- 0:10Speaker 2: Thank you so much for being here. We're so happy
- 0:12Speaker 2: to welcome you.
- 0:13Speaker 1: Talk about Emblem Health's commitment to the unions.
- 0:15Speaker 2: Firstly, our commitment to the unions is long, it's deep,
- 0:20Speaker 2: and it's wide. We have been partnering with labor unions
- 0:25Speaker 2: for decades and it will continue for many decades to
- 0:29Speaker 2: come because we are a union company. We're the only
- 0:33Speaker 2: health plan that's a union company, and we provide health
- 0:37Speaker 2: benefits for one point two million city workers along with
- 0:42Speaker 2: another number of other unions as well and employers. And
- 0:46Speaker 2: we feel very strongly that our commitment to labor unions
- 0:51Speaker 2: is something that they deserve, something that we work very
- 0:55Speaker 2: hard to do every day, and we will continue to
- 0:58Speaker 2: do it.
- 0:58Speaker 1: How does the Emblem because I know you're basically the
- 1:00Speaker 1: leading union healthcare and how do you guys manage all
- 1:03Speaker 1: the different unions you're partnered with?
- 1:05Speaker 2: Basically, it's just such a pleasure actually just to have
- 1:10Speaker 2: gotten to know so many union leaders and so many
- 1:13Speaker 2: of the rank and file union members here to make
- 1:17Speaker 2: sure that we're doing what they need. We're thinking ahead,
- 1:23Speaker 2: we're bringing innovation, we're bringing modernization, and we're bringing the
- 1:27Speaker 2: best of the best of their members because they deserve it.
- 1:29Speaker 1: Now, how about eminem health is you're also out there
- 1:32Speaker 1: for the public. You make sure the public knows everything.
- 1:34Speaker 1: So what as we talk now, is most concerned when
- 1:38Speaker 1: it comes to New York City.
- 1:40Speaker 2: What we're most concerned about is what everyone else is
- 1:42Speaker 2: most concerned about. That we get people moving across the
- 1:47Speaker 2: city safely, that we have the opportunity as a city
- 1:52Speaker 2: to thrive and grow, and to make sure that people
- 1:56Speaker 2: have the healthcare they need, which includes physical health, mental health,
- 2:01Speaker 2: and all the other services that are so important to people.
- 2:05Speaker 1: Hey, now a million people in New York City. What's
- 2:07Speaker 1: it like to you deleat one of the the leading
- 2:10Speaker 1: healthcareism in New York City? What does that mean to you?
- 2:12Speaker 2: It is such I get out of bed every morning
- 2:14Speaker 2: and I think it is such an honor to have
- 2:17Speaker 2: this role. I come from a union family. My dad
- 2:20Speaker 2: was a firefighter, my mom was a city worker. So
- 2:23Speaker 2: I and my dad actually worked for the firefighters union
- 2:28Speaker 2: and for the firefighters. As a firefighter before, they had
- 2:33Speaker 2: health benefits, so I understand what it's like and how
- 2:36Speaker 2: important it is to have health benefits. So we take
- 2:40Speaker 2: this job in this role very very seriously.
- 2:44Speaker 1: Now you're honoring the transit workers today, I mean without them,
- 2:47Speaker 1: we're not getting aywhere in the city, right, So talk
- 2:48Speaker 1: about the TWU that you're honoring today.
- 2:51Speaker 2: I'm so excited about this because talk about keeping the
- 2:54Speaker 2: city rolling. They keep the city rolling. I'm a bus rider,
- 2:57Speaker 2: I love the crosstown buses. I'm a suby writer, and
- 3:01Speaker 2: I so appreciate the work that the men and women
- 3:04Speaker 2: of the TWU do every day.
- 3:06Speaker 1: I'm so appreciate you said you're taking subway in bus,
- 3:08Speaker 1: because CEO, you're not just wheeling in. You're with us
- 3:11Speaker 1: amongst the crowd, I can tell you.
- 3:14Speaker 2: And I try to outsmart the schedule, so I end
- 3:17Speaker 2: up taking three trains and just to make sure I
- 3:20Speaker 2: can get to from point A to point B the
- 3:22Speaker 2: quickest possible.
- 3:23Speaker 1: I understanding there's an annual event, the Heroes of Labor,
- 3:25Speaker 1: So to put this on here at Emblem Health for you,
- 3:28Speaker 1: it seems like it means a lot and every year,
- 3:31Speaker 1: just having all these people here. What's that mean?
- 3:33Speaker 2: Oh, I just wouldn't miss it. It means it just
- 3:36Speaker 2: makes me so proud. It gives me goosebumps when I hear,
- 3:39Speaker 2: even though I read about these stories ahead of time,
- 3:42Speaker 2: when I see these individuals, these individual heroes, hear their stories,
- 3:47Speaker 2: hear their words from their own mouths, it just gives
- 3:51Speaker 2: me pride.
- 3:53Speaker 1: And one message from Endlem Help to the same of
- 3:55Speaker 1: New York as we say right now October twenty four.
- 4:00Speaker 2: US, it's our pleasure to serve you. We will continue
