- 0:002nd Corinthians Chapter 7 Let us pray.
- 0:08Our Lord, our God, our King, our Master, our Savior, our All in
- 0:14all, El Elyon, the Most High God Yahweh, from everlasting to
- 0:21everlasting, the only uncreated Lord, we lay down prostate like
- 0:28dead men at your feet. Lord, we worship you in spirit
- 0:33and truth today. God, we want a touch from you.
- 0:38Lord, we want to grab a hold of the hem of your garment and
- 0:44receive healing today. Healing over our past, healing
- 0:50over all of our emotional instabilities.
- 0:55God healing over all of the times that we were wrong,
- 1:02Healing over all the times that we were slighted.
- 1:06God and spoken down about. God, we desire healing today.
- 1:11God from all of our childhood traumas.
- 1:15God, we desire healing today from all of the wrong thinking
- 1:21about what is happening in the world today.
- 1:24God, let us get out of the negativity.
- 1:27Father, I pray that we can be found being completely saturated
- 1:35by the words that we hold in our hands.
- 1:38God, let this be our worldview today, Father and tomorrow and
- 1:43for the rest of our lives. God, let every insecurity fall
- 1:49off of us. Let all greed and malice fall
- 1:54off of us. God, let all of our hurts and
- 1:59hang ups and habits and addictions fall off of us.
- 2:04God, I pray mental illness, cancer.
- 2:08God, I pray epilepsy. Lord, leave in the name of Jesus
- 2:13Christ. God, I pray in the name of Jesus
- 2:18against Alzheimer's and dementia.
- 2:20God, let it leave. In the name of Jesus Christ, let
- 2:25all tormenting spirits in our lives be cast into the judgment.
- 2:31Lord, that you have a waiting for them.
- 2:34Father God, bind them in chains of everlasting darkness.
- 2:38God, I pray in the name of Jesus that we will ascend the hill and
- 2:44come up into the mountain of Transfiguration today, and let
- 2:49your Kingdom come to this earth just as it is there.
- 2:54God, I pray for strength right now for the church at large, the
- 2:58persecuted church all over the world, and God here in this
- 3:03land, I pray that we will humble ourselves and call upon your
- 3:09holy name. God, cleanse this land from all
- 3:13the innocent blood that has been shed upon it.
- 3:15God, I pray in the name of Jesus Christ for men and women to be
- 3:22sold out bondservants of your holy name.
- 3:28Lord, I pray that this word that we hold in our hands, that is
- 3:34alive and active, Lord, will shape US and change us for all
- 3:39of eternity. God, let us be useful in this
- 3:43day and this hour. Father, I pray for all of the
- 3:49children who are in the school systems.
- 3:51God, I pray against the indoctrination, Lord, of the
- 3:56doctrine of demons. Father, I pray right now, in the
- 4:00name of Jesus Christ, for righteous leaders to rise up in
- 4:04this land. Father, I pray God Almighty that
- 4:08the judeo-christian values God will be our highest law and
- 4:14order over this land. Father, I pray in the name of
- 4:18Jesus for all military personnel, God, and all law
- 4:21enforcement. Lord, I pray God for a hedge of
- 4:24protection around their lives. Lord, I pray that they are
- 4:28willing to spill their lives out, God, for their brother,
- 4:32which there is no greater love than that.
- 4:34And so, Father, I pray that you keep them in perfect peace in
- 4:39whatever situation that they find themselves in, God.
- 4:42And I pray that your will is done today, God, just as you
- 4:47have it there. Lord, I'm praying for daily
- 4:50bread. I'm praying for forgiveness,
- 4:52God, for ourselves and for us to extend that to others.
- 4:55God, I'm praying against deception, Lord, I'm praying
- 4:58against the tempter and the accuser of the brethren.
- 5:01God, I'm praying that you, Lord, will keep us from being
- 5:05deceived. Lord and God, we acknowledge
- 5:09that it is You and You alone who has all the power, that it is
- 5:15your Kingdom that is coming, Father, and You have already
- 5:20started to instill it and install it here on this earth.
- 5:26God through US. Let us be little Christ, Father,
- 5:34and let us bask in your glory today.
- 5:40Father, let us be seated there with you in heavenly places.
- 5:45Thank you for preparing a place for us.
- 5:47Thank you Jesus Christ for the shed blood on Calvary that made
- 5:51us white as snow. We love you Holy Spirit, come
- 5:55and teach us and guide us. I decrease as you increase in
- 6:01Jesus Christ. Holy and precious name I pray,
- 6:05Amen. Well, let's start in verse one.
- 6:13Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse
- 6:19ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting
- 6:25holiness in the fear of God. We need the fear of God today.
- 6:30Friends, if you will fear God, everything else will bow unto
- 6:38Him. Fear is the greatest motivator
- 6:43of the evil one, but he has been defanged and he has been
- 6:49declawed and all he has is a loud roar that will make the
- 6:53hair stand up on the back of your neck.
- 6:57And if you're not paying close attention, you won't notice that
- 7:01his teeth have been pulled out and his claws have been
- 7:05declawed. Friends, you need to understand
- 7:10that it is the fear of God that we need.
- 7:14We do not need to give in to the fear of the beast and the fear
- 7:19of death and the fear of what could happen.
- 7:25Let the fear of man go in the name of Jesus Christ.
- 7:29We fear God and God alone. And He says, work out your
- 7:34salvation with fear and trembling.
- 7:39And that is what is referenced here.
- 7:40Friends, this cleansing of the temple that we talked about in
- 7:44the last chapter, this cleansing of the temple is what He is
- 7:50after. To get rid of all worldliness,
- 7:55let go of filthiness, let go of all of the fleshly, carnal,
- 8:03natural thinking, and be filled the Spirit and be holy because
- 8:09he is holy. To receive us.
- 8:13We have wronged no man. We have corrupted no man, we
- 8:17have defrauded no man. So we're about to hear the heart
- 8:21of Paul when he's writing to the Corinthians and he's saying
- 8:25receive us when we come to you. Do not let a wedge be driven
- 8:30between the two of us. Do not give the devil a foothold
- 8:34by holding on to resentment, friends.
- 8:38Let it go. It's all washed in the blood of
- 8:42Jesus Christ. You need to understand what it
- 8:45means to forgive those. You need to understand what it
- 8:50is to be forgiven. Forgive yourself, friends.
- 8:56If you find somebody with a critical spirit, it is a sure
- 8:59sign of a backslidden Christian, and that is what you need to
- 9:03understand. Paul is asking for the
- 9:05Corinthian church, even though he has written to them very hard
- 9:09letters. He's saying, Receive me when I
- 9:12come unto you. But he has done no wrong to
- 9:15anybody. He has only spoken the mind of
- 9:17Christ to them. And whether they accepted it or
- 9:22not, it did not change the facts and the truth.
- 9:26That is what God thinks about those things.
- 9:29These are the infallible, inerrant, inspired words of God
- 9:33on these pages. And we need not call a single
- 9:36syllable into question. We need not try to reason out
- 9:41what is the plain meaning of Scripture.
- 9:43Friends. Three, I speak not this to
- 9:49condemn you, for I've said before that you are in our
- 9:55hearts to die and live with you. So Paul is saying that he would
- 10:01die for them, he would lay down his life for them.
- 10:05And he knows to live is Christ and to die is gain.
- 10:09And he's telling the Corinthians that he is wide open to them and
- 10:14they need to be wide open to him.
- 10:18For great is my boldness of speech towards you.
- 10:23Great is my glorying of you. I am filled with comfort.
- 10:29I am exceeding joyful in all our tribulation.
- 10:34So Paul can say, through all the trials and tribulation and the
- 10:38hardships and the cold nights and the hunger pains, and all
- 10:44the whippings and lashings and shipwrecks, he can count it all
- 10:48as joy, and he is exceedingly joyful with them.
- 10:55And it is if the Corinthians have gone through all of those
- 10:58things as well, because of the writings of Paul towards them
- 11:04are of great comforts. And we are benefited for all of
- 11:10eternity, for all of the things that Christ went through, all
- 11:14the prophets of old went through, for all of the other
- 11:18gospel writers and all of the epistles and the New Testament
- 11:22writers. We are the benefactors of all
- 11:25their persecutions and martyrdom, friends.
- 11:28And that is what is referenced here.
- 11:32We could be comforted by all the tribulations that those men had
- 11:35to go through. 54 When we were coming to Macedonia, our flesh
- 11:41had no rest, but we were troubled on every side.
- 11:45Outside were fighting's and within were fears.
- 11:49Paul's just being real. He's keeping it. 100 friends, He
- 11:54sang outside. Externally there was so much
- 11:57strife, and then internally we were having to battle out all
- 12:01the fears that were coming against us.
- 12:04Fear of death, fear of drowning, fear of imprisonment, fear of
- 12:12lack, fear of abandonment. And this calls for faith.
- 12:18And we have to let the faith rise, Friends.
- 12:21It is impossible to please God without faith.
- 12:24And in the middle of our persecution we let the faith
- 12:28rise up. Friends, faith over fear, faith
- 12:37over feelings. 6 Nevertheless, God that comforts those that are
- 12:44cast down, comforted us by the coming of Titus.
- 12:50We're going to get to see an epistle of Titus, and it is a
- 12:52wonderful letter written to us for our edification for the
- 12:56building up of the Saints. And Paul here understood the
- 13:02knowledge that Titus possessed, and he was greatly comforted by
- 13:06Titus's coming unto him. And God knew that he needed to
- 13:12send some new troops onto the battlefield, because his
- 13:19sergeants were getting beat down and discouraged in the fight.
- 13:24And a fresh wind and a fresh fire was brought into that camp
- 13:28through Titus 7 and not by his coming only, but by the
- 13:34consolation, where with he was comforted in you, when he told
- 13:39us your earnest desire, your mourning, your fervent mind
- 13:45towards me, so that I rejoice the more.
- 13:47So Titus brought the good news that the Corinthians were
- 13:51repentant, that the Corinthians had turned a corner, that the
- 13:56Corinthians had read Paul's hard letters and took them to heart
- 14:00and they actually put them into practice.
- 14:03Friends, it's not enough just to know what to do, but we must
- 14:07actually do those things. Friends, it's not enough to have
- 14:10head knowledge. We have to be practical.
- 14:13And blessed are the balanced. Blessed are the Mary's and the
- 14:16Martha's working together. And it must be worked out of us,
- 14:20friends, that we're not just filling our minds up with all
- 14:25the things of God, but we are actually practical in the
- 14:28application of going out into the harvest and scattering the
- 14:32seed. Friends. 8 For though I made you
- 14:41sorry with the letter, I do not repent.
- 14:45And though I did repent for I perceive that the same epistle
- 14:51has made you sorry though it were, but for a season.
- 14:56So he's saying that God disciplines those that he loves
- 15:00and Jesus Christ never had to ask for forgiveness.
- 15:03Paul here in his humanity, he was saying that he did repent of
- 15:12saying things that were too harsh to them, but he sees that
- 15:15it actually led to their repentance.
- 15:19And so therefore he's not sorry for the hard things that he said
- 15:23to him. And just remember that God will
- 15:26discipline those that he loves. And if he's not disciplining
- 15:29you, perhaps he has taken the lampstand from you.
- 15:37And this discipline is only for a season, and it leads to our
- 15:42sanctification, it leads to us being refined in the finer's
- 15:47fire, being tread out in the winepress, friends, and it
- 15:52produces perseverance and it produces the faith that we need
- 15:58for the journey. 9 Now I rejoice, not that you were made
- 16:03sorry, but that you sorrowed to repentance, for you were made
- 16:11sorry after a godly manner, that you might receive damage by us
- 16:16in nothing. So Paul is saying this godly
- 16:21sorrow has led to their repentance, friends, and that is
- 16:27what we need. We don't need to just be sorry
- 16:30that we got caught. We need to be grieved that we
- 16:38have broken the heart of God and that we have broken the
- 16:41communion with God and we have allowed the worldly, lustful
- 16:48idol worship into our lives. Friends, That the connection has
- 16:53been breached between headquarters and we're no longer
- 16:59receiving from God because we have grieved the Holy Spirit
- 17:03into silence. Friends, we have seared our
- 17:06conscience and that is what we should be sorrowful unto
- 17:11repentance. Friends, it's not just that we
- 17:14got caught and we're about to lose our mate, or lose our job,
- 17:18or lose our reputation or lose our dignity.
- 17:22Friends, we need to be sorry that we have broken the heart of
- 17:27God. 10 For godly sorrow works repentance to salvation, not to
- 17:43be repented of, but the sorrow of the world works death.
- 17:47There are many who are so sorrowful that they got caught
- 17:54that they actually exterminate their own lives because they
- 18:00cannot take the pressure of being found out and being on
- 18:07display for all of their wicked schemes.
- 18:12But godly sorrow leads us to repentance, which flows in to
- 18:20salvation. Friends, And we need to
- 18:24understand that. We need to understand that God
- 18:27will prick our hearts, that the Holy Spirit will speak to us in
- 18:32a still small voice, and He will let us know every single time
- 18:36that we break the heart of God. And then we have the choice as
- 18:41to listen to that voice, or harden our hearts, as in the
- 18:45days of rebellion which will lead us into death. 11 For
- 18:54behold this self, same thing that you sorrowed after a godly
- 19:00sort. What carefulness it wrought in
- 19:04you. Yeah, what clearing of
- 19:06yourselves? Yeah, what indignation?
- 19:09Yeah, what fear? Yeah, what vehement desire?
- 19:14Yeah, what zeal? Yeah, what revenge in all
- 19:20things. You have approved yourselves to
- 19:23be clear in this matter. So we can see what repentance
- 19:30will bring about in our lives, friends, if we will have godly
- 19:35repentance, if we will confess our sins to a holy God, and if
- 19:40we will turn away from them and turn away from selfish desires
- 19:46and carnal pleasures, and we will turn back to a holy God, we
- 19:52will find the clearing of our consciences.
- 19:58We will find that indignation leaves.
- 20:02We will find that fear goes. We will find that our desire
- 20:06will be vehement towards Him and not towards our lustful,
- 20:11youthful desires. We'll find zeal that consumes us
- 20:15for His holy habitation, the temple of God.
- 20:19And we will find that we will revenge evil by the showering of
- 20:28the good news of Jesus Christ. We will take the good news into
- 20:33all arenas, friends, not scared to lose our lives.
- 20:36And we will tear down all the strongholds.
- 20:41And we'll, we will attack it in the same way that we were
- 20:45attacked. And the violent take the Kingdom
- 20:48of God by force, Friends. What revenge against all evil?
- 20:53Whenever we finally come to our senses, when we finally are
- 20:56being used for godly matters, you will find that you hate the
- 21:02things of sin that tear apart families and tear apart lives.
- 21:08We will hate those things, friends. 12 Wherefore, though I
- 21:17wrote unto you, I did it not for his, 'cause that had done the
- 21:23wrong, not for his 'cause that suffered wrong, but that our
- 21:27care for you in the sight of God might appear unto you.
- 21:32So you can see here that there was someone in the church that
- 21:35was involved in an incestual relationship.
- 21:38And Paul rebuked them in his first letter to the Corinthians.
- 21:44And here they have repented. They have kicked him out.
- 21:47And then Paul wrote his writing to them now telling them to
- 21:50reinstitute that man. And he's saying that he did it
- 21:54for their clear consciences so that they would not be a tool of
- 21:58the enemy over this man's life. And it serves as a witness and
- 22:03as an example for us. For all time's sake, for all of
- 22:07eternity, friends, heaven and earth shall pass away.
- 22:10But not one of his words, not one jot, not one title, friends.
- 22:19And we need God to appear among us and to fill us with the Holy
- 22:26Ghost. 13 Therefore we were comforted in your comfort.
- 22:30Yeah, and exceedingly the more joyed we for the joy of Titus
- 22:37because his spirit was refreshed by you all.
- 22:40We can see that the Corinthian church was repentant, this godly
- 22:45repentance, and Paul was refreshed in his spirit and so
- 22:49was Titus, friends. And that is what we need to
- 22:52understand is that all of heaven rejoices over 1 Sinner who sees
- 22:58his need for repentance. And it is a great refreshing to
- 23:05the ministers and the pastors and all those that are
- 23:08shepherding flocks, when they see one person who sees their
- 23:13need for repentance. 14 For if I have boasted anything to him of
- 23:20you, I am not ashamed. But as we spoke all things to
- 23:25you in truth, Even so our boasting which I made before
- 23:28Titus is found a truth. So he's saying all the things
- 23:33that I was boasting about to Titus about you have become
- 23:40true, that you have made good on the investment that I made there
- 23:52whenever I was traveling and when I called together a body of
- 23:58believers, and whenever Paul placed the Apostolic authority
- 24:05over them. And then how they started up a
- 24:09church. And then the enemy crept in and
- 24:13Paul kept fighting for them. He believed that they would
- 24:17persevere, and they have now. And now his joy is made
- 24:21complete. 15 And his inward affection is more abundant
- 24:31towards you, while he remembered the obedience of you all, how
- 24:36with fear and trembling you received Him.
- 24:40This is what it means to work out our salvation with fear and
- 24:43trembling. We cannot just ride in on the
- 24:46coattails of yesterday's victory.
- 24:57We must come to the Lord every single day and make a commitment
- 25:03unto Him to serve Him and to serve Him with all of our heart
- 25:08and all of our mind and all of our strength so that we are not
- 25:12LED astray, so that we are not deceived.
- 25:15We cannot just put this thing on cruise control, friends.
- 25:20Every single day we have to make a decision to be used for godly
- 25:28matters and not to be deceived by all of our carnal worldly
- 25:34thinkings and reasonings. And you cannot approach God from
- 25:38a moralistic way. He will tear all of that down.
- 25:42Friends, if you want God to behave in a way that you think
- 25:46that He should, He will not behave that way and you will be
- 25:49offended and fall away. And that is why we come to Him
- 25:52every single day and we empty ourselves of all of our own
- 25:58thinking's and all of the ways we think things should go.
- 26:01And we just say yes and Amen to all the revealed will of God.
- 26:05And He will be well pleased to reveal to you the unrevealed
- 26:08things that are not written here, and they will all line up
- 26:13with scripture. Every single bit of the
- 26:16unrevealed will of God for your life and for the world at large
- 26:20will all line up and be congruent with the revealed will
- 26:24of God, from Genesis to Malik to Revelation.
- 26:28Friends, we'll end on 16. I rejoice, therefore, that I
- 26:37have confidence in you in all things.
- 26:43Is Christ rejoicing in you that you have confidence in Him for
- 26:49all things? Friends, that is the question
- 26:53you need to ask yourself. Are you still playing both
- 26:56sides? Are you lukewarm?
- 26:59Do you not see your need for repentance?
- 27:03Do you think you've got it all together and you've arrived
- 27:05somehow? Far be it from us.
- 27:11Ask God to reveal to you the things that you've stuffed down
- 27:15and seared your conscience over, and allow the Holy Spirit to dig
- 27:20those things out and allow God Almighty to pour salt on them
- 27:26and purify the pus and to get rid of all the things that are
- 27:30holding you back from experiencing the fullness that
- 27:33He desires for your life. Let His light shine through the
- 27:39magnifying glass and burn all the dross out of your life so
- 27:45that you can be light and salt to those everywhere that you go
- 27:49in. The Word of God is an offense to
- 27:52those that are perishing friends and it sounds ignorant to those
- 28:00that are choosing this world over God.
- 28:03Do not be surprised when you were ridiculed and kicked down
- 28:07and persecuted for propagating A beaten Jewish man who was raised
- 28:15to life on the third day. Count the cost before you ever
- 28:19go out on the harvest. Be filled with Him before you
- 28:23ever go out in the harvest. Don't play both sides.
- 28:30Hope you've been blessed by this amazing chapter in God's Word.
- 28:34I know I sure have. I'm praying for you.
- 28:46God loves you, so do I. We will see you back here
- 28:53tomorrow.
