- 1:36[SPEAKER_01]: Coach, OTAs kicked off this week for the Miami Dolphin, her some good stuff from Jeff Hathley, seen a couple of plays, heard a couple of reports about Kyle Lewis, Caleb Douglas, and the Miami Dolphin's rookies along with some second year guys as well.
- 1:53[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I mean, at this time of year, we're all just kind of
- 1:58[SPEAKER_00]: You know football actually we can get any kind of news we can get out of the facility so it's nice to get a few of those clips that we've seen to be able to hear coach halfly and you know some of the players talk as well.
- 2:11[SPEAKER_00]: You know, but here today we are still trying to get through 13 draft picks and today show is going to be the past captures or at least three out of the four past captures they drafted.
- 2:26[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to talk about Caleb Douglass, Wilcass Merrick, and Chris Bell as well.
- 2:32[SPEAKER_00]: A lot of good talent that we have to talk about today and very interesting to see how they're going to work all of these guys and in the vision that they may have for them.
- 2:45[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I mean, let's go ahead and talk about the first right Caleb Douglass.
- 2:48[SPEAKER_01]: I think he was the most
- 2:50[SPEAKER_01]: talked about picked in the third round by Dolphins fans.
- 2:55[SPEAKER_01]: Didn't really expect him to get picked up in the third round.
- 2:59[SPEAKER_01]: The Dolphins did do did bring him in on a 30 visit.
- 3:05[SPEAKER_01]: almost six four he's really six three and seven eight's just a hair over two hundred pounds four point three nine forty right uh it's not often and you know the dolphins uh scout and director uh Matt Winston said that you know he brings a lot of size to the rope right
- 3:26[SPEAKER_01]: 6-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4
- 3:43[SPEAKER_01]: But in terms of production at Texas Tech, coach, six touchdowns in 2024, seven touchdowns in 2025, starter for all 13, 14 games for Texas Tech, never really eclipse a thousand yards.
- 4:00[SPEAKER_01]: But when you take a look at that Texas Tech tape, I know Anthony alluded to it in his film review,
- 4:10[SPEAKER_01]: not the best quarterback out there.
- 4:14[SPEAKER_00]: No, and like you said, this was one of the most talked about picks.
- 4:17[SPEAKER_00]: I hadn't even heard of Caleb Douglas on draft night, but obviously going back and looked at him since then, like you said with the help that he got from the quarterback situation there, there was a lot of opportunities that were left on the field a lot of times at Caleb Douglas was available in the ball just either was not, you know, either
- 4:40[SPEAKER_00]: very, very frustrating situation.
- 4:44[SPEAKER_00]: But I do think that kind of leans into one of the things that Epidol is Jeff Halfleer, I was John Erksullivan talking about Caleb Douglas and you know talking about how his best football is still ahead of him.
- 4:56[SPEAKER_00]: They know that this is not a finished product and when you're looking at what he did at Texas Tech I think if they're also trying to project in a sense if you put him in a situation
- 5:10[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 5:10[SPEAKER_00]: If he's able to get those the ball in those opportunities when they are, you know, when they're there, then you could see his production increase in the NFL as well.
- 5:21[SPEAKER_00]: I think he brings some unique things to the field that we don't get out of some of the other receivers on the roster as well.
- 5:28[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I mean, he uses his speed on those post routes.
- 5:33[SPEAKER_01]: He's able to hit the corner routes, the phase.
- 5:35[SPEAKER_01]: He's able to win vertically as well, straight line speed.
- 5:39[SPEAKER_01]: He's a good separator, has the feel for the zone, the spacing.
- 5:44[SPEAKER_01]: When we talk about route running, he has that patience and he's able to get that tempo.
- 5:50[SPEAKER_01]: Is it really able to vary up those routes?
- 5:53[SPEAKER_01]: And again, in the red zone, six, four, like just a hair under six, four.
- 5:59[SPEAKER_01]: He's a immediate match of problem up against defensive backs.
- 6:03[SPEAKER_01]: Seven of his touchdowns in 2025 came within the red zone area for Texas Tech.
- 6:09[SPEAKER_01]: And he opens the field up for Miami.
- 6:13[SPEAKER_01]: immediately think of like, I mean, a lot of people want to compare him to Christian, Austin, who's in Green Bay, but more so think about Caleb Douglass, like Marquez Valdez, scouting MVS, one he was with Aaron Rodgers, and Jordan Love, he was your big body guy that could win vertically when you needed a guy to get those rebounds off those defensive backs to really go up the ladder and grab it.
- 6:37[SPEAKER_01]: That was your guy, Caleb Douglass, is one of those people
- 6:41[SPEAKER_01]: And Marquez Valda Scattling was one of the guys that John Erick Sullivan and Green Bay scouted and brought to the Packers organization.
- 6:49[SPEAKER_01]: So there's a lot of similarities there.
- 6:52[SPEAKER_01]: When we talk about the similarities about the good film, we also got to talk about some of the concerns that we see on film, too, Coach.
- 7:02[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I think that, you know,
- 7:04[SPEAKER_00]: We talked about this production in college and you know, I don't think this is going to be a high volume type receiver in the NFL either I think that when you look at the role, you know, you talked about some of those guys in green Bay those vertical stretch the field type guys right they these are guys that you know run a lot of brother routes or you know for the love of the game type routes that type of thing where they're not expecting the ball, but they are stretching the defense are opening the you know opening the middle to field up for some of the guys that
- 7:34[SPEAKER_00]: We're going to talk about later tonight as well, but you know, when you talk about some of the weaknesses with him, he's got to be able to clean up his ability to get off of the line with press coverage, right?
- 7:46[SPEAKER_00]: Got to be able to get the hands off of him, got to be able to get cleaner releases.
- 7:50[SPEAKER_00]: The, you know, he has, you know, a strangely low vertical, I think it was like a 31-inch vertical,
- 8:02[SPEAKER_00]: athletic ability, right?
- 8:03[SPEAKER_00]: He showed plenty of explosion in other ways.
- 8:05[SPEAKER_00]: And it was just like this one thing was kind of weird and kind of, you know, something that's important for a wide receiver.
- 8:10[SPEAKER_00]: Now, I do think that you can still find mismatches with him against smaller receivers, right?
- 8:16[SPEAKER_00]: If you put a six foot forward receiver against a five foot 10 corner back, you don't have to jump real high to get the advantage of the jump balls there.
- 8:25[SPEAKER_00]: I think that you can, you know, use that link to, you know, back shoulder type throws, things like that.
- 8:32[SPEAKER_00]: just talking about him in general.
- 8:35[SPEAKER_00]: I don't see him evolving into that number one alpha receiver type player.
- 8:40[SPEAKER_00]: I think he's going to be a guy that is key to the offense, but not necessarily the Hades third down in six.
- 8:48[SPEAKER_00]: We got to get it and this is the guy we're going to go to.
- 8:51[SPEAKER_00]: That's that's not where I see him, but that doesn't mean he's not going to have value in the offense as well.
- 8:57[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and the thing is like that's not where a lot of evaluators saw him as, but John Eric Sullivan had the conviction, he went against the consensus board, he's justifying his traits, he checks off all the boxes, but just the production profile itself, I'll be it with the quarterback situation at Texas Tech.
- 9:18[SPEAKER_01]: It doesn't necessarily support pick number 75, I mean there were 12 other wide receivers,
- 9:26[SPEAKER_01]: who you could arguably say were more talented, had more production, didn't necessarily have the same questions as he did in beating press coverage.
- 9:41[SPEAKER_01]: he more so tries to run through defensive backs rather than be active and use his hands, the headfakes, the hip twitches, things like that.
- 9:52[SPEAKER_01]: He tries to use his speed as best as he can, but if you're jammed at the line and we saw it.
- 9:57[SPEAKER_01]: you know, with Tyrekill, with Jalen Water, and the Mike McDaniel, Miami Dolphins offense, but those weren't big guys, but even though Caleb Dougs is a big guy, you still see it up on tape, right?
- 10:08[SPEAKER_01]: You know, we understand John Erick's so have been drafted a vertical threat, contract the ball, has a size over the middle as well, but
- 10:16[SPEAKER_01]: if his speed is neutralized within the first step, and he doesn't have the strength and the hand technique to beat it, then that rep in the NFL.
- 10:27[SPEAKER_01]: He's losing nine times out of 10.
- 10:32[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and you're trying to, who was the Notre Dame wide receiver?
- 10:39[SPEAKER_00]: Another big guy was in this draft.
- 10:41[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if that feels.
- 10:42[SPEAKER_00]: Malica, I couldn't remember the last name.
- 10:43[SPEAKER_00]: Fields.
- 10:44[SPEAKER_00]: So there was a lot, I don't know about a lot, but there seemed at least be some rumblings of dolphins like fields a lot and fields in it up going, I believe, ahead of the Caleb Douglas pick, and it makes you wonder whether
- 10:59[SPEAKER_00]: you know, drafting Jacob Rodriguez at 43 cost him a guy that they they really wanted in Malachi fields and they settled for Caleb Douglas.
- 11:08[SPEAKER_00]: So I think that going forward, you know, that's going to be a comparison at least I'm going to kind of look out there.
- 11:14[SPEAKER_00]: But I do think that, you know, we talk about the consensus value and how he wasn't viewed that high by a lot of the the draft experts.
- 11:22[SPEAKER_00]: You know, I think that it comes down to that specific
- 11:27[SPEAKER_00]: type of player right and we'll get into Chris Bell a little more later, but I think that with this pick, they were, you know, really chasing a specific player, yeah, specific archetype of player, they Caleb Douglas, you know, may not have been, you know, if you just rank the receivers one through 10 right and just.
- 11:49[SPEAKER_00]: Overall, maybe he wasn't the top guy available, but when you look at it and whether it was Bobby Slowick, Jeff Haffley, John Erick Sullivan, saying, we need this, you know, height weight, speed, vertical threat guy, and if we rearrange the rankings for that, the Caleb Douglas may have been the top guy on their board for that.
- 12:11[SPEAKER_00]: So, yeah, I think that it,
- 12:14[SPEAKER_00]: a bit of a risk right when you when you draft somebody that is lower on consensus boards, you know, if they if they pan out obviously nobody's going to question it right, but if we get three, four years down the road and Caleb Douglas is not producing for the Miami Dolphins then that's going to be kind of thing that comes back and they're like, you know, why why do we reach on this guy back in the 2020s draft when there were so many other
- 12:45[SPEAKER_00]: It could be a statement pick for John Eric Sullivan, right?
- 12:48[SPEAKER_00]: He's got that reputation of being able to scout wide receivers.
- 12:52[SPEAKER_00]: So if, you know, this is the first receiver that he has drafted for the Miami Dolphins, and he ends up panning out and proving everybody wrong, right?
- 13:00[SPEAKER_00]: That's a feather in his cap.
- 13:03[SPEAKER_00]: But if it goes the other way, then this is going to be one that I think people kind of refer back to and, you know, start asking what he was doing.
- 13:13[SPEAKER_01]: You know, when you take a look at this dolphin's wide receiver roster, they don't necessarily have a guy who's physically imposing physically dominant has that high weight speed combo.
- 13:22[SPEAKER_01]: So I, your assumption may be correct coach because, uh,
- 13:28[SPEAKER_01]: If Caleb Douglas has a strong training camp, I think he could push for that wide receiver too, wide receiver three spot considering he was the first wide receiver for the dolphins in this draft.
- 13:41[SPEAKER_01]: And if you think about it, every spot in this wide receiver room,
- 13:45[SPEAKER_01]: on this Dolphins roster is up for grabs.
- 13:49[SPEAKER_01]: He was taken before Chris Bell, taken before Kevin Coleman Jr., John Erick Sullivan sees him as the highest ceiling wide receiver in this draft class.
- 13:58[SPEAKER_01]: OK, you have Malik Wall at Washington who's going to compete.
- 14:02[SPEAKER_01]: Jalen Tolber, who is six foot, just a hair under six one and two two at will, who's five, five, nine, five, ten, just under a hundred and ninety pounds.
- 14:14[SPEAKER_01]: You need different type of wide receivers in that room.
- 14:17[SPEAKER_01]: For sure, you don't want to have the same thing that the Dolph is that under Michael McDaniel.
- 14:22[SPEAKER_01]: But let's talk about the fit, right?
- 14:24[SPEAKER_01]: With Bobby Slowie, you're going to have that vertical threat, that red zone target, that play action deep shot architecture.
- 14:30[SPEAKER_01]: And the play action game with Malik Willis requires
- 14:35[SPEAKER_01]: strong, fast, receiver who can win in the middle parts of the field and deep parts of the field, that holds the safety.
- 14:45[SPEAKER_01]: And with Caleb Douglas 4.339 speed, that creates that's vertical stretch where the safety's have to be a little bit deep to respect that speed.
- 14:58[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I think that when you talk about the way that
- 15:02[SPEAKER_00]: You know, this offense, we expected to be designed.
- 15:04[SPEAKER_00]: We expect to still have those outside zone aspects.
- 15:07[SPEAKER_00]: So I think that, you know, yes, he has to get better as a general state me who's got to get better dealing with press coverage, but at the same time.
- 15:17[SPEAKER_00]: part of running outside zone is that you make cornerbacks, make tackles, you make them get involved with the run game.
- 15:22[SPEAKER_00]: And when you have a guy that's a sub four, four, you know, six, four receiver, if that cornerback even peaks inside a little bit, thinking that he has to play the run, miss a guy that can get behind him, get deep.
- 15:34[SPEAKER_00]: This is a guy that, you know, we talk about those, those dig routes, those deep ends.
- 15:39[SPEAKER_00]: He can kind of,
- 15:41[SPEAKER_00]: You know, push those safety's back, open stuff up for guys underneath, you know, just in general, you know, when you add a guy that has this lightweight speed combo and has the the mental make up to be able to run those routes that you don't always get the football on right I think this is a guy that.
- 16:00[SPEAKER_00]: It's going to make big plays when you may not expect it.
- 16:05[SPEAKER_00]: Like I said, you go to that play action.
- 16:07[SPEAKER_00]: And next, you know, he's sprinting down the field, or, you know, he's opening stuff for other guys, right, we get him running a, I don't know, 12 yard dig and then we get Chris Bell coming underneath, right?
- 16:21[SPEAKER_00]: And that safety has to stay back and respect Caleb Douglas.
- 16:25[SPEAKER_00]: And now you have Chris Bell catching run after the,
- 16:30[SPEAKER_00]: Catch and run after catch, right?
- 16:32[SPEAKER_00]: Get the ball and go.
- 16:33[SPEAKER_01]: Um, kind of like I can't talk right now, but pretty much just the staple of this Chan and tree often.
- 16:38[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 16:38[SPEAKER_01]: Absolutely.
- 16:39[SPEAKER_01]: And definitely the coaching will be critical especially with the wider sea of coach, Tai ki tober.
- 16:44[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 16:44[SPEAKER_01]: One of the better wider sea of coaches in the league.
- 16:46[SPEAKER_01]: Caleb Douglas has the make up now.
- 16:49[SPEAKER_01]: Tai ki tober has to provide that polish.
- 16:52[SPEAKER_01]: And some of the receivers he's worked with that are a long Caleb Douglas's archetype is equanimous Saint Brown.
- 16:58[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 16:59[SPEAKER_01]: Dante Pettis.
- 17:00[SPEAKER_01]: He's worked with DJ Moore, who
- 17:02[SPEAKER_01]: was tied for second and the NFL in receptions of at least 25 yards, right?
- 17:07[SPEAKER_01]: He was in Tennessee with Calvin Ridley, who hauled in 64 catches for over a thousand yards and 16,
- 17:17[SPEAKER_01]: receiving arts per catch.
- 17:20[SPEAKER_01]: He ranked fifth in the NFL for that, and then with Tennessee, he had Alec Ayo Manor, who was a six-two coming out of Stanford, and Chimera Deek, who was a hair under six-two, six-one, another vertical threat, as well, with Tennessee.
- 17:36[SPEAKER_01]: So,
- 17:37[SPEAKER_01]: a little bit of archetype of true ex-wider series if you take it back a little bit with Denver, he worked with West Valkyr, the Mary's Thomas, Emmanuel Sanders, in 2018 he worked with the giants as well.
- 17:50[SPEAKER_01]: Also had a little stint with Odel Beckham Jr. as well on some of the teams he's coached.
- 17:55[SPEAKER_01]: So it's really going to be up to Coach Tolbert and Caleb Douglas to really
- 18:00[SPEAKER_01]: hone in the tools in the skill set, provide that coaching where Caleb Douglas can actually make a good impact.
- 18:08[SPEAKER_01]: I think that he might be a wide receiver three type of guy very early on this season, but as it gets those reps as he learns the Shagana entry builds up strength in the off season.
- 18:20[SPEAKER_01]: I think we could see a wide receiver two type of guy that you can rely on in year two or year three in my
- 18:28[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I agree.
- 18:29[SPEAKER_00]: I think that the wide receiver room is completely open.
- 18:32[SPEAKER_00]: I think that what happens with Chris Bell is going to factor into that in a big way also, but I could see a scenario where Caleb starts out as a second or third string type receiver, but as the season goes on, he's able to climb up that depth chart and able to find a bigger role in there.
- 18:51[SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, I'm a player I am excited about seeing how he's going to develop.
- 18:55[SPEAKER_00]: They talked about his best footballers in front of him and looking forward to seeing that.
- 19:00[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 19:01[SPEAKER_01]: Thanks again.
- 19:01[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to talk about his wall cast Merrick, Titan out of Ohio State.
- 19:06[SPEAKER_01]: The dolphins had received this pick from the Eagles in the jail of Philip Strait.
- 19:11[SPEAKER_01]: And they got a guy who is more so of a blocking type of Titan for Ohio State.
- 19:17[SPEAKER_01]: OK, Coach, Ohio State led the nation in two Titan sets.
- 19:20[SPEAKER_01]: They deployed Max Claire and Will Casemaric together for almost 50% of SNAPs last year.
- 19:29[SPEAKER_01]: And Ohio State averaged 160 plus rushing arch per game
- 19:36[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, John Derrick Sullivan says that Cascemaric is an unsung hero, grimy dirty, bite your face off-type of dude, right?
- 19:44[SPEAKER_01]: He says he's going to be a difference maker for the dolphins specifically in the run game, and he's going to open up the offense to do a lot of things.
- 19:55[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I agree with all that.
- 19:56[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, he spent two years at Ohio University before going to Ohio State.
- 20:01[SPEAKER_00]: I have a lot of respect for Ohio University and some of the clinics that they've done in terms of run blocking and stuff like that.
- 20:07[SPEAKER_00]: So I think that really helped carry over to Ohio State.
- 20:10[SPEAKER_00]: And this is another guy that pre-directed, I didn't look at him.
- 20:13[SPEAKER_00]: I looked at Max Clarence, said, and I really wish I would have looked at Wilcasmer because I did that film breakdown video on him and I can confidently say that Wilcasmeric
- 20:24[SPEAKER_00]: from day one is going to be the best block and tight end that we've seen here in quite a while.
- 20:31[SPEAKER_00]: Like I was higher on Julian Hill than a lot of other people.
- 20:35[SPEAKER_00]: And then you go back to Durham, Smith before him.
- 20:37[SPEAKER_00]: I think that day one, Casmaric, is ahead of both of those guys.
- 20:42[SPEAKER_00]: I was really, really impressed with the consistency that he showed in his run blocking.
- 20:48[SPEAKER_00]: No, Ohio State didn't run a ton of outside zone, but I do think that's something that he does well.
- 20:55[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm looking forward to him being able to expand his menu in that sense.
- 21:00[SPEAKER_00]: But when you look at all the other stuff that you ask a inline, why tight end to do in terms of your
- 21:07[SPEAKER_00]: your down blocks your combo blocks your, you know, your, if you're pulling and leading split flow type stuff.
- 21:14[SPEAKER_00]: He's really good at all that.
- 21:17[SPEAKER_00]: And I think that as a receiver, you know, I think that it was tougher him to shine as a receiver to high of state when you got Jeremiah Smith, Cornell and Max Claire, like Max Claire is a better receiving the tight end of the well, Kess Merrick.
- 21:32[SPEAKER_00]: No questions asked by do think if there is more.
- 21:34[SPEAKER_00]: meet on the bone for Casmer in the NFL is a check down type guy.
- 21:39[SPEAKER_00]: He's not going to break many tackles, but I do think he is a dependable receiver that I could see, you know, I think 2022 at Ohio, he had 20 catches for 264 yards.
- 21:52[SPEAKER_00]: That was his highest yardage season.
- 21:55[SPEAKER_00]: And I could see him in the NFL surpassing that.
- 21:59[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, when we talk about,
- 22:01[SPEAKER_01]: his blocking, right?
- 22:02[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, he's able to stay square.
- 22:04[SPEAKER_01]: He rolls into his hit base really well.
- 22:06[SPEAKER_01]: He's able to hit those blocks and he's able to strain defenders as long as they're needed.
- 22:12[SPEAKER_01]: Talk about play against SEC competition.
- 22:14[SPEAKER_01]: Big 10 competition as well.
- 22:17[SPEAKER_01]: You know, he's
- 22:18[SPEAKER_01]: I'm blanking on the word, right, he's battle tested, right?
- 22:23[SPEAKER_01]: He's battle tested, for sure.
- 22:25[SPEAKER_01]: He's able to run on his feet within that contact.
- 22:27[SPEAKER_01]: He's able to wash defenders away.
- 22:29[SPEAKER_01]: He secures the edges.
- 22:31[SPEAKER_01]: He's able to climb up onto those combo blocks, as well, which is,
- 22:35[SPEAKER_01]: gonna be a staple for Bobby Slowick's scheme, right?
- 22:39[SPEAKER_01]: You know, the plug-and-play run-down ability for Wolf-Castmerk is in a media contribution to Devon H&N to Devon H&N the outside zone game.
- 22:52[SPEAKER_01]: right.
- 22:52[SPEAKER_01]: He can stay on the blocks until the whistle.
- 22:56[SPEAKER_01]: You couldn't necessarily say the same thing for Julianiel, Dermas Smith and the others, Dolphins tied it as well.
- 23:02[SPEAKER_01]: He's got that lineman mentality with more so in a tie-dend body, right?
- 23:08[SPEAKER_01]: I think he showed a bit of receiving improvements in 2025 with Ohio State.
- 23:13[SPEAKER_01]: I had around 10, 11 Nars per catch.
- 23:15[SPEAKER_01]: across both seasons at Ohio State, whatever was thrown at him, he was able to catch it.
- 23:21[SPEAKER_01]: But I think the improvement arc is there specifically when you start running those boots and those two tight insets as well.
- 23:27[SPEAKER_01]: People are going to expect the ball to go to Caleb Douglas or Chris Bell or Devon Hainware.
- 23:33[SPEAKER_01]: Now you have, you know, the WorldCast Merrick, you have him on a boot.
- 23:38[SPEAKER_01]: He's five yards open.
- 23:39[SPEAKER_01]: He can get an extra two, three yards.
- 23:41[SPEAKER_01]: You're close to a first down right
- 23:44[SPEAKER_01]: With his big body, he's six, five and a half coach, you're on a line up of him, Caleb Douglas, Chris Bell, Devon H and on there.
- 23:53[SPEAKER_01]: Now you got a size and speed mismatch everywhere on the field.
- 23:57[SPEAKER_01]: Who are you going to cover?
- 23:58[SPEAKER_01]: You're going to try and cover the best guys.
- 24:00[SPEAKER_01]: Cascemaric will probably be taken by a second, a second string linebacker or the second best linebacker or maybe a smaller nickel guy in those two tight and sets and he's gonna be better than those guys.
- 24:12[SPEAKER_01]: He should be able to catch them around the red zone area.
- 24:16[SPEAKER_01]: So we're looking at the different makeup of the roster and we're seeing, okay, this is his strength, this is his weakness, but there's ways around his weakness too.
- 24:30[SPEAKER_00]: You know, this is not a run after the catch type guy.
- 24:32[SPEAKER_00]: This is more of your guy that, you know, you're running your play action outside zone to the right, booting the leak will us out to the left.
- 24:41[SPEAKER_00]: Cascemaric, you know, kind of starts going to the right and then leaks back out into the flat right and then you put.
- 24:47[SPEAKER_00]: a defender into a, you know, a conflicts scenario, no wind scenario that, you know, as soon as he comes up, form a leak willus, then you jump just dump it down to cast merit, cast merit turns it up gets five six yards cast merit sure's a good good ability to find.
- 25:02[SPEAKER_00]: holds in zone coverage, right?
- 25:04[SPEAKER_00]: He's not going to run away from anybody, but as Malik Will is just starting to extend the play, Kasmerik can kind of find that hole.
- 25:12[SPEAKER_00]: I think that the the the stat that I saw was over the last three seasons and like 55 targets only had one drop.
- 25:19[SPEAKER_00]: So the hands are very dependable.
- 25:22[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, you talked about the size.
- 25:24[SPEAKER_00]: Again, he's not going to run away from anybody.
- 25:27[SPEAKER_00]: I don't expect him to be, you know, a red zone jump ball merchant or anything like that, but when you do start putting all those big bodies on the field.
- 25:36[SPEAKER_00]: somebody's got to cover cast America at some point, right?
- 25:39[SPEAKER_00]: And if it ends up being an undersized linebacker or a safety, right?
- 25:44[SPEAKER_00]: Again, going back to that Caleb Douglas conversation, right?
- 25:48[SPEAKER_00]: If you're, you're going to put somebody five ten on him and he is, you know, six foot, three, six foot, four, right?
- 25:54[SPEAKER_00]: You can put the ball up there and have an advantage without needing a vertical jump to go with it.
- 26:00[SPEAKER_00]: Um, so yeah, I do think that, you know, when you, when you,
- 26:03[SPEAKER_00]: add his value in the run game.
- 26:06[SPEAKER_00]: I think that's something that is very tough to measure.
- 26:08[SPEAKER_00]: But I think it's going to end up being very visible because I think we're going to see some huge runs that you find out or a direct result of his ability to finish that first level combo block and then peel off onto a linebacker to spring H and to the safety stuff like that.
- 26:27[SPEAKER_00]: But then it's not a guy that you have to
- 26:30[SPEAKER_00]: take off the feel like he keeps getting described as a sixth offensive lineman i think that can kind of be taken as a negative at times because i i don't think that some of you have to take off the field on on third downs right this isn't a damn brunt school that you're running out there and putting on the field he he can still be a productive receiver
- 26:51[SPEAKER_00]: You know, not a thousand yard type guy, right?
- 26:53[SPEAKER_00]: But if you told me that he came out and had a couple of five or six hundred yard seasons, and I would not be surprised at all.
- 27:01[SPEAKER_01]: All right, with that, we'll talk a little bit more about Casemaric, but first we will head to break.
- 27:08[SPEAKER_01]: All right, and we're back.
- 27:10[SPEAKER_01]: Coach, we talked a lot of good and some concerns for our little Casemaric, but
- 27:15[SPEAKER_01]: You want to dive a little bit deeper into the film specifically about the wide tight end sets.
- 27:21[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 27:23[SPEAKER_01]: With the slowest offense, I'm kind of having a hard time imagining
- 27:27[SPEAKER_01]: what the forced position player would look like, kind of like we saw with Mike McGangni, right?
- 27:33[SPEAKER_01]: He's a blocking white tenant.
- 27:35[SPEAKER_01]: He's got to compete for a starting role in 12-person or whether it's against Greg Dolcech, Jalen Corners, or another tight end.
- 27:42[SPEAKER_01]: I do think he'll end up winning because just of his run blocking prowess.
- 27:46[SPEAKER_01]: But when you talk about pass blocking itself, it's not on the same level as the run blocking.
- 27:52[SPEAKER_01]: right?
- 27:53[SPEAKER_01]: He can't necessarily go up against those faster speedier.
- 27:57[SPEAKER_01]: As Russia is when he has to move back a little bit in past protection, he has to move up with them and really generate that power and torque when he's moving up, not so much kind of like what Dan Brunskill did as that six offensive lineman moving back.
- 28:13[SPEAKER_01]: He can't necessarily finish the defender out of that play when he's past blocking.
- 28:18[SPEAKER_01]: So how is it going to work?
- 28:19[SPEAKER_01]: Is he going to be that
- 28:21[SPEAKER_01]: extra guy in line is he going to be the motion man is he going to be like that Julian Hill force position type of player are they going to do them as a fullback like there's a lot of things that are unknown right now even though we're in OTAs as of this moment yeah and that's all part of the puzzle that they're trying to put together we don't have a true fullback on the roster and we just
- 28:47[SPEAKER_00]: signed an undrafted free agent who played line-backer in college and we're calling him a full-back at this point.
- 28:52[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think that playing in that full-back role, you know, the lead blocker, the ISO type blocker, I don't think that's a strong suit for Casemaric, he's not awful at it, but he's not going to be Alec Engled in that role as well.
- 29:12[SPEAKER_00]: When you talk about, you know, how does he get his
- 29:18[SPEAKER_00]: a lot of 12 personnel when cast merits on the field with dulls of John there as well and then two wide receivers and then I think that it's going to kind of evolve from there like I think that 12 personnel is probably going to be more of your base personnel to start and then whether it's an additional receiver that comes on strong rate does
- 29:42[SPEAKER_00]: Malik washed and he has to be on the field in addition to the taller receivers.
- 29:48[SPEAKER_00]: Is it, you know, two to out while it shows he's just too dangerous to take off the field.
- 29:53[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 29:53[SPEAKER_00]: Those are where you start to rob Casmaric of some of those snaps.
- 29:58[SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, I think that early in the season we're going to see Casmaric probably leading the tight ends in terms of snap counts and then as we find out what kind of team this is like we find out that we have somebody else who is a
- 30:12[SPEAKER_00]: better in that full back roll than I could see dulce at staying on the field, cast merit coming off the field.
- 30:19[SPEAKER_00]: But I do think that cast merit is going to start out, leading the tight ends in snap counts.
- 30:24[SPEAKER_00]: And then I could see that kind of waning as the season goes on.
- 30:29[SPEAKER_00]: And we see where everybody fits into this puzzle.
- 30:32[SPEAKER_01]: I got to ask you, what type of tie-dend or what former player do you see and will cast merit?
- 30:44[SPEAKER_01]: Because I know what I see in it.
- 30:52[SPEAKER_00]: I can't say that I have a great comparison, like the best I could give you.
- 30:59[SPEAKER_00]: would be a bigger version of Julian Hill.
- 31:03[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe not quite the move type blocker that he was, but Julian Hill, one of the things that went against him was his size.
- 31:13[SPEAKER_00]: He was only six foot two, about 250.
- 31:17[SPEAKER_00]: Cas America is basically Julian Hill in a bigger body.
- 31:22[SPEAKER_00]: But because I'd say the same thing about Julian Hill, I did say the same thing that this is a guy
- 31:29[SPEAKER_00]: a plus guy in the run game, but you're never gonna get huge receiving numbers out of him.
- 31:36[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, I mean, just off the top of my head, that's probably the closest thing I'm gonna get as far as comparison, but I'm interested to hear who you have in mind.
- 31:46[SPEAKER_01]: All right, so remember back in 2013, 2014, Iowa days of CJ Fedorowix.
- 31:58[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, that's what I see in WorldCastmare.
- 32:01[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, that classic lifestyle rugged guy in the run game that crushes you in the run game, right?
- 32:11[SPEAKER_01]: Iowa is still known as Titan, you know, Casimir, not necessarily from Iowa, playing at Ohio University, Ohio State, Ohio guy through and through, but when you just watch and finish these rum blocks, I mean, I can understand that Julian Hillcompe, but that's really undermining Will Casimir.
- 32:33[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, these tight ends were normally as blockers.
- 32:38[SPEAKER_01]: Don't necessarily get that shine or get looked at that well.
- 32:42[SPEAKER_01]: When you talk about Cascemaric as a lie tight end, yes, you can utilize them as a motion man.
- 32:49[SPEAKER_01]: But some of these edge players, some of these linebackers are going to be a bit scared.
- 32:56[SPEAKER_01]: later on in Casmaric career trying to hold him trying to go around him and or just fearing that oh my god they're going to be you know push back and actually two three yards by a white dude from Ohio.
- 33:10[SPEAKER_01]: Okay like that's that's what is going to feel like to me.
- 33:13[SPEAKER_01]: And if you remember uh CJ's time in Houston um
- 33:21[SPEAKER_01]: he played real hard, but he also did get injured as well, just because of the type of blocks he would do.
- 33:28[SPEAKER_01]: He retired in 2018 due to incursions.
- 33:30[SPEAKER_01]: Now, Kasmerik, I don't, I hopefully don't see that happening for him, but it's a very similar play style in which you could see the trajectory of a CJ Fedora Woods type of player.
- 33:45[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I think that, you mentioned that the criticisms these tight ends can get these blocking tight ends.
- 33:51[SPEAKER_00]: I think there's a very narrow path for fans to fall in love with these type of tight ends.
- 33:57[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm actually kind of surprised that Casemar did not get more attention in the pre-draft process because when you go back to last year and there was the kid that Buffalo drafted
- 34:15[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, you know, I'm talking about in the fifth round and I had his name as you were talking there.
- 34:23[SPEAKER_00]: I completely lost it, but I was not as high on him last year, I thought that he went about works.
- 34:33[SPEAKER_01]: No, not Dawson Knox.
- 34:35[SPEAKER_00]: No, he was already there, I want to say it's Spencer, but I'm
- 34:41[SPEAKER_00]: Anyway, but Kasmiric is what I think what I felt like everybody solved that player, Jackson Haas, there you go.
- 34:50[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, Jackson Haas at a Georgia Tech.
- 34:53[SPEAKER_00]: I feel like Kasmiric is what a lot of people wanted Jackson Haas to be.
- 34:58[SPEAKER_00]: So I was surprised that Kasmiric didn't get more attention in the draft process from Miami fans that were obsessed with Jackson Haas last year.
- 35:07[SPEAKER_00]: But when you talk about the,
- 35:09[SPEAKER_00]: the way fans view these blocking tight ends, you know, when you look at somebody like a Greg Dolce, it's like Greg Dolce gets you can go out there and essentially suck as a blocker, but if he goes out there and puts up the numbers receiving, everybody's still going to love him, right?
- 35:25[SPEAKER_00]: But when we talk about these blocking tight ends and it does get similar to that offensive line type conversation where it's almost better that you're not talking about them because you
- 35:37[SPEAKER_00]: probably means they're doing their job.
- 35:39[SPEAKER_00]: But when you're talking about a tight end that leans more into that blocking archetype, then if they do start to miss some blocks, right?
- 35:51[SPEAKER_00]: Then that's what fans kind of hate or fix it on.
- 35:54[SPEAKER_00]: And if you don't have the receiving numbers to offset that, then fans are calling for their head early.
- 36:00[SPEAKER_00]: Thankfully, like I said, I think that Wilkass America is a fantastic blocker.
- 36:06[SPEAKER_00]: the realm that we're in.
- 36:08[SPEAKER_00]: Like I don't think this is a guy that we're hoping is a good blocker.
- 36:12[SPEAKER_00]: I think this is, again, the titans that I've watched over the last couple of years, I think that Cas America is probably my favorite in terms of watching him in the run game.
- 36:24[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to move on from Casper and can talk about.
- 36:28[SPEAKER_01]: Chris Bell, who now a lot of people are saying that he was the biggest deal of Miami's entire draft class, a significant steel at pick number 94.
- 36:39[SPEAKER_01]: He was projected as a fringe top 50 guy before the late season torn ACL.
- 36:43[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, he absolutely
- 36:45[SPEAKER_01]: hooked the Miami hurricanes here at a hard rock stadium.
- 36:49[SPEAKER_01]: He was a four-year starter at Louisville grew every season, lived in 2022, had a breakout season last year in 2025 and 2023, had under 500 yards receiving 2024 just under 800
- 37:03[SPEAKER_01]: He had around anywhere between 10 to 17 yards per catch per reception.
- 37:10[SPEAKER_01]: He had six touchdowns in 11 games, first team all ACC, 6 to 230 pounds, projected 4.440.
- 37:20[SPEAKER_01]: And he has the look and true feel of an extra seed for coach.
- 37:25[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I think that, you know, we talk about Caleb Douglas being that guy that's not going to be a high volume type pass catch.
- 37:31[SPEAKER_00]: I think Chris Bell is the opposite of that.
- 37:33[SPEAKER_00]: I think he's the type of guy that's going to catch a lot of short passes going to use that big frame and that, you know, projected 4.4 speed to pull away from guys underneath the the 227 pounds rate going to be able to run through arm tackles as well.
- 37:55[SPEAKER_00]: We heard, there was a question that came to John Eric Sullivan regarding players that are injured, right?
- 38:02[SPEAKER_00]: And how may I increase them?
- 38:03[SPEAKER_00]: And John Eric Sullivan talked about, you know, they're not going to take the player off the board, but they may flip that name upside down, right?
- 38:11[SPEAKER_00]: And it really makes me wonder with a player like Chris Bell that does have this type of injury.
- 38:16[SPEAKER_00]: Was this a player that was flipped upside down on their board and then as they're getting through and they're getting through the Jacob Rodriguez, the Caleb Douglas, right?
- 38:26[SPEAKER_00]: Just kidding.
- 38:27[SPEAKER_00]: Just kidding.
- 38:27[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe it's worth it here, maybe it's good.
- 38:30[SPEAKER_00]: So, you know, I, I,
- 38:33[SPEAKER_00]: think that they probably had Chris Bell rated higher than what they did Caleb Douglas, but had that medical flag on there.
- 38:41[SPEAKER_00]: I think it got to the point in the draft.
- 38:43[SPEAKER_00]: They were like, hey, we can't keep letting this guy fall.
- 38:48[SPEAKER_00]: So I almost feel like they may have had
- 38:50[SPEAKER_00]: more conviction in the Chris Bell selection.
- 38:54[SPEAKER_00]: Then they did the Caleb Douglas one.
- 38:55[SPEAKER_00]: Like I said Caleb Douglas kind of felt like, hey, we need this specific type of receiver.
- 39:01[SPEAKER_00]: This is the top guy that's left on the board.
- 39:03[SPEAKER_00]: Whereas Chris Bell feels more like, hey, this is a really good player that's fallen.
- 39:08[SPEAKER_00]: We can't let him fall any further.
- 39:11[SPEAKER_00]: And obviously the big thing here is going to be
- 39:18[SPEAKER_00]: Wow, I don't want to say thankfully, Rich, the team is not in a position where he has to play week one.
- 39:23[SPEAKER_00]: Like, if they lose a couple of games early in the season, it doesn't make a difference.
- 39:28[SPEAKER_00]: We're not talking about what these early season games mean in terms of the late season playoff push anything like that.
- 39:35[SPEAKER_00]: So I do think that is a good risk to take that, you know, your drafting Chris Bell, you don't have to worry about rushing him back onto the field.
- 39:43[SPEAKER_00]: If he's ready week one,
- 39:45[SPEAKER_00]: fantastic, right?
- 39:46[SPEAKER_00]: But if he's not quite right, then this team is with the transition that they're in, is in a place where they can let him get fully healthy before they put him on the field.
- 39:57[SPEAKER_00]: And hopefully this is a player that even if he's not wide receiver one in 2026, that as we move on to 2027, 28 when he does get healthy, then you know,
- 40:10[SPEAKER_00]: We're really looking back at the value of this pick and the risk that they took to bring a name.
- 40:15[SPEAKER_01]: I think he's going to be a really, really good contributor early on in Miami.
- 40:21[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, you talk about hand being a bullet in a call forward semifinals in 2025.
- 40:25[SPEAKER_01]: He was recognized as one of the best wide receivers in the country before his ACL injury.
- 40:31[SPEAKER_01]: Has that big play capability?
- 40:32[SPEAKER_01]: Look at that 68 yard touchdown versus Pittsburgh.
- 40:36[SPEAKER_01]: 12 catches, 170 yards, suit touchdowns against Virginia.
- 40:40[SPEAKER_01]: You talk about his game up against Miami and I keep referencing back.
- 40:44[SPEAKER_01]: Um, the drag route he caught against OJ Frederik against Miami at Hard Rock and OJ Frederik is potentially going to be a first-run draft pick in the 2027 NFL draft and he cooked them.
- 41:00[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 41:00[SPEAKER_01]: He grabs that drag route.
- 41:03[SPEAKER_01]: He,
- 41:03[SPEAKER_01]: Just like breaks away with his speed, he gets a couple of hands on him from defenders, and from what goes to be a 10-yard play, turns out to be a 40-yard touchdown, as he's able to break away from defenders, he's able to have that contact balance, that long speed, which also come up in his scouting report that are really good traits for rack guys, your doctor catch guys, and he really puts defenses in conflict after the catch.
- 41:32[SPEAKER_01]: He's built like an outside receiver, but he also brings that alignment versatility.
- 41:38[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, people talk about his comp.
- 41:41[SPEAKER_01]: like an AJ Brown type of player, right coach, just because of his size, his speed, his weight, but Chris Bell, Chris Bell is Chris Bell, okay.
- 41:53[SPEAKER_01]: He's going to turn those short throws into chunk plays.
- 41:56[SPEAKER_01]: He's dangers with the ball in his hands.
- 41:58[SPEAKER_01]: He uses his strong frame to break tackles and DBs can't necessarily get him on the ground.
- 42:04[SPEAKER_01]: He is going to be that glue guy and Bobby Sloak's offense catching those inbreakers, those digs, because guess what he did the same exact thing at Louisville?
- 42:15[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I think, you know that I'm not huge on player comps, but that AJ Brown won.
- 42:21[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think you can get much more spot on with it.
- 42:24[SPEAKER_00]: Very similar type receivers.
- 42:27[SPEAKER_00]: You know, I think that from a fit in Miami type thing,
- 42:31[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, he does have the size the skills to play that extra receiver role, but I also think that his size could really be beneficial in that big slot type role.
- 42:42[SPEAKER_00]: The role that Miami tried to put Nick Westbrook Akina in last year, where I think this is a player that can offer, you know, that that has the
- 42:52[SPEAKER_00]: the demeanor to be able to get after it in the run game and be an asset in that sense, but can also run away from guys.
- 43:00[SPEAKER_00]: And I think that, you know, he brings a unique skill set to the receiver room.
- 43:04[SPEAKER_00]: You hear people talk about wanting to build a wider receiver room, kind of like an NBA starting five, right?
- 43:12[SPEAKER_00]: You need guys that can do a little bit of everything.
- 43:15[SPEAKER_00]: Chris Bell, his ability to run those drag routes, run those dig routes that that over the middle stuff where he can catch and pull away his physicality.
- 43:26[SPEAKER_00]: That's stuff that's missing on the roster, right?
- 43:28[SPEAKER_00]: It's not Caleb Douglas.
- 43:29[SPEAKER_00]: It's not Malik Washington.
- 43:30[SPEAKER_00]: It's not too too outwell, right?
- 43:32[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe it's a little bit of Jalen Tolberg, but still, I think there's still a big differentiation in what you have between Bell and Tolberg.
- 43:40[SPEAKER_00]: So I think that Bell,
- 43:42[SPEAKER_00]: is again, right, adding to the versatility of that wide receiver room.
- 43:48[SPEAKER_00]: And I do think this is a guy that, you know, once he gets on the field, right, I hope it's week one.
- 43:53[SPEAKER_00]: But I do think it's a guy that Malik Willis is going to find for a, you know, a high volume type player.
- 43:59[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe not your averages 20 yards a catch type guy, but maybe more of a 12, 13, 14 yards.
- 44:06[SPEAKER_00]: But catching balls over the middle, being physical,
- 44:10[SPEAKER_00]: generating those first downs and like I said, I think that he, I think he will be an asset in the run game as well when we talk about trying to get a channel in the edge.
- 44:19[SPEAKER_00]: He's got the size to match up against any nickel back you put him against you talk about his ability with his size to be able to crack down on a linebacker.
- 44:29[SPEAKER_00]: or a hybrid type player.
- 44:31[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I think there's a lot to like here with him in the fit in my mind.
- 44:35[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, he does have a little bit of inconsistent blocking technique on the perimeter, but that's coachable.
- 44:40[SPEAKER_01]: And why are you a coach-tiky told me he's going to address that immediately?
- 44:44[SPEAKER_01]: But the thing is, I'm not the biggest fan of that AJ brain, but AJ Brown come, okay?
- 44:50[SPEAKER_01]: I do think he's got a good high ceiling.
- 44:52[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know if it's going to be like AJ Brown.
- 44:55[SPEAKER_01]: I also see him as like I like a Xavier look at, okay.
- 44:58[SPEAKER_01]: He had a limited route tree at Louisville same way look at hat at South Carolina, okay.
- 45:04[SPEAKER_01]: There was a lot of rigid like rigidness at the line of scrimmage under press where Bell was put into motion a lot of times against Louisville to have that, you know, lateral quickness where he didn't need to have a release package at the line of scrimmage, right?
- 45:21[SPEAKER_01]: Since he doesn't have a full-on release package, it causes that limitation in defeating press coverage.
- 45:28[SPEAKER_01]: Quickly, now the good thing about Bobby Slowix often is that there is going to be motion either with the white's at end or one of the white receivers.
- 45:37[SPEAKER_01]: And Louisville's route tree and that offense
- 45:41[SPEAKER_01]: wasn't like a west coast type of thing.
- 45:43[SPEAKER_01]: It was get vertical, a little bit underneath, let's just throw the ball and then we'll run it here and there.
- 45:50[SPEAKER_01]: He wasn't lined up at the slot that much.
- 45:53[SPEAKER_01]: He was a true on X-Wider Seabler.
- 45:56[SPEAKER_01]: I think he's going to get the benefit in Miami where they're going to move him around.
- 46:00[SPEAKER_01]: And that's the thing coach about this season with the dolphins.
- 46:04[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, they're going to have expectations of that player, but that expectation is not play off the bus this year, right?
- 46:12[SPEAKER_01]: It's about learning.
- 46:13[SPEAKER_01]: It's about developing.
- 46:14[SPEAKER_01]: It's about getting better every day, right?
- 46:17[SPEAKER_01]: He's going to have to learn how to use his hands in the run game.
- 46:20[SPEAKER_01]: He's going to have to pluck.
- 46:21[SPEAKER_01]: He's going to learn how to beat press, right?
- 46:24[SPEAKER_01]: He's going to learn how to play in that slide.
- 46:26[SPEAKER_01]: He's going to learn how to be laterally explosive at the line of scrimmage.
- 46:32[SPEAKER_01]: And that's going to come with coaching.
- 46:33[SPEAKER_01]: That's going to come with hard work.
- 46:35[SPEAKER_01]: And especially with him trying to get back with that ACL to become a brand new and better type of wider saber.
- 46:44[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, absolutely.
- 46:45[SPEAKER_00]: You talked earlier about Take Tolberate and how much respect he has around the league.
- 46:49[SPEAKER_00]: So I think it's a great place for Chris Bell to be in.
- 46:52[SPEAKER_00]: And nobody knows how this wide receiver room is going to look once we get to the season.
- 47:01[SPEAKER_00]: Like, there was a question today asked about not having a number one wide receiver asked to Jeff Halfley before the OTAs and Halfley's like, you don't know that we don't have one.
- 47:11[SPEAKER_00]: Right?
- 47:13[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know how much he believes that, right?
- 47:17[SPEAKER_00]: It's hard to look at this room and say there is a number one wide receiver in the room.
- 47:23[SPEAKER_00]: But I do think that you can look at the room, and you can say that it's kind of a blank slate, the most, from the Dolphins perspective, the most accomplished receiver that you have returning is Malik Washington, right?
- 47:36[SPEAKER_00]: And he's not guaranteed anything at all.
- 47:38[SPEAKER_01]: And most accomplished receivers
- 47:42[SPEAKER_00]: Well, I mean, but I mean, as far as being on the Dolphins.
- 47:45[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 47:46[SPEAKER_00]: Right, two two outlaws, a new face in the room.
- 47:48[SPEAKER_00]: He's got a carve out his own niche here.
- 47:51[SPEAKER_00]: So, you know, I think that when you look at this room and all the different pieces they have here, you know, I think that it's gonna be fun to see the competition in that room and the guys that emerge, right?
- 48:04[SPEAKER_00]: And it could be that it's the guys that can play multiple positions, right?
- 48:08[SPEAKER_00]: The guys that can,
- 48:10[SPEAKER_00]: move around, you know, because you really only have one receiver that's static on the field, right, your X receiver, whether that ends up being Caleb Douglas, Jalen Tolberg, Chris Bell, right, there's only one of those.
- 48:23[SPEAKER_00]: So if you want to be on the field in addition to that, then you have to be able to learn the playbook, learn the route trees, right, and
- 48:33[SPEAKER_00]: Find that, find the chemistry with Malik Willis.
- 48:37[SPEAKER_00]: It's going to be fun to see how this wide receiver room develops to see whether a number one does emerge or if they just all kind of find their roles in next season turns into finding that number one receive.
- 48:51[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, or these guys bite as puppies and, you know, Casemaric is, you know, the second coming of CJ Feteritz, or the second coming of George Kittle, but a much, much better blocker and has a little bit of improved, you know, receiving your ability.
- 49:09[SPEAKER_01]: then you have, you know, two, six, two plus wide receivers on opposite ends of the field and you're forcing safety to choose which one are they going to cover on those deep crossers, which one are they going to take underneath?
- 49:22[SPEAKER_01]: You don't know who's coming in.
- 49:24[SPEAKER_01]: You can't eliminate both those guys.
- 49:27[SPEAKER_01]: Let alone maybe three people with Devon H and also there.
- 49:32[SPEAKER_01]: in the past game.
- 49:34[SPEAKER_01]: And once again Devon H and his here for the long term for the Miami Dolphins.
- 49:38[SPEAKER_01]: 2026 we'll see what this offense looks like with these playmakers.
- 49:44[SPEAKER_01]: Hopefully in 2027 it looks really, really good.
- 49:48[SPEAKER_01]: All right, I'm your co-host who's some patelle, which with Coach Eric, let's take with us here on the scouting defense part of the three arch per carry podcast feed.
