- 0:10Speaker 1: Welcome to Girls Gone Hamemark, a Hallmark review podcast. I'm Agan,
- 0:14Speaker 1: and I'm a longtime homemark in. I'm Wendy. I'm a
- 0:16Speaker 1: former homework hater. We're back with another edition of the
- 0:20Speaker 1: Way Home mail Bag. This time we're talking all things
- 0:23Speaker 1: up to episode three. Y'all are on fire with your
- 0:29Speaker 1: mail bag submissions this week, so keep them coming. The
- 0:32Speaker 1: best way to do that going forward is to email
- 0:36Speaker 1: us hello at Girlsgnhalllmark dot com or send us a
- 0:39Speaker 1: voicemail nine four nine three two nine eight zero nine zero.
- 0:44Speaker 1: Do we have any voicemails this week? We do. I
- 0:47Speaker 1: just realize it's not in this that I have it.
- 0:50Speaker 1: I have it classic, and we're doing something a little
- 0:54Speaker 1: bit different with our format because there were so many
- 0:57Speaker 1: emails with so much great insight. We have organ your
- 1:01Speaker 1: comments around subject matter, so don't worry, we'll still be
- 1:05Speaker 1: crediting you, but rather than reading a full email about
- 1:07Speaker 1: five or six different points, we're interspersing them. So let
- 1:11Speaker 1: us know how you like this format. I wonder if
- 1:13Speaker 1: I was the writer inner, if I would be like,
- 1:15Speaker 1: excuse me, I would like all my flowers. I want
- 1:19Speaker 1: the read I know. I'm curious on feedback. But considering
- 1:24Speaker 1: the number of emails we got and all the plot
- 1:28Speaker 1: points we're talking about, I think this is this is
- 1:31Speaker 1: a good way to do it too. We'll see, we
- 1:34Speaker 1: shall see. Let us know, all right, First up, we're
- 1:36Speaker 1: going to talk some messages we got. Y'all. Lit us
- 1:39Speaker 1: up about two different subjects this week, And the first
- 1:41Speaker 1: one was the mistake I made about Kat's age. Aaron
- 1:47Speaker 1: writes in Kat is actually forty two forty three ish.
- 1:51Speaker 1: She was born in nineteen eighty three slash nineteen eighty four,
- 1:55Speaker 1: and Elliott confirmed he was left on the porch in
- 1:58Speaker 1: nineteen eighty three. She was fifteen or sixteen in the
- 2:02Speaker 1: nineteen ninety nine story arc. She gave birth to Alice.
- 2:06Speaker 1: In two thousand and eight. She found out she was
- 2:08Speaker 1: pregnant shortly after the Lingermore incident, which was Halloween two
- 2:13Speaker 1: thousand and seven. Yeah, I don't know why I thought
- 2:18Speaker 1: she got pregnant, like right out of high school. I
- 2:20Speaker 1: just had messed that story up. I don't even remember.
- 2:23Speaker 1: I remember, I remember the comment, but I don't remember
- 2:26Speaker 1: how old you thought she was. I thought she had
- 2:28Speaker 1: gotten pregnant right out of high school, like for some reason,
- 2:30Speaker 1: I was misremembering that, so I was saying, so that
- 2:32Speaker 1: was she was thirty six, but she has got Itlysa
- 2:36Speaker 1: also wrote in about Cat's age and wrote, Kat Elliott
- 2:40Speaker 1: are around forty three forty four present time. They graduated
- 2:44Speaker 1: high school in two thousand at seventeen slash eighteen. She
- 2:47Speaker 1: didn't have Alice until two thousand and eight, which means
- 2:50Speaker 1: she would have been twenty five twenty six in two
- 2:52Speaker 1: thousand and eight, and eighteen years from two thousand and
- 2:55Speaker 1: eight puts her around forty three or forty four. I
- 2:59Speaker 1: will I know a lot of people are saying they're
- 3:02Speaker 1: giving age ranges because up until now we haven't heard
- 3:06Speaker 1: Kat's actual birth year. This weekend we will get some
- 3:10Speaker 1: clarity on that, so I will boiler any further. Megan
- 3:15Speaker 1: and I have seen the episode heard this weekend, correct
- 3:18Speaker 1: and we get a lot of confirmation on this. Yes,
- 3:21Speaker 1: but y'all are right. I was absolutely wrong and I
- 3:24Speaker 1: own it. Next up, we have some comments about our
- 3:27Speaker 1: boy Elliott. Alyssa. Alissa says, I'm once again super annoyed
- 3:34Speaker 1: with Elliott. He's throwing a hissy fit about Dell keeping
- 3:36Speaker 1: secrets and putting this silent treatment against her he's in
- 3:39Speaker 1: his forties, like learn to productively communicate and not act
- 3:42Speaker 1: like a child. Yeah, someone's on my team. Alyssa goes
- 3:47Speaker 1: on to say in season four, episode one, he basically
- 3:49Speaker 1: screamed at everyone that his mom abandoned him and he
- 3:52Speaker 1: didn't care to find out anything else about her. Now
- 3:54Speaker 1: he's upset at people for not telling him things. Make
- 3:56Speaker 1: up your mind. Elliott jeesus, and Francisco says he's going
- 4:01Speaker 1: through something of an existential crisis. It seems dredging up
- 4:04Speaker 1: all these issues with his mom. I think they'll be
- 4:07Speaker 1: resolved by the end of the series. Though also I'm
- 4:10Speaker 1: obviously an Elliott fan, but he really needs to pop
- 4:12Speaker 1: the question. What are your thoughts on that? Popping the question? Yeah,
- 4:16Speaker 1: I'm not in any rush for that to happen, because
- 4:20Speaker 1: I know sometime has passed, but Cat and Elliot took
- 4:22Speaker 1: a long time to get to a comfortable, stable place
- 4:25Speaker 1: and they I don't think we're messing with the Cat
- 4:27Speaker 1: and Elliott relationship in this season. That's not my sense,
- 4:31Speaker 1: so I think I think, but it took them a
- 4:33Speaker 1: long time to get to that place, so I'm not
- 4:35Speaker 1: in any rush for that to happen. It'll happen this season.
- 4:37Speaker 1: I'm not in any rush either. However, if there's an
- 4:41Speaker 1: urgency to possibly have children, then that becomes like makes
- 4:45Speaker 1: it a rush situation, especially if she's forty two forty three.
- 4:49Speaker 1: But sure, No, I'm just like whatever you guys are together. Now.
- 4:54Speaker 1: As someone who has been married twenty five years, I'm like, oh,
- 4:57Speaker 1: what's the rush? Actually, my mindset is so different than
- 5:02Speaker 1: when I was twenty three, you know same. Honestly, if
- 5:08Speaker 1: I got married and divorced, and I don't know if
- 5:11Speaker 1: I would ever get married again, I would just happily
- 5:14Speaker 1: coexist my partner. I agree with you, But I think
- 5:18Speaker 1: about that all the time, like what's the advantage? And
- 5:20Speaker 1: then I'm that's like such like a pragmatic approach, like
- 5:23Speaker 1: there's no romance in it. But I think, why would
- 5:28Speaker 1: I do that again? I know, unless somebody came and
- 5:31Speaker 1: like really swept me off my feet, but like yeah,
- 5:34Speaker 1: and then maybe my mindset is different. But other you know,
- 5:38Speaker 1: like I kind of like my independence, and I says
- 5:41Speaker 1: the married woman, I know like my independence. I just
- 5:45Speaker 1: think like why do I want to share my money
- 5:47Speaker 1: with somebody? Why do I want to Yeah, we'll We'll
- 5:50Speaker 1: just be cool. I just want to, like, you know,
- 5:53Speaker 1: move next door to Meghan. You just, however, one big
- 5:58Speaker 1: backyard where dogs and run around. Totally. We're good. We
- 6:03Speaker 1: are good. I mean the thought I've given to that movie.
- 6:07Speaker 1: I'll be seeing you and you and I at a retirement.
- 6:10Speaker 1: He might be thinking about that, and I'm like, oh,
- 6:14Speaker 1: how does my husband play into this situation. He's not
- 6:16Speaker 1: even a factor? Oh man, all right? Moving back on
- 6:22Speaker 1: to the way home. Our next category is Elliott and
- 6:26Speaker 1: Kat slash kid discussion. Okay, Well, Alisa wrote in she
- 6:31Speaker 1: says Elliott bringing up kids with Kat right before he
- 6:34Speaker 1: was going to propose, as if they've never had this
- 6:37Speaker 1: discussion before, is crazy. Girl. You are almost in your
- 6:42Speaker 1: mid forties. You cannot delay this discussion too long. At
- 6:46Speaker 1: this point, they might need fertility treatments to have kids,
- 6:49Speaker 1: which from personal experience, is a long process. This is
- 6:53Speaker 1: an excellent point, it is. Jen wrote in she wrote,
- 6:57Speaker 1: very hallmark for Elliott to want to propose before discussing
- 7:00Speaker 1: whether or not they want a shared biological child. I
- 7:03Speaker 1: am glad that Kat said in this episode that it
- 7:06Speaker 1: was not something the door was closed on, but rather
- 7:09Speaker 1: something to discuss instead of dragging that out as a
- 7:13Speaker 1: source of tension between them. Though for the first time,
- 7:16Speaker 1: it does make me think that Kac could be their kid.
- 7:23Speaker 1: I know, I'm like pointing a finger in the air
- 7:27Speaker 1: right now. That is really interesting. Finally, Michelle wade in
- 7:35Speaker 1: she says in season three, episode ten, Alice goes back
- 7:38Speaker 1: to nineteen ninety nine where she plays the mash game
- 7:41Speaker 1: with Kat Elliott. Elliott tells Kat she will have one child.
- 7:46Speaker 1: She says, I hope it's a girl. Kat isn't having
- 7:49Speaker 1: more kids. Hmmm. This also brings me to the question
- 7:55Speaker 1: of I need to know was this entire storyline planned
- 8:01Speaker 1: out in loose details ahead of time or are we
- 8:06Speaker 1: just adding because that Shoe will have one kid. Works
- 8:11Speaker 1: really nicely for the Cat and Alice storyline, but as
- 8:14Speaker 1: we start building on it. Yeah, you know, a mash
- 8:18Speaker 1: game is not a blood prophecy. Sure, I mean, otherwise
- 8:23Speaker 1: I'd be living in a mansion with ten kids from
- 8:26Speaker 1: Tom Cruise or something. You know. Yeah, I don't know.
- 8:30Speaker 1: I think these are convenient points that happened in previous seasons.
- 8:36Speaker 1: Yeah that big fans remember and I don't, so, I
- 8:41Speaker 1: mean I remember it when they say it and you know,
- 8:43Speaker 1: I just I'm still very curious about Casey and what
- 8:47Speaker 1: their story is. And please come back on Monday after
- 8:51Speaker 1: our discussion of episode four and my frustration. Yeah, let's
- 8:55Speaker 1: take a ack break and we'll come right back to
- 8:57Speaker 1: talk about Fern. All right, y'all had some thoughts about Fern.
- 9:10Speaker 1: Aaron says, I think Ern is working with Cliff. She
- 9:12Speaker 1: seems to be very calculated in her moves after Cliff
- 9:15Speaker 1: tipped her off that there was going to be a raid.
- 9:18Speaker 1: Perhaps she drugged Cat to keep her safe somehow. Francisco says,
- 9:22Speaker 1: who would have thought happy to go? LOOKI Fern would
- 9:24Speaker 1: roofy someone. Fern is red flags for me, and I
- 9:28Speaker 1: hate that, but I'm hoping that changes along the way.
- 9:33Speaker 1: Jen says, I did not see Fern poisoning slash drugging
- 9:36Speaker 1: Cat coming. What a surprise. I wonder if Fern is
- 9:39Speaker 1: not as good or helpful as she seems, or if
- 9:42Speaker 1: this will end up being like Susannah being mean to
- 9:45Speaker 1: Cat last season and it turns out it's to protect Cat. Hmmm.
- 9:50Speaker 1: I could totally see that happening. Remind me something about
- 9:54Speaker 1: Susannah in just a moment. Okay, Michelle says the jury
- 9:58Speaker 1: is still out on Fern, but I think they're trying
- 10:00Speaker 1: to make us think badly of Fern to divert our
- 10:02Speaker 1: attention from something or someone else. We know that Cat
- 10:06Speaker 1: and Fern are filmed during the Silent Movie and seem
- 10:09Speaker 1: like friends. We also know that nineteen seventy four nineteen
- 10:12Speaker 1: seventy five Fern is happy to see Cat. We also
- 10:16Speaker 1: know from the preview for next week's episode that nineteen
- 10:18Speaker 1: seventy eight Fern is not happy to see nineteen seventy
- 10:22Speaker 1: eight Tessa. It's totally plausible that Fern is trying to
- 10:28Speaker 1: divert attention or keep Cats safe, but it's coming off
- 10:34Speaker 1: as very kind of classic homework with like a Red Herring, Right, sure,
- 10:39Speaker 1: are we missing something else? Maybe? What were your thoughts
- 10:42Speaker 1: on Susannah? So this is very loosely related, but in
- 10:46Speaker 1: one of the Way Home Facebook groups, someone posted a
- 10:48Speaker 1: screenshot that was posted by maybe Beyonca Melchior. I don't
- 10:52Speaker 1: remember it. It was like a quick little reel of
- 10:56Speaker 1: a bunch of the cast and it was like, I
- 10:58Speaker 1: think they were like watching episode three together and they
- 11:00Speaker 1: showed them coming in the door and the first scene
- 11:04Speaker 1: it's the actors who play Kat Young Fern and Susanna.
- 11:08Speaker 1: So maybe they're just friends with Susanna now because Susannah
- 11:12Speaker 1: was on the show. Oh yeah, then everyone was like,
- 11:15Speaker 1: is Susannah coming back for Suason four? Wow? How would
- 11:19Speaker 1: they be friends? How would they even know each other?
- 11:22Speaker 1: Like other than like Cat and Susannah were filming the
- 11:25Speaker 1: show together, like yeah, but Kyler Lee and yeah, yeah
- 11:28Speaker 1: I know that. But like was Fern in the photo too,
- 11:31Speaker 1: Fern yeaues Bianca was in the photo too, And it
- 11:34Speaker 1: could be just who knows, Like Kat could Kat, Kyler
- 11:38Speaker 1: could have introduced them, you know, or Kyler could have
- 11:42Speaker 1: just invited Susanna. Maybe she's local. I don't I don't
- 11:45Speaker 1: have any idea. There's no context to this. It's just
- 11:47Speaker 1: like a cute little and then the next scene is
- 11:49Speaker 1: like some of the younger characters and it's you know,
- 11:51Speaker 1: Tessa and Alice and got Evie. But anyway, I don't know.
- 11:55Speaker 1: I don't know what Susannah doing there. I don't know. Hmmm.
- 12:00Speaker 1: Michelle wrote in about Fern's song theory the her Riddle,
- 12:05Speaker 1: m Michelle wrotees, I have one other theory about Fern's
- 12:08Speaker 1: song twenty five. First to arrive twenty five, never tried,
- 12:12Speaker 1: sixty five, that they died sixty five, still alive. I
- 12:14Speaker 1: think it has something to do with Kat. She's named
- 12:17Speaker 1: me all the years that Kat the White Witch has
- 12:19Speaker 1: been spotted. It's like in season three, episode ten, when
- 12:23Speaker 1: Colton put it together. So I have no idea. My
- 12:27Speaker 1: brain in this current season has been twisted into knots
- 12:31Speaker 1: yeah over and over again. Look, this is just as
- 12:34Speaker 1: possible as anything else at this point, because they're not
- 12:36Speaker 1: they're not given us enough. So maybe yeah, and all
- 12:41Speaker 1: the numbers in this I know, I know that they
- 12:45Speaker 1: would be this age and they travel back to this
- 12:46Speaker 1: time and now they're the No. I just I almost
- 12:49Speaker 1: wonder if they're like, just just say it really fast
- 12:51Speaker 1: and they're not going to have time to focus on it,
- 12:53Speaker 1: and they're just gonna go with it. The reason I
- 12:55Speaker 1: like this theory is the Lingermore mural that Kat bumped
- 12:59Speaker 1: on when she was at the party with Fern and
- 13:02Speaker 1: the White Witch is in that. Something about the White
- 13:06Speaker 1: Witch lore I think has got to be coming back
- 13:09Speaker 1: into play. I'm sure so, yeah, I know. No. The
- 13:13Speaker 1: other thing y'all let us up about was our Tainted
- 13:17Speaker 1: Love commentary h here we go. Michelle says Tainted Love
- 13:23Speaker 1: is a song composed by Ed Cobb, formerly of the
- 13:25Speaker 1: American group The Four Preps, which was originally recorded by
- 13:28Speaker 1: Gloria Jones in nineteen sixty four. The nineteen eighty one
- 13:32Speaker 1: version of Soft Cell was a cover of that song.
- 13:35Speaker 1: M Lance says, I had no idea it was a
- 13:38Speaker 1: cover of a nineteen sixty four song, which raises lots
- 13:41Speaker 1: of fun questions for the show. Does it Lance White
- 13:48Speaker 1: throwing shade at Lance? I'm not throwing shade at Lance.
- 13:50Speaker 1: I'm just like, I feel so like, Oh my god,
- 13:54Speaker 1: that's just I thought I had it all figured out
- 13:57Speaker 1: last week, and then of course we get eighty emails
- 13:59Speaker 1: about no, this was actually a cover in eighty one
- 14:02Speaker 1: as well. So okay, go ahead? Is that Lance is
- 14:05Speaker 1: very much team Wendy in this one? Like I didn't
- 14:07Speaker 1: know either? Go ahead? Did Fern learn the eighties version
- 14:10Speaker 1: of the sixties version? Since it plays over a flashback
- 14:13Speaker 1: memory for Dell, does she know the song or was
- 14:15Speaker 1: it just used in the episode? Does set up Ferne's
- 14:17Speaker 1: performance was a Della goth mom in the eighties? We
- 14:20Speaker 1: raising yeah, just because it was originally at nineteen sixty
- 14:24Speaker 1: four song. Obviously, the soft cell version is the more
- 14:27Speaker 1: well known one, and it is the one that plays
- 14:29Speaker 1: on the show, so it's entirely possible that's the version
- 14:33Speaker 1: we're working with. But never mind, Michelle says, Tessa or
- 14:37Speaker 1: Griffin could have taught Ern this song in the twenties. Okay,
- 14:42Speaker 1: let me just sit with that for a second. Tessa
- 14:44Speaker 1: bur Griffin, Yeah, I guess, I guess they could. If
- 14:48Speaker 1: that's if that's where they jump, If if that's where
- 14:50Speaker 1: they jump, we do not know the answer to that question.
- 14:53Speaker 1: But our did they teach her the eighties version or
- 14:55Speaker 1: did they come through the nineteen sixty four version. Either
- 14:58Speaker 1: one would be fine because they left wows a oh.
- 15:04Speaker 1: The next subject matter is the Boulder and Stormy the horse.
- 15:09Speaker 1: Brittany wrote in She writes, there was a very prominent
- 15:12Speaker 1: feature in the setting that has been popping up in mini.
- 15:15Speaker 1: A scene a boulder. Alice finds tessa suitcase at its base.
- 15:20Speaker 1: Alice later hides behind it when she spots Lewis at
- 15:23Speaker 1: the picnic and Fern finds her there. Also, Stormy spooks
- 15:27Speaker 1: right when they're passing by the boulder. Perhaps there's a
- 15:31Speaker 1: person near the boulder hiding and Stormy heard them. Mmmm yeah,
- 15:37Speaker 1: I you know the boulder s it's at the base
- 15:39Speaker 1: of the trail that leads to the pond, right, Yes,
- 15:44Speaker 1: but it is kind of interesting that for me, back
- 15:48Speaker 1: when Alice was going to hide her little time capsule,
- 15:53Speaker 1: that's the place she chose and then found Tessa's suitcase.
- 15:57Speaker 1: The boulder never like stuck out to me prior to that.
- 16:01Speaker 1: But I know there has been some commentary about, like, oh,
- 16:03Speaker 1: that's where Alison Noah had to kiss her. I'm not
- 16:08Speaker 1: exactly sure the details, but not Noah nick oh nick. Yeah,
- 16:13Speaker 1: but someone had said, no, that boulder, like where Alice
- 16:17Speaker 1: was burying Tessa's suitcase, was by the cove. But it's
- 16:21Speaker 1: not because their kiss was by the cove. It wasn't
- 16:24Speaker 1: by the pond anyway. There was also someone who commented
- 16:27Speaker 1: that this is near the area where Jacob's shoes were found.
- 16:31Speaker 1: Oh just I always have to like pause and sit
- 16:33Speaker 1: here and like let this stuff process. Uh huh. Lindsay
- 16:38Speaker 1: also wrote in she writes the horse is back. Ah,
- 16:42Speaker 1: you called it, didn't it freak out right by the
- 16:45Speaker 1: rock where Alice found Tessa's suitcase. Yes, I believe that
- 16:48Speaker 1: is the same big Boulder rock in question. I just
- 16:51Speaker 1: like to point out that Lindsay's email was an all
- 16:54Speaker 1: caps subject line, you were right and just nothing makes
- 16:57Speaker 1: me happier. We're not right about much these but uh,
- 17:01Speaker 1: you know, the horse has some sort of meaning. You're
- 17:04Speaker 1: so funny, even this freaking horse. Every time I see
- 17:06Speaker 1: it's freaking horse. The horse is in this week's episode two,
- 17:10Speaker 1: and I'm like, freaking horse, Yeah, freaking horse, freaking horse.
- 17:15Speaker 1: All right, let's talk about the Pond and some time
- 17:17Speaker 1: travel rules. Aaron says, what's up with the rules? We know,
- 17:20Speaker 1: they all know them, say they can't break them. But
- 17:23Speaker 1: what happens if they break them? Nothing being known as
- 17:25Speaker 1: a rule breaker. Good point. Alissa says, not being able
- 17:30Speaker 1: to travel to the future is not just an Elliot rule.
- 17:33Speaker 1: The show has consistently shown us that the Pond does
- 17:35Speaker 1: not allow future time travel. Elliott in nineteen ninety nine
- 17:39Speaker 1: was not able to follow Alice to twenty twenty three.
- 17:42Speaker 1: Susannah and Thomas from eighteen fourteen and eighteen sixteen were
- 17:45Speaker 1: not able to follow cat slash Jacob to twenty twenty
- 17:48Speaker 1: four and twenty twenty five, respectively. I mean, but Elliott
- 17:52Speaker 1: is the one who articulated that, Yes, he's the one who,
- 17:59Speaker 1: based on Evan, has decided that that's the case, right exactly. Also,
- 18:05Speaker 1: I was wondering back to Aaron's email about like, what's
- 18:09Speaker 1: up the rules? Well, maybe like the Pond punishes them somehow,
- 18:12Speaker 1: if you know, the Ferns reach out and yeah, Mackham,
- 18:18Speaker 1: I've been thinking about this future time travel thing a lot,
- 18:20Speaker 1: and I'm I'm willing to allow that maybe future time
- 18:23Speaker 1: travel is going to be unlocked in this season, although
- 18:26Speaker 1: we were nearly halfway through and it is not. I
- 18:29Speaker 1: kind of like the idea that we're not messing with
- 18:32Speaker 1: future time travel, like we're just something about the title
- 18:36Speaker 1: of the show, just dealing with our past, the things
- 18:39Speaker 1: that have made us. It's interesting to me fair, Aaron
- 18:43Speaker 1: says nineteen twenty six. Fern says the pond has been
- 18:46Speaker 1: passed down parent to child for a long time. Why
- 18:50Speaker 1: did the passing down stop? Was it passed down to
- 18:53Speaker 1: Griffin who darted and Colton just wasn't told fully what
- 18:57Speaker 1: power the pond had because his dad was a wall Hmmm,
- 19:01Speaker 1: And Jen says Fern's great grandfather spoke of the pond
- 19:04Speaker 1: openly starting a tradition of it being passed down from
- 19:06Speaker 1: parent to child. This would mean that at least within
- 19:10Speaker 1: the family they talk about time travel. Maybe just Jacob's story,
- 19:13Speaker 1: even though they removed him from the almanac. See sometimes
- 19:18Speaker 1: when we get dialogue and Fern is telling us this
- 19:23Speaker 1: kind of stuff, right, sometimes I'm like, is this just
- 19:25Speaker 1: dialogue or is this something that I'm supposed to pay
- 19:29Speaker 1: attention to. Sure, my brain can't put it together in
- 19:33Speaker 1: terms of, like, you know, parent a child and then
- 19:36Speaker 1: where did the missing link go? You know, because oh
- 19:40Speaker 1: wait a second, well, oh wait a second, because if
- 19:44Speaker 1: oh hold on, hold on, Okay, I'm going to reserve
- 19:50Speaker 1: my thought, but I'm gonna have to write it down
- 19:52Speaker 1: because I'm going to circle back to it at some
- 19:55Speaker 1: point in the future. Okay, Next, we're talking about Sam
- 19:59Speaker 1: and Jacob, Alyssa says. Towards the end of the season
- 20:03Speaker 1: three episode finale, we saw Dell make a similar call
- 20:06Speaker 1: to Sam as Kat had with Elliott in the pilot episode.
- 20:10Speaker 1: She was saying that Jacob left and Sam was standing
- 20:13Speaker 1: by the pond, saying everything will be okay. He just
- 20:15Speaker 1: knows this is exactly what happened. In the pilot episode
- 20:19Speaker 1: with Kat and Elliott talking about Alice. Yeah, it's a
- 20:25Speaker 1: nice parallel, it is, Michelle writes in season three episode seven,
- 20:29Speaker 1: Damn Michelle with like the receipts throughout this.
- 20:35Speaker 2: I know.
- 20:36Speaker 1: In season three episode seven, Rita and Dell have a
- 20:39Speaker 1: conversation about Sam visiting his grandchildren. Rita tells Dell Sam
- 20:44Speaker 1: is going to Toronto to keep someone in prison from
- 20:47Speaker 1: getting out. I'm more concerned about who he wants to
- 20:50Speaker 1: keep in prison? Is it Griffin question mark? Hmm? Is
- 20:55Speaker 1: that where the letters are coming from? Hmm? In person,
- 21:02Speaker 1: I'm that could be a possibility. You know, the horse
- 21:05Speaker 1: in prison at this point, the horse typing the letters
- 21:15Speaker 1: for a new rote. My best theory is that Sam
- 21:17Speaker 1: used to be Evelyn's hippie poet husband. He probably sees
- 21:21Speaker 1: something he can't n see or feels indebted to the
- 21:23Speaker 1: Landrys because one of them saves his life or reputation
- 21:26Speaker 1: when he gets in over his head. I am gonna say,
- 21:30Speaker 1: I don't think we see Evelyn's hippie husband ash ever again,
- 21:35Speaker 1: we're done with him. I think. So it's just a
- 21:37Speaker 1: weirdo and it sets up Lewis being yep fatherless Yep, yeah,
- 21:43Speaker 1: I don't hate that theory. I don't hate that theory.
- 21:46Speaker 1: Let's let's play a voicemail.
- 21:49Speaker 2: Hey Megan A and Hey, Wendy is super fan Wayne,
- 21:52Speaker 2: and I'm happy that we can hang out together by
- 21:56Speaker 2: the pond again.
- 21:57Speaker 1: Episode three.
- 21:58Speaker 2: I feel like this one was really heavy into the
- 22:02Speaker 2: time travel ripple effects. We're starting to really kind of
- 22:05Speaker 2: feel it Alice going full circle when Fern says they're
- 22:09Speaker 2: growing up without you. She's realizing that the same thing
- 22:12Speaker 2: that happened in the nineties is happening in the seventies
- 22:15Speaker 2: and eventually she's got to stop visiting because she's still
- 22:17Speaker 2: going to be little baby Alice and they're going to
- 22:19Speaker 2: be old again. So this is agat little full circle
- 22:23Speaker 2: for her. And while all that's going on, Cat and
- 22:25Speaker 2: Elliott are like, hey, let's go to a cabin no notice,
- 22:29Speaker 2: middle of the crisis, while Alice is literally time traveling.
- 22:33Speaker 2: They're going to go away and get cut off. Only
- 22:35Speaker 2: those two make that decision, which, by the way, brings
- 22:39Speaker 2: me to Elliott Wendy. I am team Wendy on this.
- 22:44Speaker 2: This dude is struggling. I'm officially calling him TS Elliott
- 22:48Speaker 2: from now on for tantrums and spirals.
- 22:53Speaker 1: That's all it does.
- 22:54Speaker 2: So give me nineties Elliot all day long, adult Elliott.
- 22:58Speaker 2: He can't handle it right now. Meanwhile, the way Griffin
- 23:01Speaker 2: was totally clocking Alice running to the bond, and I
- 23:05Speaker 2: just I think he knows.
- 23:06Speaker 1: Way more than he's letting on.
- 23:08Speaker 2: He didn't mistakenly think that she was Dell. He knows
- 23:11Speaker 2: who she is because he's a part of the bigger picture,
- 23:14Speaker 2: I think eventually. But Kat, by the way, jumping in
- 23:17Speaker 2: with powered texting, what is that?
- 23:19Speaker 1: I've never heard that before in my life.
- 23:21Speaker 2: I lost it when she said it, and I have
- 23:23Speaker 2: no idea what that means. We get to Tainted Love?
- 23:27Speaker 2: Why is this not the title of the episode? We
- 23:29Speaker 2: got first singing tainted Love, and it completely threw me.
- 23:33Speaker 1: I was loving it.
- 23:34Speaker 2: I did not expect the twenties.
- 23:36Speaker 1: Twist on soft cell.
- 23:38Speaker 2: So the last couple of things Max with the line,
- 23:42Speaker 2: is this why you're always kind of damp? Oh my gosh,
- 23:46Speaker 2: finally somebody said it, and these people are walking around.
- 23:48Speaker 1: Wet all the time. It was the line of the episode.
- 23:51Speaker 2: I loved it. Everybody else is getting really sharp writing,
- 23:55Speaker 2: except my guy T S Eliot. Oh and then, by
- 23:57Speaker 2: the way, I'm calling out the same shot that everybody
- 24:00Speaker 2: else is calling. Tessa is definitely the fortune teller. We'll
- 24:03Speaker 2: find that out soon. In sam My hot take Sam
- 24:07Speaker 2: not secretly anybody. He's just Sam, but he's connected to
- 24:10Speaker 2: all of this somehow. So just mark my words, Sam
- 24:14Speaker 2: is just Sam. We're overthinking it. We're going to find
- 24:16Speaker 2: out who he is soon. And that's about it.
- 24:19Speaker 1: Love you guys, talk to you soon. Oh. My only
- 24:22Speaker 1: thought is power texting is something I've never heard either,
- 24:24Speaker 1: And I was like, I wonder if they meant to say,
- 24:28Speaker 1: like rage texting, but like Hallmark's like, mmm, you know,
- 24:32Speaker 1: because I feel like that's a term I'm familiar with. Sure,
- 24:36Speaker 1: but power texting, I don't. I don't what agree agree.
- 24:41Speaker 1: I would like to point out that Wayne mentioned something
- 24:43Speaker 1: that no, we didn't mention in last episode. I've had
- 24:50Speaker 1: it on my notes and I don't know why it
- 24:51Speaker 1: didn't come up. But when Griffin comes home when Alice
- 24:54Speaker 1: runs off, he does like a little bit of like
- 24:56Speaker 1: a nod when she runs into the woods, and it's
- 25:00Speaker 1: almost like, h a fellow time travel or at least
- 25:04Speaker 1: you know, I think we're operating under the belief that
- 25:07Speaker 1: Griffin was the one who traveled with Tessa. So I
- 25:10Speaker 1: thought it was interesting, that's all. Yeah. I don't think
- 25:12Speaker 1: he was like, where are you going. I think he
- 25:14Speaker 1: was like, I'll see what you're doing. I'll see you. Yeah. Yeah.
- 25:18Speaker 1: More emails about Griffin. Francisco writes, I was disappointed in
- 25:23Speaker 1: the Griffin reveal. We got what five minutes. I felt
- 25:26Speaker 1: we waited a week for nothing. We learned more about Tessa.
- 25:30Speaker 1: I agree, and it makes me wonder are they trying
- 25:35Speaker 1: to divert all our attention to Tessa when, like, Griffin
- 25:37Speaker 1: is really what we should be looking at. I was
- 25:41Speaker 1: disappointed too, like we don't get enough Griffin. It's all
- 25:43Speaker 1: Tessa all the time. Yeah. I wonder if it's going
- 25:46Speaker 1: to stay the case, if Griffin's going to be just
- 25:48Speaker 1: like this peripheral character, because it certainly has been up
- 25:51Speaker 1: to this point. They've referenced him a few times, but
- 25:54Speaker 1: until this episode, we really didn't know much about him. Yeah,
- 25:56Speaker 1: we've not this episode this season. Yeah, sure, definitely this season.
- 26:01Speaker 1: I mean, to this point in the series, we've barely
- 26:03Speaker 1: known anything about him, and then you know, this big
- 26:05Speaker 1: reveal and we get like three seconds, you know nothing.
- 26:09Speaker 1: Jen writes, interesting that the last anyone could find about
- 26:13Speaker 1: Griffin was in the early two thousands, So he was
- 26:17Speaker 1: around during Kat's life but didn't come to visit it seems.
- 26:21Speaker 1: I wonder if he found out about Colton's death and
- 26:24Speaker 1: didn't see a point of visiting or even leaving a
- 26:26Speaker 1: trace of himself in the present anymore. Yeah, why doesn't
- 26:31Speaker 1: Kat know him at all? Yeah, he was alive during
- 26:35Speaker 1: her lifetime, because Griffin didn't come around U till season three? Yeah? No,
- 26:42Speaker 1: I don't know if Griffin was talked about before season three.
- 26:44Speaker 1: I can't even remember at this point. So did Colton
- 26:48Speaker 1: have a brother? From the jump? I don't remember from
- 26:53Speaker 1: the jump? Okay, Brittany writes, Griffin looks absolutely nothing like
- 26:58Speaker 1: Errol Flynn, who was clean shaven and blonde. What might
- 27:02Speaker 1: Fern have meant by the swashbuckling comparison? Question mark, Fern
- 27:08Speaker 1: really wanted Alice to stay, and she seemed to be
- 27:11Speaker 1: hinting particularly strong at a family reunion when Alice begged off,
- 27:16Speaker 1: But Griffin looked very fondly towards Alice as she was
- 27:19Speaker 1: running away. Does he already know her? Good question? Finally,
- 27:26Speaker 1: Brittany wrote, has anyone floated the thought that Griffin and
- 27:29Speaker 1: Colton are twins? If not identical, then fraternal. My theory
- 27:34Speaker 1: is that they are the sons of Inspector Cliff Kane.
- 27:39Speaker 1: The sons. Well that's interesting because, oh, is that possible?
- 27:44Speaker 1: Fern is their grandmother? Right? Yes? So are they the
- 27:51Speaker 1: grandsons of inspector? Can't what my brain hurts? We don't
- 27:58Speaker 1: know their mom, right, No, we don't. And do we
- 28:02Speaker 1: know their dad? No? So you can Tessa and Griffin
- 28:08Speaker 1: any do you have any thoughts on this Griffin Colton
- 28:12Speaker 1: twin potential or that Inspector Caine is somehow their father? Well?
- 28:21Speaker 1: I don't understand how Inspector Kane could be their father
- 28:24Speaker 1: in the twenties unless he's a time traveler. Yeah, that
- 28:29Speaker 1: doesn't Yeah, that doesn't work for me. But maybe there's
- 28:31Speaker 1: something that I'm missing here. Could they be twins? Maybe? Maybe? Yeah?
- 28:35Speaker 1: I don't know. I don't know either. Jessica writes in
- 28:38Speaker 1: about the Clock and watches, She says we're forgetting that
- 28:43Speaker 1: Tessa or someone for her. Maybe Griffin left the clock
- 28:47Speaker 1: in the wall at the Augustine House at some point
- 28:50Speaker 1: long ago. Also Griffin gives a pocket watch to Colton.
- 28:55Speaker 1: Is he some sort of watch slash clockmaker or repair person?
- 28:58Speaker 1: This would link him to the clock as well. After all,
- 29:01Speaker 1: someone needs to know how to make it play at
- 29:03Speaker 1: eleven eleven. I definitely think, like the clocks in the
- 29:07Speaker 1: pocket watch, they need something. They mean something. I don't know.
- 29:14Speaker 1: I don't know. We are in the too many questions
- 29:18Speaker 1: phase of this for sure situation. For sure. Jen just
- 29:23Speaker 1: says you were right about it being eleven eleven and
- 29:25Speaker 1: the wishes. It also seems like Victor recognizes the clock
- 29:28Speaker 1: even before the eleven eleven reveal, but maybe not. No,
- 29:32Speaker 1: I think he got like eyes on it before. Did
- 29:34Speaker 1: it sound off yet? Yeah? I can't remember, Yes, I remember.
- 29:39Speaker 1: Next up is the Augustine Boye slash Grayson. Lindsey writes,
- 29:43Speaker 1: the Augie Boys said we got to get rid of them.
- 29:47Speaker 1: The boss don't want problems. We need to handle them tonight.
- 29:52Speaker 1: It sounded like them, and that's what my subtitle said
- 29:55Speaker 1: more than one person, and is Grayson their boss? Hey
- 29:59Speaker 1: shout out to a fellow subtitle watcher, Sir Yeah. Michelle wrote,
- 30:05Speaker 1: I think the Augie Boys are plotting to get rid
- 30:07Speaker 1: of Cliff or Grayson, Okay, totally plausible. And Jessica row,
- 30:13Speaker 1: is there some sort of connection there between the nineteen
- 30:16Speaker 1: twenty five Aggies and either Griffin or Tessa girl, I
- 30:20Speaker 1: don't know. I'm just a giant shrug emoji at this point.
- 30:22Speaker 1: I'm done, no too, I don't know. Let's talk about
- 30:26Speaker 1: Casey and the ring. Jen says, I think Casey will
- 30:30Speaker 1: be upset throw the ring in the pond and jump
- 30:33Speaker 1: in after it. I think it's clear that it shows
- 30:35Speaker 1: the future connection between Fern and Tessa, though I do
- 30:39Speaker 1: wonder if the bracelet is important enough to Fern that
- 30:41Speaker 1: if it were to fall into the pond she would
- 30:44Speaker 1: jump in after it. Jen comes back and says, I'll
- 30:48Speaker 1: come back to this, but I think Alice is going
- 30:50Speaker 1: to give Casey the ring because Alice is done with
- 30:53Speaker 1: time traveling and knows that Casey has that ahead of
- 30:57Speaker 1: them as what like proof to show who they are
- 31:01Speaker 1: or how they're connected. Well maybe, and because Alice has
- 31:03Speaker 1: seen Casey with the ring, Alice will know to give
- 31:06Speaker 1: them the ring, right right? I don't know. Once again,
- 31:15Speaker 1: I think the episode artwork for this should just be
- 31:17Speaker 1: a giant shrug emoji. Yeah, That's totally how I feel.
- 31:21Speaker 1: I'm like, I don't know. Can I just watch the
- 31:23Speaker 1: rest of this season find out at this point?
- 31:26Speaker 2: Right?
- 31:27Speaker 1: And I'm a little bit worried. To be completely honest,
- 31:31Speaker 1: are we going to get answers to all this stuff satisfactory? Lensa,
- 31:34Speaker 1: I don't know. I don't know, because if I could
- 31:38Speaker 1: jump on my soapbox for a second, I feel considering
- 31:43Speaker 1: we've seen episode four and I feel like at this
- 31:50Speaker 1: point in the season, like the writers did not know
- 31:53Speaker 1: their series was coming to an end, and now knowing
- 31:58Speaker 1: that with that perspective, I feel like, I'm like, what
- 32:01Speaker 1: is happening? What is happening? Like we're not getting the
- 32:04Speaker 1: closure that I would be expecting. Right, So that's okay.
- 32:10Speaker 1: Let's talk about Tessa. Aaron writes, Tessa seems to hesitate
- 32:14Speaker 1: when asked what brought her to Port Haven. I wonder
- 32:17Speaker 1: if Tessa's part of one of the three founding families.
- 32:21Speaker 1: She told Alice she felt a connection to Port Haven
- 32:23Speaker 1: and she was a fellow wayward soul. Jen writes, Do
- 32:26Speaker 1: we think Tessa made it back to the present to
- 32:28Speaker 1: get sick and die or was she stuck in the
- 32:31Speaker 1: past and just was able to get a letter to
- 32:33Speaker 1: the future, maybe with the help of Alice the messenger. Hmmm,
- 32:39Speaker 1: that's interesting. Yeah, I would think it would be weird if, like,
- 32:45Speaker 1: I don't think Tessa's dead. Yeah, if they killed Tessa
- 32:47Speaker 1: somewhere not killed to go through all of this, Yeah,
- 32:51Speaker 1: Urt just be dead. Yeah, don't love it. Yeah, let's
- 32:55Speaker 1: talk about Alice. Brittany says. Alice never seems to be
- 32:57Speaker 1: appreciating the moment she's already in, but is longing for
- 32:59Speaker 1: the past past and grieving it. Yeah. I would agree
- 33:03Speaker 1: that Alice lives a richer life in the past than
- 33:05Speaker 1: she does in the present. Yeah, that's so sad.
- 33:08Speaker 2: Mm hmm.
- 33:09Speaker 1: Francisco says, once again, she makes friends in the past
- 33:11Speaker 1: and has to abandon them. The issues seem different here
- 33:13Speaker 1: than in previous seasons as well. Not only are ev
- 33:16Speaker 1: dell and Colton aging, but their lives are going through
- 33:18Speaker 1: massive changes. Evie is a mom and Dellan Colton are
- 33:21Speaker 1: having trouble having a child. These are real adult issues
- 33:24Speaker 1: a teen can't completely relate to, and Jen says, I
- 33:28Speaker 1: wonder if its just setting her up for being ready
- 33:31Speaker 1: to go away to college and actually moving on from
- 33:34Speaker 1: time traveling. They're all good thoughts. I don't. I think
- 33:38Speaker 1: as long as this show exists, time traveling exists. And
- 33:41Speaker 1: so if we were to get a season five and
- 33:43Speaker 1: Alice were to go to college, the Gilmore Girls handled
- 33:46Speaker 1: Rory going to college very well, I think, in the
- 33:49Speaker 1: sense that they were able to keep the show going
- 33:51Speaker 1: without their two main characters living in the same place.
- 33:54Speaker 1: So I would I would like to think that where
- 33:57Speaker 1: there's a way home, Alice is still time traveling for sure.
- 34:02Speaker 1: Alice the one, the one. Let's talk about Vic. Wow,
- 34:08Speaker 1: is this the first time Vic has ever made the
- 34:10Speaker 1: mail bag? No, because he's such a jerk, We've gotten
- 34:13Speaker 1: it before. Jen writes, Is it making me feel sorry
- 34:17Speaker 1: or maybe even sympathetic towards Victor Augustine? I think the
- 34:21Speaker 1: episode ends with me feeling sympathy for him, but it
- 34:24Speaker 1: was still on him the adult, to be there for
- 34:27Speaker 1: Elliott in ways we know he was not very true,
- 34:32Speaker 1: very true. I felt. That's how I felt at the
- 34:34Speaker 1: end of episode three two. I was like, I feel
- 34:36Speaker 1: sad for Vic, but he was terrible. He was terrible.
- 34:40Speaker 1: You have to be the parent in this situation. Yeah,
- 34:42Speaker 1: and yeah, I don't care if you're hurt too. You
- 34:46Speaker 1: gotta book up. Lindsay writes, I was glad that Dell
- 34:50Speaker 1: at least called Vic out at the very beginning of
- 34:52Speaker 1: their conversation for not delivering the letter from Kat all
- 34:55Speaker 1: those years ago that literally impacted their entire life. Yeah. Yeah,
- 35:02Speaker 1: it's nice when there's like these very small like callback
- 35:08Speaker 1: like even in that episode when she's like they sat
- 35:11Speaker 1: down to dinner and she's like, not a dry biscuit
- 35:13Speaker 1: on a table or whatever, which is a callback to
- 35:15Speaker 1: an insult he gave to her at one point about
- 35:19Speaker 1: her dry biscuit. Oh yeah, So I love when there's like,
- 35:23Speaker 1: I wouldn't eat your dry biscuit, del Landry. Yeah, exactly,
- 35:27Speaker 1: exactly nice. Brittany writes in with a theory about the wedding.
- 35:31Speaker 1: She says, I don't believe that the wedding teas in
- 35:32Speaker 1: the Way Home season four, episode one is actually Elliott
- 35:35Speaker 1: and Kat's. My best guess is that it may be
- 35:37Speaker 1: sam Bishop and Delilah's wedding. Oh well, who were they hoping?
- 35:42Speaker 1: Was there for that? I don't know, Jacob, But why
- 35:46Speaker 1: are they looking at the pond Jacobs in Toronto? I
- 35:51Speaker 1: think they're coming back from somewhere next we have It
- 35:54Speaker 1: Happened when Brittany writes, I highly recommend that you both
- 35:57Speaker 1: watch Frank Capra's It Happened one Night. It will illuminate
- 36:01Speaker 1: the whole leg bearing to the hitchhike scenes. I'm absolutely
- 36:06Speaker 1: certain there will be lots of parallels with Capra's film,
- 36:09Speaker 1: as there already have been loads. We didn't talk about
- 36:13Speaker 1: that at all last week with like cat and for
- 36:17Speaker 1: trying to hitchhike basically by right showing their sexy legs.
- 36:23Speaker 1: I've never seen it happen one night, have you never?
- 36:26Speaker 1: And it's interesting that that there's parallels. You know. Look,
- 36:31Speaker 1: I'm freaking watching The Count of Monte Cristo right now
- 36:33Speaker 1: because it was reference in a Hallmark movie, So anything
- 36:36Speaker 1: is possible. On my check out, it happened one night,
- 36:39Speaker 1: all right. We have a couple comments on the pace
- 36:40Speaker 1: of the episode. Brittany says this episode seemed to be
- 36:43Speaker 1: rushing through time like crazy, almost like they stuffed three
- 36:46Speaker 1: or four episodes into one. A men, Brittany and Lindsay
- 36:50Speaker 1: says every second counts, which makes episodes go by too fast.
- 36:53Speaker 1: Don't blink or you'll literally miss clues. Yeah, try taking
- 36:57Speaker 1: notes throughout it takes me two hours to watch a
- 37:01Speaker 1: forty five minute episode. Well that is a wrap on
- 37:05Speaker 1: your comments for this week's Listener mail bag. Hey, keep
- 37:08Speaker 1: them coming. Hello at Girls Gone Homemark dot com nine
- 37:11Speaker 1: four nine nine eight zero nine zero. We'll be back
