- 0:00Who's got the squeaky chair now? You can hear
- 0:03that? Yeah. Dude, I have a fucking, you know,
- 0:07one of the cool things about this new house is
- 0:09that my neighbor is nonexistent. It's just an
- 0:10empty plot of land. Oh, nice. Fucking grass was
- 0:14huge, and I'm pretty sure there's fucking chupacabras
- 0:16in there. But it was nice because I got the other
- 0:20neighbors on the other side just fucking allergic
- 0:22to staying at home when they are away pretty
- 0:25much every day, every single day. And then the
- 0:29other side is an empty plot of land. So it was
- 0:31just like so peaceful, dude. It's like I got
- 0:34the place to hold myself. I can just masturbate
- 0:36as loud as I want. Yeah. But last week they started
- 0:41construction. They're going to build a house.
- 0:43To build a new spot right next to you. Yeah,
- 0:46dude. And now I'm like waking up in my boxers
- 0:48and I go to my living room. All the construction
- 0:51guys are watching you masturbate. Yeah, two fucking
- 0:55dudes going like, yeah, boy. And sometimes I'm
- 1:03having meetings in my job and people are just
- 1:06like, you know, going at it. Next door. You know,
- 1:09construction -wise, not having sex. I was like,
- 1:11what the fuck are they building up over there?
- 1:14Dude, they're like some perverted assholes building
- 1:17up. You want to pour some concrete? No, let's
- 1:21just... Fucking idiot. Yeah. They actually fucked
- 1:25while they were building it. That's how fucking.
- 1:27Yeah. They're, I mean, progressive dudes anyway.
- 1:32And, uh, Oh, apparently the guys in, uh, the
- 1:36guys in the meetings I have, uh, I'm asking them,
- 1:38do you hear any noise? So I'm sorry. And they're
- 1:41like, no, no, but you can hear the fucking chair
- 1:44squeaking. Yeah. I'll have, you know, I bought
- 1:47this shit. It's brand new. It's got like. a month
- 1:50or maybe two months well it was an expensive
- 1:53it's hard to get a good chair man it was an expensive
- 1:56buy it was a cheaper one but it just i don't
- 1:59understand why people would design a chair that
- 2:01forces you to fucking hunch it was awful yeah
- 2:05anyway um this chair squeaks a little bit but
- 2:09only if i lean back no so yeah so you're gonna
- 2:13have to learn how to play take over on the chair
- 2:15solos now so yeah anime metalscape's back And
- 2:19we're talking anime. No better authority on it
- 2:26than us. I mean, why not, right? Yeah, why not?
- 2:33I get to talk to my good friend Ron again. It's
- 2:34been so long. We're both old. Life has beaten
- 2:38us down, but we're still here. I've got a joint
- 2:43in my finger locked up. I'm looking at getting
- 2:45surgery for. My back hurts. Really? yeah man
- 2:49bro you was fucked up you're looking to get surgery
- 2:53fuck it's a simple like tendon thing or something
- 2:58but but yeah i've got trigger finger on my right
- 3:00middle finger i can't bend it is that is that
- 3:03from uh your two tours on afghanistan or what
- 3:06um i think i i think i i played bass for too
- 3:12long one day and then fucking holy shit dude
- 3:16And then fucked up my tendon and then never like
- 3:18splinted it or did anything to like heal it.
- 3:20So now there's just a massive like cartilage
- 3:23or something around my tendon and it's getting
- 3:25stuck in the sheath. That's what the doctor called
- 3:29it. So it's like a sheath in a tube. Sounds an
- 3:32awful lot like a penis. And then he put his finger
- 3:33through his circle and his other fingers like
- 3:36he was fucking something. Is your doctor gay?
- 3:40I don't think so. I mean, anyway, yeah. So when
- 3:46did you start noticing these changes in your
- 3:51body? It creeps up on you, man, you know. Yeah,
- 3:55like all of a sudden you sound like a gentleman.
- 3:59Sir, I'm inclined to call you sir. Sir, thank
- 4:03you for letting me be on your podcast, sir. My
- 4:07village will be proud. I haven't talked to no
- 4:13mic in so long. Really? Maybe I'm putting on
- 4:16a little something. I don't know. No, you're
- 4:20based. I sound cool, right? Your baseline is
- 4:23very, very different. Maybe it's from all the
- 4:26smoking. Or you don't smoke. I don't know. I
- 4:28quit. I don't smoke anymore. I haven't really
- 4:30smoked. I smoked for quite some time. I vaped
- 4:34for a long time, but now I don't even do that.
- 4:36Oh, my God. Well, I got back into the habit of
- 4:41trying to quit again. Fucking fucks you up. Yeah.
- 4:47It's no good. No bueno. It's no bueno, man. Everyone
- 4:51thought too long ago. I bought a pack. Oh, I'm
- 4:54sorry. After my mom died. Huh? Camels. No, the
- 4:58American spirits. Oh yeah. Sorry. You're all
- 5:01about the American spirits. Um, sorry about hanging
- 5:05out with like my two. Oh yeah. Thank you. Yeah.
- 5:09Thank you. Um, But yeah, I was hanging out like
- 5:11with family a lot and some of them, a couple
- 5:13of them smoked. So I was like, you know what?
- 5:15That sounds kind of good. And then I smoked the
- 5:17whole pack, but like half a cigarette at a time
- 5:20because I'd get through half of it. And then
- 5:21I'd be all of a sudden be like, this is fucking,
- 5:22it tastes nasty. Yeah, true. And the thing for
- 5:28me is that it doesn't, it starts feeling or tasting
- 5:31nasty after like the 15th cigarette. And then
- 5:35you're like. And then next morning, that's where
- 5:38I really get fucked up because, you know, I feel
- 5:41it in my lungs. They're like, you know, they
- 5:44took a hit. Oh, wow. And it's like I'm groggy
- 5:47and I don't have the same energy. It just fucks
- 5:50me up. What'd they put in the Nicaraguan cigarettes?
- 5:52Fucking no idea, dude. It's nasty shit. So this
- 5:58is an anime podcast because unbeknownst. Or rather.
- 6:04Beknownst. But no, I don't know. When we did
- 6:07Metal Skip, did you watch anime? No. You didn't?
- 6:12I did not. No. I never got into it as a kid.
- 6:15Like, it would be on. I didn't have any full
- 6:18-on, like, weeb friends. But, you know, after
- 6:21school and stuff, like, fucking Dragon Ball would
- 6:24be on. And I could never get into it. I tried
- 6:26to get into it a couple times. I'm like, it seems
- 6:28cool. Yeah. We will find out why in a later episode.
- 6:34Your tastes are somewhat particular, but it's
- 6:40cool. I mean, that's the beauty of anime. Something
- 6:43for everyone. Exactly. It's so crazy how, you
- 6:47know, whether there's stories I'm interested
- 6:49or not, just the thing, the stories that are
- 6:52there, it's like no one would ever fucking make
- 6:53a, spend money to produce something like this.
- 6:56Yeah. I was, I was watching. Anywhere else but
- 6:58Japan. I was watching a fucking anime about gambling,
- 7:01you know? Have you seen that? I don't remember
- 7:03the name. It's about this girl that she's fucking
- 7:05so good at gambling. And she enrolls, of course,
- 7:08in a fucking high school. That is because, you
- 7:11know, high schools in anime, they are run, they're
- 7:14institutions with impunity to kill, kidnap, topple
- 7:19government, whatever the fuck you want. And they
- 7:21are run, but it's still in council. Yeah. Also,
- 7:26I talked to, apparently that's not, I mean, it's.
- 7:31Sort of off base, but not really. The school
- 7:34really does have a lot of control over there
- 7:37on kids outside of school. When they're bad and
- 7:40stuff, it looks bad on the school. I hate to
- 7:42interrupt you, but I gotta go. I ordered some
- 7:45dinner. Let me just go get it. Be right back.
- 7:48Okay. Talk amongst yourselves. What is that?
- 7:53You hear that ring ring? Let's guess what Ron
- 7:58got for dinner. It's fucking, you know, chilling
- 8:01in my boxers. On El Uber Eats. I was about to
- 8:07guess what you got for dinner, and then I was
- 8:09wondering how you ordered it, and I said, El
- 8:11Uber Eats. Uber. Is Uber owned by the German
- 8:17multinational that pretty much owns all food
- 8:20delivery shit now? I don't know. You don't know?
- 8:23I don't even know about this multinational. Oh,
- 8:25my God, dude. It's like, do you ever see? no
- 8:30maybe not because i saw i was watching a netflix
- 8:33show the other day you know like a month ago
- 8:35it was about this girl who owns a basketball
- 8:38team and there was a she you know all the characters
- 8:42in that fucking show got delivery and they were
- 8:45like very prominent you know like a huge fucking
- 8:47uh brown box with the logo on it with the door
- 8:52dash door dash that door dash yeah yeah so door
- 8:56dash is owned by the uh with this German multinational.
- 8:59They do all of Europe and a whole bunch of fucking
- 9:02countries. It was a fucking slaughterhouse in
- 9:05Nicaragua a couple of days, a couple of years
- 9:07ago because all these companies started popping
- 9:09up and then they all got bought out by this company
- 9:12in El Salvador. And then the Germans came and
- 9:15they were like nine and they just fucking bought
- 9:18everyone. Wow. And so we got the same logo, but
- 9:22it's got a different name. Dutch. El Dordasho.
- 9:30Dordasho, yeah. No, it's called pedidos ya. What's
- 9:36pedidos? That's a word. Request. I request now.
- 9:42Because you request, you ask or request your
- 9:45food and it's now. Okay. That's pretty good.
- 9:49Yeah, and over here we have Dordasho's big, Uber
- 9:52Eats is big. Those are probably the two bigger
- 9:55ones. Those are the ones, like, even if you order,
- 9:58some restaurants are like, oh, we do our, just
- 10:00order through our website and we'll deliver.
- 10:02And on the back end, it's really just going to
- 10:04fucking DoorDash. Asshole. Same price as in the
- 10:09restaurant. No, dude, it's like a hundred bucks.
- 10:11Oh, hell no. What are you talking about? What
- 10:14are you talking about? Got myself a chicken wrap.
- 10:21Man, God, these are the saddest rides I've seen
- 10:24in my life. Oh, chicken wrapping fries with a
- 10:28little McDonald's action or what? I don't know.
- 10:30It was called some local restaurant here in Tijuana,
- 10:34which is a municipality that I live. Oh, yeah.
- 10:41Do they have ghost kitchens down there? What
- 10:43are those? It's when like it's listed on there
- 10:47is like over here at a lot. It'll be like the
- 10:50fucking. nacho shack or something and all they'll
- 10:53have is different types of nachos you know like
- 10:54i've never seen this fucking nacho shack anywhere
- 10:56ever and it turns out it's some dude in his kitchen
- 10:59who just gave gave uh uh doordash a p .o box
- 11:04and he cooks all this food out of his kitchen
- 11:07and they send it out sounds fucking like a nightmare
- 11:10so this one single guy is cooking all fucking
- 11:13but it's not always just one guy it's not always
- 11:17it just it's different you know but but yeah
- 11:19there are restaurants that don't actually exist
- 11:21like they don't have a physical place they just
- 11:23they just don't have tables yeah and sometimes
- 11:26it's out of someone's house although i think
- 11:27they've cracked down on that a lot yeah don't
- 11:30you aren't you supposed to have some sort of
- 11:31like license you're supposed to okay um um and
- 11:39then a lot of the restaurants like i know ihop
- 11:42which is a over here it's like a chain of Like,
- 11:44diners are known for, like, their breakfast foods.
- 11:47The International House of Pancakes. I know why
- 11:48I know this. Okay. I don't know. I mean, I didn't
- 11:55know if they had them over there in Florida.
- 11:58It's a great fucking pilot episode. So, Zach,
- 12:01did you watch Anime as a kid? No. Hated it. No.
- 12:07Couldn't fucking get into it. I don't know what
- 12:09the fuck was these guys thinking. Fucking weebs.
- 12:11Dweebs. looking at fucking animated muscly man
- 12:17just you know going at it it's so many of even
- 12:20when i got like a little older like in high school
- 12:22so many of them sounded cool like fucking demons
- 12:25this and that and oh it's about this guy fighting
- 12:29hell and his dad is the is the fucking queen
- 12:33of whatever and then i'd watch it i was just
- 12:37so fucking gay it's pretty gay anime is pretty
- 12:42gay You know, it's a whole. It is, but now I
- 12:44love it. It's a whole bunch. It's a bunch. It's
- 12:46a bunch of feelings in it. Yeah. Monologues.
- 12:50Oh, yeah. I've never cried so much. Fucking people.
- 12:55I asked my AI, I'm like, recommend me like a
- 12:57tearjerker movie to watch tonight when I get
- 13:00home. I'm trying to feel something. Oh, my God.
- 13:05Sad. Yeah, that's 30 sad, dude. I don't think
- 13:10I've actually ever cried from an anime or. Any
- 13:13movie. Oh, have I got a list? Oh, my God. Well,
- 13:18dude, send it over. Did you get on our private
- 13:23server? Yeah, but I think the access. I'm sorry.
- 13:29I logged in after like a month and a half. You
- 13:33shared the link, and I think the credentials
- 13:34don't work anymore. Oh, you know what? I can't
- 13:38remember if I shared it to you. I did it at Switch
- 13:39Hosts at some point. I might have shared it before.
- 13:41There you go. Before that. I'll have to redo
- 13:44it. What was the first anime you watched? Because
- 13:46you're waiting on like, you're trying to watch
- 13:48like something on the new season of Freerun or
- 13:51something, but I had it all on there. You do
- 13:53have it? Because fucking Netflix is not going
- 13:55to accommodate me. And I'm not paying for Crunchyroll.
- 13:58I mean, I like anime. If it's out on Crunchyroll,
- 14:02then yes, I have it. Because, yeah. I mean, I
- 14:06like anime. I watch anime while we were doing
- 14:10Medalscape. A huge fan. Yeah, I don't remember.
- 14:15We never talked about it. I figured I would have
- 14:17made fun of you more for it back then. I mean,
- 14:20I wasn't a huge fan. I mean, I probably watched
- 14:23a couple, you know, like probably the most popular
- 14:26ones. And besides, if you wanted to watch anime
- 14:32back then, back in my day, you either had to
- 14:35like live in Japan or, you know, watch whatever
- 14:40the fuck was on TV at the time. Which was in
- 14:43my day, you know, as a kid coming back from school.
- 14:47What did I watch? Dragon Ball, of course. Eva,
- 14:55Neon Genesis Evangelion. And I think Sailor Moon
- 15:02was available, but did not watch it. So you were
- 15:05watching Evangelion when you were like... Eight.
- 15:12Yeah. I didn't, couldn't figure it out. Still
- 15:15can't figure out what the fuck is going on there.
- 15:19Um, yeah. When, when usually when, whenever I
- 15:23used to get drunk around, fuck my ex wife's friends
- 15:27or like younger, they were like, Oh yeah, this
- 15:30movie, this good movie is coming out. I'm like,
- 15:33when you say whenever I used to get drunk around
- 15:35my ex wife's friends, it sounds like they weren't
- 15:36drinking. You were just next to them getting
- 15:38drunk. No, I mean, we were at social gatherings
- 15:41and stuff. Yeah, yeah. On trips. You were drinking
- 15:44with your exes. I was drinking with them, you
- 15:47know, not like around them. And they go like,
- 15:52their younger guy is like, right? And they're
- 15:56like, oh, yeah, this new movie is coming out.
- 15:59And the plot is like this and this and this.
- 16:01I'm like, you know, that's a straight ripoff
- 16:05of Evangelion because these guys invented sci
- 16:07-fi, dude. Back in 91, dude. Yeah. So, yeah,
- 16:13I've come to appreciate it more as I get older
- 16:16and lonelier and sadder. Mm -hmm. Well, that's
- 16:20a good thing about anime. Good anime fucking
- 16:22stays with you and is relevant for your lifetime.
- 16:28Yeah. I also saw Ranman Half. Oh, I've been meaning
- 16:34to watch that, actually. But I watched it when
- 16:36I was a kid. The dude who turns into a girl when
- 16:39he gets wet or something like that? Yeah. Hot
- 16:43water or cold water or something like that. And,
- 16:46you know, he gets into all kinds of shenanigans.
- 16:49It's silly. You don't expect a huge fucking story
- 16:53arc or deep characters. No, I like the silly
- 16:56shit. I like the boring slice of life stuff.
- 17:02It's like comfort food for me. i mean i read
- 17:06manga and everything um that was one that i didn't
- 17:11mind so so when i was younger i was dragon ball
- 17:14and stuff i got a little older like on cartoon
- 17:16network they would do they would do um yasha
- 17:21and fucking yeah yeah and then mtv used to have
- 17:26like aeon flux on there um and all that i need
- 17:30to go back and watch it all i was like kid i'd
- 17:32see it i was like something seems special about
- 17:34this like it looks kind of cool but i don't know
- 17:36what's going on it was just a little above my
- 17:38head um but the one i did like to watch sometimes
- 17:42was detective conan i don't remember that one
- 17:45it's a it's a it's like a kid a kid of genius
- 17:51um detective and it was just every episode was
- 17:53just him solving a crime it's like fucking watching
- 17:56murder she wrote it smart anime is fucking good
- 18:01You know, like freaking Death Note. Yeah, I've
- 18:05been hearing about this Death Note. Sounds cool.
- 18:07It's pretty cool. It's a classic, dude. It's
- 18:09very smart anime. What does that mean, smart?
- 18:13I mean smart whenever... Fuck, I'm sorry. I'm
- 18:17on battery and fucking monitors just keep turning
- 18:20off. I gotta fucking plug the power cord. My
- 18:24hands are all greasy. Anyway, smart, whenever
- 18:28I say smart anime is... When the writing combines
- 18:31whatever the plot is, you know, it's got going
- 18:36on at the moment. When the writing has plot?
- 18:40Exactly. Leave me alone, man. When there's writing,
- 18:46shit happens. Shit happens. It's smart. I'm like,
- 18:52oh, words. No, no. What I mean to say is when
- 18:56there's a... When they inject like some sort
- 19:00of, you know, science concepts or philosophy
- 19:04or historical stuff or just, you know, cool concepts
- 19:10and they make it work for the character or for
- 19:13the story in a way that is comes kind of like
- 19:16sometimes crucial to the whole thing. So it kind
- 19:20of grounds you, kind of makes you feel like you're
- 19:23watching something that. That you can relate
- 19:26to. On a. Or something that will leave you thinking.
- 19:30After you watch it. But oh yeah. It was really
- 19:33cool when they did that. Because of this. And
- 19:34this. And this. And of course they had to do
- 19:36that. Because you know. That character makes
- 19:38sense. You would do that. That's cool. Or when
- 19:43they get really into it. You know. Like that
- 19:44gambling. Anime. It sounds silly. You know. High
- 19:48school. It was run by a fucking. By the gambling
- 19:51club. So then they. They go to like the super.
- 19:54The. high school for all the best gamblers were
- 19:56all the best gamblers exactly and they and there's
- 19:59like a game there's a rival gambling high school
- 20:01i i don't know i didn't get that far probably
- 20:03season two but uh but it's like uh they're not
- 20:08you know playing cards they're playing like really
- 20:10weird fucking games but it's like a different
- 20:13game in each episode and it's got all these made
- 20:15up rules and there's like really smart ways that
- 20:17this girl's defeating the cheaters and all that
- 20:20Really cool. Okay. I could probably get into
- 20:22that, actually. I do want to. I'll get the name
- 20:24of that one. Or you could tell us all. I don't
- 20:27remember the name, but Karakuguri, Karaguri,
- 20:30something like that. And they go kind of like,
- 20:32I think she's getting. And the English, por favor.
- 20:36Dude, we got to learn some Japanese. I can't.
- 20:40Karakuguri. Yes. Good morning. Excuse me. But
- 20:45she gets turned on. Itadakimasu. She gets turned
- 20:48on. But, you know, whenever there's like, all
- 20:51right, here's the game, bitch. You get it wrong
- 20:53and I will stab you in the ass. And she's like,
- 20:57oh, my God. The risk is so high. Oh, no, not
- 21:01my ass. It turns me on. So, no, it's not that,
- 21:04you know, graphical. It's like she's going to
- 21:07get killed or something and she fucking just
- 21:09gets off on the risk. She's like, oh, my God,
- 21:11this is so exciting. Okay. I could like that.
- 21:16Okay, so. what was i gonna say because i do like
- 21:19when it's like some of that what was the first
- 21:21anime i guess it's almost like a weird form of
- 21:23sport anime sports anime or something i watched
- 21:27that soccer anime when i was young never seen
- 21:30that i want to be that guy you know dudes were
- 21:32like flying up in the air and just you know fucking
- 21:36duking it out like 30 minutes up in the air it
- 21:38wouldn't come down or just you know shoot a football
- 21:41or a soccer ball you guys call it From across
- 21:46the field and the fucking ball. Oh, yeah. Pierce
- 21:49the net and destroy, make a hole in the fucking
- 21:51stadium and some shit. Pretty cool. I also watched
- 21:55that, the one with, ended in this giant fucking
- 21:59robot cutting his enemies in a cross shape, you
- 22:03know. They would blow up. I don't know. I don't
- 22:07remember what the hell was that, but what I'm
- 22:11trying to say is. I didn't actually, I don't
- 22:12know if I got into anime. It was just what was
- 22:16on TV for me. Oh, I like that. And as a kid,
- 22:19it's not, it doesn't really take much for you
- 22:22to get into anime. If you're a kid, you know,
- 22:23you got flashy colors, fucking cool action, cool
- 22:27characters. And somewhat, and the plot you can
- 22:31follow. That's not, you know, like what the fuck
- 22:33else are you going to watch? Looney Tunes. I
- 22:35mean, there were Looney Tunes, but it was just,
- 22:37you can only get so much of the fucking. Even
- 22:42as a kid, like, Dragon Ball, like, I would notice,
- 22:45though. I'd be like, wait a minute. I've been
- 22:47watching this shit for 15 minutes. And, like,
- 22:49they haven't done anything. They've just been,
- 22:51like, arguing with each other. Talking about
- 22:54how bad he's going to kick his ass. Did you just
- 22:58start it with Dragon Ball Z or Dragon Ball? I
- 23:02think it was Z. I don't know. It was just on
- 23:05sometimes. Well, you've got to watch Dragon Ball.
- 23:08You'll get into it because that's like the start
- 23:10and it starts out. I think, I think you'd like
- 23:14it because it's very, very cute, very tender,
- 23:17very good characters. Stories is nice. Maybe
- 23:21I'll check it out. Dragon Ball. Does anyone fall
- 23:24in love? No. It's fighting anime. Only love is
- 23:29for the thrill of battle. I mean, there's some
- 23:33cheeky, funny stuff, but what would you say?
- 23:36What was the first anime that, like, clicked
- 23:39for you that went like, oh, yeah, I want more
- 23:41of this? I could tell you right now. Oh. The
- 23:45exact second one. And I didn't even, I read the
- 23:49manga first. So you got into manga before anime?
- 23:52Yeah, just barely. Okay. I had some comic app
- 23:57or whatever, and I started reading something
- 24:00that popped up. It was like, oh, this is popular.
- 24:02And it was a manga called Toradora. and then
- 24:06i reached to the end of whatever volume and the
- 24:08story didn't finish and i'm like oh is it still
- 24:10going and then i learned that there was a already
- 24:13an anime like way before the manga ever came
- 24:15out and it was based on a like a what do they
- 24:17call them a light novel or whatever okay um so
- 24:22i was like oh the story's already told and everything
- 24:23and then i i read some good stuff about the uh
- 24:27the anime and i i think i watched it in all in
- 24:31about two days or something because i got hooked
- 24:33And then I was like, okay, I've never seen an
- 24:35anime like this. It's like a sweet freaking love
- 24:39story. I mean, pretty basic or whatever, but
- 24:41there were some funny moments. There's a rom
- 24:44-com. In the romance anime, it's very well known.
- 24:53Toradora, you said the name was? Yeah. it means
- 24:59like tiger and dragon or something like that
- 25:01or it's like a play on the words tiger and dragon
- 25:03um because it's this it's like the the mean girl
- 25:07at school and and the other then the weird guy
- 25:12and then they both find out that their crushes
- 25:16are the other one's best friend oh my god no
- 25:18um so they're like oh i'll help you get together
- 25:21with her and you hit get together with him and
- 25:24then Most of it is all that, and they all, of
- 25:28course, you know, at the end, they realize they
- 25:31loved each other the whole time and all that
- 25:33kind of stuff. Okay, so because you are, I would
- 25:38not be a stretch to say your favorite genre of
- 25:41anime is romance or something along those lines.
- 25:45Yeah, or rom -com. Yeah, yeah. So the first anime
- 25:48that made it click for you was a romantic anime.
- 25:53Yeah. all right that makes sense i'd say rom
- 25:55-com there wasn't like lots of romantic scenes
- 25:58or anything but it was yeah it was just about
- 26:01the you know their cute little moments and stuff
- 26:03oh that's cool i mean coming from the uh but
- 26:06it but very much introduced you know the concept
- 26:09of a tsundere or whatever the fuck they call
- 26:12it what is that it's like the girl who's like
- 26:16it's not like i like you or anything but she
- 26:18very much does anime being silly you know I mean,
- 26:2395 % of plot in anime is just severely, people
- 26:29who lack severe social skills. That's basically
- 26:34it most of the time. I think that's why there's
- 26:38a lot of elements of like farce almost in a lot
- 26:44of the comedy where it's like, yeah, it's kind
- 26:46of a stretch to be like, really, this person
- 26:48didn't notice this or that. But I do tend to
- 26:52like that comedy where it's only funny because
- 26:53I know exactly what's going on and no one else
- 26:57in the fucking show does. Sure. We need to pause
- 27:02because my fucking cat got out. She made a break
- 27:07for it. Where were you keeping her? Inside the
- 27:10house. She's not an outdoorsy cat. Oh, she got
- 27:15out of the house. Okay. Yeah, she got out of
- 27:17the house. She's eight months old. She got out
- 27:18of the cage. Nah. Okay, you better go catch her.
- 27:21I don't know where the fuck she is. She's just,
- 27:24she's crazy. All right, I'll be right back. All
- 27:27right. Back, sir. Back? All right, let's see.
- 27:31Let me make a mark here. Cat found. Oh, sorry
- 27:34about that. Yeah, she just likes to sneak off.
- 27:37Welcome back. Thank you. Did she run to his,
- 27:41was she hard to catch when she's outside? Did
- 27:43she run away from you? No, found her a couple
- 27:45of houses over on the sidewalk, just sniffing
- 27:48some sand. And then she turned around and saw
- 27:51me. And we just like crossed, you know, what
- 27:56do you call it? Our eyes met. And I gave her
- 28:00the, what the fuck do you think you're doing?
- 28:03And she was like, oh, snap. And then I just,
- 28:07you know, gestured to like get the fuck back
- 28:10in the house. And she just fucking darted right
- 28:11back in. Oh, really? That's good. Nice. She knows
- 28:15her home. Hopefully. I mean, I would let her
- 28:18out more often or wherever she likes, but there's
- 28:21a bunch of stray cats and dogs around here. I'm
- 28:24just scared they're going to eat her. Yeah. Yeah,
- 28:27it's not safe for them. Yeah. How did you end
- 28:33up with a cat? Did you go out with the intention
- 28:38to adopt a cat? After my divorce, I was feeling
- 28:44kind of lonely. So, and then a friend of mine
- 28:49who has a cat, she was going away on a trip,
- 28:53three -week trip to Barcelona. I'm like, that's
- 28:58good for you. I'm just here fucking, you know,
- 29:01brokenhearted and jobless. But hey, cool news
- 29:05on the Barcelona trip. And she was like, hope
- 29:08you enjoy your vacation. Yeah, fucking go enjoy
- 29:11life, bitch. Fucking awesome right now for you.
- 29:16And she was like, can you take care of my cat?
- 29:17I'm like, fuck, dude. And she lived close by
- 29:21back then. It was like a 10 -minute trip to her
- 29:25house. But I would just have to go every night
- 29:28to her house to fucking feed the cat. I'm like,
- 29:32this is nuts, bro. So I just took her in, spent
- 29:35three weeks with her, and just loved having a
- 29:38cat. Yeah, they grow on you. I love cats, too.
- 29:41I wish I could have one. Why can't you have?
- 29:43They don't allow pets in your... no they do but
- 29:46i'm just gone it's wouldn't i mean the cat would
- 29:49survive but i'm gone at least three three days
- 29:52a week if not four um get two cats yeah i've
- 29:58thought about it if i did get some i would have
- 30:00to get like a bonded older pair that isn't running
- 30:02around here it's a small place though yeah and
- 30:05starts to smell like cat shit yeah and ideally
- 30:08yes you should have someone to look in on them
- 30:11at least once you know when you're away yeah
- 30:13i suppose So I did have an itch to take care
- 30:18of something, so I got a snake. You got a snake?
- 30:22Mm -hmm. I think he likes it better when I'm
- 30:24gone anyway. It's just the house is all dark
- 30:26and fucking... What's its name? Sir Hissalot.
- 30:30Of course. But yeah, he really doesn't care when
- 30:35he's left alone. At this point, he's full grown,
- 30:38so he eats close to every two weeks. shits once
- 30:43every two weeks nice how large is it is he uh
- 30:47he's about three feet it's a ball python they
- 30:52don't get they don't get too big there's a green
- 30:54no he's actually um his pattern is called leopard
- 30:59oh we can use during our during our pilot i can
- 31:03use it to send you an image on this program we're
- 31:05using and test that out fancy that my friend
- 31:09how did you get your uh Oh, I see what you did.
- 31:14What? Whoa. How did you do the applause sound
- 31:18effects when I... Oh, on the side. Oh, sure.
- 31:22That helps a fucking lot. The side. You see where
- 31:26it says people, chat, stream, brand, text, media.
- 31:29It's under media. Probably because it's your
- 31:31studio. I don't have media. I only have people
- 31:33in chat. Oh, really? Yeah. I wonder if I can
- 31:35make you like a... Co -author. Yeah. pin move
- 31:40to backstage turn on camera so what was your
- 31:44first anime that you were like oh i could i could
- 31:46get into this i want to watch some more of this
- 31:49i want to dive deeper hmm the one that made me
- 31:53dive deeper probably code gs because at the time
- 32:01i was dating this girl who was really into anime
- 32:03i was like bitch have you have you seen dragon
- 32:06ball that's it You don't need to watch any more
- 32:10than that. And she was like, oh my God, like
- 32:12Dragon Ball is like such a kiddie. Stupid anime.
- 32:17It's just, dude, Spidey. Is that the cat or is
- 32:21that your chair? No, it's a cat. I came here
- 32:24to get some chocolate milk and this girl thinks
- 32:27every time I come to the kitchen, it's something
- 32:29for her. So yeah, Lelouch, you ever watch it,
- 32:32Code GS? No. It's about some rich kid who secretly.
- 32:39You know, there's this world where, like, I don't
- 32:43know what world war or whatever. England now
- 32:46pretty much controls the entire planet. Oh, okay.
- 32:49And so this rich kid who's, I think he's royalty.
- 32:52He's like nephew or something of the emperor.
- 32:56But he lives in Japan because Japan is, you know,
- 32:59a colony of the Britannic Empire. Yes. And he
- 33:04fucking hates his family, dude. Hate them. Fucking
- 33:08suck. And there's a bunch of colonizers. Fucking
- 33:11assholes. And there's this group of like rebels.
- 33:17And is that your snake? Yeah. That's pretty cool,
- 33:23dude. And there's another one of them. It's pretty
- 33:27sleek. It's a little fat. This was kind of a
- 33:33while ago. He's probably half the size he is
- 33:35now in that picture. That's pretty cool. So they
- 33:39sold out a little bit, but yeah. So there's a,
- 33:43so, you know, the kid is like royalty who hates
- 33:48his family. And then there's the rebels who are
- 33:53plotting against, you know, they don't want the
- 33:56rule of the British Empire, at least not for
- 33:59Japan. Yeah, for sure. And then there's this
- 34:02girl. comes out of nowhere i think she's an alien
- 34:06or some shit big tits no she's more like you
- 34:11know slim pale type with green hair green hair
- 34:16i like that type long green hair she suddenly
- 34:19she suddenly appears i think in our protagonist's
- 34:23bedroom or something instead of trying to have
- 34:25sex with her he ignores her because you know
- 34:28he's just way too cool for girls dude and she
- 34:32would never go out with a guy like me no she's
- 34:35he's just like yeah i've seen fucking pillowcases
- 34:39more interesting than you or like oh one of those
- 34:43you know he's got more pressing issues on his
- 34:45mind like trying to fucking destroy his family
- 34:47okay yeah fucking girls she would never understand
- 34:51she's such a simple person but she's like an
- 34:56alien or something and uh She bestows upon him
- 35:01the GSI or the, I don't know, something. It's
- 35:08a superpower or an ability that allows him to
- 35:13tell people what to do and they have to do it.
- 35:18He has to look at him in the eye. I think the
- 35:22power is like in one of his eyes, left or right,
- 35:24I don't know. So he's like. Oh, I just was like,
- 35:27Code Geass. Okay, I've seen that name. Geass.
- 35:31Geass. I've always said Geass. That's what it
- 35:34is. Like, Geass. I'm sorry, Geass. Tomato, tomato.
- 35:40I searched anime GSI Lucha. Lucha. Lucha? Lelucha?
- 35:47Guy's name is Lelucha. But I found it. So that's
- 35:50what that's about. Yes, and the guy uses this
- 35:53power. To start fucking shit up in high school.
- 35:57Because, you know, the girl that's maybe an alien
- 36:02with the green hair, the guy who hates his family,
- 36:05and a couple of guys from the rebellion, they're
- 36:08all in the same high school, obviously. Mm -hmm.
- 36:12Mm -hmm. So you get your high school hijinks,
- 36:17and you get your deeper... political plotting
- 36:21and the guy uses his power to become the leader
- 36:23of the rebellion. It's really good. Okay. That's
- 36:27what I was, I was going to ask is like, is it
- 36:29a more of a story about him, like the character
- 36:33or is it about like the broader picture of like
- 36:36political intrigue and stuff? Yeah, it's, it's,
- 36:39it's, it's got it all. I don't think it has much
- 36:42romance. I don't really like, well, I mean, I
- 36:44don't mind if it doesn't have romance, but I
- 36:46like, you know, those. I used to be more into
- 36:49fantasy, but like the fucking Game of Thrones
- 36:52where at the end it's like, okay, it's just fucking,
- 36:54well, if you marry this person, I'll send you
- 36:58over here to fucking fuck that person and then
- 37:00they'll get mad and they'll start a war with
- 37:03these people and blah, blah, blah. It's like,
- 37:04okay. Nah, it's not much of that. Okay. A lot
- 37:09of, whenever you see anime that's like political
- 37:13or, you know, or there's the military. is part
- 37:20of the story, which is one of the things I was
- 37:23telling you about why I like anime or what I
- 37:26would like to discuss about anime. You get a
- 37:29sense because Japan, you know, here comes a bit
- 37:33of history lesson. All right, we're ready. Japan
- 37:36got, they got nuked the shit out of them, dude,
- 37:39back in the 40s. A couple times. The US of A
- 37:44dropped two nukes on them. They were like, Oppenheimer,
- 37:48what you got? I call it the nuclear bombs. And
- 37:52they were like, cool, let's drop them on the
- 37:54Japs. They dropped two of them. Please don't.
- 37:59I don't think it's a good idea. Fuck you. They
- 38:03dropped them and they got the emperor of Japan,
- 38:07who was at the time, you know, considered fucking
- 38:09a deity, a god, descended straight from the heavens
- 38:14to rule. over the islands where the sun never
- 38:18sets or where the sun is born they got uh they
- 38:22got i think it was irohito i don't know what
- 38:25the fuck his name was but anyway they got the
- 38:27emperor of japan that sounded pretty good they
- 38:30got they got him to come out of his fucking palace
- 38:33onto the uss uh fuck you japan or whatever the
- 38:38hell it was called and he personally surrendered
- 38:41to some general i remember And, uh, and then
- 38:47the U S was like, the only term is unconditional
- 38:51surrender, which also means you can never have
- 38:54an army or rather, uh, what we call defensive,
- 38:59an offensive military force. Oh, okay. And so
- 39:02they've been, I think up until recently where
- 39:05the new Japanese prime minister, who's a lady,
- 39:08she was like, fuck China. You know what? If you
- 39:12Chinese don't like it, we'll fuck you, too. Yeah.
- 39:17Unfortunately, if she said that, I'm sure America,
- 39:21the way it is right now, is probably whoever's
- 39:24in charge is like, yeah, you're right. Fuck them.
- 39:25Go ahead. Fuck them. No. Because, you know, the
- 39:29U .S. Yeah, you fuck them. We'll watch. Fuck
- 39:32them. Is it going to be a crunch roll? The U
- 39:38.S. is sitting in its little cook chair watching
- 39:40Japan fuck China. Fuck that Chinese. Wait, who's
- 39:45a Japanese? Oh, you can't see that anymore. I
- 39:49don't think you can see that. This is a 2008.
- 39:52What the fuck? Who's who? God damn it. I can't
- 39:58tell these Asians apart. I almost said Asian
- 40:01American. Look at these Asian Americans. Fucking
- 40:06Asians. Damn it. Anyway, so Japan has had in
- 40:12its history. Trump probably says Oriental. I
- 40:15can see him dropping an Oriental. Jesus Christ.
- 40:17I bet he would. Japan has always had this thing,
- 40:21you know, where they basically, like you said,
- 40:24could hold it for their entire, or at least from
- 40:28World War II. They're not allowed to have a large
- 40:31army. They're not allowed to. you know, fucking
- 40:34shoot at people. And so whenever there's a lot
- 40:37of themes or this recurrent theme of Japan not
- 40:41being in control of their own sovereignty or
- 40:43being in control of their will as a government,
- 40:47as a country, because of the Americans or because
- 40:50of what happened, it can always, or not always,
- 40:53but most of the time you will see it in anime.
- 40:55So that's why you have Lelouch, where Japan is
- 40:58a colony of a Western power. And they're trying
- 41:01to, you know, break free. Which you could say
- 41:04is a fantasy. It's science fiction. There's a
- 41:06lot of, you know, giant robots. There's giant
- 41:09robots in Kojiya's. I mean, you gotta have giant
- 41:11robots. But this whole thing of nationalism,
- 41:16of, you know, getting your throat off of the
- 41:19Western oppressor's boot. Boot? How do you say
- 41:24boot in English? Boot, yeah. It's our current
- 41:28theme. I think. Oh, like getting out from under
- 41:32the boot. Okay, got it. You got me, bro. Okay,
- 41:35that's definitely a blind spot of mine. It's
- 41:37political anime. We'll have to check some of
- 41:39that out. I don't think there's a whole bunch.
- 41:42There probably is, but some of the anime has
- 41:45political undertones or political themes. It's
- 41:48interesting. I mean, as any work of art, it is
- 41:53a reflection of the artist and where the artist
- 41:56grew up and his influences. So it's pretty cool.
- 41:59You learn a lot about Japanese culture watching
- 42:02anime. Yeah. That's very interesting. Yeah, that's
- 42:05real Japanese culture, isn't it? Yeah, dude.
- 42:10I actually just recently added to the list some
- 42:13that take part in. Japan? During the time of
- 42:19World War II. They were recommended to me because
- 42:23they're kind of tragedies. I love a tragedy.
- 42:27So I don't think I don't know how political they're
- 42:30going to be. I think it's more just, you know,
- 42:31personal stories about loss and stuff. That's
- 42:34those are a sucker for that shit. Damn. Loss
- 42:39or moving on, like people moving into the next
- 42:41phase of life and losing their old friends. Fucking.
- 42:44Oh, God. Yeah. No, not so much. No, I mean, I
- 42:52mean, I guess it's not a bad. It's not a bad
- 42:57thing. I mean, you know, moving on. Far life.
- 43:02Yeah, it is. You either move on or you die. That's
- 43:04why it's so bittersweet. It's a good thing, but
- 43:07it's also bittersweet and stuff. I don't know.
- 43:09I just like expressions of that in anime. That's
- 43:13cool. That's interesting. So, yeah. Code Geass
- 43:17or Geass or whatever the fuck. It's Geass forever
- 43:21now. I'm going to add it to my list. Code Geass.
- 43:27It got me into anime. It got me into wanting
- 43:31more. Like, oh, I didn't know anime could be
- 43:33this interesting. That's probably when I was
- 43:36around 20 years old. Because at the time, all
- 43:39the anime I had ever watched was Dragon Ball.
- 43:44And Evangelion, even though I didn't get anything.
- 43:48It was just big robots. Oh, cool, it was big
- 43:50robots. Doesn't the guy, like, jack off on the
- 43:54girl in the hospital or something at the end?
- 43:58uh in the movie that's the only thing i know
- 44:01about it it's well it's it's it's it's it was
- 44:05a very shocking scene very shocking i might have
- 44:08to say it's in the movie the original anime i
- 44:11think has 26 episodes and the final episode is
- 44:16weird as fuck you have to i have to tell you
- 44:19the whole fucking plot To explain it. Yeah, maybe
- 44:23not too much spoilers because I do plan to watch
- 44:25that. It's a classic, dude. And if you're into
- 44:29like loneliness and suffering and moving on,
- 44:31but not really moving on because everyone dies.
- 44:36It's a cool anime. That's good too. But then
- 44:40the ending was so weird that people were like,
- 44:42what the fuck is this, dude? And the studio was
- 44:45like, dude, what the fuck is this, man? Dude
- 44:50was like, it's art. And they're like, no, but
- 44:52let's try to make it, you know, something cooler
- 44:55for the fans. Yeah. Because the ending was sort
- 44:59of anticlimactic. You know, there was no big
- 45:02explosions or big fight or big emotional release.
- 45:05It was just very, very weird. And so they made
- 45:09a movie which retells the final two episodes.
- 45:14You know, it's a different story. Oh, yeah. Okay.
- 45:19And so you get the scene with the guy masturbates
- 45:21on top of the girl who's unconscious at the hospital.
- 45:24And that all hell breaks loose, dude. Literally.
- 45:30Really good. You should watch it. Got a bunch
- 45:32of those will they, won't they moments. Okay.
- 45:36I love a will they, won't they moment. Because,
- 45:38you know, they're fighting, they're big robots
- 45:40and fighting aliens. But all main characters
- 45:43are in the same high school. Of course. That's
- 45:50right. I did. I have, I think I watched the first
- 45:52episode and I was like, I'm going to watch this
- 45:53show. And I was like, what is this happening?
- 45:56Yeah. Um, do you even need a, she has to pilot
- 45:59this thing for why? Like what? They even, they
- 46:03made a remake, rebuilt of Evangelion. And I think
- 46:07it's on Amazon. Yeah. Yeah. There's a, I think
- 46:12there's four movies. So the first two are like
- 46:15basically. the first 26 episodes and then the
- 46:20story just takes a very different spin i don't
- 46:23like animation is fantastic when you watch the
- 46:26original then you watch this it's like whoa dude
- 46:29computers and stuff the original has some sick
- 46:34animation really good scenes uh cool yeah sometimes
- 46:38the computer stuff i don't like it it seems i
- 46:40mean i know none of it's easy to make but sometimes
- 46:42i'll be like did they do that because they're
- 46:44lazy right Or maybe to appeal to a different
- 46:49aesthetic, because young kids are used to, they
- 46:51grew up on these shitty, crappy 3D shows. True,
- 46:57they're right. They're like, we need to make
- 46:58fucking... Crappy 3D anime. Yeah, we need to
- 47:03make it look like fucking roly -poly -oly or
- 47:05whatever. Exactly, that's what I think is going
- 47:07on. But it's a good thing that it's kind of been
- 47:10phased out, I think. I mean, whenever I see 3D
- 47:13stuff... or, you know, CGI stuff, animates, very,
- 47:16very tastefully added, I would say. Oh, you know,
- 47:22you know what? One that I liked, and actually
- 47:26this was before Toradora. Yes. I just thought
- 47:29it was a one -off, was Bee Stars on Netflix.
- 47:32Bee Stars? Isn't bees are stars? Well, it's actually
- 47:36more beast, beast, bee stars. Because it's about
- 47:39a bunch of talking animals who are... go to high
- 47:43school together and they all go to the same fucking
- 47:48high school and yeah exactly oh that's the thing
- 47:51carnivores and herbivores go to the same high
- 47:53school and then the wolf falls in love with a
- 47:55rabbit um but that the animation on that is definitely
- 48:00a lot of computer animation but that i thought
- 48:02looked pretty good are you are you like into
- 48:05furries no oh strange I did call it, when I was
- 48:13big into watching that, I always called it my
- 48:15furry show, though. It looks, yeah, it looks
- 48:18very furry. I saw a movie once called Wolf Children.
- 48:23This lady falls in love with a werewolf. Werewolf
- 48:26pretty much dies because he can't get a job.
- 48:30You know, all he does is fucking hunt for food
- 48:32and brings food. You know, you bring her like
- 48:35a deer. She's like, oh, thank you, honey. But,
- 48:40you know. We need to pay rent. And dude, I think
- 48:46the guy eventually dies, you know, just because,
- 48:49you know, he's out there fucking killing deer.
- 48:52Someone kills him or something. And she has to
- 48:55raise his kids all on her own. So she moves to
- 48:58the countryside. Very beautiful anime. You should
- 49:00watch it. What's that one called? Wolf Children.
- 49:03Oh, that's on my list, actually. Really? Just
- 49:06the other night I was going through stuff and
- 49:08I found that one and it sounded interesting.
- 49:10It's a movie. Cool thing about movies is that
- 49:12you don't have to spend, you know, five episodes.
- 49:16Literally less. And like thinking, do I like
- 49:19this or just, you know. Maybe next episode will
- 49:23get better. So literally last night I was looking
- 49:26for tearjerker movies and that was on the thing.
- 49:32So I didn't end up watching it, but I watched
- 49:35something else. Oh, cool. So yeah, movies are
- 49:38cool. But it did sound very interesting. You
- 49:40get a full plot in two hours or something. Anime
- 49:44usually way better animation than your regular
- 49:47anime, episodic anime. Yeah. Yeah, no, I like
- 49:51an anime movie from time to time. Yeah. I just,
- 49:55I like so much of that, like, slice of life stuff.
- 49:57Like, I don't think it, it can sustain 50 episodes,
- 50:01but it couldn't sustain a movie by itself. It's
- 50:03best watched in 20 minute chunks. Yeah, definitely.
- 50:08Not enough time in an Ovidu. dedicate that much
- 50:12time to watching a guy do grocery shopping yeah
- 50:16no have you seen uh but you put it in a tv show
- 50:21and i'll sit there for six hours binge watch
- 50:23exactly watching him grocery shop wondering if
- 50:27he's gonna talk to the freaking oh have you seen
- 50:29you're big into smoke have you seen smoking behind
- 50:32the the supermarket with you you know what uh
- 50:37side note here You know what Tinder is? Yeah.
- 50:43All right. So I hooked up with this girl on Tinder.
- 50:47Okay. And she's like, I like anime. I'm like,
- 50:50girl. Prepare to fucking listen to me. Do you
- 50:58know what happened in Japan in 1945? Let me tell
- 51:05you the story of Emperor Hirohito. Anyway. And
- 51:09she was telling me about this exact anime the
- 51:13other day. She was like, I think you like it
- 51:15because you like smoking. I'm like, wow, dude.
- 51:18You know me so well. You're so deep into my mind,
- 51:23girl. Damn. Fucking kids. Was it that one? Wait.
- 51:30The guys smoking behind a convenience store or
- 51:34something like that? smoking behind the supermarket
- 51:36with you yeah yeah that's exactly it and he doesn't
- 51:39realize it's the it's the girl that he likes
- 51:41who's also works yeah yeah yeah something like
- 51:44that yeah um because there's two actually funnily
- 51:47enough there's like two big new smoking animes
- 51:50right now there's that one and then chain smoker
- 51:52cat nasty it's disgusting i've watched like three
- 51:59episodes i'm like I think I even read something
- 52:02like, you know, the Japanese are so, you know,
- 52:05cleanliness and order is just such a huge part
- 52:08of their culture. It's basically shock anime.
- 52:11It's like. Oh, really? Yeah. A bunch of people
- 52:14in Japan are like, fuck this shit. This is disgusting.
- 52:20But yeah, it is very filthy. I've only watched
- 52:22a couple of episodes. I'm not really following
- 52:23the plot or anything, but. I mean, I don't think
- 52:26there is one. It's just, I know. I saw her full
- 52:29on taking shit. Yeah. And she's got cigarettes
- 52:35all around her house. Whenever she, wherever
- 52:38she decides to lay down and just, you know, exist.
- 52:41Yeah. In their own filth. There's a couple of
- 52:44cigarettes here by. Yeah. Yeah. It's pretty nasty,
- 52:47but slice of life. I was going to ask if you'd
- 52:52ever seen. No. Or the way of the house husband.
- 52:59Oh, no. You know what I'm saying? It's some Yakuza
- 53:02hitman who renounced the life and then he met
- 53:07a beautiful girl and they got married. And she
- 53:09works and he stays at home because he has no
- 53:11job. So he does everything. You know, cooking,
- 53:15cleaning, taking care of the cat. But people
- 53:18see him on the street and they remember this
- 53:20fearless Yakuza hitman and he goes about is a
- 53:27very particular way of going about things. And
- 53:29it's a comedy anime and it's just absolutely
- 53:31fucking hilarious. You know, if you're into,
- 53:34cause that's another thing. Humor and anime is
- 53:36so different than what you might see. Yeah. You
- 53:39know, Western movies or animation or even Latin
- 53:43America. It's just fucking hilarious. It's yeah.
- 53:47And it's, it only works because you're, you're
- 53:50watching animated characters going at it. Yeah.
- 53:55Which is, Partly some of the issues, or one of
- 54:00the issues I have with most live action adaptations
- 54:05of anime, they try to maybe sometimes do the
- 54:08same jokes or recreate a character's personality.
- 54:12It just doesn't work for me. Yeah. It never does.
- 54:18It's like they try to... yeah they try to take
- 54:21some of it and reuse it but then they also try
- 54:22to make it too real it's like no just lean into
- 54:25the fact that it's based on a fucking cartoon
- 54:27and make everything silly as shit yeah but then
- 54:29why are we watching live action i just rather
- 54:31watch the anime then yeah i mean um yeah i guess
- 54:36it's different because there's already something
- 54:37in the visual medium i always think of when superhero
- 54:41movies over here started to get bigger and bigger
- 54:43and the the first wave of like dc movies was
- 54:46always taken a little bit too seriously and it's
- 54:49They tried to do too much realism. And then Marvel
- 54:52came around and was like, no, we're putting people
- 54:53in fucking stupid costumes with capes and they're
- 54:56running around the city and we're just going
- 54:57to do it. And then it becomes this huge thing.
- 55:00Yeah. That was always my theory was because they
- 55:03just embraced it. Yeah, no, it's comic book shit.
- 55:07Exactly. Except with anime, it's like, well,
- 55:11yeah, they already have something I can watch.
- 55:14Yeah. And it's not like, you know, Marvel heroes,
- 55:17whenever they... do something stupid or something
- 55:21bad happens to them their faces do not completely
- 55:24transform into like a circle with like you know
- 55:27that's true yeah you know that cutaway stuff
- 55:30you got you got so much like animation uh what
- 55:34would you how would you call them i don't know
- 55:37it's just stuff that's unique to anime you know
- 55:39the way a character could express emotions by
- 55:43becoming or by looking completely different by
- 55:45changing in size yeah You know, they go from
- 55:47like a regular person and they become, when they're
- 55:49embarrassed or something, they become this like
- 55:51chibi type character. And like, you know, with
- 55:54like fucking rivers of tears flowing down their
- 55:58eyes. Yeah, yeah. Some silly shit. It's just,
- 56:01it just fits so well if you're into anime. So,
- 56:05yeah, the humor in this, where the house husband,
- 56:09it's a Yakuza dude trying to do some serious
- 56:13shit. But it's, it's fucking hilarious. And the
- 56:17episodes are like the episodes are like six,
- 56:20eight minutes long. Oh, okay. I think it's on
- 56:22Netflix, but it's pretty good. You should definitely
- 56:25watch it. All right. Well, let's add that on
- 56:29there. So we have something to talk about next
- 56:32time. Yeah. Yeah. We didn't end up talking about
- 56:36what we're going to, how we're going to format
- 56:39any of this stuff. No, we're just shooting the
- 56:42shit. What's, what's even the name of the podcast?
- 56:44Which is fine too. You had your, let me see if
- 56:48I can find it at Google. Oh, I'm on it right
- 56:50now. We had an escape. Oh God. It sounds like
- 56:54something about an anus for the low lease for
- 56:59the low lease. Yeah. Yeah. Zaro. Zaro. Zaro.
- 57:05You put that one there. What the, don't ask me.
- 57:09Zach and Ron and Buddha, Buddha, the casuto.
- 57:14Broadcast. I don't know about that. Is it too
- 57:25Japanese sounding? Yeah, I don't know. I think
- 57:28it's super tense. I hate anime is kind of fun.
- 57:33The thing about I hate anime is that for some
- 57:37reason it reminds me of this website. Remember
- 57:40Metal Sucks? Does it still exist? It does. I
- 57:45think they're owned by some big corporation.
- 57:51Yeah. And I used to hate Metal Sox because the
- 57:55guy, you know, he kept hating on Fred Durst and
- 57:58Limp Bizkit. And you love Fred Durst and Limp
- 58:01Bizkit? I mean, I don't love them, but whenever
- 58:03randomly fucking the nookie comes on the radio,
- 58:07I fucking headbang to that shit. I did it all
- 58:10for the nookie. And the guy fucking used to suck,
- 58:13I don't know what this band's name was, Avenged
- 58:20Sevenfold or one of those metal, I don't remember
- 58:25what genre they were. But yeah, from that era,
- 58:30that was really big. It was Avenged Sevenfold.
- 58:32It was Engage, Killswitch Engage. Killswitch
- 58:35Engage. Yeah. I mean, they had a couple of good
- 58:38songs. I mean, I'm not going to lie. I think
- 58:40I heard maybe like, I was like, all right, let's
- 58:43see what the fuck is all this about. And I listened
- 58:45to a couple of songs and I was like, okay. But
- 58:48none of them have endured the way the Nookie
- 58:52has. And it was all about having fun. And this
- 58:56guy made it a point to just fucking hate, hate
- 58:58Fred Durst and the biscuit every chance you get.
- 59:02I didn't like it. Well, it was just way too.
- 59:06I wonder how we came across because we used to
- 59:07hate on shit a lot too. Yeah, but we used to
- 59:10hate on everything. We didn't have a, you know,
- 59:14it's like every single episode you'd hear Ron
- 59:16go on about fucking how much he hates Avenged
- 59:18Sevenfold. It wasn't like that. It was this week,
- 59:24this week we're hating on. Exactly. Exactly.
- 59:30So it kind of reminds me of that. And, uh, okay.
- 59:33I guess it's just a me thing. A little too snarky.
- 59:35Yeah. But, uh, I mean, I, is there a way we didn't
- 59:42actually consult the name metalscape with anyone
- 59:44just came out and people just like, you know,
- 59:47I don't even remember. I think it was your idea,
- 59:50right? The landscape of metal. with second yeah
- 59:53yeah stupid and it's not like the name drew people
- 59:59in i don't know yeah metals people the is this
- 1:00:05crap but it was just a name and it wasn't it
- 1:00:09wasn't horrible i guess because no one ever said
- 1:00:12you know what guys i love the podcast but your
- 1:00:15name is awful they were just like whatever dude
- 1:00:19it's like you know like nissan or any other name
- 1:00:22like sure it's a name but the content is good
- 1:00:26so maybe not try to focus too much in the name
- 1:00:29make the content good yeah but now it's like
- 1:00:33uh but we still gotta be called something and
- 1:00:35it's gotta be cool so let's keep going down the
- 1:00:40list i mean i hate anime we could do that yeah
- 1:00:42i don't think that's awful but i do know what
- 1:00:44you mean and it it can kind of give I'm not as
- 1:00:48negative as I used to be about a lot of stuff.
- 1:00:50And it can get off of like, oh, are these guys
- 1:00:51just going to try to be snarky the whole time?
- 1:00:53Bro, you watch rom -com anime. Hater? The hater
- 1:00:58tag is just not. Cannot be a fighter. You are
- 1:01:04the people haters hate on. That's true. But yeah,
- 1:01:11we don't want people. We want people to come
- 1:01:13in and listen and realize how. Yeah, because
- 1:01:15how diverse our anime takes are. Because I hate
- 1:01:20anime and I relate it to Metal Sucks. And what
- 1:01:23pops in my head is like a hater. Just dude doesn't
- 1:01:28know anything about anything. Just hating because
- 1:01:29he likes to hate. So then. Yeah. Yeah, no, not
- 1:01:33that one. And it's a very early 2000s like sarcastic
- 1:01:38name. Exactly. It's like, ooh, life sucks. Now,
- 1:01:42emotional damage. that's another that could be
- 1:01:45it's good i mean it it definitely anime is a
- 1:01:50very emotion emotion driven stories yeah pretty
- 1:01:56much all of them yeah and i think we'll be discussing
- 1:01:59that a lot and just about sometimes i still don't
- 1:02:02get it i'm like how come i feel closer to these
- 1:02:04fucking characters than i do on anything else
- 1:02:06i watch um is it because of my god this fucking
- 1:02:11chair Chair solo. Yeah. God, I suck, dude. He's
- 1:02:21got practice. I think you've got some Dodo D40
- 1:02:24back on the shelf there. Anyway, yeah, emotional
- 1:02:28damage works. Is it, do you think, you know,
- 1:02:32because it's obviously related to that meme with
- 1:02:36the Oriental guy. Emotional damage. I don't think
- 1:02:39you're allowed to say that. Okay, this Asian
- 1:02:45American guy. I think. You don't know what I'm
- 1:02:51talking about? I do know what you're talking
- 1:02:53about. Yeah, the emotional damage dude. I'm not
- 1:02:56going to do the voice, but. Do you think we have,
- 1:03:01do you think we're on the risk of being canceled?
- 1:03:04Or somewhat censored? Because if we don't adhere
- 1:03:08to the current politically correct. Language.
- 1:03:12I don't think cancellation's real. Okay. Especially
- 1:03:16not for someone like us. I mean, who's actually
- 1:03:19been canceled? Guess not. I guess you're right.
- 1:03:23I mean, Louis C .K. won a Grammy after he got
- 1:03:28canceled. There you go. Only the people who did,
- 1:03:32like, real heinous crimes, I think. And it's
- 1:03:35all about the vibe. Nothing, nothing we, yeah.
- 1:03:41nothing we say comes off as serious or anything
- 1:03:45that's actually believed. I guess you're right.
- 1:03:48We'd have to be like extremely famous for that
- 1:03:50to even be. Yeah. I'm not going to start saying,
- 1:03:53I mean, we're not going to start saying that
- 1:03:55N word, but no, no. I mean, there's some stuff
- 1:03:59that's really off limits, I suppose. But, um,
- 1:04:03I guess when, when our, uh, when our marketing,
- 1:04:07uh, you know what I was thinking, uh, I'll, bring
- 1:04:10it up in the episode now just just because yeah
- 1:04:13but i used to joke a lot more about like um pedophilia
- 1:04:19and like underage girls and stuff do you remember
- 1:04:22that yes but i mean at the time i was closer
- 1:04:26to eight that was just above 18 or whatever um
- 1:04:29but yeah that shit's not one i don't find it
- 1:04:32funny anymore and that shit would just come off
- 1:04:34as fucking weird yeah i see what you're saying
- 1:04:39Yeah, underage. If some almost 40 guy was like,
- 1:04:41yeah, fuck it. Yeah, I get what you're saying
- 1:04:46because I have two friends that have kids now.
- 1:04:50So we can't really do the whole underage kids.
- 1:04:53Baby fucking thing material. Yeah, I know. Yeah,
- 1:04:58no, I got a little nephew and niece now. Oh,
- 1:05:01yeah. Curtis is fatheads, kids. Man, he's got
- 1:05:07such a fat head. So, emotional damage. Yeah,
- 1:05:12I think that one can catch on. Do you think we'll
- 1:05:15get into some legal trouble? I think it's broad
- 1:05:18enough to be like, yeah, because we're going
- 1:05:21to be looking at the emotions of anime in all
- 1:05:22kinds of different, the happy ones, the sad ones,
- 1:05:25the weird ones. Yeah. What I was asking, do you
- 1:05:32think we'll get into some legal issues? I guess.
- 1:05:35Why? Is emotional damage a trademark? No. It
- 1:05:40is both a popular internet meme and a term for
- 1:05:43psychological harm. All right. So it's not really.
- 1:05:46Yeah. That guy doesn't have like the fucking,
- 1:05:48you're not allowed to say emotional damage because
- 1:05:51some guy said it. Yeah. Do you pay your dime
- 1:05:56every time you post the emotional damage meme?
- 1:06:01Yeah. And the guy who made it famous, Stephen
- 1:06:06Hay. Sounds like a Korean dude. Hey. He's Asian,
- 1:06:13you know, related to anime, I suppose. Stephen
- 1:06:17Hay. Chinese -Irish actor. What the fuck? Chinese
- 1:06:23-Irish. Interesting. Yeah. Probably share some
- 1:06:28ancestry. Maybe. Yeah. So, yeah, we have an in.
- 1:06:33If they want to come for us, I'd just be like,
- 1:06:35I'm like a distant cousin of him. Bro, bro, bro.
- 1:06:40We both come from the aisle. Yeah. And then we
- 1:06:45have subbed. Subbed, I don't. Yeah, that shit
- 1:06:49was dead. Still boring. That sounds like some
- 1:06:56shitty ass fucking sitcom. Got canceled after
- 1:07:00the second episode on fucking PBS or some shit.
- 1:07:04Hey, no, PBS is quality programming. It'd be
- 1:07:07on CBS. CBS, yeah. You're right. You're very
- 1:07:12right. Emotional damage, the anime podcast. I
- 1:07:17think that sounds pretty good. It's not bad.
- 1:07:20Yeah, let's go with it. Let's do it. We'll grow
- 1:07:22into it. Emotional damage. Are you ready for
- 1:07:25this? Yeah, so everyone who's here for the pilot
- 1:07:28episode, you were here for the naming. Yeah,
- 1:07:32you were here for emotional damage. I'll get
- 1:07:37some more of that later on. Yes. In the meantime,
- 1:07:42stay damaged. Stay damaged. Stay emotional, son.
- 1:07:48Stay emotional. That's really fucking weird.
- 1:07:57We should get a Japanese version that say emotional
- 1:08:00damage. Yeah. For like the logo or something?
- 1:08:03I don't know. Oh, no. Japanese person. I thought
- 1:08:06you said Japanese version. Oh, a Japanese version.
- 1:08:10We could do that. Yeah. We could do that. Oh,
- 1:08:13but a Japanese person. No, for sure. I bet on
- 1:08:15Fiverr we could hire some Japanese guys to be
- 1:08:17like, you're listening to emotional damage. What?
- 1:08:19Don't you ever get like Japanese passengers?
- 1:08:24Not often. Well, if you see one, just walk up
- 1:08:29to them. Because my airline, where we're based
- 1:08:31out of, United does most of the Asian markets.
- 1:08:37And they don't connect on us very often. I thought
- 1:08:39you were going to hit me with an undisclosed
- 1:08:41airline. Well, that too. Okay. Undisclosed base
- 1:08:48and an undisclosed airline. Sure. Well, if you
- 1:08:53ever see some Japanese dude, you can be like,
- 1:08:55you know, just walk up to him with your phone,
- 1:09:00hit record and be like, can you say emotional
- 1:09:02damage, please? And he's gonna be like, I was
- 1:09:08born in San Francisco. Can you just really fucking
- 1:09:14do a heavy Japanese accent? Jesus fucking Christ.
- 1:09:18You will get kicked off this thing. Yeah, we
- 1:09:25can do that. Okay, what's next on the doc? Oh,
- 1:09:28yeah. So, like, episode. Yeah, Emotional Damage,
- 1:09:32the anime podcast. We're set. Cool. Now, episode
- 1:09:36formats. Yes. What is that? I mean, we'll change.
- 1:09:42Like each episode are we going to talk about
- 1:09:44a series or a season of a show or something?
- 1:09:51I think. I mean, or for some shows, maybe not
- 1:09:55every show is like that. So I'm also not on top
- 1:09:59of stuff enough to be like, oh, now's the anime
- 1:10:01news segment or whatever the fuck. Because I'm
- 1:10:04watching a bunch of anime that's 20 years old.
- 1:10:07Well, that doesn't really matter. Because it's
- 1:10:09new to us, and it's probably new to the people.
- 1:10:11Yeah, yeah, exactly. That's what I do. One of
- 1:10:13the things that I loved about Metalscape is that
- 1:10:15I think some guys just tuned in for, because
- 1:10:20they had some slight, you know, they listened
- 1:10:23to some metal. Yeah. And it was a fun listen.
- 1:10:31And through it, they got to learn about, you
- 1:10:34know, more and more bands maybe expand upon their
- 1:10:37tastes. Yes. Like an introduction. So we could
- 1:10:41be an introduction to some people who are like,
- 1:10:43you know, mildly into anime or these weird Japanese
- 1:10:47cartoons. Yeah. But then they end up watching
- 1:10:52their own Beastars and they're like, oh my God,
- 1:10:55this is it. Okay. So it doesn't really matter.
- 1:11:02We're talking about what we watched this week.
- 1:11:0440 -year -old anime. But what I was trying to
- 1:11:07say is that back in the MetalScape days, we started
- 1:11:10out just, you know, shooting the shit. And later
- 1:11:13we got into some sort of structure where we had
- 1:11:16some reoccurring segments. Yeah. That I think
- 1:11:19was nice because you give people some sort of
- 1:11:24structure. Something to look forward to. Something
- 1:11:28to follow up on. Hey, did you hear the latest?
- 1:11:32whatever. But we talked about, you know, watching.
- 1:11:36We also have like four hour long episodes. Exactly.
- 1:11:41With, you know, nothing but silence or you can
- 1:11:44hear the anime in the background. We're just
- 1:11:45watching. And then four episodes in, one of us
- 1:11:50is like, I gotta go take a shit, dude. So I think
- 1:11:58occasionally I like the idea of like each of
- 1:12:00us assigning the other person to watch something.
- 1:12:02I like that. Maybe not a whole season or a whole
- 1:12:06series. No, just, you know, watch this anime.
- 1:12:08I think you'll like it. Give me your thoughts.
- 1:12:10I mean, if you're into it, fine. If you quit
- 1:12:12after 10 minutes, fine. Oh, yeah. Just if it
- 1:12:15kept you interested or not. Yep. A must watch.
- 1:12:20Okay. Must watch. From me to you. From Russia
- 1:12:24with love. And I also like your idea of us to
- 1:12:28watch a new anime and follow along, you know,
- 1:12:32episode by episode, maybe watch until someone
- 1:12:35calls it quits or just, you know, go through
- 1:12:38the entire thing. That could be good for the
- 1:12:41introduction. They maybe even pick like a classic
- 1:12:43series. But it must be something. Like I've never
- 1:12:46seen Dragon Ball. Do we do a rewatch? For you,
- 1:12:48it's a rewatch? It's a rewatch, but it's been
- 1:12:51so long ago. 30 years ago or something but uh
- 1:12:56but yeah that also could be interesting a watch
- 1:12:59along and then finally maybe some like themes
- 1:13:03like yeah starting to you know those have a lot
- 1:13:07of work yeah I like the idea of that but as I
- 1:13:11was typing them down I'm like this is a lot of
- 1:13:12fucking work I was just trying to get some you
- 1:13:16know Now I'm giving myself fucking essays to
- 1:13:21write. Jesus Christ. Well, it can be something,
- 1:13:26you know, just a topic and then we can just start
- 1:13:30spitballing and shooting ideas off of each other.
- 1:13:35That's true. Yeah. Maybe it's less, it's not
- 1:13:37as structured as all that. We don't come in on
- 1:13:39like, this is a emotional damage special on sex
- 1:13:42in anime. Yeah. No, it could be something as
- 1:13:47simple as. Why are cats so prevalent in anime?
- 1:13:51Have you ever noticed that? Why not dogs? Why
- 1:13:56not rabbits? What is it about the Japanese and
- 1:13:59fucking cats? I mean, I love cats. I get it now.
- 1:14:02But, I mean, they're all over, dude. Yeah. Dragon
- 1:14:06Ball. Take Dragon Ball, for example. I mean,
- 1:14:09half of the characters in that show are fucking
- 1:14:11cats. Really? I did not know that. There's a
- 1:14:15whole bunch of cats. Okay. Maybe I do need to
- 1:14:18watch it. And cat looking people. There's a whole
- 1:14:21bunch of cats in that. And in anime in general,
- 1:14:24I don't know if in general, but cats do make
- 1:14:28more, they make more appearances than dogs in
- 1:14:34anime, I think. That is true. And I've never
- 1:14:37thought about it. And I would have never associated
- 1:14:39them with Japan. When I think of like, oh, old
- 1:14:41culture or a culture that loves cats, that's
- 1:14:44like fucking Egypt and shit. Yeah. But yeah,
- 1:14:49there's, and then the, well, I think it's more
- 1:14:51of a Chinese thing, like the beckoning cat, the
- 1:14:53good luck thing, the cat that's waving at you
- 1:14:55in the store. Yeah. The hell do you. Cats in
- 1:15:00anime. Yeah. That's our first fucking. Teams
- 1:15:04in anime with seconds. Have you noticed? Um,
- 1:15:10I don't think we have to name that segment or
- 1:15:13each segment. think someone no no these are just
- 1:15:16general ideas i had for stuff we could do sometimes
- 1:15:19really good stuff though really good stuff good
- 1:15:24good stuff good stuff i'd say creator deep dive
- 1:15:28oh yeah i had that like if there's a you know
- 1:15:31some someone who's made a few animes or a few
- 1:15:34movies or whatever looking at their their catalog
- 1:15:38the repertoire there Yeah, how things tie together,
- 1:15:42what changed, that kind of stuff. That's really
- 1:15:44cool. I remember right after Code Gay Ass, I
- 1:15:52watched Samurai Champloo. I've heard of that
- 1:15:56one, too. It's really good. Sounds cool. Samurai's
- 1:16:00in them. Has anyone fallen in love? No. I don't
- 1:16:06think so. Has anyone blushed, at least? Yes.
- 1:16:08A whole bunch. I love a blushing anime girl.
- 1:16:10Oh yeah. Yeah. Yeah. There's a girl in there.
- 1:16:13No. Oh yeah. Yeah. She's covered in usual, you
- 1:16:19know, like downloading now. Oh yeah. How old
- 1:16:25is she? I mean, she's 17, like every other. And,
- 1:16:31um, and so I've got some good college stuff,
- 1:16:36but I had to like, I had to like search it out.
- 1:16:39I was like, show me an anime that takes place
- 1:16:41in like a college at least. Is it that, is that
- 1:16:44different than high school? Yeah. Right. Yeah.
- 1:16:47Just a little bit. It's a little bit more. Grown
- 1:16:50up. Grounded. There's less of the like, well,
- 1:16:52she probably doesn't want this and that. It's
- 1:16:55more real relationship stuff. Are there colleges?
- 1:16:57Golden time. In Japan? Are there colleges in
- 1:17:00Japan? I think they call them university or whatever.
- 1:17:05I never, I never, you know, I went to college
- 1:17:07in the U .S. I never understood what the fuck
- 1:17:09is a college. What is a college? You got high
- 1:17:12school, college, then university. No, a university,
- 1:17:18a college, I think traditionally a university
- 1:17:21has like different departments. Like, oh, Harvard,
- 1:17:24the College of Law at Harvard, the College of
- 1:17:28Medicine at Harvard or whatever. And at some
- 1:17:31point. People just started applying the word
- 1:17:35college to any sort of school that came after
- 1:17:38high school as just a catch -all. I don't know
- 1:17:43why. Okay, well, I went to Miami Dade College.
- 1:17:46They had a bunch of classes on all different
- 1:17:48topics. You get a degree from them as well. But
- 1:17:52anyway. Yeah, I mean, I've only ever went to
- 1:17:55junior colleges, but I don't know why they're
- 1:17:57not called junior universities or why. Is it
- 1:18:01only the old ones that call themselves a university?
- 1:18:03Maybe it's like a... I don't know. Yeah. Because
- 1:18:08people, even people who goes to a place that
- 1:18:10call, because like, oh, California, the university
- 1:18:14system, it's like UC Berkeley, University of
- 1:18:18Berkeley. But most of the people who go there
- 1:18:22are going to be like, oh yeah, I'm going to go
- 1:18:23to college at Berkeley. They still call it college,
- 1:18:26even though technically it's... title is a university
- 1:18:29i guess i don't know man that's not what this
- 1:18:31podcast is fucking the college podcast episode
- 1:18:38one what is a college we don't really know dude
- 1:18:43anyway you want to hear two guys talk about shit
- 1:18:46that they don't fully understand for two hours
- 1:18:49tune in to emotional damage the college anyway
- 1:18:57My point was that I watched Samurai Champloo,
- 1:19:02which is great, recommended. And then I found
- 1:19:07out that that guy made Cowboy Bebop. Okay. And
- 1:19:11I was like, whoa, I heard a lot about Cowboy
- 1:19:13Bebop. And so I think I watched a couple episodes
- 1:19:16of Cowboy Bebop, and I was like, don't know why.
- 1:19:20I didn't really like it. And it's very different.
- 1:19:26The only thing that tied them in is that really,
- 1:19:29really good music. Because Samurai Champloo was
- 1:19:33like samurai, you know, it was set in the samurai
- 1:19:36era. But the characters and the vibe and some
- 1:19:41of the outfits and the music was modern, you
- 1:19:44know, it was a bunch of a lot of hip hop, really
- 1:19:46cool music. Okay. Yeah, that's kind of cool when
- 1:19:49it's like a... but it's tastefully done it's
- 1:19:52not just you know ridiculous like you're gonna
- 1:19:54see a samurai like samurai wearing chains yeah
- 1:19:57and just driving around the escalate or something
- 1:20:00you know like what the and then but i know what
- 1:20:04you mean yeah and then cowboy bebop was in space
- 1:20:09and the whole soundtrack i think is just jazz
- 1:20:14Which is, I mean... Yeah, I haven't watched the
- 1:20:17whole series, but I watched a couple episodes,
- 1:20:19and I did like the music, and it is like a jazzy
- 1:20:21thing. To this day... Which I'm... I don't know.
- 1:20:22To this day, the... What is it? The soundtrack
- 1:20:28or whatever is a great listen anytime. I'm actually...
- 1:20:33Have you played any of the Persona games? No.
- 1:20:35What is that? It's a Japanese RPG series where
- 1:20:39you play a high schooler trying to solve a safe
- 1:20:42world or whatever. but i'm playing i'm playing
- 1:20:46i haven't played a lot of them um but i'm playing
- 1:20:48the remake of three right now and its music is
- 1:20:52killer and it's it's a lot of that kind of same
- 1:20:54upbeat jazzy stuff um that just gives the thing
- 1:20:59a whole weird vibe because like you're at midnight
- 1:21:01the world freezes and you're in some dark tower
- 1:21:03fighting all these things and meanwhile there's
- 1:21:05a saxophone solo going off in the back Oh, my
- 1:21:10God. I just Googled emotional damage podcast.
- 1:21:14There's a horror -themed show where the guy talks
- 1:21:19about horror movies. Emotional damage podcast.
- 1:21:24Then you got emotional damages hosted by a forensic
- 1:21:28expert. Emotional damage podcast. I was going
- 1:21:34to see when he last uploaded, but no, it looks
- 1:21:36to be. They pretty regularly do one a month.
- 1:21:41How do you ascertain how many followers? I just
- 1:21:47went to the Spotify page. Oh, that? I don't know.
- 1:21:51Six reviews? People don't like to let those numbers.
- 1:21:54Really? Six reviews? Well, he's called The Emotional
- 1:21:59Damage Podcast. We're just emotional damage.
- 1:22:02He has nine followers on Instagram. Yeah, fuck
- 1:22:05that guy. I mean, I can get nine followers like
- 1:22:09in five minutes. The two guys over there, I don't
- 1:22:13know what the fuck. There's two guys that sleep
- 1:22:14on that construction site guarding who knows
- 1:22:17what. No one here is interested in going and
- 1:22:19fucking steal your cement bags, dudes. Stop looking
- 1:22:23at me while I'm on my underwear trying to have
- 1:22:25dinner and watch some anime. Go away. Yeah, fuck
- 1:22:30this guy. Yeah, so we're fine. Yeah, cool. So
- 1:22:34what was I going to Google? Oh, yeah, Persona.
- 1:22:36You were saying? It takes place in a high school?
- 1:22:40Oh, yeah. Groundbreaking. Popular Japanese role
- 1:22:44-playing video game franchise. Published by Sega?
- 1:22:48Persona... Yeah, yeah. Persona 3 reloads what
- 1:22:51I'm playing right now. Persona 5 was huge. It's
- 1:22:53actually good if you're into RPGs. Sega. That's
- 1:22:57another... It's highly anime -inspired, and you're
- 1:23:00talking about, like... history anime and stuff
- 1:23:03these personas that you get there i've googled
- 1:23:06some of them because i a lot of them like where
- 1:23:08the fuck is that character from and they're from
- 1:23:10like myth mythologies from all over the world
- 1:23:13and ancient stuff um they really yeah they pulled
- 1:23:16from everywhere to to bring these characters
- 1:23:19and it's really cool i'm not you know i stopped
- 1:23:22playing video games like a while ago any the
- 1:23:26only video game action i get nowadays is whenever
- 1:23:30i'm over at my friend's house and we uh smoke
- 1:23:33some weed and then we do some fifa halo oh hey
- 1:23:40oh cool nice i like to shoot people even if it's
- 1:23:43on yeah i'll pretend yeah even pretend shootings
- 1:23:47it's cathartic feel good fuck you bitch uh so
- 1:23:52yeah not really i don't think i will try the
- 1:23:56persona thing Okay. It's a lot to get into. It's
- 1:24:01a long game. It's a fucking long game. I've been
- 1:24:04playing it for a long time. But are all these
- 1:24:06characters supposed to be Japanese? Yeah, you're
- 1:24:09in Japan. See, that's the thing. That's the thing.
- 1:24:14That's the elephant in the room for anime. Or
- 1:24:17with anime. How the hell can I share what? Oh
- 1:24:21my god, I can't share my screen. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:24:24Share with audio. Share with tab audio. Sure.
- 1:24:28I mean, I guess that could work for porn. Anyway,
- 1:24:32you see this lady here. Yes. The white lady.
- 1:24:38How would you characterize or describe her phenotype?
- 1:24:44White. She's white. She got blonde hair. Yeah.
- 1:24:47Blue eyes. Huge blue eyes. Yeah. Have you ever
- 1:24:52seen a Japanese person who looks like that? why
- 1:24:58is anime with very few exceptions why is anime
- 1:25:01just you know crowded with characters that look
- 1:25:04nothing like the japanese yeah i don't know i
- 1:25:09mean i get why like um the simple features and
- 1:25:13the big eyes and stuff for showing emotion and
- 1:25:15also just for drawing quickly like i get all
- 1:25:18that um but as far as why everyone's just white
- 1:25:20all the time i don't know all of them are white
- 1:25:22i mean look at this dude he kind of looks japanese
- 1:25:26But there's no Japanese with gray eyes. Oh, you
- 1:25:29know what? I've actually read about something
- 1:25:32like this. Look at his red head. They don't.
- 1:25:37This girl kind of looks Japanese, except for
- 1:25:39the huge fucking eyes. I understand the eyes,
- 1:25:40but you got to look at this fucking German looking
- 1:25:45asshole. This dude looks more Japanese -y, you
- 1:25:49know. I did hear, or I looked into this at some
- 1:25:54point. and apparently it's something to do with
- 1:25:56um so race isn't as big of a thing over there
- 1:26:01they don't really see like white people they
- 1:26:03don't look at those characters and say oh that
- 1:26:05a white person they're just like oh that's the
- 1:26:08whatever color they chose to make them um it's
- 1:26:12like they don't it's not a conscious thing it's
- 1:26:16just uh and then that's why it doesn't strike
- 1:26:18anyone as weird maybe it's easier to animate
- 1:26:20that way or something I don't think any Japanese
- 1:26:24person for the past 70 years has no idea what
- 1:26:28the fuck a white person is. No. It's like, oh,
- 1:26:32look at this fantasy character. He's got pale,
- 1:26:35scared blue eyes. Wow, that's fucking crazy.
- 1:26:38What is that? They would just blow the shit out
- 1:26:41of their asses. Whoa, he's such crazy. Sounds
- 1:26:49like, looks like the guys who dropped two fucking
- 1:26:52nukes on us. Anyway. So what is it? I don't know.
- 1:26:59What is what? What is up with that? And sometimes
- 1:27:01you get these characters, you get characters
- 1:27:03that are really, really, really Japanese looking,
- 1:27:06but they're always like the kind old man in the
- 1:27:10convenience store or the dumb idiot who's just
- 1:27:15a comet relief. Or, you know, some minor character
- 1:27:19in a supporting role or just getting beat on
- 1:27:25or getting, you know, getting the butt out of
- 1:27:31a joke or something. Always the main character
- 1:27:34is all these guys with purple fucking eyes and
- 1:27:37just white as fuck. I don't know. Why? Yeah,
- 1:27:41I don't know. I was just kind of searching and
- 1:27:44I think this is what I read. where i read last
- 1:27:47time um highly stylized rather than a ton anatomically
- 1:27:52realistic western viewers see a round face and
- 1:27:55big eyes and unconsciously register white in
- 1:27:58japan where the population is 90 ethnically japanese
- 1:28:01the default person in any domestic story is just
- 1:28:03assumed to be japanese no matter what they look
- 1:28:05like so it's just a cartoon to them this stylistic
- 1:28:11borderlessness is referred to as muko muko kuseki
- 1:28:15or statelessness okay yeah i think it's just
- 1:28:19like because it's a blank canvas it's just a
- 1:28:21it's just it's just an animated character yeah
- 1:28:24i get what you're saying the big eyes make it
- 1:28:27easier to animate expressions emotions yeah and
- 1:28:33then um because i think in in the animation i
- 1:28:37think in all the animation world like there's
- 1:28:39it's a big there's a big issue with like crunch
- 1:28:41and people working fucking 15 hours a day to
- 1:28:44like get these episodes out and stuff and being
- 1:28:47overworked. So I think the simpler drawings,
- 1:28:51it's easier to just rush through them. Okay.
- 1:28:54I'm looking right now for that anime I told you
- 1:28:58I watched as a kid. Ah, Daltanias. Is that, uh,
- 1:29:04I watched, they were all subbed, of course, rather.
- 1:29:08No, not subbed, dubbed to Spanish, which I gotta
- 1:29:13say. I hate, I hate watching anime. Fucking dubbed.
- 1:29:20Okay. This is interesting. Okay. It's just not
- 1:29:23the same, dude. It's like, what if instead of
- 1:29:26listening to me, you hear some dude, you know,
- 1:29:29translating everything I say into English. No,
- 1:29:32it's not the same. Yeah. I don't, I mean, I,
- 1:29:36I like watching sub stuff too, but I watch. A
- 1:29:39lot of times I'm looking for a dub because...
- 1:29:43You lose like half of a character's personality
- 1:29:45in the dub. You know, the voice... Not if the
- 1:29:48dub's done good. Well, that's my point. The only
- 1:29:52dub I've ever preferred to the actual original
- 1:29:55Japanese voice acting is Dragon Ball. Because
- 1:30:00the Mexicans did such a good job. Or maybe it's
- 1:30:02because I watched it when I was a kid and didn't
- 1:30:04know Japanese was a thing. I think especially
- 1:30:09in ones where like comedy is a big part of it,
- 1:30:12the dub can really help localize it a little
- 1:30:17bit. I'm thinking of a newer one. It just finished
- 1:30:20its second season called You and I Are Polar
- 1:30:25Opposites. And it's a very modern like high school.
- 1:30:28The girl talks in a lot of like slang and stuff.
- 1:30:32I was like, I bet if it was just Japanese slang
- 1:30:34translated over, like it wouldn't. Hit is funnier
- 1:30:38as well, but when it's this high -pitched American
- 1:30:43lady going, I got against my man or whatever,
- 1:30:45it's funny. I guess. I've never actually watched
- 1:30:49any dubbed anime. But I do watch subbed. Sometimes
- 1:30:58it just, I have to watch subbed when I'm like,
- 1:31:00okay, I can fully focus on this and read. If
- 1:31:04I might look away or something. then i don't
- 1:31:07want to watch it i like hearing the japanese
- 1:31:09original voice yeah yeah i don't mind i don't
- 1:31:12hate subbed or anything but but i appreciate
- 1:31:14a dub and if there is a dub usually that's what
- 1:31:17i'll be watching do you think that do you think
- 1:31:20it's a struggle or do you think how how weird
- 1:31:22do voice actors find it when they you know get
- 1:31:25into the booth and they're like okay you're this
- 1:31:27character an enemy and then the his lines for
- 1:31:31the next four minutes are just Oh, there's a
- 1:31:37word for it. Do they solve that as well? That's
- 1:31:41such an intricate part of emotional damage inflicted
- 1:31:45and, you know, that you get and they receive.
- 1:31:48Rather, when a character receives emotional damage
- 1:31:51in anime, pretty much the go -to reaction is
- 1:31:55just fucking, you know. Anyway, my point is,
- 1:31:59I'm going to share my screen again. screen sharing
- 1:32:04theme tonight. Jesus. I found out this this is
- 1:32:09the anime I watched when I was a kid. Future
- 1:32:12Robot Daltanius. Ever heard of that? No. Apparently
- 1:32:21it's an anime that aired in 79. It's about this
- 1:32:27robot with like a fucking lion in his chest.
- 1:32:31And he He was piloted and then he fucking beat
- 1:32:36his enemies in his hands. And then whenever the
- 1:32:40show was about to end, he bust out his sword
- 1:32:43and sliced him up in a cross pattern. And this
- 1:32:51is from 79. And you see the characters here?
- 1:32:53How many blonde, blue -eyed characters do you
- 1:32:56see here? There's a fucking picture. But how
- 1:32:58many blonde, blue -eyed characters do you see
- 1:33:01here? I mean, no blonde blue eyes, but I very
- 1:33:04much see seven white people and a pig. But I
- 1:33:09guess this is more in line with, you know, a
- 1:33:12character with like nondescript, or rather it
- 1:33:15looks closer to what a Japanese person would
- 1:33:18look like. Look at this dude. That's his classic
- 1:33:22anime character design. That's Link with black
- 1:33:26hair. They all had that fucking... unfortunately
- 1:33:30on this one I chose not to record video but in
- 1:33:34the future we should record the video so we can
- 1:33:36add this stuff on the got a fucking hair tongue
- 1:33:39here going on or something yeah but you don't
- 1:33:42see like blonde blue eyes well yeah because like
- 1:33:49you said no one had invented it yet so you think
- 1:33:53it's a recent thing I think it is. I mean, I
- 1:33:57think as American culture became more and more
- 1:33:59prevalent. I never, for the blondness, I actually
- 1:34:04never think about it as blonde. I, that very
- 1:34:07much is like, I don't know, there's anime people
- 1:34:08with fucking blue and pink and green. They got
- 1:34:10all kinds of crazy hair. So that one just happens
- 1:34:13to be white hair or blonde hair. Hmm. Okay, American.
- 1:34:20I guess I can see, I could see how you are not.
- 1:34:25you know, in the, uh, sharing my point of view,
- 1:34:30but I think there's something to it. I will find
- 1:34:33out more anyway. Uh, my original point for this
- 1:34:37is, uh, this is a very interesting tidbit of
- 1:34:41Japanese culture and what, why is, why is it?
- 1:34:45So why are so many blonde blue eyes suddenly
- 1:34:49creeping up or appearing in anime from the nineties
- 1:34:52onwards? And I think, my friend, we need to go
- 1:34:56to the source and find out why. I think Emotional
- 1:35:02Damage 100 episode needs to be from Japan. Ah.
- 1:35:07And us interviewing anime makers and be like,
- 1:35:11what's with the blonde chicks? What's up with
- 1:35:14the blonde chicks with big tits? I hate that.
- 1:35:17I can't stand it. Big -titted blondes are always
- 1:35:21dry. Fucking came into Japan. I thought I was
- 1:35:24going to be greeted at the fucking airport with
- 1:35:26some girl with purple hair with huge fucking
- 1:35:28tits. And it's just some fucking basic bitch.
- 1:35:31Seriously? You're misleading me, sir. But what
- 1:35:37is that? There's a whole style over there. I
- 1:35:39don't know how big it is anymore, but it's girls,
- 1:35:44like, trying to look white. Is it Gyaru? kaijin
- 1:35:49i have no idea uh japanese style aren't those
- 1:35:54that aren't those those girls that kind of like
- 1:35:57it eye surgery to like open up their eyelids
- 1:36:01yeah they do that shit yeah they do that shit
- 1:36:03bleach their hair oh my god no they're not trying
- 1:36:07to look white dude they're just trying to look
- 1:36:08at their favorite anime character come on i mean
- 1:36:12it's got it's it's there's something to it i
- 1:36:15mean that's how I think that's why partly you
- 1:36:18see anime that's not necessarily based around
- 1:36:22Japanese stories anymore. How about that? Have
- 1:36:25you ever seen that Vinland Saga anime? That supposedly
- 1:36:29is really good. No, but I've heard it's really
- 1:36:34good. I watched a few episodes. Yes, I watched
- 1:36:37a few episodes. And so it's like a Norse setting.
- 1:36:41And you know me, I'm a scholar of Norse. Yeah,
- 1:36:44we all know. Stories and all that. But it's just,
- 1:36:47I don't think it mixes all that well. Because
- 1:36:52you kind of get some, I wouldn't say it's silliness,
- 1:36:55anime silliness, because it's not really a silly
- 1:36:58anime. But the quirks that are inherent to anime
- 1:37:02characters and storylines, it just looks weird.
- 1:37:07You know, like you get a Viking dude that's a
- 1:37:10really good fighter. And yeah, I can get, I can
- 1:37:14understand, right? I can wrap my mind around
- 1:37:16a Viking dude that's really good at fucking killing
- 1:37:18people. But then you have the guy just jumping,
- 1:37:21you know, from ship to ship. You know, they're
- 1:37:23in the middle of the fucking ocean. And he's
- 1:37:24like, all right, guys, just stay here. Be cool.
- 1:37:28I'm going to go fucking destroy these 57 shipsters
- 1:37:32surrounding us. Get me a spoon. And so the guy
- 1:37:35just fucking jumps from each ship to ship, just
- 1:37:37destroying everyone with a spoon or some shit.
- 1:37:42And I'm like, it just takes me away from this.
- 1:37:46This is supposed to be a Nordic story, but now
- 1:37:51I'm like watching Dragon Ball Z. So it's just,
- 1:37:54for me, it just, it took me out of the setting
- 1:37:59and I just stopped watching it. But you get,
- 1:38:03this is an anime and you can have blonde people.
- 1:38:06So, because it's not based in, it's not. The
- 1:38:12story doesn't unfold in Japan. They're not Japanese
- 1:38:15people. They don't have to adhere to Japanese
- 1:38:17principles. So it's really interesting that you
- 1:38:20get to see that. For me, Vinland Saga didn't
- 1:38:22work, but it's a very interesting thing that
- 1:38:24now the anime is just rotting up. It's not just
- 1:38:28about what's going on or what has been going
- 1:38:30on in Japan. It's just about a whole bunch of
- 1:38:33other shit. Yeah, that one sounded really interesting
- 1:38:37to me. So it's definitely on the... Are you seeing
- 1:38:40the screen I'm sharing with you now? No, I'm
- 1:38:42sorry. Holy shit. With all these white anime
- 1:38:48ladies. All these blonde anime, all these blonde,
- 1:38:53not anime ladies, Japanese. They look so bad.
- 1:39:00This is awful. That's a whole team of them. God.
- 1:39:05It was their big old like southern hair. They
- 1:39:07look like. I don't know. They look like lady
- 1:39:10boys from Thailand. That's awful. What's up,
- 1:39:17black ladies in there? They're not doing it for
- 1:39:20you. They don't need your approval. They're not
- 1:39:22doing it for... God damn it. They're ugly. Oh,
- 1:39:27she works. Even this one? That works. Yeah. Oh,
- 1:39:29yeah. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. See, that's your prototypical
- 1:39:39Japanese woman right there. Blonde hair, green
- 1:39:44eyes, side pony. Mm -hmm. Huge tits. Okay, whatever.
- 1:39:55I got to stop looking at this. Kind of getting
- 1:40:00off topic there. Yeah. Oh, well, this is... this
- 1:40:06is fun i can't wait to to dive more into this
- 1:40:08and really get emotional damage all right so
- 1:40:11what's the uh what's the first must watch um
- 1:40:15you gotta do code go code gay ass definitely
- 1:40:18i will watch code gay ass what's um what's my
- 1:40:22homework please don't say um no uh i was gonna
- 1:40:28say either it's a short movie that's kind of...
- 1:40:35Yeah, Tora Door is too cute. I'll save that one.
- 1:40:41There's a short film called Five Centimeters
- 1:40:45Per Second. Whoa. I think it's like an hour long
- 1:40:48or something. Misleading. But it's a very emotional
- 1:40:55story. Oh my God. But you don't even realize
- 1:40:59it until the... Yeah, it's the story of two people
- 1:41:03told through, like, it focuses on three phases
- 1:41:06of their life and how things change and stuff.
- 1:41:08Yeah. It's 2007. I didn't realize it was that
- 1:41:12old. Five centimeters per second. Yeah. Wait.
- 1:41:17No. Have I seen this? Or is it just the poster
- 1:41:22looks similar to other posters? All right. I'll
- 1:41:26watch it. All right. And I will start watching
- 1:41:29Code Gay Ass. Oh, yeah. I already started subscribing
- 1:41:38to it, not downloading it. Yeah, it's already
- 1:41:41going on the server. Okay. And I'll get you a
- 1:41:44new, yeah, and that movie's on there, too. I'll
- 1:41:46get you a new login. Ron and Zach made me watch
- 1:41:49the season series review. What are we doing for
- 1:41:53the watch -along or the review? You really want
- 1:41:59to do Dragon Ball? Yeah, we could do that. Or.
- 1:42:03Or. Let's Google. What is a hot new anime. Oh,
- 1:42:09like a newer one? Yeah. Happening right now.
- 1:42:14First result. Come on. Frequent. Mushoku Tensei
- 1:42:19Season 3. Jobless Reincarnation 3. Behind the
- 1:42:24supermarket. I'm surprised. Do you smoke with
- 1:42:25that pet? Do that one. What's it called? Behind
- 1:42:32a supermarket, you smoke with that pet. Oh, wow.
- 1:42:36I've never heard that translation. Well, it's
- 1:42:38Google, dude. Okay, the first result is Mushoku
- 1:42:40Tensei, Jobless Reincarnation 3. That's surprising.
- 1:42:46I could have sworn it Free Run was going to be
- 1:42:48the first one. That's huge right now. Pretty
- 1:42:49intense, that sounds like. Then you got Re Zero,
- 1:42:54Season 4. Jesus Christ. And then you got Behind
- 1:42:58a Supermarket, you smoke with that pet. What
- 1:43:00the hell's going on with the Nicaraguan internet?
- 1:43:03Is it having a stroke? I will have you know I
- 1:43:07have my preferences in Chrome set to the English
- 1:43:11language. I literally googled behind the supermarket
- 1:43:16you smoke with that pet and nothing came up.
- 1:43:19It's all smoky behind the supermarket. Look at
- 1:43:22it. I'm highlighting it right now. Behind the
- 1:43:24supermarket you smoke with that pet. Office worker
- 1:43:33named Sasaki who shares smoke breaks behind a
- 1:43:36grocery store with a cashier who has a secret
- 1:43:38identity and a friendly stray dog. What? You
- 1:43:45smoke with that pet? Is it on Netflix? I don't
- 1:43:50think it's... I haven't finished... I haven't
- 1:43:52actually started watching the anime. I was reading
- 1:43:54the manga. I haven't met a dog yet. Dude. You're
- 1:43:59fucking way behind. So I wonder if it's, I don't
- 1:44:02think it's on Nicaragua Netflix. Let's do behind
- 1:44:09the supermarket. I googled it. It doesn't exist.
- 1:44:11I want you to google behind the supermarket you
- 1:44:13smoke with that pet. Dude, I'm telling you. You
- 1:44:17want to see the fucking trailer right now? I
- 1:44:19think it's the same one. I don't know about the
- 1:44:23name, but yeah, look, it's the same one, dude.
- 1:44:26I will share my screen. God, I'm on fire with
- 1:44:29the fucking screen sharing, dude. Look at that.
- 1:44:32Isn't that, that's it. And that's the thing.
- 1:44:35Well, you just gotta, you gotta be on everything.
- 1:44:36Yeah. We're going to be putting clips on fucking
- 1:44:39TikTok. Yeah, dude. Before you know it, we're
- 1:44:43going to be in fucking cigarette boxes. No, it
- 1:44:49doesn't work like that anymore. Yeah. More smokes.
- 1:44:52We gotta, we gotta get ourselves a night in Japan.
- 1:44:55Yes. Our big, our mugs in fucking Shinjuku on
- 1:45:01a big old screen. So Japanese people kind of
- 1:45:03learn some English. English. What if we sweep
- 1:45:09Japan by storm? Everyone's fascinated by our
- 1:45:15weak knowledge of Japanese culture. Our absolute
- 1:45:19lack of understanding of anime. What the fuck
- 1:45:22are these guys on about? What? Smoking behind
- 1:45:27the supermarket. All right. Let's do that. Okay.
- 1:45:30So we're both going to watch Smoking Behind the
- 1:45:32Supermarket. With your pet. With you or with
- 1:45:34the pet? With or without the pet. Come on. All
- 1:45:39right. Cool. Okay. And I wonder if those will
- 1:45:42be, maybe that'll be two different episodes.
- 1:45:45We'll do an episode where we talk about what
- 1:45:46we watched. We can't watch more or less than
- 1:45:49the other person because otherwise we're not
- 1:45:51going to spoil it for each other. We're just
- 1:45:53going to. If we decide, we've got to decide right
- 1:45:56now. Are we going to watch five episodes? No
- 1:45:59more or less. We're going to watch three? How
- 1:46:03many episodes are even out? Okay, good question.
- 1:46:05Let's find out. On average, how much would you
- 1:46:09say it takes? How long do you give an anime before
- 1:46:11you're like, yeah, 10 minutes? Okay. I try watching
- 1:46:18Spy. I think that was the only exception. Spy
- 1:46:21Family. Oh yeah. I watched like three or four
- 1:46:25episodes and then they get to an episode where
- 1:46:27they're in the castle and they get drunk and
- 1:46:30it just got way too silly. And I was like, what
- 1:46:32the fuck am I doing here? But usually I can,
- 1:46:35I will like something enough to watch it or just
- 1:46:38not be interested in like first 10 minutes. I
- 1:46:44mean, I get a lot of, I feed off on a lot of
- 1:46:47the visual stuff on the character design. the
- 1:46:51general setting and if it doesn't vibe it's just
- 1:46:54an immediate thing for me what about you are
- 1:46:57you more forgiving uh yeah i'll usually give
- 1:47:02it i mean i i'm there has there's definitely
- 1:47:05some stuff where i'm like yeah this is this i
- 1:47:07just know this isn't gonna catch me but then
- 1:47:09there's some stuff that's more like i'll go watch
- 1:47:11it a little bit uh there's lots of stuff where
- 1:47:15it's like i really like it where i seem to like
- 1:47:18it when i'm first watching and i watch a few
- 1:47:20episodes i'm like yeah that was good and then
- 1:47:21i'll forget all about it and i'll never go back
- 1:47:23and watch more which means it probably wasn't
- 1:47:25that special oh anime dude it's just been released
- 1:47:30looks like nine episodes nine episodes we can
- 1:47:36definitely do five fives i think five's probably
- 1:47:39pretty good all right an hour solid hour and
- 1:47:43then we'll do the next we'll do the next five
- 1:47:44after that that's not a solid hour it's more
- 1:47:47sorry about that uh yeah what no i said if i
- 1:47:51had a solid hour and i was like no it's not it's
- 1:47:54a bit more i think yeah a little bit not that
- 1:47:57much really what are they 22 minutes each probably
- 1:48:00somewhere around that yeah and then we'll I think
- 1:48:07we get two episodes. We do one episode talking
- 1:48:09about our homework, and then we'll do an episode
- 1:48:11talking about the first five episodes of smoking.
- 1:48:14Sure. Yeah. Looking forward to it. I'm going
- 1:48:20to end the recording now. So, yeah, you all know
- 1:48:24your homework. You guys have to watch both. Oh,
- 1:48:28no. Yeah, otherwise you can't follow along. Now.
- 1:48:35Where to watch? What if people don't know where
- 1:48:37to watch? 5 centimeters per second. What's that?
- 1:48:40What if people don't know where to watch? Because
- 1:48:43a lot of, one of the main, I don't know if the
- 1:48:47main right today, but one of the barriers I encountered
- 1:48:52with anime is that where do I watch it? I mean,
- 1:48:54it's not like, it wasn't very popular content.
- 1:48:56I started watching. Yeah. I mean, there's obviously
- 1:49:01Crunchyroll is the big one now. They got most
- 1:49:04everything. I know 5 centimeters per second.
- 1:49:07I think it's on HBO right now. Really? Yeah.
- 1:49:11Well, the frigging behind the supermarket smoking
- 1:49:13with the pet, I think it's on Netflix. That's
- 1:49:16on Netflix, yeah. I guess it's on Netflix. I
- 1:49:21think I saw something about Netflix. Yeah. I
- 1:49:24mean, I don't know what this pet one is. Dude,
- 1:49:28I'm telling you, that's the name with that pet.
- 1:49:35But yeah, I think it's on Netflix. Yeah, so that's
- 1:49:40on Netflix. Yeah, that's on Netflix. The other
- 1:49:43one is on HBO. I've tried High Dive is another
- 1:49:48one. That's got like a bunch of kind of more
- 1:49:50racy animes and stuff. I didn't stay subscribed,
- 1:49:54but there's some funny stuff on there. All right.
- 1:49:59I get ads for it on Facebook all the time. Jesus.
- 1:50:03And every once in a while I'll be searching for
- 1:50:04I want to watch an anime. I find an anime I want
- 1:50:06to watch or add to my list and it'll be like,
- 1:50:08oh, it's only available on HiDive or whatever.
- 1:50:11And that makes me question like, what the fuck
- 1:50:12kind of anime am I looking up? HiAndive? HiAndive?
- 1:50:17HiDive. Oh, HiDive. I'm sorry. Yeah. You better
- 1:50:21be. All right. Well, until next time, everybody.
- 1:50:27Okay. Stay... Sundere. Sundere. Stay animated.
- 1:50:36I don't... Stay damaged. No, what was it? Stay
- 1:50:38damaged? Stay damaged. No, dude, that sounds
- 1:50:42fucking corny as shit. But we definitely got
- 1:50:44to find a new, like... I mean, Stay Metal was
- 1:50:47corny, but people... I don't know if people loved
- 1:50:50it. I liked it. I thought it was fun. It worked.
- 1:50:52I came across on YouTube. I can't... I see her
- 1:50:56channel every once in a while. It's someone who
- 1:50:58like talks about metal music or whatever, but
- 1:51:00part of her background, there's like one of those
- 1:51:02things where you can change the letters on it
- 1:51:04and it says stay metal on it. And I always wonder,
- 1:51:07like, I wonder if she used to listen to the fucking
- 1:51:08show. I do think, or rather would like to believe
- 1:51:13that we are some sort of cult classic waiting
- 1:51:16to emerge. Oh, yes. Thinking like. You know,
- 1:51:2150 years. I mean, until very recently, we would
- 1:51:25still get messages on Facebook going like, are
- 1:51:28you guys going to record another episode? Yeah.
- 1:51:31Yeah. And we said, yeah. Yeah, sure. We're going
- 1:51:35to do a fucking reunion. Hey, guess what, dudes?
- 1:51:39You like anime? Fuck. You got to get into anime
- 1:51:43now. Fuck. We're back. With some romance anime
- 1:51:49suggestions. Hell yeah. And between headbanging,
- 1:51:56I just like to watch my favorite romantic comedy.
- 1:52:01Japanese animation. It takes place in a high
- 1:52:03school, motherfuckers. Yes. High schoolers falling
- 1:52:08in love, living by themselves. Hell yeah. Second
- 1:52:11run. Back at it. All right. We'll see y 'all
- 1:52:18next time. Yeah, we got to figure something out.
- 1:52:20All right.
