- 0:17Speaker 2: The following feature has been rated R by the Motion
- 0:20Speaker 2: Picture Association of America.
- 0:22Speaker 3: It is intended for mature audiences and parental discretion is advised.
- 0:36Speaker 3: It's showtime, folks.
- 0:38Speaker 4: Enjoy the show.
- 0:41Speaker 5: Our nuclear reactor pumping out one million kilowatts of power.
- 1:12Speaker 6: Bob, I got a bad feeling on this one, alright?
- 1:20Speaker 7: I mean, I got a bad feeling.
- 1:31Speaker 3: What's up, and welcome to Movie Meltdown. I'm Brian.
- 1:34Speaker 7: I'm Jacqueline.
- 1:34Speaker 3: I'm Phillip.
- 1:35Speaker 2: I'm Jeff.
- 1:36Speaker 3: And happy Life Day!
- 1:38Speaker 7: Yay!
- 1:39Speaker 3: We have come together to celebrate the most holiest of holidays,
- 1:44Speaker 3: Life Day. And by that, I mean I've bastardized it
- 1:47Speaker 3: and turned it into whatever the hell I want every December.
- 1:50Speaker 3: So it's probably not even December. Didn't somebody on the
- 1:52Speaker 3: internet figure out when it is? And they put way
- 1:56Speaker 3: too much effort into it.
- 1:56Speaker 8: Jesus Christ.
- 1:57Speaker 3: I'm just like, yeah. I was just like, I don't care.
- 1:59Speaker 3: It's Wookiees and shit. Man, I'm just going to make
- 2:02Speaker 3: a show and call it Life Day.
- 2:03Speaker 9: I don't think the Star Wars months are the same
- 2:06Speaker 9: as ours.
- 2:06Speaker 2: Is there a Star Wars 2... to our reality conversion
- 2:10Speaker 2: of dates and times.
- 2:12Speaker 3: Again, I've heard theories. Again, geeks have nothing but... You'll
- 2:16Speaker 3: probably get lots of angry emails. Because there's some theory
- 2:19Speaker 3: that it works out the years, too, where it's like, ah,
- 2:24Speaker 3: 77 is this year that the Battle of Yavin took
- 2:26Speaker 3: place because it was in 1977. And then if you
- 2:29Speaker 3: map that out over the years, the battles take place
- 2:31Speaker 3: in this year versus... I don't know. It's way too much.
- 2:33Speaker 9: That bothers me less than figuring out that Life Day's
- 2:36Speaker 9: not in December.
- 2:37Speaker 3: Way too much. And I don't know why. Yeah, and
- 2:39Speaker 3: that's why I don't worry about any of it. I'm
- 2:40Speaker 3: a geek, but there's levels of geekdom, man, and that's...
- 2:44Speaker 3: I just have life days so I can make... Oh,
- 2:47Speaker 3: you know what's coming. Wookie cookies!
- 2:50Speaker 7: Oh, you made the cookies?
- 2:52Speaker 2: Yes!
- 2:53Speaker 3: So.
- 2:54Speaker 7: Okay, you didn't make the blue milk, but you made
- 2:56Speaker 7: the cookies. Yeah, because blue milk seemed like it went
- 2:59Speaker 7: to waste, but nobody wants to.
- 3:00Speaker 3: Waste Wookie cookies. Are there raisins in here? Don't... It's
- 3:07Speaker 3: against the Wookiee religion. You know that. Well, I know,
- 3:10Speaker 3: but I always have to ask when someone gives me
- 3:11Speaker 3: a cookie. Wait, are you going to have some sort
- 3:13Speaker 3: of reaction if I put them in? An unhappy reaction.
- 3:16Speaker 3: Let me get the phone. Hold on.
- 3:19Speaker 7: My reaction will be a frown.
- 3:20Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 3:23Speaker 9: I'd hate to ruin 15 plus years of friendship over that.
- 3:26Speaker 3: I do want to say this year's Wookiee cookies were
- 3:30Speaker 3: a fight. And as the Skywalker saga comes to an end,
- 3:34Speaker 3: maybe I'm tired of making Wookiee cookies because they were
- 3:38Speaker 3: not cooperating. Like, these are the best of the batch,
- 3:40Speaker 3: and these ain't that perfect. As you know, I'm kind
- 3:43Speaker 3: of picky about my cookies.
- 3:44Speaker 7: How's your oven here?
- 3:45Speaker 3: It sucks, which is why I don't bake anything here.
- 3:49Speaker 3: I have opted for several years to take the dough
- 3:53Speaker 3: somewhere else to bake it. That's how dedicated I am
- 3:56Speaker 3: to not making sucky cookies. And then this year, they
- 3:59Speaker 3: still wanted to fight me, so.
- 4:02Speaker 3: Maybe we'll come up with a new offshoot for Life
- 4:05Speaker 3: Day in the future.
- 4:05Speaker 7: I wonder if I still have a key.
- 4:09Speaker 3: Because that was the best option, actually. The place that
- 4:13Speaker 3: you used to work and you might break into now
- 4:16Speaker 3: was the best option when I made them.
- 4:18Speaker 7: Unless the oven was going to kill you.
- 4:21Speaker 3: It also tried to kill me, but it didn't make
- 4:23Speaker 3: really good Wookiee cookies. So, I don't know.
- 4:26Speaker 7: And those crispy edges, I love them.
- 4:28Speaker 3: Just a side note on the Wookiee cookies this year.
- 4:31Speaker 3: It's a fight to get them to come out.
- 4:33Speaker 10: They're still good.
- 4:33Speaker 3: These are delicious. One of the struggles of being a Wookiee,
- 4:36Speaker 3: I suppose. So with that, do we want to ease
- 4:41Speaker 3: our way in with any Mandalorian talk? Is anyone else
- 4:44Speaker 3: on board with the.
- 4:46Speaker 9: I still haven't seen it. I want to watch it,
- 4:49Speaker 9: but it pops up on my screen and I'm like.
- 4:52Speaker 3: That's normally how I am with most series, but I
- 4:55Speaker 3: obviously had to make an exception because it's Star Wars
- 4:57Speaker 3: and I'm.
- 4:58Speaker 7: Also kind of just like waiting. I don't know what
- 5:01Speaker 7: it is. It's just kind of like I don't want
- 5:02Speaker 7: to make the investment or the commitment or something like that.
- 5:06Speaker 7: It's like I want everyone to forget about The Mandalorian
- 5:08Speaker 7: and then I'll watch it.
- 5:10Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 5:12Speaker 9: Surprisingly, though, I talk to people all the time who
- 5:16Speaker 9: have seen it, but they don't really tell me much
- 5:18Speaker 9: about it other than that they enjoyed it.
- 5:20Speaker 3: Yeah, I had the first person I ran into yesterday, actually,
- 5:25Speaker 3: that were like, I don't get it. I don't understand
- 5:28Speaker 3: why everybody's all worked up. So I was just like, well,
- 5:30Speaker 3: you're wrong. Because I'm pretty impressed with it. One of
- 5:34Speaker 3: the most recent episodes, I was questioning one of the
- 5:37Speaker 3: best shows of television? Like, it was just really well
- 5:41Speaker 3: put together. So that's just me.
- 5:44Speaker 2: It feels weird to be sitting there watching, let's just
- 5:48Speaker 2: call it TV. episodic TV that is Star Wars that
- 5:54Speaker 2: is good.
- 5:57Speaker 3: And that's kind of why I want to do ease
- 5:59Speaker 3: in with it because it's going to come back around
- 6:01Speaker 3: by the end for me. I think that's what I
- 6:04Speaker 3: like about it is that it's making use of this
- 6:07Speaker 3: Star Wars universe and doing something entirely different with it.
- 6:11Speaker 3: And I'm like, that I kind of want.
- 6:14Speaker 2: When do you remember like 10, again, time is Meaningless
- 6:18Speaker 2: to me anymore. Remember like 10 years ago when Lucas
- 6:21Speaker 2: was saying, I want to do a live action TV show,
- 6:24Speaker 2: and then it didn't happen for two years, and he goes,
- 6:26Speaker 2: it's too expensive to do.
- 6:28Speaker 3: Which at the time, again, pre-Netflix streaming kind of stuff.
- 6:33Speaker 2: Which now I kind of get, because The Mandalorian is
- 6:38Speaker 2: movie quality special effects, and you're like... So this is
- 6:43Speaker 2: what regular TV has become.
- 6:44Speaker 3: And I'm down with it. And sets and costumes. Everything
- 6:48Speaker 3: is that level of quality, but in a TV show,
- 6:52Speaker 3: which you don't always, especially in sci-fi, it's so hard
- 6:56Speaker 3: to deliver really impressive sets that even pretty high-budget shows,
- 7:00Speaker 3: sometimes I'm like, eh, the sets are a little shoddy,
- 7:04Speaker 3: but what do you know?
- 7:05Speaker 2: It is Apple or it is Disney +, so it's
- 7:09Speaker 2: not quite TV. It's kind of, I don't know how
- 7:12Speaker 2: to define things anymore.
- 7:14Speaker 3: It's all a great version of TV.
- 7:16Speaker 2: It's premium cable. It's whatever.
- 7:18Speaker 7: It's weird now when I watch a show that reminds
- 7:20Speaker 7: me of primetime TV. I'm like, the pacing of this,
- 7:23Speaker 7: everything is just so foreign to me now because this
- 7:26Speaker 7: is like the golden age of television where every, I mean,
- 7:29Speaker 7: you know, they don't have the special effects, that kind
- 7:30Speaker 7: of production value, but like True Detective and Fargo, like
- 7:33Speaker 7: they have that cinematic quality. Like the writing, the acting
- 7:37Speaker 7: is all like top shelf.
- 7:39Speaker 3: There's a handful. Mostly I just leave the TV on
- 7:42Speaker 3: because that's what I've done my entire life. But it's
- 7:44Speaker 3: on in the background enough that I still see some
- 7:47Speaker 3: like network TV stuff. And when I get like a
- 7:50Speaker 3: standard run of the mill network sitcom, I'm just like,
- 7:54Speaker 3: this is so weird. It's just so almost a bygone
- 7:59Speaker 3: era now. Like, oh, they do still make these, don't they? Like,
- 8:04Speaker 3: it's weird.
- 8:05Speaker 7: I've been into The Good Place, which does have that feeling.
- 8:08Speaker 7: But it's self-aware about it and it's still weird enough
- 8:13Speaker 7: and like bizarre enough to make up for it.
- 8:16Speaker 3: I really liked it. I love Kristen Bell. So anything
- 8:19Speaker 3: she's doing, I'm on board with. But it's almost like
- 8:22Speaker 3: overwhelming after a while. Because I got three seasons in
- 8:26Speaker 3: and I'm just like. oh god it's coming on like
- 8:29Speaker 3: it's yeah it's too much like they're so high concept
- 8:32Speaker 3: they're so.
- 8:33Speaker 9: Yeah that sort of concept you could really write yourself
- 8:36Speaker 9: in the corner really quickly and I feel like they
- 8:38Speaker 9: did and then to get out of it they had
- 8:40Speaker 9: to just pile on these layers.
- 8:42Speaker 3: And continually reboot themselves within the series sometimes within the
- 8:47Speaker 3: same season reboot things and do a whole different style
- 8:50Speaker 3: all of a sudden and I'm just like.
- 8:51Speaker 9: And I'm enjoying it but man there's a lot going.
- 8:53Speaker 3: On yeah it's like that's creative which is great but
- 8:56Speaker 3: it's also like it takes its toll on you i
- 8:58Speaker 3: feel like like can i just watch a dumb sitcom
- 9:02Speaker 3: and not think so much.
- 9:04Speaker 7: It's like high energy yeah and high concept yeah it's
- 9:07Speaker 7: like slamming your.
- 9:09Speaker 3: Brain but it's really well written like the jokes are
- 9:12Speaker 3: smart and like really kind of cool little like inside
- 9:16Speaker 3: joke stuff the the fact that the supreme being loves
- 9:19Speaker 3: to watch old sitcoms and makes jokes about them and
- 9:22Speaker 3: like that's a nice little touch for geeks out there.
- 9:25Speaker 7: And just loves burritos.
- 9:27Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 9:27Speaker 3: Like again, this is like the, the weird stuff they
- 9:30Speaker 3: work in is, is brilliant. And again, sometimes a little overwhelming.
- 9:34Speaker 2: When I like the, um, the, the layered morality to
- 9:38Speaker 2: where the system rigs itself to where even if you
- 9:42Speaker 2: do something good, there's so many layers deep that leads
- 9:46Speaker 2: to something bad that you're just, because to me that that's,
- 9:49Speaker 2: that's the cosmic joke of everything is that, You're damned
- 9:52Speaker 2: if you do, and you're damned if you don't.
- 9:54Speaker 3: So, screw it all. That is the universal truth that
- 9:57Speaker 3: we've learned.
- 9:58Speaker 2: So, to me, that the the idea that there is
- 10:01Speaker 2: a system and the system is fundamentally broken is to
- 10:06Speaker 2: me the the ultimate joke yes of it all.
- 10:11Speaker 3: Yeah this is why i just try to watch less
- 10:14Speaker 3: intelligent shows it's too much to think about All right,
- 10:20Speaker 3: are we ready to get into this week's movie that
- 10:24Speaker 3: I feel like we're going to have a lot of
- 10:25Speaker 3: stuff to discuss?
- 10:26Speaker 4: Get more out of life. Go out to a movie.
- 10:32Speaker 3: It's an instinct. Force brought us together. We're not alone.
- 11:02Speaker 3: Good people will fight if we lead them.
- 11:08Speaker 2: People keep telling me they know me.
- 11:12Speaker 3: No one does. Long have I waited.
- 11:29Speaker 8: And now.
- 11:33Speaker 3: Your coming together.
- 11:40Speaker 3: Is your undoing. What, uh.
- 11:46Speaker 2: what are you doing there, 3PO?
- 11:50Speaker 6: Taking one last look, sir. At my friends.
- 12:03Speaker 3: Confronting fear. The Force will be with you.
- 12:35Speaker 5: Always.
- 12:49Speaker 3: So, we have, surprisingly, gone out on the town. We
- 12:53Speaker 3: went out into the world and sat with other geeks,
- 12:55Speaker 3: and it was a moving experience, and For me. I
- 13:00Speaker 3: don't know about the rest of you.
- 13:01Speaker 7: I go to the movies all the time.
- 13:03Speaker 3: Oh, I do. But this was different. It was a
- 13:05Speaker 3: different just vibe in the room. There's only a handful
- 13:08Speaker 3: of movies throughout the year that I'm like, this feels different.
- 13:12Speaker 3: I go and usually sit by myself because I'm like
- 13:14Speaker 3: an old man. So I like to go in the
- 13:16Speaker 3: mornings when nobody else is there. It's so great to
- 13:20Speaker 3: be with like three other people in the theater. I'm like, yes.
- 13:22Speaker 7: It's like Saturday morning cartoons.
- 13:24Speaker 3: Yeah. Except I'm watching whatever cool movie I want to.
- 13:27Speaker 3: So yeah. That's the normal way. But this way was,
- 13:30Speaker 3: you know, packed in with a lot of people and
- 13:31Speaker 3: we were all of the same ilk, geeks, to many levels. So, yeah,
- 13:38Speaker 3: this was a different experience. That experience was this week's
- 13:42Speaker 3: Out of the Town feature, which is Star Wars Episode IX,
- 13:46Speaker 3: The Rise of Skywalker. The year is obviously 2019. The
- 13:50Speaker 3: director is obviously J.J. Abrams. And the plot, according to IMDb,
- 13:56Speaker 3: is minimal at best. The surviving resistance faces the First
- 14:01Speaker 3: Order once more in the final chapter of the Skywalker saga.
- 14:05Speaker 3: Really didn't even put effort into that.
- 14:06Speaker 2: No.
- 14:07Speaker 3: Remember that stuff in the other two movies? Yeah, it's
- 14:09Speaker 3: more of that. Which, they're right, but.
- 14:13Speaker 3: Alright, so... Where do we want to begin?
- 14:17Speaker 7: Where to begin?
- 14:18Speaker 3: I feel like there's a lot to discuss. There's the
- 14:21Speaker 3: basics of the movie itself, and then the overarching... within
- 14:25Speaker 3: this trilogy within the whole saga so there's a lot
- 14:30Speaker 3: of stuff you're.
- 14:30Speaker 7: Gonna want to go macro to micro or.
- 14:34Speaker 3: I tried to at least because again i only got
- 14:37Speaker 3: to see it that one time so i'm like am
- 14:39Speaker 3: i gonna forget half this stuff which i probably am
- 14:40Speaker 3: so i also try to get like a a basic
- 14:43Speaker 3: synopsis to try to hit some of the points as
- 14:45Speaker 3: the plot goes along too and then i'm sure we'll
- 14:48Speaker 3: sidebar on many many issues along the way so i
- 14:52Speaker 3: don't know do we just want to kind of run
- 14:54Speaker 3: through the plot more or less or just the bigger picture.
- 14:58Speaker 9: Of things my first thought is i enjoyed it i
- 15:04Speaker 9: had a good time with this movie.
- 15:05Speaker 3: That that was my leaving the theater mode first of
- 15:08Speaker 3: all as the lights came up and there were just
- 15:10Speaker 3: a bunch of old people tearing up in the dark
- 15:13Speaker 3: my life has been about this like it really was
- 15:16Speaker 3: a little a little verklempt you know you're a little
- 15:18Speaker 3: like and again not even this specific movie it's just
- 15:21Speaker 3: like this This whole thing has been really kind of
- 15:25Speaker 3: important in my life.
- 15:27Speaker 9: I will say I did have two moments I can
- 15:29Speaker 9: remember off the top of my head where I almost cried.
- 15:31Speaker 3: Like genuine tears. And again, it was, I think, bigger
- 15:35Speaker 3: than the specifics of this movie. It was way more
- 15:38Speaker 3: weight behind everything because of the ridiculous amount of years I've,
- 15:43Speaker 3: most of my life, what little brain I have has
- 15:46Speaker 3: been devoted to Star Wars. So like so much of
- 15:49Speaker 3: it kind of weighed on all of that. I can
- 15:52Speaker 3: also get to what I think is what, because again,
- 15:55Speaker 3: I had a good experience myself. And as time's gone on, I've,
- 16:01Speaker 3: as geeks do, found a million things to nitpick about.
- 16:04Speaker 3: But at the time, I was like, it still kind
- 16:06Speaker 3: of worked for me. And then the other moment that happened,
- 16:11Speaker 3: because I sat there like a geek through the credits,
- 16:13Speaker 3: and surprisingly, a few people around me did. And one
- 16:17Speaker 3: of them was this family. And there were like two
- 16:20Speaker 3: little girls there. And one of them's, like, the littlest is, like, four, maybe.
- 16:25Speaker 3: And her older sister's wearing a Luke Skywalker shirt. And, like,
- 16:29Speaker 3: old school, like, Jedi era Luke Skywalker that I guess
- 16:31Speaker 3: is reprinted. So, like, they're heading out, and the little
- 16:34Speaker 3: girl in her little, like, lispy four-year-old voice is just like,
- 16:39Speaker 3: that was amazing! And I'm like, damn it. Like, it
- 16:45Speaker 3: still works. Like, it still is working on countless generations
- 16:51Speaker 3: now we've hit so many different levels of kid that
- 16:53Speaker 3: still just get sucked in because it's star wars and
- 16:56Speaker 3: i'm like i think that hit me maybe even more
- 16:58Speaker 3: than the movie like the fact that it's still working
- 17:01Speaker 3: and still sucking kids in like it did me i'm
- 17:03Speaker 3: like that was maybe the most impressive thing right there
- 17:07Speaker 3: was that little kid going that was amazing and still
- 17:10Speaker 3: being excited about it and they were in the they
- 17:12Speaker 3: were parked next to me too so even all the
- 17:14Speaker 3: way out they were like talking about plot points and
- 17:16Speaker 3: i'm like This is my whole life. This is what
- 17:18Speaker 3: kicked it off for me, and I'm obviously still doing
- 17:21Speaker 3: it now. So, yeah, that was my overall view at
- 17:25Speaker 3: the beginning.
- 17:26Speaker 7: That's a very wholesome story.
- 17:27Speaker 3: Yeah, it was fun, and I had a good time.
- 17:30Speaker 3: And then later I sat and thought about stuff, and
- 17:32Speaker 3: I was like, what the fuck? What about this? Why this?
- 17:37Speaker 3: And so then the geek mode kicked in. But my
- 17:39Speaker 3: initial run, I had a good time.
- 17:41Speaker 9: When we were walking through the theater to find our auditorium,
- 17:46Speaker 9: There was, headed towards us, there was what I'm assuming,
- 17:49Speaker 9: it was a little kid and what I'm assuming was
- 17:51Speaker 9: his dad or uncle or he was kidnapped, whatever.
- 17:55Speaker 3: Guardian. Yeah. Legal guardian, perhaps. The little kid is like
- 17:58Speaker 3: super excited and he's.
- 17:59Speaker 9: Like, oh my god, that means that Ray and Kylo
- 18:04Speaker 9: Ren are cousins.
- 18:06Speaker 3: And the dad was like, well, not necessarily, but for
- 18:08Speaker 3: like that minute, I was like, what the fuck? What
- 18:10Speaker 3: the fuck?
- 18:12Speaker 2: And.
- 18:13Speaker 3: Then after I watched the movie, I thought, you know,
- 18:15Speaker 3: I'm going to do that. I'm just going to.
- 18:16Speaker 9: Stand outside and just spout off about how they're cousins, how.
- 18:20Speaker 3: He is really a dude. Just make up wrong information to, like,
- 18:24Speaker 3: spoiler it, but not real. Right. Make people feel like
- 18:28Speaker 3: it's been spoiled for them. And then mostly when they're
- 18:30Speaker 3: walking out, they'll just be angry and be like, that
- 18:32Speaker 3: dude lied. Like, son of a bitch. All right.
- 18:39Speaker 2: Now, unless I misinterpret, like, family trees, they're not in
- 18:43Speaker 2: any way cousins.
- 18:44Speaker 3: Not that I can tell. Unless there's some sort of.
- 18:46Speaker 2: Just making sure that I didn't miss something.
- 18:48Speaker 7: It's like the only way they're cousins is that they
- 18:50Speaker 7: are descended from different families.
- 18:53Speaker 3: Like Romeo and Juliet.
- 18:55Speaker 2: Just making sure that my understanding of the family trees
- 18:58Speaker 2: of Star Wars universe, that they aren't really cousins.
- 19:02Speaker 3: Sorry to confuse you.
- 19:03Speaker 7: That's okay.
- 19:04Speaker 3: Well, I mean, sometimes I miss big.
- 19:07Speaker 2: Points, just making sure that, you know.
- 19:09Speaker 3: Sure, I get it. And it's the Star Wars universe,
- 19:11Speaker 3: so everybody's kind of related, and that doesn't mean you
- 19:14Speaker 3: don't kiss.
- 19:15Speaker 2: Although, I have to admit, and again, I don't go
- 19:19Speaker 2: too much into the now legends it was, the extent
- 19:23Speaker 2: of it, but did anyone ever bother to mention that
- 19:27Speaker 2: Palpatine had a family?
- 19:30Speaker 3: That's one of the things that came up as time
- 19:32Speaker 3: went on. I was like... If you're having a family,
- 19:36Speaker 3: if you're a dad of any sort, why are you
- 19:38Speaker 3: wasting your time with this little Anakin dude? Why are
- 19:41Speaker 3: you spending 20 years planning to take over his life
- 19:45Speaker 3: when you got a son right there that you could corrupt?
- 19:48Speaker 2: Obviously, everyone knows that that isn't his last name like
- 19:57Speaker 2: She or something like that.
- 19:58Speaker 3: I think his first name is Sheev Sheev Palpatine so
- 20:02Speaker 3: everyone knows that Sheev Palpatine became the emperor so what
- 20:06Speaker 3: do you think his kids were like Hey, Dad? What's
- 20:10Speaker 3: up with that? Dad, do we have to move to
- 20:12Speaker 3: that big fancy place where the emperor lives?
- 20:15Speaker 2: You know, do you think at Christmas things got really
- 20:17Speaker 2: weird or were they not invited?
- 20:19Speaker 7: I bet he's like a deadbeat dad wasn't there.
- 20:22Speaker 9: That thought occurred to me too. We don't know that
- 20:26Speaker 9: he didn't have a love child with one of his interns.
- 20:29Speaker 2: Yeah, and was like, fuck you.
- 20:31Speaker 3: So is that family known to him?
- 20:33Speaker 2: Did that family know he was their grandfather or whatever.
- 20:39Speaker 6: Well, they kind of.
- 20:40Speaker 9: Implied that, yeah, they know that this is the granddaughter,
- 20:44Speaker 9: so that's why we're hiding her, but just barely.
- 20:48Speaker 3: And also, they're disgraced or something. To muddy the waters
- 20:53Speaker 3: even more so, and back to that other point, there
- 20:56Speaker 3: was a story that I can't even remember where it
- 21:00Speaker 3: came from, and I'm assuming is legends now, but there
- 21:03Speaker 3: was a weird story that was like, she... essentially created
- 21:08Speaker 3: anakin and initially in that first you know phantom menace
- 21:12Speaker 3: era we were like did he like hook up with
- 21:14Speaker 3: mom and then i think as the weird legend stories
- 21:17Speaker 3: go it's like it's not it's like he got together
- 21:21Speaker 3: with the the sith dark side of the force to
- 21:24Speaker 3: make the most concentrated evil kid that he could and
- 21:28Speaker 3: it like jesus style like manifested itself into his mom
- 21:32Speaker 3: which is why she had no idea how he got
- 21:34Speaker 3: there and like but it was like sheaves doing and
- 21:37Speaker 3: doctoring of the force that created this.
- 21:40Speaker 2: Child that was the whole dark ages yeah yeah you
- 21:43Speaker 2: can create life la la la.
- 21:45Speaker 3: So i'm like that does kind of make him his
- 21:47Speaker 3: dad right in an unofficial blood way he created him
- 21:54Speaker 3: Aren't they then cousins again? I guess so.
- 21:57Speaker 2: Damn it.
- 21:57Speaker 3: That kid was right.
- 21:59Speaker 9: And then my wife pointed out, she's like, which one
- 22:02Speaker 9: of Ray's parents was it? Was it the mom or
- 22:05Speaker 9: the dad?
- 22:06Speaker 3: I think it was the dad. Which one? But they
- 22:08Speaker 3: never really. I thought they said the dad. I thought
- 22:10Speaker 3: they said he had a son or something like that.
- 22:13Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 22:14Speaker 3: But either way.
- 22:15Speaker 9: There will very shortly be a novel about all of us.
- 22:18Speaker 3: There's probably four of them already being written right now.
- 22:21Speaker 2: And when did he have said son?
- 22:24Speaker 3: Was it.
- 22:27Speaker 2: Pre-emperor? Or was he all mummy?
- 22:31Speaker 3: I mean, it's got to be about the same time
- 22:34Speaker 3: frame as Anakin because then grandkids grew up around the
- 22:37Speaker 3: same age.
- 22:39Speaker 7: That's the only thing that I even want to try
- 22:42Speaker 7: to imagine. Anything after that is like.
- 22:45Speaker 3: what she's hot you know it don't pretend I.
- 22:48Speaker 2: Don't imagine Palpatine like going to some dive bar you
- 22:51Speaker 2: know in his.
- 22:52Speaker 3: Club just cruising yeah especially after he like takes over
- 22:56Speaker 3: you know I'm the.
- 22:57Speaker 12: Emperor I'm the best pick up line ever exactly you know.
- 23:01Speaker 3: I have my own palace I've got a lap dog
- 23:05Speaker 3: I make him do whatever I want I burn the
- 23:08Speaker 3: hell out of him and then I just put him
- 23:09Speaker 3: in a.
- 23:09Speaker 2: Suit now did that bother anyone that big reveal.
- 23:15Speaker 3: Which the Palpatine part? That didn't bother me.
- 23:19Speaker 9: Other than when I started thinking about it later.
- 23:21Speaker 3: Well, how does that work? That kind of bothered me.
- 23:23Speaker 9: But I was like, no, I can handle this.
- 23:25Speaker 3: That's... If they're going to make... Because when I.
- 23:28Speaker 9: Heard that they're bringing the Emperor back, that's when I
- 23:30Speaker 9: was like, I don't know. But then when they gave
- 23:33Speaker 9: it a connection like that, I.
- 23:34Speaker 3: Was like, okay.
- 23:35Speaker 7: Bringing the Emperor back bothered me a lot more than
- 23:38Speaker 7: Rey being a Palpatine.
- 23:41Speaker 3: I think that's where we have to get into another
- 23:44Speaker 3: layer of this too. It's like, what's going on on screen,
- 23:47Speaker 3: what's the story part of it, in quotes, versus what's
- 23:51Speaker 3: going on behind the scenes that's pulling these strings that
- 23:54Speaker 3: now make these things happen. Because I was thinking that earlier.
- 23:58Speaker 3: I was like, Star Wars... post internet is probably the
- 24:02Speaker 3: most doctored with series ever because from, from attack of
- 24:07Speaker 3: the clones on everything becomes so heavily influenced by fan base,
- 24:12Speaker 3: by internet chatter, by people bitching that they, for some
- 24:17Speaker 3: reason they should just be like, screw you. This is
- 24:19Speaker 3: my art. I'm doing what I want. Especially when Lucas
- 24:21Speaker 3: was doing it, he should have been. Cause that's why
- 24:23Speaker 3: Phantom Menace is so isolated and like insulated and, it's
- 24:26Speaker 3: its own weird little movie because nobody complained about it yet.
- 24:30Speaker 3: Like it was, he'd worked for 20 years to come
- 24:32Speaker 3: up with this concept. He made it out of pocket
- 24:35Speaker 3: and threw it out to the world. And then people
- 24:37Speaker 3: just lost their mind. And from that point on, every
- 24:40Speaker 3: Star Wars has been like, oh, well, okay, they don't like, okay,
- 24:43Speaker 3: we have to do this. And like rewrites and recastings
- 24:46Speaker 3: and firing directors keeps happening every time just because people like,
- 24:52Speaker 3: Complain about stuff. And then they're still not happy. And
- 24:54Speaker 3: they're still not happy. And they never will be because
- 24:55Speaker 3: they're geeks. But I think you can see that, especially
- 24:59Speaker 3: in this movie, like massively in this movie. Like you
- 25:02Speaker 3: see the backpedaling and you see so many changes being
- 25:05Speaker 3: made that I'm like, there's no way in hell when
- 25:08Speaker 3: you wrote Force Awakens, any of this stuff was going
- 25:10Speaker 3: to happen.
- 25:11Speaker 9: Because well they've even admitted they had no when they
- 25:14Speaker 9: wrote uh force awakens they had no idea what was
- 25:17Speaker 9: going to happen and i and.
- 25:18Speaker 3: That was like the game that that jj was playing
- 25:21Speaker 3: at that time is like i'm gonna set this up
- 25:23Speaker 3: i'm mr mystery box i'm gonna set this up and
- 25:25Speaker 3: i'm gonna leave all these loose threads i'm gonna hand
- 25:27Speaker 3: it off to two other directors and then one and
- 25:30Speaker 3: then not one and it changed hands so many times
- 25:33Speaker 3: after that but It's like he specifically, that was kind
- 25:36Speaker 3: of the game, was just like, and then you do
- 25:38Speaker 3: what you want with it. And then people lost their minds.
- 25:41Speaker 3: And he's like, oh, shit, I guess I have to
- 25:43Speaker 3: reel it back in and do the basic thing that
- 25:46Speaker 3: I did the first time, which was kind of reboot
- 25:49Speaker 3: the idea and take things we already are familiar with
- 25:52Speaker 3: and we kind of like already and not stray too
- 25:55Speaker 3: far from that. And that's what I feel like is
- 25:57Speaker 3: happening here. It's like, had it just been written all
- 26:01Speaker 3: at once, years ago before any of this happened and
- 26:04Speaker 3: they followed through with that plan, I think we'd have
- 26:06Speaker 3: a totally different movie.
- 26:07Speaker 11: Oh yeah.
- 26:08Speaker 3: This is like, you can feel like this is why
- 26:10Speaker 3: the emperor gets thrown back in. This is why, because
- 26:14Speaker 3: I feel like last movie, Ray's parents were nobody. And like,
- 26:17Speaker 3: that really is the way Rian Johnson wanted it to be.
- 26:19Speaker 3: He was just like, he put that scene in. And
- 26:22Speaker 3: at the time I even said, he could just be
- 26:24Speaker 3: messing with her or he doesn't know what's going on,
- 26:26Speaker 3: which was the actual story. But I'm like, I assumed
- 26:28Speaker 3: he was just like making her feel even more useless
- 26:32Speaker 3: and then he could sway her over to the dark
- 26:33Speaker 3: side which could have worked but instead now i see
- 26:37Speaker 3: the real world coming in going oh people hated that
- 26:39Speaker 3: idea i better make her somebody's daughter because that's what
- 26:42Speaker 3: we do in star wars everybody's got to be related
- 26:44Speaker 3: to somebody and they go with what is the easiest
- 26:47Speaker 3: option which is oh she's related to somebody uh ben
- 26:50Speaker 3: kenobi uh palpatine fuck i don't know i'll just throw
- 26:53Speaker 3: somebody in there That's.
- 26:54Speaker 7: Exactly the way that I read it. It was like,
- 26:57Speaker 7: I actually, like, I know a lot of people didn't
- 26:59Speaker 7: like Episode 7, but I really did. And it kind of, like,
- 27:02Speaker 7: reintroduced and recaptured some of that Star Wars magic.
- 27:06Speaker 2: It did.
- 27:06Speaker 7: And, like, it asked a lot of new questions. It
- 27:08Speaker 7: was opening all these new doors. And it was making you,
- 27:11Speaker 7: you know, it was making you think, like, who's this
- 27:13Speaker 7: Rey person? Where did they come from? And it was like, oh,
- 27:16Speaker 7: all these questions. And then Episode 8 was like, no.
- 27:20Speaker 7: I'm going to close all those doors.
- 27:22Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 27:22Speaker 7: You're going to get what you get, and it's going
- 27:24Speaker 7: to be what you know. And then I felt like
- 27:27Speaker 7: this one was trying to be like, no, open those.
- 27:30Speaker 7: Try to open those doors back up a little bit. No, no,
- 27:32Speaker 7: it's too late. Oh, crap.
- 27:34Speaker 3: But it didn't even do that, really, because he really
- 27:36Speaker 3: did just kind of come back and reset everything like
- 27:39Speaker 3: he left. Like, everything that got thrown out there is like,
- 27:42Speaker 3: this is probably going to be a thing we're going
- 27:44Speaker 3: to follow through with. JJ comes back. He's like, nope. Like, parents,
- 27:49Speaker 3: still somebody's kid. Rose, pfft. who's Rose? Like he just,
- 27:54Speaker 3: everything else that got thrown out there.
- 27:56Speaker 9: Rose is a good example of what you're talking about
- 27:57Speaker 9: with the fan reaction, which I was kind of upset
- 28:00Speaker 9: about because I have no problem with that character. I
- 28:03Speaker 9: think the actress who plays her is, is amazing at it.
- 28:05Speaker 9: I think it's a good sort of, but not really
- 28:08Speaker 9: comic relief. And we had like five minutes of screen time,
- 28:13Speaker 9: screen time with her where she really wouldn't have mattered
- 28:16Speaker 9: if she was there or not.
- 28:17Speaker 3: Yeah. And that's what I think is you can see
- 28:20Speaker 3: so much of the real world coming into play. That's
- 28:22Speaker 3: one of many examples of that.
- 28:25Speaker 9: Well, that's where I get mad at Star Wars fans
- 28:28Speaker 9: all the.
- 28:28Speaker 3: Time because of what they bitch about.
- 28:30Speaker 9: And now we've got a character that they've completely ruined
- 28:35Speaker 9: because they harassed her so bad that she thought about
- 28:38Speaker 9: giving up on acting entirely.
- 28:40Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 28:40Speaker 9: And then to the point where they just pretty much
- 28:42Speaker 9: wrote her out of what could have been a really
- 28:44Speaker 9: interesting character. They wrote her out of the series.
- 28:47Speaker 3: Yeah, that was my issue last time. I think she,
- 28:49Speaker 3: as an actress, is fine. I think they really gave
- 28:52Speaker 3: her nothing to do. Even though she's got tons of
- 28:55Speaker 3: screens time, I think all of that sidetracking stuff with
- 28:58Speaker 3: her and Finn is kind of useless. And then by
- 29:01Speaker 3: the end, I'm just like, wait, why did we spend
- 29:03Speaker 3: all this time with these characters when we didn't really
- 29:05Speaker 3: get anywhere? Well, and they basically.
- 29:09Speaker 2: like what was the guy from lord of the rings
- 29:12Speaker 2: who suddenly shows up i was.
- 29:14Speaker 3: Thinking that i was like crossover.
- 29:16Speaker 2: He had more lines and more screen time oh yeah
- 29:19Speaker 2: rose did yet rose was sort of being set up
- 29:23Speaker 2: as finn's love interest but then they introduce another character
- 29:26Speaker 2: who is also an ex-stormtrooper as his love interest sort
- 29:31Speaker 2: of and i'm like so you just throw this one
- 29:33Speaker 2: out throw two new people in i kind.
- 29:37Speaker 7: Of saw like at the i guess kind of close
- 29:39Speaker 7: to the beginning of the film when she's on the
- 29:41Speaker 7: screen for the first time and finn kind of just
- 29:42Speaker 7: like gives her like a little like shoulder thing and
- 29:44Speaker 7: i'm like oh.
- 29:45Speaker 3: They broke up it's like yeah there's like that awkwardness
- 29:48Speaker 3: because he also like it wasn't it wasn't a personal
- 29:52Speaker 3: connection at all it was just like a very yay
- 29:55Speaker 3: hopeful rebel kind of shoulder yeah it was kind of
- 29:58Speaker 3: a go team sort of a very pc thing that
- 30:02Speaker 3: i'm just like that's not a relationship either not that
- 30:05Speaker 3: they were really there that is another one of those
- 30:08Speaker 3: points i wanted to hit along the way of one
- 30:10Speaker 3: of the more frustrating things just because because i don't
- 30:14Speaker 3: think everything needs to be about relationships and i don't
- 30:17Speaker 3: think every male and female character has to turn into
- 30:20Speaker 3: some weird relationship angle but because they focus so much
- 30:24Speaker 3: on this Finn relationship arc that like from the very
- 30:29Speaker 3: first movie, I stand and everyone wants to argue what
- 30:32Speaker 3: his motivation is. But I mean, like to me, that
- 30:34Speaker 3: first movie, he is so puppy dog in love with,
- 30:38Speaker 3: with Ray. He just, that comes through to me. And like,
- 30:41Speaker 3: so that's part of that arc. And Ray kind of
- 30:43Speaker 3: seems like you're cool. We're friends anyway. Like she doesn't
- 30:48Speaker 3: really go down that road, but she likes him as
- 30:50Speaker 3: a person. It's all good. So you think, okay, we're
- 30:52Speaker 3: coming in with two, they're going to try to counterbalance
- 30:55Speaker 3: that with giving him someone new to be interested in.
- 30:58Speaker 3: But they really don't develop that relationship at all. She
- 31:00Speaker 3: just randomly blurts stuff out at the end of the movie,
- 31:03Speaker 3: and you're like, why weren't we building this relationship the
- 31:06Speaker 3: whole rest of this movie instead of just running around
- 31:08Speaker 3: with wild horses and shit? But instead, she just sort
- 31:11Speaker 3: of blurts it out, and I'm like, okay, so now
- 31:13Speaker 3: it's going to be this, what is Finn going to do,
- 31:15Speaker 3: because he really likes her, but now he's got this
- 31:17Speaker 3: girl that's actually interested in him, so it becomes sort
- 31:20Speaker 3: of a, Dilemma for him to deal with. No, no.
- 31:24Speaker 3: We come to the new movie. Not only have we
- 31:26Speaker 3: kind of blown off Rose, we've rekindled this I've got
- 31:30Speaker 3: something to tell you thing that we string along for
- 31:32Speaker 3: the whole damn movie. And then by the end, we
- 31:35Speaker 3: also introduce a new potential love interest maybe that also
- 31:39Speaker 3: goes nowhere. I'm like, why do we keep setting up
- 31:42Speaker 3: all these crazy relationship angles for Finn if we're going
- 31:46Speaker 3: nowhere with every single one of them? Finn deserves love too.
- 31:52Speaker 3: I mean, again, the fan base out there still wants
- 31:54Speaker 3: to put him together with Poe, from what I hear. Oh, yeah.
- 31:56Speaker 7: I was waiting for that.
- 31:57Speaker 3: Go searching for that fan fiction. But even then, I'm
- 32:00Speaker 3: sure that's going to come up in this. Actually, it did,
- 32:03Speaker 3: now that I think about it. At the celebration, did
- 32:06Speaker 3: we not see two women... Full on kiss? Yes. And
- 32:09Speaker 3: I was like, alright, see, they're already planting that seed.
- 32:12Speaker 3: It's cool in the Star Wars universe. We're okay with it.
- 32:15Speaker 3: I feel like that was testing the water.
- 32:17Speaker 7: It better be.
- 32:19Speaker 3: Have you seen the internet? Like, Jesus. All they do
- 32:22Speaker 3: is lose their mind over stupid things. People are still
- 32:25Speaker 3: freaked out that Tom's a black stormtrooper. Yeah, yeah. I mean,
- 32:29Speaker 3: that was disturbing to me, is how much backlash that
- 32:31Speaker 3: got when that first trailer came out.
- 32:32Speaker 9: When that came out, people were saying that that proved
- 32:34Speaker 9: that Star Wars was anti-white, which makes... zero sense to
- 32:38Speaker 9: me no matter how you do the math on it.
- 32:40Speaker 7: Which just kind of proves that no great art is
- 32:42Speaker 7: going to be made if you listen to fans. If
- 32:44Speaker 7: you're compromising all the time.
- 32:46Speaker 3: Why I don't understand why they keep doing that. I'm
- 32:49Speaker 3: just like, just make your thing. Just make it and
- 32:51Speaker 3: if people hate it, tough. It's freaking Star Wars. People
- 32:54Speaker 3: are still going to go see it.
- 32:56Speaker 13: It is.
- 32:56Speaker 3: And again, eventually you're going to get better product out
- 33:00Speaker 3: of it and I feel like the fans that appreciate
- 33:02Speaker 3: that are going to be the ones that come back.
- 33:04Speaker 3: And if the other people don't like it, then they'll
- 33:06Speaker 3: fall off and go find something else.
- 33:08Speaker 7: Your job is to make this movie that's going to
- 33:09Speaker 7: make them feel differently and see things differently, not the
- 33:13Speaker 7: other way around.
- 33:14Speaker 3: Which is what it's become, again, since Phantom Menace, essentially.
- 33:19Speaker 3: Every movie since then has been, and not just a
- 33:23Speaker 3: few times. I mean, even look at just the most recent. Solo,
- 33:27Speaker 3: we had to switch directors midway in because of their
- 33:30Speaker 3: weird behind-the-scenes stuff of like, everything has just been such
- 33:33Speaker 3: a mess on the production end of it that i'm
- 33:35Speaker 3: surprised we've gotten the decent movies that we have out
- 33:38Speaker 3: of it over the years because it's just a fight
- 33:41Speaker 3: every step of the way of switching out directors and
- 33:44Speaker 3: rewriting they almost switched the lead actor too yeah because
- 33:48Speaker 3: people just wanted to complain and i'm like he's he's
- 33:50Speaker 3: fine like nobody's gonna be harrison ford deal with it
- 33:53Speaker 3: we're gonna have more stories about this character he's a
- 33:56Speaker 3: huge character they're gonna keep writing books they're gonna keep
- 33:59Speaker 3: making stories so just make peace with It's going to
- 34:02Speaker 3: be another actor eventually.
- 34:04Speaker 9: I know this is like a blasphemous to say because
- 34:07Speaker 9: it's Star Wars, but it's a movie.
- 34:11Speaker 3: It's entertainment. Last night, I got into a weird, again,
- 34:15Speaker 3: not even recording, I got into a good hour-long argument
- 34:18Speaker 3: over Star Wars. I know everyone's shocked, but that was
- 34:22Speaker 3: one of my things. I was like, I am a geek,
- 34:24Speaker 3: and I will, again, as I said earlier, I've devoted
- 34:26Speaker 3: so much of my life to Star Wars, but I'm
- 34:29Speaker 3: still not that far gone that i can't go but
- 34:32Speaker 3: at the end of the day it's a movie and
- 34:34Speaker 3: there's way more important things in the world that you
- 34:37Speaker 3: need to be focused on than nitpicking and whining and
- 34:40Speaker 3: complaining about whatever the hell went on in this new
- 34:43Speaker 3: movie that by the way you didn't make you didn't
- 34:45Speaker 3: have anything to do with it's just entertainment for you
- 34:48Speaker 3: you're supposed to like it or not but the fact
- 34:51Speaker 3: that people get so up in arms over it.
- 34:55Speaker 7: It's out of control which one in uh gladiator um
- 34:59Speaker 7: the What's his name?
- 35:01Speaker 2: Commodus was the.
- 35:04Speaker 3: Commodus.
- 35:05Speaker 2: No, Commodus was Russell Crowe. Oh, he was Marcus Aurelius.
- 35:11Speaker 2: Commodus was the Caesar.
- 35:13Speaker 3: Yes. Like, that's what they're like right now. Joaquin is
- 35:15Speaker 3: what you're saying. Just like, yes, Joaquin. The Joaquin of
- 35:17Speaker 3: this movie.
- 35:18Speaker 7: They're sitting back like, I am not entertained.
- 35:21Speaker 2: You know, I haven't... I think the... I think Disney's
- 35:25Speaker 2: in an unenviable position in that they basically bought the
- 35:29Speaker 2: biggest franchise in the world, but yet they don't know
- 35:33Speaker 2: how to handle the fandom of the biggest franchise in
- 35:36Speaker 2: the world.
- 35:37Speaker 3: But that was pre-existing because you watched Lucas go through
- 35:40Speaker 3: the same stuff and change his movies two and three
- 35:44Speaker 3: to match what fans on the internet were complaining about.
- 35:46Speaker 2: Well, I guess he didn't like, hey, Disney, here's what
- 35:49Speaker 2: you're getting yourself into.
- 35:50Speaker 3: Yeah, they should have known, really.
- 35:52Speaker 2: Which is surprising that, again, Marvel has arguably created the
- 35:58Speaker 2: biggest fandom in the world, and they seem to handle
- 36:01Speaker 2: it pretty well.
- 36:02Speaker 3: That's what I was going to say.
- 36:04Speaker 2: And I think part of it is they're like, this
- 36:06Speaker 2: is where we're going. Take it or leave it. We
- 36:09Speaker 2: don't care.
- 36:10Speaker 3: That's what I think is what's missing, is you had
- 36:13Speaker 3: a Kevin Feige that was there in maybe not the
- 36:15Speaker 3: first couple movies, but pretty early on, before we even
- 36:19Speaker 3: got to that first Avengers, they were like, here's what
- 36:21Speaker 3: we're doing 10 years out. This is the plan. We're
- 36:24Speaker 3: sticking to it. We'll make some minor changes along the way.
- 36:27Speaker 3: We lost a director along the way. But for the
- 36:29Speaker 3: most part, like, they stuck to their guns and it's like,
- 36:31Speaker 3: this is the arc. This is what we're telling. If
- 36:33Speaker 3: we need to lose characters, if we need to, like,
- 36:36Speaker 3: you know, they found a lot of weird stuff along
- 36:38Speaker 3: the way that should have rubbed people the wrong way.
- 36:41Speaker 3: But they stuck to the game plan and, like, it
- 36:44Speaker 3: kind of works.
- 36:45Speaker 2: Well, but even with the fandom, they're like.
- 36:48Speaker 2: Oh, you don't like the movie where we have a
- 36:50Speaker 2: main black character? You know, we don't care.
- 36:53Speaker 7: There's going to be like two white people in the
- 36:55Speaker 7: movie and they're going to be bad.
- 36:56Speaker 2: You know, you don't like, you're upset they were giving
- 36:59Speaker 2: Black Widow a movie? We don't care. You don't like
- 37:02Speaker 2: Catherine Bravo?
- 37:03Speaker 3: We don't care. Yeah.
- 37:04Speaker 2: It's like, we're going.
- 37:06Speaker 3: We're going to put millions of dollars behind it because
- 37:10Speaker 3: we want to. And that's, yeah, that shows you what
- 37:13Speaker 3: a great production game plan is. makes such a difference.
- 37:18Speaker 3: It's like they needed that. That's why I don't understand why,
- 37:21Speaker 3: because I was thinking that as I was sitting there yesterday.
- 37:23Speaker 3: I'm like, why didn't JJ just sign on? Like, I
- 37:27Speaker 3: know he kind of took a lot of heat coming
- 37:28Speaker 3: into it anyway, but he proved himself for at least
- 37:32Speaker 3: a certain amount of the fans. And then I'm like, okay,
- 37:34Speaker 3: just finish it out. Because, again, that's what worked. That's
- 37:39Speaker 3: what worked about Seven was he rekindled all those old
- 37:42Speaker 3: feelings and he stuck to... enough stuff but still opened
- 37:48Speaker 3: up these new avenues that we could go follow new
- 37:50Speaker 3: characters add new plot points but for the most part
- 37:53Speaker 3: he didn't stray too far from what we knew Star
- 37:56Speaker 3: Wars to be in the original three movies and then
- 38:00Speaker 3: it just yeah trying to hand it off once or
- 38:02Speaker 3: twice depending on which version just seems like a bad idea.
- 38:07Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 38:07Speaker 7: I think you should go back and just make another
- 38:09Speaker 7: eight and nine just to, because there were so many, like,
- 38:12Speaker 7: like he like had this like silver platter with seven
- 38:14Speaker 7: where he was just like, all right, here is a
- 38:17Speaker 7: ball to dunk. Like I've left all.
- 38:19Speaker 3: Of these avenues.
- 38:20Speaker 7: You can do whatever you want. And then it was like, oh,
- 38:23Speaker 7: and then we get this. But the thing is, I don't,
- 38:25Speaker 7: I don't even mind where it went necessarily, but I
- 38:29Speaker 7: just feel like.
- 38:29Speaker 3: There was so many opportunities. Yeah. Yeah. That's what I
- 38:32Speaker 3: said about that last one is like it, It had
- 38:35Speaker 3: potential that it didn't follow through on. Along the way,
- 38:38Speaker 3: it did some great stuff. Because I do think he's
- 38:41Speaker 3: a really talented filmmaker. I also think it's funny that
- 38:44Speaker 3: his movie is playing next to this one. Because Knives
- 38:47Speaker 3: Out is awesome. I was really impressed by that. I
- 38:51Speaker 3: still need to see that. It is really good. And
- 38:53Speaker 3: that's what I think is interesting. It's really well written.
- 38:56Speaker 3: It's really well put together with all these characters. And
- 38:59Speaker 3: that's what I feel like is suffering. I don't have
- 39:01Speaker 3: problems with a lot of the stuff that people do
- 39:03Speaker 3: out of the last movie. it was the basic character
- 39:06Speaker 3: interactions and development and like weird side arcs. And like,
- 39:10Speaker 3: that's what doesn't make any sense in that last one.
- 39:12Speaker 2: I think, I think the worst about, and I, so
- 39:16Speaker 2: I came out of the last Jedi really liking it
- 39:19Speaker 2: because of certain, because of some of the things it did,
- 39:21Speaker 2: like you're nobody yet here you are one of the
- 39:24Speaker 2: most powerful. I like the idea.
- 39:26Speaker 3: I was fine with that.
- 39:27Speaker 2: The Force is open to everybody and have at it.
- 39:31Speaker 3: That's how it originally started. That's the way I liked it.
- 39:33Speaker 3: So I'm good to be back on board with it.
- 39:35Speaker 2: But as I've consumed The Last Jedi four or five times,
- 39:38Speaker 2: I'm like, the fault is in the plot and the
- 39:41Speaker 2: pacing of this movie.
- 39:42Speaker 3: It really is.
- 39:43Speaker 2: Not so much the ideas.
- 39:44Speaker 9: Well, I said even when I saw the first one,
- 39:47Speaker 9: I was like, if they'd taken... Two, maybe three more
- 39:50Speaker 9: shots at the script overall, we would have had a
- 39:53Speaker 9: much tighter, much more cohesive, much more enjoyable movie.
- 39:58Speaker 3: The first of the new trilogy or the last one? No, no,
- 40:01Speaker 3: on Last Jedi. Last Jedi, okay. Yeah, I kind of agree.
- 40:05Speaker 3: I feel like there's so many points where, as we
- 40:09Speaker 3: always do on this show, I'm like, If you like,
- 40:11Speaker 3: I come up with my idea that I'm like, I
- 40:13Speaker 3: think this would have worked a lot better. And I'm like,
- 40:15Speaker 3: I know you don't give a shit, but I'm like,
- 40:17Speaker 3: if I can find what I think works better as
- 40:20Speaker 3: a plot and you're the screenwriter, like there's a problem there. Like,
- 40:23Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 40:24Speaker 9: I think a big problem too is, and we've talked
- 40:26Speaker 9: about this before. There's for a while, there's too much
- 40:29Speaker 9: star Wars. There's too many. And they've gone from with
- 40:33Speaker 9: these in the, I guess what would be the main
- 40:37Speaker 9: part of star Wars to, I don't think, because I
- 40:40Speaker 9: think they only had like a year to work on
- 40:41Speaker 9: each one, whereas with Jedi and Empire, they had like
- 40:46Speaker 9: two or three years between them. And they had committees
- 40:49Speaker 9: on those. With these new ones, I think they're getting
- 40:52Speaker 9: like a year and they don't have as many people contributing.
- 40:55Speaker 3: It's just the internet.
- 40:57Speaker 9: Because even with the original movies, you had a ton
- 40:59Speaker 9: of people saying, George, I don't think that's such a
- 41:01Speaker 9: good idea.
- 41:01Speaker 3: And that's why they're better than the prequels.
- 41:03Speaker 2: Right.
- 41:03Speaker 3: Because he still had people telling him no. By that
- 41:07Speaker 3: prequel time, not only did he have nothing but yes-men
- 41:10Speaker 3: around him, but he was funding out of pocket. Those
- 41:13Speaker 3: three movies are basic, especially that first one. He paid
- 41:16Speaker 3: for it.
- 41:16Speaker 9: Really hard to tell the guy who's paying for it, no.
- 41:19Speaker 3: At that point, you're like, sure, George, that's a great idea.
- 41:22Speaker 3: And you get a whole bunch of nonsense.
- 41:24Speaker 2: I still remember there's a scene, one of the behind-the-scenes things,
- 41:28Speaker 2: where it's them in a personal movie theater, and we're
- 41:33Speaker 2: watching the final cut of Phantom Menace, and the lights
- 41:35Speaker 2: come up, And George is in the middle, and everyone's
- 41:37Speaker 2: around him, and I swear, and maybe I'm just pushing
- 41:42Speaker 2: my emotions on them. Everyone's like, oh, my God, this
- 41:46Speaker 2: is a pile of crap. And everyone kind of looks
- 41:49Speaker 2: to George, and George goes, I loved it.
- 41:52Speaker 3: And you see everyone just go, oh, thank God. All right, then.
- 41:57Speaker 3: Let's start the promotion.
- 41:59Speaker 2: It's like everyone there is like. oh my god this
- 42:02Speaker 2: is horrible but as long as george likes it we're
- 42:07Speaker 2: i'm safe yeah and again maybe i'm projecting onto that
- 42:10Speaker 2: but it looked to me like those guys were in
- 42:12Speaker 2: terror if you're in that position.
- 42:14Speaker 7: It's like you know you're thinking about your paycheck yeah
- 42:17Speaker 7: i mean.
- 42:17Speaker 3: I don't blame them really you can't i mean professionally
- 42:20Speaker 3: i don't blame them but artistically i'm like somebody need
- 42:23Speaker 3: to go no no no no george what are you
- 42:24Speaker 3: doing like I think that with a lot of really
- 42:27Speaker 3: well-respected directors, I'm like, you still kind of need a
- 42:30Speaker 3: producer or a writer or somebody there to counterbalance you
- 42:33Speaker 3: and go, no, no, no, no, wait a minute. This
- 42:35Speaker 3: isn't working. Like, you need somebody to check you when
- 42:37Speaker 3: you're getting a little out of control. And, like, sometimes
- 42:41Speaker 3: they do that.
- 42:44Speaker 2: I feel that, like, Disney needs to mature a little
- 42:49Speaker 2: and understand that the most vocal people of your fan
- 42:53Speaker 2: base actually constitute about 5% of your fan base.
- 42:56Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 42:57Speaker 2: And if you lose those, you still got 95% of
- 43:01Speaker 2: the people.
- 43:02Speaker 3: See, I don't even know if I blame Disney only
- 43:04Speaker 3: because I don't feel like anything else that goes on
- 43:07Speaker 3: in their company is like that. There may just be
- 43:09Speaker 3: a weird subdivision of Star Wars things that people are
- 43:12Speaker 3: just like, I don't know, because every other aspect of
- 43:16Speaker 3: their company is like titanium. Like, Everything runs perfectly bulletproof.
- 43:22Speaker 3: It's just like the theme park works fine. Nobody messes
- 43:26Speaker 3: with the theme park. We know how to run it.
- 43:27Speaker 3: We do it like every aspect of like their freaking
- 43:30Speaker 3: store in the mall. They know how to run it
- 43:32Speaker 3: like everything works. the Disney way, and nobody questions it
- 43:37Speaker 3: because they're right. Because they've made tons of money, they've
- 43:40Speaker 3: become super successful, like, they know what they're doing. Star
- 43:43Speaker 3: Wars was just such a weird thing that they picked
- 43:45Speaker 3: up along the way that I think it just, because
- 43:48Speaker 3: they haven't integrated it. Yeah, it's like, they don't know
- 43:52Speaker 3: how to work it into the Disney way officially yet,
- 43:55Speaker 3: but yet Star Wars is running on its own craziness
- 43:58Speaker 3: that Lucas left behind, because again, even his were out
- 44:01Speaker 3: of control, so.
- 44:02Speaker 2: Well, isn't Kevin Feige moving over from Marvel to Star Wars?
- 44:07Speaker 3: He needs to.
- 44:09Speaker 2: I think that he may not be the head of.
- 44:12Speaker 3: I think when they finished out the Avengers, that 10-year run,
- 44:18Speaker 3: I think that was like, he's just like, I want
- 44:20Speaker 3: to be done. I want to go out in style.
- 44:21Speaker 3: I don't want to hang around and do another couple
- 44:24Speaker 3: of years. I want to finish my arc and walk away. So,
- 44:29Speaker 3: if he wants to move to Star Wars.
- 44:31Speaker 2: I think that maybe what's happening behind the scenes... I
- 44:33Speaker 2: could be wrong. I just heard it one time and
- 44:36Speaker 2: it didn't fall through. But I think that he is
- 44:38Speaker 2: now the overlord of Star Wars. Which, again, isn't the
- 44:42Speaker 2: worst idea I've ever heard. No, I mean, again, you
- 44:44Speaker 2: need someone who kind of has a 10-year vision of
- 44:48Speaker 2: your things. Because I think that, you know, Disney got
- 44:53Speaker 2: the property and were like, movie, movie, movie. And just
- 44:57Speaker 2: threw movies at everyone and ideas. And then you get...
- 45:01Speaker 2: I liked Rogue One. It's not perfect, but I liked it.
- 45:05Speaker 3: I liked all of them. I think all of them
- 45:08Speaker 3: have been enjoyable. I think there's flaws in different ones
- 45:11Speaker 3: for different reasons, but I think they're all pretty well made.
- 45:14Speaker 7: Some of them I enjoy like a Marvel movie. I
- 45:17Speaker 7: enjoy it because it entertains me, because it's flashy, and
- 45:20Speaker 7: it's like fast food. Which is good. And not necessarily
- 45:24Speaker 7: the Star Wars aspects of it.
- 45:28Speaker 3: But it does still... But not Rogue One.
- 45:30Speaker 2: I really liked Rogue One.
- 45:32Speaker 3: Again, I have issues with that one too.
- 45:33Speaker 2: I mean, I have issues with it.
- 45:35Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah.
- 45:36Speaker 2: Well, what I found interesting about Rogue One was there
- 45:39Speaker 2: is a mountain of stuff that they shot that you
- 45:42Speaker 2: saw in trailers and stuff that wasn't in the final
- 45:45Speaker 2: movie because they basically went in with a skeleton of
- 45:48Speaker 2: a plot and basically said, let's just film whatever we
- 45:52Speaker 2: think is interesting at the time. And then they cut
- 45:55Speaker 2: it down and made a movie for it. Now, that
- 45:57Speaker 2: also gave us one of the most awesome scenes from
- 46:00Speaker 2: Rogue One, which is that that vader scene was unplanned
- 46:03Speaker 2: until someone says what if we did this and they
- 46:06Speaker 2: went let's go we.
- 46:07Speaker 3: Kind of need because vader has become more sad the
- 46:10Speaker 3: more they elaborate on his story i'm like can we
- 46:12Speaker 3: just see him be a badass for one minute in
- 46:15Speaker 3: the universe but.
- 46:15Speaker 2: But that's that same style of filming failed in so
- 46:20Speaker 2: many spots but then gave you this gem of a
- 46:23Speaker 2: scene at the same time but you know you've got
- 46:28Speaker 2: to You really can't rely that you're going to luck
- 46:32Speaker 2: your way into awesomeness. You kind of have to have
- 46:34Speaker 2: a plan.
- 46:36Speaker 3: Especially for something like Star Wars. I mean, there's so
- 46:39Speaker 3: many other movies. Like, you can't even plan to have
- 46:41Speaker 3: a sequel. Because, again, studio involvement will be like, you
- 46:45Speaker 3: made how much? Not enough.
- 46:47Speaker 2: Sorry.
- 46:47Speaker 3: You don't even get another movie out of it. Star
- 46:49Speaker 3: Wars is such a huge franchise. Like, you know something
- 46:52Speaker 3: else is coming. So... somebody needed to be sitting down
- 46:56Speaker 3: to be like, okay, where are we going with all
- 46:58Speaker 3: of these? I feel like somebody needs to be in
- 47:00Speaker 3: control of the whole thing because now that it's, as
- 47:04Speaker 3: we referenced earlier, they have a TV series. So somebody
- 47:07Speaker 3: needs to be like, okay, how does this fit into
- 47:10Speaker 3: the world? How does this fit into our business plan?
- 47:12Speaker 3: How does this fit into the story of it all?
- 47:14Speaker 3: Like you've got to have somebody pulling the strings on
- 47:17Speaker 3: everything from video games to the now new canon novels.
- 47:21Speaker 3: And like all of this has to be like, held
- 47:23Speaker 3: together and like it still feels like they're kind of
- 47:27Speaker 3: need a project manager yeah they still like are scrambling
- 47:30Speaker 3: to piece things together because they were firing everything out
- 47:33Speaker 3: so quickly that like they need to just they've had
- 47:35Speaker 3: an extra like almost a year plus now to kind
- 47:38Speaker 3: of like slow down a little bit like they need
- 47:40Speaker 3: to get a game plan together moving forward so we
- 47:43Speaker 3: don't have to throw everything out there which is part
- 47:47Speaker 3: of what i think is going on I don't know.
- 47:50Speaker 3: That's what I took away. Again, my thinking after the fact. Again,
- 47:55Speaker 3: initially I feel like there's so much fun going on there.
- 47:59Speaker 3: As just a general fun movie. Even for Star Wars fans.
- 48:04Speaker 3: It's one of the few times we get hey, the
- 48:06Speaker 3: gang's back together again. Like we finally, because that's your
- 48:10Speaker 3: issue with even original Star Wars. It's like immediately from
- 48:13Speaker 3: the first movie we split everybody up by empire. We
- 48:16Speaker 3: don't get that and we get a little of it
- 48:17Speaker 3: towards the tail end of Jedi. But it's like That
- 48:20Speaker 3: first movie is just so much fun because it's them
- 48:24Speaker 3: running around the Death Star making smart-ass comments to each other. Like,
- 48:27Speaker 3: it's the gang hanging out together.
- 48:29Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 48:29Speaker 7: And the comedy relief in this movie worked again. Yeah.
- 48:32Speaker 7: It didn't work as well in 8.
- 48:34Speaker 3: Yeah, it was a little off the last round. But yeah,
- 48:37Speaker 3: this one I feel like... Seemed a lot more natural. Well,
- 48:41Speaker 3: I feel like it was almost, again, that's what I
- 48:43Speaker 3: almost feel like the real world coming in and going,
- 48:45Speaker 3: this is what people want. So that scene of like, no,
- 48:48Speaker 3: we're all coming on this trip. It's like, we're telling you, audience,
- 48:52Speaker 3: we know this is what you want. We're all coming
- 48:54Speaker 3: on this trip, damn it.
- 48:55Speaker 9: So... again i feel like lando lando kind of hit
- 48:59Speaker 9: the nail on the head where he was like well
- 49:01Speaker 9: we made it work because we were all we had
- 49:04Speaker 9: and i feel like that was a commentary on the
- 49:06Speaker 9: last two movies you didn't have.
- 49:08Speaker 3: That yeah we didn't have that grouping we didn't know
- 49:10Speaker 3: what we were doing either like we didn't know we
- 49:12Speaker 3: were gonna succeed and we kind of made it work
- 49:16Speaker 3: and so yeah that's kind of where they are again
- 49:19Speaker 3: but i feel like there are so many there's so
- 49:22Speaker 3: much going on and even just this latest movie that
- 49:26Speaker 3: does feel kind of crammed in there i did feel
- 49:29Speaker 3: like it was after setting the 35 minutes of trailers
- 49:34Speaker 3: it really was i did feel that There was too
- 49:39Speaker 3: much in this movie.
- 49:41Speaker 2: And probably my biggest complaint of this movie was the finale.
- 49:46Speaker 2: Felt like it went on too long. And there's too many,
- 49:50Speaker 2: we're winning. Now they're winning. Now we're winning. Now they're winning.
- 49:55Speaker 2: And then, and we're winning. It just felt like, okay,
- 49:57Speaker 2: cut one of those out.
- 49:58Speaker 3: Pick one. Who's winning? Because, and I'm going to jump
- 50:03Speaker 3: to the very end here.
- 50:05Speaker 2: When the fleet shows up, That should have been the end.
- 50:09Speaker 3: I mean, that was amazing. That is one of those
- 50:11Speaker 3: moments I was.
- 50:12Speaker 2: Like, holy shit.
- 50:14Speaker 3: I was like, this is amazing.
- 50:16Speaker 2: But then it went, and now there's a lightning storm
- 50:20Speaker 2: and everyone's getting blah, blah, blah.
- 50:23Speaker 3: Yeah, that was not really necessary.
- 50:25Speaker 2: I was like, that was, again, it was like the
- 50:29Speaker 2: Lord of the Rings ending of, and we're here and
- 50:31Speaker 2: we're here. And I just, at that point, How long
- 50:34Speaker 2: was the movie? Like three hours?
- 50:36Speaker 3: It was pretty long, yeah.
- 50:37Speaker 2: At two and a half hours, I'm like, I kind
- 50:39Speaker 2: of don't want to be push and pulled one way.
- 50:41Speaker 2: I want the ta-da. And that was a great ta-da.
- 50:44Speaker 3: It was.
- 50:45Speaker 2: And scene.
- 50:47Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 50:48Speaker 7: Especially when the first 30 or so minutes of the movie...
- 50:51Speaker 7: was like the pacing was so fast where it was
- 50:55Speaker 7: like the setup of a scene would be like two
- 50:57Speaker 7: seconds it would be like oh here we oh action
- 50:59Speaker 7: action action action action like there was no breathing in
- 51:03Speaker 7: any any of like the first 30 minutes and then
- 51:05Speaker 7: to see the last 30 minutes be so drawn out
- 51:07Speaker 7: i was like wait there's a compromise.
- 51:10Speaker 9: Here i like that about the beginning.
- 51:12Speaker 3: Though because i was like oh we're getting right into the.
- 51:13Speaker 9: Action and it's and it is getting back to what
- 51:16Speaker 9: we yeah And it's getting back to what we love
- 51:18Speaker 9: because action slows down a little bit more action. And
- 51:23Speaker 9: like a lot of the, the classic moments of star
- 51:27Speaker 9: Wars isn't because of the bigger picture, but it's almost
- 51:31Speaker 9: like you get these individual vignettes going through like the,
- 51:34Speaker 9: where the millennium Falcon goes.
- 51:36Speaker 3: In the giant worm on the whole, you know, on
- 51:38Speaker 3: the asteroid, that sort of stuff. So I was like, okay, cool.
- 51:41Speaker 3: We're getting back into that.
- 51:42Speaker 9: But then, yeah, like you say, the ending, it's like, oh,
- 51:44Speaker 9: this should.
- 51:45Speaker 3: Have been over 20 minutes ago.
- 51:46Speaker 9: And, I should be in the car right now.
- 51:49Speaker 7: There was like a specific scene that bothered me like
- 51:51Speaker 7: a lot. And it was like Ray was reading that
- 51:55Speaker 7: book with all the ancient coordinates and whatever in it.
- 51:58Speaker 7: And she was like looking at it for like one second.
- 52:02Speaker 7: You just see her looking at the book for like
- 52:03Speaker 7: one second. And then there's all this hullabaloo and she
- 52:06Speaker 7: goes down there. She's like, I think I know where
- 52:08Speaker 7: it is because of something that I read 10 seconds ago.
- 52:10Speaker 7: It's like, whoa.
- 52:11Speaker 3: In a language I don't even understand.
- 52:13Speaker 7: It's like there is no setup for this.
- 52:15Speaker 3: Ray is really good. Yeah, that's I see. I didn't
- 52:19Speaker 3: even feel that it was like going on too long
- 52:22Speaker 3: at the end. I went the other way of like,
- 52:25Speaker 3: I feel like we're trying to hurry up and end
- 52:28Speaker 3: story arcs and threads from 20 different things. And we
- 52:32Speaker 3: got 15 minutes to do it. So hurry up, get this,
- 52:34Speaker 3: get this, get this. And I'm like, this needed to be, hell,
- 52:37Speaker 3: its own movie or a whole nother scene. Like the
- 52:40Speaker 3: thing that really felt like almost forced to me is
- 52:44Speaker 3: we get the little interaction at the earlier half of
- 52:48Speaker 3: the movie there with Poe and the person from his past.
- 52:53Speaker 3: And so that's kind of like a weird little like
- 52:56Speaker 3: Lando moment of like, here's somebody that knows your backstory.
- 53:00Speaker 3: We come in, there's already a little bit of bad blood,
- 53:02Speaker 3: but you kind of make up and you're like, all right,
- 53:04Speaker 3: we'll be friends and we'll help each other. So it's like,
- 53:07Speaker 3: then we have to counterbalance that with that at the end.
- 53:10Speaker 3: But there's this whole, again, it's like giving Poe a
- 53:13Speaker 3: potential love interest, but we don't really have time to
- 53:17Speaker 3: work on it. So we're just going to throw it out.
- 53:19Speaker 3: And then he'll be like, yeah. And she'll go, nope.
- 53:21Speaker 3: And I'll be like, all right. Plot averted.
- 53:23Speaker 2: I had assumed that she died when they blew up
- 53:26Speaker 2: the planet.
- 53:27Speaker 3: I was like, oh, yeah.
- 53:29Speaker 7: But I mean, that's another thing is like what Brian
- 53:31Speaker 7: says again and again and again is that there's no
- 53:33Speaker 7: freaking stakes and nobody ever dies. Chewie didn't die. C-3PO
- 53:38Speaker 7: got his memory back. Like, Chewie didn't die.
- 53:40Speaker 9: First of all, I was really happy that Chewie did
- 53:42Speaker 9: not die.
- 53:43Speaker 3: Because when the ship exploded... You were alone in that.
- 53:45Speaker 3: Everyone wanted Chewie to die.
- 53:48Speaker 9: At first, when the ship exploded, I was like, oh, cool,
- 53:50Speaker 9: she made the ship explode. Then my wife was like,
- 53:52Speaker 9: Chewie was on there. And then that's when, like, I'm
- 53:55Speaker 9: gonna cry. Shut up, he was not.
- 53:58Speaker 3: And then five minutes later, they were like, oh, he's safe.
- 54:00Speaker 3: Fake out.
- 54:01Speaker 2: Well, and see, I don't necessarily feel that, like, One
- 54:05Speaker 2: of the biggest issues I had with Joss Whedon in, like,
- 54:07Speaker 2: the second Avengers movie was the... Someone's got... For there
- 54:11Speaker 2: to be stakes, someone has to die. And I don't
- 54:14Speaker 2: necessarily believe that.
- 54:16Speaker 3: You know, so... But he likes doing that in Jim.
- 54:18Speaker 7: No, but.
- 54:19Speaker 2: He really likes... Well, but that's his M.O., but I
- 54:21Speaker 2: don't think that that... To have stakes does not mean death.
- 54:26Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 54:26Speaker 2: But somebody... It's a war.
- 54:28Speaker 7: Like, some... That's why I liked Rogue One.
- 54:30Speaker 2: I was like.
- 54:31Speaker 5: Everybody dies.
- 54:32Speaker 3: Finally, people die. I love all these characters. I can't
- 54:35Speaker 3: wait to see what they're up to now.
- 54:37Speaker 2: At the same point, you know... I'm also not going
- 54:41Speaker 2: to a movie to see the people I like die
- 54:44Speaker 2: because it's a movie. And if I want to have that,
- 54:46Speaker 2: I'll just stay home and listen to the news.
- 54:48Speaker 3: I get that. But I think the part that's annoyed
- 54:52Speaker 3: me more, and this was, I've complained many times in
- 54:55Speaker 3: the Marvel run, was like, if you're going to kill him,
- 54:58Speaker 3: kill him. If you're not, just let everybody go on
- 55:00Speaker 3: and kick ass and be happy. But it's the fake
- 55:02Speaker 3: out that got annoyed. Yeah. After we pretend to kill Coulson,
- 55:07Speaker 3: but then we give him his own fucking TV series.
- 55:08Speaker 7: Mm-hmm.
- 55:09Speaker 3: Then we pretend to kill fury but then oh not
- 55:12Speaker 3: within the same movie fake out haha he's not like
- 55:15Speaker 3: they did that three or four times in a row
- 55:17Speaker 3: in a couple of movies and i'm just like you
- 55:19Speaker 3: can't keep playing that card you can do it once
- 55:21Speaker 3: in the whole series maybe and then like they they
- 55:24Speaker 3: just reveal.
- 55:25Speaker 7: That you let breathe that you let people think that
- 55:27Speaker 7: they're dead for more than three seconds like just that
- 55:31Speaker 7: it's like so quick to be like oh she's not
- 55:33Speaker 7: dead it's like come on, let me like grieve it
- 55:35Speaker 7: for like 20 minutes and really think that there's some
- 55:39Speaker 7: tragedy here. And then it's like, oh my God, the
- 55:41Speaker 7: elation that Chewie's not dead.
- 55:44Speaker 3: If there's a reason to even play that card. Because again,
- 55:48Speaker 3: in this new series, it's not like we're not killing
- 55:51Speaker 3: characters we love. They're all gone. Each movie we've offed
- 55:55Speaker 3: one of them.
- 55:55Speaker 9: I have no problem with Luke being dead or Leia
- 55:58Speaker 9: or Han. And I was kind of, much as i
- 56:01Speaker 9: love the character i was kind of like oh let's
- 56:03Speaker 9: see how lando gets killed which of course doesn't happen
- 56:06Speaker 9: billy d will never die but then when they made
- 56:09Speaker 9: me think chewy was dead i was like i want
- 56:10Speaker 9: my money back for not just this movie but all
- 56:13Speaker 9: of them.
- 56:14Speaker 3: I mean even at that moment i was like that's
- 56:16Speaker 3: a weird move like don't i mean don't get me
- 56:18Speaker 3: wrong i mean like they're they're burning bridges like they're
- 56:21Speaker 3: finishing stuff off here but that's a weird move.
- 56:23Speaker 9: If they killed chewy like legitimately killed him in the
- 56:26Speaker 9: third act I would have been okay with that.
- 56:28Speaker 3: I've heard that as, as fans were coming up with
- 56:31Speaker 3: theories that like in this movie, we were going to
- 56:33Speaker 3: end up killing Chewie. We were going to like, end
- 56:35Speaker 3: up like just dive bombing the Millennium Falcon and it's
- 56:38Speaker 3: going to be gone out of the series, which we
- 56:41Speaker 3: did several times wreck it, but they still, I'm sure
- 56:43Speaker 3: it'll be back. No problem. So yeah, I mean, I've
- 56:46Speaker 3: heard many ways of them going out and they didn't
- 56:49Speaker 3: do a lot of those, but like, I think if
- 56:51Speaker 3: you gave him a big, I think that's what rubbed
- 56:53Speaker 3: me the wrong way. It was a random explosion. I'm like, well,
- 56:57Speaker 3: At least give him a big triumphant ending. Yeah, a
- 56:59Speaker 3: big hero moment. And he saved everyone, and that's how
- 57:02Speaker 3: we lost Chewie. But, like, you know, that was just so.
- 57:06Speaker 7: Like handcuffed in the back of a cruiser.
- 57:08Speaker 3: Yeah, I was like, that's the worst, most sad way
- 57:10Speaker 3: to go out.
- 57:12Speaker 9: Someone explain to me how they captured Chewie alive.
- 57:15Speaker 3: Yeah, kind of. That doesn't make any sense. Because he
- 57:18Speaker 3: ripped people's arms out of their suckers.
- 57:19Speaker 9: They showed him in handcuffs and I'm like, wait, that's
- 57:22Speaker 9: not the Chewbacca we know. Chewbacca we know would have
- 57:24Speaker 9: gone down swinging.
- 57:25Speaker 2: He's mellowed in his old age. He's not nearly.
- 57:28Speaker 3: Yeah, but still.
- 57:29Speaker 2: Well, I guess, you know, besides that, the thing that
- 57:32Speaker 2: I found really weird, so he's captured, he's on the flagship,
- 57:37Speaker 2: And a random ship just comes in with a code.
- 57:41Speaker 2: No one visually wonders what the hell is that ship.
- 57:44Speaker 9: Well, the Empire has fallen for that several times.
- 57:49Speaker 3: It's an old code, but it sucks up.
- 57:51Speaker 2: In a movie that's three hours long, that little interlude
- 57:59Speaker 2: could have been removed and then Chewie doesn't get supposedly
- 58:03Speaker 2: killed in the transports.
- 58:05Speaker 3: But again i also feel like that's the trying to
- 58:08Speaker 3: fix the problems part because i feel like that is
- 58:12Speaker 3: the thing that seems the most like trying to raid
- 58:15Speaker 3: the death star and get leia like it's that same
- 58:18Speaker 3: little maneuver and i'm like yeah i mean it kind
- 58:20Speaker 3: of works it's a fun little part but it's probably
- 58:23Speaker 3: not necessary but it feels very reminiscent of the original
- 58:28Speaker 3: movie And I think he was trying so hard to
- 58:31Speaker 3: bring that back because we lost so much when people
- 58:34Speaker 3: got pissed off last time. He's like, no, no, let's
- 58:36Speaker 3: do stuff people liked from the old movie. So I
- 58:39Speaker 3: feel like it's, let's throw scenes like that in there.
- 58:41Speaker 3: And that's totally what that felt like to me. It
- 58:43Speaker 3: was just the detention block all over again.
- 58:46Speaker 9: But I feel like that led to a pretty interesting
- 58:49Speaker 9: scene where she's talking to Kylo Ren and he pulls
- 58:54Speaker 9: the mask through, however he does that little trick, which
- 58:58Speaker 9: was neat.
- 58:59Speaker 3: I've liked that anyway. That's the thing that I think
- 59:02Speaker 3: is the most solid out of Last Jedi. That whole
- 59:05Speaker 3: interaction between... I think that's the one arc that works
- 59:08Speaker 3: all the way through this little... new trilogy is the
- 59:11Speaker 3: dynamic between them. They're hostile and they don't like each
- 59:17Speaker 3: other except there's something there and there's some underlying thing.
- 59:20Speaker 3: And as they spend more time talking to each other
- 59:23Speaker 3: through time and space, they do build this relationship that
- 59:27Speaker 3: you start to buy... And you start to see both
- 59:29Speaker 3: of them might turn. It's like they might change their mind.
- 59:33Speaker 3: Because there are moments, even in that second one, where
- 59:35Speaker 3: I'm like, Ray might just join him. And I don't
- 59:38Speaker 3: know that that's the worst move, because neither the Jedi
- 59:41Speaker 3: or the Sith know what the hell they're doing.
- 59:43Speaker 9: All the way up to the last 20 minutes, I
- 59:45Speaker 9: was like, she could turn. And I know that the
- 59:48Speaker 9: way movies work, and people want the good guy to win,
- 59:51Speaker 9: it's like, I know they're going to turn Kylo Ren,
- 59:54Speaker 9: but she could still possibly, at any second, go.
- 59:58Speaker 3: you know why not yeah and i wasn't sure i
- 1:00:00Speaker 3: wanted him to turn i was okay with the way
- 1:00:03Speaker 3: it came out he really did sort of as much
- 1:00:06Speaker 3: as you can redeem this person but it was rather
- 1:00:09Speaker 3: quick yeah.
- 1:00:11Speaker 2: Well but honestly that's probably my biggest critique of star
- 1:00:15Speaker 2: wars and the whole jedi sit thing is five minutes
- 1:00:20Speaker 2: of experiencing a bad emotion turns you evil five minutes
- 1:00:24Speaker 2: of experiencing a good Emotion turns you good.
- 1:00:27Speaker 3: It's just whoop.
- 1:00:29Speaker 9: It makes sense when Vader comes back to the light
- 1:00:34Speaker 9: side because it's he's watching his son get tortured tortured
- 1:00:37Speaker 9: and even though he hasn't known his son his entire
- 1:00:40Speaker 9: life there's still that.
- 1:00:41Speaker 3: You've also felt that again they keep talking about that
- 1:00:44Speaker 3: conflict in him that whole like from the end of
- 1:00:46Speaker 3: Empire all the way through Jedi it's like you kind
- 1:00:49Speaker 3: of see him starting to question and especially like as
- 1:00:51Speaker 3: we get into the prequel end of it I'm like
- 1:00:53Speaker 3: he had a horrible run like The way that he
- 1:00:57Speaker 3: was mentally abused by Palpatine.
- 1:01:00Speaker 9: Well, like you mentioned earlier, Vader's existence, the more you
- 1:01:02Speaker 9: think about it, is just sad.
- 1:01:04Speaker 3: It is really sad. It's depressing. I can't imagine having
- 1:01:08Speaker 3: to live a life like that. Kylo Ren wasn't that
- 1:01:11Speaker 3: deep of a character, though.
- 1:01:13Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 1:01:13Speaker 3: But I also feel like he played it because he
- 1:01:17Speaker 3: sells it so much as, especially that first one, he's
- 1:01:20Speaker 3: still coming off like, Granted, he's in his 20s easily,
- 1:01:24Speaker 3: but he's an angsty teenager. He's just pissed and yet
- 1:01:27Speaker 3: really powerful. And if you give somebody that much power
- 1:01:31Speaker 3: and they already kind of have a short fuse, I
- 1:01:35Speaker 3: think he balanced those out pretty well that I kind
- 1:01:37Speaker 3: of bought him as that character. Oh, yeah.
- 1:01:40Speaker 2: Yeah, the one thing I would say that I'm kind
- 1:01:42Speaker 2: of shocked made it through all three films was his
- 1:01:46Speaker 2: arc felt the best of me and felt the most
- 1:01:49Speaker 2: consistent even though he went Director A, Director B, back
- 1:01:52Speaker 2: to Director A. I was like, this is actually, this
- 1:01:55Speaker 2: is good. I like that.
- 1:01:57Speaker 3: I think that's the actor. I think he really did
- 1:02:00Speaker 3: zero in on what he wanted to do with this
- 1:02:02Speaker 3: character and he followed through with all three movies.
- 1:02:06Speaker 7: I had written down some notes about after he does
- 1:02:09Speaker 7: turn back to Ben. Oh, I did write something. It's like,
- 1:02:12Speaker 7: Kylo Ren only comes back to Ben after something happens
- 1:02:14Speaker 7: to him. Like, he can see everybody else going through
- 1:02:16Speaker 7: hell and he's like, yeah, whatever. But I was like, oh,
- 1:02:19Speaker 7: somebody showed a little bit of kindness to me. Oh,
- 1:02:21Speaker 7: have to like no empathy have an ass but then
- 1:02:25Speaker 7: I was like after he turns back to Ben the
- 1:02:27Speaker 7: way that Adam Driver is able to portray that he
- 1:02:31Speaker 7: is no longer Kylo Ren with only saying one word
- 1:02:36Speaker 7: which is ouch like but even the way he was
- 1:02:39Speaker 7: like running was like a little bit more human.
- 1:02:41Speaker 2: Yeah just the look on his face and the scar
- 1:02:44Speaker 2: when Rey healed him the scar on his face healed
- 1:02:46Speaker 2: too which I thought was a neat little touch yeah.
- 1:02:50Speaker 3: I also, in that turn, I think, because I remember
- 1:02:53Speaker 3: posing this question as we elaborated on the potential stories
- 1:02:58Speaker 3: down the line on the earlier movies. It's like, okay,
- 1:03:00Speaker 3: even then we were questioning, is he going to turn back?
- 1:03:02Speaker 3: Is that going to be the way they wrap it up?
- 1:03:05Speaker 3: And I remember at the time going... Can he? Specifically
- 1:03:09Speaker 3: for the fan base, you lightsabered through the middle of
- 1:03:13Speaker 3: Han Solo. Can anyone let you come back? And I
- 1:03:17Speaker 3: think that's the only way, again, as a story arc,
- 1:03:21Speaker 3: as a screenwriting thing, is the audience is never going
- 1:03:24Speaker 3: to forgive him unless Han Solo himself shows up and says,
- 1:03:28Speaker 3: you know what, son? It's okay. I know you made
- 1:03:30Speaker 3: a mistake. That little discussion with whatever Han Solo was
- 1:03:35Speaker 3: is the only, again, in the real world, I think
- 1:03:37Speaker 3: is the only way we as the audience could be like,
- 1:03:39Speaker 3: all right, he can turn back to Ben.
- 1:03:41Speaker 2: We'll let it happen. You talk about tearing up. I
- 1:03:44Speaker 2: think that was the part where I'm like, that's actually
- 1:03:46Speaker 2: really sad. That got me.
- 1:03:49Speaker 7: And Adam Driver's sad boy face. Just real tearjerker.
- 1:03:53Speaker 9: But I am glad that they killed him off. Only
- 1:03:56Speaker 9: because from a storytelling... Yeah, how do you... What do
- 1:03:59Speaker 9: you do with that character?
- 1:04:00Speaker 3: What do you do with that guy?
- 1:04:02Speaker 4: Because.
- 1:04:02Speaker 7: He's gonna heal each other back to life, like, endlessly.
- 1:04:07Speaker 9: But it's like, is he gonna go show up with
- 1:04:09Speaker 9: the resistance and they're all gonna be like, oh, it's
- 1:04:11Speaker 9: that guy that.
- 1:04:11Speaker 3: Killed all of our friends.
- 1:04:13Speaker 2: He goes to trial for war crimes. What happens if
- 1:04:16Speaker 2: he stays alive?
- 1:04:17Speaker 3: That would actually make a... well it'd be a boring
- 1:04:20Speaker 3: movie it'd be like well it would be interesting if
- 1:04:23Speaker 3: we do go down the line if we've got like
- 1:04:25Speaker 3: a Kylo Ren rotting away in space prison somewhere storyline
- 1:04:29Speaker 3: that comes up later that like everybody's like yeah well
- 1:04:32Speaker 3: he kind of deserves it you know so it's like
- 1:04:34Speaker 3: that that could lead to an interesting end I don't
- 1:04:37Speaker 3: know how you do more with the plot after that
- 1:04:39Speaker 3: but it could be an interesting little like way to
- 1:04:42Speaker 3: wrap things up that he actually did pay for all
- 1:04:44Speaker 3: his crimes in some capacity But that is another one
- 1:04:48Speaker 3: of those that was kind of weird, too, is even
- 1:04:50Speaker 3: at the beginning of this movie. Like, we're watching him
- 1:04:52Speaker 3: just massacre those people. First of all, I don't know
- 1:04:55Speaker 3: who they are. I'm kind of okay that they just
- 1:04:57Speaker 3: cold open with this, like, battle of him just taking
- 1:05:00Speaker 3: out whatever these weird alien creatures are. But I'm like,
- 1:05:03Speaker 3: who the hell were they? And is it okay that
- 1:05:05Speaker 3: you just killed all... Since you're going to be a
- 1:05:07Speaker 3: good guy by the end of this movie, is it
- 1:05:08Speaker 3: okay that we just watched you murder all these people?
- 1:05:10Speaker 2: Well, and again, I think that's my biggest problem with, again,
- 1:05:13Speaker 2: the five-minute morality of Star Wars is that.
- 1:05:17Speaker 2: And don't get me wrong, I know it can happen
- 1:05:20Speaker 2: in real life, but just typically most people don't jump
- 1:05:24Speaker 2: into evil. They kind of inch their way into evil,
- 1:05:27Speaker 2: and people don't just... I think the opposite is more true.
- 1:05:30Speaker 2: Sometimes you jump into being good when you finally are
- 1:05:33Speaker 2: faced with the horror of their things. But I think still,
- 1:05:37Speaker 2: you don't just jump and then forget how to be
- 1:05:40Speaker 2: evil or good. You jump and then you're like, oh,
- 1:05:43Speaker 2: I've got to do baby steps to get better.
- 1:05:45Speaker 3: Or worse, you know?
- 1:05:47Speaker 2: But it's Star Wars and it's magic and it's whatever,
- 1:05:49Speaker 2: you know.
- 1:06:20Speaker 3: Dreadlord Sinister, here is your coffee, sir.
- 1:06:24Speaker 14: What?
- 1:06:25Speaker 4: I didn't order any coffee.
- 1:06:26Speaker 3: Ah, yes, you did, sir.
- 1:06:28Speaker 2: Three days ago.
- 1:06:29Speaker 3: Three days? Good lord, man, what took you so long? Well, sir,
- 1:06:32Speaker 3: you only wanted coffee from the Southwest Quadrant. Ah, yes.
- 1:06:37Speaker 2: Julio does make it just the way I like it.
- 1:06:39Speaker 3: The Dread Cruiser is 1,200 miles across. It's the size
- 1:06:43Speaker 3: of a planet. Julio's is literally on the other end
- 1:06:46Speaker 3: of the ship. It's... It's night there. Oh, you know
- 1:06:49Speaker 3: what would go great with this? Some of those little
- 1:06:51Speaker 3: crumbly pastries Julio makes.
- 1:06:53Speaker 9: That makes me think of a particular coffee shop in
- 1:06:56Speaker 9: town because we're.
- 1:06:57Speaker 3: Not advertising, right? Oh, it depends. Is it Heine Brothers?
- 1:07:00Speaker 2: It's Heine Brothers.
- 1:07:01Speaker 3: Because... Of the few good things that have happened in

- 1:09:08Speaker 9: What?
- 1:09:08Speaker 3: We're broke.
- 1:09:09Speaker 1: Yeah, we definitely, I'm pulling up, turning my pockets out
- 1:09:12Speaker 1: right now. Nothing.

- 1:09:17Speaker 3: yet I'm trying to produce this show. For you guys

- 1:09:33Speaker 1: I mean, you're going to do like Netflix for like $ 9.
- 1:09:35Speaker 3: 99 and you get And you're probably not going to
- 1:09:38Speaker 3: watch it all month like I do.
- 1:09:40Speaker 7: Yeah, you need our commentary to figure out what to
- 1:09:43Speaker 7: watch on Netflix.
- 1:09:45Speaker 3: I think so. It's like a companion piece to all
- 1:09:47Speaker 3: your Amazons and Netflixes and all of these things. So

- 1:10:12Speaker 1: bank statement and be like, two dollars.
- 1:10:13Speaker 3: Oh yeah.
- 1:10:13Speaker 10: Oh yeah.

- 1:10:37Speaker 3: Why don't you be awesome like Jacqueline? I'm just saying.
- 1:10:39Speaker 1: I mean, really, though.
- 1:10:40Speaker 3: I mean, you can't be that awesome, obviously. But you

- 1:10:51Speaker 16: All I do, all day long, fall down on my
- 1:10:57Speaker 16: knees and pray she come back home for me.
- 1:11:03Speaker 3: Why is our fellow born on me?
- 1:11:06Speaker 7: But I quip, and he doesn't use shaving foam.
- 1:11:16Speaker 13: A wood for Christmas when he already owns a cone. Hello,
- 1:11:20Speaker 13: this is Peter Mayhew, listening to Movie Mountain Down.
- 1:11:24Speaker 6: What can you get?
- 1:11:25Speaker 2: A wood for Christmas when he already owns a cone.
- 1:11:29Speaker 13: What can you get in a hurry for a furry
- 1:11:34Speaker 13: kind of friend like that to take home?
- 1:11:37Speaker 9: What's part of your problem?
- 1:11:40Speaker 4: You know, you haven't seen enough movies. All of life's
- 1:11:42Speaker 4: riddles are answered in the movies.
- 1:11:45Speaker 7: Now, on with the show.
- 1:11:50Speaker 3: I need someone.
- 1:11:52Speaker 2: I need someone to show me my place in all this.
- 1:11:57Speaker 3: But I was going into Tosche, Tosche Station.
- 1:11:59Speaker 13: It's just a fair Tosche, Tosche Station.
- 1:12:04Speaker 2: I'm never going to get out of here.
- 1:12:06Speaker 3: I was going into Tosche, Tosche Station.
- 1:12:08Speaker 6: Oh, my God.
- 1:12:09Speaker 3: Tosche, Tosche Station.
- 1:12:11Speaker 13: It's going to take up some power converters. but that's
- 1:12:16Speaker 13: always been my biggest problem because and again that as
- 1:12:21Speaker 13: a fan me casting my beliefs into it i really
- 1:12:26Speaker 13: wanted at the end one thing that bothered.
- 1:12:30Speaker 3: Me at the end was when.
- 1:12:44Speaker 2: Palpatine's like, you can't kill me. If you kill me,
- 1:12:49Speaker 2: that's anger, and then all of the Sith in me
- 1:12:52Speaker 2: goes in you. I'm like, you're like the most evil
- 1:12:55Speaker 2: person in the universe. Killing you isn't killing you out
- 1:13:00Speaker 2: of anger or hate. It's just saving the universe.
- 1:13:03Speaker 3: From all this stuff. So why does it have to
- 1:13:04Speaker 3: work that way? Well, and they never explain most of
- 1:13:12Speaker 3: what goes on in this other reality that they go to. Because, again,
- 1:13:16Speaker 3: it's like, why is every time a Jedi dies, it's like,
- 1:13:19Speaker 3: if you strike me down, I will become more powerful.
- 1:13:21Speaker 3: And they go into this massive, you know, world of
- 1:13:24Speaker 3: Jedis that protect everything. But, like, Sif, just die. Like,
- 1:13:28Speaker 3: does that not happen? I mean, is there not a super... Again,
- 1:13:31Speaker 3: we saw the weird, like, robed characters there. Is that the...
- 1:13:35Speaker 3: equivalent of like the sith but did they not really
- 1:13:38Speaker 3: have any power because they didn't do anything but disappear
- 1:13:40Speaker 3: so like did they not a lot yeah they threw
- 1:13:43Speaker 3: a lot of chanting which was which was cool the
- 1:13:46Speaker 3: chanting was kind of kind of creepy i do like
- 1:13:49Speaker 3: that that last like 20 minutes had a lot of
- 1:13:51Speaker 3: like hammer horror vibes it really like i was like
- 1:13:55Speaker 3: i kind of like this weird dark horror movie we
- 1:13:58Speaker 3: got going on in the middle of our sci-fi well.
- 1:14:00Speaker 2: I think i mean I look at a lot of
- 1:14:02Speaker 2: concept art and stuff anyway. So the look of when
- 1:14:05Speaker 2: he got to the planet at the beginning and just
- 1:14:07Speaker 2: the look and feel of that, I'm like, this is,
- 1:14:09Speaker 2: this is dark.
- 1:14:10Speaker 9: And I like it, you know, probably those moments were
- 1:14:14Speaker 9: probably the darkest out of the whole.
- 1:14:16Speaker 2: And then just the, the, the, the, the inverted wedge
- 1:14:20Speaker 2: thing and the little floating above. And I was like,
- 1:14:23Speaker 2: this is, this is atmospherically really cool.
- 1:14:26Speaker 3: And again, as, as, I still think that bringing Palpatine
- 1:14:31Speaker 3: back is a lazy move at best. But at the
- 1:14:35Speaker 3: same time, number one, that hanging cadaver maneuver was creepy
- 1:14:41Speaker 3: and weird. And I was just like, I like that
- 1:14:43Speaker 3: they went that dark with him.
- 1:14:44Speaker 2: And the weird screech of the lightning strikes. I'm like,
- 1:14:48Speaker 2: I like this.
- 1:14:48Speaker 3: This is cool. But again, as much as I thought
- 1:14:52Speaker 3: when I saw that last trailer, I was like, of
- 1:14:54Speaker 3: course they're bringing Palpatine back. But the more I thought
- 1:14:57Speaker 3: about it, I was like, But at the same time,
- 1:15:00Speaker 3: that's the entirety of this arc. I mean, if we're
- 1:15:03Speaker 3: making these nine movies, like, four of them are, like,
- 1:15:07Speaker 3: the bulk of it revolves around Palpatine. So I'm like,
- 1:15:11Speaker 3: he really, like, it's weird that all of a sudden
- 1:15:13Speaker 3: the last three have nothing to do with him when, like,
- 1:15:16Speaker 3: the first three are his story, essentially. Like, Anakin's just
- 1:15:19Speaker 3: kind of a side thing. It's all his ridiculous, long,
- 1:15:23Speaker 3: drawn-out plan of of taking over a government. That's what
- 1:15:27Speaker 3: those first three movies are.
- 1:15:29Speaker 9: Well, when those prequels came out, George Lucas said that
- 1:15:33Speaker 9: this is where we're going to see that Star Wars
- 1:15:35Speaker 9: is actually about Darth Vader and not Luke Skywalker. And
- 1:15:39Speaker 9: now with this one, I'm starting to think maybe the
- 1:15:41Speaker 9: story is actually about Palpatine.
- 1:15:43Speaker 3: The whole arc is kind of about Palpatine. Really? It's
- 1:15:46Speaker 3: like we take a few off. But I mean, in
- 1:15:49Speaker 3: the bulk of it, it's like the first three are
- 1:15:52Speaker 3: by five, they're already talking about his big plan. Six
- 1:15:55Speaker 3: is nothing but him. So it's like, it was okay.
- 1:15:58Speaker 3: Like it bookended it. Okay.
- 1:16:00Speaker 7: Like, but there was like no mention or foreshadowing or
- 1:16:03Speaker 7: anything about him in seven and eight. And that's the
- 1:16:05Speaker 7: only kind of thing I was like, and you know,
- 1:16:07Speaker 7: it's like a big reveal. It's the plot twist.
- 1:16:08Speaker 3: Third one. Cool.
- 1:16:09Speaker 2: But well, and then 10, 11, 12 will be the super,
- 1:16:12Speaker 2: super secret Sith planet where, where the super secret guy
- 1:16:16Speaker 2: who is controlling Snoke and Palpatine lives. It's, There's always this,
- 1:16:20Speaker 2: you peel back that onion and there's another bad guy
- 1:16:23Speaker 2: who's above everyone else.
- 1:16:25Speaker 3: And then once again, we get every movie, if we're
- 1:16:28Speaker 3: going to nitpick about Star Wars, this is not a
- 1:16:30Speaker 3: minor win that every movie has to have a Death
- 1:16:32Speaker 3: Star at the end. Well, this time, instead of all
- 1:16:35Speaker 3: Death Star, we have an armada of Death Stars. Instead
- 1:16:38Speaker 3: of going bigger, we went more.
- 1:16:40Speaker 7: And there's only one navigational system for all of them.
- 1:16:43Speaker 3: That was ridiculous.
- 1:16:45Speaker 9: All the star cruisers, or whatever they were called, I
- 1:16:49Speaker 9: was okay with that, but I remember saying to my
- 1:16:51Speaker 9: wife as I walked into the theater, I know the
- 1:16:53Speaker 9: Emperor's coming back, if we get another fucking Death Star.
- 1:16:57Speaker 9: And then they're like, well, not only that, but we
- 1:17:00Speaker 9: get the Death Star.
- 1:17:02Speaker 3: And I was like, well, at least it's the ruins.
- 1:17:03Speaker 3: I was okay with the wreckage of it.
- 1:17:05Speaker 7: That was fun.
- 1:17:05Speaker 3: I was like, I can handle that. Yeah.
- 1:17:08Speaker 2: Well, I have to give credit to the bad guys.
- 1:17:10Speaker 2: So they went from a moon-sized planet killer to a.
- 1:17:15Speaker 3: Full-size planet, eventually.
- 1:17:16Speaker 2: Well, they had a full-size, but then in 8, they
- 1:17:18Speaker 2: had the, they miniaturized it to where it was a
- 1:17:20Speaker 2: big thing, and they could bust a bunker buster, and
- 1:17:23Speaker 2: then it's just a turret. So, at some point, there's
- 1:17:25Speaker 2: going to be handheld Death Stars.
- 1:17:27Speaker 3: It's like phones. You just stick your hand out the
- 1:17:30Speaker 3: window of a spaceship. You're like, I don't like your
- 1:17:32Speaker 3: planet at all. That was another one of those that
- 1:17:36Speaker 3: has come up since then, that I'm like, alright. Again, like,
- 1:17:39Speaker 3: it's so, we just need this stuff. We just slap
- 1:17:43Speaker 3: it together, and we don't worry about the questions. Because then,
- 1:17:46Speaker 3: as the geeks sit around, like, who the hell built
- 1:17:49Speaker 3: all those ships?
- 1:17:50Speaker 7: Right.
- 1:17:50Speaker 3: Like, who the hell is running all this? Who the hell?
- 1:17:53Speaker 9: Apparently, the Emperor has, I'm assuming, an army of clones.
- 1:17:58Speaker 3: Well, I asked that, I mean, even with the First Order.
- 1:18:00Speaker 3: I was just like, where did all these guys come from?
- 1:18:03Speaker 3: When they lost the war 20 years ago, we'd been
- 1:18:06Speaker 3: building a regular, like, republic, more or less, again. And
- 1:18:10Speaker 3: then all of a sudden, they have this massive amount
- 1:18:12Speaker 3: of troops and ships that And everyone, and I'm like, well,
- 1:18:16Speaker 3: where did that come from? So you're telling me in
- 1:18:17Speaker 3: addition to that, there's a whole other hidden version of
- 1:18:20Speaker 3: that that's even bigger with more people running it and building.
- 1:18:24Speaker 3: Who the hell's building all those ships? Where's the money
- 1:18:26Speaker 3: coming from?
- 1:18:26Speaker 2: Now, they did say that they needed basically... the the
- 1:18:30Speaker 2: people the army from the first order to go there
- 1:18:33Speaker 2: to pilot the ships and then they had to conscript
- 1:18:35Speaker 2: a whole bunch of more kids so i give them
- 1:18:37Speaker 2: that but i agree still where's the secret factory on
- 1:18:41Speaker 2: that world that made and why'd you bury him why'd
- 1:18:44Speaker 2: you bury him in the ice to have the giant
- 1:18:46Speaker 2: reveal if just have them sitting there on the ground.
- 1:18:48Speaker 2: I mean, they're floating in the air or something.
- 1:18:50Speaker 13: I mean.
- 1:18:50Speaker 3: And think about how much... Again, just, like, practical things. Like,
- 1:18:54Speaker 3: think about how much money it would cost to build
- 1:18:56Speaker 3: one of those ships.
- 1:18:57Speaker 2: One.
- 1:18:57Speaker 3: Think of how many there are. And, like, where... I mean, yeah,
- 1:19:00Speaker 3: you were emperor. But, like, where is that kind of
- 1:19:02Speaker 3: funding coming from?
- 1:19:03Speaker 2: Apparently, he'd been siphoning off a lot of money.
- 1:19:05Speaker 3: I think he's skimming a little off the top over
- 1:19:07Speaker 3: the years. But still, like, I mean, like, that's just
- 1:19:10Speaker 3: practical questions of, like, how the... magically, all of a sudden,
- 1:19:14Speaker 3: all these ships appear.
- 1:19:15Speaker 9: I'm saying conservatively, one of those probably takes five years
- 1:19:18Speaker 9: to construct.
- 1:19:19Speaker 3: You would think. I mean, it took him like 20
- 1:19:22Speaker 3: to build that first damn Death Star.
- 1:19:23Speaker 9: He's had 40 years, so that gives him eight ships.
- 1:19:28Speaker 2: Well, unless he built them in parallel. Unless he built
- 1:19:31Speaker 2: one and then stopped and did If you did them
- 1:19:33Speaker 2: all at the same time.
- 1:19:34Speaker 3: I think they're like Mercedes Benz. They do them one
- 1:19:36Speaker 3: at a time.
- 1:19:36Speaker 2: It's handcrafted Corinthian leather.
- 1:19:38Speaker 3: Actually, he's such a long-term guy. Do you think like
- 1:19:41Speaker 3: Phantom Menace era, he's like skimming money and start building
- 1:19:45Speaker 3: my ships. Skimming money. So like this 30, 40 year run,
- 1:19:49Speaker 3: he's like suddenly built all these ships.
- 1:19:53Speaker 2: That's the reality of why you don't really have evil
- 1:19:57Speaker 2: masterminds in the real world because... No one noticed all
- 1:20:01Speaker 2: of the steel and concrete being shipped to this volcano?
- 1:20:05Speaker 3: Well, I mean, that's, again, going back to the prequels,
- 1:20:09Speaker 3: the building of the entire clone army. And I'm like,
- 1:20:13Speaker 3: nobody's questioning where this funding came from and who put
- 1:20:17Speaker 3: this order in and why we're building all these people. Yeah,
- 1:20:19Speaker 3: at some point you would have an accountant go, these
- 1:20:21Speaker 3: numbers just do not make sense.
- 1:20:24Speaker 2: So you're telling me that yesterday's lunch cost 15 quintillion
- 1:20:30Speaker 2: space credits.
- 1:20:32Speaker 3: It's just, yeah, there's so... It's best to not overthink
- 1:20:35Speaker 3: these things. Yeah. They do not make any sense. I've
- 1:20:38Speaker 3: said that many times. You start nitpicking at Star Wars,
- 1:20:40Speaker 3: the whole thing unravels. It just falls apart. And you're like,
- 1:20:42Speaker 3: what have I been doing with my life? Yeah. Yeah.
- 1:20:46Speaker 2: And then what was the thing where... He's like, I
- 1:20:49Speaker 2: made Snoke, and then they had the cut-up Snoke in
- 1:20:51Speaker 2: the vat.
- 1:20:51Speaker 3: They showed him in a jar, which is interesting. Again,
- 1:20:55Speaker 3: I think that he's basically cloning Snokes. Yeah. So I
- 1:20:58Speaker 3: think that was maybe the one that worked, that we
- 1:21:00Speaker 3: cut in half. And then this was a whole bunch
- 1:21:02Speaker 3: of failed Snokes. I don't know.
- 1:21:05Speaker 2: And again, that scene was weird enough that I just
- 1:21:08Speaker 2: was like, I'm okay with that.
- 1:21:10Speaker 9: Well, and again, super dark.
- 1:21:13Speaker 3: There's a tank full of half people.
- 1:21:15Speaker 7: It was just like a Hellraiser kind of thing.
- 1:21:17Speaker 2: Yeah, but it was so worth it. I'm like, I'm
- 1:21:20Speaker 2: okay with this.
- 1:21:21Speaker 3: Just go. Well, and again, just feeling like them just
- 1:21:25Speaker 3: scrambling at story. Just like, I don't know, we killed
- 1:21:29Speaker 3: him already. I made Snoke. I made him. It's just
- 1:21:33Speaker 3: grasping at straws here. What can we do? Just throw
- 1:21:37Speaker 3: out there to make people, okay, just again, geeks are
- 1:21:39Speaker 3: going to question things. We got to have an answer.
- 1:21:41Speaker 3: Doesn't have to be a well thought out one. Just,
- 1:21:43Speaker 3: I made him. Nobody mentioned me because I was dead.
- 1:21:46Speaker 3: So I made this other guy to be my puppet
- 1:21:49Speaker 3: to do everything. But he's kind of a jerk for
- 1:21:51Speaker 3: a puppet. He's pretty cocky for a clone.
- 1:21:56Speaker 2: So what about all the new force powers? I mean,
- 1:21:58Speaker 2: so force can heal, force can teleport items.
- 1:22:02Speaker 3: I was okay with all of it. Again, people like
- 1:22:05Speaker 3: to complain about all of that stuff, because we certainly
- 1:22:07Speaker 3: had a lot of that in the last movie, but
- 1:22:09Speaker 3: I'm just like, it's also a continually progressing thing, and
- 1:22:12Speaker 3: it always has been. Now, again, some of it from, like,
- 1:22:15Speaker 3: a screenwriting standpoint, and some of it's just, like, I
- 1:22:18Speaker 3: also feel like Rey and Kylo are, like, super pushing
- 1:22:22Speaker 3: the envelope. Like, everything else was structured in their dumb
- 1:22:25Speaker 3: little religious order, so, like, they stuck to it, but, like,
- 1:22:28Speaker 3: from day one, like, Kylo has been like, what can
- 1:22:32Speaker 3: I do? Can I freeze a bolt in midair because
- 1:22:35Speaker 3: it looks cool and I can show off how powerful
- 1:22:38Speaker 3: I am? I feel like he was always like, what
- 1:22:40Speaker 3: can I do that's different from what everybody else has
- 1:22:42Speaker 3: been doing because I can, because I'm super powerful. And
- 1:22:46Speaker 3: Rey from the beginning is like, I don't have anybody
- 1:22:48Speaker 3: really training me, so let's just figure shit out. So
- 1:22:51Speaker 3: I'm okay with all of that.
- 1:22:52Speaker 9: About a week ago, I wondered, can anyone else shoot
- 1:22:55Speaker 9: lightning bolts besides the Emperor?
- 1:22:57Speaker 3: Apparently they can't. Once it got to the ship, that's
- 1:23:00Speaker 3: like when he sort of alluded to the your parents thing,
- 1:23:04Speaker 3: and then when she stopped the ship and lightning bolts came,
- 1:23:07Speaker 3: I was like, well, we've already answered the question of
- 1:23:09Speaker 3: where you're going with this. She just shot lightning out
- 1:23:11Speaker 3: of her hand, but that or Yoda. Wasn't he the only,
- 1:23:15Speaker 3: didn't he have green lightning in their battle?
- 1:23:18Speaker 2: No, I think he just deflected it. Or did he
- 1:23:20Speaker 2: just catch it and force it back at him?
- 1:23:23Speaker 3: But yeah, Emperor is kind of.
- 1:23:25Speaker 2: I mean, it's space magic, so I mean, you know,
- 1:23:29Speaker 2: I accept it.
- 1:23:30Speaker 7: I prefer there not to be limits on what the
- 1:23:32Speaker 7: Force can do. It's really all about the person and
- 1:23:35Speaker 7: how they're harnessing it and what they're able to do
- 1:23:36Speaker 7: with it.
- 1:23:37Speaker 9: If there weren't limits, Kylo Ren wouldn't be able to
- 1:23:39Speaker 9: pull stuff from one area at And I know he's
- 1:23:42Speaker 9: not doing it on purpose, but I thought that was
- 1:23:44Speaker 9: pretty kick-ass.
- 1:23:45Speaker 3: That's just a weird thing between them, it seems like, too.
- 1:23:48Speaker 7: Yeah, like they're cosmically linked.
- 1:23:49Speaker 9: But if you're not putting limits on what they can
- 1:23:52Speaker 9: and can't do, then from a storytelling point, you're wide open.
- 1:23:56Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:23:57Speaker 9: And that can be good, and it can also be bad,
- 1:23:59Speaker 9: but I think so far they've managed to keep it decent.
- 1:24:03Speaker 7: Yeah, don't do, like, time travel shit.
- 1:24:05Speaker 2: Yeah. Well, yeah, the minute, to me, time travel is.
- 1:24:10Speaker 2: When you're out of story ideas and way to nip
- 1:24:13Speaker 2: your things is when you start going, well, we'll use
- 1:24:16Speaker 2: time travel because we are dead inside and we have
- 1:24:20Speaker 2: no idea.
- 1:24:20Speaker 3: There is time travel in Star Wars. Not in the movies. Yeah, no.
- 1:24:24Speaker 3: It's coming.
- 1:24:25Speaker 11: Don't worry.
- 1:24:26Speaker 3: But no, I mean, that's sort of like within the
- 1:24:28Speaker 3: plot progression of The Force Power is But also just
- 1:24:32Speaker 3: within the screenwriting, it's like I think they also just
- 1:24:34Speaker 3: didn't plan that far ahead from day one, from Lucasair.
- 1:24:38Speaker 3: And this is one I never thought about at the time,
- 1:24:40Speaker 3: but it was brought up in the fan base. And
- 1:24:43Speaker 3: I was like, huh, that is totally true. Go back 1977,
- 1:24:47Speaker 3: that first movie. What are the Force powers? Other than
- 1:24:51Speaker 3: being able to like suggest something to someone.
- 1:24:56Speaker 2: Kind of see by feeling nothing like you can detect
- 1:24:59Speaker 2: when little robots are shooting yeah you gotta sense.
- 1:25:02Speaker 3: But there's no proton missiles there's no and even then
- 1:25:05Speaker 3: i like when i was a kid i assumed he
- 1:25:08Speaker 3: just got a good shot in there like only later
- 1:25:10Speaker 3: did people go no he was using the force to
- 1:25:12Speaker 3: put i'm like oh okay if you say so like
- 1:25:14Speaker 3: i thought he was a good shot like in beggar's
- 1:25:16Speaker 3: canyon back home like i mean something like i don't
- 1:25:19Speaker 3: even think that has to be force-powered so then i
- 1:25:21Speaker 3: heard this theory so see what you think because this
- 1:25:24Speaker 3: is fun assume there is no force the only movie
- 1:25:28Speaker 3: that exists is 77 star wars and ben kenobi is
- 1:25:33Speaker 3: just a drunk old man yeah so there is no
- 1:25:36Speaker 3: because you never there's no like telekinetic powers in the
- 1:25:40Speaker 3: first star i never really thought about it's empire when
- 1:25:43Speaker 3: he starts picking up the the lightsaber we never see
- 1:25:46Speaker 3: any of that the best you get is like ben
- 1:25:48Speaker 3: makes that weird noise with his hand but again maybe
- 1:25:50Speaker 3: he's just a ventriloquist hell i don't know so like how.
- 1:25:53Speaker 9: Many times it took me watching that freaking movie before
- 1:25:55Speaker 9: i even caught on that yeah.
- 1:25:57Speaker 3: It's so minor and that's why i'm like it's it
- 1:26:00Speaker 3: was so like understated in that first movie because george
- 1:26:03Speaker 3: probably hadn't thought of that yet but like there's no
- 1:26:07Speaker 3: real powers to the force it's all like even then i.
- 1:26:14Speaker 2: Mean that's kind of telekinetic so.
- 1:26:16Speaker 3: Yeah or the power of suggestion.
- 1:26:19Speaker 2: I'm gonna choke I'm going to make you choke yourself.
- 1:26:21Speaker 3: And look how scary my costume is. You're going to
- 1:26:25Speaker 3: do what I say, right? And he's right.
- 1:26:28Speaker 2: One of the highlights of the last show to me
- 1:26:30Speaker 2: was how the lightsaber battles became better, more visceral.
- 1:26:37Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:26:37Speaker 2: How if you had something that could cut through anything,
- 1:26:42Speaker 2: you don't fight like it's a sword.
- 1:26:44Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:26:44Speaker 2: You know, you fight like it is.
- 1:26:46Speaker 3: You find new ways to use it.
- 1:26:47Speaker 9: Right.
- 1:26:48Speaker 3: You know.
- 1:26:49Speaker 2: Whereas, again, the prequels, of course, the 4, 5, and 6,
- 1:26:54Speaker 2: he didn't know where he was going with this stuff,
- 1:26:56Speaker 2: contrary to what he says. And in 1, 2, and 3,
- 1:26:58Speaker 2: it was just all so structured. But I like the
- 1:27:02Speaker 2: visceralness of 7, 8, and 9 with the fights and
- 1:27:06Speaker 2: the stuff. And you could sort of reckon it as
- 1:27:09Speaker 2: these are untrained people who are learning things on their own,
- 1:27:12Speaker 2: so they're not constrained by the training. Rules of sword fighting.
- 1:27:17Speaker 3: Yeah, the only thing that doesn't make sense, specifically, and again,
- 1:27:21Speaker 3: it's the argument of what order you watch them in,
- 1:27:22Speaker 3: but if you watch 1, 2, and 3, and then
- 1:27:24Speaker 3: go to 4, these old men are the most boring
- 1:27:29Speaker 3: fight I've ever seen. They're like flipping around and doing
- 1:27:32Speaker 3: stuff in the prequels, and these guys are just like...
- 1:27:35Speaker 3: In Ben's defense, he hasn't been in a lightsaber battle
- 1:27:37Speaker 3: in 20 years.
- 1:27:39Speaker 2: In Vader's defense, he doesn't really need to.
- 1:27:42Speaker 3: That's kind of true across the board in this whole universe.
- 1:27:46Speaker 3: If you're not going back in time when there were
- 1:27:48Speaker 3: all these Jedi, but I'm like, that's another one of
- 1:27:50Speaker 3: those things I hadn't thought about is when we get
- 1:27:52Speaker 3: to Kylo in the first movie there, and he's having
- 1:27:56Speaker 3: a lightsaber battle at the end of the movie, it's
- 1:27:58Speaker 3: probably the first time he'd ever had. There were no
- 1:28:00Speaker 3: other Jedi. They were all dead. So I guess maybe
- 1:28:04Speaker 3: he made the Knights of Ren get those cool sticks
- 1:28:07Speaker 3: and hit them with them or practice.
- 1:28:08Speaker 2: Well, he obviously got some training in the academy.
- 1:28:11Speaker 3: I guess. But for the most part, there weren't any.
- 1:28:17Speaker 3: By the time he turned evil, particularly, there's nobody to
- 1:28:19Speaker 3: fight with. So it probably was a little bit like, finally,
- 1:28:23Speaker 3: I get to use this thing. So mentioning that, what
- 1:28:28Speaker 3: do you think? That's another one of those of like,
- 1:28:30Speaker 3: I'm picking up the movie that I started moments The
- 1:28:33Speaker 3: fact that we magically have the Knights of Ren back,
- 1:28:36Speaker 3: who completely disappeared last movie. Yeah. What? Well, I figure
- 1:28:42Speaker 3: that was the fans. It's JJ being like, no, I
- 1:28:44Speaker 3: wrote this. I like this part. Yeah.
- 1:28:47Speaker 9: And then I kind of liked how they were like, hey,
- 1:28:49Speaker 9: it's the Knights of Ren.
- 1:28:49Speaker 3: Cool.
- 1:28:50Speaker 2: Well, the other people were visually scared.
- 1:28:54Speaker 3: Like, what are these ghouls doing here?
- 1:28:56Speaker 2: I kind of like that. Like, these guys have a.
- 1:28:58Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:28:58Speaker 2: Have a... A.
- 1:29:02Speaker 3: Reputation.
- 1:29:02Speaker 2: They have a reputation that these are the freaks that
- 1:29:06Speaker 2: get called out when shit needs to get done.
- 1:29:09Speaker 9: As the movie's going along, I'm sitting there thinking about
- 1:29:12Speaker 9: the Knights of Ren and how obviously they're badass because
- 1:29:16Speaker 9: they were trained by him, but then I really start
- 1:29:18Speaker 9: to think about it. It's like, they're probably super badass
- 1:29:21Speaker 9: because they probably had to kill other guys who were
- 1:29:24Speaker 9: training to be knights to get to that level.
- 1:29:26Speaker 3: Is it in the canon to.
- 1:29:30Speaker 2: Did Kylo Ren make them and train them?
- 1:29:33Speaker 3: See, I thought I'd heard it was the other way. That, like,
- 1:29:36Speaker 3: it was a pre-existing thing and he, like, the arrogant
- 1:29:40Speaker 3: bastard that he is, named himself Ren when he turned.
- 1:29:43Speaker 9: So he's named after Ren.
- 1:29:45Speaker 2: I sort of figured, like, you know, just like it's
- 1:29:47Speaker 2: Darth whatever, that maybe the Knights of Ren and then
- 1:29:52Speaker 2: you join it and you become Johnny Ren. Philip Ren.
- 1:29:56Speaker 3: I like that.
- 1:29:57Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:29:58Speaker 3: But I don't know if that's been told yet. I'm
- 1:30:01Speaker 3: not standing behind that. I just heard that thrown out
- 1:30:03Speaker 3: there that he gave himself that name when he turned.
- 1:30:05Speaker 3: Could be. Because it already existed. It made it look
- 1:30:08Speaker 3: like no matter what, they were following him.
- 1:30:10Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 1:30:11Speaker 9: Which is why I was kind of hoping that at
- 1:30:12Speaker 9: least one of those guys would be like, I'm loyal
- 1:30:16Speaker 9: to you, so whichever way you're going, that's how I'm going.
- 1:30:19Speaker 3: Yeah. Which is why I think, I mean, it's weird
- 1:30:21Speaker 3: when they show up at the beginning because it's like, oh,
- 1:30:23Speaker 3: I guess they're just back. But it's even weirder by
- 1:30:25Speaker 3: the end when they immediately want to fight him. And
- 1:30:28Speaker 3: I'm like, why are you, you don't even know that
- 1:30:30Speaker 3: he's turned, do you? Like they just, as soon as
- 1:30:33Speaker 3: he comes in, they're all ready to take him out.
- 1:30:36Speaker 3: And I'm like, is it? He not only on your side,
- 1:30:38Speaker 3: but your leader?
- 1:30:39Speaker 2: I think the force keeps a roster.
- 1:30:41Speaker 3: I guess.
- 1:30:42Speaker 2: And everyone kind of knows.
- 1:30:43Speaker 3: We just lost one. That's your answer for everything. We
- 1:30:46Speaker 3: just lost one. Damn it. All right. Got to kill
- 1:30:49Speaker 3: him next time we see him, guys. It's got to
- 1:30:51Speaker 3: be balanced.
- 1:30:51Speaker 2: Now it's 97. Who changed? Must have been them.
- 1:30:54Speaker 3: I just got an alert on my phone, guys. We
- 1:30:56Speaker 3: lost a Sith. Next time you see that guy, just
- 1:30:59Speaker 3: kill him. Just go ahead.
- 1:31:02Speaker 7: Why couldn't he power of suggestion them into being like,
- 1:31:05Speaker 7: I'm still the boss, you know?
- 1:31:06Speaker 3: You want to follow me and go kick that old
- 1:31:08Speaker 3: guy's ass over there. I was curious about that, too.
- 1:31:11Speaker 9: Were they trained in the ways of the Force, but
- 1:31:14Speaker 9: not necessarily Sith, like Jedi or.
- 1:31:17Speaker 3: And I'd even heard that they were the other guys
- 1:31:20Speaker 3: that left with him when the whole Luke fight happened.
- 1:31:24Speaker 3: They killed all the other ones except for these five guys,
- 1:31:28Speaker 3: and then they became the Knights of Ren and went off.
- 1:31:30Speaker 3: But again, I've heard so many different variations on this
- 1:31:33Speaker 3: story that I don't know. At this point, just make
- 1:31:36Speaker 3: up your favorite part. Don't worry, there'll be a novel. Oh, there's, again,
- 1:31:42Speaker 3: several out there, I'm sure. So I was trying to
- 1:31:45Speaker 3: hit the other things... 3PO still just amuses the hell
- 1:31:51Speaker 3: out of me yeah he really I'm sorry like his
- 1:31:54Speaker 3: delivery is so damn funny I know sometimes and the
- 1:31:58Speaker 3: more I was sitting there I'm like is it weird
- 1:32:01Speaker 3: that the person who used him the worst is George
- 1:32:04Speaker 3: Lucas because I feel like he's pretty funny in the
- 1:32:07Speaker 3: first three movies but again you're handing it off by
- 1:32:10Speaker 3: the second one so like his better moments in Empire
- 1:32:13Speaker 3: are a different director by then anyway The time that
- 1:32:16Speaker 3: he's the most hammy and ridiculous and cartoony is in
- 1:32:19Speaker 3: the prequels. And that's all Lucas. And then you give
- 1:32:23Speaker 3: him to, like, J.J. in even the last movie. I'm
- 1:32:25Speaker 3: just like, he's really funny. Like, I feel like other
- 1:32:28Speaker 3: people know how to make use of creepy.
- 1:32:30Speaker 2: He's the straight man. I mean, he's the one that,
- 1:32:33Speaker 2: you know. But in the prequels, I mean, he was just.
- 1:32:39Speaker 3: He's a cartoon.
- 1:32:40Speaker 2: It was too funny.
- 1:32:41Speaker 3: Yeah. You know.
- 1:32:43Speaker 2: And it needs to not be overused.
- 1:32:46Speaker 9: Well, in this movie, when he sacrifices himself, that was
- 1:32:51Speaker 9: the other moment where I was like.
- 1:32:53Speaker 3: And I think I was more upset by.
- 1:32:56Speaker 9: Felt genuine emotion toward that than I did when I
- 1:32:58Speaker 9: thought Chewbacca was dead. Because I was like, he's been
- 1:33:01Speaker 9: through all of this. He is key to where they are.
- 1:33:05Speaker 9: And he's just going to say goodbye to everybody.
- 1:33:08Speaker 13: Yeah.
- 1:33:08Speaker 3: And including us, you know. I do feel like it was, again,
- 1:33:12Speaker 3: a cheat that immediately, 20 minutes later, he magically has
- 1:33:16Speaker 3: his full memory back and everything's cool again. I was like, eh. Yeah,
- 1:33:19Speaker 3: but I like.
- 1:33:19Speaker 9: How they're like, well, doesn't R2 have a backup of
- 1:33:22Speaker 9: your memory?
- 1:33:23Speaker 3: And he's like, I wouldn't. Well, I mean, that's the thing.
- 1:33:25Speaker 3: They made a big deal out of it in this
- 1:33:27Speaker 3: movie of wiping his memory. I was like, well, he's
- 1:33:29Speaker 3: already had it happen once in these movies. Like the
- 1:33:31Speaker 3: only one that really has been there the whole time
- 1:33:33Speaker 3: and remembers everything is R2. Like R2' s been there every
- 1:33:36Speaker 3: step of the way. Which is really the other thing
- 1:33:39Speaker 3: that kind of annoys me in these movies is he
- 1:33:41Speaker 3: is totally sidelined. Yeah. Like, R2 has completely been replaced
- 1:33:45Speaker 3: by BB-8. And, like, he was asleep the whole first movie.
- 1:33:49Speaker 3: And then this movie, it's like, you stay here with Leia.
- 1:33:52Speaker 3: You know that chick that's gonna die? You hang out
- 1:33:54Speaker 3: here with her. And then who's rolling next to him
- 1:33:57Speaker 3: the whole time is BB-8. He's just totally been replaced.
- 1:33:59Speaker 2: How do you feel about, was it Dio?
- 1:34:01Speaker 3: Dio. I like Dio. Awesome name. Like, it's fun.
- 1:34:04Speaker 2: I did, but.
- 1:34:06Speaker 3: I felt like they could have used him a little more.
- 1:34:08Speaker 2: I mean, he basically said, sad.
- 1:34:09Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:34:10Speaker 7: Happy.
- 1:34:11Speaker 3: I like that we get a droid that speaks. No,
- 1:34:12Speaker 3: thank you. That's not, you know, 3PO. Like, everybody else
- 1:34:15Speaker 3: just makes beeps. It was kind of fun. I mean, no,
- 1:34:17Speaker 3: you're wrong.
- 1:34:17Speaker 2: Cute as hell.
- 1:34:18Speaker 3: And I liked it.
- 1:34:19Speaker 2: But it was also sort of, well, let's jam another thing.
- 1:34:22Speaker 3: Another cute robot in there.
- 1:34:23Speaker 9: Well, I feel like of all the droids that look like,
- 1:34:27Speaker 9: garbage that somebody put together this guy really.
- 1:34:30Speaker 7: The most he looked like he came out of the
- 1:34:32Speaker 7: brave little poster yeah well it's like somebody take a
- 1:34:35Speaker 7: flower pot we'll get one of those mutes they stick
- 1:34:37Speaker 7: in a.
- 1:34:37Speaker 3: Trumpet here's the thing here's the thing that's awesome because
- 1:34:41Speaker 3: i saw it yesterday after i left the movie in
- 1:34:44Speaker 3: the store there's already a lamp that is and i'm
- 1:34:48Speaker 3: like well his head is a lamp i mean like
- 1:34:49Speaker 3: yeah they just took the little pixar robot and like
- 1:34:53Speaker 3: Here he is. So you can now go buy one
- 1:34:55Speaker 3: that looks, I mean, it's almost the exact right size.
- 1:34:59Speaker 3: I'm like, well, shit, now I'm going to have to
- 1:35:00Speaker 3: buy this lamp because it looks like a robot.
- 1:35:02Speaker 7: I like that a droid that has boundaries.
- 1:35:05Speaker 2: No, thank you. No.
- 1:35:06Speaker 3: Well, I do like from the beginning, he's like, please
- 1:35:08Speaker 3: stay away. I'm like, ah, issues. I like this. This
- 1:35:12Speaker 3: robot's got backstories.
- 1:35:14Speaker 9: I don't think this droid was treated very well. I'm like, oh,
- 1:35:16Speaker 9: I got to feel guilty about.
- 1:35:18Speaker 3: A droid being abused. Stop slapping yourself around, damn it.
- 1:35:26Speaker 3: But that was a little moment of like that is
- 1:35:28Speaker 3: sort of a theme running through at least this movie. Again,
- 1:35:31Speaker 3: I don't think anybody plans ahead enough to be more
- 1:35:33Speaker 3: than that. But that like giving yourself for somebody else,
- 1:35:38Speaker 3: that transferring power literally and figuratively, because you also get
- 1:35:42Speaker 3: that with BB-8. Because Dio had been down since she
- 1:35:45Speaker 3: got kidnapped, I guess. And within a second, he like
- 1:35:49Speaker 3: converts power and like totally powers him up again and
- 1:35:52Speaker 3: like brings him back to life. which is what we
- 1:35:54Speaker 3: see later, but is even like the 3PO sacrificing himself
- 1:35:57Speaker 3: to save everybody else. Like it's kind of a little
- 1:35:59Speaker 3: running theme. If there's much going on that's a running
- 1:36:02Speaker 3: theme in this movie, that was sort of like an
- 1:36:04Speaker 3: underlying thing that they keep returning to is like, I'm
- 1:36:07Speaker 3: going to give my life force for you, even if
- 1:36:11Speaker 3: you're a big weird serpent in the cave.
- 1:36:13Speaker 7: I thought that Samorin was going to come back out
- 1:36:17Speaker 7: at some point and help Rey.
- 1:36:18Speaker 3: Yeah. Like go home.
- 1:36:21Speaker 7: It's like a big, powerful, scary sandworm.
- 1:36:23Speaker 3: The giant snake thing. On 3PO, did anybody else think
- 1:36:26Speaker 3: he looked weird in this movie?
- 1:36:28Speaker 2: The chest looked weird.
- 1:36:29Speaker 3: Something was just off.
- 1:36:31Speaker 2: Like it was literally the guy in a costume with
- 1:36:33Speaker 2: a black undershirt and he put some wires across it.
- 1:36:36Speaker 2: Like it didn't look.
- 1:36:36Speaker 3: Yeah, it kind of always looked weird. There are times
- 1:36:39Speaker 3: when I'm like, that definitely looks like... Well, since I've
- 1:36:41Speaker 3: gone to Blu-ray, you can definitely tell.
- 1:36:43Speaker 17: Oh, I think.
- 1:36:44Speaker 9: Yeah, that's just some loose wires.
- 1:36:47Speaker 2: You've seen a drag queen in HD.
- 1:36:51Speaker 3: It's also, I mean, you know, dude's getting to be
- 1:36:53Speaker 3: an old man now. There's probably only so long he
- 1:36:56Speaker 3: can cram. I mean, they're still crediting him, so I
- 1:36:59Speaker 3: don't know if they've... I thought I'd heard he's got
- 1:37:02Speaker 3: somebody doing some of the physical stuff. He was the
- 1:37:04Speaker 3: only one... Yeah, he was the only one in the credits,
- 1:37:06Speaker 3: but I mean... I'm sure they've got a second unit
- 1:37:09Speaker 3: guy that does some of the stuff.
- 1:37:11Speaker 9: I did like when his eyes turned red when he
- 1:37:14Speaker 9: was creepy.
- 1:37:15Speaker 3: Because I was like, is he going to murder everybody now?
- 1:37:18Speaker 3: That would be.
- 1:37:18Speaker 2: Well, that was when the commercial dropped that showed that
- 1:37:22Speaker 2: there's a whole comic book series of Dr. Aphra and
- 1:37:25Speaker 2: she's got two killer bots. One that's a black sea
- 1:37:29Speaker 2: thief girl with red eyes that just loves.
- 1:37:31Speaker 3: To murder everybody.
- 1:37:32Speaker 2: And everyone's like, holy shit, it's the murder bot.
- 1:37:35Speaker 9: Because the thought to me of, oh, they've reprogrammed Or
- 1:37:38Speaker 9: just reading this has reprogrammed C-3PO and now he's evil.
- 1:37:43Speaker 9: I'm like, man, that's a whole other story that we
- 1:37:46Speaker 9: could explore.
- 1:37:47Speaker 3: If this was a movie that was taking those kind
- 1:37:49Speaker 3: of chances, that would be cool.
- 1:37:51Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 1:37:51Speaker 3: We know that it's not this movie. This movie plays
- 1:37:53Speaker 3: it as safe as you can get on each of
- 1:37:56Speaker 3: these beats. But that would be a cool... I mean, again,
- 1:38:00Speaker 3: if you're going to like the off and... chewy kind
- 1:38:03Speaker 3: of thing if you're going to take our beloved 3po
- 1:38:06Speaker 3: who's been in every movie with us and by the
- 1:38:08Speaker 3: end make him evil and like they have to like
- 1:38:10Speaker 3: destroy him to keep him from killing everybody in the
- 1:38:12Speaker 3: room like that's a hell of a way to go out.
- 1:38:14Speaker 9: Because at that point in the movie they're talking he's
- 1:38:16Speaker 9: talking about how well yeah we as droids we can't
- 1:38:19Speaker 9: translate this i'm thinking okay that's a good way to
- 1:38:22Speaker 9: keep the synth information from spreading but then when his
- 1:38:26Speaker 9: eyes turned red i'm like no they're trying to keep
- 1:38:27Speaker 9: droids who they don't really trust in the universe anyway
- 1:38:31Speaker 9: they're trying to keep them from becoming evil and that's
- 1:38:34Speaker 9: a whole other concept.
- 1:38:37Speaker 3: It is weird that he can decode it but he's
- 1:38:40Speaker 3: not allowed to tell you about it like why wouldn't
- 1:38:42Speaker 3: you just.
- 1:38:42Speaker 11: Not let him decode that like program him that way
- 1:38:45Speaker 11: why didn't he just write it down But is it
- 1:38:48Speaker 11: almost because we really don't get into a lot of
- 1:38:51Speaker 11: the is that as close as we get to like.
- 1:38:53Speaker 3: An Asimov rules for robots kind of thing in the
- 1:38:56Speaker 3: Star Wars? Usually there are no rules in the Star
- 1:38:58Speaker 3: Wars universe, but like that's as close as we get to. Oh,
- 1:39:02Speaker 3: my programming won't allow me to do this, which is
- 1:39:04Speaker 3: going to harm humans.
- 1:39:05Speaker 2: What I'm guessing that since he was made in the
- 1:39:08Speaker 2: core systems that maybe that's in there and he was.
- 1:39:13Speaker 2: You could make your own robot that can do fuck
- 1:39:15Speaker 2: all with whatever language.
- 1:39:17Speaker 3: What if he was made by a Sith Lord? Huh.
- 1:39:20Speaker 3: Wait a minute. Wasn't he? Conveniently, wasn't he?
- 1:39:26Speaker 9: Not just a slave child with no education in anything.
- 1:39:30Speaker 3: But one that would grow up to kill many people.
- 1:39:36Speaker 2: What I always thought it was, you know, Vader's got
- 1:39:38Speaker 2: to remember that he made that And on four, five, six,
- 1:39:42Speaker 2: he's like, holy crap, it's C-3PO. What's he doing there?
- 1:39:46Speaker 3: Again, I was thinking that like in the. Never once
- 1:39:49Speaker 3: does he high five C-3PO. Or Pat R2-D2 on the dome.
- 1:39:54Speaker 3: Remember when we used to hang out? We were in
- 1:39:56Speaker 3: the back of my ship for like two movies, dude.
- 1:39:59Speaker 2: So what are the droids we're looking for? Wait a minute.
- 1:40:01Speaker 3: I know both of these guys. What are the odds
- 1:40:03Speaker 3: of that? I built that one shit. He really should
- 1:40:08Speaker 3: be in the Bespin room in the middle of the
- 1:40:11Speaker 3: drama going, 3PO?
- 1:40:14Speaker 9: Yeah, everybody questions why Ben never picked up on, because.
- 1:40:17Speaker 3: Ben even says, I don't remember owning a droid. And
- 1:40:19Speaker 3: it's like, well, clearly you've known these two guys for
- 1:40:22Speaker 3: 30 years. No one ever says, why doesn't Vader go, hey.
- 1:40:26Speaker 3: I do like there was the, again, geek theories are
- 1:40:28Speaker 3: my favorite, that at the moment when Boba Fett goes
- 1:40:32Speaker 3: to blast and he stops him, it's because he didn't
- 1:40:35Speaker 3: want 3PO to get hit. Nice. Secretly, he was like,
- 1:40:38Speaker 3: that's my droid. Gotta take care of that guy.
- 1:40:41Speaker 6: That's my boy.
- 1:40:41Speaker 3: That's my booze. I made you.
- 1:40:43Speaker 15: How you doing, kid?
- 1:40:45Speaker 2: If anyone's gonna kill my booze, it's gonna be me.
- 1:40:47Speaker 3: It's gonna be me, and I'll melt him down like
- 1:40:49Speaker 3: I do.
- 1:40:51Speaker 10: Alright.
- 1:40:53Speaker 3: General Hux. I like him going out like the weasel
- 1:40:56Speaker 3: that he was. Yeah. It is weird to be as
- 1:40:59Speaker 3: demoted as he was, because he was back to being
- 1:41:02Speaker 3: just a dude sitting around the table in this movie.
- 1:41:05Speaker 2: But.
- 1:41:06Speaker 3: I do. Again, I like that he's the spy. He's
- 1:41:09Speaker 3: stabbing Kylo in the back once again.
- 1:41:11Speaker 9: I love that he literally says, I don't care if
- 1:41:13Speaker 9: you guys win. I just don't want Kylo Ren.
- 1:41:15Speaker 3: I just don't like that Kylo guy.
- 1:41:17Speaker 7: I love that he got shot in the leg to
- 1:41:21Speaker 7: keep up appearances and then still got shot.
- 1:41:23Speaker 3: Immediately, that guy's like, you are the fucking traitor.
- 1:41:26Speaker 2: And I like that the other guy, if only he
- 1:41:29Speaker 2: could have been in 4, 5, and 6 as a
- 1:41:31Speaker 2: background general.
- 1:41:32Speaker 3: I was kind of wondering, could they not find a
- 1:41:35Speaker 3: weird old British actor?
- 1:41:36Speaker 2: Yeah, because... i serve you now as anybody like yeah
- 1:41:40Speaker 2: that's deep instead they found a recognizable act right but
- 1:41:43Speaker 2: like it would have been cool to go back and
- 1:41:44Speaker 2: find one of those guys it's.
- 1:41:46Speaker 3: Probably doing conventions somewhere could use the money and be
- 1:41:49Speaker 3: like dude make him the guy in charge now.
- 1:41:51Speaker 9: But i also like when they're sitting around the table
- 1:41:53Speaker 9: and kylo ren's like well here's the plan with the
- 1:41:55Speaker 9: emperor and the one guy's like wait what's he want
- 1:41:57Speaker 9: in return and because i was thinking that too and
- 1:42:00Speaker 9: then kylo ren's just like no you die.
- 1:42:02Speaker 3: Now Well, again, it's like the feel of the old one,
- 1:42:05Speaker 3: but they've got to one-up it. Instead of just choking you,
- 1:42:07Speaker 3: why don't I throw you into the ceiling? Because I'm
- 1:42:10Speaker 3: a little extreme compared to Vader.
- 1:42:12Speaker 2: But that's why chaotic evil always fails, because your underlings
- 1:42:17Speaker 2: ask a completely legitimate question. To the success of your
- 1:42:22Speaker 2: overall organization and you just choke him out and kill him.
- 1:42:25Speaker 9: It's like this old dude is not just going to
- 1:42:27Speaker 9: give us these ships for shits and giggles.
- 1:42:29Speaker 3: Yeah, there's got to be a prize for that. What
- 1:42:30Speaker 3: do we owe him? Don't you ask that.
- 1:42:33Speaker 9: I like that they were like, no, we totally are
- 1:42:36Speaker 9: comfortable with your helmet.
- 1:42:39Speaker 7: Vader, Coke or Pepsi? Poor Kylo Renpuk.
- 1:42:44Speaker 3: Kylo's got the cool red pinstriping action going on there.
- 1:42:47Speaker 3: It's all good. But again, that's another one of those
- 1:42:49Speaker 3: things of like, No, I put him with the helmet on.
- 1:42:53Speaker 3: Damn it. Don't take his helmet off that whole last movie.
- 1:42:55Speaker 3: I'm putting it back on. I'm giving it some stripes.
- 1:42:59Speaker 3: It just seems so petty. The stripes. Oh, yeah. All
- 1:43:03Speaker 3: this JJ of like.
- 1:43:05Speaker 7: It looked like a hockey goalie's helmet. How they like
- 1:43:09Speaker 7: spray paint it and like try to make it look
- 1:43:10Speaker 7: all cool.
- 1:43:11Speaker 3: Well, yeah.
- 1:43:12Speaker 2: He's trying to be cool. Racing stripes or flames.
- 1:43:14Speaker 3: He's trying to be cool.
- 1:43:17Speaker 2: And then, again, I forget the guy's name, the hobbit, says, well,
- 1:43:22Speaker 2: why don't we do another holdover maneuver?
- 1:43:25Speaker 3: That's a one in a million thing.
- 1:43:26Speaker 2: I'm like, oh, Jesus Christ.
- 1:43:28Speaker 12: Damn it.
- 1:43:30Speaker 3: You know, it's just.
- 1:43:32Speaker 2: That line did not need to be in that movie
- 1:43:35Speaker 2: delivered by that character.
- 1:43:36Speaker 7: That character didn't need to be in that movie. I
- 1:43:38Speaker 7: was just like, what are you doing? All you're doing
- 1:43:41Speaker 7: is taking me out of this movie. That's your only
- 1:43:44Speaker 7: purpose here.
- 1:43:45Speaker 3: I think it's just because he seemed like he noticed
- 1:43:48Speaker 3: the camera more than everyone else. Every time, wasn't he
- 1:43:50Speaker 3: kind of looking at it? Hey guys, remember me? I
- 1:43:53Speaker 3: was in that other movie.
- 1:43:54Speaker 9: I think every project he's in, he's like, that's right,
- 1:43:57Speaker 9: I get to do this for a living. cool but
- 1:44:00Speaker 9: uh yeah i didn't even think of him as the
- 1:44:02Speaker 9: hobbit guy i thought it was the guy from lost
- 1:44:04Speaker 9: yeah that's what i thought of him from okay it's
- 1:44:06Speaker 9: a guy from lost it's adorable.
- 1:44:07Speaker 3: That's half of the cast.
- 1:44:09Speaker 9: In this no i'm not paying attention anymore shit.
- 1:44:12Speaker 3: As long as we kill snap i was so glad
- 1:44:16Speaker 3: he died he just uh i don't know which one
- 1:44:19Speaker 3: was that the greg what's his face the other guy
- 1:44:23Speaker 3: from lost or no the The one that's best friends
- 1:44:25Speaker 3: with JJ. He's in everything. He's in everything. Yeah, but
- 1:44:28Speaker 3: which character was he in? The heavy set rebel guy?
- 1:44:31Speaker 9: I didn't know that.
- 1:44:32Speaker 2: With dark hair?
- 1:44:34Speaker 3: I wanted him to be a little less annoying. Well,
- 1:44:36Speaker 3: and that's the other thing. I think there's been some
- 1:44:38Speaker 3: weird side story that the whole reason they get found
- 1:44:40Speaker 3: out in that first one is that he was on
- 1:44:42Speaker 3: a mission and they traced him back to where the
- 1:44:45Speaker 3: rebels were. Or their rebellion or whatever they are at
- 1:44:48Speaker 3: this point. So yeah, he's the reason they got busted
- 1:44:51Speaker 3: early on. So now I'm like, why is this guy
- 1:44:53Speaker 3: hanging around?
- 1:44:54Speaker 2: Now, the one cameo I did like was Wedge Antilles
- 1:44:58Speaker 2: at the very end.
- 1:44:59Speaker 3: I'm like, nice. Especially because I thought he didn't want anything.
- 1:45:03Speaker 3: I thought the actor himself was like, no thanks, I'm done.
- 1:45:07Speaker 3: So it's interesting that they lured him back in.
- 1:45:10Speaker 2: This is the last ride. The celebration movie where everyone
- 1:45:18Speaker 2: comes back.
- 1:45:18Speaker 3: I like Billy Dee.
- 1:45:23Speaker 9: As people were turning they were just gonna shove him
- 1:45:26Speaker 9: in there but the first scene that he's in I'm
- 1:45:28Speaker 9: like okay this sounds reasonable.
- 1:45:31Speaker 3: I do like that whole like them showing up there
- 1:45:34Speaker 3: just at the time that it's having this weird festival
- 1:45:37Speaker 3: this is another time when I'm like cause they're doing
- 1:45:39Speaker 3: like the whole production there and like people are like
- 1:45:42Speaker 3: dancing around I'm like thank god this isn't Lucas Ron
- 1:45:45Speaker 3: cause you know there'd be a musical number right here
- 1:45:47Speaker 3: yes and like it was so low key and like
- 1:45:50Speaker 3: it is another one of those moments. This is one
- 1:45:52Speaker 3: of the like running things that's really cool with, with
- 1:45:55Speaker 3: Ray's character is she's still in awe of so much
- 1:45:59Speaker 3: of this universe that like she lived on this planet
- 1:46:02Speaker 3: in the middle of a wreckage and like scrapping. And like,
- 1:46:06Speaker 3: so that every time she gets somewhere new, she's like, Whoa,
- 1:46:10Speaker 3: like trees, water, like everything is just amazing to her.
- 1:46:14Speaker 3: Like she gets in the middle of this festival and like,
- 1:46:17Speaker 3: You can tell. Again, this is just solid acting of
- 1:46:19Speaker 3: the fact that she has never experienced anything like this
- 1:46:23Speaker 3: in her life. Where everybody else is just like, I've
- 1:46:26Speaker 3: got to walk through all these people. Poe and Finn,
- 1:46:28Speaker 3: they've traveled their whole lives, probably. Yeah, certainly Poe. Finn
- 1:46:33Speaker 3: still seems like he's fish out of water until they
- 1:46:35Speaker 3: need him not to be. Where this movie, he's gotten
- 1:46:37Speaker 3: over all of that. Even as a stormtrooper, though, he
- 1:46:39Speaker 3: was out traveling in space. But yeah, you can definitely
- 1:46:42Speaker 3: see that. Well, he used to mop the.
- 1:46:46Speaker 2: but yeah I mean I don't.
- 1:46:51Speaker 3: Know we've not really addressed a lot of Rey stuff
- 1:46:54Speaker 3: so what is your take on her as a whole
- 1:46:57Speaker 3: in this movie I guess and all of it because
- 1:47:00Speaker 3: I like that we come in with her training I
- 1:47:02Speaker 3: do like that again she's not just magically oh look
- 1:47:06Speaker 3: now I have all these powers like she really has
- 1:47:08Speaker 3: been again like Kylo she's been kind of pushing the
- 1:47:12Speaker 3: envelope like what can I do Because when you see
- 1:47:14Speaker 3: her put the blast helmet on, again, a nod to
- 1:47:17Speaker 3: our fourth movie, but her doing it kind of puts
- 1:47:20Speaker 3: Luke to shame as she's blindfolded, crossing a log, and
- 1:47:25Speaker 3: catching the blast in the middle of it. I'm like, yeah,
- 1:47:28Speaker 3: she's kind of a badass.
- 1:47:29Speaker 2: Well, and wasn't Kylo controlling it during part of it
- 1:47:34Speaker 2: to where it kept shooting her like she was missing
- 1:47:37Speaker 2: because I think he was interfering?
- 1:47:39Speaker 3: Well, he was, yeah, at least distracting her enough that
- 1:47:42Speaker 3: she was not focusing and getting blasted the whole.
- 1:47:44Speaker 2: Time there's no limits to force powers they extend everywhere.
- 1:47:49Speaker 14: Even with the blast it's like superman if you ride
- 1:47:54Speaker 14: him into a corner you're just like oh by the
- 1:47:55Speaker 14: way he can do this guess what else.
- 1:47:57Speaker 2: He can do i mean honestly i think that the
- 1:48:00Speaker 2: the ray and the kylo arcs were probably the most
- 1:48:02Speaker 2: solid throughout the whole thing you.
- 1:48:04Speaker 3: Know And again, they have the most screen time they
- 1:48:07Speaker 3: really need to be to even make this work at all.
- 1:48:10Speaker 2: So, you know, and again, I was actually happy with
- 1:48:13Speaker 2: her being no one. because I think that makes the
- 1:48:16Speaker 2: force more expansive and everywhere yeah but the but the
- 1:48:20Speaker 2: change at the end I'm like I'm still okay with
- 1:48:23Speaker 2: that the.
- 1:48:23Speaker 3: Change at the end at least like again it's almost
- 1:48:26Speaker 3: like telling fanboys to shut up it's like how come
- 1:48:29Speaker 3: she's so magically powerful I'm like well she's the emperor's
- 1:48:32Speaker 3: daughter how about that how about the most powerful person
- 1:48:34Speaker 3: in the entire galaxy is her grandfather so you know
- 1:48:38Speaker 3: whatever like.
- 1:48:40Speaker 7: But then, like, even with making her a Palpatine, they
- 1:48:42Speaker 7: kept insinuating that Finn was very Force-sensitive and said, oh,
- 1:48:46Speaker 7: I've got a feeling, you know, like, and just, like,
- 1:48:50Speaker 7: little things sprinkled in there that he was Force-sensitive.
- 1:48:53Speaker 3: Especially at the end there.
- 1:48:53Speaker 7: So it kind of, like, did still have the, okay,
- 1:48:55Speaker 7: so the Force is still open to everybody, even if
- 1:48:58Speaker 7: she is a Palpatine.
- 1:48:59Speaker 3: Yeah. Because he did have that moment, and I was like,
- 1:49:02Speaker 3: are we going somewhere with this down the line? How
- 1:49:06Speaker 3: about the Leia's lightsaber aspect of it?
- 1:49:09Speaker 2: I thought that was a little weird. That training scene
- 1:49:13Speaker 2: I thought was a little weird.
- 1:49:14Speaker 3: Well, I guess we need it. Cause I wondered that
- 1:49:17Speaker 3: all along. I'm like, once she realized, okay, I am,
- 1:49:21Speaker 3: I am, I at least open to these Jedi powers.
- 1:49:24Speaker 3: I often wondered like, did she start training? Did she
- 1:49:28Speaker 3: do that? Yeah. And then by the time we get
- 1:49:31Speaker 3: to her as general Leia, it's like, why wasn't she like,
- 1:49:34Speaker 3: she's definitely force sensitive still. But she's not massively using
- 1:49:38Speaker 3: the Force to do things like all the other Jedi
- 1:49:41Speaker 3: seem to do. So it was one of those weird things,
- 1:49:44Speaker 3: and this at least gives us an answer. It's a
- 1:49:47Speaker 3: convenient answer, but it's an answer.
- 1:49:48Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:49:49Speaker 3: Sometimes, though, that's okay. Yeah. Because they didn't dwell on it.
- 1:49:52Speaker 3: They were just like, oh, here you go.
- 1:49:54Speaker 9: And I also got the feeling, too, because she was
- 1:49:57Speaker 9: talking about how she foresaw... her own son's death i
- 1:50:01Speaker 9: felt like that was her way of saying i don't
- 1:50:03Speaker 9: want anything to.
- 1:50:03Speaker 14: Do with this force nonsense and pretty true of the
- 1:50:06Speaker 14: force as we know it it gives them weird visions
- 1:50:08Speaker 14: of the future and of their loved ones and whatever
- 1:50:11Speaker 14: so like that that's not that out of.
- 1:50:13Speaker 7: The realm maybe i mean this could be completely just
- 1:50:16Speaker 7: like a random theory but that leia like using the
- 1:50:22Speaker 7: force to like it takes like life from her like
- 1:50:26Speaker 7: if she's not like super reinforced like a palpatine like
- 1:50:30Speaker 7: it is the reason that she died was like reaching
- 1:50:32Speaker 7: out so like maybe that's why she doesn't use the
- 1:50:34Speaker 7: force so much is that she's just like this is
- 1:50:37Speaker 7: gonna i'm taking.
- 1:50:38Speaker 9: His toll yeah i felt like that was a good
- 1:50:40Speaker 9: way too to end her character because i figured they're
- 1:50:42Speaker 9: gonna have to address that at some point with you
- 1:50:45Speaker 9: know carrie fisher not.
- 1:50:46Speaker 3: Kind of surprised it was as functional as it was
- 1:50:49Speaker 3: that first time yeah because i was just like because
- 1:50:52Speaker 3: they i think they didn't even use like the other
- 1:50:55Speaker 3: stuff that they shot in the last movie, they were
- 1:50:57Speaker 3: just pulling from weird archive stuff from that first movie,
- 1:51:01Speaker 3: I think. So the fact that it works as well
- 1:51:04Speaker 3: as it does, I'm like, that's kind of, I really impressed.
- 1:51:07Speaker 3: I do want, that's another one of those real world
- 1:51:09Speaker 3: questions where I'm like, what was the third movie going
- 1:51:12Speaker 3: to be? Because it was supposed to focus heavily on
- 1:51:15Speaker 3: the Leia part of it, because this was again, like
- 1:51:18Speaker 3: the first one's Han movie. The second one's Luke's movie.
- 1:51:21Speaker 3: This one was supposed to be built around her. And
- 1:51:24Speaker 3: then they couldn't do that. So like, I do kind
- 1:51:26Speaker 3: of wonder what was that story originally that focused so
- 1:51:29Speaker 3: much on her and did it again, did it tie
- 1:51:33Speaker 3: into her being more of the, cause I really do
- 1:51:36Speaker 3: like her training, especially knowing the story as it unfolds,
- 1:51:40Speaker 3: the fact that she's still training her, knowing that she's
- 1:51:43Speaker 3: Palpatine's daughter. Like that again is, is like one of
- 1:51:46Speaker 3: the few underlying themes going on that like you aren't
- 1:51:50Speaker 3: Your parents.
- 1:51:51Speaker 2: Right. You are your actions. You aren't your hereditary.
- 1:51:53Speaker 3: It's the same thing that Kylo's going through. Because look
- 1:51:56Speaker 3: at her, who her dad is. She is not her dad. Yeah.
- 1:52:00Speaker 3: Luke was certainly not their dad. Yeah. And the same
- 1:52:02Speaker 3: with Kylo. Like Kylo should have been the greatest person
- 1:52:05Speaker 3: and he turned really evil. So it's like, you aren't
- 1:52:09Speaker 3: your parents. You are your choices. You are your choices
- 1:52:12Speaker 3: that you make. So even Kylo's like, oh, you're right.
- 1:52:15Speaker 3: And then he kind of redeems himself with that thinking. So, Again,
- 1:52:19Speaker 3: I do like that it has some sort of underlying
- 1:52:23Speaker 3: good idea going on there. Your actions are who you are.
- 1:52:28Speaker 2: The thing I always find weird is when, and it's
- 1:52:31Speaker 2: sort of a real life pet peeve of mine, if
- 1:52:34Speaker 2: you know something, just tell the person. There's never a
- 1:52:37Speaker 2: convenient time to tell the person. And so I felt
- 1:52:42Speaker 2: like if Leah knew that she was a Palpatine, why
- 1:52:46Speaker 2: did she tell Finn? Why did he know that she was?
- 1:52:53Speaker 2: And I guess, did they hint that Luke knew too?
- 1:52:55Speaker 3: I thought they said Luke and Leia both knew. Which
- 1:52:58Speaker 3: I get them. I get them feeling it.
- 1:53:01Speaker 2: Even though if it's, I would have liked to, of course,
- 1:53:04Speaker 2: I would like to weird look from Luke at some
- 1:53:07Speaker 2: point in the second movie or whatnot. But why did
- 1:53:11Speaker 2: Finn know? And why was Finn going to? gonna tell
- 1:53:14Speaker 2: her that, oh, by the way, you're a granddaughter to
- 1:53:17Speaker 2: the most evil bastard.
- 1:53:18Speaker 3: In the universe. Was that what he kept trying to
- 1:53:20Speaker 3: tell her? I assume that's what it was. I didn't
- 1:53:23Speaker 3: read it that way. I thought he found that out
- 1:53:26Speaker 3: after that. Yeah, I thought that was more of his weird,
- 1:53:29Speaker 3: sappy love for her that he was gonna blurt it
- 1:53:32Speaker 3: out at the last moment.
- 1:53:33Speaker 7: There's no reason that if he thinks he's gonna die,
- 1:53:35Speaker 7: be like, hey, by the way, just to ruin your
- 1:53:39Speaker 7: last moments.
- 1:53:41Speaker 3: Whereas you would be like, I've always wanted to tell you,
- 1:53:44Speaker 3: I really love you. Like that is something you would
- 1:53:46Speaker 3: blurt out as the plane's going down, you know? I
- 1:53:49Speaker 3: put my finger in Poe's butt. You said you weren't
- 1:53:52Speaker 3: going to tell! Shut up or don't! It's a whole
- 1:53:56Speaker 3: nother fan fiction you just did.
- 1:53:57Speaker 9: But back to Leia though, I really liked the way
- 1:54:01Speaker 9: Chewie handled the scene.
- 1:54:04Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:54:04Speaker 9: When he found out because it's, yeah, this is his last,
- 1:54:07Speaker 9: friend for.
- 1:54:08Speaker 3: All these years that's what i felt like was more
- 1:54:10Speaker 3: than anything it's like it wasn't because i it is
- 1:54:13Speaker 3: i've heard many theories over the years that like chewy
- 1:54:15Speaker 3: and leah didn't really because like he's he's the he's
- 1:54:19Speaker 3: the loser guy that hangs out with your husband that's
- 1:54:22Speaker 3: always taking him out drinking and you're like he's the
- 1:54:24Speaker 3: reason i was a cow always crashing on the cows
- 1:54:27Speaker 3: clogging up the shower smells like a wet dog on
- 1:54:30Speaker 3: your sofa like yeah good day all these yeah all
- 1:54:33Speaker 3: these things that would make sense probably that she was
- 1:54:35Speaker 3: a little annoyed with him But it does make sense
- 1:54:38Speaker 3: that everything that Chewie's been through, this was the core
- 1:54:42Speaker 3: group of friends, and now they're all gone. He is
- 1:54:45Speaker 3: the only one in some droids. And Lando. Lando disappears
- 1:54:52Speaker 3: and wears his cool pimp outfit. That jacket at the
- 1:54:55Speaker 3: beginning was badass. Oh, yeah.
- 1:54:58Speaker 2: What about Chewie getting the medal at the end?
- 1:55:01Speaker 3: If ever there was fan service in this movie, that
- 1:55:05Speaker 3: is the most blatant, hammy... But, I mean, it worked.
- 1:55:09Speaker 3: I was just like, finally he gets a medal.
- 1:55:11Speaker 9: Well, what's funny about that is, because my wife does
- 1:55:15Speaker 9: not care for the original series.
- 1:55:17Speaker 3: She's seen each of the movies one time. She loves the...
- 1:55:21Speaker 3: She sort of loves the new series, loved Rogue One. Prequels?
- 1:55:25Speaker 3: Has she watched it?
- 1:55:26Speaker 2: No, no, no.
- 1:55:26Speaker 3: I'm talking about the... Well, no, I'm asking. What's her
- 1:55:28Speaker 3: thoughts on the prequels? I haven't shown her... You haven't
- 1:55:30Speaker 3: inflicted them on.
- 1:55:31Speaker 9: She saw about 15 minutes of, I think, whatever the
- 1:55:35Speaker 9: second one was.
- 1:55:35Speaker 3: Attack of the Clones?
- 1:55:36Speaker 4: Yes.
- 1:55:37Speaker 3: And she was like... She was like, why is the
- 1:55:40Speaker 3: acting in this so wooden? And I was... Thank you!
- 1:55:43Speaker 3: I blame George Lucas. Anyway. No, so they hand Chewie the...
- 1:55:49Speaker 3: Mask of the Desert. Yeah. I can never remember that
- 1:55:52Speaker 3: character's name, but she hands him the medal... And I
- 1:55:55Speaker 3: kind of laughed.
- 1:55:55Speaker 9: I was like, okay. And then my wife was like,
- 1:55:58Speaker 9: what is that? And I was like, be quiet, because
- 1:56:00Speaker 9: the movie was still going.
- 1:56:02Speaker 3: I will kill you in the parking lot. But yeah,
- 1:56:04Speaker 3: after the movie was over, she was like, so what
- 1:56:06Speaker 3: was that big deal about.
- 1:56:06Speaker 9: That thing that she handed Chewie? And I explained to
- 1:56:08Speaker 9: her about the medal ceremony. I was like, yeah, she
- 1:56:11Speaker 9: gave one to Luke and she gave one to Han.
- 1:56:13Speaker 9: And right away my wife was like, Why not Chewy?
- 1:56:16Speaker 7: Exactly!
- 1:56:17Speaker 3: That's what fans have been asking for 42 years.
- 1:56:20Speaker 9: Why not Chewy? And of all the things that George
- 1:56:22Speaker 9: Lucas is going to go back and.
- 1:56:24Speaker 3: Fix, why not that? I mean, that hero dog just
- 1:56:27Speaker 3: got a medal. I saw it on the news. Why
- 1:56:30Speaker 3: doesn't Chewy get a medal? Chewy is just as important
- 1:56:34Speaker 3: to all of this.
- 1:56:36Speaker 8: All of this.
- 1:56:37Speaker 9: If it weren't for Chewy, they all would have been
- 1:56:39Speaker 9: slaughtered on Endor.
- 1:56:42Speaker 2: Well, it's not like Chewie was hiding in the Millennium
- 1:56:44Speaker 2: Falcon while they were, like, trouncing around the Death Star.
- 1:56:46Speaker 2: He's there with them.
- 1:56:47Speaker 3: They're right next to him.
- 1:56:48Speaker 12: You know?
- 1:56:49Speaker 3: And Han was the... Han swoops in at the end.
- 1:56:51Speaker 2: Well, he got a medal. Why didn't his co-pilot, you know?
- 1:56:54Speaker 9: As my Marine uncle would say, Chewie was in the shit.
- 1:57:00Speaker 9: Literally in the.
- 1:57:02Speaker 10: Trash compactor scene.
- 1:57:02Speaker 3: Yeah, trash compactor. So speaking of the indoor, how about
- 1:57:07Speaker 3: the little shout out to the Ewoks at the end?
- 1:57:10Speaker 3: Another fan service moment.
- 1:57:12Speaker 9: Again, walking into the theater, I was like, oh, how
- 1:57:13Speaker 9: many callbacks to the older movies did we get?
- 1:57:15Speaker 3: And then they showed the Ewoks, and I was like.
- 1:57:18Speaker 2: Well, there's... At least there wasn't singing.
- 1:57:20Speaker 9: And at least it was What's-His-Name.
- 1:57:24Speaker 3: Wicket gets to make his appearance again. I guess he
- 1:57:27Speaker 3: leads the tribe now.
- 1:57:29Speaker 9: I'd like to think he got paid a lot of
- 1:57:30Speaker 9: money to just show up for two seconds.
- 1:57:33Speaker 3: I mean, that's his job. I hope so. They're making
- 1:57:35Speaker 3: another Star Wars or some other weird Harry Potter movie.
- 1:57:38Speaker 3: I got to show up and give my... What is
- 1:57:41Speaker 3: that guy's name?
- 1:57:42Speaker 2: Warwick Davis.
- 1:57:43Speaker 3: Thank you. Because normally it's like right there, but now
- 1:57:46Speaker 3: I'm like... Let's see. Lando, 3P, returning. Returning to Tatooine.
- 1:57:54Speaker 3: at the end yeah that was again a sort of
- 1:57:57Speaker 3: full circle thing well that.
- 1:57:59Speaker 9: Ending shot that's what I like about the original movie
- 1:58:04Speaker 9: is the cinematography is just beautiful so that ending shot
- 1:58:08Speaker 9: I felt was gorgeous with the Tucson going down.
- 1:58:11Speaker 3: Yeah I'm okay again like I do and especially because
- 1:58:15Speaker 3: the like burying the Luke and Leia like I kind
- 1:58:18Speaker 3: of like that that's a nice again we don't get
- 1:58:21Speaker 3: to bury the bodies because they all disappear what is
- 1:58:23Speaker 3: that bitch doing out there in the middle of nowhere
- 1:58:26Speaker 3: and who cleaned up the moisture farm Because I remember
- 1:58:30Speaker 3: it being charred and pieces gone. They rebuilt it. They
- 1:58:34Speaker 3: tried to sublet it.
- 1:58:36Speaker 2: Or the nosy neighbor. It was bringing down the property value,
- 1:58:40Speaker 2: so she kind of cleaned it up, scrubbed off the plaster.
- 1:58:42Speaker 3: She was trying to turn it into condos, but they
- 1:58:44Speaker 3: couldn't sell that property.
- 1:58:45Speaker 7: Gentrifying the neighborhood.
- 1:58:48Speaker 3: It was a coffee shop for a little while. It's
- 1:58:50Speaker 3: hard to sell anything when you have a double homicide
- 1:58:52Speaker 3: on it. It's a rough resale on that one. But
- 1:58:55Speaker 3: I do like that moment of seeing, because she got
- 1:58:58Speaker 3: rid of him. I'm like, well, what the hell? Oh,
- 1:59:00Speaker 3: she made her own. She's completed her training. Was it yellow?
- 1:59:04Speaker 3: I couldn't. I thought it was yellow. It's old school
- 1:59:08Speaker 3: Luke action figure. It's yellow. So I do like seeing
- 1:59:13Speaker 3: that she made her own and we get to the
- 1:59:15Speaker 3: next phase. I like that color too.
- 1:59:16Speaker 7: Like she's from like a desert planet.
- 1:59:18Speaker 3: I don't know. It's just good to work some in.
- 1:59:22Speaker 3: It was weird that we had nothing but blue. We
- 1:59:25Speaker 3: never even got the return of the green with Luke.
- 1:59:28Speaker 3: It was just a whole.
- 1:59:29Speaker 9: Lot of blue. I thought Leia's was green in the
- 1:59:33Speaker 9: flashback sequence. And then later on, when shows were using
- 1:59:37Speaker 9: both of them, they were both clearly blue.
- 1:59:40Speaker 2: Didn't even pay attention to that.
- 1:59:40Speaker 3: But I think you're right.
- 1:59:41Speaker 2: I think they were different colors in the flashback. Yeah,
- 1:59:43Speaker 2: they were both blue.
- 1:59:44Speaker 3: At the end. Because I thought this... I was like, oh,
- 1:59:46Speaker 3: a green one. Yay.
- 1:59:47Speaker 2: Well, but so... luke's got broken see i kind of
- 1:59:53Speaker 2: wondered so did they rebuild it.
- 1:59:55Speaker 3: At the yeah in the middle of the battle.
- 1:59:57Speaker 2: There yeah because it got split in half that was
- 1:59:59Speaker 2: the whole kaboom so right when i was kind of
- 2:00:02Speaker 2: thinking that in the middle of the movie and i'm
- 2:00:03Speaker 2: like i don't have time to think about it's too
- 2:00:05Speaker 2: much too much backtracking i'm trying to focus on the
- 2:00:07Speaker 2: movie but i was like didn't that explode like but
- 2:00:10Speaker 2: if it got if it was luke's always blue and
- 2:00:13Speaker 2: then was it blue's blue in the flashback and hers
- 2:00:15Speaker 2: was green or because if his was green flashback when
- 2:00:18Speaker 2: it was blue.
- 2:00:19Speaker 3: Okay And Leia's was green, I think. That was over
- 2:00:23Speaker 3: 24 hours ago. Warwick Davis. Yeah. But I like that
- 2:00:30Speaker 3: she got her own. And Leia's looked kind of cool.
- 2:00:33Speaker 3: I like the... Yeah. It was definitely a different look.
- 2:00:35Speaker 3: And then hers is really different. I like that.
- 2:00:38Speaker 9: I just learned, as a side note, I learned that
- 2:00:40Speaker 9: Samuel L. Jackson's had the words bad motherfucker engraved on it.
- 2:00:44Speaker 9: The props department did that for him.
- 2:00:47Speaker 3: And I like that he's specifically like, if I'm coming on,
- 2:00:49Speaker 3: it's going to be purple.
- 2:00:50Speaker 9: Well, apparently he wanted purple so that he could find
- 2:00:54Speaker 9: himself in the big battle scene.
- 2:00:55Speaker 3: He's like, if I'm doing this, it's going to be purple.
- 2:00:57Speaker 9: It's like, man, the more I learn about that guy,
- 2:01:00Speaker 9: the more.
- 2:01:00Speaker 3: I love him.
- 2:01:01Speaker 2: It's probably really hard in person to say no to
- 2:01:04Speaker 2: Samuel L. Jackson when he says, I want this.
- 2:01:07Speaker 3: You're probably like, okay.
- 2:01:08Speaker 7: That's so funny that Sam Jackson is like, I want
- 2:01:11Speaker 7: the purple so I can see myself when I.
- 2:01:13Speaker 3: Watch it back.
- 2:01:13Speaker 7: And Adam Driver's like, I'm never going to watch this
- 2:01:15Speaker 7: in my whole life.
- 2:01:16Speaker 3: Yeah. I think they were doing an interview with Samuel L.
- 2:01:18Speaker 4: Jackson.
- 2:01:19Speaker 3: They were like, do you watch him? And he's like, yeah,
- 2:01:20Speaker 3: I watch my movie. He's like, I watch all of them.
- 2:01:25Speaker 3: They're good movies. He was just so regular guy about it.
- 2:01:29Speaker 3: I'm like, hell yeah, I watch my movie.
- 2:01:31Speaker 9: I think he even said something about playing with his
- 2:01:33Speaker 9: action figure.
- 2:01:34Speaker 2: Probably. I mean, that's got to be the coolest thing
- 2:01:36Speaker 2: ever to like Here's me.
- 2:01:39Speaker 3: Here's a little me.
- 2:01:42Speaker 9: I'd be like, yeah, this is great. I'm in Star Wars,
- 2:01:44Speaker 9: but I'm also an action figure.
- 2:01:46Speaker 3: Right. I definitely feel like we all need our own
- 2:01:49Speaker 3: action figures.
- 2:01:50Speaker 2: Actually, you can get custom made action figures.
- 2:01:52Speaker 3: That's what I thought. Hella ridiculously expensive. I looked into it.
- 2:01:55Speaker 2: Yeah, but how cool would it be?
- 2:01:57Speaker 3: We need them tie in for the show. Collect all
- 2:01:59Speaker 3: the weird characters on this show. Flip over the back.
- 2:02:04Speaker 3: I can never find this one.
- 2:02:07Speaker 2: And it was weird, at the end of the movie,
- 2:02:09Speaker 2: I was like, Star Wars don't do end credit stuff,
- 2:02:11Speaker 2: so we're okay to leave.
- 2:02:14Speaker 3: I was still kind of recovering at that point. It
- 2:02:17Speaker 3: was just so much crammed in there. I was just like,
- 2:02:20Speaker 3: I'm just going to sit here for a little while, guys.
- 2:02:22Speaker 2: Now, the one thing I did hear, so apparently J.J.
- 2:02:25Speaker 2: Abrams was talking with someone, and they said they're a
- 2:02:29Speaker 2: big Ahsoka Tano fan, which is one of my favorite
- 2:02:31Speaker 2: arcs in the early stuff. He's like, oh, you need
- 2:02:35Speaker 2: to watch and you're going to really love my movie.
- 2:02:39Speaker 2: Being there's a ton of records. And all it is,
- 2:02:41Speaker 2: is her voice. They did get the voice of the whole.
- 2:02:44Speaker 2: We're all in you. She was in there.
- 2:02:47Speaker 3: I'm like, yeah.
- 2:02:49Speaker 2: I had to guess that one of the women speaking
- 2:02:51Speaker 2: was like, I'm like, that's not a reference. That's not
- 2:02:54Speaker 2: like watch my movie. You're going to see something awesome.
- 2:02:56Speaker 3: That's just, I guess. They did go out of their
- 2:02:59Speaker 3: way to work everybody in, though. Like, they really did get, like,
- 2:03:03Speaker 3: Qui-Gon came back and recorded, and Hayden Christensen, which I
- 2:03:06Speaker 3: kind of wondered if they were going to, like, force
- 2:03:08Speaker 3: Ghost in, something with him. I would kind of like
- 2:03:10Speaker 3: to see him, like, redeem himself in the Star Wars universe.
- 2:03:13Speaker 3: I would like to have seen... them do something with
- 2:03:17Speaker 3: him like yeah i mean he just and i don't
- 2:03:19Speaker 3: think he's bad i did i did not care for
- 2:03:22Speaker 3: i think it's handled badly i don't think it's his
- 2:03:24Speaker 3: fault somebody i.
- 2:03:25Speaker 9: Can't remember what the whole reference was but somebody pointed
- 2:03:28Speaker 9: out him being pissy actually does reflect darth because there's
- 2:03:34Speaker 9: something darth vader does at some point it's perfect it
- 2:03:37Speaker 9: actually does make sense that he was such a little
- 2:03:41Speaker 9: bitch yeah.
- 2:03:42Speaker 2: Well and it's sort of like you know When I
- 2:03:45Speaker 2: read the Harry Potter stories, you know, it was throughout
- 2:03:49Speaker 2: the whole fifth book. I'm like, stop being a little
- 2:03:51Speaker 2: whiny kid. Go talk to the adults. And then I'm like, well, no.
- 2:03:55Speaker 3: He is a kid. I'm like, you are a kid.
- 2:03:57Speaker 3: That's perfectly.
- 2:03:58Speaker 2: So as I'm watching it, I'm like, stop being a
- 2:04:00Speaker 2: whiny kid. But he is a whiny kid.
- 2:04:04Speaker 3: It's the same thing as Kylo, though. You're also a
- 2:04:06Speaker 3: whiny kid who has ridiculous power. That, like, you put
- 2:04:11Speaker 3: those two together, like, you're gonna lead to something horrible,
- 2:04:14Speaker 3: specifically if you don't have somebody good taking care of
- 2:04:18Speaker 3: you and teaching you. And, by the way, that's the
- 2:04:21Speaker 3: only thing it reinforces in those prequels.
- 2:04:23Speaker 12: Yoda sucks as a teacher yeah ben dropped the ball
- 2:04:26Speaker 12: because it's all going on around him he's just like
- 2:04:29Speaker 12: what huh like at the end he's surprised i'm like
- 2:04:32Speaker 12: dude you're right there pay attention to what's going on
- 2:04:35Speaker 12: like so yeah it's like there's no wonder that he
- 2:04:38Speaker 12: goes as evil as he does because you.
- 2:04:40Speaker 2: Guys all suck well to me that's that was probably
- 2:04:43Speaker 2: one of the greatest faults of the prequel movies is
- 2:04:47Speaker 2: the arc is there you just completely completely mishandled the
- 2:04:52Speaker 2: arc it's there it is so obvious you had this
- 2:04:55Speaker 2: father-son mentorship you barely touch on that the dialogue between
- 2:05:00Speaker 2: everyone sucks the whole it's just it's it's there in
- 2:05:04Speaker 2: your hands and you just messed it up.
- 2:05:08Speaker 3: You know well the thing about the.
- 2:05:16Speaker 9: Ben into a liar everything he tells luke is a
- 2:05:19Speaker 9: total lie drunk old man and then well yeah and
- 2:05:22Speaker 9: then number two everything that happens from episode four on
- 2:05:27Speaker 9: is ben's fault because if he would have just killed
- 2:05:29Speaker 9: anakin on this before none of this would.
- 2:05:32Speaker 3: Have happened I mean, I've done ranting.
- 2:05:34Speaker 7: Yeah, that's kind of, that's how like every war happens.
- 2:05:37Speaker 9: I know, but that's, that's my super Star Wars geek rant.
- 2:05:41Speaker 3: I mean, as all of them go on, like that,
- 2:05:43Speaker 3: that's the thing. As much as I, and I think
- 2:05:45Speaker 3: I've gone on this before, but like as magic as
- 2:05:47Speaker 3: it made everything in those first ones, the prequels hammered
- 2:05:50Speaker 3: out all the details so that I don't like anyone. Like,
- 2:05:53Speaker 3: the fact that I really am just genuinely annoyed at
- 2:05:57Speaker 3: Yoda through all of those. Because, again, it's somebody, like,
- 2:06:00Speaker 3: he comes to you. He's like, I'm really going through
- 2:06:03Speaker 3: some stuff, man. And he's just like, nah, just push
- 2:06:07Speaker 3: your feelings down. Don't feel anything. It's okay. And I'm like, yeah,
- 2:06:10Speaker 3: what do you think is going to happen, idiot? So,
- 2:06:13Speaker 3: it's really, that's why I love that it kind of
- 2:06:14Speaker 3: redeemed Yoda that last movie. Like, he's back. He's a
- 2:06:17Speaker 3: puppet again. He's fun. I was like, okay, good. I
- 2:06:20Speaker 3: can like Yoda again. Because the prequels, Yoda sucks. Yoda
- 2:06:24Speaker 3: drops the ball. If the Padawans had a therapy course
- 2:06:29Speaker 3: they had to go through. Because, I mean, you stole
- 2:06:31Speaker 3: them as children.
- 2:06:32Speaker 15: Yes.
- 2:06:33Speaker 3: You're essentially, I mean, how is it any different than
- 2:06:35Speaker 3: what they're doing with stormtroopers? You're stealing them as children
- 2:06:38Speaker 3: and essentially turning them into slave labor for your weird
- 2:06:41Speaker 3: religious cult. They're told they're not allowed to love other people.
- 2:06:45Speaker 3: What do you think is going to happen? Like, of course.
- 2:06:48Speaker 3: They're told they can't be angry, which.
- 2:06:49Speaker 9: Anger is a normal human emotion.
- 2:06:52Speaker 3: I mean, they can't have any of it. You can't love.
- 2:06:53Speaker 3: You can't be angry. Like, what the hell do you do? Like, yeah.
- 2:06:58Speaker 3: And again, I got to a point, I'm like, I
- 2:06:59Speaker 3: don't really like the Jedis anymore either. They have all
- 2:07:01Speaker 3: these stupid rules.
- 2:07:03Speaker 2: And that's what I like so much about Angry Luke
- 2:07:05Speaker 2: in Last Jedi was he's like, we're screwed up.
- 2:07:09Speaker 3: The way we do this is messed up.
- 2:07:12Speaker 2: We're done.
- 2:07:13Speaker 3: You know, and I was like, Yes, you are messed up.
- 2:07:16Speaker 2: You're right.
- 2:07:17Speaker 3: This is a terrible system.
- 2:07:18Speaker 2: I was like, however, fix it.
- 2:07:22Speaker 3: Don't just throw it away.
- 2:07:24Speaker 2: Because the bad guys are going to go, well, the
- 2:07:26Speaker 2: Jedi's are done, so we're done.
- 2:07:28Speaker 3: And he kind of did after the fact. Because it's
- 2:07:31Speaker 3: funny that she does the exact same thing. As soon
- 2:07:34Speaker 3: as she sees the potential of her evil, she's like, nope,
- 2:07:38Speaker 3: going to an island, sitting by myself for the rest
- 2:07:40Speaker 3: of my life. The thing that she just called him
- 2:07:43Speaker 3: out for, she immediately does the same thing. Because it
- 2:07:45Speaker 3: just scared the hell out of her. That's it, I'm done,
- 2:07:48Speaker 3: I'm out.
- 2:07:48Speaker 2: What I really wanted in that scene with Luke was...
- 2:07:53Speaker 2: This is the way it is. You can't run from
- 2:07:56Speaker 2: the worry of I'm going to turn evil. You've got
- 2:07:58Speaker 2: to face it.
- 2:07:59Speaker 3: Learn. from my mistakes I wasted the last half of
- 2:08:03Speaker 3: my life sitting on this rock don't do what I
- 2:08:06Speaker 3: did that's where I really wanted that conversation to go.
- 2:08:10Speaker 2: Of see this is where it falls apart you've got
- 2:08:14Speaker 2: to you can't run from anger from hate you've got
- 2:08:18Speaker 2: to deal with it Otherwise, the minute you do feel it,
- 2:08:23Speaker 2: dark side.
- 2:08:24Speaker 3: You've got to face that stuff.
- 2:08:26Speaker 7: Got to get Mr. Rogers in there.
- 2:08:27Speaker 3: Get kids to deal with their emotions.
- 2:08:29Speaker 2: Exactly.
- 2:08:31Speaker 3: Both of these. Sith kids, Jedi kids, they're all messed up, man.
- 2:08:35Speaker 3: They need some therapy.
- 2:08:38Speaker 9: I was kind of hoping, too, that we'd have a
- 2:08:39Speaker 9: shot with Ghost Luke where he's like, got my hand back.
- 2:08:44Speaker 3: Well, that was brought up, too, is like, there seem
- 2:08:47Speaker 3: to be no rules and it gets worse with the
- 2:08:50Speaker 3: force ghost when they do their doctoring of the old footage,
- 2:08:53Speaker 3: because why does Anakin come back in the doctor redone
- 2:08:57Speaker 3: footage as young Hayden version, but we see old Luke
- 2:09:01Speaker 3: and Leia. Like, why didn't we get like episode four,
- 2:09:04Speaker 3: Luke and Leia? Like, Do you just get to pick
- 2:09:07Speaker 3: your presentation in this other world?
- 2:09:08Speaker 9: I've experienced my dissatisfaction with the Hayden Christians and the
- 2:09:10Speaker 9: Force Ghosts many times.
- 2:09:12Speaker 3: Well, and then I had that question with Han, too.
- 2:09:14Speaker 3: I'm like, so... I mean, they even throw out that
- 2:09:18Speaker 3: it's just a memory, but I'm like, is it? Or
- 2:09:21Speaker 3: is it... Is it some sort of proof that there's other, like,
- 2:09:25Speaker 3: are regular people allowed in this other world that the
- 2:09:28Speaker 3: Jedi's go to? Because Han's definitely been suggested that he's
- 2:09:32Speaker 3: at least Force-sensitive.
- 2:09:34Speaker 2: Well, I assume since he wasn't glowy.
- 2:09:37Speaker 3: Yeah, they shot it differently. That it is a memory.
- 2:09:39Speaker 2: This is me having an internal realization. Dealing with myself.
- 2:09:44Speaker 3: Yeah. But.
- 2:09:45Speaker 2: You can't, that doesn't sell well on film, so you've
- 2:09:48Speaker 2: got the show. And honestly, to me, that was one
- 2:09:51Speaker 2: of my favorite parts of that movie. Because I didn't expect,
- 2:09:54Speaker 2: I didn't expect.
- 2:09:55Speaker 3: I thought he was out. I was like, wow. I
- 2:09:59Speaker 3: thought he, okay, he got what he wanted. And again,
- 2:10:03Speaker 3: I think it's the only thing that fixes that scenario.
- 2:10:05Speaker 3: You couldn't forgive him otherwise.
- 2:10:08Speaker 9: Did anyone else notice, though, that when Ghost Luke stood
- 2:10:11Speaker 9: in front of Rey, you couldn't see her?
- 2:10:15Speaker 3: I mean, it's a small technical problem, I know. But
- 2:10:18Speaker 3: you couldn't see her, but you could see what was
- 2:10:20Speaker 3: behind her. You don't know how ghosts work. And then
- 2:10:22Speaker 3: as soon as he moved, you could see her again.
- 2:10:24Speaker 3: And I was like, I'll let it slide. I mean,
- 2:10:28Speaker 3: I've always had those.
- 2:10:29Speaker 2: Did you stand up and yell in the theater? Wait
- 2:10:32Speaker 2: a minute. No.
- 2:10:33Speaker 6: This is bullshit.
- 2:10:34Speaker 9: But I was really surprised no one else did either
- 2:10:36Speaker 9: because there were some... there were some nerds.
- 2:10:39Speaker 3: There yeah well this is i mean that is one
- 2:10:42Speaker 3: of those i've always like from the time they started
- 2:10:45Speaker 3: throwing out these fours i'm like what are the rules
- 2:10:47Speaker 3: of this like what do they do the whole rest
- 2:10:49Speaker 3: of the time or is there an entirely other like
- 2:10:53Speaker 3: life going on on this other side and they just
- 2:10:55Speaker 3: come to visit us or well they make it just
- 2:10:57Speaker 3: spiritually hanging out all day like what goes on.
- 2:11:00Speaker 9: Which was the third one in the prequels was it
- 2:11:03Speaker 9: revenge revenge yeah They make it sound like it's something
- 2:11:06Speaker 9: that Qui-Gon had to learn how to do.
- 2:11:09Speaker 3: Yeah. And then these other guys are just showing up,
- 2:11:12Speaker 3: not like, man, you better listen, because this was hard.
- 2:11:14Speaker 3: This was really hard to figure out how to do this. Again,
- 2:11:18Speaker 3: there's so many weird aspects to that that I don't
- 2:11:22Speaker 3: know how you're ever going to nail it down, but
- 2:11:24Speaker 3: they never really clarify. And again, is it just a
- 2:11:27Speaker 3: Jedi thing, or does everyone go to this spirit world,
- 2:11:31Speaker 3: but only Jedis are trained enough to come back?
- 2:11:33Speaker 2: In some of the comic stuff, there are Sith versions
- 2:11:39Speaker 2: of this.
- 2:11:40Speaker 3: And that was my question earlier, too. Except he didn't die,
- 2:11:46Speaker 3: but why wasn't there a Darth Maul that came back
- 2:11:48Speaker 3: in ghost form, except he didn't die?
- 2:11:50Speaker 2: And I even think in the Clone Wars cartoon, in
- 2:11:53Speaker 2: one of the episodes, they go to an old Sith planet,
- 2:11:56Speaker 2: and there's like a, A Sith ghost of somebody there.
- 2:11:59Speaker 9: See, that's a very scary thought because the Jedi are
- 2:12:01Speaker 9: supposed to be more powerful when they're dead.
- 2:12:04Speaker 3: And that was my question earlier. So why aren't the
- 2:12:07Speaker 3: Sith just running around?
- 2:12:08Speaker 2: Well, in the beginning, they may just be able to
- 2:12:10Speaker 2: haunt places and not interact, you know, spooky, scary.
- 2:12:14Speaker 3: I mean, if you were that evil, though, you should
- 2:12:16Speaker 3: take that evil to the other side.
- 2:12:17Speaker 9: But Ben is influencing Luke from the other side, so
- 2:12:21Speaker 9: why wouldn't anybody?
- 2:12:22Speaker 3: Why wouldn't an evil Sith from the past be there, like,
- 2:12:25Speaker 3: guiding little Kylo along instead of this fake clone guy?
- 2:12:31Speaker 3: That's going to keep me up for days. So do
- 2:12:35Speaker 3: you think this was a good wrap up to this trilogy?
- 2:12:39Speaker 3: And then the bigger question, do you think it's a
- 2:12:41Speaker 3: good wrap up to the entire nine movie arc?
- 2:12:44Speaker 9: I think it was a good wrap up to this trilogy.
- 2:12:47Speaker 9: I don't feel like the new trilogy is a good
- 2:12:51Speaker 9: wrap up to the whole series, though.
- 2:12:54Speaker 2: I don't think it needed to wrap up the original
- 2:12:56Speaker 2: series necessarily.
- 2:12:57Speaker 3: I feel like it wrapped itself up, really. Yeah. With Jedi. Well, again,
- 2:13:01Speaker 3: this is almost a repeat. Like, the end is just
- 2:13:04Speaker 3: the end of Jedi. Expanded, more or less. Because we
- 2:13:07Speaker 3: skip the same celebration scene. We cut to the same Ewoks. Like,
- 2:13:11Speaker 3: it really is like its own little tribute to Jedi again. So,
- 2:13:16Speaker 3: my other question is, do we think this is really
- 2:13:20Speaker 3: the end of these new characters? We've killed off all
- 2:13:23Speaker 3: the old ones, but... No way, there's still money to
- 2:13:26Speaker 3: be made. Well, and I think they've done so much
- 2:13:29Speaker 3: with them because I really love what they've done with
- 2:13:33Speaker 3: Rey in general. And it's like, I want to see
- 2:13:35Speaker 3: more with her. I want to see more Rey. I
- 2:13:37Speaker 3: want to see more Finn. Poe and Finn are cool,
- 2:13:40Speaker 3: but Rey is like a legitimately great character that they've developed.
- 2:13:45Speaker 3: And she's, again, had this great story arc. And has
- 2:13:48Speaker 3: kind of proven herself as a solid character.
- 2:13:52Speaker 9: I feel like those two are good supporting characters to
- 2:13:54Speaker 9: that character. Yeah, I like both of them.
- 2:13:56Speaker 3: But again, I think they only work because she's such
- 2:13:59Speaker 3: a solid lead that they can be there to kind
- 2:14:02Speaker 3: of feed off of her. Whereas, I mean, you could
- 2:14:04Speaker 3: kind of do a whole Poe series. And just because
- 2:14:07Speaker 3: he's a sort of knockoff Han Solo anyway. So you
- 2:14:09Speaker 3: could have him having crazy Han Solo kind of adventures
- 2:14:12Speaker 3: as his own thing. And then maybe people wouldn't nitpick
- 2:14:15Speaker 3: as much because it's not Han Solo. So maybe that's
- 2:14:17Speaker 3: the way to fix that. That's the way to fix
- 2:14:20Speaker 3: that Han Solo scenario from earlier. But I don't know.
- 2:14:22Speaker 3: That's like, I kind of don't want it to be
- 2:14:24Speaker 3: the end of these characters. I do want it to
- 2:14:27Speaker 3: be the end of that weird arc and having to
- 2:14:29Speaker 3: constantly feed back to the old stuff. Yeah. I want entire...
- 2:14:33Speaker 3: And that was my go-to here is like, at the end,
- 2:14:36Speaker 3: I was like, I want it to be the end
- 2:14:38Speaker 3: of this Skywalker arc and finish off the Luke and
- 2:14:41Speaker 3: Leia and all of that.
- 2:14:42Speaker 7: They have a whole freaking galaxy.
- 2:14:43Speaker 3: Yeah. There's so many. But I love these Star Wars... universe,
- 2:14:48Speaker 3: the feel of, and I was trying to pinpoint this
- 2:14:50Speaker 3: in my argument last night, because they were just like, well,
- 2:14:53Speaker 3: what makes it Star Wars? Anything can be a Star
- 2:14:54Speaker 3: Wars story. I'm like, yeah, that's the point. Like, if
- 2:14:57Speaker 3: you get the look and feel of the universe, if
- 2:15:00Speaker 3: the costumes and the sets and the sound effects and
- 2:15:03Speaker 3: the music all feels right, it becomes Star Wars. And
- 2:15:07Speaker 3: then you can tell any story. Well, and that's what,
- 2:15:10Speaker 3: I mean, Mandalorian is... And that was where I was going.
- 2:15:14Speaker 3: I was like, the Mandalorian is that. It's delivering on
- 2:15:17Speaker 3: this idea of like, it's drawing from all these things
- 2:15:21Speaker 3: that we've built in the Star Wars universe, but it's
- 2:15:25Speaker 3: not hitting every single one. He's not Boba Fett. It's
- 2:15:28Speaker 3: not Baby Yoda. But we're playing on the things that
- 2:15:31Speaker 3: we know he's a badass because we all like Boba Fett,
- 2:15:34Speaker 3: but we get to see another guy in this uniform
- 2:15:36Speaker 3: and he gets to kind of do the cool things
- 2:15:38Speaker 3: that Boba Fett never got to do because he just
- 2:15:41Speaker 3: continually was fumbling and getting himself into trouble.
- 2:15:44Speaker 2: Well, I had a feeling that Mandalorian is the result
- 2:15:47Speaker 2: of the Boba Fett movie not going forward.
- 2:15:50Speaker 3: Not happening. Which is, I mean, kind of good.
- 2:15:54Speaker 2: I'm okay with that.
- 2:15:55Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm okay with that too. Again, we've told the
- 2:15:57Speaker 3: same characters.
- 2:15:57Speaker 9: Of course, I don't, unlike a lot of people, I
- 2:15:59Speaker 9: don't really, I was never enamored with Boba Fett because
- 2:16:02Speaker 9: he has 10 minutes of screen time.
- 2:16:04Speaker 3: And he does nothing.
- 2:16:05Speaker 2: But Boba Fett as an image is fantastic.
- 2:16:08Speaker 3: As an image, he is. And you also get to see,
- 2:16:12Speaker 3: that's what I like a lot of what's going on.
- 2:16:14Speaker 9: And in the holiday special, the animated set, he is
- 2:16:17Speaker 9: a badass.
- 2:16:18Speaker 3: And that's what I think is cool. They are so
- 2:16:20Speaker 3: hardcore about it that he's using the weapon from the
- 2:16:23Speaker 3: holiday special. And it's like it legitimately is part of
- 2:16:27Speaker 3: what he uses day in and day out. And I'm like,
- 2:16:29Speaker 3: that's awesome. Way to really solidify the canon that is
- 2:16:34Speaker 3: the holiday special.
- 2:16:34Speaker 9: But see, that's a good point, though, because I'm all
- 2:16:37Speaker 9: for Let's have something familiar so that the people who
- 2:16:43Speaker 9: aren't super versed in it can still be like, oh,
- 2:16:46Speaker 9: I get that.
- 2:16:46Speaker 3: I see where this is Star Wars.
- 2:16:48Speaker 9: But yeah, branch out, because I am tired of hearing
- 2:16:50Speaker 9: about Luke Skywalker.
- 2:16:51Speaker 3: I'm tired about Princess Leia. These connections to death, though.
- 2:16:55Speaker 3: That's the thing. Everybody's got to be somebody's... That's another
- 2:16:59Speaker 3: side note. Do we think the Stormtrooper girl is Lando's daughter?
- 2:17:04Speaker 3: Is that what they were setting up? At first I
- 2:17:06Speaker 3: thought he was just hitting on her. And then when
- 2:17:09Speaker 3: he made that comment about where you came from, I
- 2:17:11Speaker 3: was like, oh, is this setting up a side story
- 2:17:14Speaker 3: of like we find out. Because there was, again, I
- 2:17:17Speaker 3: read there was some weird story about after Jedi, Lando
- 2:17:20Speaker 3: tried to start a family and the daughter got kidnapped
- 2:17:23Speaker 3: or something. So this is kidnapped to go be an empire. Yeah.
- 2:17:27Speaker 7: Like having familiar characters. It could be like Rey or
- 2:17:30Speaker 7: Poe or Finn or all three of them. Yeah.
- 2:17:32Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah.
- 2:17:40Speaker 7: Has the same kind of humor like like the the
- 2:17:42Speaker 7: kookiness of the cultures um the look and feel of
- 2:17:46Speaker 7: it but they don't know anybody there yeah there are
- 2:17:49Speaker 7: no other like characters besides them that you know and just.
- 2:17:54Speaker 3: That and that's what i think is working on the
- 2:17:56Speaker 3: mandalorian is because we are like he keeps going to
- 2:17:59Speaker 3: different worlds we keep seeing different places but we're not
- 2:18:02Speaker 3: seeing the same old characters. And not the hand and
- 2:18:04Speaker 3: fist tributes over and over again. We're seeing resembling the
- 2:18:08Speaker 3: fact that that droid that comes in in the beginning
- 2:18:11Speaker 3: is essentially an IG-88 model, but it's a different droid.
- 2:18:15Speaker 3: It's like it's doing a different thing, but it's kind
- 2:18:17Speaker 3: of hitting that little, oh, that's the scratch in the
- 2:18:19Speaker 3: Star Wars place that I needed.
- 2:18:20Speaker 2: Again, in a universe, there's going to be similarities. So
- 2:18:27Speaker 2: what I really like about The Mandalorian is it's set after...
- 2:18:31Speaker 2: Return of the Jedi, so.
- 2:18:33Speaker 2: And what they did in the EU was when the
- 2:18:36Speaker 2: Empire fell, it's not like it just disappeared.
- 2:18:40Speaker 3: You know?
- 2:18:40Speaker 2: So you've got the remnants of stormtroopers who are suddenly
- 2:18:44Speaker 2: probably out of work and not getting paid, so what
- 2:18:46Speaker 2: are they going to do? They're going to find other
- 2:18:48Speaker 2: jobs doing hitman stuff or being strong arms. So you've got...
- 2:18:52Speaker 2: And plus the Empire just doesn't disappear, so you've still
- 2:18:55Speaker 2: got local fiefdoms and stuff.
- 2:18:58Speaker 4: So it.
- 2:18:59Speaker 2: It doesn't have to involve it, but by having a
- 2:19:02Speaker 2: stormtrooper helmet over here and by having a familiar-looking robot here,
- 2:19:07Speaker 2: by having a gonk droid and a mouse droid, you're
- 2:19:11Speaker 2: in the universe because robots are probably everywhere. Things look
- 2:19:16Speaker 2: the same, but you don't have to be a Skywalker
- 2:19:19Speaker 2: or a Palpatine, which is why I was happy when
- 2:19:21Speaker 2: they're like, Rey, you're nobody. I'm like, yes, because I
- 2:19:24Speaker 2: don't want her to be. a Skywalker or a Kenobi
- 2:19:27Speaker 2: or whatever.
- 2:19:27Speaker 3: But again, knee deep in the same nine movie arc,
- 2:19:31Speaker 3: I guess it's fine. Again, that's why I'm like, all right,
- 2:19:33Speaker 3: fine Palpatine. I don't, well, because we're in the middle
- 2:19:36Speaker 3: of this, I guess it's fine. But moving forward, I'm like,
- 2:19:40Speaker 3: leave all that behind.
- 2:19:40Speaker 2: And there's so much fodder.
- 2:19:42Speaker 7: It's like, oh, the fall of an empire. Guess what
- 2:19:44Speaker 7: happens in real life?
- 2:19:46Speaker 3: Exactly.
- 2:19:46Speaker 2: How it struggles.
- 2:19:47Speaker 3: Right, exactly. Well, and now we get, especially because we're
- 2:19:50Speaker 3: dealing with so many bad guys, it's like now you
- 2:19:52Speaker 3: get tons of little corrupt sub-bosses that just take over
- 2:19:56Speaker 3: and make their own little area. And like, you don't
- 2:19:58Speaker 3: have an empire running everything anymore. You've got a whole
- 2:20:01Speaker 3: bunch of people with power and money and like they
- 2:20:04Speaker 3: do whatever they want and nobody's keeping them in check.
- 2:20:07Speaker 3: So you can tell really cool stories spiraling off that.
- 2:20:10Speaker 2: So, and again, the, the idea of, so what, besides
- 2:20:13Speaker 2: the look of Boba Fett, what made Boba Fett interesting
- 2:20:15Speaker 2: was he was a bounty hunter. So, so there is
- 2:20:17Speaker 2: a bounty hunter guild that you hire out and that,
- 2:20:20Speaker 2: that opens up everything. Bounty hunters can get hired to
- 2:20:24Speaker 2: do good stuff. Bounty hunters can get hired to do
- 2:20:26Speaker 2: bad stuff.
- 2:20:28Speaker 3: Well, and this is one of the few things, and again,
- 2:20:30Speaker 3: not to go too far into the series, but like
- 2:20:32Speaker 3: we're also seeing, this is a pretty well thought out
- 2:20:36Speaker 3: character because we're also seeing a character with morality, which
- 2:20:39Speaker 3: we have not seen in a lot of, like they're
- 2:20:42Speaker 3: so simplified that we don't even, they're just good guys
- 2:20:44Speaker 3: or bad guys or whatever. We see him have to
- 2:20:46Speaker 3: deal with like, is this the right thing that I'm doing?
- 2:20:49Speaker 3: And you don't see people questioning that a whole lot
- 2:20:52Speaker 3: in the Star Wars universe.
- 2:20:53Speaker 2: And they go back to his childhood, which goes even
- 2:20:57Speaker 2: further back in the history of Star Wars because you
- 2:21:01Speaker 2: see Separatist droids in his flashbacks as a kid, which
- 2:21:06Speaker 2: fits in with the overall Star Wars timeline. Yeah, if
- 2:21:10Speaker 2: you're a 35, 40-year-old guy.
- 2:21:14Speaker 2: You remember the Empire, and then as a kid, you
- 2:21:17Speaker 2: remember the Clone War, and you could have been on
- 2:21:19Speaker 2: a planet that was caught up in the Clone War
- 2:21:22Speaker 2: between clone troopers and other guys fighting. So that's what's interesting. Again,
- 2:21:27Speaker 2: you don't have to name names or be on special
- 2:21:31Speaker 2: planets that you've seen before. It's just somewhere.
- 2:21:34Speaker 3: It's all part of the same story without being so, again,
- 2:21:37Speaker 3: ham-fisted about it. I also heard it described that this
- 2:21:40Speaker 3: is the first time we're seeing essentially a good dad.
- 2:21:45Speaker 3: and i'm like we see a lot of bad fathers
- 2:21:47Speaker 3: in the star wars universe but this adopted dad is
- 2:21:51Speaker 3: doing a pretty damn good job comparatively so again that
- 2:21:55Speaker 3: was that was kind of why i wanted to come
- 2:21:56Speaker 3: back around on it because in asking that question it's
- 2:21:59Speaker 3: already answering itself in a different media at this point
- 2:22:03Speaker 3: we're getting a series that's doing all the things i've
- 2:22:06Speaker 3: kind of been asking him to do all along anyway
- 2:22:08Speaker 3: so i think that's oh man to hit this reference
- 2:22:11Speaker 3: there's hope.
- 2:22:13Speaker 2: One and that's where again um My biggest complaints about
- 2:22:17Speaker 2: Solo was that Solo was so ham-fisted about... Threading every connection.
- 2:22:22Speaker 2: He gets his name, he meets Chewie, he gives Chewie
- 2:22:25Speaker 2: his nickname, he gets his gun, he gets his last name.
- 2:22:29Speaker 3: It's like... Why does the ship look like that? How
- 2:22:32Speaker 3: does it make the Kessel Run?
- 2:22:33Speaker 2: Yeah, the Kessel Run, his next job is Jabba.
- 2:22:37Speaker 3: It's like.
- 2:22:39Speaker 2: it's like calm down just tell.
- 2:22:41Speaker 3: A story have sex with robots we get that it's
- 2:22:44Speaker 3: han you know you don't have to convince us we
- 2:22:47Speaker 3: saw the title.
- 2:22:49Speaker 2: You know you didn't need to condense 25 years of
- 2:22:53Speaker 2: the guy's backstory into into yeah two weeks of stuff
- 2:22:57Speaker 2: that he did that was what i feel like they've
- 2:22:59Speaker 2: been doing wrong for a lot of this right and
- 2:23:01Speaker 2: so again i've always said the fun thing about star
- 2:23:04Speaker 2: wars is it's a universe, it's a galaxy. Play, play
- 2:23:08Speaker 2: other places in it because if you make a creature,
- 2:23:12Speaker 2: someone's not going to go, well, that wasn't in the
- 2:23:14Speaker 2: original Star Wars.
- 2:23:15Speaker 7: Yeah. You see how many freaking ships showed up at
- 2:23:18Speaker 7: the end? How many different worlds did they come from?
- 2:23:20Speaker 3: Like, Who knows what kind of weird creatures are flying
- 2:23:24Speaker 3: those ships.
- 2:23:25Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, it's not just X-Wings, Corellian freighters, and
- 2:23:28Speaker 2: Star Destroyers. I mean, there's a bazillion other ships. But
- 2:23:31Speaker 2: that's a good.
- 2:23:32Speaker 11: Point, though.
- 2:23:33Speaker 9: I've always seen, sorry to interrupt, but I've always seen
- 2:23:36Speaker 9: the Empire employ our humanoid characters.
- 2:23:40Speaker 3: I assume, especially as the Empire, I assume they're super, like,
- 2:23:43Speaker 3: close-minded about that. I do like, it gets impressive how,
- 2:23:47Speaker 3: in this new world, how many women there are in
- 2:23:49Speaker 3: the Empire.
- 2:23:50Speaker 7: Mm-hmm.
- 2:23:51Speaker 3: And rebels, like there were a ton of rebel pilots
- 2:23:53Speaker 3: this time that were, that were, and I was.
- 2:23:55Speaker 2: Like, they have sort of made some hints that the,
- 2:23:59Speaker 2: the empire is very human centric. yeah like they are.
- 2:24:04Speaker 3: You don't see any other but the rebels don't care
- 2:24:07Speaker 3: like we'll take what we need yeah i guess that
- 2:24:09Speaker 3: would very.
- 2:24:10Speaker 9: You know yeah that would play into the whole oh
- 2:24:12Speaker 9: this whole thing was ripped off the nazi.
- 2:24:14Speaker 2: It's basically fascist they're space fascists.
- 2:24:16Speaker 3: Right but i like that within the humans they're fine
- 2:24:19Speaker 3: with it again they're they're welcoming women in the lady
- 2:24:22Speaker 3: sitting at the table is black so i mean we've
- 2:24:24Speaker 3: got all the as long as you're human it's cool
- 2:24:26Speaker 3: you can be whatever But these other races, we don't
- 2:24:29Speaker 3: like them. We don't like any of these other creatures
- 2:24:31Speaker 3: out there they seem super close-minded to. So I guess
- 2:24:34Speaker 3: that's the next level of them.
- 2:24:36Speaker 9: Speaking of women, I was disappointed to see that Fantoma
- 2:24:39Speaker 9: did not return.
- 2:24:40Speaker 3: I was waiting for it. I was hoping, even though
- 2:24:42Speaker 3: it made no sense, I was like, I don't care.
- 2:24:44Speaker 3: I want her to be the Jason of this story.
- 2:24:45Speaker 3: I want her to just keep coming back no matter
- 2:24:48Speaker 3: how many times he kills her. You technically don't see
- 2:24:50Speaker 3: her die. No, she just disappears into fire. Same with Chewie.
- 2:24:53Speaker 3: You don't actually see him die, so that gives him
- 2:24:55Speaker 3: room to come back, and he did.
- 2:24:57Speaker 9: Phantom, I thought, could have been an amazing character, but
- 2:25:02Speaker 9: now we'll never know.
- 2:25:03Speaker 2: Well, again, she's the one that the look was so awesome. Yeah.
- 2:25:07Speaker 2: And you're like, boy, you just underutilized her.
- 2:25:11Speaker 3: She's the new both. She looks awesome and has nothing
- 2:25:15Speaker 3: to do. Fantastic.
- 2:25:17Speaker 2: Her arc in Game of Thrones was hands down one
- 2:25:20Speaker 2: of the best.
- 2:25:20Speaker 3: It was an actor whose name I recognize, but I can't.
- 2:25:24Speaker 2: I apologize.
- 2:25:24Speaker 3: But again, it's one of those things where... If she's listening,
- 2:25:26Speaker 3: I apologize. I think we're okay.
- 2:25:27Speaker 2: So again, when they showed, like, we're going to have
- 2:25:30Speaker 2: this character called.
- 2:25:31Speaker 7: Poorly.
- 2:25:32Speaker 2: Phasma, I didn't care for the name, but I'm like,
- 2:25:34Speaker 2: that character looks bad.
- 2:25:36Speaker 3: Was it Phasma or Phantama? Phasma.
- 2:25:38Speaker 6: Phasma.
- 2:25:38Speaker 2: Captain Phasma.
- 2:25:39Speaker 3: I knew it was Ph-uh-something.
- 2:25:41Speaker 7: I was like, Phantama?
- 2:25:42Speaker 3: Who's that?
- 2:25:42Speaker 17: Phasma.
- 2:25:44Speaker 3: I really was, again, because they went... The silver lady stormtrooper.
- 2:25:47Speaker 3: Because they went out of their way to bring her
- 2:25:49Speaker 3: back in that last one, I was like, I would
- 2:25:51Speaker 3: like that as like a... And specifically like her to seek...
- 2:25:54Speaker 3: Because when they went back on the ship, I was waiting...
- 2:25:57Speaker 3: As they were running around and kept getting like running
- 2:25:59Speaker 3: into stormtroopers, I kept waiting for her to come around
- 2:26:02Speaker 3: the corner and be like... Like FN-2187. Yeah, I wanted
- 2:26:05Speaker 3: her to specifically find Finn and be like, oh... Look
- 2:26:09Speaker 3: who it is.
- 2:26:09Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 2:26:10Speaker 3: Like there to be a big battle between those two
- 2:26:12Speaker 3: and finally like have some big payoff.
- 2:26:14Speaker 2: But they really, again, JJ, that would have been another
- 2:26:18Speaker 2: 10 minutes too.
- 2:26:19Speaker 3: That's true. It would have slowed it down.
- 2:26:20Speaker 7: They can only like tie so many bows.
- 2:26:23Speaker 3: But we tied a bunch of them I could care
- 2:26:24Speaker 3: less about. That one would have been kind of awesome. So, yeah.
- 2:26:28Speaker 2: Well, I wonder, I wonder how, how petty directors are
- 2:26:31Speaker 2: to each other. So like, so like in the second
- 2:26:34Speaker 2: movie was Rian Johnson like I'm gonna kill off Phasma
- 2:26:37Speaker 2: screw you I'll kill off Snoke screw you and then Jay's.
- 2:26:40Speaker 3: Like well okay I'll do all this to you again
- 2:26:43Speaker 3: he specifically handed it off though it's like you came
- 2:26:47Speaker 3: up with this whole concept and you I thought he
- 2:26:49Speaker 3: was involved in picking Rian Johnson as the next guy
- 2:26:52Speaker 3: to come along so I'm like why are you two
- 2:26:55Speaker 3: being cause then he like I'm gonna change everything you
- 2:26:58Speaker 3: did in this one and then he comes back and
- 2:26:59Speaker 3: he's like I'm changing it all back so there and
- 2:27:02Speaker 3: I'm like what It'd be different if they were like handed.
- 2:27:06Speaker 3: It came about in different ways, but you were both
- 2:27:08Speaker 3: kind of involved in this whole process. Why?
- 2:27:11Speaker 7: I think it's a collaboration that maybe Abrams just thought
- 2:27:15Speaker 7: was going to be more like magical and awesome than
- 2:27:18Speaker 7: it was.
- 2:27:19Speaker 3: Well, I think it's also him trying to fix everything
- 2:27:22Speaker 3: because I guess so many people got angry that he like.
- 2:27:27Speaker 3: Took it as his responsibility to bring it back to
- 2:27:30Speaker 3: what it was because everybody kind of liked his version.
- 2:27:33Speaker 3: And I don't know. It felt like a lot of like, oh,
- 2:27:36Speaker 3: I'll make it right again.
- 2:27:37Speaker 9: I think he felt like he was handed a mess.
- 2:27:40Speaker 9: yeah and in some ways yeah but maybe not as
- 2:27:44Speaker 9: big of a mess as.
- 2:27:44Speaker 3: He thought it wasn't I don't think he probably went
- 2:27:48Speaker 3: too far with some of the fixes and and Again,
- 2:27:52Speaker 3: I think just took the safest way on every step
- 2:27:55Speaker 3: of this. It just was the most basic. But again,
- 2:27:59Speaker 3: the basic version that would make me happy. And in
- 2:28:02Speaker 3: the end, I'm like, everything wraps up the way you
- 2:28:04Speaker 3: kind of want it to, and it still works. It's
- 2:28:08Speaker 3: still making kids say it's amazing. So it worked. Did
- 2:28:12Speaker 3: it get super creative along the way? No. But what
- 2:28:17Speaker 3: can you do? You're going to lose people if you
- 2:28:19Speaker 3: get that creative.
- 2:28:20Speaker 2: That's kind of what I wanted the non-year Star Wars
- 2:28:24Speaker 2: movies and the other stuff to be. It's like, okay,
- 2:28:27Speaker 2: have your tent poles, have them be what everybody wants.
- 2:28:31Speaker 2: But the other stuff, get a little more edgy with it.
- 2:28:36Speaker 2: Get a little more creative, a little more unusual, because that's... And.
- 2:28:39Speaker 3: They acted like they were going to, and then they
- 2:28:41Speaker 3: both hammered themselves right in the middle of the other
- 2:28:44Speaker 3: stuff so tightly that you couldn't stray and do anything weird.
- 2:28:48Speaker 3: Like everything had to lead right up to four. Everything
- 2:28:51Speaker 3: had to fit in right into the Han Solo arc
- 2:28:53Speaker 3: that I'm like, we never really had the freedom to
- 2:28:56Speaker 3: do anything else because they were so tied to the
- 2:28:59Speaker 3: timeline and the story and these characters. And I'm like,
- 2:29:02Speaker 3: that's why you get away from all that stuff.
- 2:29:04Speaker 2: Well, and that's why it being at Disney, I'm like, Man,
- 2:29:08Speaker 2: I hope they just don't start shoveling out the same
- 2:29:11Speaker 2: stuff every time. Because Disney doesn't want to ruin the brand.
- 2:29:15Speaker 2: But I want weird, interesting stuff. Which is why, again,
- 2:29:24Speaker 2: I'm sure in a couple years I'm going to look
- 2:29:25Speaker 2: back at Mandalorian and go, it's not as great as
- 2:29:29Speaker 2: it was when I watched it because.
- 2:29:32Speaker 2: It doesn't stray far enough, but the fact that it
- 2:29:35Speaker 2: is straying in good territory at all, I'm like, this
- 2:29:38Speaker 2: is great.
- 2:29:39Speaker 3: Yeah. I think it's a big step in the right direction.
- 2:29:42Speaker 3: The fact that people are responding to it, I think,
- 2:29:45Speaker 3: is good because it's going to give Disney a real, oh,
- 2:29:47Speaker 3: this is what people want. Like, I'm sure they're a
- 2:29:49Speaker 3: little apprehensive with straying anywhere. Again, the only time they did,
- 2:29:53Speaker 3: people lost their minds, so. They probably were a little
- 2:29:56Speaker 3: guarded about moving forward on that. But the fact that
- 2:29:59Speaker 3: people do like what they're doing, I think is promising.
- 2:30:02Speaker 4: So, hope.
- 2:30:04Speaker 3: And I do have this.
- 2:30:05Speaker 2: So, I did read where they could not have any
- 2:30:11Speaker 2: toys or merchandise for Baby Yoda. Otherwise, it would have
- 2:30:15Speaker 2: spoiled the surprise.
- 2:30:17Speaker 3: So, the fact that they were willing to go. But
- 2:30:18Speaker 3: they lost out. I thought that. As soon as I
- 2:30:21Speaker 3: saw the response and the memes and all of it,
- 2:30:23Speaker 3: I was just like, They better be getting ready for Christmas.
- 2:30:28Speaker 2: But they couldn't because it takes like four months. And
- 2:30:30Speaker 2: if they would have done anything, that would have been
- 2:30:34Speaker 2: leaked immediately. And they're being surprised. So I have to
- 2:30:38Speaker 2: give it to Disney for like. they ate Christmas sales
- 2:30:43Speaker 2: by keeping that secret. And I'm like, that was a brave,
- 2:30:47Speaker 2: brave move.
- 2:30:47Speaker 3: That's a bold move. Especially for them.
- 2:30:51Speaker 2: Because that baby Yoda is the cutest thing ever. Even
- 2:30:56Speaker 2: Heartless Me, I saw that and went, oh man, that
- 2:30:59Speaker 2: is some cute stuff.
- 2:31:01Speaker 9: Well, I mean, I still haven't seen the show, but
- 2:31:05Speaker 9: I was like, yeah, I'll probably watch it at some point.
- 2:31:08Speaker 3: And then I saw the baby goat. I'm sorry, did
- 2:31:10Speaker 3: I just spoil that for you? No, no, no.
- 2:31:12Speaker 9: I think the internet has spoiled it. And that's like
- 2:31:16Speaker 9: the one spoiler that I'm like, I don't even care.
- 2:31:19Speaker 9: It's so adorable.
- 2:31:20Speaker 2: I mean, it really is.
- 2:31:22Speaker 3: And I've seen the footage of him eating the frog.
- 2:31:26Speaker 2: It is everything. And apparently that's an animatronic puppet.
- 2:31:30Speaker 3: Really, yeah. It is a physical thing.
- 2:31:33Speaker 2: Which apparently we owe to Werner Herzog because apparently... They
- 2:31:38Speaker 2: were doing two shots. They were going to do the
- 2:31:40Speaker 2: animatronic and then pull it out and do a CGI.
- 2:31:42Speaker 2: And he's like, you're a coward.
- 2:31:43Speaker 3: You're a coward.
- 2:31:45Speaker 9: He called his employers cowards.
- 2:31:47Speaker 3: I love that crazy fact. And again, it's Werner Herzog.
- 2:31:50Speaker 3: He can do whatever he wants. He's Werner Herzog.
- 2:31:53Speaker 2: All right, but I'm like, the cranky old man gave
- 2:31:56Speaker 2: you the truth you needed.
- 2:31:57Speaker 3: Well, and the fact that the cranky old man was like,
- 2:31:59Speaker 3: I love that cute little thing. You better put this
- 2:32:02Speaker 3: in here. Yeah. And he was right, though.
- 2:32:03Speaker 2: He is.
- 2:32:04Speaker 9: Yeah, I know.
- 2:32:05Speaker 3: He's always right.
- 2:32:06Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 2:32:06Speaker 3: He knows he's always right. He's Werner.
- 2:32:09Speaker 2: But again, that is the... And every little scene that
- 2:32:13Speaker 2: he's in, the little squeaks and moans and.
- 2:32:17Speaker 3: But the fact that he's a functional character is good too.
- 2:32:19Speaker 3: It's not just cutesy. They keep finding ways to actually
- 2:32:23Speaker 3: use him as part of the plot. And you do
- 2:32:25Speaker 3: see kind of like progression of who he's going to
- 2:32:28Speaker 3: be and the relationship between them. And yes, I think
- 2:32:32Speaker 3: it's functional. I've heard he can already use the Force.
- 2:32:35Speaker 3: He's trying. Sort of.
- 2:32:36Speaker 2: He's a baby he's trying and i think i think
- 2:32:39Speaker 2: that's also a pretty brave mood you know they have
- 2:32:42Speaker 2: announced the mandalorian show um they have danced around yoda
- 2:32:47Speaker 2: and then and.
- 2:32:47Speaker 3: The horrible yaddle that they introduced earlier on thankfully we
- 2:32:51Speaker 3: don't get yaddle in this.
- 2:32:52Speaker 2: Um but but that's a pretty again that's a novel
- 2:32:56Speaker 2: way to bring in something from left field that.
- 2:32:59Speaker 3: Again, recognizable, but not connected officially.
- 2:33:04Speaker 2: Right. And again, the fact that they're 900 years old, it's.
- 2:33:07Speaker 3: Like, well, okay.
- 2:33:10Speaker 2: And it leaves you wondering, well, where does this species
- 2:33:13Speaker 2: come from? Why is there a 50-year-old child? And it
- 2:33:16Speaker 2: also makes sense that, well, yes, if something like that existed,
- 2:33:20Speaker 2: the Empire might want to get their hands on it.
- 2:33:23Speaker 2: So all these things tied together, you just got to
- 2:33:26Speaker 2: think outside of the box.
- 2:33:29Speaker 14: Yeah.
- 2:33:30Speaker 3: I think that, again, I think that's the most promising
- 2:33:32Speaker 3: thing moving forward. So we'll wrap up on that. Go
- 2:33:37Speaker 3: watch Mandalorian.
- 2:33:40Speaker 2: And it's short. It's like 35, 40 minutes.
- 2:33:42Speaker 3: They're quick episodes. Yeah. They go by real quick. Yeah.
- 2:33:45Speaker 2: It actually, which honestly I think it's a hard thing
- 2:33:51Speaker 2: because I want more. Yeah. But it's a good thing
- 2:33:53Speaker 2: because I'm like, I'd rather end it wanting more.
- 2:33:55Speaker 9: Well, that's smart though on Disney's part because if they
- 2:33:58Speaker 9: keep you wanting more.
- 2:33:59Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 2:34:00Speaker 3: Again, not to overdo it too quickly. Again, learning things
- 2:34:05Speaker 3: as they go.
- 2:34:06Speaker 9: Let's pace ourselves.
- 2:34:07Speaker 3: It is a product for them. They want to make
- 2:34:10Speaker 3: money off of it.
- 2:34:12Speaker 9: Alright.
- 2:34:13Speaker 3: I think we've covered a few Star Wars topics. Otherwise,
- 2:34:17Speaker 3: that about does it. We will return next time. Same
- 2:34:19Speaker 3: geek feed. Thanks for listening.
- 2:34:22Speaker 10: A severed universe We've had to fight for far too
