- 0:00Speaker 1: This past Seattle.
- 0:03Speaker 2: Welcome to Seattle Krakin Hockey on the Global Credit Union
- 0:07Speaker 2: Krakenn Audio Network, brought to you by Coor's Life, Your
- 0:11Speaker 2: Western Washington, Toyota Dealers, Virginia Mason, Franciscan Health, Muckleshoot Casino Resort,
- 0:17Speaker 2: and by Luna and Simetra.
- 0:21Speaker 1: The calendar has flipped to twenty twenty six and the
- 0:24Speaker 1: Seattle Cracket are riding a five game point streak into
- 0:27Speaker 1: the new year. Following a three to two shootout loss
- 0:30Speaker 1: on Monday Night, the Kraken Enter play tonight, just two
- 0:33Speaker 1: points back of that second and final wildcard spot in
- 0:36Speaker 1: the West. Standing in their way tonight is the Nashville Predators,
- 0:40Speaker 1: who are one point up on Seattle and have won
- 0:42Speaker 1: twelve of their last seventeen games after a less than
- 0:46Speaker 1: ideal start to the season with just six wins in
- 0:49Speaker 1: their first twenty two. Good evening, ladies and gentlemen, Happy
- 0:52Speaker 1: new Year, and welcome back inside of Climate Pledgerina alongside
- 0:56Speaker 1: Big al Kiniski, I am everet viz you. This is
- 0:58Speaker 1: Seattle Crack and Hockey on the Global Credit Union Cracking
- 1:01Speaker 1: Audio Network. You are listening to the pregame show served
- 1:04Speaker 1: up by Frostbrew Corps Light Choose Chill, new year, new
- 1:09Speaker 1: locale for a big al as he's between the benches tonight.
- 1:12Speaker 1: Happy to see you down there, partner. Hopefully you can
- 1:15Speaker 1: redeem yourself. Last time you were down there, things didn't
- 1:18Speaker 1: go so well.
- 1:19Speaker 2: We'll talk about that.
- 1:20Speaker 3: My goals against the Averages and looking so good. Round's
- 1:22Speaker 3: so good.
- 1:23Speaker 1: The Kraken wrapped up the year with a three to
- 1:26Speaker 1: two shootout loss. They kept their points steak alive now
- 1:29Speaker 1: to five games. Not a whole lot to really be
- 1:32Speaker 1: disappointed about, maybe outside of the shootout waiting on one
- 1:35Speaker 1: for six performance from the power play, but Lane Lambert
- 1:37Speaker 1: overall happy with the effort in that game.
- 1:40Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:40Speaker 3: Absolutely again for the sixth game in a row, because
- 1:42Speaker 3: the crack can get the first goal of the game,
- 1:44Speaker 3: all always so important, and that was a big step
- 1:46Speaker 3: in the right direction because it was Jared mccannon the
- 1:48Speaker 3: power play getting that first goal of the game and
- 1:50Speaker 3: coming under that first period two to one. You felt
- 1:52Speaker 3: really good where thinks stood.
- 1:54Speaker 1: Goaltending has had to be the best player for the
- 1:57Speaker 1: Kraken a lot of times this season. Again tonight we're
- 2:00Speaker 1: gonna get a look at Philip Dreubauer, who has won
- 2:02Speaker 1: back to back starts, thirty three saves against Philly back
- 2:06Speaker 1: over the weekend on Sunday and then going before the
- 2:09Speaker 1: break he had forty one saves in Anaheim as well.
- 2:12Speaker 1: Philip Drewbauer gonna have another tough test here tonight, but
- 2:15Speaker 1: he's been playing some real good hockey this season.
- 2:18Speaker 3: Yeah, he has two and three in his last five.
- 2:20Speaker 3: With those two wins, he's averaged night or He's had
- 2:23Speaker 3: nine seven six save percentages and nine to seven zero
- 2:25Speaker 3: save percentage over the last five nine to three four
- 2:29Speaker 3: save percentages while stopping an average of thirty four shots
- 2:32Speaker 3: on goals. So he's seen a lot of pucks in
- 2:34Speaker 3: the games and he's up to the challenge over the
- 2:36Speaker 3: last five for sure.
- 2:37Speaker 1: On the other side of the red line, this is
- 2:40Speaker 1: a Nashville Penators team that had a lot of high
- 2:42Speaker 1: hopes coming into the year. They started this season six
- 2:46Speaker 1: twelve and four. They have won twelve of their last
- 2:49Speaker 1: seventeen games since, including going ten to four in the
- 2:54Speaker 1: month of December, outscoring team sixty one to forty eight
- 2:57Speaker 1: in their last seventeen games, with four or more in
- 3:00Speaker 1: their last nine, so I say all that to say
- 3:03Speaker 1: this Nashville team has really pulled a one to eighty
- 3:06Speaker 1: over the last month and a half of the season.
- 3:08Speaker 3: Yeah, they've been searching just what the Kracking have been searching.
- 3:10Speaker 3: So a couple of teams are gonna surge and hit
- 3:13Speaker 3: each other head on here tonight. I think special teams
- 3:15Speaker 3: are going to be important part over the last five
- 3:18Speaker 3: cracking three and twelve for twenty five percent over the
- 3:20Speaker 3: last ten, twenty nine percent. Penalty kill has been getting better,
- 3:23Speaker 3: no longer in the seller as well over the last
- 3:26Speaker 3: five games ninety two point eight percent on the kill
- 3:28Speaker 3: and ninety three point seven over the last ten. So
- 3:31Speaker 3: if you take the last five to ten games for
- 3:32Speaker 3: the Cracking, their special teams are absolutely going in the
- 3:35Speaker 3: right direction.
- 3:36Speaker 1: Crack in begin their third of four consecutive back to
- 3:40Speaker 1: back sets. This is game one of seventeen, tying an
- 3:44Speaker 1: NHL record for a calendar month or January for the Cracking.
- 3:48Speaker 1: Well come back Mike Benson on the Course Night landing

- 7:05Speaker 12: Betton again with you back by the Corps line, landing
- 7:06Speaker 12: in section twenty here at climb the Pledge Arena with
- 7:09Speaker 12: a Kraken coming in right now sixteen fourteen and seven
- 7:13Speaker 12: point total at thirty nine and facing a big matchup
- 7:16Speaker 12: here for this evening. As far as implications in the standings,
- 7:20Speaker 12: they are one point back of who they're facing in Nashville,
- 7:23Speaker 12: who comes in eighteen seventeen and four add forty points
- 7:28Speaker 12: on the campaign, and the Kraken right now two points
- 7:31Speaker 12: out of the cut line in the Western Conference heading
- 7:34Speaker 12: into matchup one of three against Nashville. Well last time out,
- 7:38Speaker 12: last game before we said Happy New Year. The Kraken
- 7:41Speaker 12: we're pushing hard in the end of back to back
- 7:44Speaker 12: but ultimately settling for a three to two shootout loss
- 7:47Speaker 12: against Vancouver despite goals from Jared McCann and Ryan Winterton
- 7:50Speaker 12: would join you to court, also turning in twenty two
- 7:53Speaker 12: saves yet the power play, leaving a ton perhaps on
- 7:57Speaker 12: the table, going one of six in that game, including
- 8:00Speaker 12: a four on three man advantage in sudden depth overtime,
- 8:03Speaker 12: but the penalty kill turning up huge once again, two
- 8:06Speaker 12: of two on the night, and the Kraken in back
- 8:09Speaker 12: to backs. Despite the shootout loss, you have finding a
- 8:11Speaker 12: way to force ot or get a win in the
- 8:14Speaker 12: last previous three games on the back end of back
- 8:18Speaker 12: to back games. And they're gonna face more of this
- 8:20Speaker 12: coming up here for this month because as Everett said,
- 8:23Speaker 12: they're gonna play now in seventeen games in thirty one
- 8:26Speaker 12: days and at breakneck speed nineteen of the next thirty
- 8:30Speaker 12: five days before the Olympic break. So for this evening,
- 8:34Speaker 12: as we say Happy New Year, can the Kraken turn
- 8:36Speaker 12: this new year from similar results into more of the
- 8:40Speaker 12: same as far as the last five games or on
- 8:43Speaker 12: a four to zho to one run now tie for
- 8:45Speaker 12: the fourth longest point run in the four plus years
- 8:48Speaker 12: of this franchise, and they're facing their fourth time playing
- 8:51Speaker 12: on New Year's Day in five years. By the way,
- 8:54Speaker 12: that holding a two to one record in that respect.
- 8:57Speaker 12: Big part of this four oh to one run so
- 8:59Speaker 12: far the penalty kill the crack in thirteen to the
- 9:02Speaker 12: last fourteen, third best in the NHL in that span.
- 9:05Speaker 12: The only two teams better, by the way are Colorado
- 9:08Speaker 12: and the Columbus Blue Jackets. Goaltending also a big part
- 9:11Speaker 12: of this last five games teams say percentage nine to
- 9:15Speaker 12: five to three that is best in the NHL. And
- 9:18Speaker 12: your leading scorers so far on this run two thirds
- 9:21Speaker 12: of the Chandler Stevenson line, that being Ellie Tolvinen right
- 9:25Speaker 12: now first on the Kraken eight points in this run.
- 9:28Speaker 12: Chandler Stevenson typer second five points five games, Jordan Ebery
- 9:32Speaker 12: also matching him, but also with four goals as well.
- 9:35Speaker 12: With the captains certainly heating up at a very very
- 9:38Speaker 12: opportune time. Additionally, the krack in finding a way to
- 9:41Speaker 12: get on the board first. They have scored first now
- 9:43Speaker 12: in six rate games for one and one record in
- 9:47Speaker 12: that span, so they're looking for more of the same
- 9:49Speaker 12: with essentially no lineup changes on as far as forwards
- 9:53Speaker 12: or defenseman here for this one. Their cracking story lines
- 9:57Speaker 12: first up begin with this guy on a tear back.
- 10:01Speaker 1: Into the offensive zone four seattle, but here behind the
- 10:04Speaker 1: goal far quarter and front.
- 10:07Speaker 13: Every suits goal turn it every goals in three straight
- 10:18Speaker 13: games as couple Cucko feeds it from the right corner.
- 10:22Speaker 1: It's a wonderfing cracking lead.
- 10:24Speaker 12: Sixteen to twelve to play in the second, every carrying
- 10:28Speaker 12: a four game point scoring streak, here into this matchup
- 10:32Speaker 12: is fourteen goals right now first on the Kraken, which
- 10:35Speaker 12: will put him on pace for a thirty one goal campaign,
- 10:38Speaker 12: and against Nashville he has been very effective with seventeen
- 10:41Speaker 12: goals in thirty points this evening, also playing in game
- 10:44Speaker 12: one thousand and ninety eight of his NHL career. Your
- 10:48Speaker 12: second storyline potentially a power play rebound after coming up
- 10:51Speaker 12: with just one goal in six chances so yet the
- 10:54Speaker 12: numbers say the Kraken should get their chances. Nashville comes
- 10:57Speaker 12: in six most minor penalties committed in the NHL this season,
- 11:01Speaker 12: plus the power play goals in nine to thirteen games
- 11:04Speaker 12: from this last month, so cashing in could be a
- 11:08Speaker 12: huge key here for this evening. In your third storyline,
- 11:11Speaker 12: Philip Grubauer and netts with good numbers against Nashville. Despite
- 11:14Speaker 12: his head to head record of four and five, he
- 11:16Speaker 12: owns a nine to ten say percentage intent head to
- 11:19Speaker 12: head matchups, and this game will be his first against
- 11:21Speaker 12: Nashville in nearly two years. He's also aiming for his
- 11:25Speaker 12: first win over the Predators since November two of twenty
- 11:28Speaker 12: twenty three. Let's hear more from the Kraken with Ellie
- 11:32Speaker 12: Tolbenen facing his former team and he's on a heater
- 11:34Speaker 12: right now at the right time. And with that heater,
- 11:37Speaker 12: he said he gives credit to his linemates in Chandler
- 11:40Speaker 12: Stevenson and Freddie Gudrou.
- 11:43Speaker 14: Yeah, obviously there are two really good players. And he's
- 11:45Speaker 14: to play with players like that. You know, they see
- 11:47Speaker 14: the ice well, you know, the skill set they have,
- 11:51Speaker 14: the points they play, you know, it's games gives stem room,
- 11:55Speaker 14: it leaves me a room stu arding. And you know,
- 11:59Speaker 14: I think in the past and I think as a
- 12:01Speaker 14: line we played really good hockey. You know, I've got
- 12:04Speaker 14: lucky in the points too, but I think getting a big,
- 12:08Speaker 14: big minisy defensively and I think we've done pretty much.
- 12:11Speaker 12: He'll be the in the scope of cracking veterans picking
- 12:14Speaker 12: up their game. It's also yet been hard to ignore
- 12:16Speaker 12: the Ben Meyers line, whether you want to call them
- 12:18Speaker 12: the fourth line or not, they have a role and
- 12:21Speaker 12: it's abrasiveness. Meyer's being the key faceoff guy as well,
- 12:25Speaker 12: in between what has been typically Jacob Allans and Ryan
- 12:28Speaker 12: Winterton and also a combination of Ty Carcier, and so
- 12:31Speaker 12: it's easy to wonder the effect that his line has
- 12:34Speaker 12: on the rest of the team, and Myers said that
- 12:36Speaker 12: that line has a role and they know what it's
- 12:39Speaker 12: got to be.
- 12:39Speaker 4: Yeah, we're trying to be reliable in all three zones,
- 12:42Speaker 4: and you know, I think the more you know, we
- 12:44Speaker 4: can be responsible and you know, take some dzeled draws
- 12:47Speaker 4: and take some pressure off, you know, some of the
- 12:49Speaker 4: top lines. All right, guys that are playing more and
- 12:53Speaker 4: I think it helps our group and you know, we're
- 12:55Speaker 4: just trying to bring energy.
- 12:56Speaker 1: At the end of the day.
- 12:57Speaker 4: I think that's that's what we're on that line for,
- 13:00Speaker 4: and you know that's the main goal.
- 13:02Speaker 12: You will also notice something this evening different about Berkeley
- 13:05Speaker 12: Catton if you have your eyes on the ice. With
- 13:07Speaker 12: this radio broadcast, he changed his jersey number and GM
- 13:11Speaker 12: Jason Botterrell offering Caton's familiar twenty seven to him from
- 13:15Speaker 12: his Spokane Chiefs days. So off goes seventy seven and
- 13:18Speaker 12: ongos twenty seven, and Canton said the number has an
- 13:22Speaker 12: even deeper meaning.
- 13:23Speaker 15: Is my mom's birthday to day of her birthday, so
- 13:25Speaker 15: I've always just kind of worn it. I think she
- 13:27Speaker 15: actually picked it for me when I was young enough,
- 13:29Speaker 15: So that's kind of how it started, and I always
- 13:31Speaker 15: kind of had it growing up and obviously in Spokane,
- 13:33Speaker 15: so you know, my favorite number. And I'm not a
- 13:36Speaker 15: superstitious guy or anything, but it is cool to wear it.
- 13:40Speaker 12: That sets the scene on the Crack Inside. We'll come
- 13:42Speaker 12: back in a bit and take a look at Nashville.
- 13:43Speaker 12: After this. You're listening to the Global Credit Union crack
- 13:46Speaker 12: An Audio Network.

- 16:29Speaker 12: they had in December, marking their second best run in
- 16:32Speaker 12: franchise history. For that month, they have won five of six.
- 16:36Speaker 12: They have won the close ones, all of them, by
- 16:38Speaker 12: the way, those wins down to two goals or less.
- 16:41Speaker 12: And they're playing here today and back to back after
- 16:43Speaker 12: beating Vegas four to two yesterday, which included Steven Stanco
- 16:47Speaker 12: scoring his six hundredth career NHL goal. Here's a future
- 16:51Speaker 12: Hall of Famer before rolling into Seattle on the meaning
- 16:55Speaker 12: of scoring goals six hundred in Vegas.
- 16:58Speaker 17: Yeah, I mean awesome to do it in in a
- 17:00Speaker 17: win like this with how we're going as a group,
- 17:03Speaker 17: That's how you envision doing something special like that. Really
- 17:06Speaker 17: cool to have the guys come on the ice and
- 17:08Speaker 17: share that moment. So glad it happened quick in the game.
- 17:12Speaker 17: That's one of those things that can linger a little bit,
- 17:14Speaker 17: and I'm glad it was the next game after getting
- 17:16Speaker 17: five ninety nine, and like I said, to do it
- 17:19Speaker 17: to have a goal in a win, and an effort
- 17:21Speaker 17: like that on the road was icing on the cake.
- 17:24Speaker 12: His play hasn't just been window dressing. He leads Nashville
- 17:27Speaker 12: eighteen goals this season. He's been clutched also four game
- 17:31Speaker 12: winning goals in the last six games. Ryan O'Reilly, by
- 17:34Speaker 12: the way, a subject of trade talks here to begin
- 17:37Speaker 12: this season. Right now, still leading Nashville with thirty four
- 17:40Speaker 12: points as well on the campaign, so a big question
- 17:42Speaker 12: here for Nashville can they get through a gauntlet of
- 17:45Speaker 12: a road trip. But so far, so good on their end.
- 17:47Speaker 12: They're two and zero with wins at Utah in Vegas
- 17:50Speaker 12: after this as well the Kraken following that Calgary and Edmonton,
- 17:55Speaker 12: and they're back home one week here from now. Nashville
- 17:58Speaker 12: storylines first up begin with the faceoff circle and they're
- 18:01Speaker 12: one of the better teams in the NHL in that category,
- 18:04Speaker 12: seventh best at fifty two percent. Ryan O'Reilly leads them
- 18:08Speaker 12: fifty four percent of their draws he's won. Others include
- 18:11Speaker 12: Michael mcairn fifty three percent at the dot also used
- 18:14Speaker 12: a ton on the penalty kill, and Eric Halla at
- 18:18Speaker 12: fifty two percent. Secondly, a homecoming of swords here for
- 18:22Speaker 12: Reed Schaefer, a rookie for from Spruce Grove, Alberta. But
- 18:26Speaker 12: if you follow Seattle on the WHL the Thunderbirds, you
- 18:29Speaker 12: might recall his name. He won a WHL title with
- 18:32Speaker 12: them three years ago. He's here. Brother Clark is also
- 18:36Speaker 12: here tonight. He's an everage silver tips forward and reads.
- 18:39Speaker 12: Parents and billets are also here, marking his first game
- 18:42Speaker 12: back here in the Pacific Northwest since his WHL days,
- 18:46Speaker 12: and he also has points in back to back games.
- 18:50Speaker 12: That's here more from Nashville, and they've been dialed in
- 18:52Speaker 12: with goaltender UC Sorrows, who will start in net. But
- 18:55Speaker 12: their starts have been bumpy in for the last five
- 18:57Speaker 12: games they have given up the first goal, but Stamco
- 19:00Speaker 12: said they're still finding ways to win.
- 19:03Speaker 17: Yeah, this group is not quitting, that's for sure. And
- 19:05Speaker 17: we've seen it over the past couple of games. We
- 19:06Speaker 17: saw it last game and we got to fix the starts.
- 19:09Speaker 17: That's something that's been a little concerning. But you know,
- 19:12Speaker 17: the group beared down. How our play was big special teams,
- 19:15Speaker 17: big kill at the end as well, and you know
- 19:18Speaker 17: another juice playing great nets. So it's a recipe for wins,
- 19:21Speaker 17: especially on the road. It's not always pretty, certainly wasn't
- 19:25Speaker 17: in certain moments today, but you find a way and
- 19:27Speaker 17: you grind and that's.

- 21:45Speaker 1: the new year, Kracking trying to push that point streak
- 21:48Speaker 1: to six games evert fits you, Al Kaniski between the
- 21:52Speaker 1: benches here tonight, Partner Cracking trying to leap frog the
- 21:57Speaker 1: Preds and go into a tie for that second and
- 22:00Speaker 1: final wildcard spot. Give us some keys on how they
- 22:03Speaker 1: can get that done.
- 22:04Speaker 3: Here today with groove staying hot, Philip Grubauer needs to
- 22:08Speaker 3: keep playing like a guy who just found an extra
- 22:10Speaker 3: gear in the glove compartment. Calm, calm, square and stubborn
- 22:15Speaker 3: as a parking meter that won't take your credit card.
- 22:18Speaker 3: Crew has to frustrate Nashville early if he's seeing pucks
- 22:21Speaker 3: clean and he's controlling the rebounds. The Kraken bench gets
- 22:24Speaker 3: loud and confident in a hurry Secondly, speed kills, especially
- 22:29Speaker 3: against big predators. Nashville brings size, muscle, and that we
- 22:32Speaker 3: eat our protein look, so Seattle has to counter with
- 22:35Speaker 3: rocket fuel, quick puck movement, fast exits and relentless pressure
- 22:39Speaker 3: turned big bodies into slow pivots. Make the prebs chase
- 22:43Speaker 3: all night and by the third period their lakes should
- 22:45Speaker 3: feel like they spent New Year's dancing in cowboy boots,
- 22:48Speaker 3: and then third Blue Line has to light it up.
- 22:51Speaker 3: Seattle needs more offense from the defense, shots, movement, and
- 22:55Speaker 3: chaos from the point. Ryker Evans was the last Blue
- 22:57Speaker 3: Liner to score five games ago. When San Jose get
- 23:01Speaker 3: pucks through traffic, crash the net and let the forwards
- 23:04Speaker 3: hunt rebounds like seagulls a peer fifty seven on a
- 23:06Speaker 3: drop bag of French fries. When the Blue Line contributes,
- 23:09Speaker 3: the craken attack becomes a five lane freeway instead of
- 23:12Speaker 3: a two lane dirt road. So in summary, the recipe
- 23:15Speaker 3: is simple. Group guards the net like it's New Year's resolutions,
- 23:19Speaker 3: speed turned size into a liability, and the defense joins
- 23:22Speaker 3: the party offensively. Do that Nashville spends the night reaching
- 23:26Speaker 3: instead of checking. If all three keys click here, climate
- 23:30Speaker 3: pledge will feel less like a cocky rink and more
- 23:32Speaker 3: like a rock concert with the Predators stuck in the moshpin.
- 23:34Speaker 3: And trust me, Seattle likes those odds.
- 23:37Speaker 1: I'm gonna add a fourth key for you, partner. Yeah,
- 23:39Speaker 1: the fourth line tonight has got to do what they
- 23:42Speaker 1: do best. And I know that you really like the
- 23:44Speaker 1: play of Winter, Jon Myers and the Laws and Carcia
- 23:47Speaker 1: healthy scratch for the second consecutive game. So winterton stays
- 23:51Speaker 1: on the left side of that fourth line, but they
- 23:53Speaker 1: have been lights out in a lot of different areas
- 23:57Speaker 1: for this team in the last week and a half
- 23:58Speaker 1: two weeks.
- 23:59Speaker 3: Well, there's something he's looking for in your fourth line.
- 24:01Speaker 3: Enough physicality and not being a liability on defense. And
- 24:04Speaker 3: we heard Lane Lambert talk about that that he feels
- 24:06Speaker 3: more confident having them out for a defense of zone
- 24:08Speaker 3: draw so that his more offensive lines can go out
- 24:11Speaker 3: when there's an offensive zone draws. So when you have
- 24:13Speaker 3: that confidence in your fourth line, they're playing physical and
- 24:16Speaker 3: these guys are fast. What that starts to create is
- 24:19Speaker 3: offensive opportunities as well. And we saw that last game
- 24:21Speaker 3: with the winterting goal.
- 24:23Speaker 1: He's got five assists, he's got twenty four games under
- 24:26Speaker 1: his NHL belt, and now he has a new number,
- 24:29Speaker 1: Berkeley Catton, going back to his Spokane Chiefs number seven,
- 24:34Speaker 1: the twenty seven from seventy seven. I mean we have
- 24:38Speaker 1: to have a Berkeley Catton patric incoming, right. I mean,
- 24:41Speaker 1: what does this mean changing a number midway through the year.
- 24:45Speaker 1: He looks good in that two seven house set.
- 24:48Speaker 3: I mean, I'll tell you there are been times in
- 24:49Speaker 3: my playing pass where you do get the number you want,
- 24:53Speaker 3: maybe somebody else leaves the team for whatever reason and
- 24:55Speaker 3: it's available. There is kind of an X factor there
- 24:58Speaker 3: when you have the number you want your back, and
- 25:00Speaker 3: I'm looking forward to seeing what effect the house on
- 25:02Speaker 3: Berkeley Catton's game tonight. So Berkeley Catton's number twenty seven. Hey, al,

- 27:52Speaker 1: Thanks Mike, Happy New Year to you, Bud Lane. You
- 27:55Speaker 1: have a five game point street going right now following
- 27:57Speaker 1: a three two shootout loss to Vancouver.
- 28:00Speaker 6: How did you.
- 28:00Speaker 1: Feel about the Crack end the way they played it
- 28:02Speaker 1: close at the of the year.
- 28:04Speaker 21: Yeah, I thought we I thought we played very well,
- 28:07Speaker 21: you know, in the last few games, and certainly the
- 28:09Speaker 21: Vancouver game. You know, it's funny how it goes. The
- 28:13Speaker 21: games you maybe should win you don't, and the games
- 28:16Speaker 21: you shouldn't, you do, you know, I thought that was
- 28:20Speaker 21: definitely a game we should have won.
- 28:21Speaker 1: We know you've said this multiple times the last couple
- 28:24Speaker 1: of weeks that the team has played better in some
- 28:27Speaker 1: of their losses as opposed to maybe some of their wins.
- 28:30Speaker 1: When you look at a game like Vancouver, did you
- 28:32Speaker 1: feel that there was some meat left on the bone
- 28:33Speaker 1: or were you overall satisfied with how the team.
- 28:36Speaker 21: Played, very satisfied with how the team played, you know.
- 28:40Speaker 21: I mean, you can look back on two or three
- 28:43Speaker 21: different situations, but we had the majority of the scoring chances.
- 28:49Speaker 2: You know.
- 28:49Speaker 21: We certainly had opportunity in overtime on the power play,
- 28:54Speaker 21: which we you know, didn't capitalize on. So maybe from
- 28:57Speaker 21: that standpoint, a little meat left on the bone. But
- 29:01Speaker 21: I do honestly believe that it shouldn't even have gotten
- 29:04Speaker 21: too overtime, and you know it did. And or a
- 29:09Speaker 21: shootout record is not good enough. We've got to be
- 29:12Speaker 21: better in that situation, you know. So we're definitely going
- 29:16Speaker 21: to have more shootouts here by the end of the year,
- 29:19Speaker 21: so we've got to make some adjustments and some changes there.
- 29:22Speaker 1: You've worked on the shootout and practice a few times
- 29:25Speaker 1: the last couple of weeks. Is that something that you
- 29:28Speaker 1: can practice? I mean, each guy's got their individual moves.
- 29:32Speaker 1: You can't practice against other goalies other than your own.
- 29:35Speaker 1: How do you prepare and plan for a shootout?
- 29:38Speaker 21: Well, there's a goalie scout put out for our guys
- 29:41Speaker 21: to understand what exactly, you know, maybe the weakness of
- 29:45Speaker 21: the oppositetion goal tiger is.
- 29:48Speaker 6: You know, if you get.
- 29:48Speaker 21: Into that shootout situation and you can practice it, and
- 29:53Speaker 21: we do practice it, but I use this analogy. I
- 29:57Speaker 21: can stand there and make fifteen three foot putts and
- 30:00Speaker 21: row on the practice screen and then I've brought a
- 30:02Speaker 21: three foot or to you know, take twenty bucks off
- 30:05Speaker 21: my buddy. And it's a little bit different than that. So,
- 30:09Speaker 21: you know, finding guys that relish that.
