- 2:09Dayna Roselli: Dana Roselli here along with Sean McAllister.
- 2:12Dayna Roselli: It's our first December podcast.
- 2:15Sean McAllister: It is, and already we were just mentioning this before we started recording that Christmas is so close.
- 2:22Sean McAllister: And like those deadlines to get packages and cards in the mail is coming quick.
- 2:29Sean McAllister: It is.
- 2:29Sean McAllister: We were looking, it's like, what?
- 2:31Dayna Roselli: We've got like two weeks.
- 2:32Sean McAllister: It's like it was just Halloween.
- 2:33Sean McAllister: Like, where the hell did Christmas come from?
- 2:35Dayna Roselli: I know.
- 2:36Dayna Roselli: It's crazy.
- 2:37Dayna Roselli: Plus, so many of the holiday events started early this year.
- 2:39Dayna Roselli: So it almost feels like, oh, it's December.
- 2:41Dayna Roselli: Everything's gonna kick up for the holidays.
- 2:43Dayna Roselli: But it's like kind of like, well, no, it already did.
- 2:45Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 2:45Sean McAllister: And I guess it Thanksgiving was just happening too.
- 2:49Sean McAllister: Right.
- 2:49Sean McAllister: So it feels like it was just Halloween, though.
- 2:52Sean McAllister: Anyway, it's coming quick, the end of the year.
- 2:55Dayna Roselli: For sure.
- 2:55Dayna Roselli: And you know, I've been on this workout kick lately.
- 2:58Dayna Roselli: And um, I have to tell you guys about this experience I had.
- 3:01Dayna Roselli: Um, I work out at a place called Hotworks, but uh my friend JJ Snyder that works over at KTNV's morning blend.
- 3:08Dayna Roselli: Sometimes I fill in on that show.
- 3:09Dayna Roselli: She said, Hey, want to come to this class at Orange Theory tonight?
- 3:12Dayna Roselli: And I was like, Well, that's not really my thing, the circuit circuit classes and stuff.
- 3:16Dayna Roselli: But um, she's like, Well, there's gonna be a surprise.
- 3:19Dayna Roselli: So I go to this class, I'm like, okay, I'm game because I'm in the workout mood lately.
- 3:23Dayna Roselli: Sure.
- 3:23Dayna Roselli: Um, and Steve Aoki showed up and worked out with us.
- 3:27Sean McAllister: Like the world famous DJ and producer Steve Aoki.
- 3:31Dayna Roselli: Yes.
- 3:32Dayna Roselli: So apparently he's the chief music officer of Orange Theory.
- 3:37Dayna Roselli: I think, yeah, they announced it like last March.
- 3:39Dayna Roselli: And so they like use his playlist and stuff like that.
- 3:43Dayna Roselli: So he showed up and the whole class didn't know he was coming.
- 3:46Dayna Roselli: So it was kind of fun to see the reaction.
- 3:48Dayna Roselli: I may have or may or may not have known.
- 3:51Dayna Roselli: Um, but he was committed, Sean.
- 3:54Dayna Roselli: He was so much fun.
- 3:56Dayna Roselli: I mean, we do these circuits.
- 3:57Dayna Roselli: I did 20 minutes on this treadmill running, which I've actually never done.
- 4:01Dayna Roselli: Really?
- 4:01Dayna Roselli: Like on a treadmill.
- 4:02Dayna Roselli: No, because I'm not like a big runner or I don't know, I've just never used a treadmill to go on a walk.
- 4:08Dayna Roselli: I would just go outside and walk.
- 4:09Sean McAllister: Sure.
- 4:10Sean McAllister: Okay.
- 4:10Dayna Roselli: I usually do the elliptical if I'm gonna do anything.
- 4:12Dayna Roselli: So anyway, my calves are killing me.
- 4:15Dayna Roselli: I was stretching, you caught me earlier.
- 4:16Sean McAllister: Is that why you were doing all those yoga stretches in here?
- 4:19Dayna Roselli: Yes.
- 4:20Dayna Roselli: But um, listen, Steve Aoki was what it was me, JJ, and our friend Stacey Galani, and Steve Aoki, all four like in a row, just doing the treadmill.
- 4:30Sean McAllister: So was this a big class, like in a big workout room, or was it pretty intimate?
- 4:34Dayna Roselli: No, well, it was like intimate, but there was uh so there's different circuits.
- 4:38Dayna Roselli: We are we're on the treadmill while everyone else is rowing.
- 4:41Dayna Roselli: Oh and then over in the corner, they're doing like burpees and weights and sit-ups and all that kind of thing.
- 4:47Dayna Roselli: And then every like 15 minutes you switch.
- 4:49Dayna Roselli: Okay.
- 4:50Dayna Roselli: So then we go.
- 4:50Dayna Roselli: So then we moved, and like, yeah, Steve was committed.
- 4:53Dayna Roselli: He was doing the the heavy ball that you like do jumping jacks with, you know, rowing, and and we were next to him, but I was I was laughing because at the end, I was like, man, he could move because you do these like things on the bench where you do like kind of sit-ups and then like kind of like planking and do all this stuff.
- 5:09Dayna Roselli: He was like whipping all around, but he was committed all the way to the end.
- 5:12Dayna Roselli: He did not stop, he was fully in.
- 5:16Dayna Roselli: So it was so much fun to kind of like work out right near him for an hour and listening to some of his playlists that he curated and put it together.
- 5:24Sean McAllister: And now when you go and see Steve Aoki in concert, or if you look up his videos online, he usually throws cake at the audience when he's done with his set or in the middle of his set.
- 5:37Sean McAllister: Did he did he bring any cake with him?
- 5:39Dayna Roselli: Well, he did.
- 5:40Dayna Roselli: And I was like, I didn't know that whole little thing.
- 5:42Dayna Roselli: So at the end, they presented a cake to him and he kind of like stood up on the front counter after the class, like, good job, everyone, kind of deal.
- 5:50SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 5:50Dayna Roselli: And then he threw the cake at one of the staff members right in the face.
- 5:54Dayna Roselli: Oh my god.
- 5:55Dayna Roselli: Yes.
- 5:56Dayna Roselli: But I I have video, but I didn't realize he was gonna throw it.
- 5:59Dayna Roselli: So I like missed that part, but it was crazy.
- 6:02Dayna Roselli: And so apparently, like you said, he does this.
- 6:04Dayna Roselli: This is his so funny.
- 6:06Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 6:06Dayna Roselli: So he threw cake right at her, she had it all over her, and it was a lot of fun.
- 6:12Dayna Roselli: But um, yeah, a fun fact that I learned Steve Aoki is the chief music officer at Orange Theory.
- 6:18Sean McAllister: Nice.
- 6:18Sean McAllister: So go to a workout class in Las Vegas, and you could have a celebrity right next to you is the moral of that story.
- 6:25Dayna Roselli: You could.
- 6:25Dayna Roselli: And we were down at the one in Henderson on Eastern.
- 6:28Dayna Roselli: So uh that was really fun to see him and work out.
- 6:32Dayna Roselli: Um, hey, something that we did recently, I had asked you, I I was saying, like, I've never been to the Tournament of Kings at the Excalibur.
- 6:39Dayna Roselli: And you were like, Oh, I I've been there, you know, once before, but they had their holiday show and we got invited to go check it out.
- 6:45Dayna Roselli: And I was like, should we go?
- 6:46Dayna Roselli: And you were like, Yeah, it's really, really fun.
- 6:48Dayna Roselli: So we did it.
- 6:50Sean McAllister: We did.
- 6:50Sean McAllister: So uh and this is another one of those activities in Las Vegas that'll get you in the holiday spirit.
- 6:56Sean McAllister: There's you know, holiday music mixed in, there's the storyline of the show is uh switched up a little bit to be in the holiday spirit.
- 7:07Sean McAllister: But if you don't know, Tournament of Kings is a long-running show over at Xcaliber.
- 7:13Sean McAllister: It's about like King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table and battling these knights battling evil.
- 7:20Sean McAllister: And there are, I mean, it's a whole equestrian ring with dinner around, you know, dinner seating around the outside of it, and there's beautiful horses, and the knights are riding around and like real sword fights and jousting and singing, dancing.
- 7:40Sean McAllister: It really is a fun and unique experience.
- 7:44Dayna Roselli: I mean, yeah, I've lived here a long time, more than 15 years, and I had never even been to the Tournament of Kings arena, and I'm such like a Vegas lover, and I've done so much, I was like ashamed of myself.
- 7:55Dayna Roselli: But I didn't even realize like you go downstairs, and there's this whole arena, and like you said, seating area, and I was like, wow, this is amazing, and like a whole ring with like a dirt floor, and I mean it was it was really cool.
- 8:09Dayna Roselli: Um, and then we got to eat with our hands, which was fun.
- 8:12Dayna Roselli: We got dinner, like full-on dinner, and like it faces you're sitting kind of in a row, and you get to eat while you watch the show.
- 8:20Dayna Roselli: We had chicken and potatoes and corn and uh and a roll, and then we got I had a Diet Coke.
- 8:27Dayna Roselli: Uh you could order alcohol if you wanted to, and then we got a cute Christmas cookie as dessert.
- 8:32Sean McAllister: That was a good sugar cookie.
- 8:33Dayna Roselli: It was.
- 8:34Dayna Roselli: That was good.
- 8:35Dayna Roselli: I really enjoyed that.
- 8:36Dayna Roselli: Um, and it's called Twas the Night, like K-N-I-G-H-T for the holiday season.
- 8:43Dayna Roselli: Um and like I said, we had a blast.
- 8:46Dayna Roselli: You get to put a crown on.
- 8:48Dayna Roselli: A bunch of people wrote questions to us on Twitter and direct messages, and I was gonna try and answer a few of them.
- 8:54Sean McAllister: Okay, yeah.
- 8:55Sean McAllister: Let's hear from let's hear what people had to say.
- 8:57Dayna Roselli: Well, um, first of all, when you said it's a long-running show, it's the longest running dinner show, too.
- 9:02Dayna Roselli: Apparently, 30 years it's been on the strip.
- 9:04Sean McAllister: Has it been that long?
- 9:05Sean McAllister: 30 years.
- 9:06Dayna Roselli: We were talking to one of the ushers on the way out, and she said, Yeah, it's I think she said it was the longest running show on the strip, but then people and then I was looking at the press release and it says dinner show.
- 9:16Dayna Roselli: I think there have been some that have run 30 years, but maybe they're not running right now.
- 9:20Sean McAllister: Right.
- 9:20Dayna Roselli: So I'm not really sure the exact statistic of that, but it's definitely up there.
- 9:24Dayna Roselli: Regardless, 30 years is incredible, right?
- 9:26Sean McAllister: It's a good run.
- 9:27Dayna Roselli: It is, but a lot of people, this was a funny uh oh.
- 9:30Dayna Roselli: I had someone write me and say, Oh my gosh, I saw that show years ago, and she said, I'll never forget the first time I went, my night one, and then I was so happy, and then I saw him hours later at Blue Martini, and somehow the magic was lost, and she's hysterical.
- 9:44Dayna Roselli: She then she posted a picture with him and she says, Look, I have the evidence.
- 9:49Sean McAllister: That's hilarious.
- 9:50Dayna Roselli: And everyone's chiming in with that's an only Vegas moment, right?
- 9:53Sean McAllister: It is, and by the way, if you don't know Blue Martini, it's a a bar where uh like you go to find a mate.
- 10:01Dayna Roselli: Exactly.
- 10:03Dayna Roselli: We had a uh comment from Glenn who said it's so much fun, it's corny, but you participate and you can't help but laugh and have a good time.
- 10:09Dayna Roselli: And I thought that was a good point, right?
- 10:11Sean McAllister: That is true.
- 10:12Dayna Roselli: Um, someone else says, Do they have the tomato soup?
- 10:14Dayna Roselli: And I said, Well, we didn't have tomato soup um on our menu, but maybe it changes.
- 10:19Dayna Roselli: And they said, Oh no, the tomato soup was delicious, and then said they used to work there.
- 10:23Dayna Roselli: And they even had the soup over in the employee uh lunch area, the ER.
- 10:29Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 10:30Dayna Roselli: Um and then someone else wrote and said, Um, I opened the Excalibur and the food and beverage department.
- 10:36Dayna Roselli: The show and experience has hardly changed in 32 plus years.
- 10:40Dayna Roselli: Gotta be one of the longest runners in Vegas history.
- 10:42Dayna Roselli: Love it.
- 10:43Dayna Roselli: And then a couple people chimed in and said, I haven't seen it either.
- 10:46Dayna Roselli: I'm a bad local.
- 10:48Dayna Roselli: Uh I keep meaning to go.
- 10:50Dayna Roselli: I need to get there.
- 10:50Dayna Roselli: I need to get there.
- 10:52Sean McAllister: It's definitely worth going to see, especially if you have family in town or friends in town.
- 10:59Sean McAllister: To get dinner and a show is a pretty good thing.
- 11:05Sean McAllister: And I mean, that is a good value for what you're getting.
- 11:09Dayna Roselli: Well, and that's what someone else wrote and said, um, is that show at the Excalibur a full meal or just Ordura?
- 11:15Dayna Roselli: So then I explained, I sent him a little video of what comes, like I said, the chicken.
- 11:18Dayna Roselli: We had corn, we had a roll, we had two potatoes.
- 11:20Dayna Roselli: I mean, it was a meal.
- 11:22Dayna Roselli: Um, so we got that.
- 11:23Dayna Roselli: And then someone else asked, Is it too old for my kids?
- 11:26Dayna Roselli: As in, like, will they understand what's going on?
- 11:28Dayna Roselli: And I was like, I mean, they may not understand like every little specific, but they're gonna love it.
- 11:32Dayna Roselli: You're you get a crown to where you're cheering on your your um country or you're the dr in the dragon slayer section.
- 11:41Dayna Roselli: Um, it's fun, they'll pretty much understand everything.
- 11:44Dayna Roselli: It's definitely perfect for kids.
- 11:47Sean McAllister: Right.
- 11:47Sean McAllister: And tickets do start at just about$42,$41.87.
- 11:54Sean McAllister: And that's for dinner and the show.
- 11:58Sean McAllister: Wow, that's great.
- 11:58Sean McAllister: That's a great ticket price.
- 12:00Dayna Roselli: A great, yeah, it really is.
- 12:02Dayna Roselli: It's so and it's was like a almost an hour and a half.
- 12:06Sean McAllister: So it's a good full production.
- 12:08Dayna Roselli: And the wait staff was great.
- 12:10Dayna Roselli: They were like great at serving you quick, getting what you needed, all that.
- 12:14Dayna Roselli: And then also, as you enter and you exit, there's an arcade down there, too, that's got some fun games that you mostly see at like county fairs and stuff, like the horse racing.
- 12:24Sean McAllister: I know it brought you back to your to your days of winning a bunny.
- 12:28Dayna Roselli: It did.
- 12:28Dayna Roselli: I won a rabbit once at an Italian festival.
- 12:31Dayna Roselli: And I got the ball in the cup in the middle.
- 12:33Dayna Roselli: My parents wanted to kill me.
- 12:35Dayna Roselli: Um, but yeah, the Great arcade down there as well.
- 12:38Dayna Roselli: And we were talking to the Usher on the way out as well, and we asked, Do the horses stay there?
- 12:43Dayna Roselli: And she said, No, they go and leave every single night.
- 12:47Dayna Roselli: They're better take.
- 12:48Dayna Roselli: She said they're more well taken care of than the actual performers in the show.
- 12:52Dayna Roselli: Don't worry.
- 12:53Sean McAllister: I believe it.
- 12:54Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 12:54Dayna Roselli: So um, we wanted to point that out as well.
- 12:56Sean McAllister: But those horses were beautiful.
- 12:58Dayna Roselli: Yeah, they really were.
- 12:59Dayna Roselli: It was fun.
- 13:00Dayna Roselli: I it's a great, it's something different.
- 13:01Sean McAllister: Yep.
- 13:02Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 13:02Sean McAllister: And so as Dana mentioned, uh, Tournament of Kings Twas the Night is running now uh through the holiday season.
- 13:10Sean McAllister: And then outside of the holiday season, you see the regular medieval themed uh Tournament of Kings production.
- 13:19Dayna Roselli: All right, well, moving on to uh, well, some bad news for oyster lovers.
- 13:25Sean McAllister: I mean uh we saw this pop up and and figured we needed to talk about it because there is a Las Vegas tie.
- 13:32Sean McAllister: Uh the Food and Drug Administration just sent out a warning about uh these oysters that have uh made people sick.
- 13:42Sean McAllister: There's uh a restaurant here in Las Vegas that was not named in the report, but apparently two clusters of people uh were made sick by eating raw oysters at uh this restaurant.
- 13:59Sean McAllister: Um the oysters came from, they were harvested in South Korea, they say, uh in February and then distributed here in Las Vegas in Nevada, um, but also in 12 other states.
- 14:15Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 14:16Sean McAllister: So this seems like it's a w it could be a widespread uh outbreak, whatever's in these uh little oyster shells.
- 14:24Dayna Roselli: Yeah, and I was like, can't we go like closer than South Korea for our oysters?
- 14:28Sean McAllister: Or but I mean I feel like we have a a pretty good selection of domestic uh oysters.
- 14:34Dayna Roselli: I would think so.
- 14:35Sean McAllister: Doesn't Washington State have some really good oysters?
- 14:38Sean McAllister: And there's other locations.
- 14:40Sean McAllister: Baltimore, I think, has has good oysters.
- 14:42Dayna Roselli: Yeah, I mean, probably.
- 14:44Dayna Roselli: So maybe we need to to keep it here.
- 14:46Dayna Roselli: I don't know.
- 14:47Sean McAllister: I think it is good to point out that uh uh the restaurant here in Las Vegas is not uh necessarily to blame for definitely having these oysters.
- 14:57Sean McAllister: They were, you know, using whatever supplier they use, but it's uh the the mollusks that were harvested in South Korea.
- 15:06Sean McAllister: Um, you know, the company that really brought those in is connected with this outbreak.
- 15:12Sean McAllister: It just is unfortunate that it happened at a Las Vegas restaurant.
- 15:15Dayna Roselli: That's true.
- 15:15Dayna Roselli: And we have some great oyster bars in town too.
- 15:17Dayna Roselli: And I know uh whenever I go with my friend at Monomiga B, he always loves to get the oysters and says they're the delicious.
- 15:24Sean McAllister: Yeah, I really do like oysters.
- 15:26Sean McAllister: I don't have them a lot.
- 15:27Sean McAllister: No, but getting a seafood tower and just I could have an entire dinner just off a seafood tower.
- 15:32Dayna Roselli: Well, didn't we didn't we just eat oysters at Scotch 80?
- 15:35Dayna Roselli: We did.
- 15:36Dayna Roselli: I think we did, yeah.
- 15:37Sean McAllister: But they were uh cooked.
- 15:39Sean McAllister: Oh, remember they had the fire?
- 15:40Dayna Roselli: Oh, that's right.
- 15:41Dayna Roselli: Yeah, because we got the hot seafood tower.
- 15:44Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 15:44Dayna Roselli: All right, got it.
- 15:46Dayna Roselli: All right, well, we wanted to let everyone know about that.
- 15:48Dayna Roselli: Um, some good news though, is a new opening.
- 15:52Dayna Roselli: Imagine that we have something new opening.
- 15:55Dayna Roselli: It's crazy to me how much we have opening.
- 15:57Dayna Roselli: But um, an international brewery called Brew Dog is uh, well, officially open because this podcast um drops on a Saturday and it opened Friday.
- 16:08Dayna Roselli: And we talked about this in the past, but it has been a while.
- 16:11Dayna Roselli: So all of a sudden, just time flew by, and then we're like, wait, that's opening.
- 16:14Dayna Roselli: We talked about that like two years ago, and it's called Brew Dog.
- 16:18Dayna Roselli: It's a rooftop bar, and it's right near like the uh the showcase mall, which we've talked about before.
- 16:26Dayna Roselli: It's right on Las Vegas Boulevard, and it's gonna give you 360-degree views of the strip, which makes it really cool.
- 16:34Dayna Roselli: They have a menu of like Vegas exclusive bites, they have 96 taps there featuring brewdog brews, some local favorites, and some non-alcoholic options too.
- 16:45Dayna Roselli: They have a retro arcade and more.
- 16:48Dayna Roselli: And get this um, its big feature is a 30,000 square foot rooftop bar with the views of the strip, but 30,000 square feet.
- 17:00Dayna Roselli: Isn't that crazy?
- 17:01Sean McAllister: That's insane.
- 17:02Dayna Roselli: I know.
- 17:03Dayna Roselli: So we have actually already gone, but um, we record this a day before the day before we're actually going.
- 17:10Dayna Roselli: So we're gonna talk all about it next week.
- 17:12Sean McAllister: Next week, yeah.
- 17:13Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 17:14Sean McAllister: But I I have a feeling that that is going to be a new hot spot on Las Vegas Boulevard.
- 17:20Sean McAllister: With those views, you can't beat them.
- 17:22Sean McAllister: And yeah, this is a I believe the second and third floor of the showcase mall area, which is directly across the street from Park MGM, uh kind of next door to the Hard Rock Cafe.
- 17:36Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 17:36Sean McAllister: Uh so if you're familiar with that, you know where this is, just look up for the big brew dog sign.
- 17:43Dayna Roselli: You and I often talk about how there are not enough patio bars and restaurants in Las Vegas because we do have such cool views.
- 17:51Dayna Roselli: So I'm glad to see this is going to be popular.
- 17:54Sean McAllister: It is.
- 17:55Sean McAllister: And in the summertime, I'm sure they have shade and misters up there.
- 17:58Sean McAllister: So it'll help you stay cool as you sip on a chili beer.
- 18:02Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 18:04Sean McAllister: Love it.
- 18:05Dayna Roselli: All right.
- 18:06Dayna Roselli: And we talked about like how things have been going up lately price-wise.
- 18:09Dayna Roselli: We've had a bunch of people write us and say, Hey, it's getting expensive over there in Vegas.
- 18:14Dayna Roselli: And then I was mentioning that I was going to London, and a lot of people on my plane were saying we had a great time, but it's was pretty pricey.
- 18:21Dayna Roselli: Um, so something that you found, actually, an article, um, basically breaks that down and says, Yeah, um, basically they they weren't wrong.
- 18:31Sean McAllister: No, room rates have reached a record high on the Las Vegas Strip.
- 18:36Sean McAllister: The average daily room rate for the month of October is now nearly$210 per night.
- 18:46SPEAKER_01: Wow.
- 18:46Sean McAllister: That's a lot.
- 18:47Sean McAllister: It is.
- 18:48Sean McAllister: It's a m as a matter of fact, it's more than uh 20% from September's average room rate.
- 18:58Dayna Roselli: Yeah, that was 173.
- 19:00Dayna Roselli: So that's a huge jump in a month, right?
- 19:02SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 19:03Dayna Roselli: Um, but then it also talks about okay, so let's go back.
- 19:06Dayna Roselli: Let's go October 2019, you know, before the pandemic and all that.
- 19:10Dayna Roselli: And it says October's average daily room rate is uh more than 55% higher than it was in October of 2019.
- 19:20Dayna Roselli: Jeez.
- 19:20Dayna Roselli: So that's a big jump.
- 19:22Sean McAllister: It sure is.
- 19:23Dayna Roselli: Um visitor numbers, though, are up, um, jumped about 7% from 2021 to 2022.
- 19:29Dayna Roselli: So we have a lot more people uh visiting us.
- 19:32Dayna Roselli: So we like that.
- 19:33Dayna Roselli: And then we've got obviously tons of stuff coming into town in the next year, but they're also contributing the recent visitor jump because we had the When We Were Young music festival, we had two Raider Home Games, we had NASCAR, you know, the South Point 400 that you and I went to.
- 19:49Dayna Roselli: And so there's a lot there of why we had so many people in town.
- 19:52Dayna Roselli: Right now we've got the National Finals rodeo in town.
- 19:54Sean McAllister: Which there are cowboys everywhere.
- 19:57Dayna Roselli: Everywhere.
- 19:58Sean McAllister: You cannot toss a pebble without seeing cowboy boots and cowboy hats.
- 20:04Dayna Roselli: Which is a great segue right into our lineup of country music headliners that have either announced extensions, well, they've all announced extensions, actually.
- 20:15Dayna Roselli: Because and one of them, Carrie Underwood, who she she stopped doing shows over at Resorts World to go on tour, but just announced that she is actually coming back to Resorts World Theater.
- 20:24Dayna Roselli: I was excited to hear that.
- 20:25Sean McAllister: Yeah, so uh Carrie Underwood's Reflection residency is going to resume uh with 18 new shows in 2023.
- 20:35Sean McAllister: They start uh on June 21st, and then she'll have shows uh spread throughout the rest of the year until December 9th.
- 20:44Sean McAllister: So I mean, she just was selling out shows and uh fantastic.
- 20:52Dayna Roselli: You saw it and you loved it, right?
- 20:54Sean McAllister: Loved it.
- 20:55Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 20:55Dayna Roselli: I remember that you went to that.
- 20:57Sean McAllister: Yeah, Carrie's great.
- 20:58Dayna Roselli: And we just saw her perform on the American Music Awards, too.
- 21:01Sean McAllister: Right, and she was flying around in the sky uh yeah, a little acrobat ring.
- 21:06Sean McAllister: I wonder if she's gonna do any flying, if she'll add any flying to her uh residency now.
- 21:12Dayna Roselli: And possibly, possibly.
- 21:13Dayna Roselli: I think when I was reading the release, they were saying like that show's created just for you know the resort's world theater.
- 21:19Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 21:19Dayna Roselli: And she doesn't do the any well, a lot of the stuff that she does there doesn't mean she's gonna do that on tour.
- 21:24Dayna Roselli: It's like exclusive to that actual residency show.
- 21:28Dayna Roselli: So um we call this Garth Brooks extending his newly announced Caesars Palace residency.
- 21:33Dayna Roselli: We said already he's gonna announce more shows, I'm sure.
- 21:36Dayna Roselli: And boom, before he's even started, he's adding shows through 2024.
- 21:41Sean McAllister: Yeah, and it it the nugget that we did uh find from this piece of information when Garth announced that he was going to do shows starting in 2023.
- 21:53Sean McAllister: It just said starting in 2023, and now it looks like May is going to be.
- 22:00Sean McAllister: General go date for uh Garth Brooks at the Coliseum at Caesars Palace.
- 22:05Sean McAllister: Right.
- 22:06Dayna Roselli: And I guess uh he hasn't announced the dates for the 2024 run yet, but I see a lot of people on Facebook going for these tickets and saying, I got a Garth ticket, or I gotta because he's doing the verified link.
- 22:19Dayna Roselli: You know, people were saying that they got the link.
- 22:21Sean McAllister: Right.
- 22:21Dayna Roselli: I'm in and this and that.
- 22:23Dayna Roselli: So I'm glad to see that that's going well.
- 22:25Dayna Roselli: So Garth Brooks Plus one.
- 22:27Dayna Roselli: And remember, we told you in a previous podcast that means he says he's doing kind of changing it up every show.
- 22:33Dayna Roselli: He might have a surprise guest come up on stage with him.
- 22:37Dayna Roselli: The band is gonna change, they might walk out into the audience.
- 22:41Dayna Roselli: So you can expect a different experience every time you go.
- 22:44Sean McAllister: And we uh expect to find out the new dates for 2024 uh once he kicks off his first set of shows uh coming up in May.
- 22:55Sean McAllister: Another country star who's sticking around for a little bit more.
- 22:59Sean McAllister: We actually have known this for a long time since she started, Miranda Lambert.
- 23:06Sean McAllister: Um, I think we even mentioned back after we went to the debut of her Velvet Rodeo residency over at Planet Hollywood that she had said at an after party she was gonna be sticking around for a couple years.
- 23:19Dayna Roselli: Yeah, she did, and actually I think she mentioned at the end of the show because remember the actual show on stage, and we were like, I don't know if she was supposed to say that.
- 23:27Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 23:28Sean McAllister: We said, wait a second, is that news?
- 23:30Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 23:31Dayna Roselli: Then we went to the after party and it was kind of like affirm.
- 23:34Dayna Roselli: But so I mean, I think maybe they weren't supposed to say that, but um, her plan in her mind was to be around for two more years, and now they have announced that that that's official.
- 23:45Dayna Roselli: Um, so she's gonna be doing uh an additional 16 performances tacked onto what she already has planned.
- 23:54Dayna Roselli: So she's added these 2023 dates to her residency called Velvet Rodeo.
- 23:59Dayna Roselli: It's over at Planet Hollywood at Zappos Theater.
- 24:02Dayna Roselli: Um, then the new shows will be in July and December.
- 24:05Dayna Roselli: So those are the dates that she's added on um to her already planned performances.
- 24:11Dayna Roselli: But we saw it.
- 24:11Dayna Roselli: It was a great show.
- 24:12Dayna Roselli: If you love Miranda, it's very raw.
- 24:15Dayna Roselli: She brings it, and the crowd just really seemed to have a great time that really knew her music well, too.
- 24:21Sean McAllister: Yeah, it was a really fun time.
- 24:23Sean McAllister: So glad that Miranda is sticking around.
- 24:26Sean McAllister: Um, a piece of uh Las Vegas entertainment, at least as far as the strip is concerned, that kind of had a heyday and then phased out a little bit was Broadway shows being on the Las Vegas strip.
- 24:40Sean McAllister: At one time we had Mamma Mia, we had Lion King, we had uh Avenue Q, we had Hairspray.
- 24:49Sean McAllister: Um and these were all like resident shows, Jersey boys.
- 24:52Sean McAllister: That's right.
- 24:52Dayna Roselli: What's the other one?
- 24:53Dayna Roselli: Um that Mark Chinook was in.
- 24:56Dayna Roselli: Uh our friend Mark was still there.
- 24:58Sean McAllister: It was Rock of Ages.
- 24:59Dayna Roselli: Rock of Ages, yeah, that was there too, at the Venetian for a long time.
- 25:02Sean McAllister: At the Venetian.
- 25:03Sean McAllister: And speaking of the Venetian, they are now welcoming back another Broadway show, Six the Musical, which uh uh a month or so ago we talked about it was touring at the Smith Center here in Las Vegas.
- 25:19Sean McAllister: But now uh the show is going to be sitting down for a seven-week run over at the Venetian, over at the Palazzo Theater.
- 25:28Sean McAllister: Uh, they're going to be doing eight shows a week.
- 25:32Sean McAllister: And uh it's I it's such a fun show.
- 25:36Sean McAllister: It's more of a rock pop concert than it is uh a traditional musical, right?
- 25:44Sean McAllister: If that makes any sense.
- 25:45Dayna Roselli: Yes.
- 25:46Dayna Roselli: Well, you saw it on Broadway and then you saw it twice at the Smith Center, didn't you?
- 25:49Sean McAllister: I did, yeah.
- 25:50Dayna Roselli: Which to me shows right there.
- 25:52Dayna Roselli: It's like if you're gonna go back that many times, it has to be good.
- 25:55Dayna Roselli: And we always say a Vegas show should be something where once you leave, you're like, I would go back and see that again.
- 26:01Sean McAllister: Totally.
- 26:01Sean McAllister: And the music is it it's catchy, it's fun.
- 26:05Sean McAllister: I have the soundtrack that plays in my car when I hop in and plug in my phone.
- 26:11Sean McAllister: Um, but if you don't know, Six of the Musical is based on the six X-wives of Henry the Eighth.
- 26:18Sean McAllister: So they're all kind of reinvented into variations of uh different pop stars.
- 26:25Sean McAllister: There's different pop stars who you can tell influence each of the different characters, um, but they kind of tell their own stories through pop and rock music.
- 26:35Sean McAllister: And they're battling out to see who is the ultimate ex-wife.
- 26:42Sean McAllister: That's kind of the plot line of the show.
- 26:45Sean McAllister: Okay.
- 26:45Sean McAllister: Um, but you don't really need the plot line.
- 26:48Sean McAllister: Be familiar with the music, get ready to go and have a great time.
- 26:52Sean McAllister: It feels like you're at a concert.
- 26:54Dayna Roselli: Yeah, that should be good.
- 26:55Dayna Roselli: Okay, so it's at the Palazzo Theater inside the Venetian.
- 26:58Dayna Roselli: That's a great theater, too.
- 26:59Dayna Roselli: It's beautiful.
- 26:59Dayna Roselli: Oh, that's gonna be good.
- 27:01Dayna Roselli: All right, and it starts what March 21st of 2023.
- 27:05Sean McAllister: Yep.
- 27:05Dayna Roselli: Uh so welcome.
- 27:06Dayna Roselli: That'll be great.
- 27:08Sean McAllister: And Dana, uh, before we get to tips, I want to bring up Boy George because you had mentioned that our friend Stacy Galandi had produced the behind the music of Boy George.
- 27:22Sean McAllister: And you actually just went over to Stacy's house to screen the episode.
- 27:27Sean McAllister: Yeah, it was the first time.
- 27:28Dayna Roselli: Fun.
- 27:28Dayna Roselli: A group of us went over there to see it.
- 27:30Dayna Roselli: Uh, she had kind of held off even watching it in full until we all gathered with her uh for 24 hours.
- 27:36Dayna Roselli: But we streamed it, we watched it.
- 27:37Dayna Roselli: It was so interesting.
- 27:39Dayna Roselli: It's about 50 minutes, it was really good.
- 27:41Dayna Roselli: Um, but you know, she did the interview over at Thriller Mansion, is what it's called.
- 27:47Dayna Roselli: And it's where Michael Jackson lived at uh when he lived in Las Vegas, a part of the time that he lived here anyway.
- 27:55Dayna Roselli: And um, they now, I guess, house some liberacci items there.
- 28:00Dayna Roselli: I don't know the full story.
- 28:01Dayna Roselli: I think you know more maybe about that.
- 28:03Sean McAllister: I think I think on my my YouTube channel I have a whole feature story kind of going through.
- 28:10Sean McAllister: Maybe I'll I'll tweet that out or something.
- 28:13SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 28:13Sean McAllister: Um, but there's an entire, I mean, there's essentially a liberace museum that is housed inside of the thriller villa, which i is a beautiful property, but it's fitting that that's where boy George wanted to sit down and do his interview and talk about even the influences on his own music career.
- 28:36Dayna Roselli: Well, so Stacy was saying, yes, Boy George all the it's is was really taken by Liberace.
- 28:42Dayna Roselli: So he was so excited to go in and do his interview at this site because he was just, you know, and you'll see in the piece when he walks in and sees the outfits and the different memorabilia from Liberaci, he is it's almost like he's starstruck.
- 28:59Sean McAllister: Oh, I bet.
- 28:59Sean McAllister: Yeah, I mean, it's iconic stuff.
- 29:02Dayna Roselli: He said it was such an influence, like you mentioned.
- 29:04Dayna Roselli: Um, and then we went on his social media right before we were gonna start the podcast and realized that he just dropped a song called How to Be a Chandelier, and it's his tribute to the great liberace, he said.
- 29:15Dayna Roselli: Um, and listen why he did this, why he wrote this song.
- 29:18SPEAKER_00: How to be a chandelier is my tribute to the great liberace who was someone I talked about a lot when I was starting out, you know, because growing up I used to see liberacci and see how fun point he was.
- 29:30SPEAKER_00: And I was just always impressed by his uh extravagance and also as a musician as well.
- 29:37SPEAKER_00: I wonder what in Vegas 30 this year and trying to visit the Frank Cena Fuchsia team in San Bedrock's Junior all the kind of great rap fact guys, but nothing of Liberace was like he watched on the face of Vegas Planet.
- 29:49SPEAKER_00: So I wanted to write a song about him because I think he is an important LGBTQI plus pioneer.
- 29:56SPEAKER_00: So yeah.
- 29:57SPEAKER_00: How to be a chandelier.
- 29:59SPEAKER_00: I learned that from Liberace.
- 30:01Dayna Roselli: And it's interesting, a good point that we do not see a lot of Liberacci memorabilia photos and all that.
- 30:13Dayna Roselli: Um, you're he he makes a good point.
- 30:16Dayna Roselli: There's a lot of rat pack and not a lot of liberacci.
- 30:19Sean McAllister: It's true, and even Elvis.
- 30:20Sean McAllister: I mean, he didn't start wearing those sequin jumpsuits until he hung out with Liberacci and you know the jumpsuit became a signature Elvis thing.
- 30:34Sean McAllister: You know, Michael Jackson, his you know, mirrored glove was kind of inspired by the flash and glitz of Liberacci.
- 30:43Sean McAllister: Uh Brittany Spears, um, my god, I mean, name an entertainer, and you can find Liberaci's influence on them.
- 30:54Dayna Roselli: It's so true.
- 30:54Dayna Roselli: And we were trying to think and we're like, where I was like, Resorts World has something Liberacci there.
- 31:00Dayna Roselli: I can't remember.
- 31:00Dayna Roselli: I actually got some video of it.
- 31:01Dayna Roselli: I don't know if it was a painting on the wall or something like that.
- 31:02Dayna Roselli: It calls a mural.
- 31:04Dayna Roselli: Or yeah, a mural.
- 31:05Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 31:05Dayna Roselli: And then you were saying there's something like kind of behind the Westgate as you drive down like Joe Brown Drive.
- 31:10Dayna Roselli: Yep.
- 31:11Dayna Roselli: You can see it.
- 31:12Dayna Roselli: But other than that, we don't see a lot of Liberace uh stuff around town anymore.
- 31:16Dayna Roselli: So anyway, Boy George noticed that when he came to do his shows over at the win and said, you know what?
- 31:22Dayna Roselli: Here's my tribute.
- 31:23Dayna Roselli: Um, he's coming back to the win, Boy George and the Culture Club as well.
- 31:27Dayna Roselli: Anyway, it's a really interesting piece.
- 31:29Dayna Roselli: Uh Stacy said, you know, she she loved doing it.
- 31:32Dayna Roselli: She learned so much.
- 31:34Dayna Roselli: Um, it's funny, he talks about at one point how he, I think it was um, I can't remember what song it is that starts really slow.
- 31:40Dayna Roselli: I think it's time.
- 31:41Dayna Roselli: Wait.
- 31:42Dayna Roselli: Do you really wanna hurt?
- 31:44Dayna Roselli: That one.
- 31:45Dayna Roselli: And he was saying, like, it took off.
- 31:46Dayna Roselli: And like to me, it was such a boring song.
- 31:48Dayna Roselli: I was like, it's a little slow and this and that.
- 31:50Dayna Roselli: But it's funny how you get to hear his perspective of what songs took off and what you know, how they became really big off certain things that they wrote or performed and didn't expect it to go as crazy as it did, but then they crossed over to America and and Culture Club.
- 32:07Dayna Roselli: I mean, when you watch this, you're like, it's one hit after the other.
- 32:11Dayna Roselli: He's got tons of hits, boy George.
- 32:14Sean McAllister: That's great.
- 32:14Sean McAllister: So it's gonna be great to have him back here on stage in Las Vegas.
- 32:17Sean McAllister: It will be.
- 32:18Dayna Roselli: Now we'll officially get to our tips.
- 32:20Dayna Roselli: How about that?
- 32:24Sean McAllister: All right.
- 32:25Sean McAllister: Starting off, our tips is something that'll give you a bit of a jolt with the aloha spirit on the side.
- 32:33Sean McAllister: And this is, I mean, anytime we can talk about coffee, it's a good thing.
- 32:38Sean McAllister: Dana, I think you and I are both coffee connoisseurs.
- 32:41Dayna Roselli: We are.
- 32:42Dayna Roselli: And I love a good coffee shop too.
- 32:44Dayna Roselli: And it's interesting because I never used to be one to hop around, but I've been really enjoying it lately as I don't know, I feel like I'm even more of a fan of coffee lately than I was even before.
- 32:54Dayna Roselli: Really?
- 32:54Dayna Roselli: And trying some different things.
- 32:56Dayna Roselli: I don't love super sweet drinks, but I've been trying different kinds of things that aren't sweet.
- 33:01Sean McAllister: Well, probably because for all the years of being a morning news anchor, you had to just like slam your coffee to get the the energy flowing.
- 33:10Dayna Roselli: Yes.
- 33:10Sean McAllister: And you didn't have time just to sit back and sip and enjoy.
- 33:14Dayna Roselli: Good point.
- 33:15Dayna Roselli: There was no time to make it fancy.
- 33:17Sean McAllister: No.
- 33:17Dayna Roselli: It was like you had like a quick commercial break to go fill up.
- 33:20Dayna Roselli: And it was like black with a splash of take that folders straight from the pot.
- 33:25Dayna Roselli: Yeah, plastic creamer from the little, you know, those little you pop the paper top.
- 33:31Dayna Roselli: Anyway, uh, there's a new coffee shop that is uh in Las Vegas.
- 33:35Dayna Roselli: It's gonna be opening on December 5th.
- 33:38Dayna Roselli: And we're super excited about this because it's called Bad Ass Coffee, but it is named after, it's like a nod, basically, to the donkeys who haul coffee beans on Hawaiian coffee farms.
- 33:54Dayna Roselli: Okay.
- 33:55Dayna Roselli: But it's got this whole Hawaiian.
- 33:57Dayna Roselli: I mean, it's like we have such a big population of Hawaiian people that live here.
- 34:02Dayna Roselli: More than 50,000 Hawaiians live here.
- 34:04Dayna Roselli: And I looked it up.
- 34:05Dayna Roselli: One in 10 Hawaiians visit Las Vegas every year.
- 34:09Dayna Roselli: Wow.
- 34:09Dayna Roselli: So we get visitors and residents, and that's why they call us the Ninth Island.
- 34:13Dayna Roselli: So to have a Hawaiian coffee shop in Las Vegas is huge.
- 34:18Sean McAllister: Yeah, so they're gonna be serving up uh Hawaiian brews and some tropical uh inspired food items as well.
- 34:27Sean McAllister: And I'm excited about this.
- 34:28Sean McAllister: So am I.
- 34:29Dayna Roselli: And it's gonna be located on Charleston and Jones.
- 34:32Dayna Roselli: Um, in case you're that area wondering where it's gonna be located.
- 34:36Dayna Roselli: They're gonna be doing a grand opening in the future, and um we'll talk more about it then.
- 34:40Dayna Roselli: But I guess if you download the app, by the way, you get a free cup of coffee.
- 34:44Dayna Roselli: So uh welcome, badass coffee.
- 34:47Dayna Roselli: We are excited to have a Hawaiian-themed coffee shop with the beans right from those Kona beans right here in Las Vegas.
- 34:57Sean McAllister: And I think uh the coffee that is being used, uh some of it's grown on the big island and some of it's grown on uh Kauai.
- 35:08Sean McAllister: So I've I've gone and toured some of the coffee fields of Kauai.
- 35:14Sean McAllister: It's cool.
- 35:15Sean McAllister: And so I I mean it's Hawaii.
- 35:18Sean McAllister: Yeah, it's beautiful.
- 35:19Dayna Roselli: It's everything tastes better in Hawaii.
- 35:21Sean McAllister: The island of Kauai is just it automatically just relaxed me, even thinking about it.
- 35:28Sean McAllister: I love it there.
- 35:29Dayna Roselli: Well, I better do the next tip then.
- 35:31Dayna Roselli: You relax.
- 35:31Dayna Roselli: How about that?
- 35:33Dayna Roselli: Let me bring it up.
- 35:34Dayna Roselli: All right, let's go up to downtown Fremont Hotel and Casino, debuting a new food haul this month.
- 35:40Dayna Roselli: We've even talked about the Fremont Hotel and Casino.
- 35:42Dayna Roselli: I don't even know if ever on this podcast.
- 35:44Dayna Roselli: So I'm glad that we get to get this in, right?
- 35:46Dayna Roselli: Um, so they're opening a new food haul.
- 35:49Dayna Roselli: It's gonna be opening in mid-December, so should be soon here, shortly.
- 35:53Dayna Roselli: They're bringing in six national, regional, and local casual dining brands with um including, I should say, let's see, steak and shake, which is always good.
- 36:04Dayna Roselli: I love steak and shake.
- 36:05Sean McAllister: I haven't heard of Huey McGoose.
- 36:06Sean McAllister: Have you?
- 36:07Sean McAllister: I've seen Huey Magoose.
- 36:09Sean McAllister: I have not been, though.
- 36:11Dayna Roselli: And what's is it Rolly Rotti?
- 36:13Dayna Roselli: I don't know if I'm saying that right.
- 36:15Sean McAllister: Rolly Roti.
- 36:16Dayna Roselli: Rolly Roti.
- 36:18Dayna Roselli: And then Craft Kitchen, which we know when is great.
- 36:21Dayna Roselli: Tomo noodles, and then a Duncan, of course.
- 36:24Dayna Roselli: Um, will all be in there.
- 36:26Dayna Roselli: It's a grand opening scheduled for January 12th.
- 36:30Dayna Roselli: It's gonna be about 13,150 square feet.
- 36:34Dayna Roselli: So it's a big space, and it'll be right there at the Fremont Hotel and Casino.
- 36:38Dayna Roselli: So another dining option, which I think is great.
- 36:41Sean McAllister: It is, and for downtown.
- 36:47Sean McAllister: Uh here in Las Vegas as of late.
- 36:49Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 36:49Sean McAllister: Uh the Uncommons development has a food hall.
- 36:52Sean McAllister: I believe uh the new Durango Casino is supposed to have its own food hall.
- 36:58Sean McAllister: We now have a food hall downtown.
- 37:01Dayna Roselli: Um I think you know, and I think when we say like, well, what makes it different than like a food court?
- 37:06Dayna Roselli: I feel like food courts are like mostly really fast food-y type restaurants.
- 37:12Dayna Roselli: And this food hall concept is a mix of both, which I think is good.
- 37:16Dayna Roselli: Like if you want something a little better, if you want something real cheap, if you're worried about maybe, you know, going a little healthier, there's a good variety.
- 37:24Sean McAllister: And I feel like even Italy on the on the strip over at Park MGM is kind of uh in that food hall vein as well.
- 37:32Sean McAllister: Right.
- 37:33Dayna Roselli: Yeah, definitely.
- 37:34Sean McAllister: So where it feels like a marketplace instead of a food court.
- 37:37Dayna Roselli: Yeah, no, you're right.
- 37:39Dayna Roselli: So anyway, uh new food hall coming to Fremont Hotel, and then badass coffee opening on Charleston near Jones.
- 37:45Dayna Roselli: Those are our tips this week.
- 37:47Dayna Roselli: We always think of things as we sit here and go on and on and on that we need to talk about coming up in the future.
- 37:52Dayna Roselli: But you and I will be doing a bunch of stuff next week, and we are going to have plenty to talk about two brand new things opening at the Venetian.
- 38:00Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 38:00Dayna Roselli: So, and one of them is uh the Flight Club, which we talked about here on the podcast before.
- 38:06Dayna Roselli: In the past, we interviewed, didn't we interview the CEO or the president?
- 38:09Dayna Roselli: I think we did um about the darts kind of concept, restaurant-ish.
- 38:13Dayna Roselli: What would you call it?
- 38:14Sean McAllister: Attraction is a a a social club.
- 38:17Sean McAllister: Social club built around darts.
- 38:20Dayna Roselli: Yep, that's exactly it, Sean.
- 38:22Sean McAllister: So we'll be talking about that in the very near future.
- 38:26Sean McAllister: A big thank you to our sponsor, Vegas Near Me.
- 38:29Sean McAllister: The app is now available for download on your iPhone in the Apple store, but you do need to make sure that you have iOS 16 installed in order to make all the technology that's packed into the Vegas Near Me app run properly.
- 38:46Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 38:46Dayna Roselli: And listen, in episode 147, we're gonna talk about the ugly sweater contest that we're hosting over at Circa.
- 38:54Dayna Roselli: You'll want all the details because you might just want to join us for that.
- 38:57Dayna Roselli: It's on a Friday night.
- 38:59Dayna Roselli: I'm gonna need to borrow an ugly sweater.
- 39:02Sean McAllister: Because all mine aren't ugly.
- 39:04Sean McAllister: I got 'em.
- 39:05Sean McAllister: Don't you worry, Roselli.
- 39:07Dayna Roselli: Alright, everyone.
- 39:08Dayna Roselli: Have a great week.
