- 0:31Speaker 1: Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the.
- 0:31Speaker 1: Mike Blitz.
- 0:32Speaker 1: I'm your host, mike Wade, my co-host over there, mike White, happy Wednesday.
- 0:35Speaker 1: Good morning, friend.
- 0:36Speaker 2: Happy Wednesday and good morning my 40-year-old, friend.
- 0:40Speaker 1: Oh, don't say that this is the thing that he's amping at 40.
- 0:42Speaker 1: Oh man, Another fantastic week of football.
- 0:46Speaker 1: Man, I'm sorry about your balls.
- 0:47Speaker 1: How are you feeling?
- 0:48Speaker 1: Today it's Wednesday, You've gotten away from a little bit.
- 0:50Speaker 1: What's going on?
- 0:51Speaker 1: What's the vibe?
- 0:52Speaker 2: You know I'm not feeling great, but I think I've grown a little bit.
- 0:55Speaker 2: You know my life isn't ruined as much as it used to be by losses like that, but I think it's also just because I have so much going on.
- 1:04Speaker 2: It's hard to be fully immersed in the suck when you've got, you know, two little boys running around, Correct.
- 1:13Speaker 1: Yeah, they don't care.
- 1:14Speaker 1: They will care eventually about how the balls do, but right now they're not high on their priority list, as you could probably imagine.
- 1:19Speaker 1: No, probably for the best, probably for the best Good stuff.
- 1:22Speaker 1: Well, we had a super exciting week of last week of football.
- 1:25Speaker 1: We also really kind of reviewed that, as we always do, and then we're going to jump into week four, which has got to be the most exciting week in college football that I can remember, and there's been some pretty big opening weekends, like 2019, I think, was a really big year.
- 1:37Speaker 1: This opening week, this week for college football slate is just massive.
- 1:42Speaker 1: So settle in, buckle in.
- 1:44Speaker 1: We're going to talk about it, but quickly, let's kind of run through what happened.
- 1:47Speaker 1: Week three I want to start with things.
- 1:50Speaker 1: I want to talk about that with the Colorado State Colorado game.
- 1:53Speaker 1: My only take is that would.
- 1:55Speaker 1: What a dirty game.
- 1:56Speaker 1: I think I saw 10 unsportsmanlike penalties.
- 2:01Speaker 2: The whole of you heard Dion.
- 2:02Speaker 2: It's personal, it's personal, it's personal.
- 2:06Speaker 1: Do we know if he's made the Oregon game this week personal yet has there been something that's?
- 2:09Speaker 2: something.
- 2:09Speaker 2: They haven't given him anything with which to make it personal, but I'm sure he'll he'll figure something out.
- 2:16Speaker 1: It's Wednesday but he hasn't made it personal yet.
- 2:18Speaker 1: But so far we're three for three on these football.
- 2:21Speaker 1: On Colorado football games being personal, I assume at some point the Oregon game will be personal.
- 2:25Speaker 1: My only take on that was you know, jv Norvell was obviously upset about Colorado.
- 2:29Speaker 1: I think his little big brother syndrome going on there.
- 2:32Speaker 1: Colorado is getting all the attention to Dion effect.
- 2:34Speaker 1: I mean I can you blame him and Colorado State?
- 2:37Speaker 1: Nobody was thinking about them and I think he was mad.
- 2:39Speaker 1: I think his commentary and I think I honestly I kind of blame it into the coaching.
- 2:43Speaker 1: I think it blended the game.
- 2:45Speaker 1: The players were fired up and angry and it was like a lot of cheap shots and dirty.
- 2:48Speaker 1: It was just dirty ball.
- 2:49Speaker 2: Frankly, that's my only takeaway from that game really yeah, my takeaway is that Colorado State put up a heck of a fight.
- 2:56Speaker 2: Probably shouldn't even have been in that game.
- 2:59Speaker 1: No, I don't think Colorado is that good.
- 3:00Speaker 1: I think we're talking about the second.
- 3:02Speaker 1: I think Colorado is about to get about to get humbled.
- 3:05Speaker 2: Well, yeah, especially without Travis Hunter.
- 3:07Speaker 1: Yeah, without Travis Hunter in Alton.
- 3:09Speaker 1: We'll talk about that in a minute, but I think I think the three and oh about the hitter hit a bump in the road.
- 3:15Speaker 2: Put it lightly, I'm going to take away from this weekend is it's the weekend of sleepy starts.
- 3:21Speaker 2: You had Texas in upset mode.
- 3:25Speaker 2: You had Georgia in upset mode.
- 3:27Speaker 2: You had Bama in upset mode, all in games that they should oh, and Ohio State all in games that they should have been rolling yeah.
- 3:35Speaker 1: A lot of those teams are in lookahead situations which you can kind of blame it on, or hangover situations like a Texas coming off course Texas Alabama game, which is the biggest game of the season so far.
- 3:42Speaker 1: But yeah, it was a bizarre week.
- 3:44Speaker 1: A couple teams were on the ropes looking at you Florida State, among others.
- 3:49Speaker 1: That really forgot about them as well.
- 3:51Speaker 1: Really lucky to get out there with the gate.
- 3:53Speaker 1: Alabama's quarterback situation is comedy.
- 3:56Speaker 1: At this point I can't believe what I'm seeing out in Alabama.
- 4:01Speaker 1: This is the worst Alabama football team since 2007, the year he got there, when they went seven and seven and lost to ULM at home.
- 4:09Speaker 1: I can't believe what I'm seeing on Alabama football team.
- 4:14Speaker 2: Yeah, it's just hard to really wrap your head around what you're seeing.
- 4:19Speaker 2: It's hard to understand where the issues lie.
- 4:22Speaker 2: I mean, it's weak.
- 4:23Speaker 2: It's going into week four.
- 4:24Speaker 2: I still don't know who they are as a football team.
- 4:27Speaker 2: I still don't have answers at quarterback.
- 4:29Speaker 2: They're not able to run the ball like they should be.
- 4:31Speaker 2: Yeah, you hate to see it, but also you love to see it.
- 4:35Speaker 2: Yeah, mainly, also mainly.
- 4:38Speaker 1: Mainly, mainly.
- 4:39Speaker 1: You love to see it.
- 4:39Speaker 1: I'm going to go ahead and say it now.
- 4:40Speaker 1: Here's your spicy take first thing in the morning A little pepper in your coffee.
- 4:43Speaker 1: If they lose to Ole Miss this weekend, Saban is done.
- 4:47Speaker 1: This is it.
- 4:47Speaker 1: I think this if they lose to Ole Miss this year, if they can't put their seven point favorites today, seven point favorites against Ole Miss, if they don't get it done, this is the end of Saban.
- 4:56Speaker 1: I think he's out of juice, out of steam.
- 4:58Speaker 1: I don't care that Julian's saying it's coming, I don't care.
- 5:01Speaker 1: They've got their class of five class, the next guy with the hair at that.
- 5:04Speaker 1: I think he's done.
- 5:05Speaker 2: I think we're just thinking he hangs it up.
- 5:07Speaker 1: I think he's.
- 5:07Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't think Saban is so smart and so good at what he does.
- 5:11Speaker 1: He's not going to be the guy who I'm going to throw Frank Bimmer out of the bus here.
- 5:14Speaker 1: Frank Bimmer's stuck around for like three years, literally three, six and six seasons.
- 5:18Speaker 1: All it did was hurt tech.
- 5:21Speaker 1: Unfortunately, I don't think Saban's going to be that guy.
- 5:23Speaker 1: I think Saban, at the point he wrote and he has said as much in like this is like 10 years ago.
- 5:27Speaker 1: But he was like at the point.
- 5:28Speaker 1: I feel like I can't get these young men to do what they're supposed to do focus on deliver the way they're supposed to deliver that I'm going to leave, which is what Tom Brady said as well.
- 5:37Speaker 1: Now, actually do.
- 5:39Speaker 1: Saying that and doing it are two different things, but Saban is just.
- 5:42Speaker 1: He's the greatest coach of all time.
- 5:43Speaker 1: I don't think he wants to go out like that.
- 5:45Speaker 1: So I think what I think he's going to do is go out the top or near the top and realize that it's time for him to move on.
- 5:50Speaker 1: That's my guess.
- 5:51Speaker 2: Well, the game is getting harder and it's changing for these head coaches, with NIL and with year round recruiting and the transfer portal and whatnot.
- 5:59Speaker 2: So you know, some of these older guys I could definitely see wanting to get all the kittens good, so to speak, but I don't know that's.
- 6:08Speaker 2: We're a long way away from that and they still have a lot of tough games left to play.
- 6:14Speaker 1: That's right.
- 6:14Speaker 1: That's right.
- 6:15Speaker 1: They still got Ole Miss, they got A&M, they got your balls, they got my Tigers.
- 6:19Speaker 1: There's a lot of meaningful football left.
- 6:21Speaker 1: And let's say I'll say the obvious thing everyone always says everything is still in front of them.
- 6:26Speaker 1: You know, there is a world where they rattle off whatever is left 10 straight go to Atlanta, georgia or Tennessee and playoff.
- 6:35Speaker 1: So we'll see.
- 6:36Speaker 1: Keep it down to that.
- 6:38Speaker 1: Drake May is awesome.
- 6:39Speaker 1: I think I was kind of sandbagging him the first two weeks.
- 6:41Speaker 1: I'm three weeks, excuse me.
- 6:43Speaker 1: I am revisiting that.
- 6:45Speaker 1: I think he is the second best quarterback.
- 6:47Speaker 1: He's top three for sure.
- 6:48Speaker 1: I don't know who's the best between Caleb Drake May and Penex, but he is right there he is good, no question, yeah, no question about it.
- 6:57Speaker 2: I really like speaking a lie.
- 6:59Speaker 1: I really like what I saw out of him, out of Minnesota, and I think I was pretty bearish on the rest of their team.
- 7:03Speaker 1: I think the roster might be better than I think UNC, very quietly, might end up being second or third best team in the ACC before it's all said and done.
- 7:12Speaker 1: I could see them finishing ahead of Duke in Miami and we'll see what Clemson has and we'll talk about Clemson for a minute, but we're going to find out.
- 7:19Speaker 1: Clemson already took a big shot from Duke, the mighty Dukes, so we'll see about that.
- 7:24Speaker 2: Yeah, ACC is going to be sneaky fun the rest of the year.
- 7:29Speaker 1: A couple more review thoughts Shout out.
- 7:31Speaker 1: I can't remember his name, the Mizzou kicker, 61 yard walk off field goal in the rain ruined every parlay I had and just about every play I had.
- 7:41Speaker 1: I was pretty bearish, pretty bullish on case eight, not flopped, but that was just.
- 7:46Speaker 1: I think it was the SEC record.
- 7:47Speaker 1: And if you saw the kick, the guy was standing under the uprights, it was like eight feet above his head.
- 7:53Speaker 1: That kick would have been good from like 65 or something.
- 7:56Speaker 1: It was a bomb.
- 7:58Speaker 2: Yeah, you don't see that often.
- 8:01Speaker 2: That was just even in the NFL.
- 8:03Speaker 2: I mean, that was just an insane kick.
- 8:05Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, I saw it.
- 8:06Speaker 1: I was like well again, I was still.
- 8:08Speaker 1: I was still obviously optimistic for case eight and I was like good, they forced the field goal.
- 8:11Speaker 1: No chance he makes this and we're going to go to overtime and I couldn't have been more wrong.
- 8:16Speaker 1: So that kid's going to have got his name the SEC record book for a long time.
- 8:20Speaker 1: Good for you, man.
- 8:21Speaker 1: Another great week for the PPP fund.
- 8:24Speaker 1: All Michael Pennix does is come out there and dominate.
- 8:27Speaker 1: Another 400 yard performance, four touchdowns.
- 8:29Speaker 1: I feel the stock is up.
- 8:33Speaker 1: Man, I can do polos.
- 8:34Speaker 1: I'm starting to imagine them in my head.
- 8:37Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, he's, he's really, he's really put himself at the top of the list and everyone under maybe him and Drake may at this point, and Devon O'Leary, perhaps Kylian, sure, yeah.
- 8:51Speaker 1: It's still.
- 8:51Speaker 1: I mean there's still.
- 8:52Speaker 1: There's still a world where an Alabama quarterback finds a way to lose me.
- 8:54Speaker 2: No, no maybe not, maybe not, I'll be on the way back.
- 8:58Speaker 1: But maybe Kate Clubnick finds his crack just his way back in.
- 9:00Speaker 1: I don't know, it's still plenty early.
- 9:02Speaker 1: I mean, there was years where we gave Leonard Furnett the Heisman in September and obviously didn't work out that way.
- 9:06Speaker 2: Yeah, sam.
- 9:06Speaker 1: Hartman Yep, sam Hartman.
- 9:08Speaker 1: Sam Hartman's got a big, big, big opportunity this weekend to put his name very high on that list.
- 9:14Speaker 1: What else am I talking about?
- 9:16Speaker 1: Real quick, penn State.
- 9:17Speaker 1: Penn State defense not an offense not showing up.
- 9:20Speaker 1: They played a mucky game.
- 9:22Speaker 1: They beat Illinois.
- 9:23Speaker 1: It was ugly Couple.
- 9:25Speaker 1: I got some red flags about Penn State.
- 9:27Speaker 1: Their offensive line is nowhere good as we thought it was going to be.
- 9:30Speaker 1: Drew Allar looks shaky.
- 9:32Speaker 1: He is not.
- 9:33Speaker 1: He's not having a great stat line.
- 9:34Speaker 1: I know Lambert Smith is emerging outside, but they still need a couple guys out there.
- 9:39Speaker 1: Their defense is good but it is not.
- 9:42Speaker 1: Is not Micah Parsons defense they're supposed to be?
- 9:46Speaker 1: I need more at a at Bucarder.
- 9:49Speaker 1: I need more at Chop Robinson.
- 9:50Speaker 1: They're they're three and O and obviously they've got lots of.
- 9:54Speaker 1: They've got lots of meaning football.
- 9:56Speaker 1: They're playing Iowa this week.
- 9:57Speaker 1: It can be the lowest scoring game in the history of college football, but I'm seeing some red flags, some Kingsley armor for around Penn State, who I thought was really going to challenge Michigan Ohio State this year.
- 10:46Speaker 2: Yeah, I still think.
- 10:48Speaker 2: I still think that they can.
- 10:49Speaker 2: You know, three weeks in they've looked good enough and you know, at this point you're starting to put together a resume, you're starting to put together what's going to be on, kind of the eye test, but you're still a different team week to week and they still haven't had reason to play their best and show their best.
- 11:08Speaker 2: So this weekend will be one to watch because they'll have to step it up a little bit.
- 11:12Speaker 1: Yep.
- 11:12Speaker 1: Last thing on last week, before we get to our home teams shout out Fresno State for taking 2.4 million in cash 1.3 and 1.1 from Purdue and Arizona State and handing them both L's.
- 11:25Speaker 1: You just love to see it.
- 11:26Speaker 1: In a world where schools oftentimes pay lesser programs to show up, take the L here's the paycheck and get the win.
- 11:33Speaker 1: They did.
- 11:34Speaker 1: You see it once every now and then twice in the same year.
- 11:38Speaker 1: Shout out Fresno State man.
- 11:40Speaker 2: Yeah, that's nice.
- 11:41Speaker 2: That's some ODU stuff right there, yeah it doesn't get much better than that.
- 11:45Speaker 1: Beating two Power Five programs and getting paid two and a half mil for it, you just go.
- 11:51Speaker 1: I mean Fresno fans.
- 11:51Speaker 1: He's got to love that.
- 11:52Speaker 1: I'll quickly talk about our four home squads before we move on.
- 11:56Speaker 1: I'll start with Virginia Tech.
- 11:58Speaker 1: Drones carried them all 22 times, did a lot of RPO stuff.
- 12:02Speaker 1: I like what I saw there.
- 12:05Speaker 1: Obviously they lost to Rutgers.
- 12:07Speaker 1: I think the last four was 14, 35, but he is doing things with the offense that I think that Grant Wells frankly can't do I really like there.
- 12:16Speaker 1: They desperately need Ali Jennings back.
- 12:18Speaker 2: The why I mean, they still only put up 16 points yeah 16,.
- 12:22Speaker 1: Excuse me, the big thing.
- 12:24Speaker 1: I'm kind of surprised I've given a Brent prize pedigree, as how bad the defense was.
- 12:28Speaker 1: Third was the stat line against Rutgers 34 rushes, 256 yards, seven and a half yards, a clip and four touchdowns.
- 12:35Speaker 1: Woof against Rutgers, I know About that.
- 12:42Speaker 2: Yeah, it's not good.
- 12:43Speaker 1: It's not good.
- 12:44Speaker 1: It's not very.
- 12:46Speaker 1: It's not good, not so good, al.
- 12:49Speaker 1: So what I like is I'm seeing drones.
- 12:52Speaker 1: I really think what he brings is a different dimension.
- 12:56Speaker 1: Make people spread, defend more the field.
- 12:58Speaker 1: On defense, this is a work in progress and prize got a ways to go, because they ain't there yet.
- 13:05Speaker 1: Uva Colandria.
- 13:09Speaker 1: The second week starting against started out hot was sticking to Maryland 14-7 before they yeah, they were in it.
- 13:17Speaker 2: He made a dime of a pass for a long touchdown.
- 13:21Speaker 2: I mean they looked pretty good.
- 13:23Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, you know what I like about UVA.
- 13:26Speaker 1: I'm seeing the emergent of Malik Washington and Malachi, fields out wide.
- 13:31Speaker 1: I mean I think those are legitimate weapons.
- 13:33Speaker 1: I think the defense is doing what it can do.
- 13:36Speaker 1: I still think the D-line is strengthening this team.
- 13:38Speaker 1: The offensive line just gonna continue to be a major, major issue for this team moving forward.
- 13:45Speaker 1: But in UVA's credit, they are starting to see some things emerge.
- 13:49Speaker 1: I think they've actually legitimately have two pretty solid options for the quarterback and I think wide outs you're starting to see some flashes there.
- 13:56Speaker 1: So if they can just get some blocking, they've already got.
- 13:59Speaker 1: They've already got the Paris Jones still there.
- 14:01Speaker 1: They've got some options in the backfield but the blocking is just it's not gonna be, it's not over my fix.
- 14:08Speaker 2: Yeah, and this was a pretty good game until late.
- 14:11Speaker 2: Uva played them tough.
- 14:13Speaker 2: Maryland's offense proved to be too much for them.
- 14:16Speaker 2: The game got away from them and they're not really built to come back from a large deficit.
- 14:21Speaker 2: You know, baby Tua balled out, made some really nice throws.
- 14:26Speaker 1: And he does that, he's super athletic.
- 14:28Speaker 2: Yeah, he's hard, kind of hard to deal with, but yeah, I thought it was a good showing from UVA overall.
- 14:33Speaker 2: I mean that was a tough kind of a tough game for them.
- 14:36Speaker 1: And.
- 14:37Speaker 2: Maryland's no pushover.
- 14:38Speaker 1: No, especially on offense Maryland, and that was Friday night as a win away.
- 14:42Speaker 1: As in college park, maryland's offense is going to score a lot of points on a lot of really good teams.
- 14:47Speaker 1: So you know, getting scored 35 points on is nothing to be ashamed of by any means from the old Wahoos.
- 14:53Speaker 1: All right, let's talk about our teams.
- 14:55Speaker 1: If you wanna go first, you want me to.
- 14:58Speaker 2: I'll go really quickly.
- 14:59Speaker 2: So obviously Tennessee goes down to the swamp and drops a tough one.
- 15:04Speaker 2: We just can't win in the swamp.
- 15:06Speaker 2: It's deja vu all over again.
- 15:08Speaker 2: And you know, I think the toughest part is just seeing a lack of execution, a lot of people, a lot of all fans calling for Nico Eomaliaba who's the five-star freshman.
- 15:20Speaker 2: That's not gonna be the answer.
- 15:22Speaker 2: It's not a quick fix.
- 15:23Speaker 2: Offensive line played terrible.
- 15:25Speaker 2: We were without our starting center, cooper Mays.
- 15:27Speaker 2: The other I think it was our right tackle Mincey, didn't play as well, so we got a patchwork O-line.
- 15:33Speaker 2: O-line got destroyed.
- 15:35Speaker 2: They weren't operating at a high level.
- 15:37Speaker 2: Their penalties all over the place went for like 10 penalties for like 90 yards.
- 15:41Speaker 2: A ton of pre-snap stuff.
- 15:43Speaker 2: You just can't start drives in the hole like that and you know it was just a bad look.
- 15:48Speaker 2: The defense played terrible.
- 15:52Speaker 2: So there's just a lot of questions and I think that's the most concerning thing is, you know we're three weeks in and we have yet to see this team operate at a high level really anywhere.
- 16:04Speaker 2: The run game has looked good.
- 16:05Speaker 2: The D-line, you know, the defensive front has looked good at times but definitely did not play well in the swamp, which is kind of how things go for us.
- 16:16Speaker 1: So I got down a couple of notes when I was watching that game as well.
- 16:19Speaker 1: I'll disappoint with the offensive line.
- 16:20Speaker 1: I really thought and I said last week I thought the big key is victory was them setting the tone.
- 16:24Speaker 1: I didn't realize how important that starting center Mays was really going to hurt them.
- 16:29Speaker 1: I thought the defense played really aggressive and they were in position.
- 16:32Speaker 1: They missed a lot of tackles.
- 16:33Speaker 1: I saw them overrun a couple of plays and guys open field.
- 16:40Speaker 1: They had their hands on them.
- 16:41Speaker 1: They couldn't bring them down.
- 16:42Speaker 1: I didn't think that was going to happen.
- 16:44Speaker 2: To that point.
- 16:44Speaker 2: Kamal had and should never play again.
- 16:46Speaker 2: He tried to tackle like he had no arms.
- 16:53Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, there was it, just it was just egregious.
- 16:56Speaker 1: Yeah, it was.
- 16:57Speaker 1: I don't know if it was the adrenaline, lack of fundamentals, just overthinking plays, but it just it didn't they overran too many things.
- 17:04Speaker 1: I didn't think.
- 17:05Speaker 1: Those are two things I didn't see come.
- 17:07Speaker 1: I thought I thought offensive line was gonna play a lot better and I thought defense would certainly tackle a lot better.
- 17:11Speaker 1: I thought Merch was solid and all he really do is just didn't shoot himself in the foot.
- 17:14Speaker 1: He didn't make, he didn't.
- 17:16Speaker 1: He did not do anything particularly impressive to beat the Vols.
- 17:19Speaker 1: He was, except for just let the Vols beat themselves, which is a lot.
- 17:23Speaker 2: Yeah, and Billy Napier had a great plan coming in Ton of misdirection and sweep action, horizontal stuff, and the Vols are without their starting linebacker, keena Peely, and that hurt too.
- 17:38Speaker 2: We had a young guy in there, he didn't.
- 17:40Speaker 2: There was a ton of mismatches, a man where guys just didn't get picked up, a lot of miscommunication and just a lot of dysfunction.
- 17:49Speaker 1: Yeah, didn't love it.
- 17:50Speaker 1: I other thing I saw was I thought we saw some flashes from Milton.
- 17:54Speaker 1: Good and bad, the interception was woeful.
- 17:57Speaker 1: I mean that was like a fair catch throw, but I saw but the dime he threw on the sideline.
- 18:02Speaker 1: The second half, like this, has kind of been the story of Milton.
- 18:05Speaker 1: You know, it's like what we all want to see is like when he's at his best for 60 minutes, like he's quite frankly a Heisman caliber quarterback Quarterback.
- 18:13Speaker 1: The problem is we're only seeing that 15% of the time, 20% of the time.
- 18:18Speaker 1: So we're too much inconsistency for me from Milton.
- 18:22Speaker 1: But my point is you could see it on the field in the swamp flashing the greatness and also then not so great.
- 18:29Speaker 2: That's my yeah, the highs are high, the lows are too low and there's not.
- 18:33Speaker 2: He doesn't have a good, he doesn't have a good understanding on how the offense functions.
- 18:40Speaker 2: A ton of wasted timeouts, a lot of just pre snap stuff that you know, maybe calling the wrong checks or the wrong reads, some of that execution stuff with the offensive line is got to be on him.
- 18:53Speaker 2: But yeah, that that seam route he threw to Dante Thornton was that might have been one of the best balls I've ever seen.
- 19:00Speaker 2: Yeah, it only it only got like eight feet above the air.
- 19:03Speaker 1: It was a straight dart, it was a frozen on the field.
- 19:07Speaker 1: Yeah, so you know that and that's what you see.
- 19:10Speaker 1: It's almost like playing golf and you're like not good at golf.
- 19:12Speaker 1: Like you, you, you, you spend like 12 holes being terrible.
- 19:15Speaker 1: You have that one great shot.
- 19:16Speaker 1: You're like, see, I could do it Like it's just.
- 19:18Speaker 1: We just need to see more of that from Milton all the time.
- 19:21Speaker 1: He is capable.
- 19:22Speaker 1: Just need more consistency.
- 19:23Speaker 1: Anything else in the balls before we swivel with my Tigers, nope, cool.
- 19:29Speaker 1: Lsu dominant win went to went to Starkville.
- 19:31Speaker 1: Stark Vegas put it on him 41 14.
- 19:33Speaker 1: My notes this is the best version of Jadon Daniels we've ever seen.
- 19:38Speaker 1: Frankly, I think that was his best game in purple and gold in his one and a half seasons.
- 19:43Speaker 1: I just thought that was as good as it gets.
- 19:45Speaker 1: I really liked what I saw from the, the teams or the, the pecking order.
- 19:50Speaker 1: Kyren Lacey has clearly been replaced by Chris Hilton.
- 19:53Speaker 1: What I receive, that's a great.
- 19:54Speaker 1: That's for the better.
- 19:55Speaker 1: Logan digs and Caleb Jackson Did you see that?
- 19:57Speaker 1: True freshman Caleb Jackson laid the hit on that Mississippi State guy, or the biggest hit of the year?
- 20:02Speaker 1: We've seen like we have some clarity on the running back pecking order.
- 20:06Speaker 1: Lsu had about a seven man race for running back coming this season.
- 20:10Speaker 1: The offensive line, the right side, it's five star.
- 20:12Speaker 1: Freshman Zalons heard, finally got in the field.
- 20:14Speaker 1: Emery Jones kicked inside.
- 20:15Speaker 1: It looks like LSU is finally getting to its best.
- 20:18Speaker 1: Five.
- 20:19Speaker 1: Will Campbell, lsu's all American left tackle, got benched for four flags of wildly uncorrected her to bad game.
- 20:27Speaker 1: That's obviously not good.
- 20:29Speaker 1: I'm not worried about that.
- 20:30Speaker 1: But what I liked it was Brian Kelly benched him anyway and you could see him on the sideline at one point saying I don't care what he is, he's got four flags.
- 20:36Speaker 1: Sit him down.
- 20:36Speaker 1: So I was the offensive line still performed really well, really happy with the way he's doing that.
- 20:41Speaker 1: The defensive backs, the inside linebacker, the freshman Witt Weeks, played really well in placing for Omar Spates.
- 20:50Speaker 1: I just have lots of great things say oh, oh and huge credit to you, mike White.
- 20:55Speaker 1: Huge credit to you, mike White.
- 20:56Speaker 1: We were talking.
- 20:58Speaker 1: You said last week before you where is Malik neighbors?
- 21:00Speaker 1: What is Malik neighbors going to do?
- 21:02Speaker 1: When is he going to show up?
- 21:03Speaker 1: He heard you, malik.
- 21:04Speaker 1: He heard you and he said I don't, I can't have these Titans of industry, these Titans of media talking bad about me.
- 21:09Speaker 1: I gotta take the respect back in my name and he went off for 14 catches, 230 yards, pajillion touchdowns Thanks to you, you, you may that?
- 21:18Speaker 2: that is what I was just about to say.
- 21:19Speaker 2: I was going to say Malik neighbors, welcome to college football.
- 21:23Speaker 2: My friend 239, two touchdowns, he was the go to guy, got the offense going, gave him some swagger.
- 21:29Speaker 2: Yeah, jane Daniels played great and yeah, I'll see you roles.
- 21:34Speaker 2: They look good.
- 21:34Speaker 2: I do have to say to the Mississippi State Bulldogs what are you doing?
- 21:40Speaker 2: Oh my God, will Rogers, 11 for 2803 yards.
- 21:45Speaker 2: He was one of the best quarterbacks, returning quarterbacks in the SEC.
- 21:48Speaker 2: He's being completely underutilized.
- 21:51Speaker 2: They have no identity.
- 21:53Speaker 2: This they just look really bad and they look way worse than they should.
- 21:58Speaker 2: Credit to us.
- 21:59Speaker 2: You but Mississippi State little bit of a train wreck right now.
- 22:03Speaker 1: So I actually have.
- 22:04Speaker 1: My last note on that game is I don't think Zach or nets to be coach next year.
- 22:08Speaker 2: Yeah, he's, he looks in over his head.
- 22:10Speaker 1: No, this is this, isn't it?
- 22:11Speaker 1: It reminds me a lot of Tony Elliott's first coach at UVA when they had Brandon Armstrong and they had those wide outs and they were trying to do some, install some new system or whatever it was, because they don't want to do Broncos offense.
- 22:24Speaker 1: I get that.
- 22:25Speaker 1: I get you're trying to change team but while you got these guys and you know what they're good at, use them and then long run you get your freshman in there to slowly ease out and I think Zach are net would have really would behooved him to run Mike Leach's air raid offense for a bit longer.
- 22:40Speaker 1: Keep the OC in place, keep them doing what they're doing because they're just.
- 22:44Speaker 1: They weren't a perfect team even under Mike Leach and what they had there, but this version of grounded pound defense with Mike Leach's personnel is a disaster.
- 22:56Speaker 2: Yeah, and I think that that's a good comparison that you just made.
- 22:59Speaker 2: And yeah, he's got so many returning starters, returning seniors I mean it's like 95% of his roster.
- 23:08Speaker 2: I mean he had some good bones to have a good year and they still can.
- 23:12Speaker 2: They just look very, very inept right now and definitely not taking advantage of the talent that they have.
- 23:20Speaker 1: Yeah, no, I think I agree wholeheartedly.
- 23:23Speaker 1: So we'll see.
- 23:25Speaker 1: Mississippi State looks like the rest of the year.
- 23:26Speaker 1: Anything else on the previous week.
- 23:30Speaker 2: No, we've got a lot to cover, so let's keep it moving, let's keep moving, let's super quick.
- 23:34Speaker 1: It's time for your dating game.
- 23:38Speaker 1: Trivia game.
- 23:39Speaker 1: Mike, I got some trivia for you today.
- 23:41Speaker 1: It's an interesting question I think you enjoy.
- 23:45Speaker 1: Which ACC team leads the country?
- 23:48Speaker 1: Leads the country it has the longest street of not having a top 10 win, meaning how many, which ACC team leads the country and not having a single top 10 win?
- 24:00Speaker 1: I'm going to tell you Kansas's last one was 08.
- 24:02Speaker 1: Maryland, vandy, rutgers and Colorado was 07.
- 24:05Speaker 1: 07 was that crazy year where LSU got in with two lost after championship.
- 24:09Speaker 1: Uva was 05.
- 24:11Speaker 1: The winner, the leader of this statistic, was behind them.
- 24:14Speaker 1: Which ACC team leads the country having the longest streak of not having a single top 10 win?
- 24:21Speaker 1: Hmm, syracuse?
- 24:25Speaker 1: No, that would be wake forest, wake forest, my favorite before.
- 24:29Speaker 2: Jim, just you know in the last.
- 24:30Speaker 2: So I thought this was kind of a Trick question because we had so much conference realignment.
- 24:34Speaker 2: Yeah, that's fair.
- 24:36Speaker 1: Do you want you know when wake forces last top 10 win was 1946 the end of the end of World.
- 24:44Speaker 2: War two.
- 24:44Speaker 2: I Thought that maybe they got my.
- 24:47Speaker 2: That was my first thought, but I thought, maybe that they picked one up a couple years ago when they were we, you know, when they were hot.
- 24:54Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, they had some chances against Clemson floor state in previous year, especially with the Dave Kloss and Sam Hartman experience, but they have.
- 25:00Speaker 1: Wake forest is going top 10 winless for 80 years, which is just wild to me.
- 25:07Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 25:07Speaker 1: But you considering the second place one is our obviously UVA.
- 25:10Speaker 1: Wahoo 2005, only 18 years ago.
- 25:12Speaker 1: So that's a truly wild statistic.
- 25:14Speaker 1: Yep, all right, good stuff let's talk about on week four.
- 25:16Speaker 1: I'm gonna say it again If you've got stuff to do this weekend, do it on Sunday, do it on Friday, because this is going to be 12 to midnight Eastern, some of the best college football action.
- 25:27Speaker 1: I mean, of course, I should say, at least on paper.
- 25:28Speaker 1: We'll see what the game actually look like, but on paper this is as good as it gets.
- 25:32Speaker 1: Um, I, is there any ways you want to start, mike?
- 25:37Speaker 2: No, wherever you want, let's jump in.
- 25:39Speaker 1: Let's do Florida state at Clemson.
- 25:40Speaker 1: That one's at noon, that's what I'm watching at noon.
- 25:42Speaker 1: Florida state at Clemson Uh, give me open, as I can pick on the line.
- 25:45Speaker 1: Move to like Clemson, florida state minus two.
- 25:47Speaker 1: I'm gonna say it right now I think Clemson state, clemson, clemson state, clemson is a brutal place to play.
- 25:53Speaker 1: I think their version of Death Valley, not the real Death Valley, obviously their version of Death Valley is impressive and it's places gonna be gonna be lit up, it's going to be wild.
- 26:03Speaker 1: I'm just not buying Clemson.
- 26:04Speaker 1: I recognize the Florida state slept walk through their Boston College game and barely Barely left chest on hill with a win.
- 26:11Speaker 1: Yeah, that didn't.
- 26:12Speaker 1: They don't look good.
- 26:13Speaker 1: They don't look good in Boston.
- 26:14Speaker 1: Everybody agrees on that.
- 26:15Speaker 1: I Am still in in in the camp that Florida state is excellent.
- 26:19Speaker 1: They are a quality team.
- 26:20Speaker 1: They're in my playoff.
- 26:21Speaker 1: For for a reason I'm not buying the Clemson Rehabilitation project.
- 26:26Speaker 1: I got Florida state here by like seven or more.
- 26:29Speaker 2: Yeah, I agree with you.
- 26:30Speaker 2: I like Florida state.
- 26:31Speaker 2: I think that they, when you look at kind of the rosters right now, where both teams are, and you look at kind of that head, I like to kind of start with some of these head-to-head matchups, so to speak.
- 26:41Speaker 1: Mm-hmm.
- 26:41Speaker 2: Florida state has much better quarterback play.
- 26:43Speaker 2: Florida state has much better offensive line play.
- 26:46Speaker 2: Florida state has much, much better defensive line play.
- 26:48Speaker 2: Clemson got pushed around by Duke and I know it's gonna be at home, I know it's in Death Valley, but all these things just tell me Florida state should win this game.
- 26:59Speaker 1: Yeah, now the one thing I will expect is I will say Jordan Travis is healthy.
- 27:03Speaker 1: He went down with an injury in the game.
- 27:04Speaker 1: My last word was that they think he's going.
- 27:07Speaker 1: Um, uh, he will, he'll be available.
- 27:10Speaker 1: But that mean there's a world where if he's, if he's, if he's not feeling well, if his arm is not all the way there, like that, obviously that obviously changes.
- 27:18Speaker 1: Anybody who knows football knows if your quarterback heard that changes the whole complexion of your teams Chance of winning.
- 27:24Speaker 1: So that's kind of the X factor here.
- 27:26Speaker 1: But assuming Jordan Travis is at 85, 90%, full go.
- 27:30Speaker 1: I got noals.
- 27:31Speaker 1: I got noals rolling through Clemson.
- 27:33Speaker 1: But you know this one play the games.
- 27:35Speaker 1: I cannot wait to watch that game.
- 27:36Speaker 1: I can't believe it's at noon.
- 27:37Speaker 1: What a gift, yeah, for a noon game.
- 27:39Speaker 1: Yeah, that's a good one.
- 27:40Speaker 1: Next one Oregon minus 21 at home in Outtson, which is a another.
- 27:46Speaker 1: Okay, we're talking about some hornets nest this morning.
- 27:48Speaker 1: Mike Revenlato talking more important.
- 27:50Speaker 1: Oh yeah, it's nice, I love it, and they're hosting Colorado.
- 27:55Speaker 1: Colorado 3 and 0.
- 27:56Speaker 1: Obviously Dion the toast of the town, the story of our college football, for good reason, honeymoon is over.
- 28:02Speaker 1: One Colorado is having.
- 28:06Speaker 1: They've got injury problems of the Travis hunters out there.
- 28:08Speaker 1: I think they're down to starting offensive linemen and they're all.
- 28:12Speaker 1: They were already had zero depth to begin with coming into the season at least quality depth and they're in the trenches.
- 28:18Speaker 1: They are just frankly, not good.
- 28:20Speaker 1: Colorado State is not a good team.
- 28:22Speaker 1: No, I've got a little quick side note middle Tennessee I think it's my soon half against Colorado State this week.
- 28:28Speaker 1: Go ahead and bet that if you want some money.
- 28:29Speaker 1: This is.
- 28:31Speaker 1: I think Oregon is going to blow the doors off them.
- 28:34Speaker 1: I think.
- 28:34Speaker 1: I think Bonix and Will Stein's office of offensive coordinators Phenomenal into a phenomenal job.
- 28:40Speaker 1: I think they'll.
- 28:41Speaker 1: Just the caliber of athlete At every, at every 22 across a whole too deep is so much better than anything Colorado has seen this week.
- 28:50Speaker 1: I think we're gonna see a classic Outclass football game here.
- 28:54Speaker 2: Yeah, I hate to say it, but I completely agree with you.
- 28:56Speaker 2: And so that's two in a row, so we're getting into dangerous waters.
- 29:00Speaker 2: Yeah, that's not a good time.
- 29:01Speaker 2: But yeah, I think you know, as much as fun as it has been to go on this hype train with with Dion in Colorado, I think it has been a little smoke and mirrors.
- 29:11Speaker 2: They haven't played the best competition.
- 29:14Speaker 2: Tcu, you know, drop off this year.
- 29:16Speaker 2: Colorado State Is what they are.
- 29:20Speaker 2: Nobody expected them to be any good at all and they took them to the wire.
- 29:22Speaker 2: Oregon is for real and Bonix is for real, and no one's really talking that much about Bonix.
- 29:28Speaker 2: This will be his kind of national coming out party for for this season when he's back in the Heisman conversation.
- 29:35Speaker 2: He's gonna put up big numbers.
- 29:36Speaker 2: Oregon's gonna put up big offensive numbers.
- 29:40Speaker 1: Yeah, I, yeah, I just I just don't see it.
- 29:42Speaker 1: Um, like, also, the other thing is a shooter Sanders, who was a legit quarterback.
- 29:47Speaker 1: He is not some FCS transfer son of you.
- 29:49Speaker 1: Didn't know, I don't.
- 29:50Speaker 1: I didn't know this until actually this season.
- 29:52Speaker 1: I should have, but I didn't.
- 29:53Speaker 1: Shame on me.
- 29:54Speaker 1: Shoulder Sanders was a legitimate high four star who had offers from Georgia, yeah, clemson, a lot of really high quality programs.
- 30:01Speaker 1: I was a little shell shocked with how good he was coming out of the gate and I he's.
- 30:05Speaker 1: He is a very legitimate quarterback and he's really, really good.
- 30:07Speaker 1: I think he might even be an NFL quarterback.
- 30:09Speaker 1: We'll see how his career pans out.
- 30:10Speaker 1: But he's getting murdered.
- 30:12Speaker 1: I think I saw he's getting Sacks six, seven times a game.
- 30:15Speaker 1: He's getting hit, play more.
- 30:17Speaker 1: Um, what's it kind of happening?
- 30:19Speaker 1: It's that's, that's that's TCU Nebraska in Colorado State.
- 30:23Speaker 1: What is Oregon gonna do to him?
- 30:25Speaker 1: Jordan Birch, one of my breakout stars from the from our preseason pot I was talking about, is going to have a field day on Colorado's offensive line.
- 30:34Speaker 2: Yeah, he's got to protect himself.
- 30:35Speaker 2: He's got to be smart and part of his game is obviously you know he's super athletic, he uses legs, he moves around in the pocket.
- 30:41Speaker 2: He's really got to protect himself this week Agreed.
- 30:45Speaker 1: Let's keep rolling Alabama at home, minus seven kids, ole Miss, jalen Milrow back under center, which I think is going to give this team actually a nice boost.
- 30:52Speaker 1: Tyler Buckner and Ty Simpson are not it's least not now Jalen Milrow.
- 30:58Speaker 1: It clearly is their best option there.
- 31:00Speaker 1: I loved the Lane Kiffin commentary, did you see this?
- 31:03Speaker 1: So Lane Kiffin was at a press conference talking about their defense and he made this claim that is like oh, I'm watching their defense.
- 31:09Speaker 1: Kevin Steel is not calling their defense their.
- 31:12Speaker 1: Their defensive backs coach is the guy, which is the most bizarre claim I've ever heard of somebody else running somebody else's team.
- 31:20Speaker 1: Lane Kiffin feels like he knows Kevin steel enough and the defensive coordinators defensive backs name, which is whose name is escaping me right now that he's.
- 31:30Speaker 1: What do you make of that?
- 31:34Speaker 2: This is classic Lane Kiffin.
- 31:35Speaker 2: This is why we love him and this is why he's kind of he's just really brash, but he says he speaks truth a lot of times.
- 31:44Speaker 2: When he was at Tennessee he said I will never lose to a Mark Richt team Because of the.
- 31:50Speaker 2: I can just know how to line up and attack those teams.
- 31:54Speaker 2: And this is kind of one of those things where he is really smart he knows what he's looking at.
- 31:58Speaker 2: So I wouldn't doubt it if he was absolutely correct.
- 32:04Speaker 1: Yeah, my only rub with I mean I totally agree with what you're saying my only rub with Link is he can't feel the defense.
- 32:08Speaker 1: I don't understand, because I mean, offensively he's a brilliant X and O's tactician.
- 32:12Speaker 1: I think everybody has seen that, as at FIU, as Alabama OC, at Ole Miss.
- 32:20Speaker 1: I mean we feel Lane Kiffin team, you're going to score a point.
- 32:22Speaker 1: Even at USC back then and when he was a Raiders coach, they can always score points Like that's never been a question.
- 32:27Speaker 1: Why can't he feel the defense?
- 32:28Speaker 1: I actually think Alabama is going to have some.
- 32:32Speaker 1: I think I think Alabama has gotten a lot of what we call Bolton board material.
- 32:36Speaker 1: People have been pooping Bama all week and that's still a roster of 85 guys which is the most talented locker room in the country.
- 32:46Speaker 1: I think Bama is going to step back big time.
- 32:48Speaker 1: That game is in Tuscaloosa.
- 32:49Speaker 1: Give me Alabama minus six and a half minus seven, what it is.
- 32:52Speaker 1: I think Milrose can do a lot of keepers.
- 32:54Speaker 1: I think he's going to be a lot of design plays.
- 32:57Speaker 1: I think that defense is going to get up.
- 32:59Speaker 1: I think Lane Kiffin is going to go for a couple fourth downs and not convert, and I'm going to.
- 33:04Speaker 1: I'm taking a square play pretty much across the board this week.
- 33:06Speaker 1: So far, three for three.
- 33:06Speaker 1: Give me Alabama to cover.
- 33:10Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't.
- 33:10Speaker 2: I don't hate that pick, especially because Alabama has been hearing about it and they've got a quarterback change which will give them a little bit of a spark.
- 33:18Speaker 2: This one's tough.
- 33:19Speaker 2: I don't have a strong feeling about this one.
- 33:21Speaker 2: I could totally see Ole Miss coming in there and get the win.
- 33:24Speaker 2: It's always a tough game for them.
- 33:25Speaker 2: It seems like the Alabama Ole Miss matchup.
- 33:28Speaker 2: I don't, like I said, I don't have a super strong feeling about this.
- 33:33Speaker 2: I could see Ole Miss edge in this one out.
- 33:35Speaker 2: So I'll be.
- 33:35Speaker 2: I'll be watching very closely.
- 33:38Speaker 2: I kind of like Ole Miss, but yeah, bama at home is going to be tough.
- 33:43Speaker 1: I'm going to talk about two quickly, two packed 12.
- 33:45Speaker 1: I don't have much.
- 33:46Speaker 1: This is just.
- 33:46Speaker 1: This is just a product of how good.
- 33:48Speaker 1: How good does my point about this?
- 33:49Speaker 1: This is how good these games are UCLA at Utah, minus four and a half and Oregon State minus three and a half at Washington State.
- 33:55Speaker 1: Two, two games, all four teams ranked, both phenomenal.
- 33:59Speaker 1: No one's going to watch any of them, you know, and I'm going to try and have them on my second or third TV, but we are so deep here I just want to quickly shout out um, camera rising, Johnson Smith and DJ Ugole.
- 34:10Speaker 1: I don't have anything on either of these games, just because they are just so far down the list of the qualities.
- 34:16Speaker 1: Do you have anything to say about the pack 12 games week?
- 34:19Speaker 2: No, I think they're.
- 34:20Speaker 2: They're all kind of like you said they're.
- 34:21Speaker 2: They're under the radar games, which is unfortunate, because any other weekend those would be kind of the ones you'd be tuning in on.
- 34:26Speaker 2: I've been watching every minute of these games last week, yeah.
- 34:30Speaker 2: But I think what this is, what I love about college football is you start with a huge slate like this and then you keep your eyes on on them and then, as the games get a little bit later, you start flipping around, finding the one that that's close, you know, finding the one that's the surprise, or finding the upset, and so, and then you always get them.
- 34:49Speaker 2: You get a handful every weekend.
- 34:51Speaker 2: Even last weekend, which was kind of a sleeper weekend, there was a ton of games of intrigue into the third quarter.
- 34:59Speaker 2: Some of them got wild and got out of hand and were decided with larger margins, but there was a lot of eye opening stat lines, you know, halfway through.
- 35:08Speaker 1: This is one of those weeks where, if you have a YouTube TV or Hulu where you could do like the multi quad box in your this is what you pay for.
- 35:15Speaker 1: This is one of those weeks where you're going to have that and I'm kicking myself for still having legacy cable with Xfinity.
- 35:20Speaker 1: I don't know what is wrong with me.
- 35:22Speaker 1: I'm the oldest millennial you've ever met.
- 35:24Speaker 1: I'm cutting the cord.
- 35:25Speaker 1: Next season.
- 35:26Speaker 1: I quit, I quit Mike.
- 35:28Speaker 1: So let's keep it moving.
- 35:30Speaker 1: Penn State at Iowa.
- 35:31Speaker 1: I don't have any other than just take the under.
- 35:34Speaker 1: What this is?
- 35:35Speaker 1: What's happening with the Iowa offensive coordinator and the points per game thing is hilarious.
- 35:40Speaker 1: Penn State Iowa.
- 35:41Speaker 1: Penn State's offense is sputtering.
- 35:43Speaker 1: Another ranked matchup suspect to be a good game.
- 35:46Speaker 1: It's on seven o'clock.
- 35:47Speaker 1: It's going to competing with the next game we're talking about, which is to be that liner.
- 35:50Speaker 1: Anything on Penn State Iowa.
- 35:52Speaker 1: My only note is take the under.
- 35:54Speaker 1: What's the spread?
- 35:54Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 35:55Speaker 1: I don't care.
- 35:56Speaker 1: Take the under.
- 35:57Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 35:58Speaker 2: I don't know, I think you're.
- 35:59Speaker 2: You're not given quite enough credit to Penn State's offense.
- 36:02Speaker 2: I will, depending on the line I'd be interested in Penn State's minus 15.
- 36:07Speaker 1: So a little over two touchdowns.
- 36:09Speaker 2: Never mind.
- 36:10Speaker 1: That's a big spread and the over under is 40, which I'm surprised.
- 36:14Speaker 1: I'm surprised it got out of the 30s, frankly, for this team.
- 36:17Speaker 1: It's in beaver stadium, so the it's going to be chaos, it's going to be a night game.
- 36:21Speaker 1: I'm sure they're going to get up, but who's going to score any points in that game?
- 36:24Speaker 2: Penn State.
- 36:25Speaker 2: Penn State's going to.
- 36:26Speaker 2: They'll be fine.
- 36:26Speaker 2: They're going to cover.
- 36:27Speaker 2: They're going to cover my 15.
- 36:28Speaker 2: It's going to be close.
- 36:29Speaker 2: It's going to be really close.
- 36:32Speaker 1: I will leave it at that.
- 36:33Speaker 1: Hopefully, hopefully, this is the week.
- 36:35Speaker 1: I mean, like you said, they haven't really had to show it yet.
- 36:37Speaker 1: West Virginia and Illinois didn't put much of a threat.
- 36:40Speaker 1: But if Drew, alar, lambert, smith, caitran, allen, singleton, that offense, the offensive line in particular, and Iowa's got a big, awesome front seven, they're going to be really challenged this week.
- 36:51Speaker 1: If they're going to find that year to challenge the Michigan Ohio State, I think it's got to be this week.
- 36:55Speaker 1: I think you need to see the next step for the Penn State offense.
- 36:58Speaker 1: I'll talk about the headliner Ohio State at Notre Dame.
- 37:02Speaker 1: I'm going to say it right now I have no idea what's going to happen this game.
- 37:08Speaker 2: It's going to be fun.
- 37:09Speaker 2: Both teams will be had both teams.
- 37:12Speaker 2: So I think that the storyline here is you've got two very different looks at each team.
- 37:20Speaker 2: Coming in, notre Dame looks so much better than anyone thought they did, with Hartman behind center.
- 37:24Speaker 2: Ohio State has kind of struggled to find their identity early in the year.
- 37:28Speaker 2: Their offense has sputtered.
- 37:30Speaker 2: They have not been the high flying Ohio State that they were last year.
- 37:34Speaker 2: Quarterback play has been fine but not outstanding, and I think there's a little bit more pressure on Ohio State here.
- 37:41Speaker 2: If Ryan Day loses this one and Michigan's still looming later in the season, then there might be some maybe looking over the shoulder a little bit.
- 37:52Speaker 2: Meanwhile, notre Dame is kind of like okay, we've got nothing to lose, let's go play this one with our hair on fire.
- 38:00Speaker 2: Maybe two different narratives for each team.
- 38:03Speaker 1: I like that.
- 38:04Speaker 1: I actually like that a lot and I think you're totally right.
- 38:06Speaker 1: I think if Ryan Day loses to Notre Dame and Michigan this year, those whispers are going to start to get loud.
- 38:12Speaker 1: But that's a long way between here and there.
- 38:14Speaker 1: We'll talk about that in November, if and when it happens.
- 38:16Speaker 1: The one thing I'm really interested I saw this on Twitter.
- 38:18Speaker 1: I think it's really interesting point Notre Dame's offensive line against Ohio State's defensive line.
- 38:24Speaker 1: Those are two phenomenal NFL packed units.
- 38:28Speaker 1: Joe Alt is probably a first round offensive tackle.
- 38:31Speaker 1: Ohio State is really loaded across the board with five star guys on the defensive front who have showed up so far early this season.
- 38:39Speaker 1: If Notre Dame's offensive line can push Ohio State's defensive line around, I think Notre Dame's going to take this game.
- 38:46Speaker 1: If they can't, if they can't get a push, if they can't run the ball SMA can't find holes, if Sam Hartman is running for his life, I think it's Ohio State.
- 38:55Speaker 1: So I think the matchup I don't know how it's going to go, but I really think that's the matchup of the game.
- 39:00Speaker 1: I think, on the other side, I think Ohio State's offense is going to do well enough.
- 39:05Speaker 1: I think Notre Dame's defense is going to do well enough.
- 39:07Speaker 1: I think the real X factor is going to be that competition.
- 39:11Speaker 1: Yeah, I really like that.
- 39:14Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't know where it's going to go.
- 39:15Speaker 2: I think if Notre Dame wins this game, it'll be because of Sam Hartman, and I kind of like them here.
- 39:25Speaker 2: I hate to do it, but I kind of think Notre Dame is a swing out.
- 39:30Speaker 1: I think they're getting three and a half at home and other getting three at home.
- 39:32Speaker 1: But you're taking the points, you're taking the win outright, just outright.
- 39:36Speaker 1: All right, notre Dame, all right, go Irish Good stuff.
- 39:39Speaker 1: Anything else on the slate before we jump out?
- 39:41Speaker 1: The home teams Nope, cool.
- 39:43Speaker 1: Lsu at versus home at Arkansas minus 17.
- 39:46Speaker 1: Arkansas looked bad.
- 39:48Speaker 1: Last weekend's BYU.
- 39:50Speaker 1: We already talked about LSU handling their business with style and classic at Mississippi State Impressive, showing we're going to win this game.
- 39:58Speaker 1: Arkansas is not a good team, but what I'm looking for, what I'm paying extra special attention to, is LSU's offensive line against Arkansas's defensive line.
- 40:08Speaker 1: Arkansas's defensive line is the strength of this team.
- 40:11Speaker 1: Landon Jackson, former Tiger, is awesome.
- 40:14Speaker 1: He's leading the team.
- 40:15Speaker 1: I think with three sacks so far in the year, if LSU is going to reach the heights they want to reach, they're going to have to do really well against a really tough Arkansas D-line.
- 40:26Speaker 1: So the matchup I'm watching for this game is the O-line is a D-line, but otherwise I got LSU winning, maybe covering, I don't know.
- 40:34Speaker 1: I think 16, 17 points is about right to me.
- 40:37Speaker 2: Yeah, Arkansas is kind of trending in the wrong direction.
- 40:39Speaker 2: What I want to see is you want to see Jay and Daniels and Malik neighbors build on this connection that they had last week and you want to see that offense continue to roll and not take a huge drop off.
- 40:50Speaker 1: Sure it's.
- 40:51Speaker 1: Also, it's LSU's first home SEC game.
- 40:54Speaker 1: It's a night game, so I'm expecting, obviously we play gambling, but you know, scrambling.
- 41:00Speaker 1: I'm expecting Death Valley to be lit up because I think we have a really impressive visitor list from recruiting standpoint.
- 41:06Speaker 1: So good times in Baton Rouge.
- 41:08Speaker 1: Hopefully they keep on rolling.
- 41:09Speaker 1: Next, ut against.
- 41:12Speaker 1: They're hosting UTSA.
- 41:13Speaker 1: I don't even know what the line is.
- 41:15Speaker 1: I'm sure it's massive 19.
- 41:16Speaker 1: What do you got?
- 41:19Speaker 2: You really just want to see better execution, better tackling, better fundamentals.
- 41:24Speaker 2: You want to see some things cleaned up.
- 41:27Speaker 2: There's nothing that's going to be mean DEBA.
- 41:29Speaker 2: There's nothing coming out of this game.
- 41:31Speaker 2: It's gonna make you feel better and there all you can do is really just try to Incrementally take a step in the right direction.
- 41:41Speaker 1: Yep.
- 41:41Speaker 1: So I find you said my notes are six for the UT game.
- 41:44Speaker 1: 60 minutes of execution is what the doctor order.
- 41:47Speaker 1: That's what I'm looking for.
- 41:48Speaker 1: I just I want, I want, I want Joe Milton to run the offense and run this team the way he's supposed to Want the defense to be in position.
- 41:55Speaker 1: I want them to make tackles.
- 41:56Speaker 1: I want to see 60 minutes of execution.
- 41:58Speaker 1: I mean, this is my take on the Nico situation.
- 42:02Speaker 1: I think Milton is running out of time.
- 42:05Speaker 1: I think he's this.
- 42:06Speaker 1: I think we're getting close to the point where it might come to flip.
- 42:08Speaker 1: I think you got.
- 42:09Speaker 1: I think if Milton executes and looks the part, even though it's an inferior opponent, that's fine because, honestly, he didn't look the part against UVA or Austin pay Frank.
- 42:17Speaker 2: No more.
- 42:18Speaker 2: Yeah, we haven't seen.
- 42:19Speaker 2: We haven't seen a high-level execution.
- 42:21Speaker 2: No.
- 42:23Speaker 1: And honestly, I kind of think and even though, nicos, I've only been on campus for what?
- 42:27Speaker 1: Eight months and spring ball I kind of think that's his floor too.
- 42:30Speaker 1: So if that's true, you might as well wrote the freshman and get him out there.
- 42:33Speaker 2: So except that the offensive line has looked terrible.
- 42:37Speaker 1: Are they getting?
- 42:37Speaker 1: Are they getting maze back this week?
- 42:38Speaker 1: Do we know?
- 42:39Speaker 2: no word, we, we.
- 42:40Speaker 2: He was suited up ready to go last week and didn't see action.
- 42:44Speaker 1: So okay, okay.
- 42:45Speaker 1: So offensive line still might be an issue, even against lesser, lesser competition.
- 42:49Speaker 1: So my point is I think Milton gets one more shot.
- 42:53Speaker 1: If I, if I'm, if I'm running, if I'm Josh Hypel, I gap Milton one more chance to look like the version of him that we know we can be for 60 minutes.
- 43:03Speaker 1: If he's not there, I think it's Nico time, south Carolina next week, but let's, we'll see what happens.
- 43:08Speaker 1: Keep rolling.
- 43:11Speaker 1: And he also need a UT game.
- 43:13Speaker 1: All right, last two games we're gonna get out of here UVA, nc State.
- 43:17Speaker 1: At UVA is Friday night, nc States minus nine and a half.
- 43:20Speaker 1: Austin.
- 43:20Speaker 1: Brennan Armstrong, homecoming the Brett, the UVA transfer quarterback, obviously went to NC State.
- 43:25Speaker 1: He's coming back to play his old team and she's good.
- 43:30Speaker 1: I mean they obviously that took a tough loss in Notre Dame in the rain two weeks ago, but they're they're a quality opponent for this.
- 43:38Speaker 1: I'm looking for UVA to build on that offensive chemistry.
- 43:41Speaker 1: I, like I said earlier, malachi fields, malik Washington.
- 43:45Speaker 1: Those are some guys who can make some things happen on offense.
- 43:48Speaker 1: I want to see Calendria or Muscat, whoever it is.
- 43:50Speaker 1: I'm continue to grow on that and see.
- 43:53Speaker 1: If you know, it's Friday night, any, any given, every, any given game can happen.
- 43:56Speaker 1: I want to UVA come out alive.
- 43:59Speaker 1: Come out, let it, let it fly and see if they can challenge NC State team and the comfy confines of Scott stadium.
- 44:07Speaker 2: Yeah, the spread is only like nine and a half for NC State, and so you know, I fully expect UVA to compete here and keep it.
- 44:14Speaker 2: Keep it Respectable.
- 44:16Speaker 2: I think it's the state's gonna win, but I'd love to see UVA continue to, like you said, look good on offense.
- 44:24Speaker 1: Yeah, hope this is a chance for UVA to get the first win.
- 44:27Speaker 1: It is a home game.
- 44:28Speaker 1: It is a beatable gettable NC State team.
- 44:31Speaker 1: I think I want to see UVA build on the weapons.
- 44:34Speaker 1: They've got kind of starting to establish and and challenge NC State, especially vertically.
- 44:39Speaker 1: A couple big shots and you can see this game go the other way.
- 44:42Speaker 2: Yeah, just don't turn the ball over.
- 44:44Speaker 1: Just don't turn the ball over.
- 44:45Speaker 1: And I also also could see and keep that, keep, keep Clinjory upright, keep him moving.
- 44:50Speaker 1: Nc State is going to be Rushing the passer and blitzing a lot.
- 44:55Speaker 1: They know that UVA's offensive line is vulnerable, so I fully expect them to get to give them fits.
- 45:00Speaker 1: Last week, last game, virginia Tech plus five at Marshall.
- 45:05Speaker 1: Another quarterback homecoming Grant Wells, who's all think is actually gonna play from Marshall.
- 45:10Speaker 1: It's kind of funny that this week both the homeboys are quarterbacks, or anyway, grant Wells homecoming Marshall's 2-0.
- 45:16Speaker 1: They're good, they're good.
- 45:19Speaker 1: And this is a tough spot for tech, usually going a power five going to a non-power five teams a good spot to get a win.
- 45:25Speaker 1: Tech is certainly dirt, certainly capable of getting this win.
- 45:29Speaker 1: I Don't really have a read on this game to you.
- 45:36Speaker 2: No Brent prize been pretty coy about whether it's gonna be the Wells or drones show.
- 45:41Speaker 2: Nothing on the depth chart hasn't come out and said who's who's getting the start.
- 45:46Speaker 2: I think you might see both.
- 45:47Speaker 2: So you know, I think that would be interesting to see.
- 45:51Speaker 2: It gives Marshall a little something to maybe think about how they prepare for the different styles.
- 45:56Speaker 2: A two quarterback system might not be the worst idea as they continue to kind of figure things out.
- 46:01Speaker 2: It's, it's at Marshall.
- 46:03Speaker 2: You know it's gonna be another tough day, I think, for the Hokies, but maybe you find a little something there with the two quarterback system.
- 46:10Speaker 2: It's now is the time for experimentation, you know, yeah, and I was just trying to have a little fun with it Look for growth.
- 46:19Speaker 1: Yeah, and I was just gonna say that.
- 46:21Speaker 1: Well one, I agree with you.
- 46:22Speaker 1: I think a two-quarter system might be a good look, just if nothing else, just to give Marshall defense board think about, and if your Grant Wells I mean you can't keep me off that field a chance to get, to get to your Play in front of your former team, former home crowd.
- 46:34Speaker 1: I, you know, if he's healthy, if he's ready to go.
- 46:37Speaker 1: He is begging pry for snaps and if I'm Brent pry, I'm gonna give him at least some looks.
- 46:41Speaker 1: These couple drives packages.
- 46:42Speaker 1: I think drone still things drones in the future of this team.
- 46:44Speaker 1: But Great Wells is a spot where he could really help.
- 46:48Speaker 1: I also I get some more against Ruckers.
- 46:50Speaker 1: Last week they played 16 freshmen.
- 46:53Speaker 1: So I which I really really liked, obviously freshman or take their lumps.
- 46:57Speaker 1: Oftentimes they need a year of off-season conditioning and weight training to really become Do you want power five college football players.
- 47:04Speaker 1: But I think I think pry is doing what he's doing.
- 47:06Speaker 1: He knows that this is still year 1.2 of your 2.0, you know two and a half of a long-term build.
- 47:14Speaker 1: We need some quality depth, we need guys, everybody on this team.
- 47:18Speaker 1: He's live seasoning, especially the defense which is just bleeding everywhere.
- 47:22Speaker 1: So let's get some guys some snaps.
- 47:24Speaker 1: So I'm like what pry is doing there?
- 47:26Speaker 1: I build this team for quality product down the road.
- 47:30Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 47:30Speaker 2: And if I'm Virginia Tech, you know I'm coming into this game defensively and I'm gonna say you know what, you're not gonna run the ball on us like Rutgers did, I don't care what we do Load the box, you know, force them to throw the ball around a little bit.
- 47:44Speaker 2: We're not gonna get pushed around like that again Because that's that's, you know, that's, that's a statement, that's that's.
- 47:52Speaker 2: This is hokey.
- 47:53Speaker 2: You know, grab your lunch pail defense.
- 47:55Speaker 2: Yeah, show some pride.
- 47:57Speaker 2: That is embarrassing, and so look for that not to happen again.
- 48:01Speaker 2: If I'm conversely, if I'm Marshall, that's my first game plan test them on the run game, see how they hold up.
- 48:10Speaker 1: Very good, I think that's it.
- 48:11Speaker 1: I got no more notes for this week or last.
- 48:14Speaker 1: Anything else you want to?
- 48:15Speaker 2: anything football lady wants you let's get to this weekend and let's watch some damn football.
- 48:19Speaker 1: Yeah, this week is going too long.
- 48:20Speaker 1: It's already Wednesday.
- 48:20Speaker 1: Feels like it's been a million days.
