- 0:18Speaker 2: You don't have to, Harold, but I think you'll be
- 0:20Speaker 2: glad you did.
- 0:21Speaker 4: What are you afraid of? Harold Peabody?
- 0:24Speaker 3: Afraid nothing? Now?
- 0:26Speaker 1: Hold on? You do?
- 0:27Speaker 2: I told you we'd solve this thing on the Oodcast.
- 0:30Speaker 4: There's nothing to solve, is there? There was a test
- 0:33Speaker 4: answer sheet under Harold's desk. Everyone saw it.
- 0:36Speaker 3: Natalia, how do you even know? You're in like kindergarten?
- 0:40Speaker 4: I'm in second grade? Same thing, Harold Peabody, It's not
- 0:45Speaker 4: the same thing you, you.
- 0:47Speaker 3: Test cheater, Natalia Lee? How dare you accuse me of cheating?
- 0:51Speaker 3: I'm an honest person and I wouldn't do that, Harold.
- 0:54Speaker 2: Hold on, Natalia, quit making Harold missus O'Leary's cow.
- 0:57Speaker 4: I wasn't. Huh what does that even mean? Chaplain Jake?
- 1:02Speaker 3: So now we're calling me a test cheater and a cow.
- 1:05Speaker 3: I'm done, herold.
- 1:06Speaker 2: No, I'm not calling you a cow. Natalie is accusing
- 1:10Speaker 2: you of something really serious, taking an answer key to
- 1:14Speaker 2: a test.
- 1:15Speaker 3: I didn't do it right.
- 1:16Speaker 2: You maintain your innocence just like missus O'Leary's cow.
- 1:21Speaker 3: I'm very confused and still upset.
- 1:24Speaker 4: Story Time, Chaplin, Jake, this isn't kindergarten and we're not
- 1:28Speaker 4: in the mood for a story.
- 1:30Speaker 2: Oh listen to this one. It'll make perfect sense at
- 1:32Speaker 2: the end.
- 1:33Speaker 1: Okay.
- 1:34Speaker 3: I mean it gets me away from everyone who's looking
- 1:36Speaker 3: at me funny thinking I'm a cheater thanks to Natalia.
- 1:41Speaker 4: I heard my mom say they found it under your desk, Harold.
- 1:44Speaker 1: But Storytime, listen.
- 1:46Speaker 2: Ever been to Chicago?
- 1:48Speaker 3: Yes?
- 1:49Speaker 4: No, but I want to see the bean sculpture there.
- 1:52Speaker 2: Well, Chicago is a beautiful city today, but back in
- 1:55Speaker 2: eighteen seventy one, it was almost destroyed how by a
- 1:59Speaker 2: fire on the night of October eighth. The fire started,
- 2:03Speaker 2: it was windy.
- 2:04Speaker 3: Isn't Chicago called the windy City?
- 2:07Speaker 4: Everyone knows that, Harold.
- 2:08Speaker 1: Well, the city share lived up to it's nickname that night,
- 2:11Speaker 1: because the fire spread quickly and burned for three days.
- 2:15Speaker 3: WHOA, that's a long time yep.
- 2:18Speaker 2: Three point three square miles of the city were destroyed.
- 2:21Speaker 3: Oh.
- 2:21Speaker 4: No, people's homes burned down.
- 2:24Speaker 2: They did, and the fire left about one hundred thousand
- 2:27Speaker 2: people without homes.
- 2:28Speaker 3: That's terrible, it was.
- 2:30Speaker 2: And even more terrible, three hundred people died.
- 2:34Speaker 4: Died. Ooh, that was a bad fire.
- 2:37Speaker 3: It sure was. How'd it start?
- 2:39Speaker 2: It started in Missus O'Leary's barn.
- 2:42Speaker 4: Missus O'Leary.
- 2:43Speaker 1: Uh huh.
- 2:44Speaker 2: And in the days after the fire, a reporter from
- 2:47Speaker 2: the Chicago Tribune made up a story.
- 2:49Speaker 3: Reporters are supposed to make up stories. They're supposed to
- 2:52Speaker 3: report the facts.
- 2:53Speaker 2: Right, But this reporter didn't follow that. He wrote the
- 2:57Speaker 2: fire started when Missus O'Leary's cow kicked over a lamb
- 3:00Speaker 2: and while.
- 3:00Speaker 4: Being milked Missus O'Leary's cow.
- 3:03Speaker 1: Yep.
- 3:04Speaker 2: The reporter admitted years later that he'd made the whole
- 3:06Speaker 2: thing up. It didn't matter by then, because you see,
- 3:09Speaker 2: everyone had heard the story and he believed it.
- 3:12Speaker 3: So what really happened. How'd the fire actually start?
- 3:15Speaker 2: Well, nobody knows for sure. It might have been a
- 3:18Speaker 2: chimney spark that set some hay on fire. Maybe a
- 3:20Speaker 2: neighbor's carelessness.
- 3:22Speaker 4: Poor Missus O'Leary.
- 3:24Speaker 1: Oh yes, In needy people made up songs about her
- 3:27Speaker 1: and her cow, blaming them for starting the terrible fire.
- 3:30Speaker 4: That's not nice.
- 3:31Speaker 2: M mmm, sure isn't. Missus O'Leary lived the rest of
- 3:35Speaker 2: her life away from everybody. Everyone else believed the reporter
- 3:38Speaker 2: story even though it wasn't true.
- 3:40Speaker 4: Ah, I get it. So he took one piece of
- 3:44Speaker 4: information and added to it exactly, Harold, I'm sorry. I
- 3:48Speaker 4: didn't mean to call you a cow.
- 3:51Speaker 3: Thanks. And by that, I guess you mean he didn't
- 3:53Speaker 3: mean to say I cheated on a test.
- 3:55Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean there could be another reason that test
- 3:58Speaker 4: answer key was under your I guess a reason like this.
- 4:04Speaker 3: Read it a text for miss Holt. Hey is this
- 4:06Speaker 3: a teacher group chat? What all do you guys talk about?
- 4:09Speaker 2: Never mind that Natalia read the message for miss Holt.
- 4:13Speaker 4: Okay, hey, y'all, I figured out what happened. I dropped
- 4:17Speaker 4: my test answer key in class and it must have
- 4:20Speaker 4: slid under Harold's desk. He's innocent, as his greade on
- 4:24Speaker 4: the test clearly proves. And then Miss Natasha replied with
- 4:28Speaker 4: a laughing face in moji and and.
- 4:30Speaker 2: That's enough of reading the teacher group chat. So Natalia,
- 4:34Speaker 2: would you think.
- 4:35Speaker 4: Harold, you're innocent. I'm so sorry.
- 4:38Speaker 3: Well, thank you, and I told you I was.
- 4:41Speaker 4: I was being like the reporter. I have to make
- 4:43Speaker 4: it right.
- 4:44Speaker 2: Do you want to make an announcement, Natalia, we can
- 4:47Speaker 2: ask DS if that's.
- 4:48Speaker 4: Okay, definitely, I'll go right now.
- 4:50Speaker 3: I'll go with you, just to make sure you say
- 4:53Speaker 3: it right.
- 4:54Speaker 4: I'll apologize, Harold.
- 4:56Speaker 3: Yeah, but I'll make sure you don't call me a cow.
- 4:59Speaker 1: Fine, come on, book you guys.
- 5:01Speaker 2: The podcast, Well, listeners, my story really helped. Have you
- 5:07Speaker 2: ever been in a situation like this. There's a verse
- 5:10Speaker 2: about this in the Book of Proverbs. Let me read
- 5:12Speaker 2: it for you to close.
- 5:13Speaker 1: Since my guests have left me. It says, for lack of.
- 5:17Speaker 2: Wood, the fire goes out, and where there's no whisper,
- 5:20Speaker 2: quarreling ceases. That's Proverbs twenty six, verse twenty. So if
- 5:25Speaker 2: you hear something, don't add wood to the fire. Find
- 5:28Speaker 2: the truth before you spread a lie. Lies can spread
- 5:32Speaker 2: faster than fire.
- 5:34Speaker 3: Hey chaplain Jake, Oh, Harold, Yeah, thanks for helping me.
- 5:38Speaker 1: We're welcome, and that's our show for today. I'm Jacob P.
