like you have to have something different added
- 45:55Speaker 2: to it, and I think that if you don't, you
- 45:57Speaker 2: then become a master of none because you're just trying
- 45:59Speaker 2: to do things that other people do.
- 46:00Speaker 1: Yeah, that's tough. I have a fear of I don't
- 46:06Speaker 1: even know where this fear came from, But when it
- 46:08Speaker 1: comes to partnering with other people, I feel like my
- 46:11Speaker 1: greatest asset is my relationships. And it's probably because I
- 46:14Speaker 1: have so much integrity. I'm like, dude, I won't hurt
- 46:16Speaker 1: a full I really won't even hurt a fly because
- 46:19Speaker 1: I want to treat people the way I would want
- 46:21Speaker 1: to be treated. So my loyalty is there. But when
- 46:24Speaker 1: I see like you and Mandy working together and you
- 46:26Speaker 1: and Alex working together, I'm like, either the integrity on
- 46:30Speaker 1: you has got to be super lit or how are
- 46:32Speaker 1: you managing that partnership? Because I always I always get nervous,
- 46:35Speaker 1: like what if the other partner doesn't hold up or
- 46:38Speaker 1: there's a disagreement? So how do you how do you
- 46:40Speaker 1: navigate that?
- 46:42Speaker 2: My first partnership I've ever had was with Mandy, right,
- 46:44Speaker 2: and Mandy and I had stopped we're friends, stopp being friends,
- 46:48Speaker 2: became friends again during the show, fell out of friendship again.
- 46:50Speaker 2: But I think we are so hungry to make money
- 46:56Speaker 2: that we look past that and we're able to think
- 46:58Speaker 2: of the greater purpose. If I had a co host
- 47:01Speaker 2: that wasn't about our fans, maybe I couldn't do the job,
- 47:05Speaker 2: you know what I'm saying. But Mandy's a self starter
- 47:07Speaker 2: like I am too, so it's not tough. Like Mandy
- 47:10Speaker 2: and I were on tour putting together the merch table
- 47:15Speaker 2: or doing something with the merchant of the VIP things.
- 47:17Speaker 2: And you know, if I see her doing something, I
- 47:19Speaker 2: don't want her to do it alone.
- 47:21Speaker 1: Like yeah, because oh nice, Okay.
- 47:23Speaker 2: You know, and I think she feels the same for me,
- 47:25Speaker 2: so we definitely try and trust me, I have a
- 47:27Speaker 2: time where I didn't even realize how much work she
- 47:29Speaker 2: was putting in with the finance stuff. She's making spreadsheets
- 47:32Speaker 2: and shit back then and doing stuff I didn't even
- 47:34Speaker 2: understand that works. I would try to do it on
- 47:37Speaker 2: the creative side. But like I think for me, with partnerships,
- 47:43Speaker 2: there's a skill set that someone has that I don't.
- 47:46Speaker 2: You know, wtf is so about the tech which is
- 47:49Speaker 2: all Alex and not me. But I do have to
- 47:52Speaker 2: give myself credit on how we were able to get
- 47:55Speaker 2: this shit going. I just don't know how much on
- 47:57Speaker 2: rent is or where the light people come from? What
- 48:00Speaker 2: fuck going on? Which is great, yeah, figure out the
- 48:02Speaker 2: other shit. Like I really learned how to use our
- 48:04Speaker 2: skills and work together in that way, and it's definitely
- 48:06Speaker 2: been touched. She's one of my tough he's one of
- 48:08Speaker 2: my best friends, and it's like damn, now, sometimes it's
- 48:10Speaker 2: all work. So we really have to feed that friendship.
- 48:13Speaker 2: You know, we have to have a night where we
- 48:14Speaker 2: get drunk together and have fun and not talk about work.
- 48:16Speaker 2: We have to really do that to enjoy each other
- 48:18Speaker 2: and separate it because it's tough.
- 48:20Speaker 1: Yeah, I know with Dolly. Dolly and I came from
- 48:24Speaker 1: the nick Cannon area. A lot of people don't know this.
- 48:26Speaker 2: So my whole hookup with Black Effects, the President of
- 48:29Speaker 2: the Black Man, yeah.
- 48:30Speaker 1: My stuff was an accident. It was legit. I was
- 48:33Speaker 1: telling Dolly I was literally like flying weed money during
- 48:37Speaker 1: the pandemic because I was I was hustling all different directions.
- 48:40Speaker 1: But anyways, I was trying to build this show and
- 48:43Speaker 1: I was like, Dolly, I think you should be a
- 48:45Speaker 1: part of it. But you know, she had this other
- 48:48Speaker 1: job offer and she's like, should I take him? Like,
- 48:51Speaker 1: as long as they don't tell you to go to work, girl,
- 48:53Speaker 1: I'm all about taking all checks. I didn't know it
- 48:55Speaker 1: was the President of the Black Effect or whatever. They
- 48:57Speaker 1: happened to need a cooking show, and she pitched Eating
- 49:01Speaker 1: While Broke and called me like, you're gonna kill me?
- 49:04Speaker 1: And I was like, why would I kill you? We're
- 49:06Speaker 1: actual friends, you know, I told you. She's like, I
- 49:09Speaker 1: told you know, iHeart and ICM and Charlemagne about Eating
- 49:13Speaker 1: while Broke and they loved it. And I was like, okay,
- 49:17Speaker 1: so where do I kill you? She's like, well, they
- 49:20Speaker 1: you know, we run a podcast network and your show
- 49:23Speaker 1: is you want to do a TV show. I'm like, Dolly,
- 49:26Speaker 1: the table was just built in my garage. My neighbors
- 49:29Speaker 1: are driving past it. I actually don't even know where
- 49:32Speaker 1: this table is gonna go, okay, And I think I
- 49:35Speaker 1: had just found out I was pregnant or I was
- 49:38Speaker 1: like borderline in that conversation, and I was like, shit,
- 49:42Speaker 1: you know I was doing illegal weed activity. I was
- 49:45Speaker 1: hustling in all these different plans, but I had this
- 49:47Speaker 1: idea that was literally sitting in my garage, Like they
- 49:50Speaker 1: just finished putting the forks on the table, and I'm like, Dolly,
- 49:53Speaker 1: I'm about to go broke. And I done pitched all
- 49:55Speaker 1: my celebrity friends. But I don't even know if we're
- 49:57Speaker 1: just taking this table to their house or how we're
- 49:59Speaker 1: even doing it. So why would I kill you? Like?
- 50:02Speaker 1: And she was like, yeah, well, they want to send
- 50:03Speaker 1: you an offer, like and I was like, She's like,
- 50:05Speaker 1: can you send me all your decks and stuff? And
- 50:07Speaker 1: I was like yeah, I had already had everything made.
- 50:09Speaker 1: But it was really no reason to kill her. But
- 50:11Speaker 1: even to this day, like sometimes as friends, I'll have
- 50:14Speaker 1: to get on the phone with her and she'll be like,
- 50:16Speaker 1: I don't want to talk business, or we could talk friends.
- 50:18Speaker 1: So that's how we managed the friendship. It'd be like,
- 50:20Speaker 1: Dolly ain't joyning to hear nothing about work.
- 50:23Speaker 2: That's tough. When someone's like cutting, that's tough.
- 50:25Speaker 1: Yeah, oh yeah.
- 50:26Speaker 2: I remember the first time I heard an attitude from
- 50:28Speaker 2: Dolly when I was asking for more money.
- 50:30Speaker 1: I was like, oh, oh yeah, Dolly will tell me
- 50:32Speaker 1: no so fast. I don't know, but you know, I separated.
- 50:35Speaker 2: It is a safe place. It's a safer place than not,
- 50:39Speaker 2: you know, in my heart is times with Mandy, I
- 50:42Speaker 2: remember being so angry at her. We've definitely thought like
- 50:46Speaker 2: I can't do this anymore. Literally, I was like, why
- 50:49Speaker 2: I go fucking Where am I gonna go? Like all
- 50:51Speaker 2: this goddamn money, where am I gonna Where? Am I
- 50:53Speaker 2: gonna go work for someone else? Some fucking white dude?
- 50:56Speaker 2: Like No, I'm gonna make this money with her and
- 50:58Speaker 2: figure it the fuck out. Actually, it's interesting with our partnership.
- 51:01Speaker 2: I recently was at dinner with someone who asked me
- 51:06Speaker 2: about books and money spending and things like that, and
- 51:09Speaker 2: I was like, when you talked about integrity. I just
- 51:11Speaker 2: thought about it, whether I'm angry with Randy or not.
- 51:15Speaker 2: I've never thought she would like take money from the
- 51:17Speaker 2: company or something. Right with Alex and I were bestie,
- 51:19Speaker 2: so we're not going to fuck each other over. And
- 51:22Speaker 2: they were telling me about how someone been sneaking money
- 51:24Speaker 2: out of their partnership. And I never thought of the
- 51:28Speaker 2: bad side of what could happen for partnerships, only the good.
- 51:32Speaker 2: But it's really because I do find strength in numbers,
- 51:35Speaker 2: and I think partnership just builds and builds and builds
- 51:38Speaker 2: your portfolio. I mean, I would rather have half of
- 51:41Speaker 2: ten things, you know what I mean, especially knowing that,
- 51:45Speaker 2: like there's so many times Alex has called me and
- 51:47Speaker 2: is like, Yo, Neil Brennan is coming in and David
- 51:50Speaker 2: Lehiman coming in our studios us right, or maybe I'll
- 51:53Speaker 2: hit him up and I'll be like we're locked down
- 51:54Speaker 2: for a week. We got a deal from Amazon. Like
- 51:56Speaker 2: it's always one or the other, and it really really
- 51:58Speaker 2: helps because when when you're trying to get all that
- 52:01Speaker 2: different money, yeah, you can't do all things. I don't
- 52:04Speaker 2: believe in people that are trying to have too much
- 52:06Speaker 2: control over everything, you know, that's that's when it gets
- 52:09Speaker 2: really tough. That's when you get burnt out. You've got
- 52:11Speaker 2: to be able to alleviate some of that. I'm real
- 52:13Speaker 2: cheap and I don't even be wanting to give money
- 52:15Speaker 2: up to an assistant, but I realize it helps make
- 52:17Speaker 2: your life easier.
- 52:17Speaker 1: Have you have you considered bringing one on yet I
- 52:19Speaker 1: have one, as it has been helpful.
- 52:22Speaker 2: Well, our studio is so busy. She's now just the
- 52:25Speaker 2: studio manager of the two New York locations. But oh,
- 52:28Speaker 2: she was amazing, Like she literally helped me with my
- 52:31Speaker 2: grandmother's funeral, you know, like when you've got a good one.
- 52:35Speaker 2: But my sister is like a real nigga, Like she's
- 52:37Speaker 2: not like she's not, Oh, she's so great. She'll call
- 52:42Speaker 2: me like these mother, Like she helped me with the
- 52:43Speaker 2: thing for the wheelchair for my dad today. Right, she
- 52:46Speaker 2: sent me a screenshot of an email she was like
- 52:47Speaker 2: these motherfucker's trying to play me bruh, And like it's
- 52:51Speaker 2: so funny because like you kind of do have to
- 52:53Speaker 2: work with someone that makes you feel comfortable. You know,
- 52:55Speaker 2: if she was too tidied up, I don't think I
- 52:57Speaker 2: can do it. Yeah, But like I love partnering and
- 53:00Speaker 2: working with people that make me feel like I'm at home. Yeah, yeah,
- 53:03Speaker 2: because when we face the world, there's a different person
- 53:06Speaker 2: across that, you know what I'm saying. So knowing that
- 53:08Speaker 2: we hire black and hire people that are a vibe
- 53:10Speaker 2: like yeah, it's just it's so great, yeah, I.
- 53:13Speaker 1: Think, but also finding someone that really is invested in
- 53:17Speaker 1: your vision and your long term goals. I know with
- 53:19Speaker 1: my crew, I love them like if I feel something's
- 53:23Speaker 1: de routing, I'm like, dinner, lunch, we're getting together, Let's
- 53:28Speaker 1: get to the table and find out what's going on.
- 53:29Speaker 1: But we I genuinely like love my crew, Like.
- 53:33Speaker 2: Everybody that works for me, I would want to have
- 53:34Speaker 2: a drink with them. Yeah. That to me, I don't
- 53:37Speaker 2: want to hire anybody that makes me feel like like
- 53:39Speaker 2: anyone nerves and they're weird or like, I want to
- 53:42Speaker 2: know they're cool, whether they be nerdy as fuck, and
- 53:44Speaker 2: maybe we don't share those hobbies, like there has to
- 53:46Speaker 2: be some connection there or I won't maybe care as much.
- 53:49Speaker 2: And I think my thing to being a good boss
- 53:51Speaker 2: is giving a fuck yeah, you know, writing down everyone's birthdays,
- 53:54Speaker 2: making sure I get them a gift, sending them text
- 53:57Speaker 2: telling them I appreciate them. I also don't say people
- 53:59Speaker 2: work for me. Like if I'm in front of someone,
- 54:03Speaker 2: I feel like that's.
- 54:04Speaker 1: Do you do? You call them like your team? How
- 54:06Speaker 1: do you reference them?
- 54:07Speaker 2: I'd be like, I say we work together. If someone
- 54:09Speaker 2: wants to know, oh, I like that. Even if they
- 54:11Speaker 2: walk in the studio and they know on the owner,
- 54:13Speaker 2: I'd be like, this is Danny, he works with us,
- 54:15Speaker 2: or like that just makes me more comfortable. Yeah, I
- 54:17Speaker 2: find a lot of condescendingness and when people kind of
- 54:21Speaker 2: just be like they work for me.
- 54:23Speaker 1: Yeah. I was at an event the other day and
- 54:25Speaker 1: someone said, just so you know, I'm her boss, and
- 54:27Speaker 1: I was like, yeah, I don't know if you had
- 54:30Speaker 1: to say that. I don't even know the point of
- 54:32Speaker 1: saying it. But I think mainly in corporate and maybe
- 54:35Speaker 1: not very small smaller well, I don't want to say
- 54:38Speaker 1: an entrepreneurs. I don't know, but I do see. I
- 54:41Speaker 1: guess if you're not at the higher level, you see
- 54:44Speaker 1: that more because I don't even think the executives be
- 54:46Speaker 1: like I'm the boss.
- 54:47Speaker 2: No, but like look at Connell from Our Heart, Yeah,
- 54:50Speaker 2: he was hugging everybody and chilling I'm like, what the
- 54:53Speaker 2: I don't know, Yeah, yeah, yeah, But you know that's
- 54:55Speaker 2: the thing too. I feel like there's this middle of
- 54:58Speaker 2: success when you try to prove yourself. I can only
- 55:00Speaker 2: related to this. When I was kind of getting some
- 55:02Speaker 2: decent money. I wanted to wear leubatons. I wanted to
- 55:05Speaker 2: wear my fucking one Louis buiton bag everywhere. I needed
- 55:08Speaker 2: to throw it in your face. Yeah. Now I'm kind
- 55:10Speaker 2: of like, you know what I mean, Like, I don't know.
- 55:12Speaker 1: Yeah, Well that's how I feel about Montessori School right now.
- 55:14Speaker 1: Every time I see someone, I'm like, I pay two
- 55:16Speaker 1: thousand dollars a month for my one year old to
- 55:18Speaker 1: go to school. I should just have it as a
- 55:22Speaker 1: billboard at this point. Oh bro, I feel like I'm
- 55:25Speaker 1: luxury and that's really probably a regular person thing. But
- 55:28Speaker 1: I'm like, now, that's.
- 55:31Speaker 2: That's better than they care, you know.
- 55:33Speaker 1: I literally, but I brag about it, like and I'm
- 55:36Speaker 1: pretty I saw some comedian talk about like how when
- 55:39Speaker 1: black people brag when they're rich, Asian people bragg when
- 55:42Speaker 1: they're rich, and how white people brag when they're rich,
- 55:44Speaker 1: and I was like, yeah, I'm definitely the black person
- 55:46Speaker 1: that was like, I pay two games.
- 55:48Speaker 2: I try to find ways in a point where I'm
- 55:51Speaker 2: feeling a little inferior. Yeah, sometimes people you never know
- 55:55Speaker 2: they're making my like it's I can't explain it. But
- 55:57Speaker 2: there's moments where people will make you feel like you
- 55:59Speaker 2: don't below in the room there. Yeah. Yeah, that's when
- 56:01Speaker 2: I might do a little bit of really. Oh yeah,
- 56:05Speaker 2: I'm trying to think the last time I haven't I
- 56:08Speaker 2: had this story. I told im horrible. It's on our
- 56:10Speaker 2: Patreon where I came back from Paris and I was
- 56:14Speaker 2: hanging in this Beyonce and jay Z party. It was
- 56:16Speaker 2: very small, like thirty people, and after that you couldn't
- 56:19Speaker 2: tell me shit. It was me and Alex. I was like,
- 56:20Speaker 2: fuck you bitch with like, you know, in the air together.
- 56:25Speaker 2: So I just kept finding ways to bring it up.
- 56:28Speaker 2: So we went to like some Spotify dinner that week
- 56:30Speaker 2: and everybody's just like, oh, horrible decisions. Never heard of it. Yes,
- 56:33Speaker 2: actually I've been to France. Not that you asked, was
- 56:36Speaker 2: there or whatever, but like, I'll be trying to figure
- 56:40Speaker 2: out a way, but I don't know. And I think
- 56:42Speaker 2: that's kind of when you do have and I know
- 56:45Speaker 2: that I came from something, so I just can't say
- 56:47Speaker 2: it came from nothing. But like when you had that struggle,
- 56:49Speaker 2: you want to know, you want people to know I
- 56:51Speaker 2: belong here too, Yeah, because I have a lot of
- 56:53Speaker 2: hell of privileged people that I know that don't really
- 56:56Speaker 2: have that that driver or the that that.
- 57:00Speaker 1: They're the backstory, they don't need to.
- 57:04Speaker 2: Like I hang with this really rich girl sometimes when
- 57:07Speaker 2: I'm in LA like grew up rich. I think her
- 57:10Speaker 2: family's got a fucking castle somewhere. And I never really
- 57:16Speaker 2: see her tell you anything about her life because she
- 57:18Speaker 2: realizes it's so it's not part of her story. Like
- 57:22Speaker 2: everything she's experienced isn't exciting. Like when I told her
- 57:25Speaker 2: about the Beyonce and jay Z thing, She's like, oh yeah.
- 57:29Speaker 2: I'm like, well you met them before. She's like, yeah,
- 57:31Speaker 2: well I used to hang with the Rnall's when I
- 57:32Speaker 2: was a kid who own LVMA.
- 57:34Speaker 1: That's hilarious.
- 57:35Speaker 2: And I'm like, okay if it's trying to know the bitch,
- 57:40Speaker 2: but like you know, so, I'm like, oh, I wonder
- 57:42Speaker 2: if it kind of shows that you don't really have much.
- 57:44Speaker 2: But what I appreciate is like people that can enjoy
- 57:47Speaker 2: with you, like The first person I called after the
- 57:49Speaker 2: Beyonce and jay Z night was Charlotta Magne over to
- 57:52Speaker 2: bed with his wife, who was eleven thirty at night.
- 57:53Speaker 2: Me and Alex are drunk in the street in parents.
- 57:55Speaker 2: I'm like, oh, I tell somebody, And he was so
- 57:58Speaker 2: excited and laughed and he's like now, I'm like, bruh.
- 58:01Speaker 2: The next time I see them one by name, but
- 58:04Speaker 2: they put it home the Bitch for Paris, and it's
- 58:06Speaker 2: just this cool, exciting milestone. But maybe I will get
- 58:09Speaker 2: to the place where it doesn't matter anymore. I don't know.
- 58:11Speaker 2: I hope not.
- 58:12Speaker 1: No, no, no no. So now that you've traveled the world,
- 58:18Speaker 1: you own companies, you're flying your family out, What advice
- 58:23Speaker 1: would you give to someone that would even just in
- 58:28Speaker 1: my shoes? You know? What advice would you give to
- 58:30Speaker 1: someone that's playing hasn't fully taken off the ground yet
- 58:34Speaker 1: and they've been hovering for a long time.
- 58:36Speaker 2: I would say, thinking bigger than the biggest thing you're
- 58:39Speaker 2: thinking of. I think that we sell ourselves short a lot.
- 58:44Speaker 2: Whether it be I don't know, this is just made
- 58:47Speaker 2: me thinking right. Eating While Broke is currently a podcast,
- 58:51Speaker 2: it seems like next up is TV show that seems
- 58:53Speaker 2: like what that is? Right?
- 58:55Speaker 1: But I also want to do touring, which eighty five
- 58:57Speaker 1: South has been like just do it, but he's like
- 59:00Speaker 1: hell no, And eighty five for South is like do
- 59:03Speaker 1: that shit?
- 59:04Speaker 2: Why does Allie say now.
- 59:07Speaker 1: She thinks I need to spend more time growing my
- 59:09Speaker 1: audience like baby steps and then but I low key
- 59:14Speaker 1: secretly want to do ice cube in LA, I would.
- 59:17Speaker 2: Tell you for this piece of advice, then I would say,
- 59:21Speaker 2: you do it in the middle. You do one show.
- 59:24Speaker 2: You do one show in your hometown or where your
- 59:26Speaker 2: largest base of audience is, and that's LA, right assuming Yeah,
- 59:28Speaker 2: so it's like you do your LA show, you don't tour,
- 59:31Speaker 2: You do your LA show. You practice, you get your
- 59:33Speaker 2: biggest fan based there, you already have all your friends come.
- 59:35Speaker 2: It's probably where all the talent you know is. So
- 59:38Speaker 2: you do it right there in LA. After you do that,
- 59:41Speaker 2: then you kind of get your feet wet or this
- 59:44Speaker 2: space is semi big. Make a Patreon or invite your
- 59:49Speaker 2: top fans. Write fifteen fans, really and write fifteen fans,
- 59:54Speaker 2: have them sit and watch, laugh with you. Maybe put
- 59:57Speaker 2: the ingredients out there and be like this that's what
- 1:00:00Speaker 2: I got y'all gonna help me make this meal. Maybe
- 1:00:02Speaker 2: they just shout at you and they share stories with you.
- 1:00:05Speaker 1: When you, guys did your Patreon, what were you what
- 1:00:08Speaker 1: was your first Like, did you even think you would
- 1:00:10Speaker 1: make money when you first did the patreon?
- 1:00:12Speaker 2: No, we make way too much on Patreon now. I
- 1:00:15Speaker 2: mean I'm sure like there you know, there's patreons bigger
- 1:00:19Speaker 2: than me. But like we did it before. I think
- 1:00:20Speaker 2: we were one of the first black popular podcasts that
- 1:00:22Speaker 2: we know on there, Like we had our first year
- 1:00:25Speaker 2: of year seven, I mean the first year of year seven,
- 1:00:28Speaker 2: and we only did it to make more money for
- 1:00:30Speaker 2: the studio. Mandy and I were like, this shit costing
- 1:00:32Speaker 2: too much. We ain't making no money. A friend of
- 1:00:34Speaker 2: mine was like, have you heard of l Chapo trap
- 1:00:36Speaker 2: House something like that, It's like a white podcast. I
- 1:00:39Speaker 2: was like no, He's like, they make like ninety ground Patreon.
- 1:00:41Speaker 2: You should.
- 1:00:42Speaker 1: You guys were like, dude, du what's that right?
- 1:00:45Speaker 2: I mean, shit, we don't make ninety, but we do
- 1:00:46Speaker 2: make twenty.
- 1:00:47Speaker 1: Get the hang out on Patreon mm hm, get the.
- 1:00:50Speaker 2: But to be honest, though, our Patreon, like we started
- 1:00:54Speaker 2: a high very early of people that really resonated with
- 1:00:57Speaker 2: Mandy and I because we were corporate girls talking about
- 1:01:00Speaker 2: and it was kind of the life that if you
- 1:01:01Speaker 2: didn't live it, you'd want to live it, or you
- 1:01:03Speaker 2: could see yourself living it like host stories while like
- 1:01:06Speaker 2: being overdraft and are you know, being at your desk whatever.
- 1:01:09Speaker 2: So we made Patreon. It was to get extra money
- 1:01:11Speaker 2: for filming. I remember a thousand dollars a month feeling perfect.
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: Hell, yeah that's not I know that sounds small.
- 1:01:20Speaker 2: So when it got higher, Mandy and I just started
- 1:01:24Speaker 2: spelling more of our personal lives on Patreon, and it
- 1:01:27Speaker 2: became like we were just talking to fans instead of
- 1:01:29Speaker 2: like doing a show. You know, like we have so
- 1:01:33Speaker 2: so many guests now that people that really fucked with
- 1:01:35Speaker 2: Mandy and Wheezy they want Patreon. Like a lot of
- 1:01:39Speaker 2: people enjoy those episodes more. I I love like a
- 1:01:42Speaker 2: better looking set, but I get it, Mandy and I'd
- 1:01:45Speaker 2: be on zoom, I'd be hungover shit. I think I
- 1:01:47Speaker 2: was still mollied out on one episode. I was like,
- 1:01:49Speaker 2: oh my god, you guys didn't sleep anyway, Like people
- 1:01:53Speaker 2: like that shit when you're very raw, and so we
- 1:01:55Speaker 2: offer that. So it's something different. But yeah, I wouldn't
- 1:01:58Speaker 2: write your closest fans if it's not Patreon right now,
- 1:02:02Speaker 2: figure out where you talk to them the most, have
- 1:02:04Speaker 2: them come and watch well.
- 1:02:05Speaker 1: I think this season is the most I've seen fans
- 1:02:08Speaker 1: reach out, which, by the way, I'm absolutely shocked. I'll
- 1:02:10Speaker 1: get a DM like please don't stop, please don't quit.
- 1:02:14Speaker 1: We love this s yeah, or like I promise you're
- 1:02:17Speaker 1: asking the questions that we want you and I'll be like,
- 1:02:20Speaker 1: thank you, because I for sure had a shitty day
- 1:02:23Speaker 1: today and I really want to jump off a bridge,
- 1:02:25Speaker 1: but that message just like literally, I know it's random,
- 1:02:29Speaker 1: but help them. Yeah, I'm like, you taketed the right time,
- 1:02:34Speaker 1: and I will respond that like, yo, the time. It
- 1:02:36Speaker 1: couldn't have been better, thank you for saving my life.
- 1:02:40Speaker 2: With fans too, Like we look at other people's numbers
- 1:02:45Speaker 2: and comparison is a thief and joy.
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: Oh, I definitely do. I'll be like, look at them,
- 1:02:51Speaker 1: but you know now I look at y'all, and I'll
- 1:02:53Speaker 1: be like, take notes. People's changed.
- 1:02:58Speaker 2: When we're in line to them, right, Like I remember
- 1:03:01Speaker 2: when car her daddy made the sixty thousand dollars or
- 1:03:03Speaker 2: sixty million, right, and I was like oh my god,
- 1:03:08Speaker 2: I'll never get me. I was saying shit like that.
- 1:03:10Speaker 2: I don't have that. I'm like this podcast makes how much?
- 1:03:13Speaker 2: Like why am I talking like this? You know? And
- 1:03:16Speaker 2: we really have to pour into ourselves better because we
- 1:03:19Speaker 2: always are looking at something else. I do it with
- 1:03:21Speaker 2: my body doing my hair shit, I was almost like,
- 1:03:25Speaker 2: oh my god, my hair is not rain different. The
- 1:03:27Speaker 2: got my hair, like thinking about all this little shit
- 1:03:29Speaker 2: that doesn't fucking matter, and it's like we need to
- 1:03:33Speaker 2: really learn how to be happy with ourselves because like,
- 1:03:36Speaker 2: I think social media has fucked me up. I'm getting
- 1:03:49Speaker 2: way better at it, but like body, hair, clothes and
- 1:03:54Speaker 2: success are all the things I see on Instagram and
- 1:03:57Speaker 2: think I'm not doing well enough with and this is
- 1:04:00Speaker 2: fucked up, but it did happen to me. I went
- 1:04:02Speaker 2: to solid Core, which is this like plate's ish cool
- 1:04:06Speaker 2: thing to do. It's in La Chicago, New York, Big Cities, Atlanta,
- 1:04:10Speaker 2: and there's a girl on Instagram I follow that. I
- 1:04:12Speaker 2: always thought she was like so fucking insanely hot. When
- 1:04:15Speaker 2: I was in the workout, she was right next to
- 1:04:17Speaker 2: me and I recognized her halfway through. She was really struggling.
- 1:04:21Speaker 2: And it's not like it's something to make fun of.
- 1:04:23Speaker 2: You're already working out. But I got in the car
- 1:04:25Speaker 2: and I thought, oh my god, I have I'm stronger
- 1:04:27Speaker 2: than I thought. I was right. I'm looking at this
- 1:04:29Speaker 2: girl all the time on my timeline, thinking she's the
- 1:04:31Speaker 2: baddest bitch in the world. And I had something like
- 1:04:34Speaker 2: she even said to me. I was like, damn bitch,
- 1:04:35Speaker 2: she was getting it right. We don't know each other,
- 1:04:37Speaker 2: and I was like, wow, there's something we all have
- 1:04:39Speaker 2: that someone else doesn't. So when you're looking and you're
- 1:04:42Speaker 2: thinking that, it's not shit me. I want kids so bad. Really, yes,
- 1:04:48Speaker 2: I would love to have kids like I would love
- 1:04:50Speaker 2: to have in mind over to you for a weekend.
- 1:04:52Speaker 2: Oh my mom would love to watch over. My mom
- 1:04:54Speaker 2: love taking somebody baby.
- 1:04:55Speaker 1: Oh really, Oh she's in LA. That's perfect because I
- 1:04:58Speaker 1: ain't got no family in I pay minute away.
- 1:05:00Speaker 2: Well, my mom will act like it's an inconvenience, but
- 1:05:02Speaker 2: she can't wait to do it. Let me watch your baby,
- 1:05:05Speaker 2: Colleen called me, and now I've got to watch this
- 1:05:07Speaker 2: damn baby. Now'll get in the house, baby prude. Anyway,
- 1:05:08Speaker 2: I'll talk to you later. Like she loves taking somebody's
- 1:05:13Speaker 2: problems on her kids or anything, and like, yeah, but
- 1:05:15Speaker 2: I think about that. I think. Uh. I was at
- 1:05:17Speaker 2: a friend's kids graduation, her daughter graduately needs her, and
- 1:05:22Speaker 2: I was like, like three people had asked me for
- 1:05:24Speaker 2: a picture when I was in an auditorium, and I
- 1:05:27Speaker 2: remember thinking like, I wonder if they think I'm like
- 1:05:30Speaker 2: living this cool ass like but somebody was like, damn,
- 1:05:32Speaker 2: you came from LA to be here. Someone said that
- 1:05:34Speaker 2: to me, and I was like, when I could like
- 1:05:36Speaker 2: die to be one of the parents in the front.
- 1:05:38Speaker 2: Oh wow, But you never know, right, like you there's
- 1:05:41Speaker 2: always something we all want. Yeah, I think we all
- 1:05:43Speaker 2: need that little drama in our lives to keep going.
- 1:05:46Speaker 1: You think so oh like the when you say drama,
- 1:05:48Speaker 1: like the need to want something more?
- 1:05:50Speaker 2: Yeah, how are we going to be on an autopilot
- 1:05:53Speaker 2: if we have all we want? Like what do you want?
- 1:05:55Speaker 1: I want this guy's limit. It's funny though, because I
- 1:05:57Speaker 1: used to always want like the marriage and the baby
- 1:05:59Speaker 1: because I felt like I was good at business and
- 1:06:02Speaker 1: then I just sucked at personal. But now that I
- 1:06:04Speaker 1: experienced marriage and the baby, I'm like, I think I'm
- 1:06:08Speaker 1: gonna stay in my business life because I suck at it.
- 1:06:10Speaker 1: It's just like, yo, you know what, I have to
- 1:06:12Speaker 1: chop it up to Like, it's just not my forte.
- 1:06:14Speaker 1: I don't know why I can't master my personal but
- 1:06:17Speaker 1: I could.
- 1:06:18Speaker 2: It's tough. We all can't because it's not something you
- 1:06:20Speaker 2: can control.
- 1:06:21Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, maybe that's it. Because I feel like in business,
- 1:06:24Speaker 1: like I will pivot the fuck if it's not working,
- 1:06:27Speaker 1: pivot again, pivot again. But then in my personal I'd
- 1:06:31Speaker 1: be like, oh, you went left. I don't even know what.
- 1:06:34Speaker 2: To Say's tough. Money we can control, Like I feel
- 1:06:38Speaker 2: like I can make a million dollars easier than I
- 1:06:39Speaker 2: can find a good person to date. I mean, it's
- 1:06:41Speaker 2: fucked up to say that, but I really do believe that.
- 1:06:44Speaker 2: I feel like when it's things you can control, like
- 1:06:47Speaker 2: you can't control money. Let's say, like right, like there's
- 1:06:50Speaker 2: people out there that are working hard at fucking are
- 1:06:52Speaker 2: not getting there, but like you could possibly take up
- 1:06:55Speaker 2: another hustle to buy somewhere money.
- 1:06:57Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:06:57Speaker 2: For all was taking pictures out of Oho Pizzeria on
- 1:07:00Speaker 2: the side because they would give me one hundred dollars
- 1:07:02Speaker 2: a night, okay for five hours, and I would just
- 1:07:04Speaker 2: take pictures, pictures, and I would flip them a little bit.
- 1:07:07Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying. The pictures of fifteen, but
- 1:07:09Speaker 2: i'd tell people with twenty Yeah, yeah, that's like finding
- 1:07:13Speaker 2: that hustle. I was on Craigslist looking for gig jobs.
- 1:07:15Speaker 2: That was a caddy girl one day. Like I told
- 1:07:18Speaker 2: you that.
- 1:07:19Speaker 1: But that's what I'm saying. Like, do you think now,
- 1:07:21Speaker 1: do you think entrepreneurs are like born out the womb
- 1:07:24Speaker 1: or do you think they could go to college and
- 1:07:26Speaker 1: then become an entrepreneur.
- 1:07:28Speaker 2: I don't think entrepreneurs are for everyone. Yeah, because I
- 1:07:32Speaker 2: think it's too exhausting. Yeah, Like I think working a
- 1:07:38Speaker 2: nine to five, I think the goal for me, before
- 1:07:40Speaker 2: realizing I wanted to be an entrepreneur, I wanted to
- 1:07:43Speaker 2: make two fifty at a corporate time.
- 1:07:46Speaker 1: I'm still praying to hit that too fuch at a
- 1:07:47Speaker 1: corporate job. Oh, at a corporate that to me would.
- 1:07:50Speaker 2: Have made me not do anything else. Okay, because the
- 1:07:52Speaker 2: one seventy five was great. I was living in a
- 1:07:55Speaker 2: great apartment and traveling, but my parents needed help and
- 1:07:57Speaker 2: I was like, oh, I need more money for my parents.
- 1:08:00Speaker 2: If I had two fifty, that's money I could have
- 1:08:02Speaker 2: to help them and if I want to have a kid,
- 1:08:03Speaker 2: I can live in this money. But mind you in
- 1:08:06Speaker 2: New York. Yeah yeah, like two fifty in another city
- 1:08:09Speaker 2: might be a million dollars.
- 1:08:10Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:08:10Speaker 2: My rent even then was twenty five d It's crazy, bro. Yeah,
- 1:08:14Speaker 2: But I say all that to say nine to fivers
- 1:08:18Speaker 2: are making a lot more money than entrepreneurs. Yeah, you
- 1:08:20Speaker 2: know what I'm saying. Entrepreneurs are out here really struggling.
- 1:08:22Speaker 2: It's tough. But I think it's because some people are
- 1:08:24Speaker 2: chasing a dream that they think they should do when
- 1:08:26Speaker 2: really that's not it.
- 1:08:28Speaker 1: How would they identify the dream that is it though,
- 1:08:32Speaker 1: and from the dream that isn't I.
- 1:08:34Speaker 2: Think one if it feels like a passion, are you
- 1:08:37Speaker 2: happy doing it? Like? Are you doing it because you
- 1:08:41Speaker 2: actually love this? Like? Why do you love making? Eating?
- 1:08:43Speaker 1: While?
- 1:08:43Speaker 2: Bro?
- 1:08:44Speaker 1: I just love great rags to riches stories, Like I
- 1:08:48Speaker 1: have some rich friends and they always tell me they
- 1:08:50Speaker 1: were like in jail somewhere or they were selling as somewhere,
- 1:08:53Speaker 1: And I'm like, wait, you and you live in the
- 1:08:56Speaker 1: seven thousand square foot mansion in La Oh, tell me more.
- 1:08:59Speaker 1: And I just love it. Like I would hang out
- 1:09:01Speaker 1: and I just love the stories. I'd be like okay,
- 1:09:05Speaker 1: but you know.
- 1:09:06Speaker 2: And I would say then with your audience and feeling inspired.
- 1:09:09Speaker 1: But I was definitely lucky because I felt like the
- 1:09:12Speaker 1: friends that I have, like if I'm like, Damn, this
- 1:09:14Speaker 1: bill was high, I'd be like, you wouldn't understand it,
- 1:09:17Speaker 1: be like try me. I'd be like a thousand bucks
- 1:09:18Speaker 1: to be like, Nope, that bill's high. You know, I
- 1:09:21Speaker 1: really and they'd be like, no, it's high, you know.
- 1:09:25Speaker 1: And so luckily I was fortunate to be with some
- 1:09:27Speaker 1: friends that really like that. I felt like, damn, you're
- 1:09:30Speaker 1: hanging out with me, Like if you and I hung out,
- 1:09:32Speaker 1: I would be lowkey geeked just because you have a
- 1:09:35Speaker 1: great personality, but I would also be lowkey geeked because
- 1:09:37Speaker 1: I'm like, I look up to you, like I definitely
- 1:09:40Speaker 1: admire you.
- 1:09:40Speaker 2: You feel like that with people sometimes where I'm like,
- 1:09:44Speaker 2: are we like we're peers? Right? No matter if maybe
- 1:09:48Speaker 2: like maybe my podcast has been going on longer than yours,
- 1:09:50Speaker 2: You're like, oh, that's what I'm gonna get, Like, it's
- 1:09:52Speaker 2: still peers.
- 1:09:53Speaker 1: Well you're more than just a pot Like in my eyes,
- 1:09:56Speaker 1: well you and Mandy accomplished was great, But you gotta
- 1:09:59Speaker 1: think you're a beautiful, attractive woman in the entertainment industry.
- 1:10:02Speaker 1: I have sidebar conversations all the time. I'll leave a meeting,
- 1:10:05Speaker 1: I'll be like, this person wants to fuck, and my
- 1:10:07Speaker 1: friends will be like, how do you know, and be like, bro,
- 1:10:09Speaker 1: I've been in this game way too long. I can
- 1:10:11Speaker 1: tell by the questions the hints they want to fuck,
- 1:10:14Speaker 1: and then I gotta navigate that. So to be attractive woman, Okay,
- 1:10:17Speaker 1: then you're an entertainment. Then you're an entrepreneurs, then you're
- 1:10:20Speaker 1: handling all this business. Then you're sale. When I hear sales,
- 1:10:23Speaker 1: nothing excites me, you know how you get when I
- 1:10:25Speaker 1: hear a girl could sell, I'll be like, oh, this
- 1:10:27Speaker 1: is a it says, this is a real, real time,
- 1:10:30Speaker 1: you know. But so I look at someone like you
- 1:10:34Speaker 1: and I'm like, yeah, I would definitely be in awe
- 1:10:36Speaker 1: like you know, like you know geeks, and same with
- 1:10:39Speaker 1: my friends. Like I have my homie day Storm. I'll
- 1:10:42Speaker 1: hang out in his house or whatever. He literally will
- 1:10:44Speaker 1: only hang out when we work out, which sucks because
- 1:10:46Speaker 1: his workouts are absolutely terrifyingly terriblely hard workouts. Were Like,
- 1:10:52Speaker 1: if I want to have a talk with day Storm,
- 1:10:53Speaker 1: I'm like I'll be at your house have four to
- 1:10:55Speaker 1: work out, and it'll be the worst workout of the century,
- 1:10:58Speaker 1: you know, But I still look up to him, and
- 1:11:01Speaker 1: I'll still be like geeks like yo, I could walk
- 1:11:04Speaker 1: into your house or borrow your house for the weekend.
- 1:11:06Speaker 1: And but I, even though we're friends, I still look
- 1:11:09Speaker 1: up to you, and you're vulnerable. But they're the real
- 1:11:11Speaker 1: inspiration behind my show. They're realize stories and realize advice.
- 1:11:16Speaker 2: And honestly sharing that to the world and then you
- 1:11:19Speaker 2: receiving that fan feedback and things like that, like having
- 1:11:22Speaker 2: the passion that making you feel good learning in the
- 1:11:25Speaker 2: middle of your job. That's how you know you keep going,
- 1:11:28Speaker 2: you know what I'm saying. But also I think the
- 1:11:31Speaker 2: largest mistake entrepreneurs make is if they have a regular
- 1:11:35Speaker 2: job or a steady gig, they leave it for the
- 1:11:37Speaker 2: passion before the passion flourishes. Yeah, and I didn't do that,
- 1:11:41Speaker 2: Like I was working eighty hours a week doing horrible
- 1:11:44Speaker 2: and you know, literally coming in with my suitcase to
- 1:11:47Speaker 2: the office, like, oh, I went to go see my parents,
- 1:11:48Speaker 2: but really I had a fucking four hundred seat show
- 1:11:51Speaker 2: that we fell down, and like that. Today is different
- 1:11:53Speaker 2: now it's double right and it feels great, but like, nah,
- 1:11:57Speaker 2: I had to do both. I think living in the
- 1:12:01Speaker 2: entertainment industry today is interesting because it could be anybody, right, Like,
- 1:12:07Speaker 2: influencers have really ruined fame? You think so? Yes, I
- 1:12:12Speaker 2: guess I could see that.
- 1:12:13Speaker 1: It's weird because I see, like I feel like they're
- 1:12:15Speaker 1: self made and they work very hard, like when you
- 1:12:17Speaker 1: look at the behind those scenes, they work hard. But
- 1:12:20Speaker 1: I definitely will say I don't know. I would like
- 1:12:22Speaker 1: to hear your perspective on it.
- 1:12:24Speaker 2: I think influencers ruined fame because not saying that they're talentless,
- 1:12:33Speaker 2: but content creation as a form of a talent. Like
- 1:12:36Speaker 2: if the Internet is gone, then where do you take
- 1:12:40Speaker 2: it and what do you do with it? You know,
- 1:12:42Speaker 2: I have a big influencer that reached out to me.
- 1:12:44Speaker 2: They're not going broke or anything like they're making like
- 1:12:46Speaker 2: maybe thirty fortieth posts, but they reached out to me
- 1:12:50Speaker 2: and we're like, I need you to have dinner with
- 1:12:52Speaker 2: me or some shit and influence me to do some
- 1:12:54Speaker 2: other shit. Because I realized this is like just what
- 1:12:57Speaker 2: if Instagram doesn't want me to do as anymore? What
- 1:12:59Speaker 2: if Instagram's advertisements for influencers, what if the hashtag goes away?
- 1:13:03Speaker 2: Like she was terrified, and it was when TikTok was
- 1:13:05Speaker 2: about to get banned or something, and I was like, damn.
- 1:13:09Speaker 2: I'm like, I don't know. Half of my naves are
- 1:13:10Speaker 2: off of higi ads. But she was right, like I
- 1:13:13Speaker 2: didn't do anything else. I've just been learning this one skill,
- 1:13:17Speaker 2: and that shit is tough because, like, I don't know,
- 1:13:19Speaker 2: I wouldn't want my kids to be an influencer. I
- 1:13:22Speaker 2: think it also inflates when I say they ruined fame,
- 1:13:25Speaker 2: like you have movie stars, actors, actresses, and even podcasters
- 1:13:28Speaker 2: big fame. To me, like, it's not real.
- 1:13:31Speaker 1: Well, I've seen people too that will get like ten
- 1:13:33Speaker 1: thousand followers and they all already switch up. I'm like, yo,
- 1:13:36Speaker 1: if your bank accounts still read zero, who gives a
- 1:13:39Speaker 1: fuck about some likes?
- 1:13:40Speaker 2: But the same shit is weird because the likes and
- 1:13:43Speaker 2: all this stuff makes you think you're better than you
- 1:13:45Speaker 2: are when there's so many more of you, So you
- 1:13:49Speaker 2: really have to find a thing that makes you different.
- 1:13:51Speaker 2: Like I'm gonna be honest, I follow so many girls
- 1:13:54Speaker 2: that are just hot and kind of look the same
- 1:13:56Speaker 2: because of their clothes, or their workouts or whatever. I
- 1:13:58Speaker 2: don't think I know their names. Really. No. I remember
- 1:14:02Speaker 2: sitting at Lucy and it's my favorite restaurant New York.
- 1:14:04Speaker 2: I always go there in the East Village and I
- 1:14:06Speaker 2: was looking at this girl and I tapped her and
- 1:14:09Speaker 2: I was like, do I know you? Do we have
- 1:14:11Speaker 2: a school together? Genuinely didn't know. I feel like I
- 1:14:13Speaker 2: know you, And she was like, oh, I'm an influencer.
- 1:14:18Speaker 2: I was like, maybe I follow you. What's your name?
- 1:14:20Speaker 2: Didn't ring a bell? Looked at it and I was like, damn,
- 1:14:22Speaker 2: I've been following this bitter a minute. But that's it.
- 1:14:24Speaker 2: You're not even connecting to the content. Yeah, because it's
- 1:14:27Speaker 2: just grid post after grid post ups or something something.
- 1:14:30Speaker 2: That's why people like just hilarious Drew Ski a Pretty
- 1:14:34Speaker 2: V they fucking stick out because we know what they're doing.
- 1:14:38Speaker 1: Yeah and they yeah, but those are also like I know. Well,
- 1:14:42Speaker 1: I'll say for Pretty V because we had her aunt,
- 1:14:44Speaker 1: she's she's also hard. She's like a hustler too. I
- 1:14:48Speaker 1: would say she's she's more of an entrepreneur than an influencer,
- 1:14:52Speaker 1: even though she started that way. You know, you could
- 1:14:55Speaker 1: feel the same with like Bi simone, but something.
- 1:14:57Speaker 2: That they have, something that they do.
- 1:14:58Speaker 1: But I will I honestly say like, and it could
- 1:15:02Speaker 1: be just me vibed, but I would say almost ninety
- 1:15:05Speaker 1: percent of my guests have true integrity. There's somewhere I'll
- 1:15:09Speaker 1: be like after interview reraps, I'll be like, wow, I
- 1:15:12Speaker 1: called bullshit and I won't say who, but there was
- 1:15:16Speaker 1: a couple of episodes where my team I'll be like, damn,
- 1:15:18Speaker 1: that was a bullshit, meaning like they looked bigger than
- 1:15:21Speaker 1: what they were. And then when I got in, I
- 1:15:23Speaker 1: was like, you don't know your shit, you're a fake.
- 1:15:25Speaker 2: Maybe some people just get lucky.
- 1:15:27Speaker 1: They got lucky, or they didn't name drop like hey,
- 1:15:30Speaker 1: your baby mama helped you, or your mom helped you.
- 1:15:32Speaker 1: Why wouldn't you give them the credit that they deserved.
- 1:15:35Speaker 2: Get strange when people don't credit those that helped along
- 1:15:37Speaker 2: the way.
- 1:15:38Speaker 1: I think it's completely strange.
- 1:15:40Speaker 2: Do you know one of them?
- 1:15:41Speaker 1: By the way, if you're on my show and I
- 1:15:43Speaker 1: catch it, I won't say it in front of the guests,
- 1:15:45Speaker 1: but I will go me even the show raps, I'll
- 1:15:47Speaker 1: be like, I called bullshit. They left out somebody because
- 1:15:51Speaker 1: their story isn't adding up and I will literally you
- 1:15:54Speaker 1: could ask my crew, I will.
- 1:15:55Speaker 2: Be wait, it was mine, the sugar daddy.
- 1:15:59Speaker 1: Your your story was as real as they get. But
- 1:16:02Speaker 1: you know, you know you could tell because they'll be
- 1:16:04Speaker 1: a missing gap. You know, they'll be like some part
- 1:16:07Speaker 1: of the story where you'd be like that that didn't
- 1:16:09Speaker 1: line up. There's something missing there. I can always tell
- 1:16:11Speaker 1: because I like, well, you.
- 1:16:13Speaker 2: Know, sometimes the struggle isn't what people like to show,
- 1:16:16Speaker 2: right the highlight reels that they.
- 1:16:17Speaker 1: Need to show the struggle on this show. On this show,
- 1:16:20Speaker 1: you gotta tell me credit your wife.
- 1:16:24Speaker 2: If you're not giving other people their flower, it never
- 1:16:26Speaker 2: takes from you. I was gonna say to you, Charlott
- 1:16:29Speaker 2: MANE makes me do that more than anyone like. It
- 1:16:31Speaker 2: makes me thank my team so much. Like I've never
- 1:16:34Speaker 2: seen anyone be so gracious towards those around him, even
- 1:16:37Speaker 2: when I pay him a compliment, just no one else
- 1:16:40Speaker 2: around Damn you kill this shit man. That was some
- 1:16:44Speaker 2: So I'm like, oh, okay.
- 1:16:47Speaker 1: I've never really I've seen Charlomagye one time. So I
- 1:16:50Speaker 1: literally saw him, was like, thank you so much for
- 1:16:51Speaker 1: everything you do for me.
- 1:16:52Speaker 2: Have a good day. Wait, you just met him in Atlanta.
- 1:16:56Speaker 1: Yeah, that was it, and that's all I said was
- 1:16:58Speaker 1: thank you.
- 1:16:58Speaker 2: What every Christian famous person like normal and authentic? And
- 1:17:05Speaker 2: I think I made a joke on a podcast and
- 1:17:07Speaker 2: I tested it once. I was like, man like, they
- 1:17:10Speaker 2: were like, who do you think is someone that you've
- 1:17:13Speaker 2: met that's a celebrity that you expected to be different?
- 1:17:16Speaker 2: I was like, Charlomanne answers the phone every time. I
- 1:17:18Speaker 2: think it's very strange. Yeah, because you're so like he's
- 1:17:21Speaker 2: literally answered. I could hear him at the breakfast club.
- 1:17:23Speaker 2: What's up? He's monnies me, Like, just really wants to
- 1:17:27Speaker 2: make sure he's accessible to people that he cares about.
- 1:17:30Speaker 2: And I think that's what's inspired me to be a
- 1:17:33Speaker 2: really good leader and just all around good person when
- 1:17:37Speaker 2: it comes to people that have paved the way, because like,
- 1:17:40Speaker 2: we don't see that, we see a lot of I
- 1:17:42Speaker 2: I I, yeah, you know.
- 1:17:44Speaker 1: Well. Also, I think the cool thing about him is
- 1:17:46Speaker 1: that he has like all black woman team pretty much,
- 1:17:50Speaker 1: and he treats all those women great. Because I worked
- 1:17:53Speaker 1: for other people and with other people in the industry
- 1:17:56Speaker 1: and it ain't like that it's more of the boys club.
- 1:17:58Speaker 1: I see the boy's sting blessed and them and getting dirty.
- 1:18:01Speaker 2: And Charlemagne is very much again an authentic person. Yeah,
- 1:18:04Speaker 2: Like I heard him on a I had a call
- 1:18:07Speaker 2: with him for something else, and the other person on
- 1:18:11Speaker 2: the other end of the call was very like, what's
- 1:18:14Speaker 2: the word I'm looking for, almost like a shell of
- 1:18:17Speaker 2: themselves trying to show you how great they are. Charlamagne
- 1:18:19Speaker 2: was in a T shirt in South Carolina, I think
- 1:18:24Speaker 2: visiting family, or maybe he was outside of his crib,
- 1:18:26Speaker 2: but he was like on a chair on a porch,
- 1:18:28Speaker 2: just looking like he was chilling, and everybody else is
- 1:18:30Speaker 2: suited up, and he's like, y'all are so lucky for
- 1:18:32Speaker 2: me to be on this call. Just I could tell
- 1:18:34Speaker 2: you that's what he's thinking. And he's so much of
- 1:18:36Speaker 2: himself and still giving you gems. And I was like, Wow,
- 1:18:40Speaker 2: he didn't even feel the need to like do it
- 1:18:42Speaker 2: up for some Hollywood people. Yeah, because he knows like this,
- 1:18:45Speaker 2: his brand is so raw, and I think we have
- 1:18:49Speaker 2: to be that way. We can't try to be this
- 1:18:52Speaker 2: person that we think other people would like, because they'll
- 1:18:55Speaker 2: smell it just like you did. And I'm saying people
- 1:18:57Speaker 2: smell that all day every day. You could be a
- 1:18:59Speaker 2: casualist that's in that YouTube that's like this person's a liar.
- 1:19:02Speaker 1: Yeah, people clock it. Yeah.
- 1:19:04Speaker 2: And for you to know that as someone that's bringing
- 1:19:06Speaker 2: these people in, like, I think that says a lot.
- 1:19:09Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:19:11Speaker 2: Yeah, Eventually we'll get to the.
- 1:19:13Speaker 1: Space where there's like I can actually call bullshit on
- 1:19:16Speaker 1: the mic. I'm not there yet, I know, but there
- 1:19:19Speaker 1: have been a couple where I'm like.
- 1:19:21Speaker 2: Bull shit, what about you? Being like, there's gotta be.
- 1:19:26Speaker 1: A oh I go in and you can tell because
- 1:19:29Speaker 1: they won't answer the question. And that's how I know
- 1:19:31Speaker 1: it's bullshit. I'll be like, Okay, you're just boy. I'll
- 1:19:34Speaker 1: ask seven different ways. I'm like, Okay, I call bullshit,
- 1:19:37Speaker 1: but I won't say it on the mic yet. I'm
- 1:19:38Speaker 1: not there yet.
- 1:19:39Speaker 2: Plus I guess I gotchast. They're like, oh, like be
- 1:19:44Speaker 2: there for the moment.
- 1:19:45Speaker 1: Yeah. And then also like there's the uncomfortable space, you
- 1:19:49Speaker 1: know with our shows, like we dig into the vulnerability
- 1:19:52Speaker 1: a little bit deep, and I like to say to
- 1:19:56Speaker 1: everybody it's a safe space. Like if I think there's
- 1:19:58Speaker 1: something that you're going to say on our show that
- 1:20:00Speaker 1: I think is going to ruin your career or cancel
- 1:20:02Speaker 1: you do. You don't even have to send your publicist
- 1:20:04Speaker 1: or whoever over to like, oh my god, Colleen or
- 1:20:06Speaker 1: beg me, I'm going to remove it just on game.
- 1:20:09Speaker 1: I'm just you shared your story.
- 1:20:11Speaker 2: I completely agree with you. I think that keeping those
- 1:20:15Speaker 2: moments like I've seen Megan James, I mean, I don't
- 1:20:18Speaker 2: want to talk too much shit. She's spent some money
- 1:20:20Speaker 2: about WTS Studio, but there's some clips where I'm like, WHOA, yeah,
- 1:20:26Speaker 2: you know, like I'm kind of surprised you invite someone
- 1:20:29Speaker 2: in your space to like do that mm hm. And
- 1:20:32Speaker 2: she's just sticking out of my mind right now. I'm
- 1:20:34Speaker 2: not saying she's like a terrible person, but it's a
- 1:20:38Speaker 2: it's a style interviewing that works for her. Maybe she's
- 1:20:43Speaker 2: on more streams than almost who knows, but like, I
- 1:20:45Speaker 2: don't know if I could do it.
- 1:20:46Speaker 1: That's how I feel about, honestly, like Jason Lee, to
- 1:20:48Speaker 1: be honest, I feel like some of the stuff he'd
- 1:20:50Speaker 1: be doing, I'll be like, well maybe, And I have
- 1:20:51Speaker 1: this conversation with my little brother all the time, and
- 1:20:53Speaker 1: I'm always like, ego, maybe maybe I should sell out,
- 1:20:56Speaker 1: Like because I look at such as such kind of
- 1:20:58Speaker 1: like how you look at social media, like look at
- 1:21:00Speaker 1: this person. It's like they're really honestly, like they don't
- 1:21:04Speaker 1: give a fuck about anybody's career, you know, and then
- 1:21:06Speaker 1: they Jason Lee.
- 1:21:08Speaker 2: At Charlemagne back in the day, I'm Magan James. I
- 1:21:10Speaker 2: think you know what you're getting when you go on
- 1:21:11Speaker 2: the door. Yeah, And I think people almost it's like
- 1:21:16Speaker 2: ze Way. People would say, how the fuck does anyone
- 1:21:19Speaker 2: keep going on there?
- 1:21:20Speaker 1: Like, you know, I don't know what ze Way is, but.
- 1:21:22Speaker 2: You don't know what she's the black girl that had
- 1:21:24Speaker 2: the show on Showtime where she would ask people questions
- 1:21:26Speaker 2: and like should Julia Fox. Charlemagne was a guest on there.
- 1:21:30Speaker 2: She was her famous one.
- 1:21:32Speaker 1: But what was she ask them?
- 1:21:34Speaker 2: She would just ask them questions that would make them
- 1:21:36Speaker 2: look bad. Oh really, Like she showed Charlemgne a diagram
- 1:21:40Speaker 2: and had them point out someone she was like, oh
- 1:21:41Speaker 2: so you think that white people are superior type shit?
- 1:21:43Speaker 2: Oh okay, But like it's like she was one of
- 1:21:45Speaker 2: those and I think like people prepare themselves for those
- 1:21:48Speaker 2: funny Marco. I don't know how people say.
- 1:21:50Speaker 1: What that nerves is that the one is where the
- 1:21:52Speaker 1: guy just says like insulting things or something kind of yeah,
- 1:21:56Speaker 1: cause I saw that show and I was like, look,
- 1:21:58Speaker 1: I just love that show period.
- 1:22:00Speaker 2: Like it's content.
- 1:22:01Speaker 1: Yeah, it's content is very good.
- 1:22:02Speaker 2: I think maybe it's just content that I can't make.
- 1:22:05Speaker 2: But you know, it's hard for me to push unless
- 1:22:08Speaker 2: I think something's wrong, like I do. Man on the
- 1:22:11Speaker 2: Street for my TV show a lot. Yesterday, this guy
- 1:22:14Speaker 2: talked about how he had met a girl to work
- 1:22:16Speaker 2: or do something, and I was like, he's black. Oh
- 1:22:18Speaker 2: what kind of girls are dating? He's like, I prefer white.
- 1:22:22Speaker 2: And then I can see the camera crewisers in the back,
- 1:22:24Speaker 2: Like I really He was like, yeah, I just updated
- 1:22:27Speaker 2: a black girl and they're really crazy. I was like, okay,
- 1:22:29Speaker 2: so have you ever met a Karen? Were like, well,
- 1:22:33Speaker 2: I don't think that type of way. Oh, but there
- 1:22:34Speaker 2: are crazy white women.
- 1:22:36Speaker 1: But basically right now, my future ex husband he loves
- 1:22:40Speaker 1: white women. But his thing is that black women's standards
- 1:22:44Speaker 1: are are higher or like, they're not as easy as
- 1:22:48Speaker 1: a white girl, and so he lives for the white girls.
- 1:22:51Speaker 1: He lives for the white girls.
- 1:22:53Speaker 2: Literally only cheated on me with white women to the
- 1:22:55Speaker 2: point that I was like, yeah, you're dating me, so
- 1:22:59Speaker 2: your mom is happy. Yeah, And then I realized, oh,
- 1:23:01Speaker 2: maybe I was just light.
- 1:23:02Speaker 1: Skinning up, Like, do you This is completely random, but
- 1:23:06Speaker 1: I have a pet peeve about dating a guy that
- 1:23:08Speaker 1: only dates mixed girls. I can't do it.
- 1:23:11Speaker 2: I haven't missed.
- 1:23:11Speaker 1: I feel like you haven't.
- 1:23:13Speaker 2: Only I didn't know, Like you don't know until.
- 1:23:15Speaker 1: You don't know, but when you find I know. For me,
- 1:23:18Speaker 1: I just feel like there's a little bit of colorism
- 1:23:20Speaker 1: issues there, Like dudes that are like I only like
- 1:23:22Speaker 1: light skin I'm like, all right, I don't know, that's weird.
- 1:23:26Speaker 1: But I started to think when my ex husband my
- 1:23:28Speaker 1: future that maybe he maybe he genuinely just likes white
- 1:23:34Speaker 1: girls and he's just saying that as like a cover up. No,
- 1:23:38Speaker 1: I think you're right.
- 1:23:39Speaker 2: He's like, hey, she light white in a different light, Yeah, exactly,
- 1:23:45Speaker 2: like on some real shit. I think it's kind of
- 1:23:48Speaker 2: scary because you really have to clock them as light
- 1:23:50Speaker 2: skinn people. You gotta clock them as mixed girls like
- 1:23:52Speaker 2: this shit is not cute for like a man that
- 1:23:55Speaker 2: you're dating to only date. I had a guy telling
- 1:23:57Speaker 2: me once that I was acting dark skin He told
- 1:24:00Speaker 2: me it was crazy that my hair wasn't super curly
- 1:24:03Speaker 2: like most mixed girls. Wow, And he was like, you
- 1:24:06Speaker 2: talk different. Wow. Yeah I don't like that round.
- 1:24:12Speaker 1: Yeah I don't. I won't. I won't. Well right now,
- 1:24:14Speaker 1: thank god, I'm like one hundred percent focused on not dating,
- 1:24:17Speaker 1: which is this is the longest I've ever been seeing.
- 1:24:19Speaker 2: That's when they be coming too. I'll be trying to
- 1:24:20Speaker 2: act like I'm not focused on dating. I'll walk in
- 1:24:22Speaker 2: the club and be like, I'm not looking for anyone.
- 1:24:27Speaker 1: I like how you be positioned in it too.
- 1:24:30Speaker 2: I want to date so bad, man, but it's it's tough,
- 1:24:33Speaker 2: and honestly.
- 1:24:35Speaker 1: How do you juggle a breakup with a with a business. Honestly,
- 1:24:38Speaker 1: I'm terrible. If it wasn't for my high school friends
- 1:24:40Speaker 1: scooping me off the floor behind closed doors. Girl, he's gonna.
- 1:24:45Speaker 2: Be okay, you know what I'm saying, Like, I have responsibilities,
- 1:24:48Speaker 2: like hate to get more of it. But the only
- 1:24:49Speaker 2: things that have kept me from killing myself is my
- 1:24:51Speaker 2: dog and my team. And it's not because they're encouraging
- 1:24:54Speaker 2: me to stay, you know. And it's like, hey, we
- 1:24:57Speaker 2: need you to be alive so we can make money.
- 1:24:59Speaker 2: But like, literally I think about them and I'm like
- 1:25:01Speaker 2: one of the people that worked for me I recently
- 1:25:03Speaker 2: found out used to be homeless and thanks me all
- 1:25:06Speaker 2: the time for being able to do things for their
- 1:25:08Speaker 2: mother now and like it's fucking wild. I get random
- 1:25:12Speaker 2: texts from a lot of our staff at two in
- 1:25:14Speaker 2: the morning, love working with you, and I'm like, all
- 1:25:15Speaker 2: these niggas is wrong. It's such a good feeling. But
- 1:25:20Speaker 2: I think about that. I think about that when I'm
- 1:25:21Speaker 2: getting down on myself, like how dare you? Yeah, you
- 1:25:23Speaker 2: know what I mean, Like, you are helping all of
- 1:25:26Speaker 2: these people. I'm gonna leave my parents alone in the world.
- 1:25:28Speaker 2: And when I tell you, my dog no bullshit. I
- 1:25:30Speaker 2: was just being trauma queen one day. I was like,
- 1:25:32Speaker 2: I don't want to be here anymore. And I looked
- 1:25:34Speaker 2: at her. I was like, who's gonna feed me up
- 1:25:37Speaker 2: with those little things? Like really got to bring you back.
- 1:25:40Speaker 2: But when running those businesses, I'm sure for people that
- 1:25:42Speaker 2: are listening that only have themselves, you probably feel like, well,
- 1:25:45Speaker 2: who do I fight for? You? Fight for your future self?
- 1:25:49Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 1:25:50Speaker 2: Right? Everything is momentary. When you're broke, it's momentary. Sometimes
- 1:25:55Speaker 2: when you get in a big check, it might be momentary.
- 1:25:57Speaker 2: Like everything is kind of momentary. It's just that feeling
- 1:25:59Speaker 2: that will last for a little bit, as strong emotions
- 1:26:02Speaker 2: only for a little bit, even when you're crazy in love.
- 1:26:04Speaker 2: It just kind of lasts for a period of time.
- 1:26:06Speaker 2: And I think that when we're down, we feel like
- 1:26:09Speaker 2: it's the end. But you've gotta have faith in your
- 1:26:11Speaker 2: future self.
- 1:26:12Speaker 1: Yeah, I like that. I'm a personally remember that. No,
- 1:26:17Speaker 1: now that I have Zariyah, my daughter, I'm like, yo,
- 1:26:20Speaker 1: if you leave and you the number one gangst the
- 1:26:23Speaker 1: soldier for her, ain't nobody gonna go harder for ze
- 1:26:27Speaker 1: than you? Then then what's she gonna have? And I'm like, shit,
- 1:26:31Speaker 1: I guess, I guess that's it. You know what I'm saying.
- 1:26:35Speaker 1: But I do think too though. Sometimes when you are
- 1:26:37Speaker 1: having a bad day and you have all these responsibilities,
- 1:26:40Speaker 1: I'll be like, well, how can I go? I got
- 1:26:42Speaker 1: like sixteen things planned next week that I have to
- 1:26:44Speaker 1: get done. I can't even take the one day off.
- 1:26:46Speaker 2: This is why they said, they all un there say
- 1:26:50Speaker 2: this thing about how you have to have something to
- 1:26:52Speaker 2: look forward to week. Month, No, I think next days,
- 1:26:57Speaker 2: week or month. I can't remember what it is, but
- 1:26:59Speaker 2: it's basic so that you don't get to where you
- 1:27:02Speaker 2: feel like you have nothing. There has to be something
- 1:27:04Speaker 2: on the calendar, whether it be a workout, whether it
- 1:27:07Speaker 2: be a nail, something you scheduled for yourself. Even if
- 1:27:09Speaker 2: it's not a trip, it's dinner at a cool place.
- 1:27:11Speaker 2: You gotta have something because if you don't have that,
- 1:27:14Speaker 2: then you feel hopeless, like we need to have those things.
- 1:27:17Speaker 2: My mother actually gets like that. My mom's in her seventies.
- 1:27:20Speaker 2: She gets so bored.
- 1:27:21Speaker 1: I can't wait to bring the riots to your mom.
- 1:27:23Speaker 2: Oh my god, babying to do bad. She does it
- 1:27:28Speaker 2: with random people in like restaurants, especially if they're like
- 1:27:31Speaker 2: black and cool. She just be looking at the baby.
- 1:27:34Speaker 2: She won't talk either. She'll just start to do this
- 1:27:37Speaker 2: while the mom's eating it's fine, and then keep talking
- 1:27:40Speaker 2: to me.
- 1:27:40Speaker 1: And I'm like, oh, weezy, it was such a good
- 1:27:46Speaker 1: time having you that I hope that now that you're
