- 0:05Speaker 2: Say Hester and Hester.
- 0:07Speaker 1: From carrying each other to and Natty to carrying each
- 0:11Speaker 1: other on the air live from the Mercedes Benz Baton
- 0:19Speaker 1: Rouge Studio.
- 0:21Speaker 3: It's off the bench, all right, welcome back in our
- 0:40Speaker 3: number three O t V one, O four five, ESPN
- 0:43Speaker 3: Baton Rouge. Gonna catch up here with Ryan McGhee ESPN
- 0:47Speaker 3: SEC Network here in hopefully a couple of minutes, and
- 0:51Speaker 3: gonna you know, continue to break down the matchups there
- 0:54Speaker 3: in omahall. But one of the things Ryan does such
- 0:56Speaker 3: a fantastic job of is really painting the picture and
- 1:00Speaker 3: doing a deep dive into the details of like wherever
- 1:04Speaker 3: he's going, whatever he's covering there. So looking forward to
- 1:07Speaker 3: that and let's go ahead and get into it now.
- 1:10Speaker 3: Ryan McGee, my guy, joins the show. What's up, sir,
- 1:12Speaker 3: how we doing.
- 1:14Speaker 2: We're good, We're busy, you know, Benzy's good and it's
- 1:18Speaker 2: time to get on with it. Man. It's I spend
- 1:21Speaker 2: you know, I'm really fortunate I got this ridiculous work calendar,
- 1:24Speaker 2: and you know everybody else does Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter or
- 1:28Speaker 2: whatever I do, National Championship, Daytona five and five Omaha,
- 1:33Speaker 2: So it's time time to get on with it.
- 1:35Speaker 3: Absolutely, man, And you just dropped another great article road
- 1:39Speaker 3: to Omaha, how the Men's College World Series became a
- 1:42Speaker 3: town's pride and joy.
- 1:44Speaker 4: It's on ESPN dot com. Now go check that out.
- 1:47Speaker 3: And one of the reasons, man, Ryan, I want to
- 1:49Speaker 3: have you on because you do such a great job
- 1:52Speaker 3: of just detailing and explaining like what this event means
- 1:55Speaker 3: to Omaha. And you just laid out like what you
- 1:57Speaker 3: get to do, and and look, you and I are
- 1:59Speaker 3: very unfortunate and we get to do very very cool
- 2:02Speaker 3: stuff like that. But like Omaha, when you go there,
- 2:05Speaker 3: like it does feel different, Like it feels like a
- 2:07Speaker 3: place that is special. It feels like everybody there is
- 2:11Speaker 3: just so happy to be there. Where would you put
- 2:13Speaker 3: Omaha in all the experiences that you get to have
- 2:16Speaker 3: throughout the sports calendar. Where would you place Omaha kind
- 2:19Speaker 3: of in the pecking order there?
- 2:21Speaker 2: Man, It's tough, but just personally, like emotionally, it's my
- 2:26Speaker 2: favorite event. Yeah, And there's a lot of reasons for that.
- 2:29Speaker 2: I mean, I grew up you know this. I grew
- 2:31Speaker 2: up in the Triangle in North Carolina, Raleigh, and you
- 2:35Speaker 2: know that's a college area. And so I grew up
- 2:37Speaker 2: and my dad played college baseball East Carolina. Ye, And
- 2:40Speaker 2: so I grew up going to college baseball games at
- 2:43Speaker 2: NC State and UNC and you know East Carolina wake
- 2:47Speaker 2: Forest Duke, and there'd be fifteen people there. It'd be me,
- 2:51Speaker 2: my dad, my brother, like some girlfriends and the players
- 2:54Speaker 2: and a couple of scouts. That's it.
- 2:56Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 2:56Speaker 2: And you know, I'm sitting watching Duke in North Carolina
- 2:59Speaker 2: Super Regionals, and so I would just I would hear
- 3:02Speaker 2: about alex Box Stadium and I would see you know, uh,
- 3:07Speaker 2: you know obviously Rosenblat Stadium on ESPN, and just it
- 3:10Speaker 2: all just felt so giant. And so my dad and
- 3:14Speaker 2: I first got to go to the Caberal Series together
- 3:17Speaker 2: twenty five years ago. It was Father's Ay weekend. It
- 3:19Speaker 2: was perfect, and so I wasn't there working. I was
- 3:22Speaker 2: there as a fan. My dad and I went several
- 3:24Speaker 2: years in a row, and I've been almost every year
- 3:27Speaker 2: since and getting paid for it, and I just it
- 3:30Speaker 2: just feels different. I mean, LSU fans know that because
- 3:32Speaker 2: they're a huge part of it, and you know which
- 3:34Speaker 2: is just it's like homecoming. It really is. You go
- 3:37Speaker 2: there and if you've been once or if you've been
- 3:40Speaker 2: twenty times, you know, like like lsu Has you know
- 3:43Speaker 2: the guy at the hotel, right, and you know the
- 3:45Speaker 2: bus driver, and you know the people at the drover
- 3:49Speaker 2: of the steakhouse, and you just it's people at the stadium.
- 3:51Speaker 2: It's just it's homecoming. And that's why I love us
- 3:53Speaker 2: so much.
- 3:54Speaker 3: And not a lot of times like can you survive
- 3:56Speaker 3: you know, changing things up when you have an event
- 3:59Speaker 3: like go but there was a new stadium and I
- 4:01Speaker 3: remember being worried, like, oh Man Rosenblat is like so
- 4:04Speaker 3: iconic and like all my childhood memories of watching and
- 4:08Speaker 3: Warren Morris in the home run against Miami, like are
- 4:10Speaker 3: you gonna lose that? They've done a really nice job
- 4:13Speaker 3: ran of still being able to keep that same magic
- 4:16Speaker 3: even though they're in you know, a newer kind of
- 4:18Speaker 3: state of the art facility there, which is not always
- 4:20Speaker 3: easy to do.
- 4:22Speaker 2: No, and in the first couple of years was tough. Yeah,
- 4:26Speaker 2: you know the you know, they turned the stadium for
- 4:29Speaker 2: this beautiful view of the city, but the problem is
- 4:31Speaker 2: wind blows in that way, right, So there's no home runs,
- 4:34Speaker 2: and you know in the ballpark's very you know, Rosenblat
- 4:37Speaker 2: was quirky, but but you know this too, man, Rosenblat
- 4:41Speaker 2: was the best. I missed it. I have a seat
- 4:43Speaker 2: in my house, you know, I go up to the
- 4:46Speaker 2: site and if folks don't know, you can go to
- 4:47Speaker 2: the Rosenblat site and there's home plates there, Warren Morris's,
- 4:52Speaker 2: you know, right field Falpole still there. It's all still
- 4:54Speaker 2: there in the parking lot. And it's great. But I
- 4:57Speaker 2: was worried about the new ballpark, and the first couple
- 4:59Speaker 2: of years were great. But now all the neighborhood has
- 5:01Speaker 2: grown in around the ballpark, and you know, downtown Omaha
- 5:05Speaker 2: has become really what Thirteenth Street the area around Rose
- 5:09Speaker 2: Black used to be. And so we've grown into the place.
- 5:12Speaker 2: And now it's got its moment, right I mean now,
- 5:14Speaker 2: I mean the lsu Ight Forest game in some of
- 5:16Speaker 2: my finals was three years. That's the best game ever
- 5:18Speaker 2: been to in my life, maybe the best sport of
- 5:20Speaker 2: it ever been to. And so now it has these moments,
- 5:23Speaker 2: and it has its champions, and it has all these things,
- 5:26Speaker 2: and so it's grown up. I was worried about it too,
- 5:29Speaker 2: and quite frankly, so were the people of Omaha. You know,
- 5:31Speaker 2: to Aha, they want to build that stadium. NCAA was like,
- 5:34Speaker 2: you to build a new stadium or we're out right,
- 5:36Speaker 2: And so to the mayor's credit at the time, even
- 5:39Speaker 2: though he just got crushed by the public, it was
- 5:41Speaker 2: the right thing to do. And now, yeah, I still
- 5:43Speaker 2: we all still call it the new Ballpark. And that
- 5:46Speaker 2: thing opened in twenty eleven, right, I mean it's got
- 5:49Speaker 2: it's got almost almost a decade and a half end.
- 5:51Speaker 2: So yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 5:57Speaker 3: You know, and I love the fact that it's in
- 5:59Speaker 3: the same spot every year, and we we you know,
- 6:03Speaker 3: we cover events like the National Championship, and I'm not
- 6:05Speaker 3: going to call names, but there's some places that it
- 6:07Speaker 3: feels more of, Hey, I am here.
- 6:10Speaker 4: For the National Championship.
- 6:12Speaker 3: There's some places we go to and it's like, does
- 6:14Speaker 3: anybody in this town know that the National Championship is
- 6:17Speaker 3: being played in this stadium coming up in a couple
- 6:20Speaker 3: of days, right, But I think when you have it
- 6:23Speaker 3: in this you know, I don't wanst say it's not
- 6:24Speaker 3: small town. It's not a small town, but you know
- 6:26Speaker 3: what I'm saying, it's like this town that cares so
- 6:29Speaker 3: deeply about having this event and they cater everything to
- 6:33Speaker 3: this event. Right, Oklahoma City does it for the Women's
- 6:36Speaker 3: College World Series. I understand moving things around, the dollars
- 6:39Speaker 3: and cents of it, but Ryan, when something is constant
- 6:42Speaker 3: and it's there and the people care so much about it,
- 6:45Speaker 3: even if you don't have a dog in the fight,
- 6:47Speaker 3: you can go to that event and you can appreciate
- 6:50Speaker 3: everything is put into the event seventy five.
- 6:53Speaker 2: Years that it's been at Almah, which is crazy. And
- 6:56Speaker 2: so listen to the greatest sporting events in my mind,
- 7:00Speaker 2: and are the ones where you can't separate the city
- 7:05Speaker 2: or the town from the event and vice versa. So
- 7:08Speaker 2: you know, it's you can't imagine the Rose Bowl anywhere
- 7:11Speaker 2: other than passing it. You can't imagine the Masters anywhere
- 7:15Speaker 2: of it. Augusta, you can't imagine. I mean, it's the
- 7:17Speaker 2: Indianapolis five hundred, It's the Daytona five hundred, right, I mean,
- 7:21Speaker 2: so you just when you can't separate it, you know
- 7:24Speaker 2: it's important. And that's why I think that that it
- 7:27Speaker 2: won't ever move. And part of the reason for that
- 7:30Speaker 2: is the end the people of the Ncuba they love
- 7:33Speaker 2: it as much as the people in Omaha. I remember,
- 7:35Speaker 2: I wrote my New York Times worst selling book, you know,
- 7:37Speaker 2: back in two thousand and nine. I wrote Omaha, and
- 7:39Speaker 2: one of the whole chapters was the insurance Man in
- 7:42Speaker 2: the Pope. And it was Denny Pope, who was the
- 7:46Speaker 2: baseball administrator for the n Cuba forever, a great football
- 7:49Speaker 2: player at Missouri. And then it was you know, Jack Deeson,
- 7:53Speaker 2: whose father founded you know, the hometown corporation that runs
- 7:57Speaker 2: the Omaha side of the caulderwal series. And now he
- 8:00Speaker 2: runs it and one day his daughter will run it. Yeah,
- 8:02Speaker 2: and they're like brothers, you know, their kids, babies at
- 8:05Speaker 2: each other, you know, and so you just it's just family.
- 8:08Speaker 2: It's just just the best way to describe it. And
- 8:10Speaker 2: I don't think that even though it's definitely more corporate
- 8:13Speaker 2: and it's definitely downtown versus being in the meat packer
- 8:15Speaker 2: neighborhood where it used to be Rosenblat, it still has
- 8:18Speaker 2: that feeling. And you can't again, you can't separate them.
- 8:21Speaker 2: You can't imagine one without the other. And I mean, listen,
- 8:25Speaker 2: we're living in this kind this wacko time where money
- 8:28Speaker 2: runs everything. I get it, But I think that's part
- 8:31Speaker 2: of why, even if you don't have a team in
- 8:33Speaker 2: the series, you go because it kind of taps into
- 8:38Speaker 2: what we all love about college sports. It's one of
- 8:41Speaker 2: the last places left, like Oklahoma City and the Women's
- 8:44Speaker 2: College wal Series, one of the last lite stuff where
- 8:45Speaker 2: you go and you're like, all right, this is what
- 8:48Speaker 2: college sports is supposed to fill at right.
- 8:50Speaker 4: Yeah, I agree wholeheardly with you.
- 8:52Speaker 3: And it's one of the many things that makes it special,
- 8:55Speaker 3: Like another part of the College World Series that I
- 8:58Speaker 3: always enjoy. And look if las who's in it, come on, Like,
- 9:02Speaker 3: I'm not gonna act like I'm not rooting for my Tigers,
- 9:04Speaker 3: but like also when a team like Murray State makes it,
- 9:07Speaker 3: and you know, we've seen teams make runs before me
- 9:10Speaker 3: and Fresno State finished the deal in two thousand and
- 9:13Speaker 3: eight Coastal Carolina.
- 9:14Speaker 4: The run that they go on.
- 9:16Speaker 3: I mean, it's one of the best parts about college
- 9:18Speaker 3: baseball is because like we get these Cinderella teams that
- 9:21Speaker 3: just get hot and they find a way and they're
- 9:24Speaker 3: throwing eighty eight on the mound in not ninety six,
- 9:26Speaker 3: but it's working for them, and they got the ultimate belief.
- 9:29Speaker 4: Like this Murray State team.
- 9:30Speaker 3: I know that you have to, you know, kind of
- 9:33Speaker 3: enjoy kind of getting ready to cover them. I mean,
- 9:35Speaker 3: the coach is still mowing his own grass. He was
- 9:38Speaker 3: only making two years ago sixty eight thousand dollars to
- 9:41Speaker 3: be the head baseball coach there, and even with the
- 9:44Speaker 3: bump and pay he got, it is not even a
- 9:46Speaker 3: fraction of what some of these other coaches are making.
- 9:49Speaker 3: Like what a great story Murray State is. And Murray
- 9:52Speaker 3: State's had moments in other sports, but for the first
- 9:55Speaker 3: time their baseball program gets to the College World Series.
- 9:58Speaker 2: And it's perfect that in this seventy fifth anniversary of
- 10:03Speaker 2: the series in Omaha, that there that Murray State then,
- 10:05Speaker 2: because if you know your history of the series, there's
- 10:08Speaker 2: almost always one team, I mean almost everything. That last
- 10:12Speaker 2: year was the all where it was all SEC versus
- 10:14Speaker 2: all ACC And that's fine, and it's certainly great for
- 10:17Speaker 2: business if you're the co host of Martin McGee, right,
- 10:19Speaker 2: I mean, but but I kind of was sad because
- 10:24Speaker 2: you want but almost every single year, right Stonybrook, just
- 10:28Speaker 2: a couple of years ago, Fans to this day talk
- 10:32Speaker 2: about when the Citadel made it and upset the number
- 10:36Speaker 2: one team in the nation in the College World Series,
- 10:38Speaker 2: and that was thirty forty years ago. And so I
- 10:40Speaker 2: mean you go back to the history of it and
- 10:42Speaker 2: its main in Hawaii and Harvard, and you know, even
- 10:47Speaker 2: Southern Myss who's always had a great baseball program and
- 10:49Speaker 2: had never made to Omaha. There's always there's always one
- 10:53Speaker 2: almost every single year. And so I was glad Murray
- 10:56Speaker 2: State made it, and I hope they make a little noise,
- 10:58Speaker 2: And yeah, I don't. I don't root against teams, you know,
- 11:01Speaker 2: I stay neutral, But there was and I got a
- 11:04Speaker 2: lot of friends who work at Duke, but there was
- 11:07Speaker 2: definitely a part of me that wanted Murray State to
- 11:09Speaker 2: win that game oney night, just because I wanted an
- 11:11Speaker 2: underdog at the Caudal too.
- 11:12Speaker 4: And yeah, no, I mean, I'm right there with you.
- 11:14Speaker 4: It's like, I got nothing against do it.
- 11:15Speaker 3: I'm the same way, like I know people that worked
- 11:17Speaker 3: there and and different athletic departments, was like, how do
- 11:20Speaker 3: you not root for what Murray State's trying to do
- 11:23Speaker 3: right now? In the path right and that they went through,
- 11:25Speaker 3: I mean not just old missing Oxford, I mean Georgia
- 11:27Speaker 3: Tech had a real case to be a regional host
- 11:30Speaker 3: as well, and they go through them. I mean they
- 11:32Speaker 3: were not given anything too, which makes it even you know,
- 11:34Speaker 3: that much better. I think in the fact that who
- 11:36Speaker 3: they had to go through, they earned the right to
- 11:38Speaker 3: be there.
- 11:39Speaker 2: Yeah, there's a good question about it. And and they
- 11:41Speaker 2: you can't take the road they're taking. It's funny talking
- 11:44Speaker 2: to my friends down at All Miss they were all
- 11:48Speaker 2: rooting for Murray State because the team that you lose to,
- 11:52Speaker 2: you want them to at least make it to Omaha. Right,
- 11:54Speaker 2: you don't want you don't want to lose to them.
- 11:56Speaker 2: And then they go to Duke and get swept. Right,
- 12:00Speaker 2: that's the beauty of it. And man, let's say something. Yeah,
- 12:03Speaker 2: I understand there are people that have kind of got
- 12:05Speaker 2: their nose been out of shape because it's LSU in
- 12:07Speaker 2: Arkansas in the first round and the only two SEC
- 12:10Speaker 2: teams that dude, Saturday night in Omaha, and you've given
- 12:16Speaker 2: all those art to me. The two most fun ballparks
- 12:21Speaker 2: in the nation to go see a game are Bob
- 12:23Speaker 2: Walker and Fable and the Box. And now you take
- 12:27Speaker 2: those fans and you put them all in a bunch
- 12:30Speaker 2: of pickup trucks and drop them to Omaha, and you
- 12:33Speaker 2: give them all day to get lubricated, and now we're
- 12:36Speaker 2: gonna play a game, baseball game. It's gonna be I'm
- 12:39Speaker 2: so mad because I don't. I don't go till next
- 12:41Speaker 2: week I go. I'd always go in for the second half.
- 12:44Speaker 4: Yea, right, Yeah, it's a long trip.
- 12:46Speaker 2: Yeah yeah. But and so the one year I convinced
- 12:49Speaker 2: them to let me go for the for the opening
- 12:51Speaker 2: weekend a few years ago, the morning I left was
- 12:54Speaker 2: the morning the North Chrona state popped every COVID test
- 12:57Speaker 2: and stayed in Nebraska. And so I was like, soose,
- 13:00Speaker 2: So you know, I'm stuck in North Carolina. So they
- 13:01Speaker 2: were like no, no, no, no, You're going for the championship.
- 13:03Speaker 2: But yeah, but it's but the atmosphere on Saturday night
- 13:06Speaker 2: is going to be off chart, and this will not
- 13:09Speaker 2: be the last time that these two teams play in
- 13:12Speaker 2: this tournament.
- 13:14Speaker 4: I'm right there with you.
- 13:15Speaker 3: I mean, I actually just got chills thinking about it,
- 13:17Speaker 3: like I would be in that number. That number is
- 13:20Speaker 3: going to be loud. It is going to be two.
- 13:23Speaker 3: I think I agree with you. I think like you
- 13:25Speaker 3: throw Mississippi State in there, like whatever rotation you want.
- 13:28Speaker 3: Three best fan bases in college football. Two of them
- 13:30Speaker 3: playing against each other. Yeah, rivals, I mean opening you
- 13:34Speaker 3: know night for them in the College World Series prime time.
- 13:36Speaker 3: Oh my gosh, that's going to be an electric, electric
- 13:39Speaker 3: atmosphere there. Any other like another, any other games, any
- 13:44Speaker 3: other teams kind of catching your interest there because I
- 13:47Speaker 3: can't get away from Coastal Carolina, even though like they
- 13:50Speaker 3: have already won a national championship. They're on the scene,
- 13:53Speaker 3: they're you know, they've turned themselves into a blue blood
- 13:55Speaker 3: of college baseball. For as much as you possibly can
- 13:58Speaker 3: you win a national championship, you're consistent.
- 14:00Speaker 4: I'm going to give you that title.
- 14:02Speaker 3: But something still feels like little disrespect whenever Coastal's brought
- 14:07Speaker 3: up because they play in the Sun Belt, people don't
- 14:09Speaker 3: understand it's a really good baseball conference. And so Coastal
- 14:12Speaker 3: is a team too that you went over fifty games.
- 14:15Speaker 3: I think that's a team in bracket number one to
- 14:17Speaker 3: I hustle a little bit.
- 14:19Speaker 2: They had a loss of a month, a last state
- 14:22Speaker 2: baseball game in a month, and so coach Shnall, who
- 14:26Speaker 2: was a catcher there and played for so folks that
- 14:30Speaker 2: don't know I wrote a huge story about him a
- 14:32Speaker 2: year ago. But Gary Gilmore was the head coach at Coastal.
- 14:35Speaker 2: He's the one that led them to the national championship
- 14:37Speaker 2: at twenty sixteen, and coach Gilmour retired at the end
- 14:40Speaker 2: of last season. At the end of during the NCLA Tournament,
- 14:44Speaker 2: battling two different forms of cancer simultaneously, one of the
- 14:47Speaker 2: all time great guys I've ever known in college sports,
- 14:52Speaker 2: and he called coach Schnall and said, I need you
- 14:54Speaker 2: to come home and take over of this program. And
- 14:56Speaker 2: all he did is getting into the College World Series
- 14:58Speaker 2: in his first year. And he was so so chippy
- 15:01Speaker 2: last weekend after they clinched their spots, saying, this team
- 15:05Speaker 2: is not a Cinderella. Everybody needs to get over that
- 15:07Speaker 2: because the reality was I thought this should have been
- 15:09Speaker 2: a top eight theeyeh, I really did believe that. Kyle
- 15:13Speaker 2: Peterston and I said that on our pre tournament special
- 15:16Speaker 2: in ESPN. We said, I don't understand why they're not
- 15:18Speaker 2: a top top eight seed, a national seed, and so
- 15:20Speaker 2: for them to be there, it is not a surprise
- 15:22Speaker 2: if you actually follow college baseball. But it's a great
- 15:24Speaker 2: story and I am I'm not gonna lie and tell
- 15:28Speaker 2: you that I've watched a lot of Oregon State baseball
- 15:30Speaker 2: this year, but this is the team that's won three
- 15:32Speaker 2: national championships, you know, in this century. And they have
- 15:36Speaker 2: four or five guys with double digit home runs like
- 15:40Speaker 2: and they have you know that their their shortstop is
- 15:42Speaker 2: probably going to be the highest pick college baseball player
- 15:45Speaker 2: in the draft next one. So it's it is, there
- 15:48Speaker 2: is so much talent in this thing. And all right
- 15:50Speaker 2: to that point too, you Oregon State, you have Arizona,
- 15:55Speaker 2: and you have UCLA all in the College Rule Series.
- 15:58Speaker 2: They were all in the Pac twelve what a year
- 16:00Speaker 2: and a half ago. Yeah, And it's just it just
- 16:03Speaker 2: adds to the frustration to the entire West coast of
- 16:06Speaker 2: what are we doing? You know? And you've got one
- 16:09Speaker 2: team in Oregon State that's in the pack too, you know,
- 16:12Speaker 2: that's about to become a bigger conference. It's so weird
- 16:15Speaker 2: seeing them play with a big PAC twelve logo in
- 16:17Speaker 2: their backstop. And then you've got UCLA, who's in the
- 16:19Speaker 2: has a chance to win the Big Tens, first Cultural
- 16:21Speaker 2: Series since nineteen sixty six. And then you got Arizona,
- 16:26Speaker 2: who is a who's an Omaha blue blood and they're
- 16:28Speaker 2: playing out of Big twelve. It's just I just don't
- 16:31Speaker 2: see how the Pack twelve people sleep at night because
- 16:33Speaker 2: they have just burned this thing to the ground and
- 16:36Speaker 2: they could be dominating the Couderal Series this year.
- 16:39Speaker 4: You're right, you're exactly.
- 16:40Speaker 3: I mean, they would have three teams and it yeah,
- 16:43Speaker 3: it is man Oregon State story. And then you know
- 16:46Speaker 3: they have been left lonely on the dance floor because
- 16:49Speaker 3: at least those other teams did find like a major
- 16:51Speaker 3: conference to go to. I mean, Oregon State playing an
- 16:54Speaker 3: independent schedule, like that's like in football that it's kind
- 16:57Speaker 3: it's difficult, but you can find a way to find
- 16:59Speaker 3: some games. Obviously they're Dame's in it for a long time.
- 17:02Speaker 3: Yukon's going through it right now. But like once conference
- 17:06Speaker 3: play starts in baseball, like those teams are playing, but
- 17:09Speaker 3: they had to find somebody that might happen to be
- 17:11Speaker 3: off and they had to go to them. They played
- 17:13Speaker 3: like seventy eight percent of their games like on the
- 17:16Speaker 3: road as a national blue blood college baseball program. Like
- 17:20Speaker 3: that's just wild to me.
- 17:22Speaker 2: Now, and it made it work, and I give them
- 17:24Speaker 2: a lot of credit. I really Then in Washington State
- 17:27Speaker 2: both in every sport of putting this thing together. While
- 17:30Speaker 2: they are managed that they're also overseeing this, you know,
- 17:34Speaker 2: this reconstruction of the Pack twelve. But it's just for
- 17:37Speaker 2: folks that don't know. Forever the College Would Series was
- 17:42Speaker 2: dominated by the Pack back then the Pack eighth, even
- 17:46Speaker 2: West Coast Conference originally, and it was you know, USC
- 17:49Speaker 2: still holds the record for the most titles. Everyone won
- 17:51Speaker 2: a long time, but they still hold a record. You know, Arizona,
- 17:54Speaker 2: Arizona State, cal State Fullarton, you know, all these California schools, Pepperdine, Stanford, California,
- 18:02Speaker 2: and Arizona dominated the College World Series no matter what
- 18:05Speaker 2: conference they were from for decades. And so it always
- 18:09Speaker 2: makes me a little sad when there's this. There's a
- 18:11Speaker 2: big map that's in the the what the call of
- 18:14Speaker 2: baseball village next to the ballparks, all the souvenir stands
- 18:17Speaker 2: and be a beer garden off, but there's this big
- 18:20Speaker 2: map that shows where every one of the eight schools
- 18:23Speaker 2: of that year series is from. And again, it's great
- 18:27Speaker 2: for me, it's great for Marty McGee when when the
- 18:30Speaker 2: SEC dominates the lineup, but I don't think it's great
- 18:32Speaker 2: for college baseball. And when I look at that map
- 18:36Speaker 2: and it's got three or four teams from west of the Mississippi,
- 18:39Speaker 2: that's great for the sport. And this year, this year,
- 18:42Speaker 2: that map is the most evenly distributed that it has
- 18:45Speaker 2: been in a really, really long time. And again it's
- 18:48Speaker 2: not great for the SEC co host of the show
- 18:51Speaker 2: me but but it's but it's pretty good for college
- 18:54Speaker 2: baseball as a whole a.
- 18:55Speaker 3: Case, right right, I am right there with you. I
- 18:58Speaker 3: totally agree. This year it feels right all right. He
- 19:01Speaker 3: is Ryan McGee good enough to join us ESPN SEC Network,
- 19:04Speaker 3: Marty and McGee does it all. Also ESPN dot Com
- 19:08Speaker 3: Road to omahall how the men's College World Series became
- 19:12Speaker 3: a town's pride and joy is on there now. It

- 19:17Speaker 3: We always appreciate the time. Look forward to our next conversation.
- 19:20Speaker 2: All right, appreciate you, buddy, see letter.
- 19:21Speaker 4: All right, there is Ryan McGee good enough to join
- 19:23Speaker 4: us here.
- 19:24Speaker 3: And Ryan is so good at going somewhere like Omaha
- 19:31Speaker 3: and just really telling the story of where he's at
- 19:35Speaker 3: and what it means and the people that make something
- 19:39Speaker 3: like this happen. Every single year, So go check his
- 19:43Speaker 3: article out again. It just dropped earlier this morning on
- 19:46Speaker 3: ESPN dot com. All right, we will take a break.
- 19:48Speaker 3: We do have country music superstar Justin Morris set to
- 19:52Speaker 3: join us in ten minutes from now. Going to go
- 19:55Speaker 3: ahead and let you know. He is a razorback, he
- 19:57Speaker 3: is an Arkansas fan. He has promised not to call
- 20:00Speaker 3: the Hogs on the interview. We'll see if he gets
- 20:03Speaker 3: that done. More OTB when we come back, your way
- 20:06Speaker 3: off the bench, right good?
- 20:09Speaker 4: All star not store and heard that in a couple
- 20:13Speaker 4: of days. I don't know what's going on.
- 20:14Speaker 3: Toyota, batiruge dot com buying, new leasing, renting. Every single
- 20:19Speaker 3: thing is available and it's not just lip service.
- 20:22Speaker 4: I mean this is factual.
- 20:24Speaker 3: Right now is the best time to check out those
- 20:27Speaker 3: rentals because you got a lot of different options, a
- 20:30Speaker 3: lot of different ways that you can go, a lot
- 20:32Speaker 3: of different trips that you can plan. It is summer vacation,
- 20:36Speaker 3: if you're going to the beach, if you're going to
- 20:38Speaker 3: that big tournament, softball, baseball seven on seven. Trying to
- 20:45Speaker 3: think any of what sports are in season right now,
- 20:48Speaker 3: whatever it is, right you got the end of the
- 20:50Speaker 3: year tournaments, so maybe need something a little bit bigger.
- 20:53Speaker 4: If you're going to Omaha, I mean, go get a tundra.
- 20:56Speaker 3: Go do that's a coma right because you got all
- 20:58Speaker 3: the tail getting stuff in the back. I mean it
- 21:00Speaker 3: is a perfect time to call Miss Lisa Sessions today
- 21:03Speaker 3: in that rental department.
- 21:04Speaker 4: All star Toto Bendery.
- 21:07Speaker 3: Second, it's great people like us.
- 21:11Speaker 1: From players to legends, Hester and Flynn breakdown L s
- 21:14Speaker 1: U football like only champions can.
- 21:18Speaker 3: Okay, wait all right, welcome back in OTB one oh
- 21:27Speaker 3: four five ESPN baton rouge, keep that going in background line.
- 21:31Speaker 3: If you want inside the boy, you four chat. Let
- 21:36Speaker 3: us know what the the bet should be. Justin Moore
- 21:42Speaker 3: hopping on with us obviously big country music star.
- 21:46Speaker 4: Uh good friend of mine hosted radio with him.
- 21:49Speaker 3: I mean the guy is locked in like no sports
- 21:52Speaker 3: and certainly the SEC as well as anybody. Uh So
- 21:55Speaker 3: he gets the game, is my point, Like he gets
- 21:57Speaker 3: what it means to root for your team.
- 22:00Speaker 4: I mean, I'm thinking the one y'all laid out earlier.
- 22:04Speaker 3: I think it was a Landra nice job him wearing
- 22:06Speaker 3: an L s U shirt to one of his concerts. Yeah,
- 22:09Speaker 3: me and me our jersey Hey, we can send him
- 22:12Speaker 3: an eighteen or fifteen. You can wear either one of
- 22:15Speaker 3: us or gosh, all right, are like who broke Arkansas's
- 22:22Speaker 3: heart like one time or somebody like you know what
- 22:24Speaker 3: I'm saying, Like, what would be like a deep cut
- 22:25Speaker 3: of somebody Jarvis Landry that catch he had.
- 22:28Speaker 5: I mean Flynn kind of well, I don't know about heartburn.
- 22:33Speaker 3: Flynn lost because he was in the locker room getting
- 22:35Speaker 3: shut up thirty yard hill mayor Actually that wasn't Flynn's fault.
- 22:39Speaker 3: We couldn't stop a notice bleed that game. Not better
- 22:42Speaker 3: about it. I think Jarvishry might be a good one.
- 22:45Speaker 3: Remember Tyrone had to catches. We'll come up with it. Uh,
- 22:54Speaker 3: but if I lose the bat, I've got to at
- 22:58Speaker 3: SEC media days.
- 22:59Speaker 4: Sit there an Arkansas shirt on and called the Hawks.
- 23:02Speaker 6: Anthony Jennings, Right, Matt gets hurt, he goes in there,
- 23:08Speaker 6: he hits Trayvan Drell to win it.
- 23:10Speaker 4: Yeah, I was twenty fourteen, twenty thirteen, that was Matt.
- 23:16Speaker 6: That was Mets last year. It was last game, yeah,
- 23:19Speaker 6: twenty thirteen, Yeah, acl yeah, tour it right there.
- 23:23Speaker 4: It was actually Anthony.
- 23:24Speaker 6: Okay, remember the catch the Jarvis had over that dB.
- 23:29Speaker 4: Yeah, it was that play.
- 23:30Speaker 3: Yeah, Justin did just reach out to me. He's gonna
- 23:36Speaker 3: have to do phone instead of video, he said, I
- 23:40Speaker 3: just wanted to grab my computer and it's on my
- 23:41Speaker 3: tour bus, not at the house. Dang. All good though,
- 23:46Speaker 3: all good looking forward to our conversation with him.
- 23:50Speaker 5: You know, our guy gold chain cowboy, Parker mccollory. Yeah,
- 23:53Speaker 5: he didn't even need a bet to wear in LSU
- 23:55Speaker 5: jersey on stage.
- 23:56Speaker 4: He just wore one, did it? Yeah? And I love it?
- 23:59Speaker 4: What jersey you go?
- 24:00Speaker 5: Well, I don't remember what number it was, but it
- 24:02Speaker 5: was a baseball jersey. It was a couple of years
- 24:05Speaker 5: ago when he was here in Baton Rouge and we
- 24:08Speaker 5: went to go see him and he was wearing an
- 24:10Speaker 5: LSU jersey on stage. It was great because he's a
- 24:13Speaker 5: Texas fan, right, Yeah, I think so.
- 24:17Speaker 3: All right, I'm gonna see if I can find this picture,
- 24:19Speaker 3: park McCollum LSU baseball jersey.
- 24:22Speaker 4: It's a purple one.
- 24:24Speaker 3: I don't really see the number there, but we're gonna
- 24:26Speaker 3: come up with some bet here during the break, we
- 24:29Speaker 3: are going to reach out to our guy.
- 24:31Speaker 4: Justin Moore was gonna do video.
- 24:33Speaker 3: It's all right, still gonna have him on the phone,
- 24:35Speaker 3: and look, we can make a bet be at audio
- 24:37Speaker 3: or video, that doesn't matter, So looking forward to that conversation.
- 24:40Speaker 3: We'll have that for you when we jump back here.
- 24:43Speaker 3: It is O TB one O four five ESPN bat
- 24:46Speaker 3: roote off the bench.
- 24:49Speaker 4: I go to trash rangers dot com.
- 24:51Speaker 3: Trash rangers dot com is the website, and you go
- 24:54Speaker 3: there and you can sign up for residential service, sign

- 25:45Speaker 3: zero five three always online at trash rangers dot.
- 25:47Speaker 7: Com Comfu how gotta get shut.
- 25:58Speaker 1: From players to legends, Hester and Flynn breaks down LSU
- 26:01Speaker 1: football like only champions can.
- 26:06Speaker 3: Timmy with y'all, all right, welcome back in. It is
- 26:09Speaker 3: otb here on one O four five ESPN bet Ruge.
- 26:13Speaker 3: Very excited for our next conversation. Good friend of mine,
- 26:17Speaker 3: somebody I've co hosted a show with over on Serious XM.
- 26:22Speaker 3: It is country music superstar Justin Moore good enough to
- 26:25Speaker 3: join us here down in Louisiana.
- 26:27Speaker 4: Justin? What's going on?
- 26:28Speaker 2: Man?
- 26:28Speaker 4: How you doing?
- 26:30Speaker 2: Hi?
- 26:30Speaker 6: Good morning?
- 26:30Speaker 8: How are you, buddy?
- 26:32Speaker 2: Uh?
- 26:32Speaker 4: Doing fantastic? I'm getting excited about Oma Hall. I know
- 26:36Speaker 4: you are as well.
- 26:37Speaker 3: Of course, you know our teams you're gonna meet up
- 26:40Speaker 3: Saturday night Primetime. I mean, how we feeling like we
- 26:44Speaker 3: got to get a perspective from the other side of
- 26:47Speaker 3: the table. How we feeling for the Hogs heading into Omaha?
- 26:51Speaker 2: Heah?
- 26:51Speaker 8: Well, first of all, it's a travesty. I think baseball
- 26:56Speaker 8: is my favorite sport. I don't know if you and
- 26:58Speaker 8: I have discussed that or not, but and I love
- 27:02Speaker 8: the formats great, I'm fine with that, But I think
- 27:06Speaker 8: we need to recede after the Supers because what I'm
- 27:11Speaker 8: saying is a travesty. In my opinion, I think LSU
- 27:14Speaker 8: and Arkansas are the best two teams in the field.
- 27:17Speaker 8: That's my opinion at least, So for them to have
- 27:21Speaker 8: to face each other game one be on the same
- 27:24Speaker 8: side of the bracket, I think is it's tough drawl
- 27:27Speaker 8: for both of us. Really, you know, it's just it's
- 27:31Speaker 8: just kind of unlucky. Plus, man, we played an SEC
- 27:34Speaker 8: team for the Supers soonious, I'm like, good night, can
- 27:37Speaker 8: we please? Can we please get out of But no, man,
- 27:43Speaker 8: I think it's gonna be a great game. I mean,
- 27:45Speaker 8: both teams I think are playing a really good ball
- 27:48Speaker 8: right now. I think you guys would probably have the
- 27:52Speaker 8: edge in my opinion, and pitching, especially starting pitching and
- 27:57Speaker 8: probably closing pitching. We've got a lengthy.
- 28:02Speaker 2: Bulk in but you never know.
- 28:05Speaker 8: You know, Zach Rut, who will start against you guys,
- 28:07Speaker 8: is our ace, and man, when he's good, he's really
- 28:11Speaker 8: really good. But he's been somewhat inconsistent, you know, over
- 28:17Speaker 8: over the course of the year. But but I would
- 28:20Speaker 8: probably give the edge to our lineup just but not
- 28:24Speaker 8: by much. I mean, I just think we may be
- 28:27Speaker 8: a little a little longer in our line maybe seventh
- 28:32Speaker 8: through nine. But but man, it'll it'll be a great
- 28:35Speaker 8: game and and I hope it's a great game at least.
- 28:39Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm expecting it to be that. And you're right,
- 28:42Speaker 3: justin I didnt even think about that. Like, you go
- 28:44Speaker 3: through another SEC team in super Regionals and you will
- 28:47Speaker 3: talk about, like Zach Row's somebody that's, you know, an
- 28:50Speaker 3: incredible guy on the mound. It doesn't always have like
- 28:53Speaker 3: the most emotion, but he had all the emotion against
- 28:56Speaker 3: Tennessee like that.
- 28:58Speaker 4: That series, Like obviously.
- 29:00Speaker 3: Tony V and David Horne the history there and Tony
- 29:02Speaker 3: V's at Arkansas for a long time. It's been chirpy
- 29:04Speaker 3: over the last couple of years. I mean, that was
- 29:07Speaker 3: a series where Arkansas wanted to like show their dominance
- 29:10Speaker 3: in a big way.
- 29:13Speaker 8: Yeah, you know, the first game was a really good game.
- 29:17Speaker 8: I think it's four to three, and it really could
- 29:19Speaker 8: have gone either way, and they their catcher. They were
- 29:25Speaker 8: starting a backup catcher due to an ejection the game before,
- 29:30Speaker 8: and uh, I think we scored on a pass ball
- 29:34Speaker 8: that uh maybe the starter don't uh don't have that
- 29:38Speaker 8: pass ball, which he had a pretty tough game in
- 29:40Speaker 8: game two. But but then yeah, in game game two, man,
- 29:45Speaker 8: we just we we had a couple of balls fly
- 29:49Speaker 8: out of the park. Maybe one of them shouldn't have
- 29:53Speaker 8: kind of backspun out the left and and the win
- 29:57Speaker 8: was blowing out a little bit. And so yeah, it
- 29:59Speaker 8: was good. But like you said, that's been a chirpy series.
- 30:03Speaker 8: I don't know if you guys remember a few years ago, Uh,
- 30:07Speaker 8: coach Bytello and and D d H got into it
- 30:11Speaker 8: pretty pretty hardcore on the field and and then you know,
- 30:18Speaker 8: they're totally fine, I'm sure, but the fans never forgot it.
- 30:22Speaker 8: In other words, and and you know, the way Tennessee
- 30:25Speaker 8: plays ball, they're there. They've been great under Tony obviously
- 30:30Speaker 8: and and supremely talented, but they can be a little bush.
- 30:34Speaker 3: League, you know, you know, with the we're here only
- 30:38Speaker 3: in baton rouge. You're not gonna lose about Tennessee.
- 30:43Speaker 8: Yeah, they're uh, you know, I just don't personally like
- 30:46Speaker 8: the way they play the game. I just I just
- 30:49Speaker 8: personally don't. But so that that that's kind of I
- 30:53Speaker 8: think what happened as far as route going off on.
- 30:58Speaker 8: They call Fish is Fisher I think is his name,
- 31:01Speaker 8: who's a great player but a little a little bit
- 31:05Speaker 8: of a smart ass, you know. And I think he
- 31:09Speaker 8: gave it to Root, and then Root gave it back
- 31:11Speaker 8: to it, and so or vice versa. I don't know
- 31:14Speaker 8: who started it, but it was it was well finished it.
- 31:17Speaker 4: Whoever started it.
- 31:18Speaker 8: He finished exactly exactly after eybody feeling down there. I mean,
- 31:24Speaker 8: I think we're going into it as a whole.
- 31:28Speaker 2: We're like, yeah, we.
- 31:29Speaker 8: Got as good a chance as anybody, but you know,
- 31:32Speaker 8: we've been so heartbroken over the years when we thought
- 31:34Speaker 8: we had really good well we did have really good teams.
- 31:37Speaker 8: It's just hard to win out there. Yeah, and so
- 31:40Speaker 8: we're like, yeah, I think we can do it, you.
- 31:43Speaker 3: Know, Yeah, I guess, yeah, exactly exactly.
- 31:49Speaker 1: That's the thing.
- 31:49Speaker 8: But anyway, I asked you a question and I started talking.
- 31:53Speaker 3: Again, how do you guys feeling That's what I was
- 31:55Speaker 3: going to say, Like, until you've actually until you like
- 31:57Speaker 3: finally do it, there's probably always going to be that feeling,
- 31:59Speaker 3: and certainly Arkansas, I mean, they've been a pop.
- 32:01Speaker 4: Up away from winning a national championship.
- 32:04Speaker 3: But I think LSU fans probably feel like Arkansas fans
- 32:07Speaker 3: like it is a very tough matchup. It's two teams
- 32:10Speaker 3: that know each other incredibly well. And I don't know
- 32:13Speaker 3: that there's ever been like you always want to win
- 32:14Speaker 3: in Omaha, obvious, but I don't think there's ever been
- 32:17Speaker 3: a more point of emphasis got to win this game,
- 32:20Speaker 3: because a lot of us, just like you, think that
- 32:23Speaker 3: this is a matchup between the two best teams, and
- 32:26Speaker 3: if you win this one, man, it really sets you
- 32:29Speaker 3: up for a nice path and then the other team's
- 32:31Speaker 3: got to come out of the losers bracket. Now it's
- 32:33Speaker 3: been done before. The last time LSU won a national championship,
- 32:36Speaker 3: justin it was out.
- 32:37Speaker 4: Of the losers bracket.
- 32:39Speaker 3: But I don't remember like such a point of emphasis,
- 32:41Speaker 3: My goodness, you win this one, Like what that feeling
- 32:45Speaker 3: would feel like and how good of a spot you
- 32:47Speaker 3: would feel like you're in, because this just feels like
- 32:51Speaker 3: the two best teams. It's not just us saying It's
- 32:53Speaker 3: not you saying it, it's Vegas saying it. I mean
- 32:55Speaker 3: it is no doubt Arkansas LSU the two clear favorites
- 32:59Speaker 3: here in Omaha, because after that is a big drop
- 33:02Speaker 3: off before you get to Coastal Carolina.
- 33:05Speaker 8: Yeah, I would agree with that, and I've said it.
- 33:08Speaker 8: You know. I don't even know if I've talked to
- 33:10Speaker 8: you about it, but I do a radio show in
- 33:12Speaker 8: Little Rock with David Basil. Oh yeah, I know, you know. Yeah,
- 33:15Speaker 8: And as matter of fact, I jumped off our show
- 33:18Speaker 8: to jump on with you guys. I told Bath, I said,
- 33:21Speaker 8: I'm going to talk to hester.
- 33:22Speaker 2: He goes, you turn the back off.
- 33:25Speaker 8: So maybe we can get you on our show. Absolutely
- 33:28Speaker 8: after the game, maybe next week or something. But I
- 33:31Speaker 8: think you're right. But I've said this on our show.
- 33:34Speaker 8: I think this is the first of two games that
- 33:37Speaker 8: l shoot all play regardless of who wins and who
- 33:42Speaker 8: loses this game.
- 33:44Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, I'm right there with you. I think the
- 33:46Speaker 4: same thing.
- 33:46Speaker 3: I think these teams have to go through the other
- 33:48Speaker 3: one another time, and that's going to be maybe even
- 33:51Speaker 3: more of an intriguing matchup because who knows what the
- 33:53Speaker 3: pitching is going to be like. And that's why, like
- 33:55Speaker 3: winning that first one just feels so important. But I
- 33:59Speaker 3: do have to say and so throughout the show. So
- 34:02Speaker 3: we're also like on YouTube, we're on TV, and so
- 34:04Speaker 3: we have interaction with like a little chat during this
- 34:07Speaker 3: show and they're always great in you know interactions have
- 34:10Speaker 3: been through the roof today trying to come up with
- 34:13Speaker 3: a bet for us, for you and I to come
- 34:17Speaker 3: up with a bet.
- 34:18Speaker 4: Now, well, well we got some time to work it out.
- 34:21Speaker 3: But the best one that I've seen so far today,
- 34:25Speaker 3: And I know you've got a couple of shows coming up.
- 34:27Speaker 3: I know you're going to be in Minnesota here coming up,
- 34:30Speaker 3: So maybe it's not right now. Maybe we see who
- 34:33Speaker 3: ends up going, you know, the farthest down the road
- 34:35Speaker 3: in the College World Series. But the best one I've
- 34:38Speaker 3: seen is if LSU wins and moves on, you got
- 34:43Speaker 3: to wear an LSU shirt jersey at one of your
- 34:46Speaker 3: shows for at least like a song.
- 34:49Speaker 4: And then if Arkansas wins, I've.
- 34:52Speaker 3: Got to wear an Arkansas shirt at SEC media days
- 34:56Speaker 3: and also call the Hogs.
- 34:58Speaker 7: Wow.
- 35:00Speaker 8: Yeah, that's that's it's gonna be brutal for everyone.
- 35:05Speaker 3: Look, I mean, I know your wife's family has you know,
- 35:08Speaker 3: some l s U gear they can send. Look, we'll
- 35:10Speaker 3: send you the gear if we have to. I mean,
- 35:12Speaker 3: I know it's later around the house there at your
- 35:13Speaker 3: in law, like somebody's got to know you.
- 35:15Speaker 8: Sure they can send you Yeah, yeah. Likewise, yeah, yeah,
- 35:20Speaker 8: you know my my I think I talked about it
- 35:22Speaker 8: last time I was on with you, But yeah, my
- 35:25Speaker 8: wife's from home, and so over the years there's been
- 35:28Speaker 8: a lot of trash talk. But between us now, at
- 35:32Speaker 8: the time we started dating, which was twenty three years ago,
- 35:36Speaker 8: our football program was winning a few more games and
- 35:41Speaker 8: and so we haven't had a whole lot of stuff
- 35:45Speaker 8: to talk trash about over the past few years, except
- 35:50Speaker 8: for a couple of seasons. But but yeah, man, it's
- 35:54Speaker 8: it's always fun to give it to each other. I
- 35:57Speaker 8: think that's what to me college sports or uh it
- 36:01Speaker 8: kind of makes them so fun. And I mean you
- 36:04Speaker 8: and I are on opposing side and and good friends
- 36:08Speaker 8: at the same time, So to me, that's kind of
- 36:11Speaker 8: what makes the sports so fun and why everybody invests
- 36:16Speaker 8: so much into it and uh emotion wise, and uh so, yeah,
- 36:21Speaker 8: it's it's a good time and uh so you got
- 36:24Speaker 8: are you going to omall?
- 36:25Speaker 3: So if they make it to the championship series is
- 36:30Speaker 3: when we're thinking we're going to try to get up there,
- 36:32Speaker 3: uh you know with the other with the afternoon series
- 36:34Speaker 3: x SIM show, Like trying to figure out how to
- 36:37Speaker 3: get there, how to do both shows is a little tricky,
- 36:40Speaker 3: but we said, if they make it to the final series,
- 36:43Speaker 3: then we are going to drop whatever we've got going
- 36:45Speaker 3: on and find a way up there.
- 36:47Speaker 2: Yeah, that's it.
- 36:48Speaker 8: That's exactly my my deal. I've got to play shows
- 36:52Speaker 8: unfortunately this weekend and and then let's see, I would
- 36:59Speaker 8: miss game one if we happened to Mad made the championship,
- 37:03Speaker 8: but I could catch Game two, and if there's a
- 37:05Speaker 8: Game three, but you know, there's a there's a lot
- 37:08Speaker 8: of a lot of ball at the play before that,
- 37:11Speaker 8: I can make those plan you know.
- 37:14Speaker 4: I know.
- 37:14Speaker 3: I'm sitting here and I'm like looking, I'm like, all right,
- 37:16Speaker 3: it is June the twelfth.
- 37:18Speaker 4: I'm sitting here looking at Justin's tour dates.
- 37:22Speaker 3: Oh man, I mean right like in the middle of
- 37:25Speaker 3: the Championship series like you would.
- 37:27Speaker 4: You're not far away though.
- 37:29Speaker 3: It looks like you're going to be in Cedar Rapids
- 37:31Speaker 3: in the twenty first and so you can maybe play
- 37:35Speaker 3: that show and then pop down to Omaha, like at
- 37:38Speaker 3: least you're somewhat close.
- 37:40Speaker 8: Yeah, that's the plan.
- 37:41Speaker 2: I think.
- 37:41Speaker 8: I looked and it was four or five hours or
- 37:44Speaker 8: something like that, So I could I could just pop
- 37:46Speaker 8: over in the bus and and uh catch catch the
- 37:50Speaker 8: next game or two or whatever. Uh, So we'll see.
- 37:54Speaker 2: Uh.
- 37:55Speaker 8: But last time we went to Omahall, it was actually
- 37:59Speaker 8: Father's Day weekend again, and I came home on the
- 38:02Speaker 8: bus from the show and exhausted and just ready to
- 38:06Speaker 8: hang out with the kids and my wife. As soon
- 38:08Speaker 8: as I walk in the door, she goes, happy Father's Day,
- 38:11Speaker 8: I got your backpack. Go get back on the bus.
- 38:14Speaker 8: We're going to Home Hall. And I'm I mean, I
- 38:17Speaker 8: was thrilled, but I was like, I want to kind
- 38:20Speaker 8: of hang out with the kids, and she goes, well,
- 38:22Speaker 8: you can't. We're going there. Man, what a great experience.
- 38:25Speaker 8: I'm sure you've been, but.
- 38:28Speaker 2: I could.
- 38:29Speaker 8: I couldn't believe the magnitude of what they do. I've
- 38:34Speaker 8: never been to the super Bowl, but that's what it
- 38:36Speaker 8: seemed like to me. I mean, just how how great
- 38:38Speaker 8: a job that city does. And the atmosphere was awesome. Now,
- 38:43Speaker 8: we went to and out, which was not a whole
- 38:46Speaker 8: lot of fun, but we had a really good time.
- 38:50Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 38:50Speaker 3: Absolutely, and this one, like you want to whatever the
- 38:54Speaker 3: peak attendance is and whatever, like the peak crowd noise is, whatever,
- 38:59Speaker 3: like the standard is. I think it's going to be
- 39:01Speaker 3: broken by Saturday night. L s U and Arkansas two
- 39:05Speaker 3: of for my money, two of the best fan bases
- 39:08Speaker 3: in college baseball. I think it is going to be incredible.
- 39:11Speaker 3: It is going to be packed to the gills, It's
- 39:13Speaker 3: going to be loud. It's at night, justin those fans
- 39:15Speaker 3: are going to be well hydrated. They're gonna have all
- 39:18Speaker 3: day to get their mind right ready for the game.
- 39:20Speaker 3: And so man, whatever like the best atmosphere in that
- 39:23Speaker 3: stadium is, it's going to be passed up, I think
- 39:25Speaker 3: by what we see on Saturday night.
- 39:28Speaker 8: Yeah, I totally agree. And I think both of our coaches,
- 39:32Speaker 8: Coach Johnson and coach Van Horned both mentioned that you know,
- 39:36Speaker 8: it's it's gonna be great, and I agree with you,
- 39:39Speaker 8: so that I don't see how there's two better, more passionate,
- 39:45Speaker 8: well traveled college baseball fan bases in the country. And
- 39:52Speaker 8: so it's it's going to be a leade as far
- 39:54Speaker 8: as atmosphere goes. And uh, you know, for for a
- 39:58Speaker 8: few years man, you know, until the last few years,
- 40:01Speaker 8: and we've had some really good basketball runs. But you know,
- 40:04Speaker 8: we've we've had baseball for the past twenty years with
- 40:07Speaker 8: coach Van Horn or whatever it's been. So that's what
- 40:11Speaker 8: Razorback fans have had and they go, Okay, take a
- 40:15Speaker 8: sigh relief. At least this baseball season. We know we're
- 40:17Speaker 8: gonna be good in baseball at least, and we can
- 40:20Speaker 8: compete with anybody, and we get you know, high level
- 40:23Speaker 8: recruits and all that, and uh so, uh, I think
- 40:27Speaker 8: that that's part of it for us at least, And
- 40:29Speaker 8: obviously you guys with the legendary coach coach skip Bertman
- 40:37Speaker 8: started that. It may have been somebody before that that
- 40:40Speaker 8: I'm unaware of.
- 40:43Speaker 2: And we had a.
- 40:46Speaker 8: Coach, Norman O'Brien who did that for us before Dave
- 40:49Speaker 8: got there. And and so it's it's you know, we've
- 40:53Speaker 8: had a lot of tradition, you guys more because y'all
- 40:56Speaker 8: have gotten over the hump. Uh what is it seven
- 40:59Speaker 8: times seven?
- 40:59Speaker 4: Yes, seven times?
- 41:00Speaker 8: Yeah, so you know that obviously is part of it
- 41:05Speaker 8: as well, a huge part of it.
- 41:08Speaker 4: All right there.
- 41:08Speaker 3: He is good friend country music superstar Justin Moore rooting
- 41:13Speaker 3: on his hogs there in Omahall, Justin, let's talk some
- 41:16Speaker 3: trash to the text thread. Let's come up with a
- 41:18Speaker 3: bet the man looking forward to it.
- 41:22Speaker 8: Get this bet lined out. And uh and I'm sure
- 41:25Speaker 8: you and I will be texting during the Yeah.
- 41:28Speaker 4: No question about it. Man.
- 41:30Speaker 8: Well, hey, good luck to you guys. Not too much,
- 41:33Speaker 8: but good luck to you guys. And and uh, it'll
- 41:36Speaker 8: be It'll be fun regardless. Like I said, I'm just
- 41:39Speaker 8: hope it's a great game and a great tournament and
- 41:42Speaker 8: and uh and uh, well we'll roll it out there
- 41:45Speaker 8: see what happens.
- 41:46Speaker 3: Man, Yep, no question about it. Man, truly, do appreciate
- 41:49Speaker 3: your time, justin, Man, I know how busy it is.
- 41:51Speaker 3: I mean, you've got tour d eights coming up, so
- 41:52Speaker 3: we appreciate a couple of minutes here.
- 41:55Speaker 8: Hey, thanks brother, Always good to talk to you.
- 41:57Speaker 4: All the best, all right, you as well again.
- 41:59Speaker 3: Justin Moore country music superstar massive Massive Arkansas fan. I
- 42:05Speaker 3: was looking at his Twitter bio father Husband Hawk fan
- 42:09Speaker 3: before he mentions country Music Albums Awards that he's won
- 42:14Speaker 3: Father Husband Hawk Fan. So, I mean, I don't think
- 42:18Speaker 3: that a lot of people like with the following that
- 42:21Speaker 3: he has would have known lshu's current head coach, their
- 42:24Speaker 3: former head coach, like information, like he would have known
- 42:26Speaker 3: maybe his team. But when I say this man is
- 42:30Speaker 3: a true fan, he truly is.
- 42:31Speaker 4: And so we'll see what that bet ends up being.
- 42:33Speaker 3: I think Elandra came up with the best one yet,
- 42:35Speaker 3: we'll see if we can get him to agree to it.
- 42:37Speaker 3: All right, we will wrap up today's show when we
- 42:40Speaker 3: come back a little ask the bench here on otat
- 42:44Speaker 3: dopter bench. All right, go to get Gordon dot com,
- 42:51Speaker 3: Gordon McKernon injury Attorneys and when you go to the
- 42:54Speaker 3: website a lot of different things. You can check out
- 42:57Speaker 3: past client results, cases they can handle for you in
- 43:01Speaker 3: the courtroom. You can find a list of their locations.
- 43:04Speaker 3: That's like one thing you know we always talk about
- 43:06Speaker 3: is them being throughout the state of Louisiana.
- 43:09Speaker 4: But let's listen out real quick.
- 43:12Speaker 3: Alexandria Baton, Rouge, Denim Springs, hamm and Gonzales, Homer, Lafayette, Lake,
- 43:16Speaker 3: Charles Monroe, New Orleans, Apelusa's Shreveport, Zachary. I mean, they
- 43:20Speaker 3: are everywhere in the state of Louisiana, and they've always
- 43:24Speaker 3: got something going on as well throughout your local community, right,
- 43:28Speaker 3: I mean they are big, big supporters of every community
- 43:32Speaker 3: that they're in. You can find all of that on
- 43:34Speaker 3: social media at GID. Gordon's going to be the handle

- 44:04Speaker 6: Te Ben.
- 44:05Speaker 4: You look, I have your hoping all night like I.
- 44:09Speaker 3: Take baby let all right, welcome again, OTB closing out
- 44:13Speaker 3: with a little ass the bench.
- 44:16Speaker 4: Hashtag ask the Bench.
- 44:19Speaker 3: Do you loathe Eduardo Perez calling the WHOA calling the
- 44:24Speaker 3: College Role Series?
- 44:28Speaker 4: I don't.
- 44:28Speaker 3: I don't know the guy personally, but if you haven't
- 44:31Speaker 3: been there all season long, why would you be there
- 44:33Speaker 3: in the biggest moment.
- 44:34Speaker 4: It's kind of my deal and I don't love him
- 44:38Speaker 4: on any call.
- 44:39Speaker 3: ESPN's college baseball coverage during the year is better than
- 44:42Speaker 3: any other coverage that they do, as far as the
- 44:44Speaker 3: talent that they have in the booth. Chris Burt, Ben McDonald,
- 44:49Speaker 3: Todd Walker, H I mean we I mean JP calpri
- 44:53Speaker 3: like wek Ago. I could go through the list of
- 44:56Speaker 3: the guys that are just doing an incredible job, and
- 44:59Speaker 3: so like why would you go away from those guys?
- 45:03Speaker 3: Or somebody that covers major League baseball that he just
- 45:06Speaker 3: doesn't know, doesn't know the ins and outs. And that's
- 45:09Speaker 3: not even like a knock against him, it's just it is.
- 45:12Speaker 4: What it is. Yeah, I can't say that.
- 45:17Speaker 3: If I'm watching a baseball game my guy's on the
- 45:20Speaker 3: call there, like a major league baseball game, my wife
- 45:23Speaker 3: will walk in and go nope, nope, nope, turn it down,
- 45:26Speaker 3: not listening to that. So if you run something, ask
- 45:30Speaker 3: a bench, why did t Bob really leave Baton Rouge
- 45:33Speaker 3: took a new jobs out there doing some stuff yesterday.
- 45:39Speaker 4: The truth is he's on the run.
- 45:41Speaker 5: He's he's trying to run the cops.
- 45:45Speaker 4: Like he's running for the cops.
- 45:46Speaker 3: T Bob wouldn't run. He would just say you got me,
- 45:48Speaker 3: we'll see you tomorrow, otb.
- 45:50Speaker 4: Off the bench, all right, all right, you got me,
- 45:55Speaker 4: and like he would do that by the time he
- 45:56Speaker 4: got to port Allen.
- 45:57Speaker 5: I think that's fair because he did say Kate and
- 46:00Speaker 5: cheated on him.
- 46:00Speaker 3: He'd just be like, like, hey, can react like that
- 46:02Speaker 3: did not happen, and just say like let's reset, ye,
- 46:07Speaker 3: like and I truly believe that, just like I believe
- 46:10Speaker 3: in central plumbing Central plumbing dot org. Not only in
- 46:13Speaker 3: Central in the greater Baton Rouge area, we are talking
- 46:16Speaker 3: to you. And also twenty four seven three sixty five

- 46:23Speaker 3: have that emergency two to five nine two five eighty
- 46:26Speaker 3: five fifty two. So like Saturday nine, if you're watching
- 46:29Speaker 3: the Tigers and the Hogs and all of a sudden
- 46:31Speaker 3: you have a plumbing issue and you're like, oh my god,
- 46:33Speaker 3: this is doomsday. Remember, central plumbing will even be out.
- 46:36Speaker 3: Then it is a weekend, it is a game day,
- 46:39Speaker 3: is it flag Day? I don't really know. But still
- 46:42Speaker 3: Central Plumbing will be there every single time. Sincera plumbing
