- 1:28SPEAKER_01: Make sure you check out our other hosts at divasacare.com.
- 1:32SPEAKER_01: Well, Vicki, let's get started.
- 1:34SPEAKER_01: I'm so excited to welcome you to my program.
- 1:37SPEAKER_01: Good morning.
- 1:38SPEAKER_01: Thank you.
- 1:38SPEAKER_01: It's fun to be here.
- 1:40SPEAKER_01: Well, I'm excited, and I can't wait to learn all the things that you're doing to support women in their health journeys.
- 1:49SPEAKER_01: So what I want to do is, would you mind spending a couple minutes sharing a little bit about yourself with all of us?
- 1:56SPEAKER_01: Sure, sure.
- 1:57SPEAKER_01: So I am, well, like the basics, I'm a wife, I'm a mom, I'm a grandma.
- 2:03SPEAKER_01: I'm an entrepreneur.
- 2:04SPEAKER_01: I've been an entrepreneur for most of my adult life.
- 2:08SPEAKER_01: I absolutely love entrepreneurship and all that it brings.
- 2:11SPEAKER_01: I love, love, love to learn.
- 2:14SPEAKER_01: I'm in school to study integrative medicine right now.
- 2:18SPEAKER_01: My doctorate in integrative medicine.
- 2:20SPEAKER_01: So that's fun.
- 2:21SPEAKER_01: I'm a lifelong learner.
- 2:22SPEAKER_01: I really believe in the connectedness of humanity and that we are here to serve each other above all else.
- 2:30SPEAKER_01: That's a huge, important mover and driver for my business and my life.
- 2:36SPEAKER_01: And I think that people in my life would say that I'm no nonsense.
- 2:39SPEAKER_01: I'm pretty edgy, but I do try to have a bit of softness around me.
- 2:42SPEAKER_01: But I tend to call it like it is.
- 2:47SPEAKER_01: I love that.
- 2:48SPEAKER_01: And you're being real.
- 2:49SPEAKER_01: And that's exactly what it's all about.
- 2:52SPEAKER_01: Yes, absolutely agreed.
- 2:53SPEAKER_01: Yes, authenticity is where it's at for sure.
- 2:56SPEAKER_01: Nobody wants to deal with perfect people.
- 3:00SPEAKER_01: No, there's no such thing as a perfect person.
- 3:05SPEAKER_01: Exactly.
- 3:05SPEAKER_01: Vicki, can you tell us why you decided to go into natural health?
- 3:11SPEAKER_01: Sure.
- 3:12SPEAKER_01: I will make it a shorter than a long story.
- 3:14SPEAKER_01: I think it's kind of a trifecta.
- 3:18SPEAKER_01: So I was raised by a mom who was very molded by the diet industry, which I loathe, and created this human who just didn't love herself, couldn't love herself, and taught that to her girls through no fault of her own, right?
- 3:40SPEAKER_01: It's what we know at the time.
- 3:41SPEAKER_01: So I grew up with a lot of that messaging in my home, like many of the women that I serve.
- 3:50SPEAKER_01: There was that.
- 3:51SPEAKER_01: And then my dad was diagnosed with dementia at the age of 52, which is pretty close to the age I'm at now.
- 3:57SPEAKER_01: So that was a huge turning point in my own life.
- 4:00SPEAKER_01: I had been, I would say, fairly healthy before then but at that point it became a mission for me it was like holy cow this is this is some scary stuff and then I had a health crisis of my own when I was 42 I went through burnout and just a real I feel like women in their 40s we go through like a crisis of purpose or something it's I guess it would have been what people call the change of life years ago but I feel like so many of the women that I serve also go through this almost an identity crisis in their 40s or early 50s.
- 4:32SPEAKER_01: And it was really an opportunity for me to say, okay, what I'm doing is not fulfilling my purpose.
- 4:39SPEAKER_01: It's not lighting my soul up.
- 4:41SPEAKER_01: It's not doing any of those things.
- 4:43SPEAKER_01: And I mean, my body was screaming at me.
- 4:45SPEAKER_01: I hadn't slept through the night in 20 years.
- 4:47SPEAKER_01: I had gained weight that I couldn't lose no matter how many miles I ran or salads I ate.
- 4:52SPEAKER_01: Nothing was working in my life.
- 4:53SPEAKER_01: And I knew, actually it was my husband.
- 4:55SPEAKER_01: He said to me one night, You know, you're just not that nice anymore.
- 4:59SPEAKER_01: And it broke my heart.
- 5:00SPEAKER_01: Something inside of me just broke.
- 5:03SPEAKER_01: But it was what I needed to hear.
- 5:05SPEAKER_01: It was the thing that made me go, okay, look at these other things that have happened in your life, and this is an opportunity for you to change.
- 5:12SPEAKER_01: So that led me back to school for nutrition.
- 5:15SPEAKER_01: And I just actually this year, last year, sorry, 2020, started to work in university again for integrative medicine.
- 5:23SPEAKER_01: Oh, my goodness.
- 5:24UNKNOWN: Yeah.
- 5:24SPEAKER_01: Congratulations.
- 5:26SPEAKER_01: I think that's wonderful.
- 5:27SPEAKER_01: And what an inspiring story that is in itself.
- 5:30SPEAKER_01: You know, what you've overcome and how now you're, you know, you're in your 50s and you're going back to school and you're doing things.
- 5:38SPEAKER_01: And I would say to people, it's never too late to do things.
- 5:41SPEAKER_01: You know, I've always been a big believer like yourself in education and, you know, personal development and keep on learning.
- 5:49SPEAKER_01: And you are the epitome of that.
- 5:51SPEAKER_01: Thank you so much for sharing that with us, Vicki.
- 5:55SPEAKER_01: You're welcome.
- 5:55SPEAKER_01: And I'm not quite 50.
- 5:58SPEAKER_01: Not quite.
- 6:00SPEAKER_01: Not quite 50.
- 6:05SPEAKER_01: I do apologize.
- 6:07SPEAKER_01: But I completely understand, you know, I'm in my 40s also.
- 6:11SPEAKER_01: And if you do, you're going through this transition in life and you're trying to figure things out.
- 6:15SPEAKER_01: And I think it's when my kids started to get a lot older, it's like, okay, well, who am I?
- 6:20SPEAKER_01: I kind of lost track of that.
- 6:22SPEAKER_01: So your story really resonates with myself.
- 6:24SPEAKER_01: And, you know, I applaud you in every way.
- 6:28SPEAKER_01: Thank you.
- 6:29SPEAKER_01: Thank you.
- 6:29SPEAKER_01: It's a game changer when your kids grow up, isn't it?
- 6:31SPEAKER_01: It's like...
- 6:32SPEAKER_01: Everything changes.
- 6:34SPEAKER_01: Everything that you thought you were, you seem to be no longer.
- 6:37SPEAKER_01: And it just, yeah, it changes everything.
- 6:41SPEAKER_01: Oh, wow.
- 6:41SPEAKER_01: Well, you're going to school and you're doing a whole bunch of stuff, but you have, you're also an entrepreneur.
- 6:47SPEAKER_01: You're doing a lot of stuff.
- 6:49SPEAKER_01: And I want to talk about that because I really love the businesses that you are doing and how, and I want to ask you and how you're able to balance that all because that, having your home-based business is, is such a big endeavor, but going to school on top of that is huge.
- 7:05SPEAKER_01: So let's talk about that because this is going to be a big thing because a lot of people think they can't do it.
- 7:10SPEAKER_01: And I want to talk about how you're able to do it.
- 7:14SPEAKER_01: Well, how am I able to do it?
- 7:17SPEAKER_01: So if we look at the StrengthsFinder, I am an executor in the StrengthsFinder.
- 7:22SPEAKER_01: I love to get stuff done.
- 7:23SPEAKER_01: I'm pretty driven.
- 7:26SPEAKER_01: And I love to work.
- 7:28SPEAKER_01: So that can be a bad thing as well.
- 7:31SPEAKER_01: But I try to channel it as much as I can.
- 7:33SPEAKER_01: And I actually run four businesses.
- 7:37SPEAKER_01: And how do I– I don't know.
- 7:39SPEAKER_01: It's just– I'm not being very helpful.
- 7:42SPEAKER_01: I just– I think it's because I love everything I do.
- 7:45SPEAKER_01: Yeah, good.
- 7:46SPEAKER_01: Yeah, good.
- 7:48SPEAKER_01: I think it's because I love it all.
- 7:50SPEAKER_01: You know, it would be different if it was something– that I was dragging myself to, but it's, it's not like that.
- 7:55SPEAKER_01: I love, love, love what I'm doing and the women that I get to work with.
- 7:59SPEAKER_01: Primarily I work with women.
- 8:00SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 8:02SPEAKER_01: And you know, I'm in Ontario, so we are on another enforced lockdown and one of my businesses is a bricks and mortar store.
- 8:08SPEAKER_01: So it's not that I agree with what's happening at all, but it has given me the gift of a little bit more time in my other businesses.
- 8:17UNKNOWN: Yeah.
- 8:18SPEAKER_01: So I've been able to shift.
- 8:19SPEAKER_01: And I think that's been really key is any time that there is an extra little bit of time, just using it in the most effective way in another business to move that forward or in my schoolwork to move that forward instead of just...
- 8:32SPEAKER_01: letting it because you know how it is with time like it's easy to just be like oh I had a cancellation I'll just kind of chill but I think it's just you managing and using every little little pieces I don't know if you've read the book the slight edge it's one that is life-changing and that that really was um it's that philosophy that I live by I think like if I look and I have 10 minutes like okay what can I do in this 10 minutes instead of just well I only have 10 minutes I can't do anything You know what?
- 8:59SPEAKER_01: I love that.
- 9:00SPEAKER_01: And that's kind of always been the way that I live my life also.
- 9:03SPEAKER_01: You know, years ago I had a mentor saying, book your day in 15-minute increments.
- 9:07SPEAKER_01: And it really was a game changer for me because I spent so much time almost fluttering around saying, oh, I need to do this, I need to do this, and I can never get anything done.
- 9:16SPEAKER_01: And when I started putting that into my planner, okay, I've got 15 minutes to do this, it made the world of difference.
- 9:23SPEAKER_01: And I was able to get so much more done than...
- 9:27SPEAKER_01: I would have in any other way.
- 9:30SPEAKER_01: Absolutely.
- 9:30SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 9:32SPEAKER_01: So Vicki, tell us about your businesses then, because I know that a lot of them are health related.
- 9:40SPEAKER_01: I would love to hear all about them.
- 9:43SPEAKER_01: Sure.
- 9:43SPEAKER_01: So my, the biggest driver for my business and my biggest kind of machine in my business has been my doTERRA business.
- 9:49SPEAKER_01: And I've had that for about six years.
- 9:50SPEAKER_01: So doTERRA essential oils and health products.
- 9:53SPEAKER_01: And I brought them into my health business, My nutrition business because my clients needed something that we couldn't seem to find with supplements or with any number of things on the market.
- 10:06SPEAKER_01: We couldn't seem to find that thing because you know how it is when you change your health.
- 10:09SPEAKER_01: You give up sugar and you have headaches and then you're like, oh, I'm just going to have the sugar or coffee or whatever it is that you're trying to do or you have all this digestive feedback.
- 10:16SPEAKER_01: I mean, I'm a nutritionist, right?
- 10:17SPEAKER_01: So I work with digestive feedback all the time.
- 10:20SPEAKER_01: Or, you know, even emotionally, you know, feelings of anger or frustration of these things.
- 10:24SPEAKER_01: So I found that the doTERRA essential oils really helped to kind of, they kept my clients on the path to better health for longer without giving up along the way.
- 10:34SPEAKER_01: And somehow along the way, I ended up building a team and I have, I think, about 5,500 people in 20, 22 countries, maybe.
- 10:43SPEAKER_01: So I have quite a large doTERRA.
- 10:45SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 10:46SPEAKER_01: And I really love it.
- 10:47SPEAKER_01: I have a really great team of business builders.
- 10:50SPEAKER_01: We work well together and get a lot done.
- 10:53SPEAKER_01: So that's a huge part of my business for sure.
- 10:56SPEAKER_01: And then my nutrition business, my health, I run group programs for my health coaching.
- 11:05SPEAKER_01: And, of course, individuals and all of those things as well, mostly online now, which I absolutely love because I'm hugely introverted and I love to work online.
- 11:14SPEAKER_01: And then I have a bricks and mortar store that has been– it's been a real journey.
- 11:21SPEAKER_01: We opened it two weeks before COVID hit in March 2020, and we lost our– My oldest friend, actually, and our founding member, it was really her dream, this store.
- 11:33SPEAKER_01: She died unexpectedly in June last year.
- 11:35SPEAKER_01: Oh, no.
- 11:36SPEAKER_01: So it's been, yeah, it's been continually, I just can't even tell you the journey.
- 11:42SPEAKER_01: Like, we really should write a movie or a book or something because this journey of this shop has been really something else.
- 11:49SPEAKER_01: So there's that.
- 11:50SPEAKER_01: And then I have a crystal business that I do online with two of my daughters.
- 11:55UNKNOWN: Wow.
- 11:56SPEAKER_01: So those are the four.
- 11:57SPEAKER_01: They all kind of work together.
- 11:59SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 12:00SPEAKER_01: It's all the woo-woo stuff.
- 12:02SPEAKER_01: You know what?
- 12:02SPEAKER_01: And it's perfect.
- 12:03SPEAKER_01: It all works together.
- 12:04SPEAKER_01: And you're doing so many great things with it.
- 12:08SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 12:09SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 12:09SPEAKER_01: And we have fun.
- 12:10SPEAKER_01: All of it is fun.
- 12:11SPEAKER_01: And you have fun.
- 12:12SPEAKER_01: See, and that's the main thing.
- 12:14SPEAKER_01: You know, and it's funny that you said that because my kids were mentioning that the other day.
- 12:18SPEAKER_01: I have a daughter that wants to be an aerospace engineer.
- 12:22SPEAKER_01: That's her dream.
- 12:24SPEAKER_01: And she's like, you know, mom, we have to find something that we love, like a job that we love and go for it.
- 12:29SPEAKER_01: If we enjoy something, we have to do it.
- 12:31SPEAKER_01: And I said, yes, that's exactly how most people need.
- 12:33SPEAKER_01: You know, if you get a job that you don't enjoy, why are you doing it?
- 12:37SPEAKER_01: And she says, I love science so much, mom.
- 12:39SPEAKER_01: This is all I want to do.
- 12:42SPEAKER_01: That's incredible.
- 12:42SPEAKER_01: You know what?
- 12:43SPEAKER_01: Go for it.
- 12:44SPEAKER_01: You know, do what you want to do.
- 12:45SPEAKER_01: And so I love when you're sharing stories like that because it's really important.
- 12:50SPEAKER_01: I think people get stuck.
- 12:52SPEAKER_01: They think that they have to do something and they don't want to change because they're scared of that change.
- 12:57SPEAKER_01: And when I hear stories like yours, it's like, no, look what you're doing.
- 13:01SPEAKER_01: You're inspiring so many people.
- 13:03SPEAKER_01: And I applaud you for that because it's a hard thing to do.
- 13:11SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I think for me, it just became that it would have been harder to stand still, though.
- 13:17SPEAKER_01: Like, I can't imagine having stayed in that.
- 13:21SPEAKER_01: I mean, my body would have given me something else wrong to tell me that I needed to heal, right?
- 13:25SPEAKER_01: I was in burnout already, and there would have been something else.
- 13:27SPEAKER_01: Because that's the thing, when we don't listen to the messages that we're getting, they keep getting louder, right?
- 13:33SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 13:35SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 13:35SPEAKER_01: You know what, I would pull that.
- 13:37SPEAKER_01: Isn't it?
- 13:38SPEAKER_01: It's crazy.
- 13:39SPEAKER_01: I think the younger generation is more in tune than we were growing up.
- 13:44SPEAKER_01: And like yourself, I went through a lot of different changes and I really was fluttering because I had no idea.
- 13:51SPEAKER_01: I joke around and say, I don't know what I want to be when I grow up because in my head, things are always changing and I never know what purpose I have.
- 13:59SPEAKER_01: And with my kids, they're like, yeah, this is what I love and this is what I'm going to do.
- 14:04SPEAKER_01: I think, good for you.
- 14:05SPEAKER_01: I'm glad that you've got that confidence to Yeah.
- 14:09SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 14:10SPEAKER_01: And you, you've been, you've obviously instilled that in them.
- 14:13SPEAKER_01: Like you've changed that for them.
- 14:15SPEAKER_01: That wasn't there for us, maybe in our generation.
- 14:37SPEAKER_01: As women, we will automatically give it on to as many people as we can because we feel that.
- 14:43SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 14:44SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 14:44SPEAKER_01: And that is the key.
- 14:45SPEAKER_01: I love it.
- 14:47SPEAKER_01: Yeah, me too.
- 14:47SPEAKER_01: Well, you've got this six-week coaching program, and I want to talk about that.
- 14:52SPEAKER_01: How can our listeners get involved with stuff like that?
- 14:54SPEAKER_01: And because you were mentioning you do a lot of stuff online, can our listeners from around the world be involved?
- 15:00UNKNOWN: Yes.
- 15:01SPEAKER_01: Yes, absolutely.
- 15:02SPEAKER_01: I have clients in my group program right now.
- 15:04SPEAKER_01: I have a lady from France in there.
- 15:06SPEAKER_01: So, yes, from all over the world, you can join that program.
- 15:09SPEAKER_01: I normally run it if you're looking at a group program because it brings the cost down quite a bit.
- 15:14SPEAKER_01: And I personally, I do do individual coaching as well.
- 15:17SPEAKER_01: But personally, I love the energy of a group because we all need more support.
- 15:23SPEAKER_01: And I think now more than ever, we're a little more isolated now.
- 15:26SPEAKER_01: And we're not leaning on our women friends like we maybe would have and maybe should be doing.
- 15:30SPEAKER_01: So we, I have right now, I think a group of about 14 women.
- 15:34SPEAKER_01: So it's a quite an intimate group.
- 15:36SPEAKER_01: They're getting to know each other and supporting each other.
- 15:38SPEAKER_01: It's, Yeah, it's amazing, the energy in that group to help them create change.
- 15:43SPEAKER_01: So I open up my groups every few months.
- 15:45SPEAKER_01: Right now we're in the middle of this one that I'm doing, but anyone can work with me individually at any time.
- 15:50SPEAKER_01: I typically do a launch format for my group, so I will run a free challenge with all kinds of value for people that they can absolutely take what they learn and move their health forward, and then we open up the group program again.
- 16:02SPEAKER_01: So we'll do one more session before summer, and then I take July off.
- 16:08SPEAKER_01: that's july is my month to just kind of chill and i mean summer in ontario is very short so yes it is uh you know yeah and i i want to mention that to all of our amazing uh listeners because i don't think they realize what a group program entitled but it is so empowering and you're right you could have these connections and you can work with other people and get to know them and With everything that has happened in the last 18 months, I think a group program is where everybody should be a part of because we cannot connect the way that we used to.
- 16:42SPEAKER_01: So thank you for doing that because I know we all need it.
- 16:48SPEAKER_01: Agreed.
- 16:48SPEAKER_01: Agreed.
- 16:51SPEAKER_01: And your do you care business?
- 16:52SPEAKER_01: I know that there's a lot of people that are into essential oils.
- 16:55SPEAKER_01: They want to learn more about it because they understand now what the health benefits of that, you know, of essential oils are.
- 17:04SPEAKER_01: How can they get a hold of you in order to, you know, connect with you on your essential oils or your other businesses?
- 17:12SPEAKER_01: Sure.
- 17:13SPEAKER_01: So right now, actually, I mean, I know that people will listen to the recording as well, but right now we have actually an essential oils challenge coming up.
- 17:21SPEAKER_01: It starts on Monday the 19th, so you can get into that for free.
- 17:24SPEAKER_01: And I'll send you samples of essential oils to try.
- 17:27SPEAKER_01: Each day there's a different thing to try.
- 17:28SPEAKER_01: So that's something that we actually do every month, the third week of every month.
- 17:32SPEAKER_01: So you can absolutely get in and try some stuff and have some fun with our group.
- 17:36SPEAKER_01: The group is called Just Because, but you can message me.
- 17:38SPEAKER_01: You can find me at vickidixon.com.
- 17:40SPEAKER_01: Do you want me to spell that out, Candice?
- 17:43SPEAKER_01: You can definitely spell it out, and then I'm going to be posting that on all of our social media also.
- 17:48SPEAKER_01: Okay, so it's V-I-C-K-I-E, and then Dixon is D-I-C-K-S-O-N.com.
- 17:54SPEAKER_01: And then on Facebook, I'm really lame on Instagram and all the other channels, but Facebook is my jam.
- 17:59SPEAKER_01: It seems to be where I can hang out with my people.
- 18:02SPEAKER_01: So it's just VickiDixon-HealthOnPurpose.
- 18:05SPEAKER_01: I'm really easy to find on there.
- 18:06SPEAKER_01: You can follow along and reach out by message or through the website, and I would love to get you some samples, try them if you haven't tried them yet, and get you on board.
- 18:17SPEAKER_01: Well, that is excellent.
- 18:18SPEAKER_01: Thank you so much.
- 18:20SPEAKER_01: I think that is a great thing to do.
- 18:22SPEAKER_01: We're always looking for things to make us feel better as we get older, to make us look younger.
- 18:29SPEAKER_01: And let's do it the natural way.
- 18:31SPEAKER_01: There's no reason why we shouldn't be doing it that way.
- 18:34SPEAKER_01: And Vicki, one of the things I'm going to ask you is at the end of our program, we always ask our amazing guests if they have any tips, any tools, things they'd love to share with our listeners.
- 18:45SPEAKER_01: Keep it simple.
- 18:46SPEAKER_01: Keep it simple.
- 18:47SPEAKER_01: Health is not complicated.
- 18:48SPEAKER_01: And we have become a society of complicating everything.
- 18:52SPEAKER_01: Don't fall for the diets and the fads and all of that crap.
- 18:57SPEAKER_01: Thank you so much.
- 19:22SPEAKER_01: But trust me when I say that that will absolutely move the needle on your health.
- 19:26SPEAKER_01: And then in my programs, we deal more with the emotional side of why we're not well as well.
- 19:32SPEAKER_01: But really, just keep it simple.
- 19:34SPEAKER_01: Don't get on the bandwagons for all the diets and all of that stuff.
- 19:39SPEAKER_01: I love that, Jess.
- 19:40SPEAKER_01: Thank you so much for sharing it.
- 19:43SPEAKER_01: You're welcome.
- 19:44SPEAKER_01: Thanks for having me here.
- 19:46SPEAKER_01: I had a blast, Vicki.
- 19:47SPEAKER_01: I hope that you come back on the program again and share more with us in the future.
- 19:52SPEAKER_01: I would love to.
- 19:53SPEAKER_01: I would love to.
- 19:54SPEAKER_01: Thank you.
- 19:55SPEAKER_01: Oh, you're welcome.
- 19:56SPEAKER_01: Thank you so much.
- 19:57SPEAKER_01: And a huge shout-out to all of our amazing listeners.
- 20:00SPEAKER_01: Make sure you take this recorded call of Vicki Dixon and send it to all your friends and family.
- 20:06SPEAKER_01: There is so much that Vicki is doing, and I know that you'll want to connect with her.
- 20:10SPEAKER_01: I hope that everyone enjoyed this conversation as much as I did, and I hope that you do something kind today for somebody out there.
- 20:18SPEAKER_01: Until next time, everyone.
