- 0:00Why did you stop? I am asking you directly.
- 0:02You who are listening to me now. Why did you stop?
- 0:05You heard the law, You understood it.
- 0:07You took your desire. You held it in imagination.
- 0:10You felt it real, perhaps for one night, perhaps for several
- 0:13nights, perhaps even for a few glorious weeks.
- 0:16And then you stopped. You abandoned the very thing you
- 0:19claimed you wanted most. And now you sit here, months
- 0:22later, perhaps years later, still wanting it, still aching
- 0:26for it, still carrying the hollow weight of it in your
- 0:29chest. And you, you have convinced
- 0:30yourself that it did not work. But I ask you again, and I want
- 0:34you to feel the weight of this question settle into you like a
- 0:37stone dropped into Stillwater. Why did you stop?
- 0:41You did not fail. You quit.
- 0:43There is a vast and critical difference between the two.
- 0:46And until you understand that difference, deep in the marrow
- 0:49of your being, you will repeat this cycle for the rest of your
- 0:53life. You will hear a teaching.
- 0:55You will try it for a few days. You will look at your world and
- 0:58see no evidence of change, and you will walk away shaking your
- 1:01head, saying it was all fantasy, all wishful thinking, all
- 1:05nonsense spun by dreamers and fools.
- 1:08And then six months later, the egg returns.
- 1:11Because the desire never left you.
- 1:13It cannot leave you. It was planted in you by
- 1:16imagination itself, and imagination does not plant
- 1:19desires it cannot fulfill. Every hunger of the heart is a
- 1:23prophecy. Every longing is a promise, and
- 1:25when you abandoned your assumption, you did not destroy
- 1:28the promise, you simply delayed its fulfillment and you added
- 1:32another layer of suffering to a life that was never meant to
- 1:35suffer at all. I tell you from my own
- 1:38experience, every desire that has ever burned in your heart
- 1:41was placed there because it is already yours in the deeper
- 1:44reality. It exists now, complete,
- 1:47finished, actual, in the 4th dimension of your being.
- 1:51It is as real as the chair you are sitting in, more real,
- 1:55because the chair will one day decay and be forgotten.
- 1:58But the reality of your fulfillment filled desire exists
- 2:01in eternity. The only question, the only
- 2:04question that has ever mattered, is whether you will persist long
- 2:07enough for it to crystallize into this world of shadow and
- 2:10form. And most of you, I say this with
- 2:13love, but also with the firm authority of one who has
- 2:16witnessed it thousands of times across decades of teaching.
- 2:20Most of you will not persist, not because you cannot, not
- 2:24because the law does not work, not because you are unworthy or
- 2:27undeserving or somehow excluded from the operation of this
- 2:31principle, but because you have been trained by a world of
- 2:34appearances to trust only what your senses report.
- 2:37And your senses are always, without exception, reporting
- 2:41yesterday's assumptions. So tonight I am not going to
- 2:44give you a new technique. I am not going to introduce some
- 2:47clever method you have never heard, some secret shortcut that
- 2:51will bypass the work of persistence.
- 2:54I am going to tell you the truth about what happens in the gap,
- 2:57that sacred and terrifying space between the moment you assume
- 3:01the wish fulfilled and the moment it crystallizes in your
- 3:05outer world. Because it is in that gap that
- 3:07every dream is either born or buried.
- 3:10And you, my friend, have been burying yours.
- 3:13But not tonight. Tonight you stop burying.
- 3:16Tonight you begin again. Let me tell you what I promise
- 3:19you. If you stay with me through this
- 3:21hour, you will understand why doubt appears not as your enemy,
- 3:25but as the very friction that polishes your assumption into
- 3:29diamond hardness. You will understand the three
- 3:31distinct phases through which every assumption must pass
- 3:35before it hardens into fact. You will understand why the
- 3:38world seems to resist you most fiercely at the exact moment
- 3:42your assumption is closest to crystallizing.
- 3:45And you will leave here tonight with a practice, a simple daily
- 3:49practice, that will carry you through the gap without losing
- 3:52your footing. More than that, you will
- 3:55understand yourself. You will understand why you
- 3:57stopped, and you will understand why you never need to stop
- 4:01again. I am Neville, and I have taught
- 4:03this law for decades. Not from theory, not from books
- 4:06I read in some library, not from the speculations of philosophers
- 4:10or the systems of theologians, but from the living, breathing,
- 4:14tested experience of my own consciousness.
- 4:17I discovered, through my own trials and my own failures and
- 4:21my own stubborn, sometimes desperate persistence, that
- 4:25consciousness is the only reality.
- 4:27The only reality there is or ever was or ever will be.
- 4:31That the world you see around you, every person, every
- 4:34circumstance, every condition, every seemingly immovable
- 4:38obstacle, is nothing more than your own consciousness pushed
- 4:42out, hardened into form by the assumptions you have held long
- 4:45enough for them to take root. I did not come to this
- 4:48understanding easily. There were years when I assumed
- 4:52and saw nothing change. There were months when I doubted
- 4:55everything I had been taught by my teacher, Abdullah.
- 4:58There were dark nights when I lay in bed, holding the feeling
- 5:01of the wish fulfilled with every fiber of my being, and the next
- 5:05morning woke to find the same Baron in different worlds
- 5:09staring back at me as though I had done nothing at all.
- 5:12But I persisted. Not because I was stronger than
- 5:15you, not because I had some gift you lack, not because I was made
- 5:19of different clay, but because I understood something that most
- 5:23people never grasp, something that most people are never told.
- 5:27I understood that the delay between assumption and
- 5:29crystallization is not a sign that the law has failed.
- 5:33It is the law working. The delay is the process.
- 5:36The gap is the gestation, and the gestation is sacred.
- 5:40And so I say to you now, the most important thing you will
- 5:43ever learn about the law of assumption is not how to assume.
- 5:47That is simple. A child can do it.
- 5:50A child does it every day without instruction.
- 5:53The most important thing is how to persist in your assumption.
- 5:56When every fact in your world is screaming that it is not true.
- 6:00When every voice of reason and common sense tells you to give
- 6:03up. When the very people you love
- 6:05look at you with concern and say be realistic.
- 6:09That is where the teaching lives.
- 6:11That is where the power is. And that is what I will give you
- 6:14tonight. Now let me lay the foundation
- 6:16for everything that follows, because if you do not understand
- 6:19the nature of this gap, this interval between assuming and
- 6:23seeing, you will always be at the mercy of appearances, tossed
- 6:27about by every wind of circumstance, abandoning your
- 6:30assumptions at the first sign of contradiction.
- 6:33When you assume the feeling of the wish fulfilled, you are not
- 6:36engaging in fantasy. You are not pretending.
- 6:39You are not playing a game with your own mind to trick yourself
- 6:43into feeling better about a situation that has not changed.
- 6:47You are performing the most creative act available to a
- 6:50human being. You are occupying a state of
- 6:52consciousness, and the state state you occupy determines the
- 6:56world you see. Let me say that again, because
- 6:58your mind will try to slide past it as though it were merely a
- 7:02pleasant idea rather than the most radical truth ever uttered.
- 7:06The state you occupied determines the world you see,
- 7:09not the other way around, not ever the other way around.
- 7:13The world does not determine your state.
- 7:15Your state determines your world.
- 7:17This is the fundamental inversion, the great reversal
- 7:21that separates those who use the law successfully from those who
- 7:24abandoned it after a week. Most people live their entire
- 7:28lives in reaction. Something happens in their world
- 7:31and they respond. They feel good when
- 7:34circumstances are favorable. They feel bad when circumstances
- 7:38are unfavorable. They are thermometers, reading
- 7:41the temperature of the room and adjusting accordingly.
- 7:44But I am asking you to be a thermostat.
- 7:46I am asking you to set the temperature.
- 7:48I am asking you to determine the climate of your own experience
- 7:52by choosing your state of consciousness deliberately and
- 7:55then holding it, persisting in it, regardless of what the
- 7:58thermometer says. When you assume a new state,
- 8:01when you feel yourself to be the person who already has what you
- 8:05desire, you have in that moment, planted a seed in the soil of
- 8:09your own deeper consciousness. That seed is real, it is alive.
- 8:14It has its own intelligence, its own trajectory, its own
- 8:17appointed hour of emergence. But like every seed ever planted
- 8:21in the history of creation, it requires a period of darkness.
- 8:26It requires a period in which nothing visible is happening
- 8:29above the surface. The farmer who plants corn in
- 8:32April does not dig up the seed on the 5th day to check if it is
- 8:36growing. He does not stand over the soil
- 8:39with his hands on his hips, demanding that the stalk appear
- 8:42by Thursday. He trusts the process.
- 8:45He trusts the soil. He trusts the law of growth that
- 8:48governs all living things. He waters, he waits, and he
- 8:51knows. But you when you plant your
- 8:54assumption in consciousness, you dig it up every morning.
- 8:57You dig it up by opening your eyes and immediately scanning
- 9:00your world for evidence. Where is it?
- 9:03Why has nothing changed? Did I do it wrong?
- 9:05Was I not feeling it deeply enough?
- 9:08Should I try a different scene? Should I add more detail?
- 9:11Should I repeat the ACT more times?
- 9:13And every time you dig up that seed, every time you leave the
- 9:16state of the wish fulfilled and returned to the state of
- 9:19seeking, of checking, of waiting for proof, you interrupt the
- 9:23very process by which your assumption was becoming a living
- 9:26fact. I tell you, the gap between
- 9:29assumption and it's crystallization in your world is
- 9:32not empty. It is full.
- 9:34It is teeming with invisible activity.
- 9:36The bridge of incidents is being constructed.
- 9:39People you have never met are being moved into position.
- 9:43Circumstances you could not have planned are being arranged with
- 9:46a precision that would stagger you if you could see it.
- 9:49Those you did not know existed are being unlocked.
- 9:53Conversations you will not you have for weeks or months are
- 9:55being seeded in the minds of strangers.
- 9:58But all of this is happening beneath the surface, in the 4th
- 10:01dimension of reality, the dimension of imagination, the
- 10:05dimension of cause and your physical world.
- 10:08This three-dimensional stage of effect is always, always, always
- 10:13the last to know. So when you assume and then see
- 10:15no change, you are not seeing evidence that the law has
- 10:19failed. You are seeing the natural,
- 10:21inevitable delay inherent in the process by which cause becomes
- 10:25effect. You are seeing the time it takes
- 10:27for the unseen to become seen, for the imagined to become
- 10:31actual, for the spiritual to clothe itself in material form.
- 10:35And if you understood this truly, if you let it sink below
- 10:38the level of intellectual agreement and into the bedrock
- 10:41of your being, you would never again be troubled by the gap.
- 10:45You would rest in it. You would trust it.
- 10:47You would even welcome it as the evidence, the only evidence you
- 10:51need, that the process is working exactly as it it should.
- 10:55Now, before I go further into the depths of this teaching, I
- 10:58want you to consider something that may surprise you.
- 11:01Think about the last time you truly persisted in anything in
- 11:05your life. Perhaps it was learning to drive
- 11:07an automobile. Do you remember the first week
- 11:10behind the wheel? The awkwardness, the fear, the
- 11:13absolute certainty that you would never be able to do this
- 11:16complex thing that other people seem to do without thinking?
- 11:20And yet you persisted, day after day, and one morning you drove
- 11:24to work and realized you had not thought about driving at all.
- 11:28The skill had crystallized. It had passed from conscious
- 11:31effort to unconscious competence, not because you
- 11:34wished it into being, but because you persisted through
- 11:37the gap between not knowing and knowing, between awkwardness and
- 11:41mastery. Or perhaps it was a
- 11:43relationship. Perhaps there was someone in
- 11:45your life who did not immediately warm to you.
- 11:48And you persisted not with force, not with manipulation,
- 11:52but with the quiet, steady assumptions that the
- 11:54relationship would deepen. And it did, not on your
- 11:57timeline, not according to your plan, but it did.
- 12:01Because persistence in an assumption is the one force in
- 12:04this universe that the world cannot resist indefinitely.
- 12:07That is faith. That is persistence.
- 12:10And that is exactly what the law of assumption requires of you.
- 12:14Nothing more, nothing less. Simply persist, and the world
- 12:18must yield. Now let us turn to the heart of
- 12:20what I wish to share with you tonight.
- 12:22And it is this, the nature of doubt itself.
- 12:25What is doubt? Where does it come from, and why
- 12:28does it appear with such savage ferocity at the very moment you
- 12:32begin to assume a new state? Most people believe that doubt
- 12:36is a sign of failure. They believe that if they were
- 12:39truly living in the end, if they were truly occupying the state
- 12:42of the wish fulfilled with complete conviction, they would
- 12:45feel no doubt at all. They would be serene and
- 12:48confident and unshakable in their assumption from the very
- 12:52first moment, like a monk on a mountain untouched by the storms
- 12:56below. And when doubt appears, as it
- 12:58always does, as it must always do, they take it as proof that
- 13:02they are doing something wrong. That they have not assumed
- 13:05correctly, that there is some flaw in their technique, that
- 13:09the law is not working for them, that perhaps they are the one
- 13:12person in all of creation for whom this law does not apply.
- 13:16But I tell you, doubt is not a sign of failure.
- 13:19Doubt is a sign of transition. Doubt is the friction that
- 13:22arises when you attempt to move from one state of consciousness
- 13:26to another. It is the old state resisting
- 13:28its own death. It is the former assumption
- 13:31fighting to maintain its grip on your consciousness.
- 13:34And it is as natural and as inevitable as the pain a snake
- 13:38feels when shedding its skin. The snake does not conclude that
- 13:41something has gone wrong when the old skin tears and pulls.
- 13:45It does not rush to the doctor. It does not seek a new method of
- 13:49shedding. It simply endures the discomfort
- 13:52and emerges, glistening and new, you on the other side.
- 13:56Think of it this way. You have been occupying a
- 13:58certain state of consciousness for months, perhaps years.
- 14:02Perhaps your entire life. You have been the person who
- 14:05lacks this thing, who needs this thing, who wants this thing but
- 14:08does not have it. That state has become familiar
- 14:11to you. It has become comfortable, not
- 14:14because it is pleasant, for it is often deeply unpleasant, but
- 14:18because it is known. It is predictable.
- 14:20It is yours. And the mind, I tell you, will
- 14:23choose the familiar familiar over the pleasant every single
- 14:26time, unless you consciously, deliberately, persistently
- 14:30override it. When you assume a new state,
- 14:33when you begin to feel yourself as the person who already has
- 14:36what you desire, you are attempting to kill the old
- 14:39state. You are attempting to vacate a
- 14:41home you have lived in for years, to walk out the door and
- 14:44never return. And the old state does not want
- 14:47to die. No state wants to die.
- 14:49It screams. It protests.
- 14:52It sends doubt rushing through your mind like water through a
- 14:55broken dam. It whispers to you in the quiet
- 14:58moments before sleep, in the vulnerable hours of early
- 15:01morning, in the middle of the afternoon, when your defenses
- 15:05are low. It whispers, Who are you
- 15:07fooling? Look at your bank account.
- 15:09Look at your body. Look at your circumstances.
- 15:12Look at the cold, hard evidence spread out before you like a
- 15:15prosecutor's case. This is fantasy.
- 15:18You are deluding yourself. Go back to what you know.
- 15:21Go back to what is safe. Go back to what is.
- 15:24It's real. That voice is not your voice.
- 15:27I want you to hear me clearly on this point because it is one of
- 15:30the most important things I will ever tell you.
- 15:33That voice of doubt is not your voice.
- 15:35It is the voice of the state you are leaving.
- 15:38It is the death cry of an identity that is being replaced,
- 15:41and the louder it screams, the closer you are to leaving it
- 15:45behind. The intensity of the doubt is
- 15:47directly proportional to the proximity of the breakthrough.
- 15:51I had a student once, a woman named Margaret, who came to my
- 15:55lectures in New York. For several months.
- 15:58She had been assuming a new state for six weeks.
- 16:01She wanted to be married. She was 43 years old and had
- 16:04never been married, and she had begun to accept, somewhere deep
- 16:08in the marrow of her being, that she never would be.
- 16:11But she heard my teaching, and something in her awakened.
- 16:15She began assuming the feeling of being a wife.
- 16:17Every night she fell asleep feeling the ring on her finger,
- 16:21hearing the breathing of her husband beside her, feeling the
- 16:24way and warmth of another body in the bed.
- 16:27She did this faithfully for six weeks.
- 16:29And for six weeks nothing happened.
- 16:31No man appeared, no invitation to dinner, no chance encounter
- 16:35on the street. Nothing moved, nothing changed.
- 16:39The world was as silent and indifferent as stone.
- 16:42And then, in the 7th week, the doubt hit her like a physical
- 16:45blow. She told me she could barely get
- 16:48through her days. Every thought was poisoned with
- 16:51the conviction that she was fooling herself.
- 16:53She said she felt ridiculous, a 43 year old woman lying in bed
- 16:58pretending to be married. She said she was embarrassed to
- 17:01even continue the imaginal act. She wanted to quit.
- 17:05She was ready to quit. She had already half quit in her
- 17:08heart. I told her, Margaret, you are
- 17:10closer now than you have ever been.
- 17:12The doubt you feel is the death rattle of your old state.
- 17:15It is fighting for its life because it can feel itself being
- 17:19replaced by something stronger, something truer, something more
- 17:23alive. Do not negotiate with it.
- 17:25Do not argue with it. Do not try to convince it that
- 17:28you are right and it is wrong. Simply persist.
- 17:31Go to sleep tonight in exactly the way you have been going to
- 17:34sleep for six weeks. Change nothing, add nothing,
- 17:38subtract nothing. Simply persist.
- 17:40She persisted. 3 weeks later she met a man at a gathering she
- 17:44almost did not attend because the doubt had told her there was
- 17:48no point in going. Within four months she was
- 17:51married. The very force that almost made
- 17:53her quit, the doubt that seemed so overwhelming, so rational, so
- 17:58final, was the signal that her assumption was crystallizing.
- 18:02But she could not see that. She could not know that, because
- 18:05the crystallization of assumption happens beneath the
- 18:08surface, invisible to the senses, and the doubt that
- 18:11arises is simply the turbulence created by two states of
- 18:15consciousness colliding, the old state and the new, fighting for
- 18:19dominion over her experience. You must understand this with
- 18:23your whole being. Doubt is not evidence that the
- 18:25law is not working. Doubt is evidence that the law
- 18:29is working so powerfully that your old state can feel itself
- 18:33being displaced. And what you do with that doubt,
- 18:36how you respond to it in the critical moment of its arrival,
- 18:39determines everything. It determines whether you become
- 18:42Margaret the wife or Margaret the woman who almost was.
- 18:46Here is what you must not do. You must not fight the doubt.
- 18:50You must not try to push it away with force, or argue with it
- 18:53using logic, or replace it with cheerful affirmations and forced
- 18:57optimism. That is not what I teach.
- 19:00I've never taught that, and I never will.
- 19:03I do not teach you to think pleasant thoughts until reality
- 19:06cooperates. I teach you to assume
- 19:08differently. There is a world of difference
- 19:10between the two, and confusing them has LED more people astray
- 19:15than almost any other error in this work.
- 19:17Forced optimism is the conscious mind trying to override reality
- 19:21with willpower. It is exhausting, It is is
- 19:24brittle, it breaks at the first challenge.
- 19:27Assumption is something else entirely.
- 19:29Assumption is consciousness occupying a new state, settling
- 19:33into it, resting in it, becoming it, until that state is the only
- 19:37reality the deeper mind knows. So when doubt comes, and it will
- 19:41come, let it pass through you like wind through an open
- 19:45window. Do not close the window, do not
- 19:47board it up, do not try to build a wall against the wind.
- 19:51Let it blow, feel it, acknowledge it, and then when it
- 19:54has passed and it always passes, return to your assumption,
- 19:58return to the feeling of the wish fulfilled.
- 20:01Return to the state you have chosen to occupy.
- 20:04That is persistence, not the absence of doubt, never the
- 20:07absence of doubt, but the decision made again and again
- 20:11and again to return to your assumption after doubt has
- 20:14visited you and found you unshakable.
- 20:17Now I want to pause here and tell you something that will
- 20:20sharpen everything I have said so far, something that connects
- 20:23the nature. Of doubt, to the deeper
- 20:25mechanics of how assumption becomes fact.
- 20:28Because what I am about to share will change the way you
- 20:31understand the entire process. Every assumption you hold in
- 20:35consciousness passes through three distinct phases before it
- 20:39crystallizes in your world. I call these phases planting,
- 20:43germination, and harvest. And each phase has its own
- 20:46character, its own challenges, its own particular form of
- 20:50doubt, and its own particular temptation to quit.
- 20:54The first phase is planting. This is the moment you first
- 20:57assume the feeling of the wish fulfilled.
- 20:59This is the night you first lie down in your bed, close your
- 21:03eyes, enter the state akin to sleep, and feel yourself to be
- 21:07the person you intend to become. You feel the ring on your
- 21:10finger. You feel the letter of
- 21:12acceptance in your hands. You feel the handshake of the
- 21:15business partner. You hear the words of
- 21:17congratulation. You smell the air of the new
- 21:20city. You feel the warmth of the home
- 21:23you desire in this phase everything feels exciting and
- 21:26electric. Everything feels possible.
- 21:29You are thrilled by the discovery or the rediscovery of
- 21:32this magnificent law. You feel the power of your own
- 21:36imagination for the first time in perhaps years and it
- 21:39intoxicates you. You think, why did I ever doubt
- 21:42this? Why did I ever stop believing?
- 21:45This is the most natural, the most obvious, the most
- 21:48self-evident truth I have ever encountered.
- 21:51There is very little doubt in this phase because the novelty
- 21:54and the vividness of the experience carry you forward on
- 21:57their own momentum. But the planting phase is also
- 22:00the most dangerous phase because it is here that most people make
- 22:04a critical and usually fatal error.
- 22:07They plant the seed and then they immediately begin watching
- 22:10for the harvest. They assume tonight and tomorrow
- 22:13morning. They look out the window for
- 22:15results. They assume for three nights
- 22:17running and by the 4th day they are scanning their world with
- 22:20the desperate, hungry eyes of someone looking for proof, for
- 22:24confirmation, for any scrap of evidence that the law is
- 22:27working. They look at their phone
- 22:29expecting the call. They check their e-mail
- 22:32expecting the offer. They watch the faces of
- 22:34strangers for some sign, some signal, some acknowledgement
- 22:38that reality has begun to shift. And that very act of looking for
- 22:42proof is the act of leaving the state of the wish fulfilled.
- 22:46The moment you begin to search for evidence, you have exited
- 22:50the state of having and returned to the state of wanting.
- 22:53You have moved, moved from the consciousness of fulfillment to
- 22:56the consciousness of lack. You have in that moment dug up
- 22:59the seed, and the seed, disturbed before it could send
- 23:03down even the most fragile route, is destroyed not by the
- 23:07law, not by some cosmic punishment, but by your own
- 23:10impatience. The second phase is germination,
- 23:13and this is where the real test of your persistence begins.
- 23:17In this phase you have been assuming for days, perhaps
- 23:20weeks. The initial excitement has faded
- 23:23like the flush of new love. The novelty is gone.
- 23:26The practice has become routine, and routine for most people is
- 23:30the grave of inspiration. You are left with the quiet,
- 23:34unglamorous, repetitive work of simply persisting.
- 23:37Night after night you return to the same imaginal act, the same
- 23:41scene, the same feeling. Morning after morning you wake
- 23:44to the same unchanged world, the same job, the same apartment,
- 23:49the same bank balance, the same face in the mirror.
- 23:52And it is in this phase that doubt arise, drives in its most
- 23:55powerful and most seductive form during germination.
- 23:59The doubt does not come as a dramatic crisis.
- 24:02It does not announce itself with trumpets and Thunder.
- 24:05It comes as a quiet, reasonable question, spoken in the calm
- 24:09voice of common sense. Is this really working?
- 24:12Maybe I should try a different approach.
- 24:15Maybe I need a different technique.
- 24:17Maybe the scene I chose is wrong.
- 24:19Maybe I should read another book, listen to another teacher,
- 24:23find another method, attend another lecture.
- 24:25Maybe the problem is not persistence, but technique.
- 24:29Maybe if I just found the right way to do this, it would work
- 24:32faster. The doubt in this phase
- 24:34disguises itself as wisdom. It disguises itself as
- 24:38discernment. It disguises itself as the voice
- 24:40of mature, responsible thinking. It tells you that you are being
- 24:44intelligent by questioning, that you are being rational by
- 24:47doubting that only a fool, only a naive and credulous fool,
- 24:52would continue to assume something that shows no visible
- 24:55sign of becoming true after all these weeks.
- 24:58But I tell you, the doubt of the germination phase is the most
- 25:02dangerous doubt of all, precisely because it sounds so
- 25:05reasonable. It does not feel like fear.
- 25:08It feels like common sense. And common sense, I assure you,
- 25:12is the sworn enemy of imagination.
- 25:15Common sense is nothing more than the collective agreement of
- 25:18those who have never dared to assume beyond what their senses
- 25:22report. Common sense is the voice of the
- 25:25old state, wearing the respectable clothing of reason
- 25:28and rationality during germination.
- 25:31The bridge of incidents is being built.
- 25:33The unseen forces of your deeper consciousness are arranging the
- 25:37circumstances through which your assumption will enter your
- 25:40world. People are being moved,
- 25:42opportunities are being shaped, connections are being forged in
- 25:46rooms you have never entered, in conversations you have never
- 25:49heard between people whose names you do not yet know.
- 25:53But you cannot see the bridge being built because it is being
- 25:56constructed from the other end. You will only see it when you
- 25:59arrive at it, when the circumstances suddenly appear in
- 26:02your world and you think, how remarkable, how unexpected, how
- 26:07perfectly this has all come together.
- 26:09And until that moment you must walk in faith.
- 26:12Not faith in some distant deity, not faith in some impersonal
- 26:16cosmic force, but faith in the law of your own consciousness,
- 26:20faith that what you have assumed in the feeling of the wish
- 26:23fulfilled must, by the very nature of consciousness itself,
- 26:26become fact. The third phase is harvest.
- 26:30And here is where the teaching becomes most surprising, most
- 26:33counterintuitive, and most important for those of you who
- 26:36are on the verge of quitting. Most people expect the harvest
- 26:40to arrive quietly and gently, like a package delivered to
- 26:44their doorstep by a smiling postman.
- 26:46They expect the world to simply rearrange itself politely,
- 26:50without disruption, without inconvenience, without
- 26:53disturbing any of the comfortable structures of their
- 26:56current life. But I tell you, the harvest
- 26:59often arrives through what appears to be crisis.
- 27:02The bridge of incidents does not always look like a smooth,
- 27:05pleasant Rd. lined with flowers. Sometimes it looks like a
- 27:09disruption. Sometimes it looks like a loss.
- 27:12Sometimes it looks like the collapse of something you
- 27:15thought you needed. Sometimes it looks like the very
- 27:17opposite of what you assumed. And in that moment, if you do
- 27:21not understand the mechanics of the harvest, you, you will
- 27:24panic, You will conclude that the law has betrayed you, and
- 27:28you will abandoned your assumption at the very moment it
- 27:31is crystallizing into form. I had another student, a man
- 27:35named Thomas, who assumed A promotion at his company.
- 27:38He was a diligent, capable man who had been overlooked for
- 27:41years, and he began to assume the state of the promoted man,
- 27:45the man with the corner office, the man with the larger salary,
- 27:49the man whose work was recognized and valued.
- 27:52He persisted in this assumption for two full months and then
- 27:56instead of receiving a promotion, he was let go from
- 27:59his position entirely. His department was restructured
- 28:03and his name was on the list. He came to me devastated and I
- 28:07could see the accusation in his eyes even before he spoke it.
- 28:11Neville, the law has failed me. I assume the promotion and
- 28:14instead I lost everything. I have been faithful, I have
- 28:18persisted and the world has punished me for it.
- 28:21I told him. Thomas, do not judge the bridge
- 28:23of evidence by its appearance. You did not assume a specific
- 28:27promotion at a specific company. You assumed a state, the state
- 28:31of a man whose work is recognized, whose talents are
- 28:34rewarded, whose life is prosperous and expanding.
- 28:38The law has heard you. The law is rearranging your
- 28:41world to fulfill that assumption.
- 28:43But the world you are leaving may need to be dismantled before
- 28:46the world you have assumed can be built.
- 28:48Trust the process. Do not interpret.
- 28:51Do not judge, Simply persist. Within six weeks, Thomas was
- 28:55offered a position at a different company, a position
- 28:58far superior to anything he had been seeking through promotion
- 29:02at his Old Firm. The salary was nearly double.
- 29:06The work was more aligned with his deepest gifts.
- 29:08The location was in the very city he had secretly longed to
- 29:12move to for years, but had never dared to request.
- 29:15His assumption had crystallized perfectly, but the bridge of
- 29:18incidents had required the destruction of his old position
- 29:22to carry him to the new one. What he experienced as
- 29:25catastrophe was in fact the mechanism of his fulfillment.
- 29:29This is why you must not judge the process by appearances.
- 29:33The bridge of incidents is often invisible until you have crossed
- 29:37it, and what looks like failure in the middle of the journey is
- 29:40often the very means by which your assumption is being
- 29:43fulfilled. Dare to assume the feeling of
- 29:45the wish fulfilled, and then dare to trust the process by
- 29:49which it becomes fact, even when, especially when the
- 29:52process looks nothing like what you expected.
- 29:55Now, before I share with you the practical methods by which you
- 29:58can persist through these three phases, I want to pause here and
- 30:02acknowledge what may be stirring in you right now.
- 30:05You may be thinking, Neville, I have heard all of this before.
- 30:09I know about persistence. I know about the bridge of
- 30:12incidents. I know about doubt.
- 30:14I have read your books. I have listened to your
- 30:16lectures. I have memorized your phrases.
- 30:19And yet I still struggle. I still quit.
- 30:21I still abandoned my assumptions when the gaps stretches out
- 30:25before me like a desert. What is wrong with me?
- 30:27Why can I not do what others seem to do so easily?
- 30:31Nothing is wrong with you. You are not broken.
- 30:34You are not weak. You are not constitutionally
- 30:36incapable of persistence. You are simply untrained.
- 30:40You have spent your entire life, every single day of it, being
- 30:44trained by a world that teaches you to trust appearances above
- 30:47all else. You have been trained to believe
- 30:50only what you can see and touch and measure and prove.
- 30:53You have been trained to demand evidence before belief, to
- 30:56require proof before commitment, to insist on results before
- 31:00investment, and now I am asking you to reverse that entire
- 31:04training in a single stroke. I am asking you to believe
- 31:07before you see, to assume before you experience, to feel before
- 31:11you have to know before you are shown.
- 31:14That is not easy. It is not supposed to be easy.
- 31:17It is the great work of consciousness, the labor of a
- 31:20lifetime compressed into the simple but demanding act of of
- 31:24assumption and persistence. But it is simple, and
- 31:27simplicity, when practiced with persistence, is the most
- 31:30powerful force in the world. Not complexity, not cleverness,
- 31:35not technique. Simplicity and persistence.
- 31:38Those two together can move mountains and drain oceans and
- 31:41reshape the very fabric of your world.
- 31:44So let me give you now the practical tools, the daily
- 31:47disciplines by which you can persist through the gap between
- 31:50assumption and crystallization. These are not theories.
- 31:54These are practices. They require nothing from you
- 31:58but your willingness to do them night after night, day after
- 32:01day, until the world yields. The first practice is what I
- 32:05call the nightly return. Every night, without exception,
- 32:09without negotiation, without taking a night off because you
- 32:12are tired or discouraged or simply not in the mood, you must
- 32:16return to your imaginal act. You must enter the state akin to
- 32:20sleep, that drowsy, receptive borderland state in which the
- 32:23conscious mind relaxes its grip and the deeper consciousness is
- 32:27laid bare and impressionable. And in that state you must feel
- 32:31the wish fulfilled. Not think about it from the
- 32:34outside, not visualize it as a movie playing on a screen in
- 32:38front of you with you watching from your seat, but feel it from
- 32:41within, as though you are inside the experience, as though it is
- 32:45happening to you as you right now, in this very moment.
- 32:49Sleep as though the wish were fulfilled.
- 32:51Wake as though it is already so. This is not a suggestion.
- 32:55This is not one method among many that you might try.
- 32:58This is the law. The feeling with which you fall
- 33:01asleep is the instruction you give to your deeper
- 33:04consciousness. It is the seed you plant in the
- 33:06most fertile soil in all of creation, the soil of the
- 33:10subconscious mind in its most receptive state.
- 33:13And whatever you plant in that soil must, by the law of your
- 33:17own being, grow into form. So if you fall asleep in the
- 33:20feeling of the wish fulfilled, you have planted the seed of its
- 33:24crystallization. But if you fall asleep in the
- 33:27feeling of doubt, in the feeling of worry, in the feeling of
- 33:30lack, in the feeling of I hope this works, you have planted the
- 33:34seed of continued deprivation. And the soil does not judge, it
- 33:38does not choose, it does not edit.
- 33:40It simply grows whatever is planted in it with absolute
- 33:43fidelity. So every night, no matter what
- 33:46happened during the day, no matter how loud the doubt was,
- 33:50no matter how discouraging the evidence appeared, no matter how
- 33:53many people told you to be realistic, you return to the
- 33:56feeling of the wish fulfilled. You do not argue with the day,
- 34:00you do not try to resolve the contradictions between your
- 34:03assumption and your experience. You simply return to the feeling
- 34:07as faithfully and as naturally as a river returns to the sea.
- 34:11That is persistence. That is the nightly return, and
- 34:15it is the single most important habit you will ever develop.
- 34:19The second practice is what I call the daily dismissal.
- 34:22During the day, when doubt arises, and it will arise,
- 34:26sometimes gently and sometimes with the force of a breaking
- 34:29wave, you must develop the habit of dismissing it without
- 34:33engaging it. Most people, when doubt appears,
- 34:36immediately enter into a long, exhausting conversation with it.
- 34:40They argue with it. They try to refute it with
- 34:43logic, they try to overpower it with affirmations, they try to
- 34:47reason their way out of it. But every moment you spend
- 34:50engaged with doubt is a moment you spend occupying the state of
- 34:53doubt, and the state you occupy determines the world you see.
- 34:57So when doubt arises, you say to yourself, simply and without
- 35:01drama, without clenching your fists or gritting your teeth,
- 35:05That is not my state. I do not live there anymore.
- 35:08I have moved. And then you gently, quietly,
- 35:11without force or strain, return your attention to the feeling of
- 35:15the wish fulfilled. You do not need to feel it as
- 35:17powerfully as you do in the state akin to sleep.
- 35:21You simply need to touch the feeling lightly, briefly, like
- 35:24touching a Talisman in your pocket, and then go about your
- 35:27day. The light touch is enough.
- 35:30The brief remembrance is enough. The momentary return to the
- 35:33feeling, even for three seconds, is enough to keep the seed alive
- 35:38and growing in the soil of your consciousness. 3rd practice is
- 35:42revision, and this is one of the most powerful tools I have ever
- 35:45taught. Every evening before you begin
- 35:48your nightly return, take a few minutes to revise any event of
- 35:52the day that contradicted your assumption.
- 35:55If someone said something that implied your desire was
- 35:58impossible, revise that conversation.
- 36:01Hear them saying something that confirms your assumption.
- 36:04If you received a piece of news that seemed to deny your desire,
- 36:08revise it. See yourself receiving news that
- 36:10supports. If you felt a surge of doubt
- 36:13during the day that seemed to overwhelm you, revise that
- 36:16moment. See yourself feeling confident,
- 36:19serene, certain, unmoved. Revision is not denial.
- 36:23Revision is not pretending that unpleasant things did not
- 36:27happen. Revision is the conscious
- 36:29reshaping of your experience in accordance with the state you
- 36:33have chosen to occupy. It is the act of refusing to
- 36:36accept any experience as final, as permanent, as definitive,
- 36:40that contradicts. It's the state of consciousness
- 36:43you are building, and it is one of the most powerful forms of
- 36:46persistence available to you because it takes the very events
- 36:49that would weaken your assumption and transforms them
- 36:52into fuel for its crystallization.
- 36:55It turns the enemy's weapons into your own armor.
- 36:58The 4th practice is the most important of all, and it is the
- 37:02one that most people neglect entirely because it seems to
- 37:06contradict everything else I have said.
- 37:08It is the practice of resting. Yes, resting, letting go, being
- 37:13still. Most people, when they first
- 37:15learn the law, become frantic with effort.
- 37:17They assume morning, noon, and night.
- 37:20They repeat their imaginal act dozens of times a day.
- 37:23They clench their minds around their desire like a fist around
- 37:27a stone, squeezing tighter and tighter, afraid that if they
- 37:30relax their grip for even a moment, the desire will escape.
- 37:34And that very clenching, that very desperation, that very
- 37:38feverish effort, is the feeling of wanting, the feeling of lack,
- 37:42the feeling of not having. And that feeling is the precise
- 37:46opposite of the feeling of the wish fulfilled.
- 37:49The feeling of the wish fulfilled is relaxed, it is
- 37:52calm, it is settled, it is the feeling of having.
- 37:55And having is the most relaxed state in all of human
- 37:58experience. Think about something you
- 38:00already have, something you take so completely for granted that
- 38:04you never give it a second thought.
- 38:06Your name, for instance. You do not walk around all day
- 38:09affirming your name. You do not lie in bed at night
- 38:13desperately hoping that your name will still be your name
- 38:16tomorrow. You do not clench your fists and
- 38:18repeat your name 1000 times to make it more real.
- 38:22You simply know it. You rest in it.
- 38:24It is settled, it is done, it is yours.
- 38:27It has always been yours. That is the feeling you must
- 38:30cultivate toward your desire. Not the frantic desperation of
- 38:34wanting, but the settled, peaceful assurance of having.
- 38:38And that assurance comes not from evidence, not from proof,
- 38:41not from the confirmation of your senses, but from the
- 38:44decision, the sovereign, irreversible decision to occupy
- 38:48the state of the wish fulfilled and to refuse to be moved from
- 38:52it, no matter what the world presents to your senses.
- 38:55Now, I want to guide you into an experience.
- 38:57Right now, as you listen to my voice, I want you to close your
- 39:01eyes, if you can do so safely. Take a breath.
- 39:04Let your shoulders drop. Let the tension in your jaw
- 39:07release. And I want you to think of the
- 39:10desire you abandoned. The one that still lives in you.
- 39:13The 1 you gave up on. The 1 you told yourself was
- 39:16impossible or foolish or too much to ask for.
- 39:20The one you buried but could not kill because it was planted in
- 39:23you by imagination itself. And imagination does not take
- 39:27back its gifts. Think of it now.
- 39:29Do not think of it as something you want.
- 39:31Do not think of it as something you lack.
- 39:33Do not think of it as something out there in the future, waiting
- 39:37to maybe, possibly arrive if you are lucky enough or good enough,
- 39:41or persistent enough. Think of it as something you
- 39:43already have, something that is already yours.
- 39:46Something that is already done, finished, completed, settled,
- 39:50real. Where would you be right now if
- 39:52this desire were already fulfilled?
- 39:54What room would you be sitting in?
- 39:57What would you see when you look out the window?
- 39:58Who would be with you? What would you hear?
- 40:01What would you feel beneath your hands?
- 40:03What would the air smell like? What would be the expression on
- 40:06your face? Not the forced, hopeful smile of
- 40:09someone wishing, but the natural, easy, effortless
- 40:12expression of someone who has received what they knew deep in
- 40:16their bones was always coming. Go there.
- 40:18Now step into that scene as you would step into a warm room on a
- 40:22cold night. Feel your feet on the floor of
- 40:25that place. Feel the texture.
- 40:27Of what you are touching. Hear the sounds that belong to
- 40:30that fulfilled reality. Hear the voice of someone you
- 40:33love, someone who matters to you, speaking to you,
- 40:36congratulating you, celebrating with you, confirming what you
- 40:40already know to be true. Feel the warmth in your chest.
- 40:43Feel the settled calm in your belly.
- 40:46Feel the rightness of it, the completeness of it, The way
- 40:49everything in your world makes sense because this one thing is
- 40:52finally, at last, irrevocably true.
- 40:55Stay there. Breathe in that feeling, Let it
- 40:58fill your body, let it reach into every corner of your being.
- 41:02This is not fantasy. This is not wishful thinking.
- 41:05This is the reality of the 4th dimension.
- 41:08This is the reality of imagination.
- 41:11This is the reality of cause. And what is real in imagination
- 41:14must, by the law of your own consciousness, become real in
- 41:18the world of form and flesh and time.
- 41:20Now, as you hold that feeling, say to yourself silently in the
- 41:24sanctuary of your own mind, where no one can hear and no one
- 41:28can judge. I will not stop.
- 41:30I will not abandon this. I am the one who persists.
- 41:33I am the one who does not quit. I am the one who sleeps in the
- 41:36feeling of the wish fulfilled and wakes knowing it is already
- 41:40so. I am the one whose assumptions
- 41:42crystallize. That is who I am.
- 41:44That is what I do. That is the law of my being.
- 41:48Let those words settle into you like seeds falling into rich
- 41:51soil. And when you open your eyes,
- 41:53carry that feeling with you, not as a burden, not as a the task,
- 41:57not as something you must maintain through effort and
- 42:00strain, but as a quiet certainty, like the certainty of
- 42:04your own name. It is done, It is settled.
- 42:07You are simply waiting for the world to report what
- 42:09consciousness already knows. You are imagination, and
- 42:13imagination creates reality. Now I know that some of you
- 42:17listening tonight have a question that has been building
- 42:19in you throughout this talk, and it is this.
- 42:23Neville, What if I have been persisting for months, genuinely
- 42:26persisting, doing the nightly return and the daily dismissal
- 42:30and the revision and the resting, and still my world
- 42:33looks exactly as it did when I started?
- 42:36What if nothing, absolutely nothing, has changed?
- 42:39What then? Am I doing something wrong?
- 42:41Is there something I am missing? This is the question that
- 42:44separates the student from the master and I will answer it with
- 42:48the complete honesty you deserve.
- 42:50First, you must examine the quality of your assumption.
- 42:54Are you truly occupying the state of the wish fulfilled, or
- 42:57are you occupying the state of someone who is trying very hard
- 43:01to occupy the state of the wish fulfilled?
- 43:04These are not the same thing, and the difference between them
- 43:07is the difference between planting a seed and holding a
- 43:10picture of a seed. If you lie in bed at night and
- 43:13your inner monologue is I am now going to do my imaginal act.
- 43:17I hope it works this time. I really need this to happen.
- 43:20Please let this be the night it clicks.
- 43:22You are are not in the state of the wish fulfilled.
- 43:25You are in the state of hoping. You are in the state of trying.
- 43:29You are in the state of performing a technique, and the
- 43:31law will faithfully produce the outer equivalent of that state,
- 43:35which is more hoping, more trying, more performing, and no
- 43:39result. The most important conversation
- 43:42you will ever have is the one you hold with yourself.
- 43:45And if that in a conversation is saturated with the tone of
- 43:48wanting, the law will faithfully give you more wanting.
- 43:52But if that conversation is saturated with the quiet,
- 43:55unforced certainty of having, the law will give you the
- 43:58having. So examine yourself.
- 44:01Be honest with yourself. Are you assuming, or are you
- 44:04performing? Second, you must examine whether
- 44:06you are maintaining your assumption throughout the day or
- 44:09abandoning it the moment you open your eyes each morning.
- 44:13The nightly return is essential. It is the foundation of
- 44:16everything. But it is not sufficient if you
- 44:18spend your entire waking day contradicting your assumption
- 44:22with every thought, every word, every conversation, every
- 44:26reaction. If you assume health at night
- 44:28and spend your days discussing your symptoms, you are planting
- 44:32the seed at night and digging it up every morning.
- 44:35If you assume wealth at night and spend your days tallying
- 44:38your debts and complaining about prices, you are sowing and
- 44:41uprooting in an endless, futile cycle.
- 44:44The assumption must become your dwelling place, your permanent
- 44:48address, not a vacation home you visit for 10 minutes before
- 44:51sleep. 3rd, and this is the most subtle and most important point
- 44:55of all, you must examine whether you have truly released the how
- 44:59many people assume the end result beautifully, vividly,
- 45:03convincingly, but then immediately begin trying to
- 45:06figure out how it will happen. They scheme, they plan, they
- 45:10strategize, they try to identify the bridge of incidents before
- 45:14it appears. They try to construct the bridge
- 45:16themselves with their conscious minds.
- 45:19And that very effort to control the mechanism of fulfillment.
- 45:22Fulfillment is the spirit of doubt disguised as productive
- 45:26action. When you try to figure out how
- 45:28your assumption will crystallize, you are telling
- 45:30your deeper consciousness that you do not trust it.
- 45:33You are saying I believe in the end, but I do not believe you
- 45:37can find the way there. So let me help.
- 45:39And your deeper consciousness responds to that distrust by
- 45:43withholding the very bridge of incidents you are trying so
- 45:46desperately to build with your own hands.
- 45:49Man's imagination is the only redemptive power in the world.
- 45:53Trust it. It is infinitely more
- 45:55intelligent than your conscious mind.
- 45:57It sees paths you cannot see. It knows people you have not
- 46:01met. It has access to possibilities
- 46:04you have not imagined. Your job, your only job, is to
- 46:07assume the end and persist in that assumption.
- 46:10The way, the bridge, the how, the when, the through whom?
- 46:13That is the business of imagination itself.
- 46:16Release it, let it go, and persist in the end in the
- 46:20feeling of the fulfilled desire, and let imagination do what only
- 46:24imagination can do. Now let me bring this full
- 46:27circle, because I opened tonight with a question.
- 46:30And a teaching that does not return to its beginning is a
- 46:33teaching that has lost its way. I asked you, why did you stop?
- 46:38And now, having walked with me through this hour, having
- 46:41understood the nature of the gap, the mechanics of doubt, the
- 46:44three phases of crystallization, the daily practices of
- 46:48persistence, I want you to ask yourself that question.
- 46:51One final time, not as an accusation, not with guilt or
- 46:55shame or regret, but with genuine curiosity and with the
- 46:59deep hard won knowledge you now possess.
- 47:02You stopped because you did not understand the gap.
- 47:05You stopped because you believe the delay between assuming and
- 47:08seeing meant failure, when in truth it meant gestation.
- 47:11You stopped because doubt arrived and you mistook it for
- 47:14the voice of truth, when in truth it was the death cry of
- 47:18your old state. You stopped because the
- 47:20germination phase felt like nothing.
- 47:22Nothing was happening, and you could not see the bridge of
- 47:24incidents being built from the other side of your desire.
- 47:28You stopped because no one told you, or perhaps no one told you
- 47:32convincingly enough, that the very moment you most wanted to
- 47:35quit was the moment your assumption was closest to
- 47:38crystallizing into fact. But now you know, and knowing,
- 47:42truly knowing, changes everything.
- 47:44Not because knowledge alone is power.
- 47:46That is only a half truth, and half truths are the most
- 47:49dangerous lies of all. Knowledge is potential power.
- 47:53It is a loaded weapon lying on a table.
- 47:55It can save your life or gather dust, depending entirely on
- 47:59whether you pick it up and use it.
- 48:01Applied knowledge, knowledge that you act upon, knowledge
- 48:04that you take into the state akin to sleep with you tonight,
- 48:07Knowledge that you carry into tomorrow and the day after and
- 48:11the week after and the month after.
- 48:13That is actual power. That is the power that reshapes
- 48:16worlds. And the knowledge I have given
- 48:18you tonight is useless. Completely and utterly useless
- 48:22unless you apply it. Unless you take it into your bed
- 48:25with you tonight. Unless you return to the desire
- 48:28you abandoned. Unless you reassume the feeling
- 48:31of the wish fulfilled. Unless you persist.
- 48:34Unless you persist when it is exciting and when it is boring.
- 48:37Unless you persist. When the doubt is quiet and when
- 48:40the doubt is screaming. Unless you persist.
- 48:43When the world confirms your assumption, and when the world
- 48:46contradicts it with every fact at its disposal, persist in your
- 48:50assumption, and the world must rearrange itself to conform.
- 48:54That is not a hope. That is not a suggestion.
- 48:57That is not a theory waiting to be tested.
- 49:00That is the law. The world has no choice, none
- 49:03whatsoever, but to conform to the assumption you hold with
- 49:06unwavering persistence. Because the world is nothing
- 49:09more than your own consciousness solidified, your own assumptions
- 49:13crystallized, your own imagination made flesh.
- 49:16Change your consciousness and the world must change.
- 49:19Hold that changed consciousness. Persist in in it, sleep in it,
- 49:23wake in it, live in it, and the world will rearrange every atom
- 49:27of its being to reflect what you have dared to assume.
- 49:30What you desire, you already are in eternity.
- 49:34The only distance between you and your fulfilled desire is the
- 49:37persistence required to make the eternal truth a temporal fact.
- 49:41And that persistence is not a punishment.
- 49:44It is not a test. It is not a burden placed upon
- 49:47you by a cruel or indifferent universe.
- 49:50It is a privilege. It is the sacred, joyful,
- 49:53creative work of consciousness becoming aware of its own power
- 49:57of imagination, clothing itself in the garments of time and
- 50:00space of the dream, awakening inside the dream to discover
- 50:04that the dream was always, from the very beginning, his own
- 50:07creation. So I leave you tonight with
- 50:10this. Go back.
- 50:11Go back to the thing you abandoned.
- 50:13Go back to the desire you buried in the graveyard of failed
- 50:16attempts. Go back to the feeling you
- 50:18stopped feeling because you were afraid it would never become
- 50:21real. Because.
- 50:22Because the world told you it was foolish.
- 50:24Because the doubt convinced you that you were not the kind of
- 50:27person for whom these things happen.
- 50:29And feel it again tonight. Feel it as you fall asleep, and
- 50:33tomorrow night feel it again, and the night after that, and
- 50:36the night after that. And when doubt comes, and it
- 50:39will come as surely as the wind comes to a hilltop, let it pass
- 50:43through you, let it blow. And then return calmly, quietly,
- 50:47without drama, without fanfare, without negotiation, to your
- 50:51assumption, not once, not twice, but as many times as necessary,
- 50:56for as long as necessary, until the world bows to the truth that
- 51:00you have dared to assume. I do not ask you to share this
- 51:03teaching with anyone. I do not ask you to tell others
- 51:06what you have heard tonight. I do not ask you to go out and
- 51:09convince anyone else that this law is true.
- 51:12That is not your work. Your work is singular, personal,
- 51:16intimate. I ask only that you apply it,
- 51:19test it, prove it in the laboratory of your own life,
- 51:22which is the only laboratory that matters.
- 51:25Take one desire, one single desire that matters to you
- 51:28deeply, that has been waiting for you patiently all the time
- 51:32you were busy doubting, and give it the persistence it deserves.
- 51:36Give it 30 days of faithful assumption.
- 51:39Give it 30 nights of sleeping in the feeling of the wish
- 51:42fulfilled. Do not evaluate it on the 15th
- 51:44day. Do not check the score at half
- 51:47time. Simply persist, and at the end
- 51:49of those 30 days, observe what has happened in your world.
- 51:53Observe the people who have appeared.
- 51:55Observe the circumstances that have shifted.
- 51:58Observe the doors that have opened.
- 52:00Observe the bridge of incidents that has carried you step by
- 52:03step toward the fulfillment of what you dared to assume.
- 52:07Not because I need the confirmation.
- 52:10I do not. I know this law as intimately as
- 52:12I know my own heartbeat. I have tested it and proved it
- 52:16in my own life more times than I can count, and I have watched it
- 52:19operate in the lives of thousands who have sat at where
- 52:22you are sitting now, who have felt what you are feeling now,
- 52:25who have doubted as fiercely as you have doubted.
- 52:28But you need the confirmation. You need to discover, through
- 52:31the undeniable evidence of your own experience, that
- 52:34consciousness is the only reality, that imagination
- 52:38creates reality, and that persistence in the assumption of
- 52:41the wish fulfilled is the only power that has ever changed
- 52:45anything in this world or any other.
- 52:47Go now. Return to your desire.
- 52:49Return to the feeling. Return to the state you
- 52:52abandoned when the gap seemed too wide and the doubt seemed
- 52:55too loud and the world seemed too stubborn.
- 52:58And this time, my friend, do not stop.
- 53:01This time persist. This time, sleep as though the
- 53:04wish were fulfilled, and wake as though it is already so.
- 53:07And watch with wonder, with gratitude, with the quiet tears
- 53:11of someone who has finally come home, as the world rearranges
- 53:14itself to conform to the truth you have dared to assume.
- 53:18I am Neville, and I tell you, the only thing that ever stood
- 53:22between you and the life your heart desires was your
- 53:25willingness to persist. Not your talent, not your
- 53:28education, not your worthiness, not the approval of any external
- 53:32authority, not the permission of any other human being.
- 53:36Only your persistence, only your refusal to quit, Only your
- 53:40decision to return again and again and again to the feeling
- 53:44of the wish fulfilled. And now that you know this, now
- 53:48that you understand the gap and the doubt and the three phases
- 53:51and the daily practice, practice, you have no reason to
- 53:53stop, not ever again. So do not stop.
- 53:57Persist. And the world, which has no
- 53:59choice, which has never had a choice, will say yes.
