- 0:03Speaker 1: Man doesn't work, don't let him meet. You know, there
- 0:11Speaker 1: are sometimes when in church it is sinful to give
- 0:17Speaker 1: benevolence to a man. If a man is lazy, God
- 0:25Speaker 1: intends for him to be hungry. So if we're giving
- 0:30Speaker 1: to a man who is lazy, we're actually working against God.
- 0:35Speaker 1: And the Bible says here clearly in black and white,
- 0:38Speaker 1: if a man doesn't work, don't let him eat. Don't
- 0:40Speaker 1: feed a man who's not willing to work. Don't do it.
- 0:44Speaker 1: Don't do it.
- 0:45Speaker 2: You are encouraging his laziness. Don't do it.
- 0:50Speaker 1: Hunger is an incredible motivator. Even Adam, before the Fall,
- 1:01Speaker 1: in perfect pristine surroundings, worked the garden. He worked it
- 1:09Speaker 1: turned with me to the right. Look at first Timothy
- 1:12Speaker 1: chapter five.
- 1:19Speaker 2: This is a spiritual issue here verse eight.
- 1:31Speaker 1: If anyone does not provide for his relatives and especially
- 1:35Speaker 1: for members of his household, he has denied the.
- 1:38Speaker 2: Faith and is worse than an unbeliever. A commitment to God.
- 1:54Speaker 1: Honoring labor is a mark of biblical manhood. It is
- 2:01Speaker 1: an absolute necessity, and it's not.
- 2:06Speaker 2: Just individuals who are not willing to work.
- 2:09Speaker 1: Again, my point here is not that you have a
- 2:14Speaker 1: man you know who just.
- 2:18Speaker 2: Didn't like work or is just unwilling to work.
- 2:23Speaker 1: I mean, it's also if a man doesn't like to work,
- 2:26Speaker 1: if he's not committed to doing all that his hands
- 2:28Speaker 1: fine to do and sees that.
- 2:30Speaker 2: As honoring God.
- 2:37Speaker 1: Everything that my hand's fine to do, I do it
- 2:41Speaker 1: to bring honor and to bring glory to God.
- 2:44Speaker 2: And I see excellence in that. I seek excellence.
- 2:48Speaker 1: I want excellence in everything my hand's fine to do.
- 2:52Speaker 2: That's biblical manhood.
- 2:54Speaker 1: Biblical manhood says, I may be a street sweeper, but
- 2:59Speaker 1: I tell you what, at the cleanest streets in the
- 3:04Speaker 1: whole city, because I clean streets to the glory and
- 3:08Speaker 1: honor of God.
- 3:14Speaker 2: You can go to work every day and still be lazy. Amen.
- 3:21Speaker 1: You can go to school every day and still be lazy.
- 3:24Speaker 1: You can go to school every day and make good
- 3:25Speaker 1: grades and still be lazy.
- 3:29Speaker 2: That was me.
- 3:32Speaker 1: Find out that you can kind of make it. Find
- 3:36Speaker 1: out that you can memorize things. Well, So what do
- 3:39Speaker 1: you do.
- 3:43Speaker 3: Wait until the last minute.
- 3:46Speaker 2: That's a mark of laziness.
- 3:53Speaker 1: When you go into a class, Are you interested in
- 3:57Speaker 1: maximizing your mastery of the subject? Are doing as little
- 4:01Speaker 1: as possible to gain the grade that you need. Which
- 4:06Speaker 1: is it? Answer that question, and you answer whether or
- 4:10Speaker 1: not you're lazy? What are you studying whatever can get
- 4:18Speaker 1: you out the quickest, or whatever takes full advantage of
- 4:22Speaker 1: the gifts, talents, abilities and desires that God has given
- 4:25Speaker 1: you for his glory and for his honor.
- 4:27Speaker 2: What is it? What is it? Ladies? These are the
- 4:34Speaker 2: kind of questions we have to ask you.
- 4:36Speaker 1: See, when you and I sit down together and we're
- 4:39Speaker 1: talking about your future, mate, this is the stuff that
- 4:41Speaker 1: we have to discuss. No lazy men, that's not biblical manhood. Secondly,
- 4:51Speaker 1: not only a commitment to God honoring labor, but also
- 4:55Speaker 1: a commitment to the law of God. Back in Genesis too,
- 5:00Speaker 1: and the Lord God commanded the man, saying, you may
- 5:03Speaker 1: surely eat of every tree of the garden, but of
- 5:06Speaker 1: the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you
- 5:08Speaker 1: shall not eat, for in the day that you eat
- 5:10Speaker 1: of it, you shall surely die. That's the law of God.
- 5:13Speaker 1: We don't even have the Ten Commandments, but we've already
- 5:18Speaker 1: got a law of God. God lays down a law
- 5:21Speaker 1: right here in the midst of perfection. So we don't
- 5:24Speaker 1: have the law of God because of imperfection. Now, before
- 5:29Speaker 1: the fall, we have the law of God. Before the fall,
- 5:35Speaker 1: he must be committed to the law of God. Most
- 5:40Speaker 1: men don't know the law of God, let alone and
- 5:46Speaker 1: commit it to it.
- 5:48Speaker 2: They don't know it.
- 5:50Speaker 1: One of the little tests here, here's an interesting little test.
- 5:54Speaker 1: I want you to think right now in your mind,
- 5:57Speaker 1: of the Ten Commandments?
- 6:00Speaker 2: You know them?
- 6:03Speaker 1: Ninety five percent of Americans do not. And that's as
- 6:09Speaker 1: true of church goers as it is of those who
- 6:12Speaker 1: don't go to church. Do you know the law of God?
- 6:17Speaker 1: And again I'm not saying everything. Do you just know
- 6:20Speaker 1: the most basic? You don't get more basic than the Decalogue.
- 6:25Speaker 1: You don't get more basic than the Ten Commandments? Do
- 6:27Speaker 1: you know the Ten Commandments? And men, If your answer
- 6:32Speaker 1: to that is no, here's what I want to ask you.
- 6:34Speaker 1: How are you gonna sit up here in my face
- 6:36Speaker 1: asking me for my daughter and you don't even know
- 6:38Speaker 1: the Ten Commandments. You're supposed to be a godly man
- 6:45Speaker 1: into whose hands I entrust.
- 6:48Speaker 2: One of the greatest resources.
- 6:50Speaker 1: That God has given to me, and you don't know
- 6:54Speaker 1: the basics of His law. Get out of my house.
- 6:58Speaker 1: That's exactly what I'd say to you and don't come
- 7:03Speaker 1: back again unless you at least know that much of
- 7:07Speaker 1: the law of God. Why because you are asking to
- 7:12Speaker 1: be the father of my future generations, and they will
- 7:17Speaker 1: not be lawless, committed to the law of God, committed
- 7:30Speaker 1: to the law of God. And again, for most of us,
- 7:34Speaker 1: I mean, that's just something that's just foreign. We just
- 7:36Speaker 1: don't know. Give me half, give me five, you see.
- 7:48Speaker 1: But again, don't feel bad. This is the culture that
- 7:53Speaker 1: we live in. Remember what I told you. We've been
- 7:55Speaker 1: lied to. This is the culture that we live in.
- 7:58Speaker 1: We sit here going bald bill fall bedroom. Is he
- 8:07Speaker 1: committed to God, honoring labor, he's a great ballplayer? Is
- 8:14Speaker 1: he committed to the law of God?
- 8:18Speaker 3: Is he he's got a lot of money.
- 8:33Speaker 1: If we're interested in biblical manhood, we have to be
- 8:36Speaker 1: interested in the law of God. By the way, part
- 8:41Speaker 1: of his responsibility is to communicate to you, ladies, the
- 8:46Speaker 1: law of God. God gives this law to Adam. Adam
- 8:55Speaker 1: turns around and gives us a law to Eve. And
- 8:57Speaker 1: one of the problems don't know certain because the text
- 9:01Speaker 1: doesn't necessarily say for certain. But when Eve communicates the law,
- 9:05Speaker 1: when she's talking to the serpent, to the serpent. And
- 9:08Speaker 1: by the way, her husband is there, so he's not
- 9:10Speaker 1: protecting his wife.
- 9:11Speaker 2: Huge problem. Three.
- 9:23Speaker 1: Now, the serpent was more crafty than any other beast
- 9:27Speaker 1: of the field that the Lord God had made. He
- 9:31Speaker 1: said to the woman, did God actually say you shall
- 9:35Speaker 1: not eat of any tree of the garden? And the
- 9:37Speaker 1: woman said to the serpent, we may eat of the
- 9:41Speaker 1: fruit of the trees in the garden. But God said,
- 9:44Speaker 1: you shall not eat of the fruit of the tree
- 9:47Speaker 1: that is in the midst of the garden. Neither shall
- 9:50Speaker 1: you touch it lest you die. Wow, that's not what
- 9:55Speaker 1: God said, is it. She hasn't been prom really, disciple.
- 10:04Speaker 1: That's why in Romans five it says through the sin
- 10:09Speaker 1: of one man, Adam, falling come through the sin of Eve.
- 10:14Speaker 1: Fall comes through the sin of Adam. Who's responsible. There's
- 10:19Speaker 1: headship here even here, But wait a minute, I thought
- 10:24Speaker 1: that headship was because of the fall and when there
- 10:26Speaker 1: was the curse, and God curses Eve and it says
- 10:28Speaker 1: that he shall rule over you, And that's why we
- 10:30Speaker 1: got this whole idea of headship, which again is why
- 10:33Speaker 1: some egalitarians argue that when we become Christians, that that
- 10:36Speaker 1: whole idea of headship is no longer relevant because now
- 10:39Speaker 1: we've sort of reversed that idea of the fall, and
- 10:42Speaker 1: because of that, we have this egalitarian idea no longer
- 10:45Speaker 1: this idea of headship. News flash, we see headship way
- 10:50Speaker 1: before the fall. Well, how do we see headship before
- 10:54Speaker 1: the fall? Who was made first? According to one Grinthia,
- 10:57Speaker 1: chapter eleven, Paul says, Adam has head shae because he
- 11:00Speaker 1: was made first. By the way, Adam is exercising dominion
- 11:05Speaker 1: over all of these other creatures, by what naming them.
- 11:10Speaker 1: Eve shows up on the scene. What does he do?
- 11:12Speaker 1: Names her headship before the fall? So what does headship
- 11:24Speaker 1: mean mean? Mind you woman me say you do? Now,
- 11:30Speaker 1: that's not headship. Headship means you don't get to say God,
- 11:37Speaker 1: it was that woman that you gave me. That's what
- 11:43Speaker 1: Adam did. He threw his wife under the bus. Then
- 11:47Speaker 1: he tried to throw God under the bus. What happened
- 11:50Speaker 1: that woman that you gave me? You also see headship
- 12:03Speaker 1: because when Adam is cursed, what does God say, because
- 12:07Speaker 1: you listen to your wife, you did not exercise the
- 12:11Speaker 1: headship that you were given. In Ephesians chapter five, we
- 12:16Speaker 1: see this picture of the husband washing his wife with
- 12:19Speaker 1: the water of the word. In Ephesians chapter six. We
- 12:24Speaker 1: see this picture of the husband in Ephesians chapter six.
- 12:27Speaker 1: And by the way, we get a repeat of part
- 12:29Speaker 1: of the law. We get a repeat of the fifth
- 12:30Speaker 1: commandment in Ephesians chapter six. Children, obey your parents and
- 12:33Speaker 1: the Lord, for this is right. Honor your father and
- 12:35Speaker 1: your mother, which is the first commandment of the promise,
- 12:36Speaker 1: that it may go well with you and you.
- 12:38Speaker 2: May live long in the land.
- 12:39Speaker 1: And fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but
- 12:42Speaker 1: you bring them up in the discipline and instruction of
- 12:45Speaker 1: the Lord. Can ask your question, ladies, if it's a
- 12:49Speaker 1: man's responsibility to disciple, his wife and his children, why
- 12:53Speaker 1: on earth would you go get a man who doesn't
- 12:55Speaker 1: know the law of God. Why it happens all the time.
- 13:12Speaker 1: That's not a man. That's a fractured vessel. That's not
- 13:21Speaker 1: a man. And so here you are saying, I'm going
- 13:27Speaker 1: to be the mother of thousands in generations to come.
- 13:32Speaker 1: And because I think more about the ball field and
- 13:36Speaker 1: bill folds and the bedroom, I will sacrifice the spiritual
- 13:40Speaker 1: future of generations to come, so that I can be
- 13:44Speaker 1: satisfied with what the world says, it's most valuable. God
- 13:50Speaker 1: help us, God help us, because that's exactly what women
- 13:55Speaker 1: are saying all over the place and claiming to.
- 13:58Speaker 2: Be followers of Christ.
- 14:02Speaker 1: Coming up talking about the possibility of marrying non believers
- 14:05Speaker 1: in relationships with men who are non believers. First of all,
- 14:09Speaker 1: that's black and white, Paul tells us in second Griffians,
- 14:12Speaker 1: that's black and white.
- 14:13Speaker 2: Do not be an equaliok with an unbeliever. Do not.
- 14:16Speaker 1: That's a clear cut command. It's not even an option.
- 14:19Speaker 1: I'm not even talking about that. That's not even worthy
- 14:22Speaker 1: of discussion. If you're thinking about that, I'm going back
- 14:25Speaker 1: to message number one, and I'm questioning whether or not
- 14:27Speaker 1: you're even converted. I'm talking here not just about whether
- 14:33Speaker 1: or not a person is coming into the kingdom by
- 14:36Speaker 1: the skin of their teeth. I'm talking about whether or
- 14:38Speaker 1: not somebody knows the law well enough to teach it
- 14:41Speaker 1: to you and to your children. Until you meet a
- 14:50Speaker 1: man that's qualified to disciple you and your children, you
- 14:54Speaker 1: have not met a man who's qualified to be your
- 14:56Speaker 1: husband' make that clear enough, Do all of my daughters
- 15:03Speaker 1: hear that.
- 15:08Speaker 2: He must be committed to the law of God. He
- 15:13Speaker 2: has to be. He has to be.
- 15:18Speaker 1: Finally, this man must be committed to the primacy of
- 15:29Speaker 1: the family. Back in Genesis chapter two, I want you
- 15:33Speaker 1: to see this there in verse eighteen, we see that
- 15:38Speaker 1: statement is not good, that man should be alone. I
- 15:40Speaker 1: want you to grasp I just, I just I want
- 15:43Speaker 1: you to grasp the magnitude of that statement. Six days
- 15:48Speaker 1: in creation, there is the same pattern, over and over again.
- 15:51Speaker 1: Day one, Let there be, then there was, It was good.
- 15:56Speaker 1: Day two, Let there be, then there was. It was good.
- 15:59Speaker 1: Day three, Let there be, then there was.
- 16:01Speaker 2: It was good.
- 16:01Speaker 1: They four all together. Let there be, Then there was,
- 16:05Speaker 1: it was good. Day five. Let there be, then there was,
- 16:08Speaker 1: it was good. Day six, Let there be, then there was.
- 16:12Speaker 1: It was good every day, same pattern.
- 16:15Speaker 2: First time in.
- 16:16Speaker 1: The creation process God says something is not good. It's
- 16:19Speaker 1: when a man doesn't have a woman. It's the first
- 16:28Speaker 1: time in creation God says something is not good. Indeed,
- 16:39Speaker 1: does this mean that every man has to be married
- 16:42Speaker 1: in order to be complete? No, because we know, for example,
- 16:45Speaker 1: in Matthew nineteen, Jesus refers to some as being eunuchs
- 16:49Speaker 1: for the sake of the kingdom. We know in First
- 16:51Speaker 1: Corinthians chapter seven, Paul refers to those in those circumstances
- 16:56Speaker 1: in First Corinthians, chapter seven, because he says, I believe
- 16:58Speaker 1: it's in verse twenty six. Because of the present distress,
- 17:03Speaker 1: it is good for you to remain as you are.
- 17:05Speaker 1: So we know that there are circumstances under which there
- 17:09Speaker 1: are times when it may be better off for a
- 17:11Speaker 1: man not to take a wife.
- 17:13Speaker 2: And we know that there.
- 17:14Speaker 1: Are individuals who have a special calling and gifting from
- 17:17Speaker 1: God not to take a wife. So we know that
- 17:21Speaker 1: when we look at the totality of scripture, we know that. However,
- 17:25Speaker 1: let me say this, marriage is the preferred position. I
- 17:33Speaker 1: argue from this text every man ought to be prepared
- 17:38Speaker 1: to be a husband, and every woman ought to be
- 17:40Speaker 1: prepared to be a wife. I'm raising every one of
- 17:45Speaker 1: my sons and preparing my sons to be a husband.
- 17:50Speaker 1: I'm raising my daughters and preparing my daughters to be wives. Who, well,
- 17:57Speaker 1: what if God has called them to be single? Here's
- 18:00Speaker 1: the thing. Is there one standard for godly married people
- 18:05Speaker 1: and another standard for godly single people? No, no, there's not.
- 18:13Speaker 1: So I can't go wrong by preparing them to be
- 18:17Speaker 1: the kind of person who's qualified to be a husband
- 18:19Speaker 1: and a wife.
- 18:20Speaker 2: I can't go wrong. I can't go wrong.
- 18:25Speaker 1: Well, well, I don't agree with that because Jesus was single. Yeah,
- 18:31Speaker 1: that's true, but he's engaged. Bible says the church is
- 18:38Speaker 1: his bride and there's going to be a wedding.
- 18:44Speaker 2: Jesus.
- 18:45Speaker 1: Our model of ultimate manhood is engaged. Amen, Hallelujah, Praise
- 18:51Speaker 1: the Lord. And so if we want men to be
- 18:56Speaker 1: christ Like, they need to be men who are committed
- 18:58Speaker 1: to the family. That's not what our culture says. Our
- 19:00Speaker 1: culture says men are to treat marriage like a plague
- 19:05Speaker 1: to be avoided as long as possible. That's what our
- 19:08Speaker 1: culture said, even in the church.
- 19:10Speaker 2: I know this.
- 19:11Speaker 1: I got married the summer between my sophomore and junior
- 19:13Speaker 1: year in college. I just turned twenty years old. I
- 19:17Speaker 1: didn't even have I didn't have a driver's license. I
- 19:18Speaker 1: got a driver's license, so I couldn't get my marriage license.
- 19:26Speaker 2: I did.
- 19:26Speaker 1: I went into the place that I had my student
- 19:28Speaker 1: ID and they said they wouldn't give me a marriage license.
- 19:31Speaker 1: I was like, well, what you need, Well, you can
- 19:37Speaker 1: get a passport and it will take you this long,
- 19:40Speaker 1: or you can get a license and they'll take you this long,
- 19:44Speaker 1: go give me a license. And I heard, I mean,
- 19:51Speaker 1: oh man, Christian people, church folks, they were just it
- 19:57Speaker 1: was like I was getting It was like it was sin.
- 20:00Speaker 1: You're what we get married, get married, you get but
- 20:07Speaker 1: you're you're so young.
- 20:10Speaker 2: Yeah good, Yeah, yeah, I mean we get longer to
- 20:14Speaker 2: be married to each other. What but you have your
- 20:21Speaker 2: whole life ahead of you.
- 20:23Speaker 1: Yes, yes, I do. And I'm looking at her. Oh
- 20:31Speaker 1: but see, uh huh. That's not the way the church
- 20:36Speaker 1: teaches young men to think about marriage. Marriage is something
- 20:40Speaker 1: to be put off as long as possible, even in
- 20:42Speaker 1: the church.
- 20:44Speaker 2: You need to go and be and do.
- 20:46Speaker 1: Here's what we're communicating to young men, and we don't
- 20:48Speaker 1: even realize this is what we're saying. You need to
- 20:51Speaker 1: suck all of the joy out of life and then
- 20:53Speaker 1: when you've done that, come to some woman and give
- 20:56Speaker 1: her the leftovers.
- 20:58Speaker 2: That's what we're teaching young.
- 21:01Speaker 1: Not you need to have as a priority in your
- 21:05Speaker 1: mind that you were preparing to be a husband and
- 21:08Speaker 1: a father with a multi generational vision of raising up
- 21:12Speaker 1: arrows to launch for the sake of the Kingdom of God.
- 21:16Speaker 1: In your youth, protect your purity, and when you become
- 21:20Speaker 1: a man, guard yourself and pray that God would perchance grant.
- 21:26Speaker 2: Unto you in your youth.
- 21:29Speaker 1: A woman with whom you can start a Dynasty's how
- 21:35Speaker 1: I want my sons to think that people treated us
- 21:40Speaker 1: like there was a book in the Bible that we
- 21:42Speaker 1: hadn't read yet that said it was you know, second
- 21:44Speaker 1: Hesitations or something you know says thou shalt not marry
- 21:49Speaker 1: until after a graduation. You know, my Bible says when
- 21:55Speaker 1: a man finds a wife, he finds a good thing. Amen,
- 21:58Speaker 1: I'm like, wait a minute, man, I found my good thing.
- 22:01Speaker 1: You want me to wait? She might get away? Well,
- 22:08Speaker 1: you guys just need to You just need to hold off.
- 22:10Speaker 1: You just need to wait.
- 22:11Speaker 2: Why better to marry.
- 22:14Speaker 1: Than to burn with passion? I want her, but I
- 22:18Speaker 1: will not defile her. Therefore I'm going to marry her. Well,
- 22:26Speaker 1: you just need to wait. Two reasons I can't do that? Well,
- 22:32Speaker 1: what two reasons you can't do that? Number one, if
- 22:36Speaker 1: I asked my wife or my fiance to wait for
- 22:40Speaker 1: me to graduate before we get married, I am saying
- 22:42Speaker 1: to her that my education is more important to me
- 22:45Speaker 1: than my marriage.
- 22:46Speaker 2: And that's wrong.
- 22:50Speaker 1: No way in the world my education is more important
- 22:52Speaker 1: than my marriage, and I won't communicate that to her.
- 22:54Speaker 1: I won't start my marriage off by putting things before
- 22:57Speaker 1: my wife. Problem number two. The wisest man in the Bible,
- 23:05Speaker 1: the strongest man in the Bible, and the most godly
- 23:06Speaker 1: man in the Bible all fell into sexual sin. I
- 23:10Speaker 1: am not wiser than Solomon, I am not more godly
- 23:13Speaker 1: than David, and I am not stronger than Samson.
- 23:16Speaker 2: I need to get married. Is some of you out
- 23:24Speaker 2: there know exactly what I'm talking about.
- 23:27Speaker 1: Because you wanted These people will come up to me
- 23:28Speaker 1: sometime and say things like, yes, we're gonna get married
- 23:32Speaker 1: in the spring of twenty eleven. Help you see, we've
- 23:45Speaker 1: been taught to put everything else before marriage and family,
- 23:51Speaker 1: everything else. First time we see God saying that it's
- 23:57Speaker 1: not good. Here's the other thing that you see see
- 24:00Speaker 1: God saying, for this cause, shall a man leave his
- 24:02Speaker 1: mother and father and be united with his wife, cleave
- 24:08Speaker 1: unto his wife, be joined unto his wife. For this cause,
- 24:12Speaker 1: a man will leave his mother and father. Now, in
- 24:14Speaker 1: order to understand that, you gotta understand something that happens
- 24:16Speaker 1: later on in the law. We're already quoted from Ephesians
- 24:21Speaker 1: chapter six. What Paul says there to the church there
- 24:25Speaker 1: to in his Ephesian letter about the first commandment with
- 24:31Speaker 1: a promise, that's the fifth commandment. All right, so some
- 24:36Speaker 1: of y'all, I just helped you out. Okay, you're just
- 24:38Speaker 1: a little bit closer now to one of my daughters.
- 24:40Speaker 1: That's the fifth commandment.
- 24:41Speaker 2: Okay.
- 24:42Speaker 1: Now, sometimes the law is referred to as being written
- 24:44Speaker 1: in two tables, the two tables of the law. The
- 24:47Speaker 1: first four commandments are the vertical commandments about our duty
- 24:49Speaker 1: to God, the last six about our duty to man. Now,
- 24:52Speaker 1: here's what's interesting about that. You don't get a promise
- 24:55Speaker 1: until commandment number five. Now that's significant when you understand
- 25:01Speaker 1: what one through four are that don't have promises, and
- 25:05Speaker 1: I'll just paraphrase them for you. Commandment number one, I'm God,
- 25:08Speaker 1: you don't get another.
- 25:09Speaker 2: One, hey man.
- 25:12Speaker 1: That's the first commandment God. Can we get a promise
- 25:15Speaker 1: with that? Nope, no promise. Commandment number two, don't even
- 25:19Speaker 1: make nothing that look like me. Okay, we gotta get
- 25:26Speaker 1: a promise with that one. We can't even make a
- 25:28Speaker 1: little no, no promise, just do it. Commandment number three,
- 25:32Speaker 1: don't mess with my name.
- 25:35Speaker 2: Huh.
- 25:36Speaker 1: That's right. Don't even misuse my name. No, you're gonna
- 25:42Speaker 1: give us promise with that one?
- 25:44Speaker 2: Stuff slips halid thing. No, No.
- 25:49Speaker 1: Commandment number four work for six days, not on the seventh.
- 25:55Speaker 1: Don't even mess with my day. Can we get a
- 26:00Speaker 1: promise with that?
- 26:02Speaker 2: No? Commandment number five, honor your father and your mother.
- 26:08Speaker 2: With that one, I give you a promise.
- 26:14Speaker 1: You think that's not significant. It's the first one in
- 26:17Speaker 1: the second table. It's number one on the hip parade.
- 26:21Speaker 1: Honor your father and your mother. This commandment number five,
- 26:24Speaker 1: you know what it comes before. Six don't murder, seven,
- 26:29Speaker 1: don't commit adultery, eight, don't steal, nine, don't bear false witness,
- 26:37Speaker 1: ten don't covet. And so we see there in the
- 26:45Speaker 1: fifth commandment, this importance of honoring your mother and your father.
- 26:49Speaker 2: There's a commandment honor your mother and your father.
- 26:52Speaker 1: But what does God say about marriage, both in Genesis two.
- 26:56Speaker 2: And then again in Ephesians chapter five?
- 26:59Speaker 1: For this cause? What caused marriage? Shall you leave your
- 27:04Speaker 1: mother and father and be joined to your wife for
- 27:14Speaker 1: this cause that I'm gonna give you just just a
- 27:19Speaker 1: little glimpse into the importance of marriage and the economy
- 27:23Speaker 1: of God. Is every man called to be married. No,
- 27:31Speaker 1: there are some very few who have a special gift
- 27:34Speaker 1: or dispensation from God, and that's not part of the situation.
- 27:40Speaker 1: But whether you're married or not, you still are committed
- 27:46Speaker 1: to biblical family. Even in your own family. For example,
- 27:52Speaker 1: back in Ephesians chapter six, children obey your parents and
- 27:55Speaker 1: the Lord.
- 27:56Speaker 2: But this is right.
- 27:57Speaker 1: Honor your father and your mother, which is the first
- 27:58Speaker 1: commandment of the promise. So even in the context of
- 28:01Speaker 1: your home, whether you ever get married or not. Because
- 28:06Speaker 1: here's the question that my daughters want to ask me,
- 28:09Speaker 1: and I know you want to ask me that because
- 28:11Speaker 1: I'm your daddy. I know you okay, and you're going, okay, daddy.
- 28:15Speaker 1: How do we know if a man is committed to
- 28:17Speaker 1: marriage and family he's never had marriage, yeah, but he's
- 28:23Speaker 1: been part of a family. Is he obedient and respectful?
- 28:30Speaker 1: And does he honor his mother and father? If he doesn't,
- 28:34Speaker 1: he's not going to honor his marriage. So, daughters, don't
- 28:42Speaker 1: you bring me a disobedient, disrespectful son, because if I
- 28:49Speaker 1: wasn't willing to raise one, I'm not willing to let
- 28:52Speaker 1: you marry one into my family. Okay, does he understand
- 29:03Speaker 1: the biblical concept of family. Does he have a multi
- 29:06Speaker 1: generational vision? Does he view himself as a father? Is
- 29:10Speaker 1: he committed to children? Is he committed to that? Is
- 29:18Speaker 1: he committed to providing for you in such a way
- 29:20Speaker 1: that you can devote your life to those children.
- 29:23Speaker 2: Is he committed to that?
- 29:30Speaker 1: Or is he some pragmatic, utilitarian, materialistic American who sees
- 29:35Speaker 1: you as another wage earner so he can live in ease.
- 29:45Speaker 1: By the way, this was the minimalist version. There's a
- 29:50Speaker 1: whole lot more to it than this, But if we're
- 29:54Speaker 1: just stripping it down to the bare minimum, he must
- 29:58Speaker 1: be committed first and foremost to God honoring labor. Secondly,
- 30:06Speaker 1: he must be committed to God's law, And thirdly he
- 30:13Speaker 1: must be committed to a biblical multi generational view of family.
- 30:22Speaker 1: That is the very least that one would expect from
- 30:29Speaker 1: anyone who claims to exemplify biblical manhood.
- 30:33Speaker 2: And I know our time we need to start our
- 30:35Speaker 2: other profession
