- 3:19good evening, good evening, and welcome to another episode of Delay but
- 3:23not tonight the podcast episode forty one. Listen, y'all. We had some
- 3:30technical difficulties last month like you would not believe, so I had to bring
- 3:34my friend Brandy back. So MS Brandy if you would like to join me.
- 3:42Hi, how are you good? How are you? I'm good.
- 3:49So for those that didn't get to see you on the last episode, can
- 3:54you introduce yourself again? Absolutely? And thank you again? Were just bringing
- 4:00me back. I really appreciate absolutely. So I am Brandy as Jones,
- 4:05I am the CEO of everything Brandy and with every brand, everything Brandy.
- 4:13What I do is help individuals. I help individuals rebuild their brands, restore
- 4:19their faith, and I revitalize hair. So that's what I do in a
- 4:23ntshell. Okay, let me ask you, how do you intertwine all of
- 4:33that into doing hair? So with intertwining everything, and that's I happen to.
- 4:43For one, have a clientele that are a lot of professionals, and
- 4:47not only are they professionals, but a lot of them are entrepreneurs or they're
- 4:51wanting to become entrepreneurs. So that's how I combine the rebuilding their brand as
- 4:59far as restoring faith and then revitalizing hair. When it comes to ministry and
- 5:04combining business, ministry is who I am. I just plan not love God.
- 5:11I read his word. You know, he walks with me and he
- 5:15talks with me. So It's easy for me to be authentically who I am
- 5:20in my workspace and whether I'm coaching, whether I'm doing hair or anything else.
- 5:25It's just a part of me and it's something I can't run from.
- 5:29Right. I do know a little bit about running. God will meet you
- 5:34where you are. He will no matter how far you run. You can't
- 5:40outrun him. So what brought you into doing hair? So, my mom
- 5:48was a forty year stylist. I grew up in the industry although I didn't
- 5:58I honestly didn't even want to do hair. I ran from the industry.
- 6:02But it was really guy that really dealt with me, and often we actually
- 6:08we pray to God for different things. Like one of my biggest prayers was
- 6:12just really getting out of poverty and just really you know, expanding my family,
- 6:16introducing them, the more I believed God for more and so really the
- 6:20challenge was embracing that generational legacy that had been passed down. So it really
- 6:28it just happened to be here that I fell into and I actually fell in
- 6:31love with. But my grandfather, he was an entrepreneur. You know in
- 6:36taxicab drivers drivers there before uber, you know, they are the cab He
- 6:43also owned a motel, you know, so there's plenty of entrepreneurs. So
- 6:47what I had to do was really just reach down my bloodline and grab that
- 6:51entrepreneur spirit. And like I said, God really dealt with me on it.
- 6:56I fought it, but I absolutely loved it. When did you give
- 7:00in? Oh? I actually gave him. Right after my mom passed away.
- 7:08It was like as if a mantle fell on me. I would have
- 7:13different dreams. I remember my pastor coming to me, and I know this
- 7:17is something awkward for somebody to hear, but this was when my mom was
- 7:21passing away and I knew she was going to pass away. She passed away
- 7:25with cancer. Okay, so I knew she was going to pass away.
- 7:29But I remember my pastor coming up to me and he was saying, what
- 7:34did he say to me? He said, this time your mom won't make
- 7:39it. But her things are not for you to store up, it's for
- 7:43you to use. And so I really, you know, I was like,
- 7:48okay, you know, but God had already started speaking to me about
- 7:51it, and I was still kind of running, you know, because the
- 7:56fear of the industry, the fear of living up to my mom's legs,
- 8:00you see, you know, the fear of going into a new career because
- 8:03I was comfortable with where I was. I had just gotten that job,
- 8:07had just gotten two races or promotion, all of these things, and I'm
- 8:11like, God, you want me to do what either? Right? So
- 8:16I thank God that I had a supervisor that believe in God and believe in
- 8:20faith. You know what I'm saying, right, And so when I went
- 8:24to him, he was like, You're one of my favorite employees. You
- 8:28meet all your goals. You're always on time, which was rare, but
- 8:33it's like you're always on time. But then he sat back in his chair.
- 8:37And this is a very umble man, very umble, white spirit man,
- 8:43and he sat back in his chair and he said, but I dare
- 8:46not defer God's plan. M Yeah. I cried like a baby. And
- 8:50so I found the school that was part time. Then I decided to finally
- 8:58just leave my job period finished school because I was looking at how long it
- 9:01would take. And when I'm believing God for something I really wanted that happen,
- 9:07like I be that face without words is dead. Absolutely. But another
- 9:11thing that confirmed it. We were having a church service and a pastor was
- 9:16there and he was speaking about entrepreneurship and I don't know, you know who's
- 9:22on here that bleeds in prophecy, but I do. I do too,
- 9:26Okay, good, I don't really do. But in the atmosphere, he
- 9:31said, there's a young lady here who's supposed to be doing hair and I'll
- 9:37go as far as to say that she's afraid to go forward. But God
- 9:39told me to tell you you have the anointing in your HAIRDS the build franchises
- 9:45and oh wow, yeah that was That was the last one I knew.
- 9:48I had to say yes then, yeah, yeah, that probably would have
- 9:54had me laid out. I'm like, girl could have blew on me and
- 9:58I would have hit the floor. I can imagine. I was. I
- 10:01can imagine, because you know, not everyone is called to prophesy over someone,
- 10:11and when you get those that are, it's just like mind blowing.
- 10:16Yes, they can just hear from God enough to tell you, hey,
- 10:24you you're sleeping on what God gave. Yeah. Yeah, and it was
- 10:28what I needed. You know, it was definitely an act of faith.
- 10:33It was scary because you know my mom, you know, she was one
- 10:39of the baddest hairstyles. Yes, was you know what I'm saying. So
- 10:43that was a hard legacy to live up to and one thing I had to
- 10:48do because I tried to fight it. Like I'm my own person, you
- 10:50know how I try to be hard on my own person. I don't need
- 10:54to be like you know. And I remember just going to God. She
- 10:56said to me, girl, you better ride it name right now. You
- 11:03know, it's a lot of favor there that I get because of who my
- 11:07mom was. Right, so I had to again, I had to embrace
- 11:09that, ladacy. Do you ever feel like at any time that you're being
- 11:16compared to your mom in that genre? I used super not anymore. And
- 11:22even if I am, I'm fine with you because my mom was a great
- 11:26person. Yes she was. I remember your mom, I do, and
- 11:31she always smiled like you are her all over again, Like your face is
- 11:37just you are your mom twen. You are your mom's twin, and your
- 11:43girls are like the triplet and the quad grouplet to your mama. So beautiful,
- 11:52lady. She used to do my hair when I was little. Yeah,
- 11:56yeah, thank you so much. I loved your mom and she could,
- 12:01Oh she could wash some hell, yes that she could. I'm just
- 12:07sitting here thinking about who the way she just get in there and that was
- 12:11her honey, Yes, but do your daughters do hair? So my my
- 12:22oldest she used to help a lady with shampaon. But she has a psychology
- 12:28degree so she's more into therapy and counseling a little something. Now, My
- 12:35baby girl, she can break, so I'm trying to She's going to college
- 12:39and stuff soon. I want her to pursue her career. But I'm kind
- 12:43of trying to get her to get in the braiding more because I'm like,
- 12:46you know, like you know how much money you can make versus working right
- 12:50right, So I'm trying to put her there. There is nothing better than
- 12:56a great braider. This it's really good. So I don't know if you've
- 13:01been seeing my braids and stuff, but she's the one that I have.
- 13:05You have you can tell those hands on anointed to I love it, blessed
- 13:11than how they favored. What would you say for someone who wants to pursue
- 13:20the hair industry and they're not quite sure if they have what it takes to
- 13:28get involved, I would say go for it. And I say that because
- 13:35the beauty industry is a billion dollar industry and what they're being said. There
- 13:41are so many avenues to the beauty industry. So it's not just hair,
- 13:46you know. So I don't, you know, like my whole career,
- 13:50I've never done extensions except for crochet, but there are people they do.
- 13:54But I make just as much income, you know. So I'm more my
- 14:00I gear more towards healthy hair and hair loss, you know what I'm saying.
- 14:03So it's a broad industry and what you have to do, and that's
- 14:09not just in the beauty industry, but as an entrepreneur period. You have
- 14:13to find your niche. What are you good at, what can you what's
- 14:16your specialty, what do you have a passion for, and when you find
- 14:20that passion, continue to work on it and build it and capitalize on it.
- 14:26Okay, but I want to dye my hair blond like you had,
- 14:31George. So how do I do that without my hair falling out? It's
- 14:37about the person that's doing it. Listen, I'm coming. I'm coming.
- 14:45I am definitely coming because this is as close to blond as it's gotten.
- 14:50But oh yeah, I wanted I saw the right product and the knowledge of
- 14:56the stylist. You know, a lot of people are concerned about their are
- 15:00falling out. But I do plenty of color and stuff. But it's a
- 15:05it's all about you knowing the difference in the type of product and what your
- 15:09client can take and things like that, and if your client is even a
- 15:11candidate for it. Okay, so you do like what is it called?
- 15:22It's looked my mind like when somebody a consultation consultation? Yes, absolutely,
- 15:28absolutely, what is what's the reason behind doing that? Because I know a
- 15:35lot of beauticians don't. Yeah, so it's when it comes to color or
- 15:41hair. Louts are really big on the consultation. But really every client should
- 15:48have a consultation. I know only have a consultation, but I have a
- 15:52form for people to pull out fill out because I need to know if you're
- 15:54allergic to things. But the purpose of the consultation is for one to get
- 16:00proper pricing. You also want to know if the client is a fit for
- 16:07you and if the stylust is a fit for the client. You want to
- 16:11know what their hair is like, are they a candidate for what they're asking
- 16:15for at the moment? Do you need to wait? And you also want
- 16:18to know some of the concerns about the client as well as their lifestyle.
- 16:23So all of those things play off play. So if I have someone that's
- 16:27constantly doing interviews or you know, on TV or things like that, they
- 16:34may are there speaking engagement, things are bad to bad. They may not
- 16:38be a candidate to be a natural client or wear natural styles, you know
- 16:44what I'm saying. So they need something more easy. So this is where
- 16:48these conversations come in with. You know, they may want a certain cut
- 16:53and they cut may not look good on them, So I want to make
- 16:57sure. Blat Domind said, although synthetic hair is cheaper than human hair,
- 17:03which would you recommend for knockless braids? Most stylists I don't have. Well,
- 17:15I'll say this, I don't really have a recommendation because I don't braid.
- 17:21Okay, I know some of the brands that they use, but it
- 17:23also depends on what kind of style. The cheaper the hair is, the
- 17:30more the braider hates it. Yeah, I do know that, yeah,
- 17:34because it cuts their fingers. And so you you really want to ask whatever
- 17:40braider that you're going to. It's really up to the braider because they normally
- 17:45have a type of hair that they prefer using. And DD wants to know,
- 17:51how do you know if you're a candidate for coloring. So what we
- 17:55do is what we call a pat checks I'm sorry, a patch toy.
- 18:00And that's where you take a piece of the hair and you color it the
- 18:06color that the client is looking for, and you wait, like even twenty
- 18:10four hours. You even test it on the client's skin. But that patch
- 18:14chest really is what lets us know if your hair is able to take that
- 18:18is a porosity level, okay, and things like that. That makes a
- 18:26whole lot of sense. I was listening to what you were saying about the
- 18:29consules. You may agree with me that most of the older beauticians back in
- 18:40the day, they never did the consult They just were You're gonna get in
- 18:44this chair, I'm gonna give you what you want, and out the door
- 18:48you go. What has changed in that time period from the way they did
- 18:55it to the way you do it? So I thing we say most older
- 19:00people, but it's it's really a because there's a lot of us younger generation
- 19:06that don't do them either. But it's really again, it's really about the
- 19:11stylist and what they prefer and how their salon is set up. So you
- 19:15have some salons and some stylists that are more professional than others, or they
- 19:22just prefer their own thing of not doing consultation. But the difference between back
- 19:29then and now is for one, incomes change. A lot of us newer
- 19:34stylists and I'm just including myself, you know, we we can't deal with
- 19:41you know, people no shape to people, but a lot of people no
- 19:45show you know what I'm saying, right right, It's just a lot of
- 19:49things. So just like but it's some stylists that can be really horrible stylists,
- 19:56like they they are great at hair, but their customers service is horrible,
- 20:00you know what I'm saying. And so it's even again for the client
- 20:06to see if that stylist is a benefit to them, you know what I
- 20:10mean. And so that it's really not. So it's really not a younger
- 20:14older thing. I think a lot of people are saying that, but I
- 20:18think it's we're we're and I'm just speaking on behalf of stylists. I think
- 20:22we're just tired of being abused with our time that you know, so because
- 20:32we a person made book and not show up and so and then you have
- 20:37people that are upset because they have to pay deposits. You know, I've
- 20:41had that experience. The lady was like, you know, it's just a
- 20:45deposit that I got to pay it. In my head, I didn't say
- 20:48it to her, but I'm like, and you're one of the ones that
- 20:51no showed on me. I do you know? We have to get our
- 20:56money. And what we realize between conselations and no shows a stylist, can
- 21:03you lose about thirty grand a year just a lot of It's a lot of
- 21:07money, a lot of money. Yeah. So we've just gotten tired of
- 21:11that and just we come up with more creative ways to run our business because
- 21:17we're actually running it like a business. Right right. Black Diamonds wanted to
- 21:23know how long should you wait between changing colors? It depends on a color.
- 21:30Okay, yeah, why is that? So? Again? It depends
- 21:37on your hair and how healthy your hair is and what the color has done
- 21:41to your hair. A lot of people, so here's one thing. A
- 21:47lot of clients do a lot of them want to be a blonde or platinum,
- 21:52but they're also looking at red. So I would tell a person,
- 21:56don't go red and then try to go blonde. You want to go to
- 21:59oppicee because we can cover a blond easily, but it's hard to pull red
- 22:03or black or things like that off the hair to take you to a platinum
- 22:07or a blonde. So you want to kind of way in between. When
- 22:12it comes to permanent colors, you want to push it out. You always
- 22:17refresh them, but you want to kind of push it out. But when
- 22:21you're dealing with a rent or something like that, like that's easy, okay,
- 22:25but the stylist in what she prefers, but you do want to don't
- 22:30go back to back m h. Black Diamond also says if a client has
- 22:36a relaxer and then a week later with like coloring, what would you recommend
- 22:41even if your client is persistent, I would push you back at least two
- 22:47weeks perfectly, okay m hm. And is that just to keep the color
- 22:56and the chemicals from the relax Yeah, place the chemicals clashing, and then
- 23:03just the integrity of the hair because at the end of the day, the
- 23:07client still wants to hair on their head. So you got it right.
- 23:10See how fragile the client's hair is. Okay, my husband experienced alopecia due
- 23:19to the COVID vaccine. Yeah, Is there a chance of the hair ever
- 23:29coming back with alopecia, Yes, So there's different forms of alopecia. A
- 23:34lot of people experience have lost during COVID because it's messing with your commune system,
- 23:41and so that's when you deal with intelligent effluvium, it's what we call
- 23:45it, and it's a lot of shedding of the hair. So hair sheds
- 23:48anyway, every day it sheds, but there's more when it comes to telligent
- 23:56effluvium, there's like more so chunks of shit. So with telligence, it's
- 24:02not just COVID. People deal with it when they deal with postpartum depression or
- 24:07just post having a baby, menopause, your hormones are off. So it's
- 24:12a lot of factors when it comes to alopecia. Some it could be,
- 24:18you know, wearing tear with the hair. It could be chemicals. Some
- 24:23is what we call c C C A, which deals more with the immune
- 24:27system. The majority of alopecia is dealt with with the immune system, and
- 24:34so it's always good to make sure that you're keeping up with your labs,
- 24:40making sure your stress level is down. So even with stress, you have
- 24:45these stress factors, These these adrenaline glass that are going crazy. This is
- 24:52what's going on in your body. Okay, So your body is trying to
- 24:56figure out it sees it sees that something this foreign mm hmm, and there's
- 25:02danger. So the first thing it does is attack the follow and now your
- 25:07hair is following out. If that makes sense, Yeah, I got you.
- 25:11Yeah. So it's it's several forms, and you have scarn and you
- 25:15have non scoring alopecia. So there are some alopecias that will go back and
- 25:22then there's some that won't. Okay, Black Diamond says, she wished that
- 25:27she could bottle you up and bring you to the DMV area. Listen,
- 25:33how did me because I travel? She says. Her daughter wants to know,
- 25:40how do you feel about the eradication of the cosmetology license? She's a
- 25:45stylist. I hate it. What she means them getting rid of license?
- 25:51Mm hmm. What she's saying, Black Diamond, she she's not understanding.
- 25:57Well, we're not understanding your question. Could you asks again please? Because
- 26:07I know there's a word out here in several states where they're trying to really
- 26:14stop licensing. Why. I don't know. It's a slap in our face
- 26:19because I don't respect stylists, and I think and that's it's one thing for
- 26:25us, it's stylish to speak up, but it's another thing for clients to
- 26:30speak up as well. And that's where the challenge is. That's why they
- 26:33didn't mind shutting us down during COVID. People don't take the industry. But
- 26:40yeah, that's what she was asking. How do you feel about them getting
- 26:42rid of the license. Yes, I think it's horrible. I think it's
- 26:48horrible because a lot of us have really invested in this industry. So,
- 26:53like I told a friend girl of mine, I said, well, they're
- 26:56gonna have to give me back my student loans, right, usually eighteen thousand
- 27:02and that then when I did my hair loss, that was another ten thousand.
- 27:07So I spent money in my career. That's why I charged the prices
- 27:11I charged, and I'm not even at the max. I'm like the minimum.
- 27:15Right. I spent a lot of money on classes and information to make
- 27:19sure that my clients okay, travel and all of that with their hair,
- 27:25and so I think it's a slap in the face. I think if they
- 27:29deregulate license, it's going to be a lot more alopecia, as well as
- 27:37diseases scout hair and scalp diseases and things like that. As it's already because
- 27:42you know, people are just doing it's just a matter of them just not
- 27:48liking the They don't respect the industry. But I understand that it's well because
- 27:53a lot of us is stylists have not been kept the integrity of the industry.
- 28:00Have you thought about have you thought about petitioning? Yes, it's a
- 28:04lot of us that have talked about going to the government and just making sure
- 28:10we're in rooms when they're having these discussions because I know, you know,
- 28:15unless we're hurt, right. I know a lot of stylists have gone to
- 28:22like hair school and have to get a certain amount of hours and mm hmmm,
- 28:32well it depends on the state, but for a southern line they swell
- 28:34hundred. My bonus daughter went to Kenneth Schuler to get her license on well,
- 28:45however, you know the steps to getting to that point. Somewhere along
- 28:48the line, she got frustrated and she just she she did she'll do hair,
- 28:55but she has no I don't think she has the desire to go and
- 29:00finish where she started because of the way things were handled at that school.
- 29:07So do you know of any people that like bring people in to study up
- 29:15under them? Can they do that instead of going to like a cosmetology school.
- 29:22So the person still has to be a license accredited instructor in order okay,
- 29:30yeah, but there are people and not just a license accredited instructor,
- 29:34but you have to also be certified to do SeeU hours m which is that's
- 29:41what she's needed in order to do it. Okay, but there are some
- 29:45private people out here that do it. And then there's plenty of other schools
- 29:49other than Kenne Sulder. Yeah, but you know, Spartanburg is dwindling down
- 29:57with certain things, and restaurants are popping up, yeah, on every turn,
- 30:04and so you know it's kind of hard to find, you know,
- 30:10what it is that you're looking for in that particular industry. Well, I
- 30:15always recommend one of my So the school that I went to was Faum Metal
- 30:21Beauty School, but that school is no longer open, but the director that
- 30:26I had there, she actually opened her own school. So she's by West
- 30:30Skate Mam now where David's Bridle was, and so she has her own school.
- 30:33I always send people to her. Okay, yeah, her spirit is
- 30:38totally different. Okay, mm hmm. Yeah, Okay. The last time
- 30:45we chat, we were actually talking about what were we talking about. We
- 30:55were discussing our upbringing and things we did as teenagers. And you were talking
- 31:04about, you know, your daughters and how you are, how you've raised
- 31:11them to not do things that we did growing up. How do you include
- 31:21that into your ministry as far as the young girls go. So I started
- 31:27off by saying that my daughters are my first ministry mm hmm, and my
- 31:33passion for them and what I went through as a younger child, you know,
- 31:38being raped and molestic, you know, drinking early, you know,
- 31:42smoking, you know, I lived in the hood, so you know,
- 31:45we got exposed to a lot, you know, right, and but also
- 31:52the negative side of everything. I didn't want my children to go through.
- 31:57And so what I found was that a lot of young girls were just drawn
- 32:02to me, mainly because I'm so transparent in what I've done in my life,
- 32:08right, and so you know, the Bible says and they overcame those
- 32:12and demons by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of testimony.
- 32:15And so what I've learned is testimony draws them in, and the Bible says,
- 32:22with love and kindness, have I drawn them near? And so my
- 32:25heart is period for the youth, not just young girls, but young boys,
- 32:30but mainly young girls, and a lot of them, you know,
- 32:32they have family issues, mother issues, not just father issues, but even
- 32:37mother issues, right, And I would get phone calls over in the morning,
- 32:42like four in the morning from them, and I just always made sure
- 32:45I had a listening ear and not a judging ears if I hadn't done nothing,
- 32:50because Lord no, I was up a shame. We both were right,
- 33:00But I thank God for Gee. That's just I always just made sure
- 33:04I had an open door, and I communicated a lot with my girls.
- 33:09I also gave my children freedom of choice, so they knew what I did,
- 33:15and they had a foundation in Christ. I remember sitting down with my
- 33:19oldest one time, I think she was sixteen or seventeen. She was sixteen,
- 33:25and I told her, I said, you know, I have two
- 33:28years left to train you as a woman before you leave to go to college.
- 33:32And I told her, you know, you know my testimony, and
- 33:36you have a foundation in Christ. So if you choose to strass you,
- 33:42you know, but you as parents, we have to be okay with giving
- 33:46them the space to grow because the same guy that deals with us and speak
- 33:51to us is the same guy that deals with them as a parent. How
- 33:55do you let go and let God? Because that's something that I struggle with
- 34:02And I don't know if it comes from me being adopted. And you know,
- 34:07I had my son at sixteen and so for for a long time he
- 34:14was my only blood relative. And so even now he's twenty nine, I
- 34:22still expect him to check in, not saying that he does because he does
- 34:25not, But you know, it's just like it's something like that has a
- 34:30hold on me to the point where I have to know that he's okay,
- 34:37and I know he can't enjoy his life, you know, the life that
- 34:40God gave him with a worry reward for a mom. So how was letting
- 34:46go for you? Because I know your oldest daughter is married, right yep,
- 34:52she's married now with a baby on the way. They have a girl.
- 35:02It was it was hard, but I trusted the process, Okay.
- 35:09I knew also that I had done everything I was supposed to do as a
- 35:15mom, right and I had to really trust God. So again it was
- 35:20one of those the same holy spirit that lives in me lives in them.
- 35:25And then it took my daughter also telling me like, Mom, you did
- 35:29a great job with us to trust what you put in me, you know
- 35:36yeah, And so I'm like, okay, but we And then another thing
- 35:42too is we have to realize what God done for us, right, and
- 35:49the quicker we let go and let God be got in their life, the
- 35:52quicker they can align themselves with who they need to be and the authentic person
- 35:58that God has created in the be And so me holding on and me continuing
- 36:04to have to allow my voice to be louder than God's because that's what happens.
- 36:09We try to allow a voice to be louder than God. Instead of
- 36:13going to the Father and praying to the Father and God working it out,
- 36:17we tend to get in the way, so the very thing that we're praying
- 36:22for, we hinder the process. And so it took all of that.
- 36:28Like Seanelle is my older she has been not once has she talked back to
- 36:32me or been disrespectful. I am not saying that she ain't want to right,
- 36:37she knew that her mama's a little opportune too, But said, it's
- 36:43still in there a little bit. It's still in there. I say,
- 36:45love and Lord, but she's a little still in there, you know.
- 36:50But I had to trust really what I put in her. You know.
- 36:55It's because they're all It's like the older they're getting. They're small, they're
- 37:00run your ankles, they'll run your kneecaps. But the old they get,
- 37:02they get around your heart and you be wanting to but you realize, okay,
- 37:07they got to go through their own tests. They are, you know,
- 37:12like my baby girl, she's leaving for school. So I had a
- 37:15conversation with her. Mm hm, yo, you know what, you know
- 37:20what you need to do. It's gonna be a culture shock, it's gonna
- 37:22be other religions out there. It's gonna be a lot going on. But
- 37:25I need you to know what you've experienced with the father so that you don't
- 37:30worry. Yeah. I think they're more so concerned about me now though.
- 37:37Yeah, Yeah, that empty nest is something serious. It's something serious.
- 37:44My son has a daughter too, she's three, and it's been hard for
- 37:52me to just you know, fall back and let him be a father because
- 37:58in my mind, my baby was a virgin like his daughter got here through
- 38:01Jesus. He didn't. He had no parts to that. She the Second
- 38:06Coming. But yeah, all lies, all lies, right, right?
- 38:15But you know, and that was something I found my biological family in twenty
- 38:21ten. And my biological mom and my son were thick as thieves, Like
- 38:28she knew more about him than I did. So when she was telling me,
- 38:31you know, Deontas not a virgin, and I'm like, you know,
- 38:36my mind frame is lady, we don't even live in the same area
- 38:38code. You do not know my son like, but she did. She
- 38:44did. And when they came to me and told me that they were having
- 38:47a baby, I was like, shut the front door, how but but
- 38:54that baby's here, She's loved, she looks exactly like me. But she
- 39:01looks exactly like me. But I say that to say that I am learning
- 39:09to get out of God's way and let him do him because He's never needed
- 39:19my assistance in any anything. So, you know, just stepping out,
- 39:27stepping out the way, because I've seen God work. I know what he
- 39:30can do. You know, I was told that I wouldn't walk and that
- 39:38I wouldn't live past the age of nine years old. I just turned forty
- 39:44five in January, doctor said I wouldn't have kids. My son is twenty
- 39:51nine, so you know, I I don't know if you've seen my page.
- 39:57I was looking for a young man that I was in a foster home
- 40:01with before I got adopted. Been looking for this man for years and I
- 40:07found him today and that was nobody but God, Nobody but God, because
- 40:15I didn't even have a last name for him. All I remember because I
- 40:20was eighteen months old when I got adopted, so all I remembered was his
- 40:24name and what he looked like. So I made a post and I posted
- 40:30you know how old I thought he was, and somebody inboxed me and said,
- 40:36you know, I think this is who you're looking for and sent me
- 40:39a picture and I was floored. Wow, Like so you know. I
- 40:45say all of that to say, you know, don't sleep on God.
- 40:50He is. He is always on his job, like you know, and
- 40:58he may not you know. That little saying he may not come when you
- 41:01want it, but he's always on time used to irk the life out of
- 41:06me, but I get it now again. It's like me being adopted and
- 41:14looking for my parents for thirty one years. I was thirty one when I
- 41:17found them, and I was like, I didn't understand why it took so
- 41:25long when they're just forty five minutes away. They live in Right Hill.
- 41:31Wow. So they've literally been around the corner of my whole life and I
- 41:37never knew. But things haven't always gone the way I had hoped that they
- 41:45would have gone. But so now I know that God allowed it to be
- 41:52thirty one years to prepare me for this moment because my biological mother passed away
- 42:00three years and eleven months after I met her. So God's so strategic,
- 42:07right, right, right, And so I'm just like, you know,
- 42:14I went into that place of why would you allow me to find her only
- 42:17to take her again? You know, but I was able to create memories
- 42:27in those three years and eleven months that had I not found her, you
- 42:32know, it could have been different. I could have found family and they
- 42:37could have told me she was already gone. But you know, God gave
- 42:42me that opportunity to get to know her, to spend time with her,
- 42:45to love on her, to let her love on me, and let her
- 42:49build that relationship with my son that she had, and it was beautiful to
- 42:54watch, you know. But I just side track it's the ADHD. But
- 43:04let me ask you, out of all the things that you've done with your
- 43:08hair, what is the most what what is your favorite style and color that
- 43:15you've you've gone through For myself? Mm hmm, probably the Platinum. I
- 43:23love it. I loved it too. You rocked that hairstyle. You did,
- 43:31you really did. And you you are so like beautiful in your own
- 43:38right with even down to the way you dress, like you have your own
- 43:45flair and your own girl and so you know, it's just it's it's a
- 43:53blessing to know where we've come from and to see us all as adults,
- 44:01you know, striving being healthy and yeah and flourishing all days are not not
- 44:12great. You know, God didn't didn't say that it wouldn't storm. He
- 44:19just promised we wouldn't get wet. So we're out here, you know,
- 44:23up under his umbrella, letting it do what he do. But I am
- 44:30so proud of you and your walk, your walk. When I joined the
- 44:37church that you're a part of and you came back to the back and prayed
- 44:45with me, that prayer has sup with me, Like you have no idea
- 44:51what you poured into me in in that setting and so for that, I
- 44:58thank God for you. I pray over you, and I pray that God
- 45:04keeps his hand on your business. And I see you flourishing. I see
- 45:10it like you know, just to go by the old building and see how
- 45:15you had the poster in the window. I look at my dud. But
- 45:22you know, we we literally live right down the street from your old spot
- 45:28by the place. Yeah, we're behind the QT so and so you know
- 45:36we were playing on the last episode that you have a new location. Could
- 45:40you share with us where you're located now? Yes. So I actually closed
- 45:45my salan the end of September just to kind of revamp, starting over,
- 45:52you know, just restarted my vision over. And that's the thing about being
- 45:57an entrepreneur is you have so many ideas, but you gotta bring those ideas
- 46:00to one vision, right in order to revamp I start, I close my
- 46:07salon and change up a lot of things. So now I'm met salons by
- 46:10JC Ivasweet, I mean Rooney Levin. I love the atmosphere. I love
- 46:15the mixed culture, and it's comfortable for now. It's not my permanent place,
- 46:21but God got things brewing. So y'all, y'all keep watching keep watching
- 46:27and if anybody wants to reach out to you for just entrepreneurial advice or whatever,
- 46:37how can they reach you. You're gonna everything Brandy dot com. And
- 46:40so I have my coaching program on there as well as my hairstyle. So
- 46:46everything I do is on Everything Brandy dot com. Y'all definitely check it out.
- 46:52I have some I also have some membership programs that I have coming up
- 47:00as well as Brunch with Brandy is coming up June twenty second. Y'all have
- 47:06got to be there. It is an experience, so I'll be posting it
- 47:09soon. But I'm even revamping with Brunch with Brandy. It's gonna turn into
- 47:15some monthly things. Monthly bru It's a monthly brunch focused towards women just getting
- 47:22healing, deliverance, set free, and becoming whole. And we'll be using
- 47:28life coaching strategies, inspirational speakers and different things, different tools in different ways
- 47:35and really hard conversations through these brunches. And so I got, you know,
- 47:42quite a few things coming up, and I'm super excited about it all.
- 47:45I'm also in the middle of writing another book, so I'm excited.
- 47:50Oh wow, Yeah, So you already have written one book. Yes,
- 47:55so I have my journal which is No Flaws. It's on the website as
- 48:00well. Everything brings back, and then I have From Crisis to Clarity for
- 48:05entrepreneurs. But now I'm working on a From Crisis to Clarity that targets women
- 48:10and just something motivational for us women, you know, because we can go
- 48:15through some trauma. I'm I'm actually in the middle of a big transition now
- 48:21in my life. I realized I didn't realize. Honestly, I didn't realize
- 48:25how much bundage I was in until I mean my transition, and really,
- 48:32like they it was. It was one of those things where this may be
- 48:38harsh for some people here, but for me, it was life or death
- 48:44because people don't realize what's going on in your mind. People don't realize the
- 48:47thing you have going on in your body and all of those things. And
- 48:52so I'm gonna do everything you know I do is faith based. So it's
- 48:57called From Crisis to Clarity, but it's gonna be a women's edition. Okay,
- 49:02Well, before we take off, Brandy, is there anything that you
- 49:06want the audience to know about you, what you stand for, what you
- 49:10believe, what is there anything that you would like to share before we leave.
- 49:17I can really just piggyback off of that from crisis to clarity. I
- 49:21believe that as a people, we have to make sure that we are being
- 49:29authentically who God has created us to be. I always create your own values,
- 49:35your own boundaries, your own non negotiables, so that you can authentically
- 49:40walk in who it is that He's created you to be. And let your
- 49:44light so shine if Bible tells us to let our like so shine so that
- 49:47men might see that I could work, but that God will be glorified,
- 49:52which is in heaven. And so if anything, make sure that God is
- 49:57a part of everything that you do. He wants fail. He absolutely will
- 50:02not fail. Okay, but I do have one last question for you.
- 50:12Would you mind praying this out? Absolutely absolutely? Let us pray Father,
- 50:16in the name of Jesus God. We thank you, lor God. We
- 50:21thank you that this is truly a day that you have made. So we
- 50:23come and we choose to rejoice and be glad. Any God, I thank
- 50:28you, Thank you for this podcast. Lord God. We speak expansion over
- 50:34it in the name of Jesus God. Shandia. We speak God that it
- 50:38will even God reach the massive, Lord God, reach living rooms. Lord

- 50:58I ask God that you will bless those God that are watching. Lord God.
- 51:01We thank you, Lord God for them being such a support. God.
- 51:06You know what your people need. Lord, so we speak increase in
- 51:09that area of Lord God. We believe that you're still a healer God,
- 51:14that you're still a sustainer God, that you're still a provider God, that
- 51:17you're a mind regulator. Lord God. We even believe God that even the
- 51:22concerns that we have about our children, Lord God, you'll give us peace
- 51:25that surpasses all understanding. Lord God. We thank you, Lord God that
- 51:30even for the entrepreneur's God that will put you back on the throne, Lord
- 51:36God, for you set in your word. God. Is that you that
- 51:38gives us the ability to give wealth. So Father, we thank you,
- 51:43Lord God. We thank you for this opportunity, Lord God, and we
- 51:46ask God that you will continue never to leave us nor forsake us. That
- 51:51you will continue God to allow your presence to be before us. God,
- 51:54we speak restoration. Even now, God, you set in your word God,
- 51:59that you will restond to us the years that the palmer worm, the
- 52:02canker worm, and the caliprillar have eating. God. We won't get discouraged
- 52:07by the things that we've been hearing, Lord God, but we'll continue God
- 52:12to believe what's your word declass Lord God, that you can that we can
- 52:15do all things through Christ who strengthens us, and that you'll provide all of
- 52:21our needs, everything we need, not just financially, but everything we need
- 52:25according to your richest in glory. So Father, we thank you. We
- 52:30give you our glory in Jesus' names. Amen, Amen, Amen, Amen.
- 52:38Well listen, I'm going to have you come back because we do know
- 52:46that God is going to increase your territory, so we're gonna want to know
- 52:53more. So I'm going to I will be reaching back out sometime this year
- 53:00because I know you're not going to be where you are for long. So
- 53:07yeah, it's it's gonna be big. So I look forward to speaking to
- 53:14you again. Know that I love you and I'm proud of you, so
- 53:19proud of you and all that you put your thank you and all that you
- 53:23put your hands on. May it just glorify God continuously. But y'all,
- 53:31I thank you all for tuning in tonight, for delayed but not denied.
