Transcript
- 0:00>> Skylar: Welcome everybody to a spooky one
- 0:03shot. normally something that would be done
- 0:06around Halloween season but this time we're doing
- 0:08something special for the post
- 0:11Thanksgiving Christmas
- 0:14season. That's right. We are doing a
- 0:17one shot of the All Flesh Must be
- 0:20Eaten system.
- 0:22>> Skylar: That I have titled Black Friday of the
- 0:25Dead.
- 0:26>> Skylar: welcome everybody. I'm Skyler, the usual host now
- 0:29your zombie master as they call it in the All
- 0:32Flesh Must be Eaten system. the All Flesh Must
- 0:35be Eaten system is a zombie based
- 0:37ttrpg. It's a bit older. It's all the way from back
- 0:40in 1999 is when it was first published by
- 0:43Eden Studios Inc. And it is
- 0:45using the uni system.
- 0:48there's other systems and such that use this.
- 0:51But the basic gist of it is I understand and maybe I'm
- 0:54completely way off. but the unis system
- 0:57is basically uses like a
- 0:59D10. I don't know, could be kind of a
- 1:02little bit more to it than that. But at least with the all
- 1:05Flesh Must be Eaten we're looking at kind of a D10 based
- 1:08system. You're going to roll a D10, add
- 1:10some skills and I'll go a little bit more into the mechanics of it.
- 1:13But whatever the case, roll the D10, add some
- 1:16skills, add an attribute and that's your
- 1:19results. And whether you succeed or not is based on
- 1:22that. With me today, I've got
- 1:24three of our usuals, from one of
- 1:27our various campaigns. to my left I've got Dave.
- 1:30Dave, welcome to the show.
- 1:32>> Dave: Thanks. Glad to be here.
- 1:35>> Skylar: I've got fan favorite from our Criminals of
- 1:38Isla Numa series, Fatty Lumpkins. Fatty Lumpkins.
- 1:41>> Fatty Lumpkins: Thanks for having me.
- 1:42>> Skylar: Thanks for being here. And another fan
- 1:45favorite from our Criminals of Isla Numa series,
- 1:48Quinn.
- 1:49>> Quinn: Yeah, not. Yeah, very excited to be here. This should be a good
- 1:51time.
- 1:52>> Skylar: It should be getting this absolutely very, not
- 1:54your little sauce this time.
- 1:56>> Quinn: No, no, no sauce.
- 1:58>> Skylar: Instead I have asked each one of these
- 2:01players to basically because we are going to be playing in the
- 2:04modern day, and I say modern day a little bit broadly
- 2:07because we're going to, we're going to jump back to
- 2:092016America.
- 2:13United States, Iowa
- 2:16more or less. I mean, is this going to be in Iowa? the like
- 2:19setting per se is a little bit fictional in the sense that
- 2:22like Fatty, I know you. You didn't live here in
- 2:25town with us. You didn't know most of us.
- 2:27Dave, I feel you didn't even
- 2:29necessarily run in the same friend group per se. Like it was
- 2:32kind of a little bit more outside. Quinn, and I, on the other hand, were
- 2:35definitely hanging out together in the 2016.
- 2:38and that's not to be rude or anything to anybody, but I'm just
- 2:41trying to. This is alternate reality where instead
- 2:44we're all friends. We're all friends here, in this kind
- 2:47of like fictional city, which I didn't really even come up with a name for
- 2:50because everything's going to take place in one,
- 2:53primary location, which is the Sunrise
- 2:56Mall. heavily inspired by our mall here where
- 2:59we live, which again, I'm not going to name drop because that feels
- 3:01weird and I don't want them to get upset.
- 3:05But whatever the case, this is the Sunrise mall,
- 3:07modern day 2016. so feel free to make
- 3:10whatever 2016 references that you can think of throughout, the
- 3:13course of this. But for now, as part of our
- 3:16session zero, I want to talk about the
- 3:19characters. Who is everybody playing? I mean, again,
- 3:22we're playing ourselves. But tell me a little bit about
- 3:24yourselves in your 2016 character
- 3:27format. So Dave, starting with you, if you're, if you're cool with
- 3:30that, tell, me a little bit about Dave in 2016 and
- 3:33what that looks like in your character. So for instance,
- 3:36off the bat you've got your primary attributes kind of similar to like
- 3:39Dungeons and Dragons, with a slightly different wording. So
- 3:42you got strength, dexterity, constitution, intelligence,
- 3:45perception and willpower. Where did you kind of
- 3:47land on these stats? And just to give a little bit of reference
- 3:50to listeners, these stats usually range from like
- 3:531 to 5. So a 1 is kind of like,
- 3:56eh, I kind of a little bit wimpy,
- 3:59within this particular stat. So like for instance, if you're talking strength,
- 4:02I'm not really a strong guy. I'm not buff and muscular. I'm probably pretty
- 4:04scrawny. That is what it is.
- 4:07Versus a five in strength is
- 4:10like I'm pretty much an Olympic level
- 4:12athlete. so I'm like way up there and then
- 4:15everything in between, you know, two, three is kind of around like
- 4:18the maybe average to a little bit above average
- 4:21or pretty decent even, obviously four,
- 4:24that's pretty dang strong. You know, you might be like a
- 4:26local,
- 4:29not celebrity, but like you performed well in the like high
- 4:32school wrestling or something like that. But anyways, Dave, tell us a little bit about where
- 4:35your character landed in these.
- 4:37>> Dave: All right, so back in 2016, I would
- 4:40have graduated college, been at my first
- 4:43job at, ah, an accounting
- 4:46firm, right?
- 4:47>> Quinn: On.
- 4:48>> Dave: And so back then, a little more
- 4:52physically, fit probably.
- 4:55So strength three, dexterity
- 4:58three, constitution three.
- 5:00>> Skylar: Nice, nice.
- 5:01>> Dave: You know, I, we did some P90X in
- 5:04college, so
- 5:09intelligence three. You know, my brain was
- 5:12pumped full of all that knowledge.
- 5:14>> Skylar: Numbers, numbers, numbers.
- 5:16>> Dave: Perception two, you know, didn't really know how
- 5:19the world worked.
- 5:21>> Skylar: Sure.
- 5:21>> Dave: You're still, you're just learning and willpower
- 5:24won. You know, I was studying
- 5:27for the CPA exam at the time.
- 5:30Did not take much to distract me
- 5:34because that sucked.
- 5:39>> Skylar: Oh, man. Well, yes. Okay,
- 5:43so cpa, Striving
- 5:45Dave is our first kind of the
- 5:48start off for our character. And then Dave jumping into. So
- 5:51the next kind of section here is
- 5:54your character has qualities and drawbacks. So
- 5:57qualities are going to be obviously positive things that, your
- 6:00character kind of has. Some of them are a bit more like,
- 6:03I want to say broad or kind of obscure.
- 6:06some of them are really specific. And again,
- 6:09so drawbacks are going to, you have kind of a point by system and I'm
- 6:12not going to get super deep into that because it kind of takes away from like the roleplay
- 6:15aspect of it. We've already figured it all out. but for you guys listening,
- 6:18these are kind of what you kind of imagine yourself to
- 6:21having. based on the qualities and drawbacks that ah,
- 6:24the game kind of listed out and there's some that we, I think added
- 6:27maybe or maybe that's in the skills. But whatever the case, what qualities
- 6:30and drawbacks does 2016 Dave
- 6:32have?
- 6:34>> Dave: so say good luck. I mean, you could call it good luck or
- 6:37blessed, whatever you want to call it. but I've always
- 6:39been pretty lucky. I feel like.
- 6:41>> Skylar: Nice.
- 6:42>> Dave: Call it beginner's luck. Just luck in general.
- 6:45Photographic memory. I don't have photographic memory,
- 6:48but memory is pretty decent, I'd say.
- 6:51So gave myself a positive to that.
- 6:53>> Skylar: Yep.
- 6:54>> Dave: And then fast reaction time, you
- 6:57know, reflexes were a little faster
- 7:00than.
- 7:02>> Fatty Lumpkins: You.
- 7:03>> Dave: Know, all that Call of Duty I played in
- 7:05college. And then for the drawback side though,
- 7:09well, I guess one of these is really more for now, but
- 7:12I didn't even realize that until this moment, but
- 7:15Paranoid. yeah, it wasn't
- 7:18until more recently I started listening to more
- 7:21Joe Rogan.
- 7:23>> Skylar: And it's just got you on it.
- 7:24>> Dave: Those kind of podcasts. So podcasts weren't
- 7:27really that big of a thing back then. They're just kind of starting.
- 7:30>> Skylar: Yeah.
- 7:31>> Dave: Anyways, we'll still roll with that. And then
- 7:33physical disability,
- 7:37I guess you could call it, depending
- 7:40on what I eat.
- 7:43Yeah, my bowels would get a little
- 7:46inflamed. Ibs,
- 7:49d, if you must know.
- 7:51>> Skylar: Yeah, I was gonna say we
- 7:54had kind of a lesson in ibs, the different
- 7:57forms of IBS for. From resident
- 7:59expert Fatty Lumpkins.
- 8:03>> Dave: I wouldn't say it was much of an issue, but there
- 8:05was one, incident after a
- 8:08subway, but we'll not go into that.
- 8:11>> Skylar: And so for that reason, so that you get to kind of take,
- 8:14like, different levels of how much this, you know, physical
- 8:17disability affects you. And so we only put it at a
- 8:19level one, which is the lowest level. not saying that
- 8:22obviously ibs, isn't obviously a difficult
- 8:25thing to live with. but it's not like you don't have an
- 8:28arm in the. In the sense of a zombie apocalypse situation. It's
- 8:31not like not having an arm that you can fight back with or defend
- 8:34yourself with. but I definitely think
- 8:37it's something that could come up in a
- 8:40situation of fear and, terror. So.
- 8:43Fantastic. All right, and then last but not
- 8:46least, and Dave, yours is the longest list
- 8:49easily, between the other players, but you have the
- 8:52skills. Now, the book itself, for All Flesh
- 8:54Must Be Eaten has a list of skills, and
- 8:57it's a pretty big list. you get specific
- 9:00with things, right? So, like, rather than just saying, I'm good
- 9:03at science, you would specify what area of science
- 9:06that you feel like you're particularly good at. So you could say,
- 9:09I'm science, chemistry. I have levels in
- 9:12that. I also am pretty good at biology, so I've got
- 9:14levels in that and so on and so forth. So you can get pretty specific
- 9:18with most things. but whatever the case. And then
- 9:20of course, similar to the levels that we mentioned before, you know, one
- 9:23is like, I know a little bit here and there,
- 9:26maybe more than the average person. Whereas 5 is like, this is
- 9:29what I am an expert in kind of a thing. So,
- 9:32I told these guys, I said, I want you guys to
- 9:35think of whatever you feel like you in
- 9:382016 was into was good at,
- 9:41whatever the case, and just list that out. That's what I want you
- 9:43guys to go with. So we've got some really
- 9:46interesting ideas here that are going to come into
- 9:49play. So, Dave, tell us a little bit about some of the skills that
- 9:51you came up with.
- 9:52>> Dave: Oh, you want me to run down the list?
- 9:54>> Skylar: Yeah, go for the list.
- 9:55>> Dave: Okay. got sense of
- 9:57direction, which, funny enough, that
- 10:00comes from all the Minecraft
- 10:03we've played in college. Played a lot of
- 10:06video games in college.
- 10:09A Lot of free time.
- 10:10>> Skylar: Yeah.
- 10:12>> Dave: Random, item recall, which is. You've probably
- 10:15seen that meme. A lot of guys have this, like,
- 10:18where. Oh, you need a paper
- 10:21clip. Yeah, it's right next to the, file
- 10:23cap.
- 10:25>> Skylar: You know, it's funny, I feel like I have the opposite of that. I will,
- 10:28like, set my phone down and then, like, turn around and turn
- 10:31back and be like, where did I put my phone?
- 10:33>> Dave: So I did have to help my roommate quite a bit
- 10:36in college locate his missing objects.
- 10:39I can't find my phone. I'm like, oh, it's under your pillow.
- 10:42>> Skylar: Nice. It's right there. That
- 10:45could come up for sure.
- 10:47>> Dave: Climbing, longboarding.
- 10:50>> Skylar: Nice.
- 10:50>> Dave: Board games.
- 10:51>> Skylar: Absolutely.
- 10:52>> Dave: Right when I was getting into board games, pretty much. Well, a little
- 10:55bit after hiding, I
- 10:58would hide in random places and
- 11:02scare people sometimes.
- 11:04Idle endurance.
- 11:06>> Skylar: Yeah. Tell me what.
- 11:06>> Dave: This one I made up this one. you know,
- 11:09some people, they're in the car, they gotta have music
- 11:12playing or whatever. Sometimes I'll just drive
- 11:15with nothing.
- 11:16>> Skylar: Nice.
- 11:17>> Dave: Or just. I'll be doing nothing.
- 11:20And that's okay. Maybe
- 11:23I'll just be staring at the computer screen instead
- 11:26of studying for the CPA exam.
- 11:31pizza cutting. I worked at a pizza place
- 11:34back in those days. M. this
- 11:37one there's official one called
- 11:39financing, but I call that business
- 11:42time. business
- 11:45major. Accounting major.
- 11:46>> Skylar: Yeah.
- 11:47>> Dave: Procrastination. So this one is
- 11:50my idea of. You could also say maybe
- 11:53works under pressure.
- 11:54>> Skylar: Yeah. Like, I set it aside so long that
- 11:57it needs to get done now, and I. I can work with the
- 12:00pressure.
- 12:00>> Dave: Some of you are familiar with the, procrastination
- 12:03Monkey gets you
- 12:06into gear.
- 12:07>> Skylar: That's right.
- 12:09>> Dave: role playing. That's probably when
- 12:12I first played Dungeons and
- 12:14Dragons.
- 12:15>> Skylar: Yeah.
- 12:17>> Dave: then guns, handgun, shotgun. You know,
- 12:20I did some hunting.
- 12:21>> Skylar: Nice.
- 12:22>> Dave: some shooting.
- 12:24>> Skylar: that'll come in handy for sure.
- 12:25>> Dave: Stealth and I'll.
- 12:28And trumpet. I played the trumpet.
- 12:31>> Skylar: Nice.
- 12:33>> Dave: Don't play it too much anymore.
- 12:35>> Skylar: But still time. 2016.
- 12:38Oh, and swing dancing.
- 12:39>> Dave: Oh, yeah, swing dancing. That didn't make. Oh, it's not. Oh, it
- 12:42is.
- 12:42>> Skylar: Over on the other column, I filled.
- 12:45>> Dave: Up a whole column.
- 12:48>> Skylar: Swing dancing. That if that comes into play, I.
- 12:51Which I hope it does.
- 12:51>> Fatty Lumpkins: This cool montage of Dave swing dancing
- 12:54through this horde of zombies.
- 12:56>> Skylar: Yeah, the zombies. He's like, I can get through the zombies. Whipping
- 12:59them around by them. Oh, my gosh. I
- 13:02never even thought of it. That's a brilliant idea, guys.
- 13:05How are we going to get through these zombies? I'll show you.
- 13:08Proceeds to Swing dance.
- 13:09>> Fatty Lumpkins: Louis Armstrong.
- 13:10>> Skylar: It's brilliant. It's brilliant. I. That's not
- 13:13a bad idea. That'd be kind of cool.
- 13:15>> Quinn: It's all in the hips. It's all in the hips.
- 13:18Wake me up.
- 13:22>> Skylar: So just to. Just to jump into it before we jump over to the other
- 13:25characters. So just to talk about that. So, like, for instance,
- 13:28in the situation where Dave wants to swing
- 13:31dance through this entire horde of
- 13:34zombies, that is absolutely something that you could in
- 13:36fact do. So basically what I would tell you is, and
- 13:39this is how checks work, right? In Dungeons and Dragons,
- 13:42you'd have that huge list of skills. So I would say to you, okay,
- 13:45well, roll me a stealth check. And you would roll your D20 and
- 13:48you'd add your stealth modifier, and then that's where we'd
- 13:51be at. in this game, you roll a D10
- 13:54and then you are going to add a relevant
- 13:56attribute. So strength, dexterity, constitution, et
- 13:59cetera, et cetera. In this case, let's say for the swing dancing, we'd say
- 14:02dexterity. and then you would also add a
- 14:05relevant skill, which in this case would very much be
- 14:08swing dancing, which is another plus two. So, Dave, your
- 14:11dexterity is plus three. Your swing dancing would be
- 14:14plus two. So then you're having a five, plus whatever you
- 14:17roll on. the D10, if it is. If it is a
- 14:20nine or higher, you succeeded. and there are
- 14:23different levels of success, of course, so like the higher you
- 14:25roll or the higher your number, the better your success
- 14:28is and the more like you're kind of going to get out of it,
- 14:31versus rolling under a nine. You're not swing
- 14:34dancing through them zombies.
- 14:35>> Dave: Oh, no.
- 14:37>> Skylar: Them zombies swing dance you right where they want you.
- 14:40So, that's basically how that works. So with
- 14:43that in mind, you know, thinking about all these different
- 14:46skills that you guys have put down, that's. That's where those are going to come into
- 14:49play.
- 15:00With that being said, let's jump over to Fatty Lumpkins.
- 15:03Fatty Lumpkins, tell us about your choices in. In
- 15:06attributes.
- 15:07>> Fatty Lumpkins: Okay, so circa 2016, Fatty
- 15:10Lumpkins was just graduating
- 15:13undergrad.
- 15:14>> Skylar: Oh, okay.
- 15:14>> Fatty Lumpkins: And with all that crippling student loans
- 15:17burning a hole in my pocket, I thought,
- 15:20why not go back to school?
- 15:24So I was in the process of
- 15:27starting in my first year of pharmacy school,
- 15:30and so it was not a very
- 15:33fun time in my life. So there's going to be a lot of
- 15:36boring skills like
- 15:38reading and memorizing. So I'm
- 15:41hoping that maybe I'll come across Barnes and
- 15:44Nobles or something, and they might come into play at the mall.
- 15:47>> Skylar: It's entirely possible. In fact, I do have a
- 15:50bookstore plan, so there you go.
- 15:52>> Fatty Lumpkins: But for primary attributes, I,
- 15:55despite the name, would not consider myself
- 15:58very strong.
- 16:01So strength is just at a two,
- 16:04not in the worst shape of my life ten years ago. So we'll give my
- 16:07dexterity four.
- 16:09and then because I made it
- 16:12into a grad school, I had to give myself a little pat on
- 16:15the back and give myself an intelligence of
- 16:18three.
- 16:18>> Skylar: Yeah, I would hope.
- 16:20>> Fatty Lumpkins: And you can't make it into a grad school
- 16:23without a bit of willpower, so I had to put that at 2.
- 16:26>> Skylar: True.
- 16:26>> Fatty Lumpkins: And so that kind of leaves the last two to
- 16:29round out, perception and constitution.
- 16:32those. I guess my rationale is I was alive, so I'll give myself
- 16:35a constitution of four and
- 16:38a perception of two.
- 16:40>> Skylar: Well, what else did you say? You said you, you lived off of
- 16:42some, probably not the best of foods.
- 16:44>> Fatty Lumpkins: Ah. Oh, yeah. And I'll kind of touch on that. I think that'll. Oh,
- 16:47that'll come in the qualities and
- 16:50drawbacks.
- 16:51>> Skylar: Perfect. So, I mean. Yeah, that's fantastic. Let's jump
- 16:54into this dive right into their choices of qualities and
- 16:57drawbacks.
- 16:58>> Fatty Lumpkins: So, yeah, in college, I'm sure everyone is probably aware
- 17:00that the sleep and the meals are probably
- 17:03not the best.
- 17:05>> Skylar: Yeah.
- 17:06>> Fatty Lumpkins: So I think that was probably one of my, I'll call
- 17:09this a quality of resistance
- 17:11to
- 17:14exhaustion.
- 17:15>> Skylar: Yeah.
- 17:15>> Fatty Lumpkins: So especially with gradually. Pretty
- 17:18adept at studying for
- 17:21till 2am in the morning and taking a nap,
- 17:23waking up at 6am to start again. So,
- 17:26we're gonna give myself resistance to exhaustion.
- 17:30On that same note, is really
- 17:33did not put forth a lot of effort when it came to the cooking.
- 17:36So I will be the
- 17:39first to admit that I threw together some gnarly
- 17:41combinations.
- 17:42>> Skylar: Fair enough.
- 17:43>> Fatty Lumpkins: So I'm going to consider that resistance to
- 17:45poison. Absolutely miracle that I did not end up with food
- 17:48poison. And to this day, food safety is a
- 17:51joke.
- 17:53>> Skylar: And we have had discussions about that, now that I think about it.
- 17:55>> Fatty Lumpkins: Yes. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger.
- 17:58>> Skylar: It does. It does. It helps you fight or it gives.
- 18:00>> Fatty Lumpkins: You IBSC or D.
- 18:06So some of the other qualities, situational,
- 18:09awareness. That's. Yeah, I
- 18:12enjoy people watching, so we'll call that situational
- 18:15awareness.
- 18:15>> Skylar: Okay.
- 18:16>> Fatty Lumpkins: And then for drawbacks, I
- 18:18usually just say pharmacy school killed all the fun in me,
- 18:21so that's kind of where I, gave myself a
- 18:24drawback. And to contrast, Dave's
- 18:27good Luck, I do not have a lot of luck, so I'm
- 18:30going to give myself bad luck on that.
- 18:32>> Skylar: Awesome. And just for those listening, so as far as
- 18:34the luck works, so Dave took good
- 18:37luck, and on the other hand, Fatty
- 18:40has taken bad luck. And they work basically the
- 18:43same way. they are points either in positive if
- 18:46you took good luck, or negative points
- 18:49if you took bad luck. And those points can be
- 18:51used at any point during the, game
- 18:54to either benefit a particular
- 18:57situation in which case you'd want to spend the good luck,
- 19:00or hinder a situation when you're willing to spend
- 19:03the bad luck. so for
- 19:06instance, if Dave were in a situation where he really
- 19:09needed to make this, he was trying to shoot a
- 19:12zombie and he really needed to make this shot, he could
- 19:14say, all right, Skyler, I want to spend a point of
- 19:17my good luck to add a plus
- 19:20one to my role here and to
- 19:23ensure that he gets a nine or whatever the case.
- 19:26on the other hand, Fatty has a point in
- 19:29bad luck. And the way that we've kind of justified this because you're probably thinking,
- 19:32okay, well, if they get to choose when they get to spend
- 19:35it, could Fatty just say, never
- 19:38by the end of this campaign not have spent it? to which I
- 19:41said, and honestly, you had pitched
- 19:43it, which was if you haven't spent
- 19:46it by the end, when the end comes up and whatever
- 19:49big showdown or whatever is going on at the end, I
- 19:52will, I, as the zombie master, will spend it for you.
- 19:55I will take that minus one off of
- 19:58something important that you're about to do, maybe to keep you alive or to
- 20:01keep an NPC alive. So, it's one of those things where, you
- 20:04know, you might find a situation where you say,
- 20:07hey, I feel really confident, or I have a lot of
- 20:09numbers, loaded up on this particular skill. I'll
- 20:12take the bad luck now, and probably still
- 20:15succeed. And that's, that's, that's definitely a way to do
- 20:18it. but otherwise that's, that's how luck works in
- 20:21this game. Normally it'd be used in kind of more of a
- 20:23supernatural situation, but we're not, we're really
- 20:26setting this in real life per se.
- 20:29and some, some people are just lucky and some people aren't. It is what it
- 20:32is. So, but anyway, sorry, jumping back over to Fatty
- 20:35Lumpkins, your, your skills. So, yes,
- 20:38you've got a list here as well.
- 20:40>> Fatty Lumpkins: And I think I'll piggyback on Dave's take here
- 20:42is I played a lot of Minecraft in college.
- 20:45And yeah, I would say that I was pretty good at it all
- 20:48right. Making some of those cool sculptures, only
- 20:50to log in the next day to find out that your roommate
- 20:53had put a penis on one of the sculptures.
- 20:56So I was pretty good at disguising that.
- 20:59>> Skylar: Oh, okay. Just, put some clothes on or. Yeah, some
- 21:01underwear.
- 21:02>> Fatty Lumpkins: and then some of the skills are the boring ones that had
- 21:05come about from school. So there's math
- 21:08and general note taking, rote
- 21:11memorization. Maybe there'll be a
- 21:14puzzle or riddle that we'll need to solve and I can
- 21:16memorize. It's left, left, right, left, right.
- 21:19>> Skylar: That's right.
- 21:19>> Fatty Lumpkins: We'll see.
- 21:20>> Skylar: Up, down, R, L,
- 21:23R, start.
- 21:26>> Fatty Lumpkins: some of the other things is played a lot of disc golf
- 21:28in school, so maybe I'll find
- 21:31myself a pile of plates that I can
- 21:34fashion into discs and chuck out the hordes of
- 21:37zombies. And then other
- 21:40skills just came about from random summer jobs.
- 21:42So mowing power tools.
- 21:46Maybe I'll find myself in a Sears and be able to
- 21:49weaponize some of those materials.
- 21:51>> Skylar: They are. Power tools are very weaponizable,
- 21:54for sure.
- 21:56>> Fatty Lumpkins: And what else? I've kind of been skipping around
- 21:59here. So computers.
- 22:02I'm a millennial. I should be somewhat familiar
- 22:04with computers. I enjoy the general
- 22:07trivia. So useless knowledge. Maybe
- 22:10I'll be able to flout some.
- 22:11>> Skylar: Of that about pairs with the memorization stuff
- 22:14pretty well.
- 22:16>> Fatty Lumpkins: particular categories of useless knowledge include the
- 22:18skills of being big Lord of the Rings
- 22:21fan, big Harry Potter fan. So maybe I'll
- 22:24be able to make some of those references. If not,
- 22:27I recommend reading those. So, yes,
- 22:30go to your local library.
- 22:32>> Skylar: Absolutely.
- 22:33>> Fatty Lumpkins: And then I think that about covers it.
- 22:36>> Skylar: The only one I see that I don't know if you mentioned was
- 22:39customer service.
- 22:40>> Fatty Lumpkins: Yeah, that goes with the summer job. So
- 22:42mowing power tools and customer service.
- 22:44>> Skylar: Moen power tools and customer service.
- 22:47>> Fatty Lumpkins: Those are separate jobs. One job does not
- 22:49equate all three of those qualities.
- 22:51>> Skylar: I didn't give good customer service for two
- 22:54of those. You only
- 22:57get one thing from me, and it's
- 23:00either customer service knowledge of the
- 23:03products or.
- 23:04>> Fatty Lumpkins: Exactly.
- 23:06>> Skylar: Awesome. Fantastic. So that takes care of Fatty Lumpkin's
- 23:09character. And then last but not least, we'll jump over
- 23:12to our last player. for. For at
- 23:14least, ah, where we're at right now, there's a possibility we might
- 23:17add in somebody, depending on where things are at next,
- 23:20time we record. But right now, we have Quinn.
- 23:23Quinn. Tell us about Quinn in 2016.
- 23:26>> Quinn: Unlike these guys, I was, I was working a couple different
- 23:29jobs.
- 23:29>> Skylar: Yep.
- 23:30>> Quinn: So, I put, for the primary abilities,
- 23:32like, I just kind of went with. Even
- 23:35across the board.
- 23:36>> Skylar: Yeah, you are pretty.
- 23:37>> Quinn: Yeah. Just even across the board. And I put a little extra in perception
- 23:40and constitution.
- 23:41>> Skylar: So it's like twos and threes.
- 23:43>> Quinn: Two twos and everything except perception. Constituent. I did threes,
- 23:46and I was. I just kind of evened it out. I feel like.
- 23:47>> Fatty Lumpkins: Yeah.
- 23:48>> Quinn: You know, I wasn't really an average guy. Just pretty
- 23:50average. Just really, you know, for
- 23:53some of my qualities, I use acute
- 23:56senses. Yeah, I put a couple in that.
- 23:59Good, luck. I put a couple in that.
- 24:00>> Skylar: Absolutely.
- 24:01>> Quinn: You know, I. Even though, you know, get into it
- 24:04later with my gambling, you know, the gambling. Just
- 24:06turned 21, you know, and, so the
- 24:09gambling skill, you know, I feel like I had good luck, even though I probably
- 24:12didn't. And then
- 24:15the resistance. I can hold it.
- 24:20I have a fear of public restrooms.
- 24:22>> Skylar: Yes.
- 24:23>> Quinn: So, I have been made fun of
- 24:25and joked about. I tend
- 24:28to not like using a public restroom. So
- 24:31I can hold it.
- 24:32>> Skylar: Have you seen the status of our public facilities?
- 24:35>> Quinn: Well, it's not good. It's not good.
- 24:38It's not good.
- 24:39>> Skylar: I actually really appreciate this because, there is a
- 24:42situation. So throughout the game, I will have.
- 24:45If something happens, something comes up. You guys will be
- 24:47making, fear rolls. And fear rolls,
- 24:50basically, it's kind of like everything else that we've described so
- 24:53far. You're going to be rolling the D10. you'll be using your
- 24:55willpower. And basically it's to keep yourself
- 24:58from kind of. You guys are regular people, right? Like
- 25:01Your average dudes 2016. You haven't
- 25:04experienced, you know, war
- 25:06or, you know, horrible tragedies or
- 25:09things that would, like, really horribly,
- 25:12traumatize a person. And then all of a sudden,
- 25:15you're thrown into a zombie apocalypse type
- 25:17situation, and you're gonna see things that
- 25:20you've never seen or ever wanted to see before.
- 25:23in reference to that. And so that causes fear. Right.
- 25:26And to emphasize on that fear, that's when you have
- 25:29to make those fear rolls to avoid, like,
- 25:32freezing up or in Quinn's case, you
- 25:35know, maybe peeing yourself. Right.
- 25:38So by having the resistance of I can
- 25:40hold it, it actually very much could come into
- 25:43play if you were to ever hit that point where you might
- 25:46end up peeing yourself, which would be a problem. Right.
- 25:49Like, it's gonna cause some m. Some inconvenience, to say the
- 25:52least.
- 25:53>> Quinn: Yeah. And then just for some skills, I'm not gonna go through everything.
- 25:55>> Skylar: Yeah.
- 25:56>> Quinn: but, you know, I had a couple driving jobs, so I put
- 25:59My skill at driving is like a three.
- 26:02That, would be for car. And then I did get into driving like a, like a
- 26:04bigger truck towards the end. So I'm gonna put that as a two.
- 26:07>> Skylar: Yep.
- 26:08>> Quinn: you know, like the, like, kind of like them computers, electronics. I
- 26:10just, I'm not the most knowledgeable, but I still, I do know a little
- 26:13bit. So I just kind of put those at just an average, like a
- 26:17gaming kind of like they were saying. I had that in there, you know, as
- 26:20a one, cooking. You know,
- 26:23I, I worked, at a taco place for quite a while.
- 26:25>> Skylar: That's right.
- 26:27>> Quinn: you know, the gambling's in there.
- 26:30the, the one that I'll say is the, the
- 26:33funniest one probably is I first time
- 26:36worked at a nursing home.
- 26:38>> Skylar: That's right.
- 26:38>> Quinn: So I know an awful lot about wheelchairs.
- 26:41So wheelchair operation is a two,
- 26:44so you never know. But I know how those
- 26:47wheelchairs work.
- 26:48>> Skylar: Hey, it's people that probably haven't used a lot of
- 26:50wheelchairs. Between the rest of us, I mean, I don't
- 26:53know, maybe fatty, you've had some experience in the medical
- 26:56field? No. Okay. So between the rest of us, we don't know a whole
- 26:59lot about the ins and outs of wheelchairs. So you've got all the
- 27:02secret knowledge of those probably
- 27:04plenty of little levers and other
- 27:08things.
- 27:08>> Quinn: There's really not that much.
- 27:09>> Skylar: Oh, okay.
- 27:10>> Quinn: But, very well might be able to weaponize one. You never
- 27:13know. You never know if anybody out there.
- 27:15>> Skylar: Who'S listening has ever played like, Dead Rising 2,
- 27:18slash, any of the sequels there. There's
- 27:21definitely at least one, if not multiple, like,
- 27:24wheelchair mod weapon mods that you can make in
- 27:27the game. And they get wild, they get pretty crazy.
- 27:30>> Quinn: So, yeah, we'll see if that comes into
- 27:32play at all.
- 27:33>> Skylar: Awesome. All right, well, that is everything as
- 27:36far as these guys go. this will come out at the same time that
- 27:39episode one comes out. So you guys can definitely check
- 27:41that as well. Right after you finish listening to this. Like
- 27:44I said, as the, Zombie Master, I've created basically a
- 27:472016. It's Black Friday,
- 27:50so Thanksgiving night. I know we all call it
- 27:53Black Friday, but ironically, by 2016 it had worked
- 27:56its way into, holiday about giving
- 27:58thanks. And it'll be set at
- 28:01around 6pm I actually, looked up, I had
- 28:04to Google 2016 Black Friday
- 28:07ads, And I actually got slapped with some nostalgia
- 28:10because I explicitly remember like being at home
- 28:13because we would have been on Christmas. Well, just general
- 28:16like break from those of us that were in
- 28:18college, looking at these ads and circling
- 28:21items that I was going to go run out and try to get once,
- 28:24you know, the sales started at about 6pm was how
- 28:27far I had gotten. And I think that was pretty much the max. I think that's
- 28:30about where things hit. We're in
- 28:322024 now after everything that happened with COVID
- 28:35I mean, Black Friday is pretty much extinct at this point.
- 28:38It really doesn't exist because everything's online now.
- 28:41which is honestly nice. I'm not trying to sit here and advocate
- 28:44against it, but at the same time, I think we all saw some
- 28:47of the sort of modern day first world
- 28:49atrocities that kind of stemmed from Black Friday
- 28:52people trampling each other and just the general irony
- 28:55of we're here on a day to give thanks and instead
- 28:58we're out beating each other up and pushing past
- 29:01each other and so on and forth to get a deal at
- 29:04a store. It's unfortunate.
- 29:07but I'm excited, to jump into this. So I
- 29:10will jump off so that you guys can tune into
- 29:13episode one of Black Friday of the
- 29:16Dead.
