- 0:19SPEAKER_1: Glad to be with you.
- 0:20SPEAKER_1: The Concerned Clergy radio program on tonight.
- 0:25SPEAKER_1: On tonight, we're going to be sharing some information regarding...
- 0:28SPEAKER_1: There's some Medicaid issues that you need to be made aware of.
- 0:36SPEAKER_1: But what are those issues?
- 0:38SPEAKER_1: Well, there's going to be changes if you are enrolled in the Healthy Indiana Plan.
- 0:42SPEAKER_1: So if you're part of HIP, there's some changes you definitely need to be made aware of.
- 0:46SPEAKER_1: And we're going to share some information in regards to that on this evening.
- 0:50SPEAKER_1: And then also, we have six days left.
- 0:54SPEAKER_1: Six days left to vote.
- 0:56SPEAKER_1: So if you haven't voted yet, make sure that you have a plan, you get it in.
- 1:03SPEAKER_1: The numbers, the turnout seems to be extraordinary.
- 1:06SPEAKER_1: So we want to contribute to that as well.
- 1:09SPEAKER_1: Let me go ahead and say good evening to our president, Pastor Greene.
- 1:13SPEAKER_1: How are you doing?
- 1:14SPEAKER_2: I'm doing well, Reverend Alexander.
- 1:16SPEAKER_2: Good to be with you and all of our listeners and social media participants on this evening.
- 1:23SPEAKER_2: It's great weather in October.
- 1:26SPEAKER_2: So I'm excited about that as well.
- 1:29SPEAKER_1: It certainly is.
- 1:30SPEAKER_1: It is a blessing if we can just keep this,
- 1:32SPEAKER_1: let it carry on throughout the winter here in Indiana.
- 1:36SPEAKER_1: We also invite you, can catch the replay of our program.
- 1:39SPEAKER_1: That's the Substack that plays on the Progressive Indiana Network
- 1:44SPEAKER_1: the day following our program.
- 1:46SPEAKER_1: So you can once again go to Progressive Indiana Network and catch the replay
- 1:50SPEAKER_1: if you are Not able to catch the program in its entirety or if you just want
- 1:54SPEAKER_1: to share some of the information with someone else.
- 1:56SPEAKER_1: We also want to make sure that,
- 1:58SPEAKER_1: you know,
- 1:58SPEAKER_1: as we try to educate the community and provide information and resources
- 2:04SPEAKER_1: that you're sharing that as well with your loved ones.
- 2:07SPEAKER_1: Mr. President, I'm going to ask if you would open this up in prayer, please.
- 2:11SPEAKER_2: Eternal God our Father, we come before you once again.
- 2:13SPEAKER_2: Humble us, we know how.
- 2:14SPEAKER_2: Lord, we thank you for this day.
- 2:16SPEAKER_2: Thank you, Lord God, for continuing to watch over us.
- 2:18SPEAKER_2: Lord, we pray for our city.
- 2:20SPEAKER_2: Our state and our country,
- 2:22SPEAKER_2: Lord God,
- 2:22SPEAKER_2: we pray for all those who will be impacted by these Medicaid changes as well,
- 2:27SPEAKER_2: Lord God.
- 2:28SPEAKER_2: We pray that information goes out and people will be protected from harm.
- 2:33SPEAKER_2: In Jesus' name, amen.
- 2:35SPEAKER_1: Amen.
- 2:36SPEAKER_1: Well, we're going to wrap our Medicaid conversation around voting.
- 2:40SPEAKER_1: We want to really encourage you to vote.
- 2:42SPEAKER_1: We also want to encourage you,
- 2:43SPEAKER_1: if you want to be part of the conversation on tonight,
- 2:45SPEAKER_1: you can call into the radio station.
- 2:47SPEAKER_1: And that phone number is 317-488.
- 2:50SPEAKER_1: Once again, 317-480-1310.
- 2:54SPEAKER_1: But we're going to start talking about voting and we're going to end talking about voting.
- 2:58SPEAKER_1: Right now, early voting is going on.
- 3:02SPEAKER_1: As of last weekend, many early voting sites opened up.
- 3:07SPEAKER_1: We had a march to the polls.
- 3:10SPEAKER_1: And it seems like here in Marion County, seems like we have pretty good turnout.
- 3:16SPEAKER_1: And I've got, if you're with us on Facebook, I've got those early voting location sites.
- 3:21SPEAKER_1: I've got them pulled up so you don't have to be tied to the one close to your home,
- 3:26SPEAKER_1: but you can actually go and you can vote at any one of the vote centers.
- 3:31SPEAKER_1: Mr. President,
- 3:32SPEAKER_1: I think based on what I'm hearing,
- 3:35SPEAKER_1: there seems to be a lot of engagement as far as voters coming out.
- 3:39SPEAKER_2: Well, yeah, I'm excited about what I'm hearing.
- 3:44SPEAKER_2: I believe that when people go to the gas station and see the gas prices,
- 3:48SPEAKER_2: go to the grocery stores and do many other items,
- 3:52SPEAKER_2: they're all concerned about where we are from certainly an economic standpoint.
- 3:58SPEAKER_2: And then if you add the war and other things that are going on,
- 4:01SPEAKER_2: I think it's causing people to say, hey, I need to go vote.
- 4:07SPEAKER_1: It's extremely important.
- 4:09SPEAKER_1: And I do believe a lot of folks are really, I'll say, feeling the pinch, if you will.
- 4:15SPEAKER_1: They're actually feeling the pain of what's going on.
- 4:20SPEAKER_1: And if nothing else, I'll put it like this.
- 4:27SPEAKER_1: In a lot of cases,
- 4:28SPEAKER_1: you had families that were just tied to,
- 4:30SPEAKER_1: you know what,
- 4:31SPEAKER_1: you know,
- 4:31SPEAKER_1: whatever, my,
- 4:33SPEAKER_1: you know,
- 4:33SPEAKER_1: Republican or Democrat,
- 4:35SPEAKER_1: you know, husband or significant other, whoever they chose, I just rode with it.
- 4:40SPEAKER_1: I think right now you have a lot of people that are really paying attention
- 4:44SPEAKER_1: and they're like, well, wait a minute now.
- 4:48SPEAKER_1: You know, there's some things that's affecting us as a family.
- 4:51SPEAKER_1: You know,
- 4:51SPEAKER_1: there's some folks like Marjorie Taylor Greene that's like,
- 4:55SPEAKER_1: wait a minute now,
- 4:56SPEAKER_1: I've got,
- 4:56SPEAKER_1: you know,
- 4:58SPEAKER_1: folks in my family that I love that need health care and we're destroying it.
- 5:03SPEAKER_1: And they're being honest about their own personal situations.
- 5:06SPEAKER_1: And I think that's important to take that mindset to the polls.
- 5:10SPEAKER_2: Well,
- 5:10SPEAKER_2: I think the Big Beautiful Bill and the things that they have in it that clashes
- 5:16SPEAKER_2: so many of these benefits are causing people to say,
- 5:19SPEAKER_2: I got to revisit this because I think,
- 5:21SPEAKER_2: you know,
- 5:22SPEAKER_2: one thing about it, the Big Beautiful Bill did not just impact one race of people.
- 5:28SPEAKER_2: So it's coming across the spectrum.
- 5:30SPEAKER_2: And I think that a lot of people are suffering and they're saying,
- 5:32SPEAKER_2: wait a minute, I'm suffering here.
- 5:34SPEAKER_2: Maybe they thought they wouldn't have to suffer.
- 5:36SPEAKER_2: They thought maybe only certain other people would have to suffer.
- 5:39SPEAKER_2: And that's not the case.
- 5:40SPEAKER_2: This is a case where,
- 5:42SPEAKER_2: based on economics,
- 5:44SPEAKER_2: People are suffering across the board,
- 5:46SPEAKER_2: even from an education standpoint,
- 5:48SPEAKER_2: from a healthcare standpoint,
- 5:50SPEAKER_2: just affordability issues,
- 5:53SPEAKER_2: the whole issue around data centers,
- 5:56SPEAKER_2: and the fear of what utility prices,
- 5:59SPEAKER_2: which are already going up, that were going up prior to data centers.
- 6:04SPEAKER_2: So people are looking like, wait a minute, I can't sustain...
- 6:08SPEAKER_2: With those things continuing to climb.
- 6:11SPEAKER_2: And so I think they woke up, I think people woke up and said, I need to go vote.
- 6:15SPEAKER_2: I'm hoping that people who would normally wait for like
- 6:19SPEAKER_2: a presidential election saying, nope, I need to send a clear message.
- 6:23SPEAKER_2: I need to send it now because they're being impacted by this stuff.
- 6:26SPEAKER_2: These things are real and they're taking place right now, not in 2028.
- 6:32SPEAKER_2: So the time to exercise your right and clear the message is right now
- 6:37SPEAKER_2: or else we will see this continue if they feel like,
- 6:40SPEAKER_2: well, this is business as usual.
- 6:41SPEAKER_2: People really didn't care about it.
- 6:43SPEAKER_2: Then we'll probably see these prices continue and you'll see legislators
- 6:49SPEAKER_2: and counselors turn their head to data centers and that type of stuff
- 6:53SPEAKER_2: and it'll move quickly.
- 6:55SPEAKER_2: But if the community comes out and votes and exercises its right to vote,
- 7:00SPEAKER_2: I think that will send a clear message that will cause some people to say, well,
- 7:03SPEAKER_2: maybe I can't be the face of standing up supporting this
- 7:07SPEAKER_2: because they will fear what's going to happen next because next year you got
- 7:10SPEAKER_2: a council race.
- 7:12SPEAKER_2: So there will be people, the counselors are looking at how does this work out.
- 7:18SPEAKER_2: And if the people are upset about this stuff and they're talking
- 7:21SPEAKER_2: about affordability issues,
- 7:23SPEAKER_2: I'm not sure a counselor who wants to get reelected is going to be the face of,
- 7:27SPEAKER_2: yeah, let's go bring this data center in.
- 7:29SPEAKER_2: And I'm not telling the community how it's going to get paid for from a utility perspective.
- 7:34SPEAKER_2: They know they would definitely have Beginning primary.
- 7:39SPEAKER_2: And, you know, they'd have a battle on their hands if they're going to sustain that.
- 7:43SPEAKER_2: So it's important that we get out and vote.
- 7:47SPEAKER_1: Well, when you really look at it now, you have a lot of folks that in it.
- 7:53SPEAKER_1: And it's funny how,
- 7:54SPEAKER_1: you know,
- 7:55SPEAKER_1: data centers have kind of been the area where people for
- 7:59SPEAKER_1: the most part have come together.
- 8:01SPEAKER_1: You know,
- 8:01SPEAKER_1: where they can say we have a similar concern or here's something that,
- 8:08SPEAKER_1: you know, we can look at and say, well, we're not in favor of and agree on.
- 8:16SPEAKER_1: It's on one hand, it's great.
- 8:18SPEAKER_1: And hopefully people are looking at that and saying, yeah, we need to discuss it.
- 8:22SPEAKER_1: We need to talk about it.
- 8:24SPEAKER_1: But on another hand, it's like that's the issue.
- 8:28SPEAKER_1: This is the one because there's been so many other issues,
- 8:32SPEAKER_1: you know,
- 8:34SPEAKER_1: that really folks could have galvanized together on over the last 10 years.
- 8:43SPEAKER_2: Oh, without a doubt.
- 8:44SPEAKER_2: But I think there's something about the pocketbook.
- 8:50SPEAKER_2: You know, it's all about the money, right?
- 8:53SPEAKER_2: And so when you begin to immediately attack the pocketbook,
- 8:57SPEAKER_2: which is what you see when you look at,
- 9:00SPEAKER_2: you know,
- 9:00SPEAKER_2: gas prices,
- 9:01SPEAKER_2: where they are in our city and what's happening with food prices,
- 9:06SPEAKER_2: et cetera, rents have gone up, all those things that are geared around economics.
- 9:11SPEAKER_2: And keep in mind,
- 9:12SPEAKER_2: you have people asking for more money and you're cutting benefits,
- 9:16SPEAKER_2: health care, et cetera.
- 9:18SPEAKER_2: Well, that gets to be personal.
- 9:21SPEAKER_2: You can no longer say,
- 9:22SPEAKER_2: well, I'm not going to be impacted by it because you're not living in isolation.
- 9:27SPEAKER_2: So now you've got to wake up and say, I need to go vote.
- 9:30SPEAKER_2: I need to go send the message because this is not like it only impacts them.
- 9:37SPEAKER_2: Now it's impacting us.
- 9:39SPEAKER_2: And us should say, man, I need to go vote versus, well, it ain't really impacting me anyway.
- 9:47SPEAKER_2: I'll let them figure it out.
- 9:48SPEAKER_2: Well,
- 9:49SPEAKER_2: the them to me is turning to an us because if you're not in the top 1% and you're in
- 9:56SPEAKER_2: the 99%,
- 9:57SPEAKER_2: then we're all in the same boat because our costs are going consistently up.
- 10:04SPEAKER_2: And the things you hear are things that raise the cost.
- 10:08SPEAKER_2: You don't hear things that say, well, this is what's going to come.
- 10:10SPEAKER_2: And in the next three months, it's going to lower your costs.
- 10:13SPEAKER_2: That ain't the message.
- 10:15SPEAKER_2: We're all concerned about what's next in terms of costs.
- 10:19SPEAKER_2: In terms of what's going up,
- 10:20SPEAKER_2: whether that's in some cases,
- 10:22SPEAKER_2: referendums,
- 10:24SPEAKER_2: whether that's health care costs,
- 10:26SPEAKER_2: whether that's, you know, interest rate stuff, costs, credit card debt.
- 10:31SPEAKER_2: I mean, all of that stuff is additional costs.
- 10:35SPEAKER_2: And people are looking at those things when they go to the stores, etc.
- 10:41SPEAKER_2: They got to be thinking about these costs.
- 10:44SPEAKER_2: Thanksgiving is going to be more expensive.
- 10:48SPEAKER_2: Christmas is going to be more expensive.
- 10:51SPEAKER_2: That's the reality.
- 10:52SPEAKER_2: And we're in that boat, unless you're the top 1%, then you're not worried about it.
- 10:57SPEAKER_2: But everybody else is having to think about that.
- 11:01SPEAKER_2: And I think that's going to drive people to the polls.
- 11:06SPEAKER_2: I think that's what we're seeing and hearing and experiencing.
- 11:09SPEAKER_1: Well, speaking about driving people to the polls,
- 11:12SPEAKER_1: this coming up weekend,
- 11:13SPEAKER_1: there's going to be Marion County souls to the polls, Mr. President.
- 11:18SPEAKER_1: So all of the township
- 11:21SPEAKER_1: vote centers that are open, That opened on last weekend.
- 11:26SPEAKER_1: There's going to be souls to the polls right after church.
- 11:30SPEAKER_1: There's going to be a lot of churches that are going to be galvanizing
- 11:35SPEAKER_1: the congregations and saying we're going to go out together and vote.
- 11:40SPEAKER_1: And you can do that this coming Sunday.
- 11:42SPEAKER_1: Mr. President,
- 11:42SPEAKER_1: kind of speak a little bit more,
- 11:44SPEAKER_1: you know, with the overall collaborative effort for souls to the polls.
- 11:49SPEAKER_2: I can't say it was a collaborative effort because I was just finding this out today
- 11:53SPEAKER_2: in terms of getting that flyer.
- 11:54SPEAKER_2: So I would have said to the organizers,
- 11:57SPEAKER_2: make sure you get it to the pastors at least a week or two earlier
- 12:00SPEAKER_2: so they could share with their congregations versus dropping it on them Sunday.
- 12:04SPEAKER_2: Say, hey, by the way, right after church, we need to go do this.
- 12:09SPEAKER_2: But I definitely support people going to go vote.
- 12:13SPEAKER_2: I think that you've talked earlier on other shows about the importance of –
- 12:20SPEAKER_2: A greater collaboration, greater planning.
- 12:22SPEAKER_2: This is one of them that needs that.
- 12:24SPEAKER_2: I hope people will do it,
- 12:26SPEAKER_2: but I would love for pastors to have had this in their announcements
- 12:31SPEAKER_2: or emphasis period last week or two weeks ago.
- 12:35SPEAKER_2: I mean, it kind of tells me that some of the people engaged in
- 12:39SPEAKER_2: the planning process didn't necessarily run that fast.
- 12:42SPEAKER_2: Any pastors that would have said, hey,
- 12:44SPEAKER_2: wait a minute,
- 12:45SPEAKER_2: if you're going to do that,
- 12:46SPEAKER_2: You need to at least get this out a couple of weeks earlier.
- 12:48SPEAKER_2: It's not like you didn't know when election day was coming or when you were doing this.
- 12:52SPEAKER_2: So I was vaguely aware that, hey, from the part there was going to be something.
- 12:57SPEAKER_2: It's just, you know, this is a little late getting out.
- 13:00SPEAKER_2: But, you know,
- 13:01SPEAKER_2: we'll do the best we can to obviously to promote it,
- 13:04SPEAKER_2: encourage people to participate.
- 13:07SPEAKER_2: The main thing is we have to make sure we go vote.
- 13:10SPEAKER_2: And it's calling for rain on Tuesday now.
- 13:13SPEAKER_2: And so my concern,
- 13:14SPEAKER_2: Reverend Alexander,
- 13:15SPEAKER_2: is People don't want to get wet,
- 13:17SPEAKER_2: and I don't see them standing outside to get into some facility.
- 13:22SPEAKER_2: So, you know, if Sunday is like it has been the rest of this week, go vote.
- 13:27SPEAKER_2: Get it done.
- 13:28SPEAKER_2: Go to one of these facilities and go vote because you can vote in any
- 13:34SPEAKER_2: of these facilities in our county, live in the county.
- 13:37SPEAKER_2: So that's what I would say.
- 13:39SPEAKER_1: So they're all listed on our Facebook page there and all the townships of where you can go.
- 13:43SPEAKER_1: Once again, all of those locations opened up this past weekend.
- 13:48SPEAKER_1: If you'd like to be part of our conversation, you can join by calling into the studio.
- 13:53SPEAKER_1: That number is 317-480-1310.
- 13:55SPEAKER_1: You can also comment on our Facebook feed.
- 13:59SPEAKER_1: We do have a caller and we've got some comments too I'm going to attend to.
- 14:03SPEAKER_1: Let's go ahead and bring our caller in, Joyce.
- 14:06SPEAKER_3: Okay, so I voted last Friday at the city-county building,
- 14:13SPEAKER_3: but, you know, they have a website where you don't know who's representing what.
- 14:21SPEAKER_3: You can go on and pick it,
- 14:23SPEAKER_3: but tomorrow ain't promised for nobody,
- 14:26SPEAKER_3: so I would say you get out while you're still sucking air and vote now.
- 14:33SPEAKER_3: Okay.
- 14:34SPEAKER_3: But that's your option.
- 14:35SPEAKER_3: Everybody have choices.
- 14:40SPEAKER_3: There are other concerns in the community, like these people playing crazy.
- 14:49SPEAKER_3: I'm sorry, maybe that ain't the right term.
- 14:52SPEAKER_3: But when you go sacrificing your children,
- 14:55SPEAKER_3: throwing them in the water and things, that's sort of spooky to me.
- 14:59SPEAKER_3: And Halloween don't make it right.
- 15:02SPEAKER_3: Hmm.
- 15:03SPEAKER_1: All right.
- 15:04SPEAKER_1: Hey, Joyce, you have some interference in your phone line.
- 15:10SPEAKER_1: I'm not sure what that is.
- 15:12SPEAKER_3: That's my home, man.
- 15:14SPEAKER_3: Home line.
- 15:15SPEAKER_3: I ain't got no... Yeah, okay.
- 15:18SPEAKER_3: I have a blessed day.
- 15:19SPEAKER_3: Thank you for taking my call.
- 15:21SPEAKER_1: Will you be blessed as well?
- 15:22SPEAKER_1: Continue to listen.
- 15:26SPEAKER_1: You know...
- 15:28SPEAKER_1: Even as Joyce brought up some of the community issues,
- 15:31SPEAKER_1: a lot of this stuff is tied to your legislators,
- 15:34SPEAKER_1: to what they're voting,
- 15:38SPEAKER_1: what they're putting into legislation,
- 15:40SPEAKER_1: what they're doing in regards to providing resources,
- 15:43SPEAKER_1: how they're taking away resources.
- 15:45SPEAKER_1: We're going to talk about Medicaid and HIP here in a little bit.
- 15:49SPEAKER_1: That's an area that's legislated and what they're doing.
- 15:52SPEAKER_1: So a lot of that, it's important to vote for that very reason.
- 15:57SPEAKER_2: Yeah, I mean, I applaud Joyce for voting and getting it done.
- 16:02SPEAKER_2: And tomorrow is not promised, so I agree with that as well.
- 16:05SPEAKER_2: You can get it done tomorrow, get it done.
- 16:09SPEAKER_2: Because you don't want to run out of time, say I was going to do this, it was on the list.
- 16:13SPEAKER_2: Because it matters.
- 16:15SPEAKER_2: Because all of these decisions that we're seeing,
- 16:18SPEAKER_2: and the actions we're seeing,
- 16:20SPEAKER_2: the mean-spiritedness of the things we're seeing,
- 16:22SPEAKER_2: most of which is in that book, Project 2025.
- 16:27SPEAKER_2: So we're just seeing it play out, Reverend Alexander.
- 16:29SPEAKER_2: We can't really say, well, we didn't know anything about it.
- 16:32SPEAKER_2: No, when Project 2025 was out,
- 16:35SPEAKER_2: we looked at that and we saw these things and they are being played out.
- 16:41SPEAKER_2: And so the only way to push back against that, the only thing we have is to vote.
- 16:47SPEAKER_2: We have to go vote to send a message that says, we don't want all that.
- 16:51SPEAKER_2: We don't like all of that.
- 16:55SPEAKER_2: And people understand that Project 2025 only benefits very few.
- 17:01SPEAKER_2: It's not going to benefit.
- 17:02SPEAKER_2: I mean, you might,
- 17:03SPEAKER_2: you know,
- 17:04SPEAKER_2: have an opinion about something,
- 17:05SPEAKER_2: but you got to understand Project 2025 is about the 1%.
- 17:09SPEAKER_2: I mean, why are they cutting education and health care and on down?
- 17:14SPEAKER_2: Why are they doing it?
- 17:15SPEAKER_2: Where's that money going when they save it?
- 17:18SPEAKER_2: Who's getting it?
- 17:19SPEAKER_2: Where does it eventually go to?
- 17:21SPEAKER_2: If we're going to save all this money, we're going to do all these cuts for the amount of time.
- 17:26SPEAKER_2: Where does this money end up at?
- 17:30SPEAKER_2: Because it's not coming back to the community because he's taking it from the community.
- 17:35SPEAKER_2: So this is the group he's going to take it from.
- 17:37SPEAKER_2: He's going to say, community, if you want quality education, you spend more money for it.
- 17:42SPEAKER_2: You want health care, you personally spend more money for it.
- 17:47SPEAKER_2: So when they take this away from the community,
- 17:50SPEAKER_2: they're on the other side saying,
- 17:51SPEAKER_2: you want something of quality, you pay more for it.
- 17:55SPEAKER_2: But what happened to the safeties?
- 17:57SPEAKER_2: Where did it go?
- 17:59SPEAKER_1: You know what, Mr. President?
- 18:00SPEAKER_1: Here's something I want people to realize.
- 18:03SPEAKER_1: And I'm going to throw this in, too, because we got a comment on the feed there from John.
- 18:09SPEAKER_1: He says, after we vote, then what?
- 18:13SPEAKER_1: Well, there is a then what, John, and we need to be prepared for then what?
- 18:20SPEAKER_1: Because even if the numbers go a certain way,
- 18:23SPEAKER_1: Something's going to have to be done afterwards because I think there's going to be
- 18:28SPEAKER_1: a lot of shenanigans in regards to certifying the votes or getting people seated
- 18:34SPEAKER_1: from voting.
- 18:36SPEAKER_1: I believe that's going to happen.
- 18:38SPEAKER_1: But what I wanted to add to that is that President Trump mentioned,
- 18:43SPEAKER_1: you know, something in regards to voting.
- 18:47SPEAKER_1: If the election comes out a certain way that we're going to end up like France
- 18:51SPEAKER_1: and people are going to be rioting and burning the streets.
- 18:54SPEAKER_1: Mr. President,
- 18:55SPEAKER_1: I want people to know because you brought it to my attention
- 18:58SPEAKER_1: because you mentioned education a few times.
- 19:01SPEAKER_1: The reason that France is going through what they're going through now has nothing
- 19:05SPEAKER_1: to do with elections.
- 19:06SPEAKER_1: It's about the quality of the education system.
- 19:10SPEAKER_1: They right now are rioting,
- 19:12SPEAKER_1: if you will, protesting because of the fact that the education has gone downhill.
- 19:22SPEAKER_1: That's the real reason.
- 19:23SPEAKER_1: Trump didn't tell you that.
- 19:26SPEAKER_1: So if you want to compare apples to apples,
- 19:29SPEAKER_1: think about what Pastor Greene just said,
- 19:31SPEAKER_1: you know,
- 19:32SPEAKER_1: talking about how people are losing their,
- 19:34SPEAKER_1: you know, health care, education and everything.
- 19:37SPEAKER_1: That's what it could potentially lead to.
- 19:40SPEAKER_1: And we don't want nothing like that.
- 19:43SPEAKER_2: Certainly we don't want that.
- 19:44SPEAKER_2: And that's why it's so imperative that we go vote.
- 19:49SPEAKER_2: Because once you vote,
- 19:50SPEAKER_2: you send a message right then and there to potential other candidates,
- 19:54SPEAKER_2: the existing candidates.
- 19:56SPEAKER_2: Hey, these people who have not been voting, all voted.
- 20:00SPEAKER_2: Now, can I win in that type of pool?
- 20:03SPEAKER_2: And so they will be thinking like that,
- 20:05SPEAKER_2: who want to protect their position, their power, their title, et cetera.
- 20:09SPEAKER_2: They will weigh in.
- 20:11SPEAKER_2: The problem is when you don't vote, then you have no clout for them to change their mind.
- 20:15SPEAKER_2: They go with the people who vote.
- 20:17SPEAKER_2: If the people voting say they want X, then that's what they go with.
- 20:23SPEAKER_2: But if people voting say Y,
- 20:25SPEAKER_2: then they will go that direction because they just want the position of power
- 20:28SPEAKER_2: and title.
- 20:29SPEAKER_2: And so we have to go vote.
- 20:31SPEAKER_2: And once you go vote, then you can hold people accountable to that.
- 20:34SPEAKER_2: Because if you go in and you didn't do what you said you were going to do,
- 20:37SPEAKER_2: then you know you won't be there very long.
- 20:39SPEAKER_2: You can be one term and be out because they're voting or sending a message.
- 20:44SPEAKER_2: And I think we got to all wake up and look at this.
- 20:46SPEAKER_2: Okay, now, are you excited about the gas prices?
- 20:50SPEAKER_2: Are you excited about this war?
- 20:51SPEAKER_2: Are you willing to continue to pay for that?
- 20:53SPEAKER_2: Are you willing to...
- 20:54SPEAKER_2: That pay for a school referendum.
- 20:56SPEAKER_2: You're willing to pay more for less quality health care.
- 21:02SPEAKER_2: How much are you willing to endure and how much pain you're willing to suffer?
- 21:05SPEAKER_2: If you're willing to do that, okay,
- 21:07SPEAKER_2: you'll vote,
- 21:08SPEAKER_2: you know, and say, or don't vote and say, I don't care how it plays out.
- 21:13SPEAKER_2: But if you're concerned about it, you'll say, uh-uh.
- 21:17SPEAKER_2: And it should be, hopefully, get beyond you.
- 21:19SPEAKER_2: You should be thinking about future generations in here and thinking, Now, wait a minute.
- 21:24SPEAKER_2: I need this to be a better place.
- 21:26SPEAKER_2: I need this to be a better Indiana.
- 21:28SPEAKER_2: I need this to be a better Marion County or whatever county you live in.
- 21:32SPEAKER_2: You got to make decisions and say what would be best,
- 21:36SPEAKER_2: even get beyond you and say what would be best for the people near me,
- 21:42SPEAKER_2: community coming behind me and make those decisions.
- 21:46SPEAKER_2: The people in France didn't wake up one day and decide to start rioting.
- 21:51SPEAKER_2: That stuff doesn't even come overnight.
- 21:54SPEAKER_2: That is years of frustration.
- 21:59SPEAKER_2: And when you get a lot of frustrated people dealing with situations,
- 22:04SPEAKER_2: then you get this type of action because it's not a one term or one time thing
- 22:10SPEAKER_2: to happen.
- 22:11SPEAKER_2: It is the frustration of things that have been brought up
- 22:16SPEAKER_2: that have not been responded to properly.
- 22:20SPEAKER_2: That's how you get there.
- 22:23SPEAKER_1: All right, we have to go to our first break of the hour.
- 22:25SPEAKER_1: If you'd like to be part of the conversation, you can call in.
- 22:28SPEAKER_1: That number is 317-480-1310.
- 22:32SPEAKER_1: Once again, 317-480-1310.
- 22:34SPEAKER_1: When we come back,
- 22:35SPEAKER_1: we are going to dive into what's going on with Healthy Indiana Plan
- 22:40SPEAKER_1: and what do you need to know and how can you prepare?
- 22:44SPEAKER_1: Because that's going to be the most important part.
- 22:46SPEAKER_1: You need to start preparing now.
- 22:48SPEAKER_1: We're going to talk about that when we return.
- 22:51SPEAKER_1: Once again, let's go to our commercial break and we'll catch you on the other side.
- 22:54SPEAKER_1: You're listening to the Concerned Clergy Radio Show
- 22:57SPEAKER_1: on Praise AM 1310 95.1 FM, Indy's Inspiration Station.
- 23:05SPEAKER_1: Welcome back to the Concerned Clergy Radio Show.
- 23:08SPEAKER_1: We've been talking about voting and we're getting ready to transition
- 23:13SPEAKER_1: and we're going to talk about what's going on with a healthy Indiana plan.
- 23:18SPEAKER_1: Well, there's going to be changes.
- 23:19SPEAKER_1: You need to be aware of The changes begin January 1 of 2027.
- 23:26SPEAKER_1: However,
- 23:27SPEAKER_1: you need to be preparing now because when January 1 comes,
- 23:33SPEAKER_1: they're going to be asking you for documentation for the last quarter of this year.
- 23:38SPEAKER_1: So you need to start saving those receipts.
- 23:41SPEAKER_1: You need to start documenting your volunteer hours.
- 23:46SPEAKER_1: You need to start documenting and making sure you keeping track of your work hours.
- 23:52SPEAKER_1: And then you're going to need to do that in a way that it conforms with the new regulations.
- 23:58SPEAKER_1: Mr. President, they're making changes now.
- 24:02SPEAKER_1: It's going to affect a lot of people.
- 24:07SPEAKER_1: You're on mute, Mr. President.
- 24:13SPEAKER_2: Sorry about that.
- 24:15SPEAKER_2: Yeah, it's going to impact a number of people.
- 24:17SPEAKER_2: Obviously, they want a recent article, 58,000.
- 24:21SPEAKER_2: That is the number that they threw out.
- 24:24SPEAKER_2: So we need to be aware of that, those changes that are going to take place.
- 24:30SPEAKER_2: And remember that the goal of this is, again, to reduce funding.
- 24:35SPEAKER_2: It's part of the Project 2025 playbook.
- 24:40SPEAKER_2: It's to get, you know, reduce the number.
- 24:43SPEAKER_2: So they're going to reduce the number.
- 24:45SPEAKER_2: And I want to encourage anybody that are your caregiver,
- 24:50SPEAKER_2: somebody who's on Medicaid,
- 24:51SPEAKER_2: you want them to keep their Medicaid and not get kicked off and try to get back home
- 24:55SPEAKER_2: because that's going to be a lengthy and a difficult process.
- 24:58SPEAKER_2: Because remember,
- 24:59SPEAKER_2: the whole goal is to reduce the number of people on Medicaid,
- 25:03SPEAKER_2: therefore reduce the budget for it.
- 25:05SPEAKER_2: Very similar to what happened with CCDF when they took the child care vouchers away.
- 25:11SPEAKER_2: Okay, well, they wouldn't add any new child care vouchers, so they were saving money.
- 25:17SPEAKER_2: This is the same principle, except it's around Medicaid.
- 25:23SPEAKER_2: And so these new things are in place.
- 25:24SPEAKER_2: I encourage people to pay attention to the paperwork coming in from FSSA
- 25:30SPEAKER_2: and make sure,
- 25:31SPEAKER_2: you know,
- 25:32SPEAKER_2: if this is your time that you have to go back and recertify,
- 25:38SPEAKER_2: pay attention to that because this is probably going to be in that document.
- 25:42SPEAKER_2: This month, next month, that will be in the document.
- 25:46SPEAKER_2: And you need to pay attention to what it says and what's going to be required.
- 25:49SPEAKER_2: Are there waiver options?
- 25:51SPEAKER_2: Yeah, but you better know what they are and what paperwork is required for that.
- 25:55SPEAKER_2: Even with this thing,
- 25:56SPEAKER_2: if you're able to recertify,
- 25:58SPEAKER_2: this recertification is going to take place every three months.
- 26:01SPEAKER_2: So every three months, you got to go and make sure you're tracking this data.
- 26:06SPEAKER_2: And then I will say this to you, that keep copies of all this paperwork.
- 26:11SPEAKER_2: Because something could get lost.
- 26:13SPEAKER_2: I mean, in the midst of trying to do all this,
- 26:16SPEAKER_2: FSSA is not fully staffed, so something could get lost.
- 26:20SPEAKER_2: But if you can't produce it, they're going to win.
- 26:24SPEAKER_2: Now, you can be mad about it,
- 26:25SPEAKER_2: but Reverend Alexander,
- 26:27SPEAKER_2: they're going to win if they say, well, we didn't get this document.
- 26:30SPEAKER_2: So you need to keep that document.
- 26:33SPEAKER_2: And for a period of time to make sure that you can stay connected to your Medicaid
- 26:39SPEAKER_2: and receive your benefits.
- 26:41SPEAKER_2: Because the goal is to reduce that number.
- 26:44SPEAKER_2: Even the governor has come out and said, we're going to reduce the number of people on Medicaid.
- 26:48SPEAKER_2: That is the goal.
- 26:49SPEAKER_2: That is what they're going to do.
- 26:51SPEAKER_2: And so everybody ain't going to be there.
- 26:54SPEAKER_2: And so if you don't want to hand them the ammunition by not doing dot every I,
- 27:00SPEAKER_2: cross every T,
- 27:02SPEAKER_2: For these various options,
- 27:04SPEAKER_2: and if you're going to be exempt,
- 27:06SPEAKER_2: make sure you're completing all the paperwork and doing it at the right time,
- 27:11SPEAKER_2: make sure it's getting to the right place,
- 27:13SPEAKER_2: et cetera,
- 27:14SPEAKER_2: because all that's going to be a part of this process,
- 27:16SPEAKER_2: and I apologize for putting it up on Facebook page so people can see.
- 27:21SPEAKER_2: We did send out this document to a number of people earlier,
- 27:26SPEAKER_2: and if somebody needs a copy of it,
- 27:28SPEAKER_2: if you can just put your email address in the In the Facebook chat,
- 27:33SPEAKER_2: we'll make sure we send it out to you.
- 27:35SPEAKER_2: We want everybody to have it.
- 27:36SPEAKER_2: You need to be able to share it.
- 27:38SPEAKER_2: If you've got a caregiver on Medicaid, make sure they know about this because this is real.
- 27:44SPEAKER_2: We're not fear-mongering.
- 27:47SPEAKER_2: We just want you to know what's happening and be prepared as they're going to cut the benefits.
- 27:54SPEAKER_1: It's starting now.
- 27:57SPEAKER_1: You may say, well, I had until January 1 to get ready to conform.
- 28:03SPEAKER_1: You need to start now.
- 28:06SPEAKER_1: You need to get into the habit of saving those documents.
- 28:09SPEAKER_1: And Mr. President, I'm going to say something else in addition to that.
- 28:14SPEAKER_1: Because you can't depend on the U.S. Post Office.
- 28:17SPEAKER_1: You can't depend your documents going to get there.
- 28:19SPEAKER_1: You can't depend that you're going to be able just to walk in,
- 28:23SPEAKER_1: you know,
- 28:23SPEAKER_1: without an appointment because just like what happened with Social Security,
- 28:27SPEAKER_1: when they made changes there, they were too overwhelmed.
- 28:30SPEAKER_1: People couldn't get serviced.
- 28:32SPEAKER_1: That could very possibly happen.
- 28:34SPEAKER_1: So here's what I'm going to recommend.
- 28:36SPEAKER_1: I'm going to recommend that you get used to the website because the website is going
- 28:41SPEAKER_1: to be set up.
- 28:41SPEAKER_1: The FSSA website will be set up so you can upload your documents.
- 28:46SPEAKER_1: You can upload them, take a photo, throw them in there, and you know they're there.
- 28:51SPEAKER_1: So if you happen to have any doubts, every time you go into your account, you'll see them there.
- 28:58SPEAKER_1: Let's go ahead.
- 28:59SPEAKER_1: I think Joyce is back.
- 29:00SPEAKER_1: Let's go ahead and bring her in real quick.
- 29:04SPEAKER_3: Yeah, thanks for taking my call.
- 29:07SPEAKER_3: What you just mentioned about how you can go on the website.
- 29:11SPEAKER_3: Well, I was born in the 50s,
- 29:12SPEAKER_3: so that don't really,
- 29:14SPEAKER_3: I got to get my grandkids,
- 29:17SPEAKER_3: my children and all of them to, this ain't, I need human interaction.
- 29:24SPEAKER_3: How about that?
- 29:25SPEAKER_3: What's wrong with that premise?
- 29:27SPEAKER_3: Because I get robocalls on a continuum.
- 29:32SPEAKER_3: About Medicare.
- 29:34SPEAKER_3: Oh, that's spooky.
- 29:37SPEAKER_3: And so many other practices are spooky.
- 29:41SPEAKER_3: But, you know, it don't affect nobody until your fat's on the fire, is my opinion.
- 29:50SPEAKER_3: But, you know, is my phone breaking up?
- 29:54SPEAKER_1: It is a little bit.
- 29:55SPEAKER_1: Yeah, it really is.
- 29:57SPEAKER_1: But, but.
- 29:58SPEAKER_3: Yeah, well, y'all get the gist of it.
- 30:00SPEAKER_3: Yes.
- 30:01SPEAKER_3: Because y'all.
- 30:03SPEAKER_3: I retired from the government, and that was in 2017.
- 30:08SPEAKER_3: Then COVID struck.
- 30:10SPEAKER_3: And then you get with who?
- 30:13SPEAKER_3: Who?
- 30:14SPEAKER_3: World Health Order, where they had already decided that they need to eliminate the population.
- 30:22SPEAKER_1: All right.
- 30:23SPEAKER_1: Well, thank you so much for your phone call.
- 30:24SPEAKER_1: Now, Joyce did say something again there that I think is kind of...
- 30:30SPEAKER_1: It's kind of key in understanding who this is affecting and then how to best service them.
- 30:36SPEAKER_1: So we have an option.
- 30:37SPEAKER_1: We have an option, you know, okay, I'm going to try to either mail it in, go in.
- 30:42SPEAKER_1: But Joyce mentioned something that's very true.
- 30:44SPEAKER_1: There are a lot of,
- 30:45SPEAKER_1: you know,
- 30:46SPEAKER_1: folks that are not savvy,
- 30:48SPEAKER_1: you know, when it comes to working with, whether it be computers or any of that.
- 30:52SPEAKER_1: But she said get, you know, she may have to get one of her grandkids.
- 30:56SPEAKER_1: And that's something you may just have to do.
- 30:58SPEAKER_1: You may have to maybe get a church member,
- 31:03SPEAKER_1: you know, son,
- 31:04SPEAKER_1: daughter,
- 31:05SPEAKER_1: grandson,
- 31:06SPEAKER_1: granddaughter,
- 31:07SPEAKER_1: but have somebody that can at least,
- 31:10SPEAKER_1: you know,
- 31:10SPEAKER_1: that's trustworthy,
- 31:11SPEAKER_1: that can help at least get you, in most cases, it'll take 15, 20 minutes.
- 31:16SPEAKER_1: You can do it from your couch.
- 31:18SPEAKER_1: Get those documents uploaded.
- 31:20SPEAKER_1: And that's better to find an individual person.
- 31:25SPEAKER_1: Then going through the hassle that a lot of folks may experience coming up.
- 31:31SPEAKER_2: Yeah, I mean,
- 31:32SPEAKER_2: I certainly hear the frustration and know the frustration that will be with
- 31:37SPEAKER_2: the top end of this in terms of the age group that will be nearly as computer savvy.
- 31:43SPEAKER_2: And that's why I think it's important that all of us are aware of this.
- 31:49SPEAKER_2: Those that are in caregiving mode,
- 31:52SPEAKER_2: we have to understand this and help that person get through this.
- 31:55SPEAKER_2: Because remember now, this ain't a one-time event.
- 31:59SPEAKER_2: You got to be doing this every three months.
- 32:02SPEAKER_2: That's the part of the chain.
- 32:03SPEAKER_1: This is the new norm, Mr. President.
- 32:05SPEAKER_2: You can make it in January and make it in April and then lose it in October or September.
- 32:12SPEAKER_2: And so you don't want that to happen.
- 32:14SPEAKER_2: So we need that person who...
- 32:17SPEAKER_2: Loves Grandma, whoever they're caregiving for.
- 32:20SPEAKER_2: Says, I'm going to put it on their calendar.
- 32:23SPEAKER_2: They got something that's going to remind them to get this done.
- 32:27SPEAKER_2: Because you don't want to get kicked off over technicality.
- 32:30SPEAKER_2: Well, you was one day late.
- 32:32SPEAKER_2: And you put it in the mail, but it came a day late.
- 32:35SPEAKER_2: You don't want any of that stuff.
- 32:38SPEAKER_2: And I understand that you will need people...
- 32:42SPEAKER_2: Some people will need people to assist them in that process to make sure because
- 32:47SPEAKER_2: the whole thing is it's mean spirited.
- 32:50SPEAKER_2: It's really designed for you to mess up, get cut off, jump in the process.
- 32:56SPEAKER_2: They're going to tell you, well, you know, you can sign up again.
- 32:59SPEAKER_2: OK, you can sign up again, fill out the applications, all this stuff.
- 33:03SPEAKER_2: But they tell you how long it's going to take for you to get back in.
- 33:07SPEAKER_2: Right.
- 33:08SPEAKER_2: And so what if it's six months or nine months?
- 33:11SPEAKER_2: Well, what are you doing for your health care over the six to nine months?
- 33:15SPEAKER_2: Because,
- 33:15SPEAKER_2: you know,
- 33:16SPEAKER_2: you don't get to say,
- 33:16SPEAKER_2: well, you know, I can't take my blood pressure medicine or I can't afford it.
- 33:22SPEAKER_2: You don't want them in that boat.
- 33:23SPEAKER_2: I mean, this stuff that we're doing with this right here,
- 33:27SPEAKER_2: with the intent of kicking people off,
- 33:32SPEAKER_2: people literally are going to die over this, Reverend.
- 33:34SPEAKER_2: Alexander.
- 33:35SPEAKER_2: And that's what we need to understand.
- 33:37SPEAKER_2: Because somebody...
- 33:38SPEAKER_2: If they get kicked off, they don't make enough money to pay for this medicine.
- 33:43SPEAKER_1: Absolutely.
- 33:45SPEAKER_2: And they're going to go to the doctor with some issues because you can't afford that
- 33:50SPEAKER_2: on just go pay for that.
- 33:53SPEAKER_2: I mean, to be eligible for Medicaid requires I got only a certain level of income.
- 33:58SPEAKER_2: So you know you can't pick up health care with no insurance, basically.
- 34:05SPEAKER_1: You said a mouthful.
- 34:06SPEAKER_1: You said a mouthful.
- 34:08SPEAKER_1: And one thing that they have said, FSSA has
- 34:13SPEAKER_1: said that the exemptions are not even clear.
- 34:16SPEAKER_1: They still need clarity on what those exemptions are.
- 34:20SPEAKER_1: So they're telling you we're rolling something out and we don't even have all the details yet.
- 34:27SPEAKER_1: That right there is scary, but that's what they're doing.
- 34:31SPEAKER_1: Hey, we got to go to our last break.
- 34:32SPEAKER_1: When we come back, we'll go back to the phone lines.
- 34:35SPEAKER_1: We got Imhotep that's holding.
- 34:37SPEAKER_1: So Imhotep, just hang in there.
- 34:38SPEAKER_1: We'll go to our commercial break and we'll catch you on the other side.
- 34:41SPEAKER_1: You're listening to the Concerned Clergy Radio Show on Praise AM 1310,
- 34:45SPEAKER_1: 95.1 FM, Indy's Inspiration Station.
- 34:52SPEAKER_1: Welcome back to the show.
- 34:54SPEAKER_1: We're talking about HIP changes,
- 34:57SPEAKER_1: healthy Indiana plan changes that's going to be affecting those that are
- 35:00SPEAKER_1: on Medicaid.
- 35:02SPEAKER_1: If you'd like to be part of the conversation, you can call into the radio station.
- 35:05SPEAKER_1: The number is 317-480-1310.
- 35:08SPEAKER_1: Before we get to our caller, I want to comment here.
- 35:11SPEAKER_1: Denise put in the chat, Mr.
- 35:13SPEAKER_1: President,
- 35:14SPEAKER_1: that it's unethical,
- 35:15SPEAKER_1: especially now you got a lot of baby boomers that are getting ready to get into
- 35:18SPEAKER_1: the nursing home system.
- 35:20SPEAKER_1: You have a lot of people that are going to be affected.
- 35:23SPEAKER_1: And while you can get a lawyer for about $400,
- 35:26SPEAKER_1: we're trying to help you where you don't have to do that because a lot
- 35:30SPEAKER_1: of folks don't have that.
- 35:31SPEAKER_1: But I take Denise's point there that you got a lot of folks that...
- 35:37SPEAKER_1: Are at the age right now where they're struggling and,
- 35:41SPEAKER_1: you know,
- 35:42SPEAKER_1: having more benefits taken away,
- 35:44SPEAKER_1: definitely is it going to contribute to their being healthy?
- 35:48SPEAKER_1: And you said it before our break.
- 35:50SPEAKER_1: You said people are going to die.
- 35:53SPEAKER_1: Let's go ahead and bring in our caller.
- 35:54SPEAKER_1: We've got Imhotep on the line.
- 35:59SPEAKER_4: Good evening, gentlemen.
- 36:00SPEAKER_4: Good evening.
- 36:01SPEAKER_4: Thank you for taking my call.
- 36:02SPEAKER_4: That subject is near and dear to my heart, being a For your health care professional, it is.
- 36:09SPEAKER_4: Before I just elaborate real quick, I know your time is short.
- 36:12SPEAKER_4: I've been battling the last week and a half,
- 36:16SPEAKER_4: two weeks,
- 36:17SPEAKER_4: either personally,
- 36:19SPEAKER_4: the people,
- 36:19SPEAKER_4: young people I've talked to personally said they have or voted early or are going
- 36:23SPEAKER_4: to vote.
- 36:24SPEAKER_4: But yet online,
- 36:25SPEAKER_4: I have been battling with some whose vote doesn't matter and some people who's
- 36:30SPEAKER_4: in our age bracket.
- 36:31SPEAKER_4: You know, I'm 60, so I'm late 50s and others that vote don't matter now.
- 36:36SPEAKER_4: I understand Citizens United get big money,
- 36:39SPEAKER_4: get the influence,
- 36:40SPEAKER_4: but I had to break them down to the smallest common denominator,
- 36:43SPEAKER_4: least common denominator.
- 36:44SPEAKER_4: Your mayor, your mayor produces your police, your prosecutor.
- 36:49SPEAKER_4: You can see the ad that Ryan Mears is running.
- 36:52SPEAKER_4: Your school board, we just talked about that ad you ran.
- 36:55SPEAKER_4: Your treasurer, your assessor, your city council.
- 36:58SPEAKER_4: You have,
- 36:58SPEAKER_4: you know,
- 36:59SPEAKER_4: it's like,
- 37:00SPEAKER_4: it's like,
- 37:00SPEAKER_4: I don't want to,
- 37:01SPEAKER_4: I don't believe in saying dumb things down,
- 37:03SPEAKER_4: because like in health care,
- 37:04SPEAKER_4: when we give instructions to people,
- 37:06SPEAKER_4: or like when I first used to start drawing blood on a lot of people,
- 37:08SPEAKER_4: and I would explain stuff to them, you just meet people where they are.
- 37:12SPEAKER_4: And so I think if I can communicate to the politicians or anybody,
- 37:17SPEAKER_4: they just need to start meeting people where they are,
- 37:19SPEAKER_4: and then they can understand the importance of voting.
- 37:22SPEAKER_4: The health care issue has just been detrimental since Trump's got in.
- 37:26SPEAKER_4: And the genesis of these cuts go back to that big, ugly bill.
- 37:31SPEAKER_4: The big, beautiful, the big, ugly bill.
- 37:33SPEAKER_4: We're seeing so many cuts in health care.
- 37:35SPEAKER_4: It's ridiculous.
- 37:36SPEAKER_4: Friends of mine that work in surgery in various hospitals around
- 37:40SPEAKER_4: the city are seeing major, major slowdowns.
- 37:43SPEAKER_4: People, if you think hospitals make money on inpatients,
- 37:46SPEAKER_4: that's not where the bulk of the money comes in from hospitals.
- 37:48SPEAKER_4: It comes in from surgeries.
- 37:50SPEAKER_4: Surgeries bring in the most, especially ortho.
- 37:52SPEAKER_4: Ortho brings in the most.
- 37:54SPEAKER_4: Knees, hips, and all that are bringing a lot of money.
- 37:57SPEAKER_4: 80% of all revenue for IU is It comes through Medicare and Medicaid.
- 38:02SPEAKER_4: I think 90%, 85%, I think, for community systems.
- 38:06SPEAKER_4: St. Vincent, I think, is down some, down lower than theirs.
- 38:09SPEAKER_4: And we know Eskenazi's up there probably in the 90s or whatever.
- 38:13SPEAKER_4: These cuts have just been drastic.
- 38:15SPEAKER_4: I've known people being up, nurses have been getting sent home.
- 38:19SPEAKER_4: They're having to cut shifts.
- 38:20SPEAKER_4: They're going in and getting shifts because of the lack of either surgery.
- 38:23SPEAKER_4: They're putting them out.
- 38:24SPEAKER_4: ER has been told in various places.
- 38:27SPEAKER_4: Unless you have a heart attack, stroke,
- 38:29SPEAKER_4: Or you just have been a debilitating MVA,
- 38:31SPEAKER_4: motor vehicle accident, something like that.
- 38:33SPEAKER_4: You are getting going home.
- 38:35SPEAKER_4: Going to your point you just made talking about what the lady said about the nursing homes.
- 38:39SPEAKER_4: That has been an issue too.
- 38:40SPEAKER_4: A lot of people, you have a lot of substance abuse and people that are substance abuse disorder.
- 38:46SPEAKER_4: So they don't qualify for Medicaid waiver.
- 38:50SPEAKER_4: And they're too young for Medicare.
- 38:51SPEAKER_4: So a lot of nursing homes are just eating that cost.
- 38:54SPEAKER_4: And so then...
- 38:55SPEAKER_4: The truth of the matter is we really don't know how many people that died because
- 38:59SPEAKER_4: of red and green.
- 39:00SPEAKER_4: You're right.
- 39:00SPEAKER_4: More people are going to die.
- 39:02SPEAKER_4: And to a certain extent, Joyce is right.
- 39:04SPEAKER_4: It's not so much who, Joyce, because that's an international organization.
- 39:09SPEAKER_4: You can just look at the American system itself that don't want to take care of people.
- 39:16SPEAKER_4: But for the most part, we don't know how many people we lost from COVID-19.
- 39:19SPEAKER_4: But the nursing homes still haven't recovered from that.
- 39:22SPEAKER_1: Exactly.
- 39:22SPEAKER_4: So the fact remains that you still have those people that may be in that 70
- 39:28SPEAKER_4: to 85 range that may have to go to a nurse of long-term care, something like that.
- 39:33SPEAKER_4: It's going to be a real big issue.
- 39:35SPEAKER_4: Buckle up, families, and probably get ready to do shifts to take care of your loved ones.
- 39:39SPEAKER_4: They call us the sandwich generation for a reason.
- 39:42SPEAKER_4: Get ready to be sandwiched even more.
- 39:44SPEAKER_1: All right.
- 39:44SPEAKER_4: Thank you.
- 39:46SPEAKER_1: I've laughed a lot there, Mr. President.
- 39:51SPEAKER_1: You got any comments?
- 39:52SPEAKER_2: Well, I mean,
- 39:53SPEAKER_2: he just spoke a lot of truth of where we really are and the choices and decisions
- 39:59SPEAKER_2: that will have to be made.
- 40:01SPEAKER_2: I mean, it is the things about hospitals and what they're doing.
- 40:05SPEAKER_2: You know, I've I know people work in the field, so that's true.
- 40:10SPEAKER_2: That stuff is occurring as well.
- 40:13SPEAKER_2: So it's just a challenge right now.
- 40:15SPEAKER_2: And you said buckle up.
- 40:18SPEAKER_2: And this is a piece of buckling up.
- 40:20SPEAKER_2: This piece right here that we're talking about Medicaid, that's buckle up stuff.
- 40:23SPEAKER_2: That's, you know, you got somebody you care about, you need to follow up with them.
- 40:29SPEAKER_2: You need to share this information we're sharing tonight.
- 40:33SPEAKER_1: Let's talk about that even a little bit more.
- 40:36SPEAKER_1: So I've got it once again up on our Facebook page.
- 40:39SPEAKER_1: It looks very plain.
- 40:41SPEAKER_1: They've got one,
- 40:42SPEAKER_1: you know,
- 40:42SPEAKER_1: you'll see a lot of cases,
- 40:43SPEAKER_1: just a little plain white envelope with a plain white sheet there with FSSA written
- 40:50SPEAKER_1: in it and just there on the top of the page.
- 40:54SPEAKER_1: Then they go into, you know, sharing that you will need once again.
- 40:59SPEAKER_1: I'm not sure if we really highlighted this, but 80 hours of documentation on work, volunteer.
- 41:07SPEAKER_1: Let's go ahead and talk about that as a matter of fact.
- 41:09SPEAKER_1: Okay, so 80 hours each month,
- 41:13SPEAKER_1: one or more,
- 41:14SPEAKER_1: so you can have combined on the activities,
- 41:17SPEAKER_1: working at a job,
- 41:19SPEAKER_1: community service or volunteering,
- 41:22SPEAKER_1: college or job training, and internship or work program.
- 41:28SPEAKER_1: Now, in addition to that, it's not as simple as saying I'm in a work program.
- 41:34SPEAKER_1: Um, because they also say that you need to work and earn at least $580 in a month.
- 41:41SPEAKER_1: So they are even saying how much money they got a minimum wage,
- 41:47SPEAKER_1: if you will, on your, before you can, on your benefits here.
- 41:50SPEAKER_1: So $580 a month is what they're saying, um, that you have to make.
- 41:57SPEAKER_1: So, Mr. President, there's a lot, you know, once again, that folks need to be preparing for.
- 42:02SPEAKER_1: And once again, they need to start that right now.
- 42:06SPEAKER_2: They need to start that because that's going to be part of if you're already
- 42:10SPEAKER_2: on Medicaid, that's going to be part of your recertification process.
- 42:14SPEAKER_2: That person is going to ask you.
- 42:17SPEAKER_2: Do you have documents that can support?
- 42:19SPEAKER_2: That's why you got to hold on to pay stubs and that type of paperwork.
- 42:22SPEAKER_2: Don't just throw that stuff away because they're going to ask you for that and say,
- 42:27SPEAKER_2: have you been working this past month?
- 42:30SPEAKER_2: Where is it at?
- 42:31SPEAKER_2: Do you have a check stub to prove it so you can get the show, quote unquote, that $580?
- 42:36SPEAKER_2: Now, I find it ironic in the day and age of AI,
- 42:40SPEAKER_2: et cetera,
- 42:42SPEAKER_2: where unemployment is up,
- 42:44SPEAKER_2: and especially for black people, Then you're going to say, now you got to make $580.
- 42:50SPEAKER_2: AI took a lot of jobs.
- 42:51SPEAKER_2: You go into restaurants.
- 42:53SPEAKER_2: Now, hey, you go over to this kiosk where you was talking to a person.
- 42:58SPEAKER_2: Go to the kiosk over here and you put in everything and you pay there.
- 43:03SPEAKER_2: And this used to be somebody's job.
- 43:06SPEAKER_2: And they don't have those jobs.
- 43:08SPEAKER_1: Like a human, like Joyce says she
- 43:10SPEAKER_2: wanted.
- 43:11SPEAKER_2: Exactly.
- 43:12SPEAKER_2: She wants a human.
- 43:12SPEAKER_2: She wants to talk to a human.
- 43:14SPEAKER_2: In a lot of cases, they're trying to guide you through a phone system, talking to AI.
- 43:21SPEAKER_2: Those humans, there's fewer of those jobs that you want these people to go get.
- 43:28SPEAKER_2: And so on one side,
- 43:29SPEAKER_2: we're squeezing the job market because we're using technology to do this stuff.
- 43:34SPEAKER_2: But on this other side over here,
- 43:35SPEAKER_2: we're mandating now, we need you people to go get and make $580 a month.
- 43:44SPEAKER_2: In revenue?
- 43:45SPEAKER_2: Yeah, I don't even know, is it feasibly possible?
- 43:48SPEAKER_2: I mean, that's why they know we're going to reduce the numbers.
- 43:52SPEAKER_2: Because 58,000 people probably can't go get this job
- 43:55SPEAKER_2: that already didn't have one based on the unemployment of Indiana.
- 44:00SPEAKER_2: I'd have to do some research to say that, definitely.
- 44:04SPEAKER_2: But I guarantee you, most likely that's impossible to happen.
- 44:09SPEAKER_2: You're talking about somebody who's on Medicaid.
- 44:11SPEAKER_2: So they have a disability, something going on anyway.
- 44:14SPEAKER_2: So they're not able to go work, quote unquote, in Amazon and move a bunch of boxes, most likely.
- 44:20SPEAKER_2: There's going to be a number of people that can't do that type of work.
- 44:23SPEAKER_2: So how many of those jobs that they could do are available?
- 44:30SPEAKER_1: Well, and even...
- 44:34SPEAKER_1: I mean, because we've talked about the unemployment, you know, piece, of course.
- 44:38SPEAKER_1: But what you just said hadn't even been thought about.
- 44:42SPEAKER_1: I mean, just this week we had Microsoft saying, hey, we want to buy you out 60,000 employees.
- 44:51SPEAKER_1: OK, they're saying right now.
- 44:53SPEAKER_1: So we're going to have to go in the job market and we got to compete with
- 44:57SPEAKER_1: the 60,000 Microsoft employees.
- 45:00SPEAKER_1: Guess who else is laying laid off over the last six months or so?
- 45:03SPEAKER_1: UPS.
- 45:04SPEAKER_1: You know, you got a lot of folks that had careers at UPS.
- 45:08SPEAKER_1: You know, they're out there looking for work.
- 45:10SPEAKER_1: I mean, Apple.
- 45:11SPEAKER_1: I mean, we can just keep going on and on.
- 45:14SPEAKER_1: You know,
- 45:14SPEAKER_1: people with,
- 45:15SPEAKER_1: quote unquote, educations, educations and degrees are out there looking for work.
- 45:20SPEAKER_1: They're saying they can't find.
- 45:23SPEAKER_2: Exactly.
- 45:25SPEAKER_2: If you get past and start thinking about them approaching in a silo,
- 45:31SPEAKER_2: but think about, where are these people going to get these jobs at?
- 45:35SPEAKER_2: In the system, we're trying to eliminate those jobs.
- 45:38SPEAKER_2: The system is saying,
- 45:40SPEAKER_2: is there a way we can do this through AI, through technology, and reduce this job?
- 45:45SPEAKER_2: And we're seeing it.
- 45:47SPEAKER_2: You're going to have to pay to have a human.
- 45:51SPEAKER_2: It's going to cost you more to have a human, basically is what we're coming to.
- 45:54SPEAKER_2: If you want a human, that's going to cost you more money.
- 45:58SPEAKER_2: Everything else is going to get reduced down.
- 46:03SPEAKER_2: Where do people who have some limited,
- 46:05SPEAKER_2: potential limited skills due to disability, etc., where do they go get their job?
- 46:12SPEAKER_2: Where's this job at that they're going to get paid $580?
- 46:14SPEAKER_2: Where are they going to make that money?
- 46:18SPEAKER_2: Where's that job at is my question.
- 46:21SPEAKER_2: And how many of those jobs exist for people to go and get?
- 46:25SPEAKER_2: Because I don't think there's that many of those jobs available.
- 46:29SPEAKER_2: And if they are available,
- 46:31SPEAKER_2: I don't know a year from now they'd be available because technology is
- 46:34SPEAKER_2: over here saying, how do we do without you?
- 46:39SPEAKER_2: How do we do this?
- 46:41SPEAKER_2: I was talking to a gentleman.
- 46:42SPEAKER_2: Earlier today, he called for a mechanic.
- 46:47SPEAKER_2: A lot of times these shops have an advisor for them.
- 46:50SPEAKER_2: This time he had an AI advisor.
- 46:53SPEAKER_2: Wow.
- 46:54SPEAKER_2: Wow.
- 46:57SPEAKER_2: Wow.
- 46:57SPEAKER_2: AI advisor even had a name.
- 46:59SPEAKER_2: I think it was Adam or something.
- 47:02SPEAKER_2: We're trying to make it more difficult.
- 47:05SPEAKER_2: For somebody to talk to a human, going back to Joyce this morning, it's design.
- 47:10SPEAKER_2: Well, we're trying to get you used to a computer,
- 47:14SPEAKER_2: used to doing it a certain way that does not have the human touch.
- 47:18SPEAKER_2: And if you're going to get to a human,
- 47:20SPEAKER_2: I guarantee you across the board,
- 47:23SPEAKER_2: it's going to be something that's going to cost you more money.
- 47:27SPEAKER_2: That's where we're going in the world today.
- 47:29SPEAKER_2: It's like, okay, you might can get to a human.
- 47:32SPEAKER_2: But, you know, hey,
- 47:33SPEAKER_2: the restaurant with a human is a lot more expensive than the one with the kiosk
- 47:37SPEAKER_2: over here.
- 47:39SPEAKER_2: Now, you can pick and choose, but you know that's going to be one of the differences over here.
- 47:46SPEAKER_2: And it wouldn't surprise me they don't stick the kiosk in you and you walk into
- 47:50SPEAKER_2: a walk-in restaurant and still say, hey, here's this kiosk.
- 47:54SPEAKER_2: Go for what you know.
- 47:56SPEAKER_2: You know, so...
- 48:00SPEAKER_2: I just think it's challenging.
- 48:02SPEAKER_2: It'll be challenging for everybody to even meet the work requirements on just having employment.
- 48:09SPEAKER_2: Now, that volunteer stuff will be key and things maybe that can be done in that area.
- 48:15SPEAKER_2: But this is not a simple task right here.
- 48:22SPEAKER_1: Well, I want to also tell them, Mr. President, as we only have a couple of minutes here.
- 48:27SPEAKER_1: So it says right there in the notice that's going out to folks,
- 48:30SPEAKER_1: it says if your renewal is a certain date, they give an example.
- 48:36SPEAKER_1: You know,
- 48:36SPEAKER_1: for instance,
- 48:37SPEAKER_1: if your renewal is May of 2027,
- 48:40SPEAKER_1: then you have to show for the previous three months that you met this requirement.
- 48:47SPEAKER_1: Okay, it's not where my renewal is going to be in May and I start to clock
- 48:53SPEAKER_1: on gathering information.
- 48:55SPEAKER_1: No.
- 48:56SPEAKER_1: That's why if your renewal is in January,
- 49:00SPEAKER_1: you need to start making sure you're getting that information now.
- 49:04SPEAKER_1: Don't lose it.
- 49:06SPEAKER_1: Once again, find someone to help you load it up so you know it's there.
- 49:11SPEAKER_1: One of the things I'll say before we close, Mr.
- 49:13SPEAKER_1: President,
- 49:13SPEAKER_1: is one of the things,
- 49:15SPEAKER_1: you know,
- 49:17SPEAKER_1: When I'm operating online accounts and everything,
- 49:20SPEAKER_1: when I call customer service,
- 49:22SPEAKER_1: whatever, I'm already looking at it because they really just seeing what I'm seeing.
- 49:26SPEAKER_1: So I'm making sure that, hey, pretty much what I see is what you should see.
- 49:30SPEAKER_1: And if I got an issue, you don't tell me how to navigate.
- 49:33SPEAKER_1: But for the most part,
- 49:35SPEAKER_1: we're just looking at the same thing, just on a different side of the glass.
- 49:39SPEAKER_1: Yep.
- 49:40SPEAKER_1: So.
- 49:41SPEAKER_1: I'm kind of done there, Mr. President.
- 49:43SPEAKER_1: You got any closing remarks in regards to,
- 49:46SPEAKER_1: hey, we're coming into the last, the stretch, if you will, for voting?
- 49:51SPEAKER_2: Yeah, go vote.
- 49:52SPEAKER_2: And secondly,
- 49:53SPEAKER_2: share this information about Medicaid with everybody you know,
- 49:59SPEAKER_2: because what you don't know can kill you.
- 50:02SPEAKER_2: And this is one of those things you need to be aware of.
- 50:05SPEAKER_2: You can't be, you know, in May arguing about it.
- 50:09SPEAKER_2: I didn't know.
- 50:12SPEAKER_2: And, you know, you got to get started now.
- 50:14SPEAKER_2: This is one of those things.
- 50:15SPEAKER_2: You get started now,
- 50:15SPEAKER_2: you better have a plan because they're looking to kick people off and you don't want
- 50:20SPEAKER_2: to get kicked off and try to get back home.
- 50:23SPEAKER_2: That's not what you want to do.
- 50:25SPEAKER_2: You want to be able to stay on and you need to be lining up with these requirements.
- 50:31SPEAKER_1: And we're going to bring this back to you.
- 50:33SPEAKER_1: We're just kind of introducing it tonight because we want to make sure folks know,
- 50:36SPEAKER_1: but we will certainly Be coming back to it and make sure
- 50:40SPEAKER_1: that Pastor Greenee said he's already shared the information.
- 50:44SPEAKER_1: We want you to do the same thing.
- 50:46SPEAKER_1: Share this information.
- 50:48SPEAKER_1: Let your loved ones know because it's a coming.
- 50:52SPEAKER_1: Mr. President, thanks for your time on tonight.
- 50:54SPEAKER_1: All you listening, listened and called in.
- 50:57SPEAKER_1: Appreciate all of you as well.
- 50:59SPEAKER_1: But that's the end of our show.
- 51:02SPEAKER_1: Be blessed.
